a 2024 reading retrospective

so. i read a lot of fics in 2024. here are some of my favorites.

before i get started, please note that these are not in any particular order and these are not all of my favorites!!!!!!!! i wanted to include so many more but i just wasn't able to! also please don't roast me for reading stuff from more than two years ago :(((

anyway, here we go!!

1. Air by Cantare

as always, @cantareincminor knocks it out of the park. i'm a sucker for alternate first meeting AUs and Air is one of the good ones!! i find that it can be hard to find authentic sounding banter between yor and twilight, but cantare manages it somehow! they have such great and natural sounding dialogue. it's just a one chapter fic, but maybe if we ask nicely enough, cantare will continue one day 😏

2. like the wild geese by anonymous_viscacha

okay in all honesty, i read this for the first time last week and i scrambled to add this one to the list. it's a short one shot about a shared lunch break between yor and loid, but it's so sweet and endearing that i just had to put it on. i love love love it when people let loid and yor catch up on the childhood they lost because they deserve it. i'm kinda obsessed with this fic right now.

3. what happens outside by aerequets

it's kinda unfair that @aerequets gets to be a great artist and author but here we are. i'm not complaining tho because what happens outside is a delightful read. i enjoy exploring post reveal pre relationship twiyor and this fic is perfect for that!! it's also just really cute and reading things from yor's perspective is super endearing.

4. chaos theory by sarsaparillia

so ngl this one scared me at first because i do NOT like major character death fics and this one really seems like it, but this fic was unexpectedly wholesome and has a happy ending!!! it's short but bittersweet so i can't really talk about it without spoiling it any more. go read it! it's short!

5. eventually i fall into you, you attack my heart by princessguard

i know this is a controversial (and somewhat ironic) take but i usually really don't like eden AUs but. this fic is proof that there are always exceptions to the rule. this one is a short little story about a serious student at eden and the weird girl he keeps meeting in trees. i don't know exactly why i love this one so much but it do. it's cute and the epilogue got me grinning like a fool.

6. like real people do by Puolain

once again another alternative meeting AU. i dunno, man, it's just so much fun to see twilight and yor having the chance to be real people and accidentally fall in love which each other. i eat that up every time. great work @loveroma!

7. I'll Be There in a Minute, Dear by fluffmelange

i was SO CLOSE to putting fluffmelange's "Leave No Trace of Yourself" here because that one is SO FUNNY but alas, this delightful fic barely won out in the end. you know what you should do? read both. fluffmelange is keeping us all fed with short and sweet fics that are so much fun to read. this one is a favorite simply because the premise is so goofy and simple but i could 100% see it being canon lol. we are in your capable hands @fluffmelange.

8. I've Been Throwing Bricks At Your Window Like There's No Better Way To Say Hello by thesmallestfishinthesea

this fic has such a silly and simply premise but i love it so so so much. it's about the three times yor forgets her keys (plus one extra time loid forgets!!!!) and it's so cute to have a view inside yor's (often frazzled) mind. i don't know what else to say other than READ IT RIGHT NOW!!! great work @smallest-fish-inthesea!

this is not all!! i really wanted to include the wonderful works of @whateversawesome, @briefhottubcoffee, @spencer-is-alive, luinel, and more (ao3 literally went out just as i was typing this UGH what awful timing) but i wanted to do something to give back to this awesome community. fun fact, today is my birthday and there's a tradition in my family where the birthday person gives presents to others. so this is my present to everyone!! thanks for everything you guys and here's to another great year!

because gosh did it do things to my brain when noelle said 'then kris, maybe you can take your sword and be the hero that protects me from the mice?' like... hmmmm noelle?? HMM???? i say as i fuck up the puzzle and scare her endlessly with mice anyway but--

gosh i love that yeah, kris as a knight as opposed to baggy clothes gremlin must've been so confusing for noelle! also they just naturally know all these aura farming ass poses, are agile as hell, and things that make them *look cool*?! i love that kris is still shorter than her though shdjsdhjs

i also wholly subscribe to the idea that kris is trying to protect noelle by distancing themself from her (or something) so it is Doing Things to my Brain to consider what noelle must've been thinking to see them as a knight

axwgdhecqcshf i can imagine that noelle has never really thought of kris as being very “cool”… MAYBE when they were playing the piano she would think so? but “cool” probably isnt the right word (maybe earnest instead) and its definitely not the same as how they appear in the DW lol… suddenly bro is swordfighting and whatever else and noelle is just ?!?!?!?!??! (hand over mouth) Why are they kinda… i didnt know they could…

