Randy Hamilton from the soap opera Texas sings "Deep in the Heart of Texas" with a small child? Who is this small child. I want it to be a random child that they chose three minutes before turning the cameras on. Randy doesn't have a Wikipedia page! Sadness.

I love the crowd whooping it up for the cast of One 'Mo Time. I was wondering what was behind them --- I think it was the broadcast booth for host Ed McMahon! Just ... there with the saddest looking Woolworth decorations ever.

What a weird closing card (what do you call that?) for this Child World / Children's Palace commercial that aired constantly. Ok, the bear didn't fall on his butt? That was the best shot we could get?

For some reason Marilyn Michaels takes off her gloves while singing "Watching the Parade go Byyy". That couldn't of waited, Marilyn?

Todd Bridges sang a song about the Summer. I felt bad for Todd, he had no back up dancers, just dancing in the street. Was this a time filler? Loved the song!

A baby Glenn Close was there with the cast of Barnum. I feel like Ed is auditioning for the Star Search hosting gig with this parade. I love his energy.

I love the juxtaposition of Bryant Gumbel thanking the Museum of Natural history for letting people warm up in their building with Doodlebug.

Ed sang a song! When was the last time a host SANG.

Just for us Hampton Roads girlies, Busch Gardens of Williamsburg had a Loch Ness Monster float! It's still at Busch Gardens! The cast of Brigadoon was on the float.

Ed was trying to find a date for Happy Dragon. He said "I guess now that he's 21, he's free to go out in the evening and date whomever he chooses. So if you have an eligible dragon hanging around your house moping, we might be able to set them up and in the years to come, who knows how many dragons we might have in the parade!"

There was a float for everyone's favorite box office flop, Popeye! I think that's supposed to be Olive Oyl?!

1980 was electric football's year. It felt like it was the only toy advertised!

"Tonka's Bear in a Box! Everyone's favorite!"

Finally, a game that looks like one of my dad's vintage fire scanners.

Cowboys were HOT this year, due to the movie Urban Cowboy, and the TV show Dallas. Modern equivalent to this would be this past Summer's Western Barbie! We even had Dean Butler from Little House on the Prairie sing "Don't Fence Me In" while riding a tortoise. The Lone Ranger even showed up. Oh, and even the McDonalds commercial with Ronald was western themed.

While Snoopy couldn't fly this year due to a leg injury, we had Underdog.

Can we discuss how a station wagon is pulling a float. Later on, I saw an Oldsmobile sedan towing the float with the Spinners on it.

This beautiful phone store.

I feel like by the time we were growing up in the late 80s/early 90s, Kermit had more bad days at the parade than good, but 1980 was a good year for him. Just look at him.

Casper is over here looking like the baby from Ally McBeal.

Bob from Sesame Street sang a song while Bert & Ernie danced. Even Oscar liked the song.

Unfortunately, the entire parade isn't on YouTube. Looks like the recorder only set their VCR for two hours. One of the final things you see is Linda Ronstadt and the cast of The Pirates of Penzance. "I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major General" slaps.

my half fanon theory for me to not loose my mind to put together how the diner can be a point of null entropy and the crew's external bodies not changing (not aging) while they still go through entropic processes (memory formation, im assuming digestion, etc) is that they do age, but only when being observed. Caspar didn't age 100+ years because for the most part he wouldn't acknowledge effie or zeb, (if they were even there. maybe he couldn't get the radio to work for a long time) and it's like a wave collapse kind of thing. When an electron is observed (by humans, or any kind of optical medium) it 'knows' it's being observed and it's waveform collapses. it becomes a particle. This could be caspar. so if the three sisters thing happened after the 100+ of Not Remembering, his 'waveform' collapses, allowing him to form memories by Being Observed and Being Conscious, and Leif shows up not long after. We don't have any flashbacks of him, alone, quite yet. They're always with other people it's also worth noting since these guys are all older, they might not age as noticeably. it's been 4 years. David has also never pointed out that Casper looks. significantly. younger than he would have had he been on earth this whole time. they also might just be less stressed out (in certain ways!) with no need to worry about money and food (most of the time, at least), and they still do all have a good support system and people that love them, which can make tons of difference.

