I actually really like Chaos new form.

The Chaos in Hades 1 looked like an eldritch horror in part to accentuate how separate from humanity (okay, godhood, i guess) and others they was. They looked so alien, in part because of that lack of connection for the rest of the world, and that they did not particularly care for it, either. (Tho They was fascinated by it, which is important).

By the end of Hades 1, They had bonded with Zagreus and mended their relationship with Nyx. A relationship that in Hades 2, you can learn she and Chaos were very close by the time of Chronos attack. In that sense, Chaos taking this new form makes sense as they developing a closer connection to the world outside of Chaos existence. CHaos has become more human... erm... god?... Social.

And you know what? I do like that this new form seems to adapt parts of Megara and Thanatos. Because that tells me Chaos has grown to see them not as "Nyx's children" but "Their grandchildren" so much so that that we see that connection reflected through this new form.

But also, also? the eldritch elements are still there? If you pay attention, Chaos is not "wearing" clothes, those are still part of their body. there are still remnants that showcase this is still an eldritch entity far beyond even the gods. It's just that Chaos has began to take a form more suitable to interacting with others.

i was rewatching vin play RE2 and fsr this invaded my thoughts and wouldnt leave

this is barely proofread and i reused a lot of the same words/phrases BUT its just meant to be an outline/abridged version so keep that in mind

note: this is going off the assumption MoM saw everything (or at least everything soriku) through the gazing eye

scene is quadratum probably. master of masters (or whoever the bad guy in kh4 is) has sora and riku caught in a bad situation (for temporary visuals im picturing something similar to the dark guardian restraining aqua and ven in kh3)

sora and riku are struggling to break free, while the MoM just laughs. some kh dramatic banter occurs, before MoM changes the subject and starts monologuing (with sora and riku probably interjecting here and there)

MoM: [to sora] you still havent figured it out yet, have you?

MoM: dont you ever wonder why rikus heart holds as vast of a darkness as it does?

MoM: its not because of jealousy, or ansem, or even his desire for strength since you were children.

MoM: no, its much simpler than that.

MoM: remember that dream you had, sora? before the islands were destroyed?

MoM: there was a voice speaking to you, from deep within your heart:

MoM: 'the closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes.'

MoM: well, the road goes both ways, kid. the deepest of darknesses can only come from the brightest of lights.

sora: wh-what are you saying?

MoM: its been in front of all along, but you were too blind to see it.

cut to voiceless flashbacks of all the times sora encountered the brightest light: when receiving the keyblade, when almost pulled out of sleep by the memory of aqua on DI, during the dive to heart at the beginning of kh3 (assuming it really happened and wasnt just for gameplay purposes), and after using the power of waking at the KBG (the tunnel scene)

sora looks at riku, then back at MoM. riku is grimacing.

sora: that… that was… that was rikus light?

MoM: bingo!

MoM: but theres even more to it than that.

MoM: theres another force of power in this universe that keeps light and dark in harmony

sora: another…?

MoM: you feel an unfathomable depth of it in your heart for, well, pretty much everyone youve ever met.

MoM: what lies in rikus heart, however, comes from the same place, but is also very, very different. its something you claim to not understand, even though youve encountered it many times during your adventures.

rikus eyes widen and he tries to interject, but the MoM physically stops him; sora calls out for him

MoM: its more than just friendship. its hearts that are really, truly connected between two people.

MoM: think about it. think about all the times when everything seemed hopeless, but something, something, kept the bad guys from winning. it wasnt light.

cut to voiceless flashbacks between many of the disney couples sora has met: the beast arriving at hollow bastion out of sheer force of will in his search for belle, flynn sacrificing himself for rapunzel and her tears bringing him back to life (some shit with will/elizabeth and sam/quorra too maybe idk), and finally, herc gaining his strength back as he rescues megara from styx, followed by herc saying, 'people always do crazy things when theyre in love.'

sora stares ahead at nothing in particular, before wincing in pain; suddenly, a forgotten memory surfaces in his mind (if the convo with NS confirms he hasnt completely forgotten, then its the key details that have been missing):

rikus sacrifice in the KBG

riku calls out for him and struggles, but MoM just laughs so more.

MoM: there, now its coming back to you. and that wasnt the only time riku sacrificed everything for you, yknow, although it was probably the most heroic instance. remember him taking on ansems form to beat roxas? and his dive into your heart to wake you from slumber, despite the tremendous danger? you only met her briefly, but one of the princesses of heart experienced something very similar.

MoM: aurora. maleficent placed a curse on her when she was a baby, causing the princess and the rest of the kingdom to fall into a deep sleep on her 16th birthday. but the heir to a nearby kingdom, prince phillip, valiantly fought his way to the castle, and woke up the sleeping beauty– through a kiss. a kiss, of true… 

MoM trails off and looks at riku, then back at sora, expectantly. riku is still struggling to free himself before the truth is revealed, but its no use.

sora stares off again, before looking MoM in the eyes.

sora: … love…?

MoM does jazz hands and poses.

MoM: ding ding ding ding! we have a winner! it only took you, what, 12, 13 years to figure it out? honestly, i just couldnt stand watching it go on for any longer.

MoM: but, hey, i still have my honor. if im wrong, im more than happy to apologize.

MoM turns to riku then.

MoM: well? am i wrong, riku?

riku doesnt respond, and MoM sighs dramatically.

MoM: still no answer? okay, guess well have to do this the hard way.

MoM starts hurting sora, causing him to cry out in pain while riku watches helplessly 

MoM: come on, riku! do it! use your true strength! unleash the power hidden within your heart!

sora gasps and winces, barely getting out rikus name 

suddenly, theres a bright flash of pink energy (maybe rikus eyes also turn dream eater pink too?)

(if the power of love is too cheesy even for kh, then maybe its a black and white darkness/light combo attack)

riku breaks free of whatever MoM did to him, and then channels the energy through his arm, blasting it through soras restraints.

unfortunately, sora was being held in the air, and starts to fall– but in the blink of eye, riku is there to catch him in his arms.

MoM laughs in triumph and draws back slightly.

MoM: there we go!

MoM then shrugs.

MoM: well, this was fun, but ive got places to be. and im sure you two have a lot to talk about. toodles!

