#on Friday one of my students was like 'are you a swiftie' and i said yes#and this one boy was like i have never heard you mention her#and i gave myself a mental high five for my own restraint#i have really tried to tamp down on that this year because things just get out of hand too fast otherwise#then of course 6th period came around and my defenses were gone and it was Friday and several students were gone#so I spoke on her and what I believed her legacy would be lol#and then I felt really bad about that decision :((((( for some reason#the kids loved it. but that is no sign that it was the right call!#anyway still reflecting#i did love that the student didn't know#i really want to be restrained both in general but especially about Taylor in my professional setting#and just. not be opening myself up to needless barbs about her but also not alienating people?#i HATE alienating people i want to reach all of them and the less I have standing in my way the better#so kind of constantly diffusing what threatens to blow up out of proportion#is like. half of my job#another student asked me immediately afterwards if i liked Kanye and i said gently that i did not know Kanye's music so i couldn't tell him#but like. i'm not getting into it you know? i'm not getting into the Taylor Culture Wars or whatever. I will not fan the flames of that#with students especially. but also i do care about her she's such a real part of my heart and my outlook#that sometimes I feel compelled to speak!#and just let them know what's going on in my heart#but yeah. as with many feelings relating to Taylor i often feel bad or foolish immediately afterwards for being vulnerable#kind of no position more vulnerable than taking the side of a millionaire pop star that people love to hate on#kidding!!! but I mean it's not wholly untrue#i like to think i try to move the space of the conversation immediately into something both grounded and relevant#when I do bring her up. and hopefully away from the worst bits of the inflammatory nature of Taylor discussions.#i hope it's healing for somebody/does any good.#but i have no way of knowing#i'm just rambling. it's saturday night and i had half a very strong drink#so my mind's just mulling.

This is just curiosity if anyone else notices this. People say that the TFOTA fandom holds no toxicity but I don’t think that’s the case. We just don’t have ship-wars. But have you noticed that a good amount of the fandom has a holier than thou attitude on how you’re supposed to enjoy the fandom? I admit I dislike wren and have been open about it in the past, But I noticed that the fandom will defend her and call you names for stating your dislike of her and being rude to you than do the same thing you’re doing with a character they love but do it with Taryn or another character they dislike, and hate noticing that they’re doing the same thing and call you names for stating that. I also noticed that some fans will call you names and be rude to you for having a different opinion on the next faerie book. Say the fandom is not for you for not liking things they like, and call you toxic for not having the same headcanons as them or not liking the same thing as them and being open about it. It’s especially bad on Reddit. But it can be bad on tumblr or any platform that has them do the same actions but say you’re the toxic one for not liking things they like. I’m curious if you’ve noticed that
hi! I'm really sorry you've had those experiences. honestly, I'm pretty new to tfota tumblr, and I don't engage with the fandom anywhere else (you mentioned reddit), so I've had less time to pick up on behaviors like that. I don't know if I'm lucky, or if I've just cultivated a pretty chill group of followers and accounts that I follow, but my time here has been pretty lacking in toxicity (& if people seem like they're trying to be inflammatory, I usually try not to engage)
in general, fandom lives in this really interesting intersection between entertainment (so we get the "let people like what they like; it doesn't matter" crowd) and truth/meaning (so we get the "stories reflect your ethics & our world & therefore shouldn't just be mindlessly enjoyed" crowd). I'm just a person yapping on the internet, but if I had to take a stab at where a lot of fandom toxicity comes from, it's in the clash between those two ideas. everyone has the right to form their own opinions and preferences for the media they consume, and yet at the same time, we often want to have conversations about what those stories mean & whether their themes are good reflections of our real world.
but if a character is your favorite babygirl who can do no wrong & you see someone criticizing their actions (or, alternatively, if you're deeply disturbed by the themes in a story & see someone ranking it as one of their favorite books), it can feel personal. we can forget that the individual behind that account is a whole person with life experiences that form their perspectives & whose opinions are no less valuable than our own.
I'm sorry you've experienced name calling and gatekeeping; that's really unfair. fandom is for everyone (just don't cause harm), and people are allowed to have differing opinions. I wish open & respectful conversations were more common than they are, but they do exist, and that's why I'm still here—I've had so much fun jabbering with people (who often have different perspectives on the books we read!) because I learn from them. I hope you're able to find that comfortable niche here, too.

just saw interstellar in imax. love this movie so much. literally any critique of it that i see just shows that the person critiquing it didnt actually watch the fucking movie or havent seen it in ten years and think they remember it perfectly still
#‘why didnt they just not grow crop monocultures’#are you fucking stupid the whole first act of the movie is about how theres a disease that infects all living plant life#and year by year it completely eradicates crop by crop until corn is all that they CAN grow#and even THEN corn is still set to go extinct within a few years too#‘why do they have to leave the earth instead of saving it’ bc they HAVE NO FOOD#you can critique WHY the movie necessitates space travel over saving the earth. like why its written that way#but any critique of the setting that leads up to the space travel in te form of ‘why didnt they just do x’ is so stupid#especially when all those other options were already discussed in the film itself !!#anyway and dont even get me started on the 🤓 erm actually nerd physicsbros who hate this movie because#OHHH THE TIDAL FORCES ON MILLER’S PLANET WOULDNT BE THAT EXTREME#THIS RUINS THE WHOLE MOVIE FOR ME#FUCK OFF!!! have you even HEARD of artistic liberty BY GODDDDDDD#would the tidal forces be that strong? NO. DOES IT MATTER WHEN IT MAKES AN ICONIC CINEMATIC SCENE? NO !!!!I#its science FICTION. FICTION !!!#brot posts#or ‘the movie literally proves itself wrong because they fixed the earth in the end without needing a new planet’#ARE YOU STUPID. THEYRE LIVING ON A GIANT SPACE STATION#THEY STILL HAD TO LEAVE THE EARTH TO SURVIVE.#or the physicsbro who hate on the wormhole paper analogy scene because oh thats such a cliche analogy#i'll admit i always kind of agreed. i thought it was a necessary evil because these are high physics concepts for most audiences#but upon rewatching it now? i realize it was not an analogy to explain wormholes. they literally admit in the scene that its a cliche#bro literally uses it instead as an analogy for DIMENSIONS. he says the common wormhole analogy presents wormholes as 2d holes#but we live in 3d hence a 3d hole is not a circle but a sphere#he literally does not use it as a tired cliche analogy for wormholes he uses it as an analogy for dimensionality !!!!#all you bitches who throw these critiques around havent even watched the scene you're critiquing !!!

Actually, the more I stew on it and put it together... there is a trend for people to say older titles in JRPG series aren't worth playing. Either for "lack of story" (a red flag to me), "bad/outdated graphics" (people being elitist or lacking open taste), or "bad/boring gameplay" (heaven forbid a game be different or more simple).
Besides how much I could pick apart with each of those, it always strikes me as odd that this is also treated as definitive, objective fact. There's no room for preferences at all, or a general interest in the series as a whole or its roots. It's just a fact that old games are not worth it to a lot of people.
I see the same with old books and stuff too, and especially older manga and anime. And while there could be something to say in terms of trigger warnings for stuff that may have been more common in older works, or just telling people what to prepare for (which is also a weird sentiment depending on how it's delivered), it's just really bewildering to me how much people invalidate.
I grew up raised by my elders. Like, not the generation above me, but generations older than them. So I grew up with older music, television and film, books, etc. It just feels natural to me to take an interest in older stuff, and at least to decide on my own if I like it or not on a case by case basis. And even if I don't like where something started, I try to acknowledge its roots. And it baffles me how kind of abnormal that seems now.

i. there's this video of a guy dancing on his tiptoes. i will begrudgingly admit the song is kind of catchy actually. i don't think it's the worst song i've ever heard. he seems passionate about it. but it is embarrassing, how he's dancing.
ii. you know where this story is going, unfortunately, and so do i.
iii. three weeks ago i had to drag half a dead rabbit out of my dog's mouth. i was just recently discussing how cruel things feel lately. that the way the world is shifting feels mean. three days ago, a random woman rolled down her window to snap at me because she missed her turn. this is now routine.
iv. 11 years ago in october, i made a post about how we shouldn't make fun of people for doing brave, vulnerable things. it has over 400k notes. people - at the time - seemed to generally agree with me. we have all felt shy and insecure when we share an intimate part of ourselves. we have heard someone at a concert say "that's fucking embarrassing" and said to ourselves - oh, this person is unsafe to be vulnerable in front of. we have said i can't act like that in public. we have left our art and passion in the dark. i think there will never be enough graveyard space for the art we have killed because what if others shame me for it.
v. the thing i was bullied for in high school was because i was a "predatory lesbian." a popular girl i'd literally never spoken to just decided she didn't like me and announced i was "stalking" her. to this day i have no idea what motivated this - i think i was just shy and poor and awkward and ugly. the perfect target. what they don't really ever show in movies is how quickly it moves, how suddenly strange people in the hallways are attacking you about it. they also don't show you that the bullies get this strange ... glee out of it. like, it's fun for them. it's enrichment. everyone else is in on the joke. suck it up, kid.
vi. so far, from what i have seen, creators that stand up for the musician all seem to have the same story: when i asked why we're bullying a random guy, people actually got mad that i asked. i've had similar things happen to me when i ask for us to be less comfortable with our anonymous cruelty. when an internet stranger says "be kind, it saves lives" - people find it funny to say fuck you i hope everyone kills themselves. pages and pages of people saying the same bullshit. sitting in their little caves, eating their own humor. it's just genuinely exhausting. the natural endpoint of "cringe culture" is that even kindness is cringe-worthy.
vii. loneliness is an epidemic. but where are you going to make your community? call your representative. go back to bed about it.
viii. due to how i was raised, i am always confused by cruelty. i understand the american isolationist belief "i can do whatever i want" - sure. but why wouldn't you want to be kind? i have lived too many bad things. i cannot be the epicenter of someone else's bad dream.
ix. it's just that if we were going to bully someone relentlessly, why is it never the healthcare CEOs. why isn't it the fascists. why isn't it, like, someone who you could at least argue "deserves" it. why is it always just some guy in socks singing a pretty mid song? or a person that doesn't look like you, just, like existing.
x. it's just that i think people enjoy doing it. they want to do it because they get some kind of masturbatory release from it - like a shrug or a splinter, they all seem to say the same thing - come on, it's funny.
xi. the world is sometimes beautiful, and sometimes you make something. the world is sometimes terrible, and you are worried they won't accept what your hands can wring. you open the instagram comments and they're still saying all sorts of shit to just - like - a normal guy. and some part of you thinks: if that was me. good lord. if that was me i'd -
xii. somewhere there is a graveyard. someone is already burying their hopes and dreams.

