#SUPPORT YOUR FELLOW FANWORKS CREATORS
mithrilhearts · 1 year
Note
About the people feeding fanfictions to AI: It's so fucking sad and maddening that people will do anything BUT leaving a comment. I'm so done with writing fanfiction.
Hey Anon!
I know it can be super frustrating when we don't receive the feedback that we want. I think every creator is guilty of feeling that way, because we WANT to have others share in our joy of the things we make, and when they don't, it just feels kinda....silly? I guess?
We live in the "tiktok" era, as I would dub it, where everything is so fast-paced and fandoms live one second and die another, content needs to be NOW or never, but honestly, we as fanfic writers are not 'CONTENT CREATORS'. We are fan artists, in some fashion. Whether you write, draw, sing, etc, for the joy of contributing to the fandom, and I think "fandom" has lost its way entirely these days.
Fandom is a community - and we need to support one another for the things we make, to enjoy the things we love. If we stop commenting, sharing, etc, then the fandom ultimately dies. Yes, it's discouraging to not receive feedback on something you've worked hard on, and I think we all need to work on getting back to the true values of fandom.
And with this AI stupidity? What's so fascinating about feeding words to a computer? You're losing out on the heart and soul of a story or creation. Computers don't have feelings, but we fanworks creators do, and there is a distinct difference between AI generated works and those done by real people.
My advice: keep writing. While we may not get the feedback we desire, your story will become someone's favorite. You will become the author someone gravitates towards and can't wait to see what you post next. I know it gets discouraging, I feel that way more than I like to admit, but then I get (1) comment, or one nice tag about how amazing xyz was, and I think in the end, so long as we can SEE that our joy is spreading, isn't that what it's all about? (Let's completely ignore the "write for yourself first" rule because sometimes that just gets too repetitive).
Keep creating, my friend, it's never worthless, or pointless, and people DO care, I promise. Some people just have a more quiet way of showing it.
That being said: please support your fellow creators. Share their works if you like it, drop even a little emoji comment on it to show your support. Every little bit counts, and engagement with creators is at, what I feel, an all-time low. This needs to be fixed, or creations done by real people are going to go away.

Purpose
We wanted to celebrate the exciting dynamic of the '90s batfam, and especially feature some characters who haven't been utilized in more modern batfam media. We hope to engage with a community of fans that are excited to create and pull from fun '90s tropes and media.
How it works
This is an opportunity for people who'd like to explore the '90s Batfam characters, dynamics, and relationships through a variety of prompts. Romantic ships are allowed, but please make sure the Batfam is the focus of your work. This fanweek will have a dedicated blog. These prompts are free for anyone to use. Because it is a non-traditional, non-monetized, and free-to-opt-in casual event, there will be limited mods, no advertising of paid services. I will open a collection on AO3 at the end of October for anyone who wants their work collected for this event.
Rules
This is a SFW (safe for work) event. As a loose rule, please keep your works PG-13. For those posting on tumblr, please follow the site’s guidelines. Please no batcest.
What can I contribute?
Fanart (standalones, comic strips, etc.), fanfiction (one-shots, multichapter, etc.), fanmixes, gifsets, graphics— and more!
Some Final Thoughts:
If you engage with any of the fanworks, please reblog! Share the work with your followers. Support your fellow creators.
For this event, as you post your work, please use the following tag so we can repost your work on our blog!

Thunder reforged: Rolan x Dammon - #BG3 FanFic Review
Review by Aivu (@aivuthedragon)
Happy timezone, dear readers! Today I'm happy to bring you this incredible series of works by velocitross on AO3. What's hotter than a tiefling wizard with a knack for a well-timed thunderwave? Said tiefling wizard having a rendezvous with his tiefling blacksmith paramour, of course.
A note from the BG3FicReviews team: The entire BG3 community was been rocked by the recent controversy surrounding Dammon's VA, including the various fanwork creators who've fallen in love with Dammon, included him in their work, and are part of the LGBTQAI+ community themselves. We want to express our support and love to Dammon fans, Dammon fan work creators, the LGBTQAI+ community generally and all those adversely affected by what's happened. As such, we have decided to feature such works in our reviews this week. Make your love louder than the hate. 💜
As always, mind the tags! Our review is continued below the fold due to the NSFW nature of the content in these works.
Tumblr media
This incredible artwork by @arczism was inspired by velocitross's Rolan x Dammon fic Working Steel, which is included in today's review.
Working Steel, the first of velocitross’ three works that include this rare pair, is a masterwork in character portrayal. The author adeptly captures the at-a-glance somewhat incompatible personalities of the two tiefling refugees who fled Elturel together and now reside in Baldur’s Gate. In this work, the relationship between Rolan, the ever-surly wizard and the newly ‘appointed’ master of Ramazith Tower, and Dammon, the gentle yet infernally talented blacksmith of the Forge of the Nine, has grown far beyond mere friendship.