MoM disappears, leaving sora and riku in stunned silence.

after a moment, riku sets sora down and turns away from him, avoiding soras gaze.

sora meanwhile takes a second to catch his breath, before staring at riku with wide eyes.

sora: r… riku… is… is that...? is that really… how you feel?

riku clenches his fists at his sides and stays turned away. after a pause, he responds.

riku: … even if it is, it doesnt matter.

sora: what do you mean?

riku: i know… im not the one for you.

riku takes a deep breath.

riku: … when you were put to sleep for a year to fix your memories, some of them found their way into xion. they happened to be your most important memories– the ones you couldnt wake up without.

riku: those… were your memories of kairi. and xion took on her appearance because of them.

sora is stunned, only having been vaguely made aware of what happened in that year.

sora: k… kairi?

riku nods solemnly.

riku: yeah. and the only reason your memories got messed with in the first place is because the organization forced namine to make herself the person most important to you, instead of kairi.

sora pauses.

sora: you mean… castle oblivion.

riku nods again.

sora watches, before feeling a pain in his heart and grabbing at his chest instinctively.

underneath his hand, he can feel the cold metal of his crown necklace.

and thats when it finally clicks.

everything blurs, and theres a sudden rush of memories.

(maybe a memory sequence that you actually play through?)

sora, holding kairis wayfinder in castle oblivion. suddenly, the memory gets static-y, like during soras memory restoration.

cut to namine confessing to sora shes not the girl he cares about– but every time the word is feminine, its distorted by video static. (this is how we fix the aitsu thing)

"no. the g̸͓̦͙̫̮̦̠͗͐͗̊͑̕͝i̷͖̝̝̱̐ͅͅŗ̸̄̆̓̆̊̄̿l̶̮͉̦͓͔̹̀̂͗͝ͅ you care about...the one who was always with you... its not me. its ḧ̴̳͔̻̾̇e̵͚͂̀r̸̺̣̠̓̂̀̚."

cut to namine speaking to sora before he goes to sleep.

“but theres another promise you made—a promise to someone you could never replace. s̵̹̀͗͜h̷͇͇͌̆̐e̷̡̛̱'̷̦̆s̵̫͖̦̄̈̄ your light. the light within the darkness. if you can remember h̷̼̼̜͚͒e̸̢̡̤̹̬͖͐̒͒̾r̸͓̣̜̼̜̠͚͂̋̃...all the memories lost in the shadows of your heart will come into the light."

cut to a flashback of repliku talking about their shared promise. again, the feminine words are indecipherable.

"there was a meteor shower one night when s̶̳̄͑̆̅̆͗h̴͍̞͖͙͑̔̋̈́̎̈̾ę̷̧̰̰̖̝͆̆̕̚ and i were little... n̸̨̙̼͑̽ả̴̗͕̮́͊͝m̴̻̳͚̒i̸̳̟͑n̶̡̥̋̑̌é̸͍̦͑͐͋́ got scared and said, what if a shooting star hits the islands? so i told ḧ̷̡̬̽̅͆̊ė̸̙̩̠̥̿̃̚͠r̶̛̥̻̖̉̾̽͝, if a shooting star comes this way, ill protect you! and then—"

cut back to the memory pod.

cut back to sora in the real world. everything is still blurry, but now rikus voice can be heard in the background calling for him, distorted.

and then, a flash of light.

nighttime. its still. everything is quiet and peaceful.

young sora and riku are walking back from the beach.

suddenly, theres a bright streak across the sky. 

sora and riku both gasp.

then, another. and another. and another.

the night of the meteor shower.

riku watches the sky in amazement– until he feels a tug on his arm.

he glances at his side and sees sora, utterly terrified and clinging on to him for dear life.

sora: wahhhh!! r-r-riku, the sky is falling!!

riku laughs.

riku: no, those are shooting stars. theyre way up high in the sky.

sora however is not convinced, and keeps shaking as tears start to well up in his eyes.

sora: b-but…! theres so many of them. and theyre so fast!! what if a shooting star hits the islands?!

the reality of soras mood finally sets in, and riku is left staring as he tries to think of what to do.

hanging from his pocket is his wooden sword.

the words of the man with the real sword echo in his mind:

“no more borders around, or below, or above, so long as you champion the ones you love."

riku grabs his sword then and holds it up to the sky as he looks at sora, courage glinting in his eyes.

riku: if a shooting star comes this way, ill protect you! ill hit it right back into outer space!

sora sniffles as he watches riku swing the sword around.

sora: r-really?

riku nods his head confidently.

riku: i will. i promise!

after a moment of thought, riku reaches into his pocket and pulls out a silver chain with a crown dangling from the end.

riku: here. take this. i found it the other day.

with the magic of cutscene, riku somehow turns the chain into a necklace, and then reaches over to hang it around soras neck.

riku: whenever you get scared, all you have to do is look at this, and remember that ill always be there to protect you. no matter what.

tears run down soras face as he looks at the necklace.

the voice of the strange girl theyd met before rings through his mind:

"so then if something happens, and riku is about to get lost—or say, he starts wandering down a dark path alone—you make sure to stay with him and keep him safe. thats your job, sora, and im counting on you to do it, okay?"

sora gulps and then reaches out to grab rikus free hand in both of his own. riku is surprised by this.

sora: ill… ill protect you too! i-i know im not as strong as you, but ill… ill try! i promise!

riku is taken aback for a moment, before he smiles gently at sora.

riku: … thanks, sora.

afterward, a multitude of quick flashbacks to all the times sora and riku protected each other, culminating in seeing the KBG sacrifice one more time.

fade to back.

in a hotel room (or smth similar), sora suddenly sits up straight in a bed, heart beating rapidly.

sora: riku!

(paralleling when riku called out for him after waking up from the dive into his heart in ddd)

riku has been seated at the edge of the bed, waiting and worrying. when he realizes soras awake, he scoots down the bed towards him.

riku: sora! youre okay!

after catching his breath, sora looks around the room, confused.

sora: … what… happened?

riku: you passed out, so i brought you here. how are you feeling?

sora puts a hand to his head, grimacing slightly at his pulsing headache. but that doesnt matter right now.

sora: im… im fine. listen, riku… i saw… i saw some of the things that happened at CO.

rikus eyes widen.

riku: you did?

sora: yeah. i saw you… well, a version of you. and namine. namine…

sora looks into rikus eyes.

sora: she… she was wrong. or… maybe i was wrong, and she just played along for my sake…

riku: huh? what are you talking about?

sora swallows as his voice starts shaking, just a little.

sora: kairi… kairi wasnt the one most special to me. you were. i remember… i remember the night of the meteor shower.

sora clutches at the crown necklace.

sora: all this time, id thought id remembered everything important… but i forgot about it. [sighs] im sorry, riku

riku stays quiet for a moment, before putting on a forced smile.

riku: its fine, sora. we were little kids.

sora frowns.

sora: but… you never forgot, did you?

riku shrugs, and theres a moment of silence between them, before riku speaks again.

riku: maybe i was the one most important to you back then, but its not the same now. thats alright. im just happy to be your friend. i know how you feel about kai-

sora suddenly moves forward, closer to riku, now yelling as he cuts him off.

sora: i get to decide how i feel, riku! its my heart!

riku is taken aback at the shouting, and stares in shock. sora realizes hes gotten loud, and takes a moment to calm down.

dearly beloved starts to play in the bg

sora: i… i know now. maybe it took me a long time, but… i figured it out. the person most important to me… all along, its been you.

riku freezes up in pure shock. he cant believe what hes hearing. hed talked himself out of hoping for this day long ago.

sora finally smiles again.

sora: youre the one i love.

