Gotham winters are cold, windy, and relentless. There are few places to find refuge from the harsh bite of the chilling wind and fewer remedies to the wind-burned skin and seemingly permanent chapped lips.
Jason Todd, however, is a Gotham boy, born and raised, so he knows the importance of staying moisturized and protected in the winter. So, it's no surprise that he keeps lip balm in his pocket all winter.
No, it isn’t intimidating to see Red Hood putting Chapstick on, but having cracked lips is far more frightening. He finds quiet alleys, tipping his helmet up to combat dry lips before returning to his vigilante duties. Nightwing has only caught him once, and Jason is intent on never experiencing that level of brotherly torture (teasing) again.
✯✯✯✯✯
Since joining the small group of vigilantes, Red Hood has captured and kept your attention. Never saying more than a few words to you, he always seems nearby and eager to help you out of trouble, but you can’t get past that point.
Nightwing and Robin occasionally tell you their ideas to get him to open up to you, convinced there’s something between you, but you brush it off and admire the man in red from a distance.
The night wind is blowing hard enough you’re uncomfortable standing on such a high roof. You tuck yourself behind anything stationary, including Red Hood.
Under the hood, Jason smiles to himself. He knows why you’re standing close to him, your concern for the wind mixing with an irrational idea that he will allow anything to happen to you. But, if you want to use him to block the wind from your pretty face, he’s happy to stay perfectly still. However, his gaze keeps dropping to your lips.
Jason watches you; he has been since you first stumbled upon them in a less than satisfactory suit. You were bleeding from a run-in with several muggers but smiling through your pain because you managed to make someone feel safe in Gotham; a rare feat unless you’re Batman. Instantly drawn to you, Red Hood has let himself get close enough to consider you a friend but not close enough to talk to you or worry incessantly about where you are through the day.
You say something, and Jason shakes his head to escape his memories of you, focusing on you and your dry-lipped smile. The winds are blowing up the building and into your face even as he blocks the worst of it, and your rosy cheeks amplify Jason’s growing concern. He wants to offer his jacket to you, even his chapstick – an unwelcome idea of kissing you to share it enters his mind, but he shoves it away. Or tries to; the imagined feeling of your lips on his is hard to shake.
After your question goes unanswered the second time, you wonder if Red Hood fell asleep under the helmet. He jerks sideways when you slide your hand into his pocket. His grip falls away from the holster on his thigh when he realizes it’s just you. (Though he’d never think 'just you' about anything.) You pull your hand out of the worn leather jacket, a small white tube in your grasp. Keeping your eyes on the small eye slits of the mask, you uncap the balm and put it directly on your lips.
“Thanks,” you say, smiling as you place it back in his pocket before turning away.
Anyone else, and he’d throw it away, unwilling to share such a personal item, but since he just thought about sharing it in a much different way, he doesn’t mind the idea of you doing it again. He’ll have to remember which pocket he put it in and leave it there for you, he decides.
✯✯✯✯✯
“It’s freezing,” you groan, rubbing your arms as you walk inside the warm apartment. “Why can’t we move to Metropolis?”
Jason laughs at you, his best friend. Since he developed what Dick refuses to call anything but “a crush” on his vigilante partner, he’s wondered what this thing with you is. You are his friend, of course, but there is something more there. Jason has never been good with feelings, and he’s in a strange spot between two women who affect him, similar yet completely different in how he responds.
“Because we can’t afford it,” Jason hums, welcoming you onto the couch beside him.
You slide your cold feet under his sweatpants-clad legs, sighing when he lays his arm over your shoulders.
“We who, Mr. Trust Fund Wayne?” you tease, leaning your head against his upper arm. “Thanks for inviting me over, though, even if I did get frostbite on the way.”
Jason chuckles, stopping short when he remembers something someone else said after fighting Mr. Freeze during a riot at Arkham. Shaking his head, he determines that he has a type.
“I’m stealing this,” you interrupt his reading, pulling a hoodie from the back of his couch.
“Be my guest,” he murmurs, watching you pull it over your head. You feel warmer beside him after a few minutes, and when you dig a small tub of lip balm out of your pocket, Jason wonders if he should move to Metropolis.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Where did it go?” Jason says to himself, barely audible through the voice modifier of the mask.
“Whatcha looking for?” you ask, dropping to the fire escape beside Red Hood. He doesn’t answer, but when you realize all his attention is focused on one pocket, you know. “Really? I need it again, too,” you lament.
Red Hood sighs, turning toward you. Your lips still look fine, with no sign of chapping in sight. Deciding he needs it more than you do, Jason seizes the opportunity.
Pushing his helmet up, he grabs your face between his warm, gloved hands. Pulling you against him, Jason presses his lips to yours, moving with you as the moisturizing gloss spreads across his lips.
“Better?” he asks, smirking before his face is hidden behind his helmet again.
Your face is still in his hands as you nod. “Nightwing took it,” you whisper.
Jason rolls his eyes and leans forward, whispering, “Who needs it when I have you?”
“You do,” you reply, dumbfounded and breathless from the kiss you’ve admittedly been daydreaming about. “I got mine from you.”
Red Hood laughs, and it warms you from the inside out. You think for a moment you’ve heard that laugh before, but then the idea disappears.
✯✯✯✯✯
The next day, you beat Jason back to his apartment after leaving the manor. Letting yourself in, you walk to his bookshelf to see if he’s gotten any new books. A leather jacket is lying on the floor beside the shelf, and when you pick it up, something falls out of the pocket.
“Hey,” Jason greets, closing the door behind him.
Turning, you hold the chapstick up, looking at him with wide eyes and a slack jaw.
“Yeah?”
He comes to your side, his brows pinched.
“Are you-“
You drop everything in your hands before grabbing the collar of his shirt and pulling him down to you. As you kiss him, everything clicks into place.
Falling in love with Jason and Red Hood simultaneously wasn’t some cruel trick of fate or a mistake… you’d been with the same guy all along.
Pulling back, Jason takes a moment before opening his eyes. He blinks at you several times, trying to speak and failing.
“Really?” you ask, tilting your head. “I see that made a much bigger impact on me than it did on you.”
Jason still can’t answer, his mind going over each similarity that he should have caught on to, each mirrored movement or similar response. Your kiss, though… your kiss is unmistakable. He believed his lies about the touches and the words, but nothing can compete with your affection.
“Thank you,” Jason whispers, pulling you close again.
“For what?” you ask, brushing your fingers through the white streak in his hair. “It took me way too long to realize.”
“For everything,” he answers before kissing you again.
✯✯✯✯✯
Your first patrol after learning not just Red Hood but everyone’s true identities is interesting. Bringing your own protection against the current blizzard, you're grateful for the foresight after you get separated from Jason.
Waiting near Arkham and shivering in the cold, you don’t hear the crunch of boots on snow until Red Hood grabs your waist and spins you around. Without his helmet, only a domino mask to protect his identity (pointless in the dark storm), he doesn’t wait before pressing his lips to yours, eager to try a new flavor and get more of you. After waiting so long and being tortured by his tragic decision to love two women at once, Jason deserves to show you how much he cares for you twice as often as he wishes. And if you start buying crazy lip balm flavors to mess with him, he’ll love you even more for it.

