Wei Wuxian isn't intending to snoop, exactly.
Or he is, because there's something off about the cold spring, but he doesn't think he's snooping about anything especially secret or important. He figures there's some sort of talismans or array in the spring or surrounding area, something that encourages the healing beyond cool rushing water. There's the buzzing of some sort of power, low enough that he's almost able to ignore it, except that he's made a name out of his ability to interpret and correct talismans in mid air.
He spends more time on that than even his swordfighting ability. Other people can fight as well as him. No one can use talismans like he can. He knows which skill it's more important for him to cultivate.
It means that the thing he can just feel nudging at his consciousness is probably impossible for anyone else to notice unless they're really looking for it. He's thinking about how funny Lan Qiren's face will be when he sticks his nose in another set of ancient Lan wards and isn't at all prepared for how applying cultivation energy just saw and stepping just right leads him to tumbling down the springs and spit out into an underground cave.
He sees the bunnies wearing little Lan ribbons first, which is adorable. The zither he notices when it nearly kills him.
He doesn't know how to leave and a couple more hits from that zither will leave him unconscious and then eventually dead.
"Hello!" he shouts. "Please, I don't mean to intrude, can you-"
Another wave of devestating energy that blasts through his body, leaving him sore and probably bleeding internally.
The bunnies are fine.
He feels really bad about this.
He scoops one of the bunnies into his arms and slips it's little forehead ribbon off and onto his wrist. He holds it to his chest, keeping his back to the zither and bracing himself. Maybe he can stop the energy from reaching the animal with his body.
He doesn't want to die but the little thing is so cute and helpless and it's not it's fault that Wei Wuxian fell into its cave.
The pain never comes and the bunny sits content and unharmed against his chest.
"Who are you?" a cool voice asks.
Wei Wuxian turns around to see a beautiful woman dressed in the robes of a Lan elder, her hand on the zither to still it.
"Uh, my name is Wei Wuxian," he says, giving an awkward bow. "I'm the visiting first disciple of the Jiang. Um, who are you? Sorry, I'm not good with faces and I don't remember you from the introduction ceremony."
Her expression doesn't change at all but he gets the impression that she's amused. "I am Lan Yi."
He stares, waiting to see if everything he knows about the Lan is about to be proven wrong and this is some sort of prank.
Her gaze stays steady.
There is only one Lan Yi - Lan An's granddaughter, who meddled with Yin Iron and died because of it. No other Lan was given her name so as to not curse them with their namesake's wrongs.
Well.
Fuck.

Oh ABSOLUTELY I can share some thoughts! Not quite a ficlet, not quite headcanons, about Aether and his infirmary "job" under the cut.
Aether likes the infirmary best in the middle of the night. When he first got summoned he ended up on night shifts--better for training according to Omega. A good way to be eased in.
Aether knows it can get chaotic any time of day. And that he's lucky that this infirmary is relatively low key. They're not juggling trauma after trauma. Instead it's a lot of flu outbreaks and broken bones and stitches. The occasional childbirth. The rare devestating injury. But for the most part, it's quiet. Especially at night. Aether feels at ease on a night shift. Espeically now that so much of his pack is off on tour and he's back here--he doesn't have to think about his empty bed if he's here. The part of him that hasn't gotten used to it yet can just pretend everyone else is still here--asleep. It's sad he knows, but he's doing what he can. He makes his rounds. Smiling warmly at the siblings who also work nights. He's the only quint ghoul on duty. It makes the infirmary feel like his. It's not something he ever though he'd want--but now...now it's good. Feels right. He goes from room to room, peeking his head in. Checking vitals of sleeping patients, smiling easily at the ones who are still awake. Slipping into their rooms and talking to them. Doctor questions and regular questions. Where they grew up. What brought them to the Abbey. What they do and who they are, all while he digs into himself to lessen their pain, or their fear, or their insomnia. Allowing them sleep. When everything is quiet, and there is no drama, no chaos, no blood. Aether sits at the nurses station and reads a book. Scrolls on his phone. Texts his packmates. Shooting Dew and Mountain messages asking about their show tonight, what the crowd was like, where they went to eat after. Are they sleeping on the bus? In an hotel? Mountain responds with words, answers to his questions. Dew just sends him pictures. One of the crowd just before he walked on stage. Another of his burger and beer after the show. And then him in his bunk, dimly lit, sticking his tongue out at Aether from hundreds of miles away. The time differences make it easier, the further they get from him the more he talks. Aurora sends him pictures of every strange attraction she begs to stop and see. Swiss complains about Dew. Rain complains about Swiss. Dew complains about Aeon. Cirrus swears she's going to strangle Mountain. It makes him feel like he's with them. It makes him miss them less. Sometimes Sunshine comes and sits with him. Either at the beginning of his shift--or the end. Sitting down in the chair next to him and resting her head on his shoulder and taking in the quiet sounds of the infirmary. Machines whiring. Soft snores and sleepy breathing. A muted cry of a very new baby from down the hall. Aether is grateful for her. For the company, and because without fail, whenever Sunny shows up, so does someone else.
A bleeding sibling. A sick cardinal. Sister Imperator herself with a headache so bad it could wake lucifer himself. And sometimes, a sibling who just wants to sit with Aether. To know him. Who claims a belly ache, or a sore throat, just to feel the touch of his quintessence. He's not sure why. Doesn't think his magic does anything special to humans, but Aether isn't stupid. He knows a fake illness when he sees one. And if he was Dew he'd tell them to shove off. He'd scold them. But he isn't Dew and he doesn't. Aether likes people--humanity especially. So even though he can smell the lie on them, he helps. Always.

Mitsuri Kanroji
She doesn't really wear heels unless she's going out somewhere
Mitsuri will wear heels if you take her to a club, a date, a restaurant, and any other nicer event
But honestly, she prefers running shoes!
They're convenient, comfortable, and they tend to match their outfits more often than not
Do not get me wrong, Mitsuri can definitely rock a pair of heels
I would say that the highest she can go is six inch heels and that's it
Anymore than that and she's wobbling
Mitsuri's favourite pair of heels is a knee high gladiator sandal that's all gold, and maube about 4-5 inches high?
It pairs lovely with her favourite dresses and skirts, especially when she's going out of her way to turn a few heads
I also think that she's the most graceful out of everyone here
Overall 9/10 she absolutely slays this

Obanai Iguro
He thinks it's stupid that he needs to clarify this at all
Can Obanai walk in heels? Without a doubt
Your next question should be if Obanai chooses to wear heels
And shockingly, he does
I think that Obanai will sometimes wear a two inch loafer heel just for some added height
Hella confident in them too, look at him go
Obanai will totally wear them to work, class, or anywhere he feels like putting on a little bit of effort into what he's wearing
I think on more fancier occasions, like a high end date or club, he might wear some pointed toe stilettos with a nice pair of slacks
Honestly he's not really one to exclude heels from his wardrobe, he's just weirded out by how fascinated people are on this topic

