Get to Know Your Fanfic Writer
Tagged by: @daincrediblegg
When did you post your first ever fanfic? Oh goodness. I have to say this was actually 2004. I posted a fanfic I wrote for a friend. (I used to write for friends more than myself). I wrote a fanfic of a folk story regarding her OC and Vasilisa! First Character(s) you wrote? A little man called Wylenn who went to sea to find love. The story was original as was the character. He was born from my desire and allure to the vastness of the ocean. And I wanted to escape from the smallness of the village I lived in.
Main Character(s) you’re currently writing? OCs Heinrich Cornelius Reiss - A horrific man with a moral compass that spins wildly off the track. Skills that no man should have and a charming nature that makes him dangerous. Erebus (Wilbur) Flamel - A poor scrap of a man that desires nothing but freedom and exploration. He finds peace in travel and geographic expeditions and has been a pirate most his life. He is in bondage to the British Admiralty now in the current works. If he does not go and do as the Admiralty wishes then he is tried as a criminal and he and his crew are executed. Non-OCs: John Irving - the Terror. Heinrich falls madly in love with John Irving and contends with the reality that he is a terrible man who loves someone whom he sees as being a very very good man. Conflicting his own villainous nature to Irving's "altruism". This gives him a horrific crisis of self. Francis Crozier - Deigns it wise to accept the aid of the Revenge whilst they are frozen in together. Grows to find comfort in the younger man. I will not be elaborating too much further. Thomas Jopson - No elaboration on this.
Character(s) you haven’t written about before but plan to write about soon? Looking to explore other characters and character dynamics. I have a lot of fluidity in character structure but struggle with broad dialogue so I challenge myself in this way.
Platonic pairing(s) you’re currently writing? Heinrich and Hickey at the top. And then Erebus is platonic with almost everyone simply because he struggles with feeling worthy of anything. Erebus and Goodsir for certain. Goodsir, through his immense empathy, feels and sees that Erebus struggles inside, choosing to focus on providing whatever aid and help he can to others as a distraction. Heinrich does not trust Hickey but finds his character amusing. Romantic pairing(s) you’re currently writing? Erebus with Francis Crozier and Heinrich and Jirving. Erebus sees his own pain and misery inside Francis. He sees broken things and believes it will mend himself if he heals other people. It's so easy to provide support, love and care for others. Yet with Francis it terrifies him. He fears that he will not be able to live sanely once his job is done. Heinrich has never struggled with morality. He has never cared. He questions why he cares so much. He could watch every man aboard these ships perish and he would sleep perfectly comfortable for the rest of his life. Until John Irving. Who has crippled everything he thought he was and ruined him. Your top AO3 tags? Whump - Original Characters - Original Story - Dead Dove: Do Not Eat - Porn with Plot - Porn Without Plot Snippet of the WIP you are currently working on?
A hundred good folks rested on his shoulders. Erebus was young, certainly. A fool? Never. Erebus knew better and was fully aware that the English had no intentions of keeping him. They took and they took and they took. They robbed peoples for a pass-time. Even if not literally he knew the damages done to the good indigenous folks across the Oceans. From Haiti to New Zealand to Australia. From Dominica to Puerto Rico and every unfortunate islet in between. If it smelt nice and tasted nice then certainly it must belong to the British Empire. Who best to be the ruination of fine things in life than the English? They could not even respect their own neighbours. To them, too, they fucked the peoples raw and sapped them of any scrap of dignity upon which they may stand on proper legs. Oppression was the biscuits they ate with their pilfered tea. The idea of the British Empire being called a Monarchy was a sick and laughable joke. Erebus could only see these thieves and oppressors as Royal Kleptocracy at best.
He saw what had become of the villages and towns. Of the people that produced their teas and coffees and sugarcane. Of their rum and their rich fine goods. Of the hands that built their little empire on the slave labour of the native folks that were forced under the reddened leather of the English.  (Re-writing some background information as important filler data) Tagging: Anyone and everyone I suppose. I don't actually know many other writers and everyone, I believe has been tagged already? By all means, take this! Run with it! Run free!

Child!ClingyDuo toilet paper Wilbur's room, while child!Ranboo suffers.
(kid!benchtrio takes revenge on wilbur for embarrassing tommy. mostly just ranboo suffering though.)
“How dare he! He seriously made such a fool of me like that?!” Tommy uttered.
Ranboo raised an eyebrow.
“So what happened again? Because Tommy has been ranting about this for, like, an hour, and I still don’t know what he did,” Ranboo interjected, with obvious confusion in his voice.
Tommy gasped, offended. He seriously didn’t know what had happened? Such a terrible, disastrous thing he had done, and this tall, lanky, annoying fellow didn’t even know? Tommy had made such an educating speech, and nothing had come out of it?!
“You seriously don’t know what happened?!” Tommy scoffed. “It was terrible, he made such a fool of me!”
Tommy was obviously overdramatizing what had happened, so Tubbo stepped in to explain it.
“To put it shortly, Wilbur tricked Tommy into going with him into a haunted house, recorded him, and used his extremely girly screaming as blackmail,” Tubbo explained. “Then, he posted it onto the internet for the whole world to see.”
Tommy’s eyes widened, once again. It annoyed him how such a simple statement could sum up this disastrous situation. Plus, he didn’t scream like a girl! He had a very manly scream, the manliest scream of all! Of course, he had to talk back.
“This isn’t simple humiliation! He’s made a fool of me, tarnished my reputation!” Tommy insisted. “I’ll be the talk of the school, everybody will laugh! Most importantly, I’ll never get any women!”
“Tommy, you do know that we’re 8-year-olds, in a sandpit, sounding like we’re plotting a murder?” Ranboo sighed exasperatedly.
Tubbo smirked at the idea.
“I mean, I wouldn’t be so against the idea of murder. I’ve wanted to test out my toy nuke, anyways,” he hummed.
Ranboo shook his head erratically, while Tommy was nodding along at the idea.
“Nope! Nope, nope, nope. We are not murdering a fellow child, especially not a 13-year-old,” Ranboo disagreed. “That is a terrible idea.”
Both Tommy and Tubbo rolled their eyes at the same time. There Ranboo was, ruining their fun again. Ugh.
“So then, what do you suggest we do? Steal his lunch money? Lame,” Tommy snickered.
Both Ranboo and Tubbo paused in thought, as Ranboo scratched his chin and Tubbo tapped his foot.
“How about we toilet paper his room?” Tubbo offered. “We could steal some from Tommy’s washroom, go to Wilbur’s room, and just throw some toilet paper around.”
Tommy gasped. What a great idea! That’d ought to teach him a lesson. He and Tubbo made further plans, not noticing that Ranboo had gone silent. Soon, they began wrapping up their plan and got ready to execute it.
“So, everyone’s okay with trashing Wilbur’s room? We agree that it’d be mutually beneficial? Yes?” Tubbo confirmed.
Ranboo just sighed.
“Okay, that’s…a fun…idea,” he started. “But here’s another idea! How about… we don’t do that?” he suggested.
Tubbo and Tommy just turned around and stared.
So, it was the next day, and here Ranboo was, in Tommy’s washroom, gathering toilet paper for this little prank of theirs. What had his life become?
“Hurry up! Wilbur’s back home from his lessons in half an hour,” Tommy exclaimed into Ranboo’s earpiece. How they had obtained an earpiece, Ranboo wasn’t quite sure.
“I’m hurrying! It isn’t exactly easy to carry 5 rolls of toilet paper,” he stated. “I only have 2 arms!”
Ranboo could hear Tommy rolling his eyes over the earpiece.
“Incredibly long arms at that,” he replied snarkily. “Whatever, just be quick! I can’t wait much longer!”
“Okay, okay!” Ranboo grumbled. “I’ve got all the rolls now, I’ll be there soon.”
Ranboo ran back towards Wilbur’s room, barging in, and throwing the toilet paper at them. One of the rolls hit Tubbo in the back of his head, but he didn’t seem to care, only picking the roll up and turning to face the two.
“So we ready boys?” Tubbo smirked as he spoke.
Tommy nodded, excited. Both Tubbo and Tommy turned around, looking at Ranboo expectantly. Ranboo turned his head back and forth between the two, before simply turning around and walking out. As he left, he slammed the door shut. Now, one might scold him for being a bad friend and leaving them, but Ranboo decided that being a bad friend was better than dying at age eight. So, he left the room, headed towards the kitchen, grabbed some leftover spaghetti, and sat down to watch some dumb cartoon. Ahhh, this was life.
(this is a dialogue assignment i wrote in class. i switched some of the words around, and boom! bench trio. the prompt i was given was: 'that's a fun idea! but here's another idea! how about, we don't do that!)

They really went there huh
/rp (good lord I rly hyperfixated on this essay huh)
torture tw, abuse tw, manipulation tw, gaslighting tw
So the Dream SMP built a character, once maybe morally gray, who slipped straight into villany with little to no desire to change, and willing to cause a LOT of pain to get his way. Despite this, he doesn’t question what he does enough to stop, justifying his actions with a good intent that doesn’t come close to justifying what he’s done.