IT MAKES ME GIGGLE even though normal route kriselle is much more lowkey i think its a cool tidbit… who knows maybe seeing that different side of them will awaken something in her………. but in reality theyll always be a little penguin

also — i laugh when i see people draw kris taller than noelle tbh… this is proof that we fundamentally view the characters differently. sorry. kris always must be significantly shorter sorry

also yeah i definitely think that out of all people kris wants to protect by Keeping Them Out Of It it’s probably noelle. susie is way different, because not only is she super strong in character and blatantly disobeys Us all the time, but at this point shes kind of irreversibly deeply intertwined with whatever the hell is happening story-wise. i said it somewhere in a twitter thread but if kris is going to want anyone to understand their position, it’d probably be susie. conversely, kris is driven away from noelle for all sorts of reasons, one of which is probably guilt over Various Things (them possibly having something to do with dess’s disappearance, or the fact that theyre Working For Dess Now or something, or just general low self esteem and feeling as though they’d be weighing her down by staying in her life). they miss her but they feel like they dont have the right to, so they keep pushing themself away and clinging onto susie as a result (this isnt discrediting the krusie friendship or anything but rather one of many reasons that kris seems so attached to her)

cold silent knight there to protect noelle… little did kris know that this protection would lead them into getting closer to her again.. PLAN BACKFIRE epic fail loser!!!! i think about how before kris cut her off in the couch scene, noelle was probably going to say that kris said they would protect her (since she reiterates it later) and i just go Oughhhh. Aauuuugghhhh. if i could redo my little comic interpretation of the porch scene id add that in there because i Forgot

reminds me of this doodle i did (for angel/demon au) where kris’s silent protectiveness gets completely trashed as they are the one forced to hurt her……. forced to hurt the friend you promised to protect… you TOLD her youd protect her…. she is harmed and then as punishment you feel as though you must harm yourself. hey does anyone else see that 18-wheeler coming down this lane or is it just m

With Arisu being a gamer, I'd like to think that he has played danganronpa before.

So, idk if I'll make this into a fully fledged au but I might doodle some more and see where it takes me. But here's what I have for this already.

Arisu is the protag, because it wouldn't make sense otherwise. He gets to be the ult gamer unless I can think of something better. Though I think a Naegi situation would be fun but instead of Arisu becoming the ultimate hope, he becomes the ultimate hearts player, or something. He's pretty damn good at navigating the trials, but usually is his own worst enemy due to overthinking or blaming himself. Uses his known knowledge of the games to help him reason as well. Probably had some half petrified half awestruck response to monokuma.

In this au, this danganronpa game would replace the canon 10 of hearts. I know that would make this kinda predictable, but I mainly wouldn't want to kill off characters that have major roles with the face card games. For everyone being an ultimate, they could be injected with something at the start that the game says "strengthens their ultimate". Which, of course is not possible but, danganronpa logic. It can placebo effect some people though. That'd be interesting to use in a trial.

Usagi would be the ult climber and Arisu's support. But in the emotional area, such as talking him down. Pulling him out of his mind when Arisu inevitably blames himself for every person that dies. He will. She also will probably be a suspect at some point and Arisu nearly breaks down because he thinks it's Usagi. Ofc it's not her but, he gets to spiral first.

Chishiya is the little shit antag. He starts as the ult ??? of the game and it gets revealed later that he's the ult doctor. Mainly because he doesn't want people to know about him and the profiles dont show the ults ig. But ofc he uses it to scheme and mess with the other players. He's probably pretty good at investigating and will likely figure out who the blackened is before everyone else. He's not going to tell people shit though. Maybe something offhand to Kuina that triggers an argument in the trial. He immediately notices how Arisu is leading the trials and finds it interesting which is the main reason Chishiya even kinda helps in the trials at all. Other than not wanting to die with the group if they get it wrong ofc. Chishiya lacks the charisma that Arisu has to convince the entire room if he speaks up regardless so, if he can get Arisu to the same conclusion he's at, the trial will progress. That, and according to Chishiya, everyone else there is an idiot. He doesn't want to talk to them anyway. He also just, sits down during the trials. He runs with his hands in his pockets, he's not going to stand for a full trial.

Niragi would be the ult video game engineer and this of course, confuses the hell out of everyone. He's still aggressive as hell, he's still Niragi after all. But that means he's also smart. So he knows better to go against the rules. I'd like to think he's the one to try to break monokuma at the start and gets injured from it. He's a diamonds player, but maintaining his dangerous personality would make for him to be an interesting secondary antagonist.

Kuina would be either the ult martial artist or ult stylist. Or she can be assigned the first but say she's the stylist in her heart (bless). Probably heavily debates killing someone if a motive pertains to hurting her mom but either doesn't succeed or gets talked out of it. Likely similar to Aoi or Akane survivor status.

