;R1999 TENNANT - General Headcanons
Tumblr media
Compilation of headcanons and analysis on Tennant as a character and other related things.
Tumblr media
I missed doing analysis like this and I got burnt out from writing oneshots, so since someone asked for a Tennant post last month or so, here we are <3
she's literally the only 5* I don't have, the woman avoids me like the plague LMFAO. because of this, the screenshots and examples will be taken directly from the fandom wikia!
Tumblr media
On the subject of diamonds, Laurence Tennant and the House of Tennant.
I feel like we should talk first about her father, as it will give more context as to her current personality and themes. For the sake of making things less confusing, I'll be addressing Tennant by her real name (Ada) throughout this specific bullet point!
Going by Ada's Cover profile, we can confirm that she was born in Birmingham and at the age of 15, moved with her father to New Delhi.
Thanks to the 01 Story, we understand that the Tennants moved from their homeland because of Laurence's job (mining, identifying and transporting diamonds from British India to the UK). It's also worth noting that the House of Tennant seems to be extremely valuable to the UK because of their mineral/diamond related skills and arcanum - note how Ada's father is titled Sir Laurence Tennant in the first part, and how they strip him of his title.
Tumblr media
But what the 01 Story fails to explain is the reason Laurence was persecuted. He's suspected of "an arcanum-related crime, thef, fraud" and other six unknown charges, that's all we know. The 02 Story gives a little more information on the crime he might've committed to have such a large bounty on his head.
"…Laurence Tennant stands accused of an arcanum-related crime, in which he may have turned a batch of diamonds into charcoal on their way to Britain through his arcane skill. The colonial government is still in search of Laurence Tennant and trying to locate the whereabouts of the diamonds and therefore cannot take legal action against the suspect at the moment."
Basically, he does the exact same thing Ada is currently known for. The year this event takes place in is also important - Bluepoch puts a lot of references to real people and events, and given how the House of Tennant lived through the british occupation of India and how they're related to the diamond mining industry, I'd like to talk about a very specific diamond: Koh-i-Noor, one of the largest diamonds in the world.
Now, as usual, I'm only getting this information from skimming wikipedia articles and anyone with more knowledge on this subject is free to correct me or add to the post!
The Koh-i-Noor is notorious for its conflicting and confusing origins, with the earliest mention of its existence being around the 1740s and that it was directly looted from Delhi. This diamond was passed around various royal figures, but we'll focus on what happened to it on the year Laurence Tennant went missing. In 1937, the Koh-i-Noor was put on the crown of Queen Elizabeth for her coronation.
For full transparency, the diamond had been in possession of the Royal British Family since 1851, so the idea that Laurence Tennant might've somehow acquired it while he was aaaaall the way in New Delhi doesn't exactly make much sense. Still, I feel like the year chosen for this event, the themes and the theft of diamonds, plus the subtle emphasis on british colonialism that Tennant's character has, are still worth discussing, to draw more parallels between the real events and the details chosen by Bluepoch.
Laurence Tennant might've or might've not stolen the Koh-i-Noor, for all we know he simply could've switched a handful of regular diamonds for charcoal using his arcane skills. To me this doesn't explain all the chaos that ensued, but it could still be a thing that happened!
My personal headcanon on this matter is that the House of Tennant has been doing this since the very beginning. Father and daughter share the same arcanum, after all. Laurence Tennant was stated to have been working in the diamond industry for many, many years - there's no way he could've missed something as important as the Koh-i-Noor. And in the context of politics, it's way easier to accuse the perpetrator of many different, smaller crimes than the big crime that could ridicule the crown or the authorities in power. I personally like to think this is what happened with the Tennants - that the Koh-i-Noor was found to be fake during Queen Elizabeth's coronation, that they finally realized Laurence Tennant's long scam, and they accused him of minor crimes to save face all while giving him the biggest fucking bounty known to man during those years.
What leads me to believe that the House of Tennant, that both father and daughter were scamming the crown all along, is Ada's 02 Story.
Tumblr media
Once her father disappears, he's gone for good. Ada never mentions him again, not in her voicelines, not in her interview with Pandora Wilson. Ada never seems to grieve his disappearance, which seems weird since there's nothing that hints towards them being on bad terms. As far as we know, the Tennant family is only them.
A year after Laurence Tennant disappears from the face of the Earth, his daughter follows. In 1938, Ada also escapes the authorities that were actively supervising her during Laurence's case. We don't know how old she was exactly, other than she must've been older than 15 at minimum. And if she was spotted around the 1940s with her current age being 25, well...
For someone that young to vanish without a trace despite all the constant surveillance, all the attention drawn to her family due to her father's crime - to me it seems like she learned from the best. Especially when she begins her own career of crime in Paris that very same year, using the exact same methods as her father, the legacy of her family.
This would also explain Ada's constant lying and acting. These are all things she learned from her father, someone who was never truly obedient and loyal to the people he worked with.
I would also like to draw parallels between Ada and Druvis III. It's the same argument and parallels I talked about when discussing Forget Me Not. Feel free to skip this, if you already know the deal.
Both characters, Ada and Druvis, were part of important arcanist families, known and respected for their specific arcane skills. Both of them had to leave their homes behind: Druvis, an immigrant forced to abandon her roots and traditions for the sake of assimilating into the "american dream". Ada, who moved into one of the colonies her own country was actively exploiting, an outsider and indirect participant in the mining of diamonds.
Both characters also carry their families and legacies in their names, but whereas Druvis is constantly haunted by her past and the way people continue to talk about her family, the House of Tennant is forgotten. Ada's first birthday quote states:
Many years ago, the Tennants held a birthday banquet for their beloved daughter on this day. But now, almost no one remembers this déclassé family.
The House of Tennant is gone, despite their importance in history and the huge crime commited, no one remembers them. And yet, Ada wears her family name proudly, there's barely anyone left to remember where it comes from and the weight it used to carry.
It's understandable that people recognize Druvis. But why can't people remember the House of Tennant? I don't have an answer for this, I just think it's a very interesting thing, some food for thought!
On the subject of Tennant's ties to New Delhi, colonialism and her stance on racial and arcanist/human issues.
Not to hit everyone with heavy topics, but I feel this is an aspect of Tennant that often goes overlooked in favour of her whole seductive vibes.
Now, Tennant was born in the United Kingdom, but she has a noticeable darker tone to her skin, and while her ethnicity is never stated, it might be implied that she's a woman of color. I've seen people say that she's tan because of the time she spent in New Delhi - she does have a voiceline speaking about the scorching sun - but... She left New Delhi years ago. A tan you get from the sun doesn't ... stick for a decade. That argument doesn't make sense at all to me.
Either way, while I'll be treating her ethnicity as ambiguous, I felt it was important to note out that she might not be white, especially because of the themes I'll be addressing here.
Now, first and foremost I want to talk about the way Tennant talks of New Delhi - this is not the country she was born in, nor the place she was raised, as it's implied that she was also pretty young when she left for Paris. Yet she makes no references to the United Kingdom.
New Delhi? To be honest, I barely remember anything about it. It doesn't make much difference to England, aside from the scorching sun.
This quote? This is a lie. This is Tennant choosing to lie to Vertin for reasons I'll talk about in the next bullet point. How do I know it's a lie? Because the last item you can unlock for Tennant is this.
Tumblr media
Cheap accessories she bought in New Delhi. And they must mean a lot to Tennant, because Pandora Wilson notes that it's impressive that she's managed to keep them until now.
The first skin Tennant gets in 1.3 is "Roaming in Delhi".
Tumblr media
The text reads:
Back then, whenever there was a day off, I would put on a local outfit and wander around Delhi to visit some historical sites and handicraft shops... Those days were fun. Yours, Tennant.
Clearly, Tennant still thinks about Delhi. The time she spent there must've been important to her because to this day, she still carries part of it with her.
I believe that during her time there, Tennant came to understand the way rich countries exploit others, the lengths they'll go for something as simple as diamonds. And now, knowing that she dressed up as a local and saw their way of life first hand during the british occupation, it gives a lot more depth to her character and why she seems to cherish New Delhi above all the other places she's been in.
