“The kid wants coffee, black,” Five said with a smug smirk.
You roll your eyes as Five soaks in his pride.
“And you?” The lady asks.
You wave her off. “I’m okay, thanks.”
She just nods, turning to the man beside Five. “Cute kids.”
Five smiles, and you elbow his side when her eyes widen and she backs off. “Cut it out with the smiling. It’s creepy.”
“You think me smiling is creepy?” Five deadpans.
“Terrifying.”
It’s Five’s turn to roll his eyes before he stares down at the counter. “I don’t remember this place being such a shithole. I used to come here as a kid. Used to sneak out with my brothers and sister and eat donuts till we puked. Simpler times, huh?”
You want to smack him upside the head. He looks sixteen for god sake.
The man hesitates with an answer. “I suppose.”
The lady comes back, her name tag reading Agnes, and hands the coffee to Five and the pastry to the man.
“I got his,” The man offers, paying Agnes.
Five blinked in surprise. “Thanks.” His eyes drift towards the man's shirt, “You must know your way around the city.”
The man chuckles. “Hope so. I’ve been driving this for twenty years.”
“Good. I need an address.”
You raise your eyebrows in suspicion before grabbing Five’s coffee and drinking some of it for yourself. The hot liquid runs down your throat, bitter. You can feel Five’s glare at you, but you only shrug before setting the cup down.
The man gives Five the address he was looking for before walking out.
Five takes back his coffee, staring into it and taking another sip.
“Did you want more?” He offers.
“What?” You asked. “Did you poison it in the five seconds you’ve had it?”
Five just scoffs. “You probably poisoned it first.”
“Oh, please,” You sigh. “If I wanted to kill you — and I do — that’s hardly how I’d do it.”
“Let me guess,” Five hums. “You’d slam me up against the wall without even moving a hand.”
You grin. “One of many different ways.”
“I’m starting to see how this whole smile thing is creepy.”
You open your mouth to reply when the door to the shop opens. You and Five remain still as he looks to the bell for the reflection.
“Get ready,” He whispers under his breath.
Four gunmen approach the two of you, the barrels all pointed at your heads.
“Hmm, that was fast. Thought I had more time before they found us,” Five said, facing you.
“Okay, so let’s all be professional about this, yeah?” One of them speaks up. The one on Five’s side. “Both of you, on your feet and come with us. They want to talk.”
“I’ve got nothing to say," Five said as you asked.
“Why don’t you deliver a message for us?”
“It doesn’t have to go this way. Think I want to shoot two kids? Go home with that on my conscience?” He replies.
“Well, I wouldn’t worry about that,” You said absentmindedly, finishing off Five’s coffee, earning a kick from under the table that has you biting your lip.
“You won’t be going home,” Five finishes for you. He grabs a butter knife, disappears into thin air, and reappears by the gunman closest to him, stabbing him in the neck.
The gunman next to you is about to pull his trigger, and you just tilt your head. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
You blink, sending him flying across the room.
“Hey, assholes!” Five calls out, following with a whoosh.
You take that as your cue and crack your neck as gunfire explodes. A ball of energy forms in your hands, and you send it directly at the person to your right before propelling yourself up and grabbing their head, dropping to the ground, and hearing a sickening crack. More bullets fire your way, and you easily block them and send them elsewhere. Out of the corner of your eye, Five salutes behind a glass window and vanishes.
He reappears inside, grabbing the leg of a broken chair and piercing a man as your eyes glow red and you throw another man over the counter and into the donuts. One of the gunmen grabs Five, and you easily deflect a ball of energy his way, and he falls on the table. Five, undoes his tie and wraps it around their neck, yanking hard.
Two more guys come in, and Five shouts at you over the chaos.
“Hey, (Y/N), wanna make some noise?”
You quirk an eyebrow at him, kneeing the guy in front of you and slamming him down on the table.
“Preferably now!” Five shouts, ducking.
“Cover your ears,” You said.
You open your mouth just as Five vanishes. You scream, watching in slow motion as the last of the men fall to the ground. Blood pools from their ears and noses, all the glass in the room shattering.
Five reappears next to you with a smirk. “Putting that mouth to use, huh?”
In one quick motion, you thrust out your hand, and he’s pinned to the wall. He coughs, clawing at nothing as you cross your arms in front of him.
“You are absolutely insufferable,” You seethe.
Five kicks his legs out, choking out a few words. “Same goes for you.”
You wait a few more seconds before releasing your hold, and he falls to the ground, gasping in breaths.
“Next time, I’ll blow your mind,” You whisper down next to him. “I’ll show you putting my mouth to good use.”
Someone groans next to you, and in a few seconds, your boot finds home on their neck after crushing it.
You grab the tie left after Five’s attack, returning in front of him.
Five, now on his feet, raises a questioning eyebrow, and you don’t say anything, just fix it back around him.
He smirks as you step back. “Putting those hands to good use, huh?”
“Shut up.”

“Why are we doing this again?” He yelled from across the room.
“Because it is our neighborhood duty to participate.” She called back.
“And who’s brilliant idea was that?”
“Yours!”
“WAS I DRUNK WHEN I SUGGESTED THAT?”
She looked up with doe eyes shaking her head and said, “No. You were your normal amount of drunk when you came and suggested it.”
“Oh.” He repiled looking surprised for a moment and turned back on track, “Well I’m not going.”
As he turned on his heels, she yelled, “They are serving free drinks and well made sandwiches.”
He stopped his tracks, amused by the latest news and began walking backwards, “What I meant to say was I’m not going without a quick shower to fresh up.”
She smiled and winked at the camera with a shrug. She crossed her eyes, “How about we did a little dance at the talent show tonight as well?”
He yelled from that bathroom, “Only if you wear that sassy little number that make your eyes pop and fit you in all the right places!”
“Now you sound like yourself.”
“Wouldn’t be if I wasn’t!”
“And it’s for the children.”
“We already got one, who needs more?”
“Niky!”
“I love you too!”

At the town meeting, Nikolai was sitting down near the round table stuffing his face with a donut half listening to what Ji-Hoon saying as Marlene muttered his ear to share the food.
Herb was talking about the Jesters new playground in the front yard and how they should all invest in their lawns looking just as good.
That’s when Vision walked in standing all awkward and said, “I’ll just stay here and be as quiet as a church mouse.”
Nikolai yelped pulling up a chair, “Nonsense man, come sit! More the merrier. Maybe you can make the place more interesting. Uh, no offense Norm.”
He muttered, “None taken.”
Marlene snorted at the comment, handing Vision a box of doughnuts in which Nikolai stole from his grasp.
Tumblr media
She rolled her eyes instead passing around sandwiches and said, “You’ll love them. My wife made ‘em this morning.”
Vision kindly denied, “Oh no thank you. I don’t eat food.”
“Uh what?”
“..uhh what I meant to say is that I don’t eat food inbetween meals, but at meal time. I’m a regular eating machine.”
“Well more for-“ Ji-Hoon exclaimed about to put them a little to-go box for later but Marlene slapped his hand away, “-ow!”
“No more! Then you won’t be able to fit into your pants later.” Marlene respones scowled at him then turning back to Vision, “Would you like a stick of gum instead?”
Norm was about to say ‘is gum even food’ but one glare from Marlene shut the man up. Vision shrugged saying it couldn’t hurt and took a stick of gum from Herb which made him act kinda funny. They all assumed it was the flavor must’ve been different to his taste buds.
Nikolai and Herb smirked saying it would be great to have a game of horseshoe out back. Vision nodded excited which had Marlene and the others holding back their laughter.

The ladies however had an interest time at Dottie’s house. Amelia arrived somewhat easily carrying Milo in her arms as the the puppy playing patty cake with Geraldine. She thanked the women for keeping her company as they waited for the others. The girl said it was her pleasure to do so, she wasn’t sure why she came in the first place because she thought it would be more fun. Melissa arrived just in time, saying that her and her wife were having some exact fun that morning.
Tumblr media
Both girls laughed.
Dottie looked around counting head and raised an eyebrow, “Uh Amelia right?”
“Hm?” She asked.
“Uh I don’t remember saying dogs could come.”
Melissa smirks as she added, “And I don’t remember you saying that florals were on the list today. I guess we’re both disappointed.”
Dottie looks down at her loud floral dress, flowers rounding her tables set up and the floral curtains. She groaned and walked away as if she was fuming. Melissa smirked to herself as Geraldine and Amelia giggled, they liked florals but this was overkill. Agnes, Wanda and the other ladies finally joined in. Her puppy was being treated well by the staff members there, which made her smile.
Dottie was discussing the incident and plans for today, reminded them that this whole show was for the children. In which the other ladies repeated in unison.
“Did I walk into a cult or something...” Marlene muttered to herself as Amelia snorted.
Tumblr media
That earned a little smile from her other friends. Agnes was just drinking meanwhile Wanda was biting down on a cookie that she forgot what was happening.
She removed the cookie from her mouth to clap and repeat along, “For the children.”
Afterwards some ladies went to get ready for the show, but Amelia, Melissa and Wanda stayed behind to help clean up with Dottie.
“Thank you for helping us clean up today, we feel so lucky.” Wanda said with a smile, picking up plates.
“You are.” Dottie responded with a fake ass smile.
Melissa muttered, “I should’ve ran out when I had the chance.”
“You and me both.” Added Amelia with a smile.
The four of them wanted to correct the situation, trying to avoid any confusion and become friendly. Everything was going fine. Melissa was fixing fix up a few napkins hearing the girls speak when the radio started to turn into an oddly specific voice asking ‘Can you hear me, Wanda? Who’s doing this to you girls?’
Dottie got concerned asking who they are, in pure curiosity and shock the glass in her hand shattered as the radio returned back to normal. But she was bleeding a daring red as Amelia rushed over with some napkins to clear that mess up. Dottie was looking between both girls in confusion and slight embarrassment then calmly smiling like a perfectly good housewife should. Wanda stood there with no words coming out of her mouth as Melissa tried to defuse the situation.
“How do you know this much?” Dottie asked.
Amelia smiled, “Well, when your married for so long and had mishaps..you know when to stay calm..”
“Good. I’ll take care of this.”
“But you sure?”
“Do I look like I’m kidding?”
Dottie just walked away leaving the girls and Wanda to themselves wondering how uptight and strange the blonde could be. Amelia rushed over to see is the redhead was okay as Wanda nodded saying she was fine, having to get ready for the show.
———-
The show at the park was in full swing, as couples were in their fun acts. Marlene and her wife, Melissa, did a little balancing act for the whole crowd. Everyone clapped and cheered for their performance.
Tumblr media
Ji-Hoon was hosting the show talent show dressed in his trademark suit, as Amelia and Nikolai were up next doing their best dance routine yet. The two dance Jailhouse Rock on the stage, doing swings, kicks and twirls. Their footwork was excellent in their eyes, having the whole stage be their dance floor.
They finished off the dance with Nikolai dipping Amelia’s head with a classic grin and wink to the audience. She giggled and smiled across the crowd as they clapped loving their performance.
It didn’t matter if they won, they could all tell the couple had way too much fun. But winning would be nice of course.
The two raced off the stage watching Wanda and Vision getting ready. Amelia noticed that Vision looked like he was drunk, as she muttered if Nikolai had of them drink during their meeting. He just put a finger to his lips chuckled, when in reality he had no idea what happened to Vision.
But they got their answer once Wanda and Vision were performing on stage. It was honestly hilarious on their own magic act how silly Vision was out of the loop meanwhile Wanda was playfully showcasing their tricks.
Some of the crowd was confused, others were laughing meanwhile the whole time everyone was entertained piecing together the magic up.
Suddenly Vision walked off the stage and yelled, “Stand up, Shebert! Say hello to the crowd.”
Herbert stood up awkwardly, “Actually it’s Herbert..”
“Pipe down Sherbie and pick a card!”
Vision was fumbling around with his words, instructing Herbert to do as told. Afterward the tall blonde shuffled the cards then flipping one out with a confident expression.
“Is this your card?”
“Uh no.”
“I beg to differ.”
“No.”
“R-really?”
He threw the card over his shoulder and went to pick another one, as Hebert kept telling him, ‘no’. Vision made a grumping noise flipping across the card rapidly in front of the other man’s face repeatedly asking the same question.
All the cards went flying around the park until Vision held up the last one in frustration asking, “Is this your card?”
Herbert smiled, “It is!”
“It is what?!”
“It’s my card.”
Vision scoffed exclaiming, “Well pardon me, Herbert, have it back!” As he shoved the card onto his chest scrambling away and onto the stage saying he did the trick right. The crowd clapped and laughed.
Vision went on and on with tricks running around the stage like a maniac trying to get a hold of himself but failing. Marlene snorted as Melissa laughed. Poor Wanda had to deal with all of her husband’s mishap, covering it up with fake magic to go ahead his real magic act. Soon enough it was over.
Everyone clapped and cheered at their performance, as Ji-Hoon and Dottie called up all the acts to the stage for hand out awards. Everyone got a little ribbons or small trophies, but the real winner was Wanda and Vision.
All that mattered is that everyone had fun!
——————
Marlene took Melissa on a walk along the park afterwards then home for a special little treat of their own. All Amelia knew that Melissa was blushing after something her wife said in her ear before they left, Nikolai snorted loudly knowing those two were gonna have fun. He decided to take his wife home where he was greeted by their growing puppy Milo was leaping into his lap the moment he sat down on the couch.
“Sometimes I think you love that little mutt more than me.” Amelia joked putting their small trophy on the coffee table before taking a seat beside them.
Nikolai was kissing Milo’s face who was licking and curling up against him ignoring his wife’s jokes as he smirked. That was tall tale sign that she was right about that. He then pressed a kiss to her face as she tried to scurry away.
“You got dog slobber on you!” She yelled giggling.
“Really?! Can you remove it?” He shouted jokingly, picking up Milo who licked her cheeks as well.
“Ahh! You boys will be the death of me!”
“Take it back!”
“No!”
Nikolai and Milo were attacking Amelia with kisses and doggie breath, as laughter and yelling echoed the room.
The two heard a small rumbling sound coming from outside the house, pausing to look outside the window to see thunder and lightning coming. Nikolai’s eyebrows furrowed for a moment sensing something in the air, as Amelia stayed curious onto the sudden weather conditions.
Which meant a short stormy night for them, but a cozy one. As the pair looked at one around their respective features gleamed in the only bright lights of the living room.
The room temperature dropped then rising again for a moment as a wave of shifting sparkles washed over their home. The streets started to brighten up in brighter shades as well.
Every single house was turning into actual color. It felt completely natural and refreshing to the eyes of everyone in town.

