Holiday/Dreemurr Sleepover
I would've made Dess look more like Carol, but I started drawing this before I got to chapter four.
I drew this because of tenna's dialogue about how December would play along to the TV's nasty, nasty songs and wasn't she so...cool?
idk it made me want to draw it

What are your thoughts on people headcanoning the mercs with personality disorders? As someone who has ASPD, would you find it uncomfortable if someone who doesn't have the disorder headcanoned one of the mercs having it? Sorry if the question is disrespectful, i'm just genuinely curious!
Yeah.
I got so annoyed I blocked someone a while ago for headcanoning Spy as having ASPD. They initially called him a sociopath or psychopath, I can't recall which, so that was strike one. And then when called out for it they doubled down by insisting he defo had ASPD. And I got so pissed off by their "reasoning" for it that I blocked them so I'd never have to see any of their shitty ableist takes again.
It's one thing when people who have these disorders (and the experience and stigma that comes with them) make these headcanons.
It's another when someone who doesn't have these disorders makes them, because oftentimes their headcanon is based heavily on stigma and stereotypes. "Spy has BPD because he's manipulative", "Sniper has ASPD because he kills people for a living and is a cool cucumber and people with ASPD are violent and have no empathy or emotions", etc. All it does is contribute further to stigma and it's worst with things like Cluster B disorders or psychotic disorders. Look at how much stigma identity disorders have because of films like Split.
A minor side-note: on the other side of this, I also don't like the "watering down" and uwu-fication of mental illness. ASPD is not the "evil bad person disorder" and just because someone has ASPD doesn't mean they're automatically violent. That said, for me specifically, ASPD does make me violent, and there's an issue of people watering down the "antisocial" part of ASPD when trying to defend their headcanons. Saying "people with ASPD aren't violent" is just flat-out wrong, just like saying "people with ASPD are violent" is also wrong. We're humans with variation and our disorder affects each of us differently. I think sometimes people are so into softening the blow of Evil Bad Person Disorder that they'd immediately become ableist to anyone with ASPD who isn't their paragon of perfection and shows any clinical symptoms they don't personally find acceptable (aggression and violence is a clinical ASPD symptom). They do this with any autistic that doesn't fit their uwu shyboi aesthetic as well.
Cluster Bs, psychotic disorders, and being intersex are all some things I personally consider "shelved" where people shouldn't fucking touch them unless they have personal experience with them because they're all already heavily stigmatised and I've yet to see representation done of them by someone who doesn't have them that ISN'T based in societal stigma or harmful stereotypes.
Tack addiction onto that, actually. I'm tired of the "homeless addict mugs guy in alleyway" and "violent alcoholic husband" and "girl in young 20s shooting her life away" tropes. I'm sick of suffering and the trauma that drives someone towards substance abuse being a punchline or a plot twist. I'm tired of the stigma from people with no experience. It's punching down. People say crackhead like it's a slur.
This became a tangent, my apologies. Yes, it bothers me. It makes me uncomfortable. On this note I also despise people that self-diagnose as "the big three Cluster Bs" (ASPD, NPD, BPD) in particular because they're practically always basing this self-dx on stereotypes instead of actual diagnostic criteria. And half the time they're doing it because they think the stigma makes them look cool. "Ooooh look at me I'm a ✨psychopath✨". It's annoying. And it doesn't help people actually suffering from mental illness. I hope those people drown.

My old prologue for my book about my OCs
(Prolly scrapping this because I had a new idea so sharing!)
It was almost too perfect of a day.
Perfect sales revenue for the month, not too much of the typical hubbub thanks to Mrs Marlborough not showing up and even a new deal closed with the Antonescu Family - the day was shaping up to be a phenomenal day of business for Enola. Yet, as she sat by the main counter, silently counting up the earnings of the day before she could close up for the night, a feeling of unease crept up upon her. Today was perfect. Too perfect. No matter how much she tried to bury that thought, it snuck back into her mind, almost as if someone was annoying her by repeating the words into her ear. Her brow creased in frustration. And then, there it was.
