In the wake of the TikTok ban and revival as a mouthpiece for fascist propaganda, as well as the downfall of Twitter and Facebook/Facebook-owned platforms to the same evils, I think now is a better time than ever to say LEARN HTML!!! FREE YOURSELVES FROM THE SHACKLES OF MAJOR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AND EMBRACE THE INDIE WEB!!!
You can host a website on Neocities for free as long as it's under 1GB (which is a LOT more than it sounds like let me tell you) but if that's not enough you can get 50GB of space (and a variety of other perks) for only $5 a month.
And if you can't/don't want to pay for the extra space, sites like File Garden and Catbox let you host files for free that you can easily link into NeoCities pages (I do this to host videos on mine!) (It also lets you share files NeoCities wouldn't let you upload for free anyways, this is how I upload the .zip files for my 3DS themes on my site.)
Don't know how to write HTML/CSS? No problem. W3schools is an invaluable resource with free lessons on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and a whole slew of other programming languages, both for web development and otherwise.
Want a more traditional social media experience? SpaceHey is a platform that mimics the experience of 2000s MySpace
Struggling to find independent web pages that cater to your interests via major search engines? I've got you covered. Marginalia and Wiby are search engines that specifically prioritize non-commercial content. Marginalia also has filters that let you search for more specific categories of website, like wikis, blogs, academia, forums, and vintage sites.
Maybe you wanna log off the modern internet landscape altogether and step back into the pre-social media web altogether, well, Protoweb lets you do just that. It's a proxy service for older browsers (or really just any browser that supports HTTP, but that's mostly old browsers now anyways) that lets you visit restored snapshots of vintage websites.
Protoweb has a lot of Geocities content archived, but if you're interested in that you can find even more old Geocities sites over on the Geocities Gallery
And really this is just general tip-of-the-iceberg stuff. If you dig a little deeper you can find loads more interesting stuff out there. The internet doesn't have to be a miserable place full of nothing but doomposting and targeted ads. The first step to making it less miserable is for YOU, yes YOU, to quit spending all your time on it looking at the handful of miserable websites big tech wants you to spend all your time on.
#this is a side point so it's going here but I really think tech literacy should be a requirement in schools like math grammar history etc.#we live in a world so dominated by the stuff and yet a majority of the population does not understand it at even the most fundamental level#tiktok#tiktok ban#indie web#neocities#web development#current events#twitter#facebook#meta#amazon

What should happen is that Cheyenne and Nicholas should actually share the Artisitc Director role. That way, Nicholas can look after his health a bit more and Cheyenne still has time to dance.
Also, think of the arguments they'd have. Nicholas would probably always lose but I think that could also become the way Cheyenne learns to compromise a little.
Plus, just imagine the dynamic between them. The intense won't-take-no-for-an-answer angry French ballerina with the chilled out vibing has-a-story-for-every-situation brit. Comedic gold.
#it would be great character development#nicholas would just roll over any time they disagreed#but cheyenne would realise after a while and when they have a disagreement he really wont let go of she'll let it go his way#because she has a soft spot for him#etoile#etoile amazon prime#étoile#save étoile#cheyenne toussaint#nicholas leutwylek

THE LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA Character design TV series Young adults
I worked on the first 2 seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina, the animated adaptation of the popular Youtube roleplaying show Critical Role. Produced by Titmouse Inc, streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Mains characters and style created by Phil Bourassa. I created secondary characters, crowds, animals, monsters, FX and “damaged versions” of existing characters.

Just watched ‘To Helicon And Back’ with my mother.
Gods that episode does things to me.
Almost every story beat with Gabrielle involves the themes of war and violence. But that one really hits.
And so it should. It’s the last Gabrielle-centric episode.
I say “centric” like Xena and Gabrielle aren’t equally sharing screen time because their arcs so heavily involve each other and therefore it’s X&G-centric.
Which I mean… that’s the entire show really.
They’re the only lead characters after all.
But what I mean is it’s the last episode that fully focuses on Gabrielle’s individual representation and development. It hits even harder in the Spaghetti Order.
Speaking of the Amazons though. They didn’t have to side with Xena and Gabrielle in protecting Eve. They could have went with their Patron Goddess, Artemis.
I know it’s really just because the show isn’t an Amazon story. It’s a love story. But still… it seems really weird.

these outfits are less similar than i remembered in my head BUT i do headcanon that diana is one of the people who helped kara with how to dress when she first arrived on earth (in addition to lois ofc):

black canary: best of the best #1 || supergirl vol 5 #42
also just in general i think diana should be one of the main people that kara seeks out for support and advice, especially since she also has that experience of having to leave home and acclimate to an entirely new culture (obv she can go home while kara can't, but still).
#just. kara and diana <3#kara zor el#supergirl#diana of themyscira#wonder woman#loved that she was one of the people kara sought out in sgv5 when she was having a hard time being a public figure 24/7#SIGH oh kara and the amazons... you could be so huge if most of your appearances together weren't complete ass </3#sgv1 issue 9 you will always be special to me <3#anyway#my ideal vision for kara's wardrobe is that she starts out with clark's hand-me-downs (t-shirts/sweaters/jeans/overalls even)#and then gets advice from diana and lois and develops her own sense of style#she still uses clark's old t-shirts for sleeping though <3

