"pirate everything and donate straight to the creators" sounds like a very good premise but i don't think most people realize how much of a production crew go unnoticed and neglected, especially those whose profession aren't unionized. creators, and when people say this they usually mean the show creator and executive producers, of a production aren't the only ones who work on it. specifically when talking about animation as a medium, there's a lot more to it than you'd think. i very much agree with supporting creators financially but it's also not as easy as everyone makes it out to be especially when you're not even aware of WHO you should be supporting. there's so much production roles that go unnoticed by the average viewer

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! School is out for me, so I can finally rest. Oh man. I needed the rest. It's great to sit there an not move, isn't it? And I got to listen to so many good podcasts this week as well, it really made the last week of school a treat. Let's take a look:

🍔 I feel like every new episode of @midnightburgr is a precious little gem, and this one is no different. I love getting to see pre-found-family Casper. You can't escape the found family, idiot, get cherished! It's been good to watch his character development throughout the show, and then seeing this little missing piece of it that he doesn't quite remember answers several questions about him. I love him. He's the worst and I love him. Alongside each of the three sisters, this season is promising to be absolutely fascinating.

📼 Oh The Magnus Protocol, you never disappoint. I want to run this episode by the teenagers I know to see what they think of it, because I understood what the influencer was saying, but I know many adults who absolutely would not. Like, I'm on this website. Meanwhile, Alice rejecting help is setting her up for something truly awful and I dread what her fate may be. It's delicious.

👻 @monstrousproductions's Travelling Light is often so soft and good--I neglected to include last week's episode on the AD Sunday write-up, like a FOOL, even though it made me CRY--but this episode settles into a gorgeous little ghost story that's honestly the logical conclusion of creative sentients in space. I loved it. On top of that, there's this tiny morsel of Óli's backstory that I am DYING to know more about. I can't wait for the next ep.

What is Morning Star? What fandom is it for?

Morning Star is a fanzine celebrating creators of marginalized gender identity or experience in the Minecraft Youtube space! We welcome fanwork of any creator, no matter how big or small, old or new, as long as they can be tied back to the MCYT sphere, and as long as their gender identity or experience can be argued to be marginalized in some way.

What does the phrase ‘people of marginalised gender identity or experience’ mean & why did you choose it?

We wanted a definition that would include anyone who’s marginalised for gender related matters without making all of those identities out to be the same. This definition includes women, non-binary people, gender non-conforming people, and transgender people of any identity.

Why are you running a zine focused on creators of marginalised gender identity or experience?

MCYT is a very cis male dominated space, and although they might have a smaller reach or a smaller fanbase, we love the passion & creativity of marginalised creators & their fanbases. We want to create something dedicated to show our love. 

Who is modding Morning Star?

We will be seeking out both writing and visual art- if you can put it in a pdf, we welcome it! We'll be keeping a particular eye out for people with unconventional mediums and styles, and for more uncommon forms of fanwork, such as poetry.

Please note: This is a zine celebrating content creators of marginalized gender identity or experience, not characters. Therefore, we will not be accepting fanwork of, for example, trans headcanons for characters played by cis men. i’m seeing the moon very prominently when it comes to manifesting the things you want. if you’re not working with or aligning your manifestations with the moon, then you should definitely give it a try. research about moon cycles and the effect it has on spiritual power, and you can learn when and when not to utilise your manifestation powers.

artistry is also a theme here. maybe picking up a creative and artistic hobby can allow you to focus your power. draw, write, sing, make a vision board. whatever it is that you do, make sure you are bringing life to your manifestation. let it spill from your mind and into your hands so you can see it with your own eyes. and when you’ve created your version of the thing you want, it could come along a lot quicker.

and lastly, cut off any illusions. it’s easy to think that you want something, but is it really what you want or do you just want it because you are influenced to think that way? for example, i may want to manifest love in my life because everyone around me is in a relationship. i think that’s what i want because others and myself are influencing me to think that way, when in reality, a relationship right now is that last thing i want. be clear with your wants and your intentions to gain them.

i’m getting “go sit in the corner and think about what you’ve done” energy here. is there something that has happened recently in your life that is affecting your mood, your manifestations and your overall life right now? is there something you feel guilty of? this feeling is strong here, and it’s definitely an indication that you need to deeply reflect on what has happened and where you want to go from here. your intentions are clouded by the uneasiness in your energy, so try meditating, yoga or other activities to line up your thoughts and clear your mind because with a clear mind and clear intentions, you can manifest more strongly.

