Here's a couple posts i have that center around Xeno: <3 :D and here are the ones about his relationships! Xenodora 1 2 and one a small insight on his relationship with Lucius! ꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱₊˚⊹

The thing about Xeno is that isolation is a crucial part of his character! I've said before that he's basically in a maze and never wants to leave and when he does it's because of Pandora (when she dies, he takes Luna and hides further). He's alone with creatures and beliefs of his own making, the ghost of his wife dancing, the shadow of a "brother" in the corner, and his daughter's pale white hair as a mirror of the moon.

He doesn't connect with others outside of his family very well and even then he's kinda disregarded by everyone in his family except his mother, he was very isolated in Hogwarts, and even he and Pandora didn't get along very well initially. His views and eccentric thinking tend to throw people off balance and drive them away, he creeps them out, and sometimes he doesn't understand the line between being blunt or just straight-up rude (he's a bit tone-deaf). He's so in his head that he comes off as passive (derogatory) and spoiled/selfish by others.

That's also why I can't see him with anyone except Pandora (and maybe Evan), she'll always be the only person who can understand the way his mind works and I just can't see anyone else doing that (I'm sorry 😭)

My favorite HC of them is that they are genderqueer and very pretty! I mentioned before that Xeno loves white, they look like an angel and easily the brightest person you can pick out at a party! But that is before they run off with Pandora! When he was with his family, his white clothes were constantly replaced/cleaned when dirtied but now that he isn't with the Malfoys anymore, he likes to leave his clothes "marks of his thinking" (dirt/mud/blood from running around the woods) but it's also kinda meant to represent how lost they are now that Pandora is gone (the common trait of depression is lack of energy/motivation to do basic tasks)

I don't really have a least favorite since I'm open to a lot of things but one I just can't see is the age gap where Xeno is this way older guy than Pandora. Idk he's very childlike to me lol

He's very into sugary things! Gives him energy! He's like Regulus in that sense that they are inhaling cakes and candies whenever they get the chance! I like to think Lucius would shut him up with some grandma-esque candy from their fireplace when they were kids and Narcissa would catch him sometimes just sitting in the kitchens listening to him rant about something around him as he ate a cake in the middle of the night.

HE SHOULDVE BEEN A BIOLOGY TEACHER (he reminds of my bio teacher from last year actually lol) he bushes the boundaries of life BEYOND WHAT IS POSSIBLE HE'S LIKE LIFE JUST LIKE PANDORA!! THEY ARE BOTH CREATORS OF THEIR OWN WORLD THEIR OWN FAMILY!!

I think his biggest fear is Luna, since Pandora is already dead at a certain point, this possessiveness derives from fear. That's his daughter, the only thing left of his love, the only family they have now, his flesh and blood so carefully crafted together to form the most beautiful little girl with pretty eyes like her mother and moonlight hair. He isolates Luna with him in a maze of overgrown vines because it's the only way he's ever felt happy and maybe his daughter will be happy away from everyone too.

Maybe at one point, he feared the loss of his older brother but as he grows, he'll come to accept that he never had a brother in the first place.

And yes, I like the thought of him being Lucius' younger brother.

on a lighter aspect, Lucius and Xeno are def the brothers who go out to buy groceries in the middle of the night in their PJs

On the second part! I think the easiest character that comes to me is Regulus! I carefully had to work with his character for a couple months and even now I'm making slight tweaks but I'm pretty satisfied with him rn! (On the other hand, James is a weird one for me, the way I view him is very different from how others view him so I'm working on carefully drawing a line I can balance lol) (plus Barty, he's an odd one to write) but writing Bartylus is very easy for me! Their relationship is like the most normal thing about them so it's like writing a teenage romance lol (jegulus is pretty tricky for me to get down since they are complex for me) (But make no mistake I LOVE JEGULUS AND WRITING THEM it's so satisfying when I get the dynamic just right!)

i. WHAT. i would ask you to elaborate but i simply have no words so i wont. anyway could you please Talk At Length about ghostbusters the video game. i think that i and the x other people who follow you would enjoy it

ok, so something that you can't really tell (because i am a homestuck artist) is that i am a really big ghostbusters superfan. i had tried to emulate the gbvg stylized version once, but my old laptop was 10 years old and on the verge of exploding. so, it was running the game at a STUNNING 14fps, lol. impossible to play (on top of something else i'll touch on in a sec). then i got myself a new laptop, and ran the stylized version again because i couldn't find the regular one. i prefer the regular version over it, but it was the only one i could find that worked with my emulator! i had seen gameplay of it before (fun fact, entropicbias is a concept derived from this game! username lore), so i wasn't gonna complain. until i realized... that it is impossible to play without a controller. this version was made for the wii, and there are no versions of the stylized gbvg for pc out there right now that aren't 4 billion dollars. so i thought, ok, what if i try extra hard and find the original. after a long time of searching, i found the ps3 version of the regular game. tried that out despite the struggles from the last game; no luck. made it past the tutorial bit down with ray in the hq out of sheer chance, then i hit a stump in the sedgewick hotel. i think i found listings for the game on other websites, buuuuut...

fortunately for me, in 2019 they remastered the game (without touching the original gameplay, BOY!)

and you can currently buy it on steam. i've been pondering getting it, but it's roughly 30NZD (19-20USD), which i need to spend on other things. i might get around to buying it during my semester break, but right now i need the money for uni stuff. this is an amazing game, though. watching gameplay isn't as rewarding as actually playing it. it's especially nostalgic and emotional for ghostbusters fans because this game was the last time harold ramis portrayed egon before his passing.

in 2022 they made another game (ghostbusters: spirits unleashed) which kind of fills the void in a lot of peoples hearts with the lack of multiplayer with the remastered gbvg. it's a 4v1 where one player is the ghost and, surprise surprise, you're trying to catch him. i've heard that it's really difficult to win as the ghostbusters, but the levels in the game look AMAZING. especially the museum! i know you're going 'durhh what a snooze-fest', but LOOK

One Foot in the Grave, huh?

Amity Park knows about Danny's accident. It's talked about in whispers but the boy seems fine. A little shaken, a little quieter, but alright. Things happen right? Kids get into things they shouldn't.

There's no real investigation, no real concern. Life moves on.

The kids at Casper High know better.

Amity Park isn't terribly huge. They aren't small either, but some nebulous middle ground. There's two small elementary schools across town from each other, a central middle school and the corresponding high school. It's more than enough for the kids of Amity. The town stays pretty steady, population wise. There's not much expanding, not many new people.

It's quaint.

The kids know better than that, too.

Most of them have known each other since they were five or six years old. There's a few transfers, a few kids that were homeschooled young and then brought in. The point is, for all that Danny and his friends kept to themselves, they were still known.

And after Danny's accident, things were never the same.

Something changed. Beyond the shock of a near death experience, beyond the fickle swings of puberty.

Something was wrong.

And then it's clear somethings wrong with Amity too. There's ghosts all around, attacking. There's hunters, appearing out of no where. The Fenton's research is suddenly everywhere. Amity Park is haunted.

The kids at Casper High look at Danny and wonder.

Things change again when the kids realize that not all the ghosts are bad or evil. Poindexter just wants a friend, wants no one else to be bullied like he was. Some students start asking him for help on homework and he's thrilled. Catches up on the curriculum and seems to come to life. The bullies--even Dash--back off. It's hard to bully when looking into the face of a kid who never made it out of high school alive because of his own bullies.