Tumblr media
“Have you heard about the new family who moved into town? The son is a real piece of work!”
“He’s twenty-one but acts like he’s still sixteen on that damn motorcycle. No class or consideration whatsoever!”
“Maybe they’ll keep him in check if they decide to come to church this weekend. You know Reverend Park has no time for miscreants and delinquents.”
The familiar crowd on your mother’s front porch greets you as you’re attempting to exit the house. They cool themselves off with their makeshift fans and drink your mother’s homemade lemonade in the Saturday sun, continuing to harp on the locals in town that they’ve known for years.
Somewhere in their conversation, they drifted to the topic of the new family that moved in across the street. Three days was all it took for them to begin spouting their judgemental observations, every act from the new middle-aged couple and their son fodder for their discussion.
You smile politely with every fiber of your being, despite your instincts to snap at them and be on your merry way. If only they knew how ironic they are, pointing fingers at others from their high horses when the town kept enough space for their dirty little secrets. “Nice to see you this morning, ladies.”
They say your name with grace, their tones all air with little substance. “On your way to bible study?” Mrs. Choi asks, gazing at you from the rim of her glass.
You shake your head. “Just tutoring.”
“With the Nishimura boy? What a sweet kid.” When Riki’s name leaves Mrs. Lee’s lips, all the women hum in agreement. “Such a bright future ahead of him.”
“Of course, as long as he passes English,” you joke. The women’s faces don’t change, not taking your teasing with an ounce of anything but seriousness. The bags under their eyes, lipstick smudged in the tiny corners of their teeth, and piercing attitudes begin to damper your excitement for the day. You bid them goodbye quickly with another smile, walking down the stairs and onto the path down the street.
As you turn down the sidewalk, still hearing the resounding chatter from the women, your thoughts run wild. Is this what life would be like when you were older, doing nothing but kicking your feet up on a neighbor’s porch with only other people’s business to fill your time? Spending endless days and nights at church, listening to the same sermons leave Reverend Park’s lips until you become as overly critical as they all are?
The screech of tires halts your thoughts in their place. “Watch it!” A young man’s voice pierces the morning air, making you step back even further. You hadn’t realized how far you had walked into the road until you were back on the safety of the sidewalk. You trip on a crack between the two slabs of concrete, falling backwards and meeting the ground hard.
“Shit, are you okay?” He takes his helmet off, immediately hooking it to his handlebars to check on you.
Sim Jaeyun.
You had not met him formally until this moment, but the motorcycle and undeniable looks gave away his status as your new neighbor. Your parents had decided to let the new family settle in before trying to visit and introduce themselves. If they could see you now, your maxi skirt hitched up to your knees and the boy barely a foot away from you, they would have had a field day.
Sure, you both are of age. Butlike Mrs. Choi, Mrs. Lee, and other local townsfolk always do, people will talk about such a compromising position if you aren’t careful.
All those thoughts fade away though when Jake kneels beside you, his face flooded with concern. His eyes linger on the broken skin on your legs and then across your flushed face. “Does it hurt?”
You shake your head. “It’s barely a scratch. Sorry I almost ran into you.”
“More like almost ran into my bike.” He laughs, his expression one of relief as well as humor. “I’m just glad you’re in one piece.”
“Thank the lord.” You brush your hands on your skirt and begin to stand up, but Jake grabs you by the hand to help, taking all your weight with him.
“Thank you,” you say, brushing the free hair from your braid out of your face.
“You’re welcome.” He unclips his helmet from the bar and gestures back to his bike. “I can drive you to wherever you’re going if you want. I don’t have a second helmet, but–”
You can’t help the laugh that escapes your lips, the thought of riding on the back of a motorcycle too ridiculous to envision given your status as the deacon’s daughter. What would people say?
Jake just furrows his brows, his lips turning up at the corners. “Is my offer that funny?”
“No,” you say, “I would love to, it’s just–”
“Sim Jaeyun!” The shrill sound of Mrs. Choi’s voice makes you take another step away from Jake, unaware you were as close as you were to him. His presence seems to be magnetic, just like his smile. “Stay away from her or so help me God!”
Jake turns to the old woman down the road and nods his head, trying to be respectful but clearly irritated from her meddling. “Yes ma’am,” he yells, stepping back and getting closer to his bike.
“Maybe another time,” Jake says, “when you’re not flocked by the whining wine moms.”
You laugh and nod. “Maybe.”
Jake rides away on his bike, the wispy ends of his hair your last picture of him before he makes a sharp turn at the end of your street.
Tumblr media
“Why do I need to learn this?” Riki groans, laying his head flat against his desk. The church bells ring as he knocks his head in the same rhythm against the polished wood.
“Because you need to be able to interpret text if you want to go off to college, Nishi. Otherwise you’ll be illiterate and an embarrassment to the entire town!” You put on your best harping, disapproving voice. It makes Riki laugh as he lifts his head. You’re glad at least the younger kids appreciate your sense of humor, unlike the older brood flooding your hometown.
“Alright, fine.” He opens his copy of Heart of Darkness, beginning to read the page in front of him. “I avoided a vast artificial hole somebody had been digging on the slope…”
A knock on the classroom door makes you and Riki turn. Yeri opens it with a shy grin, saying your name with the same nature. “Someone’s here to see you!”
“Who?”
“Some cute guy on a motorcycle? But don’t tell Jungwon I said that!” She runs back out the door and leaves you puzzled. Surely it’s not Jake. You just met him; he wouldn’t make the effort to try and follow you to your tutoring session, especially at the church of all places.
You head to the window to see Jake sitting against his bike, looking around at his surroundings. He’s wearing the same leather jacket and gray jeans, his white shirt marked with several spots of sweat. Riki comes up behind you, making a sound of acknowledgement. “Oh, that’s Jake!”
“Jake?” You look closer. “I thought his name was Jaeyun.”
“Yeah, but I call him Jake.” He laughs. “He’s my cousin.”
You nod your head, taking in his words. Jake’s sudden move made a lot more sense, seeing as Riki’s mother was getting sicker every day. She must have needed some help from her family to not only manage her household, but make sure Riki stayed on track.
“He probably wants to see you. Yeri must’ve gotten it all mixed up.”
Riki grabs his phone, scrolling through texts with his thumb. “Actually, he did mention almost running over a cute girl on his way to work.” The young boy smirks. “I’m gonna assume that’s you?”
You blush, the flush on your cheeks making you feel hot. “Whatever. He’s probably just picking you up!”
“I brought my own bicycle, dude. And as cool as Jake is, his driving makes me nauseous.” Riki begins packing up his belongings on the desk as you wonder what Jake would want to say that hadn’t already been said earlier. Surely he had no interest in talking to you beyond another apology for almost killing you earlier, not that you would have noticed.
As your thoughts continue on, you barely hear Riki’s parting words. “Have fun making out with my cousin!”
You venture outside and are greeted to Jake’s soft smile as he looks you over. “Didn’t expect you to be teaching my cousin how to read.”
You laugh. “When would that have come up? Before or after I fell face-first on the sidewalk?”
“Technically, you fell on your ass.” He looks over the cuts on your leg again. “Still doesn’t hurt?”
“Barely remember it.”
“Damn. Didn’t realize I was so forgettable,” he teases. You shuck your backpack over your shoulder, pretending his joke didn’t land. But you can’t help how your mouth curves into a grin. “Wanna take me up on that ride now? I don’t see any wine moms in sight.”
Being clear headed and not in the midst of a compromising position, you take a better look at Jake. He may look rugged from the neck down, muscles standing out through his jacket, but his face is incredibly youthful and vulnerable without a touch of hardness. Maybe the wine moms had gotten it wrong; maybe Jake’s actually a stand-up guy bundled up in a lot of leather.
Before you can answer, your father seems to appear from thin air. He wraps his arm around your shoulder. “Mr. Sim, pleasure to meet you officially.”
Your father holds out his hand for Jake, and Jake takes it with a steadfast grip. “Nice to meet you too sir. My mother was telling me how much you’ve been helping my aunt since she can’t attend services anymore.”
“Akemi is a pillar of our church. It’s only right to take care of one of our own as the deacon.” Your father squeezes you tighter to his side. “Glad to see you and my daughter have met. I hope she’s made a good impression upon you.”
“Yes sir. Very much so.” He smiles in your direction. The dimple in his cheek makes your heart flutter in your chest, the butterflies undeniable.
“Well, please tell your parents to come to ours soon for dinner. It would be a pleasure.” Your father begins the quick walk to his car, the silent request for you to follow him clear in his stern posture. You give Jake an apologetic smile before you leave, hoping your eyes hold the promise of taking him up on that ride someday.
When you’re both out of earshot and in the confines of your father’s car, he turns to you with a frown. “Do not get yourself involved with that boy. He doesn’t strike me as very forthcoming.”
You stutter out an excuse. Surely the first day of knowing Jake wouldn’t be the last. “F-Father–”
“Listen to me, sweetie. I know what I’m talking about.” He starts the car and begins the drive home, tightening his fists on the steering wheel. “I mean it. Do not see that boy again.”
Tumblr media
The next morning, you’re sitting in one of the front pews with your mother, Yeri, and her mother. You see your fellow townsfolk in attendance in the other pews, Jungwon being one of them, Yeri’s longtime boyfriend. Mrs. Choi and Mrs. Lee look like they are partially focused on the attendees, but also on their own gossip.
All of you are dressed in your best outfits, your hair wrapped in a bun to maintain the peak of modesty. It doesn’t seem particularly realistic for a higher power to be judging you for your hairdo, but you gave in to your mother’s ridiculous requests as always. “We are important people in this community, darling,” your mother said as she stuck the umpteenth bobby pin in your hair. “If they can’t trust us, who can they trust?”
Riki sits behind you, his pew empty save for him. When you offer the empty spot next to you before the procession starts, he shakes his head. “Jake and his folks will be here any second.”
Your gut tightens, the words of your father playing over in your head. You know you have to heed his orders at all times, but the excitement you feel at the prospect of seeing Jake is unavoidable.
A minute before your childhood friend Heeseung sits at the piano to play the beginning of How Great Is Our God, Jake and his family walk inside. Jake’s impeccably dressed, clad in a red dress-shirt and suit pants. His sleeves are rolled up to his elbows, revealing a handful of tattoos you didn’t notice the day prior. He has his mother’s arm in one hand and a bible in the other, looking completely out of place but incredibly mesmerizing.
He winks at you when he sits down, making you turn your head back to your friend at the piano. You follow in your mother’s and Yeri’s lead, singing alongside them and forgetting the new buzz in your veins. You can feel his eyes on you throughout the songs and sermons, and you should say that you don’t enjoy it, but you don't kid yourself. His attention makes your body tingle in all the right and wrong ways.
You excuse yourself in the intermission, walking outside until you’re a good ten paces away from the church. You take several pins out of your hair, grunting. The incessant tools had been scratching your scalp uncomfortably for the past three hours, and it feels like freedom taking them out one at a time.
It isn’t that you don’t believe in a higher power or the teachings your father and Reverend Park have supplied you with your entire life. The town is just too suffocating on days like these, setting you up to feel like you aren’t good enough no matter how hard you try every day to perfect yourself.
The fashion show of your humble, presentable outfit, the whispered chatter from your community, the watchful eyes of holy men. They all make your skin crawl, that itch only intensifying with every day that passes. How could you stay in such a small room for years and feel misunderstood by everyone?
Jake saunters up to you, making you gasp in surprise. “Jesus Christ!”
He smirks, hands stuffed in his pockets. “I thought you weren’t supposed to say his name in vain.”
You shrug, smiling in relief to find it’s just him and nobody else. No-one to meddle, judge, or question your absence. “I’ll just say a few words of penance. I’m sure he’ll forgive me.”
“I knew there was a reason I liked you.” Jake chuckles and steps closer to you, his eyes lingering on your dress. It’s incredibly modest, the only skin showing high above your cleavage. but the look in his eyes still makes your nerves tremble.
You wonder what thoughts are swimming in his head and if a majority of them are impure. Would it be so wrong to confess that you feel the same? That whatever he’s imagining mirrors your own fantasies ten times over?
“The updo doesn’t suit you,” he says finally.
You giggle and cross your arms. “It doesn’t, huh?”
He steps closer, so close you can feel his breath on your skin. It lingers across your neck and shoulder blades. You shudder, hoping he doesn’t notice how his presence affects you. He reaches behind you and takes hold of the hair tie keeping your bun together. He expertly undoes it, your hair falling in waves around your shoulders.
Before he walks away, the church bells signaling the recommencement of the procession, he whispers in your ear, “Much more breathtaking with your hair down, angel.”
Tumblr media
The next time you see Jake, he’s across from you at your family’s dinner table, all laughs with Jungwon and Yeri as your father passes out the rest of the side dishes. Riki is also there, discussing his mother’s treatment with your mother and Jake’s parents.
You can’t help the way your eyes attach to Jake across from you. It’s almost a form of punishment that you were made to sit in such close proximity, the weight of his stare on you swallowing you whole.
The feeling of his hand in your hair, his mouth against your ear–it was all so incredibly inappropriate. You shouldn’t have thought about that day last week with such excruciating frequency, but you did. You thought about it when you heard the wine moms whispering about Jake on your porch, when Yeri and Jungwon talked about him as you studied, and when you were alone at night.
In your dreams, it was even more painful. In a perfect world, he would take his hand from your hair and keep it on your neck, holding you close. He would move his lips from the shell of your ear to the side of your neck, kissing and tasting what skin was available to him in that moment to make you come undone.
Yes, sitting across from him is torment. But the alternative is worse, not seeing him at all and having to conjure images of him alone in the quiet of your bedroom.
“Deacon, sir,” Jungwon pipes up from his spot next to Jake, addressing your father directly. “I was going to study with Jaeyun and Yeri at my house if you wouldn’t mind your daughter tagging along.”
The muscle in your father’s jaw clenches. He’s clearly unhappy with one of the attendees being Jake, but he hides it behind a smile. “It’s up to her. What do you think, sweetie?”
On one hand, you should absolutely say no. Jake may take you into a random spot of Jungwon’s house and make any resolve you still have disappear with the flick of his wrist. Even in the company of your friends, you know no place is safe when he’s around and close to you. And were you willing to crumble so easily?
At the same time, the distance is eating away at you. You can’t take another charged glance in your direction, words unspoken but begging to be released. If you have to catch his bedroom eyes on your body one more time, you may just snap in front of everyone, and care little when you do.
“Sure. I’d love to, Wonie,” you say with a grin. “Nishi, you want to come too?”
Riki shakes his head, enjoying the fruitcake your mom set out. “I’ll stay. Someone has to help clean up.” Jake’s mom squeezes one of his cheeks. Riki’s face suddenly turns pink from his aunt’s affection, making everyone laugh.
On your way out the door, your father catches you by the arm. He whispers, “No later than midnight. Understood?”
On the cusp of 10 PM, you want to protest that time with your friends is already so limited, but you obey with a nod and walk out the door.
When you get in the backseat of Jungwon’s car, Jake too comfortable beside you, you feel your body flicker to life. “So,” you say, “your house then, Won?”
Yeri and Jungwon laugh, a conspiratory look in both of their eyes. “We’re just gonna make a quick stop first.”
Tumblr media
Kiss ‘Em Creek was the unofficial name of the lake that ran through your town, a spot for teenagers to spend a few hours alone with their friends or partners. It wasn’t scientifically-correct, but it stuck nonetheless, many of the locals taking advantage of the not-so-secret hideaway. What went on there you only heard about through Yeri and the wine moms’ conversations, their voices littered with disappointment and condemnation.
Jungwon parks his car and turns his eyes to meet yours in the rearview mirror, that scheming smile still playing on his lips. “Ready to take a dip?”
Your eyes widen. You shake your head at a rapid pace, making your friends and Jake chuckle. “No way,” you say.
“C’mon babe, live a little!” Yeri winks and exits the car, Jungwon hot on her heels. The two of them begin to strip to their underwear, eager to jump in the water together. Jungwon picks her up in a bridal carry, Yeri laughing the entire way as he takes the first step into the awaiting lake.
As the two lovebirds continue heading towards the water, you and Jake sit in comfortable silence, your heartbeat slowly rising at the prospect of being alone in the car together. No distractions, no disappointed parents, no judgemental hags. Just the two of you under a cloud of stars and beautiful moonlight.
“I didn’t know if you would come tonight,” Jake says, filling the silence with a quiet chuckle. “Thought you were avoiding me at all costs, like I’m some kind of plague.”
“No!” You turn in your seat to face him. His expression is teasing but holds undercurrents of disappointment, clearly confused where your feelings lie. And he has every right to feel that way. One minute you’re wishing he would pull you closer, and the next you feel it’s better he keeps his distance. “I just don’t know what your intentions are.”
His eyes darken and his lips curve into a beautiful but intimidating smile. “Is it not obvious?”
You squeeze your thighs together, a wave of heat spreading through your bones. “Maybe I just want you to say it out loud.”
He scoots closer to you, his chest a heartbeat away from yours. “Well, to start,” he says, “I would really like to kiss you.”
You smile. A breathless laugh leaves your lips, eager to know what it would feel like to touch his mouth to yours. “I’d like that too.”
Jake runs a hand through your hair and rests it on your cheek. His touch is as fragile as the tension between you. “Then what are you so afraid of?”
You shut your eyes, trying to come up with the right words and falling short. “It’s just everyone–”
“Fuck everyone else.” He forces you to look into his eyes, the words leaving his mouth being some of the truest ones you’ve ever heard in your life. “You’re not a bad person or a sinner for wanting what you want.”
“I know that.”
“You may know it but you don’t believe it.” Jake’s lips ghost over yours, his breath tickling your cheeks. “Stop thinking about what everyone else thinks of you. Think of yourself for once.”
Maybe Jake’s right. All of your choices in life have been dictated by what your parents, friends, and total strangers have felt. If you listened to your own heart, you would have left all of them in the dust by now, chasing what you really wanted far away from this place.
At the same time, you’re glad to be in this car with Jake. He’s so close to you, telling you to take the leap and choose yourself for the first time in a long time.
When you press your lips to his, the feeling of his mouth on yours soft and tentative, you know you can’t wake up tomorrow the same person. This choice will ripple into all the choices you make from this moment on, but you don’t seem to care.
All that matters is his mouth, taking more control and setting a fire deep in your belly. He presses his tongue to the juncture of your lips, diving inside without protest.
You moan into his mouth, feeling one hand firmly pressed on your neck as the other runs down your shirt to squeeze at your breast through your clothes.
“Fuck, tell me to stop,” Jake says with a heady whisper, still kneading your breast with his palm. “Tell me to stop if you don’t want this.”
You shake your head, moving closer to him to the point you’re halfway on his lap, legs intertwined with his. “So help me God, don’t stop now.”
He snickers, pecking your lips again. “You said his name in vain again.”
You roll your eyes as he chuckles into your neck. “That wasn’t the first thing on my mind.” You move your lips to his cheek. “Or the second.” They trail down to his neck, taking your fantasies and etching them into his skin. “Or third.”
“Fuck,” Jake curses, holding you tight against him. “You’re too good at this.”
You smirk. “Contrary to popular belief, you’re not the first person I’ve ever kissed.”
He laughs, the rumble of it vibrating against your mouth. “I don’t care as long as you keep kissing me.”
“Wasn’t planning on stopping.” By the time you reattach your mouth to his, you’re straddling his lap. His hands are nestled on the small of your back, wanting to inch down further but unsure where or what your boundaries are.
You take the initiative, suddenly bold, and put both of his palms on your backside. “If you wanted to touch my ass, you could’ve just said so.”
Jake licks his lips, his accent coming out in a husky whisper. “I want to touch you in a lot of places. Your ass just happens to be easily accessible right now.”
“Oh really?” You giggle. “Care to enlighten me?”
Jake sharply switches positions, your back against the expanse of the backseat as he towers over you. He rubs his hands across the outside of your thighs, eager but patient. “Gladly.”
He kisses your neck, suckling and licking with perfect pressure, making you whimper. “Jaeyun,” you say out loud, his name coming out like a question more than a statement.
“Use your words, angel. Tell me what you want.” His eyes pass over your face, your kissable lips and lust-blown irises. You’re too entrenched in him now to walk away from this car the same girl, and you wouldn’t want it any other way.
It may end badly, crash and burn completely like everyone expects it to, but that’s the last thing you care about right now.
“I want you to touch me.” You take one of his hands on your thighs and place it over your underwear, its center damp.
“Jesus,” he says in wonder, rubbing his fingers against the cotton.
“You just said–oh,” you stop short when you feel Jake’s fingers against your clit. The sensation makes you buck your hips up into him, him discovering the bundle of nerves without trying hard. He’s clearly happy at the wetness he finds. He rubs your folds in the same fashion, biting down on his bottom lip hard.
“You feel so good already. So perfect,” he whispers, taking hold of your lips again with his own while he swirls his fingers in and around your essence. He switches between teasing your clit and rubbing along your pussy, his movements lewd yet graceful. Only when he puts a finger inside of you do you gasp and look at him directly, your eyes clearly giving away your fear.
“What’s wrong, angel? Did I do something?” Concern floods his face, but he doesn’t take his hand away.
“I’ve never gone this far,” you confess, looking to your side to hide your embarrassment.
“Hey, look at me.” He turns your head to face him again, fingers laying under your chin softly. “We can stop now if you want. I don’t want you to feel pressured into doing anything you don’t want to do.”
His response makes your heart clench. Most guys, you’d imagine, would be pissed off or pleading with you to continue on, to do what they wanted and enjoy the moment. That was how Jongseong was, pouting the entire time after you told him to pump the brakes on your makeout sessions.
Somehow, with Jake, it feels right to continue. You suddenly have no anxiety clouding your thoughts or expectations weighing on your heart. You kiss his lips tenderly and shake your head. “No, I want this. I want you.”
A cheshire-cat grin spreads across his face before he goes in for another kiss. He runs his tongue along the inside of your mouth as his finger slides across your folds once again. He plunges it deep inside of your heat, your body adjusting to the new sensation with surprising ease.
You thrash lightly underneath him, matching the tempo of his finger with abandon. He slips another digit in, groaning at the feeling of your soft, gummy walls becoming accustomed to him. “You’re taking my fingers so well, angel. ‘S fucking incredible.”
You gasp and feel the fire from earlier heightening in intensity, spreading from your belly into the other seams of your body. It makes your toes curl and your hand press against one of the doors of Jungwon’s car, needing something to clutch onto while feeling yourself losing what’s left of your control.
“Jaeyun, I think I–”
“I know baby,” he says, pressing his lips to your forehead. “You’re going to feel so good in a second, I promise. Don’t be afraid.”
His thumb makes contact with your neglected clit, rubbing in rapid motions as he pumps his fingers faster in and out of you. You suddenly become overloaded with pleasure; its immensity is something you’ve never felt before. You feel it coat the back of your mouth and take what’s left of your rational senses, your body moving on its own accord as you ride out what’s remaining of your orgasm.
You blush furiously when you come back down to earth, giggling like a schoolgirl as Jake kisses your sweat-drenched cheek. “That was…amazing.”
Jake chuckles, a smirk painting his features. “You’re amazing.”
You tuck your face in your hands, embarrassed but still enraptured by what you just experienced. He pulls one hand away, taking it in his own, his expression suddenly shy. “So, I guess this is the part where I ask you on a proper date.”
You laugh and sit up, placing your panties back around your hips and adjusting your skirt. “I would hope so!”
Jungwon and Yeri choose that moment to run back into the car, their hair drenched but their bodies properly dressed once again. Jungwoon looks at the two of you in the backseat and grimaces. “Not in my car, man!”

