Streamer AU! So they did memes and established dabbing as part of history, but now comes the Jojo references! This time is unintentional, but nevertheless referencing Jojo!
So, the Streamer is just wandering around Husky with their Pokémon, chatting to the stream and hanging out their Pokémon when they witnessed a mean guy, not really Volo, just a random bad person, kicking a poor sweet and innocent baby Pokemon. Obviously this should be a job for the Streamer’s angered and protective Pokemon tk step in, right? Well, you’re half-right; Streamer steps forward and allows their Pokémon to care for the poor kicked Pokémon…before proceeding to beat up the Pokémon abuser.
Stream watches as the Streamer is beating up the Pokémon abuser with ease, kicking him Abacchio-style and unleashing the Jojo kick meme onto the abuser until he’s begging for mercy. Some of the chat are worried that the Streamer might get arrested for assault even if in defense when they return home. Others? Happily cheering on the Streamer!
You were hardened on your days alone in the wild. You hd taken olenty hits, and knew how to give them.
So just beating up a guy JoJo style is icing on the cake.
Thankfully, given that you were in Hisui, and not modern Sinnoh, modern law does not technically apply to you, since modern law did not exist, and most laws in settlements typically require you to be on specific land and in said settlements i Imagine.
You have plenty of Lawyers at least typing that up as we speak, ready to go to your defense.
Though it would probably be funny if your account got banned for the violence, only for it to be lifted 4 hours later with a public apology from the streaming service.
Too many people in powerful positions were not gonna let that slide, even if you beat a man near to death like in JJBA
You’ll happily do more JoJo memes though since the chat seemed to enjoy most of it.
…So long as you hopefully don’t have to beat up anyone in the future.

hey ling, hope ur doing well and was wondering if i could ask some advice - totally ok if no but. im currently trying to screen record a cdrama right now so i can rewatch it later w/o paying, but i only recorded one episode and it's taken up all my icould and google drive storage 😭 i was wondering if u knew anything i could do, since i feel like r educated in the ways of 🏴‍☠️ 😭
screenrecording is the least efficient way of doing it i think :( ive never tried to do it for more than maybe a few minutes-long clips (most are around 30-40 seconds!), and doing it bloats your memory while also being worse quality. now the last thing may not be a huge deal (i personally dont mind if sth is 4k or 480/720p, esp since older films and dramas simply are harder to find in full hd), but storage efficiency is what you're here for so!!
delete things (files, programs, games, etc) you don't use (anymore), as that probably already opens up a ton of space. there are programs that can help you with looking up which files and shit you use/open the least.
when pirating, ofc use a trusted site and client but also check which files are the smallest and just get that one (unless youre a gifmaker or a real stickler for hd, 720p will suffice imo). tv series in my experience run about 20-30gb if theyre 1080, so even smaller if it's not as hd! google drive only gives 15gb but i think if you compress it into a zip file it miiiiiight fit? if not you can just split it between gdrive and your icloud :)!
an alternatuve option would be to find a streaming wrbsite that had the series but not paywalled, it's less work but the downside is that you can't access this offline (the main reason i like owning (digital) copies)
last but not least, and unfortunately this is the best way to have enough storage: invest in an external hard disk. if you're planning on having more tv series (and perhaps movies) on ur pc/laptop, the best and easiest way to make sure you (almost) never run out of storage is to just... buy more! i splurged on a 5tb external hard disk with bday-christmas money but obviously even having a 256gb/512gb one will be enough if you're not obsessed with putting entire filmographies on there like me djfngmv even getting a bunch of 32/64/128gb usb sticks will prob help out, and while it absolutely is an investment, if you're already paying for a subscription this is a surefire way to make sure you get your money's worth in case they take it off the platform or whatever (looking at how guardian got the boot from literally every streaming platform including yt 😭😭😭)
anyway i hope this helps!! :3

Blu-rays and Fanfic to come
Good Sunday afternoon! I've just finally came across online for the "Timeless Season 1 & 2" on Blu-ray, really hard to find in Canada. I already have Timeless on DVD and on apple, but on DVD the screencaps quality is bad, and you can't screencapture on Apple.
I will also screencaps "The Santa Clarita Diet" This week, it's still available on Netflix, so I'm just going to do it before Netflix take it down, just like they did for "Timeless" :'( At least here In Canada, Timeless isn't available on Netflix anymore. I also found on Amazon, Season 3 of Crossing Lines, never seen it before and it's a Region 2 blu ray, I don't know if it will work on my External bluray player, we shall see ;) I'm taking the chance, because quite frankly, it's kinda hard to find all those Goran Movies and TV Shows on Blu ray ahha! I have most of them from Amazon prime, but some of them aren't on the streamings platforms.
