picture this: mrs danvers desperately tries to keep ich from from throwing away and destroying all of rebecca's old things. she notices ich looking at the latter's favorite figurine and quickly walks towards where it's sitting on the desk. she holds her hands above it protectively, not quite daring to touch it. ich grabs it from beneath her hands anyway and holds it above her head triumphantly. mrs danvers takes a few steps back, hands hovering above her heart. she whispers a soft 'no'. ich lets the figurine fall, it shatters. mrs danvers despairs.

can you do a jealous carol x reader ? like reader has had long time crush on carol and admits her feelings only to get turned down bc carol has internalized homophobia and doesn’t know how to react. carol gets jealous when reader is moving on with another mcu character of your choice.
carol danvers x reader
warnings: internalized homophobia, failed the reverse bechdel test (women only talk about one (1) woman, a gay), no gays fighting over Y/N
word count: 2565 for the gays; set in avengers: endgame; everyone lives au
read part 1 here
Now, after a couple of years, you got promoted
Working under Nick Fury and caring for the Flerken really got you qualified to work in the field
And you did, with the best of the best: Natasha, the Black Widow, and Clint, Hawkeye
You were there when Loki destroyed New York, when Ultron threatened to destroy the world
Over time, your powers manifested, they have been dormant for the longest time
Speaking of dormant, you hadnt heard from Carol since the night she left
You talked to Nick, asked him if she’s ever stopped by, but she hasnt
“She’s busy saving the world, Y/N” he’d tell you, but that didnt make you feel better
You felt so hurt, by her reaction, her rejection, but you began to look forward
But you think about her everyday, wondering what could have been
Carol had given Nick a pager, “for emergencies only”, she reminded him, but she also gave you one
Carol told you that it’s just to make sure Fury doesnt send out some false alarms, but who was she kidding? Maybe she did want you to hit her up
But after all those years, you hadn’t
She looks at her pager every single day, wondering if the world would miss her if she decides to come see you, to clear things out
And you have thought about ringing her up too, in times when the world is in trouble, and in times when the feeling you have on your chest is sharp that you couldnt breathe
In times when you miss her so much you cry uncontrollably, hand over your mouth to make sure no one hears
To make sure no one hears how much you miss the woman you love
You were with Nick and Maria when it happened
It was chaos in the city, and you, Nick and Maria got out of the car to investigate
The drivers seats of cars are empty, helicopters crashing into buildings
Almost reflexively, your hand flew to your pocket, where the pager lay there, almost waiting for you to press it
“Y/N?” Maria sounded distressed, and when you turned to her, her body was disintegrating, like sand blown away by the wind
Nick was distressed and eyed you, “You have to call her. Call control.”
You didn’t hesitate, pressing the button as you watched Nick do the same to his pager, watching your mentor and friend disappear right in front of your eyes
When your right hand started to disappear, you moved the pager to your left hand, tears threatening to spill
You were going to die, alone, unloved, and not having told Carol how much you miss her
Her name was the last thing on your lips before you disappeared
When carol came back to earth, she didnt know anyone
But everyone was grateful to her, for returning tony
The burning question in her head, the one thing she almost didn’t want to admit
Where is the woman she loves?
Back then, way back when carol was still a child, she was told that there were a lot of things she couldnt do
She couldn’t be strong, couldn’t play baseball--because she was a woman
She couldn’t join the air force, couldn’t be a pilot--because she was a woman
All of these things she couldn’t do, but there has always been one thing she was not allowed to do, not allowed to be
Because she was a woman, she is not allowed to like other women
Maybe if she tried hard enough, she could break the glass ceiling and become an air force captain, but there was one thing that she just was not allowed to do
And that was to acknowledge weird, different feelings for women
That has always been the case, it was drilled into her being, ever since she was a child
Girls can’t like other girls
And you confessing your feelings to her years ago forced her to acknowledge that her feelings for you were not at all platonic, that she didn’t stay with you for 3 days just because you were a good friend to her
Carol had to face the facts that being with you reminded her that she was human, and deep down, like the child that she was a long time ago, she had feelings that she didn’t believe were right
And she understood that her running away was not the right thing to have done, that she, who almost prided herself for being able to face her problems head on, was not ready to face this one problem that she had been forced to hide deep down, for years and years
Carol Danvers had always liked girls, and she liked you
Carrying that aircraft containing tony stark and nebula did not bother her one bit, what bothered her was that she was coming to earth after all these years
Somehow she believes that she is being forced to finally deal with abandoning you after all these years
But in spite of this, carol is feeling excited about this, because finally, after all these years...she had made peace with it
Girls like girls like boys do, nothing new
And all it took for her to realize that was the beeping of the pager
When everything had settled down, carol had been graciously offered a change of clothes by Pepper, who was hysterically thanking her for bringing tony back
The atmosphere was morbid, everyone in silent despair, and she was quietly begging for someone to fill up the spaces of what has happened on earth since she was last there
Finally, surrounded by a group of people calling themselves the “Avengers” (carol raised an eyebrow at this, asking if nick fury was the one who assembled the group, “Yeah, how’d you know?” Rhodes asked, and she shrugged and said “Lucky guess”), she was finally brought to speed
“It’s been 23 days since Thanos came to earth”
Holograms of people Carol believed were part of this team are projected around her
“We’re trying to take a census, and it looks like he did exactly what he said he was gonna do”
Nick Fury’s face appeared on the screen, much to Carol’s shock
Tears were brimming in her eyes, thinking about the distress call from Nick
Because if Nick sent the distress call and is now, as Natasha said, wiped out...does that mean…?
“Thanos wiped out...50% of all the living creatures”
Y/N’s face appeared in front of Carol not long after
With that, Carol exhaled as tears finally fell down her cheeks...she had her suspicions, but hoped--no, begged--for it to be false
Y/N was gone
And carol was too late
Tony stark had been upset...and collapsed, Carol, who was still in shock, was staring at the hologram of Y/N in front of her
“Carol, right?”
Carol turned, regarding Natasha with a nod
They hadn’t had the chance to properly introduce themselves, but Carol didn’t think there was any time
“Carol Danvers,” Steve added with a chuckle, “I think we all know you by name before we even met you”
“Fury really singing me praises, huh?” Carol was almost amused
Natasha smiled sadly, “Not Fury,” and she and Steve turned their heads toward the hologram of Y/N
“Whenever she had the chance, she would talk about “her”, Y/N’s greatest love,” Natasha whispered, remembering how she and Clint always pretended to be annoyed whenever Y/N would go on and on about this really powerful superhero who shined like the sun, and lit a flame in her heart
And as much as Carol wanted to bask in the appreciation, she felt nothing but shame, knowing she abandoned Y/N, and wasn’t able to save her
Glancing back at the hologram, she eyed her once more
Years had been good to Y/N, still beautiful as ever, leaving her breathless, but she wasn’t there anymore
And Carol knew what she had to do
If she couldn’t save Y/N, Carol could avenge her
Rhodes approached her, Natasha, and Steve, “He’s probably gonna be out for the rest of the day”, referring to tony
With a resolute look on her face, she said, “You guys take care of him, and I’ll bring him a Xorrian elixir when I come back”
Confused, Natasha, Steve and Rhodes glanced at each other before Steve asked, “Where are you going?”
“To kill Thanos,” Carol said matter-of-factly
Natasha could almost feel the anger Carol was radiating with, so she hurried to catch up to her, “You know, we usually work as a team here…”
When Natasha finally had the chance, she pulled carol over to the side to talk to her privately
“I know that you usually work on your own, that there are worlds out there who need you, but earth needs you too”
She was convincing Carol to stay, to try and create a better world for the people who survived, but it was getting quite hard for Carol to remain on earth
“I don’t…” Carol shook her head, “I don’t have much left on earth.”
“If you can’t stay, atleast come from time to time,” Natasha begged, “This was your home, wasn’t it? This was Y/N’s too.”
And Natasha was right, Carol thought, and in more ways than one, it was her home. But now it’s empty, and Carol is in mourning and she had never felt so alone
All those years, she thought she could live with what she did knowing that Y/N she was still on Earth, possibly with someone who is not ashamed of who she is, who is not ashamed to accept their own feelings
And Carol was okay with that thought, but now…
She couldn’t stand being on Earth knowing Y/N wasn’t there
It was like coming home to a cold and empty house
But she looked at Natasha, finally with the courage to ask her what she had been thinking all this time, “Were you and Y/N together?”
“No,” Natasha answered, almost teasingly
Carol felt relief, but above all, she felt obligated
To do right by Y/N
So she agreed to visit and report from time to time, “For Y/N. Because I need to do right by Y/N.”
When Carol returned to earth after 5 years, Thanos was there, and so was everybody who had disappeared 5 years ago
In spite of all the chaos, she couldn’t help the voice in her head, asking, “Is Y/N here? Is she safe?”
But you were nowhere to be found, and she had promised to scour the world for you later
Thanos was defeated, but it was in exchange for the lives of Tony and Natasha
With a heavy heart, everyone attended their funerals, all grieving the loss of two of their comrades, friends
At the funeral, Carol stood at the distance, watching behind everybody else
Behind her, Nick was there, and they exchanged solemn nods and opted to wait until the end of the funeral to reconnect
“You came,” was the first thing Fury said, after all those years that they haven’t seen each other
With a small chuckle, she nodded, “Don’t flatter yourself, I didn’t come because you called.”
“I know,” Fury retorted, amused, “You came because she called, right?”
Carol’s mouth opened, lips about to ask a question she had been dying to ask ever since she came back, but no words came out
When everything was chaos and adrenaline and fighting, Carol was not scared
But now that the dust has settled, she was terrified...because now there was no more excuse to avoid what her heart has been begging her to do
Before she could push the question out of her mouth, Fury handed her a piece of paper. “She’s off-duty. Gave her a whole damn month to recuperate from being wiped off the face of the planet.”
And when Carol unfolded the piece of paper, it was just an address
Nodding gratefully to Fury, Carol turned to leave, about to face her biggest obstacle yet
From what she could tell, it was a safehouse
Apparently, Y/N was someone high up the organization that they had warranted her one
Just a little cottage out on the countryside, a palace she had always wanted
Carol laughed whenever she remember you saying, “Maybe one day I could afford a little house in the middle of Kansas, meet Clark Kent and Lois Lane...I don’t know”
And here you were, at a small little house in the countryside
Carol watched you, almost ashamed to just be staring at you while you make yourself some breakfast
As she approached the porch, she wondered how she could take on the mad titan Thanos, but is now shaking as she brought her knuckles to knock on your door, extremities suddenly feeling cold, and knees wobbling to support her weight
She could barely hear your footsteps because of the blood rushing to her head, to her face, heart beating wildly
And when you opened the door, she noted how your eyes widened the tiniest bit, mouth opened in surprise when you realized who was on the other side
“Hi, Y/N,” was the first thing she croaked out
“You…” you smiled at her, “you changed your hair”
With a laugh, she nodded, running a hand through her short hair, before she let her hand down
Slowly counting to three
And engulfed you in a hug
Absolutely-swept-you-off-your-feet hug, your feet leaving the ground as her arms wound tightly across your waist, almost crushing you
And when you heard her inhale into the nape of your neck, it was like a reflex that you threw your arms around her neck, squeezing her just as tight
And Carol wanted to apologize, and confess, and plead for you to give her another chance
She wanted to tell you that she’s sorry for leaving, i was so confused and i was scared to come back and have you look me in the eye and tell me you don’t forgive me for what i did, but i have made peace with who i am and know what i want and what i want is you and your happiness and you and you
And she may have tried to make a letter to help her organize her thoughts
You held her shoulders back, looking at her, really looking at her, after all these years, and you use your thumbs to wipe away the tears running down her face as she shyly laughed at you and held your hands to her cheeks and kept it there for a second, relishing in your heat because you were finally here, after all this time, after 5 long years you are alive
And she brought your hands down and cupped your face and leaned in
And touched her lips to yours, gently, lovingly, finally
You can taste the saltiness of her tears, but also her apologies, and love, and devotion and you kissed her back, smiling
And as you pulled away, you wiped her tears again, before holding her hands, guiding Carol inside, “Let’s eat breakfast.”
And Carol Danvers, for once, was selfish, and did not think of the world needing her help, because she knows that the world would be fine if Carol stayed home for a while
And home is wherever you are
a/n: thank you so much for your support! i rly hope you like this ;__;

Under Pressure.
Supercorp, Kara Danvers x Daughter!Reader, Lena Luthor x Daughter!Reader.
Word count: 2340.
“You have to pay more attention!” Kara says landing in the backyard. You make an annoyed sound, landing right next to her.
“I was paying attention.” You throw your hands up. You’ve been hearing this for five minutes now and you’re done.
“And still you nearly dropped it.” She follows you inside the house, and you make your way to the kitchen trying to lose her. “Are you listening?”
“Yes, momma. I’m listening. I have super hearing, so-”
“Ok, don’t be funny. You wanted to join more Supergirl missions and I went against my own principle of waiting until you’re 18, and then you almost dropped the most fundamental thing for our mission.”
“But I didn’t.”
“That’s not the point.”
“What is the point, then?” You huff, upset.
“I can’t bring you to missions if you’re not going to take it seriously.” Oh, so that’s her point. You should’ve known it was too good to be true. Lena said it was ok if you still went supering with Kara, but you know, deep inside, that wasn’t exactly how she was feeling about this. You know Kara, you know when she doesn’t actually mean something. And this is her not meaning a word she is saying to you.
“I call bullshit!”
“LANGUAGE!” She interrupts and you roll your eyes.
“I didn’t nearly drop it. I was paying attention the entire time and I can recite the entire conversation beginning to end. Besides-” You shrug. “Had I dropped it, I would be able to fix it on the spot, because I made it myself.” You look at her, crossing your arms. “So, why can’t you bring me to missions? The truth, Kara Danvers. Remember that we don’t do lies in this house.” You dare, earning a sigh from her instead of an actual answer.
“I guess you can still come.”
“Wow, don’t look so excited!” She doesn’t. She looks the opposite. Like she thought that her speech would work and she didn’t expect you to bite back. “And you didn’t answer the question, anyways.”
“There’s no reason-” Kara starts, but stops when you raise an eyebrow at her. “Ok, fine. Your mom thinks you need to focus more on other stuff.”
“Of course she does.” You narrow your eyes at Kara, looking deep inside hers. “What do you think I should do?”
“Focus on other-I-I think-” That’s how she leaves the sentence and you turn around, grabbing water and making your way to your bedroom. Before you leave the kitchen, though, you look behind with a sad smile.
“I won’t bother you with my presence anymore.” She tries to argue, but you’re too far away, and you pretend you can’t hear her.
You knew it. Lena tried to play it cool about you getting a bad grade, but you know her, you know Luthors. It’s not that easy and it’s not that simple. They don’t fail, they don’t raise quitters, they don’t accept nothing less than 100% at all times (or more).
Lucky for you, you had never failed anything before. But now, Lena’s true colors are shining and you can expect much more fire power coming. And you are correct.
“Um, what are you doing?” Lena asks, when she opens your bedroom door, and you look up from the game you’re playing on your videogame. You don’t answer, because it’s pretty obvious, you just blink at her, for her to go on. “Shouldn’t you be studying? Kara said you went on a mission with her this afternoon.”
“Yes, I did.” You agree, pausing the game, to look at her properly. “But it was earlier today and I already did all of my homework, and worked on a robotics project I had, so-” You show her the videogame.
“Great.” Except that she doesn’t look convinced. “Aren’t you grounded?”
“Yeah?” You ask, confused.
“Game.” She shows you her hand and you breathe deep placing your videogame on her hand. “If you have time to play, you have time to clean your bedroom.” She is almost closing the door, when she opens again and looks at you. “Dinner in 20, bedroom cleaned before it.”
You don’t answer, so she closes the door and you shuffle around in bed, upset. Too good to be true. You should’ve known.
The week goes on as you were expecting to. Everywhere you look, there’s Lena Luthor. It’s been getting kind of hard to ignore her constant presence. Now the great mother Luthor is back again and man, how you hate the great mother Luthor.
“Remember-” It’s Wednesday, she is dropping you off at school, and she doesn’t even have to say the words for you to know what’s coming after. You heard this every day this week.
“Focus your attention on your teacher’s voice.” You mimic her voice, and she looks at you, taking her eyes off the road.
“Are you making fun of me?” She asks, annoyed, and you roll your eyes, looking to the other side. “Because I don’t think is funny nor-”
“The car.” You say, pointing to the front, where the car in front of yours just stopped.
“Appropriate for you to be making-” She goes on like she can’t hear you.
“The car!” You say a little louder. “The car stopped!”
But it’s too late for her to stop now, and she’s definitely going to bump into the back of the car, whether she hits the brakes or doesn’t. You fly out the window and pick up her car, flying away with it. You land on an empty street behind your school, putting the car back on the ground. You open the door to pick up your backpack, throwing it over your shoulder.
“I get it. I can’t get distracted.” You wink, with a little bitch grin, and make your way to the school, leaving a trembling Lena Luthor behind.
You think that maybe that’s going to make her realize she’s being a little too harsh on you, but things don’t get better.
“What are you making?” Lena asks, going inside your lab on Thursday, and you look up from your prototype. Her voice is already accusatory, like you should be doing anything else, except what you’re doing right now, even though she doesn’t know what it is yet.
“Um, a solar battery for my-”
“Shouldn’t you be studying?” She asks and your face drops. Nothing has changed.
“This is studying.” You point to your book in front of you. “And I get extra points if I do it right and it works on the school’ scoreboard.”
Lena looks a little lost at the realization you’re not just playing around like she thought you were. She sighs, like she always does when she feels defeated, and agrees with her head, coming closer.
“You should change the resistor for it to have more power.” She points at it, and you look up, staring at her with a confused expression.
“I used the 4.7K, it should be enough for the scoreboard.”
“If you use the 100K you’ll have more power.”
“Mom, 100K is enough to power our house, I think I can make it work with the 4.7 just fine, if I just-”
“Fine.” She interrupts, making her way to the door. “Do it however you like it. But don’t blame me if you don’t get the extra points that you’re looking for.”
You hung your head low, thinking this feels a lot like you imagine living with Lillian Luthor would be like. The constant pressure, the picking on every detail of everything that you do. Lena leaves your lab and you put your head down on the table, feeling the tears coming. You shouldn’t feel so bad that she’s pushing you so much, but this feels harder and harder the more that you think about it, because she was never this tough on you until you got your first bad grade.
So, when Friday comes you pretty much had it with her breathing down your neck, and her aggressive attitude for absolutely no reason.
“I hope that’s homework.” She says, late at night, when she comes into the kitchen and sees you and Kara looking at something, and giggling together. It’s Friday night, she can’t possibly be serious right now.
“OH MY GOD, WILL YOU STOP?” You yell, and your eyes widen when you notice what you just did. You yelled, but yet you wish she somehow hadn’t heard you.
“Excuse me?” Lena raises her eyebrows at you. She heard you. Of course she heard you.
“I’m sorry I yelled, but God! You need to back off a little.” You regret saying that too, because her eyes are shooting daggers at you and you know you’re in deep trouble. It doesn’t really help either that Kara is looking shocked, mouth agape and wide eyes next to you.
“Do you want to repeat that?” Lena asks, giving you a way out. You should take it.
“I do not.” See. A lot easier. Except. Except the words are still fighting on your mind and you’re trying very hard to hold them back, but you just blurt out, instead. “Because I’m sure you heard me.”
Oh no. What the fuck are you doing?
Kara sucks on her breath, and you know she won’t protect you from whatever avalanche of words that are coming, because you brought this on yourself.
“You must be mistaking me for someone else.” Lena steps in a little closer. “Because I don’t believe you would be insane enough to disrespect me like this.”
“Mom, I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be disrespectful.” You say, trying to calm her and yourself down. “I really don’t, but you said you weren’t mad about my grade, but you’ve been acting like you are. And then you said I could go supering with momma, but told her she had shut me down.”
“I did no such thing.” She defends herself looking at Kara, who just looks down trying to ignore her look.
“Look, I-I get it. You think that I’m a failure.” You bite your cheek, trying not to cry when you say this. “And maybe I am, because I got a bad grade, but-”
“You are not a failure.” She stops before you go on.
“Well, that’s how you’re making me feel.” You breathe out deep. “It’s too much pressure. I don’t understand what I have done to deserve that. I got a bad grade, and that’s it. I know we’re Luthors and Luthors don’t fail, but-but I told I’ll do better next time and you believed me. Why don’t you anymore?”
You feel Kara’s hand holding your knee under the table. It’s her way of saying that she’s got you, even though she’s definitely not going to say anything. It doesn’t matter, you feel supported, anyways.
“I believe you.” Lena says, pulling the chair in front of you, and she sits down with a sigh. “I just want to make sure you’re doing your best in every area of your life, baby.”
“And you think that bossing me around is going to help that?” You’re still trying to hold back the tears, but it’s harder when the next phrase goes out your mouth. “FYI, this is the first time you called me baby all week.”
Lena looks a little lost. Like she hadn’t really noticed she was being this stern with you. You clean a tear that is running down your face, and feel another squeeze on your leg. You look at Kara giving her a thankful smile.
“I agree that I shouldn’t be listening to you while I was taking a test, but I got an F in French, and still managed to help you with your experiment. So, why can’t that be a win? A tiny little ‘let’s not drive our kid to madness’ kind of win?” You breathe deep, putting one hand under the table, and holding Kara’s. She is there. She supports you.
“Ok.” Lena finally lets out, after what it feels like minutes. “Ok, yeah. I’ve been acting a little too severe for my own liking too.” You agree with your head. “I don’t want you to feel like you’re a failure because you got a bad grade. And, you’re allowed to make mistakes.”
“Not only at school.” Kara adds, earning an agreeable look from Lena. She holds your hand up, and kisses it with a smile. “You know, failing it’s not about not making mistakes. But rather stop trying. Failure is just a price to pay for success.”
“Wow.” You look at Kara with teary eyes, but a playful smile on your lips. “Where did you read that?”
“Shut up.” She jokes pushing your shoulder with hers.
“Well, even though Kara clearly just quoted someone…” Lena also jokes, making Kara stick her tongue out, in a very childish attempt to defend herself. “She’s right. I don’t want you to think you have to be right and successful all the time. What I want is for you to never stop trying to be better than you were before.”
“I can do that.” You agree with your head to make your point. “If you just let me breathe a little.”
“I can do that.” Lena parrots, and you smile a little. She calls you with her hand and you let go of Kara’s hand, rounding the table and going to her. She pulls you into her lap and hugs you tight. “I love you, babygirl. You’re not and never will be a failure to me, ok?”
“Promise?” You beg, and she kisses your forehead whispering softly onto it.
“I promise.”
And it’s not like they’re never going to pressure you to be better again. You know that this will probably happen at times. You belong to a family of heroes. Super or not. Your best is different from everyone else’s best. You were always aware of this fact, and nothing is going to change that. But you will get better with dealing with this and hopefully they will too.