Despite the warnings from your parents and the wine moms, you and Jake had become inseparable within a month’s time. It took many late-night impromptu meetings and secret rendezvous to keep your relationship private, but you had succeeded thus far. And it only made the moments you both shared that much more special.
Riki had kept your secret, keeping his eyes out for any prying townsfolk and covering for his cousin and you if need be. Yeri and Jungwon also cheered you on from the shadows, hoping one day you could be public like they were without criticism.
Sitting in the field near the lake, a picnic blanket set across the grass, you have your head in Jake’s lap while he absentmindedly turns strands of your hair into miniature braids. It’s a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, the two of you occupying the resounding forest with no outside influences.
“Have I told you lately how beautiful your hair is?” Jake asks, kissing your forehead before he takes another batch of strands in his hand. If he has to pick one of your best attributes, in his words, he’d say it was a tie between your lips and your hair, the two of them constantly making his heart race. You called him a liar, but as time revealed, he was nothing but honest with you every day, and not just about what turns him on.
Over time, you discovered his fears, his ticks, his aspirations past the small town you both found yourselves in. You admire his vulnerability, how open he is when sharing the thoughts that occupy his mind.
“At least three times already,” you tease, running your hand across his leg.
“It’s not bad to hear it a fourth time, right?” He plants another kiss to the crown of your head. He drops the braid he’s just made across your face, making you laugh.
“I’d rather hear how work went today,” you say, getting up to press your back to his chest, snuggling into him.
He shrugs, wrapping his arms around you tighter. “Not much to talk about. Working with roofs all day isn’t exactly exciting, angel.”
You know Jake doesn’t want to work at his dad’s construction company for the rest of his life. However, it provides stability, and that matters a lot to him. He knows what it did to his aunt when Riki’s father walked out early on in his cousin’s life, and he wouldn’t wish that lack of support on anyone.
“At least you’re not running a tutoring center and a daycare in the same church,” you joke, your tone anything but humorous. The brood you dealt with every day was completely unlike Riki. They were kids that were carbon copies of their parents, children that would one day become exactly like their absentminded fathers and speculatory mothers. It put a taste in your mouth you couldn’t stomach.
You fall into steady silence, the uptick in both of your nerves ebbing away the longer you hold each other. Sure, Jake hates roofing as much as you hate disciplining whining toddlers and helping apathetic tweens with mathematics, but it doesn’t matter at this moment.
All that does is each other, enjoying the midweek sunset and the sounds of the birds flying overhead.
“What would you do if you were somewhere else?” Jake asks into the crook of your neck.
You grin, imagining a world of possibilities. The question never came up before, not from him or anyone else. It opens up a plethora of choices in your mind, but you narrow them down quickly, knowing what your heart truly desires.
“I’d like to teach,” you answer. “Really teach, maybe at a university. Something like poetry.” You turn to look at him, a newfound fire in your eyes. “Yeah.”
Jake smiles back at you, moving stray strands of hair from your shoulder to rest his head there. “I think you’d be great at that.”
“What would you do?”
Jake ponders the question, going over it in the same way you were moments before. You see realization wash over his features, and it makes you smile. “I think I’d write. Not literature or anything, but songs maybe? Teach music in the meantime. Still have to make money somehow, y’know.”
You giggle and push him down on the picnic blanket, running your fingers through his hair. “Sounds like a plan.”
He nods, sharing your happiness. “Maybe a kid and a dog can fit somewhere in that plan.”
Chuckling, you raise one eyebrow. “As long as I’m not having a baby out of wedlock, that sounds perfect to me.”
He turns you both over, covering your body with his and kissing you intensely. The passion runs from his body to yours, your heartbeats matching in their strong beats against your chests. “Perfect,” he whispers, his lips meeting yours once again.
It may be too soon to call it love, but you know you’re tiptoeing that line, and you wouldn’t mind falling headfirst on the other side of it as long as Jake’s there waiting for you.

“Are you sure they don’t know I’m here?” Jake asks, hesitant to walk up the stairs to your bedroom.
“It’s fine! They’re at a seminar all weekend with Reverend Park and his son, I promise.” You kiss his lips before running up to your room. Still on the fence, you hear his tentative footsteps trudging behind you.
Another few months rolled by, and your parents had softened to the idea of Jake being around more often. He showed up with his parents to church every Sunday, even if you both snuck off to make out in the backwoods when nobody was paying attention.
He’d stick around for the deacon’s sessions with Akemi, brightening her spirits with his guitar and a couple of songs to replace the ones she missed during normal processions. It helped that she seemed to be getting better, slowly but surely, with treatment and daily prayer.
When you heard your father call Jake a “nice kid,” you knew they were turning a corner in their relationship that you wished for since the night Jake kissed you in Jungwon’s car.
Now, that doesn’t mean they would be happy with finding him in your bed on a Friday night, but you’ve broken enough rules at this point. What’s one more?
“You’re trying to get me killed,” Jake jokes as you rip his shirt from his body, discarding the article of clothing on your bedroom floor. You sit on your bed and marvel at the muscles on his chest and stomach, all of it yours to caress and kiss at any time.
“Don’t worry, babe. I’ll follow you to heaven,” you tease, pulling him closer to kiss his body. Each press of your lips to his skin makes him tremble, cursing quietly to himself at the feeling.
“With the way you’re touching me, I doubt either of us will make it there.”
You giggle and link his mouth to yours. You moan when his tongue hits the roof of your mouth.
The intentions you had for tonight definitely involved numerous bouts of kissing, but the way Jake’s making you feel will certainly end up with his face or fingers between your legs. And as good as that sounds, you don’t want him derailing you from completing your mission.
There had been so many moments of him giving you pleasure up to this point, you wondered how he had stayed so composed and content after without expecting anything in return.
So, tonight, you decided to give him a bit of satisfaction, even if you’re walking into such activities without any kind of road map. Yeri gave you a handful of tips, but doing it for real is another beast entirely.
“Jaeyun, wait,” you say, taking his face in between your hands.
He looks up at you with eager eyes, wondering why you pulled him away from your neck. “What is it?”
“I want to take care of you this time.” You say, hoping your expression gives off the confidence you’re trying to portray. “I’ve never done it before, but—“
“And you don’t have to, angel,” Jake says with a dopey, relaxed smile. What on Earth and heaven did you do to find a guy like him?
“Please,” you beg, scooting closer to the edge of the bed. “I want to try.”
Jake’s conflicting feelings are evident in his eyes. Surely any man wants his girlfriend to go down on him with the same eagerness that you're giving him right now, but he doesn’t want you to feel obligated.
In his mind, pleasure isn’t about some sort of trade-off. He makes you feel good because he wants to, not because it’s some duty he has to fulfill and expects to be paid back for later.
But, you asked so nicely and your eyes shine up at him so beautifully. He feels his resolve crumble enough to concede and do what you want.
You begin to unbutton his pants, your fingers twitching not from fear but excitement. When you pull down his jeans fully and see the outline of his bulge in his briefs, your mouth falls open slightly at the size.
Could it fit in your mouth if it was that big?
Jake chuckles and takes your hand to press to the gaping material covering him. “It won’t bite.”
You look up at him and begin to stutter, unsure how to continue once you take off his underwear. “D-Do you want me to use my hands first?”
“Whatever feels right to you, angel. I trust you.” He rubs his thumb across your cheek, and it calms all the nerves that came to the surface.
It’s in those three words that you find the courage to pull the remaining article of clothing off of him, taking in the sight of his cock in all its glory.
You gulp hard, trailing your eyes from the tip to where it adjoins to the rest of him. You’ve never seen one up close before, and you feel like you’re invading his privacy as you stare at it for another long minute. But who can blame you?
“It’s all for you, baby,” Jake whispers. “Do whatever you want.”
You feel a sharp pang of heat at the center of your thighs, his words spurring you on. You spit into your hand, as Yeri instructed, and wrap your hand firmly around Jake’s cock. With an easy but deliberate pace, you look at Jake directly to see if you’re starting off on the right foot.
And boy were you.
Jake hisses at the feeling of your hand encasing him, loving the tightness of your fingers as they continue sliding up and down his dick. He had envisioned this many times in the solitude of his bedroom, images of you and your beautiful body writhing underneath him enough to get him off. But those nights were nothing compared to this.
“Are you ready for my mouth now?” You ask timidly. Jake wants to laugh at how innocent you sound, the words coming so naturally off of your tongue.
“Yes, angel, please,” he answers, wanting to caress you by the hair and guide you down to his awaiting, leaking cock.
You move closer until you're an inch away from his tip. Flattening your tongue to take it into your mouth, you keep watching Jake’s face for the right signals.
His mouth opens, a satisfied whine leaving his lips. You feel a wave of pride at the fact he’s enjoying it so much, egging you on further.
“Your mouth feels so perfect wrapped around me,” he confesses. He soaks in the sensation of your lips and teeth softly running over the veins of his cock, your head bobbing across his length skillfully. How can an innocent and dutiful daughter like you give such mind-blowing head?
He can’t ruminate on the answer long, releasing a guttural moan as he feels his tip hit the back of your throat, the gag that rumbles from you making his cock even more sensitive.
“Angel, I’m gonna come soon,” Jake warns. “If you don’t want me to come in your mouth, let me know now.”
You look up through your lashes at him as you continue sucking on him with fierce passion, swirling your tongue across his tip.
His hand is wrapped firmly in your hair now, fucking your face as softly as he can without forcing anymore of himself down your throat. When you take a hand to cup his balls, softly kneading them between your fingers, he’s done for.
He whines pathetically as his seed shoots inside your mouth. The taste isn’t particularly pleasing, but you milk it for what it’s worth to watch him fall apart so perfectly under your attention.
The orgasm rocks through him with an unshakeable amount of pleasure, his body completely helpless as he continues to spurt into your mouth. He can only hiss and whine as you continue to touch him, letting him come down fully and taking all of him without complaint.
Jake breathes in deeply when he gains clarity again, taking you in his arms and shoving his tongue deep in your mouth. “That was probably the best blowjob I’ve ever gotten,” he states, running his fingers over your face with adoration.
You scoff and roll your eyes, his words making you shy. “I doubt it, seeing as that was my first one.”
“It was!” Jake puts a hand on his heart. “Swear to the savior himself.” Before you can rebut, Jake takes your legs in his hands and moves you to the edge of the bed.