I also got my hands on Elektra, The girl with the dragon tattoo and the Deep end, all in Blurays! So stay tuned for more HD Screencaps in the weeks to come :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm also having in mind to post soon a Nicholae Schiller fanfic ;) Stay tuned for more and enjoy the rest of your week end :)

A few days ago I was turned onto “Tubi”, another online TV/Movie streaming service.  On the surface it’s nothing special, but it does cover a lot of territory that the other streaming services leave empty.
It’s fully ad supported, so there are no fees at all.  That does mean it comes with commercials, but at least it’s not commercials with an additional fee on top.  I’ve also heard (But cannot confirm) that the commercials are noticeably less frequent than other free-with-ads streaming services.
The bigger selling point is that it does not require an account for use, all of the content is directly available from its website without any login.  You can create an account if you want (View your history, set parental controls for children, etc.), but if you’re traveling or got a new computer you don’t need to worry about any login issues or concerns about sharing your account info.
Babylon 5 is how I first discovered the service, when I went looking for places to stream the series after it left HBO Max.
The rest of its library is absolutely fascinating.  It’s missing a lot of the bigger hit TV shows and movies, which isn’t surprising since so many studios and media conglomerates are setting up their own independent exclusive streaming services.  But what it does have is a lot of content that I can’t find streaming anywhere else.  Reboot from my childhood, the full series for Andromeda, and Tremors: The Series.  It has the original Generation 1 The Transformers cartoon, plus what looks like almost every subsequent series (Including Beast Wars).  Even the Strange Empire TV series that was my first introduction to Cara Gee.  There’s a lot of the deep-dive backlog that normally you need to find on websites of ill repute instead of a proper streaming service.
The biggest downside seems to be that they don’t stream in the higher HD specs.  The highest they go is 720p, and not every video is available in full 720 even if there have been HD releases elsewhere (Babylon 5 is only available in 576p, even though they are the remastered episodes that were released in 2021).  This isn’t a huge problem, I’ve long been a proponent of “good enough” home media distribution, but it is a drawback if you’re trying to find something in 1080 or 4K.  On the upside, the uploads have not been highly compressed for streaming, so the video quality is quite good despite the lower definition.
If you’re looking to save money by ditching cable/satellite TV or subscription streaming, this could be a big help.  Even if you don’t want to completely ditch the other services, this grants access to a lot of content you won’t find on the big name websites.

My Nintendo Direct 6/24 Results
Mario & Luigi: Brothership - I've dreamed of Mario and Luigi being presented like this with polygonal 3d and a dynamic camera since the GameCube era, so its great to see it finally come true. First game in the series since the first one in 2003 not to have some obvious gimmick in terms of how the Mario Brothers are controlled in and out of battle, VERY happy to see that.
Super Mario Party Jamboree - Mario Party Superstars in 2021 was the first Mario Party game I purchased since Mario Party 4, (not counting Mario Party Advance) and this looks like an excellent and fun game. I find the inclusion of two retro maps odd since there isn't a focus on old material like in SuperStars.
Dragon Quest 1 + 2 2D HD Remaster - I never played and DQ games before, and I've been interested in featuring DQ1's NES version on stream so as to explore the earliest era of home console RPGs, so I'm torn as to if I'll play the NES version, or this modern remake.
Stray - It may end up being the least impressive version of the game, but Stray's hyper dense gritty high tech city setting got my attention and I was praying for a Switch version. In any game I play town and city exploration is one of my favorite aspects when towns are featured, so I'll be excited to play this one.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - The idea of Zelda exploring Hyrule from a top down perspective hasn't been explored since the CDI game "Zelda's Adventure", so It's great to see Nintendo take a swing at the concept, and do so in a way that is true to the nature of Zelda's depiction as a wise protector of Hyrule, but not a soldier or fighter in the way Link is. It feels like the "echo" system is a developer tool from the development of Link's Awakening's Switch remake that the expanded into something that defines the actual gameplay experience when fleshed out into a game mechanic. As an aside, there was a small amount of backlash against Aonuma accusing him of being sexist for not having the option for a female hero in Breath of the Wild, which was absurd, and I'm glad this proves those people wrong.
Metroid Prime 4 - SEVEN YEARS after it was first announced, we finally have screenshots and gameplay of this title. The announcement of Prime 4 should go down in history as one of the most severely mishandled strategic moves Nintendo ever executed, but the game looks great. I have a copy of Prime Remaster for Switch I've yet to play on stream, we'll see if I get to it before Prime 4 comes out.
Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection - I think this is the first re-release of these titles since Disney purchased Marvel, and it's amazing to see this happen, as I genuinely doubted if it would be possible. I don't care about these games but I'm glad they're being made available.
Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition - I will totally buy this. I love high score attack runs of Vs. Pinball and I've had the NES Remix games on my list for years. Actual speedrunning and skill challenged condensed into curated mini-game like format is fun, and I'm certainly going to get my hands on this one
Donkey Kong Country Returns HD - Doesn't look graphically impressive even for Switch, but this was one I hoped would come over, and it still looks great. I hope the forced motion controls that made me fall off the Wii version have been revamped. But from my perspective, I haven't even played and covered the first DKC on my show yet, so I'm not likely picking this one up soon.
Only game I specifically hoped for that wasn't featured was the remake/remaster of Beyond Good and Evil, which got an ESRB rating late last year, but has yet to be officially announced for whatever reason.
10/10 show for me. If for the rest of my life I could only play games on Switch, I would never ever be bored, ever.
But I'd still rather play RCA Studio II than most modern stuff anyway.

I have no plans to see Oppenheimer. Here's why:
To begin with, the last film directed by Christopher Nolan that I saw was Dunkirk, and I enjoyed that in spite of two important things: the sound design, which was realistically noisy but got in the way of, y'know, intelligible dialogue; and Hans Zimmer's derivative, repetitive score (seriously it was just the chord progression from the "Nimrod" section of Elgar's Enigma Variations, over and over and over again. And both won Oscars! What the actual fuck?)
More to the point, though: this is not exactly an undertold story — quite the opposite, in fact. It has already had (at least) two dramatizations that can be described as essential. Here's some information about one of them.
This was a major departure for Masterpiece Theatre at that time. Sadly, it doesn't seem to be available for streaming anywhere.
The other one can be streamed at the link below, although it may be blocked outside the U.S.
It's a definitive performance of this work, which is by John Adams and Peter Sellars; through July 28th only, it can also be streamed free of charge and, as far as I know, from anywhere in the world, here:
And finally, here are some things that you really ought to know about the subject matter, and which I gather are more-or-less completely ignored in the film:

Thoughts on the State of Play reveal
Under a readmore just in case
1- I know I said I'd keep the Son*dow tag blocked for a bit after Prime ended but I think I'll keep it blocked till the end of the year now lmao
2- I know the rumor has been going around since yesterday but I took it with a grain of salt since it's. Yknow. A rumor. But even when I let myself think 'what if its real tho' this is SO FAR FROM WHAT I EXPECTED. A!!! I thought at most we'd get is a remaster that'd also make Shadow playable! As soon as I saw the new level I was like WAIT WHAT. WAIT WHAT!!?!? and it just kept going from there!!!
I'm so happy we'll be getting a HD biolizard fight! He'll no longer be contained to the 3DS! Also from what little we saw Shadow will get to have some dynamic posing in the boss fights, like Super Sonic did in Frontiers. Good! I loved those!
3- Ian Flynn has #KnowingSmile'd the announcement and I'm hoping this means he got to write for whatever new content there is.
And speaking of Frontiers! I'm hoping that this ends up being Shadow's 'Frontiers' moment. In that his writing and character get what Amy's, Tails', and Knuckles' did in Frontiers.
4-I had the stream off to the side in another tab since I wasn't interested in most of what was shown. And then I heard the first few notes of the Generations music and i immediately switched tabs and I just!!! Feel like I did in 2011 except my computer/internet is way better, and you tube is shittier!
5- I'm excited for this for such Me reasons. For those new here- I live in a country that had no Sonic stuff for...well, never, really. Not until about 2022. The second movie did what I'd hoped the first movie would do (but then the pandemic happened) and brought over Sonic stuff here. For the first time in my life I went to a toy store here and it had Sonic stuff. I got to buy physical Sonic comics for the first time. For the first time in my life I can go to a video game store and actually see Sonic games there. It's been wild
That being said, 2011 had Nothing. Sonic Generations came out. And I didn't want to pirate it because a friend of mine had worked on it. I was determined to find it. And I only saw it irl one time- for the Playstation. A console I've never had. It was pretty upsetting! I remember posting about it here even....I've been on tumblr too long SHDGSHDHS
Later I'd find that there was a 3DS version. I have that! So I looked for that version of it alongside the PC one
So, for almost a decade, I looked, to no avail. And for this whole time I refused to look at any playthroughs! Any knowledge I had on whats in the game came from the trailers we saw
And then in 2019 my best friend helped me buy the 3DS version. I had 9 dollars on my 3DS and whenever the game went on sale it'd be on for 10 dollars. So he gave me a dollar and helped me get it SHDGSHDH
So I finally experienced Generations! It was surprise after surprise in that one, because I knew it was different but I didn't know how. I didn't expect a Rush level in it, or for the Biolizard to be in there!
And then in late 2020 when I got my new computer and could finally get steam, another close friend got me Generations for the PC! I'd somehow managed to dodge spoilers on it all those years so all I knew about it was: Theres Green Hill, Chemical Plant, City Escape, and a Silver boss fight.
