Decided to post on my analysis on these characters, so here it is:
I noticed that the 3 main antagonists in Running Man Animation fit into a specific villain category. If we remove Ulcus to focus on these three, we can see how they fulfill their roles. Pardon any misinformation, since I rely on the wiki and any bits of information I can get. I also had not watched the official English dubs.
Akong, the main villain of Season 2 Part 1, would be the “Pure evil” villain. He was a royal priest in Old City but after practicing forbidden magic he became power-hungry and strived to conquer worlds. He became so powerful that he needed to be defeated by the likes of people like Charming Gold, Manus, and The Guardians. (There was an unnamed Pullulu ancestor but that’s not important.) The moment he was released from his (around) 1,000-year-old prison, he immediately took control of Old City and placed it under tyranny.
He has little to no sympathetic qualities or backstories, so the audience can not humanize him to a great degree.
Manus, the main villain of Season 2 Part 2, would be the only “Redeemed” villain. He is the King of the lavish Leo Tribe, who ruled over all the other tribes but was overthrown for his tyranny. He strived for revenge and power and was shown to be a formidable foe to the Running Men, to the point they almost sacrificed themselves to save the world. At the end of the season, he decided to change for the better, having a new outlook on life when he realizes he was unworthy of yielding the Ultimate power. He now strives to rebuild his tribe, as they were sealed away for around 1,000 years erased from history.
He’s slightly better than Akong, because while Manus almost destroyed the world, he had a change of heart. Unlike Akong, who stayed power-hungry until his death.
Charming Gold, the memorable villain of Season 1, would be the “Sympathetic/Tragic” villain. I had trouble categorizing him, as he has traits of both a sympathetic and tragic villain, but ultimately decided to categorize him as both. Unlike Manus and Akong, we were shown a detailed and personal backstory that was very pitiable. Born as the only son of the queen and king of the Pikok tribe; a tribe known for their beauty, which he rather lacks. When Charming Gold was young he was constantly ostracized for his looks, something he had no control over.
When he had enough of it, for some unknown reason, he had an energy absorption ability that was never elaborated and ended up turning a bully of his into a mummified husk while Charming Gold now had newfound beauty. All eyes were on him, but the bullying stopped. He continued to do this, turning his victims into dust. He is the only living member of the Pikok tribe because it is heavily implied he killed the majority of them. (Side note: That’s a plot hole I’ve been bothered by since Season 1. How come nobody notices that a whole tribe is gone except for this one suspicious guy is something the writers probably didn’t think through.) Charming Gold still appears in the majority of Season 2 because Akong resurrected him. (He probably resurrected him by using forbidden magic, but how did Akong found the body?)
Even then, he was a still formidable foe in Part 1 while hiding under the identity of the Iron Beast, and even when he was exposed, Charming Gold was still strong. He had a brief truce with the Running Men to defeat Akong, but it was actually a ruse to gain something from Akong which was power, beauty, and immortality…then it heavily backfired on him.
In Part 2, he was a Pullulu and would be categorized as a “Joke” villain. I speculate that it is because he was absorbed by Akong, and possibly by the purification method that was cast on Akong. While Running Man Animation has some comedic moments with its characters, Pullulu Charming Gold was treated as almost a joke. He serves no real threat, other than being annoying. The majority of Running Men didn’t even recognized him, other than Pala and some others. It is likely that he would appear in the Revengers movie as he consistently made appearances throughout the show, but that is speculation. (Update: As far as I know, he did not.)
I don’t really have much to say about Akong and Manus since I don’t know much about them, but I have a lot to say about Charming Gold since he was the original villain and my favorite out of the three. I wanted Charming Gold to have a redemption arc so I got pretty bummed out that Manus was the redeemed villain, but it's good. Charming Gold refused to change, even if he was given multiple chances to take, unlike Manus. I just find it interesting that the same sad backstory that he has that could work for a redemption arc is the same reason why he is stubborn in his ways and continues to try to achieve his selfish goals. I think that in the last episodes, before he turned back into a Pullulu again he was supposed to say that he would achieve power, immortality, and beauty again but got cut off. I just find that funny.
That’s all I have to say for now. For the art itself, I practiced drawing in fluid motions. I also tried to train myself to accurately see and use the colors as I don’t like using the eyedropper tool on references; so the colors are a little bit off. Except for Manus, I dropped the ball on his mane. He looks like an old man. But the digital painting was where I definitely messed up. It was harder than I expected it to be.
Also, while Charming Gold was fun he was so pathetically hard to draw I don’t think this character design is made for digital 2D animation. Don’t quote me on that.

