You were the nicest out of the straw hats. The kindest soul, never did anything to piss off anyone. You didn’t necessarily like to fight, but if it was needed it was needed.

You took care of everyone. Nami always joked about how you’re the ‘mother’ of the group. You were there to help in the kitchen with Sanji, or even Chopper on the clinic. You watered Nami’s tangerines whenever she was stressed about the other straw hats. Or running around with Usopp and his weird inventions. You get gist.

Although, particularly with Luffy. You were extra soft and patient. He was crazy in your eyes, but that didn’t stop him from melting your heart. You shared food with him, just to see his eyes light up and the corner of his mouth to turn upwards. Even when Sanji told him to stop sneaking food, you would secretly take some and give it to him later that day.

No one wanted to ever harm you, knowing if Luffy was pissed it would be the end for them. You went along with his shenanigans, being there for him whenever you could. Even though he didn’t show it often, he could get stressed. But a nice nap on the side of the boat in the sun together always fixed it!

Now, being BEYOND nice had its perks. But what if you snapped?

It was a warm day on the sunny. Everyone sat around in peaceful silence; despite Usopp, chopper, and Luffy running around. And Nami yelling at them to be quiet. It was peaceful.

Before a marine ship decided to pop up and ruin that.

You were in the middle of it all. Having a heated yelling battle with the marine captain was not fun. You were started to get heated at all of the insults that were said. And you don’t know why.

“You need to calm down lady! All of your friends are pirates! And so are you! Just a bunch of lowlifes.” The captain yelled over at you.

“Why don’t you shut your mouth!” You were attempting to cross over towards the other ship. Not having any devil fruit or any particular qualities, it was rather difficult.

“Your captain is a loser! A fake! He won’t get anywhere!” Luffy, occupied with another member did not hear this. You fumed. The rest of the crew were struggling. Usopp was running out of ideas, and Chopper was hiding behind Zoro.

“My captain happens to be the best out there!” Using your hands to cup over your mouth and shout back. Tears welting up in your eyes. You were frustrated.

“Wahh wahh little girl! That’s why he can’t even beat my strongest member! The whole crew is. nothing but weak!“ Noticing Luffy, who was just laughing and having fun, had no affect to this. So why did you care so damn much?

“What’s it to you? You don’t know any of us!” You glared at the man across from you, you wanted to just wipe that smug smirk off of his lips.

“Why don’t you come over here and do something about it?” Your heart was pumping. You climbed the ropes and landed on the opposite ship. “Y/n! Watch out!”

Luffy had called out to you. You whip your head around and see him toppled over by a marine guard. Oof that’s got to hurt.

You knew he was capable of taking care of himself so you turn back. You had someone to deal with.

You begin to trek towards the captain who held up his hands in a fighting position. Suddenly another marine came over and interrupted your fight. You bellowed. “Get off of me prick!” You punched the guy and he went skidding across the ship.

“So feisty. Are you mad I’m bullying your crew? Your weak weak friends.” You turned towards the guy. He was laughing. Oh how you wanted to slam his face into the floorboards. You run at him with all of your might. He dodged. “Ooiii! Y/n!” You heard from above.

You look up and see Luffy fly past you and into a wall. “See he can’t even do anything right.” The marine captain laughed in your face.

You snapped.

Something inside of you broke. Maybe it was from being nice all of the time, but you had so much hate in you. Your chest burned with rage. You ran at the captain, throwing the various marines that ran at you, overboard.

The other crew members watched in awe. They have never seen you this angry. Nor have they seen you ever really fight this hard. You caused explosions! Throwing whatever was in your way.

“Don’t. Say. That. About. Luffy.” You punched the captain repeatedly in the face. “Y/n!” A giggly voice said, pulling you out of the rage that consumed you.

“Luffy?” He smiled and waved at you. Distracting you.

The captain had picked you up and threw you overboard. You closed your eyes and braced for impact when you were suddenly pulled the opposite way.

“AHHH!”

You opened your eyes and noticed you were pulled against Luffys chest. He smiled widely at you as the two of you swung back towards your own ship. You wrapped your arms around him. “Luffy! I’m not finished!” You huffed. Trying to get out of his grip, not caring if you fall again.

He said nothing as you held on. He knew you were mad, he heard what was said, but didn’t think much of it, or why you even got so mad. “Luffy! Let me at that bitch of a man!!” Despite your protests he held on tight before setting you down next to Zoro, and going back to beat the rest up.

After the fight, you were still mad. You sat in the clinic in silence. Chopper took notice of this and decided to question. “You were very reckless out there today Y/n.” He started wrapping a bandage around your arm.

“Yeah.” You said coldly before softening after seeing Choppers face. “I just don’t want you guys to get hurt..or for people to say mean things..” Chopper hugged you tightly.

The door creaks open and Luffy walked in. Chopper excuses himself out seeing Luffys serious expression. Sitting next to you on the bed the two of you sat in silence before he suddenly embraced you. “Luffy?” Your face lit up with shock. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?” You tried to look at him to inspect.

He grabs your shoulders, holding you still and looks into your eyes. You were scared, he never was this serious. He looked worried..?

“Luffy..?”

“Don’t. Don’t ever do that again. Don’t ever get hurt again.” Luffy didn’t know the feeling in his chest he felt earlier on. When he brought you towards Zoro. His whole chest pounded in a anxious fear. After speaking to Nami about it, he came to you right away.

“Please.”

You hugged him once again, wrapping your arms around his waist and shoving your face in his chest. “You need to be careful too. You may be super strong, but but you can still get hurt!” You scolded. “You can’t just make me worry! Everyone calls you weak and i don’t like that because you aren’t!”

He laughs, breaking you out of your rant. His smile is back. “I promise!” You knew he meant it. But you also knew that he wouldn’t be at the same time. He was reckless. That’s who he was. He would protect everyone. Including you.

i feel like you are one of the only people ive seen that doesnt immediately believe gon fell in love with killua in the hunter exam arc. i feel like it's dismissive of his character, it bothers me. what are your thoughts?