Tengen Uzui
Do I think Tengen can wear heels? I know for a fact he can
But I just think that he never does because he can never find any in his size
Poor guy
To be fair, this man is fucking huge
I even have problems finding boots that fit my calves, deep down in my heart I know that Tengen has it so much worse
Cause even if he manages to find something that fits his foot, it might not fit the rest of his leg
He's actyally really devestated about it
All he wants is a nice pair of pumps to match Hina, Suma and Makio
And maybe a pair of lobster claws...
3/10, a slay in theory but not in practice
I WILL GIVE HIM THIS, if he manages to pay for a custom pair of heels, he will probably rival with Mitsuri in who looks the best in heels

Sanemi Shinazugawa
He says he can walk in heels
But I assure you, he cannot
I think that Sanemi is lowkey intimidated by the results of the other Hashira on this list and now he's in too deep to back down
So when asked if he can wear heels, he will lie to your face
"Obviously, you think I'm gonna allow a pair of shoes to get the best of me?"
Sanemi, you've got a big storm coming
All his machoness goes away the second that he puts them on
Why is he walking with his knees out...
He's not even wearing stilettos, no
Sanemi's wearing three inch cork wedges
They don't really suit his style so he'll never go out of his way to wear them
I think after embarassing himself like this, he's never going to want to learn how to walk in them

Shinobu Kocho
Can absolutely strut in six inch heels no problem
I think that Shinobu wears heels often, especially if she's going to be out in public where she is certain she's going to encounter someone she knows
But I don't think she enjoys wearing them
In some way I think Shinobu wears heels on a semi-daily basis to compensate for her short stature
She wants to be on equal standing with others and in a way, this is her way fo tring to achieve that
Two inch boots aren't going to stop her from being taken seriously
She does try to find some light in her circimustance though
Her favourite pair are these cute mary janes, and she has another pair with a platform sole
So even if you see her wearing heels, please don't mistake that she finds them powerful to wear
It's more of a social thing really

Kyojuro Rengoku
I am going to say this as nicely as I can
Please be patient with him, he's learning T_T
He can still get to where he needs to go, he just looks a little unstable???
Kyojuro would really appreciate if you held his hand a little
Though I will say, he is enthusiastic about learning!
In a few months he can probably walk just fine in them
I don't think that he would wear them to work or on a date, but he might if he's going to a particular event where you try to look better than usual
Like a high end club or exclusive event, he'll probably wear something classy
I think his go to is wither a pair of corset heels or high blocks
Obanai is lowkey jealous because Kyojuro doesn't really need the extra hight

Giyu Tomioka
My first instinct was to immediately put Giyu on the 'Not Allowed' list
A hunch just told me that he would somehow cause more trouble if he wore any
But I considered it further and came to this conlcusion
Giyu can and will walk in heels, just nothing above three inches
He tried walking in four inch platforms and he was nearly tripping every two minutes
And if Tengen sees him exiting his apartment wearing them again he will not hesitate to put those things back where they came from
Giyu does like wearing heels though, even if he's not allowed to wear very high ones
Only wears them if he's going to a club though
His favourite pair is a professional looking pair of blue, beige and black slingbacks with a three inch heel
5/10, but he's walking on thin ice

Gyomei Himejima
I don't think that Gyomei could walk in heels smoothly, but he can certainly get from point A to B
He just can't do it gracefully
If Gyomei walks in heels, he won't ever admit that he's struggling and he'll insist that he's walking just fine
But he has his arms outstretched like he's walking on a tightrope
It's honestly just not his thing, and I don't think he would be able to incorporate it with his current wardrobe
Even if he had the desire to learn, I think he would hear the struggle that Tengen's going through and just give up
He already has to go on a lengthy search to find anything to fit him regularly, let alone a pair of heels
2/10 I can't say I would recommend this for him, no

You know those pictures of kids wearing their mom's heels?
And their foot barely fits in the shoe?
And they just look so awkwardly out of place?

Poor baby
I think he has some growing to do before he's going to learn how to walk in them
But Muichiro definitely wants to learn!
Given how his sense of style is usually baggy or loose fitting clothes, I can see him maybe going to Obanai for style advice in the future
Probably nothing high or flashy either, just probably a pair of classy heeled boots
I just don't think it's for him right now, at his current stature
Muichiro just looks a little bit out of place in them right now though...

i don't know if you know this but what they're chanting during the game (龙阳之好 — meaning longyang's interest) is basically a phrase that refers to gay relationships. this has to be intentional. right. right. right. anyways if you'd like you can learn more about lord longyang in this brief wikipedia page
cheng xiaoshi's basketball flashback thing with lu guang is peak queer cinema. casually called him his partner and made a profound metaphor on trust on the spot. no one is doing it like him. icon
the captain's (i think his name was hong bin??) accent changes drastically when he's around his family — i don't live in china so i can't pinpoint which region it's from, but just think of it as the chinese equivalent of a country accent. skfjd just thought that was a cute detail
embarrassing but for like the tiniest moment but with the dramatic sunlight and the gentle music i fr thought that implied that hong bin was chen xiao's first love... my stupidity knows no bounds

