I'm at the salon, and was inspired to give you this tip since y'all seem interested in hair a lot here.
If you have a Black Hijabi character:
1) Yes, some do go to salons to get their hair done!
2) Yes, they DO get styles and color! Just because YOU can't see their hair doesn't mean they can't! They will employ the same techniques as anyone else for the styles that they want, and the texture that they have!
3) Any salon worth a damn will have privacy panels or screens for them to remove their hijabs comfortably! Stylists will move these panels so that no one else can see their customer's hair throughout the store. This indicates a level of trust between customer and stylist. This is not going to be a choice made lightly, and proper respect needs to be shown.
Before I sleep, here's some fluff, high school puppy love with Levi:
The summer air was thick and hot. The sun was merciless, beaming bright and warm in the cloudless sky. The wind brought nothing but dry air that made your eyes watery.
Hiding in your room with the air conditioner blasting at highest, you were dying Levi's hair. Levi was sitting topless on the floor with a piece of plastic draped over his shoulders. He had chosen to dye his beautiful black hair green. You tried to talk him out of it, but he refused to listen.
"It's our senior year, I want to be different for once." Being a supportive partner, you nodded and offered to dye his hair for him.
So here you were, in your tank top and shorts, kneeling behind him as you carefully pour a small scoop of dye onto his head. With your gloved hands, you massaged the dye in. You run your fingers into his scalp, getting the dye into the roots.
Levi sat with his eyes closed, enjoying the feeling of your fingers running through his head. You slowly moved toward his face, dying parts by parts. When you reached the hair on his forehead, Levi muttered, "don't dye my eyebrows."
You giggled, "opps, i just did." You mirrored each other's grinning faces.
Once you did one around and got to the back of his head, you checked if you had applied the dye evenly. Gently moving his head left to right, you were sure you got the hair behind his ears. You pulled his head up, checking the hair in front.
Levi opened his eyes and you stared into his greyish blue eyes. You locked eyes for a moment and it felt like time has stopped. Just two young lovers sitting in a cold room, you thighs touching his warm back, and his eyes reflecting yours. No words were said but you knew the love was there for sure.
"Did you get every hair?" Levi asked.
You nodded, "yea, every single one. Let it sit for half an hour."
Levi reached for his phone and put a timer on. You walked toward your mirror at the other end of the room and started dying the tips of your hair too.
Levi's eyes widened in shock. "What are you doing?"
"It's our senior year, I want to be different too." You smiled at him.
Okay, question for you- is Eloise’s hair tied at the end and curly, or in a ponytail and curly, or is there no tie and I’m just blind?
I was going to answer this quickly but I am EXTRA & had to do a write-up of her hair (sorry🙏)
First, she normally does wear her hair in a braid!💓 I do NOT know how to draw braids nor do I want to learn, so I do my weird way that looks terrible and I really should spend like 30 min researching😔🙏
When I remember, I like to add the bow but I forget a lot🥲
Her hair is CRAZY and thick, and has been the bane of her existence her whole life. I’m just channeling her inner Black (she is like a great-aunt or something of Sirius and Bellatrix) so OBVIOUSLY i had to give her amazing hair.
Since she is a Proper Young Victorian Lady™️ who spent the last 5 years at a muggle finishing school, she NEVER wears her hair down, and felt scandalized the first weeks at Hogwarts, seeing girls her age wearing TROUSERS😨 and having their hair DOWN😳 and although she’s used to it now, she still feels uncomfortable thinking of herself doing it.
Sebastian daydreams about it all the time though😇🙏
Some quick doodles I sketched up for this así.
1) her crazy hair when it’s down💓🫶
2) Imelda LOVES doing Eloise’s hair. She’s never really had girl friends before, and the ritual of gossiping/doing hair/hanging out reminds Imelda of her childhood bc her mom used to do her hair and tell stories🥹🥹 and Eloise has NEVER had friends before OR the experience with her own (awful) mother so she LOVES IT TOO💓💓💓 (Imelda teaches her Spanish some nights)
