gripping the table nails digging in the wood blood everywhere. im so glad u asked :)
the second perspective is a bsd fic for both skk and sskk (both with about equal screentime for anyone with favourites) and it’s an insanely well-written murder mystery by @wildflowerteas. like genuinely @tallysescape has an actual physical conspiracy wall and @rotisseries has made a map of all the relevant locations. it updates every sunday and finally I’ve caught up so we all go insane about it on a gc bc like I said ITS SO INSANELY WELL WRITTEN AND THE TWISTS ARE INSANE THE PACING IS INSANE THE CHARACTERISATION IS INSANE I GENUINELY CANNOT FAULT THIS FIC WHICH IS CRAZY TO SAY OF ANY FIC BUT IN THE BSD FANDOM IS DOWNRIGHT REVOLUTIONARY

Every time I think about the fact that Akechi was Joker’s justice, and vice versa, I lose my mind at how intimate it is.
Akechi made you promise before he died to take down the man that had hurt you both, and when another man brought him back to play puppets he asks you to put an end to it as well. Akechi’s justice was never about him doing the final strike, his was allowing someone else to do it for him. His justice was having someone who cared enough to listen to him, and to do as he wished.
But for Joker, his justice was taking down the man who had killed his friend and framed him with his own two hands. His justice was deciding, that no, he refused to live in an illusion and then did something about it himself. Joker’s justice was taking the injustice done to you, and those around you, and being given the chance to end it yourself.
Akechi’s justice was having someone listen, and Joker’s justice was being given the chance to enact it himself. They perfectly mirrored each other, and understood what the other needed without even saying anything about it. It’s just so intimate, how could I not lose my mind over them?
i think its funny that finn has played both ends of the dealing with being queer spectrum. boris could not care less at the fact that he also likes guys. hes just here for a good time. and mike is just holding onto his loveless relationship with his girlfriend so desperately and didnt hug his best friend who he hasnt seen in months because hes so scared of looking gay.
and richie was a bit rough but he was understandably more concerned about the child eating clown demon.
I feel like Ferryman should be allowed to be involved with the (or a) Mike pummeling as a treat in a support role (I dont see them wanting to actually fight Mike) so that they can get their holy cloth back, look at the pummeled Micheal, and start tearing the cloth into strips to bandage Mike's wounds because the Ferryman has always been the better person and Micheal's condemnation will not change that.
OUUUGHHH I LOVE THIS....it would be an extremely eye-opening experience for michael, but he would be overly stubborn about it's ramifications because for the life of him he cannot accept that a single one of the damned deserve anything more than what he believes they chose. when the ferryman comes accompanied by gabriel and v1, to him it seems like an obvious affront to his authority - they've returned to get revenge for his actions against them, showing clear contempt for god's law as he enforces it. the sinner should accept their punishment, should accept his rule, yet that assumption can't even hold water within the first moments of the confrontation as the ferryman is quick to show their deference to him. they bow low again and do not speak a word to him, his own arrogance only deeming fit to address gabriel rather than the ones beside him. and gabriel is quick to tell him all that he asks for: the holy cloth, the one michael stole from the ferryman. in his words he makes it clear he has come to collect it of his own accord, but michael is incensed at the accusation - the cloth is of heaven, under his property as its prince. he cannot steal from a sinner's own wrongful gains. the ferryman wishes they could speak, but they want nothing less than to invoke michael's ire on them once more...and he has not spoken to them. so a fight is inevitable, but they refuse to do any harm to one of god's servants, especially one so exalted.
because the ferryman didn't exactly...want this. they want their holy cloth back, they are endlessly grateful that gabriel and v1 were willing to seek michael out for it, but the confrontation isn't at all their wish. still they came, because they couldn't allow gabriel or v1 to risk themselves for their sake - they would do all they could to assist, but made it clear they would not engage michael whatsoever. the two understand the ferryman's position, allowing them to stay on the backlines and offer what support that they can. and it's immediately obvious to michael that they abstain from attacking him even if he targets them directly. fair enough, as gabriel and v1 quickly mount a defense for them, but it rattles him enough that speaks out a single word to them - "coward". finally in return the ferryman's thin voice can answer him, that they wish nothing but peace and healing upon st. michael. it seems they can say nothing right to him though, not even their blessing, as there's just a single beat before michael is infuriated by the remark. to be pitied by a sinner, for the damned to pray for his health, makes him acutely aware of every inch of rot now on full display. he's something miserable, even to the one who tore their own flesh from their body for the grief they felt. and gabriel knows this means they'll have to fully kick the shit out of him before they can recover what's been lost.
