Accomplice (Keith/Tenebris & Custom MC)

No romance, just a no good very bad day for everyone involved. Bambi and Keith discover they’ve been cheated on at the same time and things go from bad to worse. Inspired by this ask.

AN: I haven’t written anything since 2017/2018, but the call of the @dualityvn fanfic contest was too strong. Please forgive any issues, I have no idea what I’m doing.

The knock at the door was unexpected, the rattle of a key in the lock even moreso. When Keith stepped out of the bedroom to see what was going on, his partner, Sam, met his eyes with a guilty look. She seemed to know what was about to happen, her shoulders straightening resolutely as the door opened.

Another woman stumbled in, arms were weighed down by groceries making her unsteady. Sam stepped forward to take a bag and balanced the woman with a hand on her elbow. The motion was domestic, familiar. Keith’s stomach sank.

“I’m so sorry to drop in unannounced, I noticed you were low on some things the other day and wanted to make sure you had enough for the week, I know how crazy work’s been.” The stranger was pulling out items and restocking Sam’s cabinets with practiced movements. When she finally spotted him, she jolted with surprise. Keith tensed too, readying himself for a confrontation. It didn’t happen. Instead, her face brightened into a welcoming smile. “Shit sorry, I didn’t even see you there! You must be a friend of Sam’s.” 

The woman’s attitude caught him off guard. She didn’t seem to be aware that anything was wrong. His brain rushed to smooth the edges of his assumptions; maybe he wasn’t being cheated on, maybe he’d been too hasty to assume. A sister or cousin? A friend? An assistant? Tenebris stirred in the back of his mind, drawn out by the frantic chaos of his thoughts. The woman’s next words startled them both into silence.

“My name’s Bambi, I’m Sam’s fiance.” Bambi wiped her hands on her jeans and offered one to him to shake. “I just stopped by to drop off some groceries, I didn’t mean to interrupt. I’ll be out of your hair in a sec.” 

Keith took her hand without thinking, but couldn’t bring himself to shake it. Bambi’s smile wilted at the look in his eye. They both heard Sam cough behind her. 

“Keith, listen-” His hand tightened around the stranger’s at the sound of Sam’s voice, colored with guilt. The remnants of Bambi’s smile crumbled away as the pieces began to fall into place and she squeezed his hand back involuntarily. They stared at each other, frozen.

Keith looked pale. Bambi would later come to see the omen in the blue splotches crawling up his neck and the uncanny curl to the corner of his mouth, but at the time her frantic brain twisted the strangeness into something she could understand. A lifetime of self-imposed service pushed her legs toward the window, the clamminess building in her hands making it easy to slide out of his grasp. 

“What are you doing?” Sam asked, incredulous.

She blustered about the lock with hands numb and shaking as though she’d just plunged them in ice water. An old routine turned awkward and clumsy with the shock to her system. “He needs air.” 

Did he? Keith wasn’t sure. His head was a mess of his own swirling thoughts and the frustrated prodding of Tenebris. The other inhabitant knew something was happening and wanted to step in, but Keith wouldn’t yet relinquish control, regardless of the temptation to just let go. There was an innocent here and he could tell by her demeanor that Bambi hadn’t known, either. He didn’t know how far Tenebris’ rage would extend if he didn’t take the time to sort his thoughts and inform him of the situation properly.

Sam seemed to take pity on Bambi and nudged her away so she could undo the lock and slide the window open herself. Bambi looked confusedly at her own trembling hands. Sam wasn’t shaking at all, which seemed wrong. She felt like it should’ve been the opposite. 

Bambi had learned young that relationships were fleeting, frequently slipping through her fingers. She refused to be lonely but kept a loose grip, letting one relationship go and then reaching back into the bucket for more. Made herself useful so they’d have a reason to keep her around a little longer, but not begrudging them when they left. The way her mother had held a white knuckled grip to her cheating father had seemed embarrassing to her in her adolescence. The longer it had gone on, the more Bambi had wanted to take a hammer to those fingers so her mother would finally let go and fall away somewhere better. The desperation of wanting to hold on to someone like that became associated with the sympathetic humiliation Bambi had felt for her. She’d vowed to never do that to herself long ago, so why was this affecting her so? 

She squeezed crescents into her palms, shame coloring her cheeks as everything came together for her. She’d gotten too comfortable, held on too tight. Just like her mother. A toothbrush wrapped in a paper towel, found shoved into the back of the medicine cabinet. A sweater, out of place in Sam’s pile of laundry. The orchid that had been thriving on the windowsill despite Sam’s self proclaimed touch of death. How long had she willingly ignored the signs? She’d let Sam become important, let the ring on her finger dig a mark into her skin. Hers. Mine. 

She willed herself to feel anything else about her own lot, but embarrassment reigned over all. In the face of that, she decided instead to feel for Keith. There was more there to work with, bubbling up in her chest like a witch’s brew. Indignation. Anger. Offense. Sadness. Pain. She tended to those emotions, urging them to loosen her own grip on the relationship, pop her fingers off the ledge one at a time as though breaking a seal. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. A deep breath, a release of tension.

