did you know car engines put out different levels of torque at different rpms which affects like basically everything about the car. the torque curves are actually way more complicated than this, they kind of look like ramps with a hump in the middle followed by a dip followed by a bigger hump. but im just doing something that looks more like a perfect mound here. it works fine

i found the equation power=torque*rpm/9549.3 online from a forum where some guy posted the results of a dyno run on his porsche. the number 9549.3 is definitely specific to that porsche, so its probably a variable id want to be able to change later i guess

^this is basic shit but let me say one thing having the layout of accelerating with up on the right stick and braking with down on the right stick makes racing games so much more intuitive to play because suddenly it all just becomes one button that like the player understands in their mind as just "movement" and say for example when the player is coming up on a turn and they point both the steering and throttle joystick towards the turn whats happening is that they steer towards the turn of course but also they decelerate because the right stick is no longer pointed fully up in the Y direction, its Y value is now something like 0.7 instead of 1.0 because of the angle the stick is pointed in, that extra 0.3 went to the X direction , meaning the player automatically decelerates the car based on the angle of the turn without even having to think about it. if the turn starts to become more hairpin the angle is so great that the Y starts becoming negative and now braking is happening instead of acceleration automatically. its actually beautiful how simple and effective it is

^heres my cool function that does basically everyuthing related to the rpm. different gears rise and fall at different rpm speeds and it even simulates the effect of engine braking caused by releasing the throttle when shifting gears. it has so many fucking magic numbers from me just fiddling with it for like years trying to get the acceleration and shit to feel just right

awesome gear shifting stuff its so fucking yummy because if u look closely in the video at the top u will notice i never use the brake to slow down. i downshift gears which causes causes the car to lose speed because the power it was giving out is less efficient now due to the lower gear ratio which also means the rpm jumps up to redline speeds which lets me instantly shift back up to retain some acceleration i cant tell u how satisfying it is to drive this thing and it feels like a real car

^and thats it thats the last function. 212 lines of code honestly pretty small tbh. theres still stuff missing like for example when a car is turning the rpm starts increasing at a slower rate due to things like centripetal force traction rolling resistance weight transfer weight load engine load steering angle friction but im probably just gonna end up calculating it only based on velocity * steering angle or something lol. if anyone made it this far i contratutle you i dont think anyone who isnt as obsessed as i am with this stuff could ever read this whole thing so thank u

hi today i’m ranking werewolf designs based on how much i judged the vfx team for creating them. full post under cut sorry it’s so insanely long but trust me on this one it’s fun i’m discussing an american werewolf in london harry potter twilight the wolf man buffy the vampire slayer etc and so on (except not etc that’s it.) my credentials are i’m insane about werewolf narratives and i’m the boss of the applesauce.

first up is an american werewolf in london. now THAT is a good beast. he’s spooky. he’s scary. he’s wolf-like but not Just a wolf. and they get some mega extra points for that transformation sequence. rick baker the man that you are. however as much as i love it there’s a few critiques i have to bring up. first. it’s kinda odd that so much of the color palette for the transformation scene was browns and blacks when the actual werewolf was mostly grey. the final product was a little off from the transformation. i did like both of them quite a lot though so i’m not that mad. see. look. kind of off. but it’s definitely not bad i can mostly see how one came from the other even though the colors might be a little different. it also sort of lacks in facial movement in its final form as it’s kind of stuck in that permanent snarl, but they did a good job softening its eyes in the final scene where alex is trying to get through to david. 9/10.

next up yeah i have stuff to say about the harry potter prisoner of azkaban remus lupin design. is it fuck ugly. yes. is it cgi. yes. is jk rowling responsible for it. yeah. however. is it kind of a creative take on the typical werewolf idea. i hate to say it. yes it is. it goes against the typical sorta big strong hunky beast werewolf, and i cant lie, i appreciate it. it’s unique and kinda haunting in its own way. i don’t like that it’s bald. but i like the boldness and well. they got creative. 6/10.

next i’m going back. way back. yes sir we’re looking at werewolf of london. from 1935. and the wolf man. from 1941. cause they look pretty similar and they’re both jack pierce so yeah i’m lumping them together. if you ask me these ones lean more to the side of wolfman than werewolf - they’re kind of just hairy guys. which is like fine i guess i just think they should put more emphasis on the wolf. i like the wolfman better than the werewolf of london, which makes sense, cause i know the guy playing the london one didn’t feel like sitting for makeup and so jack pierce got to do more on the second round i guess. however WHY was bela lugosi’s werewolf form a straight up wolf and not lon chaney’s? they don’t explain it. rude. they’re iconic of course but they are honestly not showstopping. 5/10.

and it does get worse. so. let me speak. this is the worst thing i have ever seen in my entire goddamn life. that looks like a gorilla. there’s like barely any semblance of wolf on this other than that it has fur. i don’t understand why they decided to go in this direction it looks terrible. and the body suit part always looks loose as hell. it comes across as like an ugly gorilla mascot suit, and they make no effort to have it move in a remotely wolf-ish way. they usually just have it scuttling around like some sort of little freak. oz does not deserve this ugly shit. i love buffy and wanted to enjoy the werewolf episodes but lord have mercy. this sucks. whoever did this i’m gonna find you. 0/10.

So how true to the book do you think Armand's character will be? Some people on Twitter are saying they should be 'careful' on how they portray his character since he's a muslim it will give a wrong impression.

I have two qualms with this idea,as both a muslim and a brown person (same as show Armand) I find this take ridiculous for 2 reasons.

First of all portraying his character as in the books is not islamophobic since he is THAT terrible,

Second,if you want POC representation to be all sunshine and rainbows what's the use? Why cant there be complex,villainous POC characters too. It's like putting representation in a box. I find it limiting

It's also ridiculous they think a FICTIONAL muslim vampire is a representation of real life muslims and we would take offense. My mom is a very traditional muslim woman and she absolutely wouldn't care.

In short I have no issues in Armand in being portrayed as villainous as he is in the books,so like people who are taking offense on behalf of my ethnicity and religion,y'all can stop.

I do think Armand's show character will be true to his book counterpart, though - just like with Louis, Lestat, and Claudia - there will probably be some things that are made even worse wrt the things he does.

