I've been thinking how everyone has a personal quest, except you as a PC ofc, and for that reason... what would be Nat's personal quest.
Already established she's been constantly on the run for deserting Lolth's cult in Menzoberranzan, so it'd definitely be tied to that. I like to think that for the past 70 years, she's always been captured here and there but always managed to escape.
She's not under constant attack, there's a lot to do in actual service, but to turn your back on the Spider Queen is a great as sin as ever, one Nat's previously High Priestess would like to see properly punished, with a great deal of pain involved.
I haven't decided many specifics yet, but my general outline is that during Act 2, due to close proximity to a convenient Underdark entrance, Nat gets snatched up somehow and has to be freed. Between her companions realizing she's gone and actually finding her, her captors have flooded her system with poison that only an expert can get rid of.
And that's how it "bleeds" to Act 3, where either Araj Oblodra helps after some of her bizarre bargains, or the treatment has to be found lost somewhere in the Sorcerous Sundries. Meanwhile, Nat's in under constant but somewhat manageable pain and has her combat abilities (which are not that exquisite, she's a thief after all and not a fighter) severely hindered.

Analysis of each character's final words in the new Dark Urge evil ending
If you are romanced to a character, you have the option, when taking the new version of the Sins of the Father ending, to kill your partner in front of the others in your party, killing them with one last kiss. They then give their last words and pass away. I love each and every one and feel they are incredible characterization moments.
So let's break these down!
Lae'zel:
I... I am glad it was you. No other blade would have sufficed.
This is something that hammers home that, Vlaakith or no, Lae'zel deeply believes in all the ideals of a Githyanki. Life is a privilege for the strong, and death is the price of weakness. Further, if romanced, Lae'zel will affectionately call you "the source of my bruises" many times. If she has to die, if she has finally found the one person stronger than herself, then she is "satisfied" that it is you- who she both loved and admired. The only one she would ever consider worthy of besting her.
Karlach:
Fuck you.
Short, simple, and to the point, just the way Karlach does everything else. She's already gone through all her stages of grief with her engine- well, almost all of them. Anger still remains. She burns hot until the end.
Wyll:
I... I forgive you.
This isn't just Wyll being a good guy. This is heartbreak, and guilt. Guilt for not saving you from Bhaal's influence when he was so sure he had. Heartbreak that after he gave his literal soul to save as many people as he could, he couldn't save you- and couldn't save others from you, either. All he sacrificed, negated in an instant by the person he loved and trusted most. Of all the characters here, Wyll (tied with Halsin) sounds the most obviously broken, and it's easy to see why, given that he is self-sacrificing to a fault.
There was a set of scenes datamined from the game, where at the Morphic Pool, the Netherbrain would have taunted the players, causing them to hallucinate things related to their fears and insecurities. Wyll's would have been a vision of himself talking about how he was never a hero, how the Blade of Frontiers was a farce all along. One can't help but think about that scene here, wondering just how much blame, bordering on self-loathing, he might feel here.
Dark Justiciar Shadowheart:
I... I'm coming to you, Lady Shar.
Another short and simple one. By becoming a Dark Justiciar, Shadowheart has fully embraced the nihilism of Shar's teachings. Why be saddened or angry at her own death when this is just what she's embraced with all her sacrifices?
(Sidenote: this does also answer a question I had, namely, what was going to happen to everyone Durge kills. Thankfully it seems they aren't actually going to be sacrificed to him as such, and will indeed end up in the realm of their deities. This makes Bhaal's plan even DUMBER, because deities in DND lore need worshippers to have enough power to exist. Killing everyone at once just guarantees that soon after Durge dies as the last person alive, so too will Bhaal fade from existence.)
Selunite Shadowheart:
I... I thought we were going to save each other...
This Shadowheart rejected everything she knew. She was scared to defy her goddess, but worked up the courage- thanks to you. She thought you would have a new life together. She believed in you. She thought she would get to return the favor, and help you turn the page on Bhaal, too.
She's not just heartbroken for herself; she's heartbroken for you, too. Heartbroken at the life you denied both her and yourself.
Gale:
You made me want to live...
From the moment the orb entered Gale's chest, he knew he was at risk of dying. Then Mystra all but marked him as a dead man walking. But despite that, he finds love with you- and for the first time thinks maybe there is a purpose for him beyond Mystra. That he isn't more useful to the world dead. More than that, he wants to live to be with you, to enjoy your company and companionship. And then you kill him, and do the one thing WORSE than what would have happened if he'd never been pulled from that rock.
It almost would have been kinder to just hack his hand off the first time you met him, though Gale may or may not agree.
Spawn Astarion:
I should have killed you when I had the chance...
The angriest, most bitter response out of all the romanced companions, a step beyond Karlach's "fuck you." This is beyond "fuck you" and even beyond "I hate you." It's "I regret every moment I spent with you." You made him believe he could have better. That he could recover from what Cazador did. You even convinced him to spare the 7,000 spawn and that he could be something better than Cazador.
And now you reveal it was all a lie. Astarion is probably thinking that you talked him out of completing the ritual solely so he'd be easier to kill right here and now. How many regrets are flashing through his mind, how many moments where he wonders if things could have been different if only he'd done this or that, even aside from killing you?
All he wanted was to live as a free person. And then the first time he thinks he has that at last, he loses it as the world ends.
Ascended Astarion:
No... no, this can't be... I can't- you can't- no...
In contrast to spawn Astarion, ascended isn't angry, because he doesn't have the clarity, the ability to process what's happening. Spawn Astarion could tell he'd been betrayed.
But Ascended? Ascended, who went through so much to become one of the most powerful beings in the world, only to STILL lose without fanfare? And by you, his own spawn who he thought he had under his control? It isn't betrayal, because he is bluescreening; he can't comprehend what happened or how or why. How could he have been killed, and by you of all people? Was all he went through killing Cazador really for nothing? How could it be when he was supposed to be the most powerful? Was power actually meaningless all along?
He doesn't say anything of substance because he can't understand what's happening here.
Halsin:
Thaniel... goodbye...
Halsin is the oldest of all the companions. He's experienced the most loss of anyone; his birth family, his fellow Druids, and, for a time, Thaniel. He has had more than enough time to contemplate his own mortality, because he's already lived multiple lifetimes.
So here, two things are happening. One, he isn't expressing anger or betrayal at his murder- because he is more than wise enough, and humble enough, to understand that there are worse things than what has been done to himself. Instead of himself, he is thinking of the world he's leaving behind that is about to fall- and most of all, of his most important person, the one who gave him a purpose, who was there when no one else was, who he failed once and only just got back. The closest thing to a child he'll ever have. In his last moments, instead of himself, Halsin is thinking of those he loves.
And second, it's an almost deliberate snubbing of Durge. He willingly walked into that kiss, knowing full well it would be the last thing he ever did. He gave you his death, he pleaded with his own god to forgive you and him both. He gave you everything he felt he owed you, and no more- no begging or sobbing. Instead, he comes as close as he ever gets to selfishness, and spends his last moments thinking about the thing that makes him the happiest- which could have been you, in another life, if you hadn't done this.
Minthara:
No... we were meant to do this together...
Heartbreak, disbelief, and betrayal. You spent so many nights planning this out. She had been cast aside by her people, her goddess, and she was going to get the last laugh. She was going to crush them personally under her heel and prove she was the best (or second best, behind you) of all of them. She's devastated she won't get to help you torture all those souls and take what she feels was owed to her. But interestingly enough... no anger. Probably because it was overshadowed by the sheer heartbreak, but also a sign that even in those moments, she still admires you for your ruthlessness.

Baldur's Gate 3 Characters with Virgin Reader
18+ only obviously. Dirty headcanons under the cut. (these are all the "good" endings btw
Tumblr media
Halsin would honestly be a little in awed shock when you tell him. He'd treat you tenderly, go slowly and save the more rough lovemaking once you're accustomed to his...girth.
There is a lot of emotional connection that goes into the intimate act and knowing its his partner's first time would mean a great deal to him, he takes the perceived responsibility seriously.
Yall would have to go slow though, to accomodate the guy's size. Has strength as his dump stat yet is built like a brick house.
Tumblr media
He's all for the game of seduction, especially if he is still unsure of where he stands with you and your party.
When discovering you're a virgin he acts the part, flirting and using honeyed words to manipulate your heart.
However as the two of you grow closer his feelings also change and he feels anxious about knowing he has your utter consent before taking things further.
He knows what it feels like to be used and wants to avoid causing you the same hurt and feelings of doubt, because against all odds he has begun to care for you.
So much foreplay...SO much foreplay. And you can be in whatever position you want, it's all about your comfort when the time comes to be intimate.
Tumblr media
yeah she'd tease you at first, all in good fun, but still she has to get those sharp words in somewhere.
Soon enough the teasing gives way to concerned questions, not probing too deep into your feelings, but enough to give her hints as to how comfortable you feel with her.
We all know Shadowheart is a slow burn romance, so expect a long buildup while your relationship blossoms.
Lots of sweet kisses and witty flirtations, respecting each other's space until the time feels right to take it to the next level.
perhaps it's after one of your many swimming lessons where you Shadowheart takes the reins and becomes the teacher of a different kind of lesson.
She'd be asking questions throughout, listening to your responses and making sure everything is perfect and you're not feeling rushed.
Tumblr media
Oh she would be so sweet. You know how Karlach is usually quite boisterous and tends toward the goofy side.
She'd sober up right quick when you discuss something so personal with her and she'd be quite pleased you decided to share this with her.
She promises to take it easy on you, at least at first wink wink, and she has the idea to allow you full control to explore her body as much as you wish.
Feel her heart, or at least where her heart used to be, it blazes hotter under your touch.
She might pop the occasional sweet joke, but her eyes and her care is on you the whole time.
She will ask if now is okay, and make sure to gain your express verbal permission before touching your body herself.
She is gentle at first, as promised, but it becomes hard for her to contain her enthusiasm as your coupling progresses. Remind her if you deem it necessary.
Tumblr media
Gale, he'd be surprised but I think pleased.
He would want you to feel comfortable with him, and thus would info dump about his Tressym and the many books he's read about magic and the weave.
It's all about words of affirmation and quality time with Gale, he wants to show you and tell you how much you truly mean to him and reaffirm it is you, not Mystra, with whom is explosive heart now lies.
When the night comes, because he does prefer the romance of a star filled sky, he would ask you if you wish to become one with him.
Maybe astral sex is too soon for the first night, but you can certainly accept when he no doubt extends that offer.
Tumblr media
I think it's pretty much canon that she beats the shit out of you when yall have intimate time...that wouldn't change on account of your virginity.
You'd tell her you're a virgin and she might not even know what that means, I wouldn't be surprised. Either that or she truly does not understand why you think it's important to mention.
She would encourage you to take initiative and assume a more dominant role, prodding you (probably with a stick) if you got too shy.
Later on, in her storyline when she becomes more of an individual unto herself, she will understand the softer aspects of lovemaking.
Then she will be more willing to empathize with the feelings that must come with a first-time coupling, and act a little slower accordingly.
Still prepare yourself for the occasional impatient "tchuk".
Tumblr media
are you kidding, he'd be the ultimate gentleman.
He'd definitely get you a picnic and take you somewhere that smells better than the party camp and that stew Gale attempted to make for supper.
I feel like he'd be more forward than Gale or Karlach, wanting to feel some semblance of peace that your body and your affection could offer.
He'd for sure be drawn to your inexperience, feeling a sense of protectiveness overcome him. (yes yes I understand this post is full of innuendo)
Might wax poetic about his many adventures but pull him in for another kiss and he'll quickly forget his train of thought.
Tumblr media
yes, I made him wait in line, little shit
This cambion knows how to fuck, sit down and block me if you vehemently disagree.
He finds out you're a virgin, and interested in him? Game over.
