Since I drew APH Hong Kong and Taiwan with tea (and there are too many iconic Japanese drinks out there 😵💫), I decided to continue it on Japan as well~
Kiku with the OG matcha and the chasen (bamboo whisk) 🍵🍃
a concept. to consider.
what if. what if there was a Remember Them reprise after the Thunder Saga.
"We are not to let them die in vain" except he's the only one left so it's "I am not to let them die in vain."
and there's no backing chorus of his men. because. they're all dead.
and the line takes on a whole new meaning now that he's the one who chose to let them die.
(not in vain. it can't have been in vain, it can't have been for nothing. i have to see her. i have to see her, because if i don't make it home, those men died for nothing. the ends always justify the means. i can justify anything as long as it ends with Penelope and Telemachus both in my arms again. but if it doesn't-
but it will. it will. it has to.)
and our-
...
-and my comrades will not die in vain...
if you have a blank blog and keep getting blocked by every blog you follow because we're all wary of porn bots, but you don't know what to put on your blog
you look like this rn
this is what spam bots look like as well. this is a screenshot of a blog I think belongs to a person but it has no posts and no likes so I cannot tell
you can change your profile picture to literally anything. it can be a solid color. it can be a character or actor you're fond of. it can be your cat. it can be a stock photo. literally anything, but it probably shouldn't be your actual face
you can change "Untitled" (which is your blog title btw) to, again, literally anything. it can be "Hello" if you want. "Twitter Transplant" works too. just something
people here often put their name (usually not the one they use irl, or at least not their government name), their preferred pronouns, and a brief overview of their interests in their bio. there's no need to overshare or link a carrd. it can be "I'm new here and haven't set my blog up yet!"
you may have seen people encourage pinning a post to your profile. that can be very similar to your bio, just an overview of what to expect from your blog. fic writers often include their masterlist on it. if you're not set up yet, it can be a placeholder. "pinning this for later" is better than nothing
on mobile, your Edit Appearance button looks like a little paint palette board. here it is on my blog
on desktop, you go to your sidebar first
Edit Appearance brings you here
my bio looks Like That because it has links in it, which have to be coded in html
we don't want to block y'all but you have to show us some signs of life. PLEASE. also this is a blogging website and blogging involves posting or reblogging but that's another conversation
Now that we have a solid confirmation that UTTU cards can not only projects images, but even sounds and smells...
Do you think Vertin collects Schneider's cards just so she doesn't forget her? Like, it's strange that Schneider so far has been the only nonplayable character with UTTU cards. And what we know from her...UTTU still considers her enough of an arcanist to even have cards of her own. Imagine one of the other reasons why Vertin goes to UTTU is for these cards...
Since I'm re-sharing that Conner Superboy + Superman comic again, I wanna talk about what went into it a bit!
I've noticed a lot of fan discussion over how "in character" Clark's initial discomfort over Conner's existence is. Some people think it's too mean considering Superman is supposed to be a beacon of kindness. Others feel that any re-imaginings that involve the two of them instantly getting along erases that initial tension into conflict-free fluff. Granted in the original source material Clark had just come back from the dead so he had a lot going on, haha. But what about adaptations like in the Young Justice show where he didn't go through the Death of Superman arc? Clark is uncomfortable around Conner, but then Conner saves him in the finale and they're on better terms. It's understated and doesn't tell us a lot about either of them.
So that little comic I made was my attempt at tackling the initial tension between Conner and Clark. Since I wanted my take on Superman to commit to his immigrant allegory, I made sure that the way he responds to things all relate to that theme in some way. He has very personal feelings about what legacy means when he's the last of his kind. How does he pass on culture when he's so disconnected from his own? How does he nurture someone who will eventually carry all the expectations he's set for himself?
And then out of nowhere someone took that very personal choice away from him. Someone's gone out and made a new Kryptonian and Clark didn't have a say in it. It's a violation. Sure, Conner didn't have a say in any of that either, but that doesn't stop Clark from feeling very uncomfortable about the circumstances of Conner's creation. My hope is that by keeping Clark's characterization to his immigrant survivor roots, that initial tension towards his own legacy can still feel "in character" in a way that let's us view their relationship through a new lens. Superman should be allowed to have imperfect reactions to things, it makes him way more interesting.
Anyway this is foreshadowing for eventual Conner + Kara + Kal El stuff.