C!Dream is unremorseful of what he’s done, he’s quite literally manipulated and gaslit (like actually, not in the way everyone keeps throwing the word around) c!Tommy, almost drove him to take his last life- like, jesus christ. That’s not even to mention blowing up L’Manburg three times, encouraging c!Wilbur, wanting the discs JUST to have power over c!Tommy, etc.
SO, he gets thrown in a box for it so he doesn’t hurt anybody anymore, making his own hubris his downfall (narrative consequence my beloved). This leads us to a good finale - the bad guy, the person who’s caused objectively the most pain and destruction, is now unable to do so anymore, taken down by the person whom he tried to weaken. It is also revealed he was planning on blackmailing and threatening pretty much everyone, but now everyone gets their stuff back.
Good, right?
Especially for the finale, yeah! The message of the finale is good, c!Tommy manages to escape his abuser with nothing more but his clothes on his back and fights his way back to c!Tubbo and his home.
He doesn’t let his trauma (which is still very present!) let him become a terrible person (arguably the way that c!Dream DID let his frustrations make him a terrible person, c!Tommy, despite bearing quite a heavy weight, recognizes when he begins to turn that way and actively works against it).
It shows that while alone, c!Tubbo and c!Tommy were outfought by Dream, but because c!Tommy went the length to ask for help (which he didn’t even really seem to be relying on actually showing up), he wins! It truly is a good message.
C!Tommy escapes his abuser and manipulator, refuses and fights his trauma to not become someone he doesn’t want to be, and defeats his abuser by asking for help and receiving it, even more than he thought he’d get. He refuses to play c!Dream’s “game”, refuses till the very last moment to let c!Tubbo die, to surrender and say goodbye to him.
So, great! Good finale! C!Dream The Villain is boxed like a fish in a prison of, quite literally, his own making. It sent a good message to people. C!Tommy wasn’t expected to forgive him and did, in fact, axe him down twice, causing c!Dream to finally fall from his high horse.
Most media would stop at this point, say the villain is now defeated and never show them again, or have them come back another one or two seasons later, escaped and seemingly unharmed and worse than ever.
Alternatively, there’s a throwaway line, (or, in good media, a genuine, reasonable backstory, complete with remorse and bad role models and complicated situations), that allows the villain to be redeemed.
In GOOD redemption arcs (See: Zuko from avatar tbh), the villain was already never quite as heartless, or stressed their good intent, or felt remorse for what they felt they “had to do”. Then, ideally, the villain takes a looooong time adjusting their habits, regretting their actions and changing until they’re considered redeemed.
Not on the Dream SMP, though.
They don’t stop at c!Dream’s defeat.
He doesn’t dissapear off-screen and is never spoken of again. His life continues on, everyone’s does, just like it would in reality. He doesn’t magically want to become a better person, far from it. So no redemption. But he doesn’t dissapear, either.
They go on to, slowly, stress how awful the conditions in Pandora’s Vault are. c!Bad says c!Dream should be imprisoned, but at least at slightly better conditions. We’re in very VERY morally gray territorry here. Nobody says c!Dream is a good person, of course not, but even c!Bad - who knows Dream was planning on keeping c!Skeppy in a cage to control him with - goes, “yeah, he should stay boxed, but does he really need to like... suffer suffer?”
Still, c!Dream seems to be kindof inconsistent in his behavior. Is he faking his pain? Is he not? His actions don’t fully make sense for either take. He acts differently to each person, but at the same time some things he does don’t make sense if he were just fishing for pity.
Then c!Sam admits to trying (and thinking he succeeded) to “break Dream’s will”, to quite literally starving him for weeks.
Okay, so now we’re a step further. C!Dream is now suffering even more, although already boxed and unable to hurt anyone. Pandora’s Vault is one thing, but now c!Sam just seems to be out for revenge and nothing more. Instead of spending his time with c!Tommy, he spends his time pickaxing(?) c!Dream.
C!Sam isn’t an angel, and we should all know that by now. He does what he thinks is right, but he’s deeper than that, all characters on the DSMP are.
He cares deeply for the Badlands, and would always choose them above anybody else. He’s a capitalist. He built the prison because it would benefit the Badlands resource-wise, despite knowing Dream would probably use it on his enemies, and it was no secret that ALL members of L’Manburg, especially c!Tommy, are his enemies. C!Sam, undoubtedly, knew that. He still built it.
Arguably, he didn’t know about c!Dream’s attachment obsession at the time, but the point still stands.
People have already latched onto the untold story happening between c!Dream and c!Sam, and frankly, we barely know enough about it. Does c!Sam torture him regularly? Do they talk? Does c!Dream try to verbally fight back? CAN he fight back? We don’t know! We’ve gotten proof for both, between c!Sam saying that c!Dream is terrifying even in prison and c!Dream going silent to go on strike. We don’t have enough of an idea how bad or how good it truly is.
So the people who prefer to humanize c!Dream and explore morality imagine c!Sam to downright torture him, people that prefer to see c!Dream as nothing but evil due to his actions imagine prison on the DSMP to not be equivalent to real life prison, and thus nowhere near as torturous as people are making it out to be.
Now all that is thrown out the window as c!Quackity quite literally tortures him.
So now the internet is faced with a question that, judging by some of the impulsive reactions *cough cough* celebrating torture *cough*, it didn’t turn out to be ready for.
Tell me.
How far do we go?
C!Dream hurt a LOT of people. He did a lot of things that caused irreparable damage. Now what? Do we torture him forever? Why? Because he deserves it? How do we determine that without comparing one kind of pain to another?
It’s custom and kindof generally respectful not to compare people’s pain too accurately, because different things vary greatly in severity depending on the person that experiences them.
At what point do we say he’s suffered enough without comparing exile to the prison?
And if we DO compare, does that even make the question easier to answer?
And if he’s never suffered enough ever, killing them would be a mercy...
At what point has a person done enough damage that they “deserve” to die? What if someone only did half of the things c!Dream did. But if c!Dream gets infinite punishment, and half of infinity is still infinity, do they ALSO deserve endless suffering?
Do you think every person that did something you can’t emphasize with deserves to suffer for eternity and die?
I’m not saying we SHOULD emphasize with c!Dream. He did things we cannot justify, that NOTHING can justify. He did things that were, by their nature, unjustified.
I’m also not saying anybody should forgive him. I think it’s a GOOD thing that c!Tommy doesn’t want nor is narratively pushed to forgive c!Dream.
But c!Dream doesn’t need c!Tommy’s forgiveness to be... a person.
There’s a saying that I’m sure you know, that goes “I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.”, because there’s things you wouldn’t want any human being to experience. Not because you like them, not cause you think they’re right, but because they’re human.
And perhaps this is my personal opinion, but I don’t think c!Dream being a bad person justifies dehumanizing him, because then we get into an area where someone needs to meet criteria just to be human.
-
I met someone once, whom, because of outside circumstances I knew I probably wouldn’t meet again. We’d been getting along just fine for people who just met, and were both getting into an interesting discussion about morality. They kept insisting upon something I kept refuting, so they said they needed to get something off their chest.
They proceeded to tell me that they had, years ago, while a teen, manipulated someone in a relationship, pushed boundaries and tried to convince them to do things they didn’t really want to do to get what they wanted.
They cried, while telling me, too terrified to tell anybody they know, terrified nobody would ever speak to them again, insanely regretful of their actions. They didn’t know whether to go back and apologize or just stay as far away as humanly possible, didn’t know which one the right thing to do is.
It had been years, by then, and I talked them through it. I said that what they did was bad, and there’s no going around that. But I also said what I saw, which is someone who would never do something like that ever again. I saw a human being. Someone who regrets a mistake they did and now, after enough time has passed, would do anything to make it undone.
Someone who is too terrified to be close to anybody in fear that they would do it again. I don’t remember if they already went to therapy or not, but it was definitly on the table, or in the near future.
They asked me how I could possibly even keep talking to them after they told me all that. They implied they felt like some kind of monster despite literally chocking back tears, firmly convinced they don’t deserve to be close to anybody in their life ever again.
I never swerved from the fact that what they did was wrong, and harmful. But I also told them they’re human. The universe isn’t keeping score. They want to be a better person now, and they were never going to learn how if they never let themselves be close to anybody.
I told them to seek therapy, and to slowly, carefully, try. Assured them that the fact that they regret it so strongly will at least help them in not falling back into the same pattern, and if they do, they can learn to recognize that.
They thanked me after the conversation, genuinely, especially for the fact that I didn’t sugarcoat what happened, because I know otherwise it would’ve felt like I was lying, like I was just sparing their feelings. I wasn’t. I was thinking about how to make sure they get to live without hurting anybody.