I won't pretend I'm a history buff. Again, all this information comes from quick searches and reading wikipedia articles. I'm a person of color myself, but I cannot speak on the struggle India and its people went through.
What I gathered is that Tennant lived through the last stages of the Indian Independence Movement. And given how Tennant was spotted in the 1940's, it's safe to say that she outlived the British Raj, as India gained independence in 1947. The fact that all of these important events were chosen for her backstory doesn't seem like a coincidence to me. It makes sense that Tennant does not abide by laws and is considered a criminal - because the authorities she witnessed were anything but just and fair to the commonfolk. We must also take into account the issues R1999 introduces between arcanists and humans, which overlap with our own racial issues in the real world to a degree.
This might be a reach from my part, but notice how the news from Tennant's 01 Story change when addressing her father. First it's "an official in British India, Sir Laurence Tennant", when they believe him to be missing. Later, after they issue a wanted notice, it's "senior official, mineralogist, arcanist Laurence Tennant". They've already stripped him of his title and now that he's officially a criminal in the eyes of the government, they felt it was necessary to state he was an arcanist. And sure, they also stated his previous role and his job, but as a person of color myself it definitely feels similar to the way POC's ethnicities are highlighted in media whenever they're accused of crimes.
Language and wording matters a lot, and perhaps this is why Tennant knows this, why one of her most effective methods is sweet-talking.
Either way, Tennant does speak of politics and I think her character as a whole was meant to be political given the details we just discussed. There's this exchange at the beginning of her interview with Pandora Wilson:
Pandora Wilson: What's the difference between Britain, India and France to you? Tennant: Nothing different, my beautiful lady. Pandora Wilson: What do you mean? Tennant: For me, humans are all the same, no matter where they are from. Tennant: We share the same virtues and the same weaknesses, and we can't do anything about it. They are part of human nature.
Tennant has experienced all three points of view - that of the oppressor, moving to New Dehli because her family's business is involved in the diamond mining market. That of the oppressed, both as an arcanist and from the times she disguised herself as a local to experience life as just another girl from New Dehli. That of a third party, oblivious to the issues, in a brand new country who does not concern itself with these matters and live a beautiful life in ignorance.
She doesn't see any difference when it comes to all these countries she visited, because she knows of the struggles and how stupid prejudice and bigotry are.
Arcanists, within the universe of R1999, are hinted to be an entirely different race to humans because of the many differences in their biology, with their appearance being one of the things they share. And yet, Tennant doesn't make this distinction - WE share the same virtues. WE can't do anything about it. We are all the same, no matter where we come from.
Tennant, despite the lies she attempts to sell to the world, is an extremely grounded individual, just as multifaceted as the diamonds she recreates!
On the subject of Tennant's lies.
We can't talk about Tennant without addressing her whole lying motif. I've already covered characters who aren't fully transparent with their thoughts, feelings or intentions - not necessarily deceitful on purpose like, let's say, Forget Me Not, but just misleading.
In Tennant's case, this is taken to an extreme.
She's described as a fraudster, a con artist. There's a lot of stress into the fact that one cannot trust her. Deceit runs in her family, her medium is lies, her Inheritance Skill is called "Beautiful Lie". She states that her hobby is "diddling", cheating and scamming others...
And yet, this entire act is a performance.
Tumblr media
This might be a controversial take, but Tennant is honest.
She delivers exactly the sort of behaviour and persona that people expect her to, the one she's built throughout the years. She's playing a character and performing for those willing to approach her despite the very red flags - because Tennant makes it extremely obvious that she's not someone to be trusted. You can see it in the way she speaks to Vertin.
Sunlight eases people's mind and endows diamonds with glowing luxury. What a perfect occasion for deceiving.
Good morning, my lady. I've prepared you fresh coffee, sandwiches, and this shiny diamond. Of course, I would never lie to you. This is a piece of cultured work. But look how it sparkles, how elegant, isn't it?
If you want to, you're always welcome at my place. I will be here, with my cleverest scam, waiting for your arrival and, of course, an invitation to yours.
This isn't to say that Tennant doesn't lie - she does that a lot, a good chunk of her voicelines are directly contradicted by her items. The voiceline in the middle is a lie. She's lied to Vertin already, when she said she did not remember New Dehli. She vaguely poses as a man...
If else, lies are to be expected when she's playing her part, when she's painting a picture of her nature as a con artist for you to fall for.
And speaking of falling for Tennant, aside from the whole counterfeit diamond scam, seduction is another aspect to her character. I don't have to go in-depth about this because everyone and their dog has seen her Insight 2 illustration, a good chunk of women who play the game did it because of Tennant's charms. Every day I look through the tag and see people talk about how Tennant was the one character that enticed them to play.
But I will point out a few other details! This is one of her voicelines.
So what's next? The young lady of the rich, resolute and courageous as she is, disregards my humble beginnings and takes her possessions to elope with me. But then, I will leave her and disappear, forever.
And this is the information given for her second birthday login.
On this day, countless maidens in Paris went dizzy with love. They all just happened to encounter an elegant, charming gentleman who gave them a "unique" invitation to a birthday date.
These fleeting relationships, her constant flattery and flirting - they're part of the performance and all the women who fall for it are willing participants. As far as I know, Tennant never steals from them, her targets being merchants and people who can afford to spend money on diamonds so frivolously.
This is why Tennant insists her behaviour is harmless, it's a game. Her conversation in the Wilderness is a perfect example of the way she operates, specifically the way she opens with:
Ironically, diamond itself is a product of lies. I merely add a new layer to it, won't you agree?
The phrase "a product of lies" is very evocative to me. Tennant more than anyone is aware of the truth about diamonds - their value is artificially inflated to support the whole market, but they're not that valuable and they're mostly sold to rich people. So she's right, a diamond is a product of lies! But this phrase could also be read differently, like the way a diamond is born from coal, or the way something so "high class" and brittle could be created through insane amounts of pressure and work. Again,
Bluepoch gives their character many, many layers, the same way Tennant adds yet another layer to the lies of a diamond.
Tumblr media
"It's just a lie known to everyone."
So, to summarize: Tennant is honest and upfront about her lies, she's playing a character. Her big scam is to make people fall for something so obvious - she makes maidens fall in love with her despite everything, she makes merchants buy into her fake diamonds. It's both an innocent performance and a risky game she plays. It's like her Ultimate says - she has a sincere heart, just split into many pieces.
What leads me to believe that Tennant is also a very kind-hearted woman is the fact that one of her skills is a shield. This is also something I talked about when analyzing Dikke, since she's also a very violent person whose healing skill give more insight into her character. It's the same for Tennant here!
Tumblr media
"People have always dreamed of such thing, no matter it's in the distant universe, or right in front of them."
These little things and the previous point portray a different Tennant altogether - she's offering a harmless, whirlwind romance to many girls out there who are willing to play along, who are enticed by the danger without knowing they're safe and sound by her side, to give them a taste of something beautiful and fleeting. She carries around a gun that is explicitly "seldom pulled out".
To end the post, I have to admit I don't have many in-depth headcanons for Tennant? At least not enough to warrant more bullet points, and I already sprinkled a few throughout the post, so that's about it from me!

HETALIA ☆ WORLD STARS (515)
America really likes to... to be himself (please, admire the car and a "Thank you very much" to my sister, somehow she did it!)
Translation notes at the end: ‘cuz I took a lot of “creative freedoms(?)” and sometimes I forgot the meaning of words (“kanji”). Warning: I don’t know Italian (thanks Reddit), German (my sister knows), French (a bit) and Chinese (ref. Chinese friend).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
T/N:
Page 1.
Italia + Pikachu, Itachu or Pikalia, but the last sounds horrible.
"Il faut que jeunesse se passe", the literal and no literal meaning is: "Youth must have its fling", in other words, "let America be America, let him have fun".
"后生可畏". I wasn't sure whether to add Chinese, but if others can, why not China? I really love this Chinese proverb, and I also like to study Confucius (little story) so it's a double prize! A friend of mine told me that in her school they make them read the teachings of Confucius, so… he's pretty popular!