You wake up to the hard knocks at your bedroom door, the morning sun peeking out of your window to prove the previous night has long gone.
“Honey? What did we say about locked doors in this house?”
Your father’s booming voice makes you jump up from bed, smacking Jake hard on the shoulder and chest to wake him up.
“We had an odd feeling at the hotel, so we came home early,” your mother says as you shake Jake from his sleep.
“Ow, what the fuck,” Jake grunts, his voice not quiet enough to go unnoticed. You curse yourself and the reality in front of what’s about to happen, knowing full well your parents heard him on the other side of the door.
“Sweetie, who’s in there with you?” Your mother’s shrill but concerned tone makes you cringe. Jake’s eyes bulge in response, quickly leaping from the mattress to pull on his clothes in haste.
Just when you throw your dress from last night over your head and Jake buttons up his pants, your father slams open the door with his shoulder. Your parents gasp and yell at the sight before them, the man they began to grow comfortable with in a compromising position with their only daughter and precious child.
“What in God’s name is he doing here?” Your father asks no-one in particular, stomping towards Jake’s shirtless figure and yanking him by the neck.
“Daddy, stop!” You plead, scratching and clawing at his frame to pull him off of your lover.
Your mother begins blubbering, teary-eyed before you. “Oh honey, what did he do to you?”
“Nothing,” you scream. “Please leave him alone and let us be.”
“I told you to stay away from him.” Your father stares you down, eyes blazing with fury. “Not only did you betray me, but you betrayed the sanctity of your purity. It’s a disgrace.”
Jake coughs, your father’s hands tightening around his neck. “The only disgrace is the two of you holding her back, like she’s some weak bird in a cage,” he croaks. “She can make her own decisions.”
“You stay silent, you insolent pest,” your father growls, yanking Jake out of your room and down the stairs. By the time you and your mother make it out to the bottom step, your father has thrown Jake out and onto the porch.
“Stay away from my daughter, or you’ll have another reason to pray you don’t end up burning in hell.”
“Stop it!” You step in between your father and Jake, the latter putting on what’s left of his clothes. People begin to hover too close to your family home, suddenly entrenched in the scene playing out before them.
Jake kisses your forehead and walks away in the direction of his parked bike, unsure what else he can do unless he wants to truly end up six feet under.
Your father grabs you by the upper arm and pulls you in the direction of your porch, but you resist with all your might. “You can’t make me go back in there.”
“I am your father and you will listen to me,” he grunts, holding on tight.
“Daddy, I love him!” You scream as you yank your arm away from your father, your inner strength giving way. “If you can’t accept that, I guess I’ll just have to burn hell with him. Better than wasting another second here.”
You run toward Jake’s bike and sit behind him, cinching your arms around his waist. He smiles to himself, feeling the press of your chest to his back as he puts his helmet over his head. “Are you sure about this, angel?”
You nod furiously, not bothering to look back at your red-faced family. “More than I’ve ever been.”
All you focus on is his motorcycle rumbling to life before you speed away. Your hair blows in the wind as you both escape the horrified stares of the local vipers.

You end up at a motel on the other side of town, far away from the scandal that’s surely rocking your small community by now. The deacon’s daughter running away with the bad boy next door? What a tragedy!
You run inside to miss the upcoming rain, both of you shivering from the barrage of pellets that did land on your skin. You settle onto the mattress as Jake drops the small amount of belongings he had in his possession on the dresser.
He turns to you with quiet concern, arms splayed out on the furniture as he looks at you, searching your face for any lingering doubt. “No regrets?”
You shake your head, exhausted but glad to be out of that house. “None at all.”
He breathes out a sigh of relief and sits down beside you on the bed, rubbing your thigh with his fingers. “I’m sorry.”
Your brows knit together, confusion pouring over you. You take his hand in yours, intertwining your fingers. “You have nothing to apologize for. If anything, I should be apologizing to you.”
You feel tears build at your eye ducts, your voice suddenly growing thick when you recall the scene from an hour ago. “I’m sorry my father was so horrible to you.”
“Hush, it’s okay,” he puts his other hand on your face. He kisses your lips tenderly and gracefully. How did nobody else but you see he possessed the most kind nature of anyone you’ve ever known?
Jake moves his head, his lips curving into the smile that always takes your common sense away. “I love you too, by the way.”
Your confession from earlier hits you like a heavy rock, your eyes going wide and your face turning pale. “That wasn’t the way I wanted to say it.”
“Then say it now,” Jake urges, your face resting gently between his fingers.
There’s no fear or pressure when the three words leave your lips, only the feeling of a weight lifting off of your chest. “I love you, Sim Jaeyun. I love you with my whole heart.”
His face lights up, the words seeming to set aglow something deep within him. The only right reaction seems to be in the form of his lips attaching to yours in a passionate kiss, your shared love creating a beautiful path forward for the both of you.
He whispers his next words so lightly, you almost assume the statement is a figment of your imagination. “Marry me.”
You feel your face contort into a mixture of disbelief and elation, needing to hear him say it again for it to truly resonate. “What?”
“Marry me,” he repeats, his smile stretching across his face. “Marry me now, or in three months from now, or whenever you want. Just say you will.”
You exhale a breath of astonishment, unsure if he knows how much you want to say yes, to make this as real as it sounds on his lips. He leaves your side with a kiss to your temple to grab something from his jacket.
He comes back in record time, standing in front of you and twiddling the black box in both of his hands with anxious fingers. “I brought it with me to your house last night, I just didn’t know how to ask then. But I do now.”
Like in all the stories you’ve read and movies you’ve seen in your lifetime, he sinks down onto one knee before you. You place a hand over your mouth as he opens the box, a ring with an opal-shaped diamond cushioned in the center.
“Would you please do me the honor of being my wife?” Those words on his lips, visibly shaken from his own question, make a thousand butterflies flutter inside your chest.
Months ago, if you knew then you would end up here, from the edge of the sidewalk to now, you would not change a single moment. The world had been so gray before, you didn’t know what it was like to step in the sun until he came into your life. What other answer is there?
“Yes, yes, yes,” you respond, tears flooding your eyes as he shakily places the ring on your finger. It fits just right, the stone at the center sparkling in the darkness of the motel room.
You kiss Jake’s lips with all the force your body possesses, certain there’s no better future than right beside him.
Tumblr media
The feeling of the gold band around your finger makes Jake shudder as it touches his cock. Your body is nestled perfectly on top of his as you take what you can’t put in your mouth between your fingers.
He laps up your essence with his tongue, ecstatic to have his face covered in your juices and smothered if need be by your wet cunt. If people think wedding nights are magical, engagement nights have to be a step up.
“Fuck, Jaeyun, yes,” you roll your hips into his awaiting mouth, his tongue available for you to lay your slit onto. The expletive leaves your mouth like honey, the feeling fitting for such a dirty word.
He knows exactly how to make you fall apart and be put back together, and the thought of doing this for the rest of your life makes you want to cry again from the pure happiness inside your core.
Jake takes his lips off of your pussy and sits up. Before you can ask what he’s doing, he takes you into his lap on the bed and kisses you fiercely. You taste yourself on his tongue as he skillfully takes your breath away with his lips. When you part, he says, “Angel, I know we said we’d wait, but I don’t know how much longer I can handle not being inside of you.”
You whimper at his words and suddenly rock your center into the tip of his cock, making him groan in the process. “I mean—we’re just starting early, right?”
Jake releases a joyous laugh and kisses you hungrily, his face in a constant state of ecstasy since you said “yes” hours ago. “Right.”
The anticipation makes you even wetter, crawling to the head of the bed as Jake grabs a condom from the bedside table. If there was one thing he had promised, he swore he wouldn’t get you pregnant. Not yet, anyway.
He rolls the rubber over his cock before joining you on the bed, lining up perfectly with your center. He rubs his tip against your folds, biting his lip at how easily it gets coated in your essence. “Ready?”
You nod eagerly, a smirk filling the entire bottom half of your face.
He pushes the tip in, the pressure a foreign feeling you had never experienced before. It took time and practice to get used to the size of his fingers, but this is another level of fullness that takes your breath away.
Once Jake’s partially inside and gives you a moment to adjust, he asks, “Can I move?”
You nod your head, holding onto his shoulders for support as he begins to thrust inside of you. He loves to see his cock disappearing between your legs, your body eagerly taking him in and stretching itself out to accommodate him. He loves the way you whimper at the movement of his hips and the pleasure you’re receiving.
Better yet, he loves you. He loves all of you, from the nonsensical words you speak in your sleep to the wrinkle between your eyebrows when you get mad. You’re all his, and he’s grateful to be the only one you call yours.
“We may never leave this motel,” Jake says, his words breathy as he continues moving his hips. “I could stay inside of you for the rest of my life, angel.”
“I love you so much,” you say, inching your hand between your bodies to roll your clit between your fingers.
“I love you,” Jake says. He takes your face in his hands and kisses you like he wants to pour all of his emotions from his being into your soul, just so you know how deep his love for you goes.
It’s all so overwhelmingly beautiful, you feel the swell of your release cresting over you like a tidal wave. “Baby, I’m gonna come,” you whisper, your mouth open wide from the moans and cries you cannot suppress.
Jake groans and slams his hips into you harder, filling you to the hilt repeatedly. “Come, angel. Come for me.”
You cry out as the orgasm takes hold of your body, your fingers working on their own accord on your clit as you fall off the edge.
Jake stills not a second later, releasing into the condom and taking the last remnants of his energy to thrust inside of you a few more times.
He pulls out and throws the rubber in a nearby trash can. His sweaty body clings to yours, hands rubbing up and down your arm tenderly as he kisses the curve of your shoulder.
You see the flash of your ring in the glow of the motel’s neon sign, and you think about how the night could not have gone any better.
Jake may be a bit reckless and not what you initially imagined for your future, but now that you have him, you wouldn’t give him up for anything. All the parts of you that stayed buried for so long have resurfaced because of him, and you could not be more grateful.
With your left hand a touch heavier than it was some hours ago, you fall asleep to the sound of the rain hitting the window and Jake’s rising and falling chest.
Tumblr media
You walk out of your mother’s house, happy to have made a visit with her before she ran off to do her morning errands.
What you’re not pleased to encounter is the same crowd of women huddled with their homemade fans and cups of lemonade. They weren’t there when you arrived a few hours ago.  Of course they show up when you have no chance of escaping them, like the vultures they are.
“Mrs. Sim,” Mrs. Choi says, her tone entirely made of stone with little warmth. “Pleasure to see you.”
Your new surname gives you indescribable amounts of happiness. It took your parents some time to get used to, but eventually, they realized you put your heart in the right place. Your father took his sweet time getting there, begrudgingly admitting a short time ago Jake is a very acceptable son-in-law, the turnaround of his perception of your husband complete.
You give the crotchety ringleader a fake smile and attempt to walk away, but Mrs. Lee interjects. “How’s your mister doing working at the church now?”
“Great,” you say, genuinely happy to talk about a topic you care for. “Jaeyun loves the kids. Little Yuna might actually be a guitar prodigy from what he’s told me.”
They all coo, practically synchronized in their sips of lemonade and fan flurries.
“Soon enough you’ll have one of your own, I’m sure,” Mrs. Choi remarks with sarcasm, her red-lipstick-stained front teeth on full display.
“Not too soon now,” Jake suddenly says, walking up the pathway to your mother’s house and taking you in by the waist. “My wife has to finish her Masters first. How else is she gonna start teaching at the community college?”
My wife. No matter how long it’s been since you officially got married in your church, that day a year ago forever ingrained in your memory, it still warms you to the bones hearing those words leave Jake’s lips.
The women all express signs of agreement, some nodding while others hum.
“We better get back home now, but you ladies have a nice day!” Jake bids them goodbye and walks you both down the stairs with his hand on the small of your back. Even if he were to be more than the perfect gentleman in front of them, they would still linger around with pesky eyes and constantly moving lips.
“They’re still betting we’re gonna crash and burn, aren’t they?” Jake whispers, teasing you with a wiggle of his eyebrows.
You shake your head. You fall more in love with him every day that passes, no matter what the people around you do or don’t see. They may have their opinions, but it won’t shake the foundation you’ve built. “Well, they’re sure to be disappointed if I have anything to say about it.”
Jake’s eyes widen, his expression humorous yet surprised. “Easy, angel. Don’t want to have to tear my wife off of a nosy wine mom.”
Your heart aches at his words, him fully aware of what two of them in particular do to you. “I love you.”
Jake grins, inching his face closer to yours. “I’d love nothing more than to kiss you right now, but what would everyone say?” He asks with a mock face of horror.
You shrug without much care, grinning. “Someone once told me ‘fuck everyone else.’ And right now I couldn’t agree more.”
Jake laughs before he places a gentle kiss to your lips, the sun radiating off of him in waves as he pulls you closer.
No matter what anyone in your small town has to say, your choices are yours; you’re perfectly happy with how your life has turned out whether they think so too or not. And you will always choose Sim Jaeyun, now and forever.

