been working on assets! good god aseprite is INCREDIBLY helpful for pixel stuff. i figured whatever blending mode i used for the third eye filter in firealpaca would be different in aseprite, so i played around until i found something i liked! (the vita statue is supposed to be rendered differently, i can fix that later...)
also got the tierney eyes working properly yippee!!! (i might wanna see if i can do 8 directions for them tho, or make them more sensitive to where the player is...)

A note for the fellow strugglers in TS1
Hey, it's Seth! I know how frustrating TS1 can be (considering it's age and being the first game in the franchise), so I am here to introduce a list of personal must have mods and programs, which I always use whenever I re-install the game to make it more user-friendly. The list itself is quite short, actually, since it only consists of my personal gameplay choice mods. So there's no building objects, deco, skins and heads there.

MODS AND CC
This calendar will report the day of the month to your sims and -- and this is amazing -- even introduce a concept of days off. Sims should have about every 6th and 7th day off. - THE ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE. It's in the painting section and costs 15 simoleons. Works a bit wonky with children, but otherwise a very useful mod to have.
Call work/give interview job phone plugins to give your sim a day off. - I use those mostly when sims have to take care of the baby.
A family mod by Gothi_family_4ever. - another must have in my collection, introduces the familial relationships in game! No more inappropriate relationships between relatives. It's a 0 simoleon painting, which you can delete once you've done.
A hacked frigde mod by the same author. - allows your sims to put their food into the refrigirator, call the household members for the meal, and requires the usage of products (like meat and in-game vegetables) in order to cook a dish instead of insta-paying. You kinda have to build a grocery shop for your sims, so they could buy the required products, I prefer to install the stalls into the pre-existing farm shop in Old Town area. P.S DON'T FORGET TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE INSTALLING BEFORE DRAGGING ANY FILE. As much as I love this mod, I don't, for example, use their cereal add-on.
The Elixir ExpressiBuy Computer. - a computer that allows you to buy any in-game buyable product (like vacation gifts, grocery, tonics, etc etc) in stock. They won't magically appear overnight but would be brought by a special courier npc. It also allows your sim to research logic, creativity, culinary and mechanical skills. I'd also recommend diving further into their site, since they have a lot of cool and unique gameplay content as well!
MagiCo's Bookshelf of Dimensional Storage - the official Maxis item, that was in the 'Get Cool Stuff' section. Allows your sims to keep their magic coins and ingrediends in special bookshelf storage, I mostly use it so the kids could get the ingredients for their spells from the adults. It is in the Magic section, btw
The Magic Mirror - the only outright cheat object that I have in my possesion. This mirror refreshes your sims needs, builds skills, friends, stardom, etc. Saves headaches when you are not in the mood to fullfill your sims' mood, ha-ha.
PROGRAMS
SimEnchancer 3D - basically a program that allows you to change the basic sim's attributes, including their heads and bodytypes. If you are familiar with TS2's SimPE, you'd have the idea how it works. NOTE: if you have to run your TS1 game as an administrator, you'd have to open it up in the same vein as well. And don't forget to backup your UserData files when you are working with it, just in case!
The Sims Creator - the official Maxis program for players to create some basic skins content. The program is only suitable to work with head and skins textures and not the meshes! Likewise, if you have to open the game as an administrator, you'd have to do the same with that program.
NEIGHBORHOODS
This section for the fellow premade enjoyers out there, who mostly played TS2 before and decided to give the local premades a chance as well
Here you can download the original UserData 1 and 2 if you want to reset your neigborhoods as they were if you had already played the neighborhood before and want to start anew. The Sims Wiki also gives you an instruction for how to do so.
And here you can download the additional Maxis families like The Hatfield, The Maximus, The Mashuga, The Snooty, The Jones and that weird agent White House familes. For some reasons, some of them refused to function in my game, so I had to install the empty houses and recreate them by hand, using the SimEnchancer and Wikia to give them appropriate skills and careers.
OTHER
Sims 1 Alternative UI - refreshes your game by a margin. I really recomend this one!

hi person who is seeing this post by searching for your tag of choice. have u seen the above shitheads and tried to report on sight bc they were blasting some video with autoplay? is your search now not working?
native tumblr blocking is breaking your endless scrolling search. apparently too much posts being excluded from the load results in the load failing, so if you reported and blocked these guys, thats whats causing it. 2nd post im making for those who might not have seen my 1st post due to the aforementioned reasons.
heres how to get the functionality back until tumblr mods gets off their ass to cleaning up the mess on desktop.
get firefox with any adblock that allows for custom blacklist/filters. im using firefox with Ublock Origin. so get this if nothing else.
go into the settings of your adblock plugin and slap the following line in the blacklist/filter. it will kill any dailymotion embedded videos too btw. remember to hit Apply Changes or Save or whatever equivalent thats present in your adblock.

make sure the bots are unblocked so the search function actually works. again, too much blocking somehow breaks this hellsite's search bar.