tokyo ghoul characters and their skincare routines
kaneki doesn't have an extravagant routine, but he still takes care of his skin. probably just a basic 3-step routine with soap, moisturizer, and spf. i feel like he kinda has dry skin in the winter, so he probably also keeps chapstick and a little tube of hand lotion in his backpack or pockets.
haise on the other hand has more skincare products than he can count and the quinx squad is tired of how much space it takes up in the bathroom. definitely has one of those fluffy hairbands. he's a double cleanse, toner, at least 3 serums, eye cream, moisturizer, and sunscreen guy. he also exfoliates 2-3 times a week and does a mask every night.
ayato might wash his face with hand soap on a good day. his skin is annoyingly clear.
urie has that patrick bateman skincare routine. face ice pack for morning puffiness, cleanser, exfoliate, a peel-off mask, alcohol-free aftershave, moisturizer, eye cream, and spf. he has the second most extra skincare routine of the quinx squad.
juuzou doesn't want the stitches on his face to get infected, so he takes a good amount of time to wash his face every day. he doesn't really use anything else because he doesn't want it to mess with his stitches. yes, that includes moisturizer and spf.
akira is another skincare diva like haise. actually, she probably put him on to a bunch of his favorite products. she has a pretty regimented routine that she follows to a T. every product she uses is probably really expensive too. she likes to pamper herself.
touka has a pretty average skincare routine. a bit more than kaneki's routine, but not a skincare diva. she does cleanser (one wash in the morning, double cleanse at night), maybe one serum and/or spot treatment for breakouts (she is the most annoyed by ayato's skincare routine because she breaks out easily), moisturizer, and spf. sometimes if yoriko comes over on the weekend, they do masks together.
eto either has a very high maintenance skincare routine or doesn't do anything at all. it depends on the day. on the days she does do skincare, she goes over the top to balance all the nights she falls asleep while writing and does nothing. prone to buying new expensive products to try and not using them.
tsukiyama is the biggest skincare diva on this list. also has a 10+ step skincare routine. not a single product in his collection is less than $100. he gets those gold face masks that models get. and has a facial at least once a month. probably spends at least an hour applying all his products in the most careful way possible. nothing but the best for tsukiyama shuu
hinami has a skincare routine similar to touka's (probably learned it from her when they lived together). her criteria for products is if the packaging is cute. she probably makes ayato do pore cleansing masks with, she is appalled by his twice a month hand soap routine.
saiko buys any products that have animals or characters on the packaging, especially any sanrio x (insert skincare brand) products. she gets a bit lazy with it though, and she's prone just using face wipes so she doesn't have to stop watching her anime or playing her game
mutsuki is a skincare minimalist. soap, moisturizer, and spf works fine for him. doesn't see the point in all of haise's expensive serums. another dry skin boy, he probably also carries around lotion in the winter because his hands get really dry.
shirazu washes his face with shampoo in the shower. yes, shampoo.

Hi! Do you have an easy peasy guide to skincare and hygiene for depressed dummies? 😃
Hi love! Sharing a high-level, basic skincare routine and hygiene tips to follow:
Morning Skincare:
Gentle facial cleanser & water
Vitamin C serum + hyaluronic acid
Facial moisturizer
Sunscreen designed for your face (at least SPF 50 – I think that this La Roche Posay SPF 60 choice is the best option for the money)
Apply sunscreen to your hands, neck, and any parts that will be exposed to the sun (Don't forget to use an SPF lip balm, too!)
Nighttime Skincare:
Remove any makeup (I love these Simple makeup wipes!)
Gentle cleanser
Toner/serums (only use AHAs like glycolic acid or lactic acid and retinol/retinoids at night, using them during the day can increase chances of sunburning)
Facial moisturizer (can be heavier than the one you use during the day, especially in the winter or if you have dry skin)
Spot treatments (if needed)
Eye cream
Skincare Extras:
Exfoliate your face 2-3 times/week (I love the First Aid Beauty Radiance Pads but the CeraVe Renewing Salicylic Acid Cleanser is a great drugstore option!)
Always use disposable cloths instead of a regular towel on your face to reduce bacteria, breakouts, or infections (I love the Clean Skin Club ones!)
Exfoliate your body 2-3 times a week using a dry brush or a scrub (I love the CeraVe Salicylic Acid Body Cleanser, but my favorite is the OUAI Sugar Scrub) and follow it up with a hydrating body moisturizer
Always exfoliate and moisturize before shaving, waxing, or other body hair removal treatments (look up the timeframes for the type of hair removal you choose)
Scrub under your nails daily with antibacterial soap & water and a nail brush
Vaseline is a versatile staple item that can be used as an affordable alternative to an eye cream, cuticle oil, lip balm, or hand cream, and can be used to treat any dry, cracked, or rough patches on the skin
Use a hand lotion and moisturizer on your feet with socks every night before bed
Aloe vera and coconut oil are great skincare staples to keep on hand to soothe burns, irritation, or inflamed skin
Haircare Tips:
Shampoo your skull, condition the rest: Focus shampoo on your roots and work it through your scalp; concentrate conditioner on the ends and work your way up until you reach the base of your skull - around your upper ear lobe
Always comb, never brush, your hair when wet: Gently use a wide-tooth comb, from root to tip, on wet hair to prevent breakage
Use a special towel to dry your hair: My favorite is from Crown Affair (pricey for what it is but worthwhile in the long-term), but a Turbie Twist from the drugstore works infinitely better than a regular towel that weighs down and causes frizzy, damaged hair
Always use a heat protection spray before blow drying or straightening/curling your hair: (Briogeo and Oribe products are my love for all haircare products, including their blowdry creams – also love R +Co. for a heat protection styling mist)
Choose your hair ties wisely: Use seamless or silk hair ties exclusively to prevent breakage or awkward creases on your hair. Wear a silk scrunchie if you prefer. These hair ties from Amazon are my holy grail (only $7 for 100 hair ties!), and they come in a portable ziplock bag
Use dryer sheets to minimize hair frizz and water or Vaseline to slick back fly-aways
Other Hygiene Tips:
Brush teeth, floss, & skincare (2x/day); Get a water pick, too, if you can!
Use a toothbrush cover at all times; Close the toilet seat before flushing
Wash your body towels at least once a week
Wash your pillowcases weekly and sheets at least once every 2 weeks
Throw out and replace your mascara every 2-3 months
Change your underwear and socks daily or more after sweating/working out
For those who menstruate, change your pad or tampon every 3-4 hours
Vulva owners: Use a fragrance-free soap on the outside, only water to clean the inside – no fancy wipes or douching. Wipe front to back!
Wear cotton underwear whenever possible; Find a fabric that breathes
Have a similar buttocks cleansing routine that you do for your face to prevent embarrassing zits or acne
Don't shave between waxes; Use tweezers if necessary a few days after your hair removal treatment
Always wash your hands before touching your face
Hope this helps xx

