White Knight Time Travel idea : People are suspecting..
Jaune and Weiss are at the Vytal Festival , each one with their respective teams , their mission has gone..well.. so far. Even without trying to change so much some things never change like Team CVFY and Prof.Port saving the city or Ruby meeting Penny...
But that doesn't matter compared to the titanic work they would have to do during this specific moment..it was now or never
~Weiss Side~
Ruby:WE DID IIIT!!!!....Anyone esle is starving?....
Weiss listened to Ruby and Blake's chat from the side , each time they have this small moments the more she thinks how everyone took Beacon's days from granted
Having to relieve the fight against Team ABRN made her notice how..unprepared they were ; even herself with her "Competent" perfomance wasn't still not enough to face that monster..
Weiss..
The Grimm entering Beacon..
Weiss..
The Witch's inner circle playing right under their noses..
WEISS..
Pyrrha and Penny along many other students being casualties of the..
WEISSS!
Weiss:W-W-What?!
Yang: Your scroll is ringing , shouldn't you answer it?
Weiss noticed her scroll , the contact named "FATHER"..
Right..her time at Beacon was almost up..
Weiss:I will call him later , thanks for making me know Yang..
The Blonde Brawler has noticed her friend weird..this last few day , she can't say why..but it's there , spacing out of chats most of the time or reacting to certain words like Destiny , Maiden or even mentioning locations like Haven Academy can get her all shaky
Right now Ice Queen is looking at her Sis talking with Emerald and her silent friend like she's trying way too hard to keep herself civil , her face may not show it but that tense posture and hands behind shouted something was wrong
And to say the last person she saw acting this way her Dad after..her Supermom left was all she needed to know , Ice Queen's hiding something and she will find out
~Jaune's side~
Jaune did miss Beacon , the academy.. , but coming right back wouldn't make it any better..quite the contrary it shows him how somethings must remain as memories..
The Vytal Festival just started and the mood seems festive enough for him to enjoy a little. Children playing around , teens being themselves truly a moment to breathe fresh air
Miss : Gather around as I tell the story of the Girl who fell through the World!
Jaune tenses hearing that , it's just a woman reading a story to a bunch of kids..nothing dangerous..
Yet..
He takes a look at his armour , clean not rusted..his face is still young and Crocea Mors is still complete..
Ren: Jaune?
Jaune:W-What?!
Nora: You have been standing there for a while , did the story peak your interest? Alyx's story is a classic! The Curious Cat is my favorite character! So mischevious!
If looks could kill , Nora's smile would have been erased a while ago..
Jaune:That Cat is nothing but troubles..
Nora:What? Don't tell me you are a fan of the Red Prince? Or the Rusted Knight?
Sensing hostility , Ren tried to change the topic..
Ren:Why don't we go with Pyrrha? She's saved us a nice spot in that Mistralian restaurant.
Both teammates agree , Nora leaves because she has won another petty argument..but Jaune seemed so personal about it..The Girl who fell through the World is just a Children's story..why is he so defensive about it?
Lie Ren is someone who can read the room quite well and to his knowledge..there's something wrong with Jaune..
He acts like..an adult sometimes , there's nothing wrong with that but it seems off..
Even their stategies , they are a group of Four , Team JNPR..but Jaune always acts like only Nora and him are part of the team
Ren even hears his silent sobs when he has nightmares , the words "Cinder" "Kill" "Penny" "Pyrrha" is all he has as evidence , trying to make sense of said word it would be something like
Cinder will kill Pyrrha and Penny
That sounded so..dumb , Cinder is a student along her team but he would ask Jaune later right now they have a fight to win
👀👀👀
So many of these WK Time travel asks are from their POV, I LOVE this look into their friends’ view

Jaune Phone Call with Papa Arc.
Team JNPR Dorm Room.
Jaune: I'm gonna fail this assignment because my dad won't open up.
Ren: Me and Nora going to fail because our parents were killed because of a Grimm attack.
Pyrrha: Wow I didn't knew that Ren. I'm sorry to hear that. And are you doing Nora's homework?
Nora: Fo'sho. What? You expect me to do my own homework? Please think even less of me.
Ren: Look Jaune, back on topic. A lot of people feel more comfortable talking about personal things when it's not face-to-face.
Nora: Maybe you should try calling your dad.
Jaune: I guess it's worth a shot...
*ring* 🎶
Mistralian Restaurant.
Papa Arc: Hello?
Jaune: H-hey dad. What'chu up to?
Papa Arc: Eating lunch. I just needed a break from work you know. Lately I've been thinking about all the people I've had to kill...
God. The first, five, ten times you take a life it's eerie you remember every detail. I can see all their faces. One had a beard. Each time I pulled the trigger I tied a little knot in my memory no amount of whiskey could loosen...
Nora: *Scoots away from the phone call*
Papa Arc: Of course eventually I stopped caring. Now I can put a bullet through a man's head while figuring out how much VFC to pick up on my way home. It's usually no more than a bucket.
Pyrrha: 😱
Papa Arc: The sick part is I've come to love it. Snuffing out lives. I crave it. I feel like an angel of death, the messenger of eternal darkness, a merciless demon with an unquenchable... Oh! They just put more orange chicken on the Buffett gotta run. *phone ended.
Nora: *Hiding under the bed*
JPR: *Stunned in place*
Back in the Dorm Room
Jaune: I can't turn this in. It's all about my dad killing people.
*someone enters into the room*
Yang: What is this about killing people?
Pyrrha: Hey Yang, it's nothing we're trying to finish our assignment.
Weiss: I already finished mine ages ago. What took you guys so long?
Ren: We're trying to get Jaune's dad to talk about what happened during his time, but so far he's being "uncooperative"...
Blake: How is he being "uncooperative?"
Nora: *shivering* You don't want to know....
Ruby: Oh, maybe I can help you with your dad? 🙂
Jaune: *rub Ruby's head* It's okay Ruby. It's my assignment after all. You don't have to do anything to help me.
Ruby: *purr* 😸 (Oh yeah, that's the stuff... Run my head like you own me. 😚)
Ren: Call your dad again and get him to talk about something else.
*ring* 🎶
Papa Arc: Hello?
Jaune: Hey dad.
Papa Arc: Son, glad you called. I was kind of bumming thinking about your mom.
Jaune: W-what, why?
Yang: (Isn't she the hot one?)
Papa Arc: *sigh* I feel like our lovemaking has lost all its intimacy. We're not attuned to each other's love energy, we're just slamming away...
Jaune: Dad! I'm here with the girls on speakerphone.
Blake: (Don't interrupt him! 😾)
Papa Arc: Hey girls! So, Lovemaking sure can turn into sex without you even noticing it. And why not sex with your mom feels great!
*Team RWBY starts circling in to listen closely.*
Papa Arc: It's easy to think, maybe there is love and then there's the performer in me always trying to get your mom turned on.
Weiss: (Scandalous...)
Papa Arc: I pull her hair, choke her lightly or not so lightly.
Ruby: (I wish Jaune will do that to me one day.🥵)
Jaune: Dad! When you were my age. What was the cost of a loaf of bread.
Papa Arc: The focus becomes how hot she gets. How many times I can make her shudder with pleasure.
RWBY: *giggling*
Jaune: Allright this is enough... *gets tackled to the ground*
Ruby: Don't, disturb your dad! 😠 *gag Jaune's mouth*
Jaune: *muffled scream*
Yang: Dad. What do mom boobs look like?
Papa Arc: I'll tell you Yang they're perfect. Creamy, twins with faint blue veins running over them like cooling streams I can wash my face in it...
Yang: Oh that's hot.... *starts rubbing herself.*
Blake: Hmmph! You never get this hot when you're with me...
Yang: Really? Maybe I should change that then... *long sensual kiss*
So how do you like it my kitty cat?
Blake: ... It's a start. *return kiss*
Ren: Shouldn't we stop this?
Nora: What! No I say we join in and turned it into an orgy.
Ren: Wait, what? *gets mounted by Nora*
Papa Arc: Of course it still wasn't enough for the both of us...
Ruby: So Jaune... Now that everyone are enjoying themselves. Maybe you want to do it with me too? 😊
Jaune: Ruby I...
Pyrrha: You can't! b-because Jaune is mine... *kiss Jaune*
Ruby: *gasp* (How could Pyrrha NTR Jaune away from me? He's mine I saw him first!😫)
Papa Arc: ... And even then we still weren't satisfied. It got so bad your mom decided to bring another woman into our bed to spice things up, as she puts it. Oh, the looks on your mother's face as I plow the other woman in front of her. Turns out your mom likes to look.
Ruby: (Could that be the solution. Me, Jaune and Pyrrha? I mean I do find the both of them to be extremely hot... Ah, who am I kidding. YOLO.) Pyrrha. Can you let me join with you and Jaune? 😇
Pyrrha: Well since you ask nicely...
Jaune: Wait, what do you mean by that? Pyrrha, Ruby why are the two of you looking at me like that??! No, no, no, stay away!!!
Weiss:
(No one wants to be with me 😢)
Papa Arc: And that's why Jaune you probably have another half-sibling running around right now... Oh, you having an Orgy in there? Don't let me stop you, son. But do remember to use protection. Unless you want to have an unexpected surprise like me. But seriously use a condom or I will castrate you... Oops. Gotta go Jaune. My egg fooyong is finally here.
Beacon Academy.
Cardin: ... That's why my Dad walked out of his Dad's funeral & I will walk out of my dad's funeral!
Peter: Great presentation Cardin. Now Jaune you're up. Show me your report on your father.
Jaune: I-I'm sorry, Professor Port but my dad wasn't really willing to answer the questions.
Peter: Nonsense young man. I give you an entire week. What were you even doing all those time?
Ruby: More like what haven't we been doing? 🤭
Pyrrha: *giggle* Stop it Ruby, you going to get us into trouble.
Ruby: I can't help it Pyr. So. Same thing tonight? 😉
Pyrrha: Most definitely, we're not going to let Jaune get any sleep tonight. If you know what I mean.
Peter: Why if I don't know any better, I think you are trying to get out of this assignment?
Jaune: Okay. Is that what you think? Okay professor Port here we go.
*Walks up to the front of the class*
Jaune: *click* Hey dad, I'm calling in front of my history class. So who was the councilman when you were a kid?
Papa Arc: Oh, I don't know but I guess I think about killing myself pretty frequently. And why not. What so great about living? You know when I'm happy? For about five seconds when I first wake up. Before I remember who I am and what my life is about. Anxiety, disappointment, diarrhea more often than not. I don't know if there's an afterlife. But who cares. Nothingness couldn't be worse than my meaningless March through my empty days.
Jaune: You see professor Port... Professor Port?
Peter: He's right, it's pointless, Salem will kill us all... Life Dismissed. *jumps through the window*
Nora: I guess class is over?

‘You and I’
"Those drinks aren't gonna mix themselves, Nora! Stop gawking at Ren's behind and sling some drinks already!" Pyrrha joked though she could definitely use the assistance. The Dirty Glass was packed tightly on this Friday evening. Nothing special was going on, as far as she knew, but Friday was a busier day.
Nora rolled her eyes at the back end of Pyrrha's comment and grabbed two bottles. She popped the caps off the two stouts and slid them down the bar to waiting patrons. The two of them threw their Lien on the bar and thanked the electric redhead. They had left a good bit of change, which Nora threw into a jar behind the counter.
"I love people who pay in cash..." Nora mused, spacing for a second. She caught a shot glass Pyrrha had tossed to her without realizing it.
"I need a Screwdriver for table nineteen, ma'am!" Ren asked her as he stepped into the kitchen to collect a meal for delivery. Her orange hair bounced as she shook the orange juice and vodka in a steel cup, straining the mixture into the shot glass Pyrrha had tossed her. She dripped some Grenadine into the beverage for a bit more color. "Thank you, my love!" Ren told her with a wink as he scooped up the glass and made for his table.
Nora's eyes turned to hearts at that.
"Are you ever going to jump that boy?" A patron at the bar asked her. Nora giggled at the blue-haired woman, a regular customer she'd known for a while, knowing full well that she'd been joking.
"I pounce on him regularly, hon! Our neighbors probably want us evicted!" She joked. Pyrrha rolled her eyes and chortled.
"If anything, they want Jaune and me to get lost!" Pyrrha winked.
"I appreciate not hearing about your sexy time at work, Nikos!" Ren complained with a laugh as he emptied a bucket of ice into a cooler. "Then again, not hearing about my own would be wonderful too!" He jabbed. Nora stuck her tongue out at him.
"That will only make things worse, Thunder!" Pyrrha joked back. Ren rolled his eyes and returned to the kitchen.
"How come your boy isn't here?" The customer asked Pyrrha. She blushed at the words.
"He's on the full restaurant side. I'm headed over there as soon as my shift is over. I'm supposed to sing a couple of numbers with the jazz band playing."
"Ooh, you sing? Sing for me!"
"It's a bit too noisy in here, ma'am..." Pyrrha attempted to dodge the request. Jaune walked in through the kitchen. It must be his break time.
"Aw, come on! Your boy's here now! Sing him a song and let us all hear!" The customer encouraged.
Nora slammed her fist on the metal sink behind the bar. "Attention, patrons! We will now treat you all to a musical number from our very own PYRRHA NIKOS!!!" She announced, her voice thundering through the bar. The whole room went quiet.
"I'm going to whip your butt when we get home!" Pyrrha complained.
"Talk dirty to me, Magnet!" Nora retorted, a few customers laughing. Pyrrha rolled her eyes and stepped up onto a barstool and then up to the bar.
"Don't tell anyone you saw this, or I'll kill all of you!" She joked. She pondered her song choice for a minute, then stomped and clapped a beat. The crowd followed with their own feet and hands.
Don't you worry there, my honey
We might not have any money,
But we've got our love to pay the bills
Maybe I think you're cute and funny
Maybe I want to do what bunnies
Do with you, if you know what I mean
She grinned and winked at Jaune as she sang that line. The blond boy blushed ten shades of red at that. He knew he'd have to join her for the next verse. Pyrrha stomped her way into the chorus.
Oh, let's get rich and buy our parents homes in the south of France
Let's get rich and give everybody nice sweaters and teach them how do dance
Let's get rich and build a house on a mountain, making everybody look like ants
From way up there, you and I, You and I
Jaune climbed onto the bar next to Pyrrha. She planted a soft kiss on his lips, earning some rowdy cheers from their audience.
[Jaune]: Well you might be a bit confused
[Pyrrha]: And you might be a little bit bruised
{Jaune]; But, baby, how we spoon like no one else.
So I will help you read those books
If you will soothe my worried looks
[Both]: And we will put the lonesome on the shelf
The two of them stomped and clapped away as they sang the chorus through twice. The entire bar clapped and cheered for the two of them. They kissed again before climbing off the bar.
"I love you, Knight..." Pyrrha told Jaune softly.
"I love you more, Magnet..." He replied, kissing her again.
"That's impossible, but I believe you anyway." Pyrrha twirled a lock of her deep red hair with one finger.
"BACK TO WORK! THESE DRINKS AREN'T GONNA MIX THEMSELVES, REMEMBER?!" Nora chided with a laugh. Pyrrha rolled her eyes and mixed three cocktails in the time it took Nora to make one.
"I might just whip your butt right now!"
"Oh, baby!" Nora retorted, poking her behind out toward Pyrrha.
"This shift is never going to end..." Ren resigned from the kitchen, where he was now cooking a steak dinner. "At least you get to leave this craziness," He told Jaune as the blond boy was stepping out the door to venture back across the street to the Light and the Glass.
The rest of their shift ran smoothly enough. Ren and Nora ran home together, thankful for the alone time they would receive. Pyrrha changed clothes, trading her awful uniform for a spectacularly scarlet evening gown, before making her way across the street to perform with the Dust Crystals. They were a four-piece smooth jazz outfit that played local venues, and Pyrrha was friends with their saxophone player. Topaz and her cohorts always welcomed Pyrrha's pipes to share their stage.
Pyrrha and Jaune caught a taxi back to the flat they shared with Ren and Nora. Those two had tired themselves out by the time Pyrrha and Jaune returned, so now they would get some alone time.