Who are your fav persona 3 people!!!
[cracks knuckles] I'm glad you asked
So! I don't actively /dislike/ anyone in the p3 cast, but some of them definitely speak to me more than others:
First things first: Ryoji. Love that guy. He's so silly. And so tragic. And he makes me sad. (Like holy SHIT I wasn't expecting a reprise of his song in the stage play on December 31st but it TOOK ME OUT) (also Ryomina my love)
The whole Shinji, Ken, and Akihiko trio ALSO lives in my head rent free... two idiots and their son. love them. I've been desperately scouring for Akishinji content and between that, Ryomina, and Shuake, I've come to realise that my shipping habits seem to boil down to "doomed yaoi" HAHA
More on Ken, I have a LOT of thoughts about how he and Akechi would interact and (likely) get along. Whether that be in the p5 era or a situation a la Throw Away Your Mask. (Or, something I've yet to find: Akechi with no time travel shenanigins getting in on the p3 plot. You can bet THAT'S a longfic idea I've got rattling around) (Also the half-brothers headcanon is super fun. Especially when combined with Futago siblings. Congratulations, Shido! All your kids are persona users, and they all hate you! :D)
Aigis! She's just. Infinitely charming. She'll say something that will absolutely take me out and then turn around and say something devestating HAHA. I also think that her and Ryoji's social link and linked episodes respectively do a LOT of thematic work in the story. Death himself and the girl that can't die, both trying to figure out how to live (y'all that shit's METAL)
Strega are so interesting to me... I don't think they're perfect villains- I think their motivation is underexplored and a bit choppy, but ASIDE from that, I really like all three of them as characters. Idk why Jin is so funny to me LMAO he's so in love with Takaya and Takaya's just like "k. met your quota yet?" (But, also, some of Takaya's lines definitely imply that he cares about Jin too, but doesn't let himself acknowledge that at all due to his whole "attachments are weakness" shtick, another thematic point to contest his ideology, as he is actively denying himself happiness in pursuit of some idea of salvation)
Chidori- I like her well enough. Some of her lines really did make me smile, but I think she's another case of "underdeveloped" (I actually read Throw Away Your Mask before I played p3r, so that fic did a lot of the heavy lifting for my like of Chidori (and, by extension, Jundori) i think)
Which leads nicely into: Junpei! He's da man. Nuff' said. HAHA if you can't tell, I love Junpei. Awkward dudebro stuff aside (though it's occasionally part of his charm), I really love his development and personality in general. I really love how all the "bro" characters across the modern three persona games, while fulfilling the same archetype, are all distinct in personality and motivation and I love them ALL
Mitsuru is quite interesting to me, but I think she might be a case of "I wish her social link was about something else". Personal preference of course, but I kind of wish that it focused more on this intense guilt she seems to have for things that a) weren't her fault, and b) happened when she was 7 or younger. THAT is a super interesting mindset to explore, imo, though I did find her social ineptitude charming haha
Yukari... I think that she might grow on me more later. I can feel it in my bones. I suppose I'll find out with The Answer dlc! I know broadly what happens in it, but I haven't actually seem a playthrough of it, nor do I really know what happens to all the characters. I think my opinion of Yukari might have been tainted slightly by everyone having such strong opinions HAHA- I definitely like her, but I don't think she's clicked just yet. (I did really like her social link, though!) (also Yukamitsu I love Yukamitsu. The lesbians aren't doomed! Good for them)
Okay this is going to upset some people probably but Koromaru isn't really much of a character and I keep forgetting about him LMAO. uh. he's a good boy?
Fuuka... I really think that she's just underdeveloped. Her social link didn't really do her any favours in my eyes (I'm SO glad that atlus cut the "girl learns to cook" social link in p5 HAHA i really didn't like it with Yukiko either) Her social link obviously isn't just the cooking shenanigins, but it overshadows the bits of character growth that happen intermittently. I think that her SL really would have benefitted from being more about her love of electronics, if anything, since that isn't explored AT ALL and is more a plot device than a character trait. (Plus, the root of all her self-esteem issues go unadressed, which I think would have been a good character beat otherwise) (In saying this I think Fuuka/Natsuki is very cute. The lesbians stay winning in p3)
Makoto/Minato! Honestly, I was pretty neutral towards him from the majority of the fics I had read before playing p3r. I really like his characterisation in Throw Away Your Mask and The Twilight Wants Him Back, but those had been outliers in my mind. I started liking him more and more after playing p3r, and NOW, after having watched 1/4 of the p3 movies- oh boy. boy oh boy. I really like him now HAHA. Having his apathy actually effect his realtionships with SEES early on is super interesting and I love when it's done. (plus, I think Yukari hating him at first really strengthens their friendship later on)
Uh this post is already super long so for all the other plot-relavant characters and confidants I'm just gonna say "it's a secret" and melt into a bush or something
(tysm for the ask! You can tell I was waiting for an excuse to talk about this HAHA)

hmm i was gonna be like "oh i don't know, they're all so different" but actually No this is easy look

general thoughts:
vol 1 - gets stuck in between b & c because there are some genuinely good and interesting moments but those generally get lost under the weight of the really racist ending and the more boring issues
vol 2 - i know this isn't everyone's favorite and it definitely mischaracterizes the new warriors but if i ignore that it's enjoyable. i think the delivery service is cute. rich is having a bad time in his 20s and i can relate to that. i also think the nova 00 plotline was really good and so was the garthan saal + xandar Stuff that happens here. 18 is Devestating and i think about it a lot. gets points of for the some of the insensitive stuff in 2, 6, & 7 and also just dropping plot points left and right (I want to talk about epyrus again :( )
vol. 3 - (deep breath in) this one is Bad and if you've read it you know the reasons why. however, i do enjoy whatever bernie and rich have going on. i think putting rich in college is STUPID and i while rich's shitty fast food job has some funny moments it also Sucks because the delivery service thing was fine ok. OK? god.
vol. 4 - genuinely great, definitely the best of rich's solos, especially the first 25 issues. gets points off because the stuff that comes at the very end could use some work. overall very a super fun read, and definitely what hooks a lot of people when it comes to rich's character. gamora planned to give rich brainworms but she didn't account for me getting infected also
vol. 5 - good! love sam. i think its weaker points come with the territory of sam being a new character + the kinks of writing an origin story. overall good.
vol. 6 - fine. nothing really remarkable about it. i read it when it was coming out in 2016 while I was in middle school and thought it was ok. i don't remember all that much about it tbh. i should probably re read it but overall as of right now i remember it being fine if a little boring at times
vol. 7 - placed the highest for a reason; it's really good and the art is iconic. perhaps vol. 4 is better in terms of content but because this one was cut short it didn't have the same issues that vol. 4 did. overall awesome, but it's really only one arc so i'm not sure it's comparable to the others (also it's a duo not a solo but.... you know how it is)