Rolan, frustrated by his attempts to catalogue the mindless chaos remaining after the untimely death of the tower’s former owner, approaches Dammon to ask for his help and visits him at his forge. But what could a blacksmith possibly offer a wizard? Well, a good fuck, for one thing. Rolan is pent-up, impatient, and needs a good lay. And, it turns out, so does Dammon. The smut that ensues is not only blazingly hot but also beautifully captures the tender affection between the two tieflings through not only their words, but small, unique gestures of love and care. (Mind the tails. I mean, tags. No, tails.)
In Up in the Tower, it’s Dammon’s turn to visit the wizard’s domain. But the blacksmith receives a less-than-warm welcome, as the ever-grumpy Rolan becomes highly annoyed at having his work interrupted. But considering Rolan is dressed in little more than his underwear and an open robe, I’m more than willing to forgive him for his surliness. Dammon, however, being the sweet, gentle soul that he is, insists on taking care of Rolan beyond his carnal needs alone. In this work, the relationship between the pair deepens, and the author has wonderfully captured the intimacy of the pair. Lastly, we have Within the Storm. This work takes us back to the Shadow-Cursed Lands as the tiefling refugees attempt to cross its desolate lands on their way to Baldur’s Gate. When the Absolute’s forces ambush the group, Rolan expertly wields his magic to stave them off. But when something happens to Zevlor, the battle takes a turn for the worse. In the chaos, Rolan’s siblings, Cal and Lia, are kidnapped and several of his friends and co-travellers are brutally murdered.
Once at Last Light Inn, Rolan is a fucking mess, devastated by his siblings’ capture. Lost in the depths of his despair and way too much drink, the tiefling wizard finds comfort in the arms of a fellow refugee he’d known since childhood - Dammon. And thus the gentlest embers of affection between the pair begin to spark to life. This lovely one-shot serves as a prelude to the author’s much-anticipated long fic about the pair, their growing affection for one another and what looks to be a truly beautiful love story. If you would like to follow velocitross’ incredible work about the love between a tiefling wizard and blacksmith, please be sure to subscribe to the author on AO3 and follow their work and the pending long fic. We have included a snippet of Working Steel below for your enjoyment. As always, please support the writers of our incredible fandom by leaving kudos and comments on their work. 🫶
------------------
Working Steel
By velocitross on AO3
The ring of his hammer fills Dammon’s ears and his attention as he works. A soft frown of focus curves his lips. It’s a simple enough repair—restoring a blade for the halfling woman standing outside the forge watching him work. Still, there’s a satisfaction to it: the rhythm of his strikes, the heat of the day in Baldur’s Gate warming him beneath his layers of apron and clothing. The ordinary busy noise of the city goes on just outside his focus, a subtle, stabilizing comfort even months after the Netherbrain’s defeat.
When he glances up from his work, a distinct figure catches his eye amongst the passersby. Rolan, with his proud bearing and his regal blue and red robes, coming toward the smithy with a tense, bothered scowl and his tail lashing behind him. A smile touches Dammon’s lips. He knows that look.
“I’ll be with you in a moment,” he says as Rolan comes to a stop an awkward few feet from the halfling waiting on her sword.
“Well, don’t take too long,” Rolan snaps, and then reddens further when Dammon raises an eyebrow at him. “Sorry. I’ll just—I’ll wait.”
Dammon lifts the blade off his anvil to study it. He smiles at the halfling as he passes her the sword.
“Give that a try. Come back if you need anything else.”
She moves off to the side to examine the blade, allowing Rolan to step up to the forge. He stands, arms crossed, his face flushed as he fixes Dammon with his bright yellow stare.
“Anything I can help you with, Rolan?” the blacksmith prompts.
Rolan sighs. He places his hands carefully on the edge of the anvil, glances again toward the halfling woman, and leans in toward Dammon.
“I need . . . Steel.”
Dammon breathes a good-natured chuckle.
“Come on,” he says, nodding over his shoulder toward the building. “I could use a break, anyway.”

PHILON AWARDS 2024: Nominations are open!!
After last year's successful relaunch of this beautiful celebration of fannish creativity, KiScon is honoured to once again host the Philon Awards. Established by Jenna Sinclair and Shelley Butler in 1997, they originally were an annual event organised by The K/S Press to honour outstanding authors and artists in K/S fandom. With the permission and support of Jenna and Shelley, KiScon is happy to continue this tradition.
There are 8 categories:
Short fic (word count under 10K)
Long fic (word count 10K-50K)
Novella/novel (word count over 50K)
Podfic
Traditional Art
Digital Art
Poetry
Zines
For each category the voters will determine a Gold (first place) and a Silver (second place) winner.
Rules
Nominating and Voting:
Nominations are open until 31 August, 2024. Each fan can nominate up to 3 works per category, but you cannot nominate the same work twice.
For a work to make it onto the voting ballot, it needs at least 3 nominations. Before we add it to the ballot, we will get in touch with the creator to ask whether they are fine with this!
Voting is open from 10 September to 27 October, 2024.