Writing Notes: Exploring your Setting

(Excerpted from the Young Novelist Workbook)
PART 1: Settings That Create Moods
Mood - the feeling of your novel; its emotional quality.
You can also think of the mood as how you want someone to feel while reading your novel. 
Examples: playful, serious, mysterious, tense, warm, dangerous, joyous
The setting of a novel - where and when the story takes place. As you know, most novels have more than one setting.
Usually, the author decides to have one large setting.
Example: Los Angeles in 1995
and then many smaller settings
Examples: The laundromat where the characters hang out on the weekends, or the classroom where they get in a fight
Settings do more than serve as a backdrop to the action in your novel. They can also create or enhance the mood of your novel. 
Example
If you wanted to create a creepy mood for a scene in your novel, you could start with something like: 
"A dead tree stood alone in a dark field. Its branches creaked in a cold wind, and in the distance, something howled.”
These images remind us of dark, disturbing things, and show the reader that the scene of the novel is “creepy” without having to tell them directly.
Describing the Setting: A Sample Exercise
Describe the settings that would help create each of the moods listed below.
Try to write 2 or 3 sentences for each mood.
Include specific details about the sights, sounds, sensations (and maybe even smells) of the settings you choose:
Creepy, Joyous, Suspenseful/tense
Now make up 2-3 of your own moods and describe a setting that would go along with each one. 
The last step is to apply your new skills to your upcoming novel.
Think of a scene from each section of your novel.
Then, write or list details to describe a setting that will help create the right mood for each scene.
Example: You might set your climax on the edge of a crumbling cliff at sunset in the middle of a thunderstorm. 
A setting from your set-up:

A setting from your resolution:
Now you have settings to enhance the different moods that will be in your novel.
PART 2: Settings That Reinforce Characters
Another advanced writing trick is to show things about your characters just by putting them in specific settings.
Examples: If you were writing about a mysterious person, you might place them in a dark mansion on a hill outside of town; if you were writing about a musician, you might place them in a messy room filled with instruments, speakers, and microphones.
Sample Exercise
For each of the following characters, try to come up with a setting that will reflect or reinforce what you imagine about them.
As you write, try to be as detailed as possible.
Don’t forget colors, sounds, and even smells.
Focus on where the character is.