there is also a theme of conflict here so if there is conflict in your life right now, be it big or small, this pile is definitely for you. and unfortunately, i have the feeling that the needs you want to manifest will not come into your life until the conflict is resolved, or you at least put in the effort in to resolve it. it’s very much a “do i deserve it right now?” kind of vibe. that’s not to say you have nice things, but you can’t invite such things into your life successfully if the energy of your life doesn’t match the energy of the manifestation. similarly, you can’t safely dock a boat if the waters are stormy, so try to settle those stormy waters so its safe for the manifestation to come in and settle.

i think those who chose this pile may be hesitating. now this is ambiguous, i can’t tell entirely what it is your are hesitating on, but it likely has something to do with getting what you want in your life. it’s very much a “just f*cking do it” kind of message that i’m receiving. as in, you have this image of having something in your life, but you’re not actively doing anything to achieve this outcome. you can manifest all you want, but if you don’t put active effort into making a path in your life for the thing you want to enter, it won’t come.

and i feel like the answer will be blindingly obvious once you realise it. it’s right in front of you, but you’re simply not seeing it. you need to take lead of your life. use both your actions and your words. there’s an opportunity here, i can feel it. it’s an elephant in the room – you’re refusing to commit to a solution even though it’s within your eyesight, within your grasp. just hone in on it and take action!

it would also be worth a try to start practising gratitude if you don’t already. maybe a journal to jot down all the things you are thankful for – this would help what was mentioned in the first paragraph in identifying what is around you and perhaps what you’ve been looking for all along will be right there.

you have goals, so write them down. manifestation journaling may seem like a basic method, and if you’re like me, it’s hard to make it a consistent habit when you rarely see results. but the message i’m getting is to do this. if basic journaling doesn’t work, try mixing it up. use coloured pens, stickers, notebooks. write in different fonts. print out an image of what you want and write on that. meditate with your journal. i think this could be helpful.

the number five is speaking out. it could be meditating for five minutes, writing manifestations five times in a row, or five times throughout the day. things will start to look up if you integrate the number five into your manifesting, especially if it has anything to do with money and finances.

and i want to double back on meditating. and it doesn’t need to be meditation specifically, there are many ways to be more mindful. i just see you with your eyes closed, contemplating your thoughts and holding what you care about close to you. and when you open your eyes, you’ll be confident because you know you will get what you want.

Hey! I’ve noticed that since Danny’s not been the Iron Fist his company’s been getting a bit more attention, especially in Gang War, and I was wondering what the deal is with Rand Corp lately? It seems to be quite Tech focused recently, however the last important thing I remember happening with it was in Immortal Iron Fist a few years back when Danny was making it into a Non-Profit. I vaguely remember that still being the deal with it in the Power-Man/Iron Fist series from the early 2010s with Meachum being involved, but I don’t think I’ve read anything where it’s been too important since. Thought I’d see if I could get some answers from you as your Iron Fist knowledge far exceeds mine, and it’d be good to be in the know if it is going to be getting more attention in future comics. The Rand Corp situation has been difficult to track, and I feel like it's fallen victim to the kind of continuity inconsistency that tends to result from the short runs/frequent creative team changes that Iron Fist has experienced...basically since the 90s. I really appreciate you asking this because it gave me an excuse to go back and take a closer look at the modern Rand Corp timeline which, simply put, is this:

In Immortal Iron Fist, Danny commits to donating away his fortune, which he never really wanted in the first place. At the end of that series he shuts down Rand Corp, sells his penthouse and moves in with Misty, and plans to funnel what's left of his money into his and Misty's kung fu school/youth support center, the Thunder Dojo.

As you mention, by Power Man and Iron Fist volume 2, Danny has transformed the bones of Rand Corp into the Rand Foundation, a humanitarian non-profit, which Joy Meachum steps in to help him run (I think it would have been fun for them to call it the Rand-Meachum Foundation, for old times' sake and full-circle-ness, but hey).

