Accidentally started rereading Northanger Abbey, and was sudden reminded all over again that Jane Austen is, in fact, fucking hilarious.

NA is her parody/satire of Gothic novels at the time, and she starts the book by choosing violence-- she describes the "tragedy" of the main character, Catherine Morland, a girl Determined to be a Heroine even though ALL ODDS are against her: she has a sane father who doesn't lock up his daughters, a healthy mother who didn't die in childbirth, no preternatural talent for music or drawing through which to reveal her Deepest Soul, and-- most shockingly of all-- absolutely zero love interests for whom she can wander the hills mourning their starcrossed fates until she wastes away from the sheer Sentimentality of it all.

But don't worry! She's got this FIGURED OUT. She KNOWS why she has not yet found her TRUE LOVE:

There was not one lord in the neighbourhood; no—not even a baronet. There was not one family among their acquaintance who had reared and supported a boy accidentally found at their door—not one young man whose origin was unknown. Her father had no ward, and the squire of the parish no children.

But when a young lady is to be a heroine, the perverseness of forty surrounding families cannot prevent her. Something must and will happen to throw a hero in her way.

(SPOILER: She is introduced to a mysterious young man who lives in an ABBEY, which everyone knows means he has a DEEPLY MYSTERIOUS SECRET PAST and is maybe a TRAGIC HERO or even a ROMANTIC MONSTER and either way this is IT this is Catherine's TIME TO SHINE she is going to get a good grade in DOOMED LOVE, a thing that is normal to want and--)

(...meanwhile Henry Tilney-- an ordinary guy who never expected "get cast as the Hero in some Grand Gothic Romance" to show up on his bingo card-- starts wondering when exactly he started finding Catherine's attempts to locate bloody daggers in his linen closet charming.)

Soap sighs: Fine, but if it all goes downhill it’s ye’ fault

Soap: Alright… gonna need this bucket of ice cre-

Ghost through some coms: If you say ice cream I will leave, and report to the the police someone’s robbing. We did not come here for ice cream! We are running out of time!

Soap: I came here for ice cream, what did ye’ expect I was gonna rob!?

Ghost appears next to Soap: EXPENSIVE THINGS

Soap: Who’s in the car!?

Ghost: Relax, it’s two in the morning, no one’s gonna notice

Soap: I’m not going to jail because of ye’! Stay here and I’ll go to the van

Ghost: Soap we can’t be leaving and entering, we’re risking ourselves!

Soap scoffs and yanks the ice cream off Ghost’s hands: I’m leaving and I’m taking the ice cream with me.

Ghost arguing while Soap walks out: Is that what a real robber does? Steal ice cream!?

Ghost scoffs: Pathetic

Ghost: Alright, help me here-

Ghost: What are you doing sleeping, Johnny!

(Ghost smacks him)

Soap: What the!? Why’d ye’ smack me!

Ghost: Who sleeps in the middle of a heist!

Soap scoffs: You call this a heist?

Ghost: With what I got then yeah

Soap: What did ye’ get…

Ghost: Turns out that store has everything else you’re looking for besides Ice cream

Soap: Is that a necklace!?

Ghost: Yep, and it’s made out of real diamonds

Soap: That’s beautiful! I’m jealous, I’m goin ins-

Ghost drags him back to the van: Too late, buddy. They’re opening in an hour. It’s time to go

Soap: But I want a diamond necklace!

Ghost: Relax, I got the whole counter

Soap: You see… this is why we’re thief buddies. With your intelligence and my-

Ghost: Your what.

Soap: Uh… my plans

Ghost: Yeah right, last time your plan got us in jail for a week

Soap: We had the best times in jail

The Thief of Heart [symbols: money bag, heart]

The Thief class is based on the classic thief trope. An example would be the pirate Blackbeard.

The Heart aspect’s main theme is instinct. You can find its official description here.

A Thief of Heart is among those who use the individual's impact. This is the “classpect group” they belong to. Members include: the Knight, Page, Thief, and Rogue of Mind/Heart. These classes are all opposites or inverses of each other that use the Mind/Heart dichotomy (the individual's impact). A description of classpect groupings can be found here.

The Thief of Heart actively steals the Heart aspect. Active classes tell themselves what to do and do so for their own benefit. They are more likely to stand up for themselves, but more likely to be cruel. Thieves and Rogues steal their aspect and everything it symbolizes to grant it to someone else. Simplified, the Thief of Heart is motivated by themselves to steal instinct.

In personality, the Thief of Heart enjoys feeling powerful and is invested in self discovery. Personality descriptions can be found here.

Their archetype is the Spy Free Spirit, defined by power and instinct. Archetypes are explained here.

Their opposite is the Rogue of Mind, who passively steals intuition.

Their inverse is the Page of Mind, who passively utilizes intuition.

A classpect or “god tier” is an individual’s best self. All classpects go through a journey from unrealized, to struggle, to realized. When a character is unrealized, they neutrally exist as their inverse. On their struggle, they will wildly flip back and forth between their inverse and true classpect. In their worst moments they will act as their inverse, in their best their true classpect. When realized, they will stabilize as their true classpect. They will still have room to grow, but will become happier, more successful people.

This means that the Thief of Heart begins life motivated by others to utilize intuition. When their struggle arrives and they are at their worst, they will continue this behavior in negative extremes. However, when at their best, they will find purpose in instead stealing instinct for themselves. When realized, they will stabilize and continue to steal the Heart aspect actively, in a positive way.

They share their archetype with the Rogue of Void, the Free Spirit Spy.

The Thief of Heart would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Valuables [Thief] and Heart [Aspect]. An example would be the Land of Castles and Arteries. An explanation of planet naming conventions can be found here.

Two possible gods, or denizens, to reign over their planet would be Aphrodite (Goddess of Love) or Yaldabaoth (Trapper of Souls). Other Heart aspect denizens can be found here.

When the Thief of Heart completes their planet quests and dies on their quest bed, they would rise to ascension on the wings of ladybugs (symbols of love). A list of soul animals can be found here.
