Alright. I had some kind of tolerance toward these two before. Hell, I had been liked Ozzie even! Unfortunately, after "Mastermind" has released I can't stand them (or the way they're written, to be more specific) anymore! 💢

Bee and Ozzie both are supposed to be that nice and well-meaning individuals who actually care about the commoners unlike the other (bad) capitalists. In fact, they're just two bratty kids who'd rather bully some loser than do philanthropy. But Viv with the standom are so desperate to prove us otherwise. And that's so annoying!

Evidently Bee is a party gal. She's chill 'n cool. But most importantly, despite of being a royal she doesn't give a damn about stupid rules. She considers hellhounds as her equals and throws a parties for them. She cares about her people very much! And of course - OF COURSE! - she'd like to help Loona and co. but... Sigh! Her paws are tied! Besides, there are more important things to do. Like putting Mammon in his place. When else could you find perfect time for this if not at the court, right? Plus, Bee supports slave trade. Just saying.

And Ozzie... Uuuggh, please don't even get me started on him! The topic deserves a separate post because it's large and I don't mean to go deep into this right now. Instead, I'm going to rant about how Bee and Ozz stand up for Blitzø vs how they attack Mammon. So we could figure their true top priority out.

And excuse me, but, uh... Where's the lie? Bee and Ozz both are banging with the lowest of the lowest. That's true. Their reaction seems kinda "You ask me for facing the truth, but you do it without respect" in that instance. Like??? Are they embarrassed by being called out? Or do they've got offended because Mammon marked their lovers as "the low class plebs"? 🤨

Well, sweeties, I have a bad news for you! There's the class system in your society. That system implies division into classes - low and high. Hence your baes belong to the low one. And they won't stop to belong to it even if you pulled them out of that environment. You can't "fix" them like that. Because the moment you've got bored with them they'll be left with nothing. As far as the system is still alive. The system in whose existence you - Bee and Ozz - are involved as deeply as Mammon. And his words about the "plebs" isn't just his individual opinion. It's the whole upper crust's point of view. So maybe you should try beating up the system? What's the use of your hassle with Mammon? You don't even reproach him for bigotry - that would be valid - but for being unfuckable. This whole situation seems not like fight for justice but like expression of your personal aversion. If so, then why the hell are you getting distracted from the court where the fate of one commoner is decided?

Anyway, let's get back to Bee and Ozz. They were doing that childish nonsense... and what have they achieved? Well, they've managed to make Mammon suck a d. Wow, the true heroes we deserve! Now all the imps and hellhounds rotting in poverty and slavery could breathe easily. Bravo!

Conclusion: The narrative (and Viv) wants us to regard Bee and Ozz as the good capitalists, although they put in almost no effort. They do the bare minimum and the standom is justifying them by lack of power and "Satan is the law". However, the lack of power and "Satan is the law" don't stop them from bickering with Mammon in the middle of the trial.

Thus Bee and Ozz prefer to get distracted by stupid childish nonsense without any significant value (and they do this enthusiastically) instead of helping Blitzø and his team. They don't try to noticeably change the status quo on a daily basis as well, even support it (Bee's slave trade). Still, they're admired by the whole fandom as if they're victims of circumstance who are simply deprived of the opportunity to do anything. And this hypocritical rhetoric is pissing me off so much.

I made this meme a while ago in response to the climate of the asexual communities on Reddit, specifically the meme subreddit r/aaaaaaacccccccce, which was constantly warring between "too many sex-repulsed memes" and "too many sex-favorable" memes.

Asexuality by definition is experiencing little to no sexual attraction to other people regardless of gender. It is considered an umbrella of sexualities. Every kind of ace person in the world exists, and you have no right to say that someone "isn't really asexual" or "is actively harming the community" by approaching life the way they do. Keep in mind that discrimination for being asexual intersects with race, gender, other queer identities, disability, and other factors.

How any individual asexual chooses to lead their life with regards to their asexual identity is none of my business as a human being. Rather, it is my duty to listen to their experiences and accept that even if they're not my own, that they're still a part of the community. And, as a human being, every asexual has a story worth listening to.

Will and Hannibal Were Not "Obviously" Having Sex—And the Acephobia in Fandom Needs to Stop

I came across a post so rancid I had to stop everything and write this. Someone claimed that Hannibal confirmed Will and Hannibal were sexually intimate but that censorship forced it to be hidden through symbolism and metaphor. Then, they went on to say that ace interpretations of the characters are “distortions” and a result of people “projecting” their own issues with sexuality onto the show.

This isn’t just a bad take. It’s blatantly acephobic, and it reflects a larger issue in fandom where intimacy is treated as incomplete or lesser if it doesn’t include sex.

First, there is no explicit or implied confirmation in the show that Will and Hannibal had sex. The claim that NBC forced Bryan Fuller to “hide” a sex scene behind metaphor is completely made up. This is the same network that aired an entire dream sequence of the characters engaged in a trippy threesome/foursome. If Fuller wanted to confirm a sexual relationship, he would have found a way. The idea that sex was “implied” but had to be hidden is purely headcanon.