Self Harm
I ate today. Until it hurt. I feel the hurt right now. I know I have to eat healthier so that I don't have pain like I did earlier this year. But sometimes I binge.
And that's self harm. I practice that sometimes. Even when I don't realize I do, I'm recently discovering.
See, when I was younger, it was definitely binging. It was "justified" cause I needed food to last through to band practice. Then cause of Brandon's ass and the tbh self hatred I had for my bigger self, I ate better. And healthy habits were formed.
Until they didn't. And I fell into a deep depression. So deep it became vile. And negative thoughts echoed negative emotions until I gave in. I tried the etch a sketch moment all of once. Until I was too much of a wimp to see it through. Spent that night buoyed to the phone and a person I was grateful to be there for me at that time. And decided weed was there for me. And exercise too.
Until I found a way to harm with that. I didn't even notice it initially. Having the gym to myself to fuck around and play ball was just nice. I could listen to sports, practice moves I saw in match ups right before, lose weight AND work towards mental clarity all at once. It's easy to accidental stick around lost in that playful world until you're exhausted.
Then I'd get upset at myself. Maybe for missing an assignment when I knew I'd been in college too long for that shit. Or cause I was still lost in my life's direction and upset I couldn't just figure it out already. Or would fail to meet the expectations of the girl I liked. And I'd pound that ball for hours. Until I was beyond exhausted. Until I knew my body would have no serotonin to give me and would force me into a depressive episode. Cause how dare I keep fucking up? At least this is good for you.
And it wasn't. And it's not.
I'm a self harmer.
And it's something I kinda knew but didn't know the extent of until now. And how hilarious my usual first steps to getting out these situations can lead to the self harm I literally just talked about. Oh well. I've even used the herb as a self harm tool but that doesn't mean I'll give it totally up just yet. Just like everything in life, moderation right?

starlink pisses me off
the issue of its impact on astronomy and light pollution has been discussed a lot, and is a very real issue (i've noticed up to 10% of the frames i take while doing astrophotography being rendered unusable by starlink trails), but there's an even bigger issue
not only does starlink constitute the majority of active satellites in orbit, with over 6,000 already up and potentially over 30,000 planned, but these satellites are disposable
each satellite only has a lifetime of 5-7 years (not including satellites that prematurely fail), and re-enters earth's atmosphere and disintegrates at the end of its life, and is then replaced by newly launched satellites
it's also worth mentioning that aluminum from re-entering satellites forms aluminum oxide, which can damage the ozone layer and risks reversing the recovery of the ozone hole
and this is touted as progress, "the future"! the way we bring high-quality internet to anyone who doesn't live in a big city or a wealthy country. a gift to all humanity! (except elon musk gets to deny it to whoever he wants)
and it is literally unsustainable
the so-called internet infrastructure of the future relies on frequent rocket launches spewing carbon dioxide and black soot into the atmosphere, and disposable satellites that destroy the shield that protects all life on earth from UV radiation
the atmosphere is a global commons. orbit is a global commons. yet a single company owned by a single fascist billionaire has appropriated a vast swath of orbital space and filled it with infinite trash machines - without any international regulation. but bring this up in any space fan circles, and you'll be met with techbros screaming at you and calling you an enemy of humanity for not thinking that elon musk should be able to do whatever he wants without regulation
starlink isn't the future, it's a cancer filling our sky with trash (and i guess some people get kinda expensive internet along the way? oh yeah btw the poor people they're talking about starlink helping can't afford it)
anyway fuck starlink, they should stop launching these trash satellites, if you want everyone to have internet we should build more publicly-owned fiber instead

LUNCH BREAKS AT THE BAU were a rare occurrence, and peaceful ones were practically nonexistent.
so when spencer quietly asked you to join him in his car for a moment of privacy, you couldn’t possibly say no.
the bullpen was loud, filled with agents and cases to be discussed, and even the break room wasn’t safe from the work chatter.
now you were here, sitting in the passenger seat of spencer’s old, slightly cluttered car. his bag sat in the back, along with a few scattered books and the faint smell of coffee lingered in the air.
he sat beside you, legs awkwardly angled in the tight space, his knee brushing yours every so often as he shifted around nervously.
“this feels risky,” spencer mumbled, his fingers fidgeting with the hem of his cardigan. his voice was a whisper as his eyes scanned around the parking lot, looking for any signs of movement though it was highly unlikely anybody from your team would make their way to the parking lot.
“you think everything’s risky, spence.” you teased, leaning a little closer to him. the corners of your mouth quirked up as you added, “but that doesn’t mean you’re not enjoying it.” —READ MORE!
his lips parted to respond, but instead of words, a soft laugh escaped his mouth. “i am,” he admitted, his cheeks flushing that same endearing pink. “it’s just.. you know how the others are already suspecting of our relationship— especially morgan! if he even suspects anything, he’ll—”
“—never let it go,” you finished for him, grinning. “i know. but we’re fine, spence. no one’s looking for us.”
he hesitated, his hand moving near yours on the console. you took the initiative, gently wrapping your fingers around his.
his hand was warm, a little clammy from nerves, but it fit perfectly in yours. that small touch seemed to ground him, and his shoulders relaxed slightly as he turned to look at you.
the way he looked at you. soft, hesitant, like he was still in awe that this was real—made your heart warm.
slowly, you leaned closer, your hand brushing against his cheek to bring him forward. he didn’t resist, tilting his head just enough to meet you halfway.
when your lips finally met, it was as sweet and careful as ever, his kiss unhurried and slow, as if he were savoring every second.
his hand rested lightly on your thigh, the touch barely there, yet it sent a sharp shiver down your spine nonetheless—as spencers touch always did.
spencer kissed you like you were the only thing that mattered in the world, and in moments like this, it felt like you were—no cases, no crime scenes, just you and him.
the kiss deepened naturally, getting more heated by the second—his lips getting needier and searching against yours.
you could still feel the nervous energy of making out in such an exposed area in the way his fingers tightened slightly around yours, but you also felt the trust in the way he leaned into you, his body relaxing more with each passing second.
until you heard it.
a sharp knock on the driver’s side window.
you and spencer both flinched so hard that you bumped into each other, breaking the kiss with an awkward clash of foreheads.
spencer let out a startled, high pitched “ow!” while you turned toward the window, your heart pounding in your chest.
there he was, grinning like a dog who just found a tiny new toy, stood derek morgan. he leaned down slightly, his hands around his eyes to see better through the glass. “am i interrupting something?” he asked, his voice muffled but unmistakably smug and teasing.
spencer’s face went red, and you and him froze like a deer in headlights. for a few seconds, neither of you moved, the tension thick in the cramped car.
finally, with great reluctance, spencer reached over and pressed the button to roll the window down.
the glass slid down with an agonizing slowness, revealing morgan’s face in full, his grin practically glowing.
“well, well, well,” he said, folding his arms on the window ledge. “what do we have here? dr. reid and…” he turned his gaze to you, raising an eyebrow. “i should’ve known. you’ve been sneaking off an awful lot lately.”
spencer’s mouth opened and closed a few times, no words managing to escape. his cheeks were so red you thought he might combust on the spot. “morgan, i—this isn’t—we weren’t—”
morgan held up a hand, cutting him off. “save it, pretty boy. i don’t need the explanation. i saw what i saw.” he glanced between the two of you, his grin somehow growing wider. “and might i just say—wow. didn’t think you had it in you, kid.”
you couldn’t help it, you burst out laughing. it was nervous laughter—sure, but it broke the tension, and you leaned back in your seat, shaking your head.
“come on morgan, don’t you have something better to do than stalk the parking lot?”
“oh, this is better,” morgan shot back, his tone teasing. he straightened up, giving spencer a pointed look.
“you’re lucky it was me and not hotch who caught you two sneaking around. or worse—garcia. you know how she loves gossip.”
spencer groaned, burying his face in his hands. “please don’t tell garcia,” he mumbled, his voice muffled by his hands.
morgan laughed, resting his hand on the car door. “relax, kid. your secret’s safe with me. for now.” he paused, his eyes twinkling with mischief. “but if you owe me a favor down the line, don’t be surprised if i cash it in, oh—make sure you kids don’t get too lost in the smooching, hotch was looking for you both earlier.”
with that, he turned and walked away, still chuckling to himself as he headed back toward the building.
you turned to spencer, who was still hiding behind his hands. “hey,” you said softly, nudging his knee with yours. “it’s okay. he’s just messing with us.”
spencer peeked at you through his fingers, his face still flushed. “this is exactly why i didn’t want anyone to find out,” he muttered.
you smiled, reaching over to gently pull his hands away from his face. “morgan isn’t going to tell anyone. and even if he does, who cares? they’re our friends. they’ll be happy for us.”
he looked at you for a long moment, his expression softening at your smile. “you’re too calm about this,” he said, his voice tinged with disbelief as he leaned his head into your shoulder.
“that’s because i know something you don’t,” you teased, leaning in closer.
“what’s that?”
“that no one could possibly tease you more than morgan just did,” you said, kissing him lightly on the cheek.
despite his anxiousness of the situation, spencer laughed, his shoulders finally relaxing. and even though the lunch break didn’t go as expected, at least the two of you wouldn’t have to hide away something so beautiful anymore—and that made it all the sweeter.

White Horse - Chapter 7: September 2023
Pairing: Max Verstappen x Isabelle Leclerc (Original Character)
Summary:
Max Verstappen is a World Champion. Isabelle Leclerc is invisible.
She watched her family give up everything for Charles’ career—Arthur’s karting, their father’s savings, even her childhood horse. She understood. She never asked for more.
But Max does. He notices the things no one else does, listens when no one else will, and puts her first in ways she never imagined. With him, she isn’t an afterthought—she’s a choice. And for the first time, she realizes she doesn’t have to be invisible.
Warnings and Notes:
we have now moved on from Charles bashing to bashing his whole family, Discussions of toxic past relationships, talk about loosing a childhood pet, toxic families...I think that's it?
As always big thanks to @llirawolf , who listens to me ramble
Tumblr media
The office was bright and quiet, the kind of designer-calm that was more aesthetic than practical. Polished concrete floors, oversized pendant lights, art books stacked just so. Everything looked effortless.
Except for Isabelle.
She sat at her desk, scrolling through final renderings for a residential project in Nice—light oak built-ins, linen upholstery, exposed stone. Her headphones were in, her tea long cold, her focus sharp.
And still, she could feel them.
The looks. The half-paused conversations. The way the room always seemed to hush just a little when she walked by.
It had started a few months back—right after she had started working on Max’s penthouse.
After “The Verstappen commission,”
Which, yes, was massive. Private penthouse in Monaco. Full control of design. The budget so generous it felt like cheating.
But it wasn’t why her colleagues looked at her like that.
No, that was because of the last name.
Leclerc.
At first, it was subtle.
“Oh, Max Verstappen, huh? Funny coincidence.”
Then came the lingering glances. The comments that weren’t really jokes.
“Must be nice to have connections.”
“Clients like that don’t just walk in the door.”
“I mean, your brother is in F1, right?”
They never said it outright.
But she heard it. Felt it.
The implication that she hadn’t earned it. That she hadn’t spent years working late, poring over lighting plans, chasing perfection in the grain of walnut veneer. That she hadn’t clawed her way into an industry where quiet women were often passed over for louder, flashier names.
She was good at her job. Isabelle knew that. She was good.
Good enough that her clients rarely asked for changes.
Max’s design brief had been short and to the point:
“Make it feel like home.”
And she had.
Still, the office couldn’t let it go.
Even now—months later—she could hear it in the voice of her coworker, Camille, who leaned against the edge of Isabelle’s desk with faux friendliness.
“Is that the Nice project?” Camille asked, eyeing her screen.
Isabelle slid off her headphones. “Yes. Final layout before the client walk-through.”
Camille hummed. “You’re getting all the high-end clients lately. It’s impressive. I guess once you do one Formula 1 driver’s penthouse…”
Isabelle smiled politely. “I still have to earn every brief.”
“Of course,” Camille said, all syrup and knives. “It just helps when people know your last name.”
Isabelle looked back at her screen. “Or your work.”
Camille blinked. “Sorry?”
“I said the client liked my work. He saw it before he saw my name.” She didn’t look up. “But thanks for the reminder.”
Camille stood there for a beat too long, clearly debating whether to keep the fight going.
Then she smiled, brittle and bright. “Anyway. Let me know if you need a second set of eyes.”
Isabelle nodded. “I will.”
She wouldn’t.
Camille walked away. Isabelle exhaled.
Never mind that she’d been designing clean, grounded spaces with layered textures and a focus on subtle light since she was twenty-one.
Never mind that she had graduated top of her class at Sorbonne. Never mind that she had won awards for her work.
Never mind that just last week, she’d redesigned the entire layout of an apartment, hand-sourced reclaimed timber from an antique dealer in Northern Italy, managed three contractors across two countries, and did it all on time and under budget.
None of it mattered.
Not to them.
They saw the name. They made their assumptions. They smiled, thin-lipped and cold, when she walked into a room.
No one said it outright, of course. That wasn’t how this studio worked.
It was in the “accidental” exclusion from meetings. The last-minute presentation changes that stripped her name from the credits. The way Léa always called her Charles Leclerc’s sister when speaking to clients, like that was more relevant than her entire résumé.
And Isabelle… she swallowed it. Like she always did.
Because fighting it felt worse. Like it would just confirm what they already believed: that she was here because of someone else. That she had something to prove.
So she nodded. She worked. She smiled.
There was such a gap between the life she had at home and the one she had at work.
One full of careful love and quiet safety. One where someone saw her, really saw her, and chose her without hesitation.
And one where people looked at her and saw an advantage. A connection. A shortcut they assumed she’d taken.
No one here knew she’d just moved in with Max Verstappen.
No one knew that the penthouse she designed now held her books. Her blankets. Her favorite brand of tea, tucked next to his energy drinks in the cupboard.
No one knew that she woke up on mornings that he was there to him pressing a kiss to her temple and mumbling, don’t forget your scarf, it’s windy today, like she was something precious he’d wrapped his life around.
Her private life was a dream.
It was slow breakfasts in a sunlit kitchen. Laughter tangled in late-night Netflix documentaries. Max standing behind her at the sink, arms around her waist, whispering that he loved the life they were building.
But her professional life?
It felt like it was crumbling beneath the weight of other people’s expectations.
Not good enough to be here on her own.
 Too quiet to demand credit.
Too privileged to complain.
She clenched her teeth.
She wasn’t going to let them shrink her. Not again.
Not after all the ways she’d already been made small.
Because the truth was: her name had opened zero doors.
But her work?
That spoke for itself.