The winners will be announced during KiScon 2024. Each winner will receive a certificate and a small prize.
Nominating and voting both take place via Google Forms, and you need to be logged in in order to submit the form; this ensures that people do not nominate or vote multiple times for the same work. If we suspect sockpuppet activity, we will get in touch for clarification. We keep the nomination and voting process completely confidential! Only the KiScon concom will see the submitted forms.
While *we* won't talk about who nominated what, *you* can still discuss your faves and promote them, if you feel comfortable doing so. Making fellow fans aware of great works and sharing why you love and want to nominate them, is encouraged.
You can submit the nominations form only once, but you can edit your responses if you need to add or change something (just follow the link in the email you receive after submitting the form). Please make sure to include every fanwork you want to see on the shortlist. You cannot edit your responses after nominations have closed.
To answer a question we received last year: yes, you can nominate (and vote for) your own work(s). We won't judge you. ;-)
Fanworks:
The work must focus on the pairing Kirk/Spock or Kirk & Spock. Slash (romantic and/or sexual relationship) and gen (friendship) are equally eligible. If a fic includes Kirk and/or Spock in relationships with other characters, be they canonical or original, this does not disqualify the work for the Philon Awards, as long as the focus is clearly on Kirk and Spock's relationship.
Art must feature Kirk or Spock or both of them; additional characters in the artwork are allowed, but no depiction of Kirk/Other or Spock/Other.
All universes are welcome: TOS (series and movies), TAS, and reboot, Discovery and Strange New Worlds. AUs and mirror universe are equally allowed. Crossovers between different Trek franchises or between Trek and other media are permitted, as long as Kirk and Spock are the work’s main characters.
RPF works (e.g. Shatnoy) are not eligible.
All ratings and genres are allowed. If a work among your nominations includes strong elements that would merit a warning on the AO3 (e.g. rape, major character death etc.), we'd appreciate a heads-up on the nominations form, so that we can make sure to include the warning on the shortlist.
The work must be complete. It can be part of a series, but the work itself must not be a WIP (missing chapters or a draft/unfinished sketch).
The work must have been created and published (print or online) after last year's nomination period. So everything from 1 September 2023 onwards until the end of the current nomination phase (31 August 2024) is eligible. Reprints or uploads of earlier works (e.g. a fic you wrote and published a few years ago and uploaded to the AO3 only recently) cannot take part in this contest. If a multi-chapter fic was started earlier, but the date of completion falls within the eligible range, then it can also be nominated.
For podfic the creation/publication date of the actual podfic counts, not of the written fic that inspired it.
AI-generated fic is NOT allowed.
Traditional art means that it was hand-drawn or hand-painted; scanning or photographing the finished work in order to publish it online is allowed, of course.
With digital art, we mean art that was created by a fan artist directly on a tablet or computer, or art that started out as hand-drawn and underwent significant digital alterations in the next steps. We do NOT allow AI-generated art! Manips based on still images or photos of the actors are not eligible in this contest.
Zines: Both e-zines and print zines published between 1 September 2023 and 31 August 2024 are eligible.
Last but not least: these awards are meant to be fun and a celebration of the K/S fandom. The shortlist will double as lovely rec list! We get to talk about our faves and let the creators know that we love their works.
You can fill in the nominations form embedded on the KiScon website, or (if your device does not display it properly) you can find it directly at this link.

Angst
Fluff
Hurt/Comfort
Interested in supporting fellow participants? Need to engage the services of a cheerleader? Want to lament about your difficult muse? Join our HD/HC fest discord community! Open to 18+ only.
Timeline Prompting: Apr 2 - 30 Claiming: May 4 - July 1 Submissions due: Aug 2 Posting begins: Aug 23 Reveals: September
Your HD/HC Mods, @orangepellets, @peachpety, @vukovich banner art by @basiatlu
Rules & Guidelines below the cut.
PROMPTING
The prompting period is April 2 - 30.
You may submit as many prompts as you like. You do not have to create for the fest in order to post a prompt.
All prompts must be identified as one of the three accepted fest tropes: angst, fluff, or hurt/comfort combination. Any extra details are welcome. Please note, however, that these additional details are for inspiration only and creators are not obligated to adhere to them fully.
Self-prompts are allowed. There will be a space on the claiming form to add details for self prompts.
Prompts will be available for browsing as soon as prompting opens on April 2.
CLAIMING
The claiming period is May 4 - July 1.
Due to the nature of potential content, this fest is for participants aged 18 and over. Please do not sign up if you are not 18 by the time of claiming.
Upon signing up, you agree to the Rules and Guidelines of the fest.
Only one prompt may be claimed at a time. Prompts are assigned on a first come first serve basis. As such, should you have your eye on a specific prompt but are unable to claim it once claiming opens, a proxy is allowed to claim on your behalf.
If you fulfill your prompt with enough time before submissions, you're welcome to claim an additional prompt. We only ask that you submit your first work as per submission guidelines before claiming another.
Collaborations are welcome! Please only submit one claim form per collaboration and include the details of all participants.