In Defenders (2011), with no explanation or fanfare, we learn that Rand Corp has transformed into Dongxi/Rand (presumably through a merger of some kind). Jeryn Hogarth is back on board, and the company still seems to be involved in transportation technology, including privatized space travel. There's already no mention of the Rand Foundation.

In Living Weapon, the dilapidated tower that formerly housed Rand Corp is taken over by Steel Serpent and the One and then fully destroyed when Danny, um, imbues it with the combined chi of the citizenry of K'un-Lun and transforms it into a giant mech to battle a god (man, I love Living Weapon). Brenda Swanson mentions Danny's charity work during her interview with him in the first issue, but he was also doing charity work long before he shut down Rand Corp. There's no specific mention of the non-profit, and not even any mention of Dongxi/Rand. Defenders (2011) ended (spoiler) with a reality rewrite. Was Donxgi/Rand erased, perhaps?

Power Man and Iron Fist volume 3 is centered around Luke and Danny re-starting Heroes for Hire. No mention is made of Rand Corp or the Rand Foundation.

In Iron Fist volume 5 Danny still has quite a bit of money; he pays a million dollars in cash to a fight club and says the set-up for Shou-Lao in his apartment cost millions, not to mention his security for the Book of the Iron Fist. No explanation is given. There's no mention of Rand Corp or the Rand Foundation.

In Defenders (2017), Danny attends a high-society function on behalf of Rand Corp and personally buys Night Nurse a building. The company seems to be back. I was a bit baffled by this when the series was coming out, but at the time, I took it with a grain of salt because the whole comic felt slightly removed from the normal 616 continuity. Now, however, it fits perfectly into the general confusion surrounding this topic.

Immortal Iron Fists seems to be the most recent official turning point. Rand Corp is definitively stated as being "back up and running" following its destruction in Living Weapon. Danny rides around in a fancy limo. He mentions that a lot of his time is being taken up "running the company" and refers to himself as a "multi-billionaire". No mention of the Rand Foundation. No context or explanation for why he decided to revive Rand Corp. Even Danny's character bio on the title page says that he still "presides over his deceased father's billion-dollar company". It almost feels like a retcon, but Danny has never, ever ridden around in a limo before, so I'm not even sure how to categorize it.

Heart of the Dragon and Iron Fist volume 6 both include vague, fleeting references to Rand Corp, but nothing conclusive. Phantom Limb has nothing at all.

And then we have Gang War, which is written as though Rand Corp has just been around this whole time, doing R&D on cool fight suits for Danny to give to Luke.

The casualness of it all is what leads me to suspect that it was just a big continuity bumble on the part of the various creative teams, rather than an intentional shift in the status quo. I'm not saying that big changes to Danny's world haven't been made with no set-up or explanation before (cough), but I would think that if he were actively bringing the company back as a money-making, tech-creating entity, after being so emphatic about shutting it down, we would have least have had a scene at some point in the past few years of him saying, "You know what? I think I want to revive Rand Corp because...etc." And we haven't. Thus, I'm diagnosing this as a situation where the Rand Foundation non-profit was probably forgotten following PMIF volume 2, which led to the events of the end of Immortal being forgotten, which led to creative teams going "Oh yeah, Danny Rand. He's a rich guy who owns a company, right?" and then just having Rand Corp and Danny's fortune still be a thing because they forgot that they, quite significantly, stopped being one a while ago. Which is a big, frustrating shame, because his decision to dump his father's company and get rid of his money was, I feel, a really important and compelling moment in Danny's journey. As we look towards Danny's future, I'll be curious to see what role Rand Corp might play in this new chapter of his life.

Okay, so yesterday I was tempted to post something along the lines of "Colin! Come out and plaaaaay with us!" because I was missing him and wishing he'd do/post something or appear somewhere for us to enjoy his delightfulness... but I dunno, I just wasn't feeling it. Like, my vibes were telling me it wasn't the right time to summon Colin and doing so would be fruitless.

Turns out it wasn't time to summon Colin himself, it was just time to summon Dream Colin - who thankfully appeared without me needing to summon him, anyway.

And what a lovely dream it was!

To remind everyone who might not be following KW's Little Dream World, I have a tendency to have continuing dreams based in several different little worlds, where the premises are different and sometimes the cast of characters are different. This dream took place in a world where I'm part of a travel club that regularly goes on outings and adventures together, traveling to different countries and events together for a discounted price and the companionship of fellow friendly folks. Colin is a part of this group - but being famous, he basically has the "skybox" equivalent of a membership where he gets his own private room/transportation and most of us never actually see him (or his family when they join him) because he's very private and a bit reclusive.