Hey, as much as I'm not active in the bully fandom anymore, (which I'll eventually come back to) I stumbled upon this Tiktok account stealing art from bully artists on Tumblr and not crediting them.
I'm sure you recognize this art, from (mostly) beloved artists on here, they take the art, post it, and then get followers, likes, and traction all while not saying it isn't their art or deleting it when asked to. They never deny comments complimenting them for 'their' art.
They look like they're doing this to gain traction for making a bully mobile plugin for your mobile phone, but it could be done in so many other ways without stealing artists work.

With regard to the Shinigami Eyes plugin issues, I want to stress how important it is to Trust, But Verify.
A tool can be wrong. This one in particular is curated by a team of human people who can and will have biases. Any easy blacklist curated by real actual humans is going to be open to their biases. AI or Bot driven lists* aren't affected by biases, but they also aren't smart enough to tell "Rowling" from "growling" or "terf" from "butterfly". Honestly, the bot/program that identifies words is more reliable in the long-run vs the one that relies on human input. It still needs checked, obviously, but it's largely free from human bias. A little guy that just points to words and goes 'it has these letters in this order!! Be Aware!' but doesn't assign Good or Bad to it.
It's truly unfortunate that Shinigami Eyes has been made unreliable through bias. This sucks! I wish it was not the case! It was a useful tool for a lot of people for a very long time, and the fact it's being weaponized now against my community is incredibly saddening.
Much in the way you cannot trust a callout post blindly, you shouldn't trust any labeling or blocking tool blindly. It's unfortunate that many people will be learning this through this debacle. :(

As an addendum, because I did do some cursory lookin' and the link above to firefox reviews does reflect this: Things seem to have taken a downward turn in the last 5 months, though this problem of false flagging was absolutely present before. A tool that relies on user reports is not a reliable tool. Any number of factors can lead to false flagging. Humans and programs are equally fallible (for different reasons) and both can give you a wrong result.
Stay safe, friends. It's truly unfortunate that a tool trusted to protect us from constantly seeing rampant transphobia online has turned against the community it was built to protect.
*systemic biases do influence machine learning, ai, and bots. for the purposes of this, I used generalized words to mean 'an algorithm that blocks things based on a word or string of words without consideration for context', which is how tumblr's blacklist function works.

title highlighter
just click the purple accessibility icon in the upper right of the screen to use any of them. all the accesibility stuff is managed through a plugin from skynet technologies so thanks to them! and any reported problems go to them, not me, so sorry if something breaks and i'm out of the loop.

Crisps' Basic Blender Plugins
I made two basic Blender plugins, one to easily center objects in the scene, and the other to easily remove and re-add numbering from bone names.
Both plugins require Blender 2.8 or above.  They were tested in Blender 2.9, 3.6 and 4.0 on Windows. (Please report if anything explodes so that I can fix it. I've not coded much for Blender before so these are probably wonky.)
Both are found in the Item tab in Object mode.
Basic Move Tool
Save a few clicks sitting objects’ asses on the scene origin.

Sit Selected at Scene Origin Moves all selected Mesh, Curve and Text/Font objects to the scene’s origin, their lowest points at height zero. The objects’ own origins (pivot points) move with them, but keep their relative positions in object space. Sit Selected & its Origin(s) at Scene Origin Moves all selected objects to the scene’s origin, their lowest points at height zero. Their origins (pivot points) are also moved there. ! Apply -> Rotation to your objects before use if they’ve been rotated.  I use bounding box information to calculate objects’ lowest points. Bounding boxes are automatically updated when an object is translated or scaled, but not on rotation 🤔
Bone Name Manager
Remove a substring/pattern from bones’ names; save and restore the originals via save file. The default pattern is  “#\d+$”: “#” followed by numbers at the end of the name string.
I created this one because the GMDC Import/Export plugin requires the bones to be numbered, but that breaks the symmetry mode for weight painting. I wanted an easy alternative to renaming and re-renaming them by hand.

Use Custom Regex? If ticked, the plugin will use the specified regular expression instead of its default pattern. Only the first match found in a name will be taken into account. Strip Bone Names Removes elements matching the pattern from bones’ names. The original names are not saved. Save Bone Names to File Creates a json file listing and mapping stripped and original bone names to each other. Uses the Save Path. The bones are not renamed. Strip Bone Names and Save to File Creates a json file listing and mapping stripped and original bone names to each other. Uses the Save Path. Removes elements matching the pattern from bones’ names.  Restore Bone Names from File From a valid json file, loads the mapping of stripped to original names and renames bones accordingly. Uses the Load Path. Will fail if the current pattern is different from the one used by the file.