"The hero always arrives late!", this is pretty obvious and well-know, but to be a little more academic: The Hero's Journey. After overcoming the "abyss/defeat", the hero returns transformed to save the day! At the very last minute! Like… the format that all cliché Hollywood movies use.
Page 3.
"Mitico": "great", "fantastic", "brilliant", etc.
"The specified Cost":
France: 1.94% less, I searched, but I couldn't find how much of France's PIB is spent on tourism.
Page 4.
Italy's PIB, it's in euros, but, as in France's case, it has to be converted into dollars to be considered as approximation.
In 2023, the Italian government spent between 40-60 million dollars on tourism, which coincides a little bit with the "-41 in cost" in the letter, I guess.
Page 5.
"Ungeheuer", "monster". I agreed to translate Hetalia with the condition that I have fun, no matter if the words come out of nowhere.
In tourism: America (3) and Italy (4).
Page 6.
"1st Place, America". So I assume his cards will have something to do with that:
1) Technology. Japan (1) and America (2) are the most technologically advanced countries by far.
2) Wall Street. Who doesn't know the place? It is the economic centre of the world... for now.
3) Film Industry. Hollywood is the largest, richest and most important "corporation".
4) NASA. And the other private American companies. I wouldn't say they are number one, but they are well-known.
5) Army. China (1), India (2) and America (3), by number of soldiers.
Against Germany, Italy and Japan (technology):
1) Cars, but unlikely. In order of revenue: (1) Volkswagen, Germany, (2) Toyota, Japan and (3) Stellantis, Netherlands.
2) Engineering. Most of them are either Japanese or German companies.
3) Germany is good and top 5 in 2.
America is really the number one, although most of them are for not-so-good things. It must be its size and diversity, I think, and the two world wars.
"Non è vero?", "It's not true?" or, in this case, "Isn't it?"
Is there a problem/error? Please say so! And thank you for your support!

Book Openings I Love
Deciding how to start your book is an important and daunting question. I put together a list of book openings I love- and what makes them so good- to help brainstorm.
If you have any you'd like to add, please do! Let's keep this post ongoing.
1) Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
Anyone who read this book as a kid will know exactly what I mean.
'The Lightning Thief' starts with a warning to the reader to stop reading the book immediately and believe whatever lies their parents have told them. Otherwise, 'they' might come for them.
An adult might roll their eyes at this, but as a kid, you believe it. You find yourself wondering if what you're reading is true. It makes you feel like you're a part of this story- even if you haven't realized it yet. So, as you read on, you might end up looking for the signs and clues that this world of Greek gods and monsters exists around you in real life. The lines between fiction and reality blur, if only for a little while, and you become immersed in the story, because on some level, you can't help but want it to be real.
It also leaves you feeling that by reading this, you're doing something forbidden- something dangerous. Exactly the kind of stuff that gets your heart racing as a kid.
2) Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Life of Pi is one of my favorite books of all time, and the beginning has a lot to do with it.
"This book was born as I was hungry. Let me explain."
The book begins with an author's note that's not exactly an author's note. It begins as any author's note might- the writer explains how his previous publication was a bust, and that he took a trip to India to reinvigorate his creativity as he tried to write a new book that ultimately sputtered and died. That was, until he met a man who promised to tell him a story that will make him believe in God. The man then told him to seek out the main character, who is alive, and living in Canada. When the author does, he agrees that his story is indeed a story to make one believe in God, and commits to writing it down as a book through the main character's point of view, only with the disclaimer "any inaccuracies or mistakes are mine."
As they follow this progression, because of the way it's all structured, there's a good chance the reader might find themselves asking "Wait, is this a true story?"
The answer is of course no, and anyone who's read through most of the book would probably figure that out easily. However, if you get to the ending, you realize the question "Is this a true story?" has significant implications for the story's themes- and that makes them all the more resonant.
TL;DR: Life of Pi's beginning does the same as The Lightning Thief's beginning, only in a less obvious way that's far more effective on adults.
3) One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus
The premise of "One of Us is Lying" is that someone killed a boy named Simon, and that the people in the room when it happened- who just so happen to be the four POV characters- are the main suspects. The book then starts off my immediately putting the reader in the scene where Simon dies.
Now I'm not sure if this is a common mystery novel set up (I haven't read enough of this genre to know), but it's an effective one. This has the effect of getting the reader engaged in the story right from the get-go. Instead of passively reading the chain of events, the people who picked up the book are already going to be searching in between the lines for any clues on 'who done it.'
But not only is the reader looking all the little details in the scene, but they're also going to be questioning the POV of the person narrating the chapter. From the very start of the story, the reader gets immersed in several levels of tension that hook them and carry them through the rest of the story.
4) The Giver by Lois Lowry
"It was almost December, and Jonas was beginning to be frightened. No. Wrong word, Jonas thought. Frightened meant that deep, sickening feeling of something terrible about to happen."
The first chapter begins with a scene of an aircraft flying overhead a peaceful community, and a child narrator who's overly careful about using the right words to describe things. The narrator's trait doesn't appear to be unique though- a quick flashback to a moment in his classroom shows that this tendency has been drilled into him, just as with any other kid. The reader immediately gets the sense that something is off. What that something is, though, is a bit harder to pin.
There doesn't seem to be anything nefarious going on, aside from maybe the mention of a citizen getting 'released' after the aircraft landed and everything calmed down. Only, later in that chapter, being 'released' gets mentioned twice again at his family dinner, as his parents discuss how their work went that day. But otherwise, the dinner seems to be a normal and mundane affair with an emotionally mature, functional family. Maybe a little too functional.
So, when Jonas decides that the feeling he's experiencing is 'apprehensive,' the readers start to feel that way too.
5) A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan
The preface and first chapter of "A Natural History of Dragons" does a great job of introducing one of the series's greatest assets: its main character.
"One benefit of being an old woman now, and moreover one who has been called a "national treasure," is that there are very few who can tell me what I may and may not write."
In the preface of the book, we find out exaclty who the main character/narrator is: a famous Victorian-era woman and accomplished dragon scholar, who's too old to care about being a 'proper lady' anymore. What's more, she's writing a series of memoirs about her life to satisfy the many adoring fans who have been writing her letters in hopes of hearing about the juicy gossip of her famous expeditions.
The narration oozes with personality from the very beginning, and that's before we even get to meet any dragons. Following this introduction, we get to see where her passion for dragon studies began: collecting little dragon "sparklings" as a kid. While her fictional readers would know these little creatures as commonplace in her world, the actual readers don't, since this world is as new to us as it was to her as a child. As such, the reader gets to share in her childlike wonder, and gets excited by the promise to discover the secrets of dragons right along with her.

Things to keep in mind while writing a south asian character-
Tumblr media
(Since I'm a mixed south-north indian and a hindu-sikh I've mainly included details about indian-hindu characters(ill try to include more abt sikh characters aswell)tho ive tried to include as much info as I can abt other south asian countries aswell !also ,if you want, feel free to add more details in :)
And please forgive my grammar in some of these places XD
1.The most common one,of course being that south asia is not all india.countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri lanka,Bhutan etc exist to.
2.Religion tends to be a big part of many south asian people’s lives , and If not a big part of their life, than most south asians are atleast religious in one way or the other.Different religions are in majority in different regions of south asia. For example,Sri lanka is majority buddhist, mainly in the sinhalese majority while the tamil minority there is majority hindu. But it's more than valid if ur character is atheist to tho!
3.For indian characters specifically ,it's is important to know what state they are from and that state’s culture . For example, most (or almost all)tamil characters won't wear a salwar kameez.(if they do then mostly muslim tamils)(reminder;I'm talking about traditional wear. Yes a lot of Tamil's could wear a salwar kameez if they want but it is not the traditional dress of tamil nadu)
4.India itself is very diverse,so don't make every character hindu.in some regions one religion is more in the majority than the others. If you decide to make a christian-indian character ,than they usually are from south-west india and north-east india.