As for other characters, I'd likely add Tatta, Momoka, Asahi, Hatter, Last Boss, Aguni, and Ann. Otherwise I don't have too much an idea on who to slap in to fill out the rest of the cast cuz uh, not that many more characters from the beach that I can slap in here. Plus anyone bonus would be obvious cannon fodder, I already have too many survivors, and I don't really want to put in ocs. I'm already going to have to likely pull some bs someone survives an execution type of beat so. Maybe it's just a shorter killing game. I could have the clear condition be "find the in game mastermind" and have it have a similar solution to the show. If the blackened is successful they could just, let them out of the game grounds but you wouldn't get any visa days or something. So, in reality, it wouldn't help any of them, but of course that isnt stated and none of them know that.

So, your hybrid!AU. This kind of turned into something fleshed out, so consider it a gift in your trying time. Expand upon if you wish.

Everyone knows that Johnny hates dogs. He's relentlessly teased about it due to his cat nature, and Gaz is always quick to point out that "I'm not some wimp, ya know. I love a big dog."

Then Simon finds a stray dog on base. It's not a mutt, the breed clearly some kind of Carin Terrier mix, small enough that people hardly notice it. But when rabbit carrion starts popping up around base, people notice the dog.

Simon knows better than to bring it up to the team. So he slips away during the rare solo lunches, feeds the dog whatever protein was in the canteen that day.

It doesn't take long for Johnny to follow him one day, to see the small dog pressed up against Simon's leg, and have his hair standing on end. He approaches slowly, a hand on the hilt of his knife, waiting for the dog to attack. But the Terrier barely spares him a glance, and Johnny manages to make it all the way to the crate opposite of where Ghost is sitting.

"What are ye doin' with that... thing?"

"I's called a dog, Johnny. Been killing the rabbits 'round base, stinkin' tha place up with carrion. Figured feeding the damn thing was the betta' option."

It becomes routine. Simon feeds the dog, aptly named Half'a because of his stupid "half a dog" joke, and Johnny watches from a safe distance. Eventually, Johnny inches closer, and closer, until he's sitting on the ground next to Simon, still wary of the "devil creature" sitting on Simon's left.

I don't think Johnny would ever actually make it up to petting the dog, but he does allow the animal to sniff him. He nearly cries (he did, Simon wiped the tears away) but he can admit that maybe the creature's not all that bad.

I'm not even being dramatic, I literally freak out whenever y'all speak about it. It's like "damn. Strangers have thoughts about something I made. I made something that, not only do people like, it also gets creative juices flowing." I see so many hybrid au's, it's nice to know mine is still out there and growing.

Okay, silly furry war criminals

There is exactly one (1) dog he likes. He's a hybrid they paired up with for a mission and Soap *didn't* immediately hate him. That's it. That's the only dog he feels comfortable around.

So imagine his displeasure when *his* Ghost comes around, not smelling like bird and dirt (his normal scent(not in an omegaverse way, he just smells like that)), but smelling like dog. Soap literally hissed and hid in a cabinet, Roach kicked him out because that's *his* cabinet and Soap isn't allowed in.

So yeah, he follows Ghost around for the next week, trying to figure out why his husband smells like his worst fear.

I think Soap likes to hide behind Ghost's wings, watching Half from behind a nice, safe feather shield. Occasionally he'll sit next to Ghost, usually he'll just stand.

He eventually lets Half into his room, not exactly happy about it but it was pouring and the poor thing was soaked. He didn't cuddle or pet, he just *watched* as the dog curled up on one of his shirts and took a nap until it stopped raining.

It's a shaky relationship, but not a bad one. More like "you're a stinky little dog but my husband likes you and you're actually kinda cute so I guess you're alright."

Okay the end! I didn't add much, but like, I think the ask was more than enough? Anyways, I love Half and he's mine now. Fight me.

Hello hello I just binged through the activity detected au again and I’m having Thoughts about the ritual

So Xelqua is an ancient god right? So I’m kinda assuming that the ritual involves some kinda physical component and not just ✨say the magic words✨, say for example carving runes into the floor/walls

Obviously Grian can’t do that at home his family would find out, so he goes to some old abandoned house/building and does it there so no one can find the remnants and connect it back to him. (Potentially this building is part of his old school if you want to add to the panic of the surprise investigation)

Eventually people find it anyways bc people are nosy, so the PT crew end up doing an investigation there anyways, and whether or not grian goes with (I’d imagine not bc I’m assuming the ritual was not a Fun Time and he does not have good memories there) he has Big feelings about his friends being there, especially Jimmy given how much effort he’s put into keeping Jimmy out of his whole mess. Maybe xelqua feels his turmoil and steps in through some dreams or smt.

