Do you ever write a super fluffy scene for your platonic ship and just... spontaneously combust?
Anywhosies, not a huge fan of writing enemies to lovers... so I'm speed running it based on Kamari and Ankh's perceptions and arcs.
And Ankh just gave Kamari a bouquet of flowers. (Under the pretense that the flowers would help Kamari calm down but STILL.)
Ankh started liking Kamari the moment fae started humming to Ankh when fae was tethered and yet Kamari still thinks that Ankh tolerates faer, nothing more.
(Ankh in this time has given Kamari flowers, helped clean Kamari's wounds, gave faer water after Kamari threw up, and has overall been the nicest Ankh can be.)
I find the 'becomming friends' part hard and messy to write, but I'm doing my best! I'm trying to build up to more of a 'big show of care' from Kamari (Ankh's more of a 'little acts of service', whereas Kamari loves giving compliments and being comforting.... although fae doesn't as of now because of being the High Protector.) then we get to the fluffy, bantering scenes while all the other fairies hope they die!
Also also, remind me to make art about them both fake-smiling so often.. and write a scene that becomes the first time they smile for real around each other.
Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the tag list! <3

Sometimes I imagine a conversation between you and me. “Are you mad at me?”
No, I’d think. “I shouldn’t be.”
“But really, are you?”
I’d stare at him for a heartbeat. I would reconsider. I would think about how beautiful he looked, laughing with her; how happy she looked when she was together with him. “I cannot be mad at you. It is your right to do as you wish. I am happy you are exercising that right. But there’s a weary sigh waiting in my chest, some feeling between acceptance and denial that I just can’t grasp. No, I’m not mad, but I can’t even look at you without thinking about all this. How can I talk to you?”
You would stare back. “I’m sorry, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Or maybe you would know. Maybe you’d heave the same sigh I need to release. “I’m sorry. I don’t think we can be friends anymore.”
Either way; this would end with you walking away, maybe forever.
I keep sighing these days: it was me who walked away, maybe forever.

Since no one asked, heres some random facts about random characters in the Small Moments AU
This is only loosely canon since things are still subject to change as the story goes on. If y'all have anything you want to add or ask more about, feel free to send an ask!
Magnolia May
Magnolia has a very rare coloration of scales, it could go for a high price in the dark market.
When she was young, about 10 or 12, she killed a man. He'd tried to kidnap her to sell her for her scales, and she bit him. Her kind have a ver potent and deadly venom in their fangs, so the man was dead in minutes. She's never gotten over that.
Magnolia is a kitchen witch, a pretty damn good one too. She learned everything from her mother, and still has all her mothers old cookbooks that she's put many safe guard charms in.
Her mother died when Magnolia was 22, it was natural causes, but Magnolia was devastated.
Her and her father are still very close, and while they live about 2 days journey apart, they still make the trek at least once a month.
Magnolia has a sizable garden at her place, and often gathers ingredients from it for her cooking and baking, but she doesn't turn her nose up to buying certain products if she needs too.
She often gives a free treat or two to kids, and anything she doesn't sell will become care packages for for her friends.
Her hands have claws on them, ones she tries to keep short, but they grow pretty fast.
Abaddon Bellerose
He's the personal guard for Princess Pyrrha Nikos.
He has a pet raven named Soul who he cares for a great deal.
Abaddon was raised by an abusive mother and a neglectful father, and he had a sister named Caroline.
Caroline died when she was 12 and he was 17. He loved her dearly, and the lose nearly broke him, especially since it was fully preventable had their parents cared even a little.
He ran away from home and joined the royal guard when he was 18, and hasn't seen or spoken to his parents since. He does visit his sisters grave when can though.
Abaddon a very skilled swords man, and has an affinity for Alchemy.
He has a very serious, cold, calculated and stoic demeanor, which served him well in battle. He has many victories under his belt, though he never forgets the losses.
He found Soul when she was just a chick, and took her in when he saw her foot was injured. He nursed her back to health and she hasn't left his side since.
Pyrrha reminds him of his sister a great deal. They even have similar eyes, both being bright green.
He's extra protective of her because of this, and if she's in danger there is nothing short of death that can stop him. And even that's debatable.
Abaddon wants Pyrrha to be happy, and to live a full life. So he'll often allow her to sneak out of the castle, making sure to keep an eye on her from a distance.

All builds and families are up on the gallery (@sweetbeagaming) + tray files have been shared here.
If you've never used a save file and need help installing it, I highly recommend this tutorial by @leeleebsimming.

