so I had a Big Brain Moment...
Tumblr media
had this been done? I don't think it has
there's so much more I couldn't fit. so much more. feel free to expand on this (or make it look better)
other things:
since avatar is based off of Asian culture technically zuko also helped save China
all could be seen as an lgbt allegory
mulan and zuko both fighting for their honor (why didn't I think of that sooner, it's so obvious!)
atla had the kyoshi warriors and mulan fought with a fan
atla and mulan both had a strong woman having men to do drag
all have fairly recognizable voices
all at some point had talking animals (mushu, aang's sleep deprivation hallucinations scene)
zuko and mulan both had pivotal hair cutting scenes
all of them being physically different than others in some way (po being the only panda at first and being made fun of for being fat, mulan being a woman warrior, zuko and his scar) (this along with other things fits into the lgbt allegory idea)
badass old men (iroh and bumi, oogway and shifu, the emperor)
po and mulan both meet flower symbolism (the peach tree vs the cherry blossom tree)
atla and kung-fu panda both have turtles/tortoises as wise figures
mulan and zuko both wear badass clothes
all underdogs who eventually earn the respect of pretty much everyone in their stories
zuko and po both being the comic relief at some point
zuko and po both joining an already well-established team and feeling left out at first (the gaang, the furious five)
shifu and iroh both essentially losing a son but in wildly different ways
lotus symbolism (po's birth name being little lotus, iroh's white lotus group, again the flower blooming quote for mulan)
mulan and po being bowed to by someone higher up than them (the emperor, shifu)

a 2000s classical romance.

rose | heeseung
heeseung loved going on picnics in general; it was comforting to bask in the refreshing breeze, to be interlocking hands under the streams of light.
an absolute staple piece of picnics would have to be a gingham cloth— heeseung personally liked the classic red-white checkered one.
cloth spread over the grass, a little picnic basket, and a homemade set of sandwiches, packed with all your favourite ingredients.
to gaze at the clouds above, though half-squinting from the flaming tendrils of sunlight, and to identify strange shapes together.
“i see a tortoise wearing a sun hat.. over there. that’s the shell, that’s the hat, and those are the legs.”
taking pictures with a small film camera.
passionately posing for the photo— bunny ears, a cheek poke, impromptu glasses; he’s got everything!
interlocking hands whilst watching the others fly their kites against the wind, the mirage of colours painting the blank canvas of sky.
carnation | jongseong
it was routinely to go camping at least thrice a month— not the extravagant kind, just a simple set-up consisting of a cheap tent and two retractable chairs.
jay would always bring along his guitar, the one he treasured dearly; he continued to pick up the instrument after hearing of your love for music.
setting up a small campfire, one sufficient enough to roast marshmallows under the starry night, and sitting cozily beside the warmth.
the strumming of the guitar by the campfire, paired with the softened crackling of the burning kindling was an absolute masterpiece in itself.
eyes filled with admiration and love, watching jay tune the guitar.
locked gazes filled with tenderness, a knowing smile creeping onto your lips as a familiar melody is elicited.
softly singing the lyrics of the song— specifically the song that jay had composed for you as an anniversary gift.
making s’mores and playfully making it into a competition of ‘the s’more showdown’.
kissing under the stars.
kisses that travel from the other’s forehead to their cheeks to their lips.
listening attentively as the other rants about life— about the recent happenings, about their joys, about their worries.
laying on the makeshift sleeping bag, a thumb gently rubbing your cheek, noses touching as jay quietly mumbles an, “i love you.”
tulips | jaeyun
perhaps jake was the clumsiest romantic that you’ve ever met— yet you couldn’t help but to grin in adoration from his acts.
for instance, after an exhausting week, you’d intend to confide in jake through text, only to find him standing outside the apartment block in the middle of the night, enthusiastically waving his hand, a bouquet of flowers in the other.
and you’d even catch him fumble at times, unsure of how to express his love for you— he would almost drop the flowers…
occasional head pats because he loves to take advantage of his height.
absolutely loves giving you piggyback rides ! it’d present a great opportunity to have a light-hearted conversation with you, often times about silly topics.
kissing him goodbye after he drops you off at your house.
a gentle hug, his hands resting at your waist, a kiss planted on your forehead.
“ you're warm, i don't want to let you go.”
gardenia | sunghoon
going on walks together because sunghoon adores your love for nature and the likes.
walking along the pathway, viewing the breathtaking scenery of cherry blossoms, flourishing during the peak seasons.
him lovingly picking off a small blossom that lands on your hair, and feeling a tingly sensation spread throughout his body when he sees you grin at the simple gesture, petals gently falling down from neighbouring trees.
sunghoon having to bend down for you to brush away a stray strand of hair, hands cupping his face to peck his lips.
“why’re you staring at me?”
“i’m not staring at you, i’m simply just hypnotised by your beauty.”