Text Messages: Isabelle Leclerc & Victoria Verstappen
Victoria: Hey Isabelle—random question. You have a minute?
Isabelle: Of course. What’s up?
Victoria: I’m redoing the kids’ room, and I’m going to lose my mind.
Victoria: So, Luka wants a car-themed room.
Victoria: Lio wants a dinosaur room.
Victoria: And I love them, but if I let them pick everything, my house will look like a Hot Wheels museum and a Jurassic Park gift shop had a child.
Victoria: No one else I’ve talked to gets why I don’t want neon walls and tire-shaped beds.
Isabelle:  Because you have taste. And also because you care about designing something they can grow into.
Victoria: Yes, exactly!! I don’t want to be a sad beige mom, but I don’t want three hundred Lightning McQueen stickers either.
Victoria: HOW do I make it nice? Like, actually nice. Not themed-party nice.
Victoria: Aesthetic. Calm. Maybe even cohesive??
Victoria: Is that possible??
Isabelle: It definitely is. The trick is color palette + subtle accents.
Isabelle: For Lio: a neutral base. Soft greens and sandy taupes for the walls. Dino Silhouettes, a custom mural, or maybe wallpaper. More storybook style than cartoon. Texture it up with wood shelves, natural materials, and some cute storage baskets that don’t scream plastic chaos.
Isabelle: For Luka: Think more along the lines of vintage race cars. Maybe white with some slate grey? More graphic than literal? Maybe we could find a tire print bedding…  also vintage racing posters, or maybe wallpaper.
Victoria: You’re kidding. That sounds… beautiful. Isabelle. This is amazing.
Isabelle: It can be cute and timeless. Trust me.
Victoria:  Can I actually hire you for this? Like, for real?
Isabelle: You don’t have to hire me. I’ll help because I want to. But thank you for asking.
Victoria: No, thank you.  You’re brilliant.  I’ve looked at a million Pinterest boards, and none of them had this.
Victoria: Max is a nightmare to impress, and even he won't stop bragging about how you designed the penthouse.
Isabelle:  I’ll put together two mood boards for you—one for each theme: subtle, elevated, and adaptable. You can mix and match, and I’ll help make it look amazing.
Victoria: You’re amazing. Truly.
***
Isabelle was in the studio early—like always—finalizing fabric pulls for a coastal villa project when she opened the project file and found everything… gone.
Her digital mood boards? Wiped.
The CAD revisions she stayed up late fixing? Replaced with an earlier, incomplete draft.
At first, she thought it was a mistake. Maybe she’d forgotten to save her edits. Maybe the cloud hadn’t synced. Maybe—
“Hey, Isabelle,” said Léa, voice syrupy-sweet from her desk across the room. “Your name’s all over the drive this morning. Everything okay?”
Isabelle turned, trying to keep her voice steady. “Someone deleted my work.”
“Oh?” Léa blinked. “Maybe you just didn’t save it?”
“I did.”
“Well, these things happen. Tech is finicky. Or maybe it was a permissions issue?” She smiled, sharp and condescending. “You’re still getting used to the system, right?”
Isabelle said nothing.
It wasn’t the first time. Last week, someone had “accidentally” removed her name from a client presentation. The week before that, she'd been left out of a team brainstorming session for a luxury development she’d pitched.
Now this.
She wasn’t supposed to care.
But she did.
So, so much.
***
Max heard the door open and shut softly. He glanced at the clock—past midnight. Again.
Isabelle walked in, kicking off her heels and sighing as she dropped her bag on the floor. She looked exhausted, with dark circles under her eyes, shoulders slumped with fatigue.
Max crossed his arms, leaning against the counter. “You know,” he said, “there’s an easy solution to this.”
She raised an eyebrow, already knowing where this was going. “Oh?”
“You quit your job,” he said simply. “Become my incredibly spoiled, disgustingly pampered trophy wife. No more late nights, no more stress. Just you, spending my money and riding your horses.”
Isabelle snorted, shaking her head as she walked toward him. “Max.”
“I’m serious,” he said, watching her. “I don’t like seeing you like this. You work too much.”
She sighed, rubbing at her temples. “I know. But I don’t like depending on anybody.”
Max frowned. “It’s not depending on me, it’s—”
“It is,” she cut in gently. “I’ve spent my whole life making sure I can take care of myself. I never want to be in a position where I have to rely on someone else to be okay.”
His expression softened, and he reached for her hand, pulling her closer. “You wouldn’t have to. But you could if you wanted to.”
She exhaled, leaning into him slightly. “I know. And that’s why I love you. But I need this, Max. I need to know I can stand on my own two feet.”
Max sighed, pressing a kiss to her temple. “Fine. But at least let me buy you dinner when you come home too late to eat.”
She smiled, wrapping her arms around his waist. “That, I can agree to.”

Victoria: Do you still want to help with the final installation for the boys’ rooms?
Isabelle: Of course!  Just say when.
Victoria: Next weekend?
Victoria: Luka’s been asking when “Tante Belle” is coming back to make his race cars zoomier.
Victoria: And I promised him wallpaper would happen soon, or I’d never hear the end of it.
Isabelle: I can fly in Friday night. Max has a race weekend, so I’ll be solo anyway.
Isabelle: Want me to bring anything?
Victoria: Your magic brain.
Victoria:  And maybe the strength of ten men for this wallpaper. Think we can manage?
Isabelle: If you hold it straight, I’ll climb the ladder. We’ve got this.
Victoria: That’s the spirit.
Victoria: Also—want to do a decor run Saturday morning?
Victoria: I thought I had taste, but apparently, everything I pick is “too boring” or “not sparkly enough.”
Isabelle: Consider it a mission.
Isabelle: But honestly… I might just order half the internet to your house before I get there.
Victoria: Dangerous. I like it.
Isabelle: Just let me know what color Lio’s “not jungle but jungle” theme has become this week.
Victoria: I think we’ve settled on “treehouse with optional dinosaurs.”
Isabelle: That’s a mood.
Isabelle: Thank you for asking me to come. Really.
Victoria: Belle.  You’re family.
Victoria: And you’re good at this. That combo is rare and very needed.
Isabelle: Now you’re going to make me cry over wallpaper.
Victoria: You’re allowed.
Victoria:  Just not on the ladder.

Isabelle: Victoria invited me to come for the weekend.
Isabelle: To help with the boys’ rooms. Final install.
Max: That’s great! She loves your designs. I knew she’d want you there for it. You said yes, right?
Isabelle: Of course.
Isabelle: I mean… I think I did?
Isabelle: I panicked a little and offered to book a Friday evening flight and overnight half of Zara Home to her house.
Max: Sounds like a yes.
Isabelle: It’s the first time someone in your family’s invited me like that. Just… as me.
Max: That’s because they love you.  I knew they would.  You’re impossible not to love.
Isabelle: You’re biased.
Max: I’m correct.
Max: You’re going, right?
Isabelle: Yeah. I want to.  You’ll be gone anyway. Race weekend.
Max: Good. I like it when you’re with them.
Isabelle: Thank you.
Max: For what?
Isabelle: For never making me feel like I’m just passing through.
Max: You’re not. You’re home.

Max: Thanks again for inviting her this weekend.
Victoria: Don’t be ridiculous. She’s brilliant.  And the boys adore her.
Victoria: Luka yelled, “ISABELLE’S HERE!” like she was Santa.
Max: I think she was really nervous.  She hasn’t been… included like this much. Not by family.
Victoria: I picked up on that. She was so polite it almost broke my heart.
Max: Yeah.  That’s kind of her default.  Be small, be quiet, and don’t get in the way.
Victoria: Not in this house.
Max: Thank you.
Victoria: You don’t have to thank me for loving someone who clearly loves you.
Victoria: I see the way she looks at you, Max.
Victoria: Like she’s finally allowed to breathe.
Max: That’s how I feel when she walks in the room.
Victoria: Then we’re all exactly where we should be.
Victoria: I’ve got her. Go win your race.
Max: Trying. For both of you.
Victoria: We’ll be watching. Luka’s already decided that if you win, it’s because Isabelle helped pick the right snacks.
Max: He might be right.
Max: Thank you, Vic. Really.
Victoria:  She’s family.  I just hope one day her brothers realize what they’ve been blind to.
Max: I hope so, too. But until then—she’s got us.
Victoria: She always will.

Meanwhile on Twitter:
@/gridwives: I’m gonna need someone to explain why Isabelle Leclerc is calmly shopping with Victoria Verstappen like it’s not news?!
↳@/softpitstop: I think Isabelle is helping Victoria with her sons’ rooms. ↳@/sleuthsinmonaco: Do you think Max gave Victoria an interior designer tip?!
@/lightsoutgirlies: This is my Roman empire: Victoria Verstappen and Isabelle leclerc
@/wagsandwhiplash:  Wait, wait wait—are Luka and Lio getting room makeovers??? And Isabelle Leclerc is doing them?? Like designing them???
@/thepaddockprince:  Okay, but I’m sorry, WHERE is Charles in all this? Isabelle’s out here designing Verstappen bedrooms, and he’s just... letting that happen?
@/f1fanficfuel: i need 4k behind-the-scenes content. I need the mood boards. I need the receipts. I NEED TO KNOW WHY ISABELLE LECLERC IS DECORATING THE VERSTAPPEN FAMILY HOME.
@/danielricchaos The funniest thing about all this is that none of them are explaining anything.Victoria just tagged her.  Isabel didn’t repost. Max hasn’t said a word, and now I’m insane.
@/leclercstanaccount: me trying to figure out how Charles’s invisible sister ended up doing a home makeover with victoria verstappen: ?!?!
@softlaunchcentral:  Ok, but why does Victoria’s entire weekend story arc feel like a soft launch of a new family member?  Isabelle Leclerc walked in with a tape measure and iced coffee and took OVER
@/babyverstappens: No, but genuinely: How do Victoria Verstappen and Isabelle Leclerc know each other?! Who organized this crossover episode? Was it Fred Vasseur? Is this ferrari pr? Are we being gaslit?
@/plsnotanothersecretwedding: Isabelle Leclerc shopping for race car wallpaper and stuffed dinosaurs was not on my 2025 Paddock Bingo card. But I’m invested now.
@/wagsfc: are we… soft-launching Isabelle Leclerc as victoria’s best friend?? is this happening??
@/formulaclarles: Why is Charles Leclerc’s sister shopping for Victoria Verstappen’s kids’ rooms???
@/dinosanddrs: The Verstappen toddler has a Leclerc choosing his wallpaper. F1 lore has never been deeper.
@/paddockpoetry: Watching Victoria and Isabelle together today just made me realize that… they both have brothers who risk their lives every weekend. Not a lot of people understand what that does to you.
@/f1bloom: Victoria and Isabelle are from two different worlds but somehow the same one:  like who else really understands that fear? Of watching the person you love fly at 300km/h and having to smile through it?
@/slowpitstoppoet: Victoria Verstappen and Isabelle Leclerc are watching the race together while wrangling toddlers like it’s a normal Sunday afternoon… There’s something really tender about that.
↳@/paddockthoughts It’s easy to forget sometimes that these guys are brothers and sons and uncles—not just drivers.
@/theracedaypoet: Two sisters. Two very different men behind the wheel. One Red Bull. One Ferrari. And somehow, they meet in the middle of a living room, with juice boxes, toy dinosaurs, and silent prayers. That’s what hit me about Victoria’s stories today.
@tracksideemotions: Charles Leclerc. Max Verstappen. Two of the most elite drivers in f1. Their sisters? Sat on a couch this afternoon, raising small kids and holding juice pouches and watching people they love do something terrifying. I don’t know. That’s kind of beautiful.
@/gridgirlsundays Not to get sentimental, but Victoria Verstappen and Isabelle Leclerc watching the race together? That’s actually so beautiful??? Two women who know exactly what it’s like to love someone who goes 300 kph for a living
@/gridgirlsunite: Seeing Victoria and Isabelle watching the race together, surrounded by kids and calm chaos… and realizing both of them have brothers in those cars. That hit.
@/chaoticenergyf1:  We always talk about the WAGs.  But the sisters? The ones who grew up with karting fumes in their hair and have to smile through every post-race debrief because no one really asks if they’re okay? Victoria and Isabelle deserve more credit.

Leclerc Sibling Group Chat
(Members: Arthur, Isabelle, Charles and Lorenzo)
Isabelle: My car won’t start.
Isabelle: Can I borrow one of yours for a few days?
Charles: No.
Arthur: HAHAHAHAHAHA. No.
Lorenzo: Absolutely not.
Isabelle: …Are you kidding me? I have no way to get to work.
Arthur: Take the train?
Isabelle: It’s too far, and there’s no direct route.
Charles: The bus?
Isabelle: I’d have to leave in five minutes to even make it work.
Lorenzo: Taxi?
Isabelle: I can’t afford a taxi every day, Lorenzo.
Arthur: Maybe this is a sign you should finally buy a new car.
Isabelle: Oh yes, let me just manifest thousands of euros out of thin air.
Charles: You should have planned for this.
Isabelle: My car was fine yesterday, Charles! I didn’t exactly expect it to die overnight!
Arthur: Sounds like a you problem.
Isabelle: You problem?? My car just DIED. I didn’t plan for this!
Lorenzo: Maybe you should’ve.
Isabelle: HOW DOES ONE PLAN FOR THEIR CAR DYING OVERNIGHT?
Charles: By not driving something from 2010.
Arthur: Isabelle, your car was basically a tin can on wheels. It was only a matter of time.
Lorenzo: Yeah, at this point, it was a mercy killing.
Isabelle: Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize we all had Ferrari sponsorships. Let me just drop six figures on a new car real quick.
Arthur: You don’t need six figures. You just need something that isn’t held together by hope and desperation.
Isabelle: I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THIS.
Isabelle: One of you just lend me a car. For TWO DAYS. I promise I won’t even breathe near the paint.
Charles: Isabelle, you can’t just borrow a Ferrari like it’s a spare phone charger.
Isabelle: I wasn’t asking for your Ferrari specifically, Charles! Any of you must have something I can use.
Lorenzo: You’ll survive.

Max: Hey, you okay? Haven’t heard from you today.
Isabelle: Oh. Yeah. Just dealing with a disaster.
Max: …What kind of disaster?
Isabelle: My car is dead. Like fully dead. It made a noise that I’m pretty sure meant it was dying, started smoking, and then it wouldn’t start.
Max: That’s… not great. Did you have it towed?
Isabelle: It’s at the garage now. The mechanic basically said it’s on life support and not worth fixing.
Max: So take one of mine. You know where the car keys are.
Isabelle: Excuse me?
Max: So just take one of mine. You know where the car keys are. what’s the problem, schatje?
Isabelle: …You say that like it’s normal.
Max: It is normal? We live together? You need a car? I have cars? Just grab a key and take one?
Isabelle: …I asked my brothers if I could borrow one of their cars while I figure things out. Lorenzo ignored me. Arthur laughed. Charles said that I should have planned for this.
Max: Your brothers are useless.
Max: Take any one of the cars.
Isabelle: Max. Be serious.
Max: I am serious.
Isabelle: What if I crash it?!
Max: Then I worry more about you than the car.
Isabelle: What if I scratch something??
Max: Then it gets fixed.
Isabelle: Max.
Max: Isabelle.
Max: Just take one. I don’t want you dealing with this.
Isabelle: I cannot believe this. My own brothers wouldn’t even consider letting me borrow a car, and you—
Max: I’m your boyfriend. This is normal.
Isabelle: Is it???
Max: Yes. Now go pick a car before I get somebody to drive you everywhere.
Isabelle: You wouldn’t.
Max Verstappen: Schatje, they are just cars. You are making a big deal out of nothing. Pick whichever one you want.
Isabelle: I just… I can’t believe you’re okay with this.
Isabelle: You are actually insane.
Max: No, I’m practical. You need a car, I have cars. Problem solved.
Isabelle: Fine. Which one do you care about the least?
Max: None of them are as important as you.
Isabelle: That’s not what I—Max. Which one??
Max: …The Porsche?
Isabelle: I cannot take your Porsche.
Max: Okay, then take the Aston.
Isabelle: That is worse.sss
Max: Take the Audi, then. Or one of the Ferraris.
Isabelle: You are not helping.
Max: I’m literally giving you a solution, schatje. Just pick any of the cars. I don’t care which one you use. I have to get ready for qualifying. Take a car. Be safe. And text me when you’re home. Love you.
Isabelle: Love you too, you ridiculous man.