(This might not be even close to the direction you were wanting to go with it, but my brain is running in circles around your au it’s so good, thank you for creating it)

I haven’t put much thought about the ritual itself besides it requiring blood and burning some of his hair. But I like the idea a lot that he’d have to do a whole lot more, which would require a whole new environment

Hm, I could see him having gone to some old abandoned cabin or barn in the forest to complete the ritual. I could see this ritual being rather bothersome, needing a lot of blood in particular as Xelqua is a war god

Maybe Grian needed to use some animal’s blood that he himself killed to draw symbols and a summoning circle on the floor and walls. He’d then lit a fire in the middle of the summoning circle, said the chant out loud, burnt his cut off hair and cut his palm with the same knife he killed the animal with, letting the blood drip into the fire

( Also about the ritual, or more specifically about Grian becoming Xelqua’s avatar. I could see him be sort of “branded” with Xelqua’s symbol appearing somewhere on his skin like a tattoo )

And yes, I love the idea that PT on one of their usual tours would check out this one particular barn/cabin on accident. Grian would come along, not knowing where they were going, given how it has been like 10 years, he most likely has forgotten the exact location of where he did the ritual. And then he’d get the biggest fucking jumpscare going into the building and seeing the remnants of his old ritual

The rest of the group would be freaked out, they haven’t seen a building with this many symbols and obvious signs of a ritual before. And Grian would just freeze and try to act nonchalant while the symbol on his skin burnt him from the proximity to where the ritual was done. The cameras and equipment would go absolutely crazy as well, more than usual

I already finished some of them, and im working on the remaining one's. Most of the Undertale au's has the same thing keep repeating and not having anything much interesting. And mostly people just make oc's to put them into ships or smth. Or just completely focuses on making sanses. I do give attention to my sanses too ye and im guilty about that but i do care about other monsters too. Mostly people don't even give any proper hints about the personality of the other monsters, which is kinda annoying. Like, im not only here for Sans and Papyrus dang give me some Grillby give me some Mettaton too 🙏🙏🙏 Hopefully, my au's and multiverse is gonna be smth pretty new and interesting (i hope). I really appreciate the attention and support since it keeps me motivated. I really do the giggling and feet kicking when i get a notification saying that someone liked my art or commented anything. Twst mlp AU | thoughts behind the designs

I made Leona an earth pony with a thicker build. Hes a square with sharp angles! Hes one of the first drawings I made for this ‘series’ so its a bit lackluster, but I wanted him to be nice and hairy. I gave him a more lion-like tail, and some jewelry from his culture. His ears are nicked and he has long, slightly tangled hair. He also has a lot of hair around his neck becuase he’s a lion! I gave him a color scheme vaguely resembling a lion as well. Also nice and hairy legs, i love to draw those on horses. His cutie mark is three claw marks over clouds of dust. There are multiple different meanings to this cutie mark.

Vil covers up his cutie mark for personal reasons, but its a spotlight shining behidn some curtains. I tried to give him a more ‘feminine’ look while also keeping sharper angles. I love his color scheme, and i made him a unicorn because I thought it fit perfectly. I considered making him an earth pony to really show how he works hard for everything and doesn’t take shortcuts, but in the end unicorn won. I might change it later though! I had to give him some elegant white spots too, because aesthetically it just clicked in my head. He has a purple bow and has his unique hair accessory in his bun. I gave him longer eyelashes, and instead of making his hair a blonde-purple gradient I made some locks purple.

Jamil!!! He’s one of my favorite designs. I know the obvious choice seems to make him a unicorn, but HEAR ME OUT ON PEGASUS JAMIL! It adds a lot of symbolism and extra layers I think, it’s very tragic. Plus, he looks pretty with wings. I gave him darker and greyer colors to portray his darker and jaded nature, and it’s a nice contrast to Kalim’s design. I tried to vaguely design him off of Arabian horses but it didn’t come through very well. Did you know that MLP has a race of horses called ‘Saddle Arabians’? I didnt and i think its absolutely hilarious. Jamil is also supposed to have bags attached to the thing around his waist, but I’m too lazy to draw them.. His cutie mark is an eye with the world as its pupil, and a snake curling behind it. I put a lot of thought into his cutie mark and I’m really happy with what I came up with! To me it has 4 different meanings! I kinda want to redraw Jamil because he looks so small compared to the others!