A court in Suriname approved an injunction filed on behalf of twelve Indigenous and maroon groups concerned about losing approximately 535,000 hectares (1,322,013 acres) of rainforest to agricultural development.
The court said the government doesn’t have the right to grant land without free, prior and informed consent, a process in which developers meet with residents to explain how projects would impact daily life.
Despite the ruling, there are new efforts to bring Mennonite communities from other parts of the region to develop Suriname’s agricultural industry.

Finally read Wonder Woman Historia because of your posts about it and damn. goddamn. that was fucking life-changing. literally what the fuck this should be a required read for every single comic book fan to ever exist. fuck
YES OMG THATS WHAT IM SAYINGGGGGGGGGG
(Also yesss got one mwahahaha I'm literally so glad you read it because of me omg 🤗🫶)
No but truly like life-changing sounds intense but is honestly the word for it. Like at least personally I can't emphasize the impact that book has had on me? I first read it about a year ago and finished it just SOBBING. I wasn't even a Wonder Woman fan before reading it. I wasn't even a Wonder Woman fan before reading it. Like do you understand I now run a Wonder Woman blog, I own multiple WW articles of clothing and my entire wall is covered in WW issues and items. If I had to list my top 5 books (not comics, books) of all time Wonder Woman: Historia would be an automatic contender. I reread it constantly, and bring my giant ass hardcover that is too tall for every bookshelf everywhere. It is constantly on my mind.
Anyways just sooooooo so glad you got a chance to read it (especially because of me!!!) because Historia is truly my favorite comic out there and I think it's one of the best things from the medium as a whole : )
Anyways all you folks listening this is you sign to READ WONDER WOMAN: HISTORIA!!!
#when i say i wasnt a wonder woman fan before reading it i dont mean to say i didnt like her or wasnt interested in her#i was (and am) a girl and like superheroes and wonder woman had shown up in the various dc cartoons i grew up with#and id watched and liked wonder woman (2016) back when it came out in theatres etc.#but as a kid it was always kind of clear to me that the trinity was presented as a marketing thing but it always felt like#batman superman & also Woman. like it seemed a very obvious “oh and btw we have women here too!” in a way that wasnt really backed up or#shown in anything i was watching. like wondy has never had an animated series. never had a mainstream movie before 2016. was there but not#well developed or shown in any of the series she did show up in. and kid me definitely wasn't watching the lynda carter series because it#wasnt airing anyways!#like i was a dc fan for a few years had read a good amt of comics already seen at least some of most dc series' out there and yet had like#never really been introduced to who is diana and hippolyta and the amazons like that in a way that clicked#like i had all the ingredients to be an atrocious wonder woman fan all lined up but that book is so good it set me off like a nuclear bomb#this land has been irradiated w it for generations to come

Sometimes I feel like the discourse about AI art misses the actual point of why it’s not a good tool to use.
“AI art isn’t ‘real’ art.” —> opinion-based, echoes the same false commentary about digital art in general, just ends up in a ‘if you can’t make your own store-bought is fine’ conversation, implies that if art isn’t done a certain way it lacks some moral/ethical value, relies on the emotional component of what art is considered “real” or not which is wildly subjective
“AI art steals from existing artists without credit.” —> fact-based, highlights the actual damage of the tool, isn’t relying on an emotional plea, can actually lead to legally stopping overuse of AI tools and/or the development of AI tools that don’t have this problem, doesn’t get bogged down in the ‘but what if they caaaaan’t make art some other way’ argument
Like I get that people who don’t give a shit about plagiarism aren’t going to be swayed, but they weren’t going to be swayed by the first argument either. And the argument of “oh well AI art can’t do hands/isn’t as good/can’t do this thing I have decided indicates True Human Creativity” will eventually erode since… the AI tools are getting better and will be able to emulate that in time. It just gets me annoyed when the argument is trying to base itself on “oh this isn’t GOOD art” when AI does produce interesting and appealing images and the argument worth having is much more about the intrinsic value of artists than the perceived value of the works that are produced.
#anyway ignore this bitching#me putting on my clown suit since I know tumblr doesn’t have reading comprehension#there is no intrinsic moral value to the use of AI because the AI is not a conscious thing#it is an algorithm and like all algorithms it can be applied and developed in harmful ways#for example my disabled ass loves having my Amazon echo so I can turn on the lights even when my pain is bad#but I hate being advertised and listened to#neither of these things are the outcome of the fact that there is hardware and software to translate and implement my voice commands#it’s about the users and developers of the tool and their intent