“What the hell, Sam? How long has this been going on?” 

“Not long, I swear! It was just some fun, I wanted to try something new before we tied everything down.” She mistook Bambi’s anger as hurt for her own self, a loose thread in the sweater that Sam could pull to unravel her into forgiveness. She knew Bambi didn’t like to fight, that she’d roll over and show her belly if it would make the conflict stop, regardless of her own feelings. This wasn’t about Bambi’s feelings, though. Her need to defend overshadowed her aversion to conflict.

“Something? He’s a person and he’s right here!” She didn’t bother asking if he knew, the truth was written in his wide eyes, turned towards the floor, and the distressed pinch to his brows. His mouth was clenched shut and a muscle twitched in his jaw. Keith looked like he was having a conversation in his head and feared he’d speak it aloud if he eased up even a fraction. 

“Keith, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know, I-” She didn’t know why she was apologizing, maybe because she didn’t know if Sam would. Someone had to be sorry. “I don’t know what to say.” 

He didn’t either, a small part of him just wanted to take her hand again. There was comfort in being tethered to someone as lost in the situation as himself. 

Seeing that placation wouldn’t work, Sam bristled and turned defensive. “I’m sorry it turned out like this, but Bambi you’re so fucking hard to love! You keep everyone away, even me!”

“What?”

“I thought we could make things work, that you’d open up if things between us were more stable but you’re so damn cold! I was lonely, that’s it.” Sam scoffed, “you’re not even crying! You cried watching a fucking documentary last week but not over this?” 

There was a stabbing feeling in Bambi’s chest, a rage clawing to the surface at Sam’s assessment of her. She wasn’t wrong, but she didn’t want to hear it. She wanted to strike back, find a soft spot in the other woman’s armor and dig her nails into it, but she didn’t know what to say. 

She didn’t have to say anything. A blur of movement tore past her line of sight and collided into Sam. The snap of a rubber band pulled too tight. For a moment Bambi didn’t move, only to stumble back a heartbeat later as though hit with the shockwave of Sam and Keith’s impact. 

He drew back a blue fist -was it always that color?- and something wet landed on her cheek. As though in a trance, she brought a finger to it. Red. Oh shit. 

“APOLOGIZE!” He shouted, his voice was raspier than she’d expected. There were other words too, but they all sounded garbled and incoherent to her. Through the fog of the shock, she thought the sound of it didn’t quite suit Keith’s delicate features.

Sam didn’t apologize, Bambi doubted she could anymore. She couldn’t see much past the haze of his movement, but each thud of contact was beginning to sound like an open palm slapping the surface of a pool. 

Bambi was on the ground. She didn’t remember dropping, but her tailbone ached so it couldn’t have been graceful. When she tried to scoot away, her sock slid tractionless through the pool of blood lazily inching towards her. When had she taken her shoe off? 

It wasn’t long before he stopped moving, shoulders hunched, and she noticed the faint shape of a women's size nine and a half printed on his sleeve in dirt. Her other, still shoe-covered, foot managed to gain a bit of traction and she shot back into the cabinets behind her hard enough to knock the wind out of herself. 

He turned to face her and she saw that he was different. Blue skin, eyes wide and bloodshot with pinprick violet irises. Odd lines stretched from the corners of his mouth which pulled back in a grimace full of knifelike teeth. She wasn’t as hung up as she thought she should be on this change in appearance. Perhaps she was fresh out of shocks to her system. What else could today throw at her? Why not this, too? 

“Are you okay?”

What an odd question to ask her when her former fiance was a pile of meat beside him. She shook her head violently, not wanting to test his patience by not answering quickly enough.

“Keith doesn’t want me to kill you.” He let out a puff of air through his nose, “Sam hurt you too?”

She nodded. Should she call the cops? Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Her phone was in the car. Not-Keith was between her and the door. Fuck. 

“Do you talk?”

He wasn’t hostile yet, maybe she could get out of this if she played her cards right. Talk her way out of this horror show. Bambi nodded, eyes flicking momentarily to her feet. The blood puddle was encroaching on her space again. She’d always suspected the floor in this code violation of an apartment building wasn’t level, what a way to have that confirmed. She turned her gaze back to him. “Who are you?”

He tilted his head like he was surprised she wasn’t running screaming out the door. To be honest, so was she. She might’ve had a chance to escape back when he was busy with Sam and she was genuinely baffled that the shoe had been her first instinct instead. “Tenebris. I’m a part of him.” 

Sure. Normal. Tenebris sat down across from her. Very normal. Just two people and a puddle of blood. Having a conversation. 

Bambi opened her mouth but a knock sounded at the door before she could say anything. Both of them straightened, making startled eye contact.

“Is everything okay? I thought I heard yelling.” Bambi recognized the voice of Sam’s neighbor, two doors down. She’d met him once. What was his name? Luke? Lake? Lance?

