Like it says, Ben 10 potential ghost designs but based specifically on Danny Phantom type ghosts for funsies! Like to imagine he and Danny met when he's transformed as a ghost, Danny sees him de-transform, and possibly think he's a halfa. !!! Closer looks at each + me rambling about each design under the cut.

DESIGN 1) Based off AF and OV, leaning more towards OV's overall design (hair, and smile specifically), but incorporating AF's jacket! Plus, sprinkling in a bit of inspo from Danny's ghost form by keeping the belt bit attached to the Omnitrix's symbol on the shirt!

DESIGN 2) the OG's series Ben with a ghost transformation! Inverse the colors of his usual getup, since that's what also happens to Danny!

DESIGN 3) Playing with ghostly skin colors! DP's range of ghost skin is usually on the cooler side, specifically with blue/green/white, (the only exception being Danny himself, whose firstly a halfa, and secondly via possible headcanon, also wants to look human), but, at the very least had to try to see how'd it look with Ben!

DESIGN 4) I'd like to headcanon the Omnitrix wouldn't depart from Ben even through death itself, and upon transforming (or even dying), it would slowly expand outwards! The most dead-looking of all the designs considering the gray skin tone, this one is specifically leans a bit more into Ghostfreak's design via the black lines. Probably my least fav of the bunch, he looks a bit too grim.

DESIGN 5) Legit my favorite of all six, and by god did the shoes drive me crazy. Either way, OV style Ben leaning even harder into the Ghostfreak design elements with the chains and lines. Kept Design 2's highlighter bright green, and took inspo from the most recent Ben 10 show's shirt design!

DESIGN 6) This is more so a Ben who has actually died (or is dying and need of help he can't access), the Omnitrix has transformed him into a DP style ghost for survival, keeping the watch "even in death"! The glowing lines of the Omnitrix stretch over from the watch and all over his body. I'd like to think, in spite of whatever age Ben would actually pass, or nearly died, or is dying, he'd look 10 no matter what. Kind of like a day he sealed his fate, sort of thing. Fun!

(he/she/they/it any basically) Agender - Panromantic Asexual

*giggles, kicks feet, twirls hair* Mal... Anyways! Some of y'all probably been waiting for this one! My silly fae prince, whose identity may or may not be based on my own. Sue me, this bitch is hella relatable.

- So, onto the headcanons, I felt like Mal wasn't all that intimidating when he first popped up outside our house. Idk, I see a cat-type personality and all my self preservation is thrown out the nearest window. She's just a big meow. But I wanted them to actually look rather intimidating, making his bangs cover his eyes a bit more, darker makeup, whatnot.

- I know Mal is canonically taller than the rest of the cast but Imma make her even taller. Its 6'6" without the horns and like 6'11 or 7' with them. I want them to be a cryptid!! Also the height difference with Lilia bout to be crazy.

- I like the idea that my prefect made her some lil Howl's Moving Castle earrings, even though it obvious doesn't exist in their world. Or maybe it does??? Who knows.

- *scientist voice* The autism is this subject is astronomical. *cough* Yeah, it's also not up for debate. The gargoyles, the general demeanour. Yuu is their favoured person.

- Malleus and my prefect would probably interact a little differently than Yuu does canonically, as we're both silly little autistic people, but I'll save that for my Yuusona post lol.

- Really tempted to throw in that it has a forked tongue. Does have fangs but Mal and Jamil probably both have forked tongues, j st for funsies.

- Loves to read sappy romance novels, is giggling and kicking her feet at soulmate stuff in particular. Has a whole list of little date ideas in a notebook (totally not saying this because /I/ have one or anything)...

Not mush else to say give I've only canonically interacted with her like three times but now for everyone's favourite grandpa!

(he/she) - Bisexual

- Teehee! So I saw someone headcanons Lilia as Indian and I was SO here for it, though I think he's be half Indian, half Mexican or smth.

- Gave this girl SO many piercing. I feel like she got them 'cause she was bored. Idk, 500 years is pretty old, ya gotta spice things up some how.

- Some scars from 'ye old days'(tm) and I made his hair a bit wavy and added a green gradient to the ends, just to mimick Malleus' hair. Also, this bitch stands a proud 5'3" on a good day (aka with heels).

- He's the kind of dad that makes his kids wear matching pjs during the winter holidays and while he knows his kids like the back of his hand, chooses to give them silly gifts most of the time. Also, he spoils Mal and Silver rotten.

- Absolutely tries to get Malleus to properly flirt with MC but it never works out like he plans. Silver just watches with mild amusement.

- Yes, I was mad he doesn't canonically have a last name. I figured that Lilia would have officially adopted him at some point or another and typically you need a last name for a lot of things so I just gave them Lilia's.

- I think that Silver's gray hair is natural and once it gets to be a certain length, it just becomes gray. Additionally, Lilia's a cool dad so Silver got dyed ends and piercings too.

- I actually headcanon that Silver's blind and has narcolepsy (though that's pretty much canon). It was likely from birth or manifested early on and as a result, Malleus is a bit protective of Silver (and Sebek is too but he'd never admit it lol). He has a service dog, which is probably a cute golden retriever named Aurora, and records lectures to listen back to. He, Kalim, and Ruggie have little study groups as second years. Also, Silver's autistic. Lilia really out here collecting autistic children lmaooo.

- He really likes to knit. Don't ask why but I think he'd enjoy the rhythym of it. (He's made Ruggie and Kalim scarves and both treasure them a ton) He likes to make blankets for Malleus and Lilia as well as himself. He loves to work with the chunkier and softer yarns, especially because it makes keeping track of the stitches easier.