Instead of black and white, they were all in color now.

2001
EIGHT sat on her bed quietly enjoying the silence of her and the book in her hands. Not often did the blonde girl get to sit down and do what she wanted. Since the moment she was able to speak, walk, and learn, Reginald Hargreeves had made sure she was always learning something new.
On this fairly quiet day, she was able to do as she, pleaseD. Of course,W knowing her family—it wouldn't last. It wasn't in their blood to just "leave" things alone. Not that she minded, but when it was a few days that she could relax and not worry about anything—that's where the problem began. Her eyes moved across the words that littered the page, the soft texture under her thumb and forefinger, ready to flip to another page. A luxury she didn't get to indulge in.
As soon as her ears picked up the loud 'woosh' sounded in the room. The blonde could only sigh inwardly and blink slowly, knowing very well who it was. "You do realize there are doors?" she asked without looking from her book, still hoping it would detour them to go away.
The boy rolled his eyes and snatched the book from her hands, throwing it across the room. Eight sat up and whined, "Five! I was reading that!"
Stuffing his hands in his shorts he nodded, "You were reading that, and now you're not. Come on we're going somewhere," he said taking out a hand from his pocket and offering it over to her.
Eight again sighed but got off her bed, brushing down her skirt and adjusting her blazer. Then placing her hand on his. Soon after another 'woosh' came through the air and they were gone from the blonde's room.
As the two appeared in a new sight, the girl rose a brow at the area. She turned to face the black-haired boy, "Griddy's?"
Five smiled and nodded, "Yes, but this time no Klaus or Ben—"
"—Or so you thought, Little Five!" yelled out a voice from behind them, interrupting Five.
The duo turned around, to see the walking forms of Klaus and Ben. Big smiles all over their faces. Eight smiled at the two and placed her hand in Five's pulling him into the store without waiting for their siblings. Five looked down at their hands and smiled a little. Even though his two idiot siblings had crashed his hopeful date, he just gripped her hand a little tighter.
The siblings all entered the store as the door gave off a small ring. Taking a seat by the counter the quartet watched as a young blonde woman walked up to them with a pen and notepad. She was a new waiter, none that the siblings had met before.
"Oh well would you look at here, aren't you out a little late?" the woman asked the group.
Eight smiled warmly at the woman, her dimple showing, "Our dad was nice enough to let us come in for a couple of donuts."
The woman "Agnes" as her name said laughed at how adorable they all looked in their school uniform, "Well alright, just tell me what you want," she said looking at the four teens before her.
Klaus raised his hand excitedly, "Oh, I want jelly-filled please!"
"Jelly-filled, okay got it, you dear?" she said writing it down on her notepad and then looking at Ben who blushed in embarrassment.
"I would like a chocolate glaze please," Said Ben shyly looking down at the counter, not wanting to meet the eyes of the youthful blonde lady.
The woman hummed and scribbled it down on her notepad, then looked at Five who met her eye contact. The boy resembled so much a grown-up. The way his hair was brushed to perfection, without a single hair out of place. She almost felt embarrassed to be near him.
"Sugar donut, please," Five said plainly, watching her also scribble it down.
"And for you?" Agnes asked the blonde girl, wanting to move on from the serious boy.
"Just glazed for me, thank you," Eight said with a small smile, one that Agnes couldn't help but return. With the young blonde girl, it felt like she was smiling at the sun.
"Okay, anything to drink?"
Eight was the first to nod and raise a finger, "The two of us will be getting black coffee," she said motioning to Five and herself, then moved to point at her brother, "They'll be getting hot chocolate."
Ben and Klaus gave each other a smile as their sister ordered exactly what they wanted. She didn't have to be a mind reader to know her siblings.
The woman nodded and scribbled it down, "Okay I'll be back with your drinks and donuts." and then left the group alone.
Five Couldn't be more annoyed at the sight of Klaus and Ben, "Why did you two idiots come here, I didn't invite you," the boy said not hiding his glare one bit.
Klaus only shrugged, "Well Little Five, you must understand, we like Ellie, while none of us like you, but we have to deal with you because of Ellie," the Séance finished not backing down from Five's annoyed glare.
"Now, now Klaus calm down, both of you," she paused to glance at the two dark-haired brothers, that looked similar, "They're here already so let's deal with it, plus I'll make it up to you," the girl finished off with a smile towards the boy beside her.
Five raised an eyebrow now intrigued about where this was going, "How?" he asked.
The blonde only smirked, causing the boy to blush slightly his brain running straight to the gutter, "That's for me to know and for you to find out."
Before Five could reply Agnes had come back with a tray filled with their drinks. Putting down the steaming cups for each of them. She followed with small plates along with their donuts.
"Thank you," said Eight as she and her siblings were handed their donuts.
The woman nodded and headed towards the back where she was no longer seen. Eight leaned forward and her eyes met Klaus who also knew what to do. The duo got up from the seats and headed to the back and grabbed a box, grabbing as many donuts as they could.
"What are you two idiots now doing?" Five hissed out to the two who were placing donuts in the bag, worried that Agnes the waiter would catch them in the act.
"Five, what does it look like I'm doing?" she answered with a smile. The boy groaned and slammed his head on the table, not minding the pain that occurred.
"Ellie~now is your time to shine," Klaus said in a sing-song voice.
The blonde lifted her hands to crack her knuckles, she loved using her powers. Lifting her arms she faces her palms towards one another, opening up a glowing portal. The iridescent blue with slight purple glowed as Klaus shoved the filled box into. Not waiting another moment the two watched the portal close and ran back to the seats as if nothing had happened.
"You two are idiots," Five said as he drank some of his coffee in hand, shaking his head at his stupid siblings.
Following in suit, she took a sip of her coffee, but not without giving him a smile, "But you love me, darling, don't deny it."
Five couldn't help but blush at her words. That's true he couldn't deny it, but he also couldn't say anything due to embarrassment. He was whipped and everyone knew it.
Agnes had returned with a wet rag and was wiping down the tables around them, as she hummed quietly. Eventually reaching the counter where the four siblings had finished their drinks and donuts.
"How much do we owe you?" Five asked as he searched his pocket for money he saved for the trip, unfortunately having to pay for Klaus and Ben.
The woman shook her head and smiled, "It's alright. It's in the house, enjoy your night!"
Five nodded and thanked her, grabbing Eight's hand and pulling her out of the store with Ben and Klaus following. As soon as they were far enough from the diner, Ben pulled on Eight's free hand, stopping everyone from moving. His eyes were wide in eagerness, "Can we eat them now?"
Eight smiled too, "Oh! Yes, I forgot about them," she replied, bringing her hands up again, and the box of donuts fell to her hands. The box of glory she thought to herself.
Klaus clapped and patted his sister's back, "Thank god your Daddy's favorite, if you weren't Ben and I would be running for the hills with this box," the boy laughed staring at the box.
Eight rolled her eyes, "Just eat your donuts, Klaus," she said as she picked up one and began eating it.
The only sane one in the group could explain what happened, but he hated the fact that he had to witness it. In no less than fifteen minutes, Eight and Ben had shoveled down more donuts than a normal person should have. The time manipulator had his arm around the girl's waist, while her arm wrapped around his shoulder.
The blonde slurred her words, "I hate life, why do I feel like this," somehow sounding like a drunken college girl after a break-up.
"Because you ate more donuts than you should've," Five said reminding her of her choices.
She only groaned but paused to gag on the thought of the donuts in her stomach, The sharp sweetness taste still lingering on her tongue every time she swallowed. Making a promise to herself that she would never in her life eat another donut again.
The duo moved only slightly before Eight started gagging and dry heaving, Five paused and began to cringe at the sounds, "Eight I swear to everything in existence if you puke on me..." he threatened but was too late—She had hunched over and began puking all that she ate in the past few minutes.
Now it wasn't only Five who was cringing and groaning in disgust, but Klaus who was holding Ben in his arms. Who has also puked onto his shoes.
"We should take them home now," Klaus said rubbing circles on the boy who didn't look all that well.
The time manipulator couldn't help but nod in agreement, "Yeah, I know. Hold on to my shoulder."
Klaus did as he was told and felt as the world swirled passed them and landed softly in Ben's room. Klaus nodded and began helping a groaning Ben to bed.
Five grabbed ahold of Eight and once more the world swirled past him into Eight's room. As she reached the familiarity of her room she groaned and rushed to the bathroom and began puking again. Her stomach churned as she felt as if she was puking her stomach. Tears brimmed her eyes as she gripped the toilet seat.
Five walked over and moved out of the way, "Why did you accept Ben's challenge?"
"Because I thought I would win, and I did!" she said celebrating, but quickly heaving and clutching the pearly white toilet.
Eventually, she stopped vomiting and finally had the energy to brush her teeth and walk back to her bed. Five placed a small furry blanket over her making sure she was okay. As he was about to leave, Eight's hand shot forward and grabbed his wrist.
"Stay, please..." she whispered towards him, her eyes blinking slowly as drowsiness finally hit her.
The boy tried to fight against her wishes, "Eight you don't want me here," he sighed squeezing her hand slightly, before letting go completely. Not waiting for a response he walked closer to the door, reaching for the doorknob. Before he could open the door and leave the door ceased to appear. His eyes widened and turned to face the sleepy blonde.
Her arm was sticking out and her flowing warm energy was lit ablaze, "Please..." she whispered one more time, her blue eyes teary and tired.
This time he sighed and nodded, removing his shoes and blazer, and neatly placing them on a nearby chair. Lifting the blanket he slid onto the bed. The two faced each other with small smiles. He couldn't help but move a piece of hair behind her ear.
"Five..." she whispered fingers tracing over his face and poking the beauty marks that lined his face.
"Yes?" he whispered back, his face warm from her fingers brushing his face, his lips with her fingertips.
"Please go brush your teeth with an extra toothbrush and then come lay with me," she said softly, eyes slowly blinking.
Five chuckled, only Eight would ruin the moment by telling him to brush his teeth. Removing himself from the bed, he headed towards her bathroom, and true to her word an extra toothbrush was under the sink. Quickly brushing and rinsing his mouth he made his way back to the bed. His eyes softened at the sight of the sleeping girl.
Pulling the blanket he made his way towards the other end of the bed, facing away from her. Not wanting to scare her if she were to wake suddenly with the sight of his face. Getting comfortable, he sighed and shut his eyes. Just before slumber took over his hazy mind, he felt small arms wrap around his torso, while her face snuggled into his back. Smiling to himself he put his hand over hers, finally allowing himself to fully knock out.