I got to play modern City Escape for myself- which is the level that inspired the current iteration of my main OC, Storm. It was a joy
All this rambling to say...it's wild to think that once this remaster comes out, I'll be able to get it day 1, at least I hope I will. Still-it won't take me almost a decade to get to it
And if there's a physical release? I'll be able to go to a store here- HERE, not in one of our neighboring countries, not from somewhere else, but in a store here. Right across the street. And I'll finally have a physical copy of Generations. That was my final goal with the game-- I love it, I have two versions of it! And the plan was always that even though I'd gotten to play them now, if I ever ran into a physical copy of the game, I'd buy it. And now I'll really get to do it
6- Bonus thought of me being silly: Wowow my OC was shown at the State of Play--

Heyy, happy Storyteller Saturday!! 💙
I would love to know a bit more about the magic in Joker of Ashes! What kinds of magic exist? Can everybody use it?
- @poetinprose
Thanks so much Jay!! 💖
So basically my magic system is called ethra and yupp it's common for people to have it. The people who can't are ethrically disabled and referred to as disthrens. There's actually a rare disorder called ethritism where people are born with no ethra at all.
In the world of JOA, ethra is an element discovered in 2015 (the books are set around 2150) and ever since then, it had diffused into people's bodies. After over a hundred years, people have now developed a new system in the body called the ethra system and it follows along the spine and circulatory system. It's a solid obsidian black in liquid form and iridescent in its pure gaseous state. It usually appears as an aura or membrane around a person's body and they can be different colours.
There are many ways to wield ethra but the six foundational pillars of it are: augmentation (enhancing something), manipulation (controlling something), effusion (extending one's ethra), injection (imbuing into sth with one's ethra), metamorphosis (transforming one's ethra into something else), and fabrication (creating an object out of ethra).
With those six basics, a person can mix and match and basically do anything with their ethra. However, how one is able to use their ethra depends on their knowledge, experience, and physical ability. For example, if one wants to have a mastery over air, they would need an in-depth understanding of gas molecules and extremely fine control over their ethra to be able to pull it off.
Which is hard as hell to do!! So impossible that it's basically unheard of. If someone wants to be able to do that, they'd pretty much be buff Einstein 😂
So when it comes to knowledge, you'd need a good understanding of what you're doing in order to, well, do it. And for physical ability, you need to train your body to be able to control your ethra well. This usually means strengthening your body and exercising your ethra to be able to control it finely.
What does this mean for experience though? Some may see it as an extension of knowledge, but it's actually a different concept entirely. For example, like I've mentioned in this post, after Minh got burnt alive, she began being able to conjure fire. Or something close to it, at least. It's like how when artists experiment with a particular material, they're able to understand how it works. After that experience, she now knows how fire feels like and involuntarily creates an ethra version of it (metamorphosis at work!) as a trauma response.
More importantly, the reason why I wanted to go with this magic system is that it basically works like a normal irl skill. If you want to be able to learn how to use it, you need to work at it (which is why there's also a booming industry of ethra hacks and how-to videos on JOA's future version of YouTube). 'Cause of that tho, how ethra is used largely comes down to choice (one of the book's running themes!) rather than genetics and natural talent.
What kind of ability one trains and/or develops will say a lot about them and their character ^w^

Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job #46: “Lucky” | April 5, 2010 - 12:30AM | S05E06
We start this one off with a Kids Break. This time the kids are fully gothed-out. Tim’s trouble is that his father lost his job and now he resorts to eating his boogers as a meal replacement. This is especially disgusting and off-putting, so much so that when I watched this episode in VLC I bolted out of my chair to turn it off when the episode looped and this played for a second time. There might be worse Kid Breaks, but there also might not be. Hard to say!
This one is one of my least favorite wraparounds: Tim has a “Musky Tusk” Necklace, which supposedly gives him good luck. You have to rub dead animals on it to activate it’s charms. They sorta dash this one off, being very disrespectful to their viewers. Hell, I got high for this one and not even that made me do smiles. They did get Ron Lynch to do a voice-over for a Musky Tusk pitch, which is the strongest part of the whole wraparound. I have a mild respect for them cutting to the closing credits early, but Space Ghost already did that, son. I hate how this one ends!
Okay, sketches now. A sketch about Pierre using “dream cream”, a topical ointment you apply to your torso so you can have wonderful dreams. Pierre dreams that he’s hanging out with a beautiful boy and his dad. They have a cookout, where Pierre is slightly flirty with both of them. He only vocalizes his attraction to the dad, though. In one fairly dicey scene, Pierre hand feeds the boy various meats, including a hot dog. He’s also really pleased with the internet situation while looking at “sites for dads”, murmuring “megabytes per second must be in the billions!” Pierre’s dream eventually turns out to be a nightmare after the cream gets into his mouth, which you’re not supposed to let happen.