He plays the long game in all his dealings, and won't be bothered if you choose to play hard to get....in fact he prefers it. Cat and mouse etc.
He's not gentle, nope, but when you're finally in his claws you hardly want him to be.
Doesn't have the bonus of Incubus spittle acting as an aphrodisiac but has had many bedmates and centuries to study how best to use another's body to pleasure his own.
Oh and bring you pleasure of course.

Okay so like the perma death of Tav and how it would affect the party-
Just cause my Tav died during the end boss and it got me thinking (SPOILERS FOR SURE) (definitely romance centric around poly Tav/Astarion/Halsin)
The party definitely doesn't fully comprehend it at first. Oh it's fine, Shadowheart has revivify- no? It won't work? Right okay we have the scrolls- oh. Okay well we can bring them back to Withers- what do you mean you can't?
That's it. That's the end, and Tav is dead and gone, cold to the touch.
Astarion is in shock. He doesn't believe it, won't believe it- he gets angry at Withers. Yells and screams until his voice his hoarse and angry hot tears are running down his face until he drops to his knees and sobs. Tav's body is on a bed or a stone slab, and he just kneels and cries next to Tav. Squeezes their hand, begs, pleads with them for you to come back. Don't take them, take me- let them live, let them stay, I can't do this without them. Halsin stays with him, by your side, the two comforting each other through their tears and the loss of their love. He cries until he's weak and tired and can't bring himself to move- Halsin feeds him and brings him to bed. He cries at the smell of you on his pillow; you were his sun and now you were gone.
Gale is quiet. Gale comforts the others, makes sure everyone else's needs are being met. He makes Tav's favourite meal that night for everyone at camp- probably something like a nice hearty stew with potatoes and beef. After he's sure everyone else is fed and has drank water/blood, he returns to his tent to eat alone. He closes his tent and quietly cries. He doesn't eat.
Wyll? Wyll carries Tav back to camp- perhaps with the help of Lae'zel. He feels how cold your skin is, and he does his best to hold it together. He sees how deep your wounds are, how blue your lips are. He's unsure if you died before you hit the water, or if you succumbed to your injuries before Halsin pulled you out- but he feels the weight in his chest. You were a hero. Baldur's Gate deserved the privilege to know your face, to hear your laughter. You would've been knighted, you would be a hero to the people. They couldn't of done it without you, and now you were gone. He knew it before they even reached Withers. Wyll didn't sleep that night, rather staying up and tending to the fire.
Shadowheart knew it too. When she tries to revivify Tav and there was nothing, she knew there was no hope. She lingered when the party started back to camp with your body. Shadowheart made her way back to the now empty house of grief and picks night orchids. She takes her time coming back. Camp is quiet when she returns. She feels the familiar wisps of sorrow grasping at the edge of her mind- she is reminded of Shar, and the urge to forget. She won't go back- both for herself and for you. She brings you the night orchids and leaves them in your hands.
Halsin pulled you from the water. He was the first to realize you hadn't surfaced and swam down for you. Minsc realized quickly too and helped him bring you back to shore. Upon the return to camp and the cold hard truth from Withers, he's hurting. His heart hurts. Halsin falls into old habits, hard. He comforts Astarion first and foremost, putting his needs second. He did this at the grove, too. He realizes this and finally breaks, crying as he holds Astarion, the two at your bedside. He lets them fall, he hugs Astarion close, he prays to Silvanus- not to bring you back- he of course knows you are gone. He prays to Silvanus to meet you someday again, be it in the afterlife or if your soul comes back to this plane as something else. When Astarion is too weak to move and needs to go to his bed, Halsin carries him back to his tent. He holds Astarion as Astarion feeds on him, before laying him down to sleep. He leaves, returning with wildflowers to weave into your hair, before returning to bed with Astarion.
Karlach rages. She's violent for hours on end- punching trees, her upgraded engine burning so hot that her tears sizzle if they fall on her skin. She spent 10 years in the hells, 10 goddamn years with absolutely no one- you were the first person to give her a chance. You were her friend. You stood up for her time and time again, you saved her from needing to go back- and now you're gone. She punches a tree and scratches at it and yells angry things in infernal. Her rage only simmers when Scratch and your owlbear cub come to her- she collapsed against the tree and holds them both, crying as her engine starts to cool.
Lae'zel is quiet. She helps Wyll carry you back- she might not be the best at reading emotions, at telling what is happening- but she's seen death before. She realized you were gone when Minsc and Halsin pulled you out. You were a hero- you saved her people, you saved her prince, you saved /her/. And now you were gone. She wonders if you felt as scared as she was, when the tadpole was the greatest threat to them back on the Nautiloid. She knows she didn't say it, but she considered you a true friend. She comes to you later in the night to lay your weapon in your hands. She notices the orchids, and leaves them within your hands as well before going to sit at the fire with Wyll. She's quiet.
Minsc? Minsc is optimistic. He's not stupid- he holds out hope you'll be fine, reassuring the others while they walk back to camp. Surely you were fine, Withers would make sure of it! But when Withers tells everyone the truth, Minsc isn't angry. He feels the sadness, Boo does too- they go to the shore and sit to stare at the water. Minsc has been around for awhile- he knows the finality of death. He, in a way, knows Tav will be okay. That you will return as a bird or a baby or maybe you won't, and you'll await them all in the final death- and he and Boo mourn you.
Jaheira is the one to arrange the coffin for Tav. She's familiar with the process- she's done it many times before for Harpers. She's gone all night getting an oak coffin for your burial, and returns with a few men in the early hours of the next morning. They move Tav into the coffin, careful not to disturb the weapon you held and the numerous flowers. Jaheira sheds tears for you- she brings you medicine, laying the plants in your casket around your head. Lilacs and lavender, cedar and sage cradle Tav's head in the coffin. She thanks you for the lives you saved, the ones you've avenged- for doing what you could.
When the funeral happens, the cathedral is full. When the dust settled and word of your deeds, of your battle, of your sacrifice spread across the city, hundreds come to mourn Tav. Tav the great, Tav the hero, Tav the brainslayer. Tav is knighted before the burial, and is buried in a cemetery in the upper city amongst other heroes of Baldur's Gate. Church bells ring, and taverns are filled with people drinking and singing in Tav's honour. Bards have somehow already come up with songs of Tav and the group- and truly, while the party will remain together, their hearts bleed for the leader they lost.

Book Dragon
Summary: What I imagine is a common occurrence at camp with my Tav. She is a hoarder and frequently dumps inventory into the camp supplies and forgets which important objects she needs for quests. (This is dumb but I just needed to get it out of my head)
Pairing: Astarion x Tav (use of she/her)
Tags: fluff, established relationship.
The frantic crunching of gravel was the first indication that someone had arrived to their camp. Immediately upon hearing the rustling coming through the underbrush, Shadowheart rose from her kneeling meditation, hand braced on the dagger at her hip. From across the slowly-dimming fire pit, Lae’zel mirrored the cleric; double blades resting in her palms as her ochre eyes scanned the tree-line for the incoming threat.
The second indication came from the muffled voices beginning to carry through the forrest. There were at least two, neither of which were decipherable at this distance (Halsin’s snores emanating from his tent didn’t help the matter).
The third indication was the sight of four familiar individuals bursting through the trees, the first two seemingly in a heated argument. Tav was strides ahead of Astarion, making a beeline to her tent next to Shadowheart.
“All I’m saying is that—“
“—I know I have it somewhere, Astarion!” She threw open the tent flap and slammed both knees onto the shabby rug that lined the floor. Dumping out bag after bag of books, random stones, empty potion bottles, and a few stolen pieces of jewelry, she began to frantically tear through the contents in search of something.
“Darling,” Astarion leaned against the frame of her tent, voice tense with the clear restraint he was exerting, “I’m sure if you had it, it would be in your pack. Maybe, if you didn’t hoard tomes and scrolls like some sort of…book dragon,” he flourished a hand for emphasis, “then you’d be able to keep track of your belongings more easily.”
“Maybe, if you helped me look and stopped running your pointy mouth for a moment, we’d be able to find it faster.”
Astarion’s face was expressionless and unreadable as he stared at her digging through a large chest, “Oh darling, please don’t be mean to me,” he drawled sarcastically, “you know how it turns me on.”
Tav’s head whipped around, eyes blazing as she stared at her lover (the thought of which still confused the rest of the party). She continued her ravenous search through the tent, tossing weapons and pillows all over the small area rugs as the other party members watched on, half in confusion and the other in exasperation.
“What’s going on?” Shadowheart glanced uncertainly over at the scouting party, hand finally leaving the hilt of her dagger.
Karlach shrugged, swaying to an imaginary beat that seemingly played on a constant loop in her head, “Tav needs a book—“
“—More like Tav trekked us through the wilderness for hours to find the Mystic’s tomb, only to double back through treacherous territory just to look for a bloody book, that she may or may not even have, based on a hunch!” Astarion threw out his hands in exclamation, dirt and blood shimmering along his face in the firelight.
“—She needs the journal we found a few days ago in the temple. We think it may have the key to figuring out where the Mystic’s amulet is. If we get the amulet, we can end him for good,” Gale added valiantly.
“You two think it’s the key,” Astarion drawled, motioning between the wizard and Tav, “I for one think we can just—“
“AH-HA!” Tav leapt up with a yell, holding a decrepit leather book in her upheld hand. “I knew I had picked it up, I guess I had stashed it in the communal trunk to make more room in my pack.”
Astarion rolled his garnet eyes, “Please enlighten us all on the vast wisdom scrawled haphazardly by this half-dead freak.”
Tav’s eyes sparkled in challenge as she held out the ancient book to him.
“What do you want me to do with it?” He scoffed, eyes darting between her and the yellowed pages.
Tav smiled sweetly, a terrifying gesture that caused Karlach to cringe slightly from a few feet away, “I just figured that if this was written by some ‘half-dead freak’, then it could only be deciphered by another ‘half-dead freak”.”
Astarion blinked in surprise, his aloof mask slipping momentarily by her remark. He narrowed his eyes as she smirked and clutched the book to her chest.
“I think we should take the night to re-group and rest before setting out again tomorrow at first light. I’ll comb through the journal tonight and see what I can find,” She nodded confidently.
Gale stepped closer to her side, “If you’d like company, I’d love to assist.”
Astarion stiffened, ceasing his casual leaning to stand upright. Before he could get a word out, Tav gave a soft smile and shook her head.
“I appreciate the offer Gale, but I’ll be able to focus better if I’m alone. Once I figure anything out I’ll let you know though.”
Astarion loosed a breath, watching as the wizard nodded and strode off to his own tent, hiding his defeat behind a cool mask. As the rest of the camp began to disperse, Astarion lingered at Tav’s tent, feigning interest in a loose thread hanging from his sleeve.
“Goodnight, Star,” she shuffled in the dirt towards her bedroll, the events of the day finally catching up with her. Limbs feeling like a million pounds and eyelids full of sand, she reached to push the tent flap aside when she felt a cold grip on her other wrist.
Astarion pulled her gently backwards, “Where are you going?” His voice was soft and filled with a lingering apprehension that tugged at Tav’s heartstrings.
“To my tent? I have to dig through this book before we leave tomorrow…”
Astarion noticed how bloodshot her eyes were; she was exhausted.
“Let me,” he gingerly pried the book from her fingers. Tav looked at him in confusion.
“I’ll read through it tonight, you should sleep.”
“Star, you don’t have to,” she shook her head, “Let yourself rest—”
“Darling,” Astarion brought a hand up to cradle her cheek, “It’s not up for debate.”
Tav turned and kissed his palm. Breaking into a slow smile, Astarion tucked her into his side and began to lead over towards his tent.
“Does this mean you’re not actually mad at me about dragging you back here prematurely?” She smirked.
Astarion scoffed. “Oh love, I’m incredibly annoyed,” he squeezed her tighter, “but unfortunately, I’m also quite fond of you and will follow anywhere you ask.”