Hi! Sorry for taking so long answering! I wanted to write a good answer to this because I do actually have a lot of thoughts about it, so thank you for the ask! This ended up really long and as more of an analysis on their relationship in general… I want to preface this by saying that everything in this post is simply my interpretation of the characters, and that it’s only one interpretation of many. Just because how someone else interprets their relationship is different from mine doesn’t mean I think they’re wrong, it just means we see them differently! If you read this post, I hope you are able to see my point of view!

Although Killugon is one of my favourite ships ever, introducing romantic feelings so early into their dynamic makes their relationship feel less meaningful to me. I think that their friendship is more narratively important than their romance — and I think that both of them would be okay with the other not returning their feelings because being together is more important to them than being together romantically.

One of the things that makes their relationship so special is their friendship!! Their friendship is the foundation of their relationship, and the romance exists on top of it, not before it. Although I don’t think that romantic feelings would necessarily change their motivations and actions, I do think that it would alter how the audience would perceive them! And when we look at their actions through a romantic lens, it changes how we view their motivations.

For example, to me, the reason Killua approached Gon at the beginning of the Hunter Exam and wanted to become friends with him isn’t because he had a crush on him at first sight, but because he wants to have a friend his age and to feel like a kid. Even if it’s that he developed a crush on him later in the exam, I think that the idea of him already having been attracted to Gon or even in love with him during the Hunter Exam takes away from the importance of friendship to Killua, since the climax of Killua’s character in this arc is when he declares that he just wants to be friends with Gon when he feels like he can’t even have that.

I don’t think Killua really thought that anyone would be willing to confront his family for him because that’s literally an insane thing to do?? But Gon did it!! And I think that Gon being that insane and willing to risk his life for Killua is what really dragged him out of the darkness and gave him the devotion to be insane right back at him. 

On the other hand, with Gon, I feel like, when viewed through a romantic lens, his motivation during the Zoldyck Family Arc typically becomes that he’s going after Killua because he’s already developed feelings for him in the Hunter Exam Arc, which as you may have guessed, I don’t agree with. To me, that was something he’d have done for any of his friends — if Kurapika or Leorio suddenly started acting strangely and had run off when it seemed clear to Gon that they didn’t want to leave, I think he’d have chased after them, too.

We know that Gon is the type of person who would even risk his life to try to save someone he barely knows (if he likes them), like on the boat on the way to the Hunter Exam! And if I’m being completely honest, I don’t think Killua was even a particularly special friend to Gon until partway through Heaven’s Arena… If Killua hadn’t followed him and they didn’t speak ever again, Killua would’ve just been someone cool that he’d met and that he would no longer think about, and I definitely don’t think he had any romantic feelings for him by then.

That’s not to say that Killua wasn’t someone he considered a friend, just that I think that, at the time, to Gon, it was like when you make a friend at summer camp and then you lose contact as soon as you part ways. And while to Killua, Gon’s actions during Zoldyck Family Arc gave him this unpayable debt and made Killua extremely devoted to Gon, I don’t think it meant that much to Gon because again, I think this is something that he’d have done for any of his friends. However, by the end of Heaven’s Arena, I do think Killua has become someone who is special to Gon — on Whale Island, Gon tells Killua that he’s his first friend his age, and more than that, he’s someone that he wants to stay with.

In that same scene, they tell each other that they’re their first friend (their age). To me, this is something that informs so much of their dynamic — they don’t know what being friends with someone “normally” looks like, which is part of why they’re so insane!! And because of this, it’s important to me that there is at least a small period of time before this where that’s all they were — friends, no romantic feelings involved. 

Their insanity extends to romance, but is not because of it — their friendship is the most important part of their relationship. This is why even during the needle scene, where I feel like I can say that I definitely think that Killua has feelings for Gon at this point (his reactions during the “it has to be Killua scene,” the “Gon, you are light scene,” etc.), the emphasis is on how Gon is precious to him because he’s his friend, even though he is probably in love with him.

That friendship foundation is so important to how I see Gon and Killua and honestly, beyond the whole “viewing their actions through a romantic lens changes how we perceive them” thing, I just… don’t see either of them as being in love by the end of the Hunter Exam! These reasons are why it’s important to how I interpret their characters for there to be a period of time where their feelings are purely platonic.

Also, as an add-on, personally, I think that there’s a chance that Gon doesn’t return Killua’s feelings in canon even at their separation since nothing that he’s done, said, or thought has felt as explicitly romantic in nature as Killua. BUT I really like the idea of Gon pining for Killua on Whale Island during their separation, haha. The earliest I can conceive of when Gon starts developing feelings for Killua is Greed Island and a lot of it has to do with the shift in their dynamic — it’s when Gon starts really saying things to demonstrate his appreciation of Killua!!

HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean I perceive his actions as romantic in nature from his perspective. For example, while “it has to be Killua” is a romantic line, I don’t think Gon said it with romantic intent (nor that he’d be aware of them yet if he did have them)! I think that that was more for Killua, as well as planting the seeds in the reader’s mind for their romance, rather than a confession from Gon. Plus, imagine if he’d confessed his feelings for Killua to TSEZGUERRA instead of Killua when Killua is RIGHT THERE…

The other reason why Greed Island is the time where I think Gon is most likely to have developed feelings for Killua is because I really don’t think he was focusing on Killua in the same way in Chimera Ant Arc and it’d be a strange point in their relationship for romantic feelings to develop to me… I can’t imagine any of the moments in Chimera Ant Arc as being one where Gon would have developed feelings for Killua, or where he would have realized them. I like the idea that his realization happens sometime either during or after the separation the most!

On the other hand, I think that Killua probably had feelings for Gon by the start of Greed Island and realized them either during the dodgeball match or the “Gon, you are light” scene because they had the most romantic undertones to me from Killua’s side :) and I think that Killua could have developed them at any point after the Zoldyck Family Arc. 

