The sun filtered gently through the curtains of your small, cozy home as you stirred awake, feeling the warmth of the blankets around you and the familiar weight of Newt's arm draped across your waist. The early morning light bathed the room in a soft, golden glow, and for a moment, you simply lay there, enjoying the peacefulness that had become such a cherished part of your life.
You could hear the faint rustling of leaves from the trees outside and the distant chirping of birds, but it was the quiet hum of magic that truly made this place feel like home. It was the sound of creatures stirring in their habitats, of enchanted objects quietly working their spells, and of Newt’s steady breathing beside you, a constant reminder that you were never alone. As if sensing you were awake, Newt shifted slightly, his arm tightening around you in a gentle, unconscious embrace. You smiled to yourself, turning to face him. His eyes were still closed, his hair tousled and falling into his face, making him look even more boyish and endearing. You resisted the urge to brush the strands aside, not wanting to disturb his sleep. Instead, you took a moment to simply watch him, your heart swelling with love. How had you gotten so lucky? This was a man who had seen the wonders and dangers of the world, who had faced down the most fearsome creatures with bravery and compassion. And yet, here he was, in this quiet moment, looking so serene, so content.
But as much as you loved these peaceful mornings, you knew that the creatures in your care wouldn’t wait forever. So, with a soft sigh, you carefully slipped out of Newt’s grasp, trying not to wake him. As you swung your feet to the floor, a soft, curious chirp caught your attention. You turned to see a small Bowtruckle peeking out from the pocket of Newt’s coat, which was draped over a nearby chair. “Good morning, Pickett” you whispered, reaching out to let the little creature crawl onto your hand. He nuzzled your fingers affectionately, and you couldn’t help but smile.
“You’re up early” Newt’s groggy voice mumbled from the bed, and you looked over to see him blinking sleepily at you. “I didn’t mean to wake you” you said apologetically, though your smile widened as he sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. “It’s alright” he replied, his voice still heavy with sleep. He stretched, letting out a contented sigh, before his gaze settled on you with a soft, affectionate smile. “But I’m glad you did”. You couldn’t help the warmth that spread through your chest at his words. Even after all this time, he still had a way of making your heart flutter with just a look.
“Come on” you said, holding out your hand to him, Pickett still clinging to your fingers. “Let’s check on the creatures before breakfast”. Newt’s eyes lit up at the mention of the creatures, and he was out of bed in an instant, his enthusiasm as boundless as ever. You chuckled at his eagerness, following him as he practically bounded out of the bedroom and down the stairs to the main area of your home, which served as both a living space and a sanctuary for the various magical creatures under your care. The room was filled with the soft glow of morning light, illuminating the various habitats and enclosures scattered around the space. A soft cooing sound greeted you as you entered, and you looked over to see a baby Niffler poking its head out of its nest, its beady eyes gleaming with curiosity. “Good morning, little one” Newt murmured as he approached the Niffler, reaching out to gently scratch behind its ear. The creature leaned into his touch, its tiny nose twitching as it sniffed at the air. You couldn’t help but smile at the sight. This was the life you had always dreamed of. One filled with love, magic, and the simple joys of caring for the creatures that you and Newt both adored.
As Newt continued to check on the various creatures, you busied yourself with preparing breakfast, the aroma of fresh bread and eggs filling the air. It wasn’t long before Newt joined you, his cheeks flushed with excitement as he recounted a small breakthrough he’d had with one of the more temperamental creatures. You listened with rapt attention, your heart swelling with affection as he animatedly described the creature’s behavior. Even after all this time, his passion for his work never ceased to amaze you. It was one of the many things you loved about him. His boundless curiosity, his gentle heart, and the way he saw beauty in even the most misunderstood creatures.
After breakfast, the two of you spent the day tending to the creatures together, your movements synchronized from years of working side by side. Whether it was feeding the baby Niffler or gently coaxing a stubborn Mooncalf out of hiding, every task felt like a shared act of love, a bond that grew stronger with each passing day.
As the afternoon sun began to dip low in the sky, casting long shadows across the room, you found yourself sitting on the floor with Newt, your back resting against his as you both enjoyed a moment of quiet. The creatures had been fed, their habitats cleaned, and now they were settling down for the evening, the soft sounds of their contentment filling the air. You felt Newt shift slightly behind you, and a moment later, his hand found yours, his fingers intertwining with your own. You squeezed his hand gently, leaning your head back to rest against his shoulder. “This is nice” you murmured, closing your eyes as you soaked in the warmth of the moment. “Mm” Newt agreed, his voice a soft rumble in your ear. “It really is”.