I think that regarding RWBY criticism people are defensive because there are a lot of people who dont like the show and actively shit talk it for whatever reason. We agree on that and we agree there are people who criticize the show because they like it and want it to be "better" (whatever that means to them.) Now feel free to disagree with me on this part but i think part of the reason the people who have genuine criticism often get disregarded and labeled a hater is because, at least to me, they dont provide a solution to the problems they have or do so in a way that can be interpreted as self-righteous and condescending. Its like if a teacher got mad at a student for not understanding the material rather than trying to explain it differently, it just creates another issue.
I think the reason why critics don't provide a solution is the same reason why that comparison doesn't work for me: we are not RT's teachers. We are the consumers of their product. Whereas a teacher has a responsibility to do everything possible to help a student get better at their subject (the thing they're paid to do), it is not the viewers' responsibility to do everything possible to help RT get better at writing (we're paying them). To my mind, it really is enough to say, "This is bad" and leave it at that. The same way if I order a meal at a restaurant, I'm allowed to go, "Wow. That tasted awful and I'm upset about it because I expected better." If my dinner companion went, "Well, why was it bad? Too cold? Not enough seasoning? Prove to me these failings exist because I'm not inclined to take you at your word. And more importantly, what's your solution here? I'm not going to take this complaint seriously unless you have a good plan for how to fix this dish" I'd be like, "... what am I supposed to do? March into the kitchen and teach the chef myself?"
We're under no obligation to fix RT's mistakes and, even if we were, how exactly are a bunch of fans meant accomplish that? What literal, practical action does anyone expect fans to take to ensure that the changes they want to see in RWBY actually come about? There's nothing you can do. However, despite this, many fans do suggest changes that they think would benefit the story, with the hope that the writers — who are very active on social media and engage a great deal with their fans — will see and take note. There have been times throughout the series where it does appear like they saw some of the more common complaints... only to then swerve right back towards their original writing decisions. Ren's Volume 8 arc is an example of that. So is Jaune's focus in the finale. Many in the fandom said, "I want to see the group held responsible for their bad decisions. I want Jaune to take a backseat so the girls can get more development. I think these choices will help alleviate many of the criticisms we've had" and RT did that... only to pull back on both changes at the last second. Obviously there's no way to know their intentions there, whether it's a coincidence they toyed with ideas the fandom has frequently discussed, or whether they actually tossed them in to try and appease critics with no real plans to take those changes seriously, but for the purposes of this discussion it amounts to the same: fans said "Doing this specific thing will make the story better, with 'better' defined as us deriving more enjoyment from it" and RT didn't do the thing. So, where are you supposed to go from there? Storm RT headquarters and make them take writing classes? Frankly, it's ridiculous to think that fans need or could do anything at all, making solutions a needless requirement.
To say nothing of how this comes across as another lose-lose situation. You say that critics should provide solutions to these problems in order to be taken seriously. You also say that if they do provide solutions, they tend to come across as "self-righteous and condescending." Pardon my skepticism, but it sounds like there isn't a version of criticism that's going to meet with your approval, or if it exists, it's an incredibly narrow pocket. Criticism is dismissed if there's no solution attached, but if you do provide a solution, make sure you don't sound too confident in the changes you want to make. That doesn't sound very doable to me. It just sounds like a catch-all way to dismiss criticism as a whole, either because a post didn't meet the first, arbitrary requirement, or did so in a tone the recipient decides they don't like (which is always subjective. Any post can be read as "self-righteous" if you decide that's the route you want to go. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy). And I do see this a lot. For a transformative fandom like any other, the RWBY community has a strangely hostile attitude towards rewrites, with many fans considering it "self-righteous" to think that anyone could write RWBY better than RT, and that a rewrite's existence is "condescending" towards the writers. If I actually gave a detailed account of not just my problems with the story, but also the specific changes needed to improve it (many of which, notably, require a reworking of the mechanics and world building from the very start), there's a very good chance that would still be dismissed because people would interpret it as too arrogant. "Look at her, thinking she's better than professional, successful writers. What massively popular stories have you published lately? Yeah, that's what I thought. God I hate critics, they're so pretentious." If you don't provide solutions you're being too negative and don't actually want the story to succeed. If you provide solutions you're too arrogant and insulting the writers by daring to think that you could do better. So again: lose-lose.
But as said, solutions shouldn't be necessary. It's great if you come up with some, but figuring out how to fix a product's failings is not a requirement for voicing grievances with that product. I don't need to know how to build a better computer to be upset if mine suddenly fails. I don't need to know how to bake muffins to grimace if the one I'm eating tastes off. And you don't need to know how to write a webseries to be unhappy with how RWBY is going. If we were in a position of responsibility with RT, like a teacher, then yeah, totally different situation. But they're producing something that they expect fans to pay for, whether it's through First accounts, merch, cons, etc. or, payment aside, they nevertheless hope to receive attention and praise for this product. The flipside of that is that people might not like what you're selling. You can be displeased with the quality of a webseries purchase in precisely the same way you can be displeased with the quality of a meal. No Gordon Ramsey-level knowledge required.

Growing Pains
Nala Arc: *Jaune’s sixteen year old daughter with thick blonde hair pulled back in a low pony, blonde cat ears atop her head with her grandfather Ghira’s yellow eyes* --Yes Daddy.
Jaune: *Very seriously* And you’ve got your scroll.
Nala: *Shows it off* Yup.
Jaune: Your purse?
Nala: *Rolls eyes* Duh.
Jaune: And your pepper spray, mace, rape whistle and extra ammo?
Nala: *Sighs* Yes, yes, of course and even if I tried to leave the dust out you’d find a way to smuggle it in anyways, Daddy.
Jaune: *Ignores the sass* Okay, good. Good. And you have--
Nala: *Growing impatient* --Yes, Dad, I have Pride. *Shows off twin automatic pistols in black and gold, connected by a thin gold chain and shifts it into weighted chain form before reshifting and holstering it*
Jaune: Okay, Dormiens Leo?
Nala: *Stomps foot* Dad, c’mon! I’m not taking my freaking sword on my first date!
Jaune: *Hands up, backtracking* Right, yeah, of course sweetpea! *Pauses*
Nala: *Stares at her father cautiously*
Jaune: Are you sure you don’t wanna wear the belt I bought you?
Nala: *Explodes* No! It looks nice, it looks normal, it’s super flippin’ cute but I know you had it custom made, I know it’s a high tech chastity belt that locks as soon as you put it on and only you have the code to it! Besides, I’m not even t-thinking about having that, about having s-sex with Dutch! *Blushing*
Jaune: *Gapes* W-who told you--
Nala: *Grumbling, not looking him in the eye* Mom.
Blake: *Entering the room, wiping her hands with a towel and tossing it on the table* And I’d do it again. Because, Jaune, you are overreacting.
Jaune: B-but she’s going on a date! With a boy!
Blake: *Cocks eyebrow* Mmm. So if it was a girl then it’d be okay?
Jaune: What? No! Boy or girl, doesn’t matter! *Hugs an irritated Nala fiercely* She’s my baby girl! She’s d-d-- *whispers* dating, Blake!
Blake: *Smiling* Uh-huh. And she’ll continue to date. One day - when she’s ready - she’ll even have sex. *Jaune whines and Nala turns into a tomato* But right now, you big baby, our little girl is going on her first date. She is being very safe, especially when you take into consideration that our daughter is highly trained, has two weapons and her King’s Flare semblance makes every fire semblance we’ve ever come across look like matchsticks. *Peels Jaune off of Nala*
Nala: *Embarrassed* Mooom!
Blake: *Fixes her daughters top, smoothes out her hair* She has her guns, she has common sense and honestly honey, she has my brains.
Jaune: *Long pause* I kinda think that last one mighta been an insult, but I do have to agree with you there.
Blake: Besides, Dutch is an athlete, not a Huntsman. No aura. You need to calm down.
*Jaune mutters mutinously, crossing his arms and Nala sighs and hugs her mother*
Nala: Thanks Mom. *Stands in front of Jaune, fidgets* Daddy?
Jaune: *Dramatic sigh* Ugghhh, I hate it when your mom makes sense. *Hugs Nala who squeezes him and puts her head on his shoulder* Just...have fun, okay? Don’t stay out too late, don’t do anything you don’t want to and you’re, uh...
Nala: *Rolls her eyes* It’s that neo-Valean restaurant near Auntie Nora and Uncle Lie’s neighborhood. If Dutch turns out to be a jerk, Auntie Nora will probably wind up leveling the place.
Jaune: *To Blake* Maybe we should give Ren the heads up instead of miss ‘Goddess of Boom’.
Blake: *To Jaune* Already called him. He has Nora busy with the twins tonight. *Smiles as Jaune kisses her cheek*
*The parents watch their daughter fuss over her hair, reapply lip gloss and fidget with her top, her ears twitching all the while and the door opens to an athletic young man with brown hair and dark green eyes*
Nala: *A few minutes later* --good that you all met, but we’re gonna miss the movie if we don’t go to dinner now. *Smiles brightly* C’mon, Dutch!
Dutch: *Grins, blushing a bit* Right, Nala. *To Blake* Bye Mrs. Arc. *To Jaune, winces* M-Mr. Arc. It was really nice to meet you. *Jaune just nods with a smile* I’llhaveherbackbytenbye!
Blake:
Jaune:
Blake: You just had to pull the whole ‘I am Paladin, Slayer of Salem’ thing, didn’t you.
Jaune: *Crosses arms petulantly* I have no idea what you mean, Blake.
Blake: *Rolls her eyes* Oh sure. Because you’re usually stern, terrifying and pushing your aura out to create killing intent.
Jaune: *Annoyed* If I was it must’ve just been instinct since he was checking of my sweet little girls behind.
Blake: *Snorts*
Jaune: *Whining* Blaaake! It’s not funny! She doesn’t even have your ass--
Blake: Oh she does. Just not my hips. Plus she’s more petite like your sister, Celeste.
Jaune: Nope, stop. But even still, that little fucker--
Blake: Is a teenage boy who thought he was being subtle. Who probably hasn’t asked out a future Huntress before, let alone the daughter of two veterans, even less two of the most talented swordspeople alive. *Takes Jaune’s hand and rubs a circle into his palm with her thumb* I know Nala growing up like this is making you a little crazy because of all your sisters and the fact that you were once a teenage boy, but have a little faith in our daughter.
Jaune: *Rubs face with free hand* Yeah, yeah, I know. I don’t like it though.
Blake: *Flippantly* And neither do I, Jaune, but it’s a part of being parents. We’re lucky Nala’s so even tempered and just skipped right over the teenage rebellion phase and isn’t just embarrassed by us. She’s a good girl. *Pauses, starts leading Jaune into the house* Or would you rather her be more Neptune and Dew’s girl?
Jaune: *Winces* No! *Grouchily* I just never thought letting her grow up would be so...
Blake: *Squeezes his hand* I know. But you got your licks in. And when Dutch brings our baby home, it’ll be his turn to worry about me. *Cuts off Jaune’s dumb grin* But until then...
Jaune: *Slumps* Blake, I don’t wanna do yard work. *Blinks as Blake sits on his lap* Oh. Ohhhhh. No, I’m definitely up for this task, ma’am. *Squeezes Blake’s ass*
Blake: *Smirking, leans in for a kiss* I figured.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I figured that if anybody would be both the cool parent and the responsible, easy to reason with but still every bit as protective one, it’d be Blake. And Knightshade’s a fun couple to explore although I like reading it better than writing it. Since other people do it better.
But I did have fun coming up with Nala Arc as a character. Named after the female lion from The Lion King that has a fair bit of meaning behind said name in the first place (I believe it’s Swahili for ‘Gift’). A weighted chain/pair of automatic pistols called Pride, plus a Nimcha sword named ‘Sleeping Lion’ in Latin (the name of the Lion King Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts II) and a semblance named after the Link Summon for Simba from Kingdom Hearts III (which works the same way: Nala becomes engulfed in fire, exudes fire and can cause loads of damage while active).

Bumbleby prompt! Blake comforting Yang after the traumatic events of the last couple episodes
I went a little overboard with this tbh-
“I’ll Always Stand by your Side in the End”
V8 C4 SPOILER WARNING
-------
"What do you mean you lost Oscar?!"
The sound of Ruby's voice from the other side of the room startled Blake awake. She sat up to open her eyes to a living room inside of the Schnee Manor. She was on a sofa, and beside her was Weiss, who was still asleep. Blake took a moment to process what she'd just heard before realization set in.
She shot up off the sofa rushing to Ruby who still was using her scroll. The caller id appeared as she realized it was Yang she was talking to... It'd been hours since they'd heard from the rest of their team, and Blake had been worried most of the night for Yang.
"We were clearing up some grimm down in Mantle and this grimm came in and scared away a few beowolves before literally taking Oscar! This grimm... You won't believe me when I say this Ruby..." Yang held a pause for a moment which gave Blake an opportunity to hear the engine of a motorbike at full speed in the background, Blake was pulled back to the original conversation when the words she'd never expect to hear in her life rushed out of Yang, "The grimm talked! It even knew how to protect itself! We weren't able to stop it, at first it kept using Oscar as a... Almost like a meat shield! Then while we're chasing it-it called for help! Grimm don't do that... Something is really off."
"How is that even possible?" Ruby spoke with pure shock. She turned to notice Blake was now awake, "You... Did you hear what happened Blake?"
"Blake?" Yang's voice came over. Blake's ear twitched to the sound of her name from Yang.
"I heard... Are you coming back? And even then... What are we going to do?" Blake replied. She felt her ears press against her head as she took a step back.
"I don't know... But we're heading back. Are you guys already in Mantle?" Yang was quick to ask her sister.
"No, Nora got injured while we were in the Compound, we're in the Schnee Manor now letting her rest, but once she's ready to go we'll be back down as quick as we can," Ruby paused for a moment, "So we can figure out how we're going to get Oscar back from Salem."
----
Within an hour Weiss had woken up, along with May who had been sleeping on another sofa. Nora still was unconscious and her aura only in the middle. Blake hoped it wouldn't be too long before they could get back down to Mantle, she was worried about them. About Jaune, Ren, especially Oscar... And Yang.
Her mind wouldn't drift to anything else aside from Yang. The fear in her voice still shook her. She'd witnessed probably the first grimm ever in the history of Remnant talk and show signs of actual intelligence.
Ruby and Weiss had been lightly conversing about the situation, Weiss, who was also very shocked to hear what had happened to the other group, had barely spoken all morning. Blake still sat by the window, wondering just how bad it was... If grimm learned how to actually protect themselves, that could be bad for all of Remnant, not just them.
...
She'd been tempted to call Yang, she figured they'd be back in Mantle by now waiting for them, but part of her wouldn't let her pick up her scroll. If she did she'd stare at the call button for a few minutes before putting her scroll back down.
Things finally started to get a move on for the morning when Nora awoke around 15 minutes later. Her aura was still around halfway recharged but they had an actual emergency now. The burn marks from the electricity though were healing to be scars that ran throughout her body.
After an even longer amount of time, Ruby and Weiss went off and made breakfast for them, something quick since they didn't have much time. Waffles, something Blake enjoyed. The 5 of them had sat and eaten quickly before checking to see if they had everything and soon enough they were back in the airship they came in. They took off, and Blake was beside Ruby, who stared out the window.
She took the moment to talk to her.
"Are you okay..?" She asked, Ruby, didn't turn around as her face grew slightly sadder.
"Yeah... I'm just worried about Oscar... And Penny... Keeping Penny out of reach of Salem is the best option we have right now but I still worry... If the littlest thing goes wrong with launching Amity..." She paused, taking in a breath of hesitation. Ruby turned to Blake, and Blake met her silver eyes.
"Oscar... We know Salem has the relic and... Oscar technically still has Ozpin buried inside him somewhere... I worry... Salem probably doesn't know how to work the Relic of Knowledge but Oscar does." Ruby spoke. Blake understood the point, who knows what Salem would even want with the Relic of Knowledge.
"We're here." May cut off the conversation as Blake finally looked out the window again and realized they were down in Mantle. As they landed Weiss pulled out her scroll and began to pull up a call with Jaune Ren and Yang. Within moments it was Jaune who answered.
"We're back, are you guys at the restaurant?" Weiss said.
"Yes, we're working on a plan, you really need to hurry," Jaune said.
"Why? More news?" Blake asked.
"No... It's just really bad." Jaune sighed. The group hopped out of the airship and set off for the restaurant and within seconds they were back inside the same room they started in.