As per the circumstances, we didn’t speak again after that, which we knew basicly from the very start.
-
I still think about that conversation a lot.
Do you think they should’ve been locked up for life after it happened, instead?
Do you think this real human being, that I spoke to, that took years to realize their mistake - and never would have realized it if they hadn’t had the time to, if they’d been killed right afterwards - deserves to suffer forever?
Let me tell you something, from someone who’s been in more than one abusive situation: People that hurt you are human.
That doesn’t mean you have to forgive them. That doesn’t mean you have to like them. That doesn’t mean you have to make an effort to understand them. That doesn’t mean you need to go anywhere near them ever again.
You can hate them. You can be angry at them. You can (and should) go as far away from them as possible, and/or defend yourself.
But that doesn’t mean you have to dehumanize them.
You’re allowed to hate and dislike people that are human, because you’re human, especially if they hurt you. That’s how life is.
And to go back to my original point - c!Quackity torturing c!Dream is not something that should be celebrated.
There’s a difference between necessary measures (locking c!Dream up so he doesn’t hurt anyone), and torturing people for fun.
It’s not right. It’s never going to be right, and do not justify literal torture on human beings, and do not make someone lower-than-human to justify torturing them.
Taking revenge on someone for what they did tenfold is romanticized, I know, but I promise you it’s not actually as cool as it sounds.

Hi! Welcome to our new segment called "The SMP has morally gray storyline so stop treating it like everything is black or white: Rant Edition"
The reason why Tubbo was compared to Schlatt in the first place was because he didn't inform his cabinet of his decision of exiling Tommy. This is a valid reason for his cabinet to be upset but unfortunately, they took the situation as an opportunity to manipulate Tubbo to do their bidding.
Knowing the full story, Tommy had no right to call Tubbo "a monster" but looking at purely Tommy's perspective, he was pretty valid in saying so (allegedly kicking Wilbur out of NLM, putting Phil in house arrest, planning to execute Techno, and of course, his entire exile). Same goes to the times Tubbo called Tommy "selfish and a liability." Both are unfair portrayals of each character's actions but are completely understandable since their relationship has been tainted by miscommunication and "hear-says" from biased/unrealiable sources.
During the El Rapids storyline, Dream had the right to call Quackity a terrorist although we know it wasn't purely because of the fake strike and the siege of the throne but as a political tactic for his own benefit. However, Karl also had the right to call Dream a tyrant because why else would you get yourself involved in an affair of two nations of which you aren't even a part of and go as far as to speak over the king and use your godly powers as a threat. Like :D
Tommy, Tubbo, and Ranboo are the only ones who actually care about maintaning peace and justice in the server. I could not stress this enough: "The fate of the entire server rests on their hands." Quackity? On a power high. Fundy and Niki? Running away from their problems and building a new country to sastify their own desires. Phil? Protecting Techno is his #1 priority, anything else nada. Techno? On a revenge arc and owes a favor to a person who goes against the very core of his anarchic (?) ideals. These three are the only ones willing to call out bullshit eveb if it means a loss in power or comfort but, currently, they're all facing difficulties to do so. Tommy is literally overloaded with trauma and is questioning the world as he knows it. Tubbo is being manipulated by Dream and his cabinet. Ranboo has memory issues, is easily peer-pressured and is isn't really taken seriously by the wide majority. The SMP is fucked if they don't pull their shit together.
Tommy has the right to say that nobody cared about him during his exile because he has said multiple times in passing how depressed and tired he has been since living in Logstedshire. He even has mentioned Dream's manipulative tendencies multiple tomes. But even after all that, Ranboo was the only to actually recognize and do something about it (Sapnap as well but he's too pre-occupied with El Rapids). Not even his own father did.
Canonically, Phil is a terrible father and grandfather. He calls out bullshit but never makes an effort to fix them. Old man disowned his furry grandson for wanting to kill Techno but doesn't explain to him Techno's reasoning with the war crimes in the first place. Old man also did nothing to save Tommy from exile even after witnessing the shit his son is going through. (I know its not in the script and I respect that but we gotta call out bs. Hope they give Phil redemption other than being a good pal to only Techno :D)
Both Pogtopia and Techno are at fault for the government clash incident. Pogtopia has expressed multiple times of how they want to reclaim L'manberg. It was Techno's mistake to not infer that it included the government especially since the heads of the operation were the ex-president and vice president of the nation. Additionally, Techno kept saying stuff like "We'll burn the bridge when we get there," whenever he gets asked on his opinion about the revolution. And that is called miscommunication at its finest. However, this does not discredit the fact that Pogtopia did use Techno as a literal weapon without further inspecting his stance whatsoever.
On the topic of Pogtopia and Techno, in the moment where its revealed that Techno is going to betray Tommy, don't say its karma. They were both used as weapons during that era, Tommy far beyond that. He wasn't even the one to institute the government when they won, it was Wilbur. Think of it as Tommy as the handle and Techno was the blade. It fits perfectly to their dynamic during that era. Also, don't try to reason out manipulation wth.
Last point, to the people who were disappointed that Tommy never got to "learn his lesson" after he escaped from Dream, do not become parents. Just don't. You really expect a literal teenager who just escaped from an abusive relationship to think about that? Bitch, Tommy never had time to even think about his trauma and you expect him to be like "ye, i was irresponsible," in a snap? If anything, the exile just showed him that he and his discs are being used a political leverage (he even said that he's the only one Dream is scared of) so of course, Tommy is going to try to take his discs back as a way to end the bullshit he and everyone he holds dear has gone through. We don't even know if he's going to put it in an e-chest or burn it (probably the latter). Guys. Please. The child literally went through hell and back. Give him therapy before lecturing him about being "selfish." (Again, you have no right to call him that in the first place.)
Appreaciate the storyline for what it is and stop trying to fight each other over who was right and who's in the wrong like please. The only redeemable (by redeemable i mean saints amongst men y'know maybe should not have used that word to begin with but ahhhhhh) characters here is Ranboo (Edit: Also Niki haha woops, thank you for reminding me) if I'm completely honest. (I am going against everything I stand for to not include Tommy and Tubno in that sentence but I said what I said.)

Different relationships on the Dream SMP but they’re Glass Animals songs.
No, I haven’t read Heatwaves, no I’m not doing this because of Heat Waves, this is just for fun because I love the band and their music and some of their songs actually fit character relationships in the Dream SMP really well.
Reminder! This is based on their characters in the SMP, not the actual ccs themselves. It would be weird if it wasn’t and quite frankly the songs wouldn’t fit if that were the case.
Relationship: Sam & Ponk
Song: Pork Soda
What It’s About: A loving relationship between two lovers who slowly started to fall out of love, leading one of them to want what the relationship used to be.
Why It Fits: I mean, the song meaning is pretty much what’s going on with the two right now. They had a nice, loving dynamic that quickly turned to the worse thanks to the Egg and the Prison corrupting the both of them. The narrator, obviously, would be Ponk, who got the short end of the stick when it came to the complications of the relationship. And I just think it would be funny to have ‘lemon’ instead of ‘pineapple.’
Some Lyrics:
You took my hand and you made me run, up past the prison to the seafront
Why can’t we laugh now like we did then? How come I see you and ache instead?
Maybe you’re fucking scum, don’t you go psycho chum
I want you for the world, I want you all the time (stop)
I won’t forget how you looked at me then
Relationship: DreamXD & George
Song: Holiest
What It’s About: A relationship between two lovers, one who is annoyed with the other’s antics, who is preoccupied in their dreams, goals, and ideals, comparing them to a child.
Why It Fits: I really only chose this song for the two because DreamXD is kind of a god on the SMP, so I went, “Okay god, they’ve got a song called ‘Holiest’, that fits.” But I also think it fits in the way that DreamXD basically simps for George and in the song one of the individuals seems to beg the other that they can be different. I think it would be a sort of, “You’re not him,” kind of thing, basically.
Some Lyrics:
Be a part of the scene like you're living your dream, Walk the room like you're on fire, Like your chasing the truth, gripping tight to your youth
Babe, I'm not what you think, Come on, listen to me
Now all I do is feel afraid
Can't you see that I'm here, Can't you see I've been played
But you're the holiest thing I know, Yes, you're the holiest thing, holiest thing I know
Relationship: Schlatt & Quackity
Song: Cacao Hooves
What It’s About: Possibly about the internal conflict of someone who has done a lot of bad things in the past (though not confirmed).
Why It Fits: Even if the song is mainly for one’s internal conflicts, I felt like it fit Schlatt and Quackity’s external ones with each other. For one, the character in the song is an ‘old goat’, perfect for Schlatt, then there’s a comment about setting wings on fire, perfect for Quackity. The internal conflict in the song would be the two going back and forth with the White House, especially since there’s a line about not fighting back/using bows and arrows. I just thought it was perfect.
Some Lyrics:
This old goat with beard of grey, He turns his leather gripped cane
You never fight back, Why don’t you play with bows and arrows?