“OMHDGDGS SHUSH—“
him having a habit of tracing the message “i love you” on your bare skin with his finger when he believes you’re asleep.
silly slow dancing in the living room with pyjamas still on, a youtube video titled ‘romantic music’ playing on the speakers.
daffodil | seonwoo
being fully aware of your packed schedule, sunoo would always offer you his shoulder to lean on, especially when he sees you visibly expressing your exhaustion.
would unclasp and untie any hair ties, accessories or clips on your hair when you’ve fallen asleep— last thing he’d want is for you to feel uncomfortable, and to wake up with an agonising headache.
draping his outerwear— a hoodie, a jacket, or even the cardigan that you made for him— over your shoulders, just to giggle at how the cloth engulfed your build.
“stop laughing at me.”
“i’m sorry, love. you’re so endearing.”
occasionally stays up with you when you’re doing work because he likes making you a warm drink.
shy kisses where sunoo would nuzzle his face into the crook of your neck, the tips of his ears reddening.
him resting his chin on your head as you both engulf the other in a hug.
peony | jungwon
having little moments where you two just find comfort in each other’s presence.
standing side by side in the bathroom, a smidgin of toothpaste foam lining your lips, giggles being suppressed.
smiling against a kiss, but it ends up in you two pulling away because neither of you can stop grinning.
jungwon knowing your tickle spots and randomly tickling you, causing you to burst out into an uncontrollable fit of laughter; he only fondly looks at you, grinning at how adorable your hysterical laughs sound to him.
leaving quick kisses on his cheek before parting ways, but he pulls your hand to hold you closer to his embrace, preventing you from escaping.
him making it a point to always pinky promise to everything, because it would be easier to intertwine fingers that way.
“i love us.”
lily | riki
him staying up past his usual bedtime to keep you company, and he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting for you to finish whatever work you have left.
but he’s absolutely drained and is gradually nodding off, leading to you tucking him into bed, all exhaustion and stress disappearing as you do so, a small smile magically appearing.
him always being there when you experiment with new things.
slowly guiding you on how to do new activities, and he just can’t stop smiling when in your presence.
“how are you smiling so hard right now? i’ve almost just lost your streak.”
“i don’t know, i just find myself a little bit more happy when i’m with you.”
would voluntarily tie your shoelaces when he notices them flying around.
makes you cute care baskets when you’re sick— snacks, chocolates, teddy bears, flowers? he’s got them all!

New Maiko in Gifu! On 3rd December 2023, Kikyo 喜きょう debuted from Hosengiren. From now until 31rd December, there are five Maiko in Gifu prefecture, the highest number since 2016 (two in Gifu at Hôsengiren, two in Gifu with the Geigi Union, one in Gero Onsen). Her Hikizuri is patterned with pine trees (matsu 松), bamboo leaves (take 竹), tortoise shell pattern (hanairi kikkô 花入亀甲) and abstract clouds (kumodori 雲取). Smaller motifs you can see are Chrysanthemum blossoms (kiku 菊), Orange fruits (tachibana 橘), Plum blossoms (ume 梅), and few others I couldn't identify.

Wind Breaker Episode 8 Review - The Cherry Blossom Tree Crashes Down On The Tortoise
I feel like the quality of these fights upgrade each episode. The Sugishita fight was cool; the Suo fight was great; the Hiiragi vs Sako fight was awesome. My verdict for Sakura vs Togame? Probably the best of the fights once Togame got serious. It was seriously amazing. From what I’m seeing from Umemiya vs Choji, it’s probably going to be even better next episode! I honestly can’t wait for Umemiya to humble Choji.
Tumblr media
What I think the charm of Wind Breaker is the fact that it’s not just a delinquent story with constant fist-fighting. It’s a story about people and their relationships. It’s how to form connections with others. That’s what Sakura is taking in as the story progresses. He’s a loner but a strong fighter. However, what he lacks is the ability to form connections with others. That’s why Umemiya told him that fighting is like communicating. Fortunately, Sakura’s fists are able to “communicate” with Togame and that’s why he got serious once Sakura talked smack about him. It’s why Togame finally calls him by his name and not Othello-kun. He was able to help Togame realize that what he needed was to talk some sense into Choji when he had gone astray. This was why he purposely lost to Sakura despite being stronger. He finally realized that the way Shishitoren is won’t change anything for Choji. Man, all this depth about Togame is seriously making him rise into a Top 3 character for me.
The animation of the fight between Sakura and Togame was FIRE! I love how different their fighting styles are yet it still matched well in the fight. Sakura is fast, flexible and agile. His fighting style feels like it’s mixed with gymnastics in a way as he flips likes a gymnast? Togame’s style focuses more on grabbing his opponent and attacking them with full force. Though, I’m not a martial arts expert, so I’m just assuming. People who watch this episode might be upset that Sakura won, but remember that this is NOT a tournament arc. It’s just a turf dispute and that the fight that only matters is the bosses’. Sakura didn’t even win fairly as Togame gave up. If you look at it from a different perspective, Togame lost on purpose because Sakura played therapist for him and it worked in a way.