This sketch actually wound up being a headache for Tim & Eric. The suggestively creepy things going on between Pierre and the boy in particular are a little squirmy. I always took the humor to simply be about Pierre being mindlessly inappropriate, and I don’t think the joke is supposed to be that he’s definitely a pedophile. He’s attracted to boys because it means a dad is nearby. That’s my take, anyway. But having a child present during a pseudo-sexual encounter is pretty eyebrow-raising.
This episode was actually briefly withdrawn from repeats because, I believe, the child actor’s parents weren’t pleased with the final sketch. I remember I actually attended an Adult Swim comic-con panel after this aired and somebody asked Tim & Eric why this episode hadn’t been rerun yet. Tim said it had something to do with being sloppy with paperwork, like they didn’t get a release signed properly or something. I vaguely recall Tim being asked about it on Office Hours and him saying something closer to what I’m alleging had happened.
My personal theory is that Tim & Eric were legally in the clear for the sketch, but just didn’t wanna upset the kid’s family and decided the moral thing to do would be to alter the sketch. So, they animated a disgusting-looking cartoon boy over the real kid to erase all traces of the child actor in the sketch. This is the version that is currently in circulation. It appeared on the DVD, and is streaming on Max. I managed to dig up a version originally sourced from Amazon, which apparently had the original cut available in HD for a brief moment. Thank piracy that it still exists.
This came back to haunt them in recent years. Pedo-panic got ramped up with shit like QAnon, and a lot of it was bogus and was wielded as a political tool. Sam Hyde’s fans in particular went after Tim & Eric, pointing towards stuff like this, and Steve Mahanahan’s child clown outlet sketches in particular. I was a fairly regular viewer of Tim Heidecker’s Office Hours, and I actually remember people calling in and trying to put Tim’s feet to the fire about this sketch. At one point one of them accused Tim of molesting his young neighbor; the kid who stabbed him while on drugs during the Tom Goes to the Mayor days. Tim actually hosted a special evening edition of his show to address this, when some Barstool Sports guy tried to pile on Tim and Eric for their child-clown related comedy.
Another recurring sketch: Lucky Duck, where Tim plays a downtrodden simpleton who winds up, through luck, getting minor upgrades during customer service situations. He’s served a large orange juice when he ordered a small, and the waitress lets him keep it. His economy hotel room is unavailable, so he gets upgraded to a regular room which includes a continental breakfast and complimentary orange juice. A very brief, seconds-long snippet of a would-be full-fledged third sketch showing him walking directly into a pool while a glass or orange juice sits in the foreground plays after the credits. This actually was meant to be a full scene, and can be found on the DVD (or on this youtube playlist).
The Lucky Duck bit is hysterical, but, uh, Tim is basically just playing a guy with downs syndrome. It’s extremely evident from his look. I sorta buy into the possibility that it’s almost a mistake. So many of Tim & Eric’s characters bump right up to the definition of being mentally disabled, but rarely do they actually read that way during shallow observation. I can envision Tim concocting this look, being drunk on laughter as it comes together, and that overpowering his sense of decency to not do it (or even think not to do it). Lotta people have been there, bro. I vaguely recall Tim referring to this on Office Hours and kinda tugged his collar as if he got away with something. He’s off scot-free, and I respect it.
Last but not lease, this episode has the fairly funny Cinco Bro-oche, which is acted by the same company of men who did the eye-tanning sketch from whatever season that was. This one’s a bit of a rehash, in that all the same convoluted procedures for that are also required for this. It also involves installing a screw hole directly into your torso to screw the Bro-oche into. I do think this is the maybe the strongest version of this sketch. Such a pleasingly dumb concept, and little touches like calling the peace sign “the peace signal” really make me smile.
Aside from the too-gross Kids Break, and the very lame wraparounds, this one has a lotta good in it. Lucky Duck and the Bro-Oche in particular are well-crafted, with the Dream Cream bit being a little sloppy, but with a lotta funny moments. That wraparound though is a Musky Bust.
MAIL BAG
I have to respectfully but strongly disagree with you about the Space Ghost room half episode. I thought it was hilarious and a much needed step up from the Gametap schlock. I loved everyone understandably hating the movie
I forgive you for disagreeing with me. I think I oversold my dislike of those bumpers. I liked 'em fine, really, and I wasn't being very generous by saying they were merely a cut above the GameTap episodes. They just didn't match my memories of the first time seeing them. It's more like splitting the difference between Gametap and an average episode of Coast to Coast. Plenty to like!