Casper looked up from where he had been piecing together various electronic components on his work desk. He was close to a breakthrough and he could feel it. Just a little more tinkering and pulling apart of circuit boards and he'd understand how to use his original HRA schematics to power a Resonance Amplifier that could nullify the effects of the Filters. All that remained after that was to make it compact enough to go unnoticed. So far, that was the hardest part.

Pressing his glasses up his nose, his brows furrowed lightly as he observed her. She kept it quiet, but Casper knew that look. She'd been through Hell. Real Hell; and while Casper didn't know all of the details, it wasn't hard to piece things together by looking around the base and listening to small cues. These were all the things he'd missed before with...

He couldn't afford to make the same mistakes again.

He'd been given a second chance to prove himself, to do something good with whatever time he had left. The world was in chaos, but this was how he'd gone to work every single day when working at the Bureau. They fought the monsters in obfuscated silence and kept the dangers and threats far beyond civilian lines. After the Bureau had inevitably succumbed to the Hiss, it was no wonder they couldn't be there to stop what had occurred, and even if Casper was the last one standing, he wouldn't let things get out of hand.

"Hope is-..." he drew out, turning to face her with his hands clasped together at chest height. "...i-important in times like these. Without it, neither of us would be here...would we? You gave me hope the moment I met you and...we've got to spread that to others now."

He licked his lips, his eyes drifting to the floor as he considered something. He took a breath and turned back to her. "There was an old code in the Bureau where I used to work. I-I can't remember the exact words that were used, but...e-essentially, it said that even when things seem completely hopeless, struggle through and you will find an answer." He paused for a moment, searching her face. "And I know we will."

He drew back, pocketing his hands in his lab coat. "All it'll take is hard work, but I can already tell you're not afraid of that..." He laughed at himself, looking over at his work bench. "...and neither am I." His gaze turned to her, warmer and friendlier. "But...we're not alone anymore. We're gonna figure this out. I promise."

Casper is a very pretty roaming action-adventure game. You take the role of Casper who has to make his way through the house solving puzzles and avoiding confrontations with his nasty companions (Never watched the movie so I have no idea what relation they are to Casper). The areas are pretty large so you won't be finishing them in a hurry which I would have said is a good point but to be honest it sort of bored me wandering around from place to place solving simple puzzles. However, I'm sure to the younger player this will be a fantastic game. Best of all this Japanese version (the Japanese version is a Sega Saturn exclusive, though in the West it was also available for 3DO, Game Boy Color, and PlayStation) has kept all the original English voices so even if you can't read what's going on, you'll be able to hear.

A very pretty-looking game that will probably appeal more to the younger player than someone in their late 20's and upwards. Oh, and being an American game the instructions are in black and white. Why is this almost always the case with US releases in Japan? Very odd.

Stephen Casper, Michigan inmate 297654, born 1997, incarceration intake December 2016 at age 19, discharged December 2021

Criminal Sexual Conduct

In November 2016 Kalamazoo County Circuit Court Judge Paul Bridenstine sentenced Stephen Josef Casper, 19, to 30 months to 20 years in prison on one charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one charge of assault with intent to commit second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Casper's defense attorney, James Kinney, called it "a very sad case" and said Casper, who Bridenstine noted had a history of drug use, had never been in trouble before due to illegal drug use.

"He must've been incredibly high to do what he did," Kinney said.

According to court records, Casper entered an apartment in Oshtemo Township around 4 a.m. September 5 2016 through a door that had been left unlocked for one of the alleged victims' boyfriends.

There, police say, he groped a woman who was sleeping on a couch. He then entered a bedroom and laid down on the bed, fondled a woman's breasts, kissed her and digitally penetrated her.

The woman turned on the lights and ran away, yelling for help, according to a detective's testimony during a probable cause hearing in Kalamazoo County District Court.

Police say three women in the apartment gathered in another bedroom and called police, and Casper took off his clothes and got into the shower. When officers arrived, Casper told them the apartment was either his or his cousin's, and that no women were there, even though the women were in the bedroom.

As part of the plea agreement, Casper will be on the sex offender registry for the rest of his life and also will wear an electronic tether for the rest of his life, according to his attorney.

"That in and of itself is a huge punishment," Kinney said.

Neither of Casper's victims were present in the courtroom during his sentencing, but Bridenstine noted one victim had submitted an impact statement describing how his actions affected her.