it's a grueling fight, but the ferryman remains steadfast, only watching their backs to block incoming attacks and assisting v1 with blood from time to time (since michael's does so little for it) but when michael falls, when he grudgingly passes the cloth back along to gabriel, the ferryman is struck by him collapsed onto the ground. he's suffering, deeply. god's highest angel, wings crumpled up in exhaustion as sticky, too dark blood clings to exposed bones and wounds litter decayed skin. they're sure every battle speeds the process, that he loses pieces of himself and so expedites his wasting. a wave of sadness rolls over them, unspeakable grief shaking them even as gabriel returns their cloth to them. michael is the leader of god's army, the slayer of lucifer who stood in defense of all the meek flock, and the ferryman can't stand to see him so weak, so vulnerable. in spite of everything, they move past gabriel and bow down again to michael before cautiously moving to tend his wounds with strips of their own cloth. michael moves to hold a hand against them, but freezes as the ferryman sees to him. he tells them he needs nothing from the damned. the ferryman knows this. he tells them this will earn them no favor in heaven, their regard is lost. they knows this as well. so why? it does them no good, and it is presumptuous, offensive.
and i THINK the ferryman gets the chance to repay michael JUST a bit by quoting luke 6:27-36 right to his face: "'but i say to you that hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. to him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from him who takes away your cloak do not withhold your coat as well. give to everyone who begs from you; and of him who takes away your goods do not ask them again. and as you wish that men would do to you, do so to them.'" fine. ok. he KNOWS. but i think they continue, because he needs some impressing: "'if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? for even sinners love those who love them. and if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? for even sinners do the same. and if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. but love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the most high; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish. be merciful, even as your father is merciful.'" which is a HARD hit directly into his ego. they expect nothing from him, but they will serve him as he deserves as the angel he is...or perhaps once was. they adhere to the teachings, they keep the faith without hope, but they are essentially indirectly implying that michael needs to look inward now. he is full of hatred, trying to prove so much to so many instead of just...doing the work. keeping his faith. the ferryman knows it is difficult, they understand the pull of anger (they are in wrath too, after all) but he has their sincerest prayers, however little they mean, that he too can heal.
michael is shocked silent, retreating into his stoicism when anger can't serve and he has no choice but to swallow his pride as the ferryman treats him with gabriel watching on. he feels. weak under their gaze. it's unbearable to him, but he must bear it. soon the ferryman finishes their work and a silent pause passes between them before they thank michael for all that he's done. he has been all of their great shield, he completed a wonderful service to god and the whole of humanity, and the ferryman is forever grateful to him for his tireless work against all the evil they have seen in hell. if nothing else...their place here makes them understand just how much michael truly did for god's kingdom, and so they are thankful for that. they bow once more before departing, and michael is left to think on all they did, the little they spoke. he shouldn't care, he shouldn't give a second thought to the damned, yet this encounter would absolutely sit with him like a stone for a long time.
just realised that when you tag things "the magnus protocol" that's not the same as the magnus archives. anyway what is going on in magnus land is all well? <3
all is NOT well in magnus land, but at the same time it is FANTASTIC. the magnus protocol is a new series that's a follow-up to the magnus archives. it's linked, but not the same universe- or rather, it is the same universe? it was revealed at the end of the magnus archives that there was a multiverse situation, and so i think it takes place in another universe after jon destroyed the magnus institute and opened up the multiverse. i think. maybe. we're two episodes in and there are already a lot of links and jon and martin's voices have appeared in a computer program, so we're suffering because our blorbos are BACK but they're not RIGHT and we're also doing fantastically because more magnus!!! more lore!!! more of jonny sims telling us spooky little stories!!! i hope this conveys it!!!