What's your skincare routine currently?
I actually spent the other week taking stock of how my current routine was working and deciding if I needed to change anything, so I have a lot to say on this
AM:
Wash face with water
(extra step for wintertime) Avène thermal water
Serum with antioxidants and niacinamide: just switched from facetheory Colloidal-C Anti-Redness Toner, which I got in hope of reducing redness (did nothing for me) back to facetheory’s Cera-C Pore Reducing Toner, which actually makes my skin look great. It has 5% niacinamide and a vitamin C derivative, which is what I want – I just would like extra perks (anti-redness). An alternative I’m considering is the Isntree Onion Newpair Gel cream.
(extra step if my skin is feeling very dry i.e. what I use during winter) hydrating serum: I’ve just finished Avène Hydrance Serum which I found very hydrating though too light weight (i.e. not good for winter for me) and honestly it lasted so little that I won’t buy it again. My go to instead is snail mucin: Mizon’s Snail Repair Ampoule (best formula but not so much product, what I’m currently using); or COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Essence (best bang for your buck, though my pump was really bad)
Alpha-arbutin: most recent addition to my skincare & it seems to be making a difference when it comes to discoloration (PIE). I’m using Beauty of Joseon Glow Deep Serum, mostly because this was the only product I could find here in Norway.
Caffeine for my undereye: I’m using The Inkey List Caffeine Eye Cream – while I can say it’s infinitely better than what The Ordinary offers (because why would you use a dropped for something that goes around the eyes!!), I can’t tell if I’m seeing results or not, despite using it for almost three months. Maybe?
Moisturizer: Eucerin 5% Urea Repair, my holy grail of all time. I buy this by the litre. Since I entered my mid-20s, my skin has turned dry. Combined with drier winters and the heating I have to put on to survive winter, this is the only thing that makes my skin stay intact.
Sunscreen: probably controversial, but I actually don’t wear sunscreen everyday, as the amount of light I get is ridiculous (though I do in the summer or if there is snow). Over the past year, I tried several ones and my top two choices are Beauty of Joseon Sun Relief (cannot fault a single thing and I found it to be good value for money based on how long it lasted me) and Isntree Onion Newpair Sunscreen (jury is out on whether the onion extract actually helps me, but I found the texture to be perfect for me and it actually ensures I apply a proper amount since it’s not too runny)
Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment: amazing!! This has been so far the only thing that helped with redness. I haven’t worn foundation in a year and it’s only because of this. I don’t even think it’s that expensive because I spent 30£ for a 50 ml jar which lasts me six months of daily use. Love it.
PM:
My routine is the following:
Double cleanse: I’ve been liking a lot the Beauty of Jonseon Cleansing Balm – so far the best cleansing product I’ve tried. Micellar water is a no for me, as I don’t like using cotton pads. Oils are mostly ok as an alternative, with iUnik Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil being my failsafe (but it doesn’t remove 100% of my mascara).   Next, I use a foaming cleansing gel. My go-to used to be Neutrogena Clear & Defend, but it keeps being sold out, so I’m now using  CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser. It works fine. My main criteria here is price tbh.
facetheory Exaglow serum: the daily base, with tranexamic acid, liquorice root, and a vitamin c derivative, this in combination with whatever active follows has helped me reduce my hyperpigmentation so so much
An active (see below)
Moisturizer: Eucerin Urea repair, again.
Actives is when things get more complicated, because I rotate weekly between (combinations of) them
Differin (adapalene): game changer, I tolerate it very well and I recently increased it to three times per week  + Azelaic acid: I love it and over the years I tried so many different products (available in Europe). I find that for me 10% works just as well as 20%. Usually, a higher price tag gets you better texture (i.e. less grainy) but not better results. Isispharma Metroruboril was very smooth, but a more basic one works just fine for me – hence why I keep going back to The Ordinary’s 10% one. It’s not an area where I feel like I should be spending a lot.
Kojic acid: I’m using Dermaceutic’s Radiance, which works fine in combination with my overall routine. + Retinol: bit of a controversial combination, but because I’ve been using retinols for so long, this works fine. I’m using A313, which is v gentle. I bought it in Paris and it has a too thick texture in my opinion, so once I finished the tube I’ll go back to my fave L’Oreal Revitalift (amazing fragrance, great texture, very hydrating too)
An exfoliant: while some of my products have small percentages of lactic acid in it, so I never felt the need to have a dedicated exfoliating step up. However, I thought I could benefit from it and started using  facetheory’s Glycolacsal which has glycolic acid (8.5%), salicylic acid (1%) and lactic acid (0.5%).  I use it twice a week and it’s really good.
In addition to all of this, twice a week I do a face mask with benoxyl peroxide in the shower which helps tons to keep acne at bay BUT is infinitely better than using the cream, which has bleached all of my towels. The cream used to be a must in my routine but now that overall my acne is under control, I don’t need to use it as often.
This ended up being extremely long, but I love skincare and I feel like I learnt so much about my own skin and how to work with it and what products work in the past few years. I’m testing new things but in a calculated manner. And I don’t know. Skincare is nothing static and the whole process of figuring things out can be fun (and necessary).

here’s what i tested this month - march 2024
Tumblr media
if you wouldn’t like to see posts like this, block the tag “🤍 lifestyle tag” 🖤
🕯 little disclaimer: these are all my own opinions; nothing incentivized or gifted; all bought on my own; products will always work differently for different people, so these may work differently for you
BYOMA Cleansing Oil ($12.99)
5/5 - I picked this up from my local target - I have been really enjoying this cleanser. When I have on makeup, I use this then the Milky Jelly Cleanser, but a lot of days I use this as my only cleanser. It’s really gentle on the skin and cleanses it without overly stripping it. This is probably one of the best oil cleansers I’ve ever tried. And it’s at Target. I use two pumps for my face. It removes eye makeup very gently and thoroughly without tugging on the skin or lashes. I was able to remove glitter with this too. I’ve personally used olive oil before when my mascara just wouldn’t come off and this cleanser works better than that. For reference.
PACIFICA Vegan Collagen Recovery Night Cream ($26.00)
2/5 - I bought this at target for $22.00 USD and since then there has been a price increase. I really wanted to like this night cream. Now, this is a collagen night cream, which contrary to popular clickbait skincare, does not increase collagen production. It contains collagen, which does not penetrate the deep layers of the skin (where your own collagen is produced), but what it does do is condition the skin a lot. Topical collagen is very good for that. That’s what I bought this with intentions of, since I tend to have normal to dry skin with topical dehydration, plus skin sensitivity. Now, this cream made my skin flush and it really didn’t moisturize as much as I expected it to as a night cream. This has some fragrance in it and I think that’s the ingredient that my skin did not like. It was not a good sensation. Way too expensive for what it is.
Saltair Serum Body Wash ($12.00)
5/5 - I got this at my local target, in scents “Exotic Pulp” and “Lush Greens”. I love both of the scents. As previously mentioned, I have sensitive skin. All my skin is sensitive. I’ve been really struggling to find a good body wash that isn’t very expensive and works for my skin. It’s probably been 4 years of looking for something that worked. This works. This body wash is very gentle without leaving the skin feeling “grubby” or oily. I can use this on my chest, where I have issues with body ache and breakouts, and I believe the niacinamide in this formula actually helped with that. “Exotic Pulp” is a tropical, citrus scent, like mangos, passionfruit, and oranges .”Lush Greens” is a very green smell, like a kale drink, but with a little bit of fruit, very fresh. I love both of these. A lot. I haven’t had dry patches, irritated areas, or hives, which I have had before from other body washes. And it’s $12.
Necessaire Body Wash ($25)
4/5 - I ordered this directly from Necessiare’s website. This is a really good body wash. I don’t really like the “Eucalyptus” scent, but it does smell like diluted eucalyptus, so it does smell like that. This doesn’t irritate my skin, I’m just not a massive smell of the scents. They do have an unscented version available. My biggest issue with it is the price. I don’t want to pay $25 for a body wash. It’s really good though. I just wish it was a little cheaper for how much you get. My favorite scent is “Bergamot” in this line, which is very bergamot and almost mossy. It’s good.
Necessaire Body Lotion ($28)
4/5 - I ordered this directly from Necessaire’s website. This is one of the only body lotions I’ve used that works for my skin. No breakouts, no greasy film, my skin actually absorbs it, and no irritation. My skin does not like coconut oil and this product has none. This one has no fragrance added so that’s not a factor I need to worry about. I hate the price. I don’t wanna pay $28 for something I go through rather quickly. But this lotion saved me this winter. So. I’ll probably still buy it but begrudgingly.
Frenshe Body Wash ($10.99)
3/5 - I got this at my local target. This is a pretty good body wash. I’m personally not crazy about any of the scents, but they are certainly not bad at all. My biggest qualm about this is that it dried out my skin a bit. It left it feeling tight. However, if you can tolerate body wash better than me, you’ll probably like it. I think the scents are generally very gender-neutral.
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner ($13.00)
4/5 - I got this at my local Target since it has an Ulta Beauty inside. I did not buy this for my face initially, I have some areas on my body where I like to exfoliate and my skin reacts to AHA’s very well. This works great on my body, I’ve had no irritation and I‘ve seen improvement in texture/breakouts. I did try this on my face and I did not like it. It has an oily consistency and it just sat on my face really weird. It didn’t really sink into my face well at all. So I really only use this on my body now and honestly, it’s fine because that’s why I bought it in the first place.