The argument that Bedelia “essentially states it as fact” is also wrong. Bedelia confirms that Hannibal is in love with Will, but that doesn’t mean it was sexual. The idea that her language was specifically about sex ignores the fact that Hannibal’s love for Will is directly compared to his love for his sister Mischa, the only other person he truly loved. There’s no evidence that Hannibal ever wanted or needed a sexual relationship with Will. What he wanted was complete and total emotional intimacy. That’s why his idea of a perfect life with Will included raising Abigail together, not sex.

The idea that Hannibal “replaced” Will with Bedelia because he needed someone he was familiar with "psychologically, emotionally, and physically" also falls apart. Bedelia was a means to an end. He didn’t love her, and she didn’t love him. She was convenient. Hannibal's ideal was never "finding a new Will"; it was making Will understand and choose him.

The claim that Will and Hannibal’s violence comes from "repressed sexual tension" and that their bond is a metaphor for "sexual awakening" isn’t supported by anything in the show. If their relationship was about sexual repression, there would be some indication that Will experiences that kind of desire—yet every single one of his physical relationships in the show is with a woman.

And let's get into Word of God:

Bryan Fuller himself has said that if asked, Will would identify as heterosexual, but that his bond with Hannibal is beyond labels, tied to intellect and emotion, not physical attraction. If Will’s love for Hannibal is so intense that it transcends sexuality itself, then an ace reading makes more sense than a sexual one.

And then there’s the blatant acephobia in the original post. The entire argument hinges on the idea that intimacy is only fully realized through sex. That if Will and Hannibal truly loved each other, it had to be sexual. That sex wasn’t just a possibility but a necessity for their relationship to be real. That’s not just bad media analysis—it’s the kind of thinking that asexual people constantly have to push back against in fandom and in real life.

The post even goes as far as saying that Will and Hannibal are "deeply sexual, intensely erotic figures" and that people "projecting" asexuality onto them are "distorting" canon. That kind of language isn’t subtle. It frames asexuality as a lesser, invalid reading while treating sex as the default, superior interpretation. It directly suggests that people who read these characters as ace are only doing it because of their own personal issues with sex. That is blatant acephobia, and it's part of a larger pattern in fandom where ace readings are treated as something that must be defended, while sexual ones are accepted without question.

Even beyond the acephobia, the post is hypocritical. If Hannibal is a show that relies on symbolism and metaphor, then an asexual interpretation is just as valid as a sexual one. You can’t say, "The show never explicitly confirms they had sex, but it’s obvious through implication" while simultaneously saying, "An ace reading is wrong because it’s not explicitly confirmed." That’s not how this works.

Will’s love for Hannibal was deep, overwhelming, and life-altering, but there is nothing in the show that suggests it was sexual. His only physical relationships were with women. And the fact that people feel so threatened by ace readings that they have to act like they’re distorting canon should really make them reflect on why they’re so desperate to erase non-sexual narratives.

At the end of the day, love is not inherently sexual. Intimacy does not require sex. And people need to stop acting like ace interpretations are "forcing" something onto a character while treating their own assumptions as undeniable truth.

Too often it's still expect he changes his mind once they dance too closely or for too many songs or end up making out somewhere off the side to the dance floor. He’s accepted that he has to deal with that if he doesn’t want to give up on flirting and being physically affectionate with people. But that he’s now met with expectations on someone else’s behalf for what he does with them? He hates it. It’s none of Barty’s or Evan’s or anyone’s business when or why not James is going to have sex. “It’s alright,” he says, and his voice comes out colder than he expected, the words clipped, “We can skip the threatening part. I can fill in the missing pieces perfectly by myself.”

A/N: My first thought was pain. Apologies.

It was supposed to be a good night. You sought, you found, you looted which meant a warm place to sleep, plenty of food and celebratory atmosphere. Astarion had even gotten his hands on wine he wouldn’t turn his nose at. Everything was perfect, until a new bard began to play.

The second you heard his voice, your hair stood on end. Hoping against hope it was just your imagination, you turned your attention to the performance. A familiar half-elf took center stage, armed with a lyre and devastating smile; Ronan.

Your whole body froze on the spot as old feelings rushed back to you, a mixture of shame, anxiety and the sensation of being so utterly small.

“My love? Are you alright?”

You blinked, realizing Astarion was standing next to you, concern clear in his eyes.

“Yes,” you said, automatically. “Just, taken by surprise is all.”

He frowned, unconvinced before following your eye line to the stage.

“Do you know him?” he asked.

“I, ah…yes,” you said, your hands starting to shake. “We used to be…together. It was a long time ago.”

There was no point in lying, but Gods why did you have to have this conversation now? And why were you acting like this? It had been years. You had moved on.

Your thoughts were interrupted as Astarion reached out, slipping his arm around your waist and pulling you to his side.

The effect was instantaneous. Whatever tension your body held melted away. The speed of your heart slowed. The scent of rosemary filled your lungs and you remembered where you were, safe and sound.

He pressed a kiss on top of your head, taking a deep breath of his own.

“Did he hurt you?” he asked.