Because the foster system is absolute shit, and I'd imagine Gotham's foster system is probs 10x worse, I've had an idea.
We know Stephanie's baby is not Tim's. But we also know Tim was willing to step up and help with the baby regardless, we know he was there for the baby's delivery too.
We also know Stephanie is not ready for a child, and that's okay. She was still basically a child herself at the time and she also feared for her babies safety if she ever was to keep it. It's okay for her to choose to give it up.
But I propose maybe Tim is the one who gets too attached here. And he's confused with himself because this child isn't even his. But he loved Stephanie, he still does though it's platonic now, and I just think he'd see that baby and immediately love it just as much.
And Tim knows he could never take this baby on just by himself, and Stephanie would never let him because again, their jobs are too dangerous.
Tim is also aware of how trash the foster system is, especially in Gotham.
So I'm imagining Tim somehow convinces Ma and Pa Kent to raise this little girl, because he can't imagine anyone else more trustworthy and qualified.
They're always down for a new kid. Ma had wanted a large family all her life, but unfortunately she was never able to have kids of her own. Clark was a miracle sent to her from above and Kon was a blessing in disguise, Ma thanks the powers that be for the chance to raise both boys.
But the Kent's have never had a daughter, and I feel like they would welcome this baby in with open arms. A little girl for them raise and dress up, and Ma's already started crocheting her a cute little cardigan.
And I think Stephanie was more worried than her child's safety than anything else too, so I think she would feel a lot less anxious handing the baby over to the Kents.
Like think of the story potential of the Kent's raising this little girl. She's safe away from all the vigilantism, and she has a normal childhood with two stable parents, just like her mother wanted for her. And then the heartbreak of that vigilante lifestyle still finding this girl despite all this anyways.
Just imagine how devestating a storyline that could be. You sacrifice a relationship with this child so she can have a better life, and it's all for nothing, because there's your little girl in a Kevlar suit swinging from the rooftops.
It was inevitable really, vigilantism is in her blood. Gotham is in her blood.
It doesn't matter that all she's known are the rolling fields of farmland, the soft embrace of a small country town, Gotham is still something living and breathing inside of her, and no one from Gotham can ever truly leave.
And you can't even be mad at the people who raised her, you can't fault them for this because they have done everything within their power, they've been good parents.
All Stephanie can do is despair. Because Tim promised her, he promised this child would never have to know the struggles of their own lives.
Her daughter will never be safe on the crumbling rooftops of this cursed city.
But here she is anyways, despite all efforts and sacrifice.
Also I feel like, if this girl is raised by the Kent's, when she does eventually come back it will be much easier for her to build up a real relationship with her mother when they reconnect. Because as someone with complicated family, I feel like it's very common for a child to want to seek out their bio-parents even if the parents who raised them were super loving and caring.
Sometimes you find your bio-parent/s and you regret ever looking for them, regret ever asking the people who raised you to help you find them. But other times you get welcomed back with open arms, wet apologies, and a good reason for why they gave you away.
I just think it'd be something nice to explore. More representation ig. Like all of Bruce's kids have known their parents before being adopted. But we've never gotten to explore what it's like for a lot of people who never even knew their bio-parents.
I mean sure, we got a glimpse of that desperation to fill the feeling of a missing piece with Jason, but we all know how that ended for him. His mother was a really bad person, and she's the reason he ends up 6feet under.
But I really want representation that shows not all parents who give up their kids are bad people. Some of them are actually doing what's best for that child because they have the maturity to understand that they wouldn't be able to provide a safe and stable environment for a kid. They're puting the child's needs first.
And I'd really like to see the struggle of a child who's only known the people raising her as her parents and despite how good they are, still feel like something is missing.

ATLA Modern USA Battle of the Bands AU - Katara focused. I thought this up in the car so it isn’t polished. Check out comradekatara’s AMV for what inspired this.
Katara is a 18 year old Tlingit girl who is part Makah on her grandmother's side. She just graduated high school.
Due to work, she hasn't seen her Dad for a while, as he's constantly traveling from Juneau to DC and back trying to get elected to Congress so he can pass more protections against the Oil companies in the area, especially the long standing Caldera Oil Company (COC). And between that, he has a job fishing, because he isn't rich. Gram Gram, not wanting to worry her son, doesn't tell him that there's been some suspicious businessmen who've recently bought the local bank and jacked up the mortgage and rental rates in the area, so that they might lose the house.
(Katara's mom worked in city hall and was the only one to know that COC had applied to drill and then found a major oil reserve right under their town. So she was murdered)
Sokka and Katara overhear Gram Gram talking about this with the other adults who are affected and are devestated. Of course, that's when a big dog walks into their lives. He's dirty, he looks like it hasn't been taken care of in a while, but Enamored, the siblings take him in.
That's when, of course, the 16 year old Tibetan-American John Doe wakes up at the local hospital, the only survivor of a terrible car wreck.
His name is Aang, he's a musical virtuoso, and his parents died for similar reasons like Katara's mom.
Unlike Katara's mom, his parents shared the info with him. The hit men thought he died.
Gram Gram is the only certified foster parent in town, so she takes him in. Aang reunites with his dog Appa joyously. He hasn't processed his parents' deaths yet.
The kids get to see Zuko (nickname for Zachary Sozinson, disgraced spare to the COC throne) threaten Gram Gram in their home. They manage to scare him and his bullies off, though not before they see recognition of Aang and then a regretful look on his face. The next morning, they see a commercial on TV - there's a rock music contest!
Three cities across the USA (Seattle, Chicago, DC) will have 'Diversity Bands*' battle for the chance to get out on records. Each band member has to be from a visibly different race.
The contest in Seattle needs a solo or duet act, the contest in Chicago two to three people, and the one in DC three to five people. Previous contestants are allowed to recompete as long as they add to their band.
There is also cash prizes for the second and third place winners for each city/category.
*yes it sounds very tokenizing and faux-left corporate and there's a good reason why narratively. Hold on.
Katara and Aang decide to hit the road, using what little savings he inherited from his parents and her money from her job during the school year. As she's only 18 and can't get hotel rooms, and Aang is still a minor, Sokka agrees to be their driver/ roadie/hotel dude when they can afford rooms. They rescue a raccoon kit along the way and name it Momo.
Shenanigans ensue, Zuko is kind of haunting them along the way, they can't tell if he's following them or if he's just going to the same place they are, etc. Aang stops by his old house only to find that it's been taken over by a COC worker who has been using/covering up his parents' proof papers.
The gaang convinces him to be a whistleblower as they leave. They also meet John John (Jeong Jeong), who they briefly consider adding to their band if they don't make it this round, and who is currently embroiled in a case against COC and thus needs to stay on the move for safety reasons.
He teaches Aang another instrument, though for once Aang REALLY doesn't take to it. Along the way they meet Suki, who is in a all girl band and is also going to compete, though they're going to wait until the Chicago contest so they all can get into the contract, etc. Sokka learns to respect girl bands.
Jet, who is also just going to go to the DC one for his big band, reveals to them that the record label is owned by COC, who wants to appear hip with the kids and not a conservative's wet, polluting dream. He feels that since he knows this stuff and how to defeat them (supposedly) he is justified in ruining other bands instead of winning honestly. That isn't good, obviously, so they distance themselves from him.
Eventually they make it to Seattle, Sokka and Katara are invited to stay with some Makah cousins they haven't seen since they were little.
Aang comes too of course, but isn't the reason they were invited in.
Katara learns more about music composition. There Sokka meets and falls in love with Yue, daughter of the mayor. She has to compete with her
'boyfriend' who is really just using her as a beard (consensually) but is very respected by her parents.
Zuko, who realized who Aang was and wants to capture him to bring him back to his Dad, so that there's less whistleblowers for COC, and thus regain his standing in the company, ends up wrecking their performance.
So 'the Gaang' only gets third place, but enough cash to let them squeak by until they reach Chicago. Yue gets first place, breaks up with her boyfriend, and ascends to star-(moon?)-dom. She is extremely busy and does not get to hang with the Gaang much for the rest of the series.
They travel to Chicago, Aang doesn't recognize his old friend Bumi from High school and gets teased relentlessly about it. Meanwhile, they're also looking for a third band member, Aang wants to learn a new instrument and Katara and Aang end up kissing, much to their embarrassment. Zuko and Iroh are on the road too, Zuko embarrassed by the even more public failure to help his father's business take down an individual with so much power to hurt COC (Aang). Similar plot lines with Jet, Azula and Katara's relationships with Zuko occur. Iroh opens a cafe.
Eventually, they make it to Chicago, where they see this 14 year old absolutely destroy everyone in a rap battle while ALSO playing drums. It's Toph! They trick her parents into letting her compete in the Chicago contest. Chicago is where COC wants to move their headquarters, and the local government wants their business, so many higher class people are in serious denial about their effect on the environment.
This time, the get second place, because Jet, who had been tortured for information by COC, manages to escape during their performance and cause a ruckus (he gets treated and reunited with his family don't worry).
Azula and Zuko (it's complicated like in the show) manage to take out Aang via a last minute stage mishap involving a heavy light falling on his head Iroh gets pinned for some COC crimes that Jet did manage to get public, Zuko returns to the top with Azula, etc. Suki's band wins and gets signed, but due to interference from Mai and Tai Lee, their contract is shittier than Yue's and they have to work a ton initially for low pay.
Toph's parents are NOT fans of how this turned out, but Toph's underground fans manage to placate her parents, and then they're on the road again.
Along the way Zuko has his change of heart, Iroh escapes, Katara's Dad is stuck in DC, Gram Gram might lose the house soon, and Aang is growing out his hair for the first time since his parents died. Katara meets Hama, who has a story pretty similar to both hers and how her mom died. When she hands Katara an [instrument] she modified to work as a poison dart gun who would ever check that for poison!] Katara hesitates to take it. She does end up taking it, but switches out the poison for a nerve stopper poison (I can't think of the right way to say it makes you fall asleep/unable to move for a while?).
Also Hama teaches her more music composition and really rounds out her skills lol.
(The painted lady episode WILL happen of course. If I ever write this.
It will probably happen in WV)(as will the school dance episode. Probably in. A rich area just outside DC)
Sokka learns to video edit and starts making music videos for the band. He also meets back up with Suki! Her initial hard-core tour is done, and she's taking a break from her band members for a bit.
When Zuko joins, he and Aang learn how to play his instrument best, he and Sokka finally visit Hakoda and tell him what's going on at home, and he and Katara track down her mom's killer. She poisons him, even keeping Hama's dart in hand just in case, but ultimately lets him live. Even though Zuko assures her he knows how to make it look like an accident. Aang learns how to write a very powerful song from an old person.
They win the big battle of the bands of course. COC then holds a concert to celebrate its 'new, future-forward clean image. There, Katara composes the music to Aang's song, and as their big finale, they play a song - with visualizer proof in the background on huge screens cut together by Sokka and partly by Hakoda) that exposes COC and Ozai.
The series ends with Zuko shifting the company to clean energy, Katara and Sokka returning home triumphant with Aang and his animals in tow, Hakoda gets elected, Toph lives independently and everyone gets to be happy. Except 'Oz' (Ozai) and kind of Azula.