Tumblr media
Bucky Barnes x Reader
Request: “I love you isn’t always enough.”
Word Count: 1.8k
Warnings: Angst to end all angst. PTSD, depression, spiraling, fighting, break up, sad shit.
Author’s Note: I meant for this to be out on Sunday because I wrote it last Monday but I forgot. Anyways this is really sad, but I'm proud of myself because I wrote the ~spoiler alert~ "breaking up to protect the reader" but its the reader doing to breaking up.
~
When it takes a century to find happiness, you thought it would stick.
From the moment that Bucky walked into your life (literally, walked into your bookshop) you knew that you wouldn't leave him behind any time soon.
There was something about him that would float around in your heart forever until you saw him again, and then the process would repeat.
The first 6 months of your relationship was a honeymoon phase. Waking up to him staring at you in adoration every morning. He stayed at your apartment every day. Cuddling in the middle of the night when he had nightmares, holding him when he was scared to touch anything.
Showing him your love in any and every way you could. Making misshapen pancakes together, and him showing you his favorite movies and books from the 30s and 40s. Pure happiness.
But there was something about Bucky that couldn't sit still. He can't live your little happy life knowing that there is someone out there.
It had caused many fights, you never wanted him to go back to crime-fighting, and he wanted to prove himself. And as much as you tried to tell him that he was already a hero, he was persistent that he had to make up for things that the man that used to live in his brain did.
It drove you crazy.
You were laying on the couch reading a book and absent-mindedly watching a mediocre television show you've seen twice before. You hear each of your locks click twice and from the weight of his footsteps and settle back down into comfort.
"Hi, baby." Bucky walks over to you and presses a kiss onto your forehead.
"Hi honey, how was therapy." You ask as he snuggles into your embrace and you put your book down.
"Boring," he exclaims as you stroke his hair.
"Boring is better than bad, I'm proud of you," He smiled at you and pressed a kiss to your collarbone.
Instead of saying the 'I love you' that you wanted to say, you replaced it with: 'I'm proud of you', 'Stay safe', and 'honey' 'baby' 'sweetheart'.
It wasn't what you wanted, but it'd have to do until your love was ready to hear it.
"I'm making pasta, when do you wanna eat?" You exclaim, wrapping your legs around his torso, and realizing that you are fully entangled in a cuddlefest.
"Maybe an hour, I'm never hungry after Dr. Raynor."
You nod and can tell he understood your response.
You hold each other in blissful peace, eat your food, and go to bed. Bucky does things a certain way to sleep. He wraps his body around yours and sleeps closer to the door, so if someone tried to attack he could protect you in an instant. When he can't sleep he goes into the living room and lays down on the floor to watch tv. He's never slept comfortably before, so it's hard to sleep in safety.
Apparently, tonight was one of those nights. You woke up in the middle of the night to an empty bed.
You reach over and notice that the bedsheets are sweaty and his shirt is on the ground near the door. Bucky was fine with his arm around you, it took some time to show him that he's worthy of love- prosthetic included.
You walk towards the door wearing only one of Bucky's shirts and underwear with little flowers all over it.
"Hey Bucky, are you okay..." Your voice trails off when you notice Bucky staring at the tv with hollow eyes and an unrelenting gaze. "Baby what's wrong?" You slowly walk closer to him and place your hand on his shoulder, even though all you want to do is run to him and hold him.
At first, you think that he doesn't notice until he turns around and shows tear-brimmed eyes. "He gave away the shield."
He can't seem to say anything other than that, so you reach over and hold his face to your neck. You help him get up and walk over to your room and your bed, not bother to pick up his bedding or turn off the tv. You lay gently down in bed, and hold him close to you and let him sob into your chest.
The next day Bucky's acting odd, to say the least. But you don't push it, he's been through enough in the past 24 hours. Finding out that the pretty much only constant in your life was in the hands of a stranger isn't something you can take lightly.
He left in the morning and he didn't come back until late at night. When you ask him where he was he shrugged and ate a single-serving pizza in a record three minutes then went straight to bed, leaving you eating leftovers by yourself in the dark. Not exactly the perfect day.
The same happens for the next 2 days, and then the next day he doesn't come home, and all you get is a text that he'll be home back Sunday. That leaves you with paralyzing fear for the days he's gone, and when he comes back to you at 3:30 in the morning he has a black eye and knuckle-shaped bruises all over the parts of his body you can see, which is no small feat considering the super-soldier serum pumping through his veins.
"Where the hell have you been Bucky?" You yell once he's sat down on the couch like nothing ever happened.
"I was doing stuff." He shrugs and clicks on the tv.
You snatch the remote off the table and turn it off. "You can't just disappear for days and act like nothing ever happened!"
He rolls his eyes and gets up, beginning to walk towards the bathroom "Don't walk away from me! You don't get to walk away from this!"
He turns around and glares at you with the gaze that you've seen him use plenty of time at guys who were checking out your ass at bars.
"Why the hell can't I?" He spits out and towers over you.
"Because this is a relationship and you can't walk away whenever you want to and expect everything to be fine!" His anger doesn't intimidate you. "What the fuck did you expect me to do? Bake you cookies and shampoo your hair when you got home?
I'm not your bitch and you're not a liar, so tell me what's going on." You exclaim, hoping that he'll tell you something other than what you know is really going on.
"I was out with Sam."
"Oh my god," you sigh, turning away from him.
"There's this group called the flag smashers, and they're trying to cause a revolution or something," you run your hand through your hair, "and the new Captain America was there, and he's not a good guy, so me and Sam were-"
"No. No Bucky no." He seems slightly taken aback, but what honestly was he thought was going to happen.
"I don't care if you run around beating up bank robbers or making amends for things you didn't do, I do care that you lied to me about something that could've killed you."
"I know it's just-" He says, scratching his head with his metal arm.
"It's just what? That you want to help people? There are plenty of things you can do to help people other than getting beaten up Bucky!"
You take a deep breath and think it through more, "you know what, I'm blowing it out of proportion, you were just trying to help Sam and you were scared, let's just talk to Dr. Raynor and figure something out tomorrow."
You turn to go to bed and notice that Bucky isn't following "what's wrong?"
Bucky takes a deep breath "I'm not seeing Dr. Raynor anymore."
You turn around, angrier at him than you've ever been, "what?"
"John, the new Captain America, wants me to be focused on the mission, and therapy is just a distraction."
You can practically feel anger boiling through your veins. "Do you even hear yourself? You sound crazy. I would be fine if you went on missions or teamed up with Sam, but you can't stop going to therapy Bucky."
"Yes I can; the whole point is that I can make my own decisions. It's my choice." Bucky exclaims, yelling at you louder than you thought he ever would.
"Okay. If you think that making decisions is about ruining your life because you can, go ahead." You look him straight in the eyes, all fear gone. "you can quit therapy and implode all the progress you've made" you take a deep breath "and get out of my house."
Bucky drops all of his anger and steps back in shock and fear. "What?"
"I'm not going to let you ruin your life Bucky. When I met you, you wouldn't even let me see your arm. I've realized, that you are dependent on me, and that's not okay Bucky, because you deserve better than only having one good thing."
You were holding back tears, but in this moment you needed to help Bucky, and the only way to do that was to make sure he would be okay. And he can't do that if you are the only thing in his life. "You had nothing for 70 years Bucky, and now that you have the whole world you can't keep holding on to one person. You lost Steve, and then you were desperate to find something else to hold onto. You need to find yourself Bucky."
"No, no please don't do this. I- I love you." He starts crying and it takes everything in you not to run to him and hold him.
"Love isn't always enough Bucky." You turn around to leave your apartment in the middle of the night, "I love you more than anything, but I can't let you ruin your life. Go back to therapy, Buck, I'll be here. I'll wait. Go live the life you finally have Bucky. I love you."
You walk out your door and the second you close it you start sobbing. You wander out into the street and wonder if you did the right thing.
You hoped and you begged and you pleaded that Bucky would discover the world that he deserved. You wouldn't abandon him, you would make sure he stayed alive, he just needed time to be free. This wasn't for you, you reminded yourself, it's for Bucky.
Always for Bucky.

Kinktober Day 25: Roleplay - @becs-bunker
Tumblr media
“What’s the special occasion?” Kara smiles, taking the box wrapped gift from you. “Did I forget my own birthday?”
“No, Kara, I promise you didn’t forget your birthday.” You giggle at her, waiting for Kara to lift the lid of the box. “If it’s for anyone, it’s more for me than you.”
Playing with your fingernails, you bite your lip in anticipation. You just hope that she likes her gift and wants to play with you. Kara lifts the lid and pulls back the deep red tissue paper, revealing a Supergirl suit. A shocked look on her face but you speak before she even has the chance to.
“I was thinking maybe you could wear this, you know I always say that you look like Supergirl and I think we could have some fun. It’s okay if you don’t want to. It’s just something I’d like to do. With you.”
Her face visually relaxed, as if a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders. “I thought you were insinuating that I was Supergirl.”
“Don’t be silly, Kara! You’re way hotter than she is. Everyone in the world loves her. I get you all to myself.” You accentuate your words with a sweet kiss, fingers mindful of her hair, her perfect bun that has taken her half the morning to do. “So… would you wear it for me?”
Pouting, your bottom lip juts out and your eyes rapidly blink, you silently plead with her. Kara looks between you and the suit. She’s conflicted but she takes another look at your face. You know that her mind is already made up.
*
Kara pulls her glasses down the bridge of her nose and takes a peek through the door. She isn’t disappointed when she sees your whole body burning, aching with desire. She sees how conflicted you are, how you so badly want to shove your hand down your pants and get off just before Kara comes into the room. She’s tempted to show you, tell you the truth but she knows that she won’t be able to keep you safe if she does. Shaking her head back to the present, Kara dons on the fake Supergirl suit to appease you, the small heels clicking against the wooden floors.
“Oh yeah, so much hotter than Supergirl.” You say, squeezing your thighs together when she enters the bedroom, the suit hugging her figure. But you moan when you see the skirt on her, flowing just below her ass cheeks. The boots you bought were a lot higher than you thought, stopping halfway between her thighs and her knees. “Wow.”
She left you speechless. She was just so beautiful.
“Yeah? You think I look good, baby?” She posed before sauntering over to you, pushing you down to sit on the edge of the bed so she was straddling your hips. Her fingers trailing over your face, cupping your neck to hold you close. You do nothing but nod and wait for her following motions, smiling against her lips when she presses them to yours
Whining when you grab hold of her thighs, you notice that - when your hand travels up - Kara isn’t wearing any panties. You squeeze her lower cheeks together before pulling them apart again, your fingers sliding through her wet folds, only just grazing her clit.
She climbs off of you, softly commanding you to get higher onto the bed. You lay back, pulling your pillow under your head, watching her as she pulls your jeans and underwear down your legs.
Kara pushes her glasses further up her nose, rejoining you on the bed between your thighs. Your legs fall open, eagerly inviting her to do with you as she pleased and you were very happy when her lips suction around your clit, leaving you breathless.
She looks at you through her glasses, an innocent look in her eyes but you know different, you see different, especially when she is doing everything in her power to make you come as she eats you out, licking up every available droplet of your arousal.
Kara has you in tears, so close to the edge and she knows it. You have done this dance so many times but you hope that your words will convince her to give you what you want. “Please, Supergirl, please. Save me, make me come.”
Kara smirks, her tongue licking over your pussy lips before her fingers sink into your cunt. Your whole body shivers at her ability to pull you to the edge so quickly. Fingers knuckle deep inside you, Kara pumps her fingers in and out of your pussy, curling them inside you and finding that sweet spot.
She continues to lick and finger your pussy until you can’t take it anymore. Your whole body explodes and you come all over Kara’s face. Seeing it drenched in your juices when she pulls away from your cunt, you groan and pull her up to your face, pressing your lips to hers and moaning when you taste yourself on her tongue.
Wrapping your leg around Kara’s leg, you gain the leverage you need to overpower her so she’s below you. She laughs, blowing out a puff of air as her back hits the mattress. You kiss her again, your lips leaving goosebumps along her cheek and her neck. You hike her leg up and she instantly wraps it around your waist.
“You wanna ride me, baby. I can feel you dripping on me.”
“Supergirl wants me to ride her?” You begin, rotating your hips. “The hero gets what the hero wants.”
Displeased that you had to pull away from Kara, you make quick work of pushing her legs apart and straddle one of her thighs, pulling the other leg up to rest over your shoulder, the cool leather of her boots a contrast to your heated skin.
You line up with her entrance, your clit hovering over hers before you push down, grinding your wet pussies together. Her hand travelling up your shirt, fingers latching on to your breasts and giving them a squeeze.
“So perfect, Y/N.” Kara rutted up into you, her hips not letting yours do all the work. Her thrusts mingled with yours makes your mouth fall open and squeal. You continue to rub your clit on hers, your stomach cramping as the coil inside you starts to wind tighter and tighter.
“Ahh, Supergirl. Yes! Oh, fuck, I’m coming!” Moaning, you hold onto Kara’s leg, as if your life had depended on it. You reached your climax with a stutter in your hips but you refused to leave Kara without an orgasm and you were determined to make her come.
Her leg slips from your shoulder and you take this opportunity to fall to your stomach, one of your arms wrapping under her thigh, your fingers pressing to her clit but you knew that it wasn’t enough to make her come. You sink one finger in her pussy, opening her up, then it was two, then three. You stop at three fingers, her pussy clenching around your digits, slowly stretching her out. You push your fingers in and out a little faster, pumping them in time with your fingers on her clit.
Mewling at your fingers working in tandem, she begins to quiver and you know that she is getting close. It is in that moment that you realise that you haven’t had the pleasure of tasting her yet. Not today anyway. And not in this outfit. You couldn’t wait so you dove into her pussy head first, tongue sticking out and flattening it against her wet cunt. Rolling your eyes to the back of your head, the sweet smell and taste of her lingering on your tongue every time you pulled away.
“You taste so good, Supergirl. Are you gonna come for me? Come on my face, my tongue, my fingers?” You murmured in between each stroke of your tongue, each pump of your fingers.
You gave her everything you had and she returned it when she came, the huge wave crashing over her, sending her over the edge and beyond. Her juices coat your tongue, running down your chin, trying to slurp up the rest of her arousal that she has to offer.
“Wow.” Kara breathes, her whole body going lax and you can’t help but laugh at her, trying so hard to pull yourself up into her arms.
You were comfortable enough to drift off into a peaceful sleep, satisfied and sated.