BOOM FIREWORKS MAGIC SORIKU ENDGAME

riku is absolutely speechless, staring at sora with his mouth agape.

sora gives riku a sheepish grin, now growing nervous at the lack of a response.

sora: and… im the one you love… right?

after a second, riku returns soras smile– and, for the very first time in the series, starts crying.

he nods, shakily.

riku: … yeah. yeah, i do. i always have.

riku wipes at his eyes to stop crying, but its futile. the tears flow even harder.

sora feels himself start crying, too, but hes laughing at the same time.

he pulls riku into a hug, grabbing his upper back tightly.

without any hesitation whatsover, riku returns the embrace, holding onto sora in the same way.

Yeah told ya that headcanon of God/KH!Riku ate my brain.

I've always believed in the theory of the KH being a deity and having an avatar. We all know that Riku is very special and not really what he really seems to be.

I like comparing him with Atlantide (hello white hair). The fact that the crystal used someone to stay strong or turning into human. And the necklace that provided strenght, protection... Riku necklace is the link to a protecting promise. And maybe he just "changed" his aspect to hide the fact that it was a piece of KH (like the tiny crystals). The day they would connect the necklace as a keychain for the Keyblade...

About Hercules movie, Hercules "sacrificed" his mortality in order to save Megara's soul. In KH3 Riku sacrificed his life to save Sora's. Maybe he will reborn as a god too.

Plus if the Child of Destiny is Riku and the "other-to-fuse-with-to-create-something-new" is Sora...

So I did an armor version of KH!Riku with a monster as a guardian like Ansem, as a canon divergence where he tries to save Sora from Yozora.

I’m gonna preface this by saying that some of these you’re just gonna have to trust me on cus I chose them just from pure vibes alone and went from there. I also haven’t re-read/watched Yuumori in a while nor have I watched any Disney movies as of late so again, just trust me bro lmao. I came up with most of these at 2am so sorry in advance.

Also, if someone has already done this, I’m sorry and I hope my choices aren’t just the same lmao.

Liam - Aurora/Sleeping Beauty

So this one is mostly just cus they both ended up sleeping for a long ass time lmao. Liam was in a coma after the fall for x months and Aurora was cursed to an eternal sleep unless her true love kissed her awake (we won’t talk about the horrors of the original fairytale, I’ve tried to blank that out of my memory tyvm). They’re also both blondes…uh huh. Aurora doesn’t have much personality that I can remember other than being an animal lover and a good singer so…that’s just all I have lmao. I also just think Liam would make a very cute Sleeping Beauty lmao.

Albert - Jasmine

I did consider giving Albert Rapunzel cus of the whole locked away in a tower thing, but outside of that and having shitty mothers (Mother Gothel wasn’t even Rapunzel’s real mother but still) there isn’t much similarity personality wise? Idk. I picked Jasmine just cus they both come from rich families yet have no patience for other rich people. Jasmine also disguised herself and went into the town/city to pretend she was a normal person and that feels kinda Albert-ish? They’re also both smart and sarcastic so Y’know.

Louis - Cinderella

This one feels kinda obvious lmao. Both were raised by awful rich people who treated them like a servant, both were orphans and both tended to the upkeep of their homes. I do think Louis has more of a backbone than Cinderella, especially towards the end of Part 1 of the manga. Also again: both are blondes lmao.

Moran - Merida

So…this one is mostly vibes but also not. I think Moran has a similar wild streak to Merida and accidentally turning a loved one into a bear because he didn’t watch his wording when asking a witch for a spell sounds like something Moran might do? Bear (hah) in mind I haven’t re-read Yuumori in a while so I may be wrong on that. Also I guess bows and arrows were the guns before guns were invented so…so there’s that lmao.

Bonde - Mulan

Feels like another obvious one? They both disguised their genders to achieve a goal (although I did interpret James to be a trans man whereas Mulan wasn’t rly? Cus she went back to presenting as female after the war so idk). They’re also both pretty outspoken and don’t care for the roles society has put them in as women and actively break that stigma (Mulan by going to war and James by often dressing as men even before he transitioned). Idk I just like this one lmao.

Fred - Snow White

Again, this is mostly vibes. I’m pretty sure Snow White is the youngest of the Disney Princesses at 14 (Don’t quote me on that cus I could be wrong), so I feel like that parallels Fred being the youngest of the Crime Gang. Snow White also has a connection to animals which can also connect to Fred’s love of cats and nature in general as he does most (all?) of the gardening. I think they’re both pretty quiet and shy and that’s all I really have lmao.

Mycroft - Megara

Okay, okay, relax, I know Megara isn’t an official Disney Princess (she SHOULD be, but whatever), but she’s the only one I could really see as being similar to Mycroft? Ya’ll are really just gonna have to trust me on this one lmao. I just think they’re both pretty independent and cynical and sarcastic and just…I really don’t know the vibes just fit, I can’t explain it.

Sherlock - Ariel

OKAY👏HEAR👏ME👏OUT. This is the only one I’m 100% confident on BSJDNKFS. They both have a niche obsession that they collect items from, Ariel with humans and Sherlock with Mysteries/Crime. They both make massive life changes for the man they love (a man which, by the way, they barely knew lmao), Ariel in becoming human and Sherlock by leaving his life, family & friends behind to live with Liam in New York. They also almost died to achieve this, Sherl from leaping off a goddamn bridge to save Liam and Ariel by her deal with Ursula. IT WORKS, I’M TELLING YOU.

No, Iceland is not up to "dirty political tricks" and neither is Bashar Murad

Hey lovely people, spirits, souls, and ghouls of Tumblr! To those of you who don't follow me on TikTok, there's a video I made just yesterday concerning Iceland (the lil Eurovision Country that Could!), Israel, a certain Irish TikTok-er with impressively horrible media literacy, and our dearest friend Bashar Murad. If you're not on TikTok, that's wonderful and dear god you don't need to subject yourself to that app. Instead, I wanted to make a post that explains what's going on, what's being said, and why one (1) Palestinian is not responsible for the aforementioned "dirty" political tricks.