You shook your head. “No, nothing like that. He didn’t do anything on purpose.”

Astarion’s grip on your tightened ever so slightly. You didn’t need to look up to know he was staring daggers across the room. His hold on you was likely the only thing keeping Ronan’s neck out of his teeth.

“Meaning?”

“He never forced me to do anything,” you assured, trying to remain calm for both your sakes. “I always said yes. Being intimate is what you’re supposed to do when you’re in a caring adult relationship. He wasn’t abusive or cruel, so there was no reason for me to say no…even when I didn’t really want to.”

“That’s reason enough,” Astarion said, firmly.

“I know that now,” you amended. “At the time though, it didn’t feel good enough. We had more than one argument on the subject. Eventually though, I came to the conclusion that, if it weren’t for the feeling of obligation, I never would have said yes in the first place. He wasn’t happy about that and we ended things.”

“Less than amicably I imagine.”

You had to laugh. “Understatement.”

Astarion remained silent for a long moment, his fingers rubbing absent minded circles into your skin.

“Explain to me then, how you can confess all that and still claim he didn’t hurt you.”

Something hard twisted inside your chest, as if he had pressed his finger right into the tear of an old wound. “I wasn’t as if he were holding me at knife point,” you said, feeling the need to defend yourself. “Like I said, I didn’t know saying a blanket no was even an option. Sex is well…expected at a certain point. I can hardly blame him for not questioning the script society had laid out. He just–”

“Made you believe you needed an excuse,” he finished.

Your lips parted, ready to argue, but you found yourself unable to think of anything. Fresh shame rose inside you, but you couldn’t for the life of you name its source. For defending him? For not leaving sooner? For even thinking that your pain was worthy of acknowledgement? All of it swirled together until you became sick to your stomach.

Astarion’s eyes softened, as he pulled you into a proper embrace allowing you to hide your face in his neck. You weren’t going to cry. Not here. Not now.

“I’m sorry,” you said, unsure of what else to say.

“Don’t be,” he said, softly. “It’s not a competition, you know.”

Your instinct was to argue. There was still a guilt you felt at having him hold you like this, as if your experience were in any way comparable to his; but, that wasn’t the point. You had been hurt and he wasn’t going to let you pretend you hadn’t. If you didn’t already love him before, this would have sealed it.

You pulled away, feeling your ability to speak come back to you, just in time to catch his expression shift into something hard and dangerous.

You turned in the direction of his gaze, your own stomach turning as you and Ronan made eye contact. He was coming right for you.

Astarion’s whole body went rigid. Instinctively you grabbed his wrist, keeping him from going to the dagger on his belt.

“Don’t,” you hissed.

The clear and present fury in his eyes, cooled at your warning, enough to let you know he wasn’t going to kill Ronan; at least, not right away.

Ronan, somehow, remained oblivious to all of this, his focus seemingly all on you.

“Well, isn’t this a small world?” he said, greeting you with a disarming smile. “You’re looking good. Who's your friend?”

Your lips pressed into a fine line. Either he was an idiot or being purposefully obtuse. Both ground down on your nerves.

“It’s nice to see you too,” you said. “Ronan, this is my partner, Astarion. Astarion this is–”

“The ex,” he concluded. “Charmed, I’m sure.”

Whatever confident facade Ronan started the conversation with faltered slightly at Astarion’s bold dismissal.

“And really darling, I thought we discussed this,” Astarion continued. “Partner always requires unnecessary explanation. I stand by "lover”, it suits us much better.“

You held back a smile. You had discussed this, at length. Your impression, however, had been that he liked the air of mystery the title "partner” provided. Something about leaving people guessing whether you were partners in business, crime or romance. Apparently, current company required something a bit more obvious.

“Lover?” Ronan questioned, his brow rising. “Changed your mind about a few things then?”

“Not even a little,” you said, coolly. “What do you want?”

He raised his hands up in surrender, his expression a parody of innocence.

“I was simply intending to say hello and catch up. No need to be frigid, but I suppose some things don’t change. Best of luck to you, partner, they’ve got their legs locked tighter than a counting house vault.”

Rage flashed across Astarion’s features as he took a step forward, his body acting as a shield between you and Ronan.

“Would you mind repeating that?” he said, his voice low and full of teeth.

Ronan’s eyes widened slightly, his mouth falling open. You just knew he was about to say something stupid.

“Astarion,” you warned.

He glanced back towards you, his expression intense, but not unreasonable. You knew then, all you had to do was say the word and Ronan would be reduced to nothing but a bag of blood. It was tempting, but not worth it. At least, not worth it while in public with countless eye witnesses.

You shook your head.

He nodded in understanding and turned back to Ronan, his lips parting in an amicable smile.

“It seems you get to survive that comment,” he said, cheerfully. “I suggest you don’t take such mercy for granted. Now, run along.”

Ronan didn’t need telling twice as he shot you one last bewildered look before making his exit.

The second he was out of sight Astarion turned all his focus back to you.

“You’re sure you don’t want me to kill him?” he offered.

You had to smile. “Waste of an evening.”