I think that the way that their relationship develops is so beautiful and subtle that the romance ultimately feels very ambiguous. I don’t think that there is one specific point where we can say that either of them developed or realized any romantic feelings for each other definitively, and I don’t think there are any ideas that are necessarily wrong about when either happened, just ones that don’t align with each other! There are only different interpretations and ones that don’t align with each other and this post is only representative of my personal interpretation :) I hope this answered your question, Anon! And thank you to anyone who was willing to read the entirety of this post. It ended up much, much longer (and perhaps, much, much, more off-topic from the original question) than I expected, haha!

I’m probably gonna get some hate for this but I dont really care because anyone who does that just proves they’re immature and can’t handle an opinion and/or facts. But let’s talk about Alastor ships.

There’s a lot of people who say that Alastor is canonically Aroace, and the fact is that he’s not. He’s canonically asexual, but vizziepop has not mentioned he’s aromantic as well.

Now I want to say this first and foremost, you CAN headcanon alastor as aroace, in fact as an aroace person myself I actively encourage it! It’s great! It’s fun! I understand the need/want to see a part of yourself in a character you enjoy!

But by saying he is something that he is canonically not only will create a negative and harmful space, those who WANT to ship alastor with someone will feel as if they can’t, that they don’t want to get attacked or hated on or made fun of, and that’s not fair to them for multiple reasons.

One being that if he WAS canonically aroace, aroace people can still date, it is quite literally a spectrum orientation, you have those who are willing to be open to dating with time, let’s just call this demiromantic or in the asexual case, demisexual, you have the people who are not at all open to dating, I’ve seen multiple names for this but mostly “loveless” and you also have the people who don’t necessarily want to date someone but love/care about them more than a friend, so you have queer platonic relationships.

These are all incredibly valid people and incredibly valid feelings and incredibly valid ways to date or to not date.

If vizziepop takes the direction, which I truly doubt she will to be honest, or if someone ships alastor with someone. They CAN do this, it’s not taking a canonically gay male character and shipping him with a woman, it’s taking a character who needs time and boundaries to develop a relationship. These are two totally different things.

I’ve seen this thing happen… not exactly consistently but almost enough, where people will see an asexual character and go “oh! They must be aro too!” And that is not valid, a character should be allowed to just be the one without people saying they SHOULD be the other, it’s harmful to the communities and nearly exclusionary to those who struggle with their identities already and trying to find out WHO they are HOW they feel about these things and once again, creates a confusing space for those trying to just enjoy their characters smooching.

So, if you want to write alastor having sex, you can do that, asexual people and their relationship with sex CANNOT be narrowed down to one type of stereotype of “oh, I don’t want to have it” which is VALID!! But it’s not the worldwide universal feeling, if you want to write alastor developing romantic feelings, however they may be, you can do that! If you want to write alastor being sexual and romantic averse. YOU CAN DO THAT.

But you have to do it in a way that is respectful and knowledgeable, state alastor became comfortable enough with his partner to have sexual acts, state that although he may not take a 100% physical role in sex but still wants to please his partner because he knows THEY enjoy sex and they come to an understanding and firm/respected boundaries.

And state that you don’t want to ship him, you don’t want him taking a role in sex, but just don’t be cruel about it; don’t attack people; don’t say he’s something he isn’t. Just say this is how you see him and respect others who don’t see him like that, I promise you they will understand that and respect it too.

I’m probably honestly wasting my time saying all of this considering it’s a character from an animated tv show, but it really bothers me when I see these people arguing when it does absolutely no good and all it does is stress you out and potentially ruin a thing you really enjoy.

The first character I first fell in love with: 

This should be a no-brainer...I think you know him. Tall, purple bandana, gap between the teeth, way too smart for his own good...yeah, it's him. 😌💜

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: 

Honestly, Raph! I started the show thinking very surface-level of him; awesome ninja, anger issues, stuff like that. Then when I started rewatching the show, I started to see how vulnerable and soft he could be with his brothers - along with unbelievably sassy he can be. Seriously, dude has some of my favorite one-liners in the whole show.🤣❤️

The character everyone else loves that I don’t: 

Oh, this is gonna be interesting...I'm gonna be blunt here, Leo. Don't get me wrong, I like him a lot and he has some amazing moments, but he doesn't necessarily have the snark that makes Raph and Donnie stand out, and the sunshine and humor that makes Mikey so endearing. I love Blue, but he's 4th place out of the four. 💙

The character I love that everyone else hates: 

Hmm...probably Shredder. I've seen people say that his motivation is pretty lame (which, in some way, it kind of is) but he's not just a bratty child. He's a really twisted villain and seems to really believe his motivations are completely justified - and you can't deny he's completely ruthless in battle. Really exemplifies the concept of the head of the Foot - and honestly, I think he's a great villain.

The character I used to love but don’t any longer:

Probably April. I liked her a lot when I was younger (the concept of girl power and she's got a potential romance with my favorite turtle? Sign me up!), but once I got older...she really grated on my nerves. Don't get me wrong, I like her in season 1; she's an inexperienced teenager who's dealing with the pain of having her dad be kidnapped and is meeting some new friends along the way. Season 2 onwards? I wanted to strangle her. Not just because of the love triangle (although that is a part of it,) but also because she lost a lot of that awkwardness that made her likable in season 1, and just became a cliche girlboss. But she wasn't even likable there; she just felt like the token female character needed to add "diversity" to the group.

The character I would totally smooch:

The character I’d want to be like: 

Probably Raph; minus the short temper, I'd love to have the skills he has and the undying love with an animal - be it Spike/Slash or Chompy. Plus, the sass. ❤️

The character I’d slap: 

Well, I already mentioned April, but I like her in season 1 so that saves her. And it's kind of a cliche choice to pick a villain, so let's pick someone that I've despised since the beginning - even when I was a dumb kid.

Casey.

Does he get better in later seasons? Yeah, I'd say so; he becomes less in your face and more...just annoying, but kinda like Mikey annoying where you can't hate him. But in season 2, I wanted to strangle him too - and admittedly, still kinda do. He's way too obnoxious for his own good, is way too gross in his flirting with April (he's not chauvinistic or anything, but you just roll your eyes a lot of the time), and doesn't back up his bragging or anything with actually being likable, unlike Raph.

So yeah, he's the one.