⚠️ A couple of disclaimers here due to some existing EA bugs. EDIT 4/25: Included in that link are directions on how to avoid TOOL'd items from disappearing. If you want to keep powerlines and such please check this out! ⚠️
Everything was tested to work around these, but I wanted to put them out there as an FYI.
TOU: Please don't reupload my save/builds/sims, claim as your own, and absolutely do not paywall them. Other than that feel free to build your own Neighborhood stories however you'd like!

The Beginning :
magnolia katz - fourteen years old
Tumblr media
It’s the rain that keeps her up. The way it pounds against the roof of their home. It’s the way that the thunder is so loud and so near that the whole house rumbles and creaks with the force of the wind. She has wondered many times that night if the walls were going to collapse on top of them. If she didn’t know any better she’d say it was a hurricane, but she does know better. She knows better for a lot of things. She knows better than to get out of bed and voice her concerns to anyone in the home. They’ll just shoo her away and tell her she’s too old to be kept up by the storms. If she shuts her eyes tight enough and listens with all her might she can imagine her grandmother’s voice.
Do you hear that my little flower? It’s raining cats and dogs out there.
She remembers her grandmother, her mother’s mother, but only a bit. She was seven years old when the woman passed away from natural causes. Her grandmother couldn’t sleep during the storms either, said that the pound rain felt as if it wanted to put out whatever fire it could. She told Magnolia to never let the rain put out the fire that burned deep within her. When she was seven she thought her grandmother meant real rain and a real fire. She cried for hours thinking that she would be burned from the inside out. Now as she’s older she understands all the metaphors that her grandmother told her.
Magnolia sighs as she pulls her blanket closer around her, it acts as some type of armor to protect her from the fears unseen. She can’t help but glance at her sisters in the room. It’s a testimony to the roar of the winds that she can’t hear the snores that can wake her from even the deepest of sleep.
Magnolia has to pull a hand from where it’s clutching the blanket and press it to her mouth to stifle the laughter trying to escape her. She can’t help that her sister, the one closest in age to her with the name of Rosemary, sounds like an elephant when she sleeps. She can control her laughter though because if Rosemary were to wake them she’d be grounded come morning. Their parents have never liked when Magnolia thinks of her sister to sound like an elephant. Though maybe she should wake Rosemary, it would mean her parents would speak to her.
She can’t remember if her parents have spoken to her at all this week. She doesn’t blame them though, well deep down she does but she tries not to explore her darkness. She knows they have a hard time managing their children, even the three that have already moved out for college. Magnolia is the seventh child out of thirteen. She likes to joke about being the seventh daughter of the seventh daughter, though once her friend told her that the joke made no sense since she was adopted. Now Magnolia only thinks her joke instead of sharing it out loud.
Being the seventh out of thirteen is not the hardest part though, the hardest part is she’s plain. She’s not the prettiest sister, that honor goes to Lavender who is the third eldest child. She’s not the smartest as that title belongs to Basil, her brother who was born three days after her and adopted two weeks after her. There is no fancy title that belongs to her in the family. She is just simply Magnolia and that leaves her forgotten.
She has always tried her best to not mind.
Deep down, in the darkness that lays within her, all she longs for is to escape and be something more.
At first she thinks the sound is a weird thunder. It wouldn’t make sense to be anything else, but as she tries to lay down and force her eyes to shut the pounding feels louder. It’s a strange sends shivers down her spine.
“Hush! Hush Hush! Please!”
Her words are whispered frantically to herself as she quickly grabs a pillow and throws it over her face, trying to drown the sound out. If someone where to walk in it may look as if she’s trying to smother herself, which she can’t bring herself to think of as a bad thing during these moments.
After a long five minutes of listening to the stranding beating she finally decides that it sounds like a heartbeat, or some type of drum, she cannot decide. Slowly she goes over to Rosemary’s bed and shakes the sleeping girl. She flinches just a bit as a curse is biased at her as Rosemary tries to avoid the way she shakes her awake.
“What do you want?”
“Ro, do you hear that sound?”
“The thunder? I thought you were over your weird thing with storms.”
“ No! Not the thunder! Listen closely....do you hear it now? It’s like a drumming sound. It’s constantly, please tell me you hear it Rosemary!”
She knows she sounds panicked towards the end, but she feels insane. It doesn’t help that her sister is rolling her eyes and staring at her as if she’s dumb. Magnolia just knows that she can’t hear the sound.
“Go to sleep.”
With that Magnolia helplessly watches as Rosemary turns away from her. It doesn’t even take a minute until the other is back asleep.
