I might write them if I were inspired enough, as it happens with any other kind of story. I think I can count on the fingers of one hand this kind of fics, and my favourite one is also the latest I wrote for Stardew Valley (Spirits' Eve is just Halloween).

What an excellent fucking question that I feel a LOT of pressure to answer well!

🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?

Write what you want to write. This is probably something that sounds obvious, but I think it's easy to fall into the trap of writing what you think people want to read. And it's a very understandable impulse (god knows I do it lol) but when you're starting out I think there's a lot of value in writing the tropes/characters/pairings/whatever that YOU vibe with the most.

Tropes are tropes for a reason. Do not fall into the trap of "oh, I shouldn't write a soulmate fic/there was only one bed/a coffee shop AU because lots of those already exist in this fandom". They exist because people LOVE THEM and are always keen for more cake.

Make friends! Join a discord server, drag your irl friends into fandom, whatever works for you. Fandom is a wonderful, collaborative space and I can't imagine doing it on my own.

Everything's made up and the points don't matter. And by 'the points' I mean kudos/hits/etc. And I'll be the first to admit that this is not advice I'm good at taking for myself 🤣 but I know for a FACT that some of the fics I've worked the hardest on and poured the most of myself into are the ones that have gotten less attention. There are some incredible hidden gems I've found when joining a new fandom with fuckall kudos that are absolutely amazing. Please, please don't get demoralised. Keep writing. ❤️

I have a very strong headcanon (which I go into in the WIP known as Flashback Fic 👀) that TK would misbehave and act like a total badass as a teenager and into his adulthood, but whenever Owen confronted him about it he'd burst into tears lol. Because deep inside he's a terrified muffin, and couldn't cope when his dad had to read him the riot act.

Wartime Prongsfoot when they don’t know what's going to happen because they might die at any moment, and when one of them finally confesses their feelings to the other.

Sirius being silently hurt but not saying anything about his feelings to James who is with Lily (in a non-Jilypad universe).

Sirius just generally hurting. Usually because of James who is either oblivious, unavailable or dead. Or Sirius hurting because of the injustice that he faces from the rest of the Order and pretty much the whole wizarding world unless your last name is Potter. The angst always gets to me.

😬 Which of your fics would you be most horrified for friends, family, or coworkers to stumble upon?

Surrounded by Black. 😂 I think the whole Sirius/James/Regulus mantrain thing would make me want to disappear into a hole in the ground if people outside of fandom knew about it.

✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?

I keep writing something like "it would have been funny if..." and then follows the reason why it's not funny.

James and Sirius pressing their foreheads together is also pretty standard in my stories. Not that I mind that it's often there, it feels like their thing.

Sirius pining for James. I should turn this HC around more often and make James pine for Sirius who is just living his best life.

I’ve been sick for days and am finally recovering and feeling motivated to write, and I was really in the groove on itpn when I suddenly spilled tea all over my laptop like an idiot 😭 it’s not looking good for my laptop so far, please pray for me because I really do not want to replace it😭

Anyways now I’m stuck writing on my ipad which is both annoying and also more painful because the Bluetooth keyboard I have is really tiny and my wrist is already in a brace from overuse in the past month (between writing, typing, drawing and filing papers all day) 😭😭 I’m endeavoring on but hopefully my laptop will miraculously live so I can edit and post a chapter next week bc I have no idea how’d I’d manage that on an ipad

I don't drink at all!

IDK if I'd call it being "sober" because I drink a glass of mead while in costume at Ren Fair once a year, but otherwise I don't drink at all.

In addition to wine giving me migraines, I associate alcohol with some dark periods of my life. People like to take advantage of impaired judgment, and I decided I didn't want that ever happening to me again, so I cut alcohol completely.

Before anyone goes "Gee Star, that was a lot of personal info for a Tumblr ask," please know I look at my alcohol-free choice as a super positive thing, and I'm very happy I no longer drink! :D

❌ What's a trope you will never write?

Not much comes to mind? M-preg is the only thing I can think of off the type of my head. I'm sure someone will suggest something they think I'd hate and I'll agree, though. 😂

🍌 In your opinion, what’s the funniest joke/reference/pun you’ve made in a fic?

This exchange from A Valentine for Alex still makes me giggle:

“Mm, you have a bit of an accent in the morning, too, love.” “That’s the Texan in me,” Alex says, leaning up to nibble on the soft spot behind Henry’s ear. “Speaking of which-” “Don’t,” Henry warns, though Alex can hear the smile on his face. “D’you want a little Texan in you?” Henry sighs heavily. “Actually, I’d prefer a big Texan in me. Do you happen to know one?” “Fuck you, sweetheart.” “Well, that’s the idea, love.”

🫐 What’s your favorite underrated thing in your fandom? (A ship that only you seem to write for, a character there’s almost no fics about, a trope that criminally hasn’t been written yet, etc.)

The fact that Alex was named after founding father Alexander Hamilton and Henry is British royalty, directly descended from those colonizers. I have this au in my head where Alex is playing the lead role in Hamilton on Broadway and Henry is playing King George and they dislike each other but then they get together. I want more fics in this kind of realm; I know it's kind of obscure, but my favorite romance trope is the two people who don't seem like they go together at all but then they do and it's perfect.

I'd also love some canon events from Pez's POV, I think that would be amazing!

The lake house. I have read several fics about what happened there when Henry left and I'd read a hundred more. Also, I ABSOLUTELY can't wait for fics inspired by RWRB2. 😭