Ember just wants her music to be heard and she is good. Once people are no longer brainwashed, people still listen. Her music ends up on the radio, there's mostly clear videos of her on the internet and no one's quite sure how.

There's more. Johnny 13 and Kitty, the Box Ghost, Youngblood and his crew, even Skulker are seen as less than a threat to the kids of Casper High. It's clear that even Phantom has a understanding with them.

It's one the adults don't understand. It's one they refuse to listen. The hunters aren't enough. They aren't stopped it, aren't keeping the children of Amity Park from interacting with ghosts. The GIW is losing government backing due to lack of progress and unfounded research.

The adults call in the Justice League. The Fentons fume at the intrusion, but hope that some official backing will help the kids of Amity Park see the truth. Ghosts can't be trusted, they can't feel, they can only lie.

When the Justice League arrives, they're faced with most of the population of Casper High.

The students will not let the League or the Fentons or any other ghost hunter harm what they don't understand. They don't completely get it either, these kids, but they do know it's too easy to belong to the Ghost Zone. It's too easy to die.

They look at Danny. They know. (not that he's Phantom, not that halfas exist, but they know his accident was worse than anyone would believe, that he's seen things they can't understand, that he sets off ghost hunting equipment.)

Amity Park's children stand with ghosts. They stand (quietly) with Danny.

We all have one foot in the grave, they say, would you hunt us? Would you look at us and call us fakes? Would you believe your equipment, this untried, untested, unreviewed research?

The JLA has no idea what they just stepped into, but it's clear these kids aren't giving up a thing.

It's equally clear neither are the adults.

so this video was interesting to me for a lot of reasons. i definitely liked it more, i think, than tommy and foolish's but i think that's also bc so much more happened.

first off, i think the girls did excellent for their first investigation. they weren't too freaked out, even tho they had every right to be, and i liked their overall presence in the video. they seem pretty cool :)

now… as for the place they went to….

ngl, it seemed a bit freaky, for sure. i'm a little confused how all of the documentation of a place can be burned and yet ppl still know everything about it, but i digress lol

god knows there's probably some stuff that slipped thru the cracks and found it's way into history books.

i think the main issue i had with this video is the lack of physical evidence. i'm not one to discount other ppl's experiences. i believe them all when they say they felt something was there, or was watching them, or they saw something that the camera didn't catch. i'm not gonna argue that.

what i am gonna argue is this: if you truly feel like you are hearing things when no one else is, feeling touched or pressure on your body…. leave. step outside and center yourself. and if it seems to be a reoccurring issue, don't stay there. i feel terrible for niki bc she was getting the worse of it. but girl… walk outside. there's no way i would be chilling in a set of caves allowing ghosts to cop a feel for an hour lol i would be such a bitch about it, they would want me out of those caves asap.

but she's nicer than me so i get why she stayed.

i just feel like in places like that, where it's mostly feelings rather than evidence like devices going off, it becomes an echo chamber. one person freaks out, and bc you care about them, you start freaking out as well. and so on and so forth. and i think that's why investigations that take place in those type of locations, you need to have some form of grounding exercise or something that can center you. and not just being saged outside before walking in.

i always carry or have on two crystal necklaces that i've had for years now. i don't even know if they're real crystals, but bc they make me feel at peace, i make sure to always have them with me regardless. and i think bc none of them had anything like that, things spiraled very fast.

hell, i usually have my crystals on when i do tarot, let alone if i went into a place like this.

i don't fault any of them (except maybe snc bc they should know better by now) for not knowing what to do in situations like this. i can only imagine how fucking weird it must have felt.

the only point i want to argue is that when they were talking about "oh i feel this pressure on my chest, like it's hard to breathe"…. you're hundreds of feet down in the earth. that's gonna happen. the air in the caves is probably from the 1800s. literally body juice (ew) is leaking into the caves. it's not the healthiest air down there.

but aside from all of that, i think the video was really good. the estes methods were both interesting and creepy all at the same time. i hate when colby did the estes method and it was all sexual and pervy… no thanks. i also DESPISE that colby went into a trance for a minute when they went down into the lowest part, or hell. absolutely FUCK NO BABYYYY lol

i think the medium/guide they had was an interesting character, and i feel bad that she felt so emotional towards whatever was following them. also, it was very weird to see something want to attack colby, bc that usually happens to sam. so… i wonder why that was the case. but i have an idea as to why that happened (i'm gonna be answering an ask that talks about it in case you want to know).

overall, great video. enjoyed the collab. maybe if snc are in the uk again, they can collab with niki and gee. can't wait for the next video, which should be daz !

1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?

i'm a default girlie i have to admit! my most recent WIP is in...helvetica...because i had computer problems and wrote most of it in text edit on the family home computer, but usually i use the word default calibri. i am so used to calibri (which i do also find endearing bc i always picture a little hummingbird bc...colibrí) now that i enjoy it, but any pretty neutral font will do in a pinch. (though over my dead body will you catch me writing in times new roman for fun!)

7. What is your deepest joy about writing?

oh bro.......... okay the word joy in this context is making me think about zadie smith's essay about joy which meyeri over on ao3 shared with me and is truly so good but i don't know if i have the ability to talk about her definition of joy in this context so i'll stick with the typical idea!

anyway i think a big one is when i write something that feels resonant? like i feel something in my chest and it ends up on the page and then it feels like i could tap that baby like a gong and it would make a sound that's beautiful to me. and then being able to return to words that my younger self wrote and feeling the echoes of that? and then hearing from other people that they felt their resonance in their chest? hearing that it maybe resonated with them in a hard time? yeah that's a joy. tapping little gongs.

but also i enjoy the fuck out of what's essentially having an on-paper conversation with myself full of goofy jokes that make me smile!

10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?

oooooh. ooh.

this is a whole what constitutes haunting moment!! like!! in a sense i'm haunted by everything i've ever read just like i'm haunted by every single person i've ever known. but if the haunting is in the actively repeated, if haunting requires repetition and conscious awareness of that reoccurrence, then...well, i'd still be haunted by a ton of shit. i love to reread and i have a bunch of books that i'll think about for years after i've read them, you know?

but is haunting more than repetition, than lingering? does it ask something from you or need to instill something? does it bring a lack of peace, of completion? i don't know.

i think for my own writing the stories i would say that haunt me are the ones that i never finished. which i have a lot of!! i have hundreds of thousands of words of stories unfinished, both incomplete published works and ones that never made it to that stage. and for a lot of them i had ideas for how they would go, so they're chilling like ghosts in the hard drive, their endings known but unspoken.

39. What keeps you writing when you feel like giving up?

honestly, breaks? like, i did 17 years of homework. i hated it. i was dragged (and for the latter half, doing a fun little mitski bit of being both the dragged and the dragger) through it kicking and screaming. my writing for fun can't be anything close to that because i literally get a clog of panic in my chest! so i don't let it be.

if i'm not feeling like writing, if it feels too hard, i'll stop for a while. i'll do other stuff. i know that at some point (probably the next time i have an important chore to be doing lol), i'll get the urge and the fun back! and it's for me, so there's no deadline. god bless

My WIPs

I have 3-ish WIPs atm:

Puppylove 1-2

The main active one is a sequel to my published 1st draft/novel, Puppylove. The first book is about the main characters Alejandro and Fetcher meeting and starting to date and Fetcher's family drama and how Ali helps him deal with (or rather, run away from) it. The sequel is about Ali taking Fetcher on a trip to a vampire party (he is a vampire, Fetcher is a werewolf) and meeting Ali's dad and essentially book 2 is about Fetcher helping Ali deal with his family issues, except this time they actually deal and don't run away instantly!