Three jaunty knocks at the shop door.
Her head turned upwards. She had played this charade before. Enola quickly placed the cash back inside the register, locked it shut, and placed a hand on her cane, pushing herself off of the stool.
“We’re closed! Come back tomorrow!”
“Please Miss Winthrop, just a moment of your time if I may!” came the wheezy voice from the other side.
Enola groaned. This had better be the last time. She reluctantly made her way to the door, and opened it, recognising the young navy-blue haired girl with orange eyes and a purple hat, adorned with many kinds of flowers; someone Enola had gotten all too familiar with these past two weeks.
“Luculia.” she flashed a dry smile “What brings you back here?”
Luculia stopped to catch her breath for a moment, before speaking up again.
“I’m here… to try again… Please.” She looked at Enola through pleading eyes as Enola weighed her options. Bloody hell. What was she going to do differently this time? Enola let out a frustrated sigh. “Fine. Come in.”
She hobbled in, heading for her desk; Luculia followed. She sat down again, facing Luculia on the other side. “So,” she began “Tell me why you should get another chance at this.”
“... You’re… not giving me chances, are you.” Luculia remarked. “I’ve seen what other people have said about you. People who you’ve turned away. You’re a refined, thoughtful lady… but you nitpick other’s flaws easily. That’s why you’re so understaffed, isn’t it? You see minor flaws as… weaknesses?”
Enola froze, and had to reexamine the girl carefully for a moment. That was a first. “So you’re saying? I like my workers to be in good condition. To be able to be dedicated for the role, so to speak. What can you offer?”
Luculia seemed determined not to lose this battle again.
“I’m asking you to give me a chance. To prove myself. You like to be rid of people before they get the chance to show you what they’ve got…” She paused, considering her next words carefully.
“So let me prove you wrong. Let me change your mind by showing you my skills, and how I can benefit your brand by putting them to use.”
Goodness. Now that was food for thought. Enola sat in silence for a moment, taking everything in as she clasped her hands together in front of her.
“... Miss Winthrop?”
“... Fine.”
Luculia’s eyes widened. “Wait, seriously?”
Enola sighed then nodded, her expression still thoughtful. “Do I have to say it again? But… you’ve shown me an interesting side of yourself tonight, Miss Bougainvillea. I look forward to seeing you, in your words, ‘put it to good use’.”
The girl smiled widely in response “Ah, thank you so much! I’ll make you proud, I promise!”
Enola grimaced a little, remembering just how much energy she’d had upon their previous meetings. Oh sisters. “Yes, yes, you’ll start Monday. Be here as soon as the shop opens - we’ll discuss your working times then. Now please go home. I have important things to do, as you know.”
Luculia pointed at her with both index fingers in a confusing motion, thumbs raised. “You got it! Thanks for this!” And just like that, the ball of energy was up and out in no time.
EXTRA CONTEXT
Fun fact: Remus influenced Luculia to try and gaslight Enola into getting a job 😭😭 (Another OC I need to infodump on omg my guy does NOT have a track record of being a good influence)
Mrs Marlborough is a background character! I have like a digital drawing of her even from a few months ago but that might get posted in the Winthrop lore dump, planning on making others maybe based off of old OCs for the story
Thinking of making this the canon anecdote of Lu getting hired, though COULD make adjustments idk I'd like to see you guys's thoughts too

dropping this #crazy worldbuilding lore drop from the comments on ch. 8 because i think it might make things less confusing as well? i'm always dropping all sorts of rm au things in the comments that i forget to share here, which is a shame
anyways (i'm just copy-pasting this)
The shutdown vs. recharge thing is some rough worldbuilding on my part, I'll admit. Restarting a computer frequently can actually wear down its components, but shutdown is okay. However, with Cybertronians, stasis does seem like it can be likened to a medically-induced coma of sorts, especially since emergency stasis is also a thing.