So let's begin! First: who's calling Bashar Murad/Iceland "dirty"? Where am I getting that word from and why is it in quotes? That's because: it IS a quote! Buck wild, I know. This is a quote from the TikTok account AllThingsAdam.ie, run by the Irish Eurovision...fan? Podcast-haver? Idk, I'm not saying "journalist" because if I wanted to have a laugh, I would just watch the Unicorn edit I made a couple months ago. Did I share that here yet? Just in case, here it is:

Anyway, back on topic: Adam McCallig is a person with a TikTok account that has half a million followers, he has a podcast where he's interviewed Eurovision and NF artists, so he's definitely a "known figure" to a certain point. I can't sit here and say he's some random troll, y'know? So, in a TikTok that has since been deleted from his page, he accuses Iceland of being up to "dirty political Eurovision 2024 tricks." I created a TikTok where I briefly show this video, and here's a link to that! You can watch that for my condensed version of everything I'm talking about here, but this Tumblr post is for those who like reading what I have to say in longer form. Here's that video:

Since Adam's video is now "gone," I will do my best and summarize what he stated with whatever journalistic integrity I have. First: you hear him open the video with the word "dirty." So no one can say I'm putting words in his mouth -- no no, these are lifted from the source material, honey. Next, he goes on to claim that Bashar "has no connection to Iceland whatsoever." As much as Adam wants this to be true, it just...isn't?? Like, let's ignore Bashar's longtime collaborations with HATARI. Instead, let's look at him literally performing on the Songvakeppnin stage in the 2020 NF season:

Additionally, the claim "Bashar has no connection to Iceland" rings very hollow not only when we know this claim is false, but it's not one Adam brings up about the many artists trying to represent a country other than their own in the 2024 NF season. Adam says he "knows that countries can let artists from whatever country represent them," but he hasn't made any videos about Marcus & Martinus (Norwegian) competing in Sweden's National Final. Tali (Israeli-born) is representing Luxembourg this year, and MEGARA (Spanish) are representing San Marino. "Foreign" artists representing any country in ESC is FAR from new, and if it were a punishable offense, Celine Dion would just have to settle for being Canadian.

However, as soon as Bashar Murad takes the stage and the colors of the Palestinian flag are visible, Adam is ready to take to TikTok and say "dirty political tricks" are at play -- before deleting it later, like I mentioned. In fact, not only did he delete it! Mere hours before writing this post, I used my second TT account to peep his page and he posted a video saying "One of these four songs should represent Iceland in Eurovision!" and showed snippets of four songs competing in the Icelandic NF Grand Finale, which takes place on Saturday the 2nd of March. However: there aren't four songs competing to win for Iceland. There's five. Which four did he show? The fours songs that AREN'T Bashar Murad. And yet, he's the one being dirty in all this? Adam, sweetie, the dirty call is coming from inside the dirty house.

Now, you might wonder if Adam has kept this kind of energy when talking about Israel's Eurovision participation, which at time of writing is still very much up in the air. But thing is: he doesn't. At least, not really. Adam has posted a video condemning the alleged song that Israel is trying to submit to Eurovision titled "October Rain." I won't go too deep into that -- please follow @/IsraelBreaksRules on Twitter for more details on this!! But basically, what Adam is attempting to do is play some sort of "political centrist" take on Eurovision, while simultaneously trying to say "Keep politics OUT of Eurovision!!" And at the end of his deleted video, Adam claimed that while "what happened in Gaza is terrible," Iceland is just as guilty for playing political tricks as Israel might be, and Bashar Murad's participation is just as bad.

Two things wrong with that statement, Adam. One: It's not what "happened" in Gaza. It's not past tense. It's on-going. It hasn't stopped. That's actually -- believe it or not -- WHY WE'RE STILL HERE. And two: JUST AS BAD?? REALLY??

If you watched my TikTok response that I shared the link to, you'll have seen the evidence I shared. But I wanna share them again just so you all can clearly see how the "political tricks" at play this year are not on the part of Iceland, nor would they be "just as bad." Where do we begin? Maybe we could begin with the fact that "Wild West," Bashar's song, has been spammed with negative reviews by anti-Palestinian ESC fans. This is mathematically observable when you notice "Wild West" has roughly THREE TIMES as many reviews as the other Icelandic NF songs on EurovisionWorld.com. You can check them out here and see the numbers yourself.

But it doesn't stop at bad reviews. Israeli ESC fans have begun a campaign to mass vote against Bashar, specifically for Hera Bjork, one of the four other competitors in Iceland's final on Saturday. This is really funny to me though because if Bashar doesn't win, it should totally be Sigga Ozk, right? GO TIFFANY!!! Anyway, I digress. A link to an article covering this voting campaign can be found here!

Not only is Bashar facing backlash, hate, and organized efforts AGAINST his participation, Israel is funneling money and resources into Facebook ads that look like this, claiming to shape the narrative:

*deep existential sigh* "Jews Pua" Link to that video here, if you can stand three minutes of awful propaganda containing just the right combination of shitty, easy rhymes and enough pinkwashing to put "Cops at Pride!" to shame. All of this should make it VERY clear to anyone observing this situation as a whole that the political tricks at play are NOT being done equally from everyone involved. Dare I boldly say: this shit is INCREDIBLY ONE-SIDED and we need to remind ourselves of the awful reality that is Israel's access to the money, ability, and audience of their "dirty political tricks" more so than Bashar Murad or Iceland ever could.

Lastly, let's just acknowledge the racism-shaped elephant in the room. Now, I as a white American am not here to play "Racism Police." That will never be the case. What I am about to say applies to the greater conversation, and it's not just an "Adam" problem. It's a problem we see happen when one (1) Palestinian decides to exist and write a song, and the way the world has been built around us conditions us to see that and scream "dirty political trickery afoot!!" Truly, ask yourself is this is "equal" in any way shape or form, as Adam posited. Adam and people like him will treat Iceland and Israel as equal, but that doesn't automatically make them "equal."

We are living in a world where Israel is currently being sued for genocide. That is not an exaggeration, it's just something we can all see and talk about. Israel is a country that has the money, platform, and bias of the most powerful countries of the world to not be held to the same standards of responsibility for the horrible things they're doing, nor is my own country being properly held accountable for PAYING for these things they're doing. Race is something used as a tool to identify oppressed peoples not just because it's discriminatory, but it tells people who aren't part of that group that people like Bashar Murad are simply political just by existing. Nowhere does Adam mention that Bashar and his song "Wild West" are about his journey as an artist having to leave his home and travel thousands of miles to the global "west" to even have a chance of representing Iceland (not Palestine, not Gaza, just Iceland) in Eurovision while the country responsible for the death of his people are facing MUCH less scrutiny from the Eurovision powers that be, let alone Irish TikTok accounts with re: shitty media literacy skills.