Avoiding your dearest friend turned worst enemy is significantly more difficult when you’re under house arrest in her apartment.
She’s fairly certain there are laws against cruel and unusual punishments and yet still they have decided that forcing Lena to spend two months locked in to Kara Danvers’ apartment with what is essentially a killer shock ankle monitor is somehow justified.
“You tried to mind control the world,” Kara supplies, unhelpful as always. “I tried to save the world from itself,” Lena corrects.
Kara just rolls her eyes and tells her to have a good day before leaving for work. Something she still gets to do every single day while Lena is stuck here, alone.
Apparently being an “evil Luthor” means you can’t be trusted around anything more advanced than a microwave. They even shut off Kara’s internet and cable just to be safe. (As if they could really stop Lena from accessing the internet if she wanted to. She just hasn’t wanted to yet.)
So Lena tried to brainwash the entire world, and? She wasn’t Lex, it’s not like she was seeking power or destruction. She wanted to help people – everything she has ever done in her life has been to help people. It’s just that sometimes helping can seem a little evil to people if they lack the right perspective.
Sadly, the DEO does not have the right perspective, and their first vote was to toss her into their highly illegal prison system and lose the key. The only thing that saved her was Kara Danvers, ever earnest in her façade, who argued that Lena could be redeemed. That Lena deserved a second chance. Somehow, that actually worked on the idiots in charge, and instead of vanishing into a system she’d never escape she found herself left alone indefinitely, living on her friend’s couch.
Her former friend’s couch.
Everyone keeps telling her how lucky she is to stay in a nice apartment with all the comforts of home, barring any communication with the outside world and an ankle monitor set to kill if she tries to leave. Better than a jail cell, right? Lena would disagree. She spends every day with the woman who betrayed her in every feasible way, and who is the sole decider of when (or if) she’s allowed to be free again. She’s in Hell.
--
Kara comes home late. It’s the fourth night in a row she’s shuffled into her own apartment well past nine, her head down and shoulders scrunched, acting like a teenager who is far past her curfew. Lena barely even looks up from her book. “Hey,” Kara says softly, and Lena merely hums in acknowledgement. From the corner of her eye Lena can tell Kara’s just lurking at the door, shuffling on her feet trying to decide what to do before finally just heading to the table to put her things down. Lena is hyperaware of her every movement as she stares blankly at the page before her. She tracks Kara as she takes off her coat, as she slips out of her shoes with a small sigh, as she falls into the chair beside the couch. She always sits there these days, close but not too close. She never sits on the couch by Lena, which she’s thankful for. Lena has no privacy, but at least the space she sleeps on every night is hers. As much as anything is hers anymore.
She was allowed a single suitcase of clothes that the DEO carefully scanned for devices, most of which were tossed. She’s a technological genius - of course her entire wardrobe is outfitted with devices. Her toiletries and personal items were purchased for her after they discovered her toothbrush from home could double as a laser knife (it always had that ability, in her defense. It wasn’t for an escape attempt). She has an old National City sweatshirt that is hers alone, a handful of her favorite books, and she has this couch that only she ever sits on. That is the entirety of her property now. She tries not to dwell.
“Did you have a good night?” Kara asks. She’s still trying, even after everything. “I finished my second reread,” she says, holding up her book. “Then spent most of my night reminiscing on all the stories I once had that were stolen from me.”
Kara sighs. “Like I said, if you write down some books, I can get-” “I’d like to go to bed now, I think,” Lena punctuates her words by slamming the book shut. Yet still, Kara just sits and stares at her in that thoughtful way she always does that drives her absolutely batty. It takes a throat clear and a careful eyebrow lift for Kara to get the message and jump up with a stuttered, “Oh! Right yeah, of course,” and shuffle to her side of the open-space loft. As if moving those ten feet make up for the lack of walls, lack of privacy, lack of freedom. Like she doesn’t sense every move Lena makes as she stretches off the couch to grab her blanket.
It’s been days now of this terrible shuffling and still Lena doesn’t understand. Why does Kara even want her here? Kara, who hated her so much she faked a years long friendship just to stay close and watch her. Who asked her boyfriend to spy on her, who lied and manipulated her to the point that she murdered her own brother to keep her safe. Why keep a liability like Lena around?
Why did she fight for Lena to stay under her watch, to have yet another chance after everything she’s done? Nothing about this made sense, and that alone was enough to rattle Lena’s nerves. There had to be a reason. “I put out fresh towels, if you need one,” Kara offers weakly from where she sat on her bed. She looks small and subdued, hands in her lap and shoulders hunched, and worst of all she’s wearing the glasses. Pretending, even here.  It doesn’t make sense.
She can feel Kara watching her from her bed as she goes to wash her face but she doesn’t bother to shut the door. Why bother? She’s Supergirl. She can see through walls if she wants. The thought is a strange one to have while standing in a bathroom, but the moment it hits it begins to spread like a paint drop in a puddle of water.
A slow expansion of chaotic thoughts, scattered and overtaking until it’s all she can see. Why does Kara want her here? She thinks about their every interaction, about the ways Kara’s eyes linger on her lips, her chest. The way jealousy radiated off her when she met Jack Spheer. The ways Kara would grip her arms, hold her close against her.  And suddenly, like a switch shifting in her brain, it makes sense. Her breathing is coming fast now as memories cascade through her mental vision of every moment they ever spent together. Of a woman who never trusted her enough to tell her the truth, but lusted enough to keep her close.
“You okay in there?” Kara asks, and Lena can see her reflection in the mirror, watching her from where she sat on the bed. She can see the concern in Kara’s face, the way her eyes drift down briefly to Lena’s heaving chest before jerking back up to her eyes. Slowly with great focus, Lena calms herself. Careful breathing to bring her back to this moment of her, here, trapped with Supergirl’s eyes on her. She stands up a little straighter, puffs her chest up just a bit, acutely aware of her choice of undershirt without a bra. Acutely aware of how Kara’s eyes drift yet again only to look away.  For the first time since this hellish chapter of her life began, some semblance of control shifts back into place within her. “Oh, yes,” she says, voice low and sultry in that way that always causes a reaction -and based on the red in Kara’s face, it’s effective -
“I’ve never been better.”

17 for the prompt list thing 💗
Thank you for sending me a prompt!!
I am almost 200% sure this is the 17 you were talking about lmao
This turned out a lot more angsty than anticipated and this is my first time writing action so bear with me (it was great practice)
“You promised me a cookie.”
“What?” Lena looked up from her laptop, surprised by the sudden appearance of Kara--no, not Kara, Supergirl--standing on her balcony, wringing her hands looking less than super.
Lena focused her attention back to her computer, trying to ignore the pain and resentment that ate away at her insides. She must keep her composure. Luthors show no pain. “I owe you nothing.”
Supergirl took a few tentative steps into Lena’s office. Lena closed her laptop and turned her chair towards her, crossing her arms.
“You said if I tried those,” Supergirl scrunched her face in disgust in the exact same way Kara did a few weeks ago, sending a shot of pain through Lena’s heart, “brussel sprouts, then you would give me a cookie.”
“I promised Kara Danvers,” Lena said with as much ice as she could muster. She turned her chair back to her laptop, setting her hands on the cover. “Besides, her and I had a falling out. Now, do you have a real reason to be here? I don’t have time for idle chit-chat, I have work to do.” In all honesty, Lena was just about to pack up and leave for the day, but if she had to stay another hour to prove her point, she knew she could find something to do.
“Lena, I-”
Lena spun her chair back around in annoyance. “You what?” Lena had a long day of meetings with less than compliant business men who seen her as no more than an incompetent woman. She did not have the mental energy to deal with whatever it was Supergirl had to say.
But Supergirl no longer had her attention on Lena, her eyes instead focused outside, eyebrows furrowed.
“Get behind me.”
“If you think-”
“Lena, now is not the time to argue. There’s something out there. You need to get behind me.” Supergirl took her eyes off of the balcony to look at Lena with pleading eyes.
Lena bit her lip and glanced outside just in time to see a massive tentacle slither up the side of the wall. She quickly grabbed the gun she kept in her bottom drawer and took place behind Supergirl.
“What the hell is that?” Lena whispered as three more appeared.
“Not good,” Supergirl answered, raising a fist as the rest of the alien dragged itself fully over the balcony. Her other hand went to her ear. “Alex, Alien spotting at L-Corp. It's a big one.”
If not for the eight tentacles that protruded from various places on his body, Lena wouldn’t guess he was out of the ordinary, his face clean shaven and his hair sitting haphazardly atop his head. His mouth twisted in a crazy smile as his eyes flitted between Supergirl and Lena.
“Supergirl,” the alien spat. “Let's make this easier for both of us. Stand down.”
“You and I both know I won’t do that.”
The alien shrugged, each of his eight tentacles shifting upwards just a little. “Worth a try.” Without hesitation, all eight appendages rushed forward, shattering the glass that stood between Lena, Supergirl and the massive alien.
Supergirl managed to burn four with her heat vision, but there was only so much she could do with the flurry of limbs that filled the office. One of the remaining tentacles slammed into Supergirl’s side, sending her sailing across the room and through a wall, leaving Lena completely vulnerable.
Lena raised her gun, her palms sweaty and arms shaking. The alien, no matter how terrifying, had the eyes of a human and despite what many slander articles against her would say, she would never--could never--kill a human being.
Her hesitance nearly cost her her life.
The gun clattered to the floor as the alien raised her from the ground, the tentacles unpleasantly slimy against her skin. He squeezed her like a boa constrictor squeezes a mouse right before eating it. “I can snap you like a twig, you know,” he said with a twisted smile. “But you’re wanted unscathed. That doesn’t mean I can’t have some fun.” He tightened his grip.
“Kara,” she rasped, her vision going black.
--
Ringing. An awful persistent ringing. Lena slowly opened her eyes to meet the sight of her office completely damaged; her couch flipped upside down and her desk where her door should be.
A flash of light brought her attention to Supergirl head to head with the alien, her face set in a determined line. Lena could tell her endurance was waning by the slump of her shoulders and the harsh rise and fall of her chest.
Her gun. She needed her gun.
Lena spotted it half hidden behind the leg of her coffee table which had been shattered like her windows. Taking a deep breath, she tried to stand, but it was no use. Her knees buckled under her at the sheer pain that shot through her abdomen and back. She looked to Supergirl--to Kara--who was fighting for their lives and decided she needed to do this. She needed to push through the pain.
So she crawled. She crawled as her body begged her to stop. She crawled as her hands and knees were torn apart by the shards of glass that litter the floor. She crawled until she reached the gun just in time to see Kara get lifted up in the same fashion Lena was not minutes earlier.
Kara used her heat vision on as many tentacles as she could but there were too many. She cried out in pain as the alien squeezed at her midsection.
Lena swung the gun around and pointed it at the alien. She had the advantage of surprise. He wouldn't have time to defend his human-like body with his tentacles.
This time without hesitation, Lena pulled the trigger, lodging a bullet in the aliens right leg. His grip slackened, releasing Kara, who hit the office floor with a thud. His knee buckled, nearly causing him to lose his footing. For extra measure, Lena shot the other leg, sending the alien sprawling to the floor with a cry of pain...or rage, Lena couldn’t tell.
Kara lied on the ground motionless, her cape draped over her like a blanket.
The alien shot Lena a look of pure hatred. “A couple bullets won’t stop me, Luthor.”
She raised her gun again, pointing this time at his heart. Or at least where his heart should be.
“Don’t try to play the hero,” he said, using two of his non-burnt tentacles to hoist him up in makeshift legs. “You and I both know you wont pull the trigger.”
Lena swallowed the lump in her throat, and glanced towards Kara. Her former friend who got roped into this mess trying to rekindle their friendship all  because Lena was too hard-headed to forgive her.
Narrowing her eyes, she gripped her gun more tightly. “I promised her a cookie, and she will get one.”
“Wha-?”
Two shots in the chest sent him on his back, his face forever frozen in a look of shock and confusion.
“Secure him, I’ll check on Lena,” Alex said stepping around the desk that blocked the doorway. Behind her, half a dozen DEO agents filed in, guns raised and pointed towards the alien.
Lena dropped her arms, watching in shock as Alex knelt in front of her, saying something.
“What?”
“I asked if you were alright.”
“I-yes-Kara-”
“Kara will be fine, are you hurt?”
“My stomach…” was all Lena could say before passing out once again.
---
Lena awoke to the sound of beeping and one thought.
Kara.
Her eyes flew open as she searched for any sight of the alien that attacked them. She then noticed that she no longer stood in her office. She was at...the DEO? She scanned her surroundings more thoroughly, spotting beds like the one she lied on and unused monitors like the one that beeped loudly in her ear.
She thought back to what she remembered last.
The alien picking up Kara.
Her shooting the alien's legs.
The alien towering over her.
The alien falling even though she didn’t shoot him…
“Alex!” Lena called sitting up and immediately regretting it as pain surrounded her abdomen, nearly causing her to black out again.
“Lena, what are you doing?” Alex rushed into the room, checking the monitor before giving Lena a reprimanding look.
“Is Kara…?” Lena thought back to the sight of her lying on the ground. She couldn't be…
“She’s fine and you will be too if you don’t try to sit up anymore.” Alex took one more look at the monitor, and went to head out.
“Can I see her?” Lena called at her retreating form.
Alex turned, her lips pressed together in a straight line. “She doesn’t need the stress of another fight,” she said with a bit of a bite. “She overexerted herself trying to save you.”
Lena looked down to her hands, fiddling with the blanket. Alex had every right to be angry with her. She had said terrible things to Kara in the past few weeks. Things she wished she could take back but can’t. It would probably be best if she just-
“Alex?” Kara’s voice floated through the med-bay doors and not soon after Kara appeared, still donned in her Supergirl apparel.
Lena’s shoulders sag in relief at the sight of Kara who looked much better than the images her mind imagined.
Kara rushed to her side, looking at Alex. “I thought you said she was alright?!”
“She is.”
“Tell that to all these cuts,” Kara said, examining Lena’s arms and hands, “and that big bandage around her waist!”
“Kara,” Lena said.
“Alex, have you gotten her an CAT Scan? She could be bleeding internally!”
“Kara.”
“And what about this big gash on her forehead? Does it need stitches?!”
“Kara!” Lena yelled, finally getting Kara’s attention. Looking into Kara’s worried eyes, Lena smiled. “I’ll be fine, I can barely feel it.”
“But-”
“I’m fine.”
“Oh thank Rao,” Kara breathed, wrapping Lena up in a fierce hug that did nothing to ease the pain in her abdomen.
“Easy Kara,” Alex warned, looking to Lena with a look that basically said ‘if you hurt my sister, I’ll hurt you.’
Kara pulled back with a sheepish smile. “No hugs. Noted.”
“I wouldn’t completely write out hugs. Just make sure they're not so...intense,” Lena said with a small smile, feeling some of the familiarity they had before their fight. “Now, about that cookie…”
Kara’s face broke into a radiant smile and for the first time in a while, Lena felt hope that maybe, just maybe, her and Kara could rekindle their friendship. It would take time to heal and many apologies, but Lena had hope.

How Did I End Up Here ? Ch3
When things slip away it's not always that obvious. It all comes soflty. Sometime you don't realize that you're breaking down before you've lost the pieces.
Ch 1  //  Ch 2  //  Ao3
Maybe she has hit her head harder than she thought. Lena knows that concussions usually happen few hours after the shock and not two days later, but she wouldn’t put it past fate to play yet another trick on her. Or maybe it is a fifth dimension being messing with her. Hadn’t Kara talked about some man from this dimension being able to bend the universe to his will? Whatever it is, she cannot figure out why of all things Kara would say that.
It’s not logical.
“What?” the word leaves Lena’s lips before she can stop it. She doesn’t understand Kara’s reaction.
She knows she looks bad. Poor Jess dropped all the papers she was preparing for the meeting with the investor when she saw her boss walking in. Battered. That’s the word she used once the initial shock had passed. And she had kept a close eye on the young woman since then, regularly finding excuses to walk in office, using the intercom to ask for her approval, and so on. But Lena isn’t surprised by the older woman mother like comportment, after all they have many hours working together. Now that she thinks about it, she should really give Jess a raise for still working for her after all the assassination attempts, her brother’s manipulation, and the daxamite invasion.
“Lena.” Kara reaches for her hand but stop midway, as if thinking better of it. “What happened to you?”.
What happened? Lena bristles internally.
What about discovering that the whole new life she has built in National City was based on lies? Or all the people stealing glances whenever she goes outside, waiting to see if she will finally turn out evil like the rest of her family? That the friends she thought she had finally found were never hers, but Kara’s and that they simply tolerated her? What about her brother using her again, knowing the young woman was so desperate to be accepted that few scraps of attention from him would have be at his beck and call? And how could she explain the sleepless nights spent grieving all what could have been with her sweet Kara Danvers, her little walking sunshine, for it to be replaced by Supergirl’s distrust and schemes to go behind her back?
Instead of saying any of it, the brunette decides to take a deep breath. Nothing good will come out of it, and she doesn’t have the energy to fight with the reporter today.
“I fell. You know I work a lot and sleep very little. I got up to fast and got lightheaded. You can probably figure out the rest of it.” She offers half the truth. That’s the best way to get Kara off her back quickly, and there is really no other way to explain the state of her face.
“What about the cut on your palm? There is nothing in your office that could have caused it, and I don’t picture you cooking on the rare times you get back home these days” Kara counters, raising a dubious eyebrow.
“Well” Lena starts, then pause. These days?
How does Kara know she barely set foot in her apartment anymore, desperate to avoid memories of easier times? Sure, the blonde woman remembers all the times she almost literally dragged her out of office, saying something about needing sun and fresh air like all humans do. But there is no way that the she could know that now Lena dutifully avoids going back to her place. Being a young woman running a company such as L-corp, she has plenty of excuses at the ready to stay in her office at night. Thinking about her apartment brings once again memories of the incident two nights ago … then it all makes sense. Kara’s slip up, her lame excuse to come check on her, the glass shard she found once she woke up.
“You were here, weren’t you?” she says softly, as if she was talking to herself more than the woman sitting next to her.
“What? Lena, what are you talking about?” the reporter asks, eyes brows knit together with confusion.
“How could you know that I’ve barely been at my place lately?” the brunette asks coldly “you said yourself that I rarely get back home. And that is something one would expect a friend to know and worry about. But you’re not my friend Kara, and you’ve never been. Do I need to explain why again? Maybe this time you’ll finally understand”. Anger and weariness are finally getting the best of her. They have had this conversations times and times again, but the stubborn alien will not leave her alone. She will inevitably come back in her life, and every times Lena sees the blonde’s ponytail and glasses only to remember what it is supposed to hide, it reopens the wound all over again. The CEO can almost feel it throbbing in her chest. How could she have been so foolish, so blind to all of it?
“Friends do not lie to one another. They do not hide who and what they are. Because by doing that from the very beginning, Supergirl, you never gave me a real chance to choose if we should be more than professional acquaintances. While you knew everything from me and were able to weigh the pros and cons of spending time with a Luthor, all I could base my choice on was the image of Kara Danvers solely. A young woman coming from Midvale, a starting reporter at CatCo, and more importantly, an innocent human that could have got hurt because she was spending time with me.”
Kara looks at her with those big blue eyes she spent so much time looking at, tears starting to gather. And that’s all Lena need to fuel her anger. How dare she act like she didn’t know what she was doing from the very start?
“Can you imagine what it felt like for me to think that I was putting you in danger every minute we spent together? That by simply wanting to be friends, it would put a target on your back? I thought I’d get you killed. One day Alex would call me or knock on my door and tell me something terrible at happened: you’d be held hostage, you’d have a car accident, my brother’s minions would have put a bullet through your head, … And every time you would be dead because of me!” Just mentioning it is enough to bring images flashing through Lena’s mind and have her shaking with horror as well as rage. “But it was all for naught, wasn’t it? Because vulnerable human Kara Danvers does not exist. There is only Supergirl.”
She is now leaning toward the blonde. A scorpion gauging its prey. And ready to strike.
“And what a smart move it was on your side, I must admit that I am impressed. Having two personas was the perfect way to keep tabs on me, to see if what I would confide to Kara would concur with what I’d say to Supergirl. The smallest slip up, the tiniest difference, and you’d have all you ever needed to throw me in that dark place within the DEO that already has my name on it” Lena spits coldly “So please spare me the act of being worried about me now Ms. Danvers, and tell me what you need from me this time again.”
Kara is looking at her with a stricken expression. Anguish and confusion are battling on her face, showing in small flashes. Under any other circumstances Lena would bask in the fact she finally managed to get Kara utterly silent, but all Lena can taste is the bitterness of her own words.
The young reporter seems gather herself quickly after the initial shock and starts her usual rambling “Lena that’s not … why did you never tell me about all this, about imagining the worst scenarios? Rhao, I can’t imagine what it must have been like from your point of view.” The tears that had previously gathered in her eyes are now falling down freely along her cheeks and her voice is a bit strangled with emotion “I never thought about it that way, and I’m so sorry you had to deal with that on your own. I am terrible friend, I should have seen …”
“Were you at my place two nights ago?” Lena interrupts her.
“I wasn’t spying on you, I swear!” Kara’s gaze is flicking anxiously around the room “I wanted … I needed to know that you were fine. And I know that I’m nothing but a liar, a traitor to your eyes, I know that. But I need you to believe me when I say that I do care about you.”
She takes a steadying breath before explaining.
“Yes I was there, but not from the beginning. I was coming back from patrol when I passed nearby. I wasn’t spying but I used to focus on your place to know you were alright and uh … old habits die hard I guess?” Kara scratches the back of her head then mumbles something that Lena don’t quite catch about coming off wrong and sounding like a creep, then continues. “I heard breaking glass. I thought maybe it was someone breaking in and that you were in troubles so I came as fast as I could. When I reached your balcony you were standing up in front of the bookshelves. You were swaying so badly, and before I knew what was happening you were falling to the ground. I didn’t get time to catch you and when I got by your side, wouldn’t react when I called your name!”
She is now wringing her hands at the memory, seeing the scene unfold in her mind and feeling the fear constricting her chest all over again. Kara had imagined the worst while holding protectively in her arms the unresponsive woman. What had happened? Was Lena sick? Poisoned? Her breathing was fine, her heartrate perfectly normal and she couldn’t see any wound beside a nasty gash on her palm. But she isn’t a doctor and she won’t risk her friend’s life. Maybe she should bring her to the DEO to ask Alex to check what is going on? They surely would be able to help her.
The superhero then assessed her surroundings, looking for any clue she could give her sister to figure out what happened to Lena. She then realized the alcohol puddle in which the books were soaking along with glass shards. There was an empty glass on the kitchen island as well. Taking everything in account Kara has a better idea of the situation and feels immediate relief: no one attacked Lena. But it means she did all this to herself.
Knowing how angry Lena would be to know Kara has seen her in that state, the blonde decided that the best course of action is to limit the damages while pretending she never came in the first place. She picked up the books and placed them out of the puddle, she gathered most of the shards to make sure Lena wouldn’t hurt herself further, and finally she gently laid Lena on the floor. It tore at her heart to do so but there was no way Lena wouldn’t remember her fall and so expect to be on the ground. And after a last check on her, Kara left. Promising herself she would come check how Lena was doing soon but not the day right after to not raise any suspicion.
So much for that part of the plan.
Kara gets back to present when Lena snaps her finger, trying to catch the blonde’s attention.
“Yeah! Right! You were not answering but from what I could see no one had attacked you and you would be fine. I knew you’d be pissed to see me there so I decided to pretend I didn’t see.” A flash of guilt crosses the woman face before she adds softly “I lied to you again. I’m sorry Lena.”
Lena was expecting to feel enraged. She had been right! Kara was there, keeping an eye on her, and went as far as coming into her home knowing she wasn’t welcome there anymore. But the reporter’s apologies had somehow managed to ring true for once and Lena didn’t see the point into fighting over this. All she felt at the moment was exhaustion and the need for a drink. It was what had landed her in this situation but she couldn’t help it and she had more pressing matters to attend to.
“Kara, it was a one-time accident. You’re right, I don’t appreciate you coming in my apartment uninvited. Being a superhero doesn’t mean you’re above the law. However I will let it slide for this time because I’m the one who created this mess and I could have indeed needed medical attention. But don’t do it again. I’m not my brother but it doesn’t mean I don’t know how to keep a kryptonian at bay if need be.” She stands up, and watch the weigh of her strike her former friend, making her clench her fists in a white knuckles grip. Good.
She walks toward the door of her office and is pleased to hear ruffling sounds, indicating that Kara is standing as well, and that her message has been heard for once and her wish to be alone will be granted soon.
“Now if this all what you came for, I’d like you to leave. I have a company to run.”
Kara doesn’t say answer back. She doesn’t even look at Lena, her eyes trained to the floor. She simply walks out, somehow seeming smaller and defeated.
Then Lena clicks the door shut. She thought she would feel relief, even joy, at seeing Kara finally doing what she asked her to. But now, alone her empty office, she felt numb. Drained.
Maybe that’s what prompted her to open the bottom drawer of her desk and get the whiskey flask stored there. She downs a few gulps before putting it back in its place. At least now she feels the alcohol burn instead of emptiness.