Why don’t you play nice? Why don’t you toy with sex and violence?
Why don’t you set your wings on fire?
Relationship: Dream & Fundy
Song: Flip
What It’s About: The narrator is making plans on getting revenge on someone who had wronged/harmed them in the past.
Why It Fits: While most of the lyrics don’t really fit, and Fundy hasn’t made a move to get back at Dream for what happened at the Wedding, the idea behind the song, I felt fit the two. If given the chance, I’m sure that Fundy would’ve gotten revenge on Dream, seeing as he did so with L’Manburg during Doomsday. It would be from Fundy’s perspective and it puts a new spin on the idea of a Fox Hunt.
Some Lyrics:
I wanna take to my guns and break you, I gotta make my little foe take his own
I’m gonna go back, I’m gonna go back, I’m gonna go back to a face no more mask
I was in full bloom until I met you, I’m gonna shake my fetters, I’m breaking loose
Relationship: Quackity, Karl, & Sapnap
Song: Tangerine
What It’s About: The narrator sings about some that they’ve know who’s taken a turn for the worse, changing due to different events, but the narrator still has the hope that things could be the same.
Why It Fits: This song fits so well, lyric and beat wise. It’s so preppy and fun like them, despite the lyrics being so down. For this, it would be Karl and Sapnap’s take on Quackity’s spiral with torturing Dream and setting up Las Nevadas. They’re wondering what happened to him and still have hope that maybe they could get him back, basically.
Some Lyrics:
I can't keep on making you happy 'cause you got issues with your daddy
But I wish I could show you more of yourself, I wish I could make you somebody else. But I left it way too late. Are you stuck in your own ways?
You let the devil in, and all you talk is money, money, money, money, money, It's so funny how it changes how you feel
Where are you? What happened? I want what we had. Where you gone? Where you hidin'?
Hands, knees, please, tangerine, come on back to me. Got what I need, tangerine, do this for me
Relationship: Puffy & Niki
Song: Agnes
What It’s About: The narrator is trying to pull out another from an addiction, which has steadily ruined their relationship a bit.
Why It Fits: This one is just a bit of a stretch, but it works. It would be from Puffy’s POV as she’s trying to get Niki back to the way she once was, before Doomsday, before finding out about Wilbur, and before being obsessed with killing Tommy. In the song, the person being sung about has an addiction, so I figured that could be replaced with her want to kill Tommy. So it’s Puffy trying to bring her back, but at the same time, Puffy is unsure about what she’s doing.
Some Lyrics:
Calm down now, stop and breathe a second? Go back to the very beginning. Can't you see what was different then?
To be reborn, I want to hold you like you're mine
You see the sad in everything. A genius of love and loneliness
Where went that cheeky friend of mine? Where went that billion-dollar smile?
You're gone but you're on my mind. I'm lost but I don't know why
Relationship: Bad & Skeppy
Song: JDNT
What It’s About: Though not confirmed, the song could be about a narrator who is putting on a brave face, but is ready to crack under the stress at any minute.
Why It Fits: This one is also a stretch, it was kind of hard to find a song that fit the two. However, with the Egg, I think that this song works well for them. Though I couldn’t find a solid meaning behind the lyrics, I figured that if we took their arc with the Egg, it would work. I think the song would be from both of their POVs, with the story idea behind Skeppy being stuck in the Egg and Bad giving himself to the Egg in return of getting his friend back.
Some Lyrics:
I've got my old helmet on, Keeping out an eye, Puffing all my feathers up
Please, it's not okay. Oh, can't you feel your dirty face? Oh, don't it leave that filthy taste?
Where my funny friends gone? You're in paradise. Who gon' plant the flowers, huh?
I shut my wild eyes, and crumble to a pile of dust and fertilise
Relationship: Quackity & Glatt
Song: Your Love (Deju vu)
What It’s About: Being caught up in a relationship you know is toxic, but somehow you can’t seem to cut that person out of your life.
Why It Fits: I think the meaning of the song fits them pretty well as we all know that relationship was toxic as hell. But in this sense, it’s Glatt, so even more so, Quackity’s still coming back to him even when Schlatt is dead and now a ghost. Though their relationship during Schlatt’s time alive was terrible, Quackity still went to Schlatt and decided to work with him. Also, it’s got a line about eating and I just thought it would fit in the whole ‘heart eating’ sense.
Some Lyrics:
And I'm backsliding into this just one more time
You go back there when you're done, Don't you want some more?
Maybe in time, When we're both better at life, daylight can open my eyes, and you'll still be by my side
Night by night, I let you eat me alive, I want you to eat me alive
Relationship: Dream & George
Song: Heatwa - [gunshot]
Nah, jk, here’s their song.
Relationship: Dream & George
Song: The Other Side of Paradise
What It’s About: Though I’m not entirely sure, but I think that the song focuses around a relationship that slowly deteriorated due to one of the individuals moving on for a more grander, luxurious life.
Why It Fits: Dream would be the individual in the relationship who went to go chase after a fancy life, thus ruining the relationship. The "fancy life" in this case would be the power and control he sought over members of the server, which ultimately got him locked up. So I think it would be in George's POV, but that's basically why I thought the song would fit the two.
Some Lyrics:
He told me, "Please, don't worry", wise little smile that spoke so safely
Caught up in a rush, it's killing you
I miss him, don't you blame me? That boy went stone cold crazy, Caught up in camera lust, He's chasing that pappy pipe dream
I know you don't but I-I know you don't but I still try
Curled up in a grip when we were us, fingers in a fist like you might run, I settle for a ghost I never knew, super paradise I held on to, but I settle for a ghost
I know I should probably post my thoughts on Quackity's stream, but I started this a few days ago and only finished it today, so take it now.

Hello! I know that you're mostly, if not entirely, a Wilbur account, but I was wondering about your thoughts on Techno and his situation.
Alright, I’ll indulge just this once, but fair warning, I’m very Techno-critical. I am under the mindset that Technoblade is a hypocrite.
He claimed that he was betrayed by Pogtopia on November 16th, and that he is justified because he made his intentions clear. I counter this: Technoblade knew he was helping the rebellion re-claim L’Manberg. Tommy was always very very clear that he wanted to retake Presidency and re-establish the government. Technoblade knew this. (Also, just because you tell someone you plan on stabbing them, that doesn’t make it okay.)
His claim is that Pogtopia knew he didn’t want a government, and didn’t care about his ideology. This is false. Techno is the one who willingly assisted them, and even if I am wrong and he didn’t know - well, that just means he willingly assisted them without being aware of their goals, so more fool him. Techno attacked his own side when he realised they would not drop their beliefs and take up his ideology.
He went into retirement afterwards. The common claim is that he had removed himself from L’Manberg, and so didn’t need to be punished. To be honest, while the Butcher Army were blood-stained and witch-hunting, I hold the belief that they were right to hold Technoblade accountable. He was guilty of genocide on two occasions, and assisted terrorism. That is a crime worthy of punishment, and a country should be allowed to punish people who actively harm it.
He has the classic line - “I’m a person!” - in response to Tommy being upset at him. Techno acts as if Tommy used him - I don’t fully agree with that. He was on the run from his abuser, and he left when he realised Techno intended to kill his best friend and destroy his home. He left when he realised he was becoming a terrorist, a terrible person. And, during that Doomsday encounter, while Tommy acknowledged that Technoblade was human, Techno never returned the favour.
Techno consistently claims to be against people with absolute power, and powerhouses, and yet he is the most powerful free person on the server. He consistently claims to be against tyranny - but is forcing your ideology on others through mass violence not tyranny? He experiences no consequences - the butcher attempt did not work, and he escaped with a victory, and he has never seen any other punishment - and yet he frequently claims to be a victim.
I am less sympathetic to his enactment of Doomsday, because Techno never cared about L’Manberg. Wilbur blew it up out of a warped sense of affection that only a founder can have for it, hopeless under the belief that it had been lost for good. Technoblade claims he did it for the greater good, but I perceive his detonation as nothing more than revenge.
Also, he’s just wrong. Violence is not the only universal language that works.

Lets talk about the latest C!Crimeboys stream for a second because i have seen people saying how great that stream was because it was C!Tommys apology.
I really hope it was not his apology because honestly it would be a terrible one. C!Tommy had to watch as his friend, his brother threaten to kill himself and not know if he was bluffing. He had to watch as someone he considers a brother give his most prized possession away to his god dam abuser. He had to watch it burn and believed that C!Wilbur just did that to him after promising him C!Dream wouldn’t get them. C!Tommys whole speech to C!Wilbur after the prison really shows his anger and grief for the whole situation.
I do understand where C!Wilbur was trying to go for here by not telling C!Tommy though, because C!Dream is smart and knows when C!Tommy is lying. If he in any way gave any sign that it was a ruse, C!Dream would notice. However, that doesn't change the fact that C!Wlbur’s whole plan was basically counting on the fact that C!Tommy would react the way he did which, while good for C!Wilbur’s plan, is HORRIBLE for C!Tommy. His whole plan was basically counting on his emotional distress, which is TERRIBLE.