Writer sign-up cap is set at 60. There is no cap for art, craft, or podfic.
If you wish to create art, craft, or podfic based on an existing fanwork, please submit it as a self prompt during the claiming period.
CREATING
All creations must fit into the ‘angst’, ‘fluff’, or ‘hurt/comfort’ categories. There are many themes that fall in line for fluff and angst, but below is a short list of suggestions to help inspire. If you have any doubts or questions about your theme(s), please reach out!
Angst Depression Addiction (alcohol, other drugs) Abuse (emotional, physical, sexual, etc) Infidelity Death Grief
Fluff Domesticity Slice of life Getting Together Meet Cute Found family Friends to Lovers
The main pairing for all creations is Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter. Participants may include any side-pairings, threesomes, and/or original characters, as long as the final submission is still a Drarry-centric piece. All ratings and archive warnings are accepted.
As this is an anonymous fest, please do not discuss your creations with anyone in a public forum outside the HD/HC Fest Discord, except for your alpha/beta readers and the fest mods until the reveals have been announced in September. Come join in our Discord fun here!
Ratings suggestions and additional details included for each prompt should be considered inspiration. Feel free to incorporate or ignore them as you see fit! Should you choose to gift your creation to the promptee, however, we ask that you honor any dislikes mentioned.
Please tag your works appropriately. Due to the nature of this fest, we want to ensure that everyone is informed of potentially triggering content. Please note, however, that all fluff entries must be HEA (Happily Ever After) and must not contain content that merits an archive warning.
If you’re unsure about tagging your work, please let the mods know, and we are happy to help. Please also note that we reserve the right to review your tags and warnings in relation to your content and may contact you to request additions and/or changes. While we can’t dictate consumption of our creations, we will strive to empower our readers/viewers with appropriate information to make an informed choice.
Author and Artist Guidelines
We will not accept works created with AI.
For fics, the minimum word count is 1000. We have elected to implement a cap on fics of 60k.
All fics must be proofread and follow generally accepted SPaG guidelines. If you are unable to find a beta to assist, please reach out to the mods, and we can provide further guidance.
All fics are posted anonymously, however for art we allow artists to include watermarks on their creations if they so wish.
Podfic Guidelines
Podfics are most certainly welcome, as long as they fit into the 'angst', 'fluff', or 'hurt/comfort' categories! If you intend to podfic a work that you did not originally create, please make sure you get permission from the original author to record it.
For podfics, the minimum word count of the recorded story is 1000, maximum 60k.
All podfics must be proofed. If you are unable to find a beta to assist, please reach out to the mods and we can provide further guidance.
Podfics will be posted anonymously, but podficcers are allowed to state their name in the podfic recording itself (not within their notes on the post).
Drop Outs/Extensions
Throughout the creation period, we'll send a couple of check-in emails—one month and one week before submissions are due. You're welcome to ask for an extension at that time. You're also welcome to contact the mods outside of the check-in period via email or Discord at any point to request one.
We know life likes to surprise us with the unexpected, so please know that if you need to drop out for any reason, that's ok! Just please let us know as early as possible.
SUBMITTING
Once you have completed your work, it’s time to submit!
Submissions are due August 2. If you finish before this date, you are welcome to submit early.
All works must be posted directly [HERE] to the HD Hurt/Comfort Fest 2024 AO3 collection. Podfics should be linked to the original work using the AO3 ‘Inspired By’ function, i.e: “This work is a remix, a translation, a podfic, or was inspired by another work” and pasting the URL of the original fic. Please contact the mods if you have any issues submitting your work.
Submissions must be complete works created for this fest. Please do not submit incomplete works or works that are a part of a series or a prequel/sequel to an existing work.
Due to the nature of content present in angsty creations in particular, we want to emphasize the importance of tagging. Please take care to tag for potentially triggering themes present in your work. If you have questions or need clarification on anything, please reach out to the mods, and we'll be happy to help!
Mods will also read through entries prior to posting to help ensure proper tagging. Should we believe any changes are necessary, we will reach out to you and ask you to make those.
Following successful upload of your work to the collection, please submit the completed submission header form below to [email protected] to confirm you have posted to the collection. We will respond with a confirmation email in a timely manner.
Submission header:
For Art and/or Fic: Title: Creator(s): Pairing(s): Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy, <any additional pairings> Rating: Word count/Art Medium: Warnings/Tags: Summary: Author's note: Link to work:
For Podfic: Title: Podficcer: Rating: Length: Warnings/Tags: Summary: Podficcer’s note: Link to podfic: Link to original work:
POSTING
Entries will be posted starting August 23.
In an effort to provide comfort to the hurt, a balm to soothe the pain, we will strive to post creations as pairs—one angst and one fluff per day. Each paired creation will have a stand-alone posting, but will include a link to its contrasting creation.
Of course, it's difficult to ensure we've got exactly equal numbers of angst and fluff pieces, and we don't want to limit creators, so we recognize things will in all likelihood be a little unbalanced.
