August 13, 2024:
Calling all Creepypasta lovers: this is like The Left-Right Game, in that it involves an impossibly fantastical road as well as an entry into the Have To Follow Specific Rules subgenre.
Attention Creepypasta skeptics: Not only does this creepypasta contestant have the serial number filed off, it also avoids a lot of the cliché Reddit turns of phrase and misapplied words that normally plague the spooky post genre.
I also had way too much fun with this one. I was fully prepared to hate it but I really was interested the whole time, the book stayed in its own lane, there were plenty of surprises to keep things fresh, and the various settings were cool. There's a lot of movement.
Thinking back on it now, I think this Friend Group Simulator may have skated by on making it seem more clever than it actually is, but even if that's true, it sleight of handed it past me.
7.5/10

[ID: Two women, one with pale skin and white hair sitting with her legs crossed and giving a passionate hug to the second woman, who has dark skin and auburn hair, and is sitting in her friend's lap. They are holding their heads cheek to cheek, their eyes closed and with blissful smiles. END ID]
Another drawing of these two. This took way too much time, but worth it. Save for some G'MIC filters, this is traditional: ink and watercolour.
For more information on both characters, see this post: LINK

From A Shadow Grave Book Review
A version of this book review for From A Shadow Grave by Andi C. Buchanan first appeared in The Lesbrary.
Summary of From A Shadow Grave
This paranormal fantasy novella follows “you,” Phyllis Avis Symons. She’s a young girl living in New Zealand in the early 1930s, in the years leading up to World War II. Her contentious relationship with her parents leads her to run away and fall in love with…

What specific illness does Ellen have?
On top of already having a shitty immune system from childhood pneumonia, Ellen has a heart disease called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (or HCM).
It basically causes the heart to thicken, which in turn makes it more difficult to pump blood. The symptoms that Ellen exhibits include shortness of breath, chest pain, and a propensity for fainting. There’s also a heightened risk of heart failure or sudden cardiac death.
Ergo, the Scarabia chapter legit put her at death’s door with all the desert exercise.

Tutorial for drawing characters with cleft lip! Sorry that it's mostly unilateral-centric but it makes up the vast majority of resources and photos. Still tried to get tips for drawing bilateral clefts in though.
Keep in mind that this is an introductory drawing tutorial and has some generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People 👍
If you draw any characters using this feel free to tag me!

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

Elephant in the room time! I’d like to give a summary for everyone here.
I think we have all been waiting for someone to dig up something about Tim Walz, and what they found is a DUI from 1995.
Tim Walz was still a teacher at the time. He was with his friends, watching college football. He chose to drive home, and was pulled over for going 96mph in a 55. He was charged and fined.
Directly afterwards, he tried to resign from his teaching job out of guilt for his actions. He felt terrible, he felt disappointed in himself, and thought he didn’t have the right to teach or be a coach because of it. The principal pushed back immediately, asking him to stay. The principal refused to let him resign.
11 years later he became a member of Congress. 30 years later, he still hasn’t touched alcohol.
His drink of choice is Diet Mountain Dew.
Trump supporters are seemingly oblivious to the hypocrisy of their criticism of Walz. It has been 30 years since Walz was charged with his only misdemeanor. In May of this year, Trump was convicted of 34 felonies.

oh my god, fucking c!dream up is my favourite hobby. is the fic you were talking about "why aren't you listening"? I was reading that as the updates were still coming out and gods I loved it so much :D
Same, I love that fic so much, I love basically everything that the author writes. I was definitely referencing that fic. I tend to mess him up more emotionally, though I do have him partially de-clawed in one of my fics. He has all the anxiety and ADHD.

I present some nerdy prudes (oh and Max)
(I really wanted to take a shot at giving them all more than 1-3ish outfits that I think fit their styles)

A recent drawing of these two. It shows some progress, but also plenty of room for improvement. Perhaps better luck next time.
(Also, I added the ID as the image description, let me know if it doesn't work.)

Just a reminder that unless your amputee character lost their limb less than a month ago, their stumps don't need to be bandaged.

Review: Lassos and Lace (Monsters in my Bed #4) by L Eveland
Rating: 4.75🌈
‘Oh, sweetie. You have no idea just how loud I can be.
“You need to work on your people skills, Brokeback Bunny.”
Yes, this author had me at Brokeback Bunny!
L Eveland has such a way with these characters and their dialogue.
I’m talking about a traumatized group of vets, four survivors of a IED blast in Afghanistan, that destroyed their convoy. It’s left one with debilitating…