- Owes SO MANY plushies. His bed is half dedicated to them, most probably give to him by Lilia for birthdays and holidays. He loves soft things so all the plushies are like squishmellows and stuff.

Ah, I love Silver. Onto our last canon character,

🐊Sebek Zigvolt🐊

(he/him) - Achillic

Oh boy, this design was such a pain. I literally had to redo it because I didn't like it. Though, in the end, I think it turned out pretty neat.

- On with the physical stuff, I fucked around with his skin tone a bit because it did not look right with his hair in my og design which had a more lime, yellowy green instead of the mint. I made it warmer and ditched the yellow green for the original design's mint, just darker. Finally, I thought I needed a kick of something so I gave him some violet streaks and eyes and BOOM! A Sebek!

- I gave him a bit of a rounder face, I feel like he wouldn't have outgrown his baby chub yet, and a single dimple. I thought it'd be super cute, sue me. Cute lil freckles, the works.

- One thing I am super proud of was his Lichtenburg scar (I believe that's what it's called, I've only really heard in in TMA oops). While I certainly didn't do it justice here, I'll be fleshing it out at some point. I think it's a cool addition to the character based on lighting, maybe his magic accidentally hit him or damaged him at some point idk.

- He is, wait for it... also autistic. Shocker, pun intended. He's actually AuDHD to me and has issues with volume regulation, which is real idk. Would actually also be sensitive to loud noise, as backwards as that sounds. Has noise-cancelling headphones courtesy of Idia. Malleus is his favoured person and he looks up to him a lot.

- Grew up loving dragons and thinking they were like the coolest fcuking things then met Mal and was in awe. Was a totally nerd about dragons as a kid and still has figures and posters and whatnot.

Third Year - (they/she) Genderqueer - Pansexual

She looks like Zelda. I know... but she's pretty!

- Thumbelina is 'twisted' from the loom in the story of Sleeping Beauty. IF EPEL IS LITERALLY AN APPLE, she can be a loom. Anyhow, I made her a fae as well, likely one of the craft fairies, just taking on a more human-sized form. She takes a ton of inspo from the og story of Thumbelina, as a tiny little fae she got separated from her kin and raised by human parents. That's why she doesn't have the 'ick' about humans that most fae have.

- When she got accepted to NRC, Crowley gave her access to a potion that changes her size so she'd be able to attend school easier. Her parents were tailors and so she grew up around sewing but could never do it because of how tiny she was. When she changed sizes, she immediately wanted to try her hand at sewing, official joining (or maybe founding) the sewing club.

- After intially joining Diasomnia and seeing Lilia's piercings, they piqued her curiosity and she got some.

- As a fae, she loves to be outdoors and tends to a garden outside of the dorm. She also rather oblivious when some expresses interest in her as she's not familiar with human courting. Lilia adopts yet another autistic child lmao.

Second Year - (they/he/she) Genderfluid - Asexual Aromantic

- Munkh is my character for the thorns that encircled Aurora's castle. Minorly abstract but hey, cool ass character design.

- They're Mongolian and I wanted the spikey aspect to really shine through, giving them liberty spikes thanks to my friend's suggestion! Wanted to go really punk especially because I haven't really done so in a character design before and I LOVE IT!

- She was originally going to have a Maleficent colour palette for the spikes but it was getting too close to some of the other designs so I made it black and red to emulate roses.

- He's a part of the music club as well, likely a vocalist or drummer. He loves the energy and the people are really cool, plus obviously his vice housewarden's there.

- They're also on the athletic side and enjoy various sports, namely Spelldrive. Also, she does own her own blastcycle and immediately bonds with Deuce over a shared love of them. Deuce and Munkh like this 🤞.

- Kyra's my oc twisted from Tick Tock, the alligator(?) from Peter Pan. I gave her the yellow-green from my original Sebek design and it looks way better here.

- I think as a reference to the clock and like 'ticking', she'd have Tourette's. It sometimes flares up more than others so she has an agreement with the teachers about class times where it's acting up.

- I think she'd have like mild beef with Josephina because they met on a wrong foot during orientation but it's not a huge deal. Probably sleep-deprived Josephina said something insulting Diasomnia and Kyra was like, "What the hell?". They have a friendly competition going on now, every gym class.

- She's a part of the track and field club and is one of the fastest on the team. That being said, she's not a huge fan of physical activity and prefer to read in the library or study.

Easter Eggs - In the Dirt Chapter 3

Okay. I have so many of these that I threw in for funsies. I had to have something to keep myself entertained while PVP-ing writer's block for six months xD I'll post my favorites first, just since the list is kind of ridiculously long, lol.

First: the entire funeral section of the chapter is written with the same structure as the first chunk of chapter one. >:) ("Sticky counters under fingertips. The sharp tang of sweat and alcohol..." -> "The stifling scent of artificially perfumed flowers. A dusty Princeton funeral home...")

Now for narration and dialogue. Unless stated otherwise these are just meant to be parallels/nods that we the readers see, not that the characters are explicitly referring to within the story.

"I'm going to die. What difference does it make if it's when I'm still young and healthy, or if it's five years from now when I've lost the ability to walk? To talk?”: This one is meant to be a tonal parallel to Thirteen and House's argument in You Don't Want to Know. ("I might die. So could you, you could get hit by a bus tomorrow. The only difference is you don't have to know about it today, so why should I?")

"Oh, grow up.” House snarls, so sharply that Thirteen feels herself flinch. “It's the same for all of us. Everybody dies. You know damn well that none of us get to do it with any dignity.”: HNNNNFHFSDF this is my favorite one. On my part, it's a reference to both Pilot ("You can live with dignity; we can't die with it") and House's angry, grieving outburst to Thirteen in Dying Changes Everything. ("People die! You, Amber, everyone. Don't act like you just figured that out.") Within the story, House only intended it to be a callback to the latter.