You sat like that for a while, simply enjoying the feeling of being close to each other. There was no need for words. Everything you wanted to say was conveyed through the simple touch of his hand, the steady beat of his heart against your back. Eventually, as the sky outside began to darken, you reluctantly pulled away, knowing that there were still a few tasks left to complete before the day was done. But as you moved to stand, Newt caught your hand, pulling you back down beside him. “Stay” he whispered, his eyes soft and earnest as they met yours. You hesitated for only a moment before nodding, a smile tugging at your lips as you settled back down beside him. Newt wrapped his arms around you, holding you close as the two of you watched the stars begin to twinkle in the night sky outside the window. As the first stars appeared, you felt a sense of contentment settle over you, a feeling that you were exactly where you were meant to be. Here, in this little corner of the world, surrounded by magic and love, you had found your home. And as you sat there in Newt’s arms, the warmth of his embrace filling you with a sense of peace, you knew that you wouldn’t trade this life for anything.
This was your happily ever after. An ordinary, magical life with Newt and his creatures. And you wouldn’t have it any other way.

He grumbled against his shoulder, which was Albus for no, he definitely was not in the mood to move at the moment. Even when Gellert did decide to get up to make food, he was more than sure Albus himself would end up following him around, clinging to him from behind like he had done so many times during that fateful summer. Bittersweet memories now, he supposed. @magicblooms
I don't appreciate you sending your little lap dogs in, to sabotage my plans. If you must attempt treason against me, surely you could deign to make an appearance yourself - GG
"Treason?" He scoffed, throwing his hands up in exasperation, seeing his image accumulate in his mind. "Treason?!" He was absolutely dumbfounded. How dare he sum this up to treason? It was nothing of the sort! If anything, he was the one committing treason! "Oh you've got some bloody nerve-" if he was there in person, his fiery temper might've caused him to slap him. "How dare you stand there and say that practically to my face, after what you've done!" @magicblooms

Late Night Cutie Pie
Newt Scamander X Knight Bus Worker! Reader
((Can be read as platonic))
While working on the bus, a famous little face pops itself into the open doors. A sweetheart that’s been stressed out of his mind, and you do what you do best. Help those in need. Along with show you might have a talent for Nifflers, on top of a talent for flustering Magizoologists
Warnings: very adorable fluff, tooth rotting fluff, fluster newt, newt being painfully adorable, and of course TEDDY SHENANIGANS
Tumblr media
“Ooooo we got a celebrity joining us tonight-!” You heard you coworker, a talking head, shout to you. You wondered who that could be, as you finished tidying up the beds. Ready for whatever lost soul is needing a good rest. Pillows fluffed, blankets laid out, and wheels oiled to keep people from flying.
“Oh no no. Im not celebrity-“ A almost timid voice would speak, as you hurried down from the upper floor. Once your shoes hit the ground, your eyes went wide with who they landed on. A man in a blue jacket, fluffy hair, and a suit case in hand. Newt Scamander. In the flesh.
“No way-“ You whispered, before those big blue eyes were on you. He gave a shy little wave, before rummaging in his pocket. Pulling out his ticket, and snapping you back to reality. As instinct, you were quick to sort it out. Not even needing to look at your hands, as you kept them on him. Snip, snap, POP, done!
“Normally we never pry, but uh. What’s a guy like you doing on a bus like ours-?” You asked. You were a Knight Bus Worker. You had to be social, after all. So being direct with people, no matter the face, is an important skill to have. One that was leaving him embarrassed.
“Well, seems you know who I am. Guess you can kinda put two and two together. Not many people trust that I’ll keep my friends under control.” He admits, with a smile that said it hurt him. They were animals. Not their fault after all. You won’t lie, though. It’s touching how he would simply turn those people away. Compared to following their rules, and leaving his friends behind.
“I mean, we’ve had the shadiest people come on here. Better to have Hippogriff shit on the bed than human shit. Least with a bird like that, you know they couldn’t help it.” You would put, rather bluntly, which had him smile. Knowing he wouldn’t be a burden to anyone on the bus, given you were being very direct with him. Compared to sugar coating, or babying him because of his Hufflepuff nature. People tended to do that, and even he was getting annoyed. A welcome change it was.
“I’ll take you to the upper floor, so you can have more room. Not a lot of people go up there, because of motion sickness. So you’ll have plenty of room to stretch your legs-!” You comforted, as you were making his night. A place to actually rest, and work with his care. You were just his angel. He wanted to hug you so badly, and you can tell with his arms tensing. Once a Hufflepuff, always a Hufflepuff.
“Bring it in-“ You reassured, and he nearly lifted you off the ground. Made you wheeze, but you couldn’t deny it. Hufflepuffs gave the best hugs. Not many people liked to treat you more than part of the bus, so it was a very nice change. Felt good to get a hug.