Kalim is a unicorn for even more delicious angst. His whole family is unicorns. He’d much rather be a pegasus, but at least he has the magic carpet! Jamil thinks it’s bullshit that Kalim can use magic AND can fly. I made Kalim’s colors more vibrant and yellow and lively. He wears lots of jewlery, has tattoos and is my favorite design of these four! He also took me the longest. His cutiemark is a sun or a coin with gems on it, and it has wings. This too has multiple meanings. I think in the Scalding Sands culture the snake jewelry was something the sorcerer of the sands, an alicorn, wore around his horn. Maybe the original was a magical artifact? Well, Kalim, and other people from the scalding sands, wear fakes to honor the sorcerer. Anyways, I made Kalim slightly hairier then Jamil to show how he’s softer and wilder.

thinking about the parallel life heathers au and i've rewatched the original movie twice in the last few days so i wanted to yap about all of my reasonings in one post for my ideas for who would be who when i first brought it up to robin!!

ghost/jason dean - it honestly just MAKES SENSE i fear. ghost and his constant murder spree after he turned red??? jd and the immediate "oh yeah lets kill these guys" after the first death (chandler) in heathers??? same person right there. but what really sealed the deal on this was when ghost mentioned that if it was him and tibby in the end he was gonna blow himself up. sound familiar? yeah.

tibby/veronica sawyer - partner in crime!! whisps as the two main characters is fire duhh!! the main point i was gonna make here ended up getting put in e's section of this post instead oops but either way it just makes sense with ghost as jd :3 i can go into more depth on this sometime in the future... (i paused and came back to write tibby's bullet point last and yapped too much to where i forgot my points for this one. oops...)

charlie/martha dunnstock - in the musical, martha is veronica's best friend - this isn't so much represented in the movie, but i wanted to include it anyway. while tibby and charlie didnt talk much until the last two episodes, they were still soulbound. its kind of like how veronica rarely spoke to martha after being indoctrinated into the heathers' group.

e/heather chandler - ngl. im so biased on making e chandler. or at least i was when i started this... then it started actually making so much sense! someone correct me if im wrong, but i remember someone mentioning tibby wanting to be the one to take e out of the series in parallel life, which in this case it matches up pretty well, what with veronica and jd killing heather c via drain cleaning fluid. but also, e is just a bad bitch in general like??? they have that aura y'know?? LIKE PERIOD. okay but seriously like what with e taking in crow after ghost killed her the second time in ep 3, and crow basically becoming e's, for lack of better words, lackey (via lovebombing oh god the toxic yuri gulp) it just makes sense. and honestly?? lifeboat from the musical?? it REALLY gives off crow vibes in ep 3 when she's still trying to be with ghostfoam, and then again when ghost tells her she's part of the deal with e in ep 4. like?? "if i say the wrong thing or i wear the wrong outfit, they'll throw me right over the side" (lifeboat) honestly feels like it fits SO WELL with how ghost treated her like she was expendable?? like in ep 4 he says things along the lines of being able to kill crow at any moment SO MANY TIMES

mar/heather duke - i already went into a lot more detail on mar being duke in this ask, but my basis for it is from how ghost treated them the whole season. being neglected for someone else the whole time (chandler absolutely neglecting duke in the movie AND musical, even heavier in the movie) and then when given the chance trying to act like someone else to be above things and be liked. another thing i wanna add that i didnt say in the original ask about mar is when e basically took mar in for just a bit for the "broken hearts club" after picking up tibby and crow off the side of the road (post-whisp "breakup") which basically adds on to that heathers trio being a trio yknow??

Ajwiaap daycare AU, Branzy the daycare's caretaker and owner with questionable moral lessons to teach the children and the Clown the new security guard and/or assistant with an interesting ethic and more questionable history

the random government worker obviously catches up to the weirdness but through Shenanigans, branzy always manages to send them away.

im still figuring out what would drive branzy to become a daycare owner… likely to shape the youth with questionable morals… or maybe he has long-standing beef with one of the parents and decides to fuck with them by turning their kid into a little freak but through that scheme he realises that kids can be kinda fun.

I've been obsessed with Relativity Falls au for some reason lately so of course I've been turning around my own version in my head lately. And with Fiddleford I keep flip flopping on who I would switch him because there are many good options. Like

Fiddleford <> Pacifica:

This seems to be the most popular option, I've seen many old woman Pacifica designs, but I personally cannot see McGucket be the snotty rich kid that Pacifica was at the start. I CAN see how he could be rich (Tate McGucket probably invented something and got a lot of money for it) but CAN'T see him be anyway snotty about it. I think the best way to make Fiddleford fit this role is through a series of misunderstandings. He is trying SO HARD to be nice to these twin brothers who are spending their summer in Gravity Falls and he just keeps messing up. He tries to make a robot to help them out but it end up turning evil and they assume that it was ment to sabotage them from the start. He tries to have a nice conversation with them but because he's rich he's just out touch enough to come off rude and show offy. FIDDS IS TRYING TO BE NICE FROM THE START!