After I finish working on the outline of book2 I'm planning to go through book 1 and pretty much rewrite it to reflect my current skill level. The story itself won't change much, just wording and I will add depth to the characters if needed. That's it.

Spirits and Bleach

The project I was working on before this was Spirits and Bleach; my first attempt at dabbling in mystery novels. It's a story about Bleach, a witch/exorcist who gets roped into investigating a murder with a random ghost they find and who at first thinks he developed a crush on them, but they end up in a QPR by the end and travel the world together. I have an outline and I started writing it out but burned out, and I don't know atm if that is because the outline was lacking or if I just needed a break from the project. I can't wait to get back to it tho, I love Bleach and I can't wait to show their story to the world.

Dino People

My 3rd project is known as DinoPi, or Dino People. It's a mess. The general point is that it's a fantasy world, maybe or maybe not with futuristic technology, where people can turn into dinosaurs. That's all I know lol. Originally it was sci-fi and the dinos were a science thing, then it was magic. Originally the story was a romance taking place in a civil war, where a spy sneaks over the border and falls in love with a good Christian boy who arrests him for sneeking over said border. Now I'm thinking of changing the genre entirely to something else. I had written like 10k words of the original plot before I got stuck and had to scrap it bc I simply had no ideas for the story. I wanted the leads to kiss, but they hated each other. I don't do enemies to lovers, I'm not skilled enough yet to make it not sound abusive. Now I'm toying with the idea of the story starting with them married and about to get a kid. Yesterday a friend asked for an idea for a movie poster to draw and I wrote down this idea:

"Well since I'm kinda stuck on the dino theme, I had an idea of the vocal point being a dude either leaping through the air to catch a falling laughing baby or holding said laughing baby in one arm and holding a gun in the air with the other, a lil like that example with how he holds the lady, and in the background are dinosaurs fighting."

Concept: Bruce wants a baby and Joker ends up being the cool spy dad bodyguard protecting the baby from bad guys (the baby is special or something. The concept is silly already so just go with it, make it stupid)

When it comes to representation, I want to do my best to bring in diversity. I mean, even if it weren't just the moral thing to do (which it is), it's just good writing to have more than one type of character and perspective. Hence, I have the following intentions/plans for these WIPs:

Puppylove: have ace rep through Ali and auDHD rep through Fetcher. Also, Ali is black and has lived for two centuries in a world with a history similar to ours. I want to have a realistic approach when it comes to his trauma from the shit he has had to see, but I'm not going to promise any specific themes. I'm as white as can be and a lot of this will be dependent on how willing of a sensitivity reader/person who will smack me if I do a stupid I can find. Applications are open btw.

Spirits and Bleach: have ace aro and nb rep with Bleach and I'm not yet sure what their friend might bring to the table, but I sure know he isn't straight lol.

DinoPi: As I said, the story is a mess, but I have for the longest time known Joker has some sort of a disability that causes chronic pain. My thought has been he is an ambulatory wheelchair user. I don't have personal experience with this, but I have a friend who is happy to help me with the chronic pain part at least.

General gay rep you can always expect since I seem to be incapable of writing anything that doesn't have at least one gay dude in it.

Pokéchronology, Volume I: Yellow

Day 14 (FINAL DAY)

It's time.

Today is the day that I beat Pokémon Yellow, marking the end of the first volume of Pokéchronology. It's been a while since the last update. I've been busy and I wanted to make sure I had the time to push all the way through to the end of the game for the final post. I haven't yet completed the Pokédex, in fact I'm decently far away from accomplishing that still. But covering that in Pokéchronology doesn't seem quite right. There wouldn't be much to say about it, it's just running around catching Pokémon that I don't have yet. Maybe I'll talk about it in a generic blog post later on. In any case, I'm done with Pokémon Yellow for now.

For those of you who have been reading this series, what did you think of the first volume? What things do you think could be improved, and how can I make this series more interesting going forward? I have some ideas of my own, but I'd like to get some feedback so that I know what works and what doesn't.

With that out of the way, here's what happened. The final spoilers for Pokémon Yellow that you'll ever hear from me (probably):

Elite Four

Well, this is it. Time to run the gauntlet. I gather all the healing items and Elixirs I can muster up, with some X Specials and X Accuracies for good measure, in case I need them. I also use up all the vitamins I had stored away: two Calciums and three Carbos for Holy, and two Proteins for Mycoboss. I'm as ready as can be, without buying a ton of stuff or leveling up more.

Lorelei

The first challenger is Lorelei, the Ice type specialist. With Holy in front, this battle shouldn't be too difficult. She opens with Dewgong, who I swiftly dispatch with two Thunderbolts. Next, Lorelei sends out Cloyster, who is dealt with similarly. Her third Pokémon is Slowbro, who is not Ice type, but once again falls to two Thunderbolts. Jynx, her fourth Pokémon, proves to be a bit stronger against Holy due to her lack of weakness. I wasn't sure what moves she could use, so I kept in Holy to play defensively. Thankfully, Jynx doesn't have much HP, so three Surfs are enough to take her out.

Finally, Lorelei sounds out her Lapras, who takes three Thunderbolts to defeat, and the battle ends without me ever changing Pokémon. Her Pokémon were surprisingly tanky, but none of them were especially threatening either. It's kind of weird to me that one of the Elite Four is only packing five Pokémon, like come on. Take off the kiddie gloves already, I can handle trainers with full teams at this point.

Bruno

Moving on, the next of the Elite Four is Bruno, who again... has only five Pokémon. He opens the fight with an Onix. Lol. Lmao, even. Hitmonchan also fell to one Surf from Holy. I get that they're Fighting type, but god damn their Special is shit if they can't even survive one non-super-effective move against them. Hitmonlee is the same, although Hi Jump Kick does a lot of damage to Holy and they used Double Team, so Holy missed the first two Surfs before one-shotting them. After that is... Onix again? Really dude?

Bruno finally brings out his Machamp, so I decide it's time to bring out Miles and destroy them. For some reason, Bruno uses an X Defend. He did that on his other Pokémon too. Come on, dude! That's not going to save you from a 90 Base Power Special move with STAB and super effectiveness against your Pokémon! Long story short, I OHKO'd all of Bruno's Pokémon. Damn that was disappointing. But I suppose I should have expected that from the guy who only uses Rock and Fighting types in his team.

Agatha

Maybe Agatha will be more of a challenge. At first she looks like a Ghost type specialist, which should be interesting... except the only Ghost types in Generation I are the Gastly line, which are also all Poison type. Anyway, she sends out ya boi Gengar, who can really take some hits, even from Miles. But all Agatha does is spam potions while I spam Psychic moves and eventually take out her Pokémon. Next is Golbat, so I guess Agatha's more Poison specialist than Ghost, and I switch to BIG RAT but she immediately switches out Golbat for Haunter. Thunder does a good chunk of damage but I quickly switch back to Miles to finish them off. Golbat is back, takes one Psychic to defeat. Then comes Arbok. I could Psychic again, but instead I choose to have Prinzessin take care of them with Earthquake.