Rating the LI in Obey Me based on how they put on chapstick
a/n: tell me why anytime I see a guy put on chapstick, he tenses up so much
Puts it on like a normal person:
Mephistopheles: 10/10, skin care galore, lets it moisturize his lips first before he drinks, eats, or kisses you. The only one I can forgive for accidentally not reapplying throughout the day because he forgot.
Barbatos: 9/10, no one sees him do it, but always has moisturized lips. I think the best of him, so I trust he does it like a normal person.
Asmodeus: 8/10, he is the only one who does it right. Lost points because he will kiss you on the cheek after putting it on and will get it all over your face.
Satan: 7/10, reapplies throughout the day, doesn't make a weird face, keeps the Devildom's version of Aquafor on him at all times. Went to the beach after applying Aquafor and his lips got severly sunburnt.
Purses his lips and runs it over his lips once and is like "yeah that'll do":
Lucifer: 6/10, he got points because he reapplies throughout the day and his face while putting it on his funny. One of the only who doesn't have chapped lips.
Simeon: 6/10, gets points because he's actually moisturized somehow, but makes a weird face. Learns later how to do it normally.
Mammon: 5/10, has to have moisturized lips because he models. Sometimes will get it outside his lips and it makes him look greasy (I do that in winter because I get so dry so I get it). Reapplies after eating, but that's it.
Puckers his lips tensely and only applies it on one lip and then rubs them together:
Beelzebub: 4/10, once in the morning, doesn't reapply, has moderately chapped lips. Only get him Vaseline because the fruit flavored ones will make him pick and chew on his lips subconsciously, making his lips more chapped, which leads him to chew off the dead skin, which makes his lips more chapped, which leads to--
Leviathan: 2/10, CHAPPED LIPS. Doesn't help that he picks as his hands, lips, skin, acne, etc., leads to chapped lips. Is only fine after he spends a day outside -- which is never (Levi ily but seriously, go look at clouds) or after he goes swimming or whatever his part reptile ass does (he is my favorite to hate on he's wonderful guys I promise)
Chapped lips:
Thirteen: 4/10, she does regularly apply, she is just cursed with the girl problem of always having chapped lips. Me too... Me too...
Belphegor: 1/10, gets points for trying, he rubs it all off as soon as someone isn't watching because he doesn't like the texture. No matter what kind you get him, his face always looks greasy. You realize because, if he doesn't wipe it off, he sleeps with it on... Getting it to smear all over his face.
Kisses it off your lips:
Diavolo: 8/10, gets major points because his lips aren't chapped because he gets the expensive skin care regimen and is a moisturized king. Loses points because kissing it off of you instead of just putting on his own because you have to reapply, which then he kisses off, which makes you reapply, which then he kisses it off--
Solomon: 0/10, does it purely to annoy you. Will purposely make his lips chapped so you have to kiss his crusty self. Love him though, F for favoritism.

The dress looks beautiful 😍 🤩 but I got distracted and zoomed in on your skincare stand🫣🫣
Bun drop your skincare favs 🥺🤌🏻
oh god skincare is my only other non-bts hyperfixation. my skin is a hot mess express these days, i tried a new foundation that made me have an allergic reaction and then of course i went in with stuff that was too harsh so my barrier is a little fucked at the moment.
i use the cosrx snail mucin on it almost every day, it doesn't always work the best but at least it doesn't aggravate my allergies. I also really like the inuk brand of moisturizers- the tan one for winter and the green one for summer, just be careful of the blue one because it can cause you to break out if you use it too frequently.
as for eye creams- the ONLY ONE i think personally that is worth the money (and i have tried almost every single korean eyecream avalible for purcahce via yestyle, i will show you my empties. is the good molecules yerba mate eye gel. it's literally unparalleled, and it's so cheap i use it all over my face sometimes!
As for sunscreens the beauty of joseon really is as good as they say and fantastic for dry skin under makeup! and for sheet masks, it's literally Nature republic > innisfree >>>>>>>>> all others. you can find both occasionally for pretty cheap at tj maxx!
i could go on and on and on

Holiday Honey Hacks: Boosting Immunity for a Merry Christmas
It is time to accept the golden, delicious liquid that may keep you healthy and full of festive spirit honey as the holiday season comes near.
For centuries, people have enjoyed this amazing gift of nature for its many health advantages, including its capacity to strengthen immunity.
Together, let's make this Christmas not only joyful but also healthy.
Tumblr media
Understanding the Immune - Boosting Power of Honey
Not only is honey a healthy sweetener, but it also contains minerals, enzymes, and antioxidants that help boost your immune system.
Honey's antioxidants help in the fight against free radicals, which can impair your immune system.
Honey also has antiviral and antibacterial qualities that help prevent illnesses.
Because of this, honey becomes an extremely useful ally during the cold and flu season, keeping you healthy so you can enjoy the seasonal delicious foods.
Honey and Warm Drinks - A Comforting Defense Against Winter Illness
Honey is a must-have for holiday health since a spoonful in tea or warm water helps clear your throat and prevent frequent winter illnesses.
Adding honey to a warm glass of lemon water or a traditional cup of herbal tea can improve its calming properties.
Honey's natural enzymes help soothe sore throats, and its antiviral qualities help your body fight off cold viruses.
Have a warm beverage infused with honey first thing in the morning to gently strengthen your immune system.
DIY Honey Remedies - Simple Recipes to Keep Colds at Bay
This holiday season make effective honey-based medicines to stave off colds and the flu with a few simple ingredients. A typical treatment is a mixture of ginger and honey.
Just combine honey and shredded ginger, then let alone for a few hours. When a cold seems like it could come on, take a teaspoon of this combination.
Because of its antimicrobial qualities, honey and cinnamon paste make an additional potent treatment.
To maintain a strong immune system, combine one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon and take it on a regular basis.

Incorporating Honey into Your Holiday Meals
There are endless ways to include honey into your Christmas recipes, from glazes to desserts, to enhance the flavor and strength of your meals.
Try roasted veggies with a honey balsamic drizzle or ham with a honey glaze for a festive touch.
Honey might be the main ingredient in your Christmas treats if you're in the mood for something sweet.
Honey can be used to make honey cakes, cookies, or even just a honey drizzle over fruit or yogurt.
These recipes are delicious, but they also have the extra benefit of honey's ability to strengthen immunity.
Honey for Skin Care - Protecting Your Skin During the Festivities
Not only is honey edible, but it can also be used as a natural moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated and shielded from the cold winter air.
Your skin may become dry and sensitive in the winter. Honey is a great addition to your skincare routine because of its inherent humectant qualities, which help seal in moisture.
How to Prepare;
Applying a small layer of honey to your skin and letting it sit for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing off will make a basic honey face mask. Your skin will feel moisturized, smooth, and ready for the holidays after doing this.
Choosing the Best Honey - What to Look for This Christmas
Discover how to select the highest quality honey so you can maximize its health advantages over the holiday season.
Not all honey is created equal. Look for raw, unfiltered honey when shopping for honey, as it keeps the greatest nutrients and health-promoting enzymes.
Because of its strong antibacterial qualities, Manuka honey is a great option for increasing immunity.
To be sure you are getting the best product possible, always check the label for purity and attempt to get honey from nearby beekeepers.