The reunion was... Different than expected. When Blake entered Yang hadn't even turned to her, she stood up to hug Ruby, looked at Weiss then sat back down.
Is she... Mad at me?
The horrid thought wouldn't leave her, but it stayed for a while when they all sat around the table. So far the only plan they'd had was to go straight into the giant Grimm whale and see if that was where Oscar was.
Of course, that plan had been thrown off the table quickly, and in this case literally. There was a scrapped piece of paper on the floor of a battle plan of sorts.
What felt like hours passed by and nothing. They'd had smaller plans that would quickly be scrapped. They decided to take a short break, take a minute to breathe, and see if any good ideas would come that way. Blake had sat nervously, wondering if Yang would maybe acknowledge her now. She'd conversed with her in parts of their planning session but they still hadn't had an actual conversation.
What she didn't expect was to not have been paying attention when she did eventually speak to her.
"Are you... Mad at me?"
The tables almost turned as Blake realized Yang wasn't mad at her... She was... Was she worried she was mad at her?
"No! I'm not upset... I'm just worried. Everything going on..." Blake sighed as Yang took a seat beside her, "I thought you were mad at me for not going with you..."
"Blake, you were doing what you thought was right and in this situation, I'm just glad you're okay." Yang sighed.
...
"Are you okay, Yang?" Blake asked, turning to face her partner more directly. Yang took a while to respond. Blake grew anxious more and more before the response came.
"I don't know..." Yang's voice was barely a whisper. Blake could see invisible tears roll down Yang's face. Just by the looks of things it seemed worse than she'd expected overall. She spoke again, still in a whisper, "I just feel like this is partially my fault... Oscar being taken and all."
"It was not your fault." Her hand moved to caress Yang's cheek, "No one has ever seen a grimm like that before, and look now, we have no idea how to handle this. Even if you'd tried something then there's no guarantee it'll work. We'll get Oscar back. I promise." Yang stayed silent again as she leaned forward to fall into a hug with Blake, to which Blake moved her arms to hold onto Yang who by this point was almost crying. She noticed Ruby in the background, staring at the two of them. Her eyes wide with worry, but Blake nodded and Ruby turned away.
Once the hug was released she held eye contact with Yang.
"Yang, I know this wasn't your fault, and you did everything you could. You, Jaune, and Ren. This wasn't any of your faults, and I want you to know that." Blake said, "I'm not mad at you whatsoever, I just don't want you to get too worked up over this... I don't know what the future holds if I'm being honest, but no matter what, I promise I'll stand by your side in the end."
Silence rested between the two as Yang stood up with Blake. They hugged for a moment before Yang's eyes lit up.
"Guys, I have an idea."

WELP THAT'S A WRAP
I don't usually like writing things that could be in a canon setting per say but this was actually fun, writing hurt/comfort is kinda my jam, and for what it usually turns out to be this worked out a bit better than most I feel. Anyways... Please just be okay you two omg :(

The Art School AU nobody asked for
I’ve had this idea for an emercury AU fic kicking around in my head for a while now, but I have so many other projects on my plate rn and nowhere near enough time or energy to write it. So instead I’m just gonna post all the deets in the hopes that one day I’ll be able to come back and actually do something with it.
Emercury Art School AU Summary:
“Emerald Sustrai may have managed to get into the dance program at one of the most prestigious art schools on Remnant, but she has one big issue – after just one year of study, she’s barely managing to stay afloat even with two part-time jobs and her grades have been suffering for it. Fortunately for her, her school offers extra credit to any students who are cast in the school’s yearly exhibition performance. Unfortunately, this year’s production’s theme is “passion” and the only spot up for audition for sophomores in the dance program is for a couples’ dance performance based on said theme.
Enter one Mercury Black—a fellow dance student with a reputation unsavory enough to overshadow his considerable talent, and quite possibly the last person on Remnant Emerald would ever want to work with…He also happens to literally be the only other person she can find to pair up with her for the show. Somehow, improbably, the unlikely duo actually make a pretty good team once they finally start to work out their differences, but as they perfect their routine for the big audition, Emerald finds herself in a whole new predicament: She may have set out to steal the show, but if she’s not careful she might just end up getting her heart stolen in the process...”
So yeah…as you can see, the basic premise is that Em and Merc are classmates at this school for the arts, but both of them are having trouble earning passing marks in this one foundation course they both need to graduate—Emerald because she is completely on her own and has to work a lot to pay for her living expenses and studio fees and stuff even though she has a pretty decent scholarship, and Mercury because he keeps really odd hours and misses class quite a bit for unexplained reasons. Noticing that she’s struggling even though she is a gifted dancer, one of Emerald’s teachers suggests that she try out for the big show that their school puts on every school year, since anyone who makes the cut receives a bunch of extra credit and each faculty also gives a grant to the students who they judge to have put on one of the top three best performances. The problem is, there are only a limited number of spots up for audition for each graduating year of each concentration course due to time and resource restraints, and this year’s 2nd year dance spot happens to be billed as a couples’ performance.
Emerald hits up everybody she can think of, but they're all too busy or can't commit to the project for other reasons. Pretty much out of options at that point, she’s just about ready to give up when she has a chance encounter with a classmate, one Mercury Black, after school. Through some sort of clerical error they managed to book the exact same practice studio for exactly the same time, and since they both really need the extra practice time and neither one is willing to back down, they end up sharing the room for a few hours. When they do, Emerald is really surprised to find out that Mercury is actually a really talented dancer, she just never noticed before because even though they have some classes together he comes in very irregularly. After a long, sleepless night contemplating doing something really, really ill-advised, she ends up approaching him at school the next day to propose that they team up and audition for the big show together since they appear to both be failing the same class and need the credit really bad, and to her surprise he agrees rather easily.
Thus, the two of them become reluctant accomplices. However, once they start working out the choreography together, they just can’t seem to see eye-to-eye on anything, which doesn’t bode very well for their performance considering that it’s supposed to embody the show’s theme. Emerald is more of a ballet dancer, while Mercury is more of a street dancer, having started out with breaking and had almost zero classical training before starting school. After a while (with a lot of practice and a LOT of unsolicited intervention from their nosy friends) our two favorite mayhem children finally start to bond and find some common ground, and naturally, lighthearted romantic hijinks ensue and sparks fly between the unlikely duo as they struggle to cooperate and put together a passionate couples’ dance good enough to get into the final production.
The Supporting Cast:
Em’s peeps -- Cinder (in the class above, sort of her mentor and was the one who encouraged her to apply to school in the first place), Weiss (met in freshman year, in the same ballet, jazz and contemporary classes this year, snarking buddies), Blake (ended up in most of the same classes together this year), Coco (upperclassman in the design course, loves dressing Em in different outfits and often forces her to stand in as a house model for her when she needs to work late into the night to meet a deadline)
Merc’s peeps -- Sun (met in class in freshman year, breaking and sparring buddies), Neptune (met thru Sun, in pop class together this year), Scarlet (ditto), Blake (in a few classes together, waits tables at the same diner where he works), Yang (met at a stunt training camp the Summer of freshmen year, waits tables at the same restaurant, fellow gym rat and occasional sparring partner)
Salem -- Headmistress of the most prestigious arts school on Remnant; has a bitter love-hate (mostly hate) relationship with her ex
Oz -- The headmistress’ ex-husband who runs a very successful Circe du Soleil type show and recruits a lot of his performers from her graduating classes
Glinda -- Chair of the dance department; Contemporary and ballroom dance instructor; is so so weary of her faculty’s incessant bickering
Winter -- Ballet instructor; came up in a rigid traditional Atlesian ballet school and generally looks down on all the other dancing disciplines and their instructors (”What they do can BARELY be described as dancing”); wishes the dance department were as disciplined as the music department
Qrow -- Jazz and tap dance instructor; doesn’t think that what his sister does really counts as actual dancing; jazz hands, rain hands and double dream hands and he’s dead serious about em
Raven -- Acrobatic and contortion instructor; thinks jazz hands look really stupid, just like Qrow and his corny, goofy ass dancing; was actually trained extensively in traditional Mistralian Highlands step dancing from childhood alongside her brother and used to perform internationally before switching disciplines
Tai Yang -- Hip-hop and pop dance instructor; specializes in pop and lock; Raven's ex; constantly catching strays from Qrow and Raven’s feud; just happy to still have a job tbh
Arthur & Tyrian -- Co-chairs of the theater department; Arthur teaches classical acting and Tyrian teaches method acting and they both think the other doesn’t teach “real acting”; somehow their department is actually really popular and all the students love the yearly musical theater production, which is the only time they ever seem to agree on anything
Hazel -- Long-suffering theater production instructor; works really hard to keep things running smoothly in the background despite the department heads' antics; hates the headmistress’s ex with a burning passion
Ironwood -- Chair of the music department; runs his department like a well-oiled machine and has put the fear of god into all his students; has won the national marching band championships seven years running
All the other students are in various departments at their school—e.g. Ruby plays the sax, Yang and Jaune are both acting majors, Oscar plays the cello, Nora and Ren play the tuba and the erhu respectively, Pyrrha is a triple threat etc.
A bunch of random plot points:
-Merc, Em and their friends are all in the same foundation classes together and the two of them start off vaguely aware of one another mostly owing to the fact that all their friends are friends, but they don’t really know each other (…or DO they??? *DUN DUNNN DUNNNNN*)
-Most of the faculty at their school can’t stand each other and the different departments have been engaged in bitter rivalries for years but somehow they all work really well together because at the end of the day they’re all professionals who are good at their jobs
-All of their friends are convinced that they’re secretly dating or hooking up at the very least, because they suddenly start hanging around each other a lot, holing up in the practice studio together until all hours of the night and showing up school at the same time the next morning and are constantly snipping at each other whenever they interact. Merc’s squad is actually v supportive and (against his wishes) are doing their very best to try and help their boy lay down the mac (Sun: “Hey Merc! Thanks for letting me drive the convertible last weekend!😉👍”) , even though they all generally acknowledge that he’s way out of his league and is headed down the path to utter destruction. Meanwhile, Em’s friends are pretty appalled by her abysmally low standards (Weiss: “Emerald, you’re dating down....WAY down.🙁”) and think that shes going thru some kind of self-destructive phase or something. They’re convinced she’s about to have her life absolutely ruined by that one smirky fuccboi type from their grade who has super sus habits and “reeks of criminality” (also Weiss).
-Almost everybody including most of his friends are convinced that Mercury is doing something really, really shady for cash on the low because he keeps super odd hours, misses class a lot and is always showing up with all these bizarre, unexplained injuries. In reality, Em finds out that it’s all because he’s been training as a stunt-man outside of school and works a lot of weird hours at his part-time job so that he can pay off his prosthetics, finance his extra courses and pay for his own living expenses, etc. Although he actually was involved in some serious criminal activity in the past, he’s been trying his best to stay on the straight and narrow ever since he finally cut ties with his scumbag dad, and now just works a lot of nights and weekends as a short order cook at the local greasy spoon.
-Once Mercury realizes that Emerald is like...constantly on the brink of starvation because she’s a destitute vagabond baby but has too much pride to ask for help, he starts subtly bringing her leftovers from work, which she grudgingly accepts (because he owes her for putting him onto the whole extra credit thing, so it’s not really charity...definitely NOT because she is extremely susceptible to offerings of food and her partner also happens to be a surprisingly good cook).
-Cinder is in the year above them and has known Emerald since they were in the foster system together as kids. She’s a prodigy at ballet and also a very accomplished acrobat and contortionist (as in, like, can easily shoot an arrow into a bullseye with just her feet while her legs are bent backwards all the way over the top of her head and stuff). At some point she sits in on one of Em and Merc’s rehearsal sessions and ends up dragging the hell out of them both for being way too stiff and exhibiting almost zero chemistry despite the “obnoxiously obvious sexual tension” between them. She basically ends up barking directions at them until they alter their choreo a bunch and finally start to look somewhat like an actual couple ("For fuck's sake... Lift her like she's the most precious thing you've ever laid eyes on and you're about to make sweet love to her, you idiot, not like she's a frigging sack of potatoes you're bringing home to peel!!!" "This man is supposed to be the moon to your stars...if you don't loosen up and melt into his arms like your soul is on fire, I will flip ALL this shit over and burn this wretched studio to the ground with both of you trapped inside!!!" ), after which things gradually start to get all awkward and messy between them because they start thinking about one another differently.
-They get into a bunch of compromising situations by virtue of the fact theatre and dance people are just kinda naked a lot and don’t care. At various points in the story their friends will walk in on the two of them in some sort of really eyebrow raising situation, get the complete wrong idea and run away, which in turn makes the two of them start to feel awkward as hell toward each other.
-Coco forces them to wear matching outfits that she made just for their performance.
-Their act ends up being this spicy contemporary couples’ dance that incorporates a lot of elements of acrobatic dance, breaking and ballet, essentially blending together both of their unique dance backgrounds.
This story idea has absolutely nothing to do with canon and Remnant is a lot like modern-day Earth with some exceptions, so there are no semblances etc. There’s no antagonist; in fact everyone around them is generally supportive and wants them to succeed--the main conflict comes from Emerald and Mercury only having three brain cells between them and not being used to caring about someone else in a lovey-dovey sort of way. I got the idea when I was watching dance videos online and started remembering all those cheesy dance-themed teen movies from the 90’s and early 2000’s. It’s pretty much just a wholesome little meet-cute/will-they-won’t-they type school romance in that same vein, where Em and Merc are forced to team up out of necessity, start to fall for each other and then have to deal with all the awkwardness that ensues...all with a bunch of help from their extremely eccentric, meddling-ass friends who are all convinced that the two of them are either already dating or about to be and are trying to keep them both from getting their hearts broken lol
Whew! Guess that’s about it for now...I’d like to try and flesh this one out more and maybe even publish it as a legit fic one day, but first I’ve gotta get back to work on *signal lost*

Actions Speak Louder Than Words
Fair Game Week 2020: Day 2 - Date / Domestic
Read it on AO3 here.
Against his better judgement, he told Ruby, who then got Yang, Weiss, and Blake involved, that he was going on a date with Clover. He ended up spending the latter half of a day with them at what seemed like a million different shops. It was torture, but had to admit it was nice to spend some time with them outside of a life or death situation. He could once again see that his nieces had more … unique tastes. Ruby kept recommending outfits that were pretty cool, but were also too much for a date. Yang had her father’s fashion sense, of course, but unlike her father, she could pull it off. This meant that her choices weren’t particularly good for a date either. Qrow considers it a miracle Tai ever got any dates. Weiss and Blake fared much better in helping Qrow. Blake recommended more sensible outfits that he found more agreeable. Weiss’ recommendations were a bit more eccentric than Blake’s, but were still appropriate for a date. Sure, it was all a lot of fuss for what wasn’t even their first date, but Qrow did have fun, and the girls did get some new clothes too.
Qrow ended up getting a new pair of black slacks, a simple red and black leather vest, and a dark gray long sleeved shirt to wear under. While it wasn’t their first date, it was their first one to an actual restaurant and not the cafeteria or one of their rooms. Having the girls approve of the new outfit helped him feel more confident about what was probably their first real date. When Weiss asked what restaurant they were going to, he told her it was some place called “The City of Commerce”, which, according to Clover, was “nothing too fancy.” However, seeing her jaw drop when he told her made him concerned.
“Uhh, Weiss?” Ruby asked, trying to break her out of her stupor. She did shae herself out of it after a moment.
“Nothing fancy!? What does he do, eat with the gods everyday?! Forgive me,” she said, regaining her composure, “it’s just that it’s literally the most difficult restaurant to get into in Atlas. My father was on the waitlist for a year before he could make a reservation. My father. Head of the Schnee Dust Company. A year! We’ve only been here a few months!” Her expression shifted from crazed to that of someone who realized something. “Oh my gods were sending you dressed like that.”
“Come on Weiss, his outfit isn’t that bad.” said Yang. “Vests and slacks are fancy clothes, right?”