hp made the antichrist (rant)
i havent complained about this on here yet, so
HP 14t-bs000 laptop in the same market as the HP Stream laptop, this laptop (which doesnt have a product name for some reason)... fucking sucks. so much.
i used this piece of shit (which im currently typing this on) nearly every day for at least a year, so im comfortable with saying this is the worst computer ive ever used.
for all you tech people out there, here are the specs: HP 14t-bs000 1DN87AV laptop Intel Celeron N3060 @1.60 GHz, 2 cores, 2 threads 4GB DDR3L-1600 PC3L-12800S Non-ECC RAM 32GB eMMC storage Intel HD 400 Graphics 1GB RAM 1366x768 60Hz display Windows 10 Home
for those of you in the know, you might already see the problem(s)
so using this laptop every day was hell imagine being in 2020 and doing school online alas, this computer is all you have what do you do? suffer
this laptop is slow. extremely slow. i can hear the intel celeron (intel celery) in this laptop begging for mercy every time i power it on this processor is worse than one from 17 years ago (10 years in 2017) im not kidding this (2017) celeron n3060 performs worse than the (2007) core 2 duo i found in a $6 pc i got at the thrift store
Tumblr media
and it sure as hell feels that way you better have patience and a lot of it half the time i cant tell if its actually doing anything this celery stick of a cpu makes browsing the internet a pain which is a problem because that's what this computer was made to do
[on a slightly unrelated note, the keyboard randomly stopped working while i was typing that]
much like the cpu, the ram also sucks. 4gb is barely enough to run windows 10. it functions, and i appreciate that hp lets you upgrade it up to like 8gb, but its still not good.
the screen. no. ok so, congratulations hp, you somehow invented the worst screen ever. good job. it has god awful viewing angles, and i use "viewing" in jest because you cant see this screen for some reason, hp decided it would be a good idea to have a glossy screen, making this more of a tinted mirror supposedly, this makes for better colors, but that doesnt matter WHEN I CANT SEE THE GOD DAMN SCREEN hp also supposedly made a matte finish screen for this line of laptops, but i cant find a single one so yeah, screen sucks, but it is a very light annoyance compared to the storage
32 GB of storage. Need I say more? 32 GB is nothing. I shit you not, the damn operating system takes up more than 2/3 of the storage. That is unacceptable.
Tumblr media
How the fuck do you expect the average person to deal with this? You install one program and Windows is already complaining. The average person sees the low storage notification and runs into the wilderness with their doomsday supplies.
If you want this computer to be usable in any way, you need an SD card or an SSD (we'll get back to that in a minute). I'm sorry, is it too much to ask HP Inc (ranked #63 on the Fortune 500 list) for a laptop that's usable out of the box? It's fucked up that you can sell laptops with that little storage in the modern day. 32GB is already awful, but to only have roughly 10 GB actually usable? You can install a couple apps and download a few files before you're completely out of space. At a certain point, you can't update Windows or even browse the internet until you clear up some storage. Was 64GB too much to ask for? Even that isn't a lot, but it's usable! You can install things without immediately running out of space, a concept HP clearly hasn't heard of.
"Yeah, the laptop sucks, but who gives a shit? It's a bottom-of-the-barrel laptop, what did you expect?" I EXPECT IT TO BE FUCKING USABLE. The average person doesn't know much about computers. They see a low price and immediately bite, not knowing they just opened a pit into hell. They start using it, notice it's extremely slow, learn they can't download shit, give up, and leave it in a closet for 20 years.
I understand that this laptop, $150 to $250 when new, was not expected to be good. I know. I'm just asking for usability. The fact that HP thought it was acceptable to sell this thing is further proof that HP fucking sucks. The very existence of this laptop defies God. This laptop's manufacture infamously lead to the Third Crusade. This laptop is the Antichrist.
ok ok ok yes im being overly dramatic i know but i cannot stress enough how horrible this laptop is to use there are school laptops better than this
in fact I have used at least 2 different school laptops that are better to use than this
Dell Latitude 3190 Intel Pentium Silver N5030 @1.10GHz, 4 cores, 4 threads 8GB DDR4-2400 RAM 128GB eMMC Intel UHD Graphics 605 Windows 10 Education
Comparing this laptop to the HP laptop is like comparing a desk to a rusty pile of nails This Dell laptop is so god damn usable like it has storage! it has ram! it has a processor! if you removed all of the school web filters and whatnot, you'd get a low end (but more than usable!) laptop and they just gave these out! like i said, this hp laptop is worse than a school laptop
another school laptop Dell Chromebook 3110 Intel Celeron N4500 @1.10GHz, 2 cores, 2 threads 4GB LPDDR4-2933 RAM 32GB eMMC ChromeOS
while yes, these are basically the specs of the HP laptop, it doesn't feel that way when they stole the other dell laptop from us and gave us this thing as a consolation prize, I was pissed however, it feels fine, mostly because it's a chromebook chromeos takes up less resources, less space, doesn't need anything fancy plus, i think intel recently improved their celeron processors so that they aren't outperformed by decades-old processors (i dont have a source for this) in any case, it still feels usable
This is not good for HP. In popular culture, school laptops are stereotypically fucking atrocious. Yet, somehow, HP managed to make something worse.