Tenebris was looking at her, his eyes narrowed slightly: this was a test. Her mouth was still open so she snapped it shut with an audible clack. The motion caused a tear to streak down her cheek. 

“Sam? You in there?” 

She tried to read what Tenebris wanted her to do in his face. He gave her a small nod; great, he wanted her to cover. She took a deep breath and held it for a moment, steadying herself. “We’re good, man. Thanks for checking up. I sat on the remote and it blasted the volume.” She clenched her hands into fists on the floor, distantly aware that they were now wet.

Panic was beginning to set in. The fear of being caught, the fear of Tenebris sitting across from her, the distress of sitting in the blood of the woman whose name was next to hers on a pile of wedding invitations in her living room. She was shaking badly, every muscle in her body taut as though bracing for some sort of impact. 

Tenebris didn’t look impressed with her improv, but he wasn’t turning her into a human smoothie so she suspected she’d done well enough. 

Luke or Lake or Lance scoffed on the other side of the door, “well don’t fucking do that again, I have a night shift tonight.” Neither of them moved until they heard his footfalls disappear down the hall and his apartment door open and shut. 

When the coast was clear, Tenebris rose and offered a hand to Bambi. She took it without thinking, but cringed when her brain finally caught up. He pulled her up easily and she tried not to slip back onto her ass in her haste to pull away again. 

“What’s your name?”

“Bambi.” 

“Like the deer?” 

She tried not to let the instinctive disdain for the question show on her face. “Just like the deer.” 

He nodded, making an expression like he was proud to have correctly made the connection. “Do you know where she keeps the cleaning supplies?” A nod. “Show me.” 

Bambi led the way, wet sock slapping against the vinyl flooring, to the half bath that contained the cleaning closet. Everything was where she’d left it last time she’d cleaned. Sam had always hated cleaning but Bambi found it relaxing and would stop by to vacuum, mop, and do her laundry for her quite frequently. Most of the things inside had been purchased by Bambi herself. Tenebris filled his arms with supplies and indicated for Bambi to do the same. 

“We’ve gotta make sure this place is spotless before dark so we don’t have to come back after we get rid of the body.” 

He strode out of the bathroom after dropping that bombshell and she watched his back disappear around the corner towards the kitchen. Bambi nearly dropped the bleach on her foot. Fucking we?

From the other room, Tenebris barked a laugh, “Is this your shoe? Did you throw that at me?” His tone seemed a touch too casual for the situation, if you asked her.

Bambi laughed back, though there was no humor in it. Her brain had finally caught up to what was going on and she felt the weight of everything that had and would happen fall onto her shoulders. Their lives were about to become very tightly intertwined.

Genesis unable to keep a straight face during his giggle fit, constantly cracking up regardless of whether or not the "funny incident" happened forty minutes ago. You ignored the rest of the buzzing and put your phone in your pocket before venturing out of the apartment and going downstairs to the front desk. For the most part, you hadn’t really left your apartment – partly out of fear of running into Hyunjin, and partly because you didn’t have a reason to now that you didn’t have a job. Your friends had stopped by here and there – usually Jisung – to hang out but other than that, you didn’t really have much human interaction since the conversation in the hallway with your now ex-boss and Hyunjin.

You felt a little awkward as you stood in the elevator, thinking about how you had to ask about your eviction but you needed the information sooner rather than later so you could plan accordingly. You just didn’t want to feel judged. Everyone who worked at The Brooke knew you weren’t paying your own rent, so they would know you had gotten fired. It was embarrassing, but you needed the information.

As soon as the elevator doors opened to the lobby, your eyes widened and your heart jumped in your throat. You genuinely considered mashing the button to close the doors even though you knew that wouldn’t have been fast enough to stop the man waiting for the elevator from entering.

But to your surprise, he didn’t enter. Instead, he smiled softly and said, “Oh! Just who I was looking for.”

Your eyebrows furrowed, “Huh?”

Changbin reached out and held onto the side of the doors to keep them from closing again, chuckling, “Are you getting out or are you just going for a ride?”

You felt your cheeks get warm as you slid out of the elevator, trying to stay as far away from his body as possible. But you stayed near him once you left because apparently he was looking for you and not his best friend.

Why the fuck would Hyunjin’s best friend want to talk to you? Didn’t he know what Hyunjin did? Wouldn’t he know you’d want nothing to do with anything Hyunjin related?

“I know this is probably really strange to you,” Changbin began, stuffing his hands back into his pockets like they were while he was waiting for the elevator, “but I was wondering if maybe we could talk? I’ll buy you a coffee or whatever you want.”

As always, your inability to say no to people cursed you again. So you found yourself at a boujee café, sitting across from Changbin at a small table as you played with the straw in your iced drink to stare at the way the ice moved instead of making eye contact with Changbin. It was already awkward considering he was one of Hyunjin’s best friends, but on top of that, you’d never been alone with Changbin before. You were feeling all sorts of uncomfortable.