Now the anticipated fight with the bosses is finally here. The main therapist Umemiya is gonna whoop Choji’s ass for good. Both bosses have totally different views. Choji is bored and seeks to overtake Bofurin because he believes it will ease his boredom. It’ll also be proof that he’d be the strongest and the freest. Another reason he desires Bofurin is that they have strong members. This fight between the two rival gangs is to show the difference in power. Shishitoren boasts about powers, but they’re weak internally. Bofurin is a humble gang. However, given how Choji behaved once he became head of Shishitoren shows that he’s a fickle person at heart. If he takes over Bofurin, there will be a day that he’d get bored of them, repeat the same process that he did with Shishitoren and then move onto the next strongest group. His old habits will come back to him if he desires other groups. That’s why he’s a very good contrast to Umemiya. Choji is selfish and only cares about himself. Umemiya is selfless and caring. That’s why Bofurin is strong because he’s reliable and dependable. It’s obvious that Choji is going to lose because of this.
The fight between the two is as well animated as the previous fight. If you thought Sakura was agile, Choji is even more agile. Unlike Sakura’s gymnastics style of fighting, Choji is like acrobatics in a way? He jumps around and does flips crazier than Sakura’s. Since he’s petite, he uses his height to his advantage by climbing on top of tall opponents to confuse them. He has a very jumpy style, befitting his surname Tomiyama, which translates to Rabbit Ear Mountain. Umemiya’s fighting style hasn’t been shown much here, but his fist is scary enough to cause Choji to have a nosebleed. I know that he’s gonna be the main star in the next episode and I can’t wait to see Umemiya in full action.
I’ve seen some reviewers call Choji a little boy and I find it amusing. He is a kid, but not the age you think he is. He’s just a short teenager. He’s 5’2”/158 cm in height. His age? He’s 17. What’s even crazier is that Togame is also 17 years old. What are your thoughts on the outcome of the Sakura vs Togame fight and what are your thoughts on the glimpse of Umemiya vs Choji?

Of course Dan's post will hit us even harder, because so far Phil's been a quiet cool cucumber on their relationship and Dan has been going on about 6000 year old tortoises and phivorce etc. etc.
phil be like here is a pic of me and some guy at a temple :) we had a fun ice cream! cut to dan gazing at falling cherry blossoms in a koi pond and lamenting on the inevitability of death and love and hate and destiny and seasonal changes

What Idiots Lovers Are
You meet a man
As tall as a redwood
As sly as a garrulous blue jay
As patient as a rising-horse.
You’re scalding, your love’s boiling
Over- it surely is but
Only sometimes. He’s the same,
Boiling-
Same cauldron of
Frangipani blossoms and toads
- the distance between the two idiots narrows
To Achilles tortoise. What
A puffing. And
Then it stops- they
Look down between their
Toes, mingled- and each stands
Wobbling on opposite sides.
What immense landscapes, canyons,
Chasms, torrents pour between
These ten and ten toes.
Too great- the vertigo
Is insufferable, the lovers cling, lean
Clasp like a church steeple, harder
And harder the cement, the
Tongue and groove, the pebble and dash
-the vane cock dances in every
Possible quarter, reconciliations,
Rebirths. The pit underneath splits
The great tower
In the end, how can it not?
Helter skelter
You see the redwood heave and totter
The smashed jay feathers, the
Horse hoof over ear,
The lot curl so slowly down
As if air could hold fancies
And their lovers up forever,
Ball-eyed, clamped, grooved.
Pit-props - that’s what
They make. Idiots of lovers
Trying out edifices.

Maura read a lot. The television was locked up in the visitor's longue room, and mostly they were documentaries they watched as a family. The occasionally Katherine Hepburn. Tall. Brash. Cuttingly sharp. Maura loved Sunday afternoons on days it was too rainy to take the horses or the boats out. Just her and Katherine Hepburn.
She read the books her mother gave her. Books from another country, from another time. A world which the war had shaken. A lot of them were terribly outdated. Where only the boys got to have any fun and the girls were left alone to - what, bake? Clean? Sew? She gave up on those. She loved George Kirrin fiercely. The illustrations in the books always portrayed her as a little prettier than Maura liked to imagine her; in her mind she gave her thick brows, a strong jaw. The kind of face that would make a stranger falter for their pronouns before addressing her. And she was fearless and devoted to her friends and her beloved Timmy, of course. Maura loved Bass, but she wouldn't face a man with a gun if he were in imminent danger. No one would shoot a tortoise anyway.
She saw herself as more of an Anne, just dragged along for the ride, often terrified and completely impotent. Maura did martial arts, and horseriding, gymnastics and fencing. She could play the violin but she didn't like to. She could take care of herself. But poor little Anne was always getting dragged into dangerous situations. No one listened to her voice of reason. And if the villains they'd faced had been a different sort, the sort that rarely featured in kids books, she'd have been the most at risk. George herself was protective, but the two brothers should have been ashamed of themselves.