Tom’s eyes found mine in a fiery rage. His lips pursed gently as he struggled with what to say. 
“Look, if you can’t just answer like a human being, I’m going—”
“Shut the fuck up,” he growled, snatching your wrist from your side. He yanked you behind him and started abruptly down the hall. You glanced around nervously at the few people still scattered around the area. A few of their eyes found the two of you as Tom cut like a knife through the small crowd. You hid your face as best as you could, feeling your cheeks begin to warm. You knew they were probably just trying to see what in the world Tom Riddle was up to—it had nothing to do with you. But, Merlin, did it feel like it. 
He turned the nearest right corner sharply, away from all the prying eyes, and led you down to the end of the hall before swinging you in front of him. Your eyes found his only for a moment before he shoved you roughly into the room behind you. You nearly fell back as you stumbled into the second-floor male lavatory. His eyes glowed red with incomparable fury. 
His wand waved behind him in a quick spell and the door shut suddenly with a slam. The large lock on it dropped with a heavy clunk. Your heart rate quickened quite rapidly. Hopefully, this wasn’t the biggest mistake of your life and you were able to make it out of this alive. Not that Tom would kill you…You’re pretty sure anyway.
“I want you to repeat the question to me,” he demanded, “and don’t interrupt me while I’m thinking of a response.” You struggled not to roll your eyes. You shrugged out of your robes—it was getting a bit hot in here.
“All I wanted to know was if you wanted to be my date to the Winter ball. I wasn’t trying to make you uncomfortable or anything but when you sat there gawking at me like I had two heads, I got a little pissed and—”
“Okay, okay, shut up,” he interrupted. His eyes dropped to the floor as he seemed to be figuring out an impossible equation in his head. His fingers ran through his curled hair as he glanced around in thought.
“It really doesn’t require that much—yes or no?” you spoke. He angrily glanced at you, silencing you with his eyes. You sighed loudly, hoping it would convince him to answer a little quicker. Why was it this difficult? If you were so repulsive, he had to lock you in a bathroom and ponder the meaning of the universe, to agree to go to a ball with you…well, then maybe you didn’t need to be here. You started towards the door.
“No!” he shouted, he pushed you back into your original spot. “Please just let me think.”
“What is there to think about?” your voice began to rise. “It’s a simple yes or no question, if you don’t want to go, just say no. I just thought since we’ve been paired together in potions and all, you might want to go as friends.”
“As friends?” he asked, almost as if getting reassurance. Your stomach dropped a little.
“Yes, as friends,” you responded, ignoring the knot in your throat. “We don’t have to be anything to go to a ball together.”
“Why would you ask me in the first place, though, surely you could’ve asked….erm,” he glanced around, thinking of someone to say. “Malfoy, or someone else. Don’t you have a bit of a thing for him?”
"Oh, you idiot—don't you see?" you breathed, the sound strangled in your throat. 
"What? See what?" he demanded, eyes wild with anger. You had never seen him this angry before. You’d never really seen him show anything outwardly except for the usual cool, confident façade he plastered on.
Your eyes flicked back and forth between his, trying to find any soft edge in them at all, but being left empty. You sighed in defeat, letting your eyes flicker to the ground. 
"See what?" he demanded once more. He stepped closer to you and craned his neck to try and meet your eyes again. You scoffed and pushed him back. 
"I'm not going to make myself look like a fucking fool if you don't know what I'm talking about, Tom!" you turned from him, crossing your arms. You gathered your robes from the floor and began to walk towards the door.
"What on Earth are you talking about—I don't understand. If you would just tell me—" he cut himself off, grabbing your wrist and pulling you back to him. He pulled hard enough to wrench you to his chest. You pressed roughly to the hard material before backing away. 
"Sorry," he muttered. You shook your head.
"Don't apologize, Tom. I—I just wish I didn't have to explain it to you."
"Please," he breathed, not breaking eye contact. You were sure he was so self-centered, he likely thought it was something relating to his reputation or something of the like. A professor talking badly about him, one of his friends spreading a rumor about his family, something. 
You searched his eyes. The hard edges were all but gone and had been replaced with a cloud-like shape. His eyes bore so deeply into yours, that they might leave a scar. Your eyes flicked down to his lips briefly, wondering so desperately what they might taste like. Sure, he was a dick and made you so fucking mad, but when you thought of him, the thoughts were becoming less and less negative. 
You prayed that anything you said would come out slowly after being perfectly calculated, but that so rarely happened.
"Tom, I—" you breathed. His lips parted slightly. His eyes searched yours. His brows knitted together. The silence between the two of you was heavy and pressed down on your shoulders like an anvil.
"Please just—"
And you pushed yourself to your toes and pressed your lips to his. He tasted every bit of what you’d always imagined. His lips were rough with a musky flavor coated with the tang from the apple he'd just finished. His lack of movement was devastating.
Your gut clenched and you accepted defeat. You pulled back and looked at his shocked expression. Well, this had easily been the worst night of your life and you thought it might be best if you discussed moving schools with Headmaster Dippet first thing in the morning. You stifled a wince and looked down. That was your cue to go. 
"I'm sorry, I'm just going to—"
"No." He grabbed your arm, once more pulling you back to him. His lips found yours again. This time, he handled the movement, moving your lips just as he wanted and no other way. You wondered if he'd ever kissed anyone before. 
You shyly placed your hands on his collar where the first button sat wide open. Your fingertips gently brushed his throat. He made a low humming sound that echoed in his neck, vibrating your fingers. His fingers found their way to your hair, curling his fingers tightly into each strand. In any other situation, it might’ve hurt, but in this one, it did nothing but push you on. 
He tilted your head to the side with the strong grip against your scalp and effectively deepened the kiss. At this smoothened motion, you gasped against his mouth, to which he responded by walking you back into the stone walls and crushing you against them. His hands released your hair and quickly found your neck, holding your head staunchly in place while he painted your lips with his spit. As soon as you tried to rearrange your head’s placement, his thumbs came to rest on either side of your throat and began to press ever so gently. You sighed shakily, feeling the utter control he currently exerted over you. Your hands confidently moved forward to wrap themselves around his tight waist, feeling his hips stutter as you pulled them closer to you. His grip on your neck never once faltered. He pulled back.
“You think you can walk away from me?” he growled lowly, his lips capturing yours once more in a swift, rough bite. Blood pooled against your tongue. You stifled a whimper at the pain.
“You think you can just kiss me and then leave? That’s the end of it?” he spat, his fingers ever so slightly tightening around your neck. “No, that doesn’t fucking happen.”
Your lips parted weakly and you nodded fervently. Whatever it was he needed, wanted, said, you’d agree. You’d do anything to feel his lips on yours again. His eyes found your lips as your chin raised in an attempt to meet your mouths once again. A mocking smirk found its way onto his face. Dick. 
“You are mine,” his chest rumbled against yours. Your eyes never left his, though they fluttered in anxiety. One of his hands left your throat and grabbed one of yours still curled around his waist. A tight grip on your wrist loosened your hold against him. He directed your hand up to his face as he watched your eyes closely. His lips came down to brush against your fingertips with a feather-light touch. You couldn’t look away. 
“Say it,” he murmured against your fingers. 
“What?” you whispered. His grip around your wrist tightened to a bruising clamp. Your eyes watered.
“Say that you’re mine.”
“If I do, will you kiss me again?” you nervously joked, trying to hide a laugh at the look he gave you. He all but rolled his eyes as he slowly pressed his head into the crook of your neck. He ghosted his lips along the surface of your skin. Your eyes fluttered closed as you tilted your head to give him more access to you, every part of you. He gently dragged his lips up to your ear where he pressed a chaste kiss just below it. You shuddered.
“If you say that you’re mine, I will take you in this bathroom right now.”

