BE had a very clear-cut corruption arc going for this character; obviously fiction is open to interpretation, whether or not people liked it or felt it was well-executed, well-earned, or believable is one thing, but to deny that the corruption arc was written, period, or to express upset that it hit its mark with some of the audience, strikes me as very weird.

#BE commentary #and it does come from one group which makes it a LITTLE more clear but ...#i don't even really get the pedant argument against this #yeah mary didn't do this at this time in history (ambiguous timeline what time IS it on the show notwithstanding)#but she did eventually do this #so.... why is there so much umbrage that this was presented in the show?#do you find it unpalatable that mary did this? or do you not like that it was portrayed?#or both?#bcus it's very understandable to not have much sympathy for this #it's not very understandable to be angry at those that did not have sympathy for this #do people have to be 'relatable' to be compelling? idts #people can be compelling and not sympathetic #i found mary on this show to be much of the former and very little of the latter #except in the first half of the show #(see above)

okay so there were a ton of posts/fics about the hilarious "fuck/maryy/kill" Bruce Wayne & Justice League scenario (I read them all, amazing comedic timing y'all) but to me, the most hilarious scenario is the JL play fuck/marry/kill, Bruce's name comes up, and half of the people in the room in the know immediately turn bright red and refuse to keep playing and no one will explain why.

Hal: "...and I would fuck Bruce Wayne. No, I would kill him. Nah, actually I'd fuck him, who am I kidding."

Clark: choking on his coffee and rapidly turning an alarming shade of red

Diana: "An....interesting choice, of course."

J'onn: "Shall we play a different game?"

Hal: "Wait, what? that was the game, wasn't it?"

Ollie: "I'm with Hal, I'd fuck the shit out of Bruce. He's the easiest guy I know, it's not like it'll exactly be a hardship for him."

i don’t want to be pedantic, but all they had to do was omit two choice words from this and i probably would have been fine with it:

#they HAD to add the 'younger even'...for what #the your age is vague enough while not technically correct that i could accept it but man this is just my bugbear #it frustrates me MORE for having been so close to perfect in my estimation if that makes sense #the thing is that if they wanted to refer also to a 'younger even' then they needed to make reference to something she endured when she WAS #younger even #she was the same age as elizabeth is here when she was separated from her mother #(but they can't really do that one bcus elizabeth was two when she lost hers; far more violently)#(like there was shame and stigma for mary tied into her repudiation and the separation from her mother but it wasn't the same)#or she could reference her time in wales bcus one interpretation is that that was 'vindictive' on henry's part to separate her from her #mother at such a tender age . or maybe the existence of henry fitzroy?#idk . but to reference younger you have to...reference younger. if that makes sense #the thing is really that nothing is going to be comparable to elizabeth being interrogated into a confession and her servants under arrest #except mary being interrogated into a confession in the same #which she DOES reference but is not at 'younger'#BE commentary
