The thing about Supernatural is. You watch what was the worst rated Supernatural episode for ages. And you go yeah that checks out!! It’s an episode that consists of CW actors twitching and flailing at nothing with a overlay of unconvincing CGI bug swarms, which manages to be disgusting and off-putting without being scary. It’s also involves an attempt to engage with America’s history of Native American genocide which! In the imaginary good supernatural would be something the show engages with deeply. But that would force a confrontation with much of the core ethos of the show, and they won’t be doing that! So instead they just do the “Indian” burial ground trope.

Meanwhile in the in-between times it explores a dynamic between brothers and their father so complex and gut wrenching it makes me want to chew my arm off, and even then it’s clear that it’s only scratching the surface, that there’s so much more complexity and exploration to come, and yeah I do want to watch 14 more season exploring the ramifications of this actually—

And then in conclusion the family-of-the-week’s father-son relationship his is healed by ?????? and also John was always doing his best and Sam’s really should apologize to his Dad because he wasn’t nice enough to John while being thrown out of the house for daring to have an identity and goals of his own :)))))))

Do you think this will be the Good Girls’ fandom last appreciation week ever? It feels like it, not many are participating anyway. It’s upsetting as the fandom’s got great talents yet only 3 events and no more to come, unlike Gilmore Girls.😭

I hope not, anon! There's still a number of people posting great gifs and fic and graphics for it after all, and that's something to celebrate and be grateful for!

The fandom was small even in its brightest days, but I do think it's a show that meant a lot to a lot of people - gosh, the fact that it even has a few antis still making content or posting about it is a testament to that, haha, but I also think what's left of the fandom's become less centralised and more divided over the last eighteen months, which does make organising this sort of event more challenging (and huge kudos to all the work Peach has done in creating it!)

I think there's a whole range of reasons for that, from people picking sides in the casts disagreements, to certain people making the main tag for the show hostile to visit, particularly for new fans, to interpersonal conflict between people, to core content producers taking a step back for a wide and varied mix of reasons. It's complicated! And in many ways, I think these are divides that are actually likely to close over time instead of widen as people move on or move forward or both, and especially as new people discover the show, which seems to actually be happening every day given my notes and ao3 stats.

Timing's also difficult - I know I had ambitious plans to post a few things this week (and I still hope to post at least one thing), but I voted for a later window knowing May-July was crazy busy for me both personally and professionally, and now this week has timed with me being summoned for jury duty tomorrow, which will be its own adventure, of course, but also require me to surrender my phone on a daily basis, which doesn't make participation easy, haha.

So yes! I think it'll happen again, anon, but right now I'm just happy to enjoy the wonderful work people are putting out for this one. 😊

In a “billions won’t be hoarded by one person” type of way. In a “janitors, fast-food workers, child care workers, preschool teachers, hotel clerks, personal care and home health aides, and grocery store cashiers, will live comfortably” type of way. somehow instead of saying "as a treat", I've started using the phrase "for morale", as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.

and so I will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale.