As the morning began to hit Eight's room, the boy's eyes darted open. Especially when he felt something warm pressed on his back. Looking around the room, he noticed the fairy lights around the room. Right...he had slept with Eight last night, after her puking debacle. Slowly he pulled himself from her arms, getting up from the bed. Turning he smiled at the sight. Eight's mouth was slightly open as her blonde hair frizzy against the pillow. Right now the blonde look like a hot mess, not her usual perfect brushed hair. Strands poked around her pillow and fell over her face slightly.
As quietly as he could he got off the bed and gathered his shoes and blazer, knowing Reginald's bell would ring soon. He spatial-jumped back to his room. Hoping he didn't wake up the sleeping girl in the process.
Mere minutes after the boy had left, Eight's alarm rang and she was up in an instant. Even if she had felt like a hungover college girl, all those years of waking up to her alarm, quickly brought her up. In her groggy state, she forced herself to go to the bathroom and take a quick shower. Changing into a new clean set of her uniform. Drying and brushing her hair, she walked out and gasped.
Eight then remembered that Five had stayed with her the night before. Something that Reginald didn't like his children doing. There was once Klaus, Ben, and herself wanted to have a sleepover in her room, and the Hargreeves man didn't let it happen. Punishing all three for disobeying his rules, and for disturbing his golden child. While he wanted all children to succeed, he wanted Eight to be the best.
The blonde girl blushed at the feeling of being pressed against his warm body. Shaking her head, she tried to get it out of her head. The sharp echo of Grace's bell rang through the empty halls of the Hargreeves Mansion. Breakfast. Placing a headband to remove her hair from her face, she opened her door. Blue meeting blue.
The two teens looked away and missed the blush that rose to each of their cheeks.
Not wasting any more time, Eight stepped through a portal and arrived at the dining room. It was partially to avoid any contact with Five. She obviously wasn't in her right mind last night. But things never go according to plan. Near her was no other than Five who had jumped next to her. The rest of the teens followed quickly standing behind their chairs waiting for their father.
Small clicking was heard as Reginald's dress shoes tapped on the ground. He stood behind his chair and looked around, "Sit," and so everyone did and began eating in silence. Under the table where the two sat, the boy continuing to eat, moved his foot and brushed it against her.
Eight moved her head to look at Five, but he didn't move to look at her. So the girl warm in cheeks, bumped her shoe into his. It was their way of subtle affection.
The only sound that could be heard was their forks scraping the plate, of course, she didn't miss the looks between Luther and Allison. Those two weren't as subtle as they thought they were. She was surprised that Reginald hadn't caught the two giving each other lovey looks.
Now let us set a record straight. Yes, the group of eight children wasn't siblings. They all came from different women from around the world. So it's not incest. But it is odd that they were raised as siblings and share the same last name, and call Grace mother.
That's why Eight and Five tried their best to distance themselves from ever being in that sibling hold. Yes, the blonde girl called everyone else brother or sister. Refused to call Grace mother, as the others had done, and did her best to see Reginald as a caregiver than a father. Maybe she did it to make the relationship between Five and herself explainable. Or she knew deep down inside these children weren't her family.
Snapping out of her deep odd thought, she listened to the voice coming from the record player. The inspirational talk felt like white noise in the room. She hated the recording, she hated learning and training. For as long as she could remember, Eight wanted to know her real mother. To be a child and not a hero.
Eight enjoyed the white noise-filled silence, it made sure no one spoke to her. It was a headache enough with the talk. It wasn't long before everyone was sent back to their rooms to change into training gear. It was Eight's favorite part of the training they had to do. Beat your opponent with only powers, and boy was it fun.
"Eight and Two," Reginald called out, as he looked down at his clipboard.
The blonde stepped forward smirking, she knew she was good and so did everyone else. Unlike Diego who groaned inwardly knowing this was going to end badly for him.
The two stepped onto the mat, and shook hands, "Nice to know you'll be losing dear brother," she mocked.
"Always the confident one are you?" he muttered towards her, but before any other words could be said Reginald had blown his whistle, and Eight had disappeared. The girl hated wasting sweet time.
Diego turned his body in hopes of spotting the blonde, but everywhere his eyes went. The girl ceased to exist. Gripping his knife in hand he did his best to heighten his senses for any movement.
Like always luck never won against the blonde girl. Eight had used her lasso and grabbed onto his foot, pulling on the glowing rope. Diego was face-planting on the mat.
"Come on Diego I know you can do better than that..." she called out, as she walked circles around him, her teasing laugh ringing in his ears.
Number Two groaned and got up, quickly throwing a knife in her direction, but not before she stretched out an arm to stop it. Curse your fucking powers, El. The boy muttered in his head, rolling out of the way when she flung the sharp weapon right back at him.
Plucking it from the ground he ran towards her, hoping his plan would work. Before he could reach the blonde girl, he ran through a colorful portal. But he wasn't worried for a bit, only about how he would land.
As Eight smirked outsmarting her brother, it was a moment after he had disappeared that she yelped. Looking down at her arm where she had felt a stinging pain, there was a deep cut on her arm. Her training suit was clouded with a wet red stain. Diego had thrown the knife before he had entered the portal. He had predicted her move and made his knife curve towards her as he was gone.
In anger, she re-opened the portal above her. Letting him fall onto the ground with a loud thud. The young teen groaned in pain, but smirked when he noticed her bloodied arm, "Not so invisible are we El?"
The girl glared at the boy, her hands began glowing in annoyance, "We'll find out now, brother," she hissed.
Diego shivered at the way she spoke the word, something about it seemed to yell in alert for him to run. But being the masochist he was, he shrugged, "Give it to me, El."
Oh, the famous last words. The lights all flickered to a dim causing everyone to look around in worry. The older Reginald only hummed and squinted his eyes to see how this would end.
Looking all around him he tried to find the girl, but all he felt was the wind of every time she appeared and kicked or punched him. The flickering lights not letting him see didn't help that much either. It was almost like a horror movie, seeing her appear and whisper into his ear.
It wasn't long before he fell flat on his back and Eight was straddling his stomach and one of his own knives on his throat. "Do you give up dear brother?" she giggled looking back at her father who simply nodded and wrote stuff down on his clipboard.
While all the Hargreeves were as talented as they come. Smart, strong, and had extraordinary skills. It was always more or less the same result when it came to training with Eight. There was no doubt Reginald had a bias towards the blonde girl. It was notoriously known that she had extra training just for being a favorite. She may not have been named Number One, but everyone knew who truly was number one.
It had been later in the evening after training and lunch when Reginald Hargreeves walked up to Eight's bedroom. He knocked on the plain wood door and walked in.
"Eight, pack things for five days, we will be doing business overseas. You are coming along," he told her and then walked out, closing the door.
She sighed closing her book, never a day she could just sit and have peace. Putting her book down, she walked to her closet where she was able to grab her suitcase. Unzipping it, she threw several of her uniform sets, and other clothes she would need. As she walked towards the bathroom, a crack in the air sounded.
"You're leaving," he stated more than asked, looking at her back as she faced the bathroom.
The blonde nodded, "Seems so," she replied as she sent her suitcase floating, along with her small travel pack with her toiletries. During these times, she favored her abilities. Flicking her hand, the case zipped closed.
"And you're just going to let him?" he asked, his hands stuffed in his pockets as he watched her clothes neatly land in the case. He was a hypocrite asking this of her. Five for the longest time didn't have the backbone to confront his adopted father. The man was all too serious and frightening to be asked anything. Yet, here he stood telling the blonde off for not standing her ground.
"Five I don't have much choice in what I do," she said as she walked to place the suitcase on the floor with a slight thud.
"We all have a choice," he said, stepping closer to her.
Eight scoffed at his words, "Not me, and you should know this," she sighed walking closer to him with the case in hand, "I'll be back before you know it," she added leaning forward and kissed his cheek. Then she walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.
It had been two weeks since Reginald and Eight had left the mansion. The trip seemed to last a lot longer than intended, but the blonde didn't mind as training for her was cut to none. Training of course went on for hours for the siblings. It was much easier now since Pogo wasn't as harsh to them as their father was. The house seemed a little dull without the presence of floating things throughout the house. The wild chaos that Klaus and Eight would create.
It was late in the day after everyone was in their own rooms doing their own thing. Below in the front was the fancy car arriving at the front of the Hargreeves Manor. From it stepped out Reginald and Eight conversing in light conversation about their trip.
"Lovely daughter Mr. Hargreeves," an older lady said while walking her dog past the two.
The older man nodded, "Thank you, indeed she is," was all he said, and ushered the blonde inside.
Eight went forward inside the manor and waited for her Reginald. She didn't know what to feel after the woman had called his daughter. She may be the one who was treated and catered to the most, but in no way did she feel that Reginald treated her like a daughter. More like a trophy that could bring him closer to glory.
"I have nothing else planned for you. You may ask Grace for any food if you feel the need to. Good night  Number Eight," he said to the smaller girl, not talking about what had been said to her.
Eight nodded, "Alright, thank you, father. Good night," she said nodding and disappearing to her room. Not wanting to walk up the stairs and disturb her siblings who were probably asleep. Reaching her room, it was what she least expected.
Five who had been in her room for the past two weeks sat on a chair. Idly reading a book, keep an ear out for her footsteps to when she would be coming back. What he didn't see coming was the blonde's portal appearing in the middle of the room. The sudden noise caused Five to jump from the chair he was sitting on and fell to the floor with a thud.
"Oh! Five are you alright?" she gasped walking over to help the groaning boy on the floor.
"I'm alright, how was your trip?" he asked, now sitting back on the chair, waving his hand not caring about his injury.
"Oh amazing, I got to meet so many new people and try so many different things," she gushed and jumped on her bed gazing at her black ceiling glittered with fake stars. "I learned how to wield a sword! Isn't that amazing?" she gasped towards Five.
"Sure is," he commented watching as she talked about her trip with a large smile on her face. Even though no other sibling ever got any special treatment as she did, not even him. He couldn't say anything as her large smile said more than anything.
Reginald Hargreeves was not a father to most of the teens in the house, but to Eight Hargreeves, he was the father everyone wished they had. He was supportive and tough when he needed to be with her. He made sure she knew how to defend herself if she didn't have any use for her powers. And prepared she would always be, Eight Hargreeves was Daddy's Little Girl.