~kissing them as a bribe to keep them in bed~
Hello Anon! I hope you enjoy this. I did my best after a dry spell. And a demanding cat.
It's not so much he's immune to cold as he's used to it, the bone deep chill of the winters in Kenabras clung onto the skin due to the moisture in the air. Drezen, for all the complaints among his companions, was a dry cold. Nenio had explained to him once that there wasn't a difference, but Lann had simply nodded and decided not to complain within earshot, lest Nenio forget her earlier bone dry lesson on why he was wrong.
Not that Lann was foolish enough not to dress warmly as means of survival. But he knew the slight difference meant everything against his skin.
So, it wasn't the cold that was making getting up harder in the recent weeks.
It was a wonderfully warm body always pressed against his own that made greeting the dawn just a bit more trouble than it was worth. The mongrel noticed that both the tiefling and the aasimar had a tendency to cling when they shared their respective beds with just him but when they were all there were together, Kadira was the one that happened to cling to him while asleep when she was in the middle, her weight warm and soft and her hair spread over his bare chest with her face buried in the scales of his neck while Daeran spooned behind her.
Of the two, Daeran seemed to be the lighter sleeper, so that was a minor blessing from Iomedae in keeping Lann’s routine relatively normal. As normal as possible.
Even when they don't have sex, Lann's head is still making sense of the patterns being established—having someone close by for warmth, for better or worse. Someone warm and comforting. Someone who accidentally kicks or snores. Someone who steals covers. He knows it's common among mongrels to share sleeping piles with siblings, so that might be a tolerance he's only learning just now... but the tolerances almost seem worth it. He's sure it's all a game to Daeran at the end (which oddly makes his heart ache), though Kadee takes it seriously in private (he wishes she would in public).
A new normal, or something torn from him again to remind him of his place in the world.
Those thoughts only come faintly as he begins to shift his legs under the sheets and feather comforter, letting that cool dry air slide over his chest as he begins to push it down his chest and over the suppleness of Kadira's shoulders. And most times he's able to do this without rousing her and tucking her in again.
It could have been brushing his foot against her tail, it could have been sleeping later than normal for him, it could have been anything. But the heavy weight of her head on his chest lifts and he finds himself looking down at her. Her blue eyes are pale with his dark vision, the bleached shadows of her skin making them silver, while her hair is a mess that only magic could solve. Her mouth is lush and kissable and the sleepy sweetness makes Lann’s throat constrict. He quarter hopes she'll smile and settle on him again, and minutes later he'll try escaping her warmth when she’s asleep.
Rather, her thick brows furrow and her tail slides around his calf. "Lann." She says plaintively.
"Good morning." He whispers, mindful of their partner, but his eyes entirely on Kadira.
"Where're you goin'?" She mumbles, falling back to the speech patterns of childhood, her hand grasping for his shoulder.
"The barracks and range, you know that, same as always." He can't resist cupping her face, letting the claw of his left side brush against her lower lip. She responds with a groan and light nip to his thumb.
"No."
"I can't let Seelah be the only one who lifts things around here," Lann explains.
"Stay."  She murmurs, her lips brushing over the line where human and lizard are divided, her tongue playing at the furrows of skin and scale and making him shiver from his head to the tips of his toes. (And to the root of his cock.)
"Kadira." His voice is hoarse, "If I'm not doing my training and don't stay strong, Daeran won't let me live it down. D'you know how unbearable that'll be? We'll never see the end of his smugness."
"You like it," She accuses, her lips ghosting kisses down his chest, her voice a little clearer, the silken fur of her legs shift over his as if to trap him.
"But you'll complain about his smugness too," His protests are weak, because he doesn't want to go, because she asks for so very little.
"Mhm, worth it." Heavy breasts press against his torso as she kisses his human side, lips not quite against his nipple as she shifts her weight. "Please, stay."
"We're going to wake up Daeran," A change in tactics, though he realizes it's a poor decision when the silver-blue eyes look up to him, her sleepy smile impish. "Wait, you'd like that."
"Mhmph." She agrees, thighs straddling his hips while her lips press to his collar bone, then kissing the pulse at his throat, "You would, too. Stay."
His hands cup her face again, the battle lost and he knows it, studying his reward with a tip of his head. Lann still isn't sure why she desires him so, why she turns into something soft, sensual, and kittenish in the privacy of his gaze. But if he's learned anything in the last few weeks as he strokes her cheeks with this thumb to pull her closer for a kiss, he really should stop questioning it.