He considered that, nodding his head from side to side. “I suppose. Still, a little nibble just to scare him wouldn’t hurt anyone. At least, not much.”

“I think you scared him well enough,” you laughed. “Besides, I’m selfish at heart. I want you here, with me, for the rest of the night. No more distractions.”

Astarion grinned, pulling you back into his arms. “If it’s me you want, my love, it’s me you shall have.”

And there he stayed, keeping you safe in the present with the promise of more in the future. The past could not be undone and would no doubt follow you in small and big ways for the rest of your life. The difference was, you had somebody who understood and loved you enough to carry some of the weight. It was more than anyone could hope for and he was yours.

Hi, i've read some of your posts about Rick Riordan's representation characters...i would like to know your thoughts on his queer repr and Solangelo

Hey there! Thank you so much for the ask! :D

So first things first: Solangelo.

I am completely against solangelo.

Will's entry in Nico's life was extremely jarring. If I remember correctly, Will came up to Nico at the end of BoO and said something about helping birth Mellie's child and asked him to touch his hands. Fast-forward to some mere months and they're dating. That's it. There's no "middle fluff" or development whatsoever. Plus, Will isn't even a character we know personally. He's appeared only in a few scenes in PJO, and this does not make him a good candidate for a relationship with one of the only complex characters in the series. Either you develop his personality, provide something other than "Nico's sunshine boyfriend" or give some actual good friends - to - lovers or something like that. I mean Nico's basically dating a dummy at this point.

This brings me to my next point. Will has no canon personality at all. Like I've mentioned before, his characteristics are completely fanon. It is possible that between the release of BoO and ToA, Riordan got a little... too involved with fanfiction and decided to give Will a Frankenstein mixture of every Will character I've ever read in fanfiction - yes, including the bad ones. The character hasn't been developed organically at all, and we don't know enough about him to root for his and Nico's relationship! This is not a very immersive experience.

Nico is a very complex character. And like I've proved before, Riordan loves to create complex characters and then "dress them down" (so to speak). He does not understand his own complex characters. This is important to mention because Nico dating Will completely tears down both Nico's and Will's development arcs.

Will is never fully expounded upon as a character. Let's talk about Nico for a second now. Nico is one of my most favourite characters in the entire series. He's highly complex, and there's just so many layers to him as a person - and I love dissecting him. He has realistic flaws and realistic development. When Riordan paired up Will and Nico, he completely ruined Nico. A big part of Nico's arc at that time was getting over Percy, accepting that he's gay and he can be happy and accepted in the world, plus (added as a long shot but still present) healing from the trauma he suffered in Tartarus and being in Camp Jupiter, shadow-travelling for so long, his aversion to Camp Half-Blood and still (yes, still - it was never fully developed in BoTL) getting over the death of his sister, and physical trauma as well. There's more, but this is getting too long anyway. He has enough on his plate. It doesn't make sense for Nico to just ignore all of this and jump straight into dating.

I am sorry to say this but Riordan and by proxy most of his fanbase seem to think that a character's wounds seem to get healed by slapping on the band-aid of a a half-assed relationship. So many relationships are going wonky in the fandom and the characters in them would work infinitely better without being tied down in that manner. It's actually disgusting - the amount of acephobia and arophobia in the books, or just the general amount of raving after being in relationships. The point I'm trying to make with this is that Nico does not need a boyfriend - or a partner, really. What he needs is to find himself. Right now he actually feels a lot like Eleven from Stranger Things. Both haven't experienced any normal human childhood, both are way out of touch and are highly traumatized by the harmful situations they are put into, and both don't need the relationship they are thrust into. Let them breathe and grow on their own.

Last point on this, I promise. Yes, I've read the entire ToA and a few chapters of TSaTS. Nico is just being promoted as the emo-boyfriend of sunshine guy, which - have I mentioned I completely hate? It's disgusting. Plus not only this, to expand on the previous point, he's suffered a lot of trauma. A normal human reaction would be to step away from the demigod world, heal a little bit, go to school, basically be a normal human being. Poor guy's suffered so much. I think he deserves this break. This guy needs to get accustomed to the modern world - and you know what, this is getting too long. Anyway. The normal human reaction would be to heal, grow up, find a boyfriend in the mortal world. I've mentioned Valdez as a potential partner, and yes I do agree but this post is about me being against solangelo, not promoting other ships.

Ah yes, now for the infamous rr queer rep. Where do we start?

Let's start with the most important gay character and my personal favorite: Nico di Angelo. The coming out scene. That was horrible and I hated it, and you get why. No one who's queer thinks that's a comforting way to come out - which is a deeply personal thing. Plus not only this, he's always treated like the gay dude who you can torture and get away with. I won't give examples else it will get too long, but you get the general point, if you've read the series. It might not have been written as that, but it's a coincidence nonetheless and a bad one at that. It doesn't promote "accepting of LGBTQ" much and antagonizes the community in the way that we now see gay people only as tortured, traumatized little beans. No. Give me the happy gays. Give me the sad gays. Give me the normal, non-antagonized gays. Just don't give me too many of the tortured, depressed gays.