“I know you’re probably really confused. I mean, Hyunjin’s best friend asked to take you out to talk,” he chuckled. “I know you’re probably assuming I want to, like, yell at you or convince you to talk to him or whatever, right? …In all honesty, I really just wanted to hear your side of things.”

You glanced up at him, your movements with your straw stopping, “He didn’t tell you what happened?”

“No, he did. But you and I both know that sometimes he’s dramatic. That’s not to say his feelings aren’t valid, but I have a feeling that maybe there was some sort of…miscommunication for lack of a better word.”

You still weren’t buying it, furrowing your eyebrows. It didn’t matter how genuine and kind Changbin seemed when he spoke to you. 

“You’re his best friend, though. You’ll take his side.”

“Being his best friend doesn’t mean I have to blindly take his side. Like I said, Hyunjin can be dramatic sometimes, and he’s rarely dated since starting in that business. Something he never got to learn is how badly proper communication is needed in relationships when working in that industry because then shit like this happens. Plus, Kitty and I have both met you and I feel like the chances that you were using him for good sex are pretty slim. Again, not trying to invalidate how he feels. He is really upset, but I know you are, too. I just want to get to the bottom of this.”

“And do what?” you asked. “What happens when you have both sides?”

He shrugged, “That’s up to you, I guess. I could either help you fix things, or I could get you closure. Or I could just fuck off and you never have to hear from any of us again. Up to you. But really, what do you have to lose in venting to me?”

“You could tell Hyunjin everything I say.”

He chuckled, “That’s kind of the plan. He needs some perspective. He’s too upset to think straight.”

There were two ways you figured he could go about telling Hyunjin: either talk shit about you and what you said with Hyunjin and Kit later and act like you were full of bullshit, or just tell him the gist of what you’d said from your view and maybe make him feel bad. Or the latter, but it wouldn’t change anything Hyunjin thought because he was heartless and used you.

No matter how you spun it, there wasn’t much to lose. For the former: Hyunjin already hated you. For the middle: you wanted him to feel like shit and know that he hurt you. For the latter: it didn’t matter anyway.

Your toxic trait of hoping Hyunjin would feel like shit knowing how he made you feel won, so you ultimately broke.

You started with him showing up at the house to bring you lunch, which Changbin was already aware of. But that was all he told you, and then he let you keep talking. You said how he suddenly wanted to take things slow out of nowhere, saying all these things that just seemed like he didn’t want the relationship to go anywhere. He liked how things were, but all things were, were just physically intimate. Sure, he acted like a boyfriend but he apparently didn’t want the title. It made it seem like he wanted to try and fuck you but without any of the strings. It made it seem like you were just someone for him to corrupt because he was into that, but when you wanted more than just learning new things in the bedroom, he wanted to put the brakes on. It was suspicious, and even Changbin agreed it came off that way.

Then you mentioned how Jisung had blurted the whole porn star thing. You had no idea until Jisung was face-to-face with Hyunjin and recognized him, and he just said it without realizing you had no idea. You were confused as to who Jin was and didn’t know until, again, Jisung accidentally elaborated. Come to find out all your friends knew and wanted to keep it a secret because not only did they think it was up to Hyunjin to tell you, but they didn’t want to tell you and potentially put a strain on a relationship that you were already so happy about.

“Sounds like your friends need to start telling Jisung things more,” Changbin chuckled, but that was really all he had to say about that.

Then Hyunjin dumped you out of nowhere. You kind of saw it coming considering he said he wanted to take things slow, and that gave you a bad feeling anyway. But he did it without any explanation. Everything was vague and, again, made it seem like he was using you. Saying he wasn’t the right guy for you and didn’t want to string you along anymore.

Changbin just sighed and nodded, looking down at his drink, “Yeah, he kind sucks with words sometimes…”

You told him how you stayed with Chan for a while. You called out of work and went back to your old place to avoid being alone and also any chance of seeing Hyunjin. You definitely weren’t doing great considering this was your first major relationship even if there was no title to it, but you experienced the most serious firsts with Hyunjin, so naturally, you were taking things hard. Changbin seemed to get that. 

There wasn’t much to talk about other than you sulking over him even though you felt like you shouldn’t because he used you – Changbin had yet to confirm or deny that theory, though. He mostly just listened and gave minimal input – none of it having to do with Hyunjin. 

Then you got to Friday night where Hyunjin accused you of knowing he was a porn star the whole time and just using him to lose your virginity in the most perfect way possible.

“I know I said what I said, and I think he heard it,” you explained, “but I was honestly just trying to say something to stop crying about the situation.”

You gave a sad laugh and shook your head, looking around the coffee shop to avoid looking in Changbin’s eyes for too long. It wasn’t like he was studying you or scrutinizing you. He was just watching with soft eyes, letting you know he was listening as he nodded or hummed occasionally. But it was still too much to consistently look at him when you spoke.