I am just curious about something fluffy. How does Estinien handle coming into the kitchen in the middle of the night and catching his beloved pregnant wife red handed while she is eating snacks because of cravings
(Wrote here BUT I am SO HAPPY to do more of this!!)
Agnes glanced at Estinien and noted the little smile on his face as he slept. His nightmares aren't so bad these days. He's sleeping well and wakes up so happy.
Oh no. Not now... Agnes closed her eyes and tried to will away yet another craving. Those chocolate cake donuts from H'nadia's mum look so fucking good. And I know they are good. I've had them before. AND I WANT THEM RIGHT NOW. No, no, no. It's... Awkwardly she rolled over and checked the chronometer on her beside table. 2:38 AM. Oh for fuck's sake. I suppose I can have just one and then scurry back to bed. Awkwardly again, Agnes rose from bed and padded from the bedroom to the kitchen. Turning on a light, she grabbed a plate from a cabinet (gifts from Vrtra, like this apartment) and took a chocolate cake donut from the box (H'nadia's mum didn't have to put them in a fancy box!).
Esme, you're such a naughty little baby...making Mummy get cravings for donuts and mousse and sex and...oh gods. DON'T THINK ABOUT THAT!
Agnes bit into the donut and sighed. H'nadia's mum is one of the best bakers I know. So cakey and chocolatey and amazing and I want all the donuts right now NOOOOOOO. "No, no, not all the donuts at almost three in the morning..."
"Hmph, if you want more, just eat, woman." An amused, if slightly sleepy, voice rumbled from the entryway into the kitchen.
She let out a little yelp and dropped the rest of the donut on the plate. "LOVE! You can't just sneak up on a very pregnant lady! Good gods."
Estinien chuckled and sat down next to his wife, wrapping an arm around her broad shoulders. "Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you, sweet girl. I noticed you were gone and decided to form a search party of one."
"Ah yes, well...I...was thinking about these donuts." Agnes blushed. "Silly Esme got me craving again."
He gently pressed a kiss to her head, and Agnes could swear she felt a smile on his lips. "Then eat. There's no harm in it. I'll stay up with you."
"N-no, you don't--"
"I don't mind." He broke off a piece of the donut and popped it in his mouth. "Mmmmm, damn good."
"OH MY GODS YES, AREN'T THEY?!?! I just fucking love these donuts. How did H'Kira know I wanted some?!" MOAR DONUTS!
Estinien laughed. "I don't know, but she deserves a thank you at the very least." He kissed her head once more and took a second donut from the box. "You want another?"
I shouldn't. I shouldn't. It's nearly three in the morning. I shouldn't.
I SHOULD.
"Yes please! Oh, and some milk! That would great, love."
Within half a bell, the couple returned to bed. Agnes insisted that Estinien spoon her while she slept and he gladly obliged! My handsome grumpy dragon, I love you so.
The rest of the donuts were gone by the end of breakfast.

🔥 Responsible Luther
(Other responsible Luther au posts: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven)
After everything happens, after the Commission is destroyed and the apocalypse is permanently stopped, and they give their dad what for... they have to figure out how to live without the apocalypse hanging over their head.
And also, they figure out how to deal with the friends they made along the way.
Which means that Agnes comes over with a casserole and a smile and a dozen new pictures of birds, and Allison brings Claire and Patrick down since there’s now no chance of being caught in the kidnapping crossfire, and Luther thinks he’s going to need to invest in a bigger table heck
Which means that Claire is loudly making bird noises while pointing at the pictures Agnes brought over, while Agnes attempts to teach her the proper ones while Patrick balances little Claire on his lap with all the longsuffering patience of a father of a toddler.
Klaus is loudly debating the merits of Clue vs. Monopoly with Diego while Vanya shuffles a deck of cards absently because she already knows that they’re going to end up playing poker or something
Luther and Allison are in the kitchen attempting to cook. Allison’s food skills tend to be geared towards the food tastes of a toddler, so she’s got mac ‘n cheese and dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets down pat but other things uhhhhh not so much. Luther has gotten progressively better, but he’s no Jamie Oliver
Which leaves Hazel to sit awkwardly at the table across from an unimpressed Five.
“I’m not calling you Uncle Hazel.” Five says dismissively, “No matter what Klaus calls you.”
“That seems fair.” Hazel is awkward as he shuffles uncomfortably on the second-hand chair that Luther picked up after Diego threw Klaus and broke one of them after a particularly lively debate.
(Klaus seems to have decided that being adopted into the family is punishment enough for Hazel, for some reason. Then again, Five has seen the glint in Klaus’s eye when he gives Hazel a big hug. Klaus is less forgiving than people might think. He’s just very petty about it.)
“You tried to kidnap me.” Five crosses his arms, “Multiple times.”
Hazel clears his throat, “Uh. Yes. That is true. I... did that.”
Five tilts his head, calculatingly. “What do you think that’s worth?”
“W - Worth?” Hazel looks lost. It’s almost sweet, how he even now underestimates Five’s vicious streak. Even after seeing Five with explosives and covered in dust after crawling through the ceilings of the Commission like an unholy gremlin.
Five shrugs, “If you’re going to be... part of the family or whatever, and I am fully prepared to call Agnes my aunt because let’s be real, I witnessed her slap Dad and that makes her family for life. She seems to like you a lot.”
That makes Hazel smile.
“Ew.” Five can only offer in response to that, “But back to my point. Agnes rules, and I think she’s decided that Mom is her new best friend, Claire is her new grandchild, and that Klaus needs fattening up. Which I guess makes you family, too.”
Hazel just nods, a tad hesitantly.
“We’ve had enough of shit family.” Five says firmly, “So if you’re going to be part of it then you have to commit. You have to be here.”
“Okay.” Hazel says, “I can do that.” He isn’t actually sure he can, but he’s determined to try since he’s head over heels for Agnes and Agnes seems like she’s decided to take the Hargreeves under her wing.
“Right.” Five nods decisively. “I’m thinking Disney World.”
“Of course - wait.” Hazel pauses, clearly making a moment to process what just came out of Five’s mouth. “What?”
“You kidnapped me.” Five declares, loud enough that Hazel makes shushing noises, even though literally everyone in the house knows about his past. “And I get you helped everyone come get me of whatever, even though I totally had that handled, but you totally kidnapped me. And that’s definitely worth Disney World.”
“You. Want me to take you to Disney World.” Hazel sounds out slowly, as if tasting the words in his mouth before speaking them. As if that will make this conversation make some amount of sense.
“Me and Claire. And Klaus.” Five clarifies, tapping on the table. “Maybe the others, too.”
“Why.” Hazel asks, just completely flabbergasted.
Five shrugs. “Klaus wants to go, and I’ve never been. Klaus says that it’s an apology thing if a family member needs forgiving, they do some big nice gesture and then bygones are bygones.”
Hazel processes that. “I don’t think. I don’t think that’s exactly the uh, the healthiest perspective. On that.”
“So.” Five says pointedly.
“I can. Try?” Hazel offers helpfully, “I mean, I’d have to talk it over with uh, with Agnes.”
“Five Hargreeves.” A voice interrupts them, as Luther sweeps in, “Are you blackmailing Hazel?”
Five shrugs unapologetically, “More like blatantly guilting him.”
“That’s my boy!” Klaus hollers from the other room, and then yelps and if they concentrate everyone can hear Vanya scolding their brother. Something about ‘encouraging behavior’ and ‘their ridiculous family already has enough criminal tendencies’.
“In my defense,” Five points out, “He did kidnaps me. And Klaus. More than once.”
“In his defense, you kind of suck as a hostage.” Luther points accusingly at Five with a spatula, “You broke his arm in three places.”
“He was kidnapping me!” Five sputters.
“I did do that.” Hazel offers, looking very contrite. “I deserved that, really.”
“And he fed Mr. Pennycrumb half his vegetables last time he was here.” Five accuses, not appreciating Hazel’s assistance.
That makes Luther put his hands on his hips and stare at a red faced Hazel.
“It was green beans.” Hazel mutters, not quite willing to meet anyone’s eyes and so he addresses the table rather than anyone in the room.
“Is that why he smelled so bad?” Luther demands, looking between Hazel and Five absolutely aghast.
“Worth a trip to Disney World?” Five grins cheekily.
Luther just gives a long suffering sigh, “I’m going back to help Allison in the kitchen. This officially no longer involves me.”
Hazel gives Luther’s retreating back the most betrayed look for leaving him alone with Five, which is honestly fair.
“So.” Five turns his full attention on Hazel, tapping his fingers together and looking like a tiny supervillain. Considering that Five’s literal job used to be fighting villains as part of a child superhero teams, this was likely on purpose. “About that literal guilt trip.”
Hazel just buries his face into his palms and groans.