“Please, Just- Be Careful”
“Please, just- be careful.” It had been days, weeks, and yet those words were still echoing in her head. Kara’s sapphire eyes brimming with tears and ruby lips holding back words dying to tumble out as she left. She had been so close to breaking down, to grabbing Kara before she could run off and just collapsing into her arms. But she couldn’t, she wouldn’t survive Kara breaking her heart again. At least, that’s what she told herself. But even she couldn’t deny that every time the blonde hero looked at her with those drowning eyes and trembling lips, begging Lena to forgive her, to repair their relationship, her heart was torn into even tinier pieces.
Lena dropped her head into her hands as the door opened, Lex sauntering in. “Sister.”
“What do you want, Lex? I don’t have the patience for you today.”
The bald man rolled his eyes at her attitude, perching on the corner of her desk.
“I have something to show you.” Lena rolled her eyes and spun her chair around to face him.
“Can’t it wait?”
“No. Let’s go.”
“You can’t order me around, Lex. We’re not children anymore.”
“Trust me, you want to see this, Lena. Drop the attitude and just trust me.”
Lena let out a fake laugh, fingers tapping in annoyance. “Trust you? Please. I wouldn’t trust you with my lunch order.”
He grit his teeth. Enough. They didn’t have time for this. “Enough, Lena. Get up and let’s go before we miss it.” The brunette sighed, begrudgingly curious as she stood.
“Fine. I have to be back for a meeting at three.” He didn’t respond, or even look at her, as he led them to the elevator and out of the building. The car ride seemed to take forever as they headed to the outskirts of the city, Lena’s brow quirking when they entered the warehouse district. “Where are we going, Lex?”
“You’ll see.”
“I don’t have the time or patience for the intrigue.”
“You’ll see.” She repressed a groan, stubbornly glaring out the window as warehouses passed them by.
Finally, finally, Lex told the driver to let them out and wait, Lena’s heels clicking on the concrete as she stepped out of the car. She followed her brother into the dank building ahead of them, holding back a flood of questions, glaring at his back.
“Lex!”
“We’re almost there.” This time she couldn’t hold back the groan of annoyance that escaped. “Patience, Lena.” He snapped in response. Cold steel glinted up above them, an odd gun aimed at the roof with a control panel extended off to the side.
“What is this?” She circled around it, analysing every bit of evidence pointing towards its purpose she could find. Nothing good.
“It’s the answer.”
“The answer for what?”
“For everything.”
“Why aren’t you giving me a straight answer?” Crashing metal beams and roofing material caused Lena to stumble backwards, arms thrown over her face.
“Because he’s lying.” The sound of Kara’s voice caused her chest to clench, head whirling back around to take in the hero.
“Kara?”
“Supergirl. How kind of you to join us. Uninvited.”
“Lex. I know what you’re up to, and it’s not going to happen.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, Kryptonian. I’m simply showing my dear sister my new product.”
“Kara! What’s going on, what are you doing here?”
“The gun, it’s mind control.” Lena flashed back to a design of her own that was called the same before coming back to the present, brow raised.
“What are you on about?” It was an accusation, telling Kara she was siding with her brother, something she never thought would happen.
“He plans on using it to make humans seek and destroy aliens. It's dangerous and xenophobic, step away from it.” Green eyes narrowed dangerously, her stance shifting and tensing.
“Don’t tell me what to do, Supergirl.” Those dangerous blue comets widened, hurt filling them. She hated the way it made her want to comfort the alien even after all the hurt she’d caused her.
“Lena, please. Just move away so I can destroy it and apprehend your brother and then we can talk, okay?”
“You’re still operating under the assumption that my last name means villain! How do you know it doesn’t patch the Ozone Layer? Or shrink the amount of pollution in the city’s air?!”
“We got ahold of the plans for it, Lee! We know what it does! Move so you don’t get hurt!” Kara wanted to shake the brunette across from her, horror at the sight of the woman she just realized she was in love with, and had been for years, was siding with the man that had tried to kill Kara and her cousin.
“Enough with the angst!” Lex cut in, “Get out of her Supergirl, before I show you the true LuthorSuper dynamic that my sister has been depriving you of.”
Kara’s eyes turned from the deep blue of sapphires to the stormy blue of an ocean in a hurricane as they moved over to Lena’s brother. “This is over, Lex. It’s not even your best plan, give up so Lena isn’t caught in the crossfire.” He barked out a laugh, sadistic amusement radiating from his every pore as he drove a blade through Kara’s trusting heart.
“Crossfire?! Crossfire! She’s not an innocent bystander, Danvers. She’s a Luthor. She’s not your friend, or a damsel in distress tied to a chair being threatened by the big bad villain. She’s my sister, and she’s standing shoulder to shoulder with me, against you.” Lena cringed at every word that left Lex’s mouth, the sentiment of the two Luthor siblings standing united against a Super going against every word she’d said in the past few years.
“Is what she’s saying true, Lex?” He wasn’t denying Kara’s claim, the way she had so vehemently a few moments ago. He was taunting and threatening and revelling in the villan image. “Is it?!”
“What’s it matter Lena? She’s proven to you she can’t be trusted, that she’s just like the rest of them.”
“Lena!” Kara cried, the battle for the woman in front of the hero
was reaching a climax. The struggle in Lena’s soul was personified right in front of her, the hero she’d longed to imitate standing before her in all her righteous glory; Lex beside her, hatred for Kara and everything she was rolling off of him in waves as his eyes burned darkly, rage bubbling beneath the surface. Both had destroyed her at some point or another, both had lied. Lex using cruelty as a shield against the hurt he’d suffered at the hands of someone claiming to be his friend, someone she could so easily become. Kara saving people over and over again despite the physical and emotional pain she’d suffered as a result to mask the anger and survivor's guilt that lurked beneath. One wielding pain to destroy, the other to protect. A choice between who she was expected to be and who she wanted to be. It would be so easy to succumb to the pain, the hurt, the anger. To let it turn her into her mother, to become her brother. “Lena, please! You know that Lex isn’t a good person, but you are! You are the best person I know.
“You’re brave and compassionate and you want to help people. I know he’s your brother, I know you want to forgive him, but please don’t let him manipulate him for his own gain.”
“Shut. Up!” Lex pulled something from his pocket, that horrid green color launching from its tip and striking Kara right in the chest. Her scream of pain wrenched Lena from her contemplative thoughts, horror contorting her face into a silent shriek as she watched Kara crumble to the ground, veins bulging against impenetrable skin in an eerie green.
“Kara!” Yes, the blonde had lied, had hurt her, and even though she’d done it with good intentions that didn’t make it hurt any less, watching the kind woman who’d been so important to her for so long writhe in pain on the ground in front of her made all of that inconsequential. “Kara!” She sped across the warehouse, heels not slowing her for a moment, hair flying out behind her dramatically. She slid to her knees next to Kara’s head, hands fluttering over the love of her life’s seizing form. Her head whirled to shoot daggers at Lex. “What have you done?!”
“Highly concentrated kryptonite. We needed her out of our hair if we were going to activate this.”
“Highly conc-“ She turned back to the alien, clutching her to her chest. “You’re going to be okay, Kara, you’re going to be okay. I’m sorry too, okay? I’m sorry for everything and I’m sorry for taking so long to say it, just please don’t die.” Blood was beginning to spread across her chest, making the symbol of the House of El indistinguishable from the rest of her suit. “No, no, no. Okay staunch the flow.” The normally level headed woman was panicking, unable to think straight as the woman she loved died slowly in front of her.
“Leave her be, Lena. It’s too late. She’s not human, and she doesn’t trust you. You and I can make the world a better place, a safer place. The only way we can do that is by making the world HUMAN.” Lena’s hands were frantically pressing against Kara’s chest as she spun to glare at him.
“You’re delusional! Kara was right and I never should’ve considered trusting you!” She brushed the blonde curls away from Kara’s right ear, pulling the comm out of where it was tucked securely and placing it in her own ear, sobbing at the sound of Alex desperately calling for her sister on the other side.
“Kara! Supergirl, please answer me! What’s going on? Kara!”
“Alex? Alex, can you hear me?”
“Luthor? What’s going on, where’s Kara, what did you do to her?”
“My brother, he-“ she was cut off as another sob tore from her throat, her lips trembling, “he hit her with kryptonite, she’s bleeding so much, what do I do?” There was shocked silence on the other end and Lena felt like screaming. “Alex, please! What do I do?!”
“Where are you?”
“Somewhere in the warehouse district, I don’t know which warehouse. Please come quick.”
“Oh I’m coming alright, and as soon as my sister is stabilised I’m throwing both you and your sadistic brother in a dark hole.”
“Tell me what to do to help her until you get here!”
“You get away from her!” The growled words ripped through Lena, reminding her of all the emotional torment she’d caused the precious woman in her arms.
“Alex please tell me how to help her, please!”
“You’ve done enough!”
“Alex, I love her!”
“If you loved her you wouldn’t have acted the way you have, you wouldn’t have let Lex hurt her!”
She cried harder at the horrible reminder of just how much of a Luther she truly was. “Kara, you’re okay.” She pressed a kiss against her forehead, hands becoming stained with her love’s blood. “I’m going to make it okay, and Alex is on her way, yeah? Kick ass Alex Danvers is coming to make it all better.”
“Oh, stop it, Lena. You’re making a fool of yourself.” And that was the last straw. She pressed a last kiss Kara’s forehead before setting her down and rising to her feet. She turned on her heel and strode over to her apathetic brother.
“You’re a monster.”
“No. I’m not. I’m doing what’s best for our planet, for our family.”
“Not only are you a monster, but you’re a fool.” Faster than Lex could blink, Lena had ripped a gun from where she’d hidden it in her suit jacket, a pocket that was designed just for that purpose keeping it safe and within reach. With no hesitation, Lena shot her brother for Kara Danvers, again.
When Alex and DEO operatives stormed the warehouse, they found Kara being tightly gripped to Lena’s chest, hand’s still firmly pressed to her profusely bleeding chest. The brunette was curled protectively around the blonde’s limp form, dark hair shielding both of their faces from the rest of the world.
Lex was collapsed next to his own invention, dark blood pooled ominously around him, clinging to his hair and clothes, a hand gun dropped a few feet from where he laid. Lena had dropped it immediately after shooting her own brother, immediately speeding back over to her kryptonian.
Alex took in the bleeding Lex and intertwined women and lowered her weapon. Several agents surrounded the man who’d caused the distressing scene, staunching his bleeding and cuffing him to the stretcher carried over to him. Danvers sped over to her sister and dropped onto the floor.
“Kara? Lena?” The Luthor woman looked up at her slowly, distress written all over her face as tears made their way over cheeks and down her neck.
“Please help her.” Alex looked down at the wound Lena’s hands were pressing against, not a single inch of fair skin visible beneath the crusted blood. So she’s succeeded in stopping the bleeding, good.
“Okay, Miss. Luthor, I need to look.” She shook her head frantically, hands tensing.
“No, I can’t move them. The bleeding was so bad.” Alex nodded once, waving over more medics.
“Okay, Lena. You’ve done a great job.” When the Luthor had first come over the comms with loud sobs and news of her dying sister, Alex had lashed out, blaming Lena for what had happened. But now, seeing the woman and how far she’d gone to protect Kara, she finally understood what she’d meant. She didn’t just love her sister. She was IN love with her sister. “We’ve got to get her back to the DEO and under some sunlamps.” The Luthor had nearly bitten off the hand of the medic who’d tried to touch Kara, so Alex put a reassuring hand on her back, desperately shoving down her own panic. The raven haired woman nodded hesitantly.
“I’m coming with.” Alex nodded her acquiescence, not daring to try and tell the protective Luthor she couldn’t accompany her baby sister.
“Alright. Let’s get her on the stretcher.” The two women helped roll the hero onto a stretcher and strapped her in, Alex having Lena straddle her and continue stifling the bleeding, knowing the woman wouldn’t be able to stop in her panic. “Let’s head out.” The DEO agents moved quickly, evacuating the warehouse with practised ease, Lena finally sliding off of Kara when they set her into the DEO ambulance and wrapped Kara’s chest tightly with gauze.
It took thirty agonisingly long minutes to reach headquarters, everyone rushing to get Supergirl properly bandaged, under sunlamps, and hooked to the proper machinery to monitor her vitals. Lena didn’t leave Kara’s side for a moment, Alex eventually leaving the two alone after a few hours of awkward silence and minimal fumbling for conversation.
After 32 terror filled hours Kara’s eyelids finally fluttered open. Her pulsing head rolled to the side only to find her view obstructed by a mess of dark hair. She struggled to raise her head to look down at the warm body curled up against her. Her heart skipped several beats when she saw Lena Luthor as lying as close to her as she could get without actually lying on top of her. “L-Lena?” She managed to cough out. The smaller woman’s head shot up, swollen and red eyes blown wide as she took in a conscious Kara.
The blonde was shocked at the state of the usually composed CEO. Her hair was a mess, the green of her eyes made even brighter due to how red her eyes were due to crying, her face paler than usual and tear tracks shined in the light of the sunlamps. “Kara?! Kara! Alex, Kara’s awake!” The blonde cringed at the way Lena’s shrieks caused the pounding in her head to worsen.
The door slammed open, a harried Alex Danvers sprinted in, nearly crying in relief at the sight of her sister awake and talking. “Kara!”
“Alex, Lena? What happened?” Lena’s head dropped in shame as Alex explained, self-loathing at the role she’d played in Kara’s injury flaring up once more.
Kara took in Lena’s demeanour and placed a finger under her chin, raising her face to meet her eye. “Lee, I don’t blame you.”
“How could you not?”
“He’s your brother, I can’t blame you for wanting to trust him. And I know I hurting you couldn’t have helped.”
Alex, taking in the scene before her, slowly backed out of the room, a small smile on her face at the sight of her sister finally in love with the right person.
“Kara…” Lena sat up fully, fidgeting with her fingers nervously. It was an odd sight, seeing the brave CEO so unnerved. “I- I have to tell you something.”
Kara swallowed, terrified that Lena was about to tell her that this changed nothing, that while she had been worried for her safety it didn’t change the fact the Kara had betrayed her trust. “Yeah, Lee?”
“I-“ Lena kept her head bowed, refusing to make eye contact with the blonde superhero. “I’m in love with you.” The words hit her like a tidal wave, nearly knocking Kara off the hospital bed they were crammed on. She froze, wide eyed and open mouthed, unable to believe that not only had Lena not told her to go to hell, but she’d said the words Kara had been desperate to hear from her for months.
“Wh-what?”
Lena slid away from her, balancing precariously on the edge of the bed. “I understand if you don’t feel the same way, especially after everything that’s happened between us, but after having you nearly bleed out in my arms, I had to tell you.”
Kara reached out, crushing Lena to her with inhuman strength in her joy, as she peppered her face with kisses. “I love you too, Lee.” Finally her lips landed on the impossibly soft ones of Lena as she poured every inch of love and adoration she could into their first kiss.
She’d go through every bit of pain again if that’s what it took to get Lena in her arms.