This is ok though! As mods, we'll do our best to arrange the posting schedule to ensure an even distribution of excellent content.
Additionally, while we will not release a public posting schedule, we will inform participants prior to their anticipated post date.
Once your creation has been posted please be mindful not to reveal yourself as the creator through the duration of anon postings. After the mod reveals posting in September, you are free to claim your creation in personal posts to your heart’s content. Tag us @hd-hurtcomfort-fest in your posts on tumblr and we will reblog from the HD/HC Fest account!
While we hope that it will not happen, sometimes creations receive negative comments. If you receive a nasty or critical comment, please contact the mods asap. We are happy to work with you to address the situation, and will only step in to deal with it if that is your wish.
GENERAL/FAQ
Is this an 18+ fest? Yes, this fest is only open to creators over the age of 18 by the time of claiming (May 4 - July 15).
I want to submit a MCD prompt, is that allowed? Yes! Major Character Death certainly counts as angsty content. Our list of suggested themes is only a small handful of ideas. So feel free to submit away! Also, be sure to select the ‘angst’ option when you submit your prompt.
I don’t want any hurt, only fluffy happy endings. Can my prompt be fluff only? Yes! Just be sure to select the ‘fluff’ option when you submit your prompt.
I love content that features both angst and fluff. Can my prompt be a combination of both? Of course! Just be sure to select the ‘hurt/comfort’ option when you submit your prompt.
Does my angst fic/art have to have comfort? No! You can write/create 100% angst, such as MCD, or pain & anguish without a happy ending if that's where your muse leads you.
What if I want to write hurt & comfort? Go for it!
I want to write/draw/create only cute & fluffy content, is that allowed? YES! We encourage creations of 100% fluff in this fest! Bring on all the meet cutes & sweet happy endings.
What if I don't want my entry to post with a corresponding [fluff||angst] piece? The entire premise of this fest is that angst and fluff pieces will get posted together. Although there will inevitably be an excess of one type of entry, resulting in slight augmentations to posting, there's no way we can make a fair commitment to post specific entries without a corresponding creation on the opposite side of the spectrum. We are happy to discuss your hesitation with you, but if you still have reservations, this particular fest might not be for you, and that's ok!

Dreamling for Ukraine fundraiser
Dear fellow Dreamers, as the war in Ukraine rages on, events have reached another horrifying zenith with the destruction of Kakhovka Dam, causing a chain reaction of disaster.
Today we are coming together as a fandom in a collective effort to raise donations for the victims in need.
How it works:
In order to raise funds, creators of the fandom will offer their services under #DreamlingforUkraine in exchange for donations.
Every participating creator will create a list of what they offer, their prices, number of slots and expected turnaround times. You will then be able to approach your chosen creator and commission a piece of fanwork by donating to a charity that provides aid to the victims.
See our list of recommended charities HERE.
How to participate as a creator:
Sign-ups are open until July 17th 2023! To enter the charity drive and offer your services you will be required to make your own event post and submit it to the tag #DreamlingforUkraine.
You may use our template to set up your post. Set your prices at your own discretion, any agreement will be between you and the donor.
Tag our event blog @dreamlingforukraine to make sure we can add you to the creators masterlist.
There is no deadline for accepting donations or posting your works. We recommend keeping your slots open until at least July 7th 2023 or until you’ve reached your cap. Please remember that you will be expected to finish everything you have agreed to make, so be sure not to take on more slots than you can fill! You may set a minimum donation amount or word limit and include things you are and aren't willing to write/draw/make.
You are invited to share how much money you have raised with the team of @dreamlingforukraine by sending us an ask so that we can keep track of how much we’ve raised. This is not mandatory and all numbers will be added together and published strictly anonymously.
Dreamling for Ukraine is open to all kinds of media, even if you don’t write or draw you may offer things like moodboards, gifsets, fanvids, podfic or playlist. We also accept diy submissions such as cosplay, crocheting/knitting, cooking/baking and anything else. We also have a collection on ao3 for the event.
IMPORTANT! When you submit your works to the Dreamling for Ukraine collection on AO3 DO NOT mention that you made it in return for monetary compensation (this includes donations even if they are for charity) you can thank your donor for their support or use other vague wording that does not mention money if you want to.
How to participate as a donor:
Keep an eye on the tag #DreamlingforUkraine or refer to our growing masterlist of participants.
Choose a charity of your liking and then approach the creator of your choice.
It will be between you and the creator to agree on a type of commission and a price.
Please do not donate before you have negotiated all terms with your creator and have their go. Your donations will be non-refundable.
PLEASE NOTE: The event team and event blog are here to boost attention for the charity drive and its participants. We do not take any responsibility for the fulfillment of your commissions or on behalf of the charities you donate to. If there are any problems please contact the creator or charity directly.

Hello fellow Stricklake fans! August is still an entire month away, but it is time to once again get excited for Stricklake Month!