because i cant stop thinking about it and i think it was your blog where i saw the idea most, but thoughts on jace joining the sophomore year quest:
he's obviously there to hinder them as long as possible so that arianwen can do her stuff. they're so <3 to me i can't *not* include them in any jace-related storyline anymore
porter then has to go w/ the ratgrinders himself, which is a whole different story lol
also gilear doesn't go with them. something, something only needing one aguefort staff member per quest. and jace is the smarter choice
jace is absolutly dying on the van-boat. he gives such "i need to drive so i can be in control" energy. especially post-shatterstar.
jace at the golden gardens <3 he's so glad they're spending so much time here on leviathan he can finally fucking relax
post-shatterstar, jace cares too much about arianwen and doesn't want to sleep w/ garthy o'brien and he's already in a precarious situation w/ porter.
jace befriending sandra-lynn faeth. they're going to be messy bitches together. if jace can't sleep w/ garthy, sandra-lynn still will
jace wanting to protect adaine bc she's arianwen's daughter still, even if she doesn't know that she's trying to stop her mother.
and jace fighting like hell to keep adaine away from the elves who want to take adaine away and being *devestated* when they take her. he wants to be her dad *so bad* but she's off sacrificing herself.
jace hoping he can kill angwyn so he can *finally* have more of arianwen's attention. and him *really* wanting to kill angwyn after seeing what he's done to his daughters.
jace loving and hating kei lumenera. it's such a fallinel thing and i think jace just really hates fallinel and the traditional high elven things. he's such a material girl to me.
he also dislikes all of leviathan other than the golden gardens. he's such a solesian <3 <3 <3
jace in arborly and having to watch the fucking shrimp party antics.
jace lying about not having plane shift (or he doesn't know plane shift bc why would he be leaving this plane of existence when this plane has all that he needs?) and having them take longer and longer to buy arianwen time.
jace, who feels guilty about sending aelwyn off with her mother when she deserves to rest. jace, knowing that he was supposed to be going into the forest but kalina *likes* where he is, what situation he's wrapped himself up in. and now he's *porters* and porter wants him to trail along the bad kids and see if they're the threat that may come up
i think porter knows that the bad kids are the ones that would end up coming after them, since no other party is giving this much effort. but with how distracted and wild they usually are, i think porter discredits them. especially after gorgug multiclasses into artificing.
jace, who has kalina in his ear all of the time, who is so amused by all of this and is driving a wedge further and further between arianwen and jace, because he is not Cassandra's anymore, he is Porter's
jace in hell. it's too hot and humid and it's messing with his hair

jace in the nightmare forest? jace turned into a puppet by kalina??? jace who is forced to hunt adaine and hurt her even though she's so much like arianwen it hurts and he never wants to do that.
kalina who taunts him about it. kalina who asks him if adaine will want her to be her new dad after *attacking* her? kalina who uses him like he's her favoritest little mouse.
and jace, who eventually comes to and sees arianwen once again, but she's been corrupted. jace, who sees his beloved attack her children, casts *power word pain* on adaine without remorse. jace, who's illusion of arianwen cracks and he tries to patch it together by saying she's under the influence of the crown and that he has to stop her in order to save her, that something went wrong, but,,,
did it?
and then kristen, who jace had practically forgotted was here, decides to ressurect cassandra herself, twisting her into someone different than what jace was sworn on, but his goddess is back!
except, she's being tied to a sophomore he knows is currently failing her cleric classes. except he can't worship her because he's tied to porter. except, she's punishing her own, true devoted worshipper Arianwen.
and kalina is destroyed and jace is happy for a moment, until he sees what's become and how he couldn't have ever won in this scenario.
and as they gather their bearings for one last night in the golden gardens, aelwyn asks how long he was with her mother, because aelwyn *knows* that he was the caster arianwen was planning on taking. and aelwyn *knows* that he's wrapped up in something greater than him
something, something jace and aelwyn parallel about always following the wrong person bc you care about someone who doesn't care about you the same way.
and jace who wants to be there for her, because now she has no parents (he's still reeling from the thought of adaine killing her father with a single punch), but jace knowing that if he gets any closer, porter will want to infect them as well.
and aelwyn goes on to find kipperlilly copperkettle, working for her to keep an eye on jace. and jace having to do sophomore year now w/ rival groups both considering him a mentor and how he doesn't want to betray either of them, but knows he will.
Oooph, absolutely nothing to add. At this point, whatever the fuck went on in the Mountains of Chaos in the original time line probably hurt a whole lot less than this