Fiddleford <> Candy

It is easily the second most popular option here. There really isn't much to say with this one it's probably the one that makes the most sense. I can easily see Candy going to Backupsmore and telling Dipper/Mabel about the weird things shes seen in Gravity Falls. The idea that Stanley and Fidds became friends first before Ford and Fidds is interesting. My main grip with it is that if we're going with the version where Dipper is swapped with Ford, it implies that Mable and Candy never really became friends in this universe, which I find really sad. Honestly I think that the main reason this swap exists in that context is because of that one episode were they go on a road trip and Candy got crush on Dipper mixed with fact that many people ship FiddleAuthor.

Fiddleford <> Soos

Hear me out, hear me OUT! I've seen a few versions where even when Soos' Grandma is swapped with Soos, they also add Fidds as a handyman at the Shack anyways. But why not go the whole way, ya'know? Soos was a friend that Dipper met and shared a dorm with in Backupsmore. Soos was still older than Dipper. Soos and Melody were already married with a kid on the way, and Soos was also Gravity Falls' local handyman. He decided to get college and get like a mechanical engineering degree or maybe a trade in something there because even in the small town of Gravity Falls technology was only getting more and more complicated and Soos wanted to be able to keep up so he can keep making money for his family by fixing things. During their time at Backupsmore, Soos would tell Dipper about some of the crazy things he's seen living in Gravity Falls, and that inspires Dipper to go study it after college. And then the rest of that rolls out predictably. I can easily (and sadly) see Soos becoming the local kook. I imagine that it will also be much sadder for the locals to see Soos acting up because many of them have memories of him coming to fix their microwaves and stuff. And as for Fidds, he's the Mystery Shack's handyman. You can make him around the same age as the Stan twins, we know that in cannon that Soos started working there around that age, so he doesn't have to be Soos' cannon age. I think this works best with Dipper and Ford switching places because in cannon Dipper and Soos were friends, so it kinda easily transfers, ya'know. I've put a lot in this one.

So, Aly is a real life human (kinda me hehehehehh) who probally messed with the files trying to make an undertale mod or something like I do with fnf, and got in the fricking game (< idk if I'll keep that but whatever it's not important) and the code remplaced frisk by her (that's why I tag her aly!frisk sometimes heheh)

So she had fun in UT (even tho she couldn't go back but she didn't have really things to do in the irl world anyways probally), but yeh she got bored and wondered if aus really existed, so she again messed with the files (don't ask me how the hell did she go in the files without a computer, maybe she can cuz she was doing that before getting in)

When she's got friends she's comfortable with, she'll always be here for them, and try to make them not be uncomfortable since she know what it is, but at the same time will like to be a bit annoying at tease them but not too much.

She can't stop thinking, and can easily forget things, for examples, you can just ask her to do something, see her go, then she'd be thinking abt something else for 5 minutes, and then come back and ask what what the task again. Actually, adhd, zhdjhdd. (There's alot of chance I have adhd :3)

Mihawk and Crocodile trying to flirt and failing miserably because Buggy is always oblivious to what they do is amazing and no matter the AU it's always like this. I adore. They just want their vampire boyfriend to bite them :(( Failguys.

The last thing you said is so real. Vampires can be something so romantic and I think usually books/TV shows/Media in general don't focus on the important stuff. I want to see teen!Shuggy with Buggy and Shanks traveling together right after the crew disbands (before Roger's death) and Buggy not having access to other types of blood. So Shanks offers him his blood and they have like-- This moment of realization of how intimate it is. And Buggy will forever remember what it felt like to feel Shanks' embrace while sucking his blood without any complaints. And!! Both Mihawk and Crocodile wanting to do the same but it's definitely just for the horny, they don't expect it to be so passionate and intimate, and romantic.

"frankie, i still dont think this is the way to solve things" he says to her as they get in line to go into frankies favorite bar.

frankie didn't like hugs. she felt so awkward with them but in that moment she wanted nothing but to sob into her older brothers arms like she once did when the other girls at school were making fun of her because she played hockey and didn't do dance or cheer like the rest of them. she needed her family.

"cmon Luke" she said opening her arm out to her brother who stood of to the side. Luke accepting because he could never stay mad at his little sister.

"just dont ever do this again. if you want attention go find yourself a lover or something" Luke said laughing as they pulled away.