So! Today's dream was about a little gala even being thrown to honor a couple members of the club who chartered a new deal going forward with an investor who would help fund our trips AND donate money to charity on our behalf in exchange for - okay dreams aren't very specific on the business end of deals, okay, but it seemed like a great deal for everyone and we were all happy.

The gala was fun, and the next day, we were making a cute little animated video to document the event. I was adding my parts to the video, and my animated self was re-living them in the dream as I went, when Animated Me suddenly spotted Animated Dream Colin arrive at the gala.

This isn't right, I thought. He wasn't there last night.

So Animated Me went over to investigate the situation as Real Me questioned the others around me to find out what was going on.

"Colin wasn't there. I would've noticed if he'd been there! What's going on?"

"No, he was totally there. Don't you remember?"

"What?! No! I couldn't have missed him!!"

"Oh, you definitely didn't miss him..."

And then the animated sequence took center stage again. I didn't know what to draw/do because I didn't remember whatever my friends were claiming had happened the night before, so I just... did what I would've done (well, what Dream Me would've done - Real Life Me would've just died on the spot) in the moment. I went over and introduced myself to Colin and said it was an honor to meet him and I was so glad he'd come to our event.

He was gracious and lovely, of course, and then extended his hand like a gentleman and said, "Shall we dance?"

And then there was a record scratch and the Real replaced the Animated once again.

"Okay, guys... I KNOW this didn't happen. I would not have forgotten this if it had happened. What the hell are you guys up to?"

"Are you SURE you'd remember it? Maybe the shock of it was so much you completely blocked it from your memory."

"I don't think that's how that works. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's not AT ALL how that works."

"Well, whatever... We all seem to remember it, so the problem's with you, not us."

And then the Animated resumed, but post-dance (which was a shame, but I suppose my mind can only be so creative and coming up with an actual "dancing with Colin" scene would've been a bit too much for it. I mean, was it a slow dance? A fast dance? The Robot? I guess we shall never truly know). Me and Colin chatted a little bit more, and then he left.

However, it was winter time and very snowy out, so we were all a bit concerned about him driving in the snow. He'd also expressed something about his tires going flat sometimes in the snow, so we were also worried about that. And it turned out he returned about 5 minutes after he left, saying his tires had gone flat and he'd had to call for a ride and it would be about 20 minutes until the car arrived.

Of course, I took this opportunity to chat with him some more, and when the car arrived, I offered to walk him out to it. He said that would be lovely, and we headed out into the snow and ice.

After a few moments of walking (I guess the car couldn't get into the parking lot because it was snowed in, so we had to walk across it to get to the car), I revealed to him that this was all a little strange, because it was supposed to be a recollection thing, a documentary about what had happened the night before, but that this was all new to me.

"Hmm," he said cryptically.

I side-eyed him majorly at that. "You're not going to say anything, because you're in on whatever this is they're doing, aren't you?"

And all he said back was, "Hmm."

At this point, I was pretty sure that this was Real Colin working with my Real Friends to create this little Animated Adventure for Real Me to enjoy as a thank you for brokering such a nice deal for us all. I was super touched and pleased by it all, and gave Colin a bit of a sideways "while we're walking" hug.

I then realized Colin wasn't walking, he was gliding, because he was wearing Flip Flop Skates. Like, Flip Flops on the top, but Ice Skates underneath. And I just started laughing and he seemed a bit concerned I was laughing at him, so I patted his hand reassuringly and said, "Never change, Colin. Never, ever change - because there's no one else quite like you and you're absolutely wonderful just as you are."

He got a bit embarrassed at that, in that adorable "quit saying nice things to me, but also please keep saying nice things to me" way he has that is so charming and delightful, and then he said, "Can you eat?"

I couldn't help but tease him a little when I answered, "Yes, I have been known to consume food on occasion." But I knew what he meant, so I added, "And I could go for some now, yeah."

Then he said his ride had mentioned stopping for dinner on the way home, and would I like to join and-

DINGLE DANGLE BING BONG DOODLE-OOOOOO

My alarm went off.