Kyuubi from Puella Magi Madoka Magica crawls into Edward's window.
"Contract with me and I'll grant your wish," says the incubator. (If he questions too much, Kyuubi will cheerfully non-explain that it's vital Edward make a wish to help stave off the end of the universe.)
What's Edward wishing for, and whats his fate look like as a magical boy?
It depends on how much power level we're willing to ascribe to Edward here. The amount you can change with your wish is dependent on your karmic destiny and how much you influence the lives of those around you and in the future.
The biggies we see in canon are Madoka (who turns out to be the focal point of several realities), Homura (who rewrites several realities), Kyoko (whose father founded a religious doctrine), Cleopatra (queen of a nation immortalized in defeat), Jeanne D'Arc (a canonized saint), and basically, well, legendary fgures.
Edward may have turned out to be more important than he should have been (the people in Seattle dying inadvertently because of his decisions, having a confrontation with the Volturi, all the people he ate personally, etc.) but he's really not that big of a deal and at least what we see of canon as now he doesn't affect that many people on a global scale.
In other words he might have more juice than Sayaka who was leading a very ordinary life but he's probably not going to be a truly heavy hitter who can change things on a global scale.
The Wish
Edward's wish is obvious: he wants to eradicate the world of vampirism. His family, all vampires (especially Bella and Renesmee), will turn back into humans.
Kyuubey feels very awkward because ah, the thing is Edward, you aren't quite powerful enough for that.
You could turn yourself back into a human, perhaps even your whole family, but all the vampires in the world is just too much.
Edward's very upset at this as if he's being offered a miraculous wish then there shouldn't be a limit to the miracle he can perform (but it is still a miracle, Kyuubey points out, not that Edward appreciates this much)
Edward now has a decision.
Of course he'll turn his family back into humans but if there are still vampires out there can he risk turning himself back too?
He ultimately decides against it (especially if post-canon the Volturi are out there).
The family doesn't react like Edward expects them to. They're not all joyous, Bella especially is imploding, and Renesmee is not functioning well with this at all.
Edward feels hurt and betrayed that they don't understand what he sacrificed for them.
It then gets worse when Edward realizes he can't live with them. He's a vampire, they're humans, he himself is the greatest risk to their existence.
He tragically goes to stalk them from the shadows, promising to watch over their existence.
And for a few weeks, this is fine.
Edward fights witches, everything's great, and his family are living blessed human lives.
Then Bella asks Edward to be a vampire again.
She points out he made this decision once before already and that they're back where they started. Bella will die, Edward will be alone again, and Bella wants to be a vampire with Edward forever.
Edward, has a dawning realization that Bella... doesn't get it. She's now been a vampire, she's felt the thirst, become this inhuman creature and she'd still throw her humanity away.
Edward realizes that he doesn't know Bella as he had always assumed that when she turned (when she turned despite everything) she would get it.
He rejects her and tries not to think about it.
Then Renesmee dies. Renesmee, having never been human or known human limitations, likely gets into an accident somehow which leads to a lethal injury.
(Jacob, of course, likely kills himself at this point now that his gravity is gone. Bella can't stop it.)
Bella, having been rejected and emotionally devestated, blames Edward. His daughter was immortal, his family was perfect, and he fucked it up for no reason. They weren't even eating people! No one was hurt by their existence! Now look at what's happened?!
Bella likely has a mental breakdown with Renesmee and Jacob dead and Edward essentially out of reach.
Edward is reminded by Kyuubey that this is what mortality is.
Edward now has no wife and no daughter. He's devestated, but tries to pull through. Kyuubey's right, this is what mortality is, AND IT'S BEAUTIFUL DAMMIT.
Then the rest of the Cullens get cancer.
See, turning back into humans wasn't a natural process for their cells to take. This left them vulnerable and prone to cell mutation.
Carlisle decides to get the Denali to turn him again. He doesn't mind being a vampire and has no wish to waste away from cancer. He'll go by fire, thanks.
Esme also agrees to be a vampire because of this, as then Edward can rejoin the family.
Emmett gives Rosalie a look.
A long look.
Rosalie, who was so eager to try for children again (which turned out not to be possible because infinite despair) now has only a human future where her family is fractured and she will not survive to old age.
But she can't become a vampire again.
Rosalie chooses chemo and to hope for the best. Emmett chooses to stay with her though tries to convince her to just turn already and increasingly despairs over what looks like it will be his own death.
Edward's despair is when he realizes his family resents him, he destroyed what he loved most, they turned into vampires anyway or else died horribly, and his life has only brought despair to those around him.

