We are looking at someone still stuck at the bottom of Maslow's hierarchy of needs.#Everything and everyone is a piece in a game. Bonds and friendships are assets. People are dispensable.#He wants to climb for the sake of climbing. He wants praise and recognition because he feels it is deserved. Remember when Toei reanimated Luffy and Zoro’s meeting for a flashback right before the peak of Zoro vs King, and in it they made the stylistic choice to gradually make the world brighter and brighter as Zoro makes his vow, in one long and beautiful shot framed to show the way Luffy’s perfectly reflected in Zoro’s eyes, to show that it’s him changing Zoro’s entire world and becoming the center of it. Remember that.

I am not ashamed to admit that I repeatedly daydream about how, to a much younger Tim, having a baby brother is an actual wish come true! These two would grow well in each other's care as they would be able to rely on the other, if given the chance. They'd be quite the fun team!