Another lovely Dream Colin Adventure ruined by Real Life 😭

But it was so much fun while it lasted!!! Thanks for coming out to play with me, Dream Colin!

Now let's hope the real thing pokes his head out and says "Hi!" to us sometime soon. I miss that lovely man.

NaNoWriMo and the Meaning of Sunshine

Did you know that National Novel Writing Month is a 501(c)3 nonprofit? Today, NaNoWriMo Executive Director Grant Faulkner explores the guiding metaphor for how he thinks of NaNoWriMo—and how we’ve been approaching fundraising. (For more, see Community Fundraising Means Showing Up for Each Other.)

NaNoWriMo is an ecosystem.

No, NaNoWriMo is part of an ecosystem—it’s a community within an ecosystem, like a grove of apple trees in a wider ecosystem that also includes butterflies and bees (let’s say they are the writers, pollinating the world with stories), forest sprites (because ecosystems hold magical possibilities), flora and fauna, and a running brook.

The organisms that live in our ecosystem go beyond writers and forest sprites, though, and include schools, readers, teachers, libraries, book stores, and other writing organizations—all interconnected because we develop our stories, our voices, our discipline, our joy, our purpose, and our imagination with others, not just alone.

A single tree, no matter how large and mighty, can not sustain itself without the tiniest microbes of life teeming in the soil around its roots.

The ecosystem flourishes when all of its elements are working together—when organizations like NaNoWriMo can nourish writers and teachers and schools, and everyone grows creatively, lifting each other up, cheering each other on.

But to flourish, the ecosystem needs something else: it needs sun and water, and the sun and the water take the form of donations. This is why we ask for donations. Without the sun and water of others’ support, the ecosystem becomes stressed—as if there has been a drought or deforestation (or a “destorystation,” God forbid). 

The Symbiosis of Stories

Some people view ecosystems and the species within them through the lens of competition—i.e., only the strongest survive. But the definition of a healthy ecosystem is one that’s symbiotic—where relationships are formed and resources are exchanged and growth happens in harmony. 

We are all called upon to contribute to this ecosystem, whether it’s by donating or volunteering or simply spreading the word. A healthy and diverse ecosystem is one that provides abundance to those who live in it—food, shelter, recreation, and natural beauty.

"Nature is not a place to visit, it is home,” said the poet Gary Snyder.

Just like our stories are our home. Our stories provide shelter. Our stories give sustenance. Our stories help us breathe. Our stories connect us to others. And our stories help us see the forest sprites that would otherwise be invisible.

Our contributions to this story-powered ecosystem are meaningfully rooted in the support of our donor community. Year to year, we’ve had anywhere from 6,000 to 8,000 of our writers join us with a small dollar donation. Thanks to this support, we’re proud to be a largely community-funded organization with more than 35% annual revenue coming from individual donors.

Zine sales are officially closed

As was the case last year, we pitched the idea of a second zine in discord and social media to see if there was interest. We got an overwhelmingly positive response from both fans and creators. And again there were definite challenges to overcome and moments of difficulty. But through it all, the support and enthusiasm of the fandom kept things going.

The passion and creativity of our community is always so strong. So to everyone who jumped on our boat, whether you bought, participated, publicized, or just spread the word, we can’t thank you enough. All of you made it possible to bring our little fandom baby a second life.

🌟 We are not completely done however 🌟

✨ We have some wonderful people in our Spanish speaking community that are working very hard to translate the entire Zine, knowing this is a very large part of our fandom, we don't want you to miss out.

That being said, we are opening the Zine sales back up in the fall.

We'll keep you posted on the progress and about when it will go on sale again. So if you missed out of getting a zine, both versions will be available again in the very near future!

✨ We closed sales on the 2nd of August after a small extension, and in a about three months time, we were able to achieve our sales goal + one, with a total profit of $710.00.