I'm very interested in your thoughts on foundations and products for gen x skin. How I miss the days of college when I would just tamp on a thick layer of Studio Fix powder (wrong shade, always), use a lip liner (Twig, always) instead of lipstick and then hit the town living my best life looking like a dry crusty ghoul. Being young really mitigated a lot of make up mistakes. Wait I got off track there...
Oh wow, I'm so flattered you sent this ask. I'm so sorry because...
Get ready...here it comes...
Insanely Detailed Make up Skin Care for Gen X skin Info Dump
So this is for typical post menopausal skin, which is my situation, and pretty much blemish free (I do get the occasional blemish when I do something silly like use lip balm or lipstick as a blush because they have the same effect as a cream blush, but often have pore-clogging ingredients), running normal to dry with a light medium complexion.
I'm a huge believer in skin prep before makeup. If you don't have your skin right, your makeup is always gonna look like makeup and it's probably going to age you rather than make you look younger. For over 50 skin it's all about moisture. All those bougie make up branded prep products are really just adding moisture. Get yourself a tube of Vanicream at the drugstore and slap a bunch on before you do your makeup. It works just as good as Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream or the ilk at a fraction of the cost.
Skin care routine:
Micellar water: Removes makeup with gentle/sensitive formula (walgreens has a good knock off of the bougie French one in the pink bottle). I use it on my eyes in the mornings because over night oil and dirt build up in that area and it effects makeup performance. It does not irritate my eyes which are very sensitive.
Second cleanse: I Wash with vanicream bar soap in the evenings. Costs $5 and was recommended by my derm. A bar lasts months and I use it as a regular soap in the bath as well. It's just very gentle and moisturizing. I have stopped needing body lotion in the winter since using it. In the mornings I don't second cleanse because I don't need it. I just splash my face with warm water and head right into the next step.
Paula's Choice perfecting gel (a little easier to use than the liquid and better packaging but pricier). Amazing all around face acid, gentle enough to use twice a day even on my delicate little face. Improves almost every skin issue while adding moisture. The GOAT tbh. There is nothing at the drugstore to compare to it, sadly.
Cereve AM moisturizer with SPF. Another drugstore product. Under $15 and Walgreens has a knockoff that's just as good that's even cheaper. My whole family uses this stuff. It works for everyone really. If you want to have good looking skin into old age stay out of the sun and use sunscreen every day, even when it's cloudy, etc.
Vanicream moisturizer (Tube is under $20 and is huge by skincare standards. I buy maybe two a year and just slather it on in the winter). It has a light consistency that soaks in fast and makes layering it over itself easy. This was the moisturizer rec'd by my derm and honestly it's just so great.
Twice a week I end my night routine with the Paula's choice retinol/moisture barrier repair cream. I don't use it daily because it dries out my skin too much. Retinol helps with a host of skin issues, especially if you have acne scars. This formulation is great because it's very occlusive and makes a great last step before bed. You need to be careful not to wear it in the day though because it can make you sunburn. (Also it won't play well with makeup).
Lips: I love the Paula's choice lip balm with spf. My lips get so destroyed in MN winter between wind and UV. It has a slight tint to it that makes it a bit lighter than my lip color which has a plumping effect. (In general paler colors in the middle of the lip will make your lips look fuller). I also use Boodah lip treatment because it's plastic free and it works really well. You can get an unscented one, but it still smells like coconut oil which I like. (Scents in lip balms actually dry out your lips because they cause inflammation. Many lip balms have ingredients that actually GIVE you chapped lips...Burt's Bees I'm looking at you). Also I totally simp for Cereve healing balm. It comes in a small purse sized tube and it's just great for any irritated, cracked angry skin. It even works on diaper rash. Great stuff.
Foundations:
Most of the time liquid foundations are not recommended for older skin because they tend to be drying because the alcohols they use to let the foundation dry down quickly can be drying. For years I formulated my own bb cream by mixing a liquid foundation like MAC Studio fix with MAC Strobe cream. I've tried loads of BB creams but I feel like they never last on me, unless I powder my whole face, which defeats the purpose, my skin just gobbles them up.
I've tried ultralight foundations like MAC face and body, glossier skin tint but because those products are made to be applied and dry instantly they also have loads of alcohols. They are also just better marketed versions of pro air brush foundations, so if you like this category of products, check out air brush foundations. They are usually way cheaper ounce for ounce...
Kosas Revealer: This is ounce for ounce my most expensive foundation but I had a bottle that lasted me a year. It's the closest in texture to the effect I got from mixing studio fix with strobe cream but it comes in a single package with a pump. Applies best with a damp sponge, but I will use a dense brush when I'm in a hurry (The Real Techniques face perfecting brush is a fantastic drugstore foundation brush). Less is more with this as with all foundation. Do thin layers and build up spots where you need more coverage. (Or add in a color corrector or concealer).
Wayne Goss Cream Foundation: I bought this when it launched and I still have so so much left. I apply dots of it with my fingers and spread it with a brush in a stippling motion. It's a fantastic base for a cream blush. It wears like iron when correctly powdered. This is very similar in formulation to RCMA cream foundation which is what Beyonce uses on stage so you know it's bullet proof. It's just mineral oil base with massive amounts of pigment suspended. (This is really the basis of all pro cream foundations going back to the literal grease paint of victorian times) It should never go off. I think I will bequeath my jar of this foundation to my grandchildren should I ever have any. Also doubles as a concealer. (I wish Wayne would put out smaller/cheaper containers of this stuff. Then I could buy a lighter shade for concealing...). The pigment load in these foundations is so high, I actually don't think they are necessary for every day use. It's more coverage than I really need most of the time. I'm not on TV. Camera Ready Cosmetics sells samples of all their cream foundations, so if you want to dip your toe into this world of products without investing I would go there and try the RCMA or the William Tuttle...
Concealers:
I struggled with every concealer I liked being discontinued for a while. I was paying top $ for Lancome Touche Eclat because all of the drugstore knockoffs I adored disappeared. Liquid concealers should be really thin and have moisturizing ingredients. I think it's standard to say avoid them over 50, but products like the Kosas liquid concealer are very good and don't get that dry, cracked look that shape tape and the ilk does on older skin. I've used the Elf camo concealer and I went through many tubes of Maybelline age rewind over the years, but I'm just over them. There may be some newer drugstore alternatives, but I've been living in Bill Tuttle's blissful world of Hi-lite (see below) now long enough that I've stopped paying attention to new products in this category. I don't even use concealer any more...
Color Correctors:
William Tuttle hi-lite: OMG if you have light medium skin this stuff is utter magic. It masks redness and darkness, blending in with the undertone in my skin without flattening me out or making my face too red. I just can't explain it but it even masks my hyperpigmentation spots that absolutely no foundation will cover and many concealers fail with as well. There used to be a maybelline age rewind product that worked but it disappeared and now they only have the one for under eyes. Hi-lite's original purpose was to cover marionette lines for studio lighting which often makes those lines way worse. And it works great for that too, but it's just so amazing as a corrector/concealer for me.If you have a deeper skin tone with more darkness around your eyes, it may not work, but it worth a try. Tuttle has other similar products in different tints that I haven't tried. The jar is under $15 (Jones Road who?) and I have had it over 6 months and it's not even half gone. (Miracle balm is almost $40 a jar and it smells weird after a few months.) Hi-lite'stexture is perfection. You can do light thin layers and spread it out. It just melts in and disappears. Applies beautifully with a finger but a concealer brush is useful because it fits in the jar better. The brand also has a foundation that is $15 a jar as well. Sold at Camera Ready Cosmetics and some pro/specialty stores. William Tuttle is honestly the find of the last five years for me. If you take nothing else away from this post, check out William Tuttle. I lowkey think Bobbi Brown was using this shit as a makeup artist and one day realized it worked great as an overall concealer/color corrector on older skin and decided to make her own version and market it as miracle balm...
Powder:
Despite what Bobbi Brown says in the Miracle Balm ad, powder is a necessary step and actually your friend if you know how to use it. The main thing is to be strategic with placement and actually learn powdering technique that make up pros use and not what you see on on most of youtube.
Controversial take: I bake my under eyes and you should too. Here's why...
Cream products, which are mostly what we're using here, plus moisturizers/sunscreens are going to move around and settle in lines and actually exaggerate them. In the summer they may look shiny when you sweat which isn't great either. Powder will keep it in place and give you that soft focus/glass skin effect. Powder is also blurring. So it's keeping your concealer from settling in under eye wrinkles, acting like the Photoshop healing brush for you face. Another bonus for baking is that if you leave it on while you do your eyeshadow/liner it will keep fallout from sticking. You'll be able to just brush it away. Baking also lightens the color of the skin in the place where it's done. It started in drag as a technique to make highlights pop from the stage. It is so great in the undereye for this reason. No need to get a brightening concealer with bake...
My technique is I apply an eyeshadow base (really like the NYX ultimate shadow/liner primer) from my under eye to brow. Don't skip the undereye! The reason you need a primer is to create a barrier between your eye skin and the powder. (Eye liners and the heavy pigments in dark eyeshadows will absolutely fuck up the skin around your eyes.) Then I color correct with a thin layer of the Hi-lite, then I powder. I use a powder puff or powder sponge (Real techniques makes an awesome powder sponge) and press in the first thin layer. Then I pile it on with a fluffy eyeshadow brush and leave it. I do my eye makeup and brush it away with the fluffy eye brush or a small powder brush. That's it. If you moisturize and prime adequately it is not going to dry out the skin on your eyes. It's all in the prep.
Don't waste money on fancy powders. I bought a massive bottle of RCMA transluscent powder more than 10 years ago and I still have it. I use it every day. I recently bought the William Tuttle powder just because it was cheap and the container was cute. It has a slight pink cast to it, which is really great for the under eye. Coty airspun which is a drugstore classic is great as well. Maybelline fit me is a fantastic "finishing powder" which means it has a little tint and some micas for glow. I use a finishing powder sometimes instead of basic transluscent powder if I want a little more coverage. If you have a lot of acne scarring a finishing powder will be your friend. Wayne Goss and Mel Thompson (RIP) both have amazing tutorials for buffing/finishing techniques. The Wayne Goss Air brush is a god tier brush for this but the RT perfecting brush works great too and is cheap enough that you can have one for creams and one for powders).
Highlight: MAC Strobe cream, strobe cream, strobe cream. Did I mention strobe cream? How I love thee, bougie upscale scented product. Blurring perfection, added moisture, a beautiful soft focus glow that doesn't look like make-up. Mix it with a liquid and foundation and make a bb cream. Throw it on as a last step for a "no makeup" (lol as if) day. You can use it any step in your routine almost and not fuck things up. It's just so great. I use it daily and a bottle will last years. They will pry my strobe cream from my cold dead, gently sparkling hands.
Honorable mention for the Wayne Goss powder highlight which is such a beautiful soft touch glow that doesn't emphasize texture. Absolutely does not look frosty or powdery. Only downside is you have to also buy a powder blush with it, which is a beautiful product, but it adds to the over size and cost of the product. Fantastic highlight for eye shadow as well though...
Contour/blush: I am a big, big fan of cream products for older skin and there such great cream blushes and contours now. One of the best I've discovered is Phytosurgence Skin Spark in Condensate which is a deep burgundy red that works as a contour and blush. It looks like it would be too dark but when it blends out it just works with the underlying redness in my skin to look so incredibly natural. Sometimes I put it on and blend it out and can't tell where my natural flush ends and the phytosurgence begins. Sigma also makes awesome cream blushes, though pricey, they are huge and last forever. I've had a sigma cream blush for over ten years and it's still going strong. The coral shade looks great on everyone. Especially if you are sick or exhausted a coral blush will make you look healthy and awake. If I were gonna do Joe Biden's makeup, I'd use my Bill Tuttle Hi-Lite and sigma coral blush. He might get re-elected.
Eye Shadow:
Controversial Opinion: I wear sparkly/glittery/mettalic eye shadow over 50 and you should too. Here's why...
Life is short. Have fun while you can.
Charlotte Tilbury, Wayne Goss and Lisa Eldridge have spent a lot of time trying to sell you eyeshadow specifically formulated for older skin and they are amazing. They are also really fucking expensive. Eye shadow is some of the cheapest make-up to produce and the mark up is just coo coo bananas. The difference between $20 a pan eye shadow and $1 a pan eye shadow is the fillers, packaging and marketing. That's it. The main thing to look out for is the way the makeup is pressed and what the kind of sparkles it has in it. You want something that is pressed so that you don't pick up huge amounts of pigment sparkles at a time and get massive fallout which just fucks up the area you've worked so hard to perfect. (Don't get me started on what social media did to eyeshadow formulations to cater to influencers swatching on their arms...). You usually want more pearlescent micas which looks softer, but mettalic eyeshadows give me life and I won't give them up. Some less expensive brands that have good beginner friendly/age friendly formulas are The Balm, Colorpop and Karity. These closely mimic the drugstore formulations of the 80s/early 90s which were pretty low on pigment/micas. (Most drugstore formulations now like Elf or Wet and Wild are too pigmented and fillers are just not great quality so the performance varies).
Another reason for wearing eyeshadow is that it makes you look more trendy and youthful, I think. If you get your undereye sorted, you can make your lids look as textured as dragon scales up close and no one will notice or care in real life. I am huge fan of Pat McGrath and I have three 6 pan palettes and I don't think I'll ever need another PM shadow in my life because they last forever. Not a super beginner friendly formula as it is very pigmented. A little goes a long way with Mother Pat but if you are that person that can't go into Ulta or Sephora without slaying and getting compliments from the staff than Pat McGrath is your friend. You'll never get it too look as amazing as it does on instagram though because that's all in the lighting and using a super good camera lens.
Brushes: Look if you want to do eyeshadow you need brushes. I could do an equally huge info dump just on eye shadow brushes but the most basic kit is three brushes: a bog standard liner brush from anywhere in the world, they sometimes come free with eyeshadow you can even use a water color paint brush which is cheaper but will have a weirdly long handle; a flat paddle fluffy blender like the classic Sigma E27 and a dense round pencil brush like the Sigma E42 blender. Those are synthetic brushes, I prefer natural hair but that's a whole area and those get pricey fast. Sigma brushes are pro quality and they absolutely stand by their shit. I've seen them accept returns at their store without a receipt.
Technique: The best way in my opinion is to start with your darkest color and work to the lighter colors, not the other way around. You don't need transition shades. Most of us have hooded eyes by now and there's no transition zone anyway. That is what transluscent powder and highlighter shades are for! Use your liner brush to apply the darkest shade to your lash line. On the upper lash line extend it past your eyeball upward toward your brow. This will counteract the look of sagging skin at the corner of your eye. On the lower lash line go about a third of the way from the outer corner toward the inner corner and stop. Completely encircling your eyes in dark shades will make them look smaller. Use the pencil brush to blend outward, away from the lashline. You want it diffuse and smokey. Go in with whatever the main shade will be for your lid and you can either apply this with the paddle brush or use your finger for metallic shades. Press lightly and then drag very gently to activate those micas. You will get way better shimmer results with your finger than any brush, I promise. I use my pinky to apply my inner corner highlight. I usually do my brow highlight with a paddle brush. Now flip that paddle brush on it's side so the wide part makes contact with the crease of your eye and blend out the edges. If you've got a good powder/primed base it should blend really easily. That's it. It's like three little steps and I can do a basic eye look in under ten minutes. You've probably heard a lot about "hooded eyes" and needing special brushes, techniques etc., but where you fix hooded eyes is with eyeliner...
Eyeliner:
Controversial Opinion: I wear heavy black eyeliner every day over fifty and you should too. Here's why...
Eyeliner is not only bad ass, it is the biggest bang for your buck in the makeup world. Nothing else is so impactful for the time and money involved. It is also an invaluable tool for reshaping your eyes if you want to look younger...
My favorite eyeliners are pencils that can be sharpened. I have one gel eyeliner I love but pencils are my bread and butter. I have so many and I just keep buying more. They last forever. My oldest piece of makeup is from the last century and it's an eyeliner pencil. Favorite formulations of pencil are: Lancome Creamy water proof, Urban Decay 24/7 and melt. At the drugstore: wet and wild, rimmel kohl, Revlon photo ready kohl and NYX epic wear.
I use Rituel De Fille Black orb gel liner, which I've had for over three years and it hasn't dried up. The key with this is very thin layers because it will get crusty and flake off if you use too much product. It lasts all day, makes a terrific black base and smokes out like butter. Also comes in a spherical jar which is so flipping charming. Love this shit. (Actually really wanna try the new trixie mattel gel liners because they look good and lets face it trixie's entire drag is gel liner based...).
Technique: key technique for older folks is tightlining. I usually tightline my upper water line and the outer third of my lower water line. This emphasizes the eye without getting into issues with sagging skin and makes the lash line fuller which is an area that thins out when you age. The effect is kind of subtle, but the way makeup works is layers and layers of subtle changes. :) Pencils work best, but you can do gel with a good brush. The Wayne Goss #8 has no equal for tightlining. I then tightline the lash line all the way on upper lid and use a pencil brush to smoke it out at the edges. Always blend upward in a straight line toward the tip of your brow. (Beginner tutorials have you hold a tissue there or whatever. I don't think it's necessary, just practice.) If you have very hooded eyes, you may not have any real lid space in which case just skip eyeshadow and tightline. It's all anyone can see when your eyes are open.
Lips:
We are almost done I swear. :D
Not that much difference for ageing but life is too short to buy super cheap lipstick. Any decent drugstore lipstick will run you $10 these days and it's worth it. Bougie designer lipstick is the same shit, in nicer packaging and trendier colors. My favorite formulas are basically all of them but I have a fondness for covergirl, the maybelline matte trance (in the skinnier tube) and revlon anything. A little light colored gloss in the middle of the lip even with no lipstick just takes years off your face, I don't know why. I love the fenty gloss bomb and any of Trixies. Lifter gloss at the drugstore is supposed to be great but I haven't tried it. I'm still finishing that gloss bomb I got when it launched, lol. In general a lighter shade in the middle will make lips look fuller. Lining used to be critical when you get little fine lines around your lips, to prevent lipstick from bleeding but these days lipstick formulas really don't bleed much, I think. A dark "nude" lipliner will make your lips look bigger, but keep it to the outer corners.A MAC lip pencil will probably last you the rest of your life if you don't lose it.
Finishing Spray: Everything I said about liquid foundations using alcohol goes double for finishing spray. It's just different kinds of alcohol with other stuff like micas for shimmer, scent, glycerin and water. No other ingredients are really proven for finishing sprays because there's so much water it's like a homeopathic concentration. I make my own by combing a few tablespoons of whatever finishing spray is cheapest at the drugstore, distilled water and a few drops of glycerin. It helps with that powdered tight feeling and I think it does help it last a bit more. The hardest part about making your own finishing spray is finding a spray bottle you like.
And we are done.
Whew.
That was a lot but it was fun to impart.