“Truly, I am so grateful. Be nice to sleep in a bed for a while. Not to say I do not enjoy nature, but we all live in certain environments for a reason after all." The older man said, when he finally set you free. Must be so hard, world traveling. Maybe he was home sick, so he was back in England for a while. Maybe animals were in need. Who knows! You just know he needed rest.
"Come on up then." You would escort him to the second floor of the double decker bus, and would lead him to a freshly made bed. You also made sure the frame was secure, wheels smooth, anything that could cause issues in his stay. Just wanting him to get some rest. As you did, you were not aware of Newt having a panic attack behind you. The moment you turned; he quickly hid his suitcase. Smiling big, with eyes darting everywhere.
"Doing alright? Seem a bit shaken, what's up?" You asked, as he keeps his nervous smile. A tug at his collar, before his eyes were now staring at something behind you. That made you raise a brow, before you slowly turned around. Just as you did, something jumped on you. You gave a shout, before you were tumbling into the once Hufflepuff. Both of you crashing to the ground.
"TEDDY-! NO! WEVE BEEN OVER THIS-!" You heard him shout, as you were helped up. Now you had a niffler choking you out, given he was dangling off your lanyard. Now knowing it was a niffler, you weren't upset. Your lanyard had many shiny pins and buttons. It can't be helped.
"Aw, you want a pin?" You cooed, as you soon scooped the little gremlin into your arms. Him still holding the lanyard, as Newt calmed down. Surprised to see Teddy calm as well. Just looking up at you with those big eyes. Sparkling with desire. You knew what to do, given many a child has ridden the bus. For one reason or another.
"Here is a nice shiny pin, all for you." You smiled, as you rummaged in your pocket. Soon you had a pin in hand, designed to look like the knight bus. With glittery windows, that made it sparkle like stars. That had the niffler let go of the lanyard, and make grabby hands for the pin. Into his tiny hands it went, and he hugged it tightly. A little chirp of happiness, before it went into his pouch. Safe and sound. Now he was satisfied, for the time being.
"Amazing..." Newt whispered, before he would take Teddy back. The little guy was quick to pull the new possession out, and showed it to his dad. Newt gave a 'ooo' and his eyes sparkled all the same. Just like a father, to a toddler. Melted your heart, to see a bond. How he kissed Teddy's head, and he gave chirps of joy.
"You have a talent for animals, I can see it clear as day. Teddy is always a handful, but like that you had it under control. No panic, and quick to find a solution. Amazing." He praised you, resulting a heavy blush on your face. What a praise and honor it was. Newt Scamander, praising your skills.
"Toddlers and nifflers are basically the same thing." You brushed off, before the bus was quick to make its sharp stop. You didnt move a inch, of course, but the father and son went flying. You winced, when Newt slammed into the window. He did, however, made sure to keep teddy wrapped around his arms. Pressed into his chest, so that the little thing suffered as little damage as possible. Such a pure soul.
"There is a reason we have complinetry sleeping potions and pain killers. Check the bedside table, back to work I go!" You waved goodbye, with Teddy waving bye as well. Since his dad was busy with new back pain.
Just like how it always was. Taking tickets, escorting newbies, comforting lost children, punching a drunk here and there. A typical night for the bus. As it was getting closer to the end of your shift, you would go and check on the famous celebrity. Up the stairs, and to the second floor.
There he was. His brief case locked to the bed frame, with an enchanted chain, and his coat hung up. His face pressed into the pillow, showing his knocked out face. Drooling, in a much needed rest. All the while little Teddy was snuggled close to his father. His face tucked under the man’s chin, and tiny hands hugging his dress shirt close. Safe, under the man’s arm.
You would sneak over, and make sure the blanket was pulled high enough for him and Teddy. Poor souls needed it. You wouldn’t be surprised if he would spend a few nights here. As if you would complain. The company would be needed, and who knows. Maybe a Pest Control guy would be needed. Sure get wild animagi coming in sometimes.
With Newt tucked in, and adjusting the pillow for Teddy, you would return down the stairs. All to be teased by that talking head for growing overly friendly with the celebrity. All it took was a flick, and he was spinning. That had you laugh, as you stretched.
Never a dull night, on that bus.

I've seen a theory floating around that the Fantastic Beasts film was repurposed from a scrapped Doctor Who movie script and I was curious for your take.
In the early 2010s, there were plans for a Doctor Who film to expand the franchise, offering a fresh entry point new fans with focuse on courting an American audience. David Yates was in talks to direct or produce, and the Eleventh Doctor’s planned encounter with the Master was saved for the movie. However, the project fell apart due to Matt Smith’s early departure, Steven Moffat’s workload (Doctor Who, Sherlock, & Tintin), and declining interest from the BBC. Instead, Doctor Who marked its 50th anniversary with a feature-length special.