"hey! none of that" jack said not thinking anyone was ever going to be good enough for his sister.

"dont worry jack, I need a break from boys" she said with a sigh as she remembered what happened with ryan about ten minutes ago.

"dont talk to us about your boy problems thats why you have Quinn" jack said gagging.

"quinn also wants you to call him" jack said as he started walking to her guest bedroom.

"you good?" Luke said as he started settling into her couch and noticed her sister looked as if her mind was far else where.

so when I decided on who to have Lanolin with in terms of relationship, I wanted to have a sort of theme with her. someone who understands where she's coming from as a civilian thrust into a crazy world of supernatural heroes and madman scientists.

who better than another civilian like her?

all of them represent Lanolin in different ways in the lanocule (shoutouts to @bowserbowser29)

Clove the Pronghorn

anyone who follows me knows that this is my coined pair. I've already written three different fics of these two and almost went insane because of it

I just love Clove

also, they're essentially two different sides of the same coin. both fight for the protection of others but on two different sides of the spectrum

that was when I only had decided on one person. but then I figured "why not?" i mean, there's literally an au with 15 people in a polycule, i can certainly try my hand at something somewhat similar

Barry the Quokka

someone who hasn't experienced what it's like to be surrounded by people like Sonic and co. yet

who still maintains the illusion of grandeur from heroes. but someone still optimistic if anxious and doubtful of themself

but still similar in pouring themselves into work, just trying to get by and live. tiring

Sonar the Fennec

if you've read the archie reboot, you'd know Sonar as one of the Desert Raiders (Shamar Freedom Fighters), a trio trying to do good while also helping Nephthys the Vulture maintain a neutral balance with Eggman and the heroes (he doesn't get an advantage while also not having to send in more badniks and risk innocents being hurt/killed)

however, with the way I'll write her and maybe taking in context clues from her screentime (panel time?), she is disillusioned and holds no high regard for her heroes. at least, not looking up to them anyway

when Lanolin and her meet, she'll actually be envious and kinda jealous of Sonar and the Desert Raiders for how well they work together and trust each other in comparison to how weak the Diamond Cutters were in comparison

but that's enough about her for now, let's move on

Gala the Hound

one of the only named idw background characters. she has nothing going on for her. so why did I add her?

well,

I saw this and my mind ran with it. so. I mean, she fits with the theme so,,

ahem. anyway, a nobody caught in the crossfire too many times to the point where she got a wispon? it tracks

also she's adorable

and lastly,

Jian the Tiger

she doesn't have much in terms of backstory either but she's cool as hell and I get to come up with one for her so it's fine

probably the third least tragic of this bunch (1st being Barry, 2nd being Gala), which isn't saying much, but still

after the war (forces, this au), she dedicated herself to learning martial arts, hoping to never be caught off guard again. after the metal virus, she laments that she failed to do anything—protect anyone or even herself.

after the whole fiasco, Conquering Storm offers her to join her clan with the claim of helping her become stronger. she accepts, out of false hope, not knowing just what was in store for her

anyways. that's it! it's gonna be a hella long while for them to get together but it'll happen. somehow

i dont have all the characters but i do a big dump about nami and usopp !

nami and nojiko are androids, specifically companions. bellemere raised them as daughters from the moment she got them. having 8 years with each other, of course they become a real family !!! bellemere planned on saving up to get them their adult bodies at some point

when arlong comes along, it wouldve been so easy for them to fly under the radar because of how “sentient” androids were almost unheard of. arlong wouldn’t have known any better if they’d all played along. bellemere, however, refused to let her girls be reduced to just robots. they’re her daughters, she raised them, and that will never change. look at how they’re crying, how they’re even screaming—what could be more human than that ? those are her daughters and theyre alive !!

arlong decides nami could be of use to him and gifts her (forces her to use) her adult body. he even goes the extra mile to burn his symbol on their beforehand. nami loathes it; she was supposed to get it from bellemere and no one else. they didnt even bother to get nojiko hers, just nami’s. sometimes she just wants rip her arm off. it’s not like it’d kill her anyway

the entire time shes going around gathering money for cocoyashi, she’s fighting her own programming. being a companion, it’s in her nature to want to have someone to stick with and help, but she forces herself to take care of nothing but her own needs. she never stays around someone long enough to be assigned to them. that is, until she meets the straw hats

theres something about them that makes her want to slow down, to lower her guard. maybe it’s the way none of the humans care that she isnt like them, or that the captain himself is an android like her, a companion like her, but she wants to care for them, wants to see them happy, and that’s what tells her she needs to leave. she doesn’t think androids can assign themselves to another android, even though the captain and the long nose one seem close, but she flees before she can find out