Skincare slip-ups to avoid for glowing, healthy skin

7 Skincare Slip-Ups to Avoid for Glowing, Healthy Skin
Achieving radiant, healthy skin is a goal many of us strive for, but sometimes our skincare routines may inadvertently sabotage our efforts. Despite our best intentions, certain skincare habits can lead to dullness, breakouts, and premature aging. To help you navigate the maze of skincare do's and don'ts, here are seven common slip-ups to avoid if you're aiming for that coveted glow.
Skipping Sunscreen: Perhaps the most crucial step in any skincare routine is applying sunscreen. Exposure to harmful UV rays not only increases the risk of skin cancer but also accelerates the aging process, leading to wrinkles, fine lines, and sunspots. Make sunscreen a non-negotiable part of your daily regimen, even on cloudy days or during winter months.
Over-Exfoliating: Exfoliation is essential for removing dead skin cells and promoting cell turnover, but overdoing it can cause irritation and damage to the skin's protective barrier. Limit exfoliation to 2-3 times per week, and opt for gentle exfoliants that won't strip the skin of its natural oils.
Ignoring Moisturization: Hydration is key to maintaining supple, radiant skin. Skipping moisturizer can leave your skin feeling dry, tight, and prone to premature aging. Choose a moisturizer suited to your skin type and apply it morning and night to lock in moisture and keep your skin looking plump and youthful.
Using Harsh Products: Harsh cleansers and skincare products can disrupt the skin's pH balance and strip away its natural oils, leading to irritation, inflammation, and breakouts. Opt for gentle, pH-balanced formulations that cleanse without causing damage or stripping the skin of its protective barrier.
Sleeping with Makeup On: We've all been guilty of crashing into bed after a long day without properly cleansing our faces, but sleeping with makeup on can clog pores, trap bacteria, and contribute to breakouts and dullness. Make it a habit to remove your makeup thoroughly before hitting the sheets to allow your skin to breathe and regenerate overnight.
Neglecting the Neck and Décolletage: While we may lavish attention on our faces, the neck and décolletage often get overlooked in our skincare routines. Neglecting these areas can lead to sagging, crepey skin and give away your age. Extend your skincare regimen to include the neck and chest, applying moisturizer, sunscreen, and anti-aging treatments to keep these areas looking youthful and radiant.
Stressing Out: Last but not least, don't underestimate the impact of stress on your skin. Chronic stress can trigger inflammation, exacerbate skin conditions like acne and eczema, and accelerate the aging process. Practice stress-relief techniques such as meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises to keep your skin—and your mind—healthy and glowing.
Achieving glowing, healthy skin requires more than just slapping on a few skincare products. It's about adopting healthy habits, avoiding common pitfalls, and treating your skin with the care and attention it deserves. By steering clear of these seven skincare slip-ups, you can pave the way for a complexion that radiates health and vitality.