Overworked Mascots Family in my AUs

Okay so this is to explain the whole dynamic of the whole entire family tree when it comes to this Universe

My Universe is also known as Three Toons and a Baby just a hilarious play on Three Men and a Baby,

Mickeys Eldest is Eleanor Patsy born to him and Minnie in 1975, she is MtF Trans she is a joyful sort that will remind you of Lottie from Princess and the Frog she seems spoiled at first but really it's just because she's overly exuberant as Mickey jokes you can hear her excited squeal 3 miles away

She is also the most powerful tune in Hollywood merely because she knows everybody from the janitors to the big CEOs she may gossip at times, but she is known for treating everybody equally. She may have a giant mansion behind wrought iron gates, but even her servants, Maids Butlers, ect, are living the high life while taking care of her and Oliver

One of their Butler's retired and they asked him what he wanted to do he wanted to cruise around the world for the rest of his life so they literally paid him over $200k so he could do that

Eleanor is what we wish Billionares would be, in her world once Elon Musk dropped out of paying for the EU world hunger thing she stepped up and was like Hey I will pay it for him,

Yeah she's a force to be reckoned with her cute little thing is that if she tweaks her nose it activates her magic which she inherited from her parents, but she can do it with a hand wave,

Their second daughter is Marian born right in the middle of the divorce in 2023 although she's biologically Minnies, she doesn't see Minerva as her mother at all since she was raised like Walter with Bugs and Daffy

She is a genius when I am saying this she graduated by the age of 15 from high school she is a leader, very inquisitive, just like Mickey she likes to be challenged to solve problems,

Bugs and Daffys kids are Dorothy Eileen and Oliver a set of twins, Oliver is unique in his albinism being the only Warner toon with it

Oliver is complex as he is with Eleanor but they got together before Mickey, Bugs and Daffy did, so it really doesn't bother anybody despite the weird circumstances that they should by technicality be step siblings,

Oliver has more Daffy in him than his twin he's a gossip who knows his fashion like the back of his hand but his real specialty is Nails he's a nail tech, which is how he hears about the latest gossip in Hollywood.

Dorothy is known as Dolly and she's definitely more of bugs then Daffy, she's the one playing poker on Friday nights living a relatively calm life she's a divorcee with one child named Viola, she's suburban mom wine aunt vibes,

However the real wild card is Louis, he is a donor baby. Anyone remember Honey Bunny before Lola?

As Honey was getting less and less work from Warner, she was planning for her future which included wanting to be a single parent. She was one who wanted a kid, but not the partner. However it was the 90s and nobody would give her the chance so Bugs talked to Daffy and then donated, leading to Louis.

So Louis really wasn't connected to his other siblings as Honey raised him on her own across the country. He didn't even know Bugs was his donor until he was 18 and getting into acting,

Louis is also deaf, he was born this way this didn't change Honeys love at all for him. Fortunately by the time Walter is born in 2027 his mother has dissappeared if you don't understand she's dead because she was forgotten completely. So he does rely as an adult very much on his father's side.

As for the children between Mickey and Bugs that's Walter Fredrick, a mischievous Scamp with a penchant for trouble he's got a brilliant mind and a creative streak as big as his namesakes,

Eventually Walter even does something that no Toon has ever been able to achieve when working with animators one day he is entrusted with a project bringing a Cartoon to life, they do it thinking he can't yes they were trying to be mean

But he teaches them all a lesson when he actually brings a Toon to life, they do not know if this is a part of his gags and ability which he received from Mickey however it is still a shocking turn of events.

He prefers a quiet Studio though and a canvas he's always got paint on him somehow with his paintbrush behind his ear he's definitely like Walt in the sense of he can be larger than life but when alone he's humble gentle and kind

The other three you may see but these guys are not original characters is the Animaniacs Yakko Wakko and Dot Warner however they do have biological ties because of my headcanons and thoughts to Mickey they are his nephews and niece

They are the only three children of Oswald in Ortensia who were forcibly locked away after getting pissed off at the treatment of their family and causing the 1934 fire which took out 15 Acres of the Warner Bros Lots this is why they were locked in the tower

The damage they did was equal to 34 million nowadays. But if you ask them they will still look at you and say it was worth it,

I'm not asking for anything personal for me I want to help my people in these hard times. I know Harringrove fandom has helped so many people for years, and I was in some of them too. To start off with (and because I'm just too excited to not talk about this) we have a piece of score composed by the unbelievably talented Grimrite Showrunner Cai Gwilym Prtichard (who also produces sound art under the name Dinas) and Grimrite have been slowly planning and working on a score during the script writing stage.

Inspired by the process that went into the Akira score we have created a few pieces of score before any other work has been done on the episodes, I feel that generating the mood first can really change the course of the way certain scenes are put together.