My final message to you is this: if you're someone paying attention to Eurovision and you maybe feel confused or overwhelmed by Israel, Iceland, Bashar, etc. etc. etc., here's what I want to tell you:

This is not an equal game. Iceland/Bashar are nowhere near on the same level as Israel and the money/access they have to GLOBAL levels of propaganda. Israel, in fact, verbally confirms how they want to use Eurovision to "shape the narrative" which is far dirtier, far more political than just the song "Wild West." Moreover, thinking that treating Eurovision as apolitical or that EVERYONE deserves the SAME level of EQUAL scrutiny only helps Israel at the end of the day. The things they've done, are doing, and hope to do are representative of tens of thousands of people they've killed in the last few months alone. Would you genuinely look at Bashar Murad trying to represent Iceland and say "Yep, these two things are the same"? My hope is that you wouldn't, but people like Adam clearly do.

Don't be like Adam. Don't play this weak-ass centrism card that ultimately helps no one and just makes it easier for people to shift blame, suspicion, or anger towards Bashar Murad. This is not the fight being had right now, and don't let it waste your time. Focus on what and who matters, which is obviously: the country doing genocide and wants us all to be chill with that.

PS. As a personal recommendation, "Wild West" and "Into the Atmosphere" are my two favs to win for Iceland, so def go gives those a stream. And while you're at it, let Bashar himself take you on a visual journey that might help you understand his message a bit better.

Please note this is a general analysis. Although I do go into theories, both my own and others, this is just general thoughts. Also note when I speak of Vessel, I mean Vessel as a character, not the person, unless I specifically state so.

Let's start off with the basics. ‘Euclid’ is the anglicised version of the Greek name Eukleídes (Εὐκλείδης), mainly known via the ancient Greek mathematician Euclid of Alexandria, who is seen as the ‘father of geometry’, and most famous for his work on symmetry. Its general definition is something or someone who is renowned and or glorious (A) and the lesser known definition is something that is a copy of the same (B) (taken from Euclid’s ideas on symmetry), which we’ll come back to in a bit.

However, there is another Euclid in history that we’ll be referencing; Euclid of Megara. This Euclid, similar to our mathematician, was an ancient Greek Socratic (having been a pupil of Socrates) philosopher. I’ll be taking part of a text out of his Wikipedia article since his ideas have been explained thoroughly there.

First off, this is an incredibly interesting choice of name for a song. Outside of someone's maths and philosophy class, this name doesn't exist to most, so the fact it's been chosen at all is intriguing.

Vessel has shown time and time again he enjoys sometimes elaborate references in his art, an example being chemistry and biology in TPWBYT (most notable would probably be ‘Telomeres’), so, I think it would be easy to say that, whether it be a reference to Euclid the Mathematician or Euclid the philosopher, that said reference is understood and intended by Vessel.

So, let's start with our mathematician, shall we?

What I find interesting about Euclid of Alexandria is that his life and existence outside of his work on geometry is almost completely unknown. There's almost nothing known of him, as a person, other than where he spent half of his career (Alexandria; Egypt, hence his title), where he may have studied (Platonic academy) and a general idea of when he lived (around 300BC). What is known about this insanely famous man who created the foundations of symmetry is incredibly barebones. People take Euclid at face value for his work, just like Vessel (both as an artist, and a character).

Further, we, as listeners, don't have much of an understanding of who Vessel is other than being a mouthpiece of a deity known as Sleep, someone once human now grasping at the threads of humanity and someone sharing some of his struggles in life (both with Sleep and unknown people). Like Euclid, he is barebones, we take him at face value; a vessel. He is both a mouthpiece for Sleep, a mouthpiece for his own emotions (obviously) and a mouthpiece for us. His experiences transcend being just his, due to his anonymity, therefore allowing us to connect and express our own experiences. It's music for the sake of music; expression.

Now, having talked through Euclid as a person, it's time to talk about Euclid and his symmetry. Symmetry in shapes is 'reflections, rotations, translations, and combinations of these basic operations. Under an isometric transformation, a geometric object is said to be symmetric if, after transformation, the object is indistinguishable from the object before the transformation- a copy of the same’. So, of course, this means shapes like squares, rectangles, parallelograms and circles. Circles are a representation of infinity, wholeness, unity and loops. What does Euclid do? Loop itself (starts and ends with B major, which also happens to be the same chord that TNDNBTG starts with), and loops the three albums together, musically and lyrically.

Now, onto Euclid of Megara.

Euclid was born in Megara, Athens and was a follower of Socrates (sneaking into Athens to hear him speak, and he was also present during his death). He is most known for his philosophy that good is the knowledge of simply being and that the opposite of good does not exist, aka evil. The Good is described to be a perfect, eternal, and changeless Form, existing outside space and time. A form of Heaven without a God.

This idea could be linked lore-wise with Sleep Token; Sleep could, in a way, be The Good literally. Bliss. Further, with the idea that there is no actual opposite of good, then how can anything be bad? How can Sleep, as a deity, have bad intentions if there is no actual evil?

So far, with these two notable figures in mind, we can perceive Euclid as one of two ways (and there are more ways to come). Euclid can be seen as quite literally being a form of symmetry; a parallel that Vessel lays his life on because it brings all of the produced albums, all of his stories, together. Or, we can think of Euclid as Vessel. This brings me to @euclidsvessel's post on their theory on Euclid; what if Euclid was Vessel’s name before he became a vessel?

The theory that Euclid could be Vessel’s old name is not only extremely insightful, but very plausible as well. They explained their points very well in their original post, and I don't want to repeat what they’ve already said, so I do implore you to go read that! It's not detrimental to needing to understand this post, but I highly recommend it. Despite this, I am here to both support their argument and bring my own comparison. Take a look at the cover art for Euclid:

Let me repeat the lesser-known definition of Euclid; a copy of the same. A clone. A replacement. Held in the right hand is the decapitated head of Vessel's old (2nd gen.) mask. Specifically, the one that covers his mouth; the version that relinquishes the most amount of humanity. The album art is a representation of change portrayed in a symbolically gory way. Beheading, depending on the era you’re working from, symbolises both vengeance as well as a form of purification. By cutting off the head, you remove any ‘unholy’ thoughts. It's also among one of the most horrific and humiliating ways of killing someone (since it was typically done publicly, and sometimes the heads were placed on spikes of battlements as a warning).

Furthermore, there's a theory that's popped up a couple of times, lore-wise, that Vessel is not the first person to be turned into a vessel of Sleep, and he certainly won't be the last. So, considering the literal album art illustrates a replacement of Vessel, I’d say that theory is pretty much confirmed. In conclusion, the album art can either be interpreted as how Vessel will eventually be discarded and replaced by another vessel, or how Vessel himself will change, for better or for worse; clawing out of his own skin to become “someone new”.