"You'd rather die than let anyone see the real you, because you think you're weak. You think you're pathetic.”: OOSHGSDF THIS IS MY OTHER FAVORITE. Okay. This was meant to be a parallel to my 7x18/5x08 web weave. Specifically House's dialogue with Sophia in Emancipation ("You need people to see how independent you are, how well you're coping. So they won't see the lost, hurt little girl.") (The other parallel to the web weave that I threw in there was Thirteen's later thought of House... what did you do?)

Before you start yelling at me– They're heading down a two-lane road, passing field after field under a dizzyingly wide blue sky, and Thirteen's vision fills with green-green-green– I'm doing this because I care about you.: When I first set up this connection when I was outlining the chapter, I almost fuckin' screamed. BIRTHMARKS. BIRTHMARKS!!!!!!!!! ("I am not doing this because I care.") I drove myself fucking insane with this one. I could write a whole ass post about the parallels between this chapter and parts of Birthmarks, but I think a lot of it will probably end up getting sprinkled into House's POV. (Edit to add: and the drugs. that was ALSO an intentional birthmarks reference. Idk how I forgor the drugs😭)

The rest are under the cut if anyone is curious!

Thirteen asking Foreman "Are you... okay?" at the beginning of their phone call: This was meant to parallel the moment in The Dig when Thirteen asks House the same thing, immediately after finding out that he and Cuddy had been dating but broke up.

“You had me worried for a second there. I thought you were about to show up at my apartment with a dead body or a stab wound.”: A nod to Darrien going to Thirteen for help in After Hours.

"I'm sorry." "Hey, no, don't do that.": Parallel to Remorse, when Foreman apologizes for firing Thirteen in the middle of their argument, and Thirteen snaps, "Don't do that! That's not what this is about!"

"What, did he finally break parole and get arrested or something?": Parallel to an exchange between House and Thirteen in The Dig about Lucas ("You could have at least hired Cuddy's weird boyfriend." "Lucas?" "Mmm-hmm." "You don't know?" "What, is he dead or something?"). Except with the horrible irony of: this time, someone actually is dead. Or something.

“I’m trying... to say that he’s gone. House is gone.” “Excuse me?”: Meant to be a thematic mirror image of a moment between Foreman and Thirteen in The Softer Side ("Do you miss sleeping with women?" "Excuse me?"). Tone-wise and context wise, they are complete opposites. But both times Thirteen reacts to the shock by asking for clarification (because clearly, to her, what she just heard can't possibly be what Foreman intended to say.)

"We've gotta be realistic. He's attempted before.” “Yeah, four years ago!": Reference to House quite literally killing himself (for less than two minutes) via electrocution in 97 Seconds.

"Why the hell did you just give up? What happened to 'killing yourself is never the answer?'”: House is referencing what Thirteen tells their patient in The Softer Side ("No matter how bad things get, killing yourself is never the answer"). He didn't mean it as a reference to Kutner, but it triggers memories for Thirteen of Kutner's suicide.

His words hit her like a sucker punch as memories of a different person– a different time and place, blood coated over her hands and face, cold and thick and copper-crisp– flash before her mind's eye.: Thirteen remembering the moment they discovered Kutner in Simple Explanation. (Also occurs at the end of the chapter when she feels "someone else's blood that drips from her face")

House's jaw drops.  “Charity case?” he demands, incredulous. “After everything I've done, you think that's what this is? A charity case?": lol this was just a nod to the title of the 'House fires Thirteen so she can be happy' episode being Charity Case. Something something House has never seen Thirteen as a charity case something something Thirteen tries to say he does so she can deny emotional involvement/connection.

She'd written out a little speech. Something about spud guns and lesbian bars and the number thirteen...: In-story reference to the events of The Dig and The Choice

Chase's easy grin, Eric's warm hand around her own: Thirteen remembering Last Temptation (Chase grinning and hugging Thirteen when he sees her again for the first time) and Simple Explanation (Thirteen and Foreman holding hands as they watch Kutner's funeral procession)

The cool metal of a spud gun beneath her fingers and House's hand over hers, steadying: That one screen cap from The Dig where Thirteen's aiming the spud gun and House looks like he's supporting her/guiding her through it. Thirteen is remembering that moment.

a story of how (not) to be a big head

Summary: A Pact camp finds itself with a strange Mordrem on their door. It's Renira's duty to sort it out. Content warnings: Slight violence. Spoilers: None.

There’s commotion in the camp. Renira inwardly curses it - the camp was quiet for once, without any bigger threats, and she had half a thought to sleep a little. The looks Doern was giving her were quite worrisome. She can only imagine how she looks. 

But there’s little time to rest in war, so she grabs her pistol from a nearby table, fixes her face so it doesn’t show how annoyed the news has made her, and leaves. As the highest ranked officer in the camp, it’s her duty. The thought makes her head spin; she’d never envisioned herself in this role. She’s always been a good infiltrator, a good spy, but a good Commander? That’s above her spy training. That requires adapting to. 

That’s also what Nyra does best. Oh, she’s there too! It’s still a little unclear whether Nyra technically outranks her in the matters of the Pact army - she is their military arm after all, and Renira is their spymistress. But they share a rank and a title. Renira needs to be there, though she is a little glad she can probably safely defer to Nyra’s expertise on this issue. 

Her tired mind would be very grateful. 

“What’s happening?” she asks the first person she comes across, an asura in Vigil uniform. Their eyes are panicked. 

“Warmaster Bjornsdottir and her team came back,” they tell her. “They brought.. A Mordrem back.” 