Down to her last Pokémon, and guess what? It's ya boi Gengar again, but this time they know Psychic for some reason. Whatever, Miles go brrr. Man, Poison types kinda suck don't they? At least against my team, they do.

Lance

The last member of the Elite Four is Lance, a Dragon specialist, who's poised to be the greatest challenge yet... I'm kidding, he starts with a Gyarados who hits Holy with a Hyper Beam. Really spicy move, but now Holy attacks, and Gyarados has a quad weakness to Electric. Surprisingly, Gyarados TANKS it with a sliver of HP left, but now they're Paralyzed and Holy outspeeds them to finish them off with Surf. Here come the actual Dragon types: Dragonair. Gets one-shot by Ice Beam, oops. Then Lance sends in another Dragonair, and you don't have to wonder what happens to them.

Aerodactyl on the other hand is a little spooky. I don't know what moves they have and they outspeed my entire team. The first move they use is Fly, so Aerodactyl dodges Holy's Ice Beam. I switch to BIG RAT to tank and hopefully deal some damage, but Aerodactyl is still faster, so BIG RAT eats a Hyper Beam and faints. Back to Holy, I manage to land the Ice Beam and it OHKO's Aerodactyl. Lance's ace is Dragonite, which does a fair amount of damage with Fire Blast as I heal up Holy to take them out. Once again, a single Ice Beam is enough to defeat them. Ice may not be a very strong type overall, but when it's strong, it's STRONG. Ice moves are pretty powerful, man.

The Champion

The Elite Four defeated, there's only one trainer standing in my way before I become the Champion myself, and that's Gary.

I knew I was more than capable of handing his team by now. That much was made clear in my last battle with him, so even with his team at their strongest, there's not much they can do to stop my.

The battle begins with Holy versus Sandslash once again, and Sandslash is too slow to do anything before Holy's Surf drops them.

Alakazam is next, and they prove to be somewhat formidable. Mycoboss does good damage still, but it takes three Leech Lifes to fully deplete Alakazam's HP. Unfortunately, Alakazam kept spamming Recover, resulting in a stalemate, before they get a cheeky crit and one-shot Mycoboss with Psychic. Well, time for my backup strategy: physical Mr. Mime. Miles Body Slams his way to victory.

Exeggutor is much more tanky than Alakazam though, so Body Slam spam doesn't work as well against them. I could switch to Holy here and probably one-shot Exeggutor with Ice Beam, but I didn't for fear of potentially dangerous Grass moves. Instead I choose to revive Mycoboss. They duel Exeggutor and eventually emerge victorious, despite Gary's use of healing items and Hypnosis spam.

Oh, hey Cloyster old buddy! They're literally weaker than Lorelei's Cloyster, what the fuck. Can't even survive one Thunderbolt.

Ninetales comes in and Fire Spins Holy. With Holy being unable to move, Ominous is the obvious choice. Ninetales barely survives a Hydro Pump, leaving Ominous to finish them off with ease.

With all but one of his Pokémon soundly defeated, Gary has no choice but to accept his fate. He can't beat my Pokémon. Despite being 15 levels ahead, having a super effective move at his disposal, and a massive speed advantage, Jolteon has no chance against Prinzessin. The fight ends with a single Earthquake.

Ending

And there you have it. Gary is in disbelief at his loss. Professor Oak comes along to tell him how shit he is and that he lost because he didn't love his Pokémon enough. Very supportive! I'm congratulated on my victory and admitted to the Hall of Fame, where my winning team is shown off one by one, in all their glory. I watch the credits, and it's revealed that I beat the game with a total play time of 47 hours and 9 minutes; just under two real-time days.

But this is not where it ends. There is still one thing left to do...

Cerulean Cave

That's right, it's time to beat the postgame dungeon and catch Mewtwo, the true final challenge. I get organized and set out for Cerulean City. There's one trainer that I missed just past the entrance to Cerulean Cave. You need Surf to get to her anyway so it's not like it would have made sense to come here before now. Before entering the cave, I ensure that I have the Master Ball in hand, as I will likely need it to catch Mewtwo.

Now we enter the dungeon. Cerulean Cave appears to be somewhat maze-like, but in reality there's only one path to follow with a plethora of items tucked away in corners and secret spots. Most of them are Ultra Balls, Max Elixirs, or Full Restores, but there are also several PP Ups here. I used one on Holy's Ice Beam, one on BIG RAT's Thunder, and one on Prinzessin's Earthquake.

While progressing I fight a lot of wild battles against powerful level 50+ Pokémon. There are a few that I hadn't caught yet, so I made a point of catching as many as I could. Got a Ditto named Ittledew, a Venomoth named Mothra, Danksta the Gloom, and Bleleleh the Lickitung. Not much else goes on, it's just a straightforward path to the end of the cave.

Mewtwo

Enter Mewtwo, the true final boss of Pokémon Yellow. They're level 70 and EXTREMELY powerful. Now, I could just toss the Master Ball and call it a day, but I decided to try and catch Mewtwo the old-fashioned way, as if I had used the Master Ball on a Pokémon already.

My first thought was to send in Miles to do some tanking and try to Paralyze Mewtwo with Body Slam, but Mewtwo takes out more than half of Miles' HP with a single Psychic, and that's saying a lot. I don't think any of my Pokémon take less damage from Psychic moves than Miles, which is kind of a problem.

I figure Mycoboss can at least do some damage, having a super effective move and a high Attack stat, but Mewtwo uses Barrier and Leech Life barely makes a dent in their HP. Things aren't looking great here. I have to disable Mewtwo because they're just too strong, so Spore time it is. Mewtwo recovers and undoes what little damage I had dealt to them before, but I try to make this a war of attrition with Sleep and Leech Life. It doesn't work, and before I can put Mewtwo back to sleep they one-shot Mycoboss with Psychic.

Being in a tough situation, I figure what I need to do is get Mycoboss revived to put Mewtwo to sleep again, and switch to someone else to deal damage. I had Miles pop back in to take the fall while I used my turn to revive Mycoboss. Miles doesn't get KO'd, so I switch to Mycoboss and they manage to survive long enough to land the Spore. From there I switch to Holy to deal as much damage as I can with Ice Beam.

I manage to drain Mewtwo's HP enough that I can start trying to catch them now, but I need to put them back to sleep. I heal up Mycoboss, tank Mewtwo's attacks again, use Spore, and start spamming balls. It's only a matter of time before the Genetic Pokémon is caught, thus ending the battle, completing Cerulean Cave, and completing Pokémon Yellow.

Some Final Thoughts

As my first experience playing traditional Pokémon, I found Pokémon Yellow to be surprisingly enjoyable. The game is overall very easy, though there were some moments where I felt the difficulty was decently balanced. I was worried I'd find the game barebones and archaic, but instead I was surprised by the amount of depth and intrigue that this little Gameboy game had. Satoru Iwata really was the GOAT for making this game possible. RIP legend.

Pokémon as a series really rewards you for good thinking and knowledge of its mechanics and intricacies. Adapting to its challenges and figuring out how to overcome unexpected difficulties, turning the tide of a battle is very satisfying. It's a very cerebral game at times, and I was thoroughly entertained by its problem solving aspects. I was never really bored at any point during my time playing.