So, to compare the idea of Euclid being Vessel’s old name, and to create the third perception of what or rather, who, Euclid is, what if Euclid will be the eventual replacement for Vessel?

A Modern Harvested Look Into Dionysos Nykletios

LITTLE DO MOST PEOPLE KNOW THAT MUCH OF THE MODERN GRAPE HARVEST HAPPENS AT NIGHT, as dedicated winemakers wish to ensure the consistency of their crop—lord Helios’ rays are what ripen the fruit, at the mercy of Dionysus’ influence. Other times harvest does during cool days, but the harvesters are still pressed to ensure the safety of the harvest—hot fruit spells problems for the winemakers, and winemakers are what buy the crop to ferment. And when I was there on the cool afternoon, Helio’s light fading from the horizon, I felt Dionysos there with the whisper of Nyktelios. 

THE HISTORICAL CONTEXT 

Nykletios (Νυκτελιος “of the night”) is an epithet only directly mentioned perhaps once, kin to Hestios; as such it may be hard to get a direct usage on the meaning of this epithet. Pausanias states:

Pausanias, Description of Greece 1. 40. 6 (trans. Jones) (Greek travelogue C2nd A.D.) : "After the precinct of Zeus [in Megara] . . . you see a temple of Dionysus Nyktelios (Nocturnal), a sanctuary built to Aphrodite Epistrophia (She who turns men to love), an oracle called that of Nyx (Night)."

Riding the Phallus for Dionysus suggests that this epithet may be connected to a larger mystery cult, that of a veiled Dionysus, with rites perhaps similar to the one Plutarch mentioned. Several of Dionysos’ rites occur within darkness—within Agros, his rites were nocturnal, invoking the terror and awe of Nyx’s darkness. His other mysteries likely involved the night as well. 

Night is also invoked several times with Dionysos, such as in the Bacchae. One example I associate with Nykletios are these lines from Dionysos and Pentheus: 

ΠΕΝΘΕΥΣ τὰ δ ̓ ἱερὰ νύκτωρ ἢ μεθ ̓ ἡμέραν τελεῖς;  ΔΙΟΝΥΣΟΣ νύκτωρ τὰ πολλά· σεμνότητ ̓ ἔχει σκότος. Pentheus When you dance these rites, is it at night or during daylight? Dionysus Mainly at night. Shadows confer solemnity.

Even as these rites are no longer practiced, it is almost fitting that modern harvests mostly occur at night—and winemaking during harvest season can easily draw into the dark nights as well, as we work on the grape and yeast’s schedules, not our own. 

A MODERN TAKE ON DIONYSUS NYKLETIOS 

As epithets can have multiple functions, I place Dionysos Nykletios in both the night harvests of vines, comforting frozen hands as we harvest fruit for the best vintage, along with his endemic nocturnal rites. The modern wine world is both alike and like the ancient one—the wine season is still within winter, with the worst moments for a winemaker being the time before Christmas until next March when the wines are finishing. 

If there was a day a hellenic pagan vineyard would exist, I would imagine that a procession would be in store for a religious harvest—though, there would not be any free juices allowed to paint the skin red. When you harvest grapes for wine, you do not want to burst the berries, and I could imagine Dionysos’ laugh when it eventually occurs. 

Dionysus Nykletios, May your hands warm us Under eternally Dark Nyx As the vintage is pressed And made into your Fine wine.

anyway Vox is curious and of course he's told not to go, I'm thinking maybe instead of the family scenario in the little mermaid, Valentino could be like Ariel's father. Like he's always telling Vox about those humans and stuff, to stay away and all that even though Vox feels such a pull.

He goes anyway. "It'll just be for a moment... No one will even notice!" And then he goes out there, builds this thing where watching Alastor go on about his day to day is a lot more interesting then the ocean all of the sudden.

Bro would literally freak out when it comes down to Alastor actually catching him in the act. Like imagine them freezing for a moment and just looking at each other before Vox seems to realize he's been caught and immediately ducks back down into the ocean just so he can fathom it.

"H-He saw me! Holy shit he actually saw me this time!"

"The people", being Alastor. Vox finds that he desperately wants to be so much closer to Alastor and interestingly enough, the feeling is mutual.

Like come on, Alastor saw a mermaid! How could he not want to investigate further?

I'm also thinking something like imagine Alastor having internal moments of like he's feeling like something is missing and just for a splint moment, just as he lets his guard down, he lifts his head with a little smile and casts his eyes up, perking when he's met with another pair of eyes.

Radiostatic: Bottom Alastor x Top Vox

I LOVE the repunzal x Eugene idea too since I know those two better but yo immediately thinking of this scene.

Alastor would be so spooked to find Vox there that this is TOO him 😭😭😭😂 he definitely wasn't playing with Vox at first and then considering Alastor's a deer it's also giving those videos of deers jumping extra hard at something when it spooks them. Immediately on guard.

Thing is, Vox is quite charming, like more so than Alastor would have ever initially thought.

Vox definitely finds himself looking at Alastor like this often after they get along a bit more. Like he's always been able to run around and be 'free', a commitment issue with saying in one place for too long surely, but Alastor's always been...locked up, hidden away and hardly ever exploring the world around them. Vox finds that while their adventures together are CRAZY he really likes that light in Alastor that Alastor has never been given the chance to show others before.

Alastor has always had to be something so much smaller than what he really is and Vox sees it when they run into each other and he doesn't necessarily mean to but he manages to be up for pulling that side out of Alastor.

Imagine Vox being so lovesick while Alastor is still understanding it, like he's patient but he's always there if Alastor actually needs him, always willing to rush to his aid and keep him safe because after everything Alastor has been through Vox is willing to be the peace he deserves. It's all for Alastor in his head though later Vox really comes to the understanding that it is in fact for himself as well because in reality...all he's ever wanted was someone to love who loved him too.

Radioapple: Bottom Lucifer x Top Alastor

Snow White and Florian! I'm telling you you are brilliant.

For one work with me here because Snow White is an older movie so I'm recounting right now and hopefully accurately but Snow White lived on her own with the animals and such before right?? If that's the cause when Lucifer went about his life he did so simply, doing what he loves. Like it's giving that he is a hopeless romantic here, like imagine when he's outside watching the animals be together and find mates he smiles because of course he wishes he could have something like that. A partner and one who adores him.

In the case from earlier where Vox is a lover boy Lucifer here is too but like I said, hopeless romantic. Where basically he continues to wait, wait, and wait even if doing so gets him down from time to time.