Favorite Party Banter [Karlach Edition]
[Astarion (Ascended)] [Halsin/Jaheira] [Gale] [Karlach] [Lae'zel] [Minsc] [Minthara] [Shadowheart] [Wyll]
I often miss party banter because of party comp (and sometimes just straight up can't hear??) so here's a collection of my favorite bants while going through dialogue files. I know the wiki has the banter (most? all?) but I added the file names and dev notes.
Either Karlach is the main speaker/subject or I think Karlach's reaction is good shit.
Not in any particular order.
Tumblr media
[PB_Shadowheart_Karlach_Monastery]
Shadowheart: A remote spot for a monastery. I suppose they wanted to make sure the monks avoided temptation. {Devnote: Considering a large ruined monastery high up in a mountain pass. Early Game/Still loyal to Shar}
Karlach: Yeah but look at these mountains. The height of temptation.
Shadowheart: No, I mean more like vices. You know - pleasures of the flesh. {Devnote: A bit confused by Karlach’s musing}
Karlach: Met a loumara demon who married a mountain, though. It's a thing. {Devnote: Amused}
Shadowheart: I think the thin air might be getting to you, Karlach. {Devnote: Amused laugh}
[PB_Shadowheart_Karlach_ROM_Act2_001]
Karlach: Hey, Shaddy, got a quick question about the best way to treat an infernal burn.
Shadowheart: Shaddy? Really? {Devnote: Reacting to Karlach trying out nicknames for her, Loyal/Reject Shar}
Karlach: Hearty? Shadsy? Or maybe just The Fringe?
Shadowheart: ‘Shadowheart’ will do just fine, thanks. Love is making you fanciful.
Karlach: You might be right. {Devnote: Cheeky}
[PB_Karlach_Astarion_ROM_Act1_001]
Karlach: I never was a sucker for a smooth-talker, but I admit, Astarion, you’re pretty slick.
Astarion: And you’re rather the opposite of slick. Do you have a point?
Karlach: I was just being nice.
Astarion: Step one of starting a conversation: think before you speak.
Karlach: Never was my strong suit.
[PB_Halsin_Karlach_MoonriseSCE]
Halsin: We have lifted the shadow curse, but a new challenge awaits us.
Karlach: Baldur’s Gate - we can’t get there soon enough.
Halsin: I am… less anxious to find myself in a city. So removed from nature’s power - I do not know how I will fare.
Karlach: Stick with me. I’ll show you around and square up if anyone bothers you.
[PB_Karlach_Shadowheart_MorphicPool]
Karlach: I can tell when we’re getting close to a mind flayer area because everything starts to smell purple.
Shadowheart: That’s either profoundly poetic or childishly simple. I’m going with poetic.
Karlach: A compliment from Shadowheart! I’ll put it on the shelf with the rest of my achievements.
[PB_Karlach_Laezel_IllithidColony]
Karlach: Look at all this mucus. Wonder if our nautiloid came from down here.
Lae’zel: It’s a possibility. This is no mere mind flayer colony, but an entire ghaik bastion.
Karlach: I’m ready for the goo. {Devnote: With determination, not trying to make a joke strictly}
[PB_Karlach_Astarion_FelogyrsFireworks]
Karlach: Oh man! WHIZBANGS! {Devnote: Excited in a fireworks shop}
Astarion: Keep calm, Karlach. One bad flare and you could blow this whole place.
Karlach: (Oh man! Whizbangs!) {Devnote: Whispering now cause Astarion told her to calm down}
Astarion: Better.
[PB_Minthara_Karlach_ROM_Act3]
Minthara: You allowed that smith to meddle with your heart, Karlach, simply so you can be touched?
Minthara: Better to shut off the carnal desires than indulge them. They are distractions.
Karlach: Yes, because every function comes with a handy switch.
Karlach: Next time I'm injured, don't heal, just turn me off and on again.

Bg3 companions as college roommates?
Tumblr media
Wyll: Despite being a legacy admission, he isn't at all what you expected. In fact, he causes you to reexamine your own personal biases. He's rich, but humble. Privileged, but generous. Popular, but not because he's the son of a duke—in fact, he keeps that detail close to his chest—but because he devotes most of his free time to charity work. He also throws the wildest parties.
Tumblr media
Lae'zel: A foreign exchange student. She's often crude and standoffish, constantly bragging that her education is superior. You don't get along at first, but you soon realise she's homesick and completely out of her element. You offer to help her adjust and she reluctantly, though gratefully, accepts. While you aren't sure if that makes you friends, she at least stops calling you "kainyank".
Tumblr media
Karlach: This woman is insane. She doesn't take her studies seriously and always crams before exams, but somehow she always passes! You feel a tinge of jealousy, since you lack the same good fortune, but you can't hate her. It's impossible. She's a sweetheart who teaches you the definition of fun, often helping you unwind when you need to most.
Tumblr media
Astarion: You don't get much of a chance to know him, as he sleeps all day and only attends night classes. What's worse, he gets expelled within the first week of attendance. You never figure out what he did or why, you only know that the chancellor seemed deeply, deeply traumatised.
Tumblr media
Gale: Kind, attentive, eager to help you with your homework. He's a stellar roommate in every single way ... except for one. He has a habit of running questionable experiments in your dorm, often late into the night, which deprives you of valuable sleep. But he always apologises with a home-cooked meal, so you let it slide. Plus he has a cat.
Tumblr media
Shadowheart: She's very tight-lipped and always turns out the lights, even when you're studying. You're not sure how to feel about her when you first meet, as she's rather aloof and melancholy. Halfway though the semester, however, she suffers a debilitating crisis of faith, which you happily help her overcome. When all is said and done, she considers you her new family.
Tumblr media
Jaheira: She's more like a mother than a roommate. You learn quick that she's a strict taskmaster; you will not leave a mess around the dorm. Cleanliness shows dedication, after all. But you appreciate that. She cares. She wants you to succeed, despite barely knowing you, and she's always willing to listen when you need a shoulder to cry on.
Tumblr media
Minsc: Heavens above, he's the dumbest man you've ever met. Part of you wonders how he even passed the entrance exam, until you discover he didn't. He failed. He's not a student. He just hangs around because he likes you. Yet, for some reason, you find that strangely endearing. Loud and clueless as he is, you feel safe when he's about, and you're quite fond of his hamster.
Tumblr media
Halsin: He's the true definition of a "gentle giant". A chipper jock with a passion for nature and activity. He often drops keen wisdom that aids in your schoolwork, as well as your personal life, making him a near perfect roommate.
...If only he stopped bringing home dates for his late night hanky panky. You can't sleep.
Tumblr media
Minthara: She isn't a roommate, you're just in her room. You should count yourself lucky she tolerates your presence at all. And you better not slack off, because if you do she will report you to the dean. School isn't a joke, and she expects you to take it seriously. Some people would kill to be in your position.

Coming from DAi, Ive seen so many ppl write their inky as a kid or at youngest 18 bc it changes the dynamic between them and the party...
Has anyone done that/ considered how it would change the relationship with Tav?
Lae'zel being frustrated and terrified that her survival is dependent on a teenager. She's taking orders from someone barely old enough to know their way around life on a good day, but now finding her people and being purified fully hinges on this kid's survival and she will be damned if she doesn't die to protect them.
Wyll sees himself in them, wide eyed and terrified at 17 when he bound himself to a devil and his father cast him out. The gods are cruel for giving children their toughest battles. He's going to give them every piece of advice he has and pledge his blade to their cause.
Gale being even more hesistant to open about The Orb and Mystra and his condition because he thinks it's too much for them. They should be tucked away in a library, they should be walking through Baldur's Gate worried about trinkets and sweets and being home on time so they don't worry their mother... not tasked with saving Faerûn from a cult.
Astarion thinks its annoying at first. "Free" for the first time in 200 years. Illithid tadpole squirming in his head and he's stuck following a literal fetus in hopes of survival. Its laughable. He almost –almost– feels bad about having to feed from them, but young blood is always sweeter. And when they earn his approval he's bitter on their behalf. Forced to be a hero, some beacon of light before you've even explored life and it's simple pleasures? Appalling.
Karlach... oh boy Karlach burns hot when they tell her exactly how old they are. Its stupid- its unfair- ITS BULLSHIT quite honestly. The nickname Soldier becomes so much more. This kid doesn't give up. They can't, Mama K will do everything in her power to stop it. They need a friend in these tough times and shes more than willing to be that person. Gods....
Shadowheart is a little surprised, but she's the one that underestimates them the least, for sure. They're not that much older than when she was taken in by The Dark Lady and her followers. She knows that you become strong when you need to be. It may be unfair but that doesn't make them any less capable as long as they understand the task at hand. She will see to it that they stay on the right path. And when her faith shifts she realizes neither of them deserve to struggle.
As for Halsin, it makes his heart ACHE in his chest when someone so young comes to his rescue. His knee jerk reaction is that they need training, gudiance... protection. But he quickly realizes that's only half true. They are young sure, but they are not helpless. He will help them in anyway that he can whether it be in battle against The Absolute or by carving them little wooden animals while they sleep and leaving them in their tent. They deserve a little happiness amongst the chaos.
Minthara (assuming she has been recruited at Moonrise) is surprised more by the fact that they chose to show her mercy than by their age. Given her upbringing, survival and violence go hand in hand and if this kid has survived this long, faced power of absolute and survived? Than they are worthy of her respect, hands down. She may not always agree with their methods but she will certainly not hesistate to stand beside them.

Can you write something where halsin x wife reader and she gets hurt badly with a lot of angst but a happy ending
ugh I love angst. I'm so sorry this took so long, I was in the hospital when I saw the notification and tried to write a few weeks ago, but I forgot about it in my drafts because I've been really busy these past few months😭
Pairing: Halsin x Fem!Tav Genre: angst Summary: After finally defeating the Netherbrain Tav wasn’t seen after the explosion. All her party members made it out alive, but her disappearance was starting to worry Halsin. Warnings: angst, Tav goes missing after the explosion, Halsin thought he was going to be a widower, I’m not a crier so I’m not 100% sure but read at your own risk because it is pretty angsty.
Tumblr media
Halsin was at camp with the others when it happened. Tav took Lae’zel, Karlach, and Shadowheart with her, leaving her husband at camp with the rest of their companions. But, of course, they didn’t exactly stay at camp, as they wanted to see how everything would work out. So they went out to the city, doing what they could to help there while the girls were trying to defeat the Netherbrain.
Halsin wasn’t much of a worrier when it came to his wife. She was tough, and she knew she’d be able to handle it. She always did. And he was feeling pretty confident that she’d make it out alive. But that was until the ship crashed.
That’s when he started to worry. He saw the explosion, but he couldn’t go investigate it because he was trying to help fight off the remaining illithids who were still in the city.
He assured himself that Tav would be alright as he finished off the remaining mind flayers. But his heart sunk when his wife was the only one who didn’t make it out yet. There, on the docks, he could see Shadowheart, Karlach, and Lae’zel, all standing together on the wooden boards with soaking wet armor. Hells, even Shadowheart made it out alive and the poor girl can’t swim.
The cleric coughed as she climbed onto the docks, wringing the water out of her snow-white hair. “Ugh. Should’ve learned to bloody swim.” She scolded herself. “Can’t believe I almost drowned at the last hurdle.”
She coughed again, and Karlach went to pat her on the back. “Well, you’re lucky that Tav was there to help you,” the tiefling said, trying to help her friend breathe.
Lae’zel stood there, helping herself get rid of the excess water, when the realization hit her. She looked around, examining her surroundings as if she were looking for something.
“Guys,” the Githyanki called, her face showing no signs of any emotion. “I don’t think tav made it out yet.”
Halsin couldn’t help but overhear their conversation as the fear started to take over. He wasn’t thinking anymore as he ran towards the docks. It took nearly every one of his companions to hold him back.