I can’t BELIEVE they’ve gone back to Porky living in a normal house and Daffy living in his bathtub. I have held “Porky & Daffy” in my heart for all these years as an ideal of portrayal. This is the happiest day of my life
SO NICE I'M POSTING THIS TWICE FOR CONTEXT just because i want to look at it again. ughhhhhhh the little bird on Porky's bedpost one of the photos released also has another, DIFFERENT little bird. if he's like Snow White or something i will cry. just don't let him around any dogs because he'll drop them from staircases or encourage them to jump off bridges
I MEANT TO ANSWER THIS WAY EARLIER, BUT IT WORKS OUT BECAUSE LOOK AT WHAT THE WARNER DEUTSCHLAND CHANNEL JUST POSTED TODAY:

I'M SO HAPPY TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO UGHGHGHGGHHG!!!! IT IS SUCH A GOOD PORTRAYAL ISN'T IT.. when LTC first came out i was very confident the opening to Firehouse Frenzy was a reference as well
I'M. SO. EXCITED. i know this needs to speculation like yeah no DUH. BUT AHHHHHHH. UGHHHHH I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE. i'm so excited to see what other homages to other shorts are in store. I'M SO EXCITED I CAN'T ARTICULATE MYSELF. i was gonna have some big eloquent explanation about how much i love Porky & Daffy (the characters too) but my words are stopping short because i literally cannot focus because i am just SHROUDED WITH EXCITEMENTTTTTT CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING!
since i am in a CARTOON SHARING MOOD, here is the opening to Porky & Daffy for those who have never seen it because i have no idea when else i would post the entire opening. it's so endearing!!! look at the shaky camera truck-in and dissolve to the house... back when they were still struggling with how to do diagonal camera pans and double exposure effects.. :'))) i miss reviewing this era of cartoons profusely
i have a deep fondness for stuff like the shot of Porky grabbing the paper, Clampett seemed to have a similar fondness of starting shorts out of this era with close shots like that (Porky's Party opens on a very synonymous shot of Porky lighting the candles on the cake). Bobe Cannon's animation of Porky is adorable. some really smooth and hypnotic Chuck Jones animation of Daffy boxing with the pillows (in Chuck's last short working for Clampett!). this entire exchange is adorable. i am so excited for anything that even entertains the idea of modeling itself after this. i'm so excited.
HE KNEW IT WAS PATROCLUS HE KNEW HE KNEW HECTOR KNEW ALRIGHT!!
I saw another post saying "oooo heehee hector didn't know" just now and my blood pressure skyrocketed
hector knew very well who he was killing when he killed patroclus idk what kinda books yall are reading, is this another thing I should blame on tsoa, is tsoa also to blame for the "hector didn't know it was patroclus" trend?
Thinking again about just how MUCH "I didn't know what to say" gives us and how it can change the whole deal. Because it is the only line that explicitly tells us that he is, as of the time of saying this, still not capable of saying "I love you".
She told him directly in the moment. So he knew what SHE wanted him to say. So how, then, is it possible that he "didn't know what to say"? Unless...
Unless he's saying that telling her was always completely off the table.
Unless he's saying that he knew what she wanted to hear and he knew that he would under no conditions be saying that. "I didn't know what to say". That statement is much closer to "I didn't know how to say it" than "I didn't know why I couldn't say it".
He doesn't say that he doesn't know what would have fixed the situation. He says that he didn't know what to say.
Which means: they are not. the same.
In that moment, with stakes of emotion and heartbreak and not life and death, he would never have told her he loved her. Something in him considers that an awful thing to do. Breaking a commandment he's made to her as a friend before all else. Something in him says "Telling you I love you would hurt you more long-term than letting you believe that I don't." (hmm I wonder why. which possible commandment could that be)
In episodes 4 and 5 of season 4, he does not say "I should have told her" "I should have told her". He says "should I have told her anyways?" "But what else could I have done but what I did?"
And it's the very prioritization that contributes to his guilt now. OH.
THAT'S SEASON 4 FOR HIM:
He spends the season asking himself the question: if I knew she might die if I didn't say it, would I say it, knowing it would break her heart if she survives?
And then she might die if he doesn't say it. And he knows it. And this is the climax. The moment of decision. The "what would I have done if I'd known".
I love Awareness Posts that start off straight away by guilting you and accusing you of Not Caring about something recent that you are now hearing about for the first time