Enter Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Despite being credited as the sole writer, J.K. Rowling had no screenwriting experience. At the time, she was focused on her detective novels, while Yates played a major role in Fantastic Beasts’ unusually fast development. The film’s protagonist—a quirky, pacifist British traveler with a bigger-on-the-inside case, a love for strange creatures, and two companions—closely resembles Doctor Who. The villain even has a transformed face.
It seems likely that Yates repurposed the abandoned Doctor Who script, handing it to Rowling to rework as a Harry Potter spinoff. While the first Fantastic Beasts had some structure, the sequels—written solely by Rowling—were poorly received, probably due to her lack of screenwriting experience.
Obviously there is no way to know for sure, but this theory honestly holds up for me. The dates line up. The studio politics line up. David Yates is there both times. According to Karen Gillian, Johnny Depp was attached to the Doctor Who movie - and if he *stayed* attached as it was retooled into Fantastic Beasts, that would help explain what is easily the most baffling casting decision in the whole franchise. Even people who liked Fantastic Beasts thought Johnny Depp was a bizarre Grindelwald. It is so obviously a role that wants a Colin Farrell or a Mads Mikkelsen.
Jacob is also SUCH a Doctor Who companion - normal guy, dead end job, swept away into magical adventures. He's really not a very JKR-ish character because... well... she doesn't write sympathetic muggles. Her muggle characters are villains, ridiculous (or both.) Or else exist totally off-page. Her most sympathetic muggle character is probably Frank Bryce - who is bad tempered, crotchety, and not very interesting. This is honestly kind of a structural problem: if your villain's main point is "wizards are better than muggles," I think you'd want to prove him wrong by writing muggle characters who don't suck.
But Doctor Who loves a normie protagonist who teaches the Doctor an important lesson about community, or responsibility, or love. That is 100% Jacob. There are also elements of Fantastic Beasts 1 that feel... pretty tonally off for a Harry Potter movie? I'm thinking specifically of the Death Cell execution room. That whole scene - the way it's designed and shot - it's all extremely horror movie. That's fine for Doctor Who, which has always had horror DNA. But Harry Potter doesn't. It also doesn't really make sense as a sanctioned government execution room, it makes sense as the sort of creepy, uncanny trap the Master would put the Doctor in. If Universal developed cool/expensive assets for Doctor Who, I think it's totally possible that they would be motivated to recycle them into Fantastic Beasts.
It also explains why Fantastic Beasts 2 (which would have been JKR's original work) immediately un-does a lot of the plot elements from Fantastic Beasts 1. The bittersweet moment of Jacob losing the memories of his adventure, but keeping his unlocked creativity and hope, that's such a Doctor Who ending. So is that moral-quandary moment of 'is there a way to stop this monster, who is both an danger to others and an innocent, without destroying it.' But in Fantastic Beasts 2, within the first ten minutes Jacob has his memory back and we hear that Credence is fine. Also... Jacob gets a wand in Fantastic Beasts 3. And it's not a "real wand" or whatever... but like, if the series continued, it was going to do something. (Because JKR doesn't like writing muggle protagonists.)
I will also say that in Fantastic Beasts 1 - information is delivered visually, film language is better understood, it has a good sense of its own scope. It's a filmmaker's movie, while Fantastic Beasts 2 is a writer's movie. It's got a million characters, tons of scenes of characters in a room or hallway just *talking* to each other (which is less interesting to watch than it is to read.) Important plot beats are delivered through monologs or extended flashback sequences. The pacing is much, much worse. The action sequences are much more confusing.
Okay. Fantastic Beats 1 could have been made out of assets originally developed for Doctor Who, and by some of the same creative team. Yeah. I see it.

He flushed as he felt his lips brush against his skin. "I'm sorry.." he muttered. He knew the strain and distance had been his fault a majority of the time of the years as he'd began to distance himself more and more from their cause in the last twenty years or less, when he'd started to pull away more. Even after that first summer, he had been present off and on through the years through their cause despite his own path, and now was no different. Though that had started to get really strained after he'd pulled away much more in 1916, hearing the horrified whispers through the wizarding world, when the ministry started pressuring him to help. @magicblooms
Electricity.
It crackled through the air, and before the spell had the chance to completely strike Credence down- They all drew their wands, just like so many decades ago back at Godric's Hollow- He'd been watching Gellert out of the corner of his eye, knowing he was prone to doing something, anything drastic when he felt he was cornered. Two brothers against Gellert Grindelwald, to protect an obscurial. If anyone was dying tonight, by Merlin's beard it would not be another obscurial he would let die by their hands, but to protect. He heard a snap as the chain on the blood troth broke, and his eyes flickered up quickly to those mismatched ones he'd fallen in love with so many years ago at Godric's Hollow, reading the look on his face.