“Tav!” He shouted, fighting his companions to let him go. “Where’s my wife?!”
The tears were starting to stream down his cheeks, causing his companions to really feel sorry for him. It was very rare to see the Druid cry, and they weren’t exactly sure how to help him.
“Easy there, tiger,” Karlach interjected, trying her best to calm him down. “Your wife is going to be alright, bear-man. She’s a true soldier, I’m sure she’ll come up eventually.”
Halsin wasn’t having it. Finally breaking free from the party, he was able to transform into an octopus, jumping off the docks and into the water. His eyes scanned the water as he swam deeper towards the shipwreck, looking for any signs that his beloved was nearby, but he hadn’t been able to see anything for miles.
He started to feel guilt, sadness—pain. But just as he was about to give up, he see the distant glare of armor in the distance as light reflected off of it. He started to feel a little hopeful as the swam to the light as fast as he could.
He was starting to see better now. The hair, the armor… the blood… he refused to give up now, swimming as fast as he could until he managed to wrap a tentacles around her. Which probably wasn’t the best thing he could do considering the situation they’ve been in for the past few months. But he knew he couldn’t have saved her with a shark or a crocodile.
Luckily the docks were only a few miles away and then he could find her a healer. He kept swimming, occasionally looking back to see if she was doing alright.
When he finally reached the dock he got rid off the octopus, lifting Tav onto the wood before himself.
Karlach and Astarion ran over to help pull the couple out of the water. As Halsin handed Tav to Astarion, the vampire pulled her out of the water, checking for any signs of a pulse or any breathing. She was unresponsive.
Once Halsin got up, he rushed over to Tav, trying to get her to breathe again. She was bruised and covered in blood from the explosion, and Halsin worried that she wouldn’t make it.
“Someone go find me a medic,” he said frantically. “Quickly! I’m afraid we’re running out of time!”
Shadowheart and Lae’zel exchanged glances before leaving to look for help.
“You know, now’s probably a bad time, but if she doesn’t survive this, I’d happily take the body.” Astarion offered, licking his lips hungrily as he looked at the bloody figure lying before him.
Gale, who recently arrived at the dock while they were getting Tav out of the water, hit the elf in the back of his head, giving him a disapproving look.
Halsin, however, ignored his comment, focused on trying to stop the bleeding and keeping her alive.
It was rare to see Halsin this upset. The other party members had no idea what to do. He usually didn't worry like this, but Tav has already proven to do things to the druid that nobody even thought possible. Sometimes he couldn't help but worry, especially in times like this.
The remaining companions in the area all gathered around the couple. Jaheira and Gale attempted to help calm Halsin down while Wyll and Karlach were tending to Tav's wounds with ripped scraps of clothing, trying to help with the bleeding.
There was no denying that Tav was dead. She had no pulse, she was bleeding more than she should, and she wasn't breathing.
By the time Lae'zel and Shadowheart returned with Withers, Halsin was a weeping mess. The second he saw Withers, the druid wiped his tears away and took a few steps back from the body.
Whithers said a few quick words, and Tav was resurrected. She coughed out the water left in her lungs and gasped for air as Halsin pulled her into a tight embrace.
"I don't ever want to lose you like that again."

Fool For Love
part 4
~~~
part 1, part 2, part 3
~~~
Astarion x reader/Tav
Tags: (mild?) angst, pining, pining while fucking, jealousy, eventual happy ending
Summary: You thought you knew what you were doing when you let Astarion into your bed. He doesn’t have feelings for you, and vice versa. Only… now you do.
You’ve finally made a decision on how to handle it, but it turns out it might not be that easy to actually do as planned.
~~~
It’s as if all the gods have come together to conspire against you. Truly, you wonder if you accidentally angered one or several of them, because after dinner, nothing goes as planned.
First it is Shadowheart, seeking your counsel about a scroll in her possession she wants you to take a look at. Next it is Lae’zel, wanting to discuss again your findings about Orpheus and what it might mean.
You almost scream out loud when Karlach calls for you just as you are finally about to approach Astarion.
You definitely do scream, just a little, when you collide with a tipsy Gale and the collision causes red wine to splatter all over your shirt and trousers. Cursing under your breath, you see Astarion glance your way with a chuckle. As tempting as it is to stomp over and drag him into his tent just to have it over with, you decide a change of clothes first is the wisest course of action.
It’s much less conspicuous, for one — everyone would notice and wonder if you decide to talk to him now — and you need a moment to cool down.
You’re quick about it, grabbing the first clean pieces of clothing you can find — but it’s not quick enough.
When you walk out of your tent again, Astarion is nowhere to be seen. Telling yourself that it’s not strange for you to inquire about his whereabouts, you ask Halsin if he has seen him.
“I think he went to find something to eat.”
“Ah.” Dammit. ”I see.”
You stare into the dark forest surrounding the camp, wondering if it will seem odd if you go after him. Probably not, if they even notice you leave.
In the end, you decide to remain where you are, sitting down by the fire with the others. He will be back sooner or later, and until then, you can enjoy the company of your friends. Or try to, at least.
Astarion’s still not back when Gale suddenly stands and announces that it’s time to head out. Watching them all laugh and banter as they gather blankets and wine, you realise that you should do things like this more often. Take the time to just have fun. Especially now, when what you have to face next is the Shadowlands, a place that sounds more terrifying than anything else your party has encountered so far.
Not counting getting tadpoles inside your head.
It’s actually a quite nice spot Gale has found. Wide stretches of soft grass swaying in the night breeze, the surrounding tree line creating a sense of protection and serenity. If your heart wasn’t already attached to another, you think you would’ve enjoyed going here alone with Gale. Maybe.
“Where’s the food? Surely we need something to snack on too?”
“Karlach…”
Shrugging, Shadowheart held up the bottles in her hands. “Sorry, too busy grabbing the wine.”
“I’ll go,” you offer, because it would be a shame to bring the mood down with unnecessary squabbling. The fact that there’s a chance you might find a certain elf back at camp has absolutely nothing to do with it. Well, maybe a little.
“Thanks, soldier, you’re the best!”
You leave before anyone gets the idea of tagging along. If Astarion is back, you wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to finally talk with him. Even if it ruins the night for one or both of you.
When you get back, you see Withers by his tent. But no Astarion in sight.
“Where is that goddamn man?” You stomp over to his tent. “Astarion? Are you here?”
Nothing.
Muttering to yourself, you take a basket and fill it with bread, cheese, and some fruit. With how everything has gone so far tonight, you grab a bottle of what you presume is wine, because the urge to get blissfully drunk is too hard to resist.
As you trudge back to the others, you wistfully wonder where Astarion has been all night. Was he avoiding you? And if so, why?
“Tav, there you are!” Karlach shoots up from her seat on the blanket and relieves you of the basket. “Look who we found!”
And there he is.
“Astarion.”
Sitting between Halsin and Shadowheart.
“Tav,” Gale pats the spot next to him, “I saved you a seat.”
Of course he did. “Thank you, Gale.”
Even if you had it in you dismiss him, you realise quickly that there’s no other space available. So you sit down, because there’s not much else you can do.
It turns out that the bottle you snagged isn’t wine but rum, but that suits you just fine at this point. You try to listen as Gale talks to you about the constellations he points at, but your focus keeps shifting to Astarion. The way he leans closer to Shadowheart, the way he keeps touching Halsin. You are used to him being a bit of a flirt, but this feels like more. It feels like there’s actual intent behind it and not him just being his usual self.
If you didn’t know any better, you’d say that he’s trying to make you jealous. Which is ridiculous, of course.
Unless it isn’t. You take another swig of the rum. “Ridiculous.”
“I beg your pardon?”
Astarion glances your way but quickly turns to Halsin again when he catches you watching. The bastard. Well, two can play that game. “Oh.” You inch just a little bit closer to Gale. “I was just saying to myself how ridiculously beautiful the sky is.” Smooth, Tav, smooth. You almost roll your eyes at yourself.
Gale smiles. “It is, isn’t it?”
For the next half hour, you make yourself focus on Gale, and Gale alone. He is an interesting man — when he’s not talking about Mystra. In the back of your mind, you know you shouldn’t be doing this, but your drunk brain justifies it by telling yourself that Gale deserves an attentive audience. He’s the reason why you’re all here, after all.
He really is nice — too nice for someone like you. You realise that at some point while observing Gale and Karlach talk about… something. You’re not really listening anymore, once again caught up in your own hazy mind.
The bottle in your hand is almost empty — when did that happen? Oh, right. You have been taking a sip every time you hear Astarion laugh or call someone else a pet name. Stupid idea, that.
With a heavy sigh, you flop back to lie down on the blanket. Everyone’s voices turn into background noise as you stare up at the stars. Or try to, because the world is spinning, spinning, and the last thing you hear before you doze off is someone saying your name.
Part X : I can't go yet...don't let me die
Tumblr media
You all stayed at camp as two of your party members recovered their physical and psychic damage. Not much happened. The second night, Astarion was able to step out, and sit next to the campfire with everyone. Everyone had spent time on their own way - resting. Wyll seemed to have refined a dance. He wanted to share with everyone, and asked for a partner, just as you walked in with a bunch of firewood. Everyone looked at you and Wyll found his volunteer. You indulged him.
It turned out more fun than you had thought.
You enjoyed dancing in a previous life. A life which you cannot remember much of, anymore. Everyone was being merry. Astarion seemed to be recovering because he made some snarky comment at Wyll's dancing skills. Said he always dreamt of marrying a handsome prince charming like Wyll as a kid - making everyone burst out in laughter. Wyll offered to dance with him in return and Astarion turned him down saying he was afraid of being stepped on. After which a funny banter followed.
All was not as bad as it could be.
"You seem to be all better, Astarion. Good to see, soldier. It's all thanks to Halsin's medicine that our dear captain so diligently put on you all night" Karlach beamed, gesturing to you. You felt like a deer in the spotlight. "Ah no no no, I hardly -- " "Of course you did, you followed my instructions perfectly" chimed in Halsin, unhelpfully.
You looked down to the ground blushing. You didn't want to look at Astarion. At this point you may as well hold a sign saying you love him, you thought. "Thank you. Captain." Astarion returned, in a solemn and deep voice. "I owe you my life". "Again." You were sure he said that last word, or did he. It was said very softly, almost to himself.
Everyone was able to march forwards again.
In the underdark the next day, Shadowheart and Karlach were chatting. You wondered if Shadowheart and Astarion had found their way to each other again. You hoped they did. You did not want to come in between real love. "You know, I have a spent time in a crypt. But the underdark, still unsettles me". What?
Astarion had caught up with you.
He was trying to make conversation! You were surprised. "Are you still feeling unwell? Maybe you thought I was someone else?". You blurted out unwittingly. Half joking, but also, not. "Why would you say that? I was perfectly aware who I was walking upto to have an idle chatter with. If you are not interested... however" He feigned being hurt. "You never talk to me, Astarion. This feels very, not normal. Why now?". You were genuinely curious.
"Do I not?" He seemed hurt.
"We haven't spoken a word except last night in the past week". You reminded him, pettily. " I had, a few things to sort through, in my head." He said, a bit distant. "But I feel much better today. Both in body and in mind". "That is very good to hear. We were all worried that night. You were close to falling in the water".
You two then talked a fair bit.
About the incident, about his time as a magistrate in Baldurs gate. A few things about Cazador. You felt there was more to the Cazador story than he let on. But that would have to wait. You were in combat again.
You started with your back to his back.
You had never fought this way before. You felt safer. You cancelled someone trying to cast a spell on the party. Then at one point, while you were momentarily distracted, you saw two hands on either side of you, cast 'ignis' from behind you, as hot flames burst forth. It was so warm for a moment. Not just from the spell but his breathy voice right behind you as he took down your enemy for you.
His face was so close to you.