there are computers from 10+ years ago for half the price on ebay that are leagues ahead of this sinful pile of plastic
Tumblr media
im sure you can find much better deals than this online
please if you need a laptop and dont care about its specs please dear god dont buy this laptop or similar ones still sold find something on ebay save up a bit more for something better whatever it takes to not get this laptop this laptop has caused me so much fucking frustration so much anxiety i wouldnt wish this laptop on any of my enemies
ok redeeming qualities: it technically functions and its easy to work on which is a good thing because if you actually plan on using this rattly lump of lead and depression, you definitely want to upgrade some things
this laptop comes from a line of better laptops, so luckily theres a lot of easy upgradability for one, all of the screws are easily accessible and the bottom of the laptop comes off relatively easily, plus it has an easily removable battery for two, half of the laptop comes highlighted in blank
Tumblr media
see those shiny metal plates on the left side? thats called opportunity for that is not useless space, it is expansion
Tumblr media
on the left is mini-SATA, and the right is regular SATA to the average jim, this doesnt mean anything but if you're in the know, you'll know that you can use these for SSDs, HDDs, and optical drives yes, some of these laptops came with actual storage better yet, you can use these!
Tumblr media
so i bought the cheapest 256gb ssd that micro center sold, and instantly octupled (8x) the storage capacity (depending on how you count it, i may have nontupled [9x] the storage) and all of a sudden, the laptop is usable!!! still slow as shit, mind you, but i can store files! i can install programs without fear! using the analogy from earlier, its like turning the rusty pile of nails into a small table
I have also upgraded the ram to 8GB it didnt make it much better, but its the thought that counts with this newfound power, im tempted to get the optical drive, an internal fan (because it currently doesnt have one and can get hot, and even a new motherboard with a better processor
ok so In conclusion, this laptop fucking sucks and the fact that HP sold any of them is a testament to God's weakness. However, it can be improved. But it still fucking sucks, fuck you HP.

Best Camera For Filming
Tumblr media
Are you an aspiring videographer or filmmaker looking to start your video production career with a low-cost, user-friendly camera? With so many specifications and features, selecting the correct camera might be overwhelming. As an independent filmmaker, I am aware of the difficulties. Thus, we've got you covered with our top 10 beginner video camera list.
This article will streamline the process, assisting those just starting or looking to boost their game with the best beginner camera for photography and videography.
Part 1: How Do I Choose a Video Camera?
Anyone who wants to get into filmmaking must first make a beginner camera for videography selection. The selection process might be intimidating, given the number of options on the market. Take into account the following significant criteria to make an informed choice:
1. Identify Your Need
Before anything else, decide your primary use for the camera. Are you preparing to record interviews, trip videos, sports footage, or other types of videography? The kind of camera you should think about will be greatly influenced by the use you have in mind.
2. Camera Types
There are several distinct types of video cameras, each of which caters to varied demands and levels of expertise:
Camcorders: These are easy to use and small, making them great for beginners. They are great for filming events, interviews, and family films and have built-in lenses and simple controls.
DSLR and Mirrorless Cameras: These adaptable models are preferred by filmmakers and videographers. They enable interchangeable lenses, giving you more artistic control over your photographs. DSLRs and mirrorless cameras have great image quality and work well with many different types of filming.
Action Cameras: If you enjoy documenting sports or adventure, action cameras like the GoPro are small, tough, and built to resist harsh environments. They are ideal for capturing fast-paced events.
Cinema cameras: These are more expensive and sophisticated options frequently utilized in professional filmmaking. They offer superb image quality, exact controls, and many customizing options. Consider them if you're serious about making films.
3. Resolution
The quality of the video is essential. Aim for at least 1080p (Full HD) resolution for high-quality videos. Many current cameras provide 4K (Ultra HD) or even 8K possibilities for more clarity and detail. Your budget and the planned usage of your footage will influence your decision. Note that greater resolutions could necessitate more processing power and storage space.
4. Budget
Set up a feasible budget before hitting the market. Knowing your budgetary limitations can help you narrow down your alternatives because video cameras come in a wide range of prices. There are affordable cameras with good video quality suited for amateurs and high-end devices that offer unique features.
So, for selecting the best beginner camera for photography and videography, you must carefully evaluate your requirements, financial constraints, and desired features. You'll be well on your way to producing stunning videos that reflect your creativity once you have a good starter camera for video.