But that won't be because he's Muslim or a POC. Let me explain:

The key thing I think will be wrt those things is that it will add some more layers to Armand's pre-vampire life and the trauma he experienced during it. That has been the key factor wrt the race-bending of Louis and Claudia that we've seen so far. It didn't change the core personality traits you can find in their book counterparts. It just adds layers to those traits, all of which were born out of the trauma they faced regarding how they were treated because of their race (or, as I feel will be in Armand's case, also his religion) pre-vamping.

And what has been shown post-vamping is that, even though they are now immortal and can act on the anger they have on still being treated in such ways (and that there will be, at times, consequences for those actions - i.e., Louis and the "White's Only” sign on the dead Alderman causing a race riot) their immortality doesn't change the broader societal systemic issues that that treatment is rooted in and from.

Armand is the way he is because of the things he went through pre-vamping. And then, pretty much the minute he was turned into a vampire, he was kidnapped and taken into a Satanic Cult. Where he spent the next couple of centuries.

That cult wasn't a cult centered on the Muslim religion. It was very much based on the Christian idea of Satan, (I mean, the cult is called "The Children of Satan") and I don't think the show will change that. And Armand is indoctrinated into that cult when he's a fledgling vampire, just newly turned.

If I had to guess, I think what the show will be showing with this is that Armand's Muslim faith - whatever of it he was allowed to keep after being kidnapped and sold into slavery as a child - will be completely stripped away in full when the cult takes him.

The cult is not something Armand founded nor started, but was himself a victim of at the start, long before he took over as leader of the Paris faction of it. That it is a cult based on something from Christianity, and Armand, who was born and raised Muslim, will be forced into basically converting to it, well . . .

Armand being a Muslim and a POC born in the late 15th Century from Eastern Europe, kidnapped and sold into sex slavery as a child, and then bought and taken in by a vampire from the Roman Empire, are traumas I feel will be enhanced even more because of the race-bending done wrt his character.

Not being Muslim myself, I don't want to dictate at all what others who are might feel about this. But just looking at the basics of Armand's character, and where the focus has been wrt race-bending Louis and Claudia, I feel the same will be true for how they handle Armand. And the main thing will be that it'll add layers to the trauma he faces in his life pre-vamping that will inform how he acts post-vamping. And that even immortality doesn't grant him a reprieve from some of the things he faces because of his race/religion.

The faint sound of the laboratorium door clicking resounded against the silent room, as you slowly walked in the room. “Scuse me.. Jade? Are you in here?” Across the room in one corner, Jade was slumped against his seat and letting out a huge sigh. He turned his head to look at you, an unreadable expression was plastered on his face. “Ah… Hello, (y/n). Yes, I am here. But I do wish you had knocked before entering.. Is there something I could help you with?”

Seeing the state the eel-mer was in, you quickly moved to his side. “I did knock, actually. Perhaps I knocked too softly?” You set down a small box in front of the male, closely examining his face. He had looked tired- even more tired than he usually looked after getting worked to the bone by Azul. “I didn’t see you at lunch, and a few students told me that you were here, so I brought you some food from the cafeteria… But you look really tired, Jade. Are you okay?? Have you been resting enough??”

Jade stared at the box of food, waves of hunger suddenly crashing into him. “It seems like I’ve forgotten to eat lunch… Thank you, (y/n).” Jade silently started eating while staring into the desk, countless stacks of paper and books scattered around. Yet, he doesn’t seem to have an appetite, as he goes through the food slowly. Worriedly, you leaned down and put a hand on his forehead, checking his temperature. Jade sighed, pushing your hand away gently. “I assure you I’m fine, (y/n). You can tell that Professor Crewel’s assignment had me pushed up against the wall for the week.. But I’m okay. I’ve been trying my best to produce results, but it hasn’t been any successful..” “Not to mention you feel a little feverish too,” you point out. “I know Crewel sometimes gives us advanced potions to learn by ourselves, but you shouldn’t neglect your health either you know? You still have work to do at the Lounge too after this..” Jade sighed in frustration. The mask that he had oh-so carefully built around himself seemed to crumble slowly, showing his more vulnerable side. “You may have a point… It felt like I haven’t been doing enough these days.”

Jade wobbled slightly trying to stand up, and you held him up to steady him. You put one hand on his cheek, softly caressing the supple skin. “I’m always here if you need someone to talk to, and I’m always here to help out! Just say the word, Jade, and I’ll help you out when you need me.” Pulling away from the merman, you pick up a few papers that he has scattered on his desk. ”A truth potion? Isn’t this like, real complicated?"

Jade nodded. “Yes, it’s supposed to be. But I don’t want to burden you with my work, so please, no need to force yourself to help me.” You gave him a little pout, shrugging as you walk over to grab a spare lab coat from the shelves. “Hey, I voluntarily offered to help you, there’s no way something like this would burden me! I may not be the best potioneer out there, but I’ll try my best!” You exclaimed with a burst of energy, picking up a cauldron to start your work. “For now just finish your lunch first, Jade! Hopefully it’ll give you enough energy to finish the potion today~”

Jade had quickly finished his food by the time you got the water in the cauldron up to a boil, and he watched as you took up a stirring tool. “By the way, (y/n), have you ever tried making this specific potion? Do you know the side effects?” To that question, you put a hand on your chin. “N-no, I haven’t tried making it, but surely the instructions would help! And as for the side effects, it says in your books that it causes light nausea, right?” “Yes, correct. That, paired with the risk of hallucinations and saying too much about yourself, fufu. Still think you’re up for the task?” ”Isn’t that kinda just like alcohol then? I got this, let’s do it!”

No. You do not “Got This.” For about half an hour, every potion mixes you’ve tried with Jade’s instructions blew up. One even blew up straight on your face, and you had to watch as Jade tried to stifle a laugh for an entire minute while you try to wipe the ashes off your face.

“What the fu- I’m glad you’re feeling better, Jade.” You spat, rubbing a towel all over your face. “Okay, you know what, I think we’ve been putting the ingredients wrong. Maybe the feathers should go in last?” Jade hummed softly, while his hands elegantly wrote down what you said, along with a report of the last few failed batches. “Why don’t we try and find out?"

