George Weasley is Disabled, and it’s frustrating how easily people just brush it off or ignore it. So, imma fight that
🧏🏼‍♂️
George Weasley Headcanons For After The War
Tumblr media
He started to pick up sign language, and often uses it when talking to the young students who come into the shop. His sign name is “Orange Twin” Since orange is his favorite color
He gave Fred the Sign name “Purple Twin” by Proxy
He has a habit of leaning a lot. As to focus his good ear at people, in order to hear them
He rarely sleeps on his right side, because it cuts out all sound. And since he is a victim of fighting a war, he suffers paranoia from his PTSD. So dead silence is a no go
He’s rather self conscious about his missing ear, and will try and style his hair to hide it
It’s also a painful reminder that he isn’t identical to Fred anymore. In a morbid way, a physical reminder Fred is no longer with him. Not even in his own reflection
Given what spell that claimed his ear, Sectumsempra, he has multiple scars on the side of his head. Which also cut into his hair, and cheek. So he had to grow out his hair a bit, in order to hide them
He developed a real hate for things being to quite, so he’s always having some kind of noise playing. He just can’t sleep if his bedroom is to quiet. He just won’t
He makes jokes, and acts like it doesn’t bother him. More so because of other people than his own comfort. He was always the guy to make everyone else feel better. So he kinda bottled up the side effects of the trauma it gave him
He has phantom pain, so it’s not uncommon to see him rubbing the side of his head. As if his ear was still there
A real way to his heart is to kiss the scars on the side of his head. It makes him feel not so gross. It’s also something Fleur has done with Bill, so it triggers just that side of his brain to say “I am loved”
Kids often times point it out, but a child doing it never bothers him. It’s a case to teach them, and encourage their curious nature. If an adult does it? He gets very uncomfortable very fast.
George Weasley is a disabled man, and that’s ok. Disabled people exist, and he’s a man that survived a war. You can be young, and disabled. You can be pretty and disabled. Disabled people exist

Before you romanticize “walkable cities,” and “reliable transit,” to me, please remember that disabled people exist…
Before you romanticize the idea that fitness problems will disappear if we switch to transit, please remember that there are other reasons that people might not be able to walk, not just fitness.
Before you try to tell me that SUV’s are obtrusive and unnecessary and harmful, please remember that people in wheelchairs exist…
Before you start designing your utopian transit-centric society… please remember to include disabled people…
If disabled people don’t exist in your vision of a perfect society… I do not trust you.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again
#yeehaw#1k#5k#10k#posts that got cursed. blasted. im making these tag updates after... 19 hours?#also i have been told it should say speech loss bc nonverbal specifically refers to the permanent state. did not know that!#unfortunately i fear it is so far past containment that even if i edited it now it would do very little. but noted for future reference#edit 2: nvm enough ppl have come to rb it from me directly that i changed the wording a bit. hopefully this makes sense#also. in case anyone is curious. though i doubt anyone who is commenting these things will check the original tags#1) my friend did not do this on purpose in any way. it was not intended to distract me or to hit on me. im a lesbian hes a gay man. cmon now#he felt very bad about it afterwards. i thought it was hilarious but it was very embarrassed and apologetic#2) “why didn't he use 🫵🏼?” didn't exist yet. “why didn't he use 🆗?” dunno! we'd been using a lot of hand emojis. 👌🏼 is an ok sign#like it makes sense. it was just a silly mixup. also No i did not invent 👉🏼👌🏼 as a gesture meaning sex. do you live under a rock#3) nonspeaking episodes are a recurring thing in my life and have been since i was born. this is not a quirky one-time thing#it is a pervasive issue that is very frustrating to both myself and the people i am trying to communicate with. in which trying to speak is#extremely distressing and causes very genuine anguish. this post is not me making light of it it's just a funny thing that happened once#it's no different than if i post about a funny thing that happened in conjunction w a physical disability. it's just me talking abt my life#i don't mind character tags tho. those can be entertaining. i don't know what any of you are talking about#Except the ppl who have said this is pego/ryu or wang/xian. those people i understand and respect#if you use it as a writing prompt that's fine but send it to me. i want to see it#aaaand i think that's it. everyday im tempted to turn off rbs on it. it hasn't even been a week

Disabled people should be allowed to exist in public. Yes, I mean all disabled people.
That includes people with tic disorders.
That includes people who smell ‘bad’.
That includes people who can’t help being loud.
That includes people who move ‘strangely’.
That includes people with bulky mobility aids.
That includes people who drool.
That includes people who struggle with incontinence.
We all should get to exist, however that looks, and go out in public, use public transport, do activities outside our homes. And we should be allowed to do those things without being glared at or having ableist things said to us.