Moments Lab Secures $24 Million to Redefine Video Discovery With Agentic AI
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/moments-lab-secures-24-million-to-redefine-video-discovery-with-agentic-ai/
Moments Lab Secures $24 Million to Redefine Video Discovery With Agentic AI
Moments Lab, the AI company redefining how organizations work with video, has raised $24 million in new funding, led by Oxx with participation from Orange Ventures, Kadmos, Supernova Invest, and Elaia Partners. The investment will supercharge the company’s U.S. expansion and support continued development of its agentic AI platform — a system designed to turn massive video archives into instantly searchable and monetizable assets.
The heart of Moments Lab is MXT-2, a multimodal video-understanding AI that watches, hears, and interprets video with context-aware precision. It doesn’t just label content — it narrates it, identifying people, places, logos, and even cinematographic elements like shot types and pacing. This natural-language metadata turns hours of footage into structured, searchable intelligence, usable across creative, editorial, marketing, and monetization workflows.
But the true leap forward is the introduction of agentic AI — an autonomous system that can plan, reason, and adapt to a user’s intent. Instead of simply executing instructions, it understands prompts like “generate a highlight reel for social” and takes action: pulling scenes, suggesting titles, selecting formats, and aligning outputs with a brand’s voice or platform requirements.
“With MXT, we already index video faster than any human ever could,” said Philippe Petitpont, CEO and co-founder of Moments Lab. “But with agentic AI, we’re building the next layer — AI that acts as a teammate, doing everything from crafting rough cuts to uncovering storylines hidden deep in the archive.”
From Search to Storytelling: A Platform Built for Speed and Scale
Moments Lab is more than an indexing engine. It’s a full-stack platform that empowers media professionals to move at the speed of story. That starts with search — arguably the most painful part of working with video today.
Most production teams still rely on filenames, folders, and tribal knowledge to locate content. Moments Lab changes that with plain text search that behaves like Google for your video library. Users can simply type what they’re looking for — “CEO talking about sustainability” or “crowd cheering at sunset” — and retrieve exact clips within seconds.
Key features include:
AI video intelligence: MXT-2 doesn’t just tag content — it describes it using time-coded natural language, capturing what’s seen, heard, and implied.
Search anyone can use: Designed for accessibility, the platform allows non-technical users to search across thousands of hours of footage using everyday language.
Instant clipping and export: Once a moment is found, it can be clipped, trimmed, and exported or shared in seconds — no need for timecode handoffs or third-party tools.
Metadata-rich discovery: Filter by people, events, dates, locations, rights status, or any custom facet your workflow requires.
Quote and soundbite detection: Automatically transcribes audio and highlights the most impactful segments — perfect for interview footage and press conferences.
Content classification: Train the system to sort footage by theme, tone, or use case — from trailers to corporate reels to social clips.
Translation and multilingual support: Transcribes and translates speech, even in multilingual settings, making content globally usable.
This end-to-end functionality has made Moments Lab an indispensable partner for TV networks, sports rights holders, ad agencies, and global brands. Recent clients include Thomson Reuters, Amazon Ads, Sinclair, Hearst, and Banijay — all grappling with increasingly complex content libraries and growing demands for speed, personalization, and monetization.
Built for Integration, Trained for Precision
MXT-2 is trained on 1.5 billion+ data points, reducing hallucinations and delivering high confidence outputs that teams can rely on. Unlike proprietary AI stacks that lock metadata in unreadable formats, Moments Lab keeps everything in open text, ensuring full compatibility with downstream tools like Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Brightcove, YouTube, and enterprise MAM/CMS platforms via API or no-code integrations.
“The real power of our system is not just speed, but adaptability,” said Fred Petitpont, co-founder and CTO. “Whether you’re a broadcaster clipping sports highlights or a brand licensing footage to partners, our AI works the way your team already does — just 100x faster.”
The platform is already being used to power everything from archive migration to live event clipping, editorial research, and content licensing. Users can share secure links with collaborators, sell footage to external buyers, and even train the system to align with niche editorial styles or compliance guidelines.
From Startup to Standard-Setter
Founded in 2016 by twin brothers Frederic Petitpont and Phil Petitpont, Moments Lab began with a simple question: What if you could Google your video library? Today, it’s answering that — and more — with a platform that redefines how creative and editorial teams work with media. It has become the most awarded indexing AI in the video industry since 2023 and shows no signs of slowing down.
“When we first saw MXT in action, it felt like magic,” said Gökçe Ceylan, Principal at Oxx. “This is exactly the kind of product and team we look for — technically brilliant, customer-obsessed, and solving a real, growing need.”
With this new round of funding, Moments Lab is poised to lead a category that didn’t exist five years ago — agentic AI for video — and define the future of content discovery.