5.If you decide to make a hindu-indian character as maybe a marvel/dc oc or something , its best to do some research on hindu stories and history.trust me,it helps alot. If not a hindu character than do research on the folk tales of that characters region,as that can help to.
6.NOT EVERY INDIAN SPEAKS HINDI.INDIAN/HINDU ARE NOT LANGUAGES.istg please . All it takes is one search of your characters state and the states description almost always mentions the state’s official language.while some character from non Hindi speaking areas of the country, for example a malyalee person could know how to speak hindi (most probably by living somewhere like delhi),they would still talk in malayalam with family and stuff . Also a pakistani character and Hindi speaking indian can almost always communicate easily since since the most spoken language in Pakistan,Urdu is very similar to Hindi in sound(also a lot of indians, specifically muslim indian’s have urdu as their first language.)Also punjabi Pakistani's and Indian's don't have any problem in communication(the script they write punjabi in is different tho)Also since a lot of people from the north had their ancestors migrate from pakistan to india during partition regional languages of Pakistan such as sindhi, multani, balochi etc can be understood by some people of such descent living in India. And a bengali speaking indian and a Bangladeshi can communicate just as well.Nepali speaking indians and Nepali people can also communicate with each other. But when it comes to Sri Lankan tamil people their dialect is different than the one of indian tamilians,so their tamil is better understood by malyalees, but they can still communicate well enough with each other.afghan people speak pashto and dari.pashto is also understood by a small amount of ethnic pashtuns who live throughout the sub continent.People from the Maldives speak the language of dhivehi.
7.Indians overall have many festivals that all people of usually a certain community celebrate regardless of religion, caste, etc. For example ,the people in kerela celebrate onam.Infact in alot of the state’s people from a specific region have their on festivities.
8.Physical features vary from area to area of South Asia.So there is no definite“south asian“look.
9.Sikh’s don’t cut their hair , that’s why most Sikh women have long hair and most Sikh men wear turbans. Although some do, like my uncle from my mom’s side and my mom herself and etc. Though socially it's more acceptable for a sikh woman to cut her hair then a sikh man. But a load of times sikh immigrants do have to sadly cut their hair and take off their turbans in order to get jobs and all.
10.-And Hindu’s don’t eat beef. Most Sikh’s and overall all Indians tend to avoid beef to.a lot of Hindus are vegetarians due to religious beliefs. Tho mallus and some people from the north east for example usualy do eat beef(mainly the non hindus)
11.-For characters specially from south india(that to mainly kerala and tamil Nadu) the naming tradition that is used most commonly is that the child and wife use the father’s name as their last name. Though I've noticed that outside of their states atleast they tend to use their family names, but very rarely caste names.
12.- Believe it or not, in a show( I'm not sure about the name) a pakistani character had the name“shiv reddy“.pissed me of sm.yes pakistani hindus exist but if I havent already mentioned before,CERTAIN LAST NAMES BELONG TO CERTAIN AREAS. Reddy is an indian telugu hindu last name.please do your research.
13.-This applies to a good amount of north indians and just overall non south indians.south india is not one state.madras was the OLD name for Chennai, which is just one CITY in one state of south india. There are 5 states,6(and more) languages spoken. Please do not confuse those cultures.
14.-As for a good amount of non punjabis...please.punjabis are not all “balle-balle“ sikh people.please. And they're not all angry people looking for a fight either.
15.-Talking abt north india,I need to mention bollywood and how they stereotype.bombay aka the film city is in Maharashtra.yet they still stereotype Maharashtrians as poor people.gujjus are always the rich snobbish ppl.bengali ppl are sweet shy people and nepali people are Chinese. Goans are always english speaking drunkards or high attitude aunties.rajasthanis all have a heavy accent and are royalty and Uttar pradeshis-biharis are poor illiterate people. PLEASE STOP WITH THIS STEREOTYPICAL BULLSHIT ISTG. See,stereotypes exist because they are true, but only a part of the truth and over exaggerated asf.
16.-India does have a poverty issue but we are far from a third world country.most indians are middle class, that to is split in between lower middle class, middle middle class and upper middle class.and until or unless you live in a rural area casteism really isn't a problem.but remember, while casteism is illegal in indian law,it still affects people.it’s just a little less prevelant in big cities. While india is the farthest ahead in south asia atleast the rest of the countries are doing well for themselves as well.
17.-hindu culture specifically has so much lgbtqia+ stuff in it.but the fucking brit’s and Mughals ruined it. The only transgender festival of Asia is held in tamil nadu.seriously, I advise you do research of your own on it and you'll love it to!♥️
18.-Btw, hindi is a language, hindu religion. (had to add this again)Your character prolly from some place like madhya pradesh, bihar,Uttar pradesh,Delhi, uttarakhand or himachal pradesh if they are hindi speaking. Some people have the same confusion with malayalam. Malayalam is a language, malyalee’s are the people who speak it or at from kerala.
19.-talking about food.curry is a wide ass term.wdym by curry?fish curry, mutton curry or is it paneer curry?is it more creamy or not?do you eat it by itself, with rice,a paratha/parotta or all?like seriously stop with “curry“ ITS ANNOYINGGG.again food varries alot area by area.even in a specific area food varries. For example,Kerala-Tamil nadu sambar is damn spicy but sambar from karnataka and telugu states tends to be sweeter.also food from Karnataka is much milder in spice then food from Andhra, but still capable of burning the mouths of most non south asians 😍😘🥰.also,we tend to eat most of our food with hands(THE best way.)famous delicacies vary from country to country in south asia and area to area of india btw. And our food is not ’smelly’, it's FRAGRANT.
20.ok so ive in total had 2 specific segments dedicated to language and this is the third one.India, while having only 22 offical languages(again;i remind you,we do not have a national language)actually has like thousands of languages. Native people from even just one state can have different mother tongues(for example-three people who were born and raised in karnataka and have families that are native to the state could have the languages of kannada, tulu and kodava as their mother tongues). And again, dialects also differ. For example,Bombay hindi and the hindi of a person from Uttarakhand would be different, and so would Bangalore tamil and a Madurai native’s tamil. Also, let’s say a telugu person has been living in mumbai for a while, very rarely will they ever have an ’accent’ while speaking hindi or english.
21.so above i mentioned that alot of people from the north have had ancestors move in from pakistan during the partition(and vice versa for some Pakistani's).Similarly,a good amount of people from west bengal had their ancestors move in from bangladesh(and vice versa again, but unlike the north india-pakistan thing indian bong’s and bangladeshi people don’t exactly have that ’divide’).Adding this in specifically not only because of how important this is but it can give more depth to your characters if they are from any of these areas.
22.Every state has different art forms.be it dance, music or just art, every state has it different.India has 8 classical dances(bharatanatyam, kuchipudi, mohiniyattam, kathakali, oddisi, kathak, manipuri and sattriya) and has countless many more.Music also varies and so does art as i said above.
23.our culture is super feminist but fucked by the brits and mughals again. We had so many queens and princesses that fought wars and also many female warriors. In the ancient times women only wore single drape saris and didn’t cover their breasts because they were not seen as sexual, but infact as a sign of motherhood(and there forth strength). If they were covered,it was for support.
24.Most people know atleast 3+ languages and almost everyone knows 2 at the very least. Sometimes they can even understand(which can range from basic to great) some other languages. For eg.- my dad can speak english, hindi, telugu, konkani, tulu, punjabi, urdu and multani+ he can understand malayalam, kannada, sindhi and tamil well enough.
That's it(for now):) hope this can help.feel free to ask questions!+random songs from my playlist✨✨✨
(ps,check this post of mine out cause y not lol)

I’ve seen that image of a small pride of lions in the snow before and I could have sworn it takes place in South Africa, not India (it does snow there occasionally). Are you sure those are Asiatic lions?