“It was mostly just a coping mechanism more than anything. It was all just a joke, but he obviously didn’t hear it in that context. So he knocked on the door and called me out, but I was too drunk and taken off-guard to even remember what was said before he showed up. I wouldn’t have even considered that he would’ve heard the conversation. So because I didn’t have an explanation, it definitely seemed like I meant what I said and just didn’t want to own up to it. So…he…called me…-”

“I know what he called you,” Changbin cut you off, seeing you were uncomfortable repeating the insult. “You don’t have to repeat it.”

“Yeah…” you nodded awkwardly before taking in a deep breath. “Anyway, he said that and left. And then a couple days later, one of my bosses – er, ex-bosses – showed up.”

Changbin seemed surprised that you said ‘ex-boss’ but he didn’t say anything and let you continue talking.

You told him about the conversation with Mrs. Park and how you originally wanted to get an apartment on a different floor, but how she had started talking poorly about sex workers and you didn’t stand for it. 

“So you stood up for him?” he asked.

You shrugged, “I guess. Just because he was shitty to me doesn’t mean I’d use him being an ex-porn star as ammo. I’m low enough to let Minho say he has a small dick if he wants to but I’m not gonna say he’s subhuman or something.”

Changbin also seemed surprised by this, but again, stayed silent. Only nodded slowly and let you continue.

You told him how Hyunjin was listening in again and told you not to quit because of him, but you were saying it wasn’t because of him and it was because of your own morals. You explained how you didn’t want to work directly under someone so close-minded, and you reminded Hyunjin you weren’t dating anyway so it didn’t matter.

“And…yeah,” you breathed. “That’s basically it.”

Changbin nodded silently for a moment longer before he finally broke out into a chuckle, shaking his head, “Jesus Christ, this all makes so much more sense now.”

“What does that mean?” you wondered.

“It means…” he hesitated for a second, choosing his words as he looked down at his drink before meeting your eyes again, “I’m hoping you’ll talk to him. I’m not going to persuade you to or anything, but I’ll say that if you’re interested in attempting to fix things with him, I’d be willing to set something up. And you don’t have to answer right now or even today. Just let me know whenever.”

Part of you still wanted Hyunjin. You wanted him to want you and you wanted to still think he was the perfect person that you had thought before he said he wanted to take things slow out of nowhere. But the other part of you hated him because you knew he wasn’t perfect. You felt used and betrayed, and you were still hurt. Part of you still didn’t want to see him at all.

But since you didn’t have to give him an answer either way yet, you just nodded and said, “Okay.”

Changbin walked back with you to The Brooke. Not only because he wanted to be a gentleman and make sure you got home safe, he told you, but also because Felix apparently had brownies waiting for him.

“I promised Kit and Hyun I’d pick ‘em up,” he explained.

So he went back inside with you, going up to the front desk. You still needed your eviction information, after all.

Felix seemed to be working the desk while Jihoon was standing off toward the side at one of the computers, teaching Hanni something. Ten stood off to the left gathering someone’s luggage onto a cart, but the person was nowhere to be seen. They had probably already gone up to their room. So it was you, Changbin, Ten, Felix, Jihoon, and Hanni in the lobby together.

Felix seemed confused watching you and Changbin approach the desk together, “Is everything–?”

“I’m here for the brownies,” Changbin quickly cut him off. “Kitty had another shoot today so she’s really looking forward to them.”

Felix reached under the desk and pulled out a clear tupperware, placing them on the counter and sliding them over to Changbin with a smile, “Hope she’s feeling alright after.”

“These’ll fix her right up,” Changbin promised with a smile of his own.

As Changbin took the brownies, Felix turned to you and asked in a quiet voice, “How’ve you been doing, by the way? You feeling alright?”

“You found out he’s a sex demon, huh?” Ten grinned evilly from the corner before you could even answer Felix.

You just stared at him, “Huh?”

Changbin rolled his eyes and muttered to you, “Just ignore him. We all try to.”

You looked back to Felix and took a deep breath, placing your arms across each other on the counter, “Actually, I wanted to ask if you had my eviction notice?”

Felix’s eyes went wide, “Your what?”

“I kinda quit my job, and they were paying for the apartment and everything, and I can’t really afford to stay here, so… Yeah, that kinda means eviction, and I need to know when I have to be out by so I can pack. I didn’t really want to pack and then live out of boxes for however long, y’know?”

Suddenly, Felix’s demeanor shifted. He licked his lips and shifted his weight, eyes glancing toward Changbin and then down at the counter, “Um, I don’t think I know anything about that… Yeah, nobody told me anything about an eviction, so…yeah.”

Your eyes narrowed, “Why do I feel like you do know about it?”

Obviously hearing the conversation, Jihoon stepped away from Hanni’s side to come over and help, “_____, you’re in 805, correct?”

“Yup,” you nodded.

“Your payment was switched over.”

Your eyes widened and your brows furrowed. Payment switched? How? When? Why?

“To who?” you asked. “Who the hell is affording that? I swear to god, if this was Christopher…”

“They did actually ask to stay anonymous,” Jihoon informed you. “I can’t confirm or deny who it was. I’m sorry. But it does mean that there will be no eviction notice.”