"Look out!" You were so distracted by his face, you didn't see the arrows coming. Astarion turned you around while shielding you with his back that took the arrows. His armor was enough to save him but that was dangerous. "What are you doing?!," You demanded, slightly frowning since that was reckless. "Saving your distracted self. You're welcome" he snarked back.
And whose fault is that, again. You sighed.
Fighting side by side had it's charms. It gave him advantage on his sneak attacks while you took out any enemies in range. But at one point, towards the end of the battle, you were both near a ledge, when someone set off an explosive and you both fell off. Down into the abyss. You cast feather fall to save your lives and braced for impact.
It didn't hurt as much but you both fell in a pool of rubble dirt and dust that clouded everything. Coughing, you couldn't see in the smoke cloud and dust. The area looked precarious. As if a false step or loud sound would make you go crashing further. Astarion was a few feet away. Coughing.
He crawled towards you. "Are you okay"?
A wooden beam seemed to fall towards you as you looked up. Your mind went blank. You Eldritch blasted it and realized it splattered into a hundred splinters that were now raining down on you. In an instant, Astarion was on you. Fully armored. And he shielded you from the worst of them. You on your back, him on all fours, protecting you.
"What are you doing?"
You were genuinely angry. Why does he keep putting himself in danger for you! Those splinters were not enough to hurt you badly, and you did not need saving from something so trivial. What has gotten into him today. Being the Hero. Didn't he find the idea repulsive? You couldn't understand this man. He definitely disapproved of a lot of your more benevolent choices in the past. And now look at who is being the Hero.
Hypocrite.
You expected him to say he was saving you, and you had your reply ready in your head. That you would have survived just fine. You just needed to remember the right spell.
"I'm being ... grateful".
Is what he said. What? You looked into his eyes. Once again, his face, was very close to yours. "You are a handful. You know that"? He quipped. You were offended. "Excuse me - I cast feath -- " His lips were on yours. He sucked and pulled on your lower lip before parting.
"I -- wa --- "
"Shut up" and he kissed you again. Several times. Quick, rash and hurried. His tongue found yours. You had no time to breathe. Your mind was going blank again. Why does this man do this to you every time. You put your arms around him without thinking when a voice rang out. "You guys ok down there? " Karlach's voice ran out from above.
He tore away instantly.
"Yes! " He promptly got away and waved "we are here!!" "I saved her but now we need help getting out". "You didn't save ---" " Shut up or I will kiss you again". It wasn't the warning that shut you up. But the shock at what was happening... You just stared at him wide eyed. "If you don't believe me, why don't you test me" he smirked. He helped you up. The party had thrown a rope ladder down to you two.
After you. He said.
You held the rope. No, after you. "I'm afraid, my love, that can't be helped" he stood behind you and tugged at the rope to check its strength, he was so close again. "I need to keep my eyes on you darling. " He smirked again as he leaned in and kissed you again. This one was longer and more tender. "For the journey back up, my dear. Who knows when I can tear you away again".
His hand was on your stomach. Tantalizingly close to your breasts. "I would like to savor you more ....later" He said in a very low voice, next to your ears, almost in a whisper. Your head tilted back, he planted one more kiss on your lips and let you go. You gripped the rope hard. Your heard pounding from the kisses he lavished on you.
You tried to focus on the task at hand, and made your way up, slowly. Looking back down every now and again as he smiled up at you.
You resolved to end this turmoil soon.
Back up reunited, you decided to stay with the others the rest of the day. That didn't prevent him from catching your eye and flashing his smile at you every chance he got. You turned away, cheeks flushed and confused, every time.
Back at camp that night, you tore away from everyone, to sort your thoughts through before confronting him. You found a secluded pool, so you stripped to your inners and went in the cool water. You were still uncomfortable being completely naked in the wilderness. Made you feel, vulnerable. Besides - who knew if someone was lurking. These woods were filled with thieves, bandits...vampires.
"There you are, darling. "
Shocked, you turned to see him. "How did you -". He smirked. "Why, I can smell your sweet blood miles away. Did you forget, I'm a... vampire" he winked. You were infuriated - not a moment's peace with this man around. You should have washed your wounds faster. Years of being a predator has given him perfect stalking skills it seemed. Fine. Might as well get it done with. You braced yourself.
Astarion stripped down and got into the water.
Drunken Confessions
Week 2: Drunken Confessions (One-shot)
BG3 Baddies/Lilith Hell Discord server Fanfic prompt
Word count: ~3100 words
Synopsis: After saving the world, the party holds a drunken celebration at the Elfsong. Goofy chaos ensues and Alina (Tav) in her heavily inebriated state confesses her feelings to Astarion.
Tags/Warnings: Named Fem! Tav (Alina), OC Tav with backstory and defined personality, rogue half-elf Tav, spawn Astarion, spoilers for act3, spoilers for the ending of the game, side character Gale, Shadowheart, Lae’zel, Minsc, Jaheira, Halsin and Minthara, reckless alcohol consumption, minor dubcon cause one of them is absolutely blasted, but it’s mostly innocent little kissies on the cheeks etc, attempts at comedy.
Extra special thanks to @charmandabear for helping me by proofreading, fixing grammar errors and giving me insight on how to better my writing!
The party arrived safely back to what remained of the Elfsong. The tavern had been spared from most of the chaos of battle, its structure intact, but a part of its roof collapsed and a couple of its walls with gaping holes in it – almost a fit metaphor for the state of the party.
Karlach and Wyll went off to Avernus and the Emperor disappeared. Astarion had to make a brief vanishing act to escape the sun, emerging back into the group only after Gale located the spellbook that allowed him to cast darkness.
Alina had started crying when Astarion made a run for it and Karlach almost burnt alive. She calmed briefly after each of their little problems was solved, but didn’t stop fully until after they had all settled in the Elfsong.
Lae’zel attempted to voice her plans to leave once they were done, but felt too bad to actually commit once Alina took both of her hands into her own, eyes leaking and lips trembling, shaking her head.
It postponed the githyanki’s departure, possibly indefinitely.
The rest of the party didn’t voice their need to leave, or at least hid any such plans as to not upset Alina even further. After all, they had just barely saved the world and they had a celebration to attend to.
Despite its worn down status, the Elfsong was a sight for sore eyes and the innkeeper was more than happy to return to his everyday job serving food and drinks, instead of fending off against mindflayers and their minions.
The group settled within the tavern’s torn down walls, chose a table and began their celebration with a round of drinks.
“To Karlach and Wyll!” hailed Gale to honor their friends.
“To Karlach and Wyll!” the group repeated and toasted their drinks together.
Alina downed her pint in one go like a thirsty sailor, slamming the empty vessel back against the table, much to everyone’s surprise. She wiped away the foam clinging under her nose and hiccuped loudly. The group broke into laughter and toasted again. Alina giggled, hiccuping again, her small frame already swaying.
All drinks were on the house and the merry making escalated rapidly as the day progressed into the afternoon. Alina managed to down another pint almost immediately after the first one, prompting Shadowheart to ban her from drinking anything else for a while.
“It’s for Karlach and… Wyll… They would have wanted for us to… to… be happy and not sad after winning.” Alina was already partially slurring some of her words, surprising even herself.
“And they would want us to also not die of alcohol poisoning while doing so, I’m sure,” Shadowheart reminded Alina, patting her in the back while holding her own freshly poured cup of wine in the other.
This seemed to work and kept Alina from drinking for a good while, coming down to a comfortable buzz after Gale convinced her to eat something to soak up the alcohol.
She wasn’t much of a drinker in her free time and thus didn’t have much experience when it came to drinking. She did a lot of taste testing and sampled each concoction carefully before deciding if she liked it, only finishing those she did. She got her samples by stealing from the cups of her friends, mostly from Gale.
She distracted him by hugging him first, then poked him on the shoulder from behind, duping him into turning towards the non existent person trying to get his attention, allowing her to take a loud slurp from the goblet in his hands.
Gale chuckled at Alina’s antics but loudly reprimanded her with a couple choice words after falling for her cheap trick for the third time, forcing Shadowheart to come and help put a stop to the blatant drink thievery, only to end up as the next victim.
She forced a giggling Alina to sit down with her around a lone table, closely monitoring the rogue with both of her arms crossed, a full wine goblet in front of her. Alina had her own goblet full of water in front of her, but when Shadowheart’s attention inevitably faltered, the rogue used the moment to swap their drinks.
Shadowheart turned to watch Alina gleefully down her supposed goblet of water and smiled approvingly, taking a victorious sip of her own, quickly finding out the trickery.
What followed was a full on pursuit with Shadowheart and Gale chasing after Alina while she went on a wild alcohol motivated crime spree, stealing as many sips from as many of her friend’s drinks as she could. Laughter rumbled from all over the tavern that had slowly filled up with more patrons as the day progressed.
After getting apprehended by none other than Halsin and told to slow down, Alina calmed down like a tamed feral kitten, already feeling the booze take effect. Shadowheart and Gale sighed of relief, settling into their own merry-making, knowing for certain that Halsin’s gentle authority would keep Alina in line, and it did.
She slowed down remarkably, most definitely due to her absolutely hammered state.
She was mostly a giddy drunk, happily singing and dancing around the tavern with everyone who would engage with her. However, her joy would take a brief, yet intense nosedive whenever she remembered their missing companions, oftentimes triggering the moodswing herself by trying to find either Karlach or Wyll. She would sink to a low, depressive slouch, ugly crying until comforted and reminded that despite being forced to leave, they were both still alive and well.
Hopefully.
But that was something nobody wanted to add.
After the fourth bout of crying, it was Jaheira’s turn to console Alina, - Gale, Shadowheart, and Halsin had each had their turns already. In a rare motherly fashion, the druid decided it was better for the rogue to take a break from drinking and sit down at the sidelines to separate her from all the wild partying of the others.She tutted at the young half-elf while guiding her under her arm away from the loud center of the tavern, soothing her with druidic words of wisdom about “rivers always finding the sea at the end” and “strong roots that joined trees that were distances apart.”
Alina sniffled and nodded at her, allowing herself to be seated in one of the quieter corners of the tavern, right next to Astarion. The vampire was lounging in one of the more comfortable seats the tavern had to offer, a leather armchair with a small foot rest.
He was swirling his wine in a goblet, one empty bottle next to him and another one halfway done on the table, terribly bored being his inability to get drunk in the traditional way.
He raised an eyebrow seeing Jaheira half carrying a clearly very drunk Alina to sit next to him.
“Keep an eye on her and don’t let her drink anymore.” Jaheira gestured towards Alina.
“...What? I’m not a-”
A loud crash sounded off from the other end of the tavern. Minsc had accidentally broken a table by drunkenly trying to demonstrate a handstand upon it, shattering a bunch of wine bottles, glasses and a couple pints on his way down towards the floor through it.
“Minsc is fine! No worries friends!” the ranger called from the floor while groaning, sounding remarkably sober but struggling to orient himself.
Boo squeaked something from the front counter, safely tucked inside a small, makeshift hanging swing with a biscuit in its paws.
“Ah, Boo! Your wisdom is truly boundless!” Minsc exclaimed, and supposedly tried to follow the hamster’s advice by rolling himself over, somehow failing.
Lae’zel, though nearby, was of no help, being absolutely smashed after winning a drinking contest against a couple dwarves that Shadowheart had goaded her into. The githyanki was muttering incomprehensible things in her native tongue, while clumsily offering the drunk ranger still struggling on the floor a chair to continue the handstand demonstration on, all the while barely staying on her own two feet.
A heavily wine-tipsy Shadowheart sat next to the two, too busy laughing at the fallen ranger and the fumbling githyanki to try to help. She laughed hard enough to double over and ended up falling on the floor herself.
Gale was unable to help as he had been passed out for more than an hour after enjoying one glass of wine too many. He laid on his front on the floor near the fireplace, half-naked, all limbs spread open like a starfish.