To settle on a consistent mood (besides just going from the scripts of course) I created a playlist of the kind of vibe we wanted, as well as just talking about it in discord calls (usually late at night)

We tried a variety of methods, from just talking vibes to graphical notation created by me and then interpreted by Grimrite

Grimrite definitely has a specific style and a really interesting part of the (ongoing) process is developing a common understanding when we talk about music, coming at sound/music from different angles and meeting in the middle has been a really interesting process. Grimrite finds balance to be very important sonically and has a certain set of sonic textures they work super well in. And so channelling that into the way both I and Chain of Being works has also been another part of the creative process.

I think that there is a shared passion for sound between the two of us that makes this collaboration super rewarding, like we genuinley both love sound and music so much and we really hope it comes through in the score.

the party + social media headcanons

mike would be a twitch streamer. certified #gaymer that'll play pretty much anything. malds real fucking bad (but not in a serious, toxic way just in a funny he's a sore loser that gets dunked on way) and gets baited by his chat all the time. definitely had a moment like this and when disaster struck he just immediately ended the fucking stream lmao. he let his chat bully him into the heart rate monitor challenge exactly one time and never again because they wouldn't stop teasing him over how it went up whenever will teased him during a multi-player game. he plays with the party a lot, but people are always asking will and max to come on because they loooove will and love how max roasts the shit out of him. will drew/made his subscriber emotes ofc. on his just chatting days they'll rank things, discuss the latest star wars hot topic, or talk about movies and the art of storytelling.

dustin mostly posts on youtube. he makes videos showcasing his peculiar inventions, some of which are actually really cool engineering feats and others are more like that of the "unnecessary inventions" guy's work. he's always super happy and excited about whatever he's doing and it's really contagious. he always explains everything thoroughly and titles his videos like so: SUPER COOL TITLE HERE (REAL) (NOT CLICKBAIT!). he includes a blooper reel at the end with the jokes that (rightfully) didn't make the cut.

will is an art (+gaming ofc) streamer! he streams himself drawing on twitch and it's really laid back. he'll be working away while the chat-created playlist plays in the background, looking up intermittently to see what people are saying. people like to donate or use their points to say silly things / use any of the sound effects to get his attention. he uses the Good, Professional footage to make a timelapsed video for his youtube, because twitch is just for chilling. stream titles are something like "draw with me!", "boys night", "it's a paint kind of day", or "parallel play? on MY stream? it's more likely than you think". mike hangs around a lot and el lurks. he always says hi to people and tries to answer as many of his chatters as he can. when he games he LOVES to play horror games in the dark, especially the shitty ones. he gets lots of views on those. but he plays mostly anything, too! like nintendo speedruns or he'll play smash with his viewers. he also vlogs sometimes for his youtube. just amasses little clips throughout the week or month or whatever and tosses them together for fun and to work on his more creative editing skills. he goes through his banned list on twitch and lets the community decide if they get unbanned or not like it's a court trial or something lmao.

lucas is an instagram baddie. he doesn't even try to be one, he just is. gets hella fucking likes and comments including these emojis: 😳🫠😍🔥. writes really sweet captions. makes stupid fucking bank on ads and promos. likes to post really embarrassing zoomed-in pictures of mike and dustin on his story when they hang out, then one of himself to even it out. you already Know he's got hella selfies with max and candid shots of her<3. he and will do cute poses whenever they snap a pic together, and there's a really cute snap of lucas and the twins where their cheeks are all squished together n they're cheesin' real hard (it was them out and about downtown). has a video where he makes a shot with his back turned and the entire party's going crazy cheering, shaking him, screaming, etc etc.

max would explode my head with her mind if she heard me say this, but she's also an instagram user. she posts lots of videos of her skating. she'll post her landing a new trick and then the 3984039 times she wiped out beforehand. also takes pics of her favorite tagger's (zombie boy) work. posts selfies where she's all scraped up after wiping out or where she's got a hello kitty band-aid on her face (courtesy of el, of course). a lot of her pictures are more artsy, like instead of taking a selfie, she'll take a picture of your shoes side by side, blurry candids of whoever she's hanging out with, or pictures of places she's been. doesn't always caption them, because she likes to be mysterious. replies to the party's comments and not very many other people's.