She knows what she heard, what she is still hearing...still feeling...and she is determined to find whatever it is. Quietly she slips on her shoes before slipping out the her room. She doesn’t know how, but she knows whatever it is outside and that it would only be pointless to check inside. Magnolia doesn’t have a plan as she inches her way into the kitchen to grab a flashlight. She doesn’t even pause to think until she has already opened the back door and is stuck staring at the pouring rain.
The flash of light as lighting strikes nearby is bright enough to light up the entire backyard. She contemplates going back to her room for thicker clothes so she can fight the biting cold, but quickly changes her mind.
\\\
“Magnolia Katz you listen to me and you listen well my dear. Never, and I mean never let anything take away your spark! You may think your boring when you get compared to others, but you have something that they don’t have. Do you understand me girl?”
“Yes ma’am, but what do I have?”
“Well that’s for you to find out of course. It wouldn’t be much fun if I told you.”
\\\\\
Of course her mind may not necessarily remember that conversation with her grandmother, but her bones know it and maybe that’s why she gets propelled forward without even thinking of stepping out.
It does not take long for her to be soaked, for her teeth to begin chattering after she forms many regrets. The light from her flashlight doesn’t even begin to cut through the thickness of the downpour, but if brings her a sort of comfort as she marches out into the black abyss before her.
Their home sits on the edge of a woods, a place she’s been a thousand times before, but in the black of the night the trees look different. With the rain falling into her eyes she can’t help but wonder what she’s doing. She trips over a tree root, falls to the ground and can just tell that her knees are bleeding. She gets up and continues her walk towards the sound. All time is lost to her, she could be gone for days and she wouldn’t even know. Yet the minutes feel like hours.
She has been walking for twenty minutes and her bones ache. She can’t tell if it’s because of the walk or because of the freezing rain though. Many times she has thought about just sitting a resting for a moment, maybe letting her eyes fall shut for a quick nap in order to feel more strength, but it’s as of the noise gets louder when she thinks those thoughts. It’s the steady beat that keeps her moving forwards, no matter how much she longs to turn back.
Magnolia can’t even see where she is going, but as she just knows she’s found the source of the sound as she stares at a tree. It’s branches are all twisted up, it looks like it may come alive and attack her if she’s not careful. As she walks up to the tree she can’t help but remember the stories she’s been told, that the tree was used to hang witches in the 1600s and that their spirits still haunt the place. Maybe it’s their heartbeat hat she hears.
Before she can get to the tree she trips once more, though this time not over a tree branch. Magnolia holds out her flashlight, the weak beam shines on a box. Confusion sweeps over her. The pounding sound rattled her bones as the steady beat began to quicken and grow until it felt as if it’s ready to consume her.
Magnolia reaches out and picks up the box.
Everything goes quiet.
There is no more steady beat threatening to take her away. The storm no longer bothers her. She feels as if she can breath clearly for the first time in her entire life, as if a weight she didn’t know was there has been lifted and taken from her.
She stares at the box
JUMANJI
It is some type of board game, though she doesn’t know what the point is. She’s never heard of the game.
Slowly she stands up. She’s soaking wet and covered in mud and cuts. Nothing bothers her as she makes her way back home, instead something in her feels complete. Maybe this is the escape that the darkness in her wanted, though that thought doesn’t settle in until later.
The walk back home doesn’t seem as long as the walk to the game felt. She can’t help the groan on her lips as she notices lights on in the kitchen. Rosemary must have woken up and noticed her disappearance, that’s the only explanation for the lights.
A bit laugh escapes her mouth only to be swallowed by the wind. It never even reaches her own ears.
She will be grounded, but at least her parents will have spoken to her to do so.
As she reaches the back porch she doesn’t know what compels her to do it, but she quickly bends down and shoves the game into the small opening under the house. She’ll be back for it come morning, if she brings it in now it’ll only be taken from her.
She slips off her shoes before entering her home, a dripping mess. She can’t even begin to open her mouth before her mother’s screams echo off the wall, somehow even louder than the rain that kept her awake.
“Do you know what time it is young lady? We were terrified when your sister came and said you were not in your bed. It is three in the morning! You have been gone for an hour and a half. You better not have gone out with a boy at this time!”
She hears one of her brothers snicker snd question what boy. The noise alters their mother that someone else in the home is awake, she then turns on them to fuss that they are not in bed. Magnolia takes the distraction to slip upstairs and into her room.
Rosemary is sitting up in bed, but instead of questions she just raises an eyebrow before turning and facing the wall to go back to sleep.
Magnolia strips out of her wet clothes and quickly puts on new ones, warm ones, before getting under the covers. Finally sleep begins to take her.
As she drifts off Magnolia knows that the rain did not put out the fire in her, but instead it made it grow.