Silent But Deadly
Episode 1: “We Only See Each Other At Weddings & Funerals”
Tumblr media
“Does anyone else see little Number 5 and some girl or is that just me?” Klaus asks, rubbing his eyes in confusion. It had seemed that the Hargreeves’ siblings long lost brother, Five, had returned looking a lot younger. Not to mention the girl who looked about his age lying on the floor from impact, groaning.
Five helped her up and they both looked around. “Shit.”
Soon enough, the two (and the rest of the family, minus their dad father) were in the kitchen. Five was making a peanut-butter and marshmallow sandwich while the girl who appeared beside him earlier sat on a chair, fidgeting with a fork that she found on the table.
“So, are going to talk about it?” Luther asked after a few moments of awkward silence. Five rolled his eyes.
“Talk about what?” He scoffed, placing two pieces of bread on a cutting-board. His siblings watched closely, amazed yet confused.
“You were gone for 15 years!” The man exclaims, putting his arms out for exhaggeration.
“It’s been a LOT longer then that.” He seethed, getting the peanut butter from the fridge. “The old man was right. I wasn’t ready.”
“Where did you even go?” Diego asks.
“The future.” He teleported in front of him, earning a mumble. “It’s shit by the way.”
Klaus put his hand up weakly. “Called it.”
That comment earned a small chuckle from Ivory. Her eyes widened as she realized that the noise mad everyone’s eyes on her, and she slumped back into the seat. It had been so many years since she saw people. However, her thoughts are interrupted from Luther talking again.
“So what are you saying? You’re 58? Is she 58 too?” He asks, pointing at the girl again.
“No. My consciousness is 58. Apparently my body is now 13 again.” Five responds sarcastically, ignoring the other question. He sighed. “The equations were off. Huh. Bet Delores is laughing now.”
At the sound of Delores, Ivory shot him a look, making Five laugh quietly.
“Delores?” Vanya asked.
“So, how did you get back?” Allison interrupted, saying what they were all wondering.
“In the end, I had to project my consciousness forward to every instance of time.”
“I don’t understand...”
“He means that h-h-he gathered all of his powers t-together to teleport 8 d-days from where w-w-we were.” Ivory states for him. It was the first time she spoke.
Five grabbed the newspaper on the table. “Guess I missed the funeral.”
“How do you know about that?” Luther asked, feeling the need to defend his father.
“What part of the future do YOU not understand?” Five seethed, reading it. “Heart faliure, huh?”
“Yes-”
“No.”
He chuckled humorously, grabbing Ivory’s hand. “Nice to see nothing’s changed.” And with that, he walked out of the kitchen, ignoring the calls from his sister.
The two walked to his bedroom where he opened his closet, only to see the same uniform over and over again. He cursed, tossing one to Ivory. She looked at it before laughing slightly.
“Wow, t-t-the Hargreeves official u-u-uniform.” she jokes, inspecting it. Five scoffs and rolls his eyes but she can clearly see the amused smile on his face. “N-Now get o-o-out, I have to c-c-change.”
His smile turned into a suggestive smirk. “It’s nothing I haven’t seen before.”
That earned him a shoe to the head.
--
Ivory decided to stay back while the funeral happened. Well, it WAS a funeral. Then, she heard yelling, a knife being pulled out and a heavy object get destroyed. In a few minutes, everyone was back inside. She sat on a chair, cleaning her hearing aids while Klaus and Allison watched in confusion. Realizing she hadn’t even introduced herself, Ivory chuckles as she places them back in.
“Hi. I’m I-I-Ivory Sawyer.” she greets, a warm smile on her face. The two return once and introduce themselves as well.
“How do you know Five?” Allison asked her.
“We’re...close.” Ivory dismisses, ignoring the stinking read in her cheeks as memories rush in. “I met him in the future.”
“Oh. Where’s Vanya?” She continues. Ivory sighs in relief when she moves on.
“Oh...she left.” Klaus confirms sadly. Suddenly, Five walks into the room with an empty coffee maker and starts complaining about it. She scoffs at his caffeine addiction, but Ivory can’t say much. The girl also has a craving for sweets a lot, so she knows what it’s like. She’s lifted from her thoughts when Five grabs her arm and teleports her out of the room and into the car.
“Where are we going?”
“Getting a decent cup of coffee.”
--
Ivory sits beside Five, chewing nervously on her nails. She can feel that the commission members are searching for them as of right now. Five notices her tenseness and grabs her arm softly. She relaxes at his touch. Finally, after a few moments, the waitress Agnes comes in. She orders her usual, a jelly donut.
“And can I get the kid a glass of milk or something?” The lady asks, pointing at Five with her pen. Ivory has to stifle a laugh. It’s true that he looked quite petite for a 13 year old.
“The kid wants coffee. Black.” He confirms, smiling at Agnes creepily.
“Cute kid.” Agnes comments before running into the kitchen to make their orders.
Five turns and starts talking to the man beside him, which Ivory finds strange but she ignores it, looking over at the windows. The world is so much different then what it’s going to be like in 8 days. Too bad.
Ivory is snapped out of her thoughts when she can feel a gun pointed at her head. She sighs. Damn it, she knew this would happen! Ivory looks at Five, who seems to have a plan as he grabs a knife from the counter, quickly blinking away.
Great. It was time for another fight.
--
Vanya gasps when she sees Five and Ivory in her apartment. When asked how, he responds with his usual defense.
“Rapists can climb.”
She blinks. “You’re so weird.”
The 3 of them are facing each other on the couch after a few moments. Vanya notices the blood on their clothes and gasped again, but was quickly dismissed by Ivory not to worry about it. Finally, Five starts the conversation.
“I’ve decided you’re the only one I can trust.”
“Why me?” she asks softly.
“Because you’re ordinary.” Five deadpans, but quickly corrects himself when Ivory steps on his foot. “Because you’ll listen.”
Vanya nods, getting closer to them.
“The world ends in 8 days, and I have no idea how to stop it.”

Mommy Issues
Movie/Game/Show: Umbrella Academy Dynamic: Five Hargreeves/Reader (Platonic) Warnings: you’re a mom of two, maybe might be sad? Summary: Five has to pay a visit to the old lady. ~~~
“Come on,” she held out the can of beans, shaking it around slightly when the boy refused, “You have to eat, Five.”
He shook his head, continuing to mark up the book in his hands, “Too busy.”
“You’re never too busy to fucking eat,” (Y/n) huffed, grabbing the book from his hands and replacing it with the can of beans, “It’ll all be here when you’re done.”
Five pursed his lips but decided to not argue with the woman, “You’re lucky you’re the only person left in this hellhole.”
“How so?” (Y/n) crossed her arms, desperately attempting to hide her starvation, “I get to take care of a little boy?”
“I’m not a little boy, first of all. I’m thirteen, technically a teenager.”
The woman snickered, “What’s your second point?”
Humming through his chewing, Five quirked a brow, gesturing for her to continue.
“You said ‘first of all’,” she shrugged, reaching for the bottle of wine settled amongst the rubble of an old library, “Did you have a second point to bring up?”
When the boy didn’t respond, (Y/n) quietly laughed before looking at the book Five was so focused on since he found it. Extra Ordinary by Vanya Hargreeves, her brows furrowed as she picked it up and began flipping through it. Five nearly choked on his beans, “Careful with that.”
“I will be,” she calmly replied, tone softening at the shared surname between the two, “Was she your mom?”
Five shook his head, taking the book back, “Sister.”
“I’m sorry you have to go through this,” (Y/n) forced on a smile, reaching into her tattered pants’ pocket, “If it’s any consolation, I lost some people too.”
Just as he went to retort, a picture of two children was forced into his hand. A boy his age and a much younger girl, and suddenly he regretted every time he mockingly called her mom. Her sad smile was still painted on her lips as realization sunk its claws into Five, “Your kids?”
“Yeah,” she murmured, sitting up straight, “I took all the pictures in the house before packing up.”
“Since we’re learning about each other,” he held out Vanya’s book, “I think you should read this.”
(Y/n) nodded, opening up to the first page, “If you want, for whatever weird reason is in your genius brain, you can keep the picture. I have a lot.”
“Thanks,” he pressed the photo into his blazer pocket, “you can’t keep the book. I want that back when you’re done and don’t write in it.”
“Naturally.”
Silence broke over the pair until (Y/n) spoke again, much quieter than before.
“What?”
“Stop zoning out, creeper,” she ruffled his hair.
“Don’t baby me, (Y/n),” the thirteen-year-old boy snapped, still clutching his mannequin companion to his scrawny body.
In response, the woman rolled her eyes, “I’ll baby you all I want, Five, because in case you haven’t noticed, we’re in a wasteland and I’m the only adult alive.”
“So far,” the boy glared, “There could be some lonely Australian man across the ocean and we have no clue.”
She shook her head, “Well until we find him, I’m still going to baby you - because that’s what you are to me. A little baby in need of mothering.”
Five grumbled under his breath, “You’re more annoying than anything else at this point.”
(Y/n) didn’t verbally reply, only pulling up the scarf acting as the boy’s mask before continuing down the road. She turned when Five didn’t follow, nudging her head down the way, “Come on, I think there's a wagon we could find to carry supplies!”
A wagon there was, but only one. At least at that point. The grown woman huffed while looking around, “Put Dolores in, you’re rolling the thing with you.”
“What?” Five looked up at her, “But you’re the adult, aren’t you?”
“Which means I get to tell you to roll it around.”
The wagon would go to him then. The boy.
“What’re you thinking about?”
Five’s brows furrowed as he walked, lugging the dirtied thing behind him, “What are you talking about now, (Y/n)?”
She simply stared at him, a blank, empty stare, “What are you thinking about?”
Her eyes made him nervous now, they were devoid of any kindness and warmth they usually held when looking at him. Less like a loving mother-figure and more like the mannequin he held close at night. But even Dolores smiled every so often.
“Five!” she suddenly shouted, no longer walking. She rushed over, grabbing his shoulders, “Five!”
There were no hands on his shoulders, just the old, wrinkled one between his own hands. He blinked a few times, shaking his head before looking down to the elderly woman on the floor, “Sorry, what were you saying?”
“As spacey as ever,” (Y/n) chuckled dryly, coughing a few times between the laughter, “I asked what you were thinking about.”
“Oh, nothing much,” he lied easily enough, “Just how much I’ll enjoy you not bossing me around.”
The dying woman shook her head, using what little strength she had to smack his arm, “You’ve been a rude little boy since we met.”
“Well,” he shrugged, letting a soft silence fill the heated air, rubbing his thumb over the weathered bones in this old woman’s hand, “What about you? What are you thinking about?”
“My kids,” she smiled faintly, “I’m excited to see them again.”
Little Joan and Lacy, he’d heard about them countless times. Joan was about his age when the pair first met after the Apocalypse, dark hair and light eyes with freckles spread across his cheeks. Lacy was on the younger scale with little curls sprouting from her head and brown eyes like honey pots with a birthmark right on her forehead. Adorable kids, from what few pictures survived the fall of humanity.
“I wish I could’ve met them,” he grinned down at the faint woman.
(Y/n) nodded weakly, eyes fluttering shut every now and again, “You three would’ve been so cute together. Them trying to make you smile and you just being grumpy; like something out of a sitcom.”
Five’s eyebrows rose at the sentence, “Now I’m not so sure.”
“Stop,” she wheezed, patting at her chest, “You would’ve loved them…” it was quiet for a few more moments, “I’m worried about you too, you know? Being all alone after so long, I don’t want you to go completely crazy.”
“I won’t be alone,” he attempted to reassure, nodding towards their plastic friend, “I have Dolores, don’t I?”
“God, don’t get me started on that…”
“I really will be fine,” he gripped her hand a little tighter, “Don’t be worrying about me, I can handle myself, old lady.”
“One day you’ll be an old man, and then who’ll be laughing? Me, from the afterlife.”
Five wouldn’t admit it, but the thought of (Y/n) still being somewhat around comforted him, “I’ll be counting on it.”
“Better be.”
. . .
Five rubbed at his temples, stopping the Apocalypse built up a headache worse than surviving it. He pushed the doors to Griddy’s open, not having had one of their coffees since his first night into the present. He slid onto a stool at the counter, giving Agnes a nod when she waved at him.
Agnes went into the back and after a few murmurs, he assumed a new waitress would be serving him.
Looking to the right, two familiar faces came into view. His eyes widened, hands fumbling for the photo in his blazer pocket. After (Y/n) died he made a habit of keeping it around; felt wrong to go without it. He looked between the picture to the children.
The doors from the back opened up and a painfully familiar woman stepped through. She smiled at two kids, ruffling the boy’s dark hair and pinching at the girl’s cheek before going over to Five.
(Y/n) shot him a grin, pulling a pad of paper from her uniform, “What can I get you today?”
Five didn’t answer immediately, stare fixated on the living, breathing, not-dead woman in front of him. Unlike in their years together, her skin was less dirt-covered, hands less crusted in ash and soil, hair more well-kept. She seemed healthy, happy. After realizing he was staring for far too long, he cleared his throat, pocketing the photo, “Sorry, I’ll have a coffee. Black.”
“No donuts?” she teased, “I know they’re not top-of-the-line, but I never miss an opportunity to snag a few for my kids,” she pointed her pen in the kids’ direction.
“Well, I suppose I could get…” he looked over the menu before continuing, “a lemon jelly donut.”
(Y/n) wrote down the order, “Funny, that’s my son’s favorite.”
“What a coincidence,” of course, he knew that. He knew it fifty times over.
Nodding, she tore off the paper before walking towards the back, stopping at the two kids. The tiny glances from both child in his direction made it obvious he had been mentioned. Giving Joan and Lacy each a kiss on the forehead, (Y/n) made her way to the back kitchen.
Lacy looked between her older brother and the strange boy before getting down from her stool and skipping over to the brunette. She gave him a broad, pearly smile, “Hi.”
Five smiled slightly, turning in his seat to look at the girl properly, “Hello.”
Joan followed after his sister, smiling apologetically to the boy about his age while taking the girl’s hand, “I’m sorry about her.”
“No, she’s fine,” he waved off the other boy’s sympathies, “She's pretty adorable.”
(Y/n) returned from the back, carefully setting down the steaming coffee followed by Five’s donut, “Hope my kids aren’t bothering you. They like making friends with the customers.”
He shook his head, “Not a problem.”
Joan slid onto the stool beside Five, holding his baby sister in his lap, “Haven’t seen you around here before.”
Five nodded slowly, wrapping both hands around his warm cup, already feeling his headache begin to dissipate, “I used to come here a lot when I was younger.”