Still, she read all twenty one books in the series, and she longed for the salt of the sea, the wind on her face bicycling through the countryside, the sound of laughter on a summer morning.
She longed for friendship.
She tried Nancy Drew, but she found them a little too simplistic, a little too rushed. A list of things that happened with no tension building to make the reader concerned for Nancy or her friends. Another female George who was boyish, though. Smart and sporty, easily able to tackle criminals.
And the Trixie and Honey in upstate New York. So close to home, and yet so far. A spoiled rich girl, an only child. Rich and awkward. And the rambunctious neighbour girl, who thought her strange but didn't let that bother her for a single moment, didn't deter her from making the best friend either of them could ever have. The sleepovers. The sharing of clothes and food, riding through the woods. She could almost smell the pine. She could see how Trixie noticed how vulnerable and scared Honey was and how she tried - in her own clumsy way - to make her feel safe and welcome. And Honey was so sensible and feminine and Trixie was all scraped knees and skinned knuckles and Maura wanted that. She wanted a Trixie. She wanted someone to tell her she was okay as she was, someone who saw her and knew she was enough.
But no matter how long she hung out in the woods by herself, no one ever came. Her parents' estate was too large, and her parents' friends didn't have children, or had ones much older than her that babied her.
But it was the boarding schools that got her in the end. She read hungrily about midnight feasts and swimming competitions and school pantomimes. She read about stolid, stable Darrell Rivers, headstrong and certain of herself. And by her side, Sally Hope, less certain, a little resentful, not as nice in the first books but blossoming into a fine young lady by the end. At her best friend's side. All the little interactions that young women had - all the spiteful little tricks, all the jabs and jeers and exclusions. It helped her to understand a little the social quagmire of her schooling days. She'd not been a success, at school. Academically she was very gifted. But socially she suffered. She chose Paris because she felt like her foibles might be seen as exotic, and she gave her parents the brochures.
But it was fruitless. While she wasn't bullied at boarding school - she was too smart to be openly derided, and she would do anyone's homework if they sat with her, but also even with all her studies on human behaviour she rarely noticed when someone tried to insult her - she never did find her Darrell Rivers. Her bosom friend, her companion. She gave up, after that. Adults had acquaintances, not friends. She threw herself into her studies and took the jobs offered her.
And then someone tall and dark with strong brows and a firm jaw was calling her 'sista' and Maura knew she'd been slighted. But a few months later the detective had bounced into her morgue, looking over the body. At least she didn't vomit, like some of them. It was fortunate Maura, despite being a super taster, didn't mind most smells. But Jane had come in, her curly hair tied back, business shirt and slacks. And she grinned at Maura, her smile cheeky and knowing, like she knew her, like they were friends already. And it was like if Katherine Hepburn had been a detective. It was like George Kirrin grown up and taking on the world with her quick brain and quicker smile. It was George Frayne on horseback, reaching her hand down to a damsel in distress. It was like Trixie Belden had stumbled through the woods to her mansion and stood outside waiting to play. It was like Darrell Rivers with her hot temper but warm nature had come to life from a book and seen her Sally Hope.
+++
"I don't know who any of them are," Jane said when Maura told her this, years later, curled up on the couch together. "Well, I read some Nancy Drew but she was a bit of a wimp in the early books. Trixie - she was the one - oh yeah, I liked those! She was always running through the woods and filthy. She was great! And you think of me as her?"
"Remember when you tackled a Federal Agent in a creek?" Maura asked, laughing.
Jane chuckled and pulled Maura closer.
"The point is, I always read about women having close friendships. About women like you - strong and masculine, protective and loyal. And their useless little sidekicks."
"Here's one for you then. Xena and Gabrielle. Gabby wasn't useless though. She had spunk, and she could fight too. You're not a useless sidekick, Maura. You're a fierce warrior in your own right."
Maura crinkled her brow as though she was trying to remember.
"I've seen your DVD boxset, Maura." Maura blushed; her roommate in college had watched the show religiously, and Maura had too, loving the dynamic of the women. The tall, strong brunette. The short, smart blonde. Visually striking together, perfectly suited. The way they were so protective of each other. So thoroughly loyal.
"They - they weren't just friends though." Maura had kind of known at the time, but as more years passed she saw how blatant it had been.
"Are we just friends?" Jane's voice dropped, and Maura looked up sharply at her.
"We're friends. Aren't we?" Maura looked terrified for a moment and Jane reached out to reassure her.
"We are," Jane said, rubbing her hand over Maura's shoulder. "But we could be more, couldn't we?"
"That's up to you," Maura said uncertainly, and like headstrong Darrell Rivers, like impetuous Trixie Belden or crusading Xena, Jane leaned in and kissed Maura.
And Maura knew what female friendship was about. She had female friends now; Nina and Susie and Angela. People who knew who she was and liked her.
But a bosom friend was a friend that touched your bosom. And that was Jane, all over.

