Ashlo, known as the Bee God of Honeyed Reflections, the Architect of the Soul, the Ever-Attendant Queen, the Prince of All Suns, and the God of Rebirth, is an obscure and little-known national deity worshipped by the Apis peoples of Lower Craglorn. Traditional Apis belief holds that Ashlo creates the souls of all living beings by filling the honeycombs of the Golden Hive with soul honey, the basis of all life, and allowing them to grow to completion. After death, Ashlo ferries these souls back to the hive, where they will be reused for future generations. Perhaps indicative of their close contact with the Nedes, astrology and star-worship is central to Apis religion, with each star representing one cell in the Golden Hive, and each of the constellations being comprised of ancestral heroes whose souls were deemed holy enough to preserve from the cycle of rebirth so that they may watch over the living.

In at least one Iron Orc tribe there are written records of Ashlo being viewed as a minor spirit responsible for maintaining the structural integrity of religious institutions. In a less accepting example of cross-cultural exchange, the invading Ra Gada of the 1st Era associated Ashlo with Peryite, and considered them and their followers “a pestilence given form.”

The Ayleids had a scientific interest in Ashlo as a potential god of light and the dawn, but interacted little else with the Apis, and generally not in a religious capacity.

Experts connect Ashlo to Lorkhan as a creator deity, and even to the mysterious insect god of the famed Adabal-a, but no concrete evidence has swayed popular opinion either way.

Fic data from 2023

Happy new year! This was a big year for me because I got back into reading fanfiction, and boy howdy did I read a lot of it. Over the year I tracked what fics I read got that sweet, sweet data about how much of what I read and when. So now it's time for it to all come together! I put the major stats above the read more line, and below are some other little details about the tags and types of fics. Without further ado, let's get into it!

My goal this year was to read 1000 fics which I realized around June was NOT going to happen. I actually read about 651 fics including re-reads. Not too shabby!

The total words of all the fics I started was 5,196,016 and multiplying by the percent finished (could be >100 for re-reads, or <100 for dnf) I read about 6,214,399 words. So, HOLY BALLS 6.2 MILLION WORDS???? JFC. THATS LIKE 16K EVERY SINGLE DAY. ok i will never again tell myself i didn't read enough this year. Can you imagine if I had hit 1000 fics?

Something else fun about the word count is that the average length was about 1584 words/fic.

My top months by number of fics were February (108 fics), April (88 fics), and March (66 fics). In terms of word count, my top months were February (1.4 million words), January (1.16 million words) and August (804k words).

Before we get into tags, here's the graphs for the stuff I mentioned earlier. Keep in mind that the first two are about fics I started, not necessarily finished, so the count may vary a bit.

The top three longest fics I read were meet me where the light greets the dark at 115514 words, Subito Sempre at 107053 words, and This Game We Play at 101717 words. Those also happen to be some of my favorite fics of all time.

Here's a graph about the length of the fic I read. "Format of a oneshot" is something that may be multiple chapters but was short enough that it could've been one. Idk this database was built on vibes.

I know 54% of the authors! Speaking of, there were 208 distinct authors I read from this year. My top author was JynxedOracle at 33 fics!

VegasPete almost had it for a while but KimChay will always be my ride or die. Also, if you can't tell, I basically read almost exclusively KinnPorsche The Series fics. For my top fandom outside of KPTS, that would be MCU, and my top non-KP relationship was SpideyPool. My highest rarepair within KPTS will go to my grave or the groupchat. :*)

My highest read additional tag by a WIDE margin (I'm sorry mother) was porn without plot. (Guess that explains why the average words is so low).

Xandr a de beaux restes: des SSP (Supply-Side Platforms, autrefois appelés "Ad Exchanges"), dont son propre SSP encore utilisé par de nombreuses régies, notamment en France (Mediasquare, Prisma Media, Webedia, Figaro medias), mais qui vendent aussi sur d'autres plateformes, à Google et à des clients en direct. Mais la concurrence de la TV linéaire est toujours présente car son impact sur les consommateurs est immédiat, palpable, pour un CMO comme pour son CEO ou même son CFO qui a plus de chances de voir sa marque apparaître sur le petit écran comme des millions d'autres français.

Ce qui risque de changer la donne, c'est l'AI. Les nouveautés dans le domaine de l'intelligence artificielle ne manquent pas et "AI" ou "IA" deviennent des buzzwords mis à toutes les sauces, qu'on parle de recettes de cuisine, de téléphonie, d'éducation ou d'automobile. Mais ici, l'application IA qui nous intéresse est celle, comme Sora de OpenAI, qui sera en capacité de produire de petits films de 10, 15, 20 ou 30 secondes, à très peu de frais et donc accessible à la multitude des annonceurs "SMB" (Small & Medium Businesses).