You nod, taking a clean cauldron and bringing it to a boil once again. Carefully, you put down a pinch of ground Mandrake Root, with Jade mixing the liquid beside you. You followed the new set list of ingredients, putting in fairy dust, mermaid’s tears, and crystal salt, while the mixture turns from green to yellow to red. “Now for the last ingredient… 4 feathers.” Jade took the 4 feathers out of their container, carefully placing them on top of the liquid and watches as it dissolves, turning the potion into a crystal clear blue.

“I-It’s blue! That means it should be completed!” You had the urge to jump around and cheer, but Jade had reminded you to be careful and instead started pouring the liquid into three glass vials. You help out by closing the vials and wiping them down, making sure they were fit to be given to Crewel. You could see a hint of relief and amusement in his eyes though, that much you could tell.

"I appreciate the help, (y/n), thank you. The next step would be writing a report on the effects, but we have yet to find a test subject.. Would taking a random student work I wonder?" You stood up abruptly, flailing your arms around. "THAT'LL GET US IN TROUBLE WITH THE HEADMAGE!!"

Jade simply chuckled, nodding. "Then, what do you say about me testing it personally?" You fight another frown, thinking of the outcome. "Well, you just finished eating a while back, and I don't want you to get nauseous and throw out the contents of your stomach... Why don't I do it instead then?" You exclaimed, naively offering yourself to him.

"Hoo? You'd let me use you as my subject, (y/n)?" "As long as you promise to not ask any weird questions, yes. I can handle a light nausea since I'm in full health~"

"Blegh." You scrunched up your face after downing the contents of the vial, a slight buzz taking place within your body. "No wonder nausea was a side effect, that tasted absolutely atrocious."

Jade pulled a chair to sit in front of you, holding his notebook in a doctorly fashion. "Alright then, I'll only be asking you general questions so please do answer with what comes to mind first." The man smiled, a tight-lipped smile that usually hides intents behind them.

"First question, what was the biggest lie you've told a teacher?" "The biggest lie? Oh, don't tell professor Trein, but on our freshmen year I brought a cheat sheet to finals and I totally lied when I turned in the paper. He asked me how the exam went and if I answered truthfully, and I just said yeah I did! Even though I had a cheat sheet with me!" You laughed joyfully while recounting the memory, whilst Jade calmly writes down your reactions. "Hm, I see. Quite an interested answer, but I can assure you the Professor won't know a thing."

You laugh at his answer, and gave him the green light to continue. "Now, for the second question. What is your greatest weakness?"

It felt like you had to raise an eyebrow at that question. "I thought everyone in the school knew already by now, I'm absolutely atrocious at PE. You could be running two laps around the field and I'd be dead by one."

Jade simply smiled, his eyes trained on the notebook. "The fact that you're willing to answer that as quick as you did proves that you are indeed telling the truth. Last question then, alright?" You nod, the buzz of the potion still apparent in your body.

"What's the most embarrassing moment you've had in NRC?" You had to wonder for a second. Knowing how chaotic NRC is, you've definitely had your fair share of moments. "I think... When I bumped into you at orientation was pretty embarrassing. I fell on my back because I wasn't paying attention, after all."

Jade let out a satisfied smirk, putting away his writing tools. "Then we've established that the potion does indeed work. Thank you once again, (y/n), you don't know how much you've helped me for this assignment after all." You shook your head, waving your hands nonchalantly. "Oh c'mon, I didn't help you out to get anything in return~ I just cared for your wellbeing, that's all."

"Is that really it?" His smirk grew larger, a scheming glint was apparent in his eyes. "Then, what if I asked you- If you could ask me for a reward after helping me, what would it be?"

"What if I asked for a ki-HMPH!!" You really didn't think before talking. Before you knew it, your mouth opens to say something, and your brain immediately signals your hand to cover your mouth. "I forgot the potion's in effect!!"

Jade simply laughed, ever so slightly leaning forward. "You should know by now that the potion forces you to answer truthfully no matter what. You can't stop yourself with a simple hand gesture. Now... Tell me, what did you want to ask for?" "I-It's embarrassing!!" "You can't leave me hanging like this, can you? You'll have to tell me what you wanted or else I'll feel like I didn't give you a sufficient enough reward.." Jade feigns a frown, looking straight into your eyes. You instinctively curled up and covered your face with your hands, being under the stare of a predator.

"F-Fine.. I wanted a- a... A k- k- ki- kiss.. f-from you... fuck, I really can't lie.. d-don't tell anyone about this please..?"

You curled yourself more and more, hoping the chair would swallow you whole and take you away, but you were forced to look up unto Jade's ever-widening smirk and the glinting amusement on his face.

"Oh my. You have my word, what happened here will stay here." Jade brushes some strands of hair away from your face, and placed a ginger kiss on the top of your forehead. "Would this be enough?" He said, his lips still lightly grazing the top of your head as he made no moves to pull away. You didn't dare move nor reply. Jade has been someone you adore for such a long time, but deep down in your heart it was still a little scary to have him so close in proximity to you.

Jade didn't say much in reply. Instead, he moved his hands to cup your cheek softly, and left another soft kiss on your cheek. "You're a bit too cute when you blush it's irresistible, don't you agree?" It took all you could to not break in his arms, with you already trembling like a cornered prey. "N-no, I'm not..!" For some reason you couldn't fathom, his smirk just grew wider. "Oh, so my little (y/n) is a bit scared being near me, I don't mind at all..." He pulled you closer to his body, enveloping your body with his long limbs and pinning you on the chair. He leaned in to kiss your cheek once again, making no moves to pull away and keeping his lips floating right above your skin.

"S-stop teasing.." you squeaked out, your hands holding the sleeves of Jade's shirt in a strong grip. You bit your lip and looked away from him to spare yourself the embarrassment, but each movement you did only added to his excitement. "Oh, my... Don't you look adorable when you bite your lip... You are just the cutest aren't you...?" Jade cooed softly into your ear, leaning in to leave yet another kiss on your forehead. "I won't tease anymore, I promise."

You let out the breath you've held in when you felt his weight shift away from you, only for Jade to once again steal your breath away- this time, with a loving kiss on the lips. You were speechless for a good amount of time, the merman in front of you relishing in your expressions while holding your chin to make sure you're looking straight into his eyes and keeping his lips dangerously close to yours.

"Oh I'm sorry, did you not want the kiss? I won't do it again if you don't want me to.." "Shut it, Leech." And those were your last words to him, as you leaned in to finally capture his lips in a proper kiss.