Writing Scientist Characters
this post is mainly an excuse to post a certain list of lab supplies I've made for a friend and infodump about lab work. but feel free to use this as a little resource when writing characters who are scientists and/or lab nerds. who knows, maybe it'll be of use.
General thoughts
Many people think it's a stereotype that scientist or nerd characters talk using complex technical jargon. While that is true to an extent, there actually is some kind of lab jargon. It varies across different labs and fields, but one thing they have in common is that it seeks to simplify, not the other way around.
gelelectrophoresis becomes elpho
microbiology becomes mibi
deioninized water becomes aqua dist
biochemistry becomes BC
sodium hydroxide becomes NaOH
They will probably not call a glass of water "silicon dioxide and h2o".
...and more. feel free to get creative. If you're writing in any other language than English, you can throw in one or two anglicisms as well. Also, most scientists will never gatekeep their work, and in an opposite fashion, will not shut up about it unless you make them. And no, most chemists do not know the entire periodic table by heart, only the most relevant elements. (main groups and a few commonly used metals of the subgroups) When it comes to characters doing the lab work, keep in mind that there are a lot more people involved than the scientist themself. Most scientists are more occupied with paperwork and data analysis, it is the laboratory technicians and assistants that do most of the practical work. They often have more lab experience than the scientists themselves.
Things you can have your lab nerd character do instead of making random chemicals explode
writing a lab report (and losing their mind over excel)
degreasing the glass bevel stoppers
removing the permanent marker from beakers (labeling is important)
complaining about the lack of funding of [their field] research
cleaning glassware
preparing specimen for examination
googling the most basic equations for their report
checking if the glassware and utensil collections are complete
steal single use plastic pipettes from their lab

I've currently received reports that the heart sounds in the newest release of Rescue Theater aren't working. If anyone has played the 0.5 release, can you confirm if the sounds are working for you? Note that they are off by default and need to be turned on in the preferences menu.
I'm currently using a plugin to generate the sounds procedurally, which is why they work differently from the other sound effects in the game. This plugin should work for a Windows build of the game, and they work fine on my end so I'm not sure what the problem is.
Any info I can get to help solve this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Strange Development - What's in a game?

Hello hello! I forget if it's been a true-blue week since my last post, but here I am. I'm going to try and make Saturday my update day. Regardless, strange somewhere is going somewhere! This first week has been quite exciting, mostly focusing on planning and doing some first step drawings to get an idea of what this game is even going to look like. Thankfully, that's been the easy part. Getting back to drawing has been a pleasant gift all on its own, and even doing my on-paper concept art has been very nice too, even if I miss the conveniences of digital programs a lot sometimes...

So far, a lot of my time has been laying down the fundamentals in RPG Maker. It's a very familiar dance to me but one I find a bit tiring as I get all the plugins in, make sure all the yanfly stuff is in the right place, yada yada. Another has been making sure some of my base ideas will even function, which I can happily report so far has been looking quite good. Most of the status ailments work so far, as to various aspects of combat I was worried might not, even if the workarounds have been, annoying at times. Did you know RPG Maker MV doesn't allow you to determine how long a status effect stays active anywhere in the status effect or on any skill that inflicts it? I wish I didn't!

A bit of time has also been figuring out how I want this game to function on a macro level. I've had to change some of my underlying assumptions on how this game should work and why I would want it to work like that as development has properly kicked off. It started off as an almost repo-like/lethal company adjacent experience, but has morphed into a combination of that and Etrian Odyssey. While I wanted dungeons to be more randomly generated, I've settled on proper structures within the dungeons, with some randomly-generated elements, such as respawning loot, certain passages, and enemies. This keeps the spirit of the loop of getting farther and farther in the dungeon with every run as you get stronger, while allowing the benefits of a hand-crafted dungeon crawling experience, much in the same vein as Fear and Hunger. If I get even close to that game's quality though, I'll have succeeded far beyond my imagination!
This is my first experience properly doing animations within RPG Maker as well as actually engaging with the RPG part. I've always had the mantra "RPG Maker is great at making any kind of game, just don't make an RPG." I'm finding this to be more and more true the more interesting RPG stuff I try to do. Still, it hasn't been that bumpy of a ride, so I'll try not to complain too much. More exciting news next week hopefully!

- updated the humanoid textures (human, elves, orc)
- updated the humanoid shared textures
Update 1.4.1 17th December 2024 -
- Hotfix added to the mod files
- Mesh fixes could be added to beast meshes and child mesh, all meshes are now universal LE/SE/AE and have the correct position in OS. Big thanks to BadDog here, which I reached out to on their GitHub to report the blender export issue in the bug reports, and they added changes to their plugin within a day. They included the handling of the special TRI files Bethesda used for those headparts.

absolutely wretched issue discovered trying to use noblemushroom's NVL visual novel option + yanfly message log (two non-negotiable plugins). yanfly's log waits for the message window to open/close (as it does in the standard adventure message style) before it will log any new text, which is something that does not happen in NVL format more than once at the beginning or end of a scene, therefore message log will only log the first instance of 'show text' in the entire event. i have to get the message log to trigger itself on something else, but i don't know what that would be (line breaks? ‘show text’ triggering? message window input?) or letalone fucking how. i can't even pinpoint what or where in the backlog's scripting is creating this need for window close/open in the first place. i hope this isn't some kind of horrid engine logic limitation. this is gonna have to be a js fix as well. nobody else has ever reported this issue presumably because despite all the rpg maker vn starter posts that independently link these two plugins nobody has extensively tried them together. this is going to suck.