I don’t hate C!Wilbur, I believe he is great, but at these moments he really did fuck up and if this is his apology he better say another to C!Tommy as he just did more harm to C!Tommy than good. Watching that whole thing couldn’t have been a good thing for C!Tommy at all. Especially since C!Tommy just opened up to C!Wilbur about exile and his trauma there.
Don’t get me wrong, I do love that it is showing that C!Wilbur cares for C!Tommy, but the way he went about it and showing it to C!Tommy was destructive. It was harmful to C!Tommy and it wasn’t the best thing. C!Wilbur acted on violence and trying to get revenge for C!Tommy rather than consoling him in those moments. He should have considered C!Tommys feelings about this whole situation first before acting on his anger for it. I understand that he was trying to show he cares, but it was not at all the best way to go about it.

Guys. Guys. I love to theorize. Heck, I theorize every day! I have theories about everything that could happen from now on, each one different from the other, and I like to read yours too. But. But. Can we avoid shouting at the "canon" immediately, for at least now? We know practically NOTHING about what happened in the afterlife and about what will happen next. We know Tommy was stuck in the afterlife with Wilbur, Shlatt and Mexican Dream. We know they were waiting for "something". We heard what Wilbur told Tommy and how Tommy reacted. We know Wilbur thinks his and Tommy's death were a good thing for the server and that he didn't want to come back to life. We know from Tommy that the afterlife experience lasted months instead of days for him. We know that he has realized that Wilbur is no longer who he was, that he would rather be friends with Dream than bring him back to life, and that Wilbur has terrible plans for his return to life. We know that Dream wants to use Wilbur to escape and that Tommy was initially willing to kill Dream to stop it all. That's it. That's all we know. We do not know, canonically, anything else.
We don't know Wilbur's plans. We don't know if they are real, a way to take revenge on the server, some project to "improve" it that exactly like L'Manberg would be just total destruction, or if he just tried to scare Tommy into not being brought back to life. We don't know which Wilbur would be coming back to life. If he would kill himself again, or if he decided to follow through on his plans, or if he decided to do something else entirely. We don't know if he would free Dream or not. We do not know if after freeing him he would follow him in his plans or he would be the one to exploit Dream for his own. We don't know what Ghostbur could do in all of this. Where did he go. If somehow, the Wilbur who comes back to life will get the memories of Ghostbur back or not. We don't know if Wilbur will return as an irredeemable character or if he can still be saved from himself. We know NOTHING. We know. Literally. Nothing.
So stop yelling “canon”, that Wilbur will destroy the server, or that in the afterlife he repeatedly abused Tommy (when it looks like, for now, that Tommy was traumatized by his plans more than anything else) or whatever.
The only thing we know is that a person with already incredibly low mental health has been stuck in torture for years and that he canonically wanted to stay in that torture (holy shit Wilbur what the fuck!?!?), and that he told Tommy both that their death was a good thing for the server (which indicates awareness, albeit biased in including Tommy, of his past as a villain), and apparently "terrible" plans for when he would return (which would be in dispute with the aforementioned awareness) that have traumatized Tommy. We still don't know everything else. So guess what you want. Theorize. I'm going to go tweak my fix-it fic using the information from the stream, damn it, I'll theorize too! But don't attack others because they think Wilbur may still have an arc redemption or because they think he will return as a terrible villain or because of their theories because none of them can be true at the moment. Thank you.

I have a terrible feeling about Tommy's plans. I'm sure a lot of you do as well. He's starting to sound like a few people who enjoy destroying things a little too much if you know what I mean. He needs help. Tommy deserves to get the help that Wilbur never got before it's too late. I don't want to see his story end like that, so consumed with his need for revenge that he loses himself along the way. He deserves to get better.

I can literally never stop thinking about c!Quackity. He is so contradictory. What Is His Deal?
He agrees with Ranboo on the idea that no man needs all the power that Dream has, so one would assume that he's against the accumulation of power, but the very next day he goes up to Sam and says to them "we should control the economy so that we can control the entire server". What is the truth?? Is he just a hypocrite or does he not actually believe in what he preaches? Are his opinions just a front to hide his own power hunger?
He keeps getting close to figures of authority and desperately trying to help them maintain their power
He becomes Schlatt's vice, and although he tries to disagree with some of his decisions here and there (like tearing down the walls), he supports him and ensures people respect him.
He only turns against him when Schlatt decides to destroy the Whitehouse despite knowing how much the building meant to Quackity and how much effort he put into it. It seems like at this point Quackity finally realizes that his opinion doesn't matter to Schlatt and his position as vice president doesn't give him any actual power.
He gets close to George while he's king and protests when he gets dethroned, immediately taking a dislike to Eret despite her not being at all responsible for it.
He gets close to Tubbo, and starts taking his political title way more seriously than in other occasions, which is interesting. As Dream pointed out, Tubbo is very easily influenciable and will agree with whatever makes people happy, and so all of Quackity's wishes were carried out during his administration. This is probably why he is so keen on executions.
He finally is in a position where his word is law and he cares a whole lot about retaining that authority. When Tubbo refuses to execute Ranboo for treason, Quackity explains that if they don't punish those who defy them then people will stop taking them seriously and they will lose power which is an uh. Interesting argument for the death penalty to say the least.
The insistence on executing Techno even after he abandoned his violent ways shows that Quackity cares more about revenge and his public image than about reforming the people who are threats to their nation.
Same thing with Dream, who got two of his canon lives taken away from him by Tommy and got locked up alone in an inescapable prison, yet Quackity still wants him gone for good (despite him having valuable information about necromancy that would be lost with his death).
It's honestly never quite clear wether Quackity genuinely cares about his country and it's people or if he just cares about the leadership positions that it offers him.
He just seems to have an incredibly childish view of power. He acts like he's just ✨built different✨ and if HE had all the power HE would make all the right decisions and everyone would be happy. Which is just. Not how anything works.
He really THINKS he's doing a good thing. He THINKS he'll be able to achieve peace and joy for everyone. But that's just unrealistic and utopian, and in the process of seeking this ideal future he's doing so many terrible things (don't even get me started on whatever the fuck the plan for El Rapids' independence was. My man didn't even TRY to do it peacefully he woke up and said lovely day for a terrorism innit?) Wilbur was right, he absolutely is a neutral good character.
I just find his character very very interesting. He rlly said giving me all the power is different from giving it to Will or Schlatt or Dream because I'm very cool and a good guy❤️
(Damn man take a shot everytime I use the word power sgfjjsahkfjd)

Sleepy Bois Inc and DSMP Fanfic Recs
Uhhh I realized I have a ton of stuff in my bookmarks list and might as well compile a list of favorites because I’m always looking for good fanfics, and this might help some people. Most of these are SBI, though a few focus on things other than their dynamic with each other. Nothing explicit here. Feel free to suggest more recs.
Fics set in DSMP universe/about DSMP (One-shots first, then longer fics):
One-shots and series of one-shots-
therein lies the madness by sapphicist - 2095 words. Currently says it’s one chapter out of three complete, but can be read as a standalone one-shot. Nice introspective fic on Tommy’s exile and his parallels with Theseus. In 2nd person, but it’s actually done nicely. Mostly angsty, can have hopeful interpretation depending on how you look at it.
crazy how life goes on without me (2090 words, one-shot) by itisjosh - What if Ghostbur did remember everything, and just pretended to be clueless and vapid? Made me cry. It’s so good. Tortured my heart.
the inner mechanism of a black box (13521 words, one-shot) by Bee_4 - only work of a series called “system theory”. “Technoblade lets himself get imprisoned for Philza’s sake. He doesn’t plan on being there long. Unfortunately, he’s underestimated Pandora’s Vault. There are things that will make even the Blade fall apart in due time, as it turns out.” Yeah so Techno’s mental health goes out the window in this one and its written brilliantly. There’s comfort at the end, if it helps?
A State For One Man Is No State At All (5247 words, two-shot) by angstfortheangstgod - “A different version of the festival, in which Dream shows up unarmed, the Community House is left intact, a traitor is executed, and Tommy doesn't betray Technoblade.” Ranboo centric. Angst and comfort.
All the Kings Men series by MollyPollyKinz - “After Ghostbur's suggestion to do Lads on Tour, Tommy finds himself reunited with his family. However, escaping from Dream is going to be harder than anyone previously thought.” A connected series of one-shots and short fics about Tommy, his exile, his family, and escaping Dream. Well written, good characterization, great studies into the characters themselves.
ad astra per aspera series by cacowhistle - Collection of one-shots that start with Tommy’s exile and expand to be about SBI and their dynamic with each other, including a resurrected Wilbur. Really, really well written and probably my favorite of the “Tommy exile fic groups”.
the fall of a hero series by cracklesnaple - “After being threatened with being exiled yet again, Tommy takes the decision into his own hands. If those around him can't see that he's given up everything to make this nation what it is, then he's not sure he can stay in L'Manburg any longer.” Series about SBI and mainly Tommy, eventually crossing over into Mianite territory in a way some might enjoy and some might now. Writing’s good, though, which is what I care about.