Vinland Saga S2 Review *NO SPOILERS*

Vinland Saga S1 was really, really good for a number of reasons. It annoyed me when I heard some morons say it was the best thing ever but that kind of talk most assuredly sends me into a gatsu rage post-haste. The reverence I hold for titular animes that are the gold standard of anime -- seldom reached into todays microwave age -- it is something I do not think a lot of otaku have.

I have not read the manga but I knew s2 would be different from s1 from the interweb, some fans on forums/reddit/twitter really did not seem to enjoy the pivot whilst others loved it. I think the animated version of these chapters will cause similar divisions. Personally I am not sure if I prefer s2, it is different. It offers up a different array of flavors that almost certainly cater to a different palate.

After watching s2 in its entirety I am here to say that while it might not be EXACTLY what people want it is exactly what I needed. The character development in this arc is absolutely remarkable and a true testament to the level of writing that Makoto Yukimaru has achieved. The range of emotions on display, the weight of themes that are front and centre such as slavery, redemption, war, love, are so palpable, it is awe inspiring. There are moments in this anime where I felt, true feels are conjured up and that may be the best compliment I can give this arc. This is a sienen in the truest sense of the word, there is no fan service, there are no chibis, this is an adult anime and as an adult I appreciate that so so much.

The sound design is on point with Yuuto Uemura reprising his role as Throfinn. He continues to flesh out his resume (side note he is great in Bongou) with a great tonal rage. I cant speak to the dub. Not the biggest fan of the openings songs being in English for pt1 and pt2, that might be my one small knock but I guess MAPPA knows best in terms of westernization, localization and marketing, probably made sense. Outside of that the effects and score in the show are well done, well placed, well mixed. The use of animals, wind, ambient noise, keys, all hit their mark and are interspersed with care.

The animation is crisp as a newly minted bill and while it is not pushing the art in ways that its contemporaries are, Demon Slayer / Chainsaw Man, it is more than serviceable. The movements are fluid and the colours pop. Stylistically, the understated character designs that seem more based in naturalism than fantasy are welcome for this setting. Some of the action sequences that take place in the later eps are stunning and the entire team really did excellent work.

There are no areas of this anime that fall flat or miss their mark. I think the only complaints that can be mustered up are minor. At times the interjection of comedy seemed a tad forced and perhaps jolted me from what otherwise is a completely immersive experience. Some of the

Rarely do i watch anime and feel like I have grown or become better for it. I can not say I would recommend this to everyone. This is not fast food this is fine dining. This is art. As hard as it is for me to say, Vinland Saga deserves to be in the rarefied air of the greats of anime. With such a brave and stark departure from s1 in terms of pacing, content and narrative structure, one can see how it could be off putting for some fans but for those that can appreciate story telling, plot, themes, dialogue, character growth, you would be hard pressed to do better.

Honestly the main beef I have with this whole snowwhite business is that i think at least forty to sixty percent of the magic that comes from the animated movie is like, the animals? that animation itself is probably the more accurate reason, I suppose. I don't know enough words to describe this accurately but i don't see how live action could capture the sheer delight of two birds wringing out a shirt, or a turtle being used as washboard, or raccoons trying to sweep dust under the rug before Snow White scolds them.

I think the animation style is just, a delight to the eyes. and cgi cant mimic that whatsoever yet unless your under a talented director that knows precisely what they are doing. and I don't think that kind of director would even work with Disney in the first place.

Unrelated but a while ago i was listening to some of the songs of the original cause i suspected that those were the most slept on songs of the famous Disney Song discography in pop culture, and something that leapt out to me in the I'm Wishing song, is that it doesn't really matter whether or not the Wishing Well is actually magic, because Snow White making a wish into a well that makes a loud echo is precisely what gets the Prince's attention, and thus, by making a genuine wish from the heart, actually made it come true, which is payed off in the end because her Prince remembers and searches for her, which also means that by making a genuine wish in faith right in the beginning of her story ensured her being found/woken up in the end of the film, which...is like really neat when you think about it. I have trouble thinking of any Disney Princess that makes an action right at the beginning of her story that ensures at least a part of their ending.

i wouldn't have realized it without finding your post laying out how cool the Original Snow White film was, so thank you.

as for the whole Snow White Live Action situation I did think a good portion of the situation was rather stupid, as when i heard that a live action was in the works I didnt even have the energy to roll my eyes becuase I honestly thought that the Mouse was scrapping the bottom of the barrel on that one. I do think that Ms. Ziegler was downright stupid about her comments and should have been far more tactful, and I also do think that a lot of the response to her comments were out of proportion. Its a shame because while i'm sure some of the response was based in pointless racism; I think a lot more of the internet response was just dumping their frustrations on Ziegler rather than the real culprit of the whole damn mess, which is the Mouse. (Also personally I have heard this chick sing and I don't think her voice matches whatsoever. tho the same can be said for plenty of the live action singing at this point.)

The Queen is all about disguises and tricks, and the Dwarves hide from strangers, but Snow White does neither of those things; she’s all heart all the time, and acts on faith, especially in her attitude.

I agree with you about Zegler, and I agree with you about the animation style. It’s all so good, and as the first animated feature film, it’s hard to imagine the story not animated. Everything is very soft, water-colored, and round. I don’t think any live-action attempt can come close to that while still looking…well, real!

HOW DID U COME UP WITH SUCH AN EPIC CHARACTER DESIGN FOR YOURSELF?!? LIEK!! YOU'RE THE PRETTIEST

probably comes with experience of designing characters for a. while now and ever since ive started drawing digitally and maybe even a bit before that, but for sona's i tend to just make them as related to me as possible which is EXACTLY WHY they change so much. I like a lot of types of j fashion (mainly yamikawaii, but anything from gyaru, to lolitas, decora, dark girly and others, and i do tend to dress in all as much as i can irl but for a vtuber model youd need just ONE DESIGN AND ITS HARD TO FIT ALL EUAGGH) + several design tropes i want to try and keep for myself from time to time are alice in wonderland, nurse, vampire (its the romanian pride) and well i cant just have ALL but they juggle in between each other quite often

for how i make designs WELL its hard to exactly say how i got to one, my current one's based on the one i had right before this (angel) but gothic instead (?) and make it a catgirl vampire (you can definitely tell theyre similar enough)

and angel's design is soooort of inspired by ALyCE's from dohna dohna (saying sort of cause theres also a design made by my friend @ pyokirio for her that also had alyce as a set ref when we talked ab it) (alyce's ref + angel's old ref with arts from pyo as well below) ((dont look into dd if you justh heard ab it in this post, its also a r18 game))

i also dont really have refs or anything for many sonas of mine, some i just go off and design the clothes myself, maybe theyre inspired by things i own irl, or some fit i saw once somewhere and totally misremember, but that makes it more unique guess ! i can make a whole post ab sonas i had thru the years that i put more life into if you really wanna see more designs from me given i dont exactly use ocs though i have over 200 of em 😭 but also thank you for the kind words !!