fangirling (spoiler alert if you haven’t watched TUA)
Okay so maybe I’m just making wayyy too much of a big deal out of this, but the fact that the Umbrella Academy actually gives the villains/hitmen/opposing sides personalities and things they want and reasons for being on the side they’re on and sometimes changing which side they fight for, but sometimes not and for their own valid reasons that are outside of just some sort of “hatred for five”??? Like, how the members of the opposing sides having backstories and feelings and opinions is canon? Truly Iconic
Like, besides the Handler (who still has a complex personality and clearly some mental health stuff going on just like the rest of everyone else) people on the opposing side still have their own individual motives and dreams, just like people on the protagonist side!
Like in S1 with Hazel and Cha Cha being the main hitmen/opposing side and being best friends? In the end, they still chose to fight each other but dang that was hard for them! Hazel’s whole side story with the lady who works at the donut shop (Agnes) who wants to be a birdwatcher and the two of them wanting to run away and be birdwatchers and run their own vegan donut shop in a place without worries or pain or troubles and Hazel not wanting to have to tell Agnes that the world is supposedly going to end soon because he loves her too much to watch her worry and everyone wants Hazel and Agnes to get to live a good life free of troubles even though for the longest time Hazel was considered to be the opposing side? That was beautiful and realistic which is kind of awesome to say for this fiction/sci-fi kinda universe. Cha Cha in the end chooses her job over any kind of life but that isn’t over some kind of “evil” inside of her or direct hatred for five, she chooses to be a hitman because she loves to work, she loves getting to have this job that she can be committed to, she loves getting to be hardworking and for her being a hitman is her “hard, honest work” that gives her a bed to sleep in and food to eat and that’s what she could dream of, having a job is what gives her joy. What a queen! Kinda like Five, wouldn’t ya say? Very committed to the work she has and putting all sentiment aside for the sake of doing what she’s discovered she’s meant to do. She died committed to her job because some people just truly love working and that’s okay.
In S2 with the Swedish brothers? Oh. My. Gosh. When the first of the three brothers died because of the Hargreeves, when the Swedes were still in every way considered a villain at this point and were plotting against the Hargreeves because that was their job given to them by the Handler, and the show still dedicated an entire scene to show the funeral the two other brothers gave their brother, putting what was left of him in a boat and sailing it off while a Swedish version of Hello by Adele played in the soundtrack and the brothers cried and genuinely mourned the loss of their brother instead of apathetically leaving him there like most shows and films depict hitmen and villains when they lose one of their own? That scene was beautifully done. They depicted the life of three brothers from a different country who felt other-ed and very alone, having to lose one of their flesh and blood, who they genuinely loved. Cinematically, the scene was beautiful, and dealt with in such a tender way. When Allison rumored one of the Swedish brothers to kill his other brother with his bare hands, when he came to and realized what he’d done and was considering hurting himself because he’d hurt his brother and he felt no humanity left inside of him even though he didn’t choose to do that to his brother, when he just left because he didn’t consider killing his brothers anything worth fighting anyone for. The entire scene that showed him sitting alone in the home where he and his two brothers had lived before and looking at the picture of the three of them as kids with their mama, mourning so deeply that he was paralyzed.
Lila does literally everything for her parents who she lost, she wants to know who killed her parents so she can avenge them.
TUA gives the villains/opposing sides humanity. TUA doesn’t give into the fear of making fans sometimes dislike or not support the protagonist and instead chooses to display all characters as flawed humans who have their own intentions for the same human reasons. And for some reason, that makes me really really happy.

Late Night Donut-Five x reader☔🍩
This is my first Five x male reader! But as always you can read it despite your gender.
Tumblr media
☂☂☂☂☂☂☂
I'm in desperate need of a donut. I buttoned up my jacket as I began walking down the streets and thankfully Griddy's wasn't that far from my home. It was already dark and I had finished doing the daily chores so doing all that left me wanting something to eat. As I neared the doors I saw that that place was almost empty. An older man was sitting up ahead and a younger guy about my age. I sat down two seats away from them since I've never been good to start a conversation. Agnes the lady who works here recognized me and smiled. "(Y/N)! The usual for you I assume?" She asked and I nodded my head. "Same as usual." I replied and the lady chuckled. "I'll be right back with your order mister." Agnes went back and starts preparing an order of waffles with some black coffee. I sat still and glanced at the young guy sitting next to me. I quickly looked away when I noticed he was staring at me. Don't panic it's just a normal..but good looking guy. The guy smirked to himself and took a sip of his warm coffee. "Its nice to see someone young likes to hang out at this dump, it's refreshing. My brothers and I used to sneak out at nights and eat as many donuts as we could be for puking." I ignored the first thing he said but chuckled at the end and turned to face him. "Yeah? How many brothers you got?" "Seven including myself. It can be a real shit show when we're together in a room." He sipped his coffee again and smirked again and held his hand out for a handshake. "The name is Five." I stared at him weirdly and raised an eyebrow, I decided against it to ask why he was named like that, so instead I told him mine. "(Y/N), Nice to meet you." I responded and Agnes came over and handed me my order. Hungrily I started eating it which made Five next to me chuckle in amusement. "Carefult not to choke kid." Kid? We're the same age? Though some people do say it just because. I lowly burped and was about to ask if he'd like to try the try the freshly made waffles. Right when he was about to respond some men entered the diner and began to aim their weapons at Five?! "Take cover kid!" Five grabbed my arm and made me hide under a table. I felt my heart pounding from the amount of excitement I was feeling right now. Some weird police guys were firing at Five as he magically teleported behind one and attacked him. I dodged my head when a bullet almost hit me but the smile remained on my face. He looks so badass fighting those guys. I stared at him fascinated and didn't even flinch when one of the guys was thrown on top of the table where I was and his body fell limp. The diner was now in complete silence again and I saw Five up ahead panting and cleaning the blood he had on him. He walked up and took the last bit of coffee he had. "You alright kid-" "That was amazing!" Five looked at me like weird and raise a single eyebrow. "Who were those guys?! Did you get yourself hurt if so I can help you. How did you learn to be so badass, you ended them like they were no big deal." I count contain my excitement any longer and to this Five chuckled and crossed his arms over his chest and kept his light eyes on mine. "Those, kid, were sent by the commission since they are searching for me." So people are looking for him and yet neither could even touch him. "Daddy dearest taught me how to fight which is the reason I ended them so quickly.  Any other questions, kid?" I have so many but I dont want to bother him, I might annoy him and he'll leave. We looked back and saw the man and Agnes hiding behind the counter. "Well I'll see you around then." Five gave me a smile for a split second and was out the doors. I took some money out of my pockets left some on the counter and ran out the diner and luckily Five wasn't far from me. "Y-You know..I also have a superpower." Five let's me go on when he stays quiet. ..I can make great coffee." I nervously smile and see Five looking at me with a serious expression on his face. Five punched the bridge of his nose and I see him laughing to himself. "You're a weird one kid..I like you. Come along then, (Y/N)." He turned around and I started doing a small dance and ran up ahead and walked beside Five. I can't wait to know the things Five does for a living. Maybe I can become a sort of side kick if things happen this regularly to him!