Piper. Piper's sexuality wasn't a good decision, and again, there was no development. It was just a one chapter worth of dialogue exchanged on moving away from Jason and dating Shel. Plus this was bad representation in the way that Piper was both a POC and LGBTQ. With this coincidence, we promote the stereotype that POCs don't deserve to find love in a white American boy (yes I know how this sounds, but that's just society, my gal). POC for some reason get highly radicalized, as if all of us should be LGBTQ, and none of us are capable of finding something that doesn't get us overly criticised and if Riordan actually wanted to value Piper, he wouldn't have made her bi. Don't get me wrong, I love Piper and I myself am part of LGBTQ but I really don't appreciate how her arc pans out, what with giving up Jason for another POC/radical femme. I hope I'm not rambling.

The Hunters of Artemis. Dude at this point just put misandry instead of typing out every scene with them in it. Artemis was a virgin goddess, but that did not mean she hated men. This is an insult to Greek culture. She loved her brother and even had a lot of close male companions. Plus I think Rick forgot lesbians exist with the vow. Plus can we stop putting every aro/ace character in HoA? As an aro/ace person myself, it's very much so insulting to be treated like "if you don't get paired up as a couple you get thrusted into the immortal, men-hating, romance-hating secret super spy hunting club". I hope you get my point here. It was a horrible decision with Reyna and Thalia. Plus I think in a few myths Artemis did in fact have lovers in women, but I won't go there.

Holy shit this is getting too long. I actually don't mind Magnus Chase being pan, that was again a good decision but bad development. I also hate Alex Fierro's rep as a genderfluid person.

Not gonna lie, blitzstone was actually cute. I'm pretty sure it was the only ship I was rooting for throughout the series. But don't trust me on this, I barely remember anything from Magnus Chase lol. Only vibes, no thoughts.

I don't really remember any other things at the tip of my tongue right now, but if I do want to add some points, I'll edit this post. Anyway this is getting too long. My main fight with the queer rep is that everything felt like Riordan was putting in minimal effort to make everyone feel included, and for some reason we are all so starved of queer rep that anything random can make us happy. No. It needs more time, more care, more effort. Everything just felt... wrong in a way that I can't convey.

Imagine if instead of calling MC during post-nut clarity, Ian went to reddit to ask for advice? (Well, the bland-name legally-distinct version of reddit in this universe.)

Of course the comments would rip him apart and there'd be more crying, but it's kind of interesting to imagine the post he might've wrote.

For example, imagine the way Ian would describe MC in the post to other people. Would he try to justify what he did because the relationship was rocky, or would he be mostly bemoaning that he has no idea why he did it? Would he talk up MC's good qualities or slip in a lot of things that bugged him that he never brought up? What little unspoken biases would come out during the post?

I think the tone of the post would be mostly focused on how much Ian is hurting, as it is him venting to a bunch of internet strangers. He focuses on how terrible a person he feels he is, and how much he fears what's going to happen when MC finds out and how this might destroy their relationship. He just can't lose them! He can't!

I like to think Ian would have the state of mind to at least use a throwaway account and aliases for himself and others he mentions in the post. However, if MC is the type to visit those forums often, maybe even introduced Ian to them in the first place or vice-versa, it's possible MC recognizes enough details to realizes it's about them. Maybe it could even go viral and they find out about the post listening to a reading on podcast or video site.

Using my MC Alice as an example, I can imagine Ian talking about her weight and how he totally loves her in spite of how overweight she is, and she's so cute and kind. But the affair partner looked like she stepped out of a porn ecchi manga - big boobs, big butt, tiny waist, long trim legs, and incredibly flirtatious and sexually charged.

On that note, Content Warning for fatphobia, acephobia, and internalized religious-based shame!

Oh Ian had no idea it was flirting at first, he swears, but it felt so good. He never really felt like Alice really saw him as attractive since she's asexual, and she isn't all that enthusiastic about sex. It's another subconscious bias slipping through to justify himself and get sympathy despite the horrendous thing he did.

The sex with the affair partner was mind blowing, but once it was over Ian realized what he had done and felt just so awful. The affair partner tried to reassure him that it was only natural he found her more attractive (because people who tempt others to cheat in a relationship love to stroke their egos). No one has to know and they can keep having fun~

Naturally taking the affair partner takes snipes at Alice. She had done so in the past that Ian had called out in so much he offered feeble protests that Alice had good points too, while trying hard not to upset his new "friend." The comments usually were so innocuous he felt like he was overthinking it, but in the situation they were overt and insulting and he snapped at the affair partner in that moment.

Now Ian feels bad about that too since affair partner is telling him he overreacted. She tried to reassure him that everybody in a long distance relationships cheats. In fact, Alice was probably cheating on him right now. Anyone who says they're ace - in her opinion - are just lying to seem more "righteous" than they are and asexuality doesn't actually exist. Affair partner's comment that there must be somebody desperate enough to want to fuck a fat girl was what set Ian off.

Yes, my version of the affair partner is complete scum. I mean, people who tempt others to cheat tend to only care about making themselves feel superior to someone else.