“I know you think that’s good news, but I’m actually more stressed now,” you admitted with a slightly annoyed laugh. “Please, can’t you tell me who it is? I mean, it’s my apartment. I deserve to know who’s paying my rent. It’s actually kind of uncomfortable living somewhere where someone else is paying for it and I don’t even know who it is.”

“Since there hasn’t really been any sort of situation like this before, there’s no policy in place stating we have to give you that information,” he explained as politely as he could. “I know it’s probably confusing for you, but–”

“I found it!”

All eyes went to Hanni from where she stood at the computer, proudly smiling, “The bill goes to Mr. Hwang Hyunjin in room 806!”

Felix slapped his forehead, Jihoon let out a groan as he dropped his head, and Ten started giggling wildly in the back. Clearly, she wasn’t listening while Jihoon was explaining that there was no policy in place that they had to tell you, but you were kind of glad the new girl wasn’t paying attention.

“You weren’t supposed to tell her,” Jihoon sighed, clearly trying to keep some sort of patience with Hanni.

Her face quickly fell, realizing her mistake, “I just wanted to prove I could use the computer…”

You couldn’t even focus on her getting punished for her mistake, though.

“What?” you asked sharply.

Felix looked to Changbin for help, but Changbin was lost.

You glared between the pair, “Did you know about this?”

Changbin held his hands up in surrender, “I’m just finding out about it. I’m just as shocked as you are, honestly.”

Felix, however, looked away as the tips of his ears turned red, “M-maybe I kinda knew… But in my defense, I just work here.”

You took in a deep breath and held it for a few seconds, trying to calm down. After you let it out through your nose, you looked to Felix and asked, “Can I have a pen and some paper?”

Felix quickly grabbed a pen from the desk and searched for a pad of lined paper. When he found it, he handed both to you, and the two boys watched as you quickly scribbled down something. Then you tore the paper away, folded it up, and handed it to Changbin.

“Can you give this to him,” you asked.

“Will do,” he promised, taking it from you and keeping it in his hand.

Without another word, you stormed away from the front desk and over to the elevators, leaving Changbin and Felix to look at each other. While Felix looked scared, Changbin seemed relatively neutral. Felix was worried that the relationship had no shot at being fixed, while Changbin had already accepted that whatever happened, happened.

Felix eyed the note, “Are you gonna look at it?”

“Nope,” he replied. “I’m just gonna give it to him and see what happens.”

tanaka’s first words to kiyoko were literally: “hi im tanaka ryuunosuke you’re very beautiful i think i am in love with you”

and all she could do was blink before yn was hitting him upside the head and dragging him away with a bunch of apologies directed at kiyoko

from that day on tanaka would not stop talking about kiyoko

he brought her up at least once a day

and at first everyone thought it was just a really intense crush

but tanaka kept insisting it genuinely was love at first sight

when yn and kiyoko started hanging out she didn’t tell tanaka

it’s not like she lied to him or anything

he just didn’t ask ok

tanaka was so betrayed though when he found out

“why didn’t you tell me you’re hanging out with my future wife?”

“because you say freak things like that”

whenever kiyoko did show up around him he was trying his best to act completely normal and not nervous at all

which consisted of him clenching his fists and sweating and repeating over and over in his head “be normal be normal be normal be normal”

and then kiyoko would be like “hey what’s wrong with your friend”

“he’s an idiot”

kiyoko did not think much of him at first except the occasional “that sweaty guy is staring at me”

she was sort of confused as to why he was always so nervous bc she didn’t really think he had anything to he nervous of

she did think it was sort of endearing though

not that she ever said it out loud

yn and kiyoko got closer and yachi got closer to them too and then even nishinoya started to get used to kiyoko and was more chill

and then when kiyoko started helping out with the band it actually sort of became an issues

because he would get so nervous around her that he literally forgot how to play the drums

then one day at before one for their earlier shows tanaka was showing signs of being crazy nervous and kiyoko said to him “don’t be nervous. you’re a great drummer”

and that just changed everything

because she thinks that of him?? she thinks he’s a great drummer???

he’s not about to disappoint

tanaka might’ve gone too hard that day he broke three drum sticks

so it was worth it

tanaka would always go out of his way to try and impress her

and tanaka was way too in love to notice but kiyoko started smiling more that the things he would say

and would listen more intently

and start to ask him follow up questions

yn and yachi knew immediately when she started having a crush on him

they both thought it was very cute

and would lightly tease kiyoko abt it

but ultimately told her tanaka would be a great boyfriend and would be very sweet to her

like he already is

kiyoko knew she would have to be the one to confess because tanaka never would

he would just continue to be completely obvious about his feelings

but would never actually do anything about it

but still she was nervous

even though she was sure she wouldn’t be rejected

she chickened out the first three times she planned to confess

and on the fourth time

it actually turned out yachi and yn had had enough

and what do you do once you’ve had enough

why you lock your friends in a storage closet until they confess their feelings !