Day 3: Childhood

@fivevanya
Title: Say You’ll Remember Me
He was supposed to fix things. He was supposed to be able to stop the apocalypse, return to his family, keep them safe. But he failed. Now they were stuck, in some alternate dimension, or timeline, or universe, and they were all back in their teenage bodies.
When Five realized how badly he’d fucked up getting them to safety, only intending to go back a week or so, maybe even just a day, but instead got them lost somewhere else, he started counting how many things they already had working against them.
Number one, they had no fucking clue when or where they were.
Number two, he had no idea if they were even still in the same timeline or not.
Number three, Vanya’s powers were still a huge question mark to them.
Number four, Five had no way of getting them to the right time at the moment.
Number five, he had no clue when or if The Commission was going to rear its head, again.
Number six, they were currently seven teenagers wandering aimlessly, with no guardian present, drawing them unneeded attention.
And number seven, which was debatably the worst of all, their father was alive again.
There were a few pluses to their current predicament. Firstly, Ben was alive again. Secondly, they were all still alive. Thirdly, at least for Five, they were all physically the same age again, even if he’d always be decades older than them mentally. Fourthly, they were still all together, and not thrown aimlessly across time. And fifthly, it seemed that Vanya was no longer stuck in whatever trance her powers had trapped her in.
Granted that when they’d first landed, Vanya was still unconscious so they hadn’t known that at first. And Luther and Diego, being the idiots they were, still were hesitant about letting their sister, who’d only just found out she had powers in the past week and had incidentally lost control of said newly discovered powers, live. Thankfully for Vanya, who was still unconscious at the time, Allison, Klaus, Ben and Five had all heavily disagreed with Luther and Diego’s suggestion that they kill their sister, so Vanya was still with them.
When they hadn’t landed at The Academy, their group also had to figure out where to go. Unsurprisingly, Luther’s first idea was to go back to Dad, which was quickly shot down. Especially when Ben asked someone where they were, only to find out they’d landed all the way in Dallas, Texas in 1960. So even if they did return to their father, he wouldn’t know who they were. And telling him would fuck with the timeline so badly it hurt Five’s head just thinking about it.
Within a day of landing in Dallas, a much older Hazel found them, inviting them to come with him to a farm he and Agnes had gotten three decades earlier, when they’d escaped the 2019 apocalypse. When one of his siblings, likely Klaus considering Allison still couldn’t talk, asked Hazel about his ‘donut lady’ the former Commission agent told them that she’d died a few years earlier, dying from cancer.
Hazel provided them with a much needed home base while Five tried to figure out an equation to get his siblings back to 2019, preferably after their father died and keeping Ben alive. Unsurprisingly it was already giving Five a massive migraine trying to figure it out.
It had taken nearly two full days after they’d landed for Vanya to wake up. Specifically to gasp awake with a scream on her lips, tears streaming down her face, and a migraine nearly as bad as Five’s already set in. Five and Hazel had been the only ones in the house when she’d woken up, the rest of their siblings had been assigned tasks to attend to on the farm and were quite occupied, and far away, when it had happened.
Vanya’s scream had jolted Five out of his thoughts, jumping into her room, ready to attack what or whoever was scaring her, only to find Vanya watching him, her cheeks soaked in tears and a look of pain and confused on her face. He hadn’t realized anything was wrong, it hadn’t even crossed his mind, until he reached out to comfort her, and Vanya flinched away from him.
“Vanya?” Five asked, sure his confusion was evident in his voice but not caring about it one bit, “What’s wrong?”
Five thought, after spending over four decades in the apocalypse, and then more of his years at The Commission, there wasn’t much that could upset him. That was, until Vanya asked him, “Who are you?”
For a second, Five thought she was messing with him, some kind of payback for accidentally leaving her behind all those years ago. But when the fear stayed on her face, no laughter or smiles finding their way, Five felt like the rug had been pulled out from under him and a rock had been placed in his stomach. She really didn’t remember him.
“Vanya, it’s me. Five.” As he pleaded with her, hoping something he could say or do would get Vanya to remember him, “I’m your,” their different relationship would be too hard to explain, especially if she couldn’t remember anything about him, about them, “your brother.” Five felt his heart crack a bit more when he took a small step towards her, and Vanya moved away from him, even in just the slightest bit.
Five nearly jolted out of his skin when a hand pressed into his shoulder, before he remembered Hazel also had heard Vanya screaming. “Let me handle this Old-Timer.” Hazel said, giving a small gesture towards a still very scared Vanya, “Go get your siblings, try to tell them what’s going on.” Five gave Hazel a quick nod, and just before he jumped, Hazel added, “And make sure you all return quietly, we don’t want to scare her anymore than she already is.”
Fearing that he’d have to face the fact that his, Vanya, didn’t remember him if he stayed any longer,  Five jumped to the barn, expecting at least two of his siblings to be nearby as Hazel slowly and calmly approached Vanya.
When Five landed in the barn, he just about crashed into Ben and absolutely scarred the shit out of Klaus, who’d nearly jumped three feet in the air at his sudden appearance. “Five? What’s wrong?” Ben asked, “You look upset.”
Klaus ran out of the barn, getting Luther, Diego, and Allison while Ben talked to him. “There’s a problem. A very big problem. And I don’t know how bad it is. Or how to fix it.”
“What is it Five? What’s wrong?” Ben asked, concern creeping into his brother’s voice as Five’s vagueness towards whatever the issue that was upsetting him continued.
Five sighed, wishing he could’ve been with Vanya, needing her as his source of comfort, but that option, obviously, wasn’t available at the moment. Instead, Five told Ben, “Vanya doesn’t remember me.”
“What?” Klaus’s voice screeched from the doors of the barn, having returned with their other three siblings, “What do you mean Vanya doesn’t remember you? Does she remember any of us? Or anything? Does she know who she is? Does she remember what happened? Does she-”
“Klaus,” Diego hissed, pulling their brother’s arm, “stop talking.”
“I, I don’t know.” Five admitted, surprising his siblings, considering he prided himself on knowing as much as possible and always more than his siblings in any given situation, “I don’t know how bad it is, or how much she does or doesn’t remember. And I don’t know how to fix it.”
Ben put a comforting hand on his shoulder, much like Hazel had a few moments earlier, “Five, you don’t have to fix this alone.” Ben told him, “You have us, for help.”
Before, Five would’ve never flat-out accepted anyone’s help, especially his siblings’ but now, he needed all the help he could get. This was, Vanya was, far too important to him to fuck it up. Five nodded, muttering a quick “Thanks.” before instructing his siblings to follow him back to the farmhouse, emphasising their need to be quiet as they did so.
They, as quietly as possible, made their way up the two flights of stairs to the attic Vanya and Allison had been sharing. Five slowly opened the door with a click, seeing Hazel still sitting on the edge of the bed by Vanya, who’d moved from the opposite corner from the man to being a few inches from him, looking completely at ease.
But when her eyes moved from Hazel to the six of them, or maybe just him, Vanya’s entire body was consumed in tension and fear, trying to hide behind Hazel. Five wished he could’ve heard whatever Hazel whispered in Vanya’s ear that caused all the tension that had suddenly arose in her body to melt away. And despite hiding herself away from view, for the most part staying behind Hazel, Vanya’s eyes jumped between the six of them, not lasting on any of them for particularly long.
“Vanny?” Klaus called, deciding to be the first one to say something, taking a few cautious steps towards their sister, “Do you know who I am? Or any of us?” Klaus stopped approaching the bed when Vanya started to shift away from him as he moved closer.
There was a tense beat of silence that filled the room, Five felt as if his heart was pounding out of his chest, while they all waited for Vanya to reply as Vanya watched Klaus with some fascination. In the seconds that Vanya hadn’t answered, Five wasn’t sure if it would be better or worse if she didn’t remember any of them. It would hurt less if it wasn’t just him.
When Vanya gave Klaus a minute headshake, Five didn’t want to say he was relieved it wasn’t just him that she couldn’t remember; but it also hadn’t eased the pain in his heart. There were a few more hesitant questions that Vanya had been asked, most receiving a silent nod or headshake, a few one or two word answers sprinkled in.
After a few more questions had been asked, Hazel shooed them out of the room, leaving Vanya alone for a little bit, as she’d been getting a bit overwhelmed and frustrated with all the questions and lack of answers she had for them. The Hargreeves and Hazel moved down to the small living room, or maybe it was only small because there was seven people in it, as they talked about some sort of plan to handle Vanya’s new found amnesia.
“Do you think if we just said, or do, the right thing it’ll just,” Klaus started, making some odd gestures as he waved his arms around, “trigger something? Like make her remember?”
“But, isn’t it better?” Luther asked, “That she doesn’t remember certain things. So she’s not so-”
“Murderous?” Diego hissed, a glare set upon his face. But he still got a smack on his arm from an equally angry looking Allison, who was giving him a rather annoyed look.
His idiotic siblings bickered back and forth for another 10 minutes before Hazel got the Hargreeves to shut up and listen to him, much like Five wanted to, but likely would’ve done so in a much blunter manner, as Hazel explained to them what he believed was happening, what likely caused it, and what might fix it. Fix her.
When a second round of bickering start between his siblings, Five hadn’t bothered paying attention to them this time, much more interested in keeping his brain cells, instead Five slipped out of the room, intending to casually wait near Allison and Vanya’s room. Just as he reached the very top steps, only two or three of them left, Five nearly crashed into the only person that could’ve possibly been in the top of the farmhouse. Vanya.
She, after also realizing she’d nearly run into him, jumped back a bit, an annoyingly familiar look of panic in her eyes. The same look she’d get forever ago; the scared, timid little girl with a desperate need for approval and acceptance seared into her every being. Desperately, and naively, hoping that her own siblings would acknowledge her, at least for one second.
But now, there was entirely different reason for her scared looks. And it wasn’t because of a fear of rejection.
It was because, she didn’t know them. She didn’t even know anything about herself beyond her own name, according to what Hazel told them in their little meeting.
No lonely childhood, filled with constant reminders of her supposed ‘ordinaryness’ or insults from her siblings. No traumatic week, full of betrayal, abandonment, pain and a murderous ex-boyfriend. Him abandoning her, accidentally of course, in the academy, with their father and uncaring, besides Ben and on occasion Klaus, siblings. No memories of rainy days spent in the library, nights sneaking out to Griddy’s, or the stolen moments in time together. Their life together. Nothing.
“Five?” Vanya, “Are you okay?”
For one of the few times in his life, Five stumbled over his words, struggling to keep his thoughts the slightest bit organized as he replied, “Um, ye-yeah. Do you-”
“Remember anything?” Vanya guessed, a half smile trying to hide away on her face before dropping into a sullen frown, “No. Not yet at least.”
Five gave her a small nod, making sure she knew he was listening to her, giving her even the smallest amount of his attention, before asking, “If you don’t remember anything, then how did you know my name?”
She lamely gave him a shrug, a move Vanya often did when she didn’t want to explain. But, when he gave her a questioning look, with an added light nudge to her shoulder, Vanya explained, “I don’t know, really. I just, saw you, I guess. And I just, knew.”
Instead of wondering why, when she’d seen him before, either times, that hadn’t triggered whatever part of her mind that now was letting her remember. Five instead asked her, “Where were you going?” which wouldn’t answer any of the questions he wanted to ask her. That he needed to ask her. He needed her.
“Oh, um, I was,” Vanya, much like Five had a few moments earlier, stumbled over her words as she explained, “I was just going to go get a glass of water.” And before his mind realized what his body was doing, Five jumped into the kitchen and filled a glass with water for her and reappeared in front of her.
It wasn’t until after he’d already used his powers another two times in front of her that he thought it might’ve freaked her out in the slightest bit. Five readied himself, closing his eyes, waiting for her to jump away from him, fearing him. Instead, small, warm fingers wrapped themselves around his wrist, the one not holding the glass of water. “Five?” The glass slid from his hands, into one of her’s, leaving his hand cold from the water but empty. “Thank you.”
He cracked his eyes open as he heard two feet scurrying away from him, the occasional wooden board creaking, followed by the bedroom door clicking shut. Five knew she’d just left him, figuratively slipping through the cracks of his fingers again. But, for once, it was her leaving him, rather than him always leaving her behind. Abandoning her, when she needed him most.
For a brief second, he thought he was back. Back there. Dirt sneaking into his lungs, smoke causing his eyes to water. Desperation filling every fiber of his being. Desperate to return to his family, to save them from their deaths. Desperate to escape the apocalypse. Desperate to survive. Desperate. Needing her more than ever.
More than he’d ever admit.
The door clicked again, the hinges squeaking a bit as Vanya pulled it open, her head poking out into the hallway. “Five?” she called his name and he was in front of her in an instant, ready to do whatever she wanted him to do, “Can you, lay, in the bed, with me? I’m scared.” He was already going to agree, knowing how nightmares would stave off any sleep she could get for days at a time; but when, in a whisper she added, “I don’t want to be alone.”
He could’ve easily jumped into the room, landing on or near the bed, even bringing Vanya with him. Instead, Five gently wrapped his hand around one of hers, walking into the room when she shuffled over, and lead Vanya with him to the bed. He crawled in first, moving to the farther side of the bed, giving Vanya the choice of joining him or fleeing. He’d understand either way.
Five was, however, extraordinarily happy when Vanya slid into the bed with him seconds after he’d settled in, sliding much closer to him than he’d expected. There were a few moments, as they laid in the bed together, silently, that they just watched each other. Five could see Vanya’s eyelids growing heavier by the second, her eyes sliding shut before snapping open again.
“Go to sleep Vanya, I’ll be here when you wake up.” Five told her.
Vanya looked at him through half-closed eyes, far too tired to keep them open a moment longer, giving him a very doe-eyed look, whispering, “Promise?”
“Promise.” Five answered.
He watched as Vanya snuggled into the covers, closer to him, closing her eyes with a soft smile on her face as she said, “Goodnight Five.”
“Goodnight Vanya.” Five replied, a light laugh escaping him, a soft smile making its way onto his face.
What he hadn’t expected was for Vanya to tell him, “I love you Five.” right before falling asleep. And it’s not like he’s going to wake her up just to ask Vanya what that meant.
Rather, Five just sighed, began carding one of his hands through her hair, whispering back, “I love you too Vanya.”