What is Stricklake month? Stricklake month is a month-long event during August, with two prompts to choose from each week. Our prompts this year will be:
Week 1 (August 1 - 6): Utopia / Dystopia
Week 2 (August 7 - 13): Royalty / Guardian
Week 3 (August 14 - 20): Childhood Friend / Mysterious Stranger
Week 4 (August 21 - 27): Water / Fire
All mediums of fanworks are welcome so long as the relationship of Barbara Lake and Walter Strickler is the focus, and you are free to choose and fill as many prompts for as many weeks as you like - no pressure and no obligation!
To participate, simply tag your fills #keenswimmers2023 and consider reblogging this post to spread the word. But especially support your fellow fans and creators with reblogs and comments and spread the love! 💚💙
@pinkytoothlesso11 has volunteered to put together the weekly roundup posts this year, so keep an eye out for those. She also helped come up with the prompts list, thank you Pinky!
And that should be all for now! We hope by releasing the prompts a month early you will have some extra time to prepare and come up with great ideas. As always let me know if you have any questions about Stricklake month. Have fun and hope to see you all in August!

Hey there everyone, I know I have been inactive for a while so seeing me posting again might be a shock. Anyway, I am writing this to say that the harassment of others in a community is not okay and should never be tolerated. Some people think that just because you are on the other side of a screen it is okay to spew out whatever thoughts that come into your head, no matter how toxic. Those people need to realize that tearing down others just to build themselves up does not make them better than the person they are harassing and hurting. It just makes them look like jerks.
Today I found out that unfortunately Jael Peñaloza, a very talented creator in the Undertale fandom that many including myself; were inspired by, is taking a possibly indefinite hiatus due to malicious individuals who have been spreading hate and harassment towards her for quite some time. The fact it got to this point is unacceptable. I completely support Jael in her decision to take a break, it couldn't have been an easy choice to make. Mental health is no joke and I hope she takes all the time she needs and more to heal from this terrible experience. I am going to leave a link at the bottom of this post for those interested in getting the full details or those just wanting to show their support for Jael.
I would like to say that if you are one of the people who harassed and tore down Jael to this point, Shame is only the precursor to what you should be feeling. As regret and disgust at your own actions should follow soon after. You have completely twisted what being a member of this community should entail. Instead of supporting your fellow community members you tore them down, Instead of listening to reason you blocked out all rational thoughts and blindly cast blame, instead of showing kindness you were cruel in your words and actions. You all should reflect on these truths and try to better yourselves before you re-enter any fandom. If after reading this you still see nothing wrong with what you did then there is no place for you in my community or in this fandom.
Finally, to the Undertale community I want to say that even if Underverse doesn't come back the fandom will still be able to live on as long as we all keep creating and supporting one another. The Undertale fandom isn't just one fanwork, it is all of us together making art, stories and all sorts of wonderful fan works for the game we love. Stay determined.
❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜

1016 Week 2023!
Hello and happy Monza weekend, fellow Piarlies! ❤️💙 It's with great love and excitement that we're sharing with you the idea behind our next Pierre/Charles event: 1016 Week! We chose Monza to do the grand reveal because we couldn't think of any place that has better Piarles history - and that's what this fanweek is going to be all about. Celebrating Piarles, and all their gorgeous history, and everything that they are. ❤️
You can find all the details and arrangements for the event below the cut! <3
How is this event going to work?
If you've ever participated in a ship week/fanweek before, then this will work exactly the same as that! We've created a list of seven Piarles-themed prompts, one for each day of the event, and the idea is that everyone creates a little something inspired by each prompt to post on its specific day.
1016 Week will run from the 10th to the 16th (🥰) October 2023. Creation time starts as soon as you've got your prompts - which is to say, as soon as you finish reading this post!
We'd like this to be a fun and stress-free challenge for everyone, so we've tried to build in plenty of creation time for you all. Furthermore, we will not be enforcing deadlines very strictly at all - so if you do happen to miss a day or two, absolutely no worries! We will keep reblogging 1016 Week content to this blog right through to the end of the year. 💙
What kinds of content can I create for this event?
Any and all types of creative fanwork - fic, art, gifsets, photo edits, video edits, playlists and more - are welcomed in this fanweek! The only criterion is that its main focus must be the relationship between Pierre Gasly and Charles Leclerc.
Furthermore, there are no content restrictions for this challenge - NSFW, dark, or otherwise uncomfortable topics are accepted. However, we require any such content to be clearly identified in your title/summary/blurb and placed under a read-more cut, so that those who aren’t comfortable with seeing it can avoid it.
Prompts are general, and creators are free to interpret them however you want! As long as it's about Pierre Gasly and Charles Leclerc, and has something of the prompt's general theme in it, anything goes. ❤️
Do I have to complete all 7 days to be allowed to participate?
Not at all! You are free to complete as few or as many of the prompts as you want, and you can submit as many or as few creations per day as the muse inspires. 😁
When you've finished your creation and you're ready to share it with the Pierre/Charles world, @ this blog and use #1016 week 2023 in your first five tags so we can find and reblog your work. Don't forget to add what day of the prompt week your creation is fulfilling!
