Just found out that AO3 now also uses Cloudflare's bot protection - which means the very last website that worked 100% properly on my old tablet is also no longer accessible.

I can't really blame AO3 since they had issues with spambots, but I can blame Google for not allowing upgrades of Android versions.

"Your browser is too old."

No shit sherlock. Play Store no longer works on that tablet, that's how old it is. Do I want to buy a new one? Hell no. I already have two oudated tablets lying around!

Hey y'all, switch to Firefox. Like yeah I know that it seems a bother and Chrome works fine for you and I resisted for years out of apathy, and yeah in most cases Chrome does work fine.

But Google as a company is making real big swings against consumer experience and rights thanks to its monopoly, and I don't trust this to not get worse, for Google to attempt to turn Chrome and Chromium more and more into a walled garden.

Meanwhile, Mozilla seems to actually have our backs with this, is constantly improving their software instead of restricting it, and doing a settings import literally took less than a minute today for an essentially identical experience to using Chrome otherwise.

I say this even to people who enjoy other Google products; you should probably at least switch browsers. Very little to lose there, a lot for us all to gain.

Voting is open for this years Byte-Off NES homebrew game dev audience choice award!

And you can vote for Under Cover Shot, the NES game that I made! The byte off was the whole reason I made this game in the first place, and I’m really proud of it!

Retroverse does require you to make an account before playing/voting for this years entries, but its absolutely worth your time. There are some amazing games this year and they are very fun to play. (I highly recommend taking a look at Backwards Quest, and Godspeed)

#I think Undercover Shot is the only light gun game this year #which means it’s the only game that people can’t play in browser #bc the browser emulator doesn’t have light gun support #so I’m not sure if I’m actually gonna get many votes #bc people can’t play the game #but I kinda knew that going into this #I just made the game I wanted to make because it was fun #ALSO #I really like Backwards Quest #and kinda thought about voting for that over my own game

#vent #having an issue. called tech support as you do. first two people were nice and competent #third lady was a Piece Of Work #i struggle with left and right so this became an issue at first with her telling me what to do #and instead of believing me when i said that i just struggle with left and right #she took that to mean i was stupid and combative #so she asked me to open smth in chrome even though the issue is a program on edge #i navigate to edge as you do #she insists i'm Lying about being on the correct page on my end and gets angry when i say #well maybe it's bc i opened this program in a different browser?#finally she lets me open the program in edge instead. it works perfectly. she doesn't apologize for treating me like an idiot #so i told her “look i might struggle with left and right and i may not be the most technologically capable person in existence #but my dad and brother are both very good at technology and i know my shit well enough to know that i did everything right just then #and that i've tested all of this before bothering y'all. i'm not fucking stupid“ and she just. did not acknowledge it lmfao #but whatever! i guess!

buy photoshop for a flat fee. it's yours forever!

photoshop says actually they changed their mind and now to use the product you already purchased and owned for years you have to pay them forever.

cancel your plan after a while because you can't afford it.

oh, look, now that you've not been grandfathered in, the new price is doubled!

come back a while later despite that with the intention of paying for a month or two so you can make some gifs of a video game you really love.

when you try to cancel your subscription afterwards, photoshop hits you with a huge fee because apparently, without making this information clear, they had you on an "annual subscription, paid monthly." they justify this by saying it's a heavily discounted price, despite it being more expensive than your old subscription that you could cancel whenever you wanted, and also exponentially more expensive than the flat rate you used to purchase and own photoshop the first time before they decided they could leech money out of your fucking pores until you're a desiccated husk ground beneath the heel of their unimaginable greed.