Sort of part 2? I already made another version from a scene with Babe but now i'm doing this scene for Charlie:) (I hope this is not stupid, im using a big part of what was shown in the show in this writing but i'm also adding a bit more of my own interpertation of these two scenes, because i feel like they're pretty important for each character) Word count: 671 words
The guilt was eating Charlie up alive. At first he didn't really feel guilty about planning his fake death. Along with needing all his energy and focus on recovery, he thought it for the better. Even if it did hurt Babe, it was for the best and would only guarantee his safety. That didn't mean Charlie didn't miss him, no on the contrary, he missed Babe a lot. When he heard Jeff's voice talking with Uncle Ravel, he slowly pushed himself up. All of his limps were sore and his head was heavy, he couldn't help but groan. Jeff turned to Charlie as he spoke up.
"So you went to stay with P'Alan?" Jeff rushed over to Charlie and grabbed his shoulder as he noticed his brother was awake. He slowly guided Charlie to sit. Jeff didn't answer Charlie's question but instead asked a question himself, "How are you P'?"
Charlie felt unsteady and wobbled sligthly against Jeff as he finally sat upright. He squinted his eyes against the bright light outside and pushed the blanket off of him.
"I'm not dead yet." Charlie respondedly vaguely. Honestly he was feeling terrible, his head felt like it was gonna burst, but he wasn't gonna say that to his brother. It was his own idea so he had to suffer the consequences quietly.
"What's the situation now?" Charlie suspected he had missed a whole lot of important events.
"Everything went as planned. Tony is mad that you're dead. He has Kenta search for new alpha children everywhere," Jeff rubbed his hands together in an absentmindly movement but Charlie still noticed, "The team has figured out that Dean is a spy. So now everyone has moved to P'Alan's house. P'Babe, P'North and P'Sonic, even including Kim." That surpised Charlie, the last time he heard about Kim he was still being held captive by Tony.
"Oh really?" was all he could say.
"What else can they do? Everyone was devestated by your death," Jeff looked at Charlie's face when he said the next words, "Especially P'Babe." Charlie frowned and looked at his lap.
"Is he very sad?" It sounded like a stupid question, because obviously Babe would be sad. But Charlie needed to know how sad Babe was.
"You died right in front of his eyes, how could he not be sad. It will take a while for him to accept it." It's because of this sentence Charlie started doubting this idea. He had thought about Babe being hurt by his plan, of course he had. But Charlie hadn't expected Babe to take his dead really hard. Maybe Charlie should have seen it coming from the way Babe had reacted when Charlie offered to give him his senses back, he got angry at him every time Charlie mentioned it. It made him want to call Babe or at least let him know he was okay but he couldn't, it would destroy the plan and all their hard work.
Jeff understood Charlie's silence and continued speaking, "I know that you are just as upset. But don't forget, the one who proposed this plan was you. You know how Babe will be." Jeff was right, of course he was but that still didn't help the horrible feeling in his gut. Charlie turned his head and looking at his hands in his lap, frowning ever deeper than he did before.
Jeff handed him his glasses and Charlie took them without saying a word, lost in his own mind. He wanted to call Babe, wanted to tell him it was all okay. He wanted to comfort him but he couldn't but instead he was left with a feeling in his stomach that made him want to throw up.
Jeff touched his knee and rubbed his thumb softly in a comforting gesture. "We'll take care of P'Babe, don't worry." But that was the only thing Charlie could do, worry about Babe. It was only a tiny bit of comfort that Charlie knew Jeff and Alan were looking out for him.

R!Donnie: My Leo sacrificed himself in a prison dimension so the Kraang wouldn't win. With the Kraang. He almost died if it weren't for my Mikey opening a portal.

Part of the reason the end of Sabaody Archipelago was so devestating for me is because you can see how much these characters have grown over the course of the series in this moment, but none of it was enough to even hope of beating Kizaru or Kuma, they aren't strong enough.
Zoro feels the need after Thriller Bark to become stronger for everyone (even though his strength is what kept him alive when it would kill most people) and to be someone everyone can rely on, especially Luffy. So the fact that he's the first to dissapear, the entire crew starts crumbling without that support that they've always had from Zoro.
Sanji is constantly worried throughout this arc about Zoro's wellbeing because he's the only one that knows what fully happened, and Zoro isn't fully recovered. I think Sanji leaving Nami in order to try and help Zoro is a big moment for him in acknowledging that he considers everyone on this crew a part of his family, not just Robin and Nami. He's learned to work together with Zoro because they're often each other's supports. But that development of learning to work with Zoro doesn't matter, Sanji dissapears too.
The entire East Blue Saga is about Nami's character arc and building trust with Luffy and the Strawhats, where it culminates in her asking Luffy to help her and with the hat pass off, where he in turn trusts her with his treasure. The amount of trust the crew has in her as their navigator and as their friend is huge, and she has trust in all of them and Luffy to help her. So to hear her echo the words that were the turning point for her in Arlong Park, fully trusting that Luffy can help her, and for her to dissapear is when it really started to hurt.
The one that hurt the most though was Robin, and I think it was so intentional for Zoro to be the first to go and Robin the last. When time and time again the crew went after her and reassured her, "You're a part of us, no matter who your enemies are we'll fight them together." She finds her will to live again through being with them, and accepts their help. And the fact that she doesn't run away from them even as the crew is in such a disastrous situation, with an admiral that almost killed the second strongest crew member without a fight, shows how much she's changed and that these are her friends. And then it's taken away from her so quickly despite that change of heart.
Usopp puts his life on the line to get his friends out of there. Chopper becomes a monster in front of everyone because his friends matter more to him. Franky trying to protect his new family from being taken away. Brook, the newest member and the one who has the least attachment, trying to stop the cyborg so that Usopp can have a chance of getting out. All of these moments showing how much they've grown since the beginning and care about one another, but they're still too weak.

SO many angsty scenarios for him I love this man and I love hurting him
I don't know if I ever posted here but I had an idea where Lucrecia had a son either with Gelsin or after his death. She gave the baby to her sister while she went to go do work in America.
But then she had fun there, and she met a very nice man, and Gus was growing up so well with Marona and Lazarus. And maybe she didn't want to mention the messiness of her family to Ford when they were having such a good time in their own little world, until she was sure about him.
But she does come back to fight for her country, and in the aftermath of the war political differences divide the sisters. Marona wont' let Lucrecia even see Augustus, and even if they fight about it Lucy knows the palace is not safe for him. It's not safe for anyone to even know she has a child.
And then the deluge happens, and Marona and Lazarus are dead, and everyone forgot that Augustus had ever been anyone but Marona's child.
I just think it was hard enough to lose his mother once- this kind of revelation, if it ever came to light, would break Gus from the emotional whiplash. I'm not your mother- oh wait yes I am!
Completely upset his understanding of family and his identity crisis becomes crippling. Who is he?

Another idea is Gus struggling to feel like he can become a "true psychic" from his cut voice lines.
I'm sure he has great power, but he's insecure about his age. Isn't he starting too late? Hasn't he repressed for too long?
He has to put on a brave face for his family, especially Razputin and Frazie. After he made them feel like they had to hide themselves, how could he burden them by letting them see him struggle?
He doesn't feel like he has the right to feel what he's feeling, and definitely not to express it. But every time his powers stutter, his levitation ball deflates or his flames flicker out, he wonders if something inside of him is irreversibly broken.

Then we could always just whump him! He's a powerful psychic after all. If his powers ever got out of hand then he would never forgive himself. The Aquatos have many enemies, and we don't know who they all are. The family is fractured and vulnerable right now. If someone wanted to take advantage, it would be all too easy.
If they attacked his family, he would protect them, and it would be difficult to handle the aftermath. He was always afraid of his powers and the hurt they could cause. Even if it was for a good reason, he'd be devestated.
Or he could be kidnapped, separated from the family, his emotional support and his rock. Used as a hostage or bait or any number of awful things, he just wants so desperately to be home and safe.