A pairing that I love:

If you asked me this when I was a kid, I would've said Apritello - April and Donnie. Now, I don't shame anyone if they ship them, but let's just say I way prefer my version in All's Fair in Love and Science (shameless self-promo 😅) where they love each other platonically and April shamelessly teases him about his crush on my OC, Andi.

But to answer, a pair that I love? Mikey and Renet, personally. She captures that inexperience as a Time Master wonderfully, and she never comes off like an idiot - she's just trying to find her footing. And Mikey's so in awe of her that it's kind of adorable. They both have that same kind of childish, free spirit that makes me just want to protect them. 😅🧡

A pairing that I despise: 

Okay, there are two.

One is the aforementioned Apritello. I used to like them as a kid, but watching it in hindsight is just cringeworthy. Don't get me wrong, I am all for Donnie having a crush (and admittedly, I'm a sucker for the love at first sight trope), but did they have to make it so forced and awkward? And I understand April feeling uncomfortable and not wanting to ruin their friendship about his feelings for her, but that's what communication is. And by not having that, she just kept leading him on and making him think he had a chance - only to either ignore him or just continue treating him like just a friend. It was so forced and awkward and...ugh.

And for the obvious - Leorai, Leo and Karai. Okay, who thought it was a good idea to imply that two siblings could have a romance - and have it be canon that one sibling had a crush on the other? Don't get me wrong, I love Karai; she's bar none my favorite female character in the show. And like I said, I love Leo - but the crush he had on Karai is what brings his character down for me. If they wrote him as impressed by her skills and seeing the good in her from a platonic point of view, it would've been sweet - and added another layer to Leo's character. But no, they went with the pseudo-incest perspective and made us all creeped out.

I prefer Cross x Epic over Crossmare because:

A: You're gay! B: No u! C: You do realize you are married right?

And I prefer Inkmare over Xvials because I personally love the idea of Nightmare being a Morophile (having an affinity for stupid people) as he often finds mortals and decides to keep them as if he as kid finding a shiny rock, although this dynamic of "He's SO stupid (and I love it)" can be feasible with Cross, I like Ink being a silly lil goober and I don't see it happening with Cross, but I don't ship X Gaster with anyone because he is canonically Aro Ace.

What kind of dynamic do you see in your mind with Crossmare, I'd like to know your thoughts on the matter.

I didn’t expect to get this ask but interesting conversation starter so I’ll bite, besides you’re being very polite so I might as well partake! And I like discussing dynamics anyway, so this’ll be interesting.

First of all, I like Crepic too! It’s just a bit further down on the list. They’re funny, but there’s not a real sense of commitment for me to latch into.

Secondly, I like Inkmare too! And the idea of Nightmare finding more airheaded people attractive is cute, but that can also get unhealthy very quickly if he has the wrong reasons for thinking that. I also just don’t like characterizing Ink as “stupid”, because he’s not. Ink’s not stupid, he’s a dumbass by choice. Besides, that often is a way that people infantilize him and it feels kinda ableist for that reason, given he is very autism and adhd-coded. But overall Inkmare is good. And while I completely understand not having a ship for XGaster, Ink is also aroace and aroace people are fully capable of being in relationships. Many of them don’t want to and said relationships are usually pretty complicated and are not romantic, at least in the traditional sense, but many can and do. Every aspec person is different and we shouldn’t put characters into a box unless they’re like- canonically stated to be repulsed/non-favorable or something. Besides, my view of Xvials often isn’t necessarily romantic, it’s usually the definition of “it’s complicated and we don’t know what’s going on”. But that’s most of my ships, because I’m not invested in it being romantic, I’m more invested in the characters having a meaningful bond.

As for how I view Crossmare? Well I’m very heavy on the comfort and understanding each other side of it. I came into the fandom and started shipping it when the whole season 1 of Underverse was all we had. From that I extrapolated from that sense of understanding between them and Nightmare wanting to help Cross. It’s very much about Nightmare seeing Cross and saying “hey. I know it hurts. I know what you’re going through. But it’s ok. I’ll help you be strong. And you will achieve greatness when you are ready”. Nightmare helps Cross understand and get in touch with his negative emotions, helping him to embrace and weaponize and come to terms with them rather than fight against them, to not villainize his struggles. Nightmare is there, not to say “get up and keep fighting even when you don’t want to” like Dream does, but to say “it’s ok to sit and feel and rest for a moment. You don’t have to be a soldier, you don’t have to be a hero, you are allowed to let yourself feel. Do not repress your feelings for the benefit of others, let it out. Prioritize YOU.” And Cross is doing what he can to help Nightmare feel understood along the way, to do what he can for the person who’s helping him, a lot of give-and-take with these two, just in different ways.

I know it’s not very canon-accurate, but it’s what I made of it, and it was all formed in my head prior to when 0.6 shot me in the foot.

By this point my brain is pretty much just an Imodnascape, so here are some thoughts:

I won’t lie, the thing that finally convinced me to start Critical Role after years of meaning to was Laudna and Imogen, specifically the way Marisha and Laura play them. There’s no denying the chemistry between them as these characters - hell, the campaign started with just the two of them at the table. And the way that the others are utterly transfixed on the two of them when they interact says it all really. 

Yes, I want it to be romantic. And there are so many reasons why it seems that way, most coming from Imogen. The RING ???? I think that’s enough on its own... But also the way she hesitated when asked if her and Laudna were a thing, like she hadn’t really thought about the nature of her feelings until then. And then the ‘yeah it must be strange to access that’ when Laudna spoke of not having those kinds of feelings for so long. While I don’t think it was planned by either Laura or Marisha beforehand (although the Laudna’s mind was musical line right at the start ??? Laura Bailey what the fuck was up with that ?!!) I don’t think it’s outrageous to think Imogen now has romantic feelings towards Laudna - whether they’re reciprocated is a harder question.

It would be my hope that Laudna does share those feelings, but just isn’t ready to face them, and watching her work through that through the rest of the campaign, with some awkwardness with Imogen and more talks with the rest of the gang - specifically FCG - would be so good (Sam also seems to be the biggest Imodna shipper, I thank him for his service).