The post online is a lot of word vomit with a token attempt to clean up spelling and grammar errors. Ian just keeps crying and is desperate for anyone online to tell him how he can make it up to Alice and save their relationship. He doesn't want to end the friendship with affair partner either since he knows it's his fault this happened, because he just couldn't control himself. All that internalized shame for his sexual urges bubbling to the surface. He knows he fucked up and he just wants to know how to atone for his sins.

Of course when describing Alice before describing the affair partner, Ian mentions their good points. Alice is so kind, even overtly so, holding him whenever he cried, always reaching out to others, being more motherly than his own mom. She's sweet and kind like that to everyone, and everyone loves her. She's everything he could ever want and she satisfied him in bed.

Man, imagine if Ian intended to write that Alice is everything he wanted in a partner, only to accidentally use the alias he made up for the affair partner instead of the one he used for Alice.

I mean, easy mistake to make, right? He's using fake names he just made up on the spot. Of course he's going to mix them up. He even insists as such when a comment calls him out for it before he can fix it in an edit. It was just a typo!

Ian admits that he felt guilty about subjecting Alice to his sexual urges. He knows sexual urges are sinful. She's asexual and doesn't really initiate sex but is always eager to please him anyway. She's always been like an angel to him and to everyone. Sex with her sometimes made him feel like a filthy sinner like he was desecrating something too pure and good for this world in the name of his shameful urges.

The affair partner though... Ian admits she's exciting, thrilling, so open in discussing sex like it's no big deal. She flaunts her body, confident in a way Alice isn't. The two of them are like night and day. When he had sex with the affair partner he didn't feel like he was defiling an angel. He admits he doesn't know what he was thinking, but it was the most intense, raw, and amazing sex he's ever had.

Which makes Ian feel even more like absolute shit for enjoying it so much.

Perhaps the allure Ian felt, aside from the physical attraction, was that he didn't feel like he was dragging someone else down. They were both filthy sinners acting like animals, only focusing on the pleasure and not thinking about consequences. He didn't think about the future, or about guilt and shame... at least not until after the post-nut clarity hits.

Even if Ian had this irrational feeling that sex with Alice was wrong, he knows it's wrong with the affair partner. In the afterglow, cuddling with Alice made him feel safe, accepted, loved, and like what they experienced wasn't as dirty and sinful as he felt. The aftercare soothed his worries and made him feel like what they had was actually pure and good and full of love.

The afterglow with the affair partner felt wretched. Ian immediately wanted to throw up. It was all wrong. He still can't understand why he got caught up in it like he did when he knows it's wrong... but in the moment it felt so good.

Another piece of advice Ian requests of the people of the forum is how to stop thinking about the sex he had with the affair partner so that he never gets tempted again. All he wants is to be happy with Alice, his partner, the woman he wanted to marry since they were kids!

The comments, naturally, tear Ian apart, but some scumbags support him, insulting Alice due to his description of her and saying what he did was only to be expected. If she wanted to keep him, she should've tried harder and lost weight.

While Ian doesn't respond to every comment, he responds to many. To those raking him over the coals, you can practically see the tears spilling onto the phone screen as he types that he knows he's a piece of shit, but he came here to get advice on how to fix things! Alice is the only one he wants to be with! He never wanted this to happen!

Ian makes an edit to the post in response to the scumbags, pleading with people not to insult Alice. He tries to protect her honor, talks even more about so many good qualities about her, and how these people don't even know her or understand!

He also insists this post isn't rage bait or farming for attention.

Ian also slips in that he knows Alice would forgive him even if he told her, since she's just that kind and forgiving of a person, but she would be crushed. She's already put up with so much over the years and still loves him. He can't handle what this will do to her. He doesn't want to break her heart over something so selfish and vile. He can't believe he did something so stupid, but he just wants to know how to fix this without hurting her.

In a way, Ian irrationally fears that he's now just like these scumbags in the comments due to his cheating. The things they say about her... did he subconsciously think them? Is he really such a horrible person? The ones trying to justify what he did are so vile, and the rest are condemning him and hoping that Alice dumps him.

Ian was hoping to get advice, and he does, a little. There are some people in the comments that take a more soft approach to chastising him. In the end, their encouragement is just confess and go to couple's therapy.

Ian resisted going to therapy all this time because of hearing negative things about it, how pointless it is (mainly from his mother), but he decides that's the best shot they have. He'll do anything to fix this now.

Ultimately, the comments make him fear telling Alice all the more given how much hatred he got for his post.

Ian does post updates in the aftermath. First that he broke down and told Alice. She forgave him and they're going to try and make it work. He doesn't specify how, just that they talked a lot and many tears were shed. Though he got so much hate online, some of the advice did seem to help, so he's back to vent more and get more advice. He'll suffer the hate if it means atoning for his sins.

Oh there's also a brief mention of Alice going to the hospital for a while, but Ian mostly focuses on how awful he feels and how it must be his fault, without going into details out of respect for her privacy.