Some details for archaeology nerds (Here we go again AHAHAHA)
First of all the costume Alfred wears in this pic is BY NO MEANS historical accurate, but if we really want to be 100% accurate then to my knowledge there’s a high chance that Alfred wouldn’t be wearing dresses gowns at all (whoever decided to make Alfred wear those pretty cough dresses cough in the show I wish your family to prosper for all eternity YOU’RE A HERO), so instead I just chose to design whatever clothes I want and add some Anglo-Saxon elements in it :)
1. Alfred’s earrings
Took inspiration from the 7th century Anglo-Saxon/Frankish crystal ball, now in Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. Here’s the thing, I know English men (and the monarchs) don’t wear earrings until the 16th century and earrings weren’t even popular during the Anglo-Saxon period, but once I saw Charles I wearing pearl earrings in his portrait I just can’t help but put something pretty on Alfred’s ears as well lol…Sadly I can’t find the exact size of this one but the official site says that it was used as a pendant/an amulet! Probably for pagan practices though, but it’s pretty, isn’t it? :D

2. Patterns on Alfred’s gown
Taken from the patterns on the Bewcastle Cross in Cumbria (which used to belong to Northumbria, built in around the 7th to early 8th century, aka the period Bede lived in.

3. The woven band
The pattern is taken from the Laceby band found in Laceby, Lincolnshire, dated to early 7th century. It seems both Scandinavians and Anglo-Saxons enjoy wearing tablet-woven bands? Saw this kind of things a lot in viking clothes reconstruction as well.

4. …Whatever this is
From fol. 34r in Book of Kells, the famous Celtic gospel book completed in Ireland circa 800 AD. As you can see I got lazy during drawing this lol but the illustrations in the original manuscripts are really impressive!