Like I mentioned in previous updates to Volume I of Pokéchronology, there were plenty of things that irked me about Pokémon Yellow. Most of them are technical limitations, but there's nothing that can be done about them. From a game design standpoint, Pokémon types are pretty unbalanced and some the Pokémon themselves just get completely shafted by this.

Psychic types specifically are way too strong thanks to the Special stat determining both damage taken and received from Special moves, and their sheer effectiveness against a huge percentage of Pokémon in Generation I. This isn't helped by the relative weakness and small move selection of the Bug type, the only real counter to Psychic. The only reason Bug still performs decently against Psychic is that most Psychic types have garbage Defense and HP.

But ultimately, none of Pokémon Yellow's faults really soured my experience, as it's very possible to work around them and build a team that's prepared to deal with anything. I'm very much looking forward to the next game, Pokémon Crystal, and my journey through the Johto region. I imagine it will be even more entertaining as it ramps up the complexity with a host of new Pokémon, new types, and new mechanics.

Expect the debut of the next volume of Pokéchronology soon. It will be much longer and hopefully more interesting than the first.

what a coincidence you mentioned legends arceus, bc i picked that up last week 😅 i really like that i can craft items in it! running for my life from pokemon is new and terrifying. filling out the pokedex is gonna be a major pain since i have to catch mons multiple times per entry, but it's nice that i dont have to battle every single one.

as for scarlet & violet, i picked sprigatito for my starter, bc its obviously the best & correct choice. my bf went with fuecoco.

the future & past mons are a cool concept. i mourn their absolutely ridiculous names though lmao. ceruledge is by far my favorite from this gen (go funky ghost knight, go), but i find the shiny version lackluster 😔

shiny hunting is a lot easier too - i actually stumbled across my first two in one day by chance :)

i was disappointed in the fact you can't really change your outfit much beyond the 4 seasonal school uniforms. i do like that none of the accessories or hairstyles are gender locked & that the uniforms are gender neutral, though.

in spite of its various bugs & glitches, i really like sv. the story is very charming and i totally didnt tear up a bit at the end haha. i havent completed a pokemon game since xy - i haven't really felt the need to. after a certain point, collecting gym badges started to feel tedious rather than fun and exciting, but these newer games have just enough oomf to keep me engaged. i may end up picking up swsh or lets go after i finish arceus 😊 or "borrow" them from my boyf for a time lol

Treasure. What is something they like/love? What a complex question. Does this mean, physical objects, hobbies, ideas, there are plenty of things that someone can love that can't be seen? That's a big net of things. (Ignore me being needless analytical)

Hmm, even though Yume thinks Crowely is a kook, I think they really REALLY appreciate the fact that he gave them the ghost camera. At the beginning it kind of gave them purpose and something to do in this world they know nothing about. In a way I think it kickstarted their desire to learn more about the other students and the history of NRC and TwistedWonderland. Which later fuels their motivation to privately research their own way to get their brothers home and find out why they're here.

To them I Think the Ghost Camera is the key item that help kick start their journey.

Laughter. What is their sense of humor, or lack thereof? (Bonus: What does their laugh sound like?)

Yume's sense of humor is all over the place. Their quick witted and fast to turn a phrase and they tend to make jokes even in somewhat serious situations. They can sometimes have a very dark sense of humor and when having a rough time they turn to gallows humor or a self-deprecating joke. (They learn overtime that there is a time and a place bc it can actually make people uncomfortable.)

They have so many inside jokes with each of their friends, especially their brothers. I imagine that once the first year gang catches wind of an inside joke of the Ramshackle bros, it just spreads through the group like a plague.

(One in particular that me and Bun laugh about is kinda of like the meme "Phrasing" but instead we say "Pause". We write a lot and when you do, certain phrases that sound innocent can also sound sus. That's when you add "pause at the end" Example: Yuuhi: Vil got on my case when I told him that all I ate was meat. Yume and Yuuta: Pause. It's extra funny to me when the person just continues talking like nothing happened lol. Also I imagine Jack get embarassed over the pause joke all the time.)

They are also a memelord. They make memes in canon and share them with all their friends, especially Idia and Cater.

Their laugh can vary from, snorts, to giggles, to cackles and wheezes. It depends on how funny they find a joke. If something is really funny they can be laughing for minutes! Until their sides hurt!

X Marks the Free Spot. ---->True Name. What is their name's meaning, origin, etc?

Originally I just called all the Yus, Yu, Yuu, and Yuuu. Respectfully to tell them apart, and eventually we went and searched for full names. Me and @bunnwich talk about how they don't remember their actual names and everyone just started calling them "you" bc they didn't have names. So they just took on the name and made it their own. Eventually choosing their full names themselves.

Yume has lots of different meanings depending on how its written. The different variations are: "dream", "try", "sprout"

Ume has a couple different meanings too! "plum", "love", "help someone".

So to me, (though I could be wrong bc Japanese is not my native language) variations of their name can mean phrases such as:

Plum Sprout

Dream

Try to love

Try to help someone

Help someone love

Honestly I chose Yume Ume bc the name sounded funny! And bc Yume meant "dream" (for their visions) and Ume meant "plum" it made me think of the purple in their hair!

But if you write them together I think it actual means “Delicious Dream". Which is funny bc I didn't realize it.

But I guess their name just really means "Dream Plum" to me.

Emily Rozio transferred from Mexico to Columbia. She is like a ghost to many simply because her mysterious background is like an empty book. Parts of Mexico knew her as a terrifying woman for anyone who crossed her path. Emily had very effective ways to gain information. Her lack of morals and willingness to do anything is what earned successful intel. Because if you can get them to talk keep using the methods.

In Mexico, most things were accomplished just as in the rest of Central and South America. Emily liked danger and the adrenaline rushing in her veins with each interrogation. After the success in Mexico, the DEA could use help from an unexpected face. Emily went in thinking a team would be under her. Emily kept to herself in the new apartment unpacking and getting everything situated. Visiting the office stirred gossip about who the woman is. Plus they could legally not tell Javier and Steve much about their new partner given her agreement in exchange for working with the DEA. 

Steve voiced his concerns about their new partner to Connie. How secretive the DEA acts. His wife gave him some advice over possible solutions and to be friendly. Today Steve walked into the office seeing the female hunched over her desk, cigarette in mouth with papers stacked high. Steve sighed watching her until seeing Javier out of the corner of his eyes. He turned around meeting Peña halfway down the hall. 

"Peña, I don't know about the new girl. The DEA is acting too d*mn suspicious about our new partner." Murphy looked at his partner. "She didn't even introduce herself. I guess it's up to us then."

Emily had noticed the blonde at the doorway and silently listened in to their conversation.

"Well, introduce yourselves then." She comments towards both men. Her eyes land on Javier. Emily knows a lot of rumors about Peña. "Talking about your partner behind their back isn't the best team-building situation." Her voice is short with little emotions detected but irritation. Emily had short black hair, a darker complexion,and deep brown eyes. " Let's start with you, Mustache." Emily glanced at Javier with a sharp gaze.

Javier knew that something was up as soon as he spotted Steve standing in the hallway outside their office space. Steve was staring at something, with a deep frown on his face that didn't even let up when he spotter Javier walking towards him.

The two usually commuted to work together in the mornings but when Steve had knocked on his door that morning, Javier had been in the middle of saying thank you and goodbye to last night's company so he'd called through the door for Steve to go ahead and that he would catch up later.