something each episode has me wondering is, the commercial lady: does she have a bigger role in everything or is she just a random civilian making the commercials? idk i might be reading into it too much but i feel like there’s gonna be an even bigger twist no one expects since almost everyone suspected agnes was agatha
reading too much into things is my specialty *cries in virgo*
part 1: commercial lady
no matter how much i theorize, i really can’t seem to figure out how she could be involved in the overall storyline. we all figured she and her male counterpart were stand-ins for wanda’s parents to help convey her past trauma, but now it seems like she’s actually reflecting wanda herself.
but even then, it’s still unclear if she has anything to do with all that’s going down in westview. maybe marvel wanted to throw in some fun easter eggs for us to enjoy, maybe they actually mean something to the whole living-in-a-sitcom trope (*cough* i could write an essay on how nexus fits into that *cough*), maybe it’s nothing. there’s only a couple of episodes left before we get answers, so here’s to hoping this one’s one of them 🤞🏼
part 2: the twist
honestly, talking about plot twists within plot twists makes me feel like benoit blanc from knives out — the donut has a hole in the center and when you find the donut hole that fits in that hole, you see that that donut has a hole in its center. or… something like that.
like you said, we knew it was coming, and i don’t know, to me the agnes reveal just raised a lot more questions, a lot of why’s.
i don’t want to make this q&a longer than it needs to be, so throughout the week leading up to the new episode, i’ll try to post as many of my theories on this whole debacle as i can. all i’ll say for now is that if years of being in the mcu fandom has taugh us anything, it’s to never trust anything that has obvious signs of…

tua s1 rewatch with my roommate
episode one (I forgot for the first episode oops):
I have been treated to pictures of a lovely cosplay of Klaus who won a cosplay contest my roommate was in !!
Klaus putting his arm in front of Five during the funeral fight is good shit
“I have heard like nothing about Vanya” “yeah that’s pretty much how she’s treated in show as well”
“I can see why he’s the fandom favorite” - about Klaus
“Istanbul is in the firST EPISODE?”
I forGOT about the “rapists can climb” line when he breaks into Vanya’s apartment omg but also like,, his dumb arm wound
Episode two:
HERR CARLSON
Aww baby fives first time travel his little smile. Baby. Baby boy. And the dawning horror in the apocalypse baby nO
Five: you got anything stronger
Also five: takes one sip and then fills up more, takes another sip, and then immediately puts it down ?????
The motel dude for hazel and cha cha just looks at them like “yeah these are serial killers” and just rolls with it
Also actually why tf doesn’t the commission spring for better stuff?? Why would they cut costs?? They time travel? They could game the stock market so hard ?????? Give the assassins their own rooms omg
Also why didn’t five like. Crush his tracker. Why did he just leave it whole and intact outside of the Griddys.
Forgot how much I love Agnes
(Oh man it is storming bad here it just BOOMED)
Also idk if Diego actually deserved that taser hmmmmm but also like,, communication lads five was literally right there killing people and Diego is like “hmm something is up here” like. Yeah Diego ur big brother “I can get my sibling in trouble for something” senses are tingling
Wow I really did repress all these Allison and Luther scenes huh. Also it’s still super cute that Allison read Claire moon books
Allison: dads heart gave out, which wasn’t how I was expecting to find out dad had a heart but it tracks
“SHUT YOUR PIEHOLE BEN... said with love 😘”
Did five actually sleep at Vanyas?? The sofa looks undisturbed but he had to wait for work hours to interrogate the meritech people,, five,, please sleep. The whole “IF YOU CALL ME YOUNG MAN ONE MORE TIME” interaction makes more sense with five on. Zero sleep.
I didn’t remember that Patch straight up knows about the umbrella academy oops. Like she clocks Diego as overcompensating for his childhood. Queen
Is that an umbrella adademy Diego cross stitch on Diego’s wall?? Did he buy that? Make it?? Did grace make it?
Vanya, walking into the academy: five??? five? pspspspspsps
Also like. Who was Vanyas therapist??? Clearly they did not help her
Aww the tow truck driver :(
I know the show wants me to dislike Patrick I KNOW,, and I think her fathers funeral is extenuating circumstance?? But still Patrick is valid for not giving an inch regarding his ex who mind controlled his child. Vanya didn’t really deserve Allison snapping at her but like. She had some good points. Allison arguably would have had to deal with vanyas book more than anyone else
Five smiling proudly at Klaus’s drama at meritech bless but also KLAUS DONT BREAK GLASS ON YOURSELF
Me, spotting Leonard: BASTARD
Love how everyone greets Diego in the gym and don’t question all his knives or anything like “yeah that’s Diego he lives here and loves knives :)”
Why could Leonard have not been like. A normal ass guy. Vanya needs friends who sympathize with her holy shit get this person some socialization
Pogo really did have to lead these kids by hand to the recording rooms because literally no one was super invested in reginalds ~murder mystery~
ahafahJAGSJWGAI MY ROOMMATE JUST SAID POGO IS THE BEST CHARACTER SO FAR,,,, I will probably never include pogo in my fics because I do Not Care About Him lmaoooo
Aww five does to see Dolores and being like “it’s been a rough couple of days :(“,,,,, baby,,,, but also tag yourself I’m hazel going “elastic wrist splint yesssssss”
Five I am begging you PLEASE get some sleep
OH FIVE SHAKING DIEGO IN THE APOCALYPSE TO TRY AND WAKE HIM UP OHHHHH OH :(
Episode 3:
my roommate is super faceblind which is an issue bc she identifies people mainly by hairstyle so seeing the s2 stuff on tumblr is tripping her over bc she keeps seeing diego and going ??? who is that again? bc she’s seen his longer hair
okay there is no way that the eggs that grace put in that pan are the ones that ended up on the smiley face breakfast plate,,, but also grace that whole scene was a mood honestly i would be like “okay maybe mom killed dad BUT he deserved it sooooo”
“what the FUCK” - my roommate about cha-cha’s shitty wound care where she holds a curling iron against her arm
i didn’t remember that five got shOT AT THE DEPARTMENT STORE did i just erase that from my memory?? i mean yeah it’s a graze but he stitches it up and then slaps a bandaid on it so he has a wound that needed stitches on his shoulder for the entire show ??????? is he okay???? that would make moving your arm,,, painful,,,,,
a bandaid just slapped over it i’m actively yelling
“Sometimes when I see a million gifs of a show before I watch I get really surprised when they talk but he is exactly what I expected” - my roommate, about five
“I noticed they’ve only really showed diego in really badly lit scenes so far” - my roommate defending her lack of ability to recognize diego
i’m still laughing about pogo literally having to point out the murder tapes and now allison and luther are investigating and just. allison is lowkey defending grace and i’m laughing
“why is he saying woodwork is embarrassing that’s like one of the most middle of the wood hobbies to have. you’re respectable to grandpas who used to carve wooden ducks AND twenty-year-olds who can’t make anything to save their lives” - my roommate on leonard peabody
“i think he’s already crossing some lines he’s met this lady ONCE” - roommate on leonard/vanya
five having flashbacks in the car :(
did allison and luther draw straws for who went to fetch which sibling?? allison was like “dibs on vanya” and luther was just like “aww :(”
five luther and klaus in the van - BOYS NIGHT BOYS NIGHT let’s go pick up diego
“the coat he’s wearing does have a nice swish to it” - roommate about klaus’s coat
luther being like “you’re just as messed up as the rest of us and we’re all you have” like luther,,, baby,,,,, you literally ARE all he has,,,,,, his family is the only thing he’s really cared about since he was thirteen and maybe before then :(
“I can’t tell if those are supposed to be cake or yeast donuts... i think extruded donuts are cake donuts but she said she lets them rise so maybe they’re yeast?” - my roommate focusing on all the things that i do not
sometimes i forget that hazel and cha-cha pretended to be private detectives trying to find a lost child in a potentially dangerous situation,,, five would be disgusted
“she shouldn’t get a vote” “i was gonna say i agree with you” “she should get a vote!!” this is peak sibling energy honestly i think i’ve had that exact interaction with my siblings voting for a movie or something
“hashtag android rights”
“I want to be the tailor who gets a call one day that says ‘i want you to make clothes for a chimpanzee”
is it telling that only luther in the flashback didn’t really talk to grace at all,, i mean five didn’t either but i think he was gone by that point in the flashback ????
wait diego tells grace that she worked for him for thirty years,,, the kids are 29 and later it’s implied she was built bc vanya kept killing nannies when they were like four but maybe s2 clarifies that some more?? or diego just is rounding up
“that’s an interesting fabric to her skirt” - my roommate about grace’s outfit
forgot that hazel and cha cha broke the door to the manor busting in,, do they ever fix that?? we’re only at episode three do they spend the rest of the season with their door open to anyone on the streets
okay that bathtub is WAY too small to allow for klaus to be moving his elbows about like that underwater smh
“how is HE useful on mission??” my roommate about klaus
where is the SECURITY SYSTEM??? luther LITERALLY said that reggie was more paranoid and yet some assassin can just bust down the door and have unrestricted access????? he built a whole ROBOT but no security system????????
“maybe it was like,, practice for the kids? someone breaks in and they take care of it? wait no that doesn’t explain the thirteen years they’ve been gone?”
“why WAS he on the moon?” - about luther
“I want to see what she’s embroidering!!” about grace during the gunfight in the living room she’s absolutely ignoring diego getting shot at
what is a rope-a-dope,,,, diego yells “EVER HEARD OF A ROPE-A-DOPE???” at luther but like. no i haven’t. what does that MEAN diego
aww i forgot they played sinnerman, love that song
“what are you doing dude, rumor has it you’re not shooting at me that’s all you need to do” i mean. the roommate is not wrong. allison could just end the fight with a yell. i understand she’s pissed off and has rumor trauma but like cha cha is actively trying to murder them
how is luther not winning he literally has super strength. does hazel have super strength? just punch the man and knock him out jesus y’all suck at this smh
why is there such intense music we all been knew about luther’s strength - oH HIS BODY
forgot about that
is it allison’s fault that klaus got kidnapped because she didn’t literally just rumor them to give up?? like she literally has that power. she could have been like “i heard a rumor you left and forgot about us” it didn’t even need to be violent?? i understand she has rumor trauma but this i feel is allowable circumstances
diego showing his worry about vanya by getting angry which honestly i think all the siblings do that rip none of these idiots have even heard of healthy communication in their LIVES
you know,, i don’t think vanya can drive. she takes the bus. she took a taxi to leonard’s house. we see her walking a lot. does she know how to drive?? i imagine that the umbrella academy were taught bc of mission related stuff but,,, vanya wasn’t?? that’s just depressing tbh

pls. pls tell more about the au.
more highschool shenanigans comin up
their age order is the same as in canon post-s2 (with the exception of ben): five the oldest, then klaus, allison, ben, luther, diego and vanya
a lot of canon events have a parallel in the au
the veteran bar fight is diego and klaus sneaking into a house party and starting a fight
ben "dying" is actually just him going to the hospital cuz he has appendicitis
klaus is the one who makes it into a rumour that hes dead
allison has a gossip blog where she spills tea mostly on her siblings when they annoy her
her and diego get in a fight and she reveals he still sleeps with a teddy bear and he holds a grudge for months
they have a chore chart but lots of negotiations go on for trading chores
its an unspoken rule that if you fuck with one hargreeves you have to deal with all six of their siblings and probably their terrifyingly sweet mother too
diego had a skateboarding phase to impress lila who rollerskates
literally all of them use fives room as a hangout spot he is in despair
at any given moment at least one hargreeves is being kicked out of their room so that one of their siblings can make out with their partner (its usually ben being evicted from his and klauses room)
grace made pride cupcakes anytime one of her kids came out and she insists that their partners are always welcome
cuz like sissy and dave dont have the most accepting families so grace fusses over them enough that shes essentially got two more kids
klaus dyes his hair hot pink at multiple points
the "his name was dave" scene is just klaus walking into diegos room and flopping down on his bed (taking up 90% of it) and whining about how much he likes dave
diego does not want to help but klaus insists because "diego you and allison are the only other people in this house who like guys you Have to help me :((" and diegos like You Think I Can Flirt With Guys
(cuz we have a hc that diegos bi but has no fucking clue how to hit on men)
diegos advice boils down to just dont ask him to get high with you after school and klaus nods solemnly and then asks dave to get high with him after school
their wifi is truly awful its a nightmare
the hargreeves are pack animals if you see one of them theres usually at least two more close behind
diego fully gets obsessed with the jfk assassination after they study it in history. he creates powerpoints. he consumes far too much caffeine. he accuses five of killing the president
five is sat there like I Am Seventeen
allison vanya and five play catch with the familys shared brain cell none of the others know they have one
the commission is a fancy private school five got a scholarship to but transferred away from after not very long cuz he missed his family
hazel and chacha teach there and hazel falls for agnes the sweet lunch lady at the hargreeves school who gives them free donuts
the handler is a karen
she gets lila to hang out with the hargreeves in the hopes of getting graces brownie recipe cuz shes sick of grace showing her up at pta meetings
lila does get the brownie recipe but only cuz she gets diego to make weed brownies with her (she does not give it to her mum)
this is getting long so ill leave it there for now but im pretty sure theres more. for another post perhaps