el is mostly the girl behind the camera. she takes a lot of max's videos and pictures, helps will set up his camera when he's doing a rare tutorial, and helps mike decide which picture to use whenever he posts something. still, she does her own thing, too! she loves to post her crafts on instagram and twitter. she makes jewelry and trinkets to sell on etsy. always takes pictures of her food, her good outfits, and herself. :) her instagram has a theme and she posts updates on twitter. she always likes the party's posts and comments on them. if she's lurking on someone's stream, she'll take a picture of her screen and text it to them with a random emoji. she also posts a lot of pictures of her friends with captions so sweet they'll make your teeth rot. she likes to take the party's phones and sneak a silly selfie of herself and never tell them about it lmao. takes a super zoomed in picture of you when you're not looking and texts it to you with "hi :)" attached.

will and mike are always on the same team if they can be.

they fucking DOMINATE at codenames, but e|max did sweep the floor with them in two rounds once which they claim was bc of cheating.

they also play lots of minecraft (yes they put their beds next to each other n share loot thank u) (and by "share loot" i mean mike drops cool shit for will and will drops bread n meat whenever mike is getting his ass handed to him). sometimes will walks up to him and mike pauses what he's doing to turn around and will just whacks him before running away or digging a hole beneath himself. will never drops anything valuable for him because every single time he's done it, mike goes and dies in the most stupid way possible right after lmao.

mike is one of will's mods and he'll ban anyone for anything.

will is one of mike's mods, too. sometimes he comes to mike's defense when ppl are clowning him, but other times he'll just make it worse by sharing an embarrassing anecdote<3 LMAO

if will is streaming, mike always chooses to raid him and it makes will smile and blush every time.

mike hates backseat gamers and it's a bannable offense for everyone except will ofc, who is coincidentally one of the worst backseat gamers of all time lmao.

will roasts mike's taste whenever he's ranking movies on stream. they get into it but come to an eventual compromise over star wars. will tells him he's hopeless n mike is trying to respond but the chat is going crazy with sound effects and spamming L in the chat which makes mike pretend to end the stream by putting his "thank you for watching" title card up on screen lmaoooo

2023 Leo Cross-Quarter Day

The Sun is at precisely 15° Leo, astrologically halfway between the Cancer Solstice and the Libra Equinox.

So much Leo-Taurus tension. The Sun and Venus Rx are getting closer to each other, with their inferior conjunction coming up on August 13. This makes us warm, loving, and playful, but also prone to vanity and frivolousness. We can get angry when the other person doesn’t play along with our romantic intentions; creatively, we can be rampaging little prima donnas. We can also be a little too performative - and when we aren’t being genuine, it turns other people off.

The bunch in Taurus - Moon, Jupiter, and Uranus - can be just as convinced of their own superiority (if not as flashy in expression as Leo). They’re pushing us to back up our vanity etc. with something substantial.

Note that the Sun is exactly square Jupiter, and Venus is exactly square Uranus! The former can make us confident leaders, but it can also make us pompous and lazy. The lattter can give excitement in the love and creative lives, but it doesn’t promise anything lasting (even though it’s in fixed signs).

If you’re in the southern hemisphere, this is Imbolc (aka Brigid, Candlemas) - time to gather and mobilize the resources you need to accomplish your goals. It looks like working on developing traits or accomplishments to help you become a better version of yourself.

Up here in the northern hemisphere, it’s Lughsnasad (aka Lammas) - the beginnings of the harvest. What we started back at Yule is now coming to fruition. (The lunar phase in this chart, Disseminating, reflects this.) Kind of like election night on TV, announcing “early results are in.” What have you learned? In her book Circle Round, Starhawk writes about Lughsnasad as a time to honor teachers and coaches - anyone who helps guide children. In the US, it’s “back to school” time, and a worthy commemoration of this holiday might be donating to a “school supplies for kids” charity.

For me, who loathes hot weather, this is a treasured time. Right after the Fourth of July, I start straining my ears, each night, for the first crickets - a definite harbinger of approaching autumn. The shadows are suddenly much darker, too - although the older I get, the less able I am, to see this phenomenon.

But the best part is (always) the FOOD. Corn on the cob, blueberries, peaches, tomatoes, canteloupe - I am usually very broke in August, but I always try to get ahold of some of those five August treats, to celebrate.