“No, Yang, you don’t get it. My coat was made from the fur of an extinct animal. My dress had cost more than what your dad will probably make in his lifetime, and that was just me. They almost didn’t let Winter in because they said her earrings didn’t match her outfit. They were purple diamonds from our mother that were cut to look like the Schnee logo and had a solid gold outline. They cost more than everything we have on us.” They all could only stare at Weiss in disbelief, and then at Qrow with concern. By that time, they were already back at the academy and all the shops were bound to be closed, and Qrow certainly didn’t have the time to get a fitted suit made. He considered asking James, but the man was built like a truck, so anything he had would be too big. He couldn’t call Clover because the man had a sleep schedule that he rigidly followed, and Qrow couldn’t bring himself to wake him up. Even worse, their reservation was in the morning, just as the place opened.
“I think it’ll be fine. If Clover had any concerns, he probably would have told you, right?” Blake said, breaking the dreadful silence, only to be met with more silence. “... Right?”
“I mean, she has a point. It’s Clover we’re talking about, the leader of the Ace Ops, General Ironwood’s right hand man, the man who will be hurt very badly if he breaks our uncle’s heart! He’s not gonna mess this up.” There were murmurs of agreement by the girls. Yang laid a hand on his shoulder and looked him in the eyes. “You’ll be fine Uncle Qrow.”
“Yeah, I guess I will Firecracker.” He gave her a little smile, which she returned in full.
“That’s what I like to hear!”
“I’d like to hear the sound of my head hitting a pillow if you ask me.” They laughed at his little joke.
“Alright, alright, we’ll get going. Good night Uncle Qrow.” said Yang.
“Good night Uncle Qrow!” said the rest of them as they went their way. Hearing Weiss and Blake call him that still seemed so surreal. Even Nora, Ren, and Jaune had started calling him that a while back too. At first, he would tell them to knock it off, and that he could hardly qualify as their uncle. Despite this, they persisted and he eventually gave up on getting them to stop, even though he still felt that it made no sense for them to be calling him such. Only recently did he see why they did think of him as their Uncle Qrow, and that was thanks to Clover. Clover helped him see that he did do a lot of good for those kids, and that they cared for him. Not to mention that Ren and Nora were orphans most of their life, so Qrow was probably one of the few adults to really care for them. The only adult, as far as he knew, that really cared for Weiss was Winter, but she could only be with Weiss for so long because of her job. He had a good feeling that Blake was gonna be his future niece-in-law, so he would probably have to get used to it eventually. As for Jaune, he couldn’t really think of any reason he could call him Uncle Qrow, save for the fact that was common among all the kids: they all cared for Qrow, just as he cared for them. At least now, he could accept that he wasn’t so undeserving of such love.
As Qrow laid down in bed, hair still somewhat moist from a shower, he hoped that the morning would turn out alright. Despite his talk with the kids earlier, there was still a nagging feeling of dread. It was fortunate that he was slowly but surely learning to ignore that irrational voice. Qrow knew that he was loved, and was deserving of love. He knew that Clover wouldn’t get something like this wrong either. Soon, he fell asleep, hopeful that tomorrow would be alright.
-
Qrow awoke early in the morning to get ready. It had been some time since he had been on a real date, and even longer he had been on one sober. It was exciting, but still very terrifying to him. He just didn’t want to mess things up, which he had felt he was prone to do because of his semblance. While Qrow had been making progress in controlling his semblance, which he was training with Clover to do, his control was not yet where he would like it to be. But, any sort of control was better than none, so Qrow wasn’t going to complain. If anything, he felt a bit proud of that growth, and that was in part because Clover was genuinely proud of him too. Qrow remembers the first time he showed some control over his semblance, and Clover congratulated him with his bright smile and a pat on the back. It was at that moment that Qrow realized that he was in love with the man. Coincidentally, Clover confessed to him a few days after and they had been dating since.
Before leaving his room, Qrow looked at himself in the mirror. His clothes that needed to be ironed were freshly ironed, free of any wrinkles, and fit his body rather well. His hair was gelled and styled nicely. Ever since Clover expressed how much he liked his gray hairs, Qrow had felt more confident about it. He could understand where Clover was coming from, since he found Clover’s gray hairs to be pretty hot too. He had also applied some eyeliner that Blake recommended. He mentally noted that he should stock up on some of that brand. Over all, Qrow was very pleased with how he looked. If there was anything he was ever confident about, it was his looks and fashion sense, and felt that the outfit really made him look good, especially since it displayed all his best assets well. As a last minute addition, he tied a green handkerchief around his neck. He checked himself out in the mirror one last time and left his room feeling very good and satisfied, and made his way down to the front of the academy where Clover had texted him a taxi would be waiting.
Qrow was the first to arrive and waited just inside of the Academy for Clover. It was too cold to be waiting outside, especially in the morning. Qrow was too eager to be doing much else, so he stared at the elevator, waiting for his date to pop out, which happened soon after he sat down. With a ding, the elevator doors opened and revealed Clover. He was wearing light grey pants that were tucked into black boots, and a green sweater vest that was textured with an interweaving pattern. The sweater vest, which had his signature pin tacked on, was a surprise, but the real kicker was that Clover only wore a white collared tank top underneath, with the collar flipped up and open, rather than folded flat and closed. And of course, this left his arms showing, with his red handkerchief showing on one arm.
Qrow wasn’t sure what he expected Clover to wear, but it wasn’t an outfit like that. The pants and boots were normal enough, but the top was just questionable. Normally, he would have been heavily judging the outfit, but Clover somehow made it work. Qrow had almost felt ashamed for finding it hot. If Summer were here, she would have had to hold back a laugh because the outfit was ridiculous and Qrow was ridiculous for finding the simple outfit hot.
“Hey there hot stuff.” said Clover as he exited the elevator. All Qrow could do was stare at Clover, his mind dissonant because he couldn’t decide if he liked the outfit or not. But, the more he looked, the more he liked it, though that just could have been because Clover was wearing the outfit. Oh the things people do for love. “Based on your reaction, I guess I’m hot stuff too.” Clover gave Qrow a kiss on the cheek, which managed to bring Qrow back to reality.
“Sorry, I just realized that it's my first time seeing you in a normal outfit. It looks pretty good on you. Besides, its definitely a lot better than the outfit of some snobby Atlesian.”
“Ha! At least someone can appreciate my fashion sense.” Clover told him half jokingly, with his arm around Qrow’s as they walked to the taxi. “Seriously, you have no idea how often I get told I have a terrible sense of fashion.” As they got to the taxi, Clover opened the door for Qrow with an “After you.” and bow. Clover could see a light blush rising in his love’s face.
“You know just how to make a guy feel special, don't you?”
“Only for the best.” Of course, Clover winked. As he was getting in, he noticed that Qrow’s lap looked very enticing. He could see himself sitting in Qrow’s lap, one leg over the other and his arms wrapped around Qrow who would be adorably flustered. But, decided that a car probably wasn’t the best place to do that.
“Clover? Can I talk to you, from one ten to another?” Qrow asked once they settled down.
“You’re an eleven, but yes, you can.” Qrow wondered how Clover could possibly be so smooth.
“Okay, we're both hot, and I’m at least conventionally fashionable, right?”
“Right.” Clover responded.
“So, I’m curious, why that outfit?”
“Hmm… If I’m being honest, its the most formal clothing I have, besides my uniform. A sweater vest is the most formal I can get while still not wearing sleeves. Ugh.”
“What do you have against sleeves, lucky charm?” Qrow made sure to put emphasis on his sleeves. Seeing Clover laugh at the display made him laugh as well.
“If you must know my dark history with sleeves, its that I find them too constricting.”
“Damn, I wonder why.” He noticed that Qrow was looking at his arms.
“Don't patronize them Qrow. They've got a sleeve count higher than your grimm count. Before the end of my first week in the academy, none of my shirts had sleeves.” Clover gave a jokingly wistful look, as if he mourned the sleeves. Qrow hates Atlas, and couldn’t have been paid to attend its academy, but if he were forced to, he imagines it would have at least been somewhat tolerable if he were with Clover.
“And here I thought my fashion mishap during my first week at Beacon was bad.” Qrow silently cursed the can of worms he had opened, and by the look on Clover’s face, his expression had shown his regret. For a moment, they were silent.
“... So, you gonna tell me what it was?” Clover asked. Qrow kept his head facing forward, cause he knew that if he turned to face Clover, he could not resist giving in. However, Clover was too strong, and Qrow gave in, looked at his cute face, and sighed.
“Alright, alright, you win. My sister tricked me into thinking that skirts were a part of the uniform for everyone, so I was stuck with only skirts to wear for my first week.” Qrow expects to hear a laugh, but doesn’t.
“That must have been quite the sight. Makes me wish I went to Beacon instead.” And of course, Qrow noticed Clover eyeing his legs, though Qrow certainly didn't mind. Before they could continue their conversation, the vehicle came to a stop and their driver alerted them that they reached their destination. Qrow quickly got out as Clover got out his wallet to give the driver a tip. He appeared on the other side of the car and opened the door for Clover.
“You know just how to make a guy feel special, don't you?”
“Only for the best.” said Qrow with a wink of his own. It warmed his heart to make Clover blush and laugh a little. Arm in arm, they walked towards the entrance of the restaurant. Once inside, Qrow remembered all the stuff Weiss had told him, and he was filled with dread. Clover immediately picked up on this and asked what was wrong.
“Weiss told me about this place, and it sounded harsh.” Qrow could feel himself beginning to sweat.
“Oh, about the dress code and wait list and all that? Yeah, I don't have to worry about that. I saved the owner’s children from a grimm some time ago. They let me make a reservation the day before and bypass the dress code. I also get fifty percent off the food. Lucky me huh? Oh, and don’t worry about being in all … that.” he said, motioning to all the snobbish Atlesians. “I got us a private booth.”
“Ooo, lucky us.” They both laughed.
“Reservation for Ebi, Clover.” he told the receptionist.
“Ah, yes. You again.” His words held the slightest bit of disgust. “Please take a seat, we will call you shortly.” Clover, ignoring the receptionist's distaste, noticed that there was only one seat available, and immediately hatched a clever play.
“You can take the chair Qrow.”
“What about you?” Qrow asked, unaware of the other man’s plan.
“I’ll be fine. If I’m lucky, a seat will open up soon for me.” Qrow only gave a chuckle as he took the seat. A moment after he sat, Clover said “Found one.” and proceeded to sit right in Qrow’s lap. Just as planned, Qrow short-circuited into a blushing mess. He was quick to recover his mind, but there was nothing he could do about the blush. “Oh! I’m sorry. Is this seat taken?” He asked as he patted one of Qrow’s thighs as if it were an empty seat.
“I was saving it for my boyfriend, but I guess you’ll do.” Qrow replied, trying to hide his embarrassment but unable to.
“You have a boyfriend? He must be a very lucky guy to have a man like you.”
“You could say that.”
“Your table is ready, sirs.” the receptionist made no effort to hide how done he was. They both got up.
“Looks like my date isn’t here yet. Wanna join me instead baby?” And in an act of revenge, he winked. Now it was Clover’s turn to try to hide a blush. Qrow was out for blood, and his weapon was pet names. Regardless, Clover tried to still act cool as they followed their waiter to their table.
“How could I say no no a face like that. I feel bad for the unlucky guy that didn’t show up.” He managed to get Qrow to laugh again. He wouldn’t trade the little moments like those for the world. As they walked and talked, they noticed people turning their heads to stare at the two men who stood out so much. Soon, they were at the back of the dimly lit restaurant where there was a booth that had a thick purple silk curtain for privacy. Inside was a decently sized round table with a lit candle in the center that gave off an almost divine scent. The curved seating allowed them to sit next to each other. The waiter left them with their menus and gave them a device to notify the waiter when they were ready.
“So, Clover, you’ve been here before. What’s good?”
“Literally everything Qrow. This place is six out of five stars. They even serve just about anything, as long its classy or exotic. That’s why this place is called The City of Commerce. They have all kinds of foods from all over Remnant, though the embargo has made things a bit tougher to get, this place manages somehow. I think they stockpile stuff, or grow it all themselves somewhere around here.”
“Or maybe they smuggle it.”
“That’s a possibility.”
“What do you usually get?”
“Fish, though I try to try a different kind each time.”
“Hmm, I think I’ll try the … I can't even pronounce this, but It looks good.”
“Oh gods I’m not even going to try either. It does look good though.” They both continued to search and read through their menu, showing each other some mouth-watering food that looked like it was made by the gods. Eventually, Qrow reached the desserts, and was left in awe of a certain dish.
“By the brothers...”
“What is it?” Clover questioned, intrigued by what could prompt such a response.
“Is it bad if I have dessert for breakfast?” Qrow asked, still staring at the menu in awe.
“I’m not gonna judge you. I would come alone to the most expensive restaurant in the world just to have some fish. Besides, it’s our day off. We should have some fun.” Qrow still hadn’t looked up from the menu. “You know what?” Clover shut his menu. “I’ll have what you're having.” Clover activated the device and gave the waiter, who appeared almost instantly, their order “What is it anyways?” Qrow flipped his menu, which the waiter let them keep in case they wanted anything more, over to show him. It looked kind of like a fancy layered dark chocolate cake and nothing more.
“It’s made from a rare plant that’s only in season for a few months every few years. It’s not like anything you’ve ever tasted before. I think you’ll like it.”
“Color me intrigued. It certainly looks good.” Cloer hoped that he would like it. It was rare to see Qrow so excited over something, so he didn’t want to disappoint him
“Oh, you're gonna love it. If there’s anything good that came out of that tribe, it’s that dessert.”
“And you.” Clover reminded him. If someone had told Clover that he was going to fall in love with the greatest huntsman alive and go on an actual date with him, he would tell that person that he wasn’t that lucky. Yet, here he was, and Clover couldn’t be more grateful to be loved by the great Qrow Branwen.
“Alright, and me.” Qrow had to admit that Clover’s constant insisting that he was a great man was working on him. He did feel really good. After chatting, laughing, sipping on their drinks, and eating the complementary biscuits, their order finally arrived.
“It looks even better in person.”
“It’ll taste even better than it looks. Take a bite! I wanna see your face when you try it!” Qrow was visibly excited to share one of the few good parts of his past with Clover.
“Don’t worry, I am.” Clover got his fork and took a piece of the moist slice. Immediately, his eyes widened. He swallowed the piece and told Qrow “Oh my gods this is so good.” He immediately took another bite, savoring the flavor and texture this time. He looked at Qrow as he took his first bite of the slice of cake. “Is it as good as you remember?” he asked.
“Oh yeah, definitely. Maybe even better.”
“Lucky you, huh?” Qrow replied with a small laugh. They continued to enjoy being in each other’s presence as they ate. However, Clover noticed a wistful look on Qrow’s face. “What’s wrong Qrow?”
“Hmm? Oh, nothing. This old bird is just being sentimental.” Qrow said as he looked down at the cake slice.
“Want to talk about it?” Clover asked as he took another bite.
“I was just thinking about when I was in the tribe. Looking back, it was pretty bad, but it wasn’t all bad, you know. I guess I just miss the small things like this, back when me and Raven were younger and close. But, that’s all in the past. I’ve got better things now, like the kids, you, … this cake.”
“Aww, Qrow.” Clover knew that he shouldn't be surprised that Qrow thought so well of him, all things considered, but he was still caught off guard. Sure, he had received tons of compliments before, but they were superficial more often than not. However, this complement was very genuine, and from the man he could say with confidence that he loved.
“Don’t be going soft on me now Lucky Charm.”
“I think I can afford to be a little soft when I’m on a date with my boyfriend.”
“Hmph, if you say so.” Qrow replied, his own expression also soft.
“But, speaking of cake, how about we see if we can get a full cake to take back with us. We can share it with the kids, and make some new memories.”
“That … sounds nice. I’d like that.” Qrow noticed that Clover was lovingly gazing at him, obviously enamored. Qrow knew that he wasn’t a lucky man, but if the universe had ever given him any compensation for his bad luck, he knew that it was Clover. “Hey, Clover?”
“Yes?” he responded. His head on one of his hands as he still stared lovingly at his boyfriend.
“I just want to say thanks. For all these past months. You’ve helped me out a lot, and stuff. So, uh, thanks. Again.” Before Clover could respond, Qrow moved in for a kiss on the lips. It was not a short kiss, nor a long one, but it was still intimate nonetheless. “Love you.” Qrow could see that Clover was somewhat surprised. “I’m not the best with words, so-” He was cut off by Clover gently pulling him in closer for a slower, longer, and passionate kiss.
“I love you too Qrow.”