They were suddenly surrounded in some kind of impenetrable force field, a magical fog as the blood troth hung in the air beside him. He quickly pulled out his wand, blasting spells back and fourth as the air around them crackled with electricity of the raw power between them- No holding back this time. Blasts of spells and debris and raw power crashed around them as they duelled, growing closer and closer still. Until he had his wand aimed at his lover, his best friend, his everything, his other hand resting over his heart at they stared intensely at one another.
Albus was the first to power down his wand.
He swallowed thickly at the feeling of Gellerts hand against his own chest, clenched there, silently begging him to stay. He lowered his wand, looking up when he saw the fog beginning to clear.. An opening. He held his mismatched gaze for a long time, before he forced himself to walk away. Every step away from him, after seeing him in person, so close like this, for the first time in a long time- Felt like complete agony.
"Who will love you now, Dumbledore?."
Crack.
As he continued to walk away from him, with the combined feeling of the blood troth breaking at those words- It felt as if he had used the Cruciatius curse on him. His entire body burned, mind and heart as if he was on fire the second it broke on the steps of the palace. Jaw tightened at the feeling of holding back the absolute agony coursing through his veins, and those words made it feel as if he had been punched in the gut. Eyes staring up at him as he watched him stumble back, staring like a trapped animal at the rest of them. @magicblooms

❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿
The chill of the evening air clung to the stone walls of Hogwarts as you and Newt climbed the steps to the Astronomy Tower. Your breath puffed in small clouds, and Newt’s soft voice filled the silence between you, his gentle words always soothing.
“I’ve always found the night sky fascinating,” he murmured, eyes glancing up at the stars as you both reached the top. “So many creatures thrive in the dark. It’s their world, you know? A world full of life, even when everything seems so still.”
You smiled, watching him as he spoke with that familiar, quiet passion. His love for all things magical and wild always drew you in. Tonight, however, it wasn’t creatures or plants that captured your attention, but the twinkling stars above.
Laying a blanket down on the cool stone, Newt gestured for you to join him. You settled beside him, close enough that your shoulders brushed, the warmth of his body easing the bite of the night air.
The sky stretched out endlessly above you, and Newt pointed out constellations, his voice soft, like the gentle rustling of leaves. “There’s Orion
and over there, that’s Canis Major. Magical creatures have been linked to the stars for centuries. Even the centaurs believe the stars hold prophecies.”
You turned to face him, the glow of the moon catching in his soft brown eyes. His face was calm, but there was an underlying intensity, the kind that only appeared when he was fully immersed in something he loved. The night, the stars, the quiet—this was Newt’s element.
“It’s peaceful here,” you whispered, letting your hand drift to rest beside his. His fingers, always so steady when handling creatures, hesitated for a moment before gently brushing against yours. The smallest of touches, but it sent warmth through you.
Newt glanced down, his usual shy smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “It is, isn’t it? I think
I think I rather like sharing this moment with you.”
The stars twinkled overhead, but all you could focus on was the steady rise and fall of his breath beside you, the unspoken bond growing between you in the silence. Beneath the vast, infinite sky, it felt like it was just the two of you—small, but not alone.

THE FANTABULOUS FUCK-UPS OF FANTASTIC BEASTS
Tagging @keepmeinmind-01 , as promised. Thank you for the lovely ask, friend đŸ˜đŸ«¶
Alright, so to start off, I just want to get this out of the way: Fuck JK Rowling, trans rights are human rights, free Palestine, black lives matter, and bigotry of any kind is an absolutely disgusting use of free will.
I was going to throw all of my issues into the answer to your ask, but I got part way through the first section and went, "This is a lot. Maybe I should just make a post." So here we are.
I'm going to be breaking this post into sections, just to keep it a bit more cohesive and less wall-of-text-y. First up:
MAJOR PLOT HOLES AND INCONSISTENCIES
(More under the cut đŸ˜đŸ«¶đŸ’)
There is absolutely no mention of Credence at all in the original books. If he was such a pivotal character, especially one related to the Dumbledore's, how did he just disappear into obscurity (no pun intended) by the time the main series took place?
Gellert’s “Your brother abandoned you” comment at the end of CoG makes no sense. If Aberforth is the father, that would make Albus an uncle
and if Grindelwald knows oh-so-much about the Dumbledore family, you’d think he would know enough to not make that mistake
Jacob in Hogwarts is literally impossible... Unless he’s a squib. But if he is a squib, we should have gotten even a tiny hint of magical ancestry. Now, we're just assuming things to make the dots connect, and if your readers have to go through such mental gymnastics to understand the story you've written, you've done something wrong.