“A Mordrem?” Renira keeps her voice steady. “Has it been brought aside for questioning?” 

“He,” the asura replies. “Vehemently opposes being referred to as it and insists that it.. He won’t talk to us otherwise.” 

“Mordrem know of gender identity?” She makes a mental note of that. 

“Apparently. Commander Sulver, this Mordrem.. He’s strange. Looks more like a sylvari than the husks we fight. The Warmaster said he fought with them and killed his own brethren. He’s tied up, just in case of any danger, but so far he’s not caused harm to us.” A pause. “He does have thorns for a tongue, though.” 

“So I should be wary of bites,” Renira nods. “Your help is much appreciated, soldier. Leave the rest to Commander Ainsaph and me.” 

The asura gratefully nods and runs along. She steels her nerves - that Mordrem looks to be a right pain the ass, even if she’s cautiously curious about him - and makes her way to where Warmaster Bjornsdottir and her team are. And true to the soldier’s words, she holds a Mordrem by the hair. 

Yeah, this might just be the strangest Mordrem she’s seen in her life. His bark is a deep green, and in the dying light of day, the high points of his sharp face are starting to glow a bright red. Red horns grow between strands of red foliage, long enough to reach his waist. Red, blood-like patterns splash his neck and go down his chest and lower, hidden by the torn, leafy clothes. 

But what she focuses most of her attention on are his eyes - dark red, glowing, with unsettling, golden irises. And when he notices she’s watching, they turn to her, unblinking. Then his eyes widen. “You’re one of us!” 

“I am not working for Mordremoth,” Renira explains cooly. 

“Obviously not, I’m not fucking stupid, but what I meant is, you have magic like us. Like me. I’d wiggle my fingers to make an illusion or two but your ridiculously harmless friends tied my fingers too.” A laughter, maniacally amused. “Is it true you people tie each other up for funsies?” 

“For funsies?” Renira repeats. Bjornsdottir repositions herself and uses her free hand to slap him across the face. “Some people are aroused by being slapped too. I see you’re not one of them.” 

“Not particularly,” he says, voice subdued. Someone laughs from the gathering crowd. “Ouch.”

“That’s our guy?” Nyra suddenly intones, and any clamor the hit might’ve caused dies down. “Our strange little Mordrem?” 

“What a delightful lot you people are,” he scoffs. “Guy surrenders and doesn’t fight back and what does he get?” 

“You are in an enemy camp,” Nyra reminds him. “Since you surrendered, we will not harm you. Aisanne, let his hair go.” 

Aisanne looks Nyra in the eye and then, begrudgingly, lets go. Mordrem's head falls forward. “Fucking finally,” he mutters. 

“Do you have a name?” 

“Kassandros,” he says and looks at the state he’s in. Renira thinks his arms, pulled back, must be aching by now. She stretches her neck to see if his fingers are really tied. They are; that was a smart call. That limits one type of spellcasting he could use. He catches her looking once more. “It’s more dignified than the situation I’m in right now, in case you were wondering.” 

Renira tilts her head. Her chest tightens for a mere moment before she lets it go. “Life rarely is dignified,” she simply says. 

“Mm, quite. And where’s the Commander? The big bad dragon slayer?” 

“Big and bad?” Nyra lifts a brow and smiles slightly. “That’s one way to talk about me, certainly.” 

Renira watches. They were all on the Glory of Tyria when Zhaitan fell, though history will most likely remember the one who fired from the cannons and not the ones who killed the lifeless minions around them. But it is expected. Careless, maybe a little reckless, but a challenge to the dragon nonetheless. If it were up to Renira, she wouldn’t reveal anything until absolutely necessary. 

But that’s not Nyra, is it? Besides, it takes the focus away from Renira. The way Kassandros looks at her, studies her, even without using his magic, makes her skin crawl. She’s been told she has a similar effect before. She does not appreciate being seen like this. 

“Knew it’d be you - or someone like you, anyway. You just seem like the type to oh so bravely walk up to a dragon and maybe die for the audacity.” 

Nyra’s smile drops. “I am sworn to protect Tyria from them,” she says sharply. “Just as you turned your back on your own. That’s equally fucking ballsy, and might just get you killed long before your master ever finds out about it. I’d pick my words more wisely if I were you.” 

“Noted, Commander,” he grins and they only have a glint of his fangs before Bjornsdottir’s levelling her fist at him again. This time around, he flies to the side, groaning when his head hits the grass with a thud. 

“I know you said no harm, Commander,” Bjornsdottir says, “but he’s making this into extraordinary circumstances.”

“Honestly, would’ve done the same myself at some point, probably,” Nyra shrugs. Kassandros stares at her with wide eyes, panting. 

“Listen, I bear no more love for the leafy bastard than you,” he says as he tries to sit up and falls down. “In fact, I hate him. I hate him, I hate the spawn of my mother he made. I hate my siblings, I hate the control, I loathe it all! They can all go fuck themselves for all I care! And you people are the best shot of doing just that. So I’m on your side. I’m helping you.” His angry, unsettling gaze passes between the three women around him, made all the worse by his helpless position on the ground. Nobody makes a move to help. “I ask for protection in exchange for information and aid. I know how my people work. I know the jungle–” 

Aisanne bristles. 

“I know the jungle, okay, okay, no need to hit me again,” he breathes out. “All I ask is protection. And you’re getting so much in return.” He closes his eyes and sighs.

Everyone falls silent.

“It’s… It’s true that we need a better layout of the jungle and of the Mordrem,” Renira says after a moment. “I mean no offense, Warmaster Bjornsdottir, but wouldn’t your job be easier if we had a better layout of the place we’re trying to fight in?”