Going off of that, I basically decided that there are three main ways a Cybertronian 'sleeps'.
1.) Proper recharge, which involves literally recharging. This gets their power back up to 100% percent.
2.) Improper recharge. Since Cybertronians are way more advanced than Earth technology, I basically headcanon it that they have a main battery of sorts and a back up one. Whenever I mention energy reserves, I'm talking about the backup energy. The problem with this method of recharge is that you aren't plugged in and your mind is still active. So it depletes energy still.
3.) Stasis. This is more like being unconscious/in a coma. Or, in computer terms, shutdown. Defragmentation has the chance of being stalled if a computer shutdowns. Processors are a Cybertronian's brain, and when people sleep, their minds are still awake and decompartmentalizing everything. That's like defragging for a computer.
So while stasis isn't bad in terms of potentially being less physically tired, the processor itself is still going to slow down. In Prowl's case, being unable to sort through his memories is what is causing the hallucinations to worsen. But that is also why he unlocks fragments of memories whenever he recharges.

Okay what if I elaborate a little bit. About the Mani-coded Heathers post. You have to be nicies to me about it, though. Play my game. Okay.
I think Veronica Sawyer is VERY MUCH the type of "girl" Mani is, or at least strives to embody. Not sure if this exactly translates to the person Moe was, at that time. A solid... maybe? Mani is the culmination of Moe's most hated traits about itself from that time period. So the reflection is a bit squewed, warped by loathing and impossible standards. But, also worth saying! The broader personalities are very alike, here!
MANI FACTS: Mani is shallow, cowardly, seeking only its own safety ESPECIALLY through an acceptable level of conformity and subsequent desirability, at the cost of its integrity and so much more. It's a fake ass bitch and I would HATE to be associated with it.
So what's going on, here.
If I were to assign two (2) songs to Mani ESPECIALLY. It would be Seventeen (it's vaguely 19 but nevermind that) and Dead Girl Walking REPRISE. REPRISE. Funnily enough the only track I feel is uncomfortably against Mani's Entire Fucking Deal is Dead Girl Walking. HOWEVER. Dead Girl Walking could work as a metaphor. The personality of it all is also very intact. Man what's that post again that goes "I will sexualize the horrifying and find horror in the sexualized". Mani is the one finding horror in the sexualized. Not in a trite broad statement way either it is going to PERSONALLY subject you to psychological Horrors about it.
MANI FACTS: Mani is an unreliable narrator who loves to convey information in obtuse and roundabout ways. Often getting theatrical with it. It's especially a fan of utilizing the Weirdness of dreams. I dreamt that I was in the role of someone else, style. This is beyond Book 4 lore at this point btw, it's just. An ongoing occurrence, now.
So what does all this MEAN.
Well. Heather Chandler is very much a metaphor, here, a representation of what Mani is attempting to achieve but can never truly grasp. The hyper femininity and everything that comes with it, "good" and Bad (mostly BAD). That's a given, here. Mani can convincingly mimic it, but can never fully Live it.
But WAY more importantly and actually relevant to the songs listed earlier. In the role of JD, is someone who really Shouldn't BE in that role. The entirety of JD's character is a reflection of that person. Not a one-to-one, mind you... it's never quite a one-to-one, with Mani. It's speaking through metaphors and leaving breadcrumbs. JD is also a reflection of what Mani wants, or wanted. An ideal, a wish. That... really cannot be fulfilled. I mean. Are you aware of how Heathers ends... 🧍
MANI FACTS: Mani is ALWAYS. ALWAYS. Forced into Roles that don't fit it, that don't make any sense, ranging from generally unpleasant at best to mortifyingly painful and horrifically harrowing and just deeply agonizing and so on.
Alfonse is often forced into the role of that person. He plays the part, accordingly. He's a really good sport about it actually.
MANI FACTS: It is not a good person and neither is Moe. I think we should kill them both