Nintendo Direct 2/8/24 summary:
First part lagged imo. They started off with an extended Pikmin 4 trailer which seemed alright, go Pikmin fans, but I remember a lot of those early announcements being pretty lackluster.
Worst reveal was the fuckin anime cop game.
I don't remember the first "big" reveal unless it was the Game Boy reveal. That was the turning point of the Direct. The Game Boy by itself is whatever, but there are two factors that made it better: the GB/C games are available for the cheaper Nintendo Switch online service, which I have, and the availability of GBA games for the more expensive service.
Now, GRANTED - I would prefer if they didn't have a staggered pricing model for their Online. The Switch launched without paid online, it's an entirely arbitrary cost for every platform including and especially Nintendo Switch, I don't like having to pay for online. Barring that, I would prefer GBA games to also be available on the cheaper price tier. They're just ROMs, and they're some of the most easily emulatable ROMs at that. It's solely for the sake of providing more value and a tangible hook for their more expensive price tier. But given the reality of the situation, I at least appreciate that they didn't *just* shuffle out the Game Boy/GBC ROMs and call it a day. Even if the situation is far from perfect, I at least appreciate that they put out two virtual consoles instead of just one.
I'm going to continue my Pokemon Emerald Full National Dex ROMhack playthrough though. Also they picked Wario Land 3 over Wario Land 2? Boooooooo
Remasters/ports are contentious, but I don't mind them for games I haven't played before. PC set-ups and emulation for more controller-centric games have never been very comfortable or feasible for me? I play a lot of 2D RPGs, which are more manageable on a keyboard set-up, but I could never really get into more kinetic games like Mega Man X until I got it on the Switch and played it with a controller. Again, ROMs are fine, but as far as making older games available on newer hardware and making it more accessible to play? I thought this Direct had a lot of great remasters that I'll probably end up getting.
Etrian Odyssey Trilogy HD. Three first person dungeon crawler games, hopefully at a good price. Baiten Kaitos, cult classic card battle JRPGs. Metroid Prime remaster, stealth-dropping TODAY (which I called so hard because I wanted it).
NEW PROFESSOR LAYTON LET'S GOOOOOO
Fantasy Life looks fun.
I'm really looking forward to the next Zelda game.
I was gonna watch the Snapcube Metroid Prime streams after I finish watching her Dragon Quest 8 VODs, but I'll have to postpone that until I play the remaster now.
I tend to enjoy Nintendo Directs and other gaming showcases, and this was no exception. I think that there are a lot of good RPGs coming to the Switch, which I'm stoked about. Golden Sun was in the GBA VC's upcoming titles line-up.

Okay, so update on the streaming situation. Turns out Fox isn't in Sling since I don't live in one of the exact places that provides it, and Fox Now won't work either since adding my sling account didn't do anything... because of the same reason stated above. Who knew Fox was so picky when it came to service providers? I even tried to connect this HD antenna that I bought a month ago to my TV. Didn't work either, probably because I live on the first floor of an apartment and the signal is too weak to pick anything up...
Oh well. It was worth a try at least. So my options are to either wait until tomorrow night when Smackdown's episode from tonight airs at around 6 PM on FS1, try to find some basic live stream online (not the most ethical/moral thing ever, I know) or just stick to what I already have with the cable. I guess I should still be grateful for all the other stuff I got that I like to watch (USA, TBS, TNT, AXS, TRUTV, Etc.) So it's not a total loss. I'll still try Sling for a few months, see how it feels, and if I ain't feeling it, I can always switch to Hulu in the future, which is a bit more expensive but seems to at least have all the channels I watch including Fox (except for CNN, which my grandma likes to watch)
So long story short, guess we'll just wait and see what happens. 😂

"What was that like? Did you freak out about it with people? Did you have an outlet? Did you spend months trying to figure out if anyone got shot?"
My experience probably isn't representative because I'm European and back then it would take literal years for new shows/seasons to air in my country (and then they are always dubbed – ugh). I had to watch it via crappy online streams that were difficult to find at that time and took hours to load. That also meant I didn't know anyone in real life who watched it and was alone in my misery. I was mainly on LiveJournal at that time and that's where I followed the speculation (and there was a shitton of it, especially right after the finale and shortly before S2). I would say people were losing their mind just as much because it was entirely possible that one of the characters would end up dead. Still glad we only lost Mandy to Mandyville.
And as I'm typing that, I realize it's basically the same with LS right now. Don't know anyone who watches it, have to find videos online (at least they are HD now instead of tiny and grainy) and it's tumblr instead of LiveJournal. But yeah, fandom wasn't that different twenty years ago, except maybe the interaction felt slower.
It's incredible how committed you are. Tons of respect.