Now, he's wondering just what he's missed by being half an hour late.

Murphy lets him in on just that not a minute later when he strides over to Javier to walk with him the last distance back to the office space. It's about the new girl. Their new partner. Apparently, the mystery wrapped up in a riddle has finally arrived.

And apparently, Steve's suspicions about her haven't disappeared with meeting her. The idea of getting a new partner had rubbed Steve the wrong way right from the start. Especially since they had been offered next to no information at all about her.

"So let me get this straight. We're expected to partner up with a trust a person we know jackshit about?"

Javier still remembers the incredulous expression on Steve's face when they'd first found out. It's not unlike the one he wears now and the comment he makes is similar too.

They reach the doorway and stop just outside of it to quietly observe their new colleague, hunched over the desk. Javier doesn't have time to do more than take in her appearance before she looks up and speaks, clearly having heard Steve's earlier comment.

Javier meets the woman's gaze and he can't read what he sees in there.

Her voice and whole demeanor are bordering hostile and not quite what Javier expected as far as first introductions go. She has a point though. Talking behind someone's back perhaps isn't the best way to make a good first impression.

She levels Javier with her gaze again and more or less orders him to go first and introduce himself.

"Javier Peña," he tells her and politely holds out his hand as an olive branch. "Guessing you're our mystery partner. Welcome to Colombia."

Ok so I've been stalking your blog for the past couple of hrs after seeing your TadaAi posts (I'm drowning in the period drama that is this ship) and I find you ship Tododeku and rinharu (god i can't stand bakudeku and makoharu) and seems like we share a lot of our views on fandom and ships probably because we're older (I'm 22). You know, I think I’ve said it before, but when it comes to bakudeku, I at least understand what ppl hope to see there and why, but like.. it’s just not happenning. Also imagining Bakugou lovingly hugging Midoriya is just so OOC I start laughing all the time. And whatever ppl say, in any ship whether they’re enemies or rivals or anything, if you can’t imagine them being tender with each other, smth is not right in my opinion. Also once again, who needs idiotic bleating Midoriya, idk. I’m just tired of the endless “die, deku/out of my way” yelling, I like watching Bakugou going to parties and amusement parks and doing silly stuff, too. Like I’ve said before, pride won’t ever let him change the way he behaves with Midoriya, even when they’re doing “great”. If he was the one, it wouldn’t have mattered, no matter how tough you are, and it wouldn’t take that long. I also don’t think they’re that kind of relationship, like they move each other for sure, sometimes, yeah (not always in a good way tho), but be together in a relationships? Can’t imagine that. Like not all rivals have the rivals to lovers dynamic, no matter what ppl say. But I get the shipping, bc 1stly these two are playing too huge of a role in each other’s lives, 2ndly Midoriya is obsessed with him and Bakugou obsessed with him too (just in a bad way lmao) and 3rd ppl want that “enemies to lovers” dynamic, since many love it (me included, when it done right and progresses right), so they’re trying to write that “to lovers” bridge, that just doesn’t fit here in my opinion, simply bc Bakugou won’t be soft with Midoriya, like ever in a way, you’d want, and I don’t think it’s possible for them to go there.

Tododeku on the other hand, 1stly they also play too huge of a role in each other’s lives, 2ndly Midoriya is obsessed with him too and Todoroki is lovingly obsessed with him in return, 3rdly they are also rivals to lovers, and I have no problem imagining the second part, it won’t be OOC, 4thly Midoriya when he’s with Todoroki is my fav Midoriya, he’s happy, he is cocooned and he’s badass af (and like when he told Endeavor to fuck off or yelled at Todoroki “the fuck are u doing?” xD are still the best), 5thly Midoriya forgets about Bakugou, when he’s with Todoroki a lot and it’s just funny to me, 6thly they healed each other so nicely, I can’t not be into that, 7thly when they’re together I have like 0 worries, idk I’m like “he will catch him” anyways haha, Bakudeku just don’t give me this vibe. It’s like yeah, they won’t let each other die, but it’s always this chaos of “out of my way”, “I don’t want your help” and “let me punch you before I punch the villain” that I’m just “oh for god’s sake, pls bring in Kirishima and Todoroki so we could just go home, it could’ve been solved in 2 minutes” lmao. Etc, etc.

Tododeku just have too many winning points over bakudeku for me, same with kiribaku over bakudeku, even tho I 100% get bakudeku as a ship ofc. Also idk whether things would be different if Todoroki wouldn’t exist in the equation, but the moment I saw that s2 scene where Bakugou started yelling and Todoroki just ignored him and was like “was Midoriya always this good?”, there was no going back to me XD. Like they both obviously see that Midoriya is wonderful, but only one reacted to that in a way that I wanted. And I’m a sucker for the ships who don’t give a fuck and like “yeah, I find him amazing and everyone should know that”. Todoroki is also one of those guys, who if you give them the much needed love, they’ll return it tenfold with a forever devotion. And all of my fav ships are like that: Yullen, Rinharu, Mikayuu, Wangxian, Akakuro, etc. They’re like “well, I ain’t an idiot to let someone this precious go”, you know lol

JAMES BLAKE: ASSUME FORM. PITCHFORK IS PROFOUNDLY CONFUSED

Review of Pitchfork’s review: ASSUME FORM

In May 2018, James Blake released Don’t Miss it, a single that was met with praise and criticism. Similar to a dog wanting to piss on a fire hydrant, Pitchfork has put forth yet another opinionated/unsubstantial review. Lozano noted that there seems to be “two James Blake at play: The one who loves to party and the one who likes nothing better than getting under the covers of his weighted blanket.”He then later states that Don’t Miss it is another “beautifully brutal song to add to Blake’s catalog of sumptuous sad boy music.”

After this review came out, Blake tweeted this big thing where he basically says: (1) he could not help but notice that “sad-boy” is used whenever he discusses his feelings in a song. (2) states that this characterization is unhealthy and problematic when used to shame men whom are expressing their feelings, which contributes to the “historical stigmatization of men expressing themselves emotionally” (3) Blake states we are in a epidemic of male depression and suicide.

So let’s unpack this: what did Lozano get right? Or what did Lozano get really right? This line sums up Blake’s true talent and shows Lozano is not completely out of touch: “The song’s complexity, for better or worse, comes from how Blake plays with his voice.” Why is this review important, and why is James Blake’s response important and or relevant to Assume Form?

This review of Don’t Miss it, which is a track on Assume Form in a sense foreshadows what review was to come. However, one would think that this album would land differently after Blake’s vehement response to the review of the single Don’t Miss it, but once again Pitchfork apparently did not get the memo, and continued to put him in the SAD-BOY category.

You really begin to get the sense that Sherburne is profoundly out of touch when he states that the line “I will be touchable/I will be reachable,”sounds“clinical,” which leads one to ask the glaringly obvious question: did this guy even listen to this album or did he just look up the lyrics? Has this guy even listened to a James Blake song?? Clinical? WHAT KIND OF THERAPIST OR PHYSICIAN ARE YOU SEEING PHIL? (Phil, feel free to reach out and send over a contact if possible.) If a person were to read the line out loud in a monotone voice, was wearing a lab coat, held up a chart maybe?? Sure, I can see how he arrived at this conclusion, but what separates James Blake from other artists is his ability to infuse an ordinary line or phrase with a feeling/mood with his unique vocals, so no Phil this is not quite “clinical.” As your counterpart, Mr. Lozano had said: “The song’s complexity, for better or for worse comes from how Blake plays with his voice.”