Long post about the reasons Lena sold Cat Co.
FYI very Anti James Olsen, and not very Kara friendly either. You've been warned 😊
Tumblr media
This makes me sad, even though it was obvious Lena would sell Cat Co. What's heart breaking about it is Lena was essentially driven away from her own company.
Remember when Kara was ghosting her at the beginning of season 3? She only came back to Lena when she needed her for something, ie. Help with Cat Co. What did Lena do? Lena FREAKING brought it!
Kara "no! Edge has Cat Co!"
Lena "no... I brought it" - Lena hesitates when she says this as though she isn't sure how Kara, who has recently been a jack ass to her would react.
She then gets more confident and says
"pretty bad ass right" - she sounds so pleased with herself and is expecting Kara to be happy.
Kara? Basically says she quit. She came to Lena for the first time in ages to rant and rave, complain and then basically ask her to help sort it and Lena DOES! But Kara seems to forget all of this and just quits het job.
Lena is shocked and is like
"well unquit!! I can't do this without you! I don't know anything about running a media empire"
Kara, like she can't be arsed and didn't just get what she went to Lena for says "well neither do I". It's so dismissive, and it's bullshit since she does know how that stuff works to a point because she was Cat Grants FREAKING assistant! Kara was waaaay more qualified than bloody James "I take pictures of my posing best friends" Olsen.
This here just proves that Lena would have had second thoughts about have brought Cat Co if she knew at the time Kara was going to quit. She clearly thought Kara would be there to help her run it.
Lena also says "how often do you get to work with your best friend" it's so cute, and so sad. Lena was looking forward to working with Kara.
Fast forward to the end of the Episode and Kara has a realisation that Lena Luthor is a God Send and did EXACTLY what Kara wanted and couldn't give a rats ass she quit and decides being a"boo hoo my boyfriend is gone so I can no longer be the person I was well established to be before he showed up" Emo is ridiculous.
So first day at Cat Co and the elevator opens up to Lena and she looks excited and then meets Eve, who to be fair (even though we know what happens) is actually the nicest person to Lena the whole time she's at Cat Co and that includes her best friend and boyfriend.
James is shocked she dared show up to her own business without informing him, he then has the gall to say they don't have an office ready for her, erm.... James? Cats office is now HER office! Every office in Cat Co belongs to Lena now. He just assumes he's still running things and says he was thinking about weekly updates. Lena who is clearly used to men telling her how to run her businesses and setting her aside tells him there's no need and she will be there every day. James again is SHOCKED his new BOSS is going to be at her the place she spent $750 mil on 😑
Kara shows up and to begin with is a little love who gives Lena a diary and basically calls her family. But then Immediately runs off the moment Lena asks her to do something.
Kara does this more than once and Lena asks James what's she's doing and James dismisses Lena's question with a snotty "she's a reporter! It's what she does!" Seriously rude!! I don't give a rats ass she didn't tell James she was turning up and she did tell Kara. She had a reason to tell Kara, she wanted to work with her and trusts her. She had no reason to tell James, she has every reason to turn up and check out the buisness and how he's running it without him or anyone else dressing it up because the boss is there.
Lena is an understanding angel and even though Kara is ignoring instructions and being rude Lena isn't rude back. When Kara pushes it past the limit Lena has no choice but to reprimand her. Kara took full advantage of Lena here, thinking she could just do what she wanted because that's what she has been doing with James running things. News flash Kara, Lena isn't in on why you ditch work every 5 minutes.
Kara realizes she's been an ass and apologizes and Lena, understanding as ever immediately forgives and they hug it out.
Later Lena tragically gets involved with James even though he was pushy and handsy when she said she didn't want to do anything without talking to Kara first, because Sister's before Misters! She dotes on his ungrateful ass and he puts her whole business at risk by meeting and working with the COL which she told him not to do. Which she is FULLY entitled to so as his boss. He of course ignores her, she gets him a TV appearence to talk with Ben Lockwood which would boost his career and putCat Co in a anti COL light but noooo... Apparently Lena has no say in work matters! Did you read that correctly? Lena has NO say in WORK MATTERS!! why didn't she fire his ass on the spot?!!
So James, only caring for his ego and wanting to be relevant since no one ever remembers he's Guardian feels that hanging out with terrorists is more important than his job as the face of Cat Co, putting Cat Co at risk. To further put Lena's business in jepordy he picks KARA the junior reporter to take his place?!! Kara?? There wasn't a fully qualified journalist with more experience available? Well that went to shit anyway because Ben Lockwood destroyed Kara in that debate.
James nearly gets himself killed, nearly gets Kara killed, nearly commits an act of terrorism without any regard whatsover about what Lena, a LUTHORS association with the poster boy of the COL would look like, no regard for her hard earned reputation and no regard for her business.
James even humiliates her further by making her look whiny at Thanksgiving dinner in front of all their friends, even though 5 seconds later his little Field Trip with the COL proves how clueless he is since he didnt even realize what they were doing. He basically praised the guy he was with and thought he was on to something. What... A... Dumb... Ass!!
Remember James also revealed himself as Guardian, a STUPID idea that serves Virtually no real purpose, but Lena was supportive because she's an angel!! But he's a dumb ass and thinks he is above the law and thought HE of all people was able to stop the DA from going through with the charges against him for being a vigilante. James ACTUALLY thought by doing NOTHING he had fixed the problem, like the authorities just forget these things?
He decides going out as Guardian is a good idea even though no one needs him to do this and he serves no real purpose as Guardian. But Lena because she isn't a moron, tells him he WILL go to prison. He insults her and says she worries to much and he sorted that issue. Here Lena finally tells this jack ass that she solved that issue and what was his response to her declaration of love and not wanting to see him go to prison or die? "If you think that's what love is, I don't want it!" And he leaves her in a corridor to awkwardly go back into Kara's loft, humiliated.
James goes all Ross Gheller and invades Lena's space at L Corp after she told him she was busy and thankfully she kicks his ass out!
He pretends to be on board with her Harun El ideas and uses this to get her into bed, only to sit up looking awkward about it while she sleeps. (Jesus my 34 brother watched this and was like 'he basically lied so he could sleep with her)
James considers using Lena's own resources to investigate her?!!
Lena thankfully dumps his ass and stops coming to Cat Co.
Now here's where its really relevant:
Kara and James basically run Cat Co without Lena to the point she doesn't even show up anymore. Harun El experiments aside, Lena no longer feels excited to be working at at Cat Co on a new adventure with Kara. Plus why would she want to see James??
Kara basically ignores Lena as Kara but she treats her like absolute garbage as Supergirl. Then returns to her as her bestie Kara. Lena was up to this point unaware she was being duped. Lena even makes a comment to Kara when she FINALLY decides to remerge as Kara Danvers that Kara hasn't been there at all but Alex has.
Lena finds out that Supergirl asked Lena's BOYFRIEND to spy on her and betray her trust which he actually does do btw, then he sours things even further between Lena and Supergirl by revealing it?? What purpose did that really serve? And NO! Do not tell me 'he had to be honest' what he HAD to do, was not break into L Corp in the first place!
Now we have Alex reprimanding Supergirl for being an ass to Lena and they come to a shaky truce.
During this time Lena and Kara get close again by trying to track down Lex and then Lena and Supergirl have a few bonding moments. Kara, however let's Lena think she's been blown up for a good few seconds!!
Now Lena finds out that Kara has been lying to her this whole time, it was Kara who treated her like garbage as Supergirl, Kara who interfered in her personal relationships. It was all the other super friends all lying to her. Etc etc. She even saw Kara burning all the pics Linda's cell so Lena won't find out. She learns all of this from Lex of all people! This just tells Lena that Kara never trusted her, second guessing why they are even friends? Realising Kara tricked her into revealing personal feelings she would Never have told Supergirl to her, yelled at her, called her a Luthor and then came back to her as he shoulder to cry on oh and let her think she had died.
Yeah..... I wouldn't want to work at Cat Co with ANY of them either. No way is Lena going to want to work with James and Kara (I know James is leaving) and be the one paying their wages.
Lena was Virtually driven from Cat Co by James and Kara even before she learned the super secret. She was never really treated with the respect she deserved as their boss, and the thing is she never demanded it, she only pulled rank when they were being jack asses and thinking they were above being told what to do, acting like Lena being the owner and boss meant nothing.
Poor Lena's enthusiasm for working at Cat Co with Kara died very early on. Mostly thanks to both James and Kara. All that joy and optimism she had? It's all gone. 😢😢
So I'm glad she sold it!

Heating Up Part 1
So... something else for you guys. I took a little pause from writing the Alex Danvers story and came up with this as I also love Caitlin Snow from The Flash :).
I assumed some stuff about how to control Caitlin’s powers. Hope you don’t mind...
Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost x Meta Reader
Summary: Reader is a metahuman and can control heat. Team Flash is in need of your help as Caitlin can't control her powers anymore and is on the loose as Killer Frost.
Word Count: 2,187
“Have you found her?” Barry asks while nervously pacing around in the cortex.
“Can you please stop”, Cisco answers, rather annoyed by Barry. “You asked the same question, like, seconds ago. Nothing has changed since.”
“I just want to know where she is, okay?”
“We all want to know where she is”, Cisco reacts, gaze fixed on the screen. The blue light shining on his face.
“Wait… what do we do when we’ve found her?”, Iris asks perceptively, watching over Cisco’s shoulder, following his every move. “What do you mean?”, Barry replies, looking at Iris confused.
“Well… she’s not Caitlin anymore as she-”. Iris is interrupted by Cisco who quickly lifted his head up and is now staring at Barry. “No, she’s Killer Frost”, as he vividly remembers the vibe he had about Caitlin. Fighting in the dark, misty woods, not being able to reach her anymore, only left with Killer Frost.
“Maybe we need to find a solution beforehand, you know, to turn her back to our Caitlin Snow”, Cisco presents because he definitely doesn’t want his vibe to come true.
“So, what do you suggest, Cisco?” Barry asks, placing himself next to Cisco and finally standing still.
“Well, what do we need to defrost Frost…”, Cisco teases with a slight grin, one eyebrow lifted, and adding an intentional pause. Because he already knows the answer to his own question.
Seeing his eyes widen, now locked with Cisco’s Barry answers, “Heat!”, as if an imaginary lightbulb suddenly turned on above his head.
“Indeed, we need heat. Cotrolled heat.”
///
Busy with cleaning the fire truck spotless, you see two guys, kinda nerdy looking, walk into the fire station, gazing around as if they’re lost. One of your colleagues walks up to them. You can’t hear what they’re discussing but suddenly you notice your fellow firefighter point in your direction. Wait a minute- He’s pointing at you.
What would they need from me? They don’t look like law enforcement or something… While you’re occupied thinking about what the reason could be, the two guys are already calling you by name.
“(Y/N) (Y/L/N)?”, the one with the long, black hair asks.
“Yes, that’s me”, you respond. Ceasing the cleaning task, you smoothly jump down from the large fire truck. “What can I do for you?”
“Are you a metahuman that can control the vibration velocity of molecules, or better said: control heat?”, he demands out of the blue. Then the other guy quickly swoops in because your face starts to radiate confusion and plain anger.
I mean, that’s kind of a personal question...
“My name is Barry Allen and this is Cisco Ramon. I apologize for his inappropriate question”, the other guy eases, now frowning at his partner, apparently named Cisco. “I work as a CSI at the CCPD and we’ve come to a conclusion that you are indeed a metahuman”. You stare silently at the two guys while Cisco whispers something at Barry like -that's exactly what I said-, scowling at him and making a hand gesture.
How the hell do they know this and why do they even want to know? you think, simultaneously trying to come up with a proper response.
“What gave you the indication that, as you just so subtly said, I am a metahuman who can influence temperature?”, you ask them, staring into their eyes stone-cold. Kinda proud of your smart counter question, you casually lean against the glistening fire truck with one arm.
“You were in Central City when the STAR labs explosion happened, right?”
“Yes I was. I was working”, you confirm, still in the dark about the purpose of their visit, now in an intimidating pose with your arms crossed and shoulders squared. When you discovered your powers you surely made some mistakes in the beginning, but those were minor accidents, nothing serious. You quickly had them under control and only used them occasionally at your job. I mean, it does come in handy sometimes. However, you stay careful as of course not the whole world needs to know.
“Well, we have noticed-”. Barry cannot finish his sentence because he is being interrupted by Cisco. They clearly do not see eye to eye on what questions to ask.
What do they even want from me? From my powers?
Watching them fight like a married couple, you hear an alarm go off. A loud noise echoing through the entire station and red lights flashing brightly. You quickly react out of instinct as you need to move out, responding to the call. You hop into the fire truck while putting on all the gear and declare relieved: “Sorry guys, duty calls!”. They silently stare at you with their mouths wide open watching you drive away with the rest of your team, leaving them behind, unable to ask what they really came for.
///
Finally… the long-lasting shift is over. Walking away from the station towards your car, truly exhausted, you bite down in a crunchy red apple. You taste the sweet, juicy flavour, lastly able to eat after the busy day you had. It’s already dark, seeing the moon shine bright. Arriving at the car, keys in hand, you notice a piece of paper on the windshield. Picking it up, now holding the note as suddenly The Flash appears in front of the car. You can’t see his face clearly because the street light he’s standing underneath is broken. He starts to speak with a distorted voice. “I need your help, (Y/N)”.
How does he know my name? you think, staring at him in silence, frowning and still holding the paper in your right hand. He continues while you chew and swallow the remaining apple chunks left in your mouth.
So it appears The Flash needs your help. He actually needs your powers to be exact. A friend of his is in serious danger. If you want to help him you need to come to the address described on the note. You tilt your head down and read what’s on the piece of paper. By the time you look up again The Flash is gone, feeling a mild breeze as he vanished. Because helping people is in your blood, you don’t hesitate. The Flash asked for my help, that’s not some opportunity I get everyday. Unlocking the door, you hop into the car and start the engine. “Let’s go to STAR Labs”, you announce as you hit the gas pedal forcefully with your right foot while gradually releasing the clutch with your left, driving off with screeching tires.
///
Arriving at the STAR Labs building, you gaze at the damaged structures. It doesn’t nearly resemble the shiny, new, high-tech building it was before the explosion. Not knowing where to go, you just casually walk inside, no security or whatever. After wandering around in the hallways, you eventually hear faint voices in the distance and start to follow the noise. Suddenly all eyes promptly turn to you, shocked expressions on their faces as you were standing there a couple of seconds in silence. The Flash is not wearing his mask, probably didn’t expect you so soon. You can see who it is. It’s the guy that visited you at work today.
It’s Barry Allen.
“Wait- What the hell... it’s you”, you exclaim, completely startled. “Okay, I’m out”, you continue since you’re still furious about their inappropriate questions and unsolicited visit at the fire station today. They crossed a line there. You’ve had enough of this weirdness and start to walk away as suddenly The Flash, aka Barry Allen, abruptly appears in front of you. “Wait, just hear me out”, he expresses with credible remorse in his eyes. Apparently they’re in desperate need of your help?
The guy with the long black hair, Cisco, starts to explain how their friend Caitlin Snow cannot control her powers anymore and is on the loose. With the help of your ‘heat’ powers you can counteract Killer Frost’s ‘cold’ powers and turn her back into Caitlin again. Or at least... they think you can. You definitely want to help them, compelled by their story, but you don’t know if this will work. “I mean… I ‘ve never used my powers on a real person before...”
///
It’s dark outside. The little light that is shining is coming from the bright, white full moon as it’s a clear night. You’re currently in the cold, foggy woods, panting because you’re running, fast. Cisco had found the location of Killer Frost, you don’t exactly know how, probably something to do with his powers that you do not completely understand yet. In the distance you see them, Barry and Cisco, as all of a sudden a shockwave of cold air hits you right in the face. Or call them by their superhero names, Flash and Vibe, who are currently getting their asses kicked by Killer Frost. You’re scared and feel your heartbeat pounding in your chest. Adrenaline rushing through your veins. You notice Cisco taking cover behind a broad tree, seeing the woman with hair as white as snow shooting ice shards at him, piercing the thick bark in the end. They’re talking- no, screaming at each other.
“Caitlin! This isn’t you! Stop!”
“Caitlin is no more, my name is Killer Frost!” she furiously answers while rapidly throwing icy fragments his way.
What if I hurt her? They’ll never forgive me for that, because Caitlin means so much to them. Can I do this?
The help you received from Cisco during your training at STAR Labs did give you some confidence. But it’s not the same, now that you actually have to do this in a real-life, and death, situation.
It cannot wait any longer as the circumstances are escalating quickly. The fight between them is rapidly heating up. No- wait- cooling down? The Flash has now reached Caitlin’s alter-ego, Killer Frost. But he harshly collides with the dirty, forest soil due to the layer of slippery ice that appeared underneath his feet, induced by KF’s cold powers. She aggressively stabs him with a sharp icicle in the leg, making him scream in agony while reaching for his shin. He can’t get away. Cisco is still pinned down behind the tree. You have to act, like right now, preventing a fatal outcome.
Sprinting towards her, you covertly roll over, making an evasive maneuver. You grab her. Arms wrapped around her tight. Closing your eyes and highly concentrating on your powers. You feel heat radiating through your body. You feel it all around you, completely under your control. Contracting your arm muscles extensively since it takes some strength to restrain Killer Frost, who’s now brutally screaming to release her. But you’ve completely blocked out every single sound that is hearable. You block yourself from everything. Clear minded, only focusing on the temperature around you. Controlling it. At a given moment you don’t feel her resisting anymore.
Did- did I… kill her?
When you cautiously open your eyes you see someone with gorgeous brown hair, very very close to you. Her eye colour not silver-white anymore, but beautiful, hazel brown and sparkling. So... this is Caitlin Snow? You’ve become speechless while you’re still holding her tight. She looks into your lost, dreamy eyes, confused, because she doesn’t know who you are and especially why your arms are wrapped around her so strongly.
“Hi- can you maybe please let me go?”, she asks with a soft whispering voice. With her question she snapped you out of your distracted state and you awkwardly answer: “Yeah… eh… sorry, I-I …”. Relaxing your arms and freeing Caitlin, you stop in the middle of the sentence while you watch her staring at her friends in utter guilt. She did this. She hurt them badly. The smirk that had appeared on your face quickly disappears. Cisco swiftly jumps up from behind the damaged tree and rushes towards you two as he noticed the situation is safe. Barry, who’s still in excruciating pain, has removed the sharp object from his leg and the wound is already healing as we speak, perks of having speed-healing powers. Standing there awkwardly, not knowing what to do since you have done your part, you watch Cisco hug Caitlin.
“You’re back again”, he relaxes his breath. Caitlin stutters. “I-I’m… so sorry guys…”, her eyes becoming watery and looking at Barry, who’s still lying on the muddy ground in pain. He sits up.
“It’s okay, Caitlin. We’re just glad that you’re okay, thanks to (Y/N)”, he mentions while they all turn their heads in your direction, making you slightly blush. Gratitude overflowing as this feeling is new to you. Honestly, saving people is kind of an everyday business for you. But this, this feels different. Hoping you can pursue these kinds of ‘superhero matters’ more often in the future, you stand there. A warmth rippling through your body, not because of your meta powers. It’s caused by the charming woman you saved today, curious what will happen between you two, as it slightly feels like you’ve found your counterpart. Literally. ‘Heat’ and ‘Cold’, opposites belonging together.