Maybe one day someone will come, maybe someday someone will find him and in moments like that he sings because it feels right. What else would he do anyway?

I see a scene in my head that I wanna draw and basically Lucifer is outside, probably sitting in a patch of grass, bonus points if it's flowers and he sings as the sun shines down on him. Animals would start approaching and Alastor would hear it in a distance, hunting though ..he has to know who's singing. He'll follow the singing, careful just as he would be with an animal just in case he spooks whoever it is and then he'll find him. He'll see Lucifer and just stop for a moment as he listens.

Alastor would definitely take a radio with him when he was outside every once in a while just to do so but imagine his face hearing Lucifer sing. He's starting to worry he may never be able to listen to the radio again without thinking of the mystery man who loves the animals.

It probably leaves him thinking a lot. He must leave him be.. no, no. He must talk to him! Alastor probably would be conflicted on whether he wants to get closer or pull away and act like he never heard anything to begin with.

Imagine he does decide to leave at first but he just keeps coming back later like he can't help but find this beautiful man who sings in the woods every time Alastor goes. Definitely would be a really good slow burn honestly but they definitely would find each other later and Alastor is so careful with Lucifer, easy with him and as they grow together it just feels right.

I'm finna eat this up so good. Both Meg x Hercules and Tiana x Naveen are amazing ships for how I think this dynamic between them would go.

Lucifer is so witty and charming so moments like when Naveen was walking out playing his little guitar and stopped for a moment to like wink or whatever at Tiana and the moment when Hercules was at the waterhole and smitten but Meg and the two scenes that jump to mind thinking of Lucifer x Alastor here.

Like Lucifer probably shows more of his fun loving nature here, like he works for himself but he's really just chilling, not particular goal in mind though he does have dreams and ambitions. Pfft frog Lucifer x Frog Alastor needs to be drawn or something because the back and forth that Tiana and Naveen had was top tier Radioapple 😩😭

Like I always thought that in the movie even before they turned to frogs, that it was interesting that Naveen and Tiana had that moment. It was giving accidentally soulmates or something along those lines because in the cause of radioapple, Lucifer probably seen Alastor at that moment and thought he was cute so tipped his hat and grinned and Alastor rolls his eyes and it's just that. Lucifer doesn't push for anything more and then BAM they run into each other again later and have to deal with each other.

Lol and we saw in Princess in the frog later how when they were frogs Naveen and Tiana had their disputes and such when trying to turn back human and Alastor and Lucifer would literally be the very same way 😂

Same in the concept of them being like Hercules and Meg. With both ships Lucifer is the witty charming love interest and Alastor is the hardworking other who isn't necessarily searching for love but it finds him anyway.

Like they definitely have their moments of arguing but they work so well together when they actually choose to do so and Alastor finds himself being more and more drawn in by Lucifer's presence as they spend time together.

Really it's Alastor having to trust Lucifer and Lucifer having to prove that he's trustworthy but once Alastor lets him in everything else seems to be history.

What was the approximate age of Heracles and Iolaus? (Yes, I'm still fixated on this topic BECAUSE OF YOU 🫵)

Hahahaha! I am honored? Hahaha! (Sorry in advance this might be long!)

Oh that is a good one! I am not sure we have actual and clear-cut ages for them given that mythology moves in a bit different ways than epic poems or greek tragedies. The latter are to tell a story with aplot that has a beginning a duration and an end while Myths are a series of independant stories that "explain" the existence of hellenism in one region or a natural phenomenon in that said region (for example Heracles traveling to Sardinia or sending his sons and nephew to Sardinia to create a colony is a myth to give a mythological past to the greeks that recided or passed from the area. The Titamomachy and the burial of Typhoon under Aitna is to explain why Aitna is always active in the first place etc.)

There are not many age marks on their story at all yet alone a cut and clear timeline on their adventures. We know that at some point, according to Plutarch that Heracles gives his wife, Megara to Iolaus as a wife. There we only have the age marks of Megara and Iolaus (Megara was 33 and Iolaus was 16). If Megara was 33 then Heracles was probably older than her at that point, given that he made the gesture so that people will be encouraged to marry even if the woman was older. If Megara was older than him, that wouldn't be that necessary. And quite frankly in classical Greece the ideal age for marriage for women was 15-16 years of age and for men 30 (because in ancient Athens they had many duties to the state to perform before settling in). One can guess potentially that Heracles, if he weren't a good dacade older than his wife he was definitely at least 5-6 years older on my estimation.

One can combine that with Apollodorous who says that Heracles first traveled to Athens and hunted the lion for the king and then bedded his 50 daughters and then arrived at Thebes to receive a tribute. The myth mentions how Heracles was involved at the war there to release Thebes. Creon gives him his daughter Megara as price and wife for his efforts. Apollodorous mentions that Creon also gives his younger daughter to Iphicles even if he "already had a son, Iolaus by Automedusa". That "already" probably implies that Heracles and Iphicles were roughly in their 20s? Perhaps Final 20s at that time? Hard to tell given again that we do not have many age marks for that. Also Apollodorous mentions that Iphicles already had Iolaus but doesn't say what age his son was when Heracles got married to Megara.

Apollodorous then mentions when Heracles went mad and threw all his children with Megara into the fire he also threw two of Iphicles there. So again the age mark is not clear. Iphicles had more children later obviously so we are to expect a few years went by and so the children were slightly older given that it says "children" and not "infants" so if Iolaus was the oldest maybe he had already started to enter his teens at the point that Heracles had to leave for Delphi to get an omen on how to cleanse himself from the murder (and that is the origin of his name as well since he was named Alcides by birth but the priestess names him "Heracles" aka "glory of Hera" because Hera induced his madness)

However one can make a rough estimation based on the very social structure that ellegedly Plutarch and others wanted to connect to Heracles and Iolaus; the relationship between erastês and eromenoi which was what these two seem to symbolize for writers like Plutarch. It is this construct in which a youth has some complex social and possibly sexual relationship with their mentor. The youth's age can range but sually we think of someone in their teens ranging from the age of 13-20 years of age although for war contexts they could be older like 16-17 years of age. The age of the mentor is not necessarily mentioned but it could range from anything between 20s and 30s till older. And I would suspect it depends on the era and area. The relationship between the two seems to end when the youth enters adulthood. It is not clear when. Some say when the youth gets his first facial hair (anywhere between their 20s till 30s).

Either way it seems that obviously Iolaus was old enough to follow Heracles to his expeditions with his 12 labors so he does fit the age range given by writers like Plutarch especially given that as we said before he was already born when Heracles got married to Megara and possibly not an infant either (although his age is not specified). If after his labors Heracles performed this stunt with the marriage that means Iolaus was 16 somewhere after their expeditions.

