arthur (prince of camelot) still has to study under a tutor bc yknow uther wants him to be very intelligent before becoming king or something bc its super important idk idc anyways merlin is doing chores in his chambers while arthur is squinting at a book and merlin eventually caves and asks him what he’s reading and arthur gruffly explains that its a collection of stories from greece that make absolutely no sense so merlin asks him to read them outloud to him. arthur of course teases him and calls him an idiot and asks how he could possibly help but does as he’s asked and reads the stories to merlin as he does his chores. merlin (being crushed under the weight of destiny and tormented by the prophecies that kilgharrah spews) understands the stories almost immediately and gets all excited and starts rambling about them with arthur. arthur is glad to have someone who understands so he can give something that reflects a hint of understanding to his tutor who accepts it and moves onto the next unit of education.
the thing is, arthur finds more stories in camelot’s library and brings them up to his room to read them aloud to merlin under the guise of completing his studies but really he just wants to watch as merlin’s eyes gleam when he understands whats happening and listen to him ramble on and on about them bc he’s gay. the stories stick with merlin though and he realizes that they’re cautionary tales, that the heroes who were told too much of their future doomed themself to fulfill them - that them fighting the prophecies led to their completion. merlin takes it to heart and gives a big “fuck you” to kilgharrah before forging his own fate and helping morgana with her magic and handing out an olive branch to mordred and now everyone can live happily and peacefully in an albion teeming with magic.

Boba is small and obnoxious, in a way only small tubies can be, squirming and thrashing around in his crib as he wails. He’s been told that Boba is denominated “a toddler”, by nat-born standards. CC-2224 is not impressed.
“What does the word ‘Boba’ mean,” he asks. The word has been bothering him for some time now.
Jango doesn’t raise his eyes from the datapad he’s frowning at, “It’s an old family name.”
CC-2224 considers this. Boba continues to wail at the injustices of the world. CC-2224 is sympathetic to that, at least.
And then the question pops in his head like an armed grenade.
“Can I have a name?” he asks.
Jango looks up at him, both eyebrows raised up to his hairline. There's a considering silencie, and then he says, like he's already regretting it, “You could.”
CC-2224 stares at him expectantly. Boba wails, mostly ignored.
Jango snorts and shakes his head, letting his attention fall back on his datapad, “You’ll have to come up with one on your own, kid. I’m shit at naming things,”
CC-2224 frowns, looking down at Boba, who’s finally beginning to realize no one paying much attention to his crying and he might need to adapt his strategies. He makes grabby fingers at CC-2224, who watches impassively.
Making an impulsive decision, he reaches into the crib and pulls the baby out, holding him at eye level like a hide up for inspection.
“I like the word kote,” CC-2224 says.
“Very modest,” Jango snorts, but he sounds approving. Newly christened Kote thinks he wasn’t looking for approval, but its nice getting it anyway.
Boba sneezes on his face, and the universe shifts.
Kote's never seen the sun, but someday he'll understand this moment feels like sunrise.

AU where ghosts attain the right to exist after a pro-ghost propaganda censorship law means that Paulina’s 200k Phantom x Reader strangers-to-lovers slowburn gets deleted and Casper High get so collectively mad about it that they literally riot in the streets. Danny is saved from corrupt government forces by the power of weird prose about his ghost-eyes and Y/N’s inability to just hold his damn hand. It’s like if My Immortal permanently altered the course of human rights activism.
When it first gets deleted Tucker calls Danny at like 6am yelling about how it’s gone- and on the one hand, the GIW having the power to enact laws like that is kind of terrifying. But on the other hand, it’s So Funny that the first thing they did with that ability was get rid of some teenage girl’s Phantom fanfiction. (“I mean, if you think about it, that’s as ‘pro-ghost’ as you get.”)

Hi! I would love to hear your thoughts on the sociological impact of multi shipping that you were talking about!
it's not necessarily the sociological impact of multishipping, it's more like... i don't think this fandom, in its current state, realizes that the tide in this fandom has the potential to shift in bucktommy's direction. because, like... before, it was just buddie, right, like there were no other potential "matches" for buck, not even josh or tk despite how many people tried to throw those hats into the ring. but now, it's like. there's tommy, and he's a real character with a (semi-)flushed out existence and he's another viable candidate for buck's affection and, like. if we were still on fox, right, i'd say whatever this doesn't have the potential to go anywhere because fox's audience was still fox's audience and if fox's audience (as in, the accumulated viewers over 911s years at Fox) hadn't gotten actively into buddie by s6, they never would've, and the bump in viewership from buck being bi + bucktommy wouldn't have caused that big of a shift in the numbers. buddie would still be THE primary ship.
but now it's like... we're not on fox anymore. we're on abc with abc's audience (both new and accumulated), and i'm not just talking about like. diehard fans. i'm talking about abc's audience who will watch 911 because they are familiar with abc shows, and have the same viewer experience with bucktommy that most of us did when we learned about buddie which is seeing these two dudes and going "oh there's something worth exploring there" and so. i'm just thinking that, like. depending on the volume of the audience, as in, the new audience who is actively interested and invested in bucktommy's relationship, i'm like... the longer this relationship goes on, the more the tide has the potential to shift from this fandom being a buddie-majority shipping fandom to a bucktommy-majority shipping fandom. at the very least, the buddie numbers hold strong and there would be an equal divide between buddie/bucktommy shippers (and i'm not just talking about shippers on tumblr; i'm talking about across all platforms which shippers make their presence known — insta, twitter, tumblr, YT comments). but the other thing is... like. it won't even take that long for that shift to happen, because now this isn't just a bunch of people rallying behind a fan ship, like... these are people who would have been dismissive of buddie before because it wasn't canon, who will now embrace bucktommy because it is. and i think a lot of buddie shippers especially overestimate how dedicated a lot of people are to their relationship, like. more than anything, 1) people love a good story, 2) they love a good romance, and 3) a lot of people like queer rep. and right now bucktommy is serving all of those things. and so. i don't know. it's just fascinating is all i'm saying. a shift is on the horizon and that's interesting