Halsin was nowhere to be seen at first glance, but one could spot a snoring bear surrounded by a pile of empty honey mead bottles under the table near the counter.
Minthara sat smirking at the chaos from the opposite end of the tavern. Legs crossed on top of a table, wine glass in hand, unwilling to meddle and ruin the wild entertainment her companions provided her, while Scratch laid sleeping under her chair.
Jaheira snapped her attention back towards Astarion and gestured towards the chaos that had unraveled before them, beckoning him to go sort out the mess in her stead. The vampire spawn wrinkled his nose at the wordless suggestion, leaned back on his chair, extended his arm towards Alina and gave her shoulder a couple small clumsy pats, content on his less burdensome task. Jaheira scoffed at him and went to sort out the drunken mess.
Astarion watched the druid leave and emptied his wine goblet before turning to look at Alina. She was slowly getting over her most recent crying fit while Jaheira began to put things and people in order in the background.
Astarion gave Alina the best smile he could muster, uncomfortable and unsure how to approach the situation. He cleared his throat to get her attention.
“Darling, you look awful.”
Alina just nodded at him.
“… I know,” she sniffled and rubbed her swollen eyes.
She raised her head to stare at nothing in particular and contemplated her words before speaking up again.
“Is just… I love them so much. Wyll and Karlach. The Emperor too… well. The Emperor… in a way, sort of. I think,” Alina babbled and blinked, her inebriated state giving her great difficulty in grasping her thoughts.“I miss them already.”
Astarion nodded and refilled his wine goblet.“Well, there’s nothing much we can do for any of them at the moment. What’s done is done. The Netherbrain is defeated and the tadpoles are gone. Hooray for victory,” he sighed bitterly while taking another useless gulp of wine.
Alina caught him off guard when she suddenly climbed into his lap, practically draping herself over him. He had to put down his goblet to use both of his arms to prevent her from falling off.
“...sorry,” Alina mumbled against his shoulder.
“Pardon?” Astarion asked blankly while securing her against himself.
“I’m sorry… you can’t walk under the sun… anymore, it must have been painful...” she lifted her face to speak clearer and hugged him tighter.
“Oh, darling, that…”
“I love you too, you know.”
Astarion froze and stopped breathing for a solid minute. He would have liked to see Alina’s face, but she had leaned it out of view over his shoulder. He turned his head slowly towards her, burying his nose into her brown locks. She smelled of fresh apples, vanilla, booze and saltwater. A strange combination that shouldn’t have smelled as nice as it did.
“It’s not fair… You deserve happiness, true happiness…after everything… you went through,” she continued, caressing his back up and down in comforting motions. “I’m sorry we didn’t find… a solution, and you got hurt.” Alina’s fingers dug into the back of his jacket, crumpling it in her sloppy grasp.
Astarion was speechless. He felt his head slump against Alina’s, his arms hesitantly holding her back. He nodded, barely moving his head as he swallowed dryly.
Jaheira, in the meantime, was almost done getting everyone back up, patiently reprimanding Minsc for causing destruction, helping Shadowheart up from the ground and commanding Lae’zel to sit on the chair she was still holding onto.
“Well darling, if it’s any consolation…”
Alina hiccuped loudly, interrupting him.
Astarion rubbed her back.
“...As I was saying, if it-”
Alina hiccuped loudly again.
She pulled her upper body away from Astarion and met his gaze, eyes wide.
“Uh-HIC-huh?”
Astarion sucked in his lips for a brief moment, trying to keep himself from laughing. Alina hiccuped again while waiting for him to finish.
“I’m going to hold my breath.” Alina stated, drunkenly confident.
“I don’t think it’s a…”
But Alina had already inhaled deeply and was puffing out her cheeks, trying to hold her breath. Astarion had trouble keeping his composure. Another hiccup made Alina jump in place and she frowned with annoyance before she stubbornly inhaled more air into her lungs. Astarion stopped breathing alongside her, like a strange show of camaraderie.
Her face began to turn red, but the hiccup didn’t let up.
“Unlike me, you will eventually suffocate if you do not breathe, sweetheart,” Astarion reminded helpfully.
Alina shook her head at him, eyes scrunched shut so tightly she could pass for a mummy.
She hiccuped again.
The fury in Alina’s eyes was comically over the top when she was forced to exhale and start breathing again, the hiccup undefeated.
Astarion burst into laughter.
The momentary disappointment in Alina’s face was taken over by confusion, then a curious humor.
“What? Is my -HIC- struggle -HIC- funny to -HIC- you?” Alina chuckled to herself, trying to feign anger at Astarion.
“Oh yes. Yes it is, my sweet.” Astarion grinned wide, all sharp fangs interrupting rows of perfect teeth.
Alina grinned with him, still hiccuping every now and then.
“I… love hearing you laugh,” Alina said, somehow managing to stifle the hiccup.
Astarion settled, searching through Alina’s joyful gaze with his own.
“And seeing you grin like that,” she paused, pressing a finger against Astarion’s upper lip, parting it slightly to show one of his fangs.
Her focus was intense enough to forget about the hiccups.
“I think... your fangs are cute. Makes me think of… kissing them. Sometimes.” Alina focused on his lips and went quiet.
Her hiccups stopped, but she didn’t notice.
Alina began forming useless shapes with her mouth, face reddening while clearly struggling to think. She blinked rapidly, as if it would somehow help her form more coherent thoughts. Her eyes began to flicker between Astarion’s eyes and mouth.
“I… think about... kissing you… a lot, actually.”
Alina’s gaze met Astarion’s again, this time maintaining eye contact. She licked her lips and giggled shyly. Astarion nodded silently and licked his own lips, eyes staring unblinkingly at Alina. He raised a hand to gently cup her cheek, brushing his thumb over her freckles.
“Then… why don’t you?”
Alina’s smile was gone in an instant. The rest of her face bloomed red, the blush creeping all the way down to her neck and up to the tips of her ears. She swallowed nervously and grew hesitant.
“W-would it… be alright…?” she asked as a strained whisper.
Astarion smirked and tilted his head, raising a curious brow at her. He watched as Alina breathed slowly in front of him, waiting for his answer. He could hear the way her heart hammered inside her chest, pumping heated, alcohol filled blood through her veins. Even wasted beyond reason, she was still adorably considerate.
“If you want to.”
“W-where… would it be… alright to?”
“Anywhere you want, sweet Alina…” he purred her name and drank in the way she practically melted on his lap.
Alina nodded, the unfocused look in her eyes telling him that his words barely registered. She gave him a shy smile, then turned serious before lifting a clumsy hand to map out his face.
Astarion watched as Alina trailed her fingers up along his cheek, over his temple and brushed through some of the unruly curls covering his pointy ears. Her eyes met his gaze again and she gave him another shy, earnest grin.
“…cute,” she said and leaned closer to his face.
Her expression turned thoughtful once again as her fingertips brushed along Astarion’s cool skin, feeling it over like delicate silk. She finally shut her eyes and pressed a soft kiss on the hollow of his cheek, just below his cheekbone.
She pulled away with her face lowered, giggling like crazy. Astarion couldn’t help but grin with her.
“Is that all?” he asked her.
Alina’s alcohol-hazed thoughts scattered even more upon his question. Her golden eyes gleamed with reserved interest and she bit on her lower lip, shaking her head slowly.
“Well, go ahead then, love.”
Some kind of suffocated sound escaped Alina’s lungs before she nodded and raised a shaky hand to cup his face again. She pressed a soft kiss on his other cheek this time, pulled back with an unsure look, then kissed his cheek slightly higher after he blinked in confirmation.
From there, she didn’t need more encouragement and showered Astarion with kisses all over his face, his temples, forehead, jawline and even the tip of his nose, tactfully avoiding the area near his lips.
Her breath smelled heavily of a variety of different kinds of booze and her lips left warm, slightly moist patches wherever she pressed them.
Alina pulled away and tried to blink away the delirium caused by the kissing, cheeks deliciously flushed, lips gleaming slightly. Astarion maintained a smile throughout the whole show of affection, finding himself humming when Alina kissed closer to his ears.
Alina brushed her thumb against his chin and pressed one final kiss inside the borders of his laugh lines.She pulled back heaving and grinned.
“I… I think I’m drunk.”
Astarion chuckled.
“You think so?”
Alina nodded, dead serious.
“What do you want to do now, miss drunk?”
“I want to…”
Alina squirmed on Astarion’s lap and nestled herself against his chest, head rested just under the side of his jaw, eyes gazing upwards at him adoringly.
“I want to stay here, if it’s… alright with you?”
“Hmm-mmh. Perfectly fine, sweetheart.”
Alina smiled and placed her open palm against his chest.
“I love you a lot, you know.”
“I… think I do, darling,” he smiled down at her, raised a hand, and hesitated briefly before brushing it through her hair.
“Hmmm,” Alina hummed and leaned into the touch.
For the rest of the evening, Alina sat comfortably in Astarion’s embrace, lounging with him on the leather armchair in their private little corner, slowly sobering up while trying to sneak sips from his wine goblet and being tricked into drinking water instead.
She would thank him later for it, suffering a milder hangover compared to everyone else who drank.
So after 700 hours of gaming, four restarts due to glitches, five or more different startings, I finally FINALLY finished a playthrough of BG3. SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT
So, the playthrough I finished, funny enough, is a Durge run with my girl Octavia. She's a fucking badass monster who wooed God Gale and Ascended Astarion (thank you mods 🙏) and I saved before making the big choice of whether or not to take control yourself or kill the netherbrain. And (of course) I had her control the brain first choice. And I'm kind sad that there was nothing more. Like, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing her sit on that throne of hers and say 'In my name's like the Queen she is. But Ascended Astarion, who was also all for taking over everyone and the world, was not standing by her side. Even after watching with a satisfied smirk as she took control of their friends. And even more so, since he was by her side, I'm a little disappointed there wasn't an ending with them both showing, taking over the world afterwards. A bit of lackluster ending tbh.
HOWEVER, I did reload so I could see the other ending(s). Something definitely glitched with my mod, as I am supposed to get all endings of the ones my 'Tav' is dating. But I had to reload in for those as well. Nonetheless, here are my thoughts on those.
First: God Gale. Sad I didn't get a bed scene with him, but also understandable since he was away looking for the crown. Loved that I could act like I totally didn't want to be a goddess by Gale's side to Tara and had her wanting me to visit Gale's mom. Gale, darling, love. You wouldn't have gotten the crown without my help in the first place. Step down from the clouds a bit and kneel to your queen goddess. Love you, kisses. Thank you for taking me up to heavens with you my love 🖤
Second: Ascended Astarion. Ho ho ho oh my gods. Haha I hate that I love it. But it's also so perfect for my evil little Queen. She fits by his side to rule so perfectly. The matching outfits he insisted on and the subtle "I should have been the one throwing the party" 😂 My darling, you can throw one at our castle and invite all our dearest friends. I promise. Now, pour me some blood so I can sit up on your lap
Over all, still a 10/10. Looking forward to finishing my other 'Tav's to see their endings. I'll be sure to update the poly mod for my self insert too cause I'll be romancing Shadowheart, Gale, Astarion, and Halsin 🥰🖤🖤
I leave you with the gorgeous Queen herself: In Her name
The tension at camp is high. There's a mysterious person in the artifact Shadowheart possesses and it just happens to be Githyanki. The wizard is a ticking time bomb, and the magistrate is a rogue and a vampire? Tav's mind swims as they think of their merry band of misfits. If they don't do something quickly, they may not make it to Moonrise Towers in one piece. Ceremorphosis won't take them, but a "friendly" blade will.
Wyll and Karlach approach the campfire, smiling just as warmly as Wyll clears his throat. "Friends, gather round. We should do something to relax our minds just for a moment. We don't know what we will face once we reach the Shadowlands."
Karalch nods as she sits down. "It'll be hard fighting out there if we're fighting each other." The unexpected allies are the only ones that make sense to Tav as they nod, flashing a grateful smile to the Warlock as he sits next to Karlach.