Saying that, I want to try to be objective. The more time goes by without anyone acknowledging it away from the table (nobody talked about it on 4-sided dive even with Erika there ??? Really ???) does make me a little nervous. Robbie was asked if Dorian had a crush on Imogen way back when and Ashley was asked if Fearne really would with Chet, but nobody has outright asked Marisha or Laura if their characters have feelings, when it’s clearly been a talking point in-game. By this point, the omission feels purposeful and I’m uncertain why. 

It’s entirely possible that they don’t want to draw attention to it or give much away to have the space to work through it themselves as their characters, to see how it will play out organically. It’s also possible that Imogen and Laudna might stay best friends and nothing romantic will happen. 

The bottom line for me: I’d be okay with nothing romantic happening between Imogen and Laudna; the relationship they have as it is is so wonderful, even if I want a romance. Saying that, I think at this point (38 eps in) any other romance for them within the group - can’t even imagine outside of it - just doesn’t feel organic. 

The chemistry between Imogen and Laudna is just quite frankly in another league to everyone else. And having watched some of the other campaigns, seeing them play different characters who arguably had some flirtation and potential for something, I think how they’ve been able to create this new dynamic on another scale that’s so tender and unshakable is truly wonderful and impressive.

I don’t think this is a wild take to have about romances in general given what I’ve seen from the previous campaigns; all the romances there seemed to have their foundations set by now, right? I also think it’s a fresh take in that most of the other relationships developed between characters who weren’t necessarily best friends pre-campaign - not to this degree anyway. There’s less blatant flirtation here because as feelings (supposedly) take a different form, there’s so much at stake since they already mean the world to one another. But the love is there, the tension is there, it’s so immense it feels like it could overflow. 

Also a biased point but it’s so lovely to see the overwhelmingly popular ship be between two women. Likes yes, thank you.

So yeah, that’s where I’m at. I really just think Imogen and Laudna belong together. They’re each other’s person, in whatever form that takes.

Whilst tinkering away at a new device in his grasp, he pauses when he hears the faint booming of music coming from your bunk which soon eventually gets louder. He narrows his eyes, almost rolling them as Tech never saw the significance of music onboard the ship.

You had begged, pleaded with him to make you something where you can have music on the ship and since he was non-admittedly soft on you, how could he refuse?

Ever since, every day and every hour, you have been playing music. When you were cleaning there was music, when you were cleaning your music was blaring out loud and even music played when you drifted off to sleep.

He didn’t mind it but when he first noticed the first sign of his head nodding along to the music, he knew he could be in trouble. It wasn’t necessarily a bad thing as he did enjoy it but the thought of him getting distracted because of the music you played did worry him.

The second his finger slips on the device, he knew he would have to have a word with you and it just so happens it did. He’s distracted.

Sighing, he stands to his feet and makes his way to you but pauses in the middle of the doorway to see you in a whole galaxy of your own, dancing and singing away quietly to the music playing in the background. Admittedly he did quite enjoy the music you had on, nothing he had ever heard before but seeing you genuinely happy made his heart almost burst. It almost pained him to tell you to switch it off for a while.

“Oh hey handsome! You okay?” Your chirpiness made him snap out of his daze, eyes a little wide at the more than welcome compliment.

“Y-yes, quite.” He clears his throat, hoping the heat on his cheeks aren’t noticeable. “Sorry to interrupt but I was wondering if I may ask for a favor?”

You smile at the Clone in front of you, maintaining the sway in your hips to the rhythm of the music. “Can it wait a minute? I love this one!” You squeak in excitement, all the tensions of your life fading whenever music, more in particular ‘K-Pop’ as they called it back on your home planet.

He fidgets, really needing to get his work done but your happiness was too overpowering. “I must insist that it can not wait-.”

“Permission to Dance with me Tech?” You ask cheekily, extending out a hand and he almost collapses at the thought. Sure, he may have fantasised dancing with you at one point. He would never admit it to anyone unless the opportunity came to present itself. Yet, it would be more to a slow and romantic song after watching one too many cheesy romantic holomovies. But an upbeat song? Not a chance.

“No… I can’t.” He speaks awkwardly and tries not to let the small pout on your lips put him down.

“Oh come on! You’re always so tense and working, you need to relax and just dance.” You laugh, dropping your hand to your side since he won’t take it as you twirl around in the bunk room. “It’s called Permission to Dance by the way. See what I did there?”

Tech sighs internally, knowing he can’t take away your happiness. The more the song plays on the more his foot taps along to the music too. “Very good. I just say it is rather catchy… and distracting.”

His tone was a little off and as you looked at him and saw his expression, you frowned and walked over to the music device he had made for you and turned it down. “Sorry Tech, is it too loud?”

He awkwardly pinches the fingertips of his gloves, looking down at his feet rather than at you. “A little. I don’t mind you listening at all and I do quite enjoy the music but I find myself not concentrating as well as I should.”

Guilt rattles you and you nod your head, feeling bad that you had pried Tech away from his work and been distracting him all the while. “Well, I’ll keep it down from now on. I’m really sorry.”

“Nothing to apologise for, it is something you enjoy. I feel bad for making you turn it off as I see how happy it makes you…” he trails off for a moment, hoping he can redeem himself somehow and hesitates as he adds on a timid ‘darling’.

You smile warmly at the name, always finding Tech to be one of the sweetest Batchers and one you had slowly started to get more attached to as the days go by. “Perhaps we could come to a compromise? When you’re not working I could play some more K-Pop and when you do I’ll stop?”

He thinks and notes that it is a reasonable plan. After all, he had brought music to you so how could he ever take it away? “Sounds like a plan.”

Happy you both came to a decision, you wait for him to depart yet he doesn’t. “Uh, are you going to get back to your tinkering or…?”

He pushes his goggles up the bridge of his nose. “Seeing as though I am now here and my work has been put on hold, I don’t mind you resuming your music.”

Pleasantly surprised, you happily turn up the music but skip a few songs. “How about a nice relaxing one for a change?”