Then there'd be another update from Ian later on about how Alice ended things, and he's devastated. He was so confused by it, as if it came out of the blue. They were working on fixing things! He thought things would get better, but then she told him that she just couldn't do it anymore right now. She needs some space.

Ian goes into self-pitying mode, knowing it's his fault and he messed up, but he thought things were going to be okay. What does he do now? How does he fix things? What did he mess up after things seemed to be getting better?

Then an edit is thrown in that Ian found out Alice's friends apparently talked her into breaking up with him. She still says she needs space to think before they can try again. Ian can't blame them given all the comments roasting him, but he was trying! He really was! How can he prove that?

At this point the comments are just all telling Ian to leave Alice alone and let her move on. It's over. Even the more empathetic posters don't have advice for him this time.

Hmm... Ian might not have gone to a forum for advice right after cheating in Sunshine in Hell, but I like the idea that he sought out advice after he confessed what he did to Alice. He might've even been a regular poster to online forums for advice anonymously in the past.

Of course if Alice stumbled across the post and realized it was Ian who made it, it'd make her feel even more violated than before. She'd be the type to read way too much into how Ian talked about her and the affair partner, particularly when people in the comments called him out for how he phrased certain things.

If nothing else, it'd make Alice feel more certain that Ian wouldn't be happy in a relationship with her in the long term. It'd also tear her apart to hear in his own words just how much he's suffering.

The post would haunt Alice at the back of her mind, the hate comments and Ian's little offhand remarks in the posts picking at her insecurities.

Naturally, Alice would avoid those forums for a while, as well as anyplace else Ian might be lurking online. Even posts that seem sort of similar give her this feeling of paranoia that it might be him vague posting about her again. Finally, she decides to just take a break from the internet as much as humanly possible, including socials.

Wow, this little off the wall what if scenario grew into something much bigger than anticipated. I hope you all enjoyed this idea, as well as how I applied it to Alice and Ian's relationship. If you did, perhaps consider what sort of post Ian might make about his relationship with your MC and the fallout from that. Have fun!

hi, hello!! i absolutely adore your deep dive series into the aaa episodes, and i was wondering if you could/would feel like expanding further into agatha’s guilt towards wanda and all the emotion she shows in the first episode, when she sees wanda’s corpse? the way agnes seems to value human life is especially interesting to me, considering how much agatha has killed (and i understand agnes is a character in what’s supposed to be a very stereotypical detective series, but i remember how you said agnes is in some ways agatha at her most transparent). anyways, i thought i’d try to pick your brain a little more on the subject, because your takes are very interesting to me!

Hi hello to you, thank you for stopping by! And also thank you for your interesting question, consider my brain officially picked. I'm gonna ramble QUITE a bit because I want to talk about Agatha and misogyny first (as requested by @leoleolovesdc ) but hold in there, I'll get to wanda too.

To get to the point directly, I think that Agatha's actions are steeped in internalized misogyny, and I think it's something she inherited from her mother and the salemites. It's actually pretty common for marginalized communities or individuals to turn against their own and replicate the patterns of the oppressor, looking to ease their self-hatred or for outside acceptance or a sense of control. Think for example about super conservative wives voting against their best interests, think about all the homophobia and biphobia and transphobia and acephobia (etcetera etcetera ad infinitum) in the queer community.

The persecution of witches was essentially a war on a kind of womanhood that went against imposed gender norms. Witches (in the marvel universe and in real life) were more often than not women who lived independently, who knew herbs, who didn't marry, who worked as midwives etc. And talking about the salemites specifically and the way they treated Agatha: they did to Agatha what the external world did to them, they replicated a pattern. They targeted the odd one out, the woman in their group who was the most different, and called her evil and essentially tried to burn her at the stake.

We don't know a thing about evanora, but I would BET that a lot of her hatred stems from her own internalized misogyny / agatha being born female, and I honestly wonder if Agatha would have found it harder to love a daughter the same way she does Nicky or Billy, without any of her internalized bias kicking in. Since she was a kid Agatha had been hurt and persecuted by other witches, she's pretty much wired to mistrust and hate them. And it gets even more muddled and complicated because she hates witches but loves witchcraft, she hates women but is sexually and romantically attracted to them. She yearns to belong, but she ends up torturing and killing her own community. She allies with people like that disgusting prick who violated Jen.

Enter Wanda, who is essentially Agatha 2.0: she was born doomed by the narrative or, to say it like evanora, she was born evil. Evanora would have had a FIELD DAY with Wanda. The Scarlet Witch? The destroyer of universes? She would have tried to kill her on the spot. There is A LOT Agatha instinctively hates in Wanda, she's a woman, she's a witch, she's dangerous. Agatha does what the salemites did to her and what men did to witches: she replicates a pattern. She punishes Wanda for being too alone and too different and complicated and scary. And yes Agatha is doing it to get her hands on chaos magic and all that comes with that, but this is all the baggage she brings in.