THE ROSE-BEAUTY
@faintingheroine @princesssarisa @tamisdava2 @themousefromfantasyland @professorlehnsherr-almashy @softlytowardthesun @grimoireoffolkloreandfairytales @shelleythesapphic
(Turkish Folktale)
Once upon a time in the old old days when straws were sieves, and the camel a chapman, and the mouse a barber, and the cuckoo a tailor, and the donkey ran errands, and the tortoise baked bread, and I was only fifteen years old, but my father rocked my cradle, and there was a miller in the land who had a black cat in those olden times, I say, there was a King who had three daughters, and the first daughter was forty, and the second was thirty, and the third was twenty. One day the youngest daughter wrote this letter to her father:
"My lord father ! My eldest sister is forty and my second sister is thirty, and still thou hast given neither of them a husband, I have no desire to grow grey in waiting for a husband." The King read the letter, sent for his three daughters, and addressed them in these words :
"Look now! Let each one of you shoot an arrow from a bow and seek her sweetheart wherever her arrow falls! "
So the three damsels took their bows. The eldest damsel's arrow fell into the palace of the Vizier's son, so the Vizier's son took her to wife. The second girl's arrow flew into the palace of the Chief Mufti's son, so they gave her to him. The third damsel also fired her arrow, and lo! it stuck in the hut of a poor young labourer.
"That won't do, that won't do I " cried they all.
So she fired again, and again the arrow stuck in the hut. She aimed a third time, and a third time the arrow stuck in the hut of the poor young labourer.
Then the King was wroth and cried to the damsel :
"Look now, thou slut ! thou hast got thy deserts. Thy sisters waited patiently, and therefore they have got their hearts' desires. Thou wast the youngest of all, yet didst thou write me that saucy letter, hence thy punishment. Out of my sight, thou slave-girl, to this husband of thine, and thou shalt have nought but what he can give thee!"
So the poor damsel departed to the hut of the labourer, and they gave her to him for wife. They lived together for a time, and on the tenth day of the ninth month the time came that she should bear a child, and her husband, the labourer, hastened away for the midwife. While the husband was thus away his wife had neither a bed to lie down upon nor a fire to warm herself by, though grinding winter was upon them. All at once the walls of the poor hut opened hither and thither, and three beautiful damsels of the Peri race stepped into it.
One stood at the damsel's head, another at her feet, the third by her side, and they all seemed to know their business well.
In a moment every thing in the poor hut was in order, the princess lay on a beautiful soft couch, and before she could blink her eyes a pretty little new-born baby girl was lying by her side.
When everything was finished the three Peris set about going, but first of all they approached the bed one by one, and the first said: "Rosa be thy damsel's name, and she shall weep not tears but pearls!" The second Peri approached the bed and said: "Rosa be thy damsel's name, the rose shall blossom when she smiles!" And the third Peri wound up with these words: "Rosa be thy damsel's name, sweet verdure in her footsteps spring!" whereupon they all three disappeared. Now all this time the husband was seeking a midwife, but could find one nowhere.
What could he do but go home ? But when he got back he was amazed to find everything in the' poor hut in beautiful order, and his wife lying on a splendid bed.
Then she told him the story of the three Peris, and there was no more spirit left in him, so astounded was he. But the little girl grew more and more lovely from hour to day, and from day to week, so that there was not another like her in the whole world. Whosoever looked upon her lost his heart at once, and pearls fell from her eyes when she wept, roses burst into bloom when she smiled, and a bright riband of fresh green verdure followed her footsteps. Whoever saw her had no more spirit left in him, and the fame of lovely Rosa went from mouth to mouth. At last the King of that land also heard of the damsel, and instantly made up his mind that she and nobody else should be his son's consort.
So he sent for his son, and told him that there was a damsel in the town of so rare a beauty that pearls fell from her eyes when she wept, roses burst into bloom when she smiled, and the earth grew fresh and green beneath her footsteps, and with that he bade him up and woo her.
Now the Peris had for a long time shown the King's son the beautiful Rose-damsel in his dreams, and the sweet fire of love already burned within him ; but he was ashamed to let his father see this, so he hung back a little. At this his father became more and more pressing, bade him go and woo her at once, and commanded the chief dame of the palace to accompany him to the hut of the labourer. They entered the hut, said on what errand they came, and claimed the damsel for the King's son in the name of Allah. The poor folks rejoiced at their good luck, promised the girl, and began to make ready. Now this palace dame's daughter was also a beauty, and not unlike Rosa. Terribly distressed was the dame that the King's son should take to wife a poor labourer's daughter, instead of her own child ; so she made up her mind to deceive them and put her own daughter in Rosa's place. So on the day of the banquet she made the poor girl eat many salted meats, and then brought a pitcher of water and a large basket, got into the bridal coach with Rosa and her own daughter, and set out for the palace.
As they were on the road (and a very long time they were about it) the damsel grew thirsty and asked the palace dame for some water.