Brian David Gilbert accidentally reinventing ska aside, I do wonder why there was barely any new music written after the 1960s in the fallout universe. To the point where people in the wasteland aren’t just listening to 200 year old music but 300 year old music. During fallout 4 if you’re listening to diamond city radio when the one original song comes on Travis freaks out because he’s not used to playing tracks by people that are still alive.
If I’m gonna come up with an in-universe explanation I might guess that it’s an extreme example of what might happen if a nation devalues art to the point that cultural stagnation occurs.
Creativity is so discouraged in favor of science, warfare, engineering, and mathematics that nothing new gets produced. Old patterns for clothes are used for over 100 years, hairstyle books and learning materials are never updated, almost no new music is written. Deviating even slightly from American exceptionalism and style is heresy. New ideas outside of the sciences are stupid and to be mocked. What few artists remain just learn how to recreate what’s already been done.
I mean a vault full of musicians wasn’t even a control vault. There was no real effort to preserve musical knowledge. They were subjects in a mind control experiment.
And this attitude gets carried into the big afterwards. After the Great War all that several generations have ever known is the devaluing of creativity and new ideas. And everyone is too tired and focused on survival to try anything new.
So Magnolia writing new music? That’s weird. That’s really weird. It’s been weird for over 300 years at that point.
And if I’m remembering correctly, the only people you meet in the games writing poetry are writing really bad poetry. But in this sort of context, that makes sense. There’s this idea in writing circles that when you take a long break from writing you need to allow yourself some time to write very badly in order to clean the garbage out of your brain and get your creativity muscles exercised again.
The fallout universe is experiencing this on a global massive societal scale. Jerry the Punk writing bad poetry comparing a girl to a deathclaw and Beatrice writing a bad poem about being stuck underground is a sign of slow but steady healing. The fallout world is getting a lot of garbage out of its system from over 300 years of cultural stagnation and learning how to make stuff again.

*cracks knuckles* thank you for asking dear stranger i would love to ramble about my children (the?) Heroes of the City (sorry, I still don't understand how article THE works) is a story in the genre of LitRPG (like literature + RPG or manhwas/novells about rankers) and it's about Players who are trying to save The Sentient (?) City from self-destruction (or help it destroy itself if a Player feels like hating the world) so the main cast is Eki (she/them) aka The Leviathan Slayer aka The Hero she smol she kind she could kill a god if this god is a threat to her found family but only if said god is a physical threat she is a beating pillow for every morally gray/black character in The City and will never win against charismatic-based villain (she's very naive and soft hearted and everybody uses it)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Black Silver (she/her) aka The Witch or The City's Shadow
the hottest and the deadliest villain of The City and i have nothing else to say
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rex (he/them) aka [data deleted]
he is one of The City creators and his main mission is to be a threat to his ex-soulmate - Black Silver who is actively destroying The City
they are the Most Toxic Couple of the project and i feel terror every time i think about them
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Little Box (she/her) aka [???]
i don't know what she is and i'm lowkey scared to know so she's just vibin' here and there (i think she's dead)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Coffee Fox (he/him) aka The Keeper aka The Guardian
a barista of a tiny coffee shop and The Retired King of The City
he brings comfort and love to every Hero but can only watch The City fall because he's forever locked in his coffee shop
Tumblr media
Magnolia (she\her) and Glitches (they\them) aka The Healer/The Parasite
ah yes a cool badass parasite with no morale compass and an absolutely miserable host with terrible anxiety disorder i love it (Glitches also often flirts with The Bitch i mean with the guy who is hated by the whole City and Magnolia lives in constant fear because of it)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Midas (he/him) aka The Bitch i mean The Cursed King
The Bitch of The City (and he's fucking rich and hot too i hate him so fucking much i don't even draw him consistently WHYYYYYYYYYYY)
Tumblr media
anyway
Adam (the fuck/that) aka The Emptiness
the mute horror of the City (he likes Little Box and Magnolia though)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
aaaaaand the last one
42 aka Zwai (man/failure)
he's just funny little guy with horrible medicine trauma and a cat