Unlike, previous albums all centering around feelings of loneliness or alienation, Assume Form focuses in on intimacy and sacrificing one’s tendency to look inward for the sake of another person.

Let’s rewind to 2016 when The Colour in Anything came out, which Pitchfork rated an 8.2, in part, because we feel Blake is maturing when we look back at his older albums like “Overgrown.” We begin to see a new side of James Blake, a side of vulnerability. Even though, Blake showcases a more tender side in his music you still get that the overarching theme here, is isolation, while at the same time you can sense that Blake is more comfortable in that isolation, indicating Blake is more introspective. It feels like Blake has matured in more ways than one The Colour in Anything when considering his previous albums.

Assume Form comes out and it takes a whole different approach. Certainly, James Blake did not throw us a major curveball, but this is different than any other album he has come out with because he is in a relationship, and it is going fairly well. And for that, I would like to personally say: congrats James!!!!!! James Blake is no longer the guy who can’t believe his siblings aren’t speaking to him. He is blossoming into a developed human being right before our eyes.

As it has been noted in other reviews of previous albums, James Blake is no “lyrical genius,” this is known, put to bed, and dealt with, so please Phil, spare us on this one. Sherburn notes that “there is the skeleton of a different, more interesting album lurking beneath the surface.”

And sure Phil, ok Blake is a creative artist who has been experimental in his music and albums, so without a doubt this is not the last time we hear from “sad-boy” Blake, but he took a different angle, because he is in a different stage of his life. Please refer to the James Blake tweet about the “sad-boy” box.

Although, it has been stated on multiple occasions that Blake is no “lyrical genius,” it is important to note that Blake meticulously captures moments, feelings, moods, and experiences in Assume Form.

For example, throughout the album Blake highlights on a tension or a tug of war between Blake’s need for solitude and wanting to be in a relationship with this person. In Power On, he thinks he would be better off without this person and admits “I was wrong.” Letting go of one’s ego is a central theme in this album.

In “Are you in love,” is Blake asking “we good?” or “are we on the same page here??” It’s like going on a fourth date and everything going really well and you really like this person, but you make a joke self deprecating joke that doesn’t quite land with them, and is just kind of sad, because they were supposed to laugh and they didn’t and you are not going to laugh, so it is just silent for about twenty seconds too long and conversation then picks up and things go well. Obviously, you regret it, but since everything else went so well you think “OK things are good.” But even then, you are second guessing yourself and feeling like sending a text saying something like “yo, we good??????” or like “heyyyyyyy, lol was just joking earlier haha! Did not mean to get so dark whoooooops. Had fun let's do it again” But you decide not to because it is kind of weird and you should just shrug it off or play it cool, and maybe they will forget about it completely if you do not bring it up EVER. I can’t be the only one who as ever felt this way.

Moving forward, this is a vulnerable side of Blake. He capitalizes on the universal feeling of insecurity and the subsequent need for validation, especially in this time and age, where it is more common to feel inadequate and insecure than it is to feel in tune with another person.

“Don’t miss” it is a piece that underscores what you miss when you look inward.

”The world has shut me out/ If I give everything I'll lose everything/ Everything is about me/ I am the most important thing/ And you really haven't thought all those cyclical thoughts for a while?”

He continues to discuss the implications of looking inward:” And as it keeps going/ I could never be involved/ I could never really see in real time/ I could never be involved/ And as it keeps on going/ I could avoid real time/ I could ignore my busy mind/ I could avoid contact with eyes/ I could avoid going outside/ I could avoid wasting my life/ I could avoid/ I could avoid 20/20 sight”

Blake comes to the conclusion: “And as it keeps on going/ You forget whether it was the beginning or end/ When you can't believe your luck/ (When you can't believe your luck)/ You're with your friend/ When you get to hang out with your favourite person every day/ When the dull pain goes away/ Don't miss it (Don't miss it)/ When you stop being a ghost in a shell/ And everybody keeps saying you look well/ Don't miss it/ Like I did/ Don't miss it/ Don't miss it like I did/ Like I did”

Sherburn claims Andre3000’s verse in What’s the Catch “ humorous self awareness” is what the album lacks most of all. Yes Phil. Ok, I can agree that the album lacks humor, but the album certainly does not lack self awareness, and if “Don’t miss it” is not self-aware enough for you, I have one question for you. Would you like James Blake to physically remove his heart, and send it in a box to Pitchfork HQs?!?!? Blake is not blithefully in love, but rather, is grappling with himself and his ego, which is evidently his biggest obstacle in his relationship.

Sherburn is right in the sense that Assume Form is heavy, but what he gets wrong is that Blake’s album is not “stagnant,” but rather, quite the opposite. Assume Form reinforces the fact that Blake is evolving as not only an artist, but also as a human being.

Goblin ❣︎ 도깨비

Kim Shin, an undefeated war general, is ultimately killed by a jealous young king named Wang Yeo. After death, Shin is revived by the gods—but his revival is by no means miraculous. He becomes a 도깨비 (dokkaebi, goblin), and is cursed. He will have to pay for all the lives he took in battle by living alone in immortality, witnessing everyone he's ever loved, die. Remaining lodged in his chest is the very sword that killed him. There is only person who can see that sword, and draw from his heart so that he can finally rest in peace: his bride... whom he's yet to meet.

Chipper, yeah? Haha so, right off the bat, the premises of Goblin remind me of like, a much more morbid version of the legend of King Arthur. You know, a man draws a sword from stone to prove himself the greatest king in all of Britain? Yeah. Just to be clear: this is a good thing (imo). Like, I personally think this is just such a cool idea for a drama 😍

Let's jump right in. I'm gonna be honest and say that, at first, I felt a little turned off at the female lead, Eun Tak, being nineteen (in the beginning of the show), meanwhile the male lead, Shin, is 900+ years old (but physically looks to be in his thirties). It just... rubbed me weird. But hey, the Twilight series (both the books and the movies) is exactly the same—high school girl, century-old man, bananas yet somehow romantic storyline... And I loved me some Twilight as a young adult. So I mean, I have no right to judge, really. Plus, Eun Tak soon turns twenty anyway. So that's an improvement I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️ We follow her character into her late twenties, nearly thirty. So things are definitely fine by then haha! 👍

Don't let that previous bit make you think I didn't enjoy Goblin—I LOVED it. That detail is just a lil funky to me, is all. Back during my Twilight obsession days, I was nearly twenty myself, and the thought of being pursued by an older man was exciting. Hell, I mean, it still is! But now that I'm two years shy of my 30th Birthday, I feel differently sometimes. I think, LAWD get that girl away from that man, she too young for him LOL. I am definitely getting old... Enough about Twilight now, apologies! I'm only using it for the sake of conveying similarities seen in Goblin 🙏 Let's talk cast!