i dont know what exactly triggered people to be so weird towards me since last year honestly, genuinely i dont know if its like, the art i make or the things i like, or the fact i gained a bigger following so more chances of strange people, or the fact that im old enough for people to not feel weird about being weird towards me (as if me being over 20 was ya know, an excuse to say bizarre shit to me), or the fact ive been into making fanart of guys people also get weird over, i dunno, weirdo galore since 2023 in this guy's social media
my parents were doing the hypothetical 'if you won the lottery and never had to worry about money again what would you do?' and their answers were both like 'I'd start X business' 'I'd travel to X places and buy XYZ extravagant things' 'I'd start a nonprofit and work there instead'
and i'm like 'i want a small house with a yard (so i can have dogs) and my own art studio. in the mornings i'd go weightlift and then throughout the day i'd just make whatever creative projects i'd want to make and then in the evenings i'd go be a part of local theatre or an improv group or something. would probably make some killer cosplays and go to conventions. i'd keep enough that i could live comfortably without having to work and the rest would go to various charities.'
(and then they're like 'oh well you'd probably have a whole room of guitars' and i'm like 'idk maybe i'd have 5 or 6 guitars but not a whole room, at that point you're not even playing most of them and they're just sitting there on the wall' and other things like that)
hhhhhhh and it’s the way Fran giving up the party means that she lost the only truly peaceful moment they had… the memory of their first and last beautiful night together… the memory of their first kiss… she sacrificed the foundation of her relationship with the Betrayer to get the tiniest bit of information about the gods who aren’t going to help them. one of her happiest and most valuable and most important memories since falling and such a vital part of what she is to Falen and what he is to her and she practically threw it away… she’s lost their first kiss… their dance… the first memory of him free to be himself without the tattoo… oh darling what have you done
I'm Done! I've wanted to try making an animatic for forever! It was just a matter of figuring out how to get music into csp and that turned out to be Easier Than I Thought. Was I planning on animating my beautiful girl Jan to carol of the bells as my first animatic? No. But it happened to be the holidays when i started this and i wanted to finish it while i had the motivation.
So we get this! Definitely a learning opportunity, and I think i got better as i went along? I certainly got faster at figuring out how to get mind images onto the canvas and i'm genuinely very happy with how quite a few of the shots came out!
Program used: Clip Studio Paint
Audio used: Carol of the Bells cover by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
(story under the cut)
Jan (phur in purple) is attending the annual Ice Dancing Festival in a small town by a lake as she tries to do every year. The day is lovely, phurs of all ages are skating on the frozen surface of the lake and gathering in anticipation of the later competitions. A growing glow is all the warning the phurs get before the lake is cracked open and a hydra-like elemental tears it's way from its seal beneath the lake. As the revelers scramble their way to shore across the shifting ice, Jan runs towards the hydra hoping to stop it before it makes it into town. As she throws her power at it, hoping to destroy it with sheer force, it only proves to make the situation worse and the onslaught of its many heads proves overwhelming. Thrown into the freezing lake and dazed, Jan is at first despairing over her inability to stop the hydra. She then takes a moment to realize she shouldn't try to destroy it so much as restrain and reseal it. She takes hold of the residual sealing magic of the lake and races to intercept the hydra before it can reach shore. With the full might of her magic bent towards pulling it towards the middle of the lake, the hydra proves easier to manage. It is still with no small effort that Jan is able to drag it under and reseal it under the ice, making it a problem for another day. Whether the festival will continue, or they'll call it off this year, remains to be seen.
This was mostly an excuse to animate the fight scene that plays in my head whenever this song comes on. It's more of a slice of life self-contained scene with no real effect on the overarching lore of the world. Jan is a long-time character of mine who acts as a sort of avatar of myself (she isn't a sona, more like a warlock/patron sort of vibe) and ends up living a very long time. This scene takes place on a day off earlier in her life when she's is still learning a lot of the lessons that shape her through the ages, this one being a simple: sometimes problems require a little more creative thinking and a little less brute force to solve.