Good-Luck Kiss
~English is not my first language but I gave my best~
————————————————————————–
It was a fine Saturday morning, the heat marked the middle of the summer and what Alex wanted was a meeting with her air conditioning and an ice cream pot to dribble the heat. Unfortunately, she was too right for this, too correct to call Sam and uncheck his appointment using any excuse.     Two weeks earlier, Samantha Arias had asked her a favor. On account of a meeting could not attend one of the games of Ruby. In any other situation, Sam would cancel all of her commitments to be with his daughter but unfortunately this was a commitment of paramount importance to LCorp.      Knowing of her complicated situation, Alex offered to take the little Arias for the game, as well as to report all the occurrences of the game. Reluctantly, Samantha accepted her redheaded friend’s offer. And that’s how the older Danvers met at the Arias door at seven in the morning wearing a football shirt and blue cap.     Ruby was the one who answered the door, extremely excited about the game and led her into the kitchen. There Alex found Sam, dressed in a suit and preparing pancakes.    "I figured you might be hungry. I do not want any of my girls feeling bad after being fed badly. “     Alex sat down at the table while her friend served her pancakes and sat beside her. With a smug smile she says:     "So I’m your girl now, Sam? I thought you were going to call me to leave before making that kind of request. ”    "This can all be arranged if you want to be so formal, Alex. But I always thought you were the type that got right to the point. “     Sam retorts, and her smile grows even wider when she notices her friend’s flushed cheeks. After both feed themselves, Samantha picks up the dishes and Alex is ready to help her.     "How long will your meeting last? Not that I want to get rid of Ruby soon, I adore her. It’s just to know if you want to get her there or that I bring her home and order pizza. I’d say make dinner but I’m a danger on the stove. ”      The brunette laughs with what Alex speaks and responds.     “I must arrive to be able to follow the end of the game. Then the three of us can have lasagna. I already left the ingredients prepared in the refrigerator. And I do not take no for an answer. You asked me to buy you dinner … Well, I paid for the ingredients. ”
Before Alex could respond Ruby was dragging her out of the house with the excuse that they would be late and that she would have another time to flirt with Sam.
The game as wonderfully well, despite having ended in a draw, Alex considered a win. Ruby had made two goals and had fun what is was the reason to play. On the way back they stopped for ice cream since Samantha had not shown up. Maybe the redhead was not as lucky as she imagined.      After going to the ice cream parlor, the older Danvers accompanied her friend’s daughter to her house. Upon arriving there she realized that there was no sign of Sam so she should be at the meeting yet. Then she tried to establish a plan. She sent Ruby to the bath and ordered pizza while putting “The Young Frankenstein” on Blu-ray so they could watch.
It was at that moment that Alex realized that that movie was not there the last time she visited her friend’s house, so it could only be a new acquisition. Could it have been because she’d told the brunette that this was her favorite childhood film? No … that must be known, maybe Sam changed her mind and did not find that film to be such a bad taste anymore. Sam would not have bought the movie just because it was her friend’s favorite or would not be just friends act.     Taking that thought from her head, Alexandra went to answer the door. She paid for the pizza and took it to the coffee table in the living room. When Ruby came down, they sat down and started watching the movie. Before half of the feature film, the younger Arias had already fallen asleep. Maybe Sam was right, that movie was such a complete drug of so much boredom that only Alex could appreciate that atrocity.     And it was with this scene that Samantha was graced upon arriving home: Alex Danvers with that beautiful messy hair engrossed in a film of doubtful taste. Gently, she approached and sat down beside the agent.    "Sorry I did not meet you, the meeting took longer than I expected, much more actually. Where’s Ruby? “    The brunette asked, she felt guilty for not finding them after the game. Alex soon tried to calm her down.    "It’s all right. I’m an FBI agent, have you forgotten? I know how things can get complicated out of nowhere. Everything was fine during the day. Ruby’s team had a draw, we had ice cream, we came home, we had ice cream and she fell asleep during the movie. I put her in bed, sleeping on couches is not comfortable. ”    "Draw? But they were so ready, what could have happened … I already know why nothing worked today. It’s my fault, I forgot the good-luck kiss. “    The redhead frowned, how could it be Sam’s fault, and how could a kiss make a difference? Without understanding she asked.    "Good-luck kiss? How can this be your fault, Sam? ”    "Good-luck kiss is something Ruby and I always give before we leave the house. Wishing you a good day, to each other. When we did not do that, everything went wrong. So she did not win the game, my meeting was late and we did not have our dinner. “     "Do not worry, of course I’d love to have dinner with you any day. And I will have to refute your theory, things would still have gone wrong because you are not considering a variable, me. Without give me a good-luck kiss, I would attract to you bad luck in the same way. I’m very unlucky, when I asked my parents for a puppy they gave me Kara, just so you remember. ”     Alex talks laughing and even with his years of training and his intelligence could not be prepared for what was happening. In a moment she was side by side with her friend and in the next her face was being pulled for the best kiss she’d given in years. Even though she did not understand what is happening, Alex returned the act after all who would be dumb enough to miss the opportunity to kiss Samantha “Woman of Dreams of every straight man, every Queer woman and even a few hetero girls” Arias? At the end of the kiss, she was still shocked as Sam spoke.     “That was to compensate for the good-luck kiss I did not give you, as for your recurring bad luck … I guess I’ll have to kiss you often from now on to sort it out Ms. Danvers.”     All she could do was nod her head, thinking that maybe she was not so unlucky, after all, having the opportunity to kiss Sam not just one but several times better than winning the lottery.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I love my otp, I love this fic...and I love your url :) (lucy lane really DOES deserve better.) Alex, Sam and Ruby would’ve made such the perfect family it’s sickening afdbskjhfgbsdjfhdbh

that one high school au - kara/thea (rated t)
Pairing: Kara Danvers/Thea Queen Summary: Kara is the nicest person in all of Star City High school, so you can't not turn heads when she tutors Thea Queen of all people A/N: a mini series of random ships in a high school au - all the girls are queer on different levels
ao3 link
Kara finishes lunch a little earlier than usual to get a jump on study hall.
As she makes her way to the library she spots Iris and Lucy standing outside of the girls’ bathroom.
“I’m so happy for you!” Lucy says as she reaches up to give Iris a hug.
Iris welcomes the hug happily and pulls Lucy in. “Are you kidding me? If it wasn’t for you I don’t think I could’ve done it.”
“Oh, it was all you,” Lucy insists. “Trust me, Iris, any girl would be blessed to be liked by you.”
“I really hope she likes me back,” Iris says almost nervously.
Kara smiles to herself as she listens on, hugging the books to her chest while she walks by.
Iris notices her presence instantly and her eyes widen immediately. Lucy on the other hand just turns to notice Kara’s presence and smiles brightly at her.
“Hey Kara!” Lucy greets. “Going to study hall?”
Kara nods to the both of them shyly. To say that Lucy and Iris were pretty would be a gross understatement, because she finds them both extremely beautiful inside and out. It makes it difficult to act like a normal human being around them sometimes because she practically worships the ground they walk on. Especially Lucy, who she really admires.
“Oh my god, did you hear our whole conversation?” Iris asks with worry across her face. Lucy giggles before placing a comforting hand on Iris’s arms to pull her in.
Kara feels her cheeks redden because it’s not like she can lie. “N-no.” She stammers nervously for a moment before settling on, “Yes. I’m sorry, I was just walking by and I heard. But I promise I won’t tell her! I just thought it was sweet that you’re nervous.”
This time Iris blushes at being called out for her nerves. “This is so embarrassing,” Iris murmurs as she backs into the bathroom quickly.
It leaves Lucy standing there surprised as Iris goes to hide in the bathroom. “There she goes, I guess?” Lucy notes playfully to Kara.
Kara feels a bit guilty. “Should I go apologize again? I really didn’t mean to make her feel embarrassed. I do think it’s sweet that she likes Felicity.”
Lucy waves her hand. “No, no. Just give her some time. Felicity is like the first girl that she’s ever liked and she’s scared of messing it up. Nerves really gets to people.”
Kara is a little skeptical but she nods. “You sound like quite the expert.”
Lucy chuckles as she tucks her hair behind her ear. “I’m not an expert trust me. Either that I wouldn’t be in my own little...situation.”
Kara softens. She’s known Lucy since she’s moved there and they were good friends. In fact, they were friends before Lucy and Alex were frenemies and now friends? Kara isn't sure. “Are you still giving her time?” Kara asks carefully, unconsciously looking over her shoulders.
Lucy blushes a little bit and she nods. She thinks about whether or not to confide in Kara anymore than she already has. After all, Kara is probably the only one that knows both sides of the story, but then again Alex and Lucy are both so private with their feelings.
“It’s okay,” Lucy positively settles on. She seems to stand up straighter, back strong, and head high. “I’ll see you later today? Alex and I are supposed to work on our Biology poster today.”
“Oh, I won’t be home until late. I’m going over to Thea’s house.”
Lucy’s eyes widen the minute Kara says Thea. Kara feels her ears warm.
“Hey, Kara!”
They both turn to see Alex just turning the corner of the hallway and noticing them. She makes her way over. Lucy breaks out into a smile at the sight of Alex. Alex notices Lucy as well and tucks her hair behind her ear but still makes her way over.
“Hey, aren’t you still in class?” Kara asks curiously.
“I needed a break,” Alex lets out a breath, “you know how Dr. Lord gets.”
Kara and Lucy both suck in their breaths at the mere mention of the physics teacher.
Alex nods in agreement. She looks between Kara and Lucy almost torn about who she wants to address. Kara notices this and looks to Lucy, who has become a bit bashful under Alex’s gaze.
Kara suppresses her smile and looks down to the ground. “I should go to study hall…” she tries to excuse herself for their moment.
Alex’s demeanor suddenly changes and she looks slightly panicked. “Wait! Don't go!” She pauses and stutters at the sudden outburst. “I mean--I tried texting you--” she directs strictly to Kara. “About today.”
“Today?” Kara asks dumbly.
“After school,” Alex’s eyes flit over to Lucy briefly and Lucy also looks curious. “About the thing at home.”
Kara stares in confusion for a moment and Alex looks pleadingly at her. It’s then she takes her phone out of her pocket and checks the messages.
Alex: are you going to be home after school?
Alex: i think you should be there
Alex: distract lucy or whatever
Alex: i can’t be alone with her
Alex: kara…
Alex: kara!
“Alex, why can’t you---”
“Stop by the store for...snacks?” Alex interrupts quickly before Kara can say something definitely wrong. She smiles at Lucy, pretending as if nothing’s wrong.
Kara feels her heart pounding because this teetering on the edge of the truth is mortifying. She doesn’t know what she can or can’t say in front of Lucy right now. “I’m not coming home after school,” Kara just reminds instead, hoping that it’ll get her out of this situation. “I’m going to Thea’s to tutor her.”
Alex’s eyes widen the minute Kara says Thea. The look is almost identical to Lucy’s and Kara finds her cheeks warming again. “Come on you two…”
Alex and Lucy look at each other in brief confusion before they realize they’re staring at each other and they shyly look away from each other.
Alex clears her throat. “I didn’t say anything.”
“I didn’t either,” Lucy echoes, crossing her arms.
“It’s just...you’ve been at Thea’s a lot recently,” Alex carefully points out.
“She has a lot of work to catch up on,” Kara explains defensively.
“I know that,” Alex returns quickly, trying not to set off Kara. “I’m just wondering if maybe a little too much.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Kara looks at Alex for an explanation and she can’t help but glance at Lucy as well.
“Just...she has a Queen reputation,” Alex says carefully, glancing around her. “I just want to make sure tutoring is the only thing you’re doing.” Lucy whips her head towards Alex.
Kara’s jaw drops in shock that her sister would sound so judgmental. “Alex, you don’t know her,” she comes immediately to Thea’s defense. “She’s not really a Queen like Oliver is. She’s been doing really well. She’s diligent with catching up on school work. She’s really trying here.”
“Whoa, hey, I don’t know her,” Alex says quickly. “I just don’t want you to get taken advantage of. Like doing all of her work or something.” Alex actually looks at Lucy for agreement but Lucy looks like she wants out of the conversation.
Kara rolls her head back with an exasperated sigh. “No, oh my god, that’s not her.”
Alex is on the verge of saying something before Lucy finally interjects, “It’s true.” Alex looks at Lucy. “Thea’s always been really savvy, she just gets...distracted. I’m sure you’ve also been a good influence on her.”
Kara takes a breath, finding comfort in Lucy’s kind words. “It’s not just me…she’s really nice and funny and clever when you get to know her.”
“I get where Alex is coming from though, Thea’s changed a lot this past year,” Lucy lays down carefully, even as a small smile tugs at her corner of her lips. “We just want to make sure you’re doing good and not getting taken advantage of.”
Kara furrows her brows at Lucy because there’s something she isn’t saying.
The worst part is that Lucy clearly has more to tell Kara, but she doesn’t want to say it in front of Alex. Either it was really bad or even worse than bad. Lucy does say she’ll talk to Kara later about it, which doesn’t make Alex too happy, but Kara’s thankful that Lucy always seems to know what to say to pacify Alex’s over protectiveness. Or maybe it’s because Alex likes Lucy enough to chill out.
It’s when Lucy texts her later with
Lucy: the Queen family has a thing for blonde girls ;) ;*
Lucy: also they’re apparently great kissers ;* ;* ;*
What is that supposed to mean? Why would she need to know that Oliver and Thea are great kissers? But the thought becomes significant enough because Kara can’t help but wonder why Lucy is telling her in the first place.
“Alright, I’m tired of reading about Versailles,” Thea complains as she sits up and her seat to stretch her back. She lets out a loud groan of satisfaction before she realizes that Kara isn’t paying attention.
Usually Kara pays a lot of attention to her. It’s actually pretty...nice to have someone pay attention to her that isn’t trying to control every aspect of her life. Kara is the most genuine and compassionate person that’s given Thea the time of day. Even if Thea was a bit of a bitch to her when they first met.
It’d been the end of freshman year, when her dad (who turned out to not actually be her dad) had gone missing on his boating trip and Ollie was a mess with his dating life and her mother just changed. It was a lot for her and she coped by escaping. It was so easy to escape from the lowest points when you’re high.
That is until you accidentally stumble into Kara Danvers.
She was stumbling out from under the bleachers, smelling like cigarettes and weed, when Kara found her. The blonde didn’t even say anything and just stared in utter shock as she saw Thea. Thea knew about Kara Danvers, the puppy who couldn’t tell a lie, so she had yelled at her to fuck off and maybe threatened her a little to shut up.
Kara never said a word as far as Thea knew. She confirmed it when Kara stumbled upon her underneath the bleachers again, this time to save her. It was so surprising because up until that point Thea didn’t exactly remember if she knew Kara or not. But there was Kara, pushing Danny off of her and getting her the hell away from him.
The experience was sobering in more ways than one.
“Earth to Kara?” Thea calls out with amusement as she waves her hand in front of Kara’s thoughtful face.
Kara snaps out of her reverie. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry,” she immediately apologizes, “I didn’t mean to space out.” She reaches for Thea’s books to see where she is. “What was your question about Versailles?”
Thea giggles at her tutor. “I didn’t have a question,” she admits. “I was just going to take a quick break.”
“Oh.” Kara glances at the clock and looks at the progression of Thea’s work. “I suppose, if you want to that’s fine. Not that I have any say over that because you’re your own person. You can make a decision of when you want a break. It’d be good for you, you would know--”
“Alright, girl calm down,” Thea stops Kara’s rambling with a hand on hers. “I get what you mean. Maybe we both could use a break.”
Kara’s mouth forms a small O again and she looks down at Thea’s hand over hers, cheeks pinking at the contact.
Thea bites her lip thoughtfully before grabbing Kara’s hand to pull her away from the dining room table. “Come on, we can raid the kitchen for some ice cream,” she mischievously says. “I think we have some fudge brownie with your name on it.”
“Okay,” Kara dumbly returns, letting herself be dragged into the kitchen.
It isn’t until Thea’s pulled out the pint of ice cream and the two spoons that she asks, “So what’s going on?”
“What do you mean?” Kara asks, pushing her glasses up. She takes one of the spoons and stands opposite of Thea against the island, while Thea stands against the counter digging into the pint.
“You’ve been unnervingly quiet since we got here,” Thea points out. She takes a small lick of her spoon before handing the pint to Kara. “Did you find out more sordid things about my life?”
Kara’s eyes widen immediately and she digs out a rather large spoonful before shoving it into her mouth. It’s a bad idea because the brain freeze hits her fast and she’s gaping her mouth like she wants to spit it out but she’s clenched her mouth shut trying to shove her tongue against the roof of her mouth.
Thea just takes the pint back from Kara with a laugh as she watches the blonde struggle for a few moments.
Kara is really red now. She takes a few breaths as she looks at Thea abashed at her reaction.
Thea just raises an eyebrow at Kara as she takes another small lick of the chocolate. “So? Why are you being so weird?”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be.” Thea hates when Kara apologizes to her. “You’re not doing anything wrong. I’m just curious because usually you have a lot to say.”
“Oh...do I?” Kara shyly asks as she takes back the pint, digging for a more sensible bite. “I’m sor--” The red on her cheek deepens. “I’m just a little distracted that’s all.”
“Do you want to talk about it? Maybe help you get less distracted?” Thea closes in on Kara, reaching for the pint, just holding it with her fingers over Kara’s. A lot of people may think she’s some dumb rich girl, but Thea has enough experience to know when someone is attracted to her. She licks her lips before digging her spoon into the pint.
Thea notices the way Kara thickly swallows with the spoon in her mouth as Thea brings the spoon slowly between her lips. Kara’s eyes follow Thea’s lips.
“Kara?” Thea repeats playfully. She’s grown to like Kara a lot. Kara is kind and old fashioned, chivalrous even, which is flattering for Thea because she’s given plenty of reasons for Kara to hate her but time and time again, Kara’s proven no ulterior motive or ill intent towards Thea. She’s been her champion even.
“Hmm?” The sound almost sounds like a small whimper.
Thea has to admit Kara is also cute and adorable and super bad ass when she wants to be. It’s both inspirational and attractive. Thea isn’t going to lie, if Kara wasn’t so professional, there could be a few things other than studying they could spend time on. Thea licks her lips again, drawing Kara’s attention to them. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Kara clears her throat. “Like what?” She pushes up her glasses again, pretending as if she wasn’t staring.
“Like you want to kiss me.”
Kara’s eyes practically bulge from their sockets. She tries to play it cool with, “Pssh whaaat?” She squeaks it out. Thea just raises her eyebrows and Kara slowly but surely starts to crack. She rubs her face in frustration, pushing up her glasses to rub her eyes. “I’m totally making this weird and awkward. I just got a stupid text from Lucy that has me thinking about you and kissing you.” Kara puts the ice cream on the counter behind her with her spoon and Thea does the same.
“What did this text say?” Thea tries not to sound suspicious. She joked about sordid rumors, she’s heard them all that’s why, but hearing them from Kara always feels a bit different. She almost doesn't want Kara to be disappointed in her.
“The Queen family has a thing for blonde girls and apparently you’re good kissers,” Kara answers, red touching her ears now. “It’s silly, I’m sorry my thoughts were all over the place.”
Thea feels relieved that that’s what Kara’s heard. “Here I thought you were heard something more wild,” Thea admits shyly. “Not that you haven’t seen for yourself to be honest.” She unconsciously looks down.
“Hey, it’s fine, I don’t care. You were in a different place,” Kara says quickly to reassure her. “And rumors are just rumors.”
There are no words to describe how grateful she is for Kara. It’s made everything this past year a lot better. High school seems to suck less when you have a friend like Kara. Thea looks up at Kara, who is staring at her with these gentle kind blue eyes. She bites her lip. “So you were thinking about kissing me?”
Kara blushes. “I can go if that makes you to feel uncomfortable. I promise I won’t let it happen again the next time we meet up.”
Thea reaches for Kara’s cheek. Kara’s eyes go wide at the touch but she doesn’t move away. “Do you want to kiss me?” she asks.
Kara furrows her brow, staring carefully at Thea. She swallows thickly. “Only if you want me to,” she rasps quietly between them. “You don’t owe me anything.”
She pulls Kara down slightly and kisses her quickly. There’s a small gasp as their lips meet and Thea smiles against Kara’s extremely soft lips. As Kara slowly kisses back, jaw trembling slightly under Thea’s hand, Thea can taste the strawberry chapstick. Her tongue swipes Kara’s bottom lip to elicit a gasp and just as Kara’s tongue flicks out to meet hers,
“Hey!” Oliver’s deep voice fills the room.
Kara pulls away quickly but she has nowhere to go, pinned between Thea and the counter.
Thea just glowers at her brother, completely unembarrassed. “What are you doing home already?” she demands.
“What are you doing?” Oliver narrows his eyes at Kara, who still tries to move away from Thea but Thea doesn’t leave room for that.
“We took a study break,” Thea explains with annoyance. She clasps Kara’s hand quickly and starts to drag her out of the kitchen.
“Really?” Oliver crosses his arms. He tries to block the doorway, but Thea navigates around him with ease, dragging Kara along. “Hey! Where are you going?”
“To have sex!” Thea yells.
“Thea! We have to study!”
Thea laughs playfully, dragging Kara all the way up to her room and shutting the door behind them. Kara gasps as her back falls against Thea’s door because Thea is pressed against her front once more.
“So?” Thea looks up at her mischievously. Her hand comes up to brush Kara’s lip. “Are the rumors true?” Kara stares in confusion. “Are the Queens good kissers?”