The melody changed away from its usual up tempo to a much calmer and sweeter tune.

Tech remains standing in the doorway and he’s hesitating a little. You’re both alone, a rare occurrence and just as he thought before about dancing with you why not give it ago? The others won’t be back for an hour or two and now was his opportunity.

He takes a step closer to you and sucks in a deep breath. “Permission to dance again?” He’s awkward, beautifully awkward as he sticks his hand out to you.

Warmth heats your cheeks but you didn’t waste a second taking his hand into yours and allowing him to bring you close; almost chest to chest.

Now you’re close, he’s a little clueless but focuses on the music, letting it take him into a different world with you in it. Supposedly he now knew how you felt when you listened to something as enjoyable as this.

You’re guiding him, wrapping your arms around the back of his neck and smiling softly at him. “Who knew I’d ever see you dancing to K-Pop. With me.” You chuckle to which he returns, offering you a flourish as he lets you spin before bringing you back to him, gaining confidence.

“Please be aware that I am not partial to any fast tempo music for the future. However, I am rather enjoying this.” He speaks quietly, scared being too loud would break the sweet embrace you find you both in.

You close your eyes and come just a tad closer, letting your cheek rest against his as he holds onto your hips, swaying side to side. “That’s fine… I quite like this. You’re a good dancer.”

He was doubtful at your words but would take your compliment regardless. “As are you. I have always thought about what it’d be like to dance with a pretty girl. This sensation is rather, no not rather, very new to me.”

“You think I’m pretty?” You ask gently, hoping that he was in fact talking about you and not someone in the future.

He stills. Gulps. Nods. “Very.”

Who knew it would take some K-Pop for Tech to finally pay you a compliment you longed to hear for a long time? The two of you settle into a comfortable embrace, letting the music take you away and when you’re feeling bold enough, you may just let a small kiss linger on the corner of his mouth.

You see him bobbing his head to the music from then on in and also asks for a dance when nobody else is watching.

Whoops here's more about my boy Mio, from my fic Pretty Little Pet where I ship him with Raphael! Some thoughts on:

Mio’s name

Raphael and Haarlep (specifically their relationship in my fic)

Mio and Haarlep

Mio’s name

When Raphael asks him what to call him he says “Whatever you want”. And when others ask who he is, he says that he’s Raphael’s pet. So, Mio hasn’t told anyone his name. This isn’t intentional btw, Mio isn’t aware of this.

Raphael only ever calls him “pet” and Haarlep calls him by various nicknames, eventually settling on “kitten”.

I think the contract Raphael made with Mio’s parents doesn’t mention his name, only referring to him by “first born child” because then the contract still works even if Mio changed his name.

All of this means (and I’m not sure yet if I’m making this canon) that it’s entirely possible Raphael doesn’t know Mio’s name. And Mio doesn’t know that Raphael doesn’t know. I just think that’s funny ^^’

I got the name from Astrid Lindgren’s “Mio, my son”, I never read the book but I watched the movie as a kid and just liked the name.

Raphael and Haarlep

(This is specifically about Raphael and Haarlep’s relationship within my fic, not necessarily an interpretation of canon, although I’ve tried to keep it canon compliant.)

When Raphael first received Haarlep he binds them to secrecy with a contract or spell. He still suspects that Haarlep might find a way to tell Mephsitopheles things so he takes care not to let them know anything he wouldn’t want Mephisto to know. (He doesn’t know that Haarlep isn’t there to spy on him, they were literally just sent to distract him from some scheme of his that was getting on Mephisto’s nerves.)

Raphael uses them for sex, which suits Haarlep fine. At some point they both figure out that Raphael is a total sub and while Raphael denies this at first because he’s embarrassed, he eventually accepts it, convincing himself that it’s only because he’s always in charge during his day-to-day life, so of course reversing roles during sex would be a good outlet and let him relax (and yes, that’s part of it, but he also just enjoys being submissive). Haarlep doesn’t actually care about Raphael being a sub and doesn’t think anyone else would either. And while this secret getting out wouldn’t ruin Raphael, it would still embarrass him.

They’ve been together for centuries, Haarlep probably knows Raphael better than anyone else. They’ve been having sex together for so long they’ve become bored of each other. While Raphael has sex with other people as well, he doesn’t want him being submissive to get out, so he keeps it pretty vanilla with other partners and doesn’t have any long term sexual relationships. This means that Haarlep is the only person who can fulfill his needs for when he wants to be submissive. He lets/makes Haarlep dom him all the time, they don’t really have any other kind of sex anymore, even though Haarlep would like to switch it up sometimes.

Haarlep can sometimes really get on Raphael’s nerves, but he can’t easily get rid of them because they were a gift and releasing or killing them would be considered an insult. While he doesn’t really care about what his father thinks of him, killing Haarlep isn’t worth finding out what Mephisto would do in retaliation. Haarlep knows this and likes to push the boundaries, Raphael will punish them if they go too far but sometimes, punishment is better than boredom. 

Boredom is really Haarlep’s biggest problem. As a personal incubus they’ve got it pretty good as far as possible positions for succubi/incubi go. They have at some point convinced Raphael to let other people have sex with them as well, as Raphael didn’t use them often enough and they need at least some “sex energy” to stay healthy, if not alive.

Raphael made them take his form when he was much younger, so that’s why Haarlep looks slightly different from him. Raphael makes them have sex with people who want to fuck him as part of their contract (he words the contract in such a way that it doesn’t actually have to be him). Also the thing where the people whose form they have taken can feel what they feel is something they can turn on and off at will.

Mio and Haarlep

Haarlep doesn’t really care about Mio at first. Raphael will often play around with mortals for a few weeks or months before he loses interest and they disappear. They still like to tease and play with Mio and are a bit annoyed that they aren’t allowed to touch (or have sex with) him. They don’t break this rule because they would be punished too and they would rather keep playing with Mio.

Mio doesn’t really know what to make of Haarlep either. He knows they’re teasing him but at least they aren’t outright mean to him. They are also one of the few people in the HoH, aside from Raphael, he can have any kind of longer conversation with. Mio thinks of Haarlep as a kind of coworker, one who’s been working the job for ages and can be asked for advice, although they might not necessarily help him.