Leftists have started to get too comfortable with the concept of, “You have to work and contribute to society” and calling people leaches or whatever.
If y’all can’t realize some people will never be able to contribute in any capacity and will just have to be taken care of and given resources for the sake of living comfortably, then y’all will never care for some of the most vulnerable people of society.

I'm telling you you guys have to stop buying into the propaganda about disability fakers. EVEN if fakers exist to the extent that it is a massive problem, disabled people still should be given proper support. If governments and other organizations fail to deliver that it does not matter what their excuse is; they have still failed disabled people and that is unacceptable. If their solution to so-called fakers is one that harms disabled people then they have not actually solved anything, but it sure as hell is a convenient scapegoat.
It also CANNOT be overstated that many people with legitimate needs are and will continue to be labeled as fakers, a sentence which is hurtful at best and deadly at worst.

Anti-technology people who insist they're not ableist crack me up. What about people who rely on machines to breathe, eat, keep their heart functioning, or otherwise stay alive? "Well not that technology, obviously!" Ok what about AAC users, people who use hearing aids, or otherwise use technology to interact with the world in ways they otherwise couldn't? "Not that technology, obviously." Okay, my mobile phone is my memory, my sense of time, my sense of direction when I get lost, my ability to contact someone when I need help. It is my personal freedom because without it I would need full time care and supervision. But yes, that technology, right?
I hate how technology is made and utilised under capitalism as much as the next guy, but to pretend that technology doesn't greatly improve the lives of countless people, or even allow them to continue being alive, is to be willfully ignorant to the existence of disabled people. A world without technology is a world where a lot of disabled people don't get to survive. Capitalism is the problem, not the technology. Technology can (and should) exist just fine without capitalism.

I love you, trans people with intellectual disabilities. You deserve to have the same opportunities as everybody else, and that's because you are a person. You deserve to be happy. Intellectually disabled trans people deserve the exact same respect, recognition, and love that (should be) afforded to everybody else.
Intellectually disabled trans people, you deserve to make your own decisions about your transness. You are allowed to want for transition or to change your name, clothes, hair, pronouns, or anything else. You deserve support and understanding. I hope you are able to receive that. You belong in this world as your true self. Your transness and your disability/disabilities are not bad things - they are good, and they are important.

“how would it work if Cybertronians had disabilities” “What if there were disabled Cybertronians”
THERE ARE
THERE ARE
loosing my mind at how some things that are So good can be So niche why can’t we just be a hivemind
Just one example, my favorite example, is:
Tumblr media
Shattered Glass Soundwave!!!
Tumblr media
He’s gone through Multiple reformats varying between with his consent and,,, not. The latest of which took place when they didn’t have many materials
So they used half earth metals half Cybertronian ones
As it turns out? Those two things don’t mix very well. His joints are Horrible. They lock up randomly, the worst of which being the door to his tape deck.
He physically isn’t able to dock his cassettes reliably because they might get stuck in there.
What does he do to fix this? So glad you asked!! He has his own assistive aids, in this case: a portable external carrying case
It was made and personalized to work specifically for him and his situation
Tumblr media
I love him