Freaky Friday.
Supercorp, Kara Danvers x Daughter!Reader, Lena Luthor x Daughter!Reader
Word Count: 2325.
Your moms are amazing. They’re like your best friends. You can tell them anything and you probably know more about their stuff than you’d like. Still, they are moms. And moms don’t always agree with everything that their kids do. They don’t always understand – like really understand – what’s going on in your life or the things you go through as a teen. No matter how hard they try, or how immature one of them might be – cof cof Kara Danvers cof cof -.
Somedays they don’t understand that you’d rather sleep the day away instead of waking up at 7 on a Saturday to go to the farmer’s market with them. Or that you’d rather go out with your girlfriend and cousin instead of playing board games with them on a Friday night. They just don’t understand you as much as you’d like them to.
And that gives you a crazy idea. What if people just felt what others were feeling? What if when people were fighting you could just point a little device at them, so they would all understand each other's intentions and the fight would just stop? What if you could make the world have empathy?
It takes you a while, but you don’t give up. The thought of having just a little device that could bring such a noble feeling into light, it drives you to work nonstop on it.
“Baby, I’m done for the day.” Lena walks in your lab. You’re face-buried into work you don’t even hear her. She makes her way towards you, and you only notice her when she holds your head on both sides and kisses the top of your head. “Hey, baby.” Lena says softly on your head. “Let’s go home.”
“Oh, um, can I meet you back home? I’m not done.” You say, still too focused on what’s in front of you. Lena sighs, looking tired.
“I had such a long day.” She complains, pulling up a chair next to you, and taking off her heels. “I just want to go home, my love. Can’t you finish that tomorrow?”
“Not really.” You put your protection goggles back on and use your welder on the device. “You can leave. I’ll catch up.” You yell, through the noise.
“And how exactly are you getting home, not-Superkid?” She asks with another sigh. You finish closing the shell and you look at her.
“I’ll walk. Take the bus. Have momma come pick me up.”
“Or-” She takes the device off your hands. “You ride back home with me and come back tomorrow after school to finish this.” You open your mouth to argue, but she cuts you off. “Not another option. Just the single one you have. You have to eat, sleep, and do your schoolwork. Come on.”
“See, you’re the reason why I need to finish this device.” You mumble and she raises her eyebrows at you. You reach for the device, and she holds it out of your reach, studying it.
“And what exactly is this?”
“It’s, I don’t really have a name for it yet. But it’s to make other people feel what you’re feeling. An empathizer, if you will.”
“Oh.” Lena narrows her eyes at you. “Are you saying I don’t have empathy for you? So, me caring about your health and rest is not empathy, huh?” You shrug your answer. “How about you not having empathy for me when I say I’m exhausted, and I need to get home right away?”
“I do! That’s why I’m telling you to leave.” You defend yourself.
“Is that so?” She doesn’t look convinced. “Ok, I’m sold. I want you to understand the amount of pain in my back and on my feet right now, so go on. Finish up.”
Ok then. You make a little change here and there, finish building up the structure and no longer than 30 minutes later you have the device ready.
“Ok, ready to feel what I’m feeling?” You ask pointing the device at her.
“Only if you’re ready for back pain.” She agrees, and you press the button.
“Well, I don’t feel anything.” You hear your voice, and you snap your eyes open at that. You didn’t say anything. Oh, no.
“Mom?” You ask and hear Lena’s voice coming out. Oh, no.
“OH, COME ON!” You look at your body getting up from the chair, but you’re just an outsider looking at it from afar. It’s the weirdest feeling you ever felt. You look at your hands, legs, and shoes. Yep, you’re definitely inside Lena’s body right now. “I just came back from being a teen.” She cries out and you flinch.
“It’s ok. It’s not alien tech, I can just undo this.” You grab your device again and look at it, trying to think.
“Well, I mean, it does feel nice to not feel any pain.” She smiles doing a little weird dance.
“You’re being weird.” You laugh at her, because it’s not always that Lena decides to be weird. You like it. Even if it’s actually your body doing the weird dance.
“I am in my daughter’s body, so I think I’m allowed to.” She studies herself, your body, for a few seconds. She looks up to you, clearly confused. “I’m starving.”
“Oh yes. That’s like a permanent feeling. You’ll get used to it.” You wave her off with your hand. It’s true, you’re always hungry. It doesn’t matter how much you eat, five minutes later it’s like you haven’t eaten all day.
“I hate it.” She complains with her hands over the stomach.
“Well, my back is killing me and who wears heels all the time? Would you die if you wore sneakers to work, someday?”
“AHÁ!” She points at you, victoriously. “See, I told you! Aren’t you just dying to get home?”
“Maybe.” You mumble under your breath, and she puts her hands on your shoulders.
“Don’t mumble, baby. I have super hearing. It’s useless.” She smiles, a little too happy to say that, and you sigh. “You know, I would not hate having this body for another day. But go on, change us back. I know you can’t handle the pain.”
“Excuse me?” You furrow your eyebrows at the challenge. “You think I can’t go a day looking this pretty?” You point at her face -that is yours now- and you see her cheeks getting flushed at the compliment. “As if! You’re the one who can’t handle being me.”
“Being a young superhero whose only job is to go to school? Baby, please. I would kill to be you.” Lena says and it’s out of your mouth before you can even think twice.
“Well, well, well. It looks like you got yourself a bet.” You raise your hand at her, looking smug about it. No way in hell Lena can be you. Not even for a day. “First one to quit has to say that the other one has a harder life and try to make it easier, every time possible.”
“Deal.”
“Wait.” You don’t hold her hand yet. “For it to be actually fair, you have to live my actual life.” She raises one eyebrow at that. “You have to be Superkid.”
“I thought Superkid didn’t exist anymore.”
“Yeah, well. I almost died three hundred times when I was in the body you’re in now. We have to put that into consideration for it to be fair, don’t we?” It’s your time to raise an eyebrow, and you give her a little smirk. Now you’ve got her, she won’t say yes to being a superhero.
“Still.” Lena has her hand up and you hold it. “You’ve got yourself a deal, babygirl. Let’s see you try to survive L Corp with no powers at all.”
“Let’s see you try to survive high school while being a Luthor.” You give her a wicked smile to which she almost shivers.
“Are we telling Kara?”
“Yes, please. I’m not kissing her. That would be gross.”
“Oh, I-I didn’t think this through.” You can see Lena’s mind wheels spinning while she considers the bet and what she’s giving up on.
“Too late. Our deal is on.” You grab her car keys with a smile. “Let’s go home. I need to put my feet up.”
“Oh, you’re not lasting a day.” She mumbles while leaving the lab, and you look back at her confused.
“What did you say?”
“Nothing. Nevermind.” You study her face turning into a devilish smile when she realizes she can get away with lots of stuff by using her powers.
“Ok, don’t abuse it now.” You complain, getting into the elevator to go to the car. It’s only when you’re staring at Lena’s car with the keys in your hands, that it hits you. “Wait, I-I don’t really know how to drive in the city.”
“And I can’t drive with your body because you don’t have a driver’s license.” Lena says and you agree with your head. “Call your momma.”
You just text her that you need a ride, and less than five minutes later she lands next to both of you in the parking lot.
“Oh, hey love.” Kara comes closer ready to kiss you, and you panic so hard the only thing you can do it’s to yell after pushing her face away from yours.
“GROSS! Get off of me.” You duck, making Kara furrow her brows at you.
“What did I do?” You look at your momma, who looks so offended that she might cry because Lena refused to give her a kiss. Poor Kara.
“Explain it to her! You’re me!” Lena says -in your body- making Kara even more confused.
“What is happening?”
“I’m her and she’s me.” You try. She still doesn’t get it, that’s when it comes to you. “We’re Freaking Friday right now.”
“WHAT!” Kara yells in shock. “But that’s our thing!”
“How is that our thing? We never once Freaked Friday before.”
“What the hell are you two talking about?” Lena asks, interrupting your conversation with Kara. “It’s not even Friday.”
“What? No, it’s-” You look at her, confused. “It’s Freaky Friday.”
“Yeah, well, what the hell is Freaky Friday, then?” Lena asks and Kara looks back at her in shock.
“Yep, you two are definitely switched right now.” She smiles and you agree with your head giving her the car keys.
You make your way to the backseat and stare at Lena for a second while you two wonder what to do.
“You go-”
“I’ll sit-”
“Cool.” You go to the front seat with a smile. “I’m the grown-up now.”
“Yes, you are!” Kara agrees, messing with your hair, and it’s Lena who responds.
“Hey, don’t do that. You know my hair is temperamental.” She complains and Kara looks at both of you a couple of times.
“Oh, boy. This is gonna be fun.” She says looking anything but excited about this. “So, how exactly did this happen? Did you guys look into each other's eyes and say, ‘I wish I were you’?”
“No, because that’s ridiculous.” You answer and Kara looks at you next to her, looking very stung by what you said. “I made a device so you could feel what the other person was feeling. It wasn’t intentional for us to literally change bodies, but I guess that was the only way I could feel this terrible back pain mom was feeling.”
“Right. And for me to be starving all the time.” Lena complains in the back. “Can we stop to get some food before going home?”
You smile wickedly at yourself before saying, “We have food at home-” Then you turn your face to her with a playful smile. “Babygirl.”
“Ugh.” Lena rolls her eyes at you. “I didn’t know that’s how you were feeling, ok?”
“See.” You look at Kara. “It’s already working!”
“I see.” She shakes her head agreeing. “And you couldn’t undo it?”
“Actually, I could’ve if I had tried. But there’s a bet going on here, so-”
“So, you two are betting to see who lasts longer?” Kara asks, getting agreeable nods and hums from both of you. She looks to the backseat furrowing her brows at Lena. “And I’ll have to suffer and not kiss you for as long as this lasts?”
“Umm, yes.” Lena agrees, touching Kara’s arm. “Don’t worry, honey. Your daughter won’t last a day in my shoes.”
“I will!” You slap Lena’s hand away from Kara’s biceps -because you know what comes next, and it’s your body she’s in-. “I’ll just change your shoes.”
“It’s an expression.” Lena furrows her brows at you.
“And I made a pun with it.” You put your feet up the car’s glove compartment. “Deal with that.”
“Hey, take your feet off of there.”
You don’t miss a beat when you look back at her. “Excuse me? It’s my car, baby. I can put my feet up wherever I want.”
Kara parks outside your house, and you see Lena running inside the house, leaving you and Kara behind. She opens the door fast, and you see the handle coming off on her hand. You and Kara look at each other.
“You know what? This might actually be good for us kryptonians. She’ll see how hard it is to control ourselves sometimes.” Kara says and you agree with your head.
“I heard that!” Lena yells from inside the house. “I’ll learn how to use the powers; you’ll see.”
You walk inside the house and watch her devouring an entire sandwich in one bite. “I wonder how many times you’ll get grounded before you learn it, though.”
“You’re way too full of yourself.” She narrows her eyes at you, making yet another sandwich. “Let’s wait until tomorrow when you actually have to be me, to see if you’ll still be this smug about this bet.”
“And you’ll have such a fun time in high school tomorrow, babygirl.” You say ironically.
“Oh, boy.”

6, sanvers
Honestly, I think both of them would do this sooooo. I just wrote it one way but rest assured they’re BOTH SAPPY IDIOTS THAT WOULD HAVE EMOTIONAL EPIPHANIES AT RANDOM TIMES.
It’s not that she can’t sleep. Not really. She’s definitely tired and could probably sleep easily if she just closed her eyes and willed herself to. It’s just, Maggie’s in her bed and even if it’s not the first (or even the tenth) time this has happened, Alex wants to savor every moment of it.
The room is dark and quiet save for Maggie’s soft breathing and Alex turns onto her side to watch her girlfriend’s face, relaxed in sleep. Just thinking girlfriend makes her chest feel light. She curls an errant strand of dark hair around her finger and traces her eyes over Maggie’s face.
Her girlfriend. Maggie is her girlfriend. And she’s here. In Alex’s bed.
It hits Alex then, in the dark of her bedroom with this pretty girl next to her, warm from sleep, that that ache that’s formed just under her ribs for the past few months has a name. It’s a feeling she’s had swirling in her chest for weeks now, but hasn’t been capable of voicing. Here, in the safety of her bed, she feels like she could shout it and it would fill the room.
“Watching people in their sleep is creepy, Danvers,” Maggie says suddenly, voice croaky. She pops an eye open and shifts on to her side to look at Alex as a small smirk pulls at her lips.
“Sorry,” Alex whispers sheepishly, grateful for the dark of the room as heat blooms in her cheeks.
Maggie’s palm lands warmly on Alex’s hip, fingers stroking idly at the waistband of her sweatpants. “Why are you awake?”
Alex doesn’t have an answer for that that isn’t highly embarrassing so she just cups Maggie’s cheek with one hand, thumb stroking a cheekbone. “Just am.”
“You okay?” Maggie sounds more awake now, her hand creeping higher up Alex’s side, under her tank top.
“More than.”
“You sure?”
“I think I might be in love with you,” Alex whispers suddenly into the night, heart starting to beat at a ridiculous pace.
Maggie’s all awake now, Alex can tell. Her eyes go wide and her fingers tighten where they’ve stopped moving over Alex’s ribs. “You think what?”
Alex swallows. “I love you.”
“That’s the sleep deprivation talking,” Maggie says, almost like a joke but Alex can see the vulnerability all over Maggie’s face.
“It’s not,” Alex says, shaking her head. “I was just…I know what I feel.”
Seconds pass and Maggie doesn’t say anything else, just stares into Alex’s eyes, blinking in what looks like shock. “You woke me up at 4am to tell me you love me,” is what Maggie settles on, her words no more than a whisper, breathy and disbelieving.
“It couldn’t wait.”
Maggie just shakes her head a little before surging forward to press their lips together, pushing Alex over and back into the mattress. Her hands wander back up Alex’s tank top, and her kisses turn insistent and rough. Alex sets aside any further thought and gives into the scratch of Maggie’s nails down her abs and her lips against her neck.
//
It’s a boring day. National City has remained quiet almost the whole week and Maggie tries not to think anything ominous about it.
It’d probably make her happy if she thought about it, but right now it means that she’s stuck at her desk watching the minutes pass by instead of out on the streets. She taps a pen against the paperwork in front of her, rifling a hand through her hair.
She’s almost ready to commit a crime herself just to have something to do when Alex walks into the bullpen. Maggie can’t contain the way her face lights up. Not only because any excuse to see her girlfriend is a good one, but because if Alex is here that likely means there’s something for her to do aside from file reports. Maybe even something she can shoot. Like Alex’s gun. (she makes a mental note to borrow it at the earliest possible convenience)
“Danvers,” Maggie greets, standing up with a playful smile on her face.
Alex grins wide and easy. “Sawyer.”
“What brings you down to NCPD today?”
Alex cocks a hip against Maggie’s desk, shrugs a shoulder. “You busy?”
“Definitely not.”
“Want to go punch an alien drug dealer?”
Maggie grabs her coat where it’s hanging over her desk chair and smirks at her girlfriend. “You really know how to sweet talk a girl, babe.”
Alex laughs and follows her out.
They drive across city to where Alex has located the target and Maggie sits in the passenger seat, checking her gun and making sure her ankle holster is strapped correctly.
“Check the glove box,” Alex says, glancing over.
Maggie shoots her a curious look, but does as she’s told. Inside is a weapon of some sort. A gun from the looks of it, but nothing Maggie’s ever seen before. She pulls it out slowly, turning it over in her hand. Her brow contracts at the indecipherable markings on it.
“Just off field testing,” Alex tells her. “It’s a sonic pistol. And it packs a punch.”
The weight of it in her hand feels almost too good and Maggie has to resist the urge to roll down her window and test it out on a passing street sign. “You get all the best stuff,” Maggie complains, a teasing smile on her lips as she looks at Alex.
But her girlfriend shakes her head, eyes on the road. “It’s not mine.”
“It’s not?”
“It’s yours,” Alex says, pulling the car over under an underpass.
“Mine?”
Throwing the car into park, Alex turns in her seat, smiling proudly at Maggie. “I got it signed out and everything. You’re practically an independant contracter of the DEO so…I thought you’d like it.”
“This might be the gun talking,” Maggie says. “But I love you.”
Alex’s eyes go a little wide and Maggie knows her girlfriend is thinking about a few days ago, under the cover of darkness when Alex whispered the same words and Maggie met it with silence.
“Probably the gun,” Alex says, voice thick as she nods and attempts a casual smile.
“No.” Maggie shakes her head. The feeling is too big to keep inside anymore. “I love you, Alex.”
This time it’s Alex that pushes forward suddenly, hands on Maggie’s cheeks to bring them in for a kiss. The gun presses between them where it’s still clutched in her hand and Maggie laughs between kisses.
“Maybe we should put the gun away before car sex,” Maggie jokes.
Alex takes the gun and throws it in the backseat. Maggie almost reprimands her for mishandling her new toy, but Alex’s lips interrupt any complaint. “I love you, Maggie,” Alex is saying, the sound of it thrumming all across Maggie’s skin like a burn.
This time she says something. “I love you too.”