blazestar is the clan leader but her warrior name was blazepool ^_^ i only mention this because when i came up with her name i thought it was soo pretty then i remembered if shes the clan leader she has 2 have the suffix -star. so the nice name i came up with went out teh window entirely. she became clan leader after the former leader and his deputy DIED in the same night due to a mysterious incident. nobody rlly cared though rip bozos. time 4 milf power. the medicine cat literally had a vision about how blazepool needs 2 be the new clan leader. thats how they decided so suddenly after that night in... garry'sclan...

missingfur is literally an old man he needs to stop killing people over territory boundaries but he doesnt have any other pastimes since he doesnt have any good stories or even ticks

pigeonfoot is the medicine cat and hes billy if you cant tell. i think all my designs r pretty obvious though so whatever. he knows everything awful that is going on but hes so dumn he forgets it instantly after starclan tells him. he caused a girl 2 spiral into insanity entirely on accident. he so cute i put little stars in his eyes because i thought that would be a fun idea for medcats 2 have stars in their eyes like how leaders r sometimes drawn with a star on their chest or forehead (like i did w blazestar..) i legit based his fur patterning and stuff off of a pigeon because again. cuteness points. the vm influence is deep under my skin like scarabs

BRIARFACE the little thing next 2 one of their ears is actually supposed 2 be a briar flower idk if you can see it. the token former kittypet. she used to live in a house but then she saw blazestar and missingfur on her patio one day and blazestar was like "what are your pronouns" and briarface (then some silly housecat name like uhh sweetums) was like. "she/they, i guess, but my housefolk have no way of knowing that, they just think im a tom" and blazestar was all like "if you join our clan we will call you by your preferred pronouns" and she was like folding missingfur's ears closed the whole time since he insisted on coming to the new recruit and wouldve been a bitch. and sweetums said "what?". and blazestar said "what." genuinely not understanding what they were not understanding. 2 weeks later she would become part of the family and be christened briarface because briar is like briar rose and it sounds pretty and face because they have distinctive facial patterning.

mapleclaw is the strongest toughest roughest prettiest girl in garry'sclan and she goe's two hell every night to get better at it. this isnt a secret though everybody knows and nobody minds. pigeonfoot found out from a vision and told everyone and they were like. cool. and he was like oh i guess its fine then. must not be that bad. like her venturiantale counterpart she also lost her entire original family when she was young to murder carried out by none other than JIMMY CASKET... a name that gets sillier the more i think about it. in this au or whatever his name is gravelblade. more on gravelblade later..

rustedpaw oh my god.. el gato ever. he also had all his remaining family die for unspecified reasons when he was quite young. blazestar finds him sitting pathetically in a pile of blood next to one or more of his family members corpsces. takes him home adopts him without question and apprentices him to gravelstep (gravelblade's non evil default form) but then he tries 2 kill missingfur in his sleep and #fails and blazestar is like!!! not my platonic babygirl guy best friend with tax benefits!! and they both decide 2 DIG A HOLE IN THE GROUND LIKE A FOXHOLE and make him live in there 4 being a foxheart (attempted murder). then he just lives there. screaming to be heard. sometimes a cat will stop by to talk with him out of pity or genuine interest. sometime it will be mapleclaw as she's also in charge of bringing him food. also gravelstep is bummed abt being out of an apprentice bht blazestar is like "Don't worry... youre still my fav deputy :)" and gravelstep says " i am your only deputy stop acting like its a superlative"

foxflower used to be a friend of pigeonfoot's who had like a big crush on him and was contantly teasing him, flirting with him and every1 thought they were going to become mates but pigeonfoot just wasnt into her like that. this was solidified when he became a medicine cat and foxflower was like. oh fuck now i REALLY cant have him. so instead she dedicated her life to evil. she still harasses pigeonfoot while hes working and in defense mode mapleclaw killed her early on. they forgot 2 bury her and she stood up and started talking and walking around again 24 hrs later. this was how they discovered every1 in garry'sclan or venturianclan or whatever im calling it has infinity lives..

because they exist purely 2 entertain starclan and nothing they do or that happens 2 them matterz. blazestar actually found this out while she was becoming leader but 4got 2 tell everyone ^_^;

The funny thing is that i see often posts that are about people being blatantly wrong about the character. Which while sometimes i agree i also just cant do it wholeheartedly cause ya know. What i write is soooooo distanced from canon its not even funny. And its not even malicious!! I have explanations on exactly how and why, all based on how those characters reacted on certain events in canon

Which is ya know. Technically a different thing. I take a character and redefine it in a different environment cause i personally like to overanalyze shit. Tbf this is what an AU is supposed to be lmao so im very much in my lane dont care

But still um yeah. Cant say someone is doing a poor interpretation of a character when i myself is making something completely different out of them too even if with a funky explanations. Idk i find it kind of boring to just write them how they are in canon cause the point of an AU is yeah explore different situations. Which i guess with saying its an AU im automatically not included in those posts about bad characterisation cause those are different categories. Idk. Its always weird cause it is hard sometimes to preserve a character while also putting in a completely different environment. Idk. I worry a lot about how i write and describe and chance characters lmao. Tbf i worry about everything. Anyway. Im also one of those people about whose takes people say “he would not say that” but i think im just lucky enough to sound convincing and people tend to believe my posts more than canon lmao

Mar in particular is my vtuber model art, and July is my pngtuber - Apr is just a random drawing I did based on a drawfee challenge - May is a drawing of me and my best friend (shoutout to her fr) - June is a redraw of a super old character (named Skye I think?). that was when I was trying out a different art style - Aug is an attempt to OC-ify me and my best friend for a comic I was going to make. anyway the reader is not part of the mafia,but shes Gins bestfriend and she has a huge crush on Akutagawa,and Gin is aware of that.(Akutagawa hasnt met the reader,but the reader has seen him for several times and shes obsessed with him lol)

Gin has told the reader that theres a girl in the mafia that has a crush on his brother too,and then she showed her Higuchis picture,and that how the reader knows her.

so once that the reader comes to Gins house (Akutagawas not there) Gin tells her that Higuchis is comming to give her some kinda envelope crao from work.so when the doorbell rings,the reader gets an evil idea to annoy Higuchi.

ok here we go...