Things change a bit when Mio starts having sex with Raphael. Haarlep is pretty glad to have someone else to take care of Raphael’s sexual needs and give them a bit of a break. Which means they now have an interest in keeping Mio around and at least happy and healthy enough so he can keep Raphael satisfied enough in bed.

Raphael is pretty busy with work (writing fanfiction, stalking finding potential clients, torturing unfortunate souls, etc.) and doesn’t have time to keep either Haarlep or Mio entertained. I don’t really like Azul with either tweel as a ship, just not a fan. I don’t like Idia and Malleus either which I’ve seen around. Diasomnia crew as a polyam family. Thoughts? If into it, headcanons?

It is kind of funny how perfectly Diasomnia crew works when it comes to ships, there really are 4 characters and 4 ships (for us ofc) lol, so I see your point about the polyam situation!

Although it’s a bit difficult for me to imagine this particular scenario working, at least intentionally and openly, and even though I don’t have any headcanons to share, I’ll share my thoughts.

In short, I don’t think Sebek is aware that people are sleeping with each other in his group lol He is waaay too oblivious and tries way too hard to fight off his own horny thoughts. Not to mention, the thought of Silver having sex with Lilia-sama would repulse him because of how much of an unfair treatment it is, he would be so mad at Silver (and kind of jealous without realising it, because how could he feel jealousy when it’s Lilia-sama we’re talking about). And he wouldn’t even dare to think about Lilia-sama and Malleus-sama being intimate with each other, as if he’s unworthy of even entertaining the thought.

And when it comes to his own sex life, even if he has sex with Silver regularly, he won’t consider them to be together, because “come on, it’s Silver”. And if he’s lucky enough to get Malleus to sleep with him, he would be too overwhelmed to even think about it rationally…

Sebek’s mind is quite a confusing place, but with the rest of the crew, things are actually less complicated. Like, Lilia doesn’t care who sleeps with whom, and it’s almost impossible to hide anything from him anyways: for example, if Sebek and Silver have sex, Lilia is going to know about it pretty much instantly the next time he sees them. He enjoys asking provoking and embarrassing questions, but ultimately he’s just glad his boys are having fun.

Lilia also doesn’t necessarily hide anything from anyone, so if you catch him in the act, he probably wouldn’t act apologetic at all, he’s way too old for that.

Silver is definitely aware that Lilia does it with Malleus – he’s been around these two for his entire life and he is more attentive than Sebek is. Malleus is probably also aware about Lilia and Silver…

So everyone is aware of everything, but Sebek is ruining the whole thing lol So the whole thing is not acknowledged and talked about enough for them to be a proper polyam family.

You cannot be blamed or faulted in any way, dear nonny! This episode was a whole new level, that’s for sure (particularly, I feel, with the shared look and smile in front of the windmill and then the music starts playing… I mean, come on, what WAS that? Up until then it could have been just two buddies being buddies, but that just read a little too goddamned romantic to me. Doesn’t mean I think it’s intended to be read that way, by the by, but even so).

To be honest, I did ship them before… but a little hesistantly? Like, with how complex and gorgerous and layered their relationship is, I wasn’t – and am still not, if I’m being honest – sure I want or need romance and sex thrown in there as well. Sometimes I think that the inclusion of that tends to overshadow other aspects and reduce the relationship to being primarily about this one thing? I wouldn’t want that, not when we have the way Roy is obviously something of a paternal influence on Jamie, but Jamie is the only one of the players that quite often take the role of Roy’s peer? The way Roy’s being the only person Jamie is still a bit of a prick to at times, but also the person Jamie actively seeks out to comfort and help? How Roy is far rougher on Jamie than on anyone else, still thinks him a prima donna and fragile little bitch, but also pays him so much attention? Is willing to sacrifiece sleep and so much of his time to train him? Quoting one Jamie Tartt, “that’s mad, innit?”.

So I kind of want them to grow into something more, but I’m also resisting the idea that romance would actually be more. Romance and/or sex to me isn’t some higher order of relationship, not something necessarily deeper or more meaningful that any other strong relationship. I like what we have. I think is plenty.

But, okay, Roy and Jamie kissing would objectively be really, really hot, so of course I want that! They’d be such an interesting couple! Give me that! But maybe don’t! It’s complicated.

Now, Roy and Jamie and Keeley I ship unreservedly. This is the endgame I want (although one I deem sadly unprobably, if not wholly hopeless!). You might questions why my potential objections against Jamie x Roy don’t apply here, and that’s very fair and I don’t have a good answer, except there’s something about there being three of them that changes the dynamic to make it inherently complex and intriguing and yeah, that’s vague, but that’s what I’ve got.

Rating the Kommissar Rex/Il Commissario Rex/Hudson and Rex human partners for funsies, in chronological order. Contains spoilers, some bias, and opinions based on superficial characteristics. I will take the blame for any distorted memories I have of the shows, although I did a full rewatch last summer. (Rewatch refers to Kommissar Rex and Hudson and Rex. I could only watch Il Commissario Rex once. Well, 0.75 times. I couldn’t find some of the episodes.)

Kommissar Rex

Richard Moser: The blueprint. Not necessarily the best one in my opinion (although if you ask kid me, yes), but they modeled at least two other characters after him in the reboots. Pretty nice (although a product of his time), street smart, recently divorced, and the first few episodes where he and Rex are getting used to living together are hilarious. Moser’s dry humor was good too, also his whump scenes where great. And I appreciated the nude scenes a lot (thanks, German tv of the 90s). 8/10

Alex Brandtner: The hot one. Also, more of a “new age” cop (new age here means post 90s, don’t get confused). Kid me didn’t appreciate the hotness but I watched it in my teen years, and oh boy. And the action scenes, while sometimes ridiculous and making you wonder why???, really showed the actor’s training in physical scenes too. I always liked the way Brandtner immediately bonded with Rex and then we learn of the tragedy with his own dog. Too bad his love life was even more non-existent than Moser’s. 9/10

Marc Hoffmann: I’ll be honest, I just didn’t care for him for the most part, but I did like the fact that for the first time there was a ship with him and Nikki. They went for a different style with this one and it shows. Marc is less type A than the previous two, not a bad thing, but by that point, it was clear that Kommissar Rex as a show was nearing its end and I think it sometimes showed. 7/10

Il Commissario Rex (At this point, let me just say that I don’t associate the two shows with each other. And whoever has watched both, would probably agree with me. It hardly matters that the Italian show starts as a spinoff.)