Longer fics-
Rewind (101002 words, 25 chapters, unfinished, last updated Jan 17 2021) by Anonymous - Best time travel fix-it fic I’ve ever read period. Tubbo and Tommy travel 10 years back from a very messed up future to the first L’Manberg election. Concept may seen a bit weird at first but trust me, holy fuck this is amazing.
second chances (hurt the most) (8841 words, 4 chapters, unfinished, last updated Jan 17 2021) by Anonymous - “Wilbur wakes up alone in a bloody room, and has to come to terms with living again. (How can he go on, knowing who's blood is on his hands?)”. Amazing fic where resurrection requires someone else’s life as sacrifice. Phil is dead. Wilbur struggles to come to terms with his father’s decision, and his second chance.
all scotch, no soda (47466 words, 43 chapters, unfinished, last updated Jan 14 2021) by fishstixx - “Vulnerability meant trust, though, and trust was a thing not so easily given. Post-exile and canon divergent, follows the consequences of Tommy’s isolation. Expect chases, heists, bloodshed, and the mending of a family.” Features raccon hybrid Tommy being badass, and I live for it. I really, really love this one.
DON’T FORGET THAT ICARUS FLEW. (16426 words, 6/10 chapters, last updated Jan 1. 2021) by orpheusaki - “The day before and the days that follow Tommy's exile; told through the eyes of The Blood God.” Techno (and Dream) is a god, and gods often forget how the intricacies of the minds of mortals. He’s trying to get better, however.
what do you fall for? (16374 words, complete) by tablrcloth - Ranboo centric fic with Techno, Phil and Tommy. Ranboo realizes that playing L’Manberg’s politics is less than ideal for him. What can I say, it’s just really good.
Breathing’s Just a Rhythm (12631 words, 6 chapters, unfinished, last updated Jan 17 2021) by MollyPollyKinz - “Tommy, Tubbo, Jschlatt, and Dream all end up in the past. (Oh, and the Chat comes too).” Great time travel fic.
What World Have We Inherited? (73635 words, 12 chapters, unfinished and last updated on Dec 22 2020) by Anonymous (this one has a series with all their works, and they’re all AMAZING). Holy fuck this one is probably one of my favorite fics in the fandom so far. “Wilbur blows everything to hell on the day of the Manburg festival, just like he wanted. When the ashes settle, it's just Tommy and Technoblade. It's not good, but it's better than nothing. It's just them, healing up in a world that never wanted them.” Amazing characterization, worldbuilding, everyone’s internal thoughts are portrayed and written so well. Even if it never updates again I would keep coming back to it. I rec this Anon’s works so much.
In June, I Changed My Tune (29489 words, 6 chapters, unfinished and last updated on Jan 6 2021) by KryOnBlock - Eret runs away and eventually becomes friends with Techno. Nice cottagecore aesthetic. I have mixed feelings about this one - the writing’s good, descriptions and characterizations are really good. Just that there’s consistent punctuation mistakes and it takes me out of the world a bit. Everything else is good enough for me to continue reading, however.
stay with him (24353 words, 12 chapters, unfinished, last updated Jan 9 2021) by junipersand - I especially rec the first chapter, which can be read (and originally was) a standalone fic with the summary “Every ghost had a purpose to fulfill. So what was Tommy’s?” Utterly heartwrenching, probably the most emotionally gut-punching bit of writing I’ve ever read in this fandom. It continues with other lore stuff afterwards that eventually branch off from just SBI and Tommy, but man. I don’t think I can ever forget that first chapter.
I’m not angry at you, well, sometimes I am (52801 words, 16 chapters, unfinished, last updated Jan 14 2021) by sircantus - After Tommy is exiled, he runs away to Techno’s house instead of going off with Dream. SBI decide some revenge and “world domination” is in order.
Fics set in AUs outside DSMP happenings:
One-shots and series of one-shots-
Empty Crowns AU by UnderUrsa - the SBI + Tubbo are gods, and a family. Series of one-shots. Nicely written, what can I say? Some angst, some fluff.
Secure, Contain, Protect AU by blue000jay - Amazingly written SCP AU. Knowledge of the SCP universe would help with understanding some more meta things, but is not needed to understand most of it. Some angst, disturbing themes around memories but nothing terribly gory.
CLASSIFIEDS. (13804 words, finished). SCP pages on SBI, short stories and audio transcriptions as well as files, lots of good lorebuilding here. Features an escape, + Tubbo!
CONFIDENTIALS. (13232 words, finished). Centers on Dream Team.
ARCHIVES. (1270 words, one-shot). What happened after SBI and Tubbo’s escape from the SCP foundation.
old gods (new gods) AU by WriterWinged - the relatively well known SBI gods AU. Amazingly written, great character interpretations.
the gods are cruel (none crueler then you) (1394 words, one-shot) - As much the grammatical mistake in the title hurts me it’s no doubt one of the best pieces of work in the fandom.
and yet they find kindness (and so do you) (2/4 chapters posted) - continuation of “the gods are cruel”.
there’s a risk to the world (but the kindest are strongest) (2/3 chapters posted) - continuation of “the gods are cruel”.
SBI Antarctic Princes AU by ScripWriter -  One of several Antarctic Empire AUs, this one just has these two preliminary one-shots but they’re nice bits of fun and neatly written. All fluff and mild hurt with lots of comfort so far.
Younger Holding On Another (1781 words, one-shot). Techno is a good brother and reassures and newly adopted Tommy.
But Oh, Don’t You Know How It Goes (2511 words. one-shot). Tommy, Techno, and Wilbur have some “fun” at a boring gala. Phil is very exasperated.
Antarctic Princes ‘verse AU by BirchWrites - AU where Techno, Tommy, and Wilbur are princes of the Antarctic Empire (well, Techno’s technically the emperor now), but this time the events of DSMP still happen (at least up to the 1st season).
Homeward bound for the arctic ground (10562 words, one-shot). Wilbur and Tommy travel to the Antarctic Empire in person to ask Techno for help in fighting Schlatt. Good worldbuilding and acknowledges Wilbur’s beginnings of insanity while still being rather light.
Surprise Hugs (2542 words, one-shot). Dream doesn’t realize Tommy is Techno’s brother and thinks he’s going to get killed for tackling the infamous Blood God.
Family Reunions (1396 words, one-shot). Fundy never realized he’s loyalty and Techno informs him unexpectedly.
Longer fics-
leave me your starlight (14620 words, 4 chapters, unfinished and last updated Jan 11 2021) by findingkairos - “Once upon a time, Philza Minecraft is the only person who does not shy away from the bloody teen that regularly turns the tide of war. This cements a friendship that will last wars, empires, worlds, and lifetimes.“ Amazing backstory fic on Phil and Techno’s relationships, one of my absolute personal favorites. Very well written and really digs into the intricacies of Techno’s character (or an interpretation of it, but hey, that’s what all fanfiction is).
I was a kid in a village, doing alright, then I became a prince overnight (21736 words, 5 chapters, last updated Jan 13 2021) by sircantus - another Antarctic princes AU, this time centering on 16 year old Tommy catching the attention of Phil, Techno, and Wilbur after thwarting an assassination attempt. Really well written. Actually, I rec all of sircantus’ SBI stuff because they do amazing work.
antarctic adage (26591 words, 4/7 chapters posted, last updated Jan 13 2021) by blue000jay - Another very well written Antarctic princes AU with Emperor/ruler Phil. Are we seeing a pattern yet? blue000jay is another writer I’d rec, with really great SBI stuff.
a renewal of faith, and of family (56684 words, 31 chapters, unfinished, last updated Jan 13 2021) by SolivangantStories - One of the only fics here that doesn’t feature SBI, this one is Tubbo and Dream centered. Basically, the DSMP!Tubbo is executed by Schlatt and wakes up in a world where Manhunt!Dream is trying not to die and is also actually a nice person, to Tubbo’s surprise and confusion. Not SBI and technically not even DSMP, but it’s really good so I’ve decided to rec it anyway.

I feel so conflicted about quackitys stream roxyyyyyy like, hes not having a villain arc per se, or at least thats not the vibe im getting, but he just looks so cruel. Its not like hes a diferent or corrupted person yknow, its still the same quackity, he hasnt changed much, he makes the same jokes and he reads his contracts and its still him and still,,,,,, its just like that cruelty was in him all along, he just hasnt ever used it much? Cause if he hasnt changed then the potential to do what hes doing rn was always there,,,,,, god i love his character so much you dont understand, c!quackity my beloved, sorry for gushing in your askbox you dont need to answer this but its just!!!! he!!!