For our writers and artists who'd like to add your work to AO3: we've created an AO3 Collection where you can post all your creations for this event! You can find it on the Archive as 1016 Week 2023 (1016Week_2023). Be sure to post to Tumblr as well, because we'll be reblogging all 1016week content to this blog too! 💙
Where and how do I sign up?
This is a super low-pressure event, so there's no need to worry about an official sign-up! You can just like or reblog this post (& give this blog a follow!) to show your support <3
It's our honour and pleasure to host this fanweek over at the Calamars Club Discord server. If you're not a part of the server and you'd like to be, just message a mod for the invite link. Your mods for this event are the epic team of @singsweetmelodies, @boxboxbrioche, @welightitup, @duquesademiel, @wolfiemcwolferson and @river-ocean!
@ Pierre/Charles shippers across Tumblr and AO3: we hope that this event will make you smile this September and October <333 We are so excited to share this with you all! ❤️💙

creator signups begin soon!
fanwork creators, it's almost time! Starting February 6th, you'll be able to sign up to offer fanworks in the 2023 auction. (see the full auction calendar here.)
We're supporting some truly amazing nonprofits this year: you can see the full 2023 list here. We'll be posting more detailed information about each of them in the coming week.
Now is a great time to:
start thinking about what kinds of fanworks you want to offer, and in which fandoms. FTH welcomes written fanworks, vids, various kind of art, and podfics -- and we even have an "other" category for the truly uncategorizable digitally-delivered fanwork. (And if you're interested in tangible fancrafts, you could take part in our semi-official crafts bazaar!)
spread the word to other creators in your fandom. The auction is just more fun if there are lots of people offering fanworks in your fandom! And you are the best person to get more of your fellow-fans involved: read more about that here!
(what is FTH?)

Fandom Trumps Hate 2023
Tumblr media
[Image description: Fandom Trumps Hate. Do you create the Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System fanworks? Help raise money for progressive causes with FTH 2023. Signups open Feb 6! End image description.]
Fandom Trumps Hate 2023 creator signups are open! FTH is an online, pan-fandom fanworks auction, designed to raise money for progressive nonprofit organizations. Fan creators offer works (written works, digital art, podfics, fanvids, fan labor, etc.) to bidders, the winning bidders then donate to the chosen organizations, then the creators create requested works as a gift for that person to thank them for this donation.
A full rundown of FTH, including the auction calendar, can be found through their Tumblr or through their Carrd. Creator signups close on Feburary 19th, 2023. Bidding opens on March 1st, 2023.
SVSSS currently has 12 creator offers so far! And of our sibling fandoms on that list, MDZS has 15 and TGCF has 7! If you’re interested in taking on some prompts from fellow fans in order to support a good cause, FTH can be a lot of fun. I’ve participated in FTH a couple times now (I wrote 4 new SVSSS fics as gifts last year), so if anyone has any questions about my personal experience participating as both a writer and a bidder, feel free to drop me an ask or a message. You can also find the FTH team’s super helpful Signup Tips For First Time Creators on their blog.
Participating as a bidder can be a lot of fun, even if you don’t win. You can find a bunch of new authors, artists, and other creators for your fandoms. If you do win, you can request more fic for your favorite rarepair! (I wrote a Yue Qingyuan / Shang Qinghua fic last year!) You can request more art for your favorite character! If you have an idea that you’ve been itching to see happen, you can ask a fellow fan to finally bring it to life for you!
You can follow @fandomtrumpshate here on Tumblr to stay up to date. Please consider reblogging this post to let your fellow SVSSS fans know or sharing their Carrd on Twitter or in your Discord group! ❤

Hello! This is incredibly random, but as a fanartist, enjoyer of critically examining media, and critic of capitalist corporations (*cough* Disney), do you have any thoughts about fan art being a form of unpaid labour?
Context is I’m writing an essay about digital labour and how fan creation is basically kind of like free PR for big corporations… and now whenever I do fanart I can’t get that thought out of my head uGH. I want to believe that drawing fanart is my own form of creative expression and way of showing love for the media, but at the same time I’m like “am I being exploited???” since I’m helping advertise smth for free and these corporations are just capitalizing on my love for said media??? and I can’t reconcile these thoughts 🥲🫠
Also I’m struggling with the essay LOL my eventual conclusion is that we as fans do have agency but we kind of still are being exploited… so it’s not a very optimistic outlook haha. Doesn’t help that the scholars’ articles I’m reading are all very negative about this digital labour thing. Help.