Kim Go Eun as Ji Eun Tak and Gong Yoo as Kim Shin

Eun Tak is a bubbly young woman with limitless energy! While still in her mother's womb, Mama Ji was involved in a hit-and-run incident which, sadly, took her life. During Mama Ji's dying moments, she prayed to anyone above that her child's life be spared. Sat on a rooftop from afar, beer in hand (lol), Shin hears her prayers, as he is a god of sorts. He appears before Mama Ji, and shows mercy to her unborn baby. Eun Tak grows up with the ability to see/speak to ghosts. Said ghosts tell her constantly that she is the goblin's bride. How do they know? A strange birthmark on the back of Eun Tak's neck tips them off. Eun Tak unfortunately was taken in by her abusive bitch of an aunt, who jabs Eun Tak every chance she gets. Her cousins are assholes. Eun Tak's aunt really only keeps her around in hopes of collecting Mama Ji's savings (intended for Eun Tak) one day. Sad, right? I mean, isn't Eun Tak being born without her mother enough as it is? Life can be so cruel 😔

Lee Dong Wook as Grim Reaper/Reaper/Wang Yeo

This is Grim Reaper (or Reaper for short), portrayed by the handsome Lee Dong Wook. His character is just this strange, not at all tech-savvy man with a constant deadpan facial expression. Said facial expression provokes so many giggles during funny moments, and drives home the longing and desperation during sad times. We learn quite a ways in that he, in his previous life (again, just in case: spoiler), was Wang Yeo G A S P ! The young king that is essentially responsible for Shin's death, as well as all the misdeeds that were done to Shin's family. Again, this is something I don't want to spoil. Well, more, anyway 😆 You gotta see it!

Yoo In Na as Kim Sun/Sunny

Kim Sun, or simply, Sunny (she loves to spell her name for people lol, S-U-N-N-Y!) is the second female lead. Yoo In Na is so gorgeous that one look at her makes you feel like such a potato hahhah. 🥔 This fact about her beauty bleeds over into the show itself—every time another character meets Sunny, the camera does this slow motion pan into her lmao. She really is that pretty! Sunny's personality comes across so odd at first... Having watched all of the episodes now, I feel the intention of Goblin's creators was to make her seem like a soul searching for something it has lost in a previous life. idk if that makes sense, but yeah. She has this way about her, like she's disconnected from others, and is sifting through the haziness to find this thing she feels she's lost.

Yook Sungjae (my BtoB bias 😍) as Yoo Deok Hwa

Sungjaeeee ahhhh 💘💘💘 I had to gush, sorry! Hehe. Meet Deok Hwa: unofficial nephew of Shin. Deok Hwa is a third-generation chaebol (heir to a family-owned corporation) and spoiled man-child, always seeking his credit card hahaha 🤣 But I love him so much. Between Gong Yoo, Lee Dong Wook, and BtoB Sungjae? Man, I'm dying over here! Deok Hwa's true identity is revealed later in the show, which if you haven't seen it yet, I won't spoil it. Just watch. But his ending sucked. Like where did he go? Everyone else's endings got tied up neatly except for his. What gives, man? 🤔 Edit: I was actually reading an online conversation about what happened to Deok Hwa online—someone jokingly said he was reincarnated as BtoB Sungjae LOL 💯

Good pace, episodes drag at times. A little confusing in the beginning, but you get there eventually. Maybe this is just me though, viewers who are a little more keen than I will likely catch on sooner ;) My mom was a little confused as well, and actually said at one point, "This should be called the 'what-the-hell-is-going-on' show," hahaha. Like I said though, we quickly moved on from this, and loved all the things. There are actually, I think, three (?) specials that were made to aid viewers in making sure they understand the complex events and relationships clearly. I haven't watched them yet, but want to!

Quite repetitive tbh, as there are unnecessary flashbacks often. Probably for two reasons: the obvious of reminding you what's what, but also to create suspense. Typical duration of most tvN dramas seems to be about 16 episodes, so it's possible these flashbacks and things are, for lack of a better word, filler. I don't know how rigid or lax tvN is about having a drama set at 16 eps, but I get the idea this is their preference. Seeing as so many of their programs on average last that long, I feel this must be what they want. Such has the potential to affect the writing, either positively or negatively.

A continuation of the previous bullet: I think Goblin's creators oversimplified the plot at times. I'm unsure if this is due to possible pressures to meet a specific requirement(s), or what. I'd rather forgo ALL restrictions and let creativity flow, let the story be told without pressure to fill a specific amount of time, etc. but TV production is weird. And contracts are weird. tvN might not to blame for these issues, could simply be that storytelling isn't always easy, man. I'm a writer myself, it's hard! I'M being redundant now lmfao! Anyway, yeah ~

Gong Yoo is always stellar at doing kiseu (kiss) scenes, and in Goblin, he does not disappoint. He really goes at it 🙈 which is preferred vs. the typical person kissing a stone statue that you see so often. He even did a lift kiss with Kim Go Eun that was reminiscent of THEE Coffee Prince kiss he did with actress Yoon Eun Hye! 😍

I never saw it coming, how the sword would wind up being removed from Shin's chest. I worried what the writers were going to do, how would they approach this, and just wow. The way things turned out is such a relief. It also told me that Shin's love for Eun Tak is true. I mean, I didn't need that scene to occur for me to know that, rather it just adds extra oomph that yes, Shin really does love Eun Tak. He didn't want her to suffer knowing she was responsible for his "death," so he thought quick and used her hands WITH his hands asdfghjkl. How dumb (bc noooo now you're gonna die) and amazing he is at the same time 💜

I love how Shin made his way back to Eun Tak after passing away, it was such a powerful scene. I could really feel his struggle, and kept yelling at my TV for him to stand up lol!

Devastated that Eun Tak died 😭 I really thought as many times as she'd cheated death before, she would somehow continue cheating death again and again for the rest of her days. But no... What a selfless person, Ji Eun Tak. Her being reincarnated as Park So Min gave me some closure. Not the closure I wanted, but closure.

The relationship between Shin and Reaper is ADORABLE. Whenever they interact with each other, they just have this great dialogue. Shin pings, Reaper pongs, Reaper pings, Shin pongs. It's great 😄 I still laugh about the slow-mo scene of them returning from the market with green onions HAHAHA 😂

I love Sunny & Reaper ~ However, their history as Kim Sun & Wang Yeo in their past lives is so very sad. I don't even know where to start RE: my feelings on this 💔 imo, their ending kinda sucked. I just wasn't satisfied with them having had this complicated, tragic story, only to be reincarnated in this fashion that I ultimately found to be just... idk, disappointing 😩 Again, closure, but not the closure I wanted.

I thought Reaper, the other grim reapers, the name cards, the depiction of what happens immediately following death with the brewing of the tea, the afterlife, etc. was all very creative. We really don't know what awaits us when our time comes—it's interesting to wonder if it's anything like it is in Goblin 🍵

Can't stop thinking about Goblin, even though I'm now watching Thirty but Seventeen & Mr. Sunshine! I'm emotionally cheating lol halp.

gosh i only now saw that you have human designs for the undertale cast and they look AWESOME!!! they looks so ... human for lack of better words. i love how you can actually see toriel and asgores respective ages, how energetic undyne still is, alphys spike hair, sans & papyrus (bc i actually share the headcanon about sans being albino lol), mettations lil tooth and the piercing in place of his bolts on neo, napstablook's hair mimicing their shape as a ghost gosh i am over the moon

I actually!! can't believe what I attempted to do really worked-- I was trying to translate the monsters designs to human the best as I could. Like, in a way that you can just look at them and immediately know which character is. My first tries on making them human just looked like someone totally different, ya know?