Oh, your ask made me go and recheck where I saved the image from and it turns out it didn’t come from where I thought it did alright! Whenever I add an image of my own to a reblog or post, I always choose them based on two criteria: the species of the animal pictured has to either be VERY clearly identifiable or, if I can’t get a hold of something clear enough, I go for pictures from scientific publications or zoos, that, by definition, have to be correctly labeled. For this post, I was after pictures of the lions they have in the Zoo Zürich, that’s famous for their social media pictures of their lions playing on the snow and only houses Panthera leo leo.
Unfortunately, it seems I wasn’t paying enough attention when browsing the image search results and, tracing my steps back, I ended up saving a picture that didn’t come from Zoo Zürich at all, but rather from… Pinterest 😑 I usually do my best to avoid it because Pinterest is notoriously broken when it comes to linking properly to the websites where the pictures saved there are found, and this one is no exception. It’s completely absent from the “source” provided by Pinterest.
So… given that it came from an unknown source and that the most reliable trait to identify whether the lions pictured in it are P. l. melanochaita or P. l. leo (P. l. leo have a loose flap of skin on their bellies and P. l. melanochaita do not) is entirely obscured due to the angle, this image doesn’t make the cut to be used here at all!
Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention! I’ll be more careful in the future and replace it with something more appropriate. Better yet! I’ll get pictures of both P. l. melanochaita and P. l. leo in their winter coats, so you guys will be able to see how their differ from each other!

I want to ask you this cause it seems like you’re the lyric person here in the fandom. I was listening to Paul’s ‘driving rain’ album and I just wanted your opinion on it Mclennon wise. Lonely road I’m sure is a definite Mclennon song with lyrics like
“tried to get over you
I tried to find
something new
But all I could ever do
was fill my time
With thoughts of you
I tried to go
somewhere old
To search for my pot of gold”
aka that dream that John and Paul both shared when they were younger about them finding gold in the dirt or something. But what I want to really know is about ‘riding into Jaipur’. It just feels Mclennon to me? And I did some research and found out that Paul recorded ‘lonely road’ and ‘riding into Jaipur’ On the same day…. Thoughts ? ( sorry I hope this all came out clear English is not my first language)
Hey Anon,
thank you for your message! I am also a Mclennon-newbie and in no way an expert (having only read 3 books so far because of laziness lol). I hope I will make sense with this. Feel free to correct me or add any additions @/everyone.

"Driving Rain" being the album title song, is probably the theme of the album, the song suggests that Paul's mental health has been dwindling. I guess due to Linda's death in 1998 at the same time, George Harrison had been struggling with his health around the same time this album is being created. So those are probably triggers.
Letting sunshine in the darkest places When I've been going there again
I think John's influence and memories will always be a huge thing in Paul's songwriting.
Here are my thoughts on the songs you mentioned:
Lonely Road Paul himself said that pot of gold was used to just rhyme with old and that it is half imagination/half reality. "He does not need gold anymore". But I think gold is more of a metaphor for "love" in this sense.
"I hear your music and it's driving me wild Familiar rhythms in a different style I hear your music and it's driving me wild again"
"Paul went into his past". Especially this latter part sounds like something he is saying to John. I guess even listening to new music makes him think of John. It was their thing to listen to LPs, so that's just intensely sad.
Riding to Jaipur According to Paul this song was not written in India but during his vacation with Linda in Maldives. (Though Paul had visited Jaipur in 2001).
Weirdly enough, Jaipur is called the Paris of India. Connecting these two places of significance to the Beatles. This might actually be a Beatles dedicated song.
The guitar he used sounds like a sitar and that's George's thing and then Jaipur being the Paris of India would connect it to John.

When Helaena informed you that she and her brothers had been planning to visit India, you were over the moon with joy. You animatedly told your mom, who offered that they could stay over the boys could crash in one room and Helaena could crash with you. Since Aegon was also coming with them, you refused, saying that they were ultra rich and maybe they wouldn’t like staying in your humble house - which was also partly true. And they were arriving today, in a couple of hours.
You dab the blush onto your cheek, getting ready for a family friend’s wedding. You asked your parents to stop by the hotel they were staying in for a short while before heading over to the wedding, and here you were trying to get your eyeliner right because how could you not be extra at a desi wedding?
Helaena had already landed by the time you left your house in a rush, not attempting to style the dupatta with the black sequined lehenga that you wore. The blouse was short, stopping a little below your boobs in a tube-top-esque fashion and long heavy matching skirt. Your jewellery was of fine white gold and long stone earrings. You even wore a silvery bun cuff on your effortlessly-messy updo.
Your parents waited for you outside of the extravagant hotel as you searched for any platinum blond hair. The silver bangles on your wrist clink as you lift your skirt a little to run to the reception, asking about Helaena. You were out-of-place here in the rich-people place, but presently you didn’t give a fuck.
The receptionist gives you a once over, but is polite enough to guide you to the second floor on the left section. Rooms 2L09-2L12. The cost of one room would be more than the rent of houses out there, you think as you step out of the lift. The floor is polished marble so smooth that you can see yourself reflected.
To your luck, you spotted Aemond first, standing on a fork to your left, and rushed your heart beating in your chest. But Helaena stepped out of the fork too, speaking with the bellboy and you called her name. The siblings turned at the sound of your voice, eyes wide as they took in your appearance.
You run into Helaena’s open arms and squeeze her. You couldn’t believe that they were right here in the flesh. “Gods, I am so happy to see you!” you squealed. She is dressed in a comfortable yellow tee and shorts, looking very tired but happy.
“Me too!” Helaena said, stepping away. Seemingly had enough of close contact for a month. “You look…”
“Magnificent, per usual.” A smooth voice adds, making you look at the polished marble. “Hi,” he says again, the sound of your name on his tongue sickly sweet. You want to hug him too, but don’t think it would be appropriate in front of his sister.
“Hi, Aemond,” you said, finally finding the courage to look up at him. Today, he’s dressed in a black polo shirt tucked in his khaki trousers. No less formal than the turtleneck and suit you had seen him the other time. His silver hair is half up in a little ponytail. An image of rubbing yourself against him, but force it away.
“Come in,” Helaena holds your wrist and drags you into her suite. “Aemond, you can join us too, just sort that out.”
A ghost of a smile graces Aemond’s features, his one eye half closed. As you entered the magnificent suite. You repeatedly told yourself to not stare. This one suite was bigger than your whole house. And from what you could tell, this was for Helaena alone. It’s good that I didn’t invite them over. “Where are you headed to after this?” Helaena asks, not-so-discreetly eyeing you.
“Oh, a wedding.” You say. “The son of my father’s colleague is getting married.”
“You look like you’ll outshine the bride.” Helaena says.
“Not a chance,” you say. “Honey, there’s no way you can outshine a desi bride, on her own wedding of all places. If it was one of my cousins getting married, I’d have taken you. You should see at least one desi wedding.”
“I’ll be certain to attend yours,” Helaena teases with a suggestive glint in her eyes.
“Of course,” You grin, not giving into her teasing antics. “I wouldn’t dream of getting married in your absence,”
“Helaena, where is Aeg- ” A voice that you don’t recognise calls, stopping at the sight of you. “Sorry, I didn’t know you were expecting company.”
“Hello,” you say, looking at the young boy with the signature Targaryen silver hair and purple eyes. He holds a certain innocence and self-confidence and you want to smother him with affection like one of your little cousins. “You must be Daeron,”
“Yeah, wow.” He says, as if he is struggling to find words. “Hi. You must be Y/N.”
You smile, stifling a laugh, but Helaena full on bursts out laughing. “Not you too, Daeron. Didn’t you want to ask her about computer science?”
“Oh yeah, yeah.” Daeron shakes his head, and composes himself. “Hello Y/N, it is great to meet you. People have told me to come talk to you about Computer Science. You seem like the best one out there.”
“That is a big fat lie,” You say. “But I can try to help you with anything. Tell me, what grade are you in?”
“Eleventh Grade, starting after the holidays.” He proudly says. “I still have to fill out my forms though.”
“You can talk later about the boring stuff,” Helaena says. “Come Y/N, tell me what have you been up to? You looked so lovely in the pictures you posted last night.”