“Then I’ll make one,” Aisanne says and bores her eyes into Kassandros. “But– He did fight with us. He didn’t resist the capture. He did surrender.” 

“Ren, is there any mesmer magic currently active on him, if you can notice it?” Nyra asks. 

“If I could, it’d be shitty magic,” Renira replies and makes a few steps forward. “And I do not think our Mordrem is an amateur.” 

“Thank you?” Kassandros pipes up, more than a little confused and bewildered.

“We can always call our Priory arcanists,” Renira continues. “Elandrin isn’t here, unfortunately. But he’s not the only Arcanist in our ranks.”

“Do it. I’ll consider the option if they say there’s nothing.” Nyra waves a hand to the nearest soldier to go look for any Arcanist they can find. Of course it’s all down to her. Renira smiles. “And in the meantime, for the fuck’s sake, help the guy sit up.” 

“How very generous of you,” Kassandros whispers when a scout helps him up. He still looks angry, but his voice is more subdued this time. If Renira had to guess, he’s aware of what situation he’s in and acts more or less accordingly. And for what it’s worth, he doesn’t seem to be lying. She’s made lies her trade, after all. She would have a very good idea of what lying looks like. 

He gives her a long, lingering look. His clothes are only barely tethered to him. His face contorts in a grimace whenever he tries to get his arms in a more comfortable position. The image is familiar, almost too familiar, another life flashing before her eyes in the rare few instances Vera had a reflective surface to catch a glimpse of herself. 

It’s a face Renira doesn’t remember, but she remembers the rags, the anger, the aches. Kassandros presses his lips tightly together, swallows thickly and something flashes in his eyes for a moment before he looks at Aisanne and Nyra. Aisanne frowns. Nyra observes with an emotionless face, but Renira knows there’s a morsel of empathy in her heart. 

A trick to garner sympathy, she tells herself, but the pain in his eyes was as clear as the horns on his head. She knows of such pain. She doesn’t trust fully, but she trusts that it’s there, even if a little played up. A part of her, the less rational one, thinks that you can’t lie about it. The rational one thinks you absolutely can. 

She supposes the decision is not hers. Nyra seems more than happy to make it - and face the consequences afterwards.

Yet, just maybe, she’s already trying to think of people who might watch him.

Some Power Swap AU headcanons for the funsies

Skylor owns a pet purple snake named Yukari. Yukari is best girl and everyone except Griffin (it's complicated) loves her. Her biggest fan is Morro.

Neuro is the team weed dealer. He started smoking in university as a method of coping with stress and doesn't really do it as much when he becomes a ninja because he's often too busy. He and Shade occasionally sneak out to share a blunt behind the palace.

Griffin has a mild peanut allergy.

Shade cannot cook and is not allowed to touch most of the kitchen appliances.

Neuro and Shade both have poliosis, which they inherited from their father. Shade hides it by dying his hair black.

Morro got his signature green streak after becoming the green ninja and bullied Shade into getting a matching red streak. Skylor was the one who dyed their hair.

Griffin flirts with everyone except Morro as a joke. Even Chen. Skylor isn't really happy about that.

Neuro was born left-handed but trained himself to be ambidextrous because as a kid he went to one of those stuffy schools with those old-fashioned teachers who'd punish left-handedness.

Whenever Karlof gets too stressed, he beats up a punching bag in his bedroom.

Skylor wants a purple snake tattoo. Chen won't let her get it until her 18th birthday, which she doesn't think is fair.

Shade used to keep a knife in his boot when he first became a ninja but after he grew more comfortable around everyone, he ditched it. Plus, it was kinda uncomfortable.

Karlof can and will pick up people by the scruff of their neck.

Griffin keeps a teddy bear in his bed named George. Nobody knows about this except for Morro, whom Griffin allowed to borrow George when Morro had a nightmare.

Morro loves animals and is always trying to keep any he sees as a pet. Nobody else is really on board with the idea. So as a compensation, he spends so much time with Yukari.

Karlof had a goth phase as an early teen he refuses to talk about.

Skylor, Griffin, and Shade often play video games together and it the worst because they will get super competitive and annoying about it. Skylor loves speedrunning.

4. what is the plot bunny you've been carrying around the longest? optional bonus question: do you ever wonder why you haven't written it yet and experience deep existential dread?

I have many. many. many ideas. and not just for ATLA. but I think these are my favorites:

for ATLA

a. book 2, Iroh and Zuko are in Ba Sing Se. I say "screw you" to canon a bit and extend their time there. during that time, Zuko and Jin start actually dating, they become friends with the Jet, Smellerbee, and Longshot. with that friendship, they slowly relax into being teens and having fun (in part because they're committing Blue and Green Spirit shenanigans together). Zuko kinda forgets he was Zuko and really starts to embrace Lee. and then, Jet sees a poster about Appa and drags Lee with them, he sees the Gaang, and Zuko come crashing back to reality. they retrieve Ty Lee and Mai from the Palace (by accident, cause they think Suki is there), and then it's a trek of a dozen teens across the Earth Kingdom to take down Ozai. oh, and also, Jin is a secret (but very bad) earthbender.

I've written about half of it. maybe I'll finish and post it one day. there's also a GREAT scene where Zuko (as Lee) goes to Jin's for dinner and to meet her parents and younger sister (that I added for funsies). it's so awkward and fun and I love it so much.

b. I got permission to write a story based on @gemgirl28's idea. I have yet to write it yet, but it is outlined. that delay just makes me feel bad, because I want to do the story justice.