Sorry if this is unexpectedly deep!! 😅 just really curious to hear a fellow fanartist’s thoughts, and I respect you a lot for being unafraid to criticize media 🙏🙏
Hi! First of thank you for your kind words~ Second off, what a cool concept to discuss. Your message is pretty much how I feel. It is very frustrating to remember that so much of the media I love is so closely tied to the harmful cycle of capitalism. I grew up in a country that didn't have access to merch or much in the way of official media so piracy was my go-to most of the time. This means I was introduced to the concept of consumerist aspects of fandom via the Internet as a teenager and started feeling bad about "not supporting" stuff I love, but I told myself "Well I pay back by doing fanart and talking about it online". And then I found out about the way capitalism shapes the media landscape and started feeling bad for playing into it, the same as you. It gets even more conflicting when I am talking about something I dislike made by a company I dislike - yeah, I am probably preventing some people from interacting with the media for themselves, but I am also probably making others interested. What makes me feel better about the entire thing is that the "digital labour" I do is that I'm doing it for other fans like me, and to express myself. I love things so much that it makes me feel like I am going to explode, but pouring it out onto paper helps with it! Of course, I don't have to post it online for it to be worthwhile, but sharing it with others who feel the way I do makes the feelings even better. BUT one of the most important aspects of the issue is how willing those companies are to let me gain something monetary from the relationship. Are they ignoring fanworks being sold as fan merch, as commissions? It is illegal, but I feel like it should absolutely be allowed as a sort of unmentioned perk of being a fan worker, and the companies that don't allow that are evil. My audience gets bigger, I sell more prints, and so do they. (This is also why I never accept money for fanworks made by small creators, such as webcomics)
There's also the fact that lately I've been seeing the rise of "If you REALLY love this piece of media, it is your DUTY to consume it as much as possible and spread the word about it as much as possible and make the company as much money as possible if you want to see more things like it!" takes. These are utter bullshit and where enjoyment of media goes to die. The moment you reduce your love for something only to how much money it can make the evil capitalist overlords who allowed it to grace your eyes, you completely deny any kind of artistic worth. Media should exist because we deserve to have our hearts touched by stories, not because it makes someone money.
I don't have a clear answer or feel like my approach to the issue goes entirely along with my morality. But I don't think we can find a way to feel good about the entire situation as long as our media is dictated by capitalism. It's the sad reality of loving something in a system that will squeeze any money out of you that it can. But we gotta march on, remember that we are the ones allowing them to survive and not the other way around, and love while we do it. Good luck with your essay, stay positive!

If you have any questions, please feel free to send us an ask!
Good morning everyone, We are absolutely delighted to see the number of fics submitted to us to read and review, and absolutely thrilled that so many share our excitement about promoting and sharing BG3 fanfic works. Ultimately our goal, as fellow fanfic authors ourselves, is to share our love for fanfiction (particularly those set in the BG3 universe) and help foster a mutual sense of community and care. We have received a few asks that have asked us for more specifics about what we hope to do and how, and we would like to encourage fanfic authors to send through more questions like that (which you can do here). We are open to engaging with our community, and would like to be able to respond to any queries and concerns that others may share. We want to give as detailed and helpful a response as we possibly can. As fellow fanfic writers, we've seen for ourselves how difficult it can be as a fanfic author (and fanwork creator generally) to have safe, supportive spaces for our work. That is our ultimate goal. We want to uplift fanfic writers and boost our mutual love of creation through positive engagement and support. As we grow, we hope to one day build more hands-on communities of support to assist writers in learning more about the art of writing and how to improve their work, but this would be on a strictly opt-in basis if authors feel they would like to work together to improve their work. The intention is not and will never be to judge others' work per se, only to strengthen the community in a positive way and uplift fellow writers. As such, please, feel free to send us asks if you have any questions about what we hope to do and how. We are thinking of putting together a mega asks response post or FAQ post of sorts to answer those asks, and your input is incredibly valuable to us. It will take us some time to compile that, as we want to be an inclusive as we possibly can. Thank you for sharing your passion and enthusiasm for this project with us, and we will do our best to answer your questions to the best of our ability. Be well and keep writing, The BG3 Fic Reviews team

3, 13, and 16 please!
Hi Suzi! Thank you for the ask 🤍
3. What do you love about fanworks in the fandom?
I love that we're supportive of one another. Although it's small, there's always someone who's ready to yell into a void over something. There are so many headcanons that are accepted, the same character can be written with some differences yet they're still canon and in-character. Plus, everyone is amazingly talented (and good-looking).
13. What's your favorite moment during your time in the fandom?
Not many people know about this (as in, only two people know) but @caitkaminski knows. Two words: Italy, sidewalk.
No, but seriously, just meeting some amazing people that I wouldn't have met otherwise. It's amazing how a little mobile game brought so many people together!
16. Who are some of your favorite fan-creators/mutuals/etc?
@beesandfigsart! Bea is always so sweet and is amazing to work with 🤍
My crew: @justtuesdays, @whatisreggieshortfor, @csmicletters and @perfectlysunny02, of course
Cait (who I already tagged above in question 13), who probably knows more about me than anyone else in the fandom.
@lasswithumor my fellow observant hater lol
ofc, you, @longbobmckenzie, @queen-of-boops, @0shewrites0 - you're all a joy to talk to and I have things you've written that I'd rec to everyone 🤍