Oh I think Quackity is definitely descending into villainy. I love it.
Let's do some comparisons, shall we?
Tommy is planning to kill Dream because he believes Dream is going to escape and bring destruction and suffering to his friends and loved ones. He wanted to be better person and wanted to keep Dream in prison without resorting to killing him, but with Dream's knowledge of how to revive people and the threat of bringing back Wilbur hanging over his head, Tommy feels that his hand has been forced. It is a reasonable reaction to the threat, and a reasonable punishment for the things Dream has done. It's justice.
Quackity, on the other hand, wants power over Dream. This is as much revenge as it is his own ambition.
It's a pretty hard sell convincing people that anyone is evil enough to deserve torture. It can still be argued that, no matter what he's done, Dream is still a person. Death should be punishment enough. Whatever Quackity was planning on doing with those scissors is on the extreme side.
But okay. Let's argue that Dream deserves everything he's getting. Even the scissors. And let's argue that torture was probably the only way Quackity was getting the book from him without making some kind of deal, and it's necessary to get the book away from Dream at all costs because of what he plans to do with it.
Is it still wrong, and a dumb idea? Uh, yeah! Quackity is getting the revive book for Jschlatt, of all people! He could have told him to fuck off, and left him to rot in his stupid gym with his McGraw Hill textbook! He never needed that book! Apparently Karl and Sapnap had the braincell that day, because that's still a terrible idea!
The thing about Quackity's character that makes this arc for him so compelling for me is that we've seen him change.
It's not like Dream, where we didn't get to see the circumstances from his point of view that made him evil, or Technoblade, where we did get to see his POV but he's always held the same exact opinion and hasn't budged one bit.
No, he's gone from neutral good to neutral evil, because he has learned that power and violence are the only things that make him safe. He's tried playing by the rules of government. But it didn't work. So he's making the rules this time.
And I love it.
(Sorry I answered this super late I saved this completed in my drafts and forgot about it 🙊)

techno shows up on lore and the dsmp tag is now littered with c!techno critical rabts here and there
anddddddd its making me want to ramble again lolol
first of i see a lot of people saying the c!wilbur c!techno apology/talk is a soft retcon or that it doesnt make sense so just wanna say
they didnt retcon anything to make c!techno look good, it was canonical from the start that all the characters had terrible terrible communication issues and the manburg v pogtopia era had so much ulterior hidden motives for all the characters and the ones that didnt were just mostly confused, unsure and frazzled so they went with the flow
the blame wasnt solely on c!wilbur but he did definitely kept the whole 'i will and i mean I WILL blow up lmanburg no matter what' plan all to himself, so not just techno but everyone got bamboozled during tht day
one thing that bugged me is that the c!techno rants werent bringing up the fact that c!wilbur legitimately wanted to blow up lmanburg with everyone in it so that itll truly be an unfinished symphony with no one to pick it back up and instead they phrased it as if the first lmancrater was mostly from the withers when it wasnt cause the water flowing through the area minimized the wither explosions but the tnt underground definitely worked its magic
the lil murder spree after didnt result in canon deaths either so technically it really isnt as horrible as what people are making it out as
the 2nd lmancrater with doomsday though?? ye go off i do agree it was very excessive even as a revenge plan from being executed it was way too much destruction
people kept bringing the red festival up again too, yes techno had the power to refuse and could probably escape with tubbo ok but if im not mistaken at tht time didnt they have a plan or sth?? a signal from either tubbo or wilbur that was supposed to cue in said escape?? did nyall conveniently forget tommy wanting to save tubbo but being held back because wilbur said not yet. watching from each of the perspective you can clearly see the doubt and confusion from each person. in technos pov hes still a fairly new person, yes he was brought in to help pogtopia but he wasnt sure of what his position in this secret coup was at this time, their initial plan did not account for the sudden execution and since there werent any other signs from his allies (or i guess boss since idk he feels like a mercenary to me during this point :/) he succumbed to peer pressure and blew the podium sky high
meanwhile tommy being a very loyal protective person, who knew of the blade and was told techno is on their side, expected techno to do what he would do if tommy was in technos place (kill schlatt, free tubbo) but unfortunately tommys fierce loyalty does not exist in techno who again is still fairly new and lorewise have just begun to get to know both tommy and tubbo (he only has past connections with wilbur so he probs also mostly puts his trust and confidence in wilburs words)
tl:dr the real antagonist in the dsmp is and always will be the shitty communication skills the characters have be it in communicating their motives, feelings, agenda, etc etc
oh also for the whole prison thing
idk bout you but dream did save technos life and hes only sticking to his philosophy of an eye for an eye, p sure even if phil or niki refused to help he would still try to save the green teletubby
c!techno definitely is having a hard time garnering sympathy from a lot of dsmp fans mainly because he c!techno is very detached and doesnt form meaningful connections very easily (except ig phil and ranboo which is why emeraldduo and peerpressure duo are one of his most famous dsmp dynamics because it actually exists properly) while dsmp is rooted heavily in the bonds the characters make with each other especially regarding the s1 cast so seeing this character who seems to disregard everyone else will leave a sour taste in their mouth but as much as you hate it or love it, like what wilbur have said before on a reddit post, c!technos character is still consistent as lawful neutral (someone who does things mainly for their benefit/to further their personal goals with whatever is available to them without much care to whether or not its 'right' or 'wrong')

Hi! I follow you, and you're reblogging a lot of Dream SMP stuff, and I googled what the plot was and I didn't find anything so can you tell me the plot?
Alright
I covered the plot of Season One here:
https://bewaretheidesofmarchyall.tumblr.com/post/635954614437593088/hey-i-really-like-minecraft-and-used-to-watch
So, here’s what happened in Season Two!
Ranboo arrives! He’s half-enderman, he has amnesia, and he’s new in town!
Tommy and Ranboo broke George’s house, which gave Dream a flimsy excuse to build enormous obsidian walls around L’Manburg
In order to get the walls taken down, Tubbo is forced to exile Tommy
So, Tommy is sent away to Logstedshire, and becomes depressed (The fact that Dream shows up every day to destroy his things and emotionally manipulate him doesn’t help)
He comes very close to taking his final canon life, but he realizes what a terrible person Dream had been to him and runs away from Logstedshire to live in Technoblade’s basement
Speaking of Technoblade! He’s getting executed!
The Butcher Army (Quackity, Tubbo, Fundy, and Ranboo) decided that he needed to pay for the whole “releasing withers into the city and leaving into the night” thing
They were unaware that Technoblade had stopped his violent ways and was just living a peaceful retirement in the arctic with his favorite horse, Carl.
So, the Butcher Army shows up and threatens Carl to get Technoblade to follow them back to L’Manburg
They attempt to execute him with an anvil, but unbeknownst to them Technoblade had a totem of Undying
With Dream’s help, he escapes into the night after killing Quackity with a pickaxe.
Techno is greeted with a surprise when he returns home to find Tommy living in his basement. He decides to team up with the kid, and shows him his giant vault of wither skulls with the iconic line “Welcome Home, Theseus”
Meanwhile, the Butcher Army starts planning how to kill Dream at the next festival
Oh! There’s also a giant maximum security prison now!
And a mind-controlling alien parasite called The Crimson!!
There’s a lot of subplots
But we’ll skip to the Green Festival, where Dream does not die
No, the only things that die at that festival are L’Manburg’s chances and Techno and Tommy’s friendship
Basically, Dream blew up the Community House and blamed it on Tommy, then used it as an even flimsier excuse to get Tubbo to surrender the final disc (one of the things Tommy cares about the most in the game)
Tommy, who was watching the entire thing invisibly with Technoblade jumps in and fights with Tubbo, upset that he would even consider handing over his discs
However, he has a moment of self-realization, and he lowers his weapon, telling Tubbo to give up the disc
Despite his words, despite even some of his actions, he’s always going to choose Tubbo.
Tommy leaves Technoblade and joins up with Tubbo again, which Technoblade is obviously not a fan of.
Sadly, once Dream has both discs, there’s no reason for him to keep L’Manburg around, and he tells the crowd that the country will be destroyed tomorrow
They prepare for Doomsday
Dream, Techno, and Phil show up the next day
L’Manburg doesn’t stand a chance
The city is destroyed with withers and replicating TNT, and all that stands is a crater and one flag
That was four days ago
What comes next?
Tommy is still determined to get his discs back, mostly because he needs to focus on that or he’ll have a breakdown
Tubbo is dabbling in mad science, and blames himself. He’s made a new house that could one day become a country of its very own once Dream isn’t around to screw things up.
It’s called Snowchester
Technoblade is back to vibing in the arctic after destroying a country. Still feels betrayed by Tommy.
Ghost Wilbur was very upset by the destruction of L’Manburg, since he was the one who owned the most stuff there. He wants to be brought back to life, which will be attempted today!