The Queenie/Jacob marriage at the end of SoD takes place in Queens, in Jacob’s bakery. But how are they getting married in the US? The laws regarding No-Maj/Wizarding relationships haven’t changed yet!
‘Vulnera Sanentur’ is the counter-curse for ‘Sectum Sempra’
A spell that was invented by the Half-Blood Prince
who has not been born yet. I mean, come on. That's just lazy writing.
Ariana’s death in the three-way duel between Gellert, Aberforth, and Albus directly goes against the blood pact! Killing curses were being exchanged, so why didn’t the pact have any effect then?
The whole blood pact in general makes no sense tbh. If thinking about harming the other is enough to activate the curse, why is murder by proxy allowed? They're still thinking of hurting each other, just by manipulating other people to do it for them. Is that not seen as "direct harm"???
Leta and Corvus Jr are very explicitly stated to be the last of the Lestrange line
But they’re obviously not? Where did Rabastian or Rudolphus come from? Did they just spawn in? Or could it be that the entire Lestrange plot line in CoG just meant absolutely nothing
The twin Qilin being dead means that it. Is. Dead. Magic cannot bring back the dead, which was the whole point of the OG books. So is it an inferi now? An animated corpse? But it apparently still uses magic to figure out who to bow to, which is something I'm pretty sure an inferi is incapable of. So what is it??
The future is the future is the future. Gellert saw the future. So anything that happens between the present and the point he saw was *always going to happen*. The whole “counter-sight” plot doesn’t make any sense because the only ones confused are the characters and us. The future has already been set!
In CoG, Albus is a DADA teacher
But he never taught Defense. He was the Transfiguration professor! We know this because it was stated in the original books that Tom Riddle asked for the Defense position when the previous teacher (who had been working there for 50 years) retired. So how on earth is albus teaching DADA 10 years before Tom starts school??
The Qilin bowing to Albus makes no sense. His entire arc in The Deathly Hallows was there to prove that he was not pure of heart, nor was he deserving of a powerful station.
After all the lead-up and hints that Jacob is pure and virtuous, it would have made more sense for it to bow to him
By which I mean, it still makes no sense, but it would have been a better twist than whatever bs they actually tried to pull.
Yusuf Kama going to Grindelwald serves no purpose other than to add suspense for the audience
As far as the others know, he was loyal to them for the entire time. The whole question of "will he, won't he" is totally irrelevant to the other characters because they know him to be on their side. It's not a surprise to them when he turns on the wizard nazis
There is absolutely 0 continuity with the Dumbledore/Phoenix thing. If Credence’s came to him because he was dying, then does that mean Ariana had one, too?
Honestly, on the topic of Credence, his entire story was just. Anticlimactic. You mean to tell me that after all that build-up, all those hints that his mother will finally be revealed... We get literally nothing about her?? Then he just dies??? Off-screen??? WTH Joanne??
If Yusuf couldn’t follow Corvus Jr because Irma’s magical signature was too weak, then WHY SEND LETA? Wouldn’t she have a magical presence he could trace? She could jeopardize the entire operation, all for what?? Some convoluted baby swap scheme? That also makes no sense??
AND WHY LEAVE HIM WITH A RANDOM LADY - no way to contact him, no way to find him, nothing - especially if that lady happens to be descended from the witch hunters responsible for the Salem witch trials??? Me thinks Corvus Sr put zero thought into this entire situation
Timeline Fucky Wuckys
I know this one comes up a lot, but how is Minerva McGonagall teaching at Hogwarts a full three decades before she was born?? Her birthday is in October of 1935, yet she's somehow teaching Newt and Leta in the 1910s??
SoD takes place sometime before 1939 because WW2 hadn’t started yet. BUT Tom Riddle starts school in 1938
And he needs his wand, which means Fawkes had to have been with Albus already in order to donate the two feathers for the brother wands. When did Fawkes come to Albus? How long was he with him? We have no answers!
Lally says it’s been, “... a little over a year,” since the events of the first movie. But it’s not? It’s been, at the very least, 5 years! Just more timeline confusion
FBaWtFT takes place in 1926. Credence is supposed to be 18 years old. But in SoD, it’s revealed that he was conceived in 1899
So either his mother (whoever she is, we still have no gd clue) was pregnant for about 8 years, or it just doesn’t make any sense period.
Minor Mistakes and General Questions
Mistakes
Tina and Theseus have the same job
So why could Theseus participate in the third movie but Tina somehow couldn’t?
There is some Portkey vs Floo Network confusion in SoD. Jacob comes whooshing onto the train *through the fireplace*, yet still calls that transportation a Port Key? Maybe he's just a little confused, or maybe the writers just overlooked it?