Alors qu'actuellement les frais de création peuvent représenter jusqu'à 50% de la campagne, ils tomberont à quasi 0, laissant le reliquat de budget à la diffusion sur les plateformes video, des box TV aux TV connectées, des smartphones aux plateformes de streaming comme Netflix (disponible via Xandr justement) et Amazon Prime.

Pendidikan tersier

Seminggu terakhir di beberapa sosial media riuh soal tingginya UKT pasca SK Kemdikbud yang baru launching dan pernyataan staff Kemdikbud soal Perguruan Tinggi itu termasuk pendidikan tersier, bukan wajib 12 tahun SD-SMA.

Mari kita lihat datanya. Per 2017, hanya 9.35% lulusan Universitas (D3/D4/S1/S2/S3), 7 tahun kemudian, menjadi 10.15% di 2023.

See? Dalam 7 tahun, hanya naik 0.75% dari total penduduk. HANYA 0.75%, menuju Indonesia Emas 2045. Itu pun dengan sistem UKT yang belum naik 4-5x lipat seperti sekarang.

APBN pendidikan 20%, setara 665 T. Yang didapat Universitas? hanya 1,2% atau 8 T, dibagi ke 184 PTN, tergantung besar-kecil PTN tersebut.

Info nya juga, 50% dari 665 T angggaran pendidikan diberikan ke Dinas Pendidikan daerah. Padahal kalau Universitas dapat porsi 10% saja, itu sudah sangat membantu.

Tapi, the gov is not willing to improve it. Bukan prioritas :) tapi bikin patung api 335 M bisa, bikin rumah menteri 14 M x 36 menteri ada, tunjangan DPR seumur hidup ada, lucu memang.

Katanya 10 juta genZ tidak sekolah juga tidak bekerja, tanggapan orang pajak apa? "beresiko rendah penerimaan pajak", ya gak salah sih, kan orang pajak, memang kaum middle class hanya diharapkan untuk support negara, tapi negara is not willing to support them first. What do you expect? Golden era in 2045? :)

Writing Notes: Source Integration for Historical Writing

When writing for history courses, it is common to incorporate evidence from primary and secondary sources.

Writers integrate information from these sources into their writing in 3 ways:

Summaries

Writers typically summarize when the information from a source does not have to be provided in detail.

For example, a writer might want to summarize an author’s overall argument for the audience as opposed to explaining every line.

Summaries are particularly useful for describing key historical events or figures.

Writers can use descriptive facts, such as names, dates, and places, to create a summary that provides critical background information for the audience.

Example

In Kris Myers’ (2012, 198) essay, she traces the development of the Alice Paul Institute (API), also known as Paulsdale, a house museum that features historical lessons based on the life of women’s rights activist Alice Paul.

Paraphrases

Paraphrasing works best when writers can state information from a source in a more clear and concise manner without changing the original meaning of the words. Under most circumstances, readers expect to see paraphrased evidence in historical writing. Paraphrasing helps writers balance information from their sources with their own words and voice.

For example, if a writer wants to include an author’s idea to support their argument, but the original text spans an entire paragraph, the writer can paraphrase key details from the original paragraph into one or two sentences to capture the important aspects.

Example

Myers (2012, 198) states the API decided to use Alice Paul’s life as the foundation for a leadership program that teaches young girls skills to become leaders in their community.

Quotations

Quotations suit several purposes in writing.

The most common reasons writers use quotations are when the words serve as concrete evidence to back up a claim, come from an authoritative figure that adds credibility to their argument, are so compelling and original that there is no better way to express the idea, or communicate an idea in order to accurately dispute it.

For historical writing, quotations are used to reference primary and secondary sources as evidence to support an argument. However, writers should keep in mind that quotations from a primary source are often considered stronger forms of evidence than quotations from a secondary source.

Example

Despite the success of Paulsdale, Myers (2012, 207) notes that “[t]he API confronted constant claims that women’s history is not significant to American memory, or that women like Alice Paul represented a radical element” when advocating for the project.

Not exactly. I actually don't use the hacked Spotify app anymore. I prefer Spotube, a free open-source app that interfaces directly with the Spotify web API. It also let's you download songs and albums directly, which the hacked app didn't do!

Overall Spotube is more stable, trustworthy (because the code source is open and community-audited), and will never be at risk Spotify patching the hack or disabling your account for violating terms of service, because it uses 100% legal software.

(P.S. the first link leads to F-Droid, an alternative app store for free, community-driven, open-source apps. That's where you can also download NewPipe, my favorite ad-free youtube app.)