Astarion scoffs, sauntering over, "My version of fun, and your versions of fun might be a bit juvenile, darlings, but let's see what you have to offer." He sits next to Tav, resting his hands on the ground as he leans back. Tav mimics him unconsciously as their pinkies almost touch, shoulders brushing. He pretends not to notice as he watches Gale sit next to him, rubbing his beard. "I may have a few games from Waterdeep we can do as well."
The others filter in, glares shared by Shadowheart and Lae'zel with more mutual hesitation on what Karlach and Wyll have prepared for them.
Karlach is practically buzzing as she holds an empty bottle in her hands. Tav makes a face. "Let me guess, Spin the Bottle? 7 Minutes in Elysium?"
Wyll gently nudges Karlach with a quiet 'I told you so.'
"There was a game in Avernus that the Cambions liked. Slap or Kiss. Spin a bottle and you can either slap the person or kiss them." Karlach explains.
Lae'zel's eyes light up at the rules. "We should do this game. If it lands on Shadowheart, the violence will be sanctified."
"Why wait?" Shadowheart snaps back, her ponytail whipping. Halsin chuckles, watching as Tav stands to be the mediator. "You have any other ideas?" They ask, frustration building.
Wyll nods, "Yes. It's a game about truth. Could clear the air." Tav relaxes as Wyll explains the rules, handing everyone scraps of parchment and quills. For a moment Tav wonders how they have enough ink pots and quills until they remember how much they pick up when they're out. It must have slipped their mind.
The rules are simple. Everyone will write truths and lies about themselves and everyone will guess what is the truth and to whom it belongs. Wyll stresses that they cannot write about others, causing a ch'k and an eye roll from Lae'zel and Astarion.
Tav hopes everyone will follow the rules, hoping for a night of fun and laughter as they patiently wait for the others to finish with their truth and a lie.
Astarion leans over, his lips brushing against their ear. "I'm sure you'll guess mine correctly, darling," He purrs in their ear, his cooler hand on their back. Tav smiles as their heart stumbles over itself, and the pressure. They had to do their best now, no bullshitting.
"Astarion, you should go first," Wyll says, a dashing smile on his face.
"Why? Shouldn't you?" Astarion crosses his arms, fake pouting.
"Oh, well because your name begins with an A, I figured that would be the smartest option, but we can start at the end of course. I don't mind."
Tav admires how level-headed Wyll can be, needing it to rub off on them so they can handle all these personalities. He picks up the bowl they tossed their scraps in, clearing his throat before he starts speaking. "Clive is the relic I have of my parents." His voice softens as he glances at his friend. "Aww, Karlach, is that true?"
Her cheeks deepen in color as she nods. "Damn, I should have gone a little more elusive on my truth, huh?"
"I'm sorry to hear that Karlach. However, a bear no matter the size is noble. You should cherish Clive." Halsin chimes in, stopping himself from patting her on the shoulder.
"Yeah, yeah, now I'm embarrassed. Someone else goes now."
She says waving away the attention as Wyll hands Shadowheart the bowl. She grimaces as she pulls out a paper, reading it silently first. "My favorite color is yellow. This is incredibly vague and boring." Her eyes cut to Halsin.
"It could be any of us," Gale chimes in, a big smile on his lips. "Is you then?" Tav asks, a little surprised. Everything he wears is purple.
"Ah, no. I didn't write it either, unfortunately. I wouldn't surprised if it's Lae'zel's or Astarion's."
Lae'zel shakes her head. "I didn't write anything as meaningless as my favorite color and if I did, it would have been red like the dragons of Tu'narath."
Astarion clicks his tongue as he nods, "Both of mine are also more interesting than a color. I do agree with Lae'zel on the color but for more sanguine reasons."
Lae'zel rolls her eyes. "We do all know that, Astarion. Just like we know you're a vampire. If you wrote that as your truth, then you are no better than this color nonsense."
He scoffs as he turns to Tav to defend him. Tav gives him a nervous smile, "You didn't write that you're a vampire right?"
He flails his hand about, "There are other things about me than my vampirism." He sits up, shaking his head, "It's obviously one of Halsin's. It's boring enough."
Tav frowns as Halsin laughs, so much energy going around the circle. "How did you figure me out?" He asks, sitting forward.
"I figured because you turn into a bear. Something about honey." Shadowheart replies, handing Karlach the bowl next.
"You are as keen as you are beautiful," Halsin says, bowing his head slightly towards her.
Shadowheart laughs, covering her mouth with her hand and a new blush that creeps around her neck.
Karlach smiles as she reaches in, grabbing from the bottom. "Right, now where were we? Here we go: I prefer Blingdenstone Blush over most wines. It's a treat." She beams as she looks towards Shadowheart. "I know this is a lie for you because you told me you liked Stagswift."
Shadowheart smirks as she raises her glass to Karlach, "Smart girl. I do like Blingdenstone, but something about that tonic."
"If I remember correctly, monasteries carry it heavily," Gale chimes in.
"Perhaps that's why I have a taste for it." Shadowheart muses as Karlach hands Halsin the bowl.
This is going surprisingly smoothly with rarely a verbal argument or physical altercation. Tav shifts their eyes around, guessing who would be the first to be offended by something said.
Halsin picks the first scrap his fingers touch. "Before I read this, I just wanted to say thank you for including me. I know we haven't known each other long, but I do appreciate this. Makes me feel young even just for a moment."
Tav's lips slowly spread to a smile, "Of course. Withers could have joined us too if he wanted." Laughs and disgusted noises come from everyone at the mention of their mysterious skeletal friend.
"He barely tells us what he is. He wouldn't do this," Shadowheart says before taking a sip of her wine. "True, but it would have been funny," Tav adds as Halsin reads his strip.
"I fear I may never be good enough for anyone to truly love me."
A silence falls over the camp as the words resonate. Another emotional one.
Tav looks around checking to see if anyone looks mortified to have their words read out loud. Astarion's gaze is fixed on the moon, a wistful look in his eyes, a million miles away. Maybe it's him? It would surprise them if he chose to get deep during this little game.
They look over at Gale pursing his lips. It matches with what he's told as well with Mystra and his orb.
"Astarion, is this you?" Tav decides, their brows knitting together. Though they keep their feelings for Astarion light, they do care about him more than they have revealed so far. He wouldn't have to worry about how others see him with Tav.
Astarion blinks, coming back to his mind, confusion on his face. "What in the devil do you mean if it's me?" Tav's eyebrows raise as their heart quickens.
"Oh. You just looked sad."
His soft red round eyes sharpen as he scowls. "It's sad that you would think I would be worried about that." His voice shakes slightly as he speaks. Even if it isn't his truth, there is truth there.
"I'm sorry," Tav says holding his hand.
"You should be. Besides, it's obviously Wyll, Mr. Hero himself."
Wyll chuckles as he puts his hand over his heart. "Guilty as charged."
Karlach and Halsin compliment him for what he's done so far as Lae'zel is handed the bowl.
Astarion isn't listening as the game continues, gently squeezing Tav's hand ever so often. He is still offended that they thought that truth was about him, but won't say anything as he ignores Tav's glances. Tav almost leans over to ask if he's alright, but they don't want to bring more attention to it, not in front of everyone at least.
The companions end on a good note however, only small snides are made towards each other, but in jest. They decide to end after all the scraps are read since they'll have an early morning in the Creche.
As they all go to their tents and bedrolls, Tav may have even seen Shadowheart and Lae'zel be cordial, hands close. But it could have been the moonlight playing tricks on their eyes.
Astarion's hand slips into Tav's as they head to their tent. Relief washes over Tav as they turn to their lover. "That went better than expected," Tav says before bringing his hand to their lips and kissing his knuckles.
"Well, it would have been more entertaining if there had been some bloodshed instead of this cute togetherness, but to each their own, I suppose." Astarion rolls his eyes when Tav chuckles.
"We can save that for our battles. We have plenty to come."
"Ugh, I hate when you're right."
Tav steps closer, their previous anxiety coming back. "I'm also sorry for thinking Wyll's truth was yours."
He waves away the apology, "I suppose it can be valid. But…" He holds their face between his fingers, his round eyes pouring into theirs. "Do you think that of me?"
Tav bites their lip, weighing their next words carefully. "I think you deserve the world, Astarion."
He laughs softly as he lets their face go. "Go on," He purrs. Tav can feel a switch within him, the vulnerability being walled off. "And one day, the moment you know you do, without it being for just power, you will have it."
He flares his nostrils before quickly pecking their lips. "You are too sweet. But you have killed my libido with this sweet talk. I shall be to your bedroll later on, as promised, but you will have a good night's rest."
Tav's mouth drops open slightly as Astarion lets them go, walking to his tent.
Tav stays where they are, mind reeling. They shouldn't be surprised and one day he could change. But for now… They won't give up on their hope that he will realize it soon.
The sun had barely started to rise as the party made their way to the goblin camp. The sky had opened slightly, a fine drizzle misting the wilderness as you all headed West, your belongings packed away in your bags of holding.
"Right...so we infiltrate the camp, take no prisoners. Unless, of course, there are prisoners, and we help them escape," Wyll said, marching forward as our brave leader, "Zevlor and Nettie said that we should be able to find Halsin easily - he is 'unmistakable', apparently. And will help us not only with these parasites, but also to talk some sense into Kagha when he returns with us, apparently."
The rest of the party murmured in agreement, but you couldn't help and sneak looks towards Astarion every once and a while - of course, with no reciprocation. Thankfully, nothing had happened last night once you had gone back to your tent...at least, nothing you knew of. So with that in mind, you were even more confused as to what Astarion was doing - there was no way he had really heard something in the woods and investigated, was there? Especially since you hadn't heard anything.
Astarion, as you were quickly finding out, was acting like nothing had happened. Sure, he was avoiding you, but that was nothing new. It seemed you were the only one perturbed by the situation last night...but since nothing had happened or gone missing, you decided to let it lie, and only bring it up to the rest of the party if your suspicions continued.
By mid morning, we came across a wild boar on the road, turned over in death.
"What happened to it?" Shadowheart asked curiously, tilting her head. We stopped for a moment, examining it.
"Oh, who cares about a wild animal...don't we have goblins to kill? A giant elf druid to save? Perhaps some gold to loot?" Astarion asked quickly, almost cutting her off. You eyed him suspiciously but stepped closer to the boar, feeling it's fur.
"It's stone cold," You spoke. "And...weirdly deflated?" You walked around it, examining it from every angle, "It's almost been drained from the inside but...I see no blood? Hells, that's so odd."
"There," Shadowheart said, pointing to its thick neck, "Puncture wounds. Something bit it...could that have been where the blood had gone?"
You shrugged, standing up straight again, "Beats me. But...we should keep going."
Astarion groaned and rolled his eyes, throwing his arms up in the air, "That's what I just said!"
A little while later, you all had arrived on a bridge, which happened to be covered in blood.
Oh...excellent.
"What in the hells happened here?" Gale asked suspiciously, twisting his head to further investigate without moving. You and Wyll stepped forward, looking at the mangled bodies on the ground - some sort of animal, stomachs bloated and blown out.
"Gods, that's disgusting." You murmured, squatting down to further investigate. Their insides had be splattered on the ground, intestines like thick ropes before them. A moment of silence passed before Wyll gasped, gripping his rapier.
"Those are hyenas," He said, unsheathing his weapon. "Which means -"
"Gnolls!" Karlach shouted, pointing to the cliff before us. We turned immediately and a gang of gnolls pounced, having snuck up on us. Snapping into actions, we grabbed our weapons and spread, creating an unspoken formation.
As we fought through the gnolls, blood spattering over our armor and clothes, we recognized we were outnumbered.
"Atriss, watch out!" Shadowheart screamed, causing you to turn on your heel to face her.