There are quite a few Vanishing Characters throughout the franchise, but 3 main ones: Abernathy, who they were implying was high-up in grindelwald's close circle; Nagini, apparently a shape shifter somehow; and Tina Goldstein?? A main protagonist???
Albus tells Jacob to, “Keep it close,” referring to his snake-wood wand. But why? Why go out of his way to instruct caution for absolutely no reason? As far as they know, it's just a stick! The wand doesn't have a core, so even if it is made out of a rare type of wood, it's still just a stick??
If the Swooping Evil venom from the first movie only works on “bad memories”, then Langdon Shaw wouldn’t be affected either. He was ecstatic to find out witches were real! Even if he was labeled as a crazy man and completely disregarded, it is entirely plausible that other people (ehem, Jacob) would have remembered the events of the last fight.
I hold very firmly to the idea that if Bunty had been introduced in the first movie, she and Newt would have ended up together. Instead, they're both just left pining with no resolution.
Questions
For a show called Fantastic Beasts, there really aren't a lot of beasts in the later films, are there? What happened to the whimsy of the first movie? Where did it go?
What is Aberforth's thing with mirrors? It was in the Deathly Hallows, and here it is again in SoD. Does he have a specific affinity for mirror magic?? Is that even a thing???
Speaking of Aberforth, what's with the goats? We have no explanation for any of that, even though it was an established piece of his character in the og book.
The whole "mirror dimension/inverse realm" in SoD also makes no sense? What kind of magic was that? Why does it never come up again? Is that just one of Albus Dumbledore's many talents, or was it just something the writers threw in because it looked cool?
On the topic of Albus, is he a seer or is he just really lucky?? In the books, it was implied that he was a very talented statistician, not a prophetic wizard. He could look at memories and easily distinguish patterns, thereby allowing him to guess at the most likely immediate future. But in SoD, it's pretty heavily implied that he saw some glimpse of the future and that's how he knows the counter-sight plan will work.
How do American muggle-borns get their letters to Ilvermorny if it’s literally illegal for any non-wizard to even know about the existence of magic? How does magic *work* in the US if it must all be kept strictly underground??
Bunty orders 6 identical cases, but only 4 of them are used in the plot. What happened to the other 2?
In the books, Aberforth hated Albus since the day Ariana was killed. That has already happened in the movies, and yet they get along relatively well? So what happened?
Why establish a connection between Newt and dragons in the first film, and then just abandon that detail to the void? Do you have any idea how cool it would be to have newt right in on the back of a Ukrainian Ironbelly to fight literal nazis?? That would have been SWEET
If you're cursed after killing a unicorn, the slaying of a being as pure as a Qilin would have a similar effect, yes? Apparently not.
I'm sure there are lots and lots that I overlooked, but I this is a pretty good list for now!! I think I might make another post for my theories and how I plan on fixing this whole mess in my rewrite... but that will be a project for another time.
Thanks for reading!! Feel free to scream at me about discrepancies I missed in the comments 🙏 I'm sure I missed some somewhere

Hey,
could you please write a yandere Grindelwald one-shot, where he is obsessed with a spy sent by the aurors?(similar role like Kama in the third film)
Grindelwald X Reader: A bird in a cage
Tumblr media
Warnings: possessive behaviour, No use of y/n, Gn reader, not proofread, being held captive (i guess?)
Word count: 1.1K
You’d never been afraid of danger. But you were, perhaps, a little unprepared for how quickly your mission would evolve into something far more perilous than simply being a spy.
It started like any other assignment from Dumbledore. You were supposed to infiltrate Gellert Grindelwald’s ranks, gain his trust, and gather information on his plans. Your position was precarious, and your every move had to be calculated—one slip, one wrong word, and it could mean your life.
But you never expected to be seen.
At first, Grindelwald was just another name, another powerful dark wizard to be studied, another piece of the puzzle. You’d met him only in passing, at a gathering of like-minded individuals. His charisma was intoxicating, but you knew how to play your part—discreet, detached, and always looking for the cracks in his mask.
But Grindelwald was perceptive. Too perceptive.
It didn’t take long for him to notice you, even in a room full of high-ranking followers. He was always near, always watching, his sharp blue eyes never leaving you. You assumed it was just a curiosity, a suspicion born from the shadows of his mind. You assumed he had many eyes on him at all times.
But then it happened.
One evening, after a particularly tense meeting, you found yourself alone in one of the grand hallways of his fortress. Your heart beat rapidly in your chest as you walked swiftly, trying to lose yourself among the shadows. But a voice, smooth and cold as ice, stopped you in your tracks.
“Where are you going, my dear?”
You froze, your blood running cold as you turned slowly to face him. Grindelwald stood there, his tall, commanding presence enough to swallow the entire corridor. His gaze locked with yours, his lips curving into a small, knowing smile.