When Bridenstine asked Casper if he had anything to say, Casper apologized to to the victims, the state of Michigan, the court and his family.

Bridenstine noted Casper had no other felony convictions and six misdemeanor convictions on his record. Bridenstine said Casper appeared to have used a lot of drugs in his lifetime and appeared to have had a lengthy history of drug use at 19 years old. Still, he said, Casper has stable housing and education and isn't someone he would normally find standing in front of him facing a potential life sentence.

"I don't know what you did on this particular occasion in terms of the consumption of substances that left you so disoriented that you didn't realize you were in somebody else's home ... touching somebody and you had no idea ..." Bridenstine said. "You deserve certainly to be punished for this."

THE UNWANTED VISITOR.

There's always one at Christmas. The gold-mining ex. The entitled step-son. The nagging mother in-law. The meth cousin. Scrooge has his old bank partner Bob Marley. George Bailey had his guardian angel, Clarence. King Herod had the three wise asses.

As for me, my unwanted visitor was Danny Caspers.

He was a boyishly young scoundrel. A thief. A troublemaker. A thorn in my side. Danny had "art" and trickery was his game. He was a professional forger of Van Goghs. Picassos. Renoirs. He would hire foreign painters to hand-copy works of art that would infiltrate the fine art industry, right under the eyes of every international auction house and black market in the world. Today, approximately eight hundred million dollars’ worth of fabricated paintings has passed through his paws and right into the auction houses of Christie's and Sotherbys. As long as the paintings looked sexy, the rich were happy without a care.

His counterfeits soon pissed off some important stakeholders, including the Baltic Mob. So he bailed the art world, moved on to plan B, and tried a much liquid medium: Money. He tinkered with surplus press equipment he bought off Craigslist, formulated his secret dyes and ink and off he went making money. First Alexander Hamilton. Then Andrew Jackson. And finally Benjamin Franklin. He rolled hundred dollar bills hot off his rickety inkjet printer for several months. He was so good that the phony money infiltrated every underground casino in South Florida and Atlantic City.

Eventually, his counterfeits soon pissed off some other important people, including the Cuban Cartel. So he bailed the money-making world and vanished without a trace.

A year later, he came up with Plan C.

State regulations are fickle when regulating legal documents. Most forms are electronically generated these days. Tax returns, home loans, bank accounts to name a few. But there are more important documents technology can never replace.  Birth certificates. Ownership titles. Durable Power of Attorney. Living wills. There's a reason why digital copies won't do: civilization wants the real thing.

An original document of importance is marked for authenticity. A stamp of approval. An inky thumbprint. A signature from the original signer. But if the signer of those documents is incapacitated—either demented or dead—there's no way you can change or disproven what's already signed. And should a document that looks like, smells like, feels like a living will or trust, it’s difficult to dispute it when it magically appears. I assume Danny has already gotten away skimming a few inheritances; His choice of narcissistic gomers, rich estranged fathers, and miserable scrooges has been easy game.

Now that I told you about this menace, you ask: where do I come into the picture?

Well, buckle your seat-belts. This all happened in Vegas.

Secret Molecules presents: High Tide

Secret Molecules it's like indie rock with some Madness vibes

Secret Molecules is a new band whose members are all seasoned musicians that have played in numerous other Dutch bands from the city of Dordrecht, a city just south of Rotterdam.

The core of the band consists of Otto van Gemert, singer/guitarist of Fervid and Black Tie Electrons, Casper Rosenquist, drummer of Fervid, Weissmuller and L'Appel du Vide, and Ton van der Kolk, bassist in bands like The Soul Snatchers, Trio Koko and The Jazzinvaders.

Also contributing to the sound of Secret Molecules are Eefje Mesker, (backing vocals, also sings in Door Visser), Govert van der Kolm (hammond organ, also plays in King of the World) and Edwin in't Veld (guitarist, session musician, ED).

Opportunities Because of a lack of gigs due to Corona, the Molecules had time on their hands and decided to put it to good use. They joined forces and wrote lots of inspired material, more than enough to book a studio and to produce a fresh and exciting debut album. The album - which will be released on Sheephead Records in the summer of 2022 - is brimful of compact, catchy songs that have smart harmonies, big choruses and slick chord progressions.