Spy X Family

a. like many others, I have been sucked into the Spy X Family world. it's three years ahead of where the story is now, and it starts with Donovan Desmond dying in a plane crash. and then it's just sort of how the cold war grows from there, Loid has to fake his death, Yuri evacuates Yor and Anya, it's a whole thing. a whole, very messy, very chaotic...thing. :)

I've already started writing it. I'm maybe a chapter into it.

34. how do you name characters and places?

characters: baby name lists. so many baby name lists. the targeted ads I get make my mother-in-law VERY curious and happy.

places: I tend to come up with a connecting theme for a place. so like, for the Earth Kingdom: a lot of actual real-life Chinese towns/cities are named sort-of based on their location (Bei Jing: Northern Capital). so, in Eight Years Later, the few smaller EK towns I created are named after the location they're at. however, for the Fire Nation in EYL, because I kind of view the cultural side of the Fire Nation as a pan-Asian country made up of a whole collection of cultures, each island I've "named" is just a "firebender associated" word from different Southeast Asian languages. so like, in EYL, Araw Island is "Day" in Filipino/Tagalog (don't remember exactly which one, sorry!), Moesashi Island is "Embers" in Japanese, and so on.

(fun fact: Mosu actually has MANY meanings...such as "ember" and "humble"...he's kinda the only character in EYL, at least, that I didn't find from a baby name list and instead went the language route - but it is an actual name, also, I think...I'm pretty sure I found it somewhere...it's been years at this point, apologies)

35. tell us about a character who's very different than you who you love a whole lot.

Ty Lee. I am not that bubbly and positive. I wish I could be. I know she's hiding mountains of hurt, which honestly, aren't we all? but she's able to put on a very compelling facade to get through her day, and I'm not sure if that's admirable or even more depressing. but I like to think that post-canon Ty Lee is very happy and doesn't have to fake it.

64. what is your favorite title for a fic you've read?

people can be real clever with their titles, and I wish I had that skill. I really like goofy, silly titles. little jokes and what not. I don't have any immediately in mind, I tend to forget details like that, but scrolling through my Ao3 history, I found this one and it made me chuckle:

1. Heck yeah she’s got stuffed animals. She has a little bear from like elementary named Red, but he’s not even red he’s like a grayish blue? She was a strange kid

2. Plant? No. Her thumbs are the farthest color from green, whatever that is. A kid? She’s always wanted one, but maybe in a few years, and she’ll figure it out from there, and she’ll be the best mom (angst time. she finds out she can’t have kids and is devastated. She and her husband adopt a little girl later, but we don’t have time to unpack all of that)

8. They frustrate her so much, but she will bulldoze her way through those puzzles and problems until they fit right. She doesn’t like being wrong and she won’t give in now.

13. Her mom was so insistent she knew she has worth. Being Latina and a woman in the sixties came with hardships and such, but her mamá made sure she held her head up and she could make it in whatever career she wanted. (ok so little about this, I can’t decide if I want to keep her a cis woman or gender fluid because they both have compelling options. But like. self insert much? (She started as one shhhh))

Okay now I wanna write about Astoria and you can’t stop me

Astoria:

1. Nope! She hates things touching her when she sleeps. If it’s not the pillow she sleeps on and the blanket around her she can’t sleep. Plus at this point of the apocalypse having a stuffed animal seems…frivolous. (we sort her out dw)

2. She likes succulents, sue her. She can tolerate animals if they don’t touch her, can probably take care of one but her team doesn’t want to take that risk. Also keep her 1000 feet away from kids, she doesn’t know how to interact with them and will end up freaking them out by telling them the best way to kill someone with a knife (harder than you think! humans don’t like dying of stab wounds, the nerve of them)

8. You can’t be second in command to the leader of an entire rebellion force without being really good at problem solving. She’s got those puzzle boxes in her quarters she messes with in her spare time for funsies. Yeah they’re intriguing, like maybe a little bit /s

13. It’s not necessarily a good thing her father taught her, but showing feeling is a weakness. She shunned this lesson at first, but with all of her mistakes she made by following her heart taught her he was right. After she (accidentally Kevin come on) caused the apocalypse she feels she doesn’t have the right or the privilege of showing or having complex feelings except to get revenge and fix her world, or die trying

I may be cringe but I am free -- my thoughts when designing/making these very self indulgent OCs that may not be canon for the intentions they were supposed to be made for. (I wonder who's designs I based them off of/ who their parents are supposed to be? Sure a mystery isn't it 🤔🤔🤔)

Anyways meet these fraternal twin sisters, Yuelan (moon, orchid) and Mingxuan (tomorrow, daylily). Their names are Chinese characters and are supposed to be similar to each other since they are twins after all! They do not look that similar in appearance, taking from different aspects of their intended parents, but, I imagine they are still very very close. Yuelan was originally supposed to be the older, taller one who acts like the younger sister, while Mingxuan was supposed to be the shorter, younger one who is more responsible and acts like the older sister BUT... I might just swap the seniority here XD

Yuelan's design comes from me wanting to make her like a cat girl, specifically to look like a Russian blue cat (with the blue hair, green eyes). I even gave her little cat ear buns to make her more catgirl-like, although she might wear catgirl headphones when she has her hair just down. Personality-wise, she's shy and socially anxious, but this makes her come across as cold/rude sometimes -- but inside she's always internally panicking when she needs to speak to people. This is why she hides behind her sister and has Mingxuan talk for her the majority of the time. She is intended to be a hacker/decker but I have yet to determine how exactly she got that sort of training. Her theme colour is mostly blue, as you might be able to tell.