"omg i just wanna marry him! isnt he just perfect? ＞︿ <

"Ugh shut up!just stop fucking fangirling over my brother,you idiot" Gin sighed and throw her pillow a you.you were driving her crazy with your huge,stupid crush on her brother.it was even worst than Higuchi!

Honestly,it was weird to her how her brother was so attractive to her female friends!

y/n pretended to wipe her tears of joy while she was holding Akutagawas picture. "just look at him already! god i cant believe you get to see him 24/7! being able to see this beautiful,amazing creature all day long...just,god!"

"ok first of all i dont get to see my brother 24/7 ! were both stuck with work! and second of all,im his sister for gods sake! he seems normal to me"

"what! so whenever you see him you dont want to just rip his damn coat off and ask him to fuck the shit out of you? "

"omg what he fuck!? hes my brother you dumbass! thats so fucking gross!" Gin wanted to hit her friend with anoher pillow again,but the sound of her ringtone didnt let her to. taking a glance at her phone, she grabbed it and looked at y/n with an confused look. "its Higuchi"

"that bitch! what does she want?"

"ill tell you when i answer her call"

"put it on the speaker mode!"

Gin waited for a few seconds,then she answered her colleagues phone call while looking at y/n's concentrated,pissed reaction as she heard Higuchis voice.

"Hi Gin! how are you?"

then she nearly screamed,cause y/n was pinching her.

Higuchis voice sounded kinda shocked. "what happended? are you ok Gin?"

"what do you want Higuchi? im kinda in a rush"

y/n got off the bed and started shouting at Gin with an angry look in her face. "what is wrong with you? you wanna give him the address so shell come here too see Ryuunosuke whenever she feels like it?"

"excuse me but im not gonna let your stupid fantasies interrupt my work.also,dont worry!my brothers not easy at all"

"what fantasies? and what of she seduces-" suddenly she stopped talking,because she just had the most amazing idea. based on what she heard from Gin,Higuchi wouldnt tell anything about it to Akutagawa,so it was gonna be awesome!

looking back at her friend, y/n strated talking while trying to hide her devilish smile,but Gin was able to see it. "you know what? send her the address and tell her to come here quickly"

"whats on your mind,you crazy weirdo? i dont like the look on your face."

"just do what im telling you to,and everything will be fine"

Gin wasnt really positive about it,but since it was for her work she couldnt really do anything.She sighed and started texting Higuchi the address as she took a glance at her friend and her happy reaction.

the two girls were talking when the doorbell rang.

"i got it! i got it! " y/n almost flied at the door,and before she open it,she started taking her clothes off.

"hey! what are y-" "shhhh! dont let her know youre here" y/n said,while covering her body with a white blanket.she then took a deep breath, and opened the door.

Higuchi immediatelly froze.seeing an strange,naked girl in her senpais house...could it be that...?

Gin on the otherhand,was even more shocked than Higuchi.she closed her mouth (which was open wide from surprise) and came toward her friend. "you really are a bitch,you know that?"

the young girl gave Gin a smile which was huge because of the victory she had just earned,and held the blanket tightly.

"i know,but im also gonna be Mrs. Akutagawa"

Sonic boom season 3 ep where omega uses his experience in law to defend shadow in court. (he was accused of killing fastidious beaver and no one really cares but still. Murder. He also is 100% guilty) Edgebot from the Brude episode is the prosecutor. Omega manages to pin the blame on sonic somehow and then fastidious beaver just. Walks into the court room. Turns out he just got knocked out instead of actually killed(which was the goal). No one knows how they managed an autopsy without actually harming him. The episode ends with T.W. barker asking Omega to defend him in court against charges of extortion. Omega gets paid for none of this btw.

HELP? i already wanted to come up with an episode that was a parody of ace attorney and you just fed me thank u. also you are so based for the multiple references to my other posts no one normal would say this but im so glad i turned on anon on tumblr dot com

anyway lemme add on to this:

its obvious from the get go to the audience that shadows guilty. not because hes a bad liar or anything he just doesnt care to pretend. what does he have to lose? his freedom??? the prison doesnt want him they know better than to attempt to detain him. his reputation??? right, because hes so clearly known for his innocent harmless and gentle demeanor with everyone. hell if he goes down as the one who killed fastidious beaver, people will finally take him seriously again after being forced into so many comedic scenarios for this blasted shows universe. the only thing stopping him from standing up and outright confirming that he did it is that hed never hear the end of it from omega whos high key excited for his debut as a lawyer

tw barker wanted to continue his lawyer career so he practically begged shadow to hire him but like... he does c/rypto on the side and shadows an anticapitalist king so he essentially told him to eff off

the "courtroom" is just meh burger reorganized so half of the tables represent the prosecutors desk and the other half the defenses. the restaurant counter is the judges chair. there may be an actual courthouse they can do this at but after that one time omega left the restaurant he got placed under house arrest or should it be called restaurant arrest? is meh burger technically his home or……… he cant leave or else a self destruct switch will activate is what im trying to say