Silence in Atlas (30/30)
I did it. After so long I did it. I really hope you like this. SIA has been one hell of a ride and it is, as I post this final chapter, the first fanfiction I have every finished. I hope it made the hiatus more bearable to you as it did for me. I want to finish it before V7 aired but that clearly didn't happen jajaja. Yet here we are. Thank you so much for reading. I'd love to read what you think of this finale or if there is something I missed.
--------------
Blake woke up before Yang did. She wasn’t sweating cold and she wasn’t shivering. For the first time since she had been taken she hadn’t had one of those vivid nightmares. Deep breath. The blonde was facing her way, her left arm wrapped around her waist. They were both naked and the realization made her blush. She recalled the night before and couldn’t believe how bold she had been. She had hoped that intimacy wouldn’t trigger her if she was the one on the giving end. It worked. The sound of Yang moaning her name in ecstasy was so clear in her head that it turned her on.
She tried to sit up but found her legs tangled with Yang’s in a way that would definitely wake her girlfriend up if she moved. The blonde’s face looked so peaceful. Blake closed her eyes and leaned in, resting her head on the crook of the other girl’s neck. She could get used to this. It was the closest she had ever felt to paradise.
“You awake?” Yang’s voice caught her by surprise and her eyes shot open as she looked up. Amber met lilac once more. She moved up and kissed her girlfriend on the lips. “I’ve been awake for a while” the blonde admitted. “But I really like being like this”. Blake smiled and kissed her girlfriend once more. She couldn’t tell what time it was and she didn’t care. They could stay like that forever for what she cared. Several minutes went by and they both started to drift back to sleep when they were interrupted by a familiar sound. Yang’s scroll lit up, Ruby’s face on the screen. They exchanged a concerned look as the blonde moved to answer the call.
“Ruby?” she said as soon as the scroll was pressed against her ear.
“Hey, sis” the younger sibling said, her tone cheerful as always. Still, Yang could feel something was wrong.
“How are things in Vacuo?” the blonde asked.
“Well… A little intense. We fought off a pretty impressive amount of Grimm yesterday and today their numbers were still...” her tone suddenly changed. “We need you and Blake”
“Ruby… We are…”
“I know she’s healing. I know you are too. I know you need time but you deserve to know what is happening. I… I need you with me too, Yang”
“I know, little sis” she replied. Blake stared at her, confused about the interaction her girlfriend was having with the silver eyed girl. “I’ll talk to her about it. We’ll try to be ready as soon as possible”. The truth was she didn’t know if Blake was ready to go back to their mission. She didn’t even know if that was possible at all after everything she had been through. She made no promises but she knew her little sister needed her as well.
“Thanks… I love you” Ruby said.
“I love you too” Yang replied before ending the call. Amber eyes looked at her with a question in them. “She says things are pretty rough and…” Yang considered lying. She knew Blake would want to leave for Vacuo as soon as she heard the truth. A part of her wanted to remain in the beautiful bubble they were living in, simply enjoying each other. Still, something hurt inside her. She knew they had to go back an finish the mission. They needed them. Her sister needed them. “She asked me if we could go with them”.
Blake’s eyes opened wide and a shiver ran down her spine. She was afraid she wasn’t ready to get back in action. She didn’t feel like it: she’d have nightmares almost every night and clicking sounds would still feel like electricity ran through her body. However, she knew it was their duty to stop Salem. They had taken the mission and they had to go through with. She wanted to. She wanted to help. But, could she? The faunus pointed at herself, then she the bent her index finger and pointed down. Finally she touched her wrist with the tip of her finger.
“Ok” Yang said almost in a whisper. “We’ll wait a bit more”.
Two days passed and things were simply beautiful. They’d get up late in the morning, have breakfast, make love and tour Atlas. Some people would make disgusting comments about them. A waiter in a small restaurant refused to serve them and called Yang a zoophiliac. However, this time, Yang didn’t lose her temper.
“You are a sad little lonely man” the blonde had told the waiter as she and Blake left to look for a better place to have lunch. It was hard not to get angry but she had learnt making a scene wasn’t something her girlfriend liked. So she took a couple a deep breaths and calmed herself. Still, as they exited through the establishment’s door, she waited for the faunus to turn her back so she could give the waiter the finger.
When the third day arrived Blake woke up after having a beautiful dream about her and her girlfriend and something in her told her it was time. She was still not back to her old self but she was good enough. When Yang woke up the faunus stared at her with words in her eyes. The blonde sighted and smiled sadly.
“It’s time isn’t it?” Yang asked as she held Blakes hand tightly in hers. The black haired girl nodded. “Let’s go tell Ironwood. He’ll know how to get us to Vacuo”.
---------------
“It’s so good to see you!” Weiss said as she embraced Blake. The faunus hugged her back. It was really good to be with the rest of their team again. They were staying at Shade Academy’s dorms and it gave her some sense of calm. It reminded her of beacon. It was around two in the morning and there were no stars in the sky.
“I’m so happy you could get here so fast” Ruby added, giving Yang a knowing look.
“It was becoming pretty clear that you simply can’t do without us” the blonde joked. The group laughed. She looked calm but it was just a facade. Deep down she was scared shitless. There was no way of knowing what their mission was going to throw at them. She was terrified it would be something Blake wouldn’t be able to handle.
“We’ll brief you on everything in the morning. Now let’s get you both to your room” Qrow said, placing a hand on Yang’s shoulder.
“Yeah, it's pretty late and you must be tired” Nora’s voice made its way into the hall. Jaune and Ren were behind her.
There were many hugs and many smiles before all of them headed towards their respective bedrooms. In the end it was only Ruby and Weiss that accompanied Blake and Yang to their room. The first thing they noticed once they were insided was that there was a single full sized bed. They both smiled and blushed at each other. They would sleep together just like they had for the last weeks in Atlas. Maybe they could be all right.
---------------
Living in Patch once more gave Yang a feeling of peace she had not felt in a while. Waking up with Blake at her side everyday was the greatest joy she could feel. After battling Salem and saving Remnant they deserved to be happy. They deserved peace and quiet. Her girlfriend was still mute but she knew Doctor Yu and other experts were looking for a solution. Meanwhile they had mastered sign language, something that actually became handy during their mission, mostly when they need to be quiet and discrete.
It was a regular morning and the blonde had gotten up early to make breakfast. Blake wasn’t really good in the kitchen and Yang loved to cook. It was the perfect arrangement. She was making pancakes when her scroll lit up. Weiss’s face appeared on the screen. She picked up.
“Hi Weiss, what’s up?” she said. Almost as soon as she did the white haired girl answered with a surprisingly upbeat tone.
“Go get Blake and put us on speaker right now”
“Us?” the blonde asked.
“Hi, sis!” Ruby’s voice was full of excitement. “Go get her right now”
She did as she was told, entering their room with the scroll on her hand. The faunus was sitting on the bed, a book in her hands. Her hair was still a mess.
“It’s Weiss and Ruby” she said, pointing at her phone. The faunus nodded and left her book on the bed, inching towards the edge to sit down next to her girlfriend. “Okay, guys, we are both listening”
“He did it” the former heiress said. “Doctor Yu and his team are ready to act. They found a way to get Blake’s voice back”
Silence. Three seconds of absolute silence. The concept took a while to land in both of their heads. For the longest time they had forgotten, or perhaps ignored, the fact that Blake could someday get her voice back. Neither of them wanted to have high hopes only to be met with disappointment. They had had enough of that already. Their normal wasn’t so bad at all. Still, there was a part of Yang that prayed every night that the medical team would finally be able to help Blake. She wanted to be able to hear her voice again. Some days she would listen to voice notes in her scroll that Blake had sent so she wouldn’t forget how she sounded. Whenever the faunus told her something in sign language she tried to recreate her voice in her mind. She’d give anything to help her. Now, if Weiss was to be believed, there was an actual chance to heal Blake.
“What?” was the only word that left Yang’s mouth “Are you serious?”
“Yes, yes, yes” Ruby replied. “Get your butts to Atlas as soon as you can”
“We’ll get there tomorrow” the blonde answered, tears forming at the edges of her eyes. They said their goodbyes and she hanged up. Was this real? Had that call actually happened? Yang turned to see her girlfriend and her heart stopped at the sight she was met with.
Blake didn’t look happy at all. Her mouth was open and her eyes wide in shock. She was breathing heavily. Her mind was suddenly filled with memories she would rather not revisit. The Traders. Aleph. Yudok. Names that she tried to forget with everything she had. Blake did her best to ignore that fact that she was mute. She and Yang could communicate perfectly with signs and that was enough. Things worked. Now she could be cured of that horrible thing they had done to her. Now she could be fixed and not be broken. All those thoughts had sent her back in time.
“Baby are you okay?” Yang said as she gently placed her hand on her girlfriend’s knee. Blake was shivering. With her other hand she moved the other girl’s head so they were looking into each other’s eyes. Deep breath. “It’s okay” the blonde said almost in a whisper and the echo of Agape’s voice appeared in the faunus’ mind. It would be over soon. Not being able to speak was always a reminder of that happened to her with the traders. She had gotten used to it and sign language made it easier to deal with the situation and ignore her condition. Still, she dreamt of getting her voice back. She wanted to tell her girlfriend how much she loved her. She wanted to have a chance at normal once again.
“Blake?”
Yang almost fell backwards when her girlfriend launched at her and hugged her, placing her face in the crook of her neck. She was crying, a raspy noise coming out of her mouth. They held each other for a while until Blake was able to calm down. Once she did the blonde moved back and kissed her. Her stomach filled with butterflies. They stared at each other, having mastered wordless communication a long time ago.
“Let’s do this” the blonde said as she kissed her girlfriend on the lips.
-----------
The procedure was really simple. They would replace Blake’s broken vocal chords with artificial ones. They were custom made, specially designed for the specific kind of damage that was done to her. It was actually nice to see doctor Yu again. She would always be thankful to him for taking care of Blake. However, waiting at the very same room where she waited so many times a year and a half ago wasn’t really nice.
After a couple of hours Doctor Yu opened the door into the waiting room, his face looked so very tired. For a moment Yang feared the operation wasn’t successful. She feared all of this was pointless. If this failed was there any chance Blake would talk again? What if something severe had happened during the surgery? All the negative thoughts echoed in her mind as she stood up to meet the doctor.
“Could you do it? Did it work?” was all she could say as she walked towards the man.
“We think it did. We’ll have to wait for her to come out of the anesthesia. But I am pretty sure we did it” he said with a smile. The blonde couldn’t control herself and inched closer to give Yu a hug.
“Thank you so much”
“You are very welcome”.
Blake was asleep on her room when she walked in. Just like she had done back then she placed a chair next to the bed and sat down. After a while she fell asleep, half her body sprawled over the mattress.
Blake woke up with a sore throat. She looked around the hospital room, memories rushing in. Deep breath. She looked to her side and saw a certain blonde totally asleep at her side. She smiled.
“Yang” she said and the sound of her own voice surprised her. It wasn’t loud, more like a whisper, a little bit raspy, but she had actually said a word. “Yang!” she repeated a little bit louder, moving the alluded one lightly with one hand. The blonde raised her head from the bed, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hands.
“You awake, babe?” she said.
“Yes” Blake replied. It took her girlfriend about three seconds to fully comprehend what was going on, sleep still present in her eyes. Then the realization hit her.
“IT WORKED!” she exclaimed as she stood up “You can talk!”
“Yes” the faunus replied “It feels a little bit weird but… I can” there were tears at the corners of her eyes that started running through her cheeks incessantly. It had been so long since she had heard her own voice.
“BLESS DOCTOR YU!” the blonde said, half joking half serious. She sat once again, looking Blake in the eyes.
“I love you” she smiled into the words. She could finally say it. She could finally tell her girlfriend how she felt. She had waited a year and a half to say those words for the first time. They sounded so good.
“I love you too” the blonde replied.
When their lips collided together it was like this was their very first kiss. Yang placed her mechanical hand on Blake’s cheek. The faunus grasped it with hers as she deepened the gesture. When it ended they both leaned in, their foreheads touching. In that moment their love was the strongest force in the world and they felt in their hearts that nothing could ever break them apart.

Lasting Embers part27: Winding down
The fifth day of final family bonding is in full effect. Midday sun shines down on Tenzen’s back yard where him and both his parents currently are. Friday’s were usually days when they decided to use the grill so why change up the tradition now? Might as well go a bit grander than usual, which is exactly what they did.
Mercury:*flipping burgers* Thanks for the invitation you two. It’s nice to have a moment of peace.
Emerald:Not to mention good food. Constantly going around the world is fun and all but you do not always end up near good restaurants.
Nora:*wearing an apron* No problem you two. The food would be better if Ren was helping but as you can see.....
Tenzen:*fully powered and standing still*
Ren:*watching him*
Nora:He’s busy at the moment.
Emerald:I don’t mind the light show. It’s actually kinda pretty.
Orange and pink aura flow upward into the air as usual when his semblance is in use. The added effect of lightning of the same color crackles calmly around his body thanks to his close and once again his usual appearance has had a color swap. Nora honestly thinks the pink hair with an orange strip looks better on him. Not to mention his orange eyes.
Mercury:You know it might be a good idea to change your semblance name before you go to beacon and everyone sees it.
Tenzen:What’s wrong with Overflow? It’s literally what my aura is doing.
Mercury:Yeah but is it cool? There’s other things you could call it to make it slightly cooler. Like Over Soul....
Nora:Limit Break!
Emerald:Soul Surge.....
Ren:Oooo that’s a good one.
Tenzen:Hey! I thought you were gonna be on my side?
Ren:It was just a thought. You ready to attempt your new move?
Tenzen:*shakes out his arms and legs* All right, let’s see if I’ve improved.
He takes a deep breath and puts his hands together. Slowly his aura stops flowing up and starts concentrating itself behind him. Everybody watches intently as it starts to take the shape of a silhouetted version of himself. It increases in a size a bit bigger than him and starts moving independently before fading away. Sweat drips down the poor boys face.
Ren:You got it to move and last longer this time.
Tenzen:*huff* Yeah but it isn’t near perfect yet. Man....*huff* I usually don’t have too much trouble with aura manipulation.
Ren:Nobody has ever done anything like you are right now. I’m learning new things just by watching you.
Mercury:Uhh what did I just see? It was almost like seeing monkey boy’s semblance but more intense.
Nora:Tenzen as exceptional aura control and can use it ways most people can’t thanks to his semblance. He’s moved it around freely in small ways like wrapping it around people for protection or to grab them. Now he’s actually trying to mold it into things.
Mercury:So you choose yourself?
Tenzen:It’s both the easiest and most complex thing I can think of right now. After that maybe I could get crazy with it.
Mercury:.....
Mercury:You gave yourself a Stand.....
Tenzen:Why would you say something like that..?
Emerald:As far as semblances go I think Tenzen might have the weirdest I’ve ever seen. I mean your aura seems boundless yet you still run out like everyone else.
Tenzen:I like to think of it sort of like a stamina bar. Let’s say my regular bar reaches up to 100% and my aura ranges in between that number and zero. My semblance breaks that cap and makes my aura amount 500%. Yeah it gives me way more to work with but instead of my semblance just eating away at my aura, it eats away at the bar itself. So when it’s all said and done, I can end up with a bar that can only hold 25%
Emerald:Sounds tricky; you’ll end up only being able to take minimum damage if that happens. Is that what happened in the woods?
Tenzen:Basically, I’m surprised what aura I had held up against me falling from the cliff. What makes things scarier is I knew even with Jaune around to use his semblance it wouldn’t help much. We’ve tested it before and it would restore the aura but not the bar; that only comes back with time.
Mercury:Yet despite all of that you rushed in to save everyone. Risky move but respectable.
Nora:Please don’t make that habit.....
Tenzen:Mmmm no promises. *smiles*
Nora:*grumbles* Why are you like me?
Ren:Alright, you seem like you still have more than enough power to attempt your other move.
Tenzen:*Grinning* Oh we’re way pass me “attempting” it. I was actually going to try it in training but then all the cult shenanigans happened.
Emerald:(Shenanigans, he makes it sound like it’s not the craziest thing in the world. Well....it kinda isn’t but still)
Once a again he takes a calming breath before bending his right arm and stares at his hand. Aura and lightning dust travel down to his palm until his hand is engulfed in it.