in a weird way, being in the small dark space made it a bit easier for her to admit her feelings

so she did

and then it took about ten minutes to convince tanaka that he was not dreaming

once he did bro was on cloud nine

for him the honeymoon phase has never ended

he’s so in love with her and every day he wakes up he feels lucky to be with her

and kiyoko loves him more and more every day

they’re gross together

so sweet to each other that it makes everyone else roll their eyes

tanaka got kiyoko a hoodie that says “i prefer the drummer” and she wears it to bed almost every night

honestly i think my fic is probably not the right place to like. properly explore this because it's a time slip au so like. charles knows what His max is like and they've still grown up together etc but his big dilemma is trying to marry that together in his head with older max. because charles knows like. pre-world champion borderline mad max era max and then when he's confronted with a more mature older max it's difficult for him to reconcile......like i've been doing research for the winner's room au and in 2019 seb and lewis were still publicly saying that they race max differently to others because he's fucking crazy so LMFAO

but also charles in 2018 was still very much. a bit of a hater.....like i know for the past couple of years they've been all smiles and like oh we have a good relationship! in the past it was tense :))) but we're all good now! but in 2018 charles was very much like. i can't say we have a good relationship but I'm Not Here To Make Friends .... and max was literally silent abt it....so from the perspective of an age gap it's very much charles trying to be like. how the fuck is my older self in a relationship with MAX VERSTAPPEN and also why's he so soft and goofy and genuine and charming oh......dear.....what if he fucked me so i can get back to my original timestream.......

tbh it hurts me when people make a distinction between will with molly vs will with hannibal like "he's happy with molly but not his true self" and "he's his true self with hannibal but not happy". first the self is a concept second i think he's happy with both but in different ways, he'll always be conflicted because in his life with molly bc he misses hannibal and the ''dark side'' lmao and in his life with hannibal his morality will interfere. i think will was plenty happy with hannibal, in S1 there's so many moments where he's genuinely enjoying his company (really hannibal is the only one who makes him laugh and smile unless i missed smth) that wide smile when he sees him in dolce and he has many moments of fondness even in the dolarhyde era when he's supposed to cold and offputting to him. hannibal makes him happy what gets between them is the mind games and the betrayal and the oceans of blood crossed to be with each other. and they said will will be happy in s5 and i don't think they would seperate will and hannibal so that means a happy life is possible for him with hannibal. really i just don't like the idea life with hannibal is doomed and miserable. wdyt

wills whole character arc is going from “killing is the ugliest thing in the world” to “it’s beautiful” so when it comes to hannibal i agree with you to an extent. just like the self is a concept so is happiness. what will really has with hannibal is understanding. they can see and understand each other in a way that no one else can which is why they are so drawn towards each other. it why they love each other. and yes they do genuinely enjoy each others company, but of course we cannot forgot that they are not normal. they both do manipulative fucked up things to each other. so in a way i hesitate to use the word happy. at least not in the way we see it. i do think that will is not going to be at ease, to find that that peace that comes with feeling right in ur skin without hannibal. i think that any relationship they have post fall would still be filled with possessiveness and jealously, poking at each others limits, being manipulative etc bc that’s who they are. hannibal likes toying with will and he loves it when he plays back, and will has never seemed more at ease when he is doing the same sorts of things as hannibal. some might call this relationship doomed, but imo it’s the greatest love story of all time.

i have a different opinion of sorts about molly. hannibal points out that he has found “a ready made family to fit his needs.” if his life with molly was making him happy in any sort of way it was entirely selfish and only went so deep. he was returning to what he thought he should be. he even says when he describes it, “i like my life there.” he doesn’t say “i love molly” or anything of the sort. did he like his life in wolf trap with his dogs before hannibal came along? sure, but i don’t think any of us would argue and say that he was happy, content, at peace with himself and his place in the world. and i don’t think that hannibal and will’s relationship works if will was genuinely “happy” with molly. he wouldn’t have gone back to him so quickly if he had so much to lose. i think he had found a way to exist that was bearable and what molly did for him was distract him from his own darkness and from the fact that he enjoys it. but denying your real self (as much as a concept as it is) is only going to allow you to be “happy” for so long.

in short, the general understanding of happiness doesn’t apply to hannibal and will bc they are freaks who will be most happy tormenting each other ❤️

Overall, Faust honestly means the world to me. She's very dear to my heart and she looks so beautiful in all of her IDs and EGOs. She is like a wife to me.

Don: Cinq Don! She just looks so cute and joyous in both the arts. Don is another Sinner I just always think has good IDs. I also like her W Corp one, Middle's Little Sister, and her Lantern ID! I've been using Lantern Don in my most recent Mirror Dungeon run and I was surprised by how well it's working.

I know meeting people and forming connections is something the world as it stands is really not conducive to, certainly not for autistic people especially (saw a BBC article just today about an autistic person pushing 40 struggling to date anyone, which was Not Encouraging), I just do seem to be in a worse position than many despite all attempts and it's hard not to see Being Me as a significant factor, so to speak.

(Spoilers for the whole game under cut! This includes the epilogue + 2hats + achievements! I go full-on infodump!!)