Isabelle: You are NOT going to believe the absolute nonsense I just went through.
Emilie: Oh, this is already promising. Go on.
Isabelle: My car? Dead. Like full-on smoking and now won’t start. So I asked my dear, wonderful brothers if I could borrow one of their cars.
Emilie: Oh, I know this isn’t going to end well.
Isabelle: Lorenzo said ABSOLUTELY NOT. Arthur laughed. Charles told me, and I QUOTE: “Isabelle, you can’t just borrow a Ferrari like it’s a spare phone charger.”
Emilie: I shouldn’t be surprised, and yet.
Isabelle: I was fuming.
Emilie: So what’s the solution? Are you getting a rental?
Isabelle: I WAS. And then Max texted me because I hadn’t answered him all day. I explained the whole thing, and do you know what he said??
Emilie: …I am both excited and terrified to find out.
Isabelle: “Just take one of mine.”
Emilie: …
Emilie: Of course he did.
Isabelle: I told him that was INSANE. Like, shouldn’t racing drivers be obsessed with their cars? Worried I’ll scratch them? Do you know what Charles would do if I so much as LOOKED at his Ferrari keys too long??
Emilie: Have a full-on cardiac episode.
Isabelle: EXACTLY.
Emilie: And Max?
Isabelle: Told me to just grab a key and drive whichever car I wanted.
Emilie: …He really just handed you the keys to the kingdom, huh?
Isabelle: I told him I could CRASH it, and do you know what he said??
Emilie: Oh, I cannot wait.
Isabelle: “Then I worry more about you than the car.”
Emilie: …
Emilie: This man is going to MARRY you.
Isabelle: SHUT UP.
Emilie: I WILL NOT. That was the most disgustingly romantic thing I’ve ever read.

Max: So… what are we thinking for a new car?
Isabelle: Something used. I don’t need anything fancy.
Max: Used?
Isabelle: Yes?? I’ll be throwing horse stuff in there anyway. No point in getting something new just to cover it in mud and hay.
Max: No.
Isabelle: …No?
Max: No. You’re getting something safe.
Isabelle: Max.
Max: Isabelle.
Isabelle: You are being ridiculous.
Max: For wanting you to be in a car that won’t fall apart if someone breathes on it? Yeah, I am so ridiculous, you wouldn’t believe it.
Isabelle: It’s not going to fall apart, Max. I’ve had my car for years.
Max: And look what happened to it.
Isabelle: …Okay, fair.
Max: So. Something safe. Think about the children.
Isabelle: …What.
Max: When we have kids, you’re going to be driving them around.
Isabelle: Excuse me???
Max: What?
Isabelle: WHEN we have kids???
Max: Yes??
Isabelle: You’re already thinking about that??
Max: Of course.
Isabelle: Oh my god.
Max: I thought you’d already thought about it.
Isabelle: I have, but you thinking about it is a whole different thing!!
Max: Why wouldn’t I? I want a family. With you.
Isabelle: …
Max: Schatje?
Isabelle: I need a minute.
Max: Okay. Take your minute. But after that, we’re getting back to the car discussion because you are not getting some half-broken used car.
Isabelle: You just casually dropped “when we have kids” into a conversation about cars like it was nothing.
Max: It’s just… something I’ve thought about. A lot.
Isabelle: A lot??
Max: Yes? I want to spend my life with you. So obviously, I think about that.
Isabelle: Oh my god.
Max: And you’ve thought about it too.
Isabelle: I— okay, maybe, but that’s different!
Max: How?
Isabelle: Because I didn’t expect you to think about it!!
Max: …Schatje.
Isabelle: What.
Max: I love you.
Isabelle: …I love you too.
Max: I want to build a future with you. A family. I don’t know when that will happen, but I know that when it does, I want you to be the mother of my children.
Isabelle: …
Max: You’re being very quiet.
Isabelle: …Just processing.
Max: Take your time.

Isabelle: Emilie. Emergency.
Emilie: What did Max do?
Isabelle: We were talking about CARS. Just cars. Like normal people.
Emilie: Uh-huh…
Isabelle: And then out of nowhere, he’s like, “Well, think about the children.”
Emilie: …WHAT.
Isabelle: EXACTLY.
Emilie: WHAT.
Emilie: And what did you say???
Isabelle: Nothing! My brain short-circuited! He just kept talking like it was totally normal!!!
Emilie: Belle. Be honest. Are you freaking out because it was unexpected or because you really liked hearing him say that?
Isabelle: …I met his nephews.
Isabelle: Emilie. They’re tiny Maxes. Like. Exact replicas. The genes in that family are scary.
Emilie: YOU’RE GONE.
Isabelle: I’M IN DANGER.
Emilie: No, you’re in love.
Emilie: Belle. I love you, but you’ve always been that girl. The type who had a secret wedding Pinterest board at sixteen and a list of baby names hidden in your notes app.
Isabelle: …Shut up.
Emilie: Am I wrong?
Isabelle: …No.
Emilie: EXACTLY. And now you have a boyfriend who also thinks about those things. I’m so happy for you.
Isabelle: But like. He said it so casually. Like he just knows it’s going to happen. No hesitation, no panic. Just “Think about the children.”
Emilie: He’s in love with you, Belle. Obviously, he’s thinking about the future.
Isabelle: Yeah, but. That far ahead?
Emilie: Let’s be real. You love that he’s thinking about it.
Isabelle: I do. I really do.
Emilie: So. What are we naming my future godchild?
Isabelle: EMILIE.
Emilie: Just saying, you should prepare. Because if you do have a kid with Max Verstappen, it’s definitely going to be a mini Max.
Isabelle: I KNOW. That’s the problem. His genes are terrifyingly strong.
Emilie: You’re already picturing it, aren’t you?
Isabelle: …Maybe.
Emilie: You’re so gone for this man.
Isabelle: I KNOW.
Isabelle: I mean, logically, I knew Max was serious about us. But hearing him say something like that so casually? Like it’s just… a fact?
Emilie: Because to him, it is a fact. Belle, you are it for him. You really think Max Verstappen does things halfway?
Isabelle: No…
Emilie: Exactly. This is a guy who commits fully to everything. You think he wouldn’t be the same about you? About your future together?
Isabelle: I guess I just never thought someone would… want that with me, you know?
Emilie: Oh, Belle.
Isabelle: Like, I love my brothers, but I’ve spent my whole life feeling like an afterthought. Charles, Lorenzo and Arthur had their thing, their path, their goals. I was just… there.
Emilie: You were never just there.
Isabelle: It felt like it. Like I was always waiting for someone to see me. And now here’s Max, just—knowing. No hesitation, no doubts. He just knows.
Emilie: And that scares you?
Isabelle: No. That’s the thing—it doesn’t. It should, right? I should be panicking because it’s too much, too soon. But I’m not.
Emilie: Because deep down, you’ve already thought about it too.
Isabelle: …Yeah.
Emilie: So what now?
Isabelle: I don’t know. I mean, what am I supposed to do? Text him like, “Hey, I’d love to ruin my body for you, let’s make a Verstappen baby”?
Emilie: STOP! I just choked on my drink.
Isabelle: You asked!
Emilie: Okay, but honestly—do you want that? Not just in theory. Not just someday. With him.
Isabelle: …Yeah. I do.
Emilie: Belle. That’s huge.
Isabelle: I know. But it’s also terrifying.
Emilie: Why?
Isabelle: Because what if I let myself want it too much? What if I start dreaming about it and then something happens? What if it doesn’t work out?
Emilie: Okay, but what if it does? What if you and Max get everything you’ve ever wanted?
Isabelle: …Then I think I’d be really, really happy.
Emilie: Then maybe it’s time to start letting yourself believe in it.
Isabelle: Yeah. Maybe it is.

Isabelle: Just answer the question, Verstappen.
Max: Fine. I like names that sound strong. Nothing too complicated.
Isabelle: …That’s not an answer.
Max: You answer first.
Isabelle: No, because then you’ll just pick one of mine to agree with.
Max: That is not true.
Isabelle: Prove it.
Max: Okay. If it’s a boy… maybe Noah.

Max: Says the girl with four names. I refuse to name our kid Willem, by the way.

Max: Hey, I need car advice.
GP: For yourself?
Max: No, for Isabelle.
GP: What happened to her current car?
Max: It died. Fixing it would cost more than it's worth.
GP: That sounds about right. So, what are you thinking?
Max: Something safe for the kids.
GP:
GP:
GP: WHAT KIDS?
Max: ???
GP: MAX.
GP: ISABELLE IS PREGNANT???
Max: No??
GP: THEN WHY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT "SOMETHING SAFE FOR THE KIDS"?
Max: Oh. I meant, like, future kids.
GP: Max.
GP: You nearly gave me a heart attack.
Max: Why would you immediately assume she's pregnant?
GP: BECAUSE YOU SAID "FOR THE KIDS."
Max: Yeah, but future ones. Obviously.
GP: Nothing about that was obvious, Max.
Max: …So do you have a car suggestion or not?
GP: Max. MAX. You’ve been dating for—what—five months?
Max: Almost six.
GP: AND YOU’RE ALREADY THINKING ABOUT KIDS??
Max: I mean, yeah? Why wouldn’t I?
GP: Because most people don’t plan future car safety for hypothetical children six months into a relationship??
Max: Well, when you know, you know.
Max: Anyway. I’m thinking of an SUV. Maybe a Mercedes. Isabelle wants something practical, but I don’t trust her to pick something actually safe.
GP: What does she want?
Max: “Something cheap that won’t make her cry if a horse destroys it.”
GP: And you?
Max: Something that won’t crumple in a crash. Something safe. Something that—
GP: Can carry future Verstappen babies, I got it.
Max: You’re catching on.
GP: You are so lucky I’ve known you this long because if anyone else told me this six months into dating, I’d assume they were insane.
Max: I am insane.
GP: … Fair.
GP: So, does Isabelle know you’re out here planning a future family car?
Max: Not exactly.
GP: Oh my god.
Max: We were just talking about what kind of car she should get, and I may have casually mentioned thinking about safety for future kids.
GP: And?
Max: She kind of short-circuited.
GP: No kidding.
GP: So, what’s the plan?
Max: I’m going to “help” her pick something.
GP: Meaning?
Max: Meaning she thinks we’re going car shopping, but really, I’m going to steer her toward something I already picked out.
GP: You are so manipulative.
Max: Smart. I’m smart.
GP: Does she know that you’re just going to buy it for her?
Max: No, and she’ll fight me on it, but I’ll win.
GP: How?
Max: I’ll just tell her it’s a gift, and if she doesn’t accept it, I’ll be very sad.
GP: Max, that only works because you have the face of a golden retriever.
Max: And I use it.
Max: So, what car should I buy her?
GP: You want me to help you pick a car for your girlfriend, who has no idea you’re about to buy her a car?
Max: Exactly.
GP: Do I look like a car salesman?
Max: You look like my race engineer, which means you’re good at analyzing data and helping me make smart decisions.
GP: That is such a stretch.
Max: Come on. What would you get if you were picking a car for your girlfriend?
GP: Something reliable. Safe. Not too flashy—
Max: Boring.
GP: Practical.
Max: I don’t want Isabelle driving something boring.
GP: Because you’re planning on borrowing it?
Max: No! Because she deserves something nice.
GP: But she doesn’t want nice, she wants practical.
Max: I can do both.
GP: Max—
Max: What?
GP: Just buy her a Volvo.
Max: A Volvo?
GP: Safe. Reliable. Built to last.
Max: But—
GP: Also one of the best crash-tested brands in the world. You did say you were thinking about kids, right?
Max: I hate that you know me this well.
GP: That’s my job.
Max: …Fine. I’ll look at Volvos.
GP: Good. Just… next time you text me something like that, lead with the fact that she’s not pregnant.
Max: I think it was funnier this way.
GP: I hate you.

"You’re being weird."
Max glanced at Isabelle as they walked into the dealership, his face a perfect mask of innocence. "I’m not being weird."
"You are," she insisted, narrowing her eyes. "You hate car dealerships. You said, and I quote, ‘Why would I subject myself to this when I can just order a car online and have it delivered like a normal person?’”
"Well," Max said smoothly, "this is different. This is your car."
Isabelle was still suspicious but let it go. For now. She’s just grateful he came with her. She might love shopping, but car shopping? Absolutely not.
A salesman approached, all too eager when he recognised who had just walked in. "Mr. Verstappen, it’s a pleasure! How can I help you today?"
Max didn’t even hesitate. "We’re looking at SUVs."
Isabelle stopped in her tracks. "We are?"
"Yes," Max said, completely unfazed. "Something safe. Reliable. Good for long drives and carrying things."
"Like hay and tack and muddy boots?" she deadpanned.
The salesman, sensing an easy sale, grinned. "I’ve got some great options! Any particular brands in mind?"
Max gave him a look. The look. The one that meant he already had one car in mind and would not be swayed.
"Show us the Volvo XC90, please."
Isabelle blinked. "A Volvo?"
Max nodded. "Volvos are the safest cars on the market."
"You sound like a commercial."
"It’s true."
"I thought you were going to make me test drive something ridiculous, like a Ferrari SUV."
"No," Max scoffed, as if the mere suggestion was offensive.
The salesman led them over to a sleek, black Volvo XC90. Isabelle, despite herself, was intrigued. It was nice. Comfortable. It had all the modern safety features Max has probably memorized.
She ran her hand over the hood. "This is… actually not bad."
Max gave her a satisfied look. "GP thought you would like it."
Isabelle frowned. "Wait. GP was involved in this?"
"Of course. He and I had a whole discussion."
"About my car?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
Max shrugged, playing innocent. "I wanted his opinion. He agreed it was a good choice for you."
Isabelle crossed her arms. "So you two picked this out before we even got here?"
"Not exactly—"
"Max."
"Okay, yes."
Isabelle gaped at him. "So this whole ‘shopping’ trip was just a performance? A setup?"
Max looked far too pleased with himself. "Well, I couldn’t just tell you to get this one. You’d have fought me on it."
"Of course I would have! You can’t just decide for me!"
"But you like it, don’t you?"
She hesitated. Damn him. She did like it. But that wasn’t the point.
"You’re insufferable."
Max grinned, leaning against the car. "Yet, here we are."
The salesman, wisely staying out of this, cleared his throat. "Would you like to test drive it?"
Isabelle sighed. "I guess."
Max nudged her. "You’re welcome."
"I didn’t thank you."
"You will," Max said smugly.
And annoyingly, she knew he was right.
***
Max had never been one for extravagant birthday celebrations. He much preferred a quiet evening, good food, and the company of someone he actually wanted to be around. Which was why, when Isabelle asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday, his answer was simple:
"Just dinner. At home. With you."
So that was exactly what they did.
Isabelle had insisted on cooking, despite his half-hearted protests that they could just order something. But she had shot him a look—one he knew well by now, the kind that dared him to argue—and so he had wisely backed off. Instead, he stood at the kitchen island, sipping a glass of wine as he watched her move around the kitchen with quiet efficiency.
"You know," he mused, "this is a pretty good birthday already."
She rolled her eyes, but he caught the small smile she tried to hide. "I haven't even finished cooking yet."
"Doesn't matter. You’re here. That’s enough."
Her hands stilled on the cutting board, her grip tightening slightly before she exhaled and resumed slicing the vegetables. She had never been great at accepting compliments, but Max had learned to give them anyway.
Dinner turned out perfect—simple, comforting, and exactly what he wanted. After they had eaten, they lingered at the table, talking about everything and nothing at all, her fingers occasionally brushing against his. When they finally moved to the couch, he pulled her close, letting out a content sigh.
"Happy birthday, Max," she murmured, pressing a kiss to his jaw.
He hummed in response, his arms tightening around her. "It is."
Max hadn’t wanted a big celebration. No parties, no cameras, no over-the-top surprises—just a quiet evening at home with Isabelle. And honestly, that was all he needed.
He smiled, tightening his hold on her. “It is.”
The quiet hum of the city outside their apartment barely registered as Max sat there, content with the warmth of Isabelle tucked against him. He had spent birthdays in Monaco, in fancy restaurants, surrounded by people who barely knew him beyond his racing. But this—just the two of them, no distractions—was his favorite.
She shifted slightly, tilting her head to look up at him. "You’re really that easy to please?"
Max smirked. "When it comes to you? Yeah."
A faint flush rose on her cheeks, and he resisted the urge to tease her for it. Instead, he traced a slow line along her arm, feeling the way she relaxed under his touch.
After a while, Isabelle sat up, reaching for something on the coffee table. It was a small, neatly wrapped box—he hadn’t even noticed it before. She hesitated before handing it to him.
"I know you said you didn’t want anything," she said, suddenly looking a little nervous. "But—well, I wanted to get you something anyway."
Max took the box, curiosity flickering in his eyes as he unwrapped it. Inside was a simple metal bracelet. But what caught his attention was the engraving on the inside—subtle, almost hidden.
"Vitesse et cœur."
Speed and heart.
His chest tightened.
"It’s nothing big," Isabelle said quickly. "I just—I know racing is everything to you, but I also know you drive with more than just skill. You drive with everything you have." She exhaled, fingers twisting together. "I just thought it fit."
Max stared at her for a long moment before carefully sliding the bracelet onto his wrist. It fit perfectly.
He didn’t say anything right away—just pulled her close, pressing a lingering kiss to her forehead.
"You know me too well," he murmured against her skin.
She huffed a quiet laugh. "I’d hope so, considering I’ve been secretly dating you for months."
Max chuckled, his grip on her tightening. "Best secret I’ve ever kept."