If I'm doing hurt I want to offer comfort! Gus is a family man! He adores his wife and children. I think in any scenario he can be okay if he explains what he's feeling. Dona can help him with that!
She's the one who can get past his need to be strong. He can lean on her and with a little coaxing it all comes out. She holds him and kisses his face and reassures him their family is strong and they love each other, and they love him, so much. Even if he doesn't know who he is, she knows him like the back of her hand. They'll figure it out together.
And if he was kidnapped, may god have mercy on the souls of those who tried to hurt him. This man leaves a good impression on anyone he meets, the only thing he has more than enemies is friends and loved ones. After being rescued, he can return to the caravan, filled with warm familiar smells and sounds, as his whole family piles in to one big cuddle pile. They're safe, they're all going to be okay now that papa's home.

Had a thought about head canons for Dragon Gai. Specifically about his long life and him slowly aging throughout the centuries.
I imagine Gai aging so slowly as a dragon, that for a LONG time he doesn't notice. Especially with his depression when he first transformed. But also a lot of things that indicate human aging are no longer attatched to him. He has maybe a black maine that doesn't change colour (imagine if he gets someone to cut that from a crazy maine to a bowl cut every year or five, and him just being kinda super attattched to that hair style and the humans who cut his hair also being excited to do so. Maybe it's a great honor in the kingdom (imagine what they could turn that dragon hair into! XD!!!)), he has no wrinkles, or loose skin. And I imagine him sitting with Kakashi on a cliff one day, watching the last of his friends get buried and asking "is this why gods never get close to us... because it hurts so much to watch us die?" And Kakashi just putting a hand on his scaly arm and maybe giving him a hug. (Because he needs one!)
So anyways for a few hundred years after that conversation, Gai stops believing he can age at all. He's actively flying to other lands. He's learning how other people live and bringing that knowledge back to Tonika so the village can learn and advance at a faster rate than any other nation that exists. He's learns new philospophies and takes the time to learn new languages, and has gotten a penchant for talking to people in riddles just to mess with them and see how they react. It's quite funny to him. Sometimes he finds people, or groups of people in horrible situations, and just decides to bring them back home to Tonika. Bringing more ethnicities into the village and more diverse thinking, but also a more clever society. (The firest time he came back with like 20 people on his back and says he's coming back with 500 more, I'm sure Tonika was surprised. But everyone learned to deal with it because... well. No one is going to question or backtalk the mother hugging dragon keeping them safe!).
And then one day, 700 hundred years later, Gai finds himself... tired. That it's harder to move out of his cave. Kakashi may acually have to help him up sonetimes or to massage his muscles. Maybe even get Tsunade over and perform some acturpuncture. And neither know what was wrong he just felt...stiff.
Another hundred years go by. Gai feels slower to answer questions. It's getting harder and harder to fly and when he does, he needs time to recover. One day someone is cutting his maine and they come across a white hairs and Gai finally knows what's happening to him... he's aging... which means he'll be dying and it's a mix of fear and excitement. He's in absolute wonder until he looks at some of his art of Kakashi he feels... regret... and fears leaving his friend alone again. Especially now that he knows he did so before and the results were devestating... He has to come up with some precautions before he passes. He's pretty sure he still has time to do so, he's just not sure how long that is.
So he gets busy. He finishes art projects in his cave that will hopefully last forever. He finds a family that has been noble, loyal and kind to Tonika for hundreds of years, and he introduces the title of "king" and "queen" to the people and suggests this family, which gets a near 100% agree rate and starts watching people make a castle for a stronghold near the middle of the city, to protect them when he can not. He's learned a LOT about architecture over the centuries, so he borrows designs/ offers advice to the makers, so by the time they're done there will be a structure that can watch over and protect the entire kingdom long after he's gone. He may have even donated some of his scales, so there are rooms in that castle that are basically unbreakable! Im case of the worst case scenario (a fact that may have been forgotten to time or is just refered to in legend.)
Then slowly but surely... he starts to find it harder and harder to move out of his cave. He loses the ability to fly because it hurts his back and joints to much. He's colapsing under his own weight as he slowly gets to old and frail to move himself. Maybe he could retreat to the rivers and ocean if he wanted to make his life a little easier... but he chooses to stay in the mountains. Close to his home...to Kakashi. Where he first met him a previous life time ago. Next to the man he adores and who visits him regularly still...who now learns he's dying now that Gai has prepared everything.
And he's sorry to leave Kakashi. He didn't want to hurt him again like he apparently did the first life. He suggests Kakashi can go if its too hard to see him like this. He just doesn't want him to get hurt and drown the world again. Even if that means Gai dying all alone and being eventually forgotten...
But Kakashi shuts that down. And confesses one of the reasons it was so hard on him the first time Gai died... was because he wasn't there to say goodbye...He truly didn't see it coming... and he would NEVER let that happen again. He won't ever let Gai die alone again, no matter how much it hurts him.
And Gai falls a little more in love with Kakashi all over again...but can't find it in him to tell him. He never can get over that final layer of unworthiness and self loathing in his mind... he just gets a promise for a proper burial from his best friend. His remains will not be fought over or ripped apart like some greedy seagulls swooping down on him... he will die properly, his remaind scattered and disposed properly and what ashes remains will be buried or scattered properly, never to be found again...he will have a proper finding resting place, just like a human that he always was... just as he deserved.
It takes somewhere between a week to a month for Gai to finally die, and Kakashinever leaves his side. He gets him water and food and helps keeps him as comfortable as he can... when it's finally time, Gai hopes that next time he sees Kakashi, he gets to see him as the man he always was...
(And then a bunch of gods attack but that's not Gai's fault.)
Ok probably the only things i would change is
Not Gai introducing the idea of a monarchy to protect the village, but the villagers realizing they’re about to lose a very powerful force that protects them and deciding they need to do something to protect themselves because Gai had been attacked and people have tried to go to Tonika as other civilizations grew and began travelling, but Gai always protected them. They won’t have him anymore so they need to protect themselves
Kakashi knows gai is dying. He realizes it before anyone because he recognizes those signs, but he also doesn’t know how long that process will take so he chooses to ignore it in favor of making memories (filling the hole in his heart kinda idea)
Gai’s ashes maybe being molded into something like a weapon by tenten, and gifted to the new ruler (nonbinary ruler) as a symbol of their status. They take an oath to protect the village just as The Hero Gai did and to keep it prosperous and strong. The ashes have no magical power so even though some try to steal the weapon thinking it is magic because of gai, it really is just a really cool sword (that maybe gets lost for hundreds of years until two mortal kids go exploring in the forest beside the village and find it in a tree that no one can remember being there.
But i really love the idea of Gai getting one lifetime to learn what a painful existence immortality can be, and then in a much later lifetime deciding to accept the offer of immortality with the full knowledge that it will HURT sometimes