(and that’s another thing i forgot to add in the first post !!! ace and luffy sort of assigned the other to themselves; they see each other as another human companion that needs their help and protection. they’re the crazy ones for that because thats like. insane to do. it takes force)

and just like canon, luffy chases her down and kicks arlong’s ass, no matter how many times his body nearly gets ripped apart

usopp is technically a builder, but he was a bit altered when yasopp gave him to banchina before leaving. there wasn’t much to build on an island such as syrup, so his version of it became taking care of banchina. if the only building he could do was build her happiness, then that’s what he’d do

when banchina passes, it leaves him without a real purpose, since he was sorta made just for her. androids that have this happen to them are often treated as defective. he reverted back to building little things for himself since he was still made to build, he just has feelings now. meeting kaya, however, sorta kicks him bakc into that caretaker mindset and he does with her what he did with banchina.

ANYWAY this is getting long but meeting the straw hats is like one of thevery few times usopp has ever seen other androids. he doesnt really bond in the same way companion models do, but he can still get attached, and that’s what he does. he kinda has o idea how to fight but the kuro ordeal works out. setaxhing from his programming but not his purpose, usopp’s constantly offering to make or fix things for them.

bonus ! remember tht concept art of nami with a metal arm ? after nami shreds her shoulder in arlong park, she basically renders it useless, and usopp offers to make her an entirely new one, one that’s just her. that concept art metal arm is the arm she gets

(another small bit of info: i think i’ll keep most of the ofhers the same, but im not sure yet. i know i want zoro, sanji, and robin human. speaking of robin, she always felt more at ease around androids since they were never able to look at her and immediately think “devil child,” even if most of them lacked emotions and were just doing what they were made for. despite that, she can’t help but be shocked by luffy, even through a foreign sense of comfort and amusement.)

hiii new mutal!!! before i say anything i want to say that my au is heavily (excuse my poor english) inspired by pirate au that belongs to @enavstars and another jaya fisherman au that belongs to calypsolemon you shoudl totally check them out too!!

anyways, in my fisher man au jay is collage drop out who over took after his dad the family bussines after his dad had an accident while fishing and cant work anymore. he isnt happy but he needs to make living for his parents now. he everyday brings fish to a local old butcher wu who is considered wierd and unaprochable, but to jay he seems like a really sweet grandpa. the rumors say he used to teach fighting techniques back in his youth. Cole is a lumberjack (i think thats what its cald... its a throw back to an original show after seson 3 when the ninja team split) and jays bestfriend since high school!! zane is a weird sone fo a retired doctor julien who lives in the glass house, zane was home schooled (he is human in this au so is pixal) and is pretty socialy akward. jay knows him a little since he went to his dad for tuttoring when he was aplying for collages and cole has a slight crush on him but never got a currage to talk to him. lloyd is a student in a private school and comes to his uncles (wus) shop to do his home work before his dad can pick him up with his "friend" harumi, while kai and nya are sirens. every other role is minor like skylor is a chef of a resturant that buys from wu (they make so much sushi) and pixal is jays friend from collage that jay didnt cut off when he dropped out. morro is included but he is away probably studing or something... (lazy, havent tought about it yet) but back to lore!! jay was on his boat fishing late at night. He is scared since many fisherman went missing latly and the time of his dads accident doesnt add up.... they said the waves tipped of his boat and he had to get injured by some rocks... but the sea was calm that night- and his dad injury looked like somone took a bite out of his leg!! as he thinks sudently something hits his boat from the bottom! getting startled he tought its justa big fish... a big fish trying to tip over his boat. he think quickly and trows the net into the water and pulls... something catched! when he looked it was a brown haired siren (aka kai) biting the nett wiggling trying to free himself, in a panick he drops the nett with the siren. the siren beaks free and tries to sing but he hits it oar before waddling away the fastest he can. next day he told everything to cole who of course didnt belive him. but jay knew... that siren must be the reson fishermen are going missing! and probably the one who caused his dads accident taking a chomp out of his leg!! they talk as they walk to wus shop with what he menaged to catch before getting attacted by the creature while bickering. As they enter jays heart sinks... at the desk sits no other then the siren... with an ice pack pressed against their forehead. as jay looses his breath wu introduces kai as his friends son who will stay here for the summer working for wu. before jay can couse a scene the siren who also recognized jay goes to hide in the back. thats it for now... its kinda hate to love relationships, definitly a slow burn. i woudl meaby post it on AO3 but i like never written anything in my life :pp and i dont even know how to start. once again sorry for my bad grammar!! if you have any other qyestions the box is always open ^^
