Can I get real nerdy for a second and gush about how much I love the way they mic his drums. Like it looks so goofy at a glance because ii and his team make choices I've never seen anyone else do, but it always sounds SO good. I read an article today from an interview with their front of house engineer about how they use D6s on the toms rather than just the kick and like I've seen them do that and always wondered why but now I wanna try it myself so fukin bad (but like who tf has more than one D6 laying around at one time). The tone and clarity they get from it is amazing.

Also the fact that it started as a joke and then their engineer talking about trying new things and always being curious and willing to learn makes me so happy. I know so many musicians who have bad impressions of engineers cause they've met too many cranky old techs who obviously are upset they didn't make it as an artist instead. As an engineer who genuinely loves what they do and wouldn't give it up for anything, it disheartened me hearing that from my friends when I started my career. As a musician myself I'd dealt with techs who didn't give a shit but honestly it's been a harder pill to swallow seeing how many of these guys I've had to work around now who are so stuck in their ways and unwilling to learn. Seeing a seasoned engineer like that, in a position I'd kill for, doing revolutionary shit (that I truly think is going to catch on as his own technique) have such an obviously good rapport with his talent and telling new engineers to not be afraid to ask questions gives me hope.

I could say a lot more about both ii's kit/how it sounds, and also just engineering and musician/tech relations but I'm tired and this post already went off the rails lmao

hot take but. Before people were fucking about with terms and stuff, old movies had WAYY more deep platonic connections that could be mistaken for romance and stuff. Not that they had romantic or sexual tension but like.. people nowadays look at two characters glance at eachother and think ‘wow. They should fuck’ but a room of guys would stare at some guy tenderly holding another guy on tv because he had a nightmare and think ‘wow. What a very sweet moment with absolutely no other connotations other than deep respect and sincerity.’

I fucking love the "platonic yandere batfam x neglected reader" but I wish there was more of it to explore.

Like where are the readers that are bitter yet burned out? The reader that knows that they're being forgotten about early on (maybe it's familiar– maybe their mom was terrible too) and doesn't push for the attention? They know that trying their best and worst won't get them the results they want so they just... fade in the background. No awards or straight As– the reader strives for mediocrity and prays to dissappear as soon as they can and start over. They don't want anyone in this godforsaken family to ever give them a crumb of thought but eventually they do and any ounce of attention is hell.

Or what about the reader that hurts and hurts and hurts until they can't take it anymore and they attempt the unthinkable. Whether this reader wanted the batfam to be hurt by their death is up to interpretation but the results are the same. They were negligent sure but they never hated the reader– it's all so sudden that the spiral is damn near immediate. Wouldn't you do so too, afraid and guilty and grief striken that you're inaction could have killed someone that was supposed to be dear to you?

I think about it sometimes.

i could make a millions posts abt arcane and how impressive and meaningful season 1 was and how season 2 just butchers the interesting elements of the story entirely

i loved the previous interpretation of vander and silco not knowing the children they were taking in at all, it added so much weight. vander took vi and powder in because he felt responsible for what happened and silco took in powder because he related to her. implying that they adopted them because they were the kids of a friend cheapens the whole thing.

on the topic of vander, I really found it so cheesy how often they referred to him as their dad this season, especially when they never did in s1. and having jinxs relationship with him suddenly be so much closer just didn't make sense to me. in s1 powder seemed to respect him as an authority figure but she seemed to valued vi more as a guardian. maybe this can be chalked up to the fact that vander only had one scene with powder, but even then powder doesn't open to him like she does with vi. so having jinx suddenly be all affectionate with warwick seemed off but idk maybe that's just me. I also think warwick was handled badly tbh but w/e

moving on to vi and jinx. oh my god the way their arcs and relationship were shoved aside this season makes me want to cry. in s1 they had so much agency. the things vi and jinx did would ripple through the rest of the plot. I came into s2 expecting them to be doing the absolute most but they were so passive. it felt vi kinda just goes with whatever the plot wanted instead of how in s1 it felt like her actions shaped the plot, if that makes sense. and the way jinxs hallucinations are like barely they anymore?? in ep 9 of s1 it's heavily implied that the shimmer surgery made her paranoia and hallucinations worse but in s2 she's kind of just depressed and cold, nothing like the slightly erratic and manic girl she was in s1. dropping a kid on her and making her mellow out so much was kinda corny and I mourn s1 jinx everyday.

- you can always tell how intentional and well thought out their transitions are and it gets me every time

I fucking love Odysseus and Menelaus as a character dynamic so much. They are so so different in personality but in their goals they are so similar.

Both loving husbands and fathers. Willing to do anything and practically anything for the ones they cared for. Despite their differences in where their morals lie, this is something consistent and I love them for it.