There's the other side of the coin: Agatha hates women and witches, Agatha loves women and witches, and Agatha hates and loves Wanda. She's been essentially killing and running away for the past two centuries, refusing to dwell on the consequences of her actions, but we know that she is no unfeeling psychopath, that's just a role she plays. We know all her actions weigh on her. With Wanda that sense of guilt is even stronger because Wanda is not a random witch she kills and abandons in the woods, she has to live with her and witness all of Wanda's pain up close, how lonely she is, how scared she is, the grief of losing Pietro and Vision, it's all there to torment Agatha. She cannot be a child about it, she can't close her eyes and cover her ears and go lalala until it's over, she has to take it all in order to get what she wants. And what's worse, Wanda is so similar to her that Agatha can picture exactly what she's feeling down to her bones, that's empathy to the max. And she goes through with her plan and does horrible things to Wanda anyway.

Knowing Agatha like we know her now, I'm convinced that her guilt about Wanda is especially hard to deal with, but Agatha has always refused to deal with any of her inner struggles, so Wanda just goes on the pile together with all the painful and complicated feelings she's pointedly ignoring, and which are not haunting her at all, thank you very much!

Except when she's Agnes, because all the feeling are still there but she doesn't know where they come from. I'd say that more than transparent Agnes is unfiltered, she doesn't know she should censor her struggles like Agatha does. Based on Agnes, we can plainly see what the biggest issues on her Inner Pile of Shit and Sorrow are: grief over Nicky's loss, anger and yearning for Rio, extreme loneliness, and guilt over those she hurt, with a particular emphasis on Wanda.

Remus is panicking, just a bit. 

Maybe more than a bit.

He’s been dating Sirius for eight months, a relationship record for Remus. Embarrassingly long-held feelings for Sirius aside, Remus has never met anyone who was okay with the lack of kissing and sex that dating him entailed. Sirius has been nothing but accepting and even loving; he says he’s fine with not having sex, not kissing on the mouth, even with Remus not sleeping in the same bed some nights.

But Remus can’t stop thinking about New Year’s traditions, and expectations.

The whole kissing thing is just…gross. He can’t. He won’t. And a corner of his brain is adamant that Sirius wouldn’t want him to if he didn’t want to anyways.

James and Sirius rush in from the kitchen, balancing glasses of champagne. James joins Lily and Peter on the floor while Sirius nestles into Remus’s side on the couch, nudging their glasses into his hands. He wraps Remus up in his warm, strong arms and Remus relaxes, feeling the anxiety brewing in his chest lose a bit of its fizz.

“Hi, my Moony. What’s going on in that silly head of yours?”

Remus sighs. “I just, just—you know I can’t kiss you at midnight right? I can’t, it’s…icky and it makes me feel bad and it’s not fair for you to miss out because of me, you’re supposed to kiss the person you want to spend the year with and I can’t—”

Sirius squeezes him tighter, rocks him just a little. “Shh, baby. It’s okay.” His mouth is right by Remus’s ear, voice hardly above a whisper. “You’re being silly. I don’t need a kiss, I just need the year with you.”

Remus tips his head back to look at Sirius. “Promise?”

Sirius smiles at him fondly. “Promise.”

“Guys! It’s 11:59!” shouts Lily. Everyone leaps up and piles onto the couch, Sirius squishing even closer to Remus to make room for all five of them. Lily ends up on James’s lap.

When the countdown begins, they scream along, and when the clock turns to midnight they all cheer. Sirius leans in and presses his cheek against Remus’s with a satisfied sigh. “Happy New Year, Moons.”

Warmth creeps into his cheeks, and Remus is sure Sirius can feel it. They stay there until Remus has gathered the courage to turn to his boyfriend and gently kiss the top of his head. “Happy New Year, Pads.” Sirius looks up at him with a sleepy smile on his face, and Remus smiles back.

I'm a day late to ace visibility day but fuck it :) it was ace day yesterday and it's Jonmartin week so fuck it, I'm posting my take on ace Jon.

I think that when he first figured out his sexuality he felt rather pressured to uh,, perform his asexuality well. I guess he felt like he "wasn't allowed" or maybe that having sex would undermine his asexuality. Partly because of how insecure of a person he is and partly because of how RANCID acephobia can be. This is why Melanie said that Georgie said that Jon didn't do that sort of thing. At all(I'm paraphrasing).

I want to make it clear that this wasn't some torturous decision. He never felt like he was missing out on it, there was just this low level expectancy of, of not being allowed to have sex.

But as he becomes more confident in his own identity and orientation, he starts to realize that he wouldn't mind doing it with his loved one as long as they both wanted it.

For him sex is. okay. It isn't bad it isn't good it's just. Meh. There are better, much more productive and enjoyable ways of spending his time. When he and Martin finally do have sex it isn't about pleasure or about the act itself, for Jon it's about closeness and intimacy, it's about trusting someone and wanting to get to know them in as many ways as they let him.

It's also a way of doing something for Martin, making him happy in that way(not that Martin would be unhappy if they never had sex. He loves Jon for Jon and wants to be with him in whatever way Jon will let him).

Obviously they had to have a talk about it, what they liked, disliked, what was okay or not, they had to set boundaries. Jon, again, felt this pressure to perform well, he felt insecure that Martin was his first but he wasn't Martin's but they figured it out in the end :)