Phil has taken Ranboo under his wing and given him a place to stay, since he helped blow up his old house. Phil is also trying to bring back his son, Wilbur, from the dead.
Ranboo is not doing great, but he’s coping. He has a panic room, and has been needing it a lot lately after he was revealed as a “traitor” (it’s complicated). Currently living in the arctic with Phil and Techno, though that could change.
Quackity still may or may not be possessed (it’s complicated), but he’s cut ties with L’Manburgian government and is really trying to kill off Dream (but with diplomacy)
Fundy is also trying to kill off Dream, after he sabotaged the Anti-Doomsday effort and is having a corruption arc of his own. He and Ranboo are not that good of friends any more.
Niki burnt down the L’Mantree. She’s at an unstable part of her character arc, and isn’t doing great. Currently teaming with Jack Manifold.
Eret is a noble and kind king, and they’re the only one really doing okay here
Jack Manifold went to hell (He got better!), and now wants to take revenge on Tommy.
Callahan mourns the Community House
Sapnap has reconciled with Tommy, and fought on the right side of history for once
I think Punz is still a spy, but I’m not sure about that one
Captain Puffy is alright, I think.
George still wasn’t there for Doomsday
The Crimson grows
And Dream? Dream has finally destroyed L’Manburg. All that’s left for him is to destroy Tommyinnit once and for all.
Everyone on the server wants to kill god (and by god I mean Dream). The only problem is that everyone is really bad at teamwork.
If every person on the server actually works together, I think they can take Dream down and be free to live their own lives, complicated as those may be.
That’s the only hope at this point.
(Finally, Purpled played Bedwars instead of showing up to Doomsday)
If you have any other questions, please ask! I wasn’t able to cover everything that’s happened on this server, so if you want to know more about certain characters or theories, my ask box is always here.
Thanks for reading!

Fuck it, lets be gods
Dream: God of Mystery. Controls the enigmas of the mortal realm. Ironically, has close to no power in the pantheon, and is Extremely pissed about it. Minor God of Control, Power, and Thieving. If you and/or a loved one has recently found one of your most prized possessions stolen, there’s a chance the Mystery God has found himself a new plate of meat to play with. Tread with caution, and keep your enemies close. No one likes the God of Mystery.
Schlatt: God of Secrecy. Every whisper you share, he hears. Frequently visits those having affairs, just to fuck with them. Also visits those suffering from addiction. Minor God of alcohol, drug usage, and rams. If you feel as though you’ve become something no one forgives, it’s likely the Secret God has touched your soul with bile. Be not afraid when you die, he welcomes all with a smile and a swig of whiskey.
Techno: God of Trust. Be mindful to never use those around you, he will tear you in twine. Aside from being a God, he also acts as a servant for the Angel. Minor God of loyalty, war, and revenge. The servant of blood is not to be fooled with. A savage beast born from mans greatest ailment: his own dishonesty. Do not lie to a pig, for they will never find your corpse.
Philza: God of Creation. All mountains and streams are made of the same gods tears. Those who follow the Creator are forever under his control, and even in death do they serve him. The Angel of Death, the Blood God, the destructor. Atoms cannot be destroyed or created, and you must get your building blocks from somewhere. Minor God of birds, death, and dreams. Those who hope are often imbued with the spirit of the Blood God. But do not try to escape his afterlife, he’s a firm believer in “You Only Live Once”.
Ranboo: God of Duality. The cost of silken fists is a broken memory. An eye for an eye is what the Dual God lives by, forever in a constant battle with himself. He’s haunted by apparitions of the Mystery God, cursed to have sacred hymns whispered into his psyche. Those touched by his careful hand frequently forget their names. Wrote the 3 Great Tomes, but lost 2. Minor God of memory, cats, and the Sky.
Wilbur: God of Possession. He has his things and you have yours, keep it that way. Those touched by his demanding grasp often hoard and steal. He is defiant towards the pantheon, cast out by his own Father and cursed to roam the earth as a wandering Bard. Minor God of music, explosives, and performance. Any performer or star wears a pendant of the Possessive God on their neck, for good luck. His unfinished symphony lives on in the demigods he raised, and in a siren mistress.
Tommy: Demi-god of Attachment. Before Tommy, the world was very bleak. Only the gods felt connections, and from the Creation God bore a human child capable of caring. He sent him down to be raised by his eldest son, the Possessive God, and to be brought into his godhood by age 16. This did not go as planned. The Possessive God disappeared without a trace, and the Mystery God took Tommy under his wing. Tommy has been cloaked by Mystery, and left to fend for himself with no friends in sight.
Tubbo: Demi-god of Devotion. Tubbo met a lone boy in the forest, and climbed a rickety tower to where a demigod reached for his home. Together they’ve become great soldiers and best friends, working with others to fight back against the tyrants who wish to hurt them. Visited by the Servant of Blood and brought to their knees by the Mystery God, they only wish to find peace alone with themselves. Tubbo has visions of a Secret God, a goat man who leads him to make decisions to favor the very gods he wishes to know. The God of Creation shows distance towards his children, but to Tubbo the most.
Fundy: Demi-god of Trickery. Cursed into a fox body with the brain of a genius, Fundy wanders the mortal world searching for someone who will simply listen to him. Luckily, with the help of the Dual God, Fundy found himself to be a bipedal beast with glowing eyes and great, sharp teeth. He now serves the Dual God and keeps his many tomes in pristine order. Though sometimes, when the Gods sleep and the town dreams, he stares into the sky and longs to find his lost family. Fundy has lately been seen drinking with a man people can only describe as “severely intoxicated, like really man go home.”
Quackity: Bard of Corruption. A humble butcher hellbent on murdering the Servant of Blood, Quackity uses his supernatural qualities to morph his face into another. He frequently takes the mask of the Mystery God, and finds himself the owner of much land simply because he resembles a God. He mocks the Gods, too, creating personas that dirty the Gods names and create propaganda about their intentions. Quackity is very intuitive, extremely smart, and with enough cockiness about him that he can serenade even the coldest hearts with his lovely music. He sold his butcher shop and took himself and his good friend Sapnap on a great journey to find a God willing to fund their operation. And they did.
Karl: God of Prevention. Karl has traveled through time and space trying to stop the terrible things he’s seen, and he’s failed every time he’s tried. Minor God of dance, wealth, and the arts. Karl was so close to resetting again, when a wild bard and an AWOL knight begged him for funding. He... he couldn’t turn them away. He found himself enamored with their jokes and the way they danced around his temple, chasing each other with sticks and small daggers. Karl, for the first time in his eons of living, danced. This timeline wasn’t like the others. In the others, his Bard died. In others, his Knight never left the castle. In the others, he never swung in their embrace and asked them to stay forevermore.
Sapnap: a once loyal knight turned to murder and thieving, Sapnap is a force to be reckoned with. He once dueled the Servant of Blood himself, and would’ve won had it not been for the Servants second wind. For his good fight, the Servant rewarded him with the Axe of Peace, a enchanted weapon created from the Servants very soul. Sapnap sold it to a wandering soldier boy dubbed ‘Theseus’. He followed his fellow Quackity to the temple of Suspension, where they found a lonesome God on the brink of madness. He’s now engaged to said God, along with Quackity, and ferrying him around the world, showing him everything he’s missed cooped up in that temple.
Jack Manifold: The man who escaped the labyrinth, Jack Manifold is as shifty as they come. He was slaughtered by Tommy, and hellbent on revenge he tore his way out of the Creation Gods labyrinth, and started his hunt. Cursed with a capped chain and a broken spirit, even the Servant shakes when he sees Jack Manifold. He’s recently joined the Blood Gods temple, and his triumph in his labyrinth gave him a great deal of leverage. The Blood God himself has given him protection, bidding him to find and kill his youngest son. Jack Manifold plans to do just that, and he’s not going to stop there.
Niki: Niki Nihachu is a woman of great power, protected by the Possessive God and close ally to the Servant. She left her home in ruins and burned the great tree which she had grown to hate, calling upon the Possessive Gods sacred soul to grant her the power of explosion. And grant he did. She now finds herself working with one Jack Manifold and, with the help of the Servant, she’s found the location of the Demi-god Tommy. She plans to assassinate him, becoming the true heiress to the Possessive Gods thrown in the pantheon. She’s had great success, as of late.
Note: in this AU Tommy is one of philzas children, but in a “I created you from nothing” type beat. Tommy isn’t his Blood son, but instead a ball of magic melded into human shape by the Angel. Philza then sent Tommy away to be raised by Wilbur. I came up with this AU when Tommy was still assumed to be Philzas son in canon, and it fits the story well so I’m not gonna change it. Just know: philza is not a “bad dad”, he’s a really cool god who got bored and created a funny little demigod to go and cause problems. He also respectfully bid Jack Manifold, among others, to hunt down his creation bc he’s a Girlboss in this AU lmao.