Tenzen:Done.....
Ren:How!? When did you- *smiles* it took me forever how to influence my aura with dust. You really are a genius at this stuff.
Tenzen:Well it helps I have the best teacher ever. *powers down*
Nora:Wow, I see how it is. Not like we spent countless nights together sparring and perfecting that together.
Tenzen:That’s because you’re the best mom ever. *hugs her* I love you!!!!!
Nora:I love you too my little ninja.
“You still go by little ninja?”
Everyone turns to see Yujin walking into the backyard. She has a white sack over her shoulder.
Yujin:Sup sherbet head.
Tenzen:First of all, that nickname can die. Second, why are you here?
Yujin:Want me to leave?
Tenzen:I didn’t say that at all. Just surprised is all.
Yujin:Home is a little.....lonely. I tell dad to spend time with Yang and sitting on my porch gets old. So I thought “why not go see Tenzen?”
Tenzen:*smirks* So you’re here for me?
Yujin:*red* Don’t make this weird.
Ren:Well obviously you are welcomed here anytime.
Mercury:Too bad you didn’t bring any food to this little cookout.
Yujin:*pulls chips out the bag* I know how Friday’s work around here.
Mercury:New favorite person right here. Besides Emerald of course.
Emerald:Nice save dork.
Yujin:I hate to ask but is there any chance I can inspect all of your weapons?
Tenzen:*squints* I know your game.....
Yujin:*nervous* Pfft what game?
Tenzen:Did you come here to socialize or get weapon ideas?
Yujin:.......Can’t it be both?
Tenzen:Will it?
Yujin:*grabs his arms* Let me tinker around with my weapon please? If I have one more emotional conversation I might fall apart. Do you want me to fall apart in your backyard? I’ve learned to cry really easily the pass five days. I’m holding back tears right now man!
Tenzen:......
Yujin:*tearing up*....
Tenzen:Oh you weren’t joking! Uhh fine, just-
Yujin:Thanks!
Just like that she emptied what was left in the bag to reveal a sketch pad and some intricate tools for salvaging whatever she can from her sword. By the time he looked back up at her she had her hair in a ponytail and glasses on.
Yujin:I already know where you guys keep all your weapons so....*darts off*
Emerald:How does she know that?
Tenzen:Don’t ask me. Maybe her real semblance is sniffing out weapons. At least she’s happy.
Nora:How has she been about all this? Her face looks kinda paler than usual. Also a bit thinner?
Tenzen:She actually looked worse a few days ago.Looks like things are getting a bit better but I’m worried it might not stick. After all, leaving day is soon. That’s gonna hard on her.
Nora:Don’t forget yourself....
Brief silence comes after that statement. All adults looking at him sadly as he just looks at the ground for a moment. The mood changes though when he raises his head with a smile.
Tenzen:I’ll be just fine! Sure I’ll miss all you guys but honestly school might keep me busy and you all will be back before I know it. I am looking at some of the most capable fighters in Remnant after all.
Mercury:*wraps arm around him and Emerald* Thanks kid, the cult won’t know what hit em!
Emerald:Hell yeah! *all three laughing*
Nora:*frowning at Ren*.....
Ren:I know. He’s not gonna talk about it though. I’ve tried everything.
Nora......!!! We’re not completely out of options yet. I gonna go check on Yujin.
Ren:Please don’t be pushy.
Nora:Mmmmm no promises. *smiles*
Inside Yujin was having a field day. Her house was nothing quite like there’s seeing how the entire building actually uses to house other people like an apartment studio. Now different floors have different functions. Their living room and kitchen were connected on the first floor since it was more than big enough. The spiral staircase upstairs led upstairs to a hallway with rooms for four people which she always found weird. Two of course were their rooms and at best a third round would occupy Merc and Em. Maybe the fourth room was for her or Jaune if they visited? She could not imagine sleeping under the same roof as Tenzen; especially with what happened recently. There was a final door upstairs that obviously was the restroom.
Nora:Hey Yujin can we have a minute to chat!?
Yujin:I’m on the dance floor!
Nora:*going upstairs* You know we do more than dance up here right?
Yujin:I know, but anytime Tenzen sends a video of him doing a routine it’s in here.
She was setting on the floor with her sketch pad. Different designs of everyone’s weapons over the years were set in front of her.
Nora:Woah, you found all of them.
Yujin:From Beacon days, the fall, Salem quest modifications, post Salem, etc. they are all so similar but different. I’m hoping one of these will spark an idea. Transforming weapons was never my finest skill set. Made too many moving parts or not enough to help. *Sketching*
Nora:Turning a sword into gauntlets sounds rough. Why not just make gauntlets with hidden blades.
Yujin:My sword skills depend on me being to do things like twirl it and hold it backhanded sometimes. Merging the two limits that. I need to find away to fluidly transition in between them. The way Ren’s blade retract in is giving me a few ideas but not much.
Nora:(I don’t think I’ve seen so many sketches for one weapon since Jaune tried to change his.)
Yujin:Maybe I should forget the gauntlets all together? Sigh, not like they’ve been useful.... *slumps shoulders*
Nora:....Are you-
Yujin:It’ll pass, don’t worry about me. *keeps sketching*
Nora:Yujin I have a favor to ask you.
Yujin:Sure thing Mrs.Valkyrie.
Nora:You know you can just call me Nora?
Yujin:I know, but I like saying your last name since it’s cool.
Nora:*smiles* I would say call me Auntie but that might be weird since you’re crushing on my son.
The pencil breaks as she accidentally put too much pressure on it. Why is she always getting caught off guard like this? It’s like the entire world is trying to make her deal with at least one emotional problem a day. Blood rushes to her face and her ears turn red as memories from two days ago surface.
Yujin:I....*mumbles* Tenzen is just a friend....
Nora:I wonder how many times I said that about Ren? Admitting it helps a lot you know? *smirking* I’m not saying go confront him about it; I realize how much of a flirt my wild child is. Personally I blame all his fans.
Yujin:I cannot tell you how many people I see wearing a shirt with his mask on it. “Nobody dances like TZ!” It’s like everyone goes a bit crazy for him and they don’t even know him.
Nora:His personality and energy are very infectious. A people pleaser like him knows how to keep spirits up. That’s actually why I wanted to talk to you.
Yujin:???
Nora:It might not be noticeable but Tenzen also has his hangs up like you.
Yujin:Really? He seems fine and calm about most things that happen. It honestly makes me a bit jealous seeing him handle stress so well.
Nora:He gets that from his father. Still he has them for sure. My son is just the type to put his problems on the back burner and prioritize everyone else. Problem is he never takes a moment to himself and faces them until it’s a bit late.
Yujin:Huh, I had no idea. Actually, the other day I did mention how much I admired how strong he was compared to me in situations and he was about to say something until he got cut off. Can’t say if it was about his problems but he did seem....sad.
Nora:Listen, I doubt he’ll tell anyone how he feels about everything going right now but I do know they’ll come out eventually when it’s too late. Can you just make sure to check in on him sometimes when we leave? I want him to have a person to talk to when he needs it.
Yujin:Oh of course! Can’t say I can really picture him needing my help much but I’ll be there.
Nora:*smiles* That’s a relief. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if he suffered in silence after we left. My heart wouldn’t take it.
Yujin:......Nora, you’re a good mom.
Nora:Yang is better, or at least in my opinion.
Yujin:Agree to disagree.
Nora:Not even going to entertain this conversation huh?
Yujin:Not in the slightest.
..........
Nora:.........It’s not really my place to pry but I hope you know she loves you and right now the things you’re doing are really hurting her-
Yujin:She’s hurt me my whole life!
The entire room echoes with that yell. Nora just stares calmly as the girls anger quickly vanishes as it came.
Yujin:Sorry I.....I didn’t mean to yell at you. That was wrong.
Nora:It happens. *grabs her hand*
Yujin:Why does it feel like people are taking sides? *trembling* The way everyone keeps praising her and just wants me forgive makes it feel like I’m wrong for acting this way. Everyone seems to be on her side while I’m just alone.
Nora:Trust me when I say nobody thinks you’re wrong for being upset. It’s just we know Yang and that she is doing everything she can and more for you. We want you to see that. Leaving you a second time is killing her but sometimes hard choices have to be made. Even if that choice feels wrong. You know about Pyrrha right?
Yujin:Of course, without her I might not even be here.
Nora: For a long time her sacrifice didn’t feel like the right call. Going off to a fight she couldn’t win felt like nothing but a waste; especially to Jaune. Looking back on it though we couldn’t have been more wrong. Pyrrha gave people precious time to keep evacuating and Ruby might not have found out about her powers without her help. That dragon certainly would’ve done more harm.
Yujin:.....
Nora:I’m not saying you have to forgive your mother right now. But I do hope that one day you can look back at all this and take some sort of pride from the fact that she’s doing it to protect everyone; including you most of all. By the way *smiles* I think the gauntlet part of your weapon is one of the coolest parts.
Yujin:Nora, can I ask you for something? It’s...*red* a bit strange. You’re not my mom but.....I mean I would like it if you-
Nora calmly pulls her into a hug. Allowing the girl to just rest into her embrace. Her heart rate starts to speed up and her breath a little heavy. She’s crying into Nora’s shirt heavily with no signs of stopping.
Yujin:How’d you know?
Nora:It’s all I ever wanted as a kid too.
Yujin:The worst part about this feeling is it won’t last. You’re leaving too.
Nora:*tightens hug*(You poor child. )
[Tai’s house]
Ruby:Downloading and uploading countless videos across different scrolls and onto a computer is one thing. Putting those files in chronological order, making sure they aren’t corrupted and then onto a scroll with enough space is an entirely different ball game. People who use computers for a living have my respect.
Jaune:You can take a break if you want. We still have two days left.
Ruby:*holds up scroll* I’m done. Do we have coffee?
Jaune:What!?
Ruby:Coffee, I’ve been up for a full day doing this. I would like-
Jaune:You finished with two days to spare? Ruby that’s-
Ruby:I know, “Ruby you’re so amazing!” I appreciate praise but right now I feel like I’m dreaming.
Jaune:Cream and five sugars?
Ruby:Black......
Jaune:*eyes widened*..........who are you?
Ruby:I need a drink that’s gonna slap me in the face. Plus I’m a grown woman.
Jaune:*hands her a mug* So all that’s left is the journal then.
Ruby:Don’t forget to wrap it all up. *sips*....... hey can you put-
Jaune:*hands her another mug* Cream and sugars in it?
Ruby:*red* You suck....
Jaune:You swallow.....
Ruby:But you still kiss me afterwards.*finger gun* damn where’s Yang when I need her? That was a good comeback.
Jaune:*points to the couch*
Yang:*passed out*Zzzzzzz
Ruby:Guess she needed a break too. I hope she can stay awake on look out when we leave. This stress might get to her.
Jaune:Both of you don’t talk much about what happened over the decade. Almost like you’re avoiding it.
Ruby:Not really, wasn’t much to say. Travel, hide, spy, kill, hunt, research.... It felt like a giant manhunt honestly. They were constantly looking for us while we looked for them. Only difference is they also had to spend time progressing their plans. We had some cool fights and close calls. More than I would like.
Jaune:You ready to go back?
Ruby:Ready as I’ll ever be. It’s wrong to say but I think of piece of me was relieved to learn the mission wasn’t over yet. Starting to move forward made me a bit anxious. Am I wrong for that?
Jaune:*shrugs* Consider this a chance to do the mission the right way. You’re the one who said that this time around it’s not about vengeance.
Ruby:That’s right; protecting others are serving justice. Just like it should be.
Yang:*waking up* I’ll drink to that. Someone poor me some cof-*handed a mug*
Jaune:It’s black coffee.
Yang:Is there any other way to drink it? *downs it admittedly*
Ruby:*shudders* That will always freak me out. Good news, the scroll is done. How’s the journal coming along.
Yang:Honestly I do not know anymore. I write but I keep wondering if any of it is actually any good. I’m worried she won’t even read it.
Jaune:She’ll read it. Maybe not in the beginning but she’ll definitely read it eventually.
Yang:I hope so. The other problem is how can anyone express everything they want to say to their kid with just one journal? There’s no time to make another one and everything I write in this one keeps reminding of more things I want to tell her. Before I know it I’m at end of a page and I still haven’t told her everything I think she should hear. *looks at it* Pouring out your emotions onto paper has been more frustrating than fighting Salem.
Jaune:Sigh, what’s with the women in this family struggling with emotions but excelling in combat. All three of you have that same exact problem which is surprising. Tai seems to be fine at sharing feelings and he’s the only DNA link you all share.
Yang:*grumbles*........
Ruby:I think you’ve been thinking of this journal wrong. It’s not meant to replace you or even say farewell. Think of it more as “see you later.” Because you will see her later Yang Xiao Long. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. So stop treating it like it’s the last thing you’ll ever do for her.
Jaune:She’s right. It’s not like you to prepare for the worst. You always plan for the best!
Yang:......
Jaune and Ruby: *smiling*........
Yang:Sigh, who am I to resist a double leader pep talk? *grabs it* better get back to work then.
[Menagerie,Oasis]
Adam:*packing* Jacquelyn can you hand me my flashlight?
Jacquelyn:Here you go. Finally packing for the trip?
Adam:Don’t wanna forget anything last minute. It counts as work but it has to be done.
Jacquelyn:Fair enough. I mean Jael has been packing for beacon for awhile too.
Adam:I’ve noticed, she’s packing like her spot is already guaranteed there.
Jacquelyn:You don’t think she is gonna pass the exam?
Adam:I do, I’m just glad she does too. I’d be concerned if she packed light.
Jacquelyn:It’s weird to think everyone is leaving so soon. Sienna’s missions for the shadows, your mission, Jael’s entrance and initiation exam. Things are going to get lonely around here.....
Adam:I’ve actually been thinking about that. *stands up* what do you say about going on another venture across the world when Jael gets in? You haven’t done that in years.
Jacquelyn:That’s an option. It wouldn’t feel right though. I’ve gotten used to having someone to talk to on those trips. *holds his hand* he was never much for conversation but he kept me company.
Adam:He also tried attacking you a few times.
Jacquelyn:Yeah but I could beat him with one hand tied behind my back; still can. *smirks*
Adam:Oh so you’re that confident.
Jacquelyn:You’re strong my love but face it, I’ve always been too much for you to handle. *rubs his face*
Adam:Sounds like a challenge I just might except. *grabs her waste*
Jacquelyn:Careful, I don’t accept challenges with rewards. I just might have you try to put another baby in me if you lose.
Adam:I’d do that win or lose regardless.
Jacquelyn:Who are you and what have you done with Adam?
Adam:I’m Jacquelyn Frost’s husband *leans closer* so in other words I’m the luckiest man alive.
Both of them start kissing and getting a bit handsy when-
Jael:*red* Ahem!!
Adam:......
Jacquelyn:*grinning* Hi sweetie!!!!
Jael:......Dinner is ready. *slowly walks away*
Sienna:*walks by with her ears covered* You two are gross.
Adam:*face palms* We forgot about the door and their hearing.
Sienna:Speak for yourself. They’re old enough to know to leave the house when this happens. *happily hugging him* I at least wanted to have one fun day out of the week. Don’t tell me I’m the only one who’s thought about it?
Adam:........
Adam:*red* Tomorrow.....
Jacquelyn:You here that you little wild flowers!?
Sienna and Jael:Unfortunately!!!!!
Adam:Let’s go eat dinner.
Jacquelyn:Kay!

Welcome to the first chapter of my new fanfiction, Agents of Beacon.
This story takes place in a Modern AU, to explain, in this version of Remnant the Grimm are still around, but Aura, Semblances, and Huntsmen are not. Well, they are, but that's for the story to tell you.
If this specific type of Modern AU (that being with all the fantasy elements being hidden to the general public and all the tech is equivalent to ours) isn't a thing then I'd like to call it the "Agents AU" but I'm not sure if I can get away with that.
