The Kickstarter for Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy is Live!!

Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy is our team’s debut TTRPG, over three years in the making! The campaign will run from April 10th to May 10th!

How far would you go to learn the truth?

Play amateur detectives caught up in things they barely understand, and explore how the lives of your characters unravel as they push themselves to dig deeper into the unknown!

Tense investigations!

Delve into an investigation-focused mystery and horror system that lets players take initiative and use their characters’ unique strengths to find clues and deduce conclusions themselves. A few bad rolls won’t get the party hopelessly stuck, but at the same time Eureka respects their intellect and lets them take charge of solving the mystery!

Character-driven gameplay!

Stats and abilities are based on who your character is as a person. Freeform character creation allows you to build a totally unique little guy, and have a totally unique gameplay experience with him! This is supported by the backbone of the Composure mechanic. Stress, fear, fatigue, and hunger will wear your investigators down as they trudge deeper into the unknown. Food, sleep, and connections with their fellow investigators are the only way to keep them going!

Secrets inside and out! 

Any investigator could be a monster, helping their friends while trying not to reveal their true natures. The party will learn to trust and rely on each other, or explode into a tangled net of drama!

Intense, tactical combat! 

Hits are devastating, and misses are unpredictable–firing a gun will always change the situation somehow, for better or for worse!

Now in Technicolor!

Evocative artwork from talented femme-fatales @chaospyromancy and @qsycomplainsalot and the mysterious @theblackwarden paint a gorgeously-realized portrait of a world with shadows lurking in every corner.

Elegantly designed and thoroughly playtested, Eureka represents the culmination of three years of near-daily work from our team, as well as a lot of our own money. We are almost at the end, we just need some financial support to put the finishing touches on it and make the final push to get it ready for official release!

With Dungeon Meshi being in public eye again with the Netflix series, I thought it would be a good time to shoutout again about Gourmet Street, my free (tips appreciated) Street Food Fantasy zine! Big thanks to our wonderful artist and layout man @feralindiecharlie

 A New Setting! - Gourmet Street, a collection of scattered and bizarrely connected alleyways, it seems to pop up in any settlement large enough to begin thinking of itself as a city. Stacked high in wood carts, laid out on intricate rugs, swimming in a myriad of sauces, food is the name of the game on Gourmet Street.

 ONE MILLION Food Vendors and Menus! - Never eat the same thing twice! Generate from 8,000 possible unique food vendors and LITERALLY ONE MILLION possible dishes; ranging from Soft-shelled Crabman Sandwiches with Tzatziki sauce and Egg Coffee, to Myconid Zapiekanka in Pesto with a shot of Absinthe! 

 Food Factions! - From the hyper-radical (and slightly deranged) Neuvo Gastro-Alchemists, to the fanatical and militant Vinegar Knights, the food factions each come with their own wants, goals, and boons, IF you choose to serve them...

 A One-Page Adventure: ESCAPE FROM GOURMET STREET! Help a pair (or trio) of star-crossed lovers escape from Gourmet Street in a Snake-and-Ladders inspired chase! Fend off rival lovers, food cart brawls and escaped dishes as you dash through the alleys of Gourmet Street!

 And More! Monsters, magic items, and cookbooks for both Players and GMs to use and abuse!

Lone Pine is a small town in New Mexico, near the border, built upon the blood and sweat of late 19th century gold miners. You will be an influencer coming to sign a contract with the trillion-dollar company, Forsythe-Newman Technology Management (FNTM), which is a household name and widely considered to distribute the best, most high-quality film making equipment on the market.

You take a plane to the Albuquerque International Sunport, and from there you head south on the Rail Runner Express, the state-wide railroad. You ride in the train car for several hours, watching the sprawling desert scenery rush past, and notice the presence of humans becoming dauntingly scarce. You disembark in Truth of Consequences, the home of the infamous Toybox Killer, and from there, your contracting company provides a car with a driver to take you the rest of the way down to Lone Pine.

The driver explains that you've been provided with housing, food, and brand-new production equipment in exchange for living in Lone Pine to produce content regarding the eerie paranormal activity reported there. They make extended and uncomfortable eye contact in the rear-view mirror, and when they stop to let you out, you hardly have time to take your bags from the car before the driver peels out and races back down the road from whence you came.

System Spotlight: Fate

The Fate system is freely available, and anyone can publish their own setting using its rules. There are three variations on the FATE rules.

Fate Core: the original Fate rulebook.

Fate Accelerated: a lighter variant, with characters having fewer 'aspects' than in Fate Core.

Fate Condensed: the most essential elements of Fate Core, for ease of reference for GMs familiar with the system.

The core SRD has one of my favourite tips that can be applied to dice rolls in any game!

If you want to run adventures in Fate: there are so many amazing settings to choose from! The ones below are all PWYW. This makes the initial cost of starting a Fate game (given the rulebooks are free) minimal.

🩸DEATH ON THE EVE OF SAMHAIN🩸 This Friday the Bugbear Brothers are releasing a Halloween one-shot: our gift to you! The one evening adventure centres on the archbishop DelQuincy who is found massacred in his bed. There’s only one problem—he lived alone in an abandoned church. By order of the Abbey, the adventures are charged with trying to recover the relics in DelQuincy’s possession before his untimely murder and figure out what fate befell him!

This is a low level adventure but has a few pieces of juicy art and even some fun magic items, including Alm: the Daemonhammer!