Siffrin - I love angst and I love happy endings. I also love seeing a character slowly lose their sanity. Act 5?? when they SNAP?? I was SO excited the whole way through. REVELLING in it. I loved seeing his facial expressions and wording change with each loop (esp the friends -> family -> actors pipeline). I LOVE analysing that stuff!! also i correctly predicted where they came from and did a little dance when confirmed so yay! (for the record i headcanon the Country as in-game version of France or a region nearby, just bc of Mal du Pays' name - fun fact, that translates to 'homesickness'! (cries))

(edit: i now know that Vaugarde is France so uh. idk anymore lol)

(also i'm a sucker for sickfics and delirious characters bc it's so tender and sweet and that scene in act 5/6/whatever?? the way everyone was so concerned for them?? the way that Sif was so desperate to fight the King and break the loops that they willingly went through the whole House, fought every monster by themself, hallucinated his family being there for him to the point he doesn't even originally see the actual photo of himself and instead sees the first photo the family took in the mirror?? not even the ones he faked smiles for, but the one he was genuinely surprised and joyful in??? the fact they were malnourished and burning up when they fought the King and tried anyway to get through it and were still coherent enough to be terrified their family would die?????? how-)

Odile - I got the Sus achievement bc I love other characters figuring another one out, and she's really interesting. I loved her constantly guessing that sif might be a bit off too. Her background made me SO sad and her and Sif's heart-to-hearts in the hangout and the epilogue made me really emotional. And she's kinda hot uhh and her Paper α V helped a lot lol (haha pls help i am a humble lesbian)

also her just wanting to sleep and ignore everyone's chatter at ungodly hours is such a mood honestly. she did not sign up for this lmao

(again the fever stuff with Sif sold me on Dile, too. her checking in on him and monitoring his fever?? the way she was quite obviously incredibly concerned and wanting to make sure they're at least physically okay bc their family dynamic is so strong now?? it destroyed me. I love her sm you have no idea)

Loop - They made me genuinely bawl. I am SO upset I didn't get their boss fight (i didn't know how to unlock it and had no backup saves), but i'll replay ISAT once recovered from looping 71 times. Their BG sold me, otherwise I would have ranked them maybe at Mirabelle's place? I like to think that post-game Sif found them again and forced them to be adoptive siblings. Loop awkwardly being dragged around by Sif who's just happy they're not the only traumatised Sif to exist

Isabeau - Puns. Crushing. Smart jock, buff nerd. What's not to love?? The relationship with Sif was surprisingly gripping - I knew I'd be invested in the gayness dw, but i was worried that would be all there is to his character or that he'd constantly be made the butt of a joke in that regard. but he wasn't!! and the jokes were funny (I loved Odile just third-wheeling constantly)! and the confession was beautiful. I am so happy that he also didn't rush Siff into a relationship: 'yh dw u kinda just died a bunch i'm not in a hurry for u to make up ur mind lol'. also transmasc isa :D

I think also how in Act 5 Isa was the only one to prepare himself for Siff's increasing mania and depression + willing to challenge him back to stand up for himself and their family really sold me. Like, he's not the oblivious crush who's like 'omg siff's amazing haha nothing they ever do is wrong' like some media portrays crushing ppl. He's very aware Sif is an incredibly flawed person (as all ppl are, but esp him at that moment), but he's also very aware that something is causing them to act like this and knows that staying calm and not shouting back is best. He knows they're suffering, even if he doesn't know the extent right then, and wants to help him however he can.

Bonnie - They're adorable and hilarious. I felt so guilty when I tried to feed Sif plantain chips (after getting the trigger about them) and the pineapple bc they were so happy?? and then Sif reacted to it negatively (in one case dying) and I felt SO AWFUL. And when the King killed them I genuinely was in shock. Hand over mouth. I knew 'children in peril' was a tw but I thought they might just get hurt/be in danger; not that (not a personal trigger so was okay with it dw). But I loved that twist. I did not expect that and it was so gripping!!

aaaaand then the Snack Leader is superior regardless! Plus I correctly predicted that they were part of why Sif's blind in one eye and how (guessed he jumped in to save them from a sadness) so i was chuffed at that. I also loved how they were written really realistically for a child their age - most media seems to portray pre-teens (tho i see Bonnie more as a 10.5-11yo who says they are a preteen anyway) as obnoxious/idiotic/babyish, or write their dialogue as if they have never spoken to or been a child in their life.

Mirabelle - OKAY I KNOW I'LL GET PPL MAD ABT THIS I'M SORRY. SHE IS THE AROACE ICON AND I LOVE HER BELIEVE ME! I just didn't really feel as strongly abt her than the rest?? idk i mean maybe it's bc i'm atheist and don't really relate to the religious narrative as much (the guilt over being aroace being tied to the Change belief). I related to her a lot on the aspec front, just less on the other part? so maybe she's just not the character i can relate to as much. Still, I love her and will protect her with my life 🧡💛🤍🩵💙