(hi its me from the future <3 apparently anons idea resonated so hard with me that i got kinda carried away with my little additions and i dont wanna be obnoxious if i can help it so im putting this under a read more okay continue on. or not if you dont wanna hear about how literally the entire trial goes i guess)

knuckles is the judge which makes perfect logical sense

the detective is vector whos televising this entire trial while hes at it. he barely has anything to work with because a CERTAIN SOMEONE disposed of the body but from what he could piece together fastidious beaver was being annoying at meh burger so shadow grabbed him by the scruff, dragged him over the counter, and dunked his head into the deep fryer. as anon mentioned he somehow survives this

sticks conducted the autopsy and by that i mean she whacked fastidious beaver in the head with her boomerang a couple of times and when he didnt wake up from that she hurled him into the sea. once again this makes perfect logical sense its not like we have other characters much better equipped to be scientific about this. and he somehow survives this as well

edgebot looks exactly like omega except with more spikes. he wants revenge against shadow for besting him at Brude™️ which is why hes doing this. from this episode onward hes omegas main rival in the field of law and also theyre brothers since they were both created by eggman. M1KU is their sister. orbot and cubot are their eldest siblings. what a nice family

oh and instead of yelling "OBJECTION" each side just fires a projectile (ice cream for omega, knives for edgebot) at the other robot causing sogginess and scratch marks

all the other characters are the gallery and theyre sitting outside on the grass watching this all go down with varying degrees of attention. eggman in particular feels very conflicted because he wants to support edgebot but he doesnt want to make omega feel like the unfavorite and of course he doesnt want to root for shadows downfall either

witness 1 is dave who was standing right next to shadow when he was committing the deed and did absolutely nothing to stop him. omega gets him to recant by pelting him with ice cream nonstop and giving him hypothermia

witness 2 is amy who was at the front of the line to order when this went down and also saw everything but omega cracks her testimony by getting her to admit that shadows back was towards her at the time so she cant say for sure that was shadow. sure no one else around is a black hedgehog with red stripes but she cant prove it was him can she?

witness 3 whos infinite is mainly there to testify about shadows character and of course he starts talking so much trash about him and painting him in the worst light possible. "also those red things next to his eyes? theyre UGLY." "YOURE THE UGLY ONE YOU MASK WEARING FREAK!!!" shadow yells as he leaps from the defendants chair and tackles infinite to the floor because these two in the boomverse would be so catty you will not change my mind about this. a recess has to be called

rouge whos witness 4 is also there to establish character and shes one of the few who isnt intimidated by shadow so when asked questions about whether hes capable of doing this shes like "lol maybe idk can i go to my manipedi appointment now" (side note but shadows constantly at a loss for words when it comes to rouge precisely because of this. none of his threats ever affect her so if he cant scare her then What Else Can He Do)

eventually omega pushes everything onto sonic by saying he was disguised as shadow to frame him which is an accusation that comes out of left field because in case you werent paying attention sonic isnt involved in this incident/trial AT ALL. he was sitting in the gallery for the first half of the proceedings but grew bored so he left only to be forced to come back when hes accused. insert sa2 references here yada yada faker etc etc youre not even good enough to be my fake blah blah blah live and learn

shadow surprisingly is pretty against the direction this trial has gone because it actually really pisses him off when people imply that he and sonic look alike even when it directly benefits him but just when hes about to put his foot down and own up to the crime (omegas fun be DAMNED) fastidious beaver comes in "correcting" his grammar and everyone freaks out. especially him.

omegas disappointed that his first trial was ultimately a dud but then tw barker comes up to him and tells him hes in trouble for extortion and omega ALMOST accepts until he learns that the incident involved c/ryptocurrency

(dave runs away and goes on a 1,423 mile hike from south dakota to oregon AU fic thing) hes tried to run away before but always got caught and had to face punishment from bro, but he gets to the point where he cant take being there anymore. so in the winter when he walks to and from school he trudges through the snow to get used to it and walk faster for when he plans to run away next.

john lives in the same town and theyve been friends their whole lives but daves never told him about bro. so when he gets to school all beat up and bruised hes like im just fuckin clumsy dude. i probably just bruise easy

bro is daves shit dad (he had dave with mom so yeah dave and rose are twins but bro never told him anything about that so dave doesnt know). he leaves for days or sometimes weeks at a time which is really a relief cause dave doesnt have to be constantly walking on eggshells or whatever that phrase is. i dont really need to get into why he sucks you can figure it out, a lot of physical psychological and emotional abuse you know the drill (sorry i dont know how else to put it)

they live in a trailer house near the edge of the small town (i actually spent several days over like two years on zillow looking for the perfect house and i finally found exactly what i have in my head but you guys cant see it its my little secret) but dave never really learned how to do any housekeeping shit and bro doesnt care how messy the house is so daves too embarrassed to ever let john come over. he just says bros too busy to deal with another kid in the house. dave frequently stays over at johns (dad is based and lets him over whenever) and its always a 50/50 chance that bro wont even notice or hell flip shit, at this point daves just accepted that and does it anyway, if only just to eat dads food

dave develops a crush on john because i love subjecting characters to gay panic, but he doesnt know its a crush hes just like i feel so much around him and i dont know why guess i will ignore it. he feels like shit when he leaves but he cant tell john because hes convinced bro will fuck his shit up if he says anything to anyone. he just has to settle with the fact that hell never see his best friend again (wrong) because he needs to leave. ok the post is long enough. to be continued

Intro & attempt at TLDR

Hey everyone! Today I’d like to tell y’all something about Open Source Software, and also Why this should matter to you! This’ll probably be the first post of a series I intend to do, because I believe the Studyblr community, even the non-nerd folks, could really benefit from switching some things out in their digital environment. Since this is a long post, I attempted to summarise it below, please do read on if you have the spoons tho!

TLDR?

FOSS stands for “Free and Open Source Software” the “free” part doesn’t necessarily mean it’s free as in free pizza, but mostly means free as in freedom.

There’s a humongous amount of variants on this concept, but the core of FOSS specifically is the four freedoms:

1. To run the program however you want and for whatever you want

2. To study how the program works and to change it in whatever way you want

3. To be able to share it with whomever you feel like

4. To be able to share your modified version with whomever you want

There’s a whole host of software licenses built around these concepts, you can check those out at the Open Source Initiative website, or at Choose A License. Both have a good summary of what they all stand for.

Open Source software is used for a lot of products, nearly every single webserver is an Apache Linux server, Google chrome is built on top of their open source chromium (google is still the devil, but y’know, it’s an example), and even deep deep down, Apple computers run on top of a Linux Kernel. Many more can be listed, but I won’t do that otherwise this isn’t a TLDR anymore.

Now, Why is this important for you? The Open Source Initiative summed it up real nicely already, but heres a short paraphrase:

Control & Security. If software is open source then you can check if it really works the way it does, and to make sure it’s not spying on you. Even if you don’t have the skills for it, someone else who does will be able to check. Also if you don’t like how something works in a program, then you’ll be able to change it or find someone else’s changed version that you like more.