Coming face to face with a particularly giant gnoll, you screamed in surprise, no time to conjure a spell. The gnoll's sword was coming down to meet your shoulder as you fumbled with the dagger in your holster, trying to move out of it's way.
Suddenly, the gnoll shrieked in horror, dropping it's sword. Falling on it's side immediately, it convulsed, blood pouring out of it's mouth. You looked behind it and saw Astarion, both of his daggers imbedded in the gnoll's stomach. He retracted his weapons with a loud, slick sound, and wicked off the excess blood. You stared at him and he looked up at you finally, cocking an eyebrow.
"Don't thank me." He said, immediately turning to take on another gnoll. Your mind started to race, pissed off that Astarion had helped you in some way...even though you knew you'd do the same for him. Time to think was short since you had more gnolls to fight, but you couldn't help your mind returning back to Astarion over and over again.
Tumblr media
The night was still drizzling slightly as camp was finally set up, about a half a mile away from the goblin camp. Unfortunately, the gnoll fight - though you all made it through - had taken a bit of a toll on the party, so Gale suggested being safer, rather than sorry.
A quick meal of fresh fruit and bread made for dinner as you all took turns using (and re-filling) the wash bucket in camp.
"I'll take first watch," Wyll said, settling down in front of the small fire, "Since Astarion and Gale took watch last night."
"I don't mind," Astarion said quickly, causing surprising looks from the companions to be cast upon him. He stuttered quickly, seemingly to catch himself, "I can't sleep, anyway."
"Nonsense!" Wyll said, not noticing Astation's seeming deception, "No one will watch two nights in a row.
Astarion seemed to deflate when it was decided that Lae'zel would take second watch, though he sullenly obliged. He quickly snuck a look at you as you decided on the watch order, and you knew at that moment that he was hiding something.
The rain had stopped, drying quickly in the humid air. The fire felt nice as you had curled up next to it, relaxing a bit before you would officially retire for the evening. Wyll started his rounds - announcing he was going to search the perimeter for an hour or so - and you closed your eyes, relaxing in the bedroll you had set out to watch the stars on.
You didn't realize it, but sleep quickly took you over, leaving you no room to stargaze that evening.
A little while later, you awoke with a shock, immediately sitting up on the bedroll in a state of panic. Before you could even look around, you felt eyes on you, and when you turned your head, you saw Astarion, crouched in a compromising position.
"I knew it!" You hissed, sitting on you feet, causing him to take a step back. His mouth hung open and he threw up his hands. "I knew you weren't to be trusted! What were you about to do, kill me? Maim me?"
"Please, no! It's not what it looks like!" He said, his voice low, looking around to make sure no one was waking.
"Well you have about ten seconds to explain yourself before I incinerate your ass, so get to it."
"I...I-I..." Astarion stuttered, his brows furrowed. Your heart was racing as you reached for your dagger. Astarion quickly (but gently) grabbed your wrist so you were unable to do so, "I'm hungry!"
You stopped, looking at him quizzically. "And you're...a cannibal? Which is why you were...about to eat me?"
"Gods, no! What in the bloody hells do you take me for?" Astarion asked, rolling his eyes and letting go of your wrist. He mirrored you, sitting back on his feet. A moment of silence passed before he opened his mouth wider, baring...fangs. His eyes darted between yours, and the fact that they were a ruby red color seemed to click into place.
"You're a vampire," You breathed at once, it finally dawning on you.
"Vampire spawn. All of the trauma, half of the fun." His voice was thick with sarcasm.
"So that was your little secret," Suddenly, you gasped, "That's why you wanted first watch. Gods, did you do that to the boar we saw earlier?"
"Yes, of course I did. Animals are my only meal - anything I can get my hands on," Astarion sighed again, "But ever since leaving that ship, I've just been feeling so weak and hungry...I thought maybe..." His voice trailed off, a slight blush rising to his cheeks.
"You thought 'maybe I'll just feed off of one of my companions, who I don't really like all that much, and she wouldn't notice? Oh, and while we're at it, I'll keep it a secret, even though she'll wake up with a giant bite mark on her neck'? Are you stupid?"
"Um, no, actually, I am not stupid, thank you. I'm just hungry!" His voice rose a bit and he winced, lowering it again, "I thought for certain you would, at best, shout for help, and at worst, kill me. So I decided to keep it a secret...I get to feed, you only feel a bit woozy tomorrow morning...it truly isn't all that bad of a situation at all."
You eyed him, trying to find what he was really about. Somehow, as you searched his eyes, it seemed that Astarion was telling the truth - his intense hunger seemed to overtake his (according to him, "not stupid") brain.
If you were a vampire spawn in his situation, you weren't entirely sure that you wouldn't do the same thing.
You sighed heavily, finally relaxing your shoulders, "If you feed on me...nothing happens to me?"
"Nothing," Astarion responded, almost immediately, "Just like I said - a bit woozy for a bit, but nothing more than that. And I gain my strength back." His eyes looked eager, almost pleading. A moment of silence stretched by before you answered him.
"Okay."
"Okay?"
"You may...feed on me," You said. Astarion almost leapt into action immediately but you placed your hands on his chest to stop him, "But only as much as you need, and nothing more. And if you try and sneak a bite at me - or anyone else here - at any time, expect a stake in your heart, got it?"
Astarion nodded enthusiastically. He smirked, his usual charm returning, "Lay down...so you can be more comfortable."
You eyed him as you laid down on your back again, your heart racing a bit. Astarion slowly lowered himself on to you, his eyes not leaving yours. You felt his breath tickle your face, your lips only centimeters apart.
It was very intimate, especially for someone who you wanted to basically push off a cliff just mere hours before.
"Are you ready?" His voice was soft, low. You nodded slowly, a feeling of heat in your belly suddenly appearing. You pushed the thought - Astarion, on top of you, his lips close to yours, his groin pressed to yours - away, trying to steady your breathing. Astarion gently pushed your head to the side, brushing your hair away from your neck. "I'm going to bite now...okay?"
You nodded again, afraid of what to expect. Suddenly, Astarion's lips were on your neck, and his arm wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer to him. His other arm steadied him, protectively next to your body. His lips were frigid against your neck, and you felt his fangs graze against your skin before pressing in, Astarion having to use a bit of force to pierce.
Your breath hitched, a freezing sensation sweeping your body. Waves of both arousal and pain rushed from head to toe, your arms involuntarily wrapping themselves around Astarion's back. His arm around your waist held you closer, squelching sounds coming from his mouth. You felt the blood leave your body, you vision turning fuzzy. A loud, strangled moan escaped your mouth, and Astarion pulled back, staring at you.
Your blood dripped from his fangs as he gently returned you to the bedroll, wiping his mouth. "That...was amazing," He said, "I must admit...you were my first human. Quite possibly the best meal I've had in 200 years." He smirked, his voice low with lust.
Feeling dizzy, you tried to sit up, desperate to get back to your tent now. Astarion rushed into action, helping you stand, gripping your hands.
"Careful now," His voice was in your ear, and he guided you to your tent. Your head was woozy, and your thoughts were jumbled. Astarion undid the flaps to your tent, leading you in, "You will feel better in the morning, I promise. And you will sleep probably the best you ever have in your life tonight." He chuckled, sitting you on the bed.
"Thank you." You said, your thoughts, though far away, seemed to return more with every passing moment. Blinking a few times, you started to feel more normal. Finally looking at Astarion, your heart skipped a beat.
Well...that was new.
Astarion stood up once he had realized you were safe for the evening, and made his way to the exit of your tent. Before he left, he looked back at you.
"That was a gift you know," He started, looking straight into your eyes. His emotion was unreadable...was it...softness? "...I won't forget it."
And with that, he left your tent, leaving you to sleep for the evening.
⚠️Blood warning
─────────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹─────────
You walk in an open field, the grass and flowers dancing in the wind, swaying back and forth as you pluck flowers near you of all colours, putting them into a woven basket that you hold in your hand.
Being a drow and living in the under dark did have its fall at times but it was your home, but one you will never go back to after being free of the darkness that it had held.
Oh, how lovely it was to feel the sun hitting your cold skin and the fresh air, looking down at your basket to see that you had enough flowers to make what you needed you look around looking for somewhere to sit as your eyes land on a big rock laying on the ground.
Walking over to it you take a sea, setting the basket next to you as you watch the clouds move in the blue sky as they fly by.
'You had been taken by the mind fayers unknown why or how you do not remember as much as you think you should but had escaped with a githyanki called Lae'zel and a half-elf called Shadowheart after getting to the control part of the ship, not remembering what had happened after that as well.
Expected falling and being caught by some sort of magic?, after that, the rest is a blur finding Shadowheart then Lae'zel, Astarion, Gale, wyll and Karlach as you became a party. When meeting Wyll you meet people in a druid's grove, a tiefling called Zevlor had asked you to find a druid called Halsin who had been captured by the goblins.
After finding him as a bear trapped and then working with him to kill the ones leading the goblins, after that, there was a tiefling party, and being you, you decide to take a chance at talking to the wood elf to know him better.
Over time you too got closer and closer but only as friends, you wish for more but you don't want to crush the friendship that you already have.'
Looking back down from the sky to look at the basket filled with a bunch of colourful and bright flowers as you pick one up and sniff it a little It gives off a fresh smell.
Deciding to make what you were planning to as you bring the flower down to where you can see it as you take some more from the basket and then start to weave the flowers together slowly making sure not to make any mistakes along the way as you carry on.
After a while, you finish making the flower crown, looking at its thick with different colours of flowers mixed with green as you lift it to your head realizing that it's a tad too big for your head, putting it into the basket now which only holds now a few flowers left.
Moving off the rock onto the soft grass and sitting down you think about what happened when 'you had decided to go and someone caused you to be stabbed in the leg, coming back to the camp it was late, but didn't want to wake anyone up at the time.
But Halsin was already there waiting for you as he was at the campfire, he had turned his head hearing your food steps as well as your limp that you had.
“Y/n you hurt, what did you do this time?” he asked you as he took a look at your leg seeing that your trousers had blood all over them. You look down at your leg and see it.
“I've had an encounter with someone and helped them some a man who was going to harm them in return I may have been stabbed,” you say to the elf.
“Come here and let me have a look at your wound,” he says as he pats the log next to him where he is sitting, walking over to where he is and taking a seat next to him.
“May I?” he asks as you nod your head as his hand covers your wound, feeling warmth as he does his work as the wound fixes itself.
“be careful with that wound as it can still tear open if you do too much moving,” he says to you as look back up at him.
“thank you Halsin,” you say with a smile looking at the hole in your trousers that you probably fix later on, feeling the elf looking at you.'
Your ears twitch as you hear footsteps coming towards you as you look up you see the druid as he comes over to you.
“I thought I would find you here Y/n” he says as he takes a seat next to you his warm eyes watching you as you fiddle with your hands.
“Halsin, how are you on this sunny day?” you ask him.
“am doing well Y/n, and what about you?” he asks in return.
“am doing good, I have a surprise for you though, close your eyes” you say to him as you grab the flower crown from your basket and lean over to him you where tall but not as tall as he was, moving on to your knees next to him as you place the flower crown onto his head his eyes still closed.
“you can open them now” you say as you move back sitting back where you were before he opens his eyes his eyes moving you to see what you had put on his head as he looks back at you.
“May I ask what it is?” he asks curiously as he watches your smile making him smile a little.
“It's a simple flower crown, you can take it off if you don't like it,” you say as he takes the crown off and takes a look at it his smile grows and he puts it back onto his head.
“no, no I think I shall keep it on for a while, it's Beautifully made,” he says with his warm eyes meeting yours.
“Thank you, am about to head back to the camp would you like to come back with me?” you ask as Halsin stands up and holds his hand out for you.
“Yes I came here to make sure you did not get into any trouble while you were by yourself again” he says as you take his hand and he helps you up.
As the both of you start walking off to camp talking along the way.