Lorenzo Fabbri: Ugh, I don’t know what it is with this guy but I didn’t like him much. His style was a lot like Moser at first (adopting Rex, saving him from a miserable fate, learning to live with him, etc.). I absolutely hated the storyline with the forensics scientist throwing herself at him every chance she got and him trying to avoid her instead of flat out telling her he’s not interested, and then at some point they slept together??? Anyway, did not like. 6/10

Davide Rivera: I liked that guy but sadly we didn’t have that many episodes with him. He could have had more to offer as a character. More quiet than the sometimes too loud Lorenzo, and took some time to warm up to Rex if I recall. I liked that he took no flack from his boss (Sidenote: the boss didn’t like Rex at first and kept wanting to get rid of him, and I wanted to rip him to shreds). 7/10

Marco Terzani: I literally found one season of his episodes, so I’ll reserve judgment (if anyone has his second and third season, please give it to me lol or point to the right direction). He seems kinda reckless? He’s definitely attractive. ?/10, more research needed.

Hudson and Rex

Charlie Hudson: Started off as kind of mediocre for me, then he made me change my mind. When I started watching, I was hellbent on comparing every single thing of this show to the characters of the original at first, so I’m partially to blame for my initial perception of him. However, I won’t blame myself for the bad writing, pacing, and overall mediocrity of S1 that contributed to a big part of it. Anyway, they used some of Moser’s backstory (divorced, adopts Rex after his K-9 partner tragically dies) and expanded on it. Charlie has had the most development as a character than any of the others, which makes sense since he’s the first of Rex’s partners to live that long or not get rebooted lol. He definitely gets bonus points for having a love life too. And for not dying, despite all the whump situations he gets himself into. Definitely falls under the reckless category too. 70% himbo, 100% whump magnet. 9/10

i used to not ship rina (embarassing, i know), so this is my essay on how season three has completely shifted my idea of them, and why i think that the wait until season three may be worth it if they play their cards right — which it seems like they are so far.

let’s start with season one. i feel like most of ricky and gina’s relationship was something you could brush off as something that the viewer could only think of as a plot device to make nini jealous, but that ultimately you knew or felt would never go anywhere. i would say they were meant to be only that at first and then, maybe, the writers changed their minds for season two when they saw fans liked the ship, but i can’t. no, because we know that scene with ricky and gina talking after the show, the “i wouldn’t give up on us” talk, was filmed when season one was filmed. do i think the writers were rooting for rina to be endgame all along? meh, not really, but they definitely had plans for them, that’s for sure.

why didn’t i ship rina at the time? simple, ricky and nini were cute back then. i genuinely liked them. sue me. the rini confession scene at the end of season one is still fucking amazing in my opinion, and there is no denying ricky loved nini, while i believe he only liked gina. i don’t think he necessarily even thought he liked her, i think he thought it was all very much platonic because, come on, he was so focused on nini that entire season. gina, though? she loved him. so it was somewhat unrequited, i guess, although i do not think ricky didn’t have feelings at all.

onto season two, ricky and nini are a fucking mess. they are not good for each other, for as much as i love them both, with ricky hating change and nini’s entire life changing so much in such a small period of time, as well as their individual struggles clashing, the long distance mess, and lily’s bafoonery in the middle. we could smell the breakup coming from miles away. that scene was really sad, honestly, but it was something i knew had to happen. right person, wrong time trope, if i may. on the other hand, portwell was thriving, and i honestly saw that coming from season one. i really didn’t think rini would break up back then, though, so the lingering question of “who will ricky end up with?” stayed around, and was somewhat answered by lily, though i wasn’t super happy about it. nonetheless, god knows i love season two portwell so much.

by the end of the series, gina is with ej, while nini and ricky have broken up. nini is on her little lesbian self discovery journey, good for her, and i could see her not being with anyone, especially considering olivia rodrigo has become increasingly more busy which has significantly affected how much screentime she has gotten in the series (and things point very much to my baby nini salrobs to eventually be erased fully, sadly, but good for liv honestly). but then what about ricky?

clearly the lily stuff was a misdirect, because onto season three, she barely appeared. and thank god. portwell are still thriving, then ricky shows up. and though i didn’t ship them up until then, things quickly shifted. yes, because the build up is what makes rina, rina. be honest, would you love the ship as much if they had become canon after season one? if you think the answer is yes, did you love rini in season one and ended up not liking them as much afterwards? did the same happen in season two with portwell? yes? that’s what i thought. and honestly, there is no shame in that, because that happened to me too.

i think what is so good about rina is that, unlike all the other hsmtmts ships, it’s taking its sweet fuckin’ time. and honestly? i will eat it the fuck up. it’s cool, it’s realistic, and it’s engaging. it’s cooler because i didn’t expect it to go anywhere at first, because they just looked like yet another plot device to create drama between the main ship, and then here we are, with ricky being canonly jealous over gina and ej in the last episode. rina is made of small hints even now that it’s (hopefully) on its way to become canon, it’s made of moments that come around the main story, it isn’t the main focus like rini was, and it’s beautiful. you don’t feel forced to ship it nor like it when watching it, it comes naturally with time, whether earlier on or later on, because the puzzle pieces come together and you don’t even realize how much you like them together until one moment it kind of just hits you.

nothing feels exaggerated or forced, things just naturally fall into place with them. honestly, i doubt the writers did it on purpose, because if so then why not do the same with the other ships, but kudos to them nonetheless because i can’t help but love this pair. i just hope they don’t do me wrong somehow in the rest of the show.