Training. People who want to learn programming can use the code to see what makes programs tick, as well as use it as a guide for their own projects.

Stability. Because everything’s out in the open, that means someone else can take up maintaining a project or make a successor of it, in case the original developers suddenly quit working on it. This is especially important when it’s software that’s absolutely critical for certain tasks.

Community. It’s not just one program. It’s a lot of people working together to make, test, use, and promote a project they really love. Lots of projects end up with a dedicated fanbase that helps support the developers in continuing to work on the software.

I’d like to add one more tho: Privacy, which ties in a lot with the security part. Nowadays with protests going on and everything being online due to the pandemic, folks have been and will be confronted much more with the impact of privacy, and lack thereof. Open Source software means that if any company or group tries to spy on you, then you and anyone who feels like checking, will be able to know and take action on it. Terminology: Let’s get that out of the way first

Open Source: The source code that a program is made up of is freely accessible, anyone can look at it and check whether it works well enough or to make sure it doesn’t spy on you.

FOSS: Free and Open Source Software. This doesn’t mean that you don’t need to pay for it, it’s free as in freedom and free speech, not free pizza.

There are four freedoms associated with FOSS:

The freedom to run the program as you wish, for any purpose (freedom 0).

The freedom to study how the program works, and change it so it does your computing as you wish (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.

The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help others (freedom 2).

The freedom to distribute copies of your modified versions to others (freedom 3).

By doing this you can give the whole community a chance to benefit from your changes. Access to the source code is a precondition for this.

FLOSS: Free and Libre Open Source Software. This time it is “free” as in free pizza. The “libre” is french for “free” as in freedom.

GRATIS: Sometimes people use this word to mean “free” as in free pizza. Usually alongside “FOSS”

Licenses : A license is something that tells others what they can or cannot do with your code. Licenses also apply to art and literature, those are copyright licenses. There are many different software licenses and I’m not going to be able to list them all.

The biggest players however are:

Apache License 2.0

The 3-Clause BSD License

GNU General Public License (also known as GPL)

MIT License

Mozilla Public License 2.0

There’s even more and you can find a list of them Here on the Open Source Initiative site There’s so many licenses that there’s even a Choose A License site, where you can pick a license depending on what you want it to achieve

Who and/or what even uses open source software?

You don’t need to be some nerd to benefit from Open Source software, in fact, you’re using open source software right now! The biggest example is the whole entire internet. Websites are stored on servers, and nearly every single webserver is a Linux server. The second biggest browser Firefox is open source, and even google chrome is built on top of “chromium” an open source base. If you dont use an iPhone, then you’re probably on an Android phone. Guess what? Android is part of the Android Open Source Project, which is then built upon a GNU/Linux base. All Open Source. Chromebooks? Built on top of a Linux kernel (like a non-patented engine you could put into any motor vehicle you’d like). Heck, even Apple computers are, at their core, built on top of a Linux kernel.

Neat apps you may wanna check out!

I’ve made a little list of apps that might be especially useful for studyblr folks, but depending on how well this post does I’ll probably make some more posts for specific apps.

TiddlyWiki, has a bajillion different ways to organise your thoughts, and also a lot of variant builds out there. Check out their table of contents if you feel lost! There’s versions available for most big browsers, as well as windows, linux, mac, android, and iOS.

AnyType, is an app that looks and almost exactly like notion, but is much more decentralised. They’re currently still in development but if you want to support them, sign up for early access and give them some feedback so they know what works and doesn’t! They’re still in closed alpha, but are intending to give beta access to about 100 folks at a time throughout 2021, so please sign up if this looks interesting to you!

Trilium Notes, is slightly more like a “notebook”, however you can arrange your notes in nearly infinitely deep folders. You can use things like Relation Maps & Link Maps to visualise your notes and how they go together. There’s even more they do and I just cant list it all, so go check out their stuff for a more comprehensive overview! Works on windows, linux, and (unsupported) mac

LibreOffice and ONLYOFFICE are two office suites that function just as well as micro$oft office, often Even Better in my experience. I’ve used LibreOffice for years now and honestly? never going back. OnlyOffice is technically free (as in pizza), but it’s a slight hassle to get everything set up, cause you need to set it up on a server. They have a paid and hosted version available with educational discounts, but honestly i’d go with LibreOffice.

OnePile, is an app I haven’t used myself since it only runs on Apple stuff. But I’ve heard a lot of good things about it so that’s why it’s in here. It looks like it works similar to most general “note taking notebook” apps. Looks really pretty too honestly.

EtherPad, is similar to ONLYOFFICE, however this one’s a lot more focused on specifically text documents. Works with real-time collaboration which is really neat.

Anything that FramaSoft has going on. They’re a non-profit organisation, dedicated to promoting digital freedom. A lot of open source cloud related things are not really useful to people who don’t have the time and/or money to set up a whole-ass server. That’s where FramaSoft comes in, they do it for you. Just about everything they offer (here’s a full overview) are free (as in free pizza). They also have a separate site to help you get started!

It’s not free to run it all on their side, so if you find yourself interested in using their services please try to support them any way you monetarily can! (they even have a “minetest” server (not minecraft, deeeefinitely not minecraft))

Joplin!! Which is also what I used to write this post so I wouldn’t have to use The Tumble’s post writing thing. It’s good for taking notes, has a bunch of neat plug-ins, and can also sync with a variety of cloud services!

Nextcloud For if you want to go just that little bit further on the open source and the privacy. Nextcloud has honestly way too many features for me to list, but the important parts are that it’s a nigh perfect replacement for office365, and probably even GSuite. The one caveat is that you either gotta host it yourself, or get someone else to host it for you. Framasoft (mentioned above), has a nextcloud instance. It works on just about every single platform, and can integrate with an absurd amount of services. Here’s a list of providers that work with nextcloud, and what different apps they have installed on their server.

I personally use Disroot, because they’re a local (as in, my country) non-profit that offer about 2gb of free storage, and then for about 15 cents per GB per month you can get more storage if you want. They also have an email service which is hella neat. Their one main rule is Do Not Use For Business Purposes, because they’re here to help the individual folks, not companies.