"Not till thou hast given me one of thine eyes," said the palace dame. What could the poor damsel do ?—she was dying with thirst. So she cut out one of her eyes and gave it for a drink of water. They went on and on, further and further, and the damsel again became thirsty and asked for another drink of water.
"Thou shalt have it if thou give me thy other eye," said the palace dame.
And the poor damsel was so tormented with thirst that she gave the other eye for a drink of water. The old dame took the two eyes, pitched the sightless damsel into the big basket, and left her all alone on the top of a mountain.
But the beautiful bridal robe she put upon her own daughter, brought her to the King's son, and gave her to him with the words: "Behold thy wife!"
So they made a great banquet, and when they had brought the damsel to her bridegroom and taken off her veil, he perceived that the damsel who now stood before him was not the damsel of his dreams.
As, however, she resembled her a little he said nothing about it to anybody. So they lay down to rest, and when they rose up again early next morning the King's son was quite undeceived, for the damsel of his dreams had wept pearls, smiled roses, and sweet green herbs had grown up in her footsteps, but this girl had neither roses nor pearls nor green herbs to show for herself. The youth felt there was some trickery at work here. This was not the girl he had meant to have.
"How am I to find it all out?" thought he to himself ; but not a word did he say to any one. While all these things were going on in the palace, poor Rosa was weeping on the mountain top, and such showers of pearls fell from her by dint of her sore weeping that there was scarce room to hold them all in the big basket.
Now a mud-carrier happened to be passing by who was carting mud away, and hearing the weeping of the damsel was terribly afraid, and cried : "Who art thou ?—A Jinn or a Peri?" — "I am neither a Jinn nor yet a Peri," replied the damsel, " but the remains of a living child of man." Whereupon the mud-raker took courage, opened the basket, and there a poor sightless damsel was sobbing, and her tears fell from her in showers of pearls. So he took the damsel by the hand and led her to his hut, and as the old man had nobody about him he adopted the damsel as if she were his own child and took care of her.
But the poor girl did nothing but weep for her two eyes, and the old man had all he could do to pick up the pearls, and whenever they were in want of money he would take a pearl and sell it, and they lived on whatever he got for it.
Thus time passed, and there was mirth in the palace, and misery in the hut of the mud-raker. Now it chanced one day as fair Rosa was sitting in the hut, that something made her smile, and immediately a rose bloomed.
Then the damsel said to her foster-father, the mud-raker :
"Take this rose, papa, and go with it in front of the palace of the King's son, and cry aloud that thou hast roses for sale that are not to be matched in the wide world. But if the dame of the palace comes out, see that thou dost not give her the rose for money, but say that thou wilt sell it for a human eye." So the man took the rose and stood in front of the palace, and began to cry aloud :
"A rose for sale, a rose for sale, the like of which is nowhere to be found."
Now it was not the season for roses, so when the dame of the palace heard the man crying a rose for sale, she thought to herself :
"I'll put it in my daughter's hair, and thus the King's son will think that she is his true bride."
So she called the poor man to her, and asked him what he would sell the rose for ?
"For nothing," replied the man, " for no money told down, but I'll give it thee for a human eye." Then the dame of the palace brought forth one of fair Rosa's eyes and gave it for the rose. Then she took it to her daughter, plaited it in her hair, and when the King's son saw the rose, he thought of the Peri of his dreams, but could not understand whither she had gone. Nevertheless he now fancied he was about to find out, so he said not a word to any one.
Meanwhile, the old man went home with the eye and gave it to the damsel, fair Rosa. Then she fitted it in its right place, sighed from her heart in prayer to Allah, who can do all things ; and behold ! she could see right well again with her one eye.
The poor girl was so pleased that she could not help smiling, and immediately another rose sprang forth. This also she gave to her father that he might walk in front of the palace and give it for another human eye.
The old man took the rose, and scarcely had he begun crying it before the palace when the old dame again heard him. "
He has just come at the nick of time," thought she ; " the King's son has begun to love my rose-bedizened daughter ; if I can only get this rose also, he will love her still better, and this serving-wench wOl go out of his mind altogether." So she called the mud-raker to her and asked for the rose, but again he would not take money for it, though he was willing to let her have it in exchange for a human eye.
Then the old woman gave him the second eye, and the old man hastened home with it and gave it to the damsel.
Rosa immediately put it in its proper place, prayed to Allah, and was so rejoiced when her two bright eyes sparkled with living light that she smiled all the day, and roses bloomed on every side of her. Henceforth she was lovelier than ever.
Now one day beautiful Rosa went for a walk, and as she smiled continually as she walked along, roses bloomed around her and the ground grew fresh and green beneath her feet.
The palace dame saw her and was terrified. "What will become of me," she thought, "if the affair of this damsel comes to be known?"
She knew where the poor mud-scraper lived, so she went all alone to his dwelling, and terrified him by telling him that he had an evil witch in his house. The poor man had never seen a witch, so he was terrified to death, and asked the palace dame what he had better do.