“Nothing, actually. I was at home getting bored so I dressed up.” You tell her. “Also, I am currently in a time crunch and have only fifteen minutes before my parents start getting angry at me. We have to be there early so we can leave early.”
“Oh, that’s sad.” Helaena sighs. “I thought you could stay over for tonight, with me. It would be so much fun!”
“I’ll ask my mom about that,” you say, grinning awkwardly.
“Daeron, take some good pictures of us,” Helaena orders her littlest brother, handing out her phone. “If they are not good, I’ll beat your arse.”
Aemond is running up the stairs as fast as his long legs can to get some time to meet you. He knows you are in a rush and doesn’t want to make you wait, but you are already leaving Helaena’s room and waving her bye as he reaches the fork end. Daeron’s little head peeks out from Helaena’s suite, all shy waving at you. You flash his siblings your beautiful smile and turn, finally facing him.
An endearing blush dusts your cheeks as you spot him, smiling coyly.
“Hello again,” you say. “We didn’t get to speak at all.”
“Let me walk you out,” He offers, eager to spend any moment with you even though he is exhausted. To his eye, you are a glowing goddess, he wants to whisper sweet nothings in your ears, tell you how divine he thinks you are, but he holds back.
“What a gentleman,” you say, “Your mum would be so proud,”
“That’s the goal,” he chuckles softly. “So… you’d remember that I told you Professor Leyland assigned me Indian History as my project topic for this year, do you have any suggestions for a suitable location?”
“Well… it depends on what period of history you want to study.” You explain. “If you are more interested in the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire, Delhi and Agra would be good places to start. If you want to go back and study ancient civilisation, southern parts of India are favourable. I’d personally like you to go to Jaipur - it has a blend of both the rajput and mughal styles and a widely accessible resource base for your project work. Also, I have never been to Jaipur myself and would love to travel with you.” you winked at him towards the end, earning an endearing blush.
“Well, I must visit Jaipur then,” Aemond says, bumping into your shoulder lightly. “If such pleasant company awaits me,”
You were back at the reception now and hugged Aemond quickly before you left, smiling at him over your shoulder. He stands there, a rare blush colouring his pale cheeks crimson. She smells like the best fruits, he thought.
“Did you have a good time?” Daeron asks, winking as Aemond returned.
“Peachy,” Aemond quips, sitting down. He cannot stop smiling, still feeling the remnants of the hug.
“I didn’t think she’d be that beautiful.” Daeron sighs. “I forgot how to speak! Helaena, her pictures don’t do her beauty any justice.”
“Hey folks, what’s going on?” Aegon asks, leaning on the bathroom’s door frame. “I heard your little girlfriend came to see you, Aemond. You speak with her? You’re positively glowing.”
“Oh shut up, Aegon.” Aemond sighs, leaning back against the couch. “You got the pool view room now, did you not? Stop spoiling my mood.”
“The glow of a person in love!” Aegon says in a sing-song voice, swaying like a madman. Daeron joins him too, singing along with him. “The glow of love suits my brother so well. I’m in love - the beautiful, intelligent y/n - has stolen my precious heart and I cannot live without - ”
“Don’t you have anything else to do?” Aemond sighs, accepting defeat. He rubs his cold hands over his face in a weak attempt to gain some composure. “Must you torture me like this?”
“I am sure he is not in love yet,” Helaena muses, suggestively looking at them. “He’s not yet seen her play chess… Or the game that she designed.”
“She designed a chess game?!” the three brothers said simultaneously, incredulous.
“It’s a work in progress,” Helaena giggles, looking at their wide eyes. To Aemond she says, “Are you in love now, little brother?”
“I just might be,” He sighs again, falling on the couch. “My sweet Y/N.”
“The glow of a person in love,” all his three siblings repeated in that sing-song voice he loved to loathe. “Someone is falling in love,”
“I hate my life,” he muttered. I love these little shitheads, but I could also kill them.
.
It is now a good four days later that you stand in Helaena’s suite in the extravagant hotel, as she packs the last moment travel supplies - pads, tampons and a whole lot of paper towels and paper soap. You have your own bags ready for the trip - you suggested renting a car for the trip so it would be safer and easier to travel, the distance wasn’t too much and you’d be able to reach the hotel at nearly the same time. Also it was cheaper and you could carry more luggage.
You were surprised that your parents allowed you to go, but then again you were living half-way across the world most of the time, they probably trusted you.
Aemond is helping Aegon pack up, and Daeron sits on the couch outside Helaena’s bedroom, scrolling through his phone. Then in a rush all of you are ready and sitting at the reception with five minutes to spare. Aemond is doing one final check, listing items with the potential to be forgotten - chargers, earphones, phones, notebooks, pens, camera, soap, sanitizer, water bottles, map, google translate, watch, hair ties, comb, skin and hair care pouch, brushes, toothpaste and Aegon.
“You’re such a dad,” you commented, chuckling.
His pale cheeks turn a beautiful crimson at your chuckle as his siblings also joined in with their snickers. “Well, someone has to be the responsible adult here.” He says in defence. “Daeron is too young, Helaena is probably watching bug videos on her phone, worry isn’t a good look on you and… Aegon.”
“What did I even do?” Aegon puts his hand over his heart, feigning hurt. “I don’t do anything and he still treats me like this, you see, Y/N?”
“That is the problem, Aegon,” Aemond sighs. “Anyways. Do we have everything?”
“Yes, Dad,” Daeron exasperatedly sighs.
The drive to Jaipur was relatively peaceful, the siblings keeping their fights to a minimum. And you got to sit between Helaena and Aemond, gladly leaning in to his chest as you lazily spoke with Helaena. His large hand is on your knee, gently caressing and comforting. He’s so warm - it would be so easy to let everything go and just fall asleep on this human heater.
“Y/N!” Daeron yelled from the front seat. “Helaena told us that you are building a chess game! Tell us about it. What did you use?”
“Oh, just Unity and C#,” you say. At Aegon and Aemond’s confused expressions, you add, “Unity is a game development software. Anywho - it’s not ready to be used yet. There’s many errors and my chess proficiency seems to end there.”
“I am certain Aemond can assist you with that,” Aegon said, sitting in the back seat. “He’s quite the chess prodigy himself.”
“I have never beat him, not even when he was drunk.” Daeron adds.
“Are you?” You cock an eyebrow at Aemond looking up at the rare, easy smile on his face. “I could certainly use that skill set,”
“I’ll be glad to help you,” Aemond says. His heart thumps a little faster under your ear and you can’t help but smile. It was so easy falling into this routine.
.
They had arranged for the stay in another extravagant hotel - it had everything that you could imagine. The toiletries there were more expensive than your entire closet, you were certain of that. Even after your insistence that you get a normal room and not a suite - it cost like your monthly expenditure in King’s Landing - the Targaryen siblings booked you your own suite reassuring you that it wasn’t much. Each time you think that you understand just how filthy rich they are, they pull a tactic like this and it turns out they are even richer. Surely not all of their money was legal, was it?
You spent three days in the Pink City, visiting the Hawa Mahal, the City Palace and a one-day long trip to Amber Palace. Aemond was deeply interested in the history of each place and took down notes, asking you to translate whatever he couldn’t understand. He asked the local guides who were more than eager to explain the old tales to him - now that their pocket was full - and Aemond noted every last word that they said. You took the liberty and recorded the guide, knowing it would certainly be helpful in the future.
And you took a lot of pictures - so many with Helaena, Aemond, Daeron and even Aegon, who was a lot nicer when not inebriated. Your gallery was full of the targaryen siblings now - most occurring of them being Aemond. You loved your bug girl to death, but the way Aemond made your mind and body react was totally different. When sharing time came, you only shared a few of the shots that you had taken - you didn’t want to seem too weird with copious amounts of pictures that you had of him.
The high walls of Amer Kila and the gorgeous ceilings on the homely interior were in stark contrast to the intimidating stone walls on the outside. You were positively exhausted by walking all day, admiring the centuries old work visiting each room that you were permitted to see. Aemond takes so many pictures - of each room, of you in there, of his siblings - and you secretly click a picture of him. You think it’s endearing how invested he is in the history of this palace, how his one keen eye wanders about the room, drinking in every detail
You think then, he would have been too perfect, so the gods took his eye. It doesn’t matter that to you he is still a divine beauty, a fallen angel - something seraphic about his lilac eye and the sapphire in the other, to the world and himself he is imperfect because he is missing an eye.
