none of us are going back is the MCTNA zombie au that i have put very small amounts of progress into!!! I think I've figured out the basic plot now (which is good cause i was kind of just going off of vibes before), but that's about all I've got. I will, however, give you a snippet bc I love seonhwi with all my heart

One day, Hwi wakes up from a dream he doesn’t remember having, the sound of the wind breaking through the slats in the boarded-up windows in a thin, rasping wheeze.  Except for there is no wind. And no boards on the windows. And the sound is coming from below Hwi instead of somewhere beyond him.  He looks down and nearly shouts, because Seon-ho is under him and Hwi’s fingers are wrapped around his throat and Seon-ho’s face is turning purple as he struggles to pull in air.  Hwi manages to unclench his fingers, though it takes a moment, and it’s much harder than it should probably be. He slumps off of Seon-ho, who rolls to the side and coughs gratingly. Hwi lies on his back and stares at his hands, his trembling fingers. He looks over to the side and sees the rifle and Seon-ho’s knife nowhere near, still sheathed and uncocked. Like Seon-ho had never even thought of using them to defend himself.

(And as for gay Lazarus!! this is a project I started in my 2022 Artist-in-Residence program; after I performed it the first time I've taken a break, but I really want to go back to developing it a little more and hopefully turning it into a full album, but I've got a lot of work to do to get there lmao)

Etho's behavior in session 5 was frankly unhinged. he killed Bdubs' horse IN FRONT OF HIM and managed to get away scot-free in the chaos of the situation. AND THEN he stole the chicken farm hopper while HALF THE TEAM was in their base without them noticing, tried to trade it BACK to them, and finally returned it after GAINING THEIR ALLIANCE? what even. good for him.

the most difficult thing about growing as a person socially, as in getting out of your shell and noticing that you are, is that there will still be times when it doesn’t feel like you’ve grown at all! times when you can’t really connect with anyone around you, times when you fail to enter into an existing conversation, times when you say the wrong thing (or nothing at all when in hindsight you probably should’ve). but that’s also kind of the best thing, because that’s the thing that helps you realize that sometimes, it’s not you or your lack of skills or any shortcoming. sometimes certain environments just aren’t for you and certain people aren’t your people, and that’s okay. that’s human. it’s okay to not feel the progress you have made all the time.

i don't think that people really understand how mentally fucking draining it is to live with chronic illness. like, people talk about it a lot, sure. but i feel like it is constantly kind of a shrugged off thing that people don't understand the weight off.

how exhausting it is to have your body not be able to do things, while your brain carries on as if it can.

how exhausting and painful it is to try to do things and not fully be accommodated for your needs.

how exhausting goddamn brain fog is. it gets me every day it feels like and i'm still surprised.

how exhausting and frustrating it is to be ill and to think you're having a good day, but SURPRISE, here's a flare, or a bunch of symptoms, or whatever, and now you're in pain and can't do anything. you can't make the pain stop. you just have to feel it.

how exhausting it is to know that nothing will take the pain away. that you literally just have to live with it. and that people won't get it. they won't understand that you are constantly in pain, all the time, and just have to act like you aren't.

how exhausting it is to be exhausted. the fatigue is awful. it just catches me and i can't do anything. i can't move or speak or anything. i just have to exist in it.

it's so annoying and exhausting to see my body give up and to know that i can't really do anything to stop it or cure it. it's so exhausting. it makes me want to cry constantly. i feel so tired and worn down and angry and depressed.

and yet, i have to continue on, like a normal functioning member of society. i have people look at me like an imposition. i see people talk down on chronically ill or disabled people online all the time and complain about us ruining society or taking away resources or whatever the fuck bullshit.

and it makes me feel so shitty that society perceives my only worth as my physical ability to contribute to a fucked up system.

and yet, we carry on, day after day, in hopes it will get better.

Regulus, who, yes, has friends, but they're all online. He lives in England, but Barty, oh, he lives in Italy. Evan and Pandora live in France. Dorcas? Who knows where she is right now, her family's always moving around.

Regulus, who has no friends in person. Regulus, who has nobody to lean on.

His parents don't love him, and he can never be sure how Sirius feels about him. He's just his annoying little sister anyway. Usually he just gets ignored.

Regulus, who tries to hang out with his brother and his friends. Peter, who will occasionally indulge him, and Remus, who's kind to him. James, who he used to have a crush on when he was little, as he made his older brother, the most important person to him, the person he idolised, happy. But Sirus always pushes him off.

Sirius, who once screamed "I hate you" at Regulus for the most mundane thing, and Regulus, who's not been able to push the memory out of his mind for years.

Regulus, who has no friends. Sirius, who's had the same group of friends since he met them.

Sirius, who has plenty of friends, plenty of people who love him. Regulus, who has nothing of the like. You can never tell tone through texts anyway. Online friends are much different than in person ones.

Sirius, who's turning 18 soon, who will be graduating and moving out. Regulus, who's terrified to be left alone. Regulus, who knows Sirius doesn't care enough to deal with the younger sibling who just wants someone to love them.

Regulus, who will miss his brother, and Sirius, who will only ever see him as his annoying younger sister.