"Find out, first of all, what her talisman is," advised the palace dame, " and then I'll come and do the rest."
So the first thing the old man did when the damsel came home was to ask her how she, a mere child of man, had come to have such magic power.
The damsel, suspecting no ill, said that she had got her talisman from the three Peris, and that pearls, roses, and fresh sweet verdure would accompany her so long as her talisman was alive.
"What then is thy talisman ? " asked the old man. "A little deer on the hill-top; If it die, I also dead drop," answered she.
The next day the palace dame came thither in the utmost misery, heard all about it from the mud-carrier, and hastened home with great joy.
She told her daughter that on the top of the neighbouring hill was a little deer which she should ask her husband to get for her. That very same day the Sultana told her husband of the little deer on the top of the hill, and begged and implored him to get her its heart to eat. And after not many days the Prince's men caught the little deer and killed it, and took out its heart and gave it to the Sultana. At the same instant when they killed the little fawn fair Rosa died.
The mudr-carrier sorrowed over her till he could sorrow no more, and then took and buried her. Now in the heart of the little fawn there was a little red coral eye which nobody took any notice of. When the Sultana ate the heart, the little red coral eye fell out and rolled down the steps as if it wanted to hide itself.
Time went on, and in not more than nine months and ten days the Prince's consort was brought to bed of a little daughter, who wept pearls when she cried, dropt roses when she smiled, and sweet green herbs sprang up in her footsteps. When the Prince saw it he mused and mused over it, the little girl was the very image of fair Rosa, and not a bit like the mother who had borne her. So his sleep was no repose to him, till one night fair Rosa appeared to him in his dreams and spoke these words to him:
" Oh, my prince ! oh, my betrothed ! my soul is beneath thy palace steps, my body is in the tomb, thy little girl is my little girl, my talisman is the little coral eye." The Prince had no sooner awakened than he went to the staircase and searched about, and lo ! there was the little coral eye.
He picked it up, took it into his chamber, and laid it on the table. Meanwhile, the little girl entered the room, saw the red coral, and scarcely had she laid hold of it than she vanished as if she had never been.
The three Peris had carried off the child and taken her to her mother's tomb, and scarcely had she placed the coral eye in the dead woman's mouth than she awoke up to a new life. But the King's son was not easy in his mind.
He went to the cemetery, had the tomb opened, and there in her coffin lay the Rose-beauty of his dreams, with her little girl in her arms and the coral talisman in her mouth. They arose from the tomb and embraced him, and pearls fell from the eyes of both of them as they wept, and roses from their mouths as they smiled, and sweet green herbs grew up in their footsteps. The palace dame and her daughter paid for their crimes, but beautiful Rosa and her father and her mother, the Sultan's daughter, were all re-united, and for forty days and forty nights they held high revel amidst the beating of drums and the tinkling of cymbals.

Gojo Satoru's Techniques
Cursed Energy:
Immesurable Cursed Energy: Satoru Gojo is known for the immense amounts of cursed energy he possesses that is near infinite thanks to six eyes. Gojo's cursed energy is vast enough to use a Domain Expansion multiple times per day within fraction of mins as we saw in the recent chapter. In contrast, most sorcerers can only use it once.
He has excellent control over his cursed energy, capable of activating his Domain in a split second, use reverse cursed techniques, and even combines positive and negative cursed energy.
Learnt Techniques:
Reverse Cursed Technique: Gojo is the one of the few sorcerers who can used a Reverse Cursed Technique to heal themselves. With this technique, Gojo can not only heal himself, but he can make the positive energy flow into the Infinity, giving him access to his Red and Hollow Purple attacks.
However, healing others is out of Gojo's bounds for now, something that few others like Sukuna and Shoko can do.
Black Flash: A technique that creates spatial distortion when a user connects with an impact of cursed energy within 0.000001 seconds of a physical hit. The phenomenon causes cursed power to flash black, creating a more potent attack to the power of 2.5 of a normal hit. Its currently unknown how many times Gojo has performed Black Flash but isn't it obvious that it's multiple times?
Simple Domain: Created as a counter for domain expansions, Simple Domain neutralizes a domain's guaranteed-hit function by affecting its barrier and not the imbued cursed technique.
However, against a proper domain expansion, Simple Domain can only hope to buy its user time. Powerful domains can destroy simple domains within seconds.
Simple Domain barriers can be customized with different rules and binding vows to affect those within it, both caster and target.
Gojo is able to create a simple domain three times the size of a normal simple domain during his fight against sukuna.
Falling Blossom Emotion: Unlike Simple Domain, in which the user manifests their own domain to nullify a domain expansion's auto-hit attack,
Falling Blossom Emotion shrouds the user in cursed energy that counter-attacks the moment a domain's guaranteed hit makes contact. The cursed energy defends the user automatically, countering any attack with equal force to nullify it. With this Gojo was able to reduce the effect of Sukuna's Cleave & Dismatle's slashes to a great extent.