Heracles is a tough one because his artwork depends on many things. For most part his labors depict him with a full beard indicating he is already mature (possibly way above his 20s and possibly already in his 30s) but that is not steady. On average he seems to be depicted bearded. Which again if we combine it to Plutarch's story with Megara it makes sense that he would be at least in his final-30s when Iolaus was 16 (and makes sense to assume that Iphicles probably didn't have him when he was a teen either!)

So it seems that Iolaus was a generation younger than Heracles (that was pretty obvious here) so possibly ranging ages somewhere between 13-20 when he joins Heracles to his expeditions. Possibly the myth of Sardinia with Heracles sending him to colonize it along with some of his sons from the 50 daughters of Athens is also the story of Iolaus "coming of age" aka Heracles releases him from his protege or eromenos and sends him to his own path, possibly Iolaus would have been past his 20s.

So I would estimate that Iolaus was ranging from his early teens till adulthood (13-mid-20s) and Heracles probably ranging anywhere between his 30s till 40s during these trips. It is hard to estimate. But like I said it seems that Heracles was already a mature man at that time given the vast majority of art depicts him with a full beard while most artwork depict Iolaus without it indicating his youth.

But that is a very rough estimation. I hope that helps!

Arcana Headcanon: M6's favorite Disney Princesses

Muriel- Snow White

Actually canon as declared by the OG devs. And this fits really well! Friend to All Animals, hiding out in the woods thanks to a vain villain... absolutely works.

Asra- Jasmine

This enby is streetwise, constantly outwits his enemies instead of defeating them with brute strength, has a truly kind heart despite rumors that surround the persona he presents to others (diamond in the rough, anyone?), loves going out to see the world, has plenty of magical companions... yeah, Asra is absolutely Aladdin. So how can his favorite princess be anyone but Jasmine? (Also you cannot tell me that Asra hasn't canonically pulled the "do you trust me?" bit at one point. Or that he never wanted to take his Apprentice on a magic carpet ride).

(I saw a comment on the original about relating to Mulan as a nonbinary person, and I love that! So valid! This headcanon is not meant to counter or to dismiss this in any way. I can absolutely see Asra loving the movie and appreciating Mulan as a character as well. But I cannot see her being his favorite Disney princess. More details later as well lol)

Julian - Rapunzel

Same logic as Asra. This man is Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzherbert. Plus he'd love Rapunzel's sunny energy, and he'd be intrigued by the healing powers (not to mention the fascinating origin behind them). Plus he will absolutely serenade his love with "I See the Light."

Nadia - Merida

Nadia would be a fan of Megara, but Megara is NOT a Disney Princess.

This one was admittedly a bit tougher to pick. My first instinct went to Tiana, since Nadia would relate to her drive and the character arc of balancing work and love. Second thought was Aurora, as Nadia has often felt like the "cursed princess" archetype herself, but that could also make her hate the character, sooo...

Anyway, I settled on Merida since she's headstrong, independent, capable, and hey, Nadia can connect to the family drama. (Plus we all know she has a certain fondness for fiery redheads.)

Lucio - Mulan

TINKERBELL IS ALSO NOT A DISNEY PRINCESS SHE HAS HER OWN FRANCHISE FFS...

Lucio's the kind of guy who would buy into all those bad faith Disney takes that led to the dumb changes they made in the live action remakes. But even if it was just at the surface level of "badass warrior who basically blows up the bad guy in the end," Lucio would love Mulan.

(And I can see Asra finding out that Lucio's favorite princess was Mulan and then changing his own favorite out of spite.)

Portia - Ariel or Moana

This is the only one that I agree with. Portia would adore Ariel. But I can see her loving Moana, too. A strong warrior in her own right who does everything for her family, goes on epic sailing adventures, has TWO cute animal companions, AND has a friendship with the ocean that basically ends up as water magic? Plus she would cry over the "I know who you are" scene at the end.

gushy gooey thoughts i have under the cut abt megara ...

i just wanted to like, talk for a second about how megara is just so. near and dear 2 me. and how much i adore her and how emotional she makes me still and how i feel her with my whole heart. and like. i am not at all claiming that I Am Her and She Is Me because self inserts are not great, and i'm not a fan, but i think most people can relate to some aspect of each character they love, and when they write muses they inevitably always bring a hint of themselves to their take. and that's perfectly normal and healthy and makes your interpretation your own. and for me, there are certain things abt meg that i just. really, really feel.

i love women and the disney women in general, i think all of the heroines are fantastic and lovable and great in their own ways. but meg was always one that stood out to me as flawed, imperfect, and i just really felt so ... validated by her extremely sensitive, romantic, soft side that had been so deeply hurt by life and thus shielded by her sharp and cutting Edge, her fierce isolation, and her aloofness she played off as Coolness. i grew up in a pretty emotionally abusive family (i no longer talk to anyone from my biological family by choice) and by a young age i was hurt so many times by my deep desire and want to just. have friends (which i always struggled with so much). i got bullied pretty badly as a child and i was painfully shy and every time i thought i found a friend, it turned out not to be the case and i got burned in some way. anyway tl;dr i too became Cool (or tried to) and Edgy and Aloof as a teenager/young adult as a result and convinced myself i didn't care. i aligned myself with people whom were Mean back because it was the devil i knew. and it wasn't until i really grew up and met my now partner that i learned to be brave, learned it was safe to be vulnerable again and truly felt happy, and i just. seeing meg allow hercules in, slowly, allow herself to Feel and Connect and be safe, her little moments in the film in which she smiles and laughs softly and looks at hercules with such love in her eyes... in which she softens and it's okay for her to soften, that just. that really reasonated so much with younger me and it gave me so much hope, it made me so happy to see her happy. and i'm just at such peace that she got to be at such peace with her vulnerable side that was so full of love.

anyway this turned into such a mush of a post but i just love meg so much and i really love the message her character holds. i love her with my whole heart <3

as much as i love talking abt ven i dont really have the energy to make a whole essay about connecting him to various disney movies but not enough ppl point towards the little mermaid/princess and the frog/hercules when talking abt him. ariel and naveen both made "deals with the devil", megara was used by hades, and meanwhile ventus made a wish to have friends as a child, and the monkey paw curled. ventus didn't even know what he was doing and that a "devil" had granted his wish, but suddenly he was a union leader with friends at the cost of someone else's life, and since then the universe has been punishing him, no matter how many good deeds he does or sacrifices he makes. and i feel like there's gotta be SOME parallel with a disney movie we can connect this too because this is just some twisted variation of ariel wanting legs and nearly getting her kingdom destroyed. there are so many ven parallels w/ disney princesses its insane, snow white and aurora were just the beginning
