I promise I'm going to answer my asks soon, this fucking chapter is just killing me rn. There's so much work to do on it (I have 28 tabs of research open alone) and it's turned out to be very complex and much more in depth than I had planned for it to be. On top of the scientific research, there's pacing and structure and everything else, so it's taking a lot of my time up.

Shit I’m like removing stuff left and right from these last sections now 😅 Ah the plights of editing, one minute you’re scared it’s gonna be 40K and the next it’s back down to 35K.

Mostly I’m realizing how I drafted it before made it a lot less fun? Like I want to still keep an element of realism here, and Shuichi certainly treats this heist more seriously than Kokichi does, but I’m also like… the whole point of heisting in a phantom thief AU is that it’s fun and creative. And to some extent, Shuichi needs to enjoy chasing after the phantom thief, too, even if his reasons for needing to catch him are pretty dire. Soooo we’re changing up the ending a bit again 🤣

Sorry if that’s frustrating to read, but know I don’t do anything unless I think it’ll make the chapter better. I’m never married to anything in drafts unless they’re absolutely necessary for the outline to progress how I have it. Just ‘cause I spent time and effort on it doesn’t mean it fits, sooooo into my “unused pieces” google doc it goes! 🤣

The "Kinjo would be a writer if he wasn't so incredibly repressed" made me imagine and now I have the hc that he would be that kind of fantasy writer that has like 100 words in the actual story and then you check the story's bible and is like half million words of extensive detail of worlbuilding and if someone were to ask when hes gonna start writing the actual characters he replies when he finished the taxanomy of every species left

oh, word. he definitely would- gets into a groove and starts to think of the entire universe top to bottom, but when it comes to actual writing he just stares blankly at a piece of paper. yknow the “✨T✨he” meme from spongebob? That. I feel like he’d know what he has in mind, but just can never figure out how to put words to paper. he could tell you all about this fantasy creature but as for how the main character will get to point a from point b in their arc, your guess is as good as his

The guy needs to write as a treat. Or have a hobby in general, but this in specific. Write complete fantasy as some escapism, and keep a journal or some shit just to get his wretched thoughts onto the paper. whatever the application, doing so would probably involve tackling different character perspectives and arcs, so it would fix him a bit too. i imagine he’d have a basic but extremely lovable protag, and yuki would be his muse. just thinks about whatever yuki would do in a situation, and writes that. and thus, he makes a freaking blorbo oc based off his gamer boyfriend, completely unwittingly (joking)(…unless)

I had such a lofty writing goal going into the new year only to become an even slower writer.

there's a LOT of bouncing around in the lost trio challengers au and it's not even done yet but rn even I get lost in my 13k word document sometimes. a part of me thinks that this is a story best read in one sitting even more so than most multichapter fics (just, with how things unravel and how I'm playing tennis with the characters), but I also want to make it manageable without finding a nonsense halfway point just to make a part one and part two (which is not how it was written)...

I did find areas where the perspective kind of switches between characters to build (so far) 2.4k, 3.2k, 5.5k, and 1.7k+ word chapters. and that's a lot more accurate to how it's been written—you bounce in one or two characters' brains for a little, it contextualizes what's happening in the present, and now you understand the last POV better/the next one will make more sense.

what do y'all think about me slowly posting them (probably with a day in between each, since I am trying to finish those last chapters soon) vs posting it as one complete work all at once vs posting... 4-5 chapters all at once? I've written it assuming that it's all one piece, and more gets uncovered about past "chapters" as things get revealed, which makes bouncing around helpful, so I think that the reasoning for either format is kind of the same except for what people prefer/if people would read the same work differently if it were posted differently

Are the Alpha Centauri trinary system like the Sun's siblings? Cousins if that's the case? (Also how is Ceres taller then Makemake when she's smaller then him in real life)

Hi! Actually I'm still not sure, a lot of the stars are friends. Sometimes if they're in the same system, then they could act as if they're family, found family, or even lovers for some. Sun probably sees the Alpha Centauri system as close friends! Earth looks up to them too. The three are likely friends or found family, I haven't thought about them much yet.

Also for the height, I'm still working on them! The main cast should be fixed, but the deuteragonists like Ceres and Makemake are still not fixed.

Although! There's an answer for that too. In the lore, sometimes the Caelestis (personification) aren't always proportional to their real life counterparts. It all roots down to their house size and their ranks.

For example, Halley's comet is taller than Mercury! But Hal ranks lower than Mercury (comets rank lower than planets) and his home is much smaller than Mercury's.

Given this information, you can just imagine how huge the Sun's palace is... or how huge TON 618's manor? Castle? Is.

Hi Clam. Question about CoGR. I know you didn't have the fic finished when you first started posting. Did you make an outline for the whole fic or did you just wing it?

I'm struggling to keep my longfic together and could use some pointers.

But in the case of CoGR specifically, yes, the entire fic was outlined before I started writing! Every chapter had a very basic concept attached to it so I understood what was meant to happen + how his Thought Processes had formed. And at the very top of the doc I had the entire Zote History written out so I could keep it in mind as I wrote

I also color-coded chapters based on where they were taking place, unless something important was discussed in that chapter, in which case they were color-coded with red text (hence my author notes referring to certain chapters as "colored red"!)

actually i went digging thru my files and I found the old planning doc, so if u were wondering how the cogr plan looked, well. here u go,

and yes it's in chronological precept order, meaning my plan was backwards. i only figured out that I wanted to go in reverse precept order After I wrote down the initial plan, lmao

But even with an established outline far in advance, stuff was constantly getting tweaked and messed around with as I wrote. Really big plot points stayed relatively the same (such as Chapter 47 - the plan for that stayed pretty cut and dry from start to finish) but some things ended up being added or changed as I went along (for instance, the entire grub arc was a sort of last minute decision; I got the idea a few chapters in advance and went 'hey fuck it that'd be fun to add' so I Did, and I found it made the chapters where the grub was included far more interesting than if they were never there!)

So my advice would be to make an outline but not be too hard on yourself when it comes to sticking to it. I find an outline to be SUPER helpful, as if I don't plan something well in advance I just end up writing myself into a hole (R.I.P Tinnitus), but adding little things as I write can make it all the better. So make a plan, yeas, but give yourself breathing room for changing things/adding stuff!