Shadow Clone Technique: This technique allows the user to clone themselves using their shadows manipulated with their cursed energy.
Inherited Techniques:
Limitless: At the base level, Limitless is an innate technique which is derived from the Gojo family. This technique grants its users nigh-absolute control over space through cursed energy manipulation at an atomic level, resulting in multiple subsequent results and techniques within the overall ability.
With the manipulation of space as just the base level of the technique, Limitless has three standard and one "non-standard" form beyond this.
Infinity: Being the neutral form of the Limitless, the Infinity is commonly known as the ability to stop, although this is a common misconception as the true power of the Infinity is to slow things down.
When something attempts to hit Satoru, the person or object in question instead hits the infinity between himself and them. According to Satoru, this is the convergence of an infinite series and comes straight from the paradox of Achilles and the tortoise.
Akin to the way Achilles will never catch the tortoise due to the potential, infinite amounts of finite space separating them or how the real number one will never touch the real number two due to the infinite amount of fractions that separate them, the opponent will never touch Satoru due to the infinity between them.
Satoru can decide what does and doesn't touch him and can do so based upon mass, speed, and danger ratings.
Six Eyes: Not much is known about the Six Eyes, but it is known that they play some role in the precise usage of the Limitless and grants the user enhanced perception. It has been stated that similar to Limitless, Six Eyes is also an Innate Technique inherited through the Gojo family.
○ It Grants the user a 360° vision to such extent, they can see miles away clearly.
○ It grants the user extraordinary perception and the ability to utilize the Limitless to its fullest potential. Satoru Gojo is the first sorcerer to be born with both the Limitless and the Six Eyes in the last four hundred years. It is heavily implied that Six Eyes allows for the user to perceive the world in terms of mass, speed, energy, and so forth alongside its other effects.
The Six Eyes is essentially removing the limits of the human senses of Gojo (making them Limitless, pun intended).
○ This ability allows Gojo to process visual information in an accelerated manner while aiding him in manipulating the nuanced energies of the Limitless. Since every technique requires complex cursed energy manipulation to function, the pairing with the Six Eyes remains crucial, especially when engaged in a fight against special grade cursed spirits.
○ Yuta has stated that the Six Eyes allows Satoru to reduce his cursed energy consumption from technique activation infinitesimally near to nothing, and that he will never run out of cursed energy in a fight as a result.
○ The Six Eyes allows the user to see cursed energy in extreme detail. As such the user of the Six Eyes is able to see the flow of cursed energy, which in turn allows them to read another person's cursed techniques as well.
Gojo's Six Eyes allow him to detect different kinds of cursed energy, helping him better understand the person wielding it.
○ Gojo chooses to keep his eyes covered in the early episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen can be attributed to the overwhelming eye powers of the technique, since it grants the user the ability to translate one moment in time into an expanded temporal stretch.
This time dilation allows the user to gauge positions and tactical strategies almost instantly within a vast range. This could potentially explain why Gojo keeps his eyes covered when not engaged in a fight, as it would only lead to sensory overload.
Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue: The reinforced version of the neutral limitless; Blue is the byproduct of Gojo amplifying the Limitless and negative energy, producing a vacuum. Through these, Gojo creates a scenario where the world itself is forced to correct itself and fill in the negative space, causing all matter in the range of the commanded space to be pulled together.
Cursed Technique Lapse - Maximum Cursed Energy Output: Blue: Satoru creates a center of gravity in a specific space capable of attracting all matter, crushing it all effortlessly akin to a black hole. He can also move the point of gravity at will, augmenting its destructive capabilities greatly.
Cursed Technique Reversal: Red: Being an inversion of Blue, Red has the opposite effect. Using his reversal technique to invert the properties of Blue, Satoru activates the divergence of his infinity and causes an extremely powerful repulsive force, repelling all matter in its vicinity. Being an ability that is powered by positive cursed energy and formed as a reverse curse technique, the ability has two times the destructive ability of Blue.
Hollow Technique: Purple: A non-standard technique of Limitless more potent and destructive than the 2 standard forms that only select few know about, even among the members of the Gojo Family. Satoru snaps his fingers, combining "Blue" (attraction) and "Red" (repulsion), generating a long-ranged singularity where both effects are combined, deleting and erasing all matter in its path instantaneously.
Barrier Techniques
Curtain: Gojo can create a barrier that surrounds a certain area. The barrier can seal the area off from other people or a specific person wanting to get in.
Domain Expansion:
Unlimited Void: Gojo's Domain Expansion. It creates a metaphysical space that causes the victims to receive all kinds of stimuli and information endlessly, restraining their thought processes and actions.
Gojo's control over his Domain is so precise that he can activate it for only 0.2 seconds, limiting its lasting effect on those he traps within it. Those he makes physical contact with are also immune to its effect.
As Gojo Continues to show us more of the techniques he knows, I will be updating this post to keep us all up to date with his powers, just in case there are some forgetful people like me.