Mingxuan's design is intended to be based off of feathers/angels, although she might have some leafy green plant aesthetics too! I gave her some crosses/plus signs (whatever you want to call it) in her ears as earrings, as her pupil, and as a necklace on her neck because guess what? She's a healer/ doctor in training! (I imagine she is trained by not only her mom but her aunties XD). Personality-wise, she is friendly and charming -- she likes to tease her younger siblings as well as hot people. She is definitely much more sociable, and pleasant to talk to in general. Her theme colour is dark green mostly, and I want her to have very earthy tones, although she likely usually dresses in black and white and is quite practical about the types of clothes she wears.

I also want to design a younger son (4-6 years younger than these two) who may be named Ceres who is heavily doted on by the rest of his family for being the baby. He would have a very chill, nonchalant personality and probably be some sort of driver. 👀 Maybe I will draw him soon. I imagine similar to his sisters, he has a cool colour palette -- likely dying his hair purple, and his eyes will likely be green. Or for funsies he could have heterochromia and have 1 green eye and 1 brown eye who knows XD I'll figure it out when I design him. I want him to be very catboy like and quite similar to his father so that they'll be like yup... that's his son alright.

Well but you know this is self indulgent IDK if they'll be allowed/ get to have children :') But it would be Lei's dream so who am I but a vessel to portray my OC's wishes.

context: gw2 released a new expac, i'm having feelings about my comfort game, where cass has an au, so this happened. it's set in the first expac, heart of thorns, but it's not spoilery, except for the name of the main enemy, which isn't that big of a spoiler/secret anyway.

Yeah, this might just be the strangest Mordrem she’s seen in her life. His bark is a deep green, and in the dying light of day, the high points of his sharp face are starting to glow a bright red. Red horns grow between strands of red foliage, long enough to reach his waist. Red, blood-like patterns splash his neck and go down his chest and lower, hidden by the torn, leafy clothes.  But what she focuses most of her attention on are his eyes - dark red, glowing, with unsettling, golden irises. And when he notices she’s watching, they turn to her, unblinking. Then his eyes widen. “You’re one of us!”  “I am not working for Mordremoth,” Renira explains cooly.  “Obviously not, I’m not fucking stupid, but what I meant is, you have magic like us. Like me. I’d wiggle my fingers to make an illusion or two but your ridiculously harmless friends tied my fingers too.” A laughter, maniacally amused. “Is it true you people tie each other up for funsies?”  “For funsies?” Renira repeats. Bjornsdottir repositions herself and uses her free hand to slap him across the face. “Some people are aroused by being slapped too. I see you’re not one of them.”

Things I am learning from reading the The Mighty Extra light novel's first chapters

(and for a note for now and the future, Lyla refers to the transmigrated and currently unnamed heroine while OG!Lyla refers to the original Lyla aka Helene’s actual sister).

-at the start of the story, Lyla is 14 years old. Based on some implications in the manhwa, the current ages of the main cast by the time of the S2 finale is roughly:

Lyla: 19 years old (I’m assuming she’s also 19 in South Korea). in the light novel shes 20 years old so everyone else's ages are +1 in the light novel.

Helene: 23 years old.

Paris: ~24 years

Ellie/Daniel: >24 years old

Phillip/Fian/Rosalyn: ~19 years

Odelia is, I think, younger than Lyla so she’s: <19 years old

-The Empress is, off the bat, portrayed more sympathetically and motherly than in the manhwa. She’s still doing the same things but the word usage gives her a softer feel rather than a condescending one. Which might explain why the manhwa subtly takes her side despite making her an antagonist

-some info omitted in the manhwa I personally like knowing: Lyla on the day she transmigrated had her family going out to eat to celebrate her stepbrother’s accomplishments of getting into college

She also got accepted into medical school and was hoping to be celebrated too. The food she eats / the supplements she takes were the first signs of acknowledgment she got from them (and also were intentionally meant to murder her :/). And I gotta say: from this short reread alone i feel more connected to Lyla as a person than as a protagonist waaaah

-“Blonde beauty with green eyes” I’m sorry that’s the funniest description of Helene this novel could have given. It’s not wrong persay but now I’m suddenly getting bi vibes from Lyla which is a funny surprise (and now she gets to join Paris in the “they’re bi as fuck” club just for this comment alone, not to mention her saying Helene is “pretty” not 4 lines later).

-an interesting change:

In the manhwa, Lyla’s first memory of Helene is scrambled. She doesn’t remember much of that event and struggles to identify what happened, having been traumatized by those events as she thought Helene was trying to kill her (also Helene said a loooot more lines alluding to feeling hurt and betrayed). Also, it seemed like Helene was pinning her down.

Vs.

Lyla woke up to Helene crying over her. Helene called “her” name, making her realize she was in the body of Helene’s dead half-sister. It also seems like Helene was said to be standing over her instead of pinning her down. So, overall, there is a much greater impression that from the beginning Helene cares deeply about Lyla instead of being mistaken for trying to hurt her 

I do adore the manhwa’s take on the story more (and how much more obfuscation it adds to Helene’s character and her relationship with OG!Lyla/Lyla) but there’s something kind of sweeter about Lyla’s first impression of Helene being that Helene was crying over her dying instead of trying to hurt her

-Order of the Royal fam siblings (for funsies bc even I dont keep track):

Helene = first princess

Tyrone (aka Helene’s fully blood-related brother tho the manhwa plot has somehow never had them interact OTL) = 3rd prince

Lyla=4th princess iirc?

Odelia=7th princess (also iirc)

Might update as I go along bc I love how he narrative says there is “39” siblings to Lyla and only 5 of them ever show up lmao

-ngl from the first chapter alone I’m adoring all this additional context that was left out of the manhwa story. I feel like the manhwa took the base ideas posited here and added a lot of depth to them but there’s also stuff the manhwa leaves out that would’ve been nice to leave in (such as Lyla getting into medical school and wanting to be acknowledged for it, which honestly makes it feel worse that her family is as horrible as they are).