I hope you enjoy
- Ken
Agents of Beacon
Chapter 1
Roman Torchwick sat alone in the office of one his many warehouses through the city of Vale. In front of him was mountains of paperwork all of which containing information from the most expendable grunts to the locations of his safehouses, to the route he'd take to said safehouses. The master criminal had to sift through each and every one, checking for any and all mistakes, approving or denying any transfer requests, and making sure everyone was paid. Running a crime syndicate was just as complicated as running any other business. Torchwick absolutely despised this part of the job. He thrived off the thrill of his crimes, the sadistic pleasure of abusing the weak, but at the end of each day, he had to force himself into his office to becoming a sodding paper pusher. Normally he'd bitch and moan to his direct subordinate, but she was out doing god-knows-what.
Actually, Roman couldn't remember the last time he saw Neopolitan, his sexy mute assassin. He had sent her off to deal with some officer who was getting a little too close to locating him, but that was weeks ago, she should've been back by now.
"Eh, she'll show up eventually. The girl is durable as hell, probably just off with some new plaything." The gentleman thief thought aloud. He was a crime lord, he wouldn't allow himself to worry about anyone but himself. That was dangerous in this line of work. Speaking of work, the man dressed in his signature white overcoat and black slacks returned to the paperwork in front of him. It was an employee evaluation sheet for some newbie. His place of employment read "Tony's Pizzeria." Some shitty Italian restaurant he owned to clean his money, couldn't put "professional criminal" on anything official obviously. A sudden knock on his door brought his attention back up.
Roman had spent so long looking at sheets of white and black that he had forgotten the layout to his own office. The room wasn't anything too special, it was your standard drab office you'd find anywhere else, with two not too comfortable wooden chairs in front of his similarly made desk, and a black leather couch beside a low coffee table being the only furniture in site. The far door had a plain glass window with the word "Office" printed on it, allowing him to see who dared bother him at eleven p.m.
On the other side of the door was a young girl in red, her hair was jet black with red tips, and her eyes were a strange, dull silver. Her face displayed her trepidation of being a defenseless child in a crime lords main base of operations in the shady part of the city, and in her arms was a beaten and bruised Neopolitan. Roman jumped out of his chair and rushed towards the door, cane in hand, ready to kill the one who dared to hurt Neo. The completely calm and not concerned at all master thief slammed his office door open, shattering the glass and scaring the crimsonette even more.
"What. Happened." He stated more than asked, the girl holding Neo looked up at him with tears in her eyes. "I-I was being harassed by some guys in white and she j-j-jumped in and s-s-s-saved me. After she beat them up, some guy in black and a white mask came and completely beat her." Her explanation was short and full of fear and stutters but Roman understood. However, he was just as confused. Neo saved her? Why? And guys in white and one in black? What the hell was the girl talking about? Now that Roman looked at her, she couldn't have been older than seventeen, what was she even doing here?
"What's your name?" Roman continued.
The girl sniffled and whipped her tears, eyes regaining life.
"Ruby Rose."
Three years later
Ruby Rose stood in front of the full-length mirror in her room, going over her outfit for the day. Her style hadn't changed much from her early days, sticking to goth and punk inspirations. Deciding that everything was in order, the red and black-clad girl grabbed her signature red cloak and headed downstairs. Walking into the living room, she spotted her father, Taiyang, in the kitchen. The nearing fifty, still ridiculously in shape, security guard was setting down a full plate of breakfast food for him and his daughter on the dining room table when notice Ruby.
"Heya there, Rubbes, got time to eat before you head out?" The old man had a youthful voice like he never aged past his prime. His looks supported this line of thinking, his blonde hair still full and vibrant, blue eyes still held that childlike wonder. He sat down, ready to devour his delicious creation, Ruby joined him, her empty stomach her only motivation at the moment.
"I'm sure I do, but if not, whatever. Jaune and them will understand. It's my first day off in months!" The twenty-year-old stated before engorging herself with the food.
"Well, be sure to tell them if you think you'll be late." Her father reminded her. He wasn't one for rudeness, and he instilled that into his daughters. The two ceased conversation to finish their food, both of them eating quickly, without either of Ruby's mothers around they lacked any and all manners. After they ate, the two placed their dishes in the sink and walked together to their vehicles. Ruby sent her longtime friend, Nora, a quick text instructing her to inform the others that she would be late.
"Oh, Dad, while it is my day off, I have to head to the office to pick up something I left, I'll be late getting back. Don't worry about cooking for me I'll pick something up for myself." The brunette informed Taiyang.
"Alright, Rubbes, guess I'll see you tonight then." With a nod to show he truly understood her, Taiyang got into his truck and headed off to work. Once he was out of sight, Ruby got into her car and looked over the message she received earlier once more.
"Red, I need you in today, after all, got to meet someone and I'd like both my girls there."
"Damn it, Roman. What the fuck." Ruby complained out loud. Torchwick already keeps her busy with the paperwork and sparring with Neo left her sore all over. She was truly looking forward to her day off, and now she'd have to cut it short. The throbbing return to her head, and with an exaggerated groan, she collected the aspirin from her glove box, took 3 and headed to the meeting place to find her friends. What the hell could be so important that Torchwick would call her in? Was this individual he was meeting that dangerous? Or did he just want to dump more work on her? She had no way of knowing until she got there, so with a resolute sigh, she turned on her Bluetooth to clear her mind.
After about twenty-five minutes of driving from her suburban neighborhood into the metropolis known as Vale, she reached her destination. Ruby grabbed her phone, locked her car, and entered the building with a sign that read "Junior's Grill." The familiar restaurant had a modern aesthetic and a black and white color scheme with splashes of red. Junior, the owner, originally wanted a homey wood cabin look, but his daughters took complete control of designing the place and made it what it is today. Speaking of the two, the girls in red and white were the first to greet Ruby as she entered.
"Hey, Ruby!"
"Hi, Cutie." Melanie and Miltia called out simultaneously.
"Oh, hey, Melanie, Miltiades!" Ruby called out excitedly.
"Ugh, Ruby, how many times do I have to tell you to call me Miltia?" Miltiades responded indignantly.
"Sorry, Love, how've you two been?"
"Better now that we've seen you, you haven't been to Daddy's club in months," Melanie answered this time, wrapping her arm around the red tipped girl's waist. Miltia was not far behind her twin, allowing Ruby to place an arm around each other as they walked further into the store.
"Again, sorry, my boss has been working me to death. Your dad's lucky. I haven't seen him around in weeks." Ruby openly complained as she noticed Junior whipping down an empty table not too far off. She and the man had an odd dynamic from an outsiders point of view. The crimsonette would often poke the older bearded man, and he treated her like a third daughter, the oddity being that she was a seemingly normal girl who had no business dealing with a bar owner and information broker. The relationship was started by Ruby's lovely older sister, Yang Xiao Long, whom often went to the man to help locate her bounties.
"Grass is certainly looking greener over here."Junior laughed, the man was normally quite busy managing his legitimate restaurant, nightclub, and information so it was nice to not be bothered by Roman.
"Yeah, well, I'm gonna still with my friends for a bit girls, I'll see you when I can." Ruby dismissed the Malachite twins and turned the corner of the large establishment. More tables, some filled, greeted her. The table furthest back and against a large windowed wall seated her multicolored companions. The one in pink was the first to notice the brunettes approach.
"RUBY!" Nora called out, jumping up and tackling the young girl. With an "oof" the air left Ruby's lungs as she landed on her ass. The other 3 were quick to stand and help the two redheads up.
"Hello to you too, Nora." Ruby weezed out. Nora giggled as she cuddled deeper into the crook out Ruby's neck.
"Sorry, bout that Ruby," Ren, a tall black-haired man of Asian descent in green, apologized for Nora, "It's just been so long." Ruby simply laughed it off, finally sitting down next to Pyrrha.
"It's no biggie, used to it by now," Ruby answered with a wide smile. "Actually kinda missed it."
"Well, we have certainly missed you." Pyrrha, the unofficial mother of the group clad in gold and red, injected.
"Yeah, what's been keeping you so busy?" Jaune, a blonde meek boy sporting a black hoodie and jeans, leaned forward, curiosity clear in his voice.
"Oh, just work, so much paperwork!"
"Really? What could possibly be so demanding?" A concerned Pyrrha asked, the crimsonette obviously couldn't just respond "Oh, y'know, running a crime syndicate." but she hated the thought of lying to her friends. The five of them had been together since early high school.
"Nothing too bad. C'mon, I don't wanna think about work right now, what have you guys been up to?"
While the concern didn't any of their faces, they knew they wouldn't get anything from the crimsonette. Three years ago, maybe, but ever since she got her new job, Ruby had changed. Before Ruby was quiet, shy, and genuine, now she was loud, confident, and deceptive. She had somehow gotten much stronger, though none of them ever seen her go to any gym, and she learned how to fight somewhere along the line. Ruby became quick, no one could touch her if she didn't want them to, and any opponent, no matter the size, would lay at her feet if they challenged her. The four of them tried, again and again, to find out what had changed in her life to cause this but she'd never answer them. The only thing that kept them from forcing the answer out of her was the fact that she was seemingly fine, better even, and that she never once lied to them.
There were plenty of times where Ruby would simply change the topic, or leave if pressed too hard. Quickly, her friends learned to stop asking, although it eventually came back up. After agreeing to let it go for the hundredth time, the conversation moved to much more pleasant things. They talked about Pyrrha's modeling career, and how she was steadily becoming more popular outside of Vale. Ren mentioned that he had finally gotten his therapy license, and Nora got a job at her favorite gym as a personal trainer. With the both of them working they were able to afford their own place and had not so recently moved out of Jaune's home. The aforementioned blonde still worked at the same bookstore with their other friends, Sun and Neptune, who Ruby was told were also doing fine. After talking for about an hour, laughing at Nora's antics, and sharing books to read with Jaune, the fivesome was approached by Junior.
"Hey, Ruby, I gotta talk to you real fast," Junior announced.
"What's up?" Ruby responded.
"Uhh, you sure it's fine? Right here?" Junior asked, gesturing to the others at the table. The crimsonette gave them each a quick glance before turning back to Junior, inquiring on what the topic of discussion was.
"Something our shared boss wants you informed on, nothing too sensitive," Junior answered her.
"Alright, spill," Ruby demanded, suddenly seeming superior to the older man.
"Yes, Ma'am!" Junior replied, shocking everyone in the restaurant, "Shits been gettin' rough out lately," He lowered his voice in embarrassment as he continued, "People are reporting sighting Grimm around lately."
"Grimm!?" The fivesome whispered in horror. The Creatures of Grimm were a plague. Their predatory nature against humanity as a whole earned them notoriety among the everyman. They took on many shapes and sizes but shared just as many traits. From their soulless, blood-red eyes, to the boney white plates that covered each species. They used to be a commonplace disaster, but far from recent advancements in technologies and Dust have kept them far from any city. They were still routinely hunted by each kingdom's military, however, since the longer a single Grimm lived, the stronger and more intelligent it became.
"Yeah," Junior continued, "In the city. They just appear, kill, and then vanish. People report them mainly in the shitter parts like where homeless gather and the police don't take them seriously."
Jaune breathed a sigh of relief at this, "So, its just crazy talk. if the police aren't worried, we shouldn't be either right?"
Nora and Pyrrha regained some of their lost color at this, but Ruby quickly dashed all hope in them with a firm "We aren't police." Ren didn't let the comment slide.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean we shouldn't shove this off as a drug addict's ramblings, Junior, finish." Ruby was curt. Her demeanor had changed as soon as Junior began, she seemed tense, ready for a fight. Junior didn't let anyone ask her why.
"Last thing is that some people are stating that others are 'superhuman.'" No one interrupted this time, "They say that they take bullets like nothing, glowing when shot, and healing super fast. Heard they move faster than a normal person, stronger too. No explanation on that."
Ruby moved her gaze to the floor thoughtfully, and Ren seemed to recognize what Junior was talking about.
"Glowing? Is it a shared color?" Ren leaned forward, tense after hearing what Junior had to say.
"No, each one reports a different person having a different color. If it helps, only two people have been seen in total, and their colors are white and green."
"I have to go," Ruby announced suddenly, surprising everyone.
"What, why?" Both Nora and Pyrrha asked.
"Work." That was all Ruby said before she was gone.
Vale, the capital of the Kingdom and named after said kingdom, was fairly large. The upper district was where the city officials and rich resided, it was full of large buildings, skyscrapers, and banks. Fancy restaurants and opera houses added to the pretentious and snobby vibe one got by being in the general area. Most people living there were of the one percent, being bankers or aforementioned city official. They lived in expensive mansions, drove expensive cars, and wore expensive clothes. They lived their lives thriving off of gossip and using money to solve any problem, completely ignorant to the needs and worries of the middle and lower districts. The middle district was exactly that, middle. Everyone lived in middle-class homes, drove middle-class cars, you get the picture. It was what people thought of when they heard the word "city." Full of schools, movie theaters, clubs, and suburban neighborhoods. It was the perfectly normal life, who could ask for more?
Blake Belladonna could. She currently lived in the lower district of Vale, and she hated it. The streets were dirty, full of waste and homeless people. Only every other building was even livable, the standard being filled with holes and crumbling to dust. Luckily, it wasn't her permanent home, that being Menagerie, another, smaller kingdom. So, what was she doing in Vale? Simple, White Fang business. Adam Taurus, a red-headed bull Faunus, and she came here to take over the Valeian faction and get them back in order. Adam quickly gained a loyal following here and took the title of Faction Leader no problem. What bothered Blake was what came afterward. In their three year tenure here in Vale, Adam had changed. Not abruptly, but steadily, like a poison. Slowly he became more angry, violent, and ruthless. The orders he gave were more harsh and deadly. Even now, Blake sat alone on a tall office building, scouting out the routine of a senator she was meant to assassinate.
The thought alone disgusted her. The White Fang Blake knew and loved was a peaceful organization. They only wanted equal rights for Faunus, a race of humans with animal traits. The girl in black and white was a cat Faunus herself, sporting two black cat ears under her signature bow. Every day, in every kingdom to various degrees, Faunus were discriminated, segregated, and abused only because they were different. The White Fang was made to fight against this, in a peaceful manner. With protest and demonstrations, they actually began to make progress towards equality. Then Adam stepped in, while he was only a leader to the Faction in Vale, other like-minded individuals were popping up all over Remnant. His mercilessness was already spreading with the organization, Blake's current mission was proof of that. Speaking of, some movement down below brought Blake out of her trance.
On street level was Senator Isaac Black, he was the swing vote on a bill that discreetly allowed Faunus to be forced to work overtime without compensation. It was obvious to anyone that actually read the damn thing, but who bothered with that? It didn't affect the general populace, so it truly didn't matter. The Faunus didn't know what killing him would accomplish, would it send a message? Of course, but was it a message the White Fang wanted? No, it couldn't be, this wouldn't help the Faunus whatsoever. This event would fully mark them as a terrorist group, which would certainly do them no favors.
Blake watched her target enter his car and drive away, harboring no intention to pursue him. She sat down on the edge of her perch and looked at her hand, a light purple glow emanating from it. It was her Aura, an outward manifestation of her soul, or so Blake was told. It made her stronger, allowed her to move faster, protected her from damage, and gave her access to her semblance, Shadow. This was supposed to be the White Fang's secret weapon, Blake only saw it as a tool for war. Only Adam and her possessed Aura, but it gave every member of the White Fang in Vale the confidence to attack their oppressors. That, and the new uniform and masks that Blake refused to wear. With the masks, the guilt of their new terrorist actions didn't weight on the once normal citizens that made up the White Fang. Blake had a front row seat to the White Fang's painful transformation, and it angered her to no end.
"Hey there, Kitty Cat." Which is why she contacted this old drunkard.
"I kindly ask that you never call me that ever again." Blake deadpanned. The old man just laughed at her and took a seat next to the black Faunus giving her a chance to look him over.
His hair was black and unkempt, eyes red, both in color and bloodshot, and his chin was decorated in scruff. Blake could tell he was muscular, but his black business suit covered it well. His white undershirt was unbuttoned at the top, only being held in place by a blood red tie. The Faunus had a feeling that he didn't choose this style on his own, mainly because he looked extremely uncomfortable in it. However, it still made her feel underdressed. Her white sleeveless shirt, black vest, and white shorts suddenly felt inadequate. With a large sigh the feeling left, she requested to meet him again for a reason.
"So, can you really help me, Mr. Branwen?" Blake asked as the man reached for a flask in his inner pocket. Though, he paused once he registered what she said.
"Alright, listen, I won't call you anything cat related if you don't call me 'mister,' deal?"
"Deal. Qrow it is."