✦2022 beauty favorites✦
Nyahello ヽ(o^▽^o)ノ!! Last year I went through makeup like it was nothing and finally found brands that I really liked and a makeup style to compliment me and my style. It was totally fun and I just love doing my makeup everyday or whenever I have the time. One of the best hobbies I've picked up so far. This is ultimately just going to be a list of my favorite products that I use everyday. I hope it helps if you’ve been having a hard time getting into makeup yourself plus most of these products are stuff you can find at the drugstore which is always a plus.
First I'm going to talk about skin prep because preparing your skin is just as important as using good products. These products work for me but may nor work for you which is totally fine and why you should always find what works for you and incorporate it into your routine.
First is cleanser. I’ve used a lot of cleansers and have a few favorites but my top two are the CeraVe foaming facial cleanser. It's very good at cleansing but doesn’t leave my skin dry and tight afterwards. I also love the dove sensitive skin bar. It's perfect for sensitive skin like mine. I mostly use it in the winter when my skin is the driest.
Next is moisturizer. I've used a couple of these and have my own very specific moisturizing routine. Because my skin gets really dry, I use oil and a moisturizer after I wash my face. I use a mix of coconut oil and shea butter on my face while it's still damp and then go over that with Dove nourishing face, hand, and boy cream. This method looks in moisture and leaves my skin so soft. I recommend this if you get really dry skin in the winter like me.
Next is primer. I've tried so many primers and absolutely love the elf power grip primer and the elf putty primer. The power grip primer is good for when you want your makeup to last all day. This primer is for you. I use it for my special events like prom, school dances and prom. The putty primer is good for everyday use and makes my base look so smooth and amazing.
Now I'm going to talk about base makeup. The perfect base elevates a look from a 3 to a 10.
I start off my base with my foundation. My favorite is the maybelline fit me matte. It's perfect for everyday makeup simple looks but also great for a fully glammed up look. Another one I recently bought and love love love is the fenty pro flit’r matte foundation. It's so good and lasts all day. I highly recommend getting it.
Next is concealer I use the elf camo concealer when i say its matte i mean it. It lasts all day but it does dry down pretty fast so I recommend putting it on one area at a time, blending it in and repeating on the next area.
The i set with the black radiance true complexion setting powder. I highly recommend this to dark skin people since it comes in a wide variety of shades. Honestly I recommend black radiance as a whole because of the shade range and how great all the products are all together.
I don't have a contouring palette i just use the brown eyeshadow out of an eyeshadow palette i was given for christmas a while ago
One staple I always have in my makeup collection is a rainbow palette. It doesn't matter where it's from, just have one with all the colors and you’ll be good. I highly recommend any of the Ucanbe palettes off amazon. They are super bright and pigmented and are so super amazing.
And lastly setting spray. I absolutely adore the M.A.C Prep and Prime Fix+ spray. It's so good for not only setting but also fixing makeup looks. It is a bit on the expensive side so I also recommend the Milani make it last setting spray, it's a great drug store alternative.
That's all for my current faves thanks for reading.

************************
Dieffenbachia is a fast-growing plant that can achieve 2 feet in height within a year of planting a rooted cutting, provided it gets enough light. Though the name "dumb cane" has fallen out of favor as a derogatory term, it got that name because the plant contains toxins in all of its parts (including its roots and sap) that, if it is in contact near the face or ingested, it can inhibit speech. It is highly toxic to humans, dogs, and cats.
Sun Exposure Partial Soil Type Well-drained
Dieffenbachia Care
Dieffenbachia is best grown as an indoor plant in bright, indirect sunlight. Plant it in fertile, well-drained potting soil with a high peat content. As a tropical plant, it will do best in high humidity. One way to provide this is to place the pot on a tray of pebbles filled with water. Misting the leaves can help during the dry winter months.
Like many indoor houseplants, overwatering is a common problem with this plant. Allow the top 2 inches of potting soil to dry out completely before watering thoroughly so that moisture drains through the bottom of the pot. If you wish, lower, weak leaves can be removed as the plant grows, creating a specimen resembling a small palm with an arching canopy.
Light
Dieffenbachia plants are popular indoor plants largely because they do well in shady conditions, but these plants do appreciate bright light during the winter months. During the growing season, the plant prefers dappled shade or indirect light. The plant will favor the side facing the light, so periodically rotate the plant to keep its growth balanced.
Soil
Use a fast-draining, well-aerated potting mix. Make sure drainage is good to avoid damaging the roots; they should never be left in soggy soil.
Water
During the growing season, dieffenbachias like regular moisture and do not want to dry out. A large dieffenbachia might need to be watered twice a week. In the winter, you can cut back on the water. At the same time, it's important not to overwater a dieffenbachia, which can cause rot problems. Make sure the top of the soil is fully dried out before watering.

Achilles/Patroclus | E | Ch. 11/12
This was supposed to be the last chapter, but we're getting an epilogue of sorts 😁 The boys are living their best life on Mt Pelion, when an unexpected guest arrives.
Read on AO3 | Read from the beginning
The weather grows warmer and more temperate the deeper they go into the mountain. Patroclus has to remove his heavy cloak and undo the top laces of his shirt to let the cool breeze touch his skin. Achilles walks swiftly behind Chiron, his footsteps light and careful on the soft green earth.
The birds, concealed by thick foliage, are chirping merrily, and insects buzz incessantly around them. The flowering bushes they pass by give off sweet, summery scents, and the bright yellow backs of bumblebees peek through the folds of colourful blossoms. The sky above them is the clearest, most vibrant blue, and sunshine reflects on the dew drops resting on the blades of grass.
Patroclus can’t remember ever seeing so much colour in his life; even in the heart of spring, Phthia’s skies are often dull and cloudy, and the short reprieve the trees and flowers get from the long winter isn’t enough to bring out their colours. But here it’s like the whole world is blossoming right before his eyes.
It is a steady climb, and Patroclus is sweating quite a bit beneath his collar when Chiron finally stops. They’re in a small clearing, close to an outcrop of the rock. The mouth of a cave stands not very far away; outside it there is a small pen with baby goats, a line with swaths of leather left out in the sun to dry, a small basin of clear water where birds are splashing in, fluttering their wings.
Chiron’s glade . For years ever since Achilles left, Patroclus has tried to imagine it: the lush forest, the brilliant sunshine, the evergreen trees. He has tried to imagine how Achilles spent his days, how he trained, where he slept and ate and practised his sword-work. Now, he is here, and he can scarcely believe it.
Achilles beside him is flushed from their trek and glowing. He seems to belong here as naturally as the birds and flowers do. Chiron leads them to the cave and holds the leather flaps open for them to get in.
It is bigger than Patroclus expected, looking at it from the outside. The ceiling is dark above them, and the curved walls glisten with moisture. Leather cushions and furs are placed along the length of the wall, and the centaur gestures for them to sit. He walks to the far end of the cave, then comes back with two cups filled with goat’s milk, cheese, dried nuts and fruit, and a small loaf that looks like bread. When Patroclus brings the cup to his lips, he realises it has been sweetened with a drop of honey.
Achilles seems perfectly at ease here. He sits comfortably on the cushions, spreading his legs before him, and greedily drinks the milk that Chiron offered them. He tears a piece of the tough and chewy nut bread and gives it to Patroclus, then tears one for himself. The centaur has sat down on the floor opposite them, his horse legs folded underneath him.
“How is Tawny?” Achilles asks. “Did she miss me?”
The centaur smiles. “For a day or two, yes. Then she found some delicious bark off a maple tree to occupy her. She is doing well.”
“And what about Lurcher? Has the injury on his leg mended fully?”
“That one has healed. But he did manage to get another, smaller one, on his head. Can never sit still, that one.”
“I should go check on him later.”
It takes Patroclus a moment to understand they’re talking about Chiron’s herd of goats, the injured and orphaned ones he keeps in the pen, as well as the wild goats that roam the mountain and only occasionally show up at the glade when they’re injured or seeking for a safe place to birth their young. Achilles’ face lights up as he talks with the centaur about the daily concerns and tasks of the place he has called home for the last few years; it is obvious that he has missed it.