-oooooo the main plot of the original story happens when Lyla would’ve been 20 years old. She’s 19 now in the manhwa. I wonder if that’s going to come up in the manhwa~

-I still find it funny af Helene is called the Emperor of Belliana instead of the Empress because if she takes on a lover (*coughs*Paris), does that make him the Empress? Or would he be called an Emperor too? God I hope the plot answers this

-“…3 dragons attacking Helene” *squints* 

I’m going to presume that actually says “3 dragons pursuing Helene” unless in this interpretation Fian wasn’t as sane as in the manhwa’s tale of the original story im from the future and i am obligated to say this line could honestly go either way

-some more details about the original story:

=original plot happens in one year from where S2 left off. Might explain why Lyla in the manhwa is glad all 3 dragons are getting along in one of the raw chapters (d-does she understand that Paris is as obsessed over Helene in canon as he is in the OG timeline tho?)

=Lyla read the novel a long time ago. Apparently, it caused massive upset in its reader base to the point many people started asking from refunds (presumably due to Fian’s death pissing people off I’m thinking).

=the original story was a complex political narrative (GIMME. I WANNA READ THAT STORY. GIMME GIMME GIMME)

-“Helene can make it rain on the entire continent” she can what. She’s that powerful? Jfc no wonder she’s deity-ified by Lyla 

-“Lyla’s death was the trigger for Helene to become celibate” t-that explains a few things, like why the manhwa implies Helene reciprocates Fian’s feelings yet never became lovers with him even up to his death (and why Lyla also alludes to the fact she feels guilty from taking Fian from Helene). Also explains why OG!Helene does not care for OG!Paris or OG!Daniel (esp bc they lusted after her from what I understood from the manhwa?)

-Ngl I really, REALLY hope there’s more stuff about Fian/Helene in here bc the original take on their relationship sounded really cute (and I love the irony of them loathing each other in current canon <3). Fian being lovesick for Helene and being the only sane dragon who wanted to do anything and everything he could for her (even if she never looked his way) is just ghfhvhbb that’s adorbs to me

-22 sons and 18 daughters. W o w. Jfc that’s a lot of kids even for one dude

-THERE’S MORE TO THE FUNERAL SCENE. HELL YEAH.

I think it takes place from the Empress’s POV? Basically stating that they’re glad Lyla’s dead so she doesn’t seek revenge? Also i think Helene is the one who puts a single white chrysanthemum on Lyla’s grave (and considering the Korean meaning of that is grief/lamentation I’m awwwwwwwWWWW about that)

-The implication that Lyla observed Helene’s actions in order to see if Helene was doing anything suspicious to her when she first woke up is an interesting thing to learn. Wonder if the novel is going to imply its Lyla who doubts Helene’s intentions instead of vice versa?

-the story also highlighting how Helene and Lyla are polar opposites (more so than it did in the novel) makes me :Dc.

-more on the Kylon Empire:

=the silver dragon whose heart fragment shows up in the plot took on a human Empress and was looked down upon by his brother dragons for it. Curious if the story will come back to this considering like it feels like a callback to the OG novel/Paris's situation to come?

=dragons are named after the color of their scales. Which I’m squinting real hard at based on how awakening as a dragon works but that might explain why Paris is called the Black Dragon, Daniel the Blue Dragon and Fian the White Dragon

-most interesting change so far is that Helene seems openly caring about Lyla whereas in the manhwa she’s an asshole towards Lyla. Not sure how I feel about that because I ADORED the manhwa making her antagonistic as fuck OTL. Tho I do wonder how that’s gonna impact Helene’s relationship with Paris bc I really enjoyed her antagonism towards him (and I hope she stays the way she is in manhwa canon towards him I’m BEGGING) also from the future and all i will say is my worries were not warranted regarding how she reacts to Paris

-“let’s all three of us be happy and never meet again” referring to Lyla, Helene and Fian is such a sad line waaaaaah

-Okay “Lyla” is definitely gay af for Helene and no I refuse to believe otherwise. She keeps describing Helene as pretty and lovely and beautiful and radiant and mesmerizing and doll-like and perfect like a goddess and do you see my point?

Dustin/Demix

☆Will absolutely suck down Barq's root beers. His favorite soda of all time. He's usually buying three 12 packs at a time because he truly does drink that much soda.

☆A sucker for sweet foods. He loves loves loves most chocolates, though he tends to lean more towards milk chocolate candies.

☆Absolutely an animal lover. Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, frogs, lizards, snakes, you name it, he thinks it's cute. He's always wanted to grow old surrounded by lots of animals.

☆Despite his love of most animals, insects and arachnids scare him. It's just something to do with having so many legs and feet that makes his skin crawl.

☆Is a true 90's baby, obsessed with Nu Metal and Indie rock. He's the dude who still has Nirvana posters everywhere in his room, and he swears up and down that he doesn't have a crush on Kurt Cobain. (He does, but who can blame him?)

•He loves to cook. It's his love language to feed those around him. If he never feeds you, he probably doesn't like you. If you mention having a favorite food you best believe this dude is gonna start cooking it for you ALL the time.

I think Asa's more dominant personality could actually help someone who struggles with taking care of themselves. He would make sure to help you in any possible way but without pushing you or making you uncomfortable. He doesn't mind taking care of someone he loves and he actually feels kinda nice when he knows you need him in more ways than just the plain boyfriend stuff. 

He is glad to listen to whatever you want to tell him. He enjoys stimulating conversations and having someone so passionate to talk with is actually exciting 

He would probably take you out on museum dates and then he takes you to a nice fancy cafe to have some coffee and pastries while you both talk about the paintings ecc