It is way past midnight when you return to Jaipur. You bid everyone goodnight, but linger with Aemond, not giving a fuck about the cleaning lady of the corridor. You are sure that this isn’t the first late-night rendezvous she is witnessing.
Aemond’s good eye scans the hallway, gently wrapping his hand around your wrist as he pulls you to his suite and you stand there in the middle of the massive room with dimmed lights, looking at his ethereal face, admiring the way the Gods have chiselled him - you can tell they took their time crafting this fine specimen of the male species - and you don't hold yourself back as you rise to your toes. Don’t attempt to pull back as he leans down to you, don’t pull back when his warm breath hits your face.
You think he smells like the chocolate he had been sharing with you in the car as his lips are a hair’s breadth away from yours, and wonder if your mouth smells like that.
You don’t stop him when he brings his hands to the sides of your face, holding you delicately as if you are made of glass. You melt when his warm, sweet mouth collides with yours - you think you are dead and in heaven, or in a daze. Your hands grip at his narrow waist, holding him like he is the only person in the world, the only connection that you have to reality.
You pulled back for a breath, and then a switch seemed to have snapped in place as your mouths collided again - much harsher, tongues fighting and teeth clashing as you were desperate to taste more of him - his beautiful mouth tasting of the chocolate that you had just eaten. You are standing on his feet, his hands now on your waist and yours in his silken hair, tugging at it and he lets out a moan.
Aemond is snapped off his daze by his own moan, and he rests his forehead against yours, panting. “This was the best fucking kiss of my life,” he mutters on your lips.
“Mine too,” you breathe against him. “You’re the best kiss of my life, Aemond.”
The sound of your name on his smooth tongue and breathy voice is enough to send shocks of arousal through your veins, but the both of you hold back, too exhausted from the day and too wrapped up in the feel of each other’s mouth.
“I want to be yours,” Aemond whispers. “Will you accept me as yours?”
“Only if you take me to be yours,” you say with a smile.
You try to kiss once more, only to be interrupted by your own giggles. “You’re the prettiest little creature I have ever met,” he confesses.
“Right back at you,” you say, smiling widely. “The prettiest among men,”
“Will you stay here tonight?” He asks, voice small, hesitant. “I just want to sleep beside you.”
“Grab your change of clothes and let’s go to my room.” you whisper-giggle. “Wouldn’t want your siblings and my best friend to think we’re up to no good,”
He doesn’t let you go as he lets out a satisfied hum, gently swaying you both.

getting to know you meme
tagged by @aragarna -- thanks!
Tag someone you want to know better!
Favorite color: I'm in a purple and green phase now -- inspired by lavender fields. I even painted my walls a soft lilac. Next will probably be ocean blues and greens
Last song: Can't Stop the Feeling -- I have an idea for a Murderbot story and for inspiration I went searching for "stormtroopers dancing" videos and that's where I landed
Last movie: Red, White & Royal Blue as the most recent, and Barbie as the most recent in a movie theater. I'd recommend both of them. Barbie kind of blew my mind -- I want to write fic for it, and I also feel like I need to watch it at least once more to even begin to do it justice. And just for fun, I'll add in Sherwood, as the last live play I saw -- lots of swashbuckling that's waiting to find its way into a fic
Currently watching: Very little, at the moment. I cut back recently on streaming to make more time for writing & reading. @edupunkn00b introduced me to the Sanders Sides videos, and I'm about half-way through those
Other stuff I watched this year: Good Omens S2, Syfy's The Ark, Quantum Leap reboot, The Winchesters, The Traitors, and a cooking show called Fast Foodies.
Shows I dropped this year/didn’t finish: The Company You Keep. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't what I was in the mood to watch
Currently reading: The Secret Service of Tea and Treason by India Holton and the Tinkered Stars series by Gail Carriger
Currently listening to: See currently reading. I'm really into audiobooks these days. Also the sleep stories on the Calm app have become part of my nightly routine to unwind.
Currently working on: So many things! Short fics across many fandoms for Flufftober, a longer fic for the White Collar fandom inspired by Oceans 8, and then it's back to a reworking of a novel I wrote -- I intend to split it into a series of short stories
Current obsession: White Collar has been going strong as an obsession for exactly ten years as of this month -- that's when I posted my first fanfic. Murderbot is creeping back in, with my excitement over the next book being available soon. And after reading one of the Toshikazu Kawaguchi's time travel stories, I've placed several more on hold -- this could certainly become an obsession for a while. Forecasting obsessions -- who knew?
Okay, who else wants to play? Consider yourself tagged. Especially if you're @edupunkn00b or @silbrith or @cultofsappho -- no pressure, but I'd love to hear your answers if you have the time

What is Numerology?
Numerology is a pretty old technique that uses numbers to assess the character and destiny of any given person. It can also be used to check the nature of a new pet, business, and anything else with a name and/or a start/birth date. This can also be paired with a simple form of astrology for more accurate predictions, or used on its own. A simple search on the Britannica website for ‘numerology’ will give you an extremely short article. But, I pulled the following quote from there: “The theory behind numerology is based on the Pythagorean idea that all things can be expressed in numerical terms because they are ultimately reducible to numbers.”
However, numerology was practiced in Ancient India (in the Vedas) and China (in the I Ching) which were, coincidentally, before Pythagoras/the Pythagorean Brotherhood’s time. But, since the way Pythagoras taught his method of using numerology seemed to have truly stuck with most other cultures around the world, this way of numerology is the most accessible. The ancient Greeks, Romans, and Hebrews also used number systems based on the letters of their alphabet; but the numbers we have today came from the Arabs.
Let’s get to the fun part!
How do I use Numerology?
So, Numerology in my opinion, is the absolute easiest form of divination. Just remember to take notes as you go, and you’ll be fine!
Or, you can reach out for help from someone you trust that knows numerology; or you can reach out to literally anyone on the internet willing to teach this, but be careful with that one… I believe knowledge should be free, but that’s not the case with a few other people, I’ve heard. So if they ask for a payment, make sure you’ve truly looked at their blog/page. If their vibe doesn’t sit right with you, don’t do it. Money can make good people funny. And not in a good way.
Okay! Let’s get back to this topic. How do I/you use numerology? Super easy. There are two SUPER common types of numbers, and they are usually the first thought in people’s head when they think about Numerology as a whole. They are the Destiny and Life Path numbers!
The difference between these numbers is that the Destiny number shows your life’s purpose and the pattern by which you’ll achieve that, and the Life’s Path number is usually used to make forecasts about one's future.
I’ll make a separate post on what the numbers 1—9 mean, because that’s what we’re going to be working with for right now; but in the meantime, let me explain what you’ll need to figure out your numbers!!
Materials:
Your Full Name
Your Date of Birth
Pen/pencil
Paper
Calculator (optional)
It’s not a super complex mathematical formula that we’ll be using, just some basic addition!
Also!! If you are transgender, or nonbinary; or you’ve changed your name for any reason—PLEASE use the name YOU HAVE CHOSEN for yourself! If you’re comfortable with it too, you can also use the old/dead name to compare the potential outcomes of your life! If you’re not too comfortable with that, don’t sweat it!
Okay, so you’ve got your materials; cool beans, now what? You’re now going to assign the letters of the alphabet numbers!
Instructions:
Write the numbers 1—9 across the width of the paper. So you’re going to write out:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9, making sure they’re spaced out enough to write in columns beneath them and not have things overlapping. For ease of reading!
Put the letters beneath the numbers in the order I have listed:
A,J,S under 1.
B,K,T under 2
C,L,U under 3
D,M,V under 4
E,N,V under 5
F,O,X under 6
G,P,Y under 7
H,Q,Z under 8
I,R under 9.