Since my Disabled George Weasley Headcanons kinda uh. Popped off, time for more disabled rep-!
Headcanons For Long Shouren About His Missing Arm
Tumblr media
His arm is completely missing. No nub. It’s just a shoulder, with deep burns that reach across his chest and back
Given he works as a Dragonologist, that metal arm of his is covered in bite marks
Also it means his arm gets stolen by baby dragons constantly
Since he has burn scars, the metal arm tends to irritate it very easily. Especially since there is a metal plating that goes over his shoulder, as a makeshift shoulder blade for the metal arm
Since he felt like he deserved to lose his arm, he takes any pain he gets and keeps quiet about it. Never really venting about it, or having actual grief or mourning. Which isn’t healthy, but as I said. He felt like he deserved it, and whatever pain that came with it
He has more than one arm, for different occasions. Like a ceramic for special parties of formal nature. Amongst others
He holds no issue in explaining his arm, and showing it off to anyone who asks. Given he has the mentality of deserving to lose it, he doesn’t really see it as a burden or issue. So in a morbid way, it helps him live a mentally healthier life with the social norms
He has 100% taken said arm off, and wacked people with it for being stupid. So mostly Charlie Weasley
Despite it all, he still suffers intense nightmares from the event. Especially if he’s had a long day wearing the arm. Causing heavy irritation
It’s hard to ever see him without his arm, unless he feels truly safe with you. Given how dangerous a job like Dragonology is. The only person who has actually seen him with out his arm, that wasn’t before bed, was Charlie Weasley
He has a habit of spinning his wrist, as a fidget. Along with messing with said arm in any fashion. It’s a portable fidget toy, with all its small parts that help make it work after all
Unfortunately, he was actually left handed. But given the incident, he’s now been forced to become ambidextrous
The only person that Shouren has somewhat been open about his problems is Charlie Weasley
He has to wear clothes over his metal arm, or his hair WILL keep getting caught in the joints. That shit hurts
He has muscle spasms, neck pain, chronic pain, Phantom Pain, and multiple types of nerve damage. I mean, he literally had his arm burned right off. You aren’t going to live a normal life from burn damage. Especially since it’s implied it was burned to an absolute ash. His nerves are shot. He isn’t going to live a happy and ever normal life
He’s in a job where stuff like this happens constantly. So he will have a support network that can help him. The arm was most likely even company policy to offer, since it happens so frequently. He will also have Charlie Weasley to offer support. A strong support network goes a long way

Very funny to me how Stansas present her character as being so interesting and complex because of her vulnerabilities, while simultaneously ignoring those same vulnerabilities in other characters. Dany is sold as a bridal slave and lacks agency throughout AGOT and after. Her dragons are either too young/small to utilize effectively or locked away for the majority of the story. They aren't some all-powerful trump card that protects her from harm. Arya is captured as a prisoner of war, forced to watch countless people tortured and murdered, and then essentially enslaved in Harrenhal with no way to fight back. She has an entire arc of feeling powerless, of being a "mouse", during ACOK. She doesn't have "kung-fu" or the ability to magically fight her way out of every situation, she's a young child lacking physical strength with only the most basic sword training.
Sansa isn't the only female character, she isn't the only young character, she isn't the only character who suffered, and no one is obligated to prioritize her. I'm so tired of Dany and Arya being mischaracterized and having their stories erased to prop Sansa up. "Sansa has kept her dignity" In other words, let's praise her for having a level of security that Dany and Arya don't have access to. She hasn't ever been forced to make a hard decision which of course means that she's morally superior to them. They can't even admit to themselves that her lack of action is due to her own passivity. If it doesn't fit their delusion, they erase it from the story and expect the rest of us to play along. Ask one of them what they like about her character without bringing up her being the ultimate victim, and I genuinely don't believe they'd be able to give you an answer. They belittle other characters more than they talk about her and these takes just scream insecurity/jealousy at the content and development other characters have in their POVs.

the opposite sides of the autism spectrum are so rarely talked about.
hypersensitive and easily overstimulated ? how about hyposensitive/sensory seeking and easily understimulated ?
expressionless and monotone ? how about overexpressive ?
too quiet and introverted or doesn’t talk much ? how about really extroverted and talks too much and has no trouble at all coming up to strangers ?
little to no eye contact ? how about making so much eye contact that the other person becomes uncomfortable ?
for a long time i thought i couldn’t be autistic because i didn’t experience the stereotypical traits, apparently i just experienced the opposite sides of the spectrum. all autistic people are valid, even if their autism presents differently :3

the reason it's a bad thing to only talk about a certain group of people when it benefits your argument is that it shows that you don't actually care about us as people. you can bring us up in an argument if the argument calls for it. whatever. but using an entire community as a gotcha and then attacking that same community when they ask for rights and recognition is complete bullshit. you don't get to use us as an argument if you clearly only see us as a thought experiment and nothing more