lunch date (alex & maggie, high school au)
summary: maggie @notallbusiness is being harassed by some of alex’s friends when alex swoops in to defend her. afterward, they go to lunch together at taco bell. alex swears up and down that she’s straight; maggie wasn’t born yesterday.
alex.
It had been a few days since she'd learned about her sister and Mike Matthews. She wasn't thrilled, but she was acclimating. Things with Vicky were a little weird, but other than that, nothing was too out of place. So when she found a few of her friends laughing and crowding around something? or someone? one Friday afternoon, she was a bit bewildered. Moving to join them, she called out to one with little response and ultimately made her way through. When her eyes landed on Maggie Sawyer, her heart sank, and the air fled her lungs. "Hey," she glowered, putting herself between her friends and Maggie. "Is there a problem?" Alex demanded, to which the girls gave her confused and somewhat outraged looks. "Alex, did you even look at who you're standing by?" one scoffed, to which another picked up: "Be careful. I hear it's contagious." They all laughed, but Alex just narrowed her eyes in disgust. "Finally get tired thinking about your dad's affair, Taylor?" she snapped back. "I know it must be hard thinking about him screwing a girl just a few years older than you, but that doesn't mean you have to take it out on everyone else." She steeled her arm around Maggie's shoulders and tried to coax her away from them. "Come on, Maggie."
maggie.
it's not the first time maggie's been picked on, and it certainly won't be the last. however, she rarely lets it get to her anymore. four years of torture for being gay really starts to wear off after a while. she's about to open her mouth, to say that the girl in front of her wishes it was contagious, but her thoughts are quickly interrupted. raising an eyebrow at who she knows to be alex danvers, she remains stunned for a moment. it's not every day that a popular girl - or anyone, for that matter - comes to her rescue. "uh..." she begins to say, but is pulled away before she can finish her thought. "are you... hallucinating? you know this is maggie sawyer, right?" a charming, dimpled smile appears on her face.
alex.
alex is more than happy to be away from those girls. most of them are insufferable, and the few who aren't have never felt what it's like to exactly have their own spine to hold themselves up. once they're far enough away, and she's sure that maggie will actually keep walking with her, alex withdraws her arm. "i know who you are," alex returns her smile with a playfully sarcastic look. "i would say i'm sorry about them, but honestly they're assholes who don't even matter and sorry doesn't make a difference," she sighs and stops to really look at maggie. since when has she had dimples? "are you okay?"
maggie.
if she's being honest, she's more than a little confused by alex's kindness. she's never spent more than two minutes with the girl in her life, and suddenly she's come to her rescue? it makes maggie immediately feel wary. she shrugs off alex's question, which is something she seems to do a lot of. "yeah, it's fine." it's been happening for years now, what's another time? "usually the mean ones are the ones who end up drunk at parties making out with their 'friends'." she uses air quotations around the word before rolling her eyes.
alex.
alex has... never felt more exposed in her life. all she can do is scoff, wave it off, and agree with maggie. "yeah," she laughs, her nose wrinkling a little as she tries her best to seem convincing. "totally," her mouth is dry, but she chooses to ignore it. "i'm alex, by the way," she awkwardly offers her hand. even though alex tends to hang out with more well known students, she doesn't typically assume everyone knows her by default. alex is more popular adjacent, tolerated only because her family has status and that she's is an otherwise conventionally attractive white girl. she's more intellectually inclined than most of her peers, which means she's a prime target for helping with homework and the like. "i'm not keeping you from anything, am i?"
maggie.
her lips tilt upwards slightly at alex's expression. she's cute, maggie will give her that. her smile only grows, more so in amusement this time, as she looks down at her extended hand. they both already know who the other is, but she'll humor her by taking her hand. "maggie. i do pay attention to the smart ones, danvers." it's not just that though, the smart and attractive ones tend to catch her eye. "no, you're not." although she's sure there's some homework or something she should be getting to. "am i?"
alex.
when maggie takes her hand, alex honestly feels like she's been shocked (though she doesn't show it). her hand is so soft and warm, and it feels really nice to hold---and she has no earthly idea why she's even thinking about this. her eyes drop to the floor as they release hands, and she has to laugh a little. it's been a while since anyone besides a teacher has seriously called her danvers. "no," she continues to smile a little. "i was actually just about to take my lunch period. you hungry?" alex isn't sure what compels her to ask, but she does all the time. "i usually go off campus, but i can drive us."
maggie.
despite still being slightly suspicious of alex's motives, maggie perks up at the mention of food. she didn't even realize how hungry she was before now. "that'd be great, actually." raising an eyebrow, she chuckles at alex. "well, i'd offer you a ride on my bike, danvers, but i only have one helmet today." a smirk slowly takes over her face. "so, you'll have to do the honors."
alex.
"wait, your bike?" alex pauses, her eyes flashing with interest. "like, bike-bike or...?" she finds it hard to believe that maggie genuinely meant a bicycle, but she also had no idea maggie could ride a motorcycle, if so. "what are you feeling like?" she asks, smiling as she begins to walk toward the parking lot and, ultimately, to her car. "i'm up for anything that isn't mcdonald's. kara's been on a binge."
maggie.
"motorbike," she corrects herself, giving alex a somewhat cheeky grin. "you ever been on one?" she doesn't seem like the type to own one herself, but she could have some big, burly boyfriend maggie didn't know about. "i could go for tacos." she suggests casually with a shrug. "and kara? she's your... sister, right?" she vaguely remembers hearing something about it.
alex.
"no," she answers quickly.  idly, alex wonders just what quality about her may actually allude that she's ever been on a motorcycle.  it's not so much that she's opposed to at, as her mother would have an absolute fit.  come to think of it, the more she considers it, the more appealing the idea is. "tacos?" alex laughs, because it just seems to random to her. "taco bell or chipotle?" she asks as they approach her car. it's a white honda civic---her mom's choice. "yeah, that's her. tall, blonde, and weird---i say, with love." she offers maggie a sly, sideways glance.
maggie.
raising an eyebrow, maggie turns to her. "do you want to?" she's always more than willing to take a gorgeous girl out for a ride, especially when they generally seem impressed by it. "we can just grab taco bell, i'm not picky." she doesn't want alex to go to any more trouble than she already has. maggie is basically a stranger to her. she chuckles as she hops in the passenger's side. "i promise i won't tell her you said that. not that i've ever met her anyway."
alex.
"i mean," alex isn't exactly sure what answer she wants to go with. "who wouldn't?" she ultimately says, in an effort to seem at least somewhat cool. never mind that she's terrified. getting into her side of the car, she puts her seatbelt on and starts it, pulling out shortly thereafter. "you'd like her. most people who actually get to know her do," alex isn't sure if she wanted to admit that or not. "my parents adopted her when she was 12, after she'd just lost her entire family to this horrible accident. i'm not going to pretend 14-year-old me was a saint to her, but we get along now. mostly."
maggie.
maggie looks at her out of the corner of her eye. "well, if you want to, the offer's there. and if it makes you feel any better, i've never crashed it." she chuckles, turning to look out the window as alex starts the car. however, she's still listening as alex talks about her sister. it's strange, she's not too familiar with being so close to someone in a family situation. hell, the closest she even has to family is her aunt. "she's lucky to have you. it's easy to take the people close to you for granted."March 3, 2017
alex.
"maybe," she chews on her bottom lip a little, weighing her options. honestly? it sounds like a rush. it's that, and eliza would be pissed. so, it's win-win all around. "actually, i think i'd like that." she eventually decides, shooting maggie a sly grin.  "i don't know if she'd agree with that," alex laughs softly, her eyes settling ahead of her. they aren't far from taco bell now--just another intersection. "do you have any brothers or sisters?"
maggie.
maggie nods, her smile only growing. "okay. next time i'll bring an extra helmet." she's not too sure what changed her mind, but she has a feeling that alex is the kind of girl who doesn't do these things often. and really, maggie has absolutely no issue with corrupting her. "no, it's just me." technically she doesn't even live at home, so even if she had siblings, she wouldn't see them. "i like to stick to myself anyway." being looked after really isn't something she's used to.
alex.
if only maggie knew---since her dad died barely a year ago, all alex seems to do is corrupt herself (and others) and self-destruct. she's all but mastered it now. "how long have you driven it? not that i'm changing my mind either way, but..." alex glances at maggie out of the corners of her eyes as they pull into the taco bell parking lot. once she has her car in park, she unbuckles her seatbelt and tosses open her door. "yeah, i never really see you," she's going to say 'anywhere' but thinks better of it. alex knows why maggie keeps to herself. "i- uh... wow, alex, very sensitive," she scoffs at herself, shaking her head. "i didn't mean for it to come out like that." she assures her as she opens the door for maggie to go in first.
maggie.
tilting her head, maggie gives her an easy smile. "about a year." her smile quickly becomes one of amusement. "i'm a great driver. you'll be impressed, i promise." she chuckles, stepping out of the car alongside her. raising an eyebrow at alex's choice of words, she's not at all offended by it. it's the truth anyway. "yeah, i'm not exactly on the popular girl radar unless they want something from me." like, a decent orgasm, for a change. stepping through the door, she suddenly feels starving all over again. "okay, i'm gonna need at least eighteen tacos to get me through the rest of the day."
alex.
"honestly, the fact that you drive a motorcycle at all is impressive enough, but okay," alex laughs, arching an eyebrow at maggie's response to her not-so-tactful observation. what does that mean? she wonders idly, about a million thoughts passing through her head. she can't imagine what anyone would want from maggie off the top of her head, aside from making her life miserable. "eighteen? do you want to lapse into a food coma and die?" she smiles, amused at the thought. "i'll buy," alex assures her. "and i won't take no for an answer. so, order whatever you want."
maggie.
"why, thank you." maggie can't help the smirk that creeps up on her face. what can she say? she feels flattered when a girl compliments her. she's about to open her mouth to argue about paying when alex tells her not to. "well, you sure know the way to a girl's heart, danvers." she immediately feels better as soon as she's ordered her food - less than eighteen tacos, but still decent nonetheless. she finds herself studying alex with a furrowed brow. "listen, you don't have to answer it, but can i ask you something?"
alex.
"who've you dated that didn't offer to buy you food?" she scoffs in good humor, mostly playing with her but also semi-serious.  afterwards, alex orders a pretty sizable amount of food herself, not to be outdone by maggie... naturally. once they both have their food, she lets maggie pick a table where she joins her. alex isn't exactly taco bell's biggest fan (when she thinks about it, it's really just glorified cat food), but when she's in the right mood it's also definitely not the worst thing she's ever put in her mouth. by far. "uh, sure?" she hesitates, only because the set-up makes her nervous. "but if it's about why my sister insists on taking that ugly backpack to school, i have no earthly idea."
maggie.
"dated? jeez, danvers, if i knew this was a date i would've worn my nice leather jacket." she's only teasing, of course, but she definitely can't ignore a remark like that. "it's been a while since i've been on a date that wasn't situated in somebody's car, or at their house." she knows that in their school's social scene, being seen in public with the girl who was outed tends to mean you're gay too. apparently. she laughs at the mention of kara. "i can't say i've noticed your sister's backpack, but..." she eyes her for a minute, deciding to just go for it. "why exactly are you friends with those assholes?"
alex.
alex very nearly chokes. she hadn't even realized her word choice, even less the implication behind them. once she can breathe without feeling like she's inhaled half a burrito into her left lung, she clears her throat and shakes her head. "you're gorgeous, but..." her mind goes briefly to vicky before situating into her default response. "unfortunately, it's just guys for me." she's gotten so used to saying it that it almost feels right---almost.  as for maggie's question, alex rolls her lips together, finding little fault for her curiosity. "uhm... 'friends' is a really loose term," she licks her lips and picks awkwardly at her food. "and after today, i would say that looseness aside... that isn't the case anymore."
maggie.
maggie's smile only grows. this girl just won't stop complimenting her, will she? "well, i'd tell you to have fun with that, but..." she shrugs, because it really doesn't sound fun whatsoever. again, she's really only teasing. she's sure there's some girl out there in an alternate reality that actually likes dealing with boys. still, it's always a shame when she discovers yet another straight girl. "wait, because of what they were saying to me...?" furrowing her eyebrows, she feels confused again. "if they really are your friends, you don't have to ditch them because of that. it happens all the time." not that she approves of alex's choice of company, she doesn't want her to end up with no friends at all.March 4, 2017
alex.
she doesn't respond, because she doesn't know what she would say.  it's strange, but if she thinks about it, she's never really enjoyed talking to or about boys. more or less, they're a means to an end.  she's supposed to talk about them and date them, so she does. "it's not just that," she tells her, feeling weirdly more vulnerable than she had before. "they've always kind of been mean to kara, and after... last year--" she clears her throat, because she is so not able to get emotional in front of an almost-stranger in the middle of a taco bell. "i'm just kind of tired of it. i have vicky, and she's all i really need."
maggie.
"last year?" maggie knows she's probably crossing some sort of line. alex is pretty much a complete stranger, and she knows she certainly wouldn't be opening up this early. she's just a little more curious than she should be. "i definitely get how your sister feels. every time i look at those girls, it just reminds me of being outed all over again." she rolls her eyes, knowing that they're not even worth her breath. "who's vicky?" the name sounds familiar, but she doesn't know for sure.
alex.
alex doesn't blame her for asking. part of her feels like she should be able to talk about this after almost a year, and yet. "i, uh," she scratches at her own cheek, lips pursed. "i lost my dad last year. a lot of the same people who i thought were my friends kind... weren't sympathetic. at all," she waves her hand a little, dismissing it as she worries her bottom lip. "sorry. i didn't mean to make it weird," she laughs uneasily, frowning at maggie's observation about her 'friends.' "i can only imagine," she murmurs, her expression only changing as vicky is mentioned. it's like a light switch. she's looking down, smiling to herself. "vicky donahue," she tells her, rather proudly. "she's been my best friend since we were in elementary school."
maggie.
maggie's shoulders drop as she listens to alex talk. "alex, i'm sorry. i wouldn't have pushed it if i knew." she doesn't know exactly what it's like to lose a parent, but she definitely knows what a certain kind of loss feels like. however, she kind of feels like an idiot for prying into her personal life so easily. "it's not weird, don't worry about it." granted, she doesn't have many people open up to her often, so it's definitely a new feeling. she watches alex curiously, intrigued by the way she lights up when maggie mentions vicky's name. "sounds like you two are pretty close."
alex.
the subject of her father is very quickly and easily dropped. for her, it's still too fresh, even after all these months. sometimes she worries if she'll ever fully get over it, and that scares her a little---to think that she could always be this sad. so, she talks about one of the only things that does make her happy: vicky: "yeah, we are," she's still smiling, kind of distractedly. "i basically live at her house half of the time. the other half, my mom makes me come home to spend family time," she laughs and continues to eat her food for a moment, still kind of flustered to be talking about vicky with someone else. "she's a cheerleader, if you're trying to get a picture of who she is. but she's different. i mean, don't get me wrong, she has her moments, but she has a really big heart."
maggie.
maggie doesn't mind that alex has changed the subject, mostly because she'd much rather her be animated like she is now than upset. "ah, cheerleader." she doesn't have the best track record with cheerleaders. usually they hate her, so their boyfriends hate her, and then when they're drunk they want to 'experiment'. however, she's sure that if alex is friends with her, then she can't be all bad. "well, if she doesn't go around terrorizing people, that explains why i haven't met her before." she gives alex a slight smile. honestly, it's all giving her flashbacks to eliza, which is a place she'd rather not revisit. "glad you have someone on your side who's half decent."
alex.
"thank you," she defers her eyes to her food again, still smiling to herself. alex doesn't even notice a difference in her behavior, though it is glaringly apparent. there's a twinkle in her eyes and a blush on her cheeks that no amount of fussing could mask. "so, besides riding your bike, what else do you do for fun?" she asks conversationally, curious to learn more about her. all she knows about maggie, unfortunately, stems from gossip and rumor. so, she doesn't trust the majority of it.
maggie.
maggie doesn't comment on the fact that alex's face has gradually been getting redder since she began talking about her friend. she doesn't want to spook her, especially after she's made it adamant that she's straight. or at least, thinks she is. "well, i box, and that sort of thing. i want to be a cop, so i try to keep in shape as much as i can." she shrugs. "sometimes i crash parties, just so i can have a drink or two." she eyes alex with a soft smirk. "what about you?"
alex.
"you box?" she seems mystified by this. alex has never met anyone, guy or girl, who boxes. resting her chin on her hand, she tilts her head a little, studying maggie with a soft but inquisitive expression. "you're kind of tiny to be a cop, don't you think?" the way it's said is more humored than anything else. "they don't have a height requirement, do they?" she takes a sip of her drink and laughs, smiling broadly for the first time. "i read. science articles, mostly. i go to parties a lot, too. i am also a professional binge-watcher of tv shows. pretty exciting." she rolls her eyes playfully.
maggie.
maggie nods. "sure do. i've found it's a good way to release anger." she rolls her eyes playfully at alex's remark. if only she had a dollar for every time she'd received a joke about her height, she'd be able to put herself through college with no problems. "no, they got rid of the height requirement when women were allowed to become officers." her expression becomes amused once again. "science articles? i'm not even gonna ask," she teases, mostly because she would have absolutely no clue what alex is talking about. "at least you're invited to the parties you go to. some of us have to be rebellious."
alex.
"you learn something new every day," she remarks coolly, chin still balanced on her knuckles as she watches maggie. alex really hadn't known about that, largely because she's never entertained any career other than medicine or some branch of biological science. "i could invite you," alex starts to say, eyebrow arched. "but i guess that kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?" her mind travels back to what she said about boxing. she finds it far more interesting than expected. "do you think you could show me how boxing works? the therapist my mother made me go see once said i could use healthier ways to deal with my anger." she quotes the shrink with heavy cynicism.
maggie.
"tiny people can still kick your ass, danvers. you better watch out." maggie points her finger towards alex, but is only teasing, for the most part. she looks at her, intrigued when alex says she'll invite her to a party. "i've heard that being seen with me ruins reputations," she tells her matter-of-factly, before scoffing and rolling her eyes. honestly, some of the things alex's friends come up with are truly ridiculous. "i can try. we have a punching bag in my aunt's garage." laughing, she raises an eyebrow at alex. "motorcycles and boxing, huh? careful, wouldn't want me corrupting you."
alex.
"listen, i never said that," she can't stop herself from laughing. it's strange how easy it is to talk to maggie. even talking to vicky sometimes comes with its weird hitches, especially as of late. but maggie? even though they barely know each other, she doesn't feel judged or the need to put on some kind of show. it's kind of nice. "i think i've already burned that bridge. taylor isn't exactly known for her privacy policy," she shrugs. "i don't care," and that's the truth. she hasn't even thought about it since they left. "i'm pretty sure i'm already corrupted, sawyer," alex repays maggie's courtesy of using her surname back with sass. "between not believing in god, dabbling in recreational drug use, and dating men too old for me, i'd say motorcycles and boxing are actually some of the purest hobbies i can pick up."
maggie.
alex doesn't seem to mind that everyone in school is going to start calling her gay too, which is a nice change. maggie really shouldn't be surprised that people are still as ignorant as they've always been. "it's hypocritical, considering how many popular girls want to hook up and experiment when they're wasted." she puts her straw in her mouth, idly wondering how many of those girls were alex's friends. her smile becomes amused once more, which seems to be far too easy with what comes out of alex's mouth. "well, aren't you a bad girl." despite what she may have done in the past, alex still seems relatively tame to maggie. "maybe you'll corrupt me instead."
alex.
there's something interesting about what maggie's alluding to, at the mention of popular girls and hooking up when they're wasted.  it occurs to her that maybe there's some girls she doesn't know about, but she doesn't want to ask.  somehow, it doesn't seem right to. "really?" is all she says instead, unable to mask her intrigue, even if she tries. though, as the subject changes back to her extracurricular activities, she has to smile. "well, i've yet to corrupt my sister, but maybe there's still hope for me with you," alex catches her bottom lip with her teeth and then steals a glance at her phone. lunch period would be over soon. "looks like we're due back, unfortunately," she sighs, half-considering skipping for once in her life, if only because she doesn't want to deal with the aftermath of taylor. "you ready?"
maggie.
"corrupting me is rewarding, because i'm up for just about anything." maggie gives her a look that could be entirely suggestive, but she figures alex won't see it that way. she rolls her eyes at the thought of going back to school. she's not in the mood to be cornered by any more assholes today. "alright, if we have to." she smiles, getting up out of her seat. at least she's had food, so she'll be able to function. she turns towards alex, tilting her head. "thanks for this. you didn't have to buy lunch, but i appreciate it." she definitely has no problem paying for her own meals, so she'll have to return the favor sometime.March 5, 2017
alex.
alex rolls her eyes, smiling all the while. "i'll take your word for it," she gathers her trash and starts for the garbage can. once she's thrown her garbage away, she joins maggie toward the exit. "it's no problem," she insists, the corners of her mouth still slanted up. "you're not the worst person i've ever spent lunch with by far," alex resists the urge to knock her shoulder into maggie's. somehow they don't seem quite ' there ' there. unlocking her car, she gets in the driver's side and turns the engine over. "i'm sorry about what happened today. i know it isn't the first time, but..." she licks her lips and takes a moment to look at maggie in earnest. "i'm still sorry that you have to deal with it at all."