Now, spell out your FULL NAME!! 1st, middle (if you have it), last and anything after that! You’re now going to add up the numbers! I like to keep my number in three separate rows, so my first name has one, middle the second, and last the third line.. Just for the sake of keeping things readable/not too overwhelming.
My numbers, just because I don’t want to give my full name out on the internet; are:
24, 29, 29. But! We need one number between 1 and 9. If you do 24+29(2)=82, you can then simplify my numbers to: 8+2=10, 1+0=1.
What we did here was we found our Destiny number. Pretty neat right?
Let’s do our life path number as well.
Get your birthday written out, it doesn't matter if you use the UK, US, or any other style of writing out dates, because they will always add up to the same number!
Mine is: 12/20/2003. I’ve got it pretty easy, because there’s a bunch of 0’s in mine and I’m working with small numbers.
1+2+2+0+2+0+0+3=10, 1+0=1. And BOOM! We have our life path number as well.
So, before this post gets crazy long; I hope you have a wonderful day, and I’ll be posting the meanings of the numbers 1—9 with three posts; because I have a lot to say! Bye!!

Imagine this
How Do You Sleep that
Have you considered the most interesting song on the Imagine album may be How?
George was right. The song deserves attention.
Tumblr search is zero help on this song because it only picks up How Do You Sleep. But has anyone ever written about it?
Given John’s “How? + Why?” response to Paul’s 12-page letter about dissolving the partnership, I think it’s worth looking at. That exchange is sometime in summer 1970.
Song Origins
The earliest version of How? is a home demo dated as late 1970. This demo only has the “we” part of the song:
How can we go forward When we don’t know which way we're facing? How can we go forward When we don’t know which way to turn? How can we be certain About something we’re not sure of? Oh, no, oh, no
In the final version, this part is the end of the song (the bolded words change slightly). This ending is a shift from the personal “I” used in the rest of the song. So he started with “we” in 1970 and then evolved it into more self-directed reflection over time.
The demo is very rough, he's still searching for the notes. But something about it made me think of Look At Me, which has a similar plaintive tone and features several existential questions to the listener (Who am I supposed to be? and Who are we?). Look at Me originates from India and has an earlier 1968 demo that captures a glimpse of John’s state of mind during this crucial time. The How? demo would be recorded around the same time John is revisiting Look At Me to record formally for the Plastic Ono Band album.
The added self-reflection verses continue the same format of existential questions, moving from feelings to love. It's a blatantly honest look at depression in the wake of a loss, which I think George would have noticed and in some sense seen himself in. It's unclear when these verses are added (John just says “last year” in 1971 for all the verses), but they are probably influenced by John's experience of undergoing Janov's primal scream therapy (April-September 1970?). Possibly the questions left unanswered at the end of those 6 months.
How can I have feeling when I don't know if it's a feeling?
How can I give love when I don't know what it is I'm giving?
All three verses include the idea of uncertainty (I don’t know), which could be its own essay on existentialism vs epistemology in the face of a destabilizing event. But for now, let’s focus on the emotional aspect. Here, two places ascribe blame to drive his uncertainty: his feelings have always been denied and love is something he never had. This seems to go a bit far, but remember depression is a liar and part of Janov's therapy was probably that John’s closest relationships had all been a lie.
John adds the middle eight during Imagine sessions. It balances the bleakness of depression with the will to live:
You know life can be long
And you got to be so strong
And the world is so tough
Sometimes I feel I've had enough
This middle eight repeats twice, and each time, the end fuses to the first word of the questioning verses, without the typical space of a few beats in between. This lack of space suggests a relationship, as if the questions are part of the fight to keep him going past the bleakness of feeling like giving up.
Its first recording is May 26, 1971, nine days after Ram is released. Take 31 and Take 40 (Raw Studio Mix) were released on the Ultimate release of the album but aren't too different from the final lyrics/melody wise.
Supposedly, another version of How? includes a question about home: “how can I go home when home is something I have never had” and it’s not clear which lines replace it. Perhaps “how can I give love when I don’t know what it is I’m giving?” Questions of home would be a result of Janov’s primal scream digging into his childhood and bringing forth old wounds. But in the absence of a physical home, it’s the people around you who become your home. This home line makes me think of that Get Back sessions moment, when John shares with Paul his excitement about getting Apple Studio functional and feeling like home. It's a picture of feelings being denied in action as Paul responds by changing the subject. For whatever reason, this home line gets cut by Take 31.
The placement of How? in the album tracklist is curious too, directly after the angry Paul-directed How Do You Sleep. Its title holds the same question but none of the anger. It’s like an echo of How Do You Sleep, informing the source of its anger and revealing what it masks: fear and indecision about the future.
Song Context
It’s interesting to place this song next to Ram, where the overwhelming theme is the exact opposite: grab life by the horns and move forward to find your own way. Ram sessions started in NYC in October 1970, around the same time as the How? demo. Each song, from Too Many People to Back Seat, reveals Paul’s mental exercise of extricating himself from his former life and moving on with his family in Scotland. Personally and professionally, Paul is building a new home away from John.
The final version of How? is produced more in the vein of The Long and Winding Road, the song at the nexus of the breakup. Its beginning is marked by the same distinct stop-start syncopated beat and the instrumentation builds across the song to make a bleak song more palatable. If Paul didn’t turn off the record the moment he heard John’s diss track, he would have almost certainly picked up How?’s link to TL&WR. That song being his own plaintive moment of fearing the future, considering life without the band that was his world. And the last straw when Spector remixed it without his approval.
In his April 1971 LIFE interview that precedes the Ram release, Paul shares a recent exchange between him and John. John recalls the infamous “bubble bursting” question, and Paul corrects him in the past tense: the bubble has already burst. This is one of several exchanges where Paul’s saying catch up, it’s done, let me go and John’s saying what does that even mean?!
Hearing Paul’s declaration of independence on Ram made John angry. He calls How Do You Sleep “an outburst” in response to Ram and not reflective of how he thinks of Paul all the time. But Ram also gave him a direction forward that McCartney did not. If John thought the album had messages to taunt him, he almost certainly heard the taunt in Monkberry Moon Delight:
Catch up! Cats and kittens Don’t get left behind
I don’t know about you, but hearing that taunt from my ex-partner/BFF/lover/whatever would certainly make me angry, hot enough to ignite my competitive streak and get to work.
It reminds me of the moment Fred Seaman recalls in 1980, when John hears Paul's Coming Up:
Tumblr media
John told me that Paul was the only musician who could scare him into writing great songs, and vice versa.
Imagine is hardly my favorite John solo album. I'm not about to dismiss the terrible things John said about Paul or Ram or forget how the bad press buried the album for years. But I think in focusing on the anger, we can miss the simple fact that Ram inspiring John to write anything was actually the biggest compliment he could give. Sometimes, anger is the only fuel available to drive you forward, where anything is preferable to nothing. It’s not ideal or fair, and it’s up to you to pick up the mess of your storm later, but it’s something. Like a basic survival instinct kicking in in the midst of drowning. Any fight that pushing you back to the surface is preferable over laying down and dying.
In that way, I think John was being honest when he later admitted that How Do You Sleep was about himself. Not in the exact lines specific to Paul but in the action, to write (or accept), record, and release them. How? as an echo to this anger shows the before and after, how John used Paul as a punching bag in response. That action was all about John himself.

Hi, do you have any youtube channels recommendations to learn hindi that are not hindi pod 101?
Thanks.
Unfortunately, I don't use Youtube to watch language educational videos, but I find it helpful to watch videos on things that interest me in my TL. So you can search for any topic actually and add "in Hindi" or whichever language to your search.
These are some of my favourite channels to watch content in Hindi, some have subtitles, and some use more Hinglish than others so you can start watching even from the beginner level.
Travel Blog
News and current events
Fashion and style
*Not all videos in G3Fashion are in Hindi, look for the ones with "in HINDI" in the title.
Cooking and recipes
Stand up comedy
I realise this is not very helpful if you are not into similar things as I am but I hope to inspire you to do a little search around on YT and find the channels that interest you!