For me, Sol, didnt do anything that bad as all think. Like, he killed one person and what now lol. Like Anakin killed a dozens of children and nobody takes shit lmao. Sol thinks that he was doing the right thing. And I kinda didnt liked the twins so…
He made a series of mistakes and he clearly was carrying that guilt and shame w him all that time. we can see this from his reaction all the way til the finale (he never draws his saber until the situation calls for it, still sees good Mae, was the first one saying he will face the council, and still wants to tell Osha the truth and face the consequences). His mistakes make him a complex character and w LJJ amazing performance he became an unforgettable character to me. Idc if ppl hate him I can just ignore them or block them if they are being annoying in my posts.
** long rant about what actually pissed me off under the cut ⚠️
I'm jsut tired of this show as a whole so im just taking Sol and Jecki out, read my one fav fanfic of them, and create their own version in my head that has nothing to do w the show anymore.
However, if you want to see a good depiction of a well-intentioned yet emotionally flawed and morally ambiguous father figure who then died at the hand of his adopted daughter, I suggest you watch "Hunt". It's a movie directed by LJJ back in 2022. It has its own issues but the ending of that movie got me more emotional than this shit show lol.
** What actually pissed me off about this show is the way the finale threw Sol's whole arc up until this point into the trash. Suddenly he started yapping about the vergence, which was not established until ep7 (and in ep7 his main concern was the twins' safety, not that bs). Suddenly he wanted to shoot down Mae now even tho he didn't wanna fight her and was trying to save her on Khofar. Suddenly he didn't want to face the council now and tried to justify his action (while he clearly was so sorry about it and wanted to face the council before). All of this happened without a proper build-up (The father's spiraling was done much better in Hunt lmao). Osha's fall can be done much better and still have everyone stay in character yet still lead to the same outcome, and have a much stronger impact.
And the way Leslye talked about him in her interview like he's an overbearing father and him saying "it's okay" in the end is taking away Osha's agency (???). If i talk more this post is gonna get too long so I'm just gonna link a few links here so you can read them. They explain everything that made me dislike the show even more and don't wanna think about it anymore now lol

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
I’m trying to go back to my regular upload schedule, so here’s a FanCharacter/OC for the Running Man Animation show.
I had placed a lot of effort into this design, even though I created her because I feel bad for a character in the show. She ended up looking more like a DnD character than a RMA character but nonetheless I really like how it turned out. I had this character idea for a long time now, but she had a different premise with a much more “edgier” backstory. She was also going to be an albino peacock but somebody else already kinda thought of that and I did not want my characters to look like anybody else’s so I ended up changing it. If God is willing I’ll be reusing this design in the future.
Her design is based mostly on what scrap of information I can get from her tribe, which is Pikok, but it’s just mostly headcanons. It's so bad that I had to reference Charming Gold’s parents for her even though she is in no way related to them. I also wanted to give her a dress because I like the idea that the tribe has rather strict gender roles but opted to give her loose pants. It's kinda disingenuous to think of that because we were never really shown what a female Pikok member looks like. Besides, fighting in a dress is weird for show that relies on action.
For now, here’s a summary of her character:
Dazzling Diaspore, would be the villain of an AU called: Running Man: Judgement. Filled with hatred she strived to awaken Ulcus to erase humanity once and for all. Similar to Charming Gold, who was her former childhood friend, she is also 1,000+ years old as well as having the ability of energy absorption, while although much weaker than Charming Gold she is able to casts illusions of people. Dazzling Diaspore has immense knowledge of medicine, including the red crystals and potions, which she regularly drinks affecting her health but strengthening her powers. She is quiet and serious, as well as observant with a great memory.

The Salt and Light Anthology

Hello everyone! It's time to break the news with an exciting announcement! In 2024 Keepers of the Gate hopes to release a Salt and Light anthology.
This means a compilation of works by (PBS voice) Viewers Like You. Proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to combat human trafficking.
The theme of the collection will be original fairy tales. The ideal tone of the fairy tales is a late 19th-century Art Noveau style such as that of Andersen, Wilde, Louisa May Alcott, or others that treat fairy tales in a slightly longer-form and more descriptive style than, say, Grimm's. (We are not interested in retellings, we want to hear your original stories! They can still have elements of inspiration from classic fairy tales, of course.) The tragic, beautiful, the strange... stories from the POV of a talking animal or an object... a fairy tale doesn't necessarily even have to have magic! Show us what you have come up with.
Submissions are due by March 1 2024. Please declare your intent to submit work by December 1 2023. (ask box is ok for this.) Stories previously published online or written prior to this time CAN be accepted. Ideal length is 5-12K. Not all submissions may be accepted. Please only submit if you are willing to work with us to edit your writing for the anthology.