"Great, so, to answer your question," he paused to sip his flask, "Yeah, I can help you, but you're gonna hafta help me first."
Blake gave a nod of approval, not wanting to interrupt the man. "This isn't from Beacon, this is from me. I got a niece that lives here in Vale. Real sweet little monster. Haven't seen her in a long time, and I heard she's gotten into some real shit."
Another pause, another sip.
"Her dad and friends are all worried to no end, and I'm a busy guy, I can't just drop in and check on her. That's what I need you for." Qrow looked over to Blake seeing if she understood what he meant.
"So…" Blake began, confused, "You want me to… follow her?"
"Close. I want you to be her friend."
Blake gave the old drunkard a blank stare, slowly processing what he said.
"What?"
End of Chapter 1
Well, that's chapter 1. I honestly can't wait to hear what you have to say, and to finish chapter 2.
Next time, we see what Yang is up to, and follow team JNPR as they worry over Ruby

Motion Sickness Chapter 30
pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq
(Ruby POV)
I watched Jaune wheel Qrow away. They said they were headed to the Malachites' bar first without any real direction afterwards. I suppose they'd start turning up stones there and see where that led.
I really needed to work up the guts to tell Qrow about Jaune. Qrow trusted him, he even liked Jaune. I really was just stalling on that front but family was hard. I'd never brought a boyfriend home before. Not that I was bringing Jaune to my house. He'd already been there though, before we were dating. The point was I wasn't sure Qrow would object to Jaune at this point. They were like two peas in a pessimistic pod. Qrow even shared his flask with Jaune after Jaune got roughed up that day.
I wanted to go to him so badly, then. He came back soaked in blood and we really hadn't had the chance to talk about it, even. We hadn't had the chance to really talk since the Gold Saucer when I told him how much he meant to me and how I truly felt.
The real trouble was Yang. I wasn't really sure how she would react to the news. I mean she knew Jaune was a good guy. He was trustworthy and wore his heart on his sleeve. Now she sort of knew the alarming competence that he had developed so she couldn't even complain about that. Jaune was a man now.
Pyrrha's and my work. I could be proud of that.
On the other hand, Yang certainly wouldn't handle the news we were sleeping together well. She was my big sister. That pretty much said it all but she'd done so much to raise me, too. She wanted to keep me safe and small. That's what she still saw me as but I was too big for that now. She'd learn, we just needed baby steps first, probably. Maybe a kiss on the cheek around her to start.
I sighed.
I missed being kissed by him. I pressed my fingers against my lips as I imagined him taking them again. All passion and want. Heat flushed my face as I thought of the last time we were together in the shower here. His body pressed against mine and quiet gasps leaving my lips. Steam and need between us and nothing else.
It sucked having to hide things. Jaune hadn't complained since I'd told him what I wanted but I'd like to believe he was suffering a little too. It wasn't cruel, it just showed what he was just willing to do for me. He was willing to do a lot for me.
He'd killed with me in his heart thrice now, I knew. He was willing to get his hands dirty and when things got ugly he was right there up front with it.
I needed to prove I was like that too. I needed to show that I could lead with that same force of will that he had.
"What's the plan Ruby?" Weiss asked me. Like I was supposed to know how to infiltrate a brothel. Just because I knew some things now didn't make me an expert on brothels!
"Ren goes in." I said. "And gets a lay of the place." He didn't look happy about it. "How many exits and entrances? That sort of thing." I was quick to try and reassure him.
"Outfits?" He asked.
"If you can get your hands on some, sure. Shoot for something Yang's size. Or any of our sizes, really." Anything was better than nothing.
He glanced around at each of us, as though taking a mental stock of each of our outfits one last time. He was looking like each of us like we were sending him off to die much more than he was checking us out and his gaze showed it.
"Not Ruby's." Yang interrupted.
"Yes. Even mine." I ordered over her. I shot her a glare. And she shot one right back, slightly incredulous. I never said out loud that I would do it but I would. This is important. Jaune would do the reverse, not that that thought was nice to have. I had to be willing to go the miles I had to be willing to go. "If you can get your hands on it, yes absolutely. We cover a wide range of heights and sizes so if you get one thing it might just about do it." Yeah, I'd prefer if Yang did it, but if I had to...
Ren gave a single slow nod. "Do we, uh know where this place is?"
"Jaune said it was on the lower levels, right?" Nora brought up. "How big could the lower levels be?"
"Well it's the biggest of the levels." Weiss corrected lightly.
"Uh guys. Jaune left directions and an address." Oscar waved a hand behind our little pow-wow. He had a sticky-note in his hand. "So you don't have to guess about that."
"Oh uh." I stammered. Here was Jaune covering for me again. Thinking a few steps ahead. "Good. That's good. We don't have to guess about that, that is."
"I don't think they'll just have a box of outfits by the door." Nora chipped in again. "How do you suppose he gets some? Past sleeping with one of the girls I doubt he'll be in position to get his hands on their clothes."
"Plus wouldn't they keep the outfit on? Isn't that the whole appeal?" We all turned to look at Oscar. "I mean…" He trailed.
It was too late for him to save any measure of bright red face, but he may have had a point. Nora, for one, didn't look happy about Ren going so far. I wasn't super comfortable with the idea, either. Even those of us going to seduce the Don were only doing it to get into position.
None of us intended on going through with the deed.
"We'll just improvise. We'll wire you up." I said. I grabbed the wire and gear Qrow had put together. "Put this on." It was basically earbuds that hooked up to his scroll and we'd just be mid call with him while he was in. Bing, bang, boom. He was wired up. Ren threaded it under his outfit and plugged it into his scroll. They had modified a microphone next to his ear. Something subtle but it would ensure whoever was wearing it could be heard by those of us outside. It wasn't unusual for someone our age to walk around with one headphone in.
Not even suspicious.
"Improvisation is not my strong suite," Ren sighed.
"Do we just stay here while he goes in or…" Weiss asked.
"Maybe..." I thought for a moment. "No, better to be close. We'll find a restaurant or hang-out. We'll be nearby," I assured Ren.
He breathed in and out meditatively but said nothing. I thought maybe he was relieved but it was hard to tell with Ren.
Nora seemed to actually know and reached out and touched his sleeve. "You'll do fine." It was a small sign of affection but was made larger by Ren's silence. Yang even looked away from the two of them.
He gave her a single martial nod.
pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq
"So this is what the lower levels are like?" Nora wondered. "Bit of a mess, isn't it?"
"Jaune's been hanging out down here?" Weiss asked. We watched a dust bomb get sold over a counter like a candy bar. "Alone?"
"Qrow's been with him. For the most part," I defended. It wasn't like Jaune had been waltzing around by himself. He'd been pushing my handicapped uncle around. Which, okay, I saw Weiss's point.
In a fight, Jaune would have been basically alone. I suppose he had been, too, that day he killed someone again. My uncle wouldn't have been able to do anything other than watch.
I really needed to talk to him.
He'd acted comfortable down here in the lower levels. I knew he had some criminal background but as I watched weapons freely exchange I couldn't help but wonder what I'd been consigning him to. Had he really been relaxed down here. I know Yang looked like she was feeling fine but I could tell her skin was crawling from how much she was looking around. Jaune would get an entirely different kind of attention than Yang would, I knew that, but still.
I'd just been relaxing above and never knew. Never even gave it much thought. I'd been baking cookies for God's sake and Jaune had been here with people baking bombs. I wasn't sure I wanted to think about what Malachites' bar was like and beyond.
I mean he had killed somebody in a bar fight.
I really, really wanted to talk to him.
We found the Honey Bee Inn. A multi floored white building with many bright signs and neon hearts near the entrance. We tried not to stand outside and gawk at the place we'd be infiltrating in all our own bright colors.
We found a bar across the street and Yang walked in with a confident look. She lowered her shades and looked around and no one asked us for our IDs. I mean Nora, Weiss, and I were short enough that I was sure the guy behind the counter had questions. On the whole though, he didn't seem to mind so long as we paid upfront. Which we did.
I meagerly sipped the alcoholic drink Yang had ordered for me with a grimace and tried to keep a clear head. Ren marched into the Honey Bee Inn with his wiretap turned on and connected to Nora's scroll set to the speaker which sat in the middle of the table.
"I'm in." Ren murmured. "There's a bar inside and… and a bunch of girls. They're not wearing much."
"Well you're in the right place." Yang reassured dryly.
"Eyes to yourself sonny." Nora warned. I was glad she was at least having a good time. Or having something.
"Get yourself a drink, look casual," I advised.
"Roger that." Okay well if he kept saying 'roger that' outloud his cover was blown. "What should I order? I've never been in a bar before."
"Just a whiskey or vodka. You're a big guy," Yang informed him.
"Is prostitution even legal here?" Weiss asked the table. That seemed like a fact worth knowing.
"Probably not," Yang enunciated each syllable slowly.
"The girls are just acting like waitresses," Ren muttered. "Vodka." He said a little louder.
"On the rocks." Yang continued.
"On the rocks." Ren echoed. He figured that she was giving him instruction awfully fast for somebody who professed to not think fast on their feet.
"No one would order one dry," Yang went on. "Just relax and trust me."
We heard Ren sigh through the microphone and I could imagine him nodding. Yang had street smarts that would help with this. There was a reason we wanted to get her alone in a room with Corneo.
"Do you have a plan to get their outfits?" Weiss asked.
"Maybe." Yang's gaze flickered over to Nora.
"Well don't leave us in the dark, spit it out already." Nora exclaimed.
"Ren, when a waitress comes up to you tell her you like the outfits but that you have a girlfriend. Tell her you have a fetish for it or whatever."
"What?" Nora wondered.
"You can't be serious." Weiss wasn't in either.
"I don't know that I can do that." Ren told the microphone.
"So what? That he just wants to, like, buy one?" I asked. The concept seemed so foreign.
"Why not?" Yang wondered.
"Actually…" Weiss weighed in. "This could work."
"That's what I'm saying. He likes the outfit just not any girl in there in one. It's the perfect excuse. It's shady, it's kinky, and he's willing to pay cash. That should be pretty normal."
I wondered for a second if Jaune ever wanted me to dress up like something. We were so fresh into things that it wasn't like we needed to spice anything up. I felt my face flush slightly at the pleasant memories. Thoughts for another time.
"Okay." Ren breathed. "Okay. I'll give it a try."
"Well we really only get one shot at it. Don't mess up." Yang gave him the business. "And try to get more than one. Tell them you have more than one girlfriend."
Weiss gave her a look.
"What? Being poly isn't as rare as people make it seem. Especially here in Mistral. People are pretty open minded in this part of the world."
"I-I suppose." Weiss stuttered out. She got this way about stuff like this. Weiss was somebody I could talk to about anything, we were besties like that, but that doesn't mean I'd actually talk to her about anything, we were besties like that, I suppose.
"It's not like that in Atlas, then," I asked.
Weiss shook her head.
"Sounds uptight, ice queen. You don't need any of that." Yang stretched her bionic arm over her head, getting at her back a little.
"Hey!"
"How are you doing handsome?" A woman's voice crackled through Nora's phone. "Can I get you anything?"
"Yeah, um you see the thing is I have some friends, who are girls, girlfriends, even." Ren stuttered out. "And we were wondering if we, well, I was wondering, anyways, if I could buy a pair off of you guys. See I'm sort of into the look, if you understand."
"I see…" the girl's voice came through. "How many girlfriends a guy like you have? The good looking huntsman type."
"Ah…" I could practically hear Ren thinking furiously. "Four? Four."
I mean we'd told him to go for as many as possible.
"How much money you got?" The woman whispered conspiratorially. "I think I can help you out."
"Tell her we'll pay a hundred fifty for each outfit." Yang pumped a fist.
Ren did some quick math. "Um I'll pay you six hundred Lien."
"No, no, sweetheart. How much money do you have? "
I heard Ren swallow through the mic.
pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq pq
"She made me open my wallet and everything." Ren bemoaned. "I'm out two grand!"
"Easiest money she ever made." Yang laughed. Ren had delivered with a box full of these honey-bee costumes. They had fuzzy bras with bright blue wings on the back. They came with these black and yellow striped bottoms which did not leave much to the imagination. The outfits left the midriff exposed, Ren was right, the girls inside were not wearing much.
The two pieces weren't that much more exposing than a swimsuit, I supposed. I held one up to my own body.
We were back in our hideout rental, and digging through the box Ren had made out with. He was holding his face in his hands while Nora patted his shoulder.
"I gave her your heights and I think she just guessed, I'm not sure how well they'll fit unless there's something about girls I don't know about."
"Oh. There's a lot you don't know about girls." Nora kept pating his shoulder. "That isn't one of them, though."
"I think she did decent." Yang said holding up the largest set to herself. "These bras are a bit on the one-size fit all kind. No matter if you show some underboob, sideboob, or cleavage. Kinda the point, even. Just need the important bits to be covered up. Y'all might have to do some switching, though."
"What did I miss?" Oscar came around a corner. He saw Yang holding up the fuzzy cups and round bottoms and said aloud. "Oh my Gods."
"Oh please." Yang threw the bra and bottom over her shoulder, she flicked her waist-length yellow hair back at the same time. "I'm not even wearing it yet. I will rock this."
I thought Oscar was about to burst a blood vessel, his face went so red. I giggled a little at his awestruck look.
Yang's hair went with it better than mine and Nora's would but I thought Weiss's would do fine. She cheated though, her hair looked nice in everything. Especially something like this where the white would contrast with the black.
I imagined it now, looking more silver than white, petite breasts covered with the little fuzzy cups and felt heat climb up my neck.
I shook it off as Jaune walked in. He was wiping his face off with his shirt, forehead sweat, mostly. His shirt went up and the heat came back, riding all the way up my face as I got a good look at his stomach and a bunch of warm pleasant memories rushed me.
I sighed when I saw the beginnings of the massive scars and his shirt lowered.
I felt like slapping myself awake. Maybe that alcoholic drink had left me more dazed than I pleased but the warmth felt nice.
"Jaune!" I shouted, holding the outfit up still. I watched his eyes go wide and an adorable blush ride him up. I grinned which only faded slightly as Qrow rode up behind him.
"Where," Jaune enunciated, "did you guys get your hands on those."
"The Honey Bee Inn of course!" Nora exclaimed.
"Right. The bee stuff should have tipped me off."
"What do you think?" I asked, holding the outfit over me.
"Yeah Jaune?" Nora bullied. "What's on your mind?"
"Um…" he managed cutely. Yang was right, I wasn't even in the thing. I already felt… powerful in a way. I kinda liked it.
"Eyes to yourself kid." Qrow grunted. "That's my niece you're looking at."
"I'm getting a good look, too." He was still staring. He was staring hard enough to make me blush some more and when someone looked away it was me. He looked at me like he was hungry. It had been a little while. I suppose I sort of invited it on us with how I'd gotten his attention.
"Yeah?" Qrow asked. His gaze flickered between us, like he was figuring something out, he rolled his eyes and muttered about kids. "Well we learned some shit about the Don you're probably not going to like."
"He likes new girls. They hire on new staff every time he visits the Honey Bee Inn. He gets bored fast and he likes virgins," Jaune said.
"Wow, who'd you have to beat up to learn about that?" Nora asked.
"Some guys. They were obstinate," Jaune said. He looked his knuckles over and I noticed the skin was rolled like he'd been punching something hard. Probably skin over bones. "And over what was basically gossip, no less. Still it should help with the plan. Slipping some of you girls in next time he's around. You'll go unnoticed if you mix with the new staff."
I had to wonder what he had been up to while this time I was out with the gals drinking. It seemed he'd outdone me again in his commitment to the cause.
I fumed silently and lowered the clothes.
"It's as good a plan as any." Weiss folded her own brassiere and bottoms over one arm.
"You're going in too, Weiss?" Jaune asked.
Weiss said, "I suppose I am. The plan was to get as many of us in as possible, right?"
Jaune just nodded and shot me a sideways glance. His concern did him credit but I needed to be in there. Boots on the ground, so to speak. Good thing the getup didn't come with heels or I'd be screwed.
They came with these fuzzy shoes.
"Well this is better than just Yang and I going in, and you boys get to see us in these." Nora leaned back. "Win, win."
Jaune shot a look over to his comrade in testosterone on the couch. "What did you guys do to Ren?"
