I'm at the point in my life where doing ADHD side quests has made me forget what my main quest was?? Create art? Make money? Build a farm? World domination? Fuck if I know

Autistic, ADHDers, and AuDhHDers. Which are you and what's it like when people have the same name? For example, if you knew 2 David's, how would your brain react. Would you get them confused? Would you create different nicknames? Are you great at telling them apart? Just wondering. Thanks!

Genuine question to people with adhd/autism/characters and fandoms obsessions - what are you doing when many thoughts of many characters and scenarios completely fill your brain to the point of inability to complete simple everyday tasks due to overstimulation? How to stop it if its going inside the brain and always stays with you all the time you're awake?

Honestly guys finally gonna say it:
I've been questioning for a very very long time that I have AUDHD (aka Autism and ADHD) since I feel like Ive been finding myself relating to a lot of ADHD/AUDHD posts on here and ADHD/ADHD coded characters
This started cuz I've been watching Athena P a lot for the past year or so and one of her quotes about the fact she hates being bored cuz of her ADHD made me go "...oh shit I relate to that tf"???
Plus it doesn't help that I was really close with my Grandma (from my Dad's Side) to the point where she feels more like a Mom to me than my Real Mom) had ADHD as well....
If y'all can tell me what tf is happening here is AUDHD (in my case Diagnosed Autism combined with Undiagnosed ADHD) or if it's just my Autism manifesting itself in a different way?? Please and thank you!!

Question for the ADHD folk cause I might have undiagnosed ADHD.
Does y'all's brains ever...skip text? Like, a lot? So much so that 80% of what you're reading is your brain filling in the gaps between what you actually read? Please tell me I'm not the only one. PLEASE.

Oh! I have a question to ADHD and adjacent folks!
I was recently diagnosed and got suggested to work on myself outside of medication (which changed my life, ffs). I did some meditating and it might be for me but I want to see if the guided meditation once a while is also good.
Does anybody have a good guided mindfulness meditation video/audio to recommend?

Fellow ADHD peeps.
Do y’all read more than one book at a time so when you lose interest you have a back up book to cover that?
Or is that just me?

Question for people with adhd is it normal for you to be able to focus on a task better (like school) if you have music on in the background?
Like I find the silence is too distracting for some reason. It makes it harder to focus
but at the same time I might get distracted by the lyrics so I just have one song on repeat to make it background noise

Can a hyperfixation last for like 9ish years? Is that normal? Have other people experienced this? Asking for a friend.

hey, slightly serious question here.
what do people do when they have things they really need to get done by a certain point, and even on the day of the deadline, it's just getting Stuck in your brain?
working on some take home finals, and i'm really struggling with executive function.

So, I went to go talk to a “prescriber” yesterday about adhd medication, but the lady who spoke to me was condescending, infantilizing and don’t think she knew what she was doing? (when asked her about food to avoid with adhd meds, she said “oh, I don’t know anything about that. I can check online, though.” o-0 concerning) anyway, when talking lady was pushy for me to go on a lisdexamfetamine when I just wanted the concerta, but she kept mentioning that some people find adhd medication “changes” them and they find the change hard to deal with, sometimes they take different type of adhd medication that helps get everything done in morning that need to be done but then can feel more like themself in the evening? So I needed to be careful, and to watch how the medication makes me feel as a person.
Is this a bad thing to say? Never heard about adhd medication changing a person… Is it true? I’m lost, don’t know why she kept saying it

Adhd folk, did you struggle with basic hygiene tasks like showering your whole life bc you could have always be doing something more interesting? Or did anyone else with a different condition experience this? Could this be a part of executive dysfunction or not?

Question for people with ADHD, I saw someone talking about the phenomenon they experienced due to their ADHD of over sharing with strangers about personal things, details of your life, etc, feeling shame or annoyance over it and saying you won't do it again only to immediately do it again when the situation arises. Is this a known and/or common thing people with ADHD experience?

Genuine question, is it possible to be understimulated without it being bad? Like it’s just kinda there and if it got worse it would be bad but it isn’t so it’s kinda just okay?
Is that a thing?

why does writing take me so much longer than I think it does?
no, not "will". does.
I sit here typing away for what feels like twenty minutes meanwhile two or three hours have passed me by unawares. It boggles my mind every time that adhd hyperfocus is so gobsmackingly time blind that the internal "how long has it been" clock just freaking stops at the twenty-minute mark.
also tangentially related but how does one develop a healthy relationship with goals when one's entire life has been built on a toxic view of them? especially when that toxic view stems largely from adhd colliding with a culture that values steady performance, sticktoitiveness, and task / goal completion as signs of having a good character. And thus implying, whether or not the implication is meant, that anyone who lacks these qualities must be lacking in good character.
I grew up not being able to complete goals and so now whenever I think of something as a goal my unconscious immediately takes over and gives up. How do I convince it to not do that?