“I’ve been watching you and I must say, I find you... intriguing.”
You could feel the weight of his words hanging in the air, thick with something you couldn’t quite place. His smile widened, and his eyes glinted with a predatory gleam.
"But I wonder... What exactly is it that you’re hiding, hmm?”
The question was innocent enough, but it struck a chord deep within you. You could feel your pulse quicken, but you forced yourself to smile, to maintain the composure of a spy, of someone who had everything under control.
“I’m not hiding anything.”
Your voice was calm, even though every fiber of your being screamed to run.
“I’m just another member of your circle, nothing more.”
Grindelwald took a step closer, his eyes narrowing as he studied you. His gaze felt like a caress, slow and deliberate, as though he could peel away every layer of your soul if he chose to.
“You lie so beautifully.”
There was a hint of amusement in his tone sending a shiver down your spine.
“But we both know that’s not true. You’re hiding something, and I will find out what it is.”
He didn’t move, his gaze never leaving you, the air between you thick with unspoken tension. It was only when he stepped back, a thoughtful frown crossing his face, that you felt yourself exhale, your body tightening with a mix of fear and intrigue.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to frighten you. I just find it... fascinating how people like you always try so hard to keep their secrets.”
You said nothing, simply nodding, unsure of what to say. Grindelwald had a way of speaking, a way of looking at you, that made you feel both invisible and painfully exposed at the same time.
And then, with an almost casual grace, he turned on his heel and walked away, as if nothing had happened.
Days passed, and the encounters became more frequent. Sometimes, when you thought you were alone, you would catch his gaze from across the room, his eyes following your every move. It was impossible to ignore. He was always there, always watching, always aware of you.
You couldn’t understand it. He knew you were a spy—of that, you had no doubt. And yet, he didn’t expose you. He didn’t turn you in. Instead, he seemed to delight in the game, as though the fact that you were lying to him only made you more... interesting.
There were whispers among his followers that Grindelwald had become obsessed with you, but you tried to push those thoughts aside. You had a mission to complete, after all. Yet, every time you thought about your task, you felt a growing unease. The pull between the job you were sent to do and the man who now seemed to control your every thought was suffocating.
It all came to a head one night, when you were summoned to his private study.
The fire crackled in the hearth, casting eerie shadows on the walls as Grindelwald stood near the window, staring out at the moonlit landscape. His back was to you, but you could feel the weight of his presence, the tension in the room that made your skin prickle.
“You know, I’ve always been good at reading people.”
You swallowed hard, your breath catching in your throat.
“I’m sure you are.”
He turned slowly, his eyes gleaming with something dark and dangerous.
“But I’ve been wondering... Why are you really here?”
You couldn’t hide the flicker of panic that crossed your face.
“I told you—I’m here to help. I’m loyal to your cause.”
“No, that’s not it. You’re lying again.”
His gaze softened, but it wasn’t the softness of someone who cared. It was the softness of someone who had already decided what the truth was.
“You’re here because of him, aren’t you?”
He spit out the words in a slight disgust.
“I don’t know what you mean.”
Thecorner of his lips twitched into a small smile.
“No matter.”
He moved closer to you, raising his hand to your face.  His fingers brushed your cheek, cold and electric, and your body stiffened in response. His smile widened at the tremor that ran through you, his eyes alight with triumph. You could feel the web closing in, the trap that had been set long before you even realized it.
“He’ll never take you from me. I won’t let him.”
You wanted to scream, to run, but you couldn’t. His power over you was undeniable, intoxicating, and in that moment, you weren’t sure anymore whether you wanted to escape—or whether you had already become his. You’d come as Dumbledore's spy, but something about the man before you seduced you in a manner you hadn’t anticipated. From that night forward, you became something else in Grindelwald’s eyes. Not a spy. Not an enemy. You were a possession, a prize to be kept, locked away behind the walls of his fortress, where Dumbeldore could never reach you.

late post about how Mads and Jamie have the same bdays (Nov. 22) so I'm hc-ing Gellert's bday on the same day.
Meaning he could have asked Albus jokingly/sarcastically on the fateful day of their duel (nov 2, 1945) an advance birthday gift and Albus gives him a Judas's kiss before he surrenders Grindelwald to the ICW.
Silence through the smoke of the battle. It was still as warm as he remembers Albus's lips. "Send me off with a hex instead. A curse! Anything but that," he laughed as they both watched the fog lift and the aurors come close. "Anything but this." Grindelwald would probably chose a Dementor's kiss instead of this humiliation of the loser's walk.

I would love to write something where Poppy ends up being the mother to Newt Scamander but that would mean she's like 14 when she has his brother....