I loved the platonic Malleus helps Yuu get Idia fic and I was wondering if you could so something similar with Cater or Trey or Vil or Leona or Floyd? You can choose, anything like that would be amazing my liege.
you asked and i answered, i love this concept so much
Fae Courtship 101: Romance for Dummies || Floyd Leech
In your desperation to confess to Floyd, you made the grave mistake of recruiting Malleus for help—now the only thing you’re courting is death.
Tumblr media
For reasons beyond mortal comprehension—beyond your own comprehension—you have fallen for Floyd Leech.
Floyd. Leech.
The man who treats personal space like a suggestion, bites people for fun, and once chased a first-year across campus while laughing like a slasher villain because he was “bored.”
The man who once tried to sell you to Azul in exchange for a really nice hat. The man who could, at any given moment, be contemplating something as simple as “what’s for lunch” or something as horrifyingly chaotic as “what if I threw the prefect off the third-floor balcony to see how they bounce?”
It’s a bad idea. Objectively, scientifically, in every single way, this is a mistake.
Grim and Deuce have been holding interventions. The ghosts of Ramshackle have been looking at you like they’re already preparing to welcome you into their ranks. You're rapidly losing the moral high ground in any discussion about Ace’s bad life choices.
But the heart wants what it wants. And unfortunately, yours wants to make terrible decisions.
Which brings you here, pacing alongside Malleus Draconia, crown prince of Briar Valley, king of ominous nighttime strolls, and your designated therapist for the evening.
“I just—I don’t get it, Malleus!” you wail, gesturing wildly as you stomp through the moonlit campus. “I should like normal people! People who don’t consider attempted murder to be a love language! I should have instincts!”
Malleus hums in thought. “Hm. Concerning.”
“Exactly!” You throw your hands up. “I should be running in the opposite direction! Instead, I’m over here, wondering if he’d bite me gently if I asked nicely!”
Malleus stops walking.
You stop too, looking over to see him gazing at you with a carefully neutral expression. There’s a brief silence. A beat. And then, slowly—gravely—he nods.
“Understood.”
You blink. “...Huh?”
He turns to you with the air of a man who has just accepted a sacred duty. “You have chosen a perilous path, Child of Man.”
You stare. “I—??"
“But fear not,” he continues, raising a hand to his chest in solemn promise. “I shall help you attain your romance.”
Silence.
A breeze rolls through the courtyard. A crow caws in the distance. Somewhere, Grim is experiencing a deep sense of foreboding.
“…You’re going to what?”
Malleus nods again, expression determined. “Leave it to me.”
You suddenly have so many regrets.
Tumblr media
Grim looks at you the way a doctor looks at a patient about to flatline. Gravely. With pity. With deep concern for the irreversible damage.
"Okay, listen hench-human, I’ve let a lot of things slide, but this? This I gotta ask—do you hate life that much?"
You blink at him. "What?"
Grim waves his little paws dramatically. "First, you fall for Floyd of all people. That’s already a death wish. And now, you’re actually listening to Malleus for dating advice? What’s next? You gonna ask Kalim for tips on financial responsibility?!"
You open your mouth. Close it. You… okay, you really have no defense. But before you can say anything—
There’s a knock at the door.
And you don’t even have to guess who it is.
You open it to find Malleus standing there, his expression set in earnest determination. In his hands is a book that looks older than your grandmother. The kind of ancient tome that looks like it holds dark secrets, forbidden spells, possibly even a recipe for soup made from human souls.
Standing right next to him, grinning like a goblin, is Lilia.
You feel your soul leave your body.
"Ah, Child of Man," Malleus intones. "I have found it. The ultimate guide to fae courtship rituals. You shall use these techniques to win the heart of your eel."
"Oh, this is gonna be fun," Lilia cackles. "Do you know how long it's been since I’ve seen these methods in action? The devastation! The absolute carnage!"
You stare at them. You stare into the abyss. The abyss grins back.
Grim looks at you, his face a perfect picture of someone watching a loved one make the worst life decisions in real time.
"You’re really doin’ this, huh?"
…You sigh. "Yeah. I’m really doing this."
Tumblr media
You are simply minding your own business, walking to class like a normal person, when you spot Floyd approaching from the other end of the hallway.
As always, you smile at him, because you have fully accepted your fate as a fool with horrible taste in men. You expect him to either grin back or threaten to suplex you for fun—classic Floyd things.
What you do not expect is the sudden sensation of a phantom hand shoving you forward.
And just like that, gravity wins.
You crash into Floyd with all the grace of a drunk goose, smacking into his chest with enough force to send both of you stumbling. Floyd barely moves (because he is built like a problem), but you rebound like a cartoon character, nearly falling over before his hands land heavily on your shoulders.
For a brief, dizzying moment, you stare at him.
Then, slowly, your brain remembers what just happened, and you whip around—
Only to see Malleus standing at the end of the hallway, looking extremely pleased with himself.
He gives you a smug, regal nod.
He is also holding a book titled "How to Romance for Dummies."
You are going to throw hands with a literal prince.
Before you can implode, Floyd’s grip on your shoulders tightens. You turn back to him, only to find him looking entirely too displeased about being your impromptu landing pad.
“Shriiiimpy,” he drawls, squinting at you like a judge in a courtroom drama. “What’s up with that, huh? Tryna tackle me first thing in the morning?”
“I—I tripped!” you stammer, trying to collect the shreds of your dignity. “I didn’t mean to crash into you, I swear!”
Floyd hums, unconvinced. Then, after a beat of consideration, he shrugs.
“Aaah, whatever.” His fingers dig just slightly into your shoulders, a slow grin stretching across his face. “You still ran into me, soooo… you owe me.”
You blink. “Wait. Owe you?”
“Mhm!” His grin widens, teeth sharp. “Now ya gotta hang out with me today.”
You blink again. Slowly. You could argue, but you have a sneaking suspicion that it won’t get you anywhere, and honestly? Maybe this is exactly the opening you need.
Maybe… Malleus isn’t that bad at this.
Tumblr media
You take that last thought back immediately.
Because not even a day after that whole hallway fiasco, Malleus finds you again, pulls you aside with all the gravitas of an ancient ruler about to bestow divine wisdom, and insists that, in order to properly court Floyd, you must—
Compliment Floyd’s strength three times. At first, you thought, okay, easy enough, I can just tell him he’s strong and call it a day. But then—THEN—Malleus, in his infinite wisdom, handed you a quill and parchment and declared, “It must be in verse. Poetry carries the weight of true devotion.”
And now, here you are.
Standing in front of Floyd Leech. Holding a piece of paper with the most cringe-inducing attempt at poetry you've ever written in your life.
Floyd, to his credit, was already giggling the moment you approached with a look of sheer suffering. But when you clear your throat and attempt to actually read the thing—
"Oh mighty Floyd, with hands so bold—"
He just. Loses it.
Absolutely wheezing, doubling over, practically using you as a support beam to keep himself upright.
You glare at him and continue, determined to power through:
"A force unmatched, a tale retold—"
Floyd: "PFT—!!!"
He’s straight-up crying at this point. Tears. You swear you hear Jade laugh somewhere in the distance.
You don’t even make it to the third compliment. You just turn on your heel and walk away before your soul crumples in on itself like a dying star.
Malleus, watching from afar, sighs in clear disappointment. “You lack dedication,” he murmurs, shaking his head like an elder watching the youth fail at life.
You absolutely regret everything.
Tumblr media
You don't know why you keep letting Malleus give you advice. Actually, no—that's a lie. You do know. It's because the second he heard you liked Floyd, his eyes lit up like he’d just been given a personal quest by the divine forces of romance, and now he refuses to rest until your love is secured.
Unfortunately, this means you are currently locked in yet another horrendous discussion about fae courting rituals.
"Scent-marking is a vital step in courtship," Malleus declares with the kind of grim authority that should be reserved for battlefields, not this. "He must recognize you as his."
You blink at him. "Oh, like giving him my hoodie or something?" That’s normal. That’s doable. That’s the kind of thing people do when they like each other, right? You’ve seen couples swap sweaters before. Maybe Malleus is finally onto something not-insane.
Malleus shakes his head gravely. "No. You must present him with something you have personally scented. Ideally, by rolling upon it."
Silence.
Rolling upon it.
You stare at him. He stares back. Completely serious.
You try to process what he’s just suggested. What he has just, with full sincerity, told you to do.
"Malleus."
"Yes?"
"You want me to roll around on an object like a dog and then give it to Floyd."
"Precisely."
You briefly consider just walking into the ocean.
It takes twenty full minutes to talk him down from this absolute lunacy and convince him that simply giving Floyd a sweater you’ve worn will do the job just fine. He looks at you the way a disappointed coach looks at a failing athlete.
"If you are not dedicated to the craft," he mutters, "you cannot expect great results."
You pretend you don’t hear him.
Fast forward to the next day, and you are sitting in class next to Floyd, who is draped over his desk in a deep and powerful boredom coma.
You pull out the sweater and awkwardly nudge it toward him.
"Here."
Floyd immediately perks up. Dangerously interested. He tilts his head, peering at the sweater like you’ve just handed him a rare treasure.
"Eh? What's this?"
"It's mine. You can have it," you say, trying to play it cool, despite the fact that your entire soul is trying to flee your body from embarrassment.
Floyd picks up the sweater and—without hesitation—presses his face into it.
You almost die. Right then and there. Instant expiration.
He leans back in his chair, grinning way too wide. "Heheh~ You smell nice, shrimpy~"
You barely manage to hold onto your composure. You are barely hanging on.
Malleus, watching from the hallway, narrows his eyes and mutters, "It is not the worst effort... but it lacks the impact of true commitment."
You ignore him. You ignore everything. You're just grateful that—for once—this wasn’t completely unhinged, and that Floyd somehow seems to like it.
Tumblr media
"Nothing says romance like a meal made with your own two hands!" Lilia declares, slamming an ancient, definitely cursed cookbook onto the table.
You blink down at it. The title is in some language that makes your vision swim just looking at it. The edges are charred, the pages stained with substances you’re 70% sure are not food-safe, and Malleus—Malleus Draconia himself, looks a little unsure.
That should have been your first hint.
But you? A fool. An idiot. A desperate, love-struck buffoon? You press forward.
“Alright,” you sigh, rubbing your temples, already regretting this. “What ingredients do I need?”
Lilia beams, flipping to a page that looks like it came from an alchemist’s horror novel.
"Let's see! We’ll need:"
• Moonshade Truffle,
• A pinch of Sablethorn Dust,
• Three drops of Evernight Basilisk Extract,
• Seven Tears of a Joyful Banshee,
• And a Love-Smitten Fire Spirit’s Breath!
You stare.
"Lilia."
"Yes, beastie?"
"These sound like potion ingredients."
"Oh-ho!" Lilia chuckles, waving a hand. "You humans always get so caught up in technicalities. But what is cooking if not a kind of magic?"
…No. No, this is actual magic. You are not making a love potion, but this sure as hell sounds like one.
But, like the fool you are, you go along with it. You spend far too much money (your entire savings) at Azul’s Most Definitely Not a Scam Emporium for all of these ridiculous ingredients. He knows you’re up to something dumb. He does not care. He simply profits.
And now, here you are. In the Ramshackle kitchen. Grim watches from a safe distance behind a chair. Malleus stands off to the side with his arms crossed, looking like he is rethinking his life choices. And Lilia, that menace, is watching you mix the ingredients like a proud mentor.
Everything is going fine. Suspiciously fine.
And then—
"Alright, time to bake it!" Lilia claps his hands. "It says here to bake at 350 for 20 minutes!"
You nod. This is reasonable.
"However!" He flips the page. "In the olden days, we used a slightly different method."
Malleus frowns. Your stomach drops.
"Instead of 350 for 20 minutes…" Lilia hums. "It says here—750 for 10!"
"What."
"Don’t be shy! Give it a try!" Lilia gestures for you to do it.
Malleus shifts, looking like he wants to intervene. Grim is slowly backing out of the room. You ignore all of this.
Because you are an idiot.
You turn the oven to 750. You shove the pan inside. You watch in real-time as your dignity burns.
The oven makes a sound ovens should not make.
Something explodes. The smell is indescribable.
When you pull the pan out, it is a pile of pure, blackened charcoal.
You are horrified. Malleus looks concerned. Grim looks betrayed.
"Are ya tryin’ to kill me, Henchhuman?!" Grim yells. "I thought we were friends!"
But Lilia? Lilia is nodding approvingly.
"Ah," he sighs, nostalgic. "Just like how I remember it."
…This man should not be allowed in kitchens.
But you, an absolute buffoon, take the charred remains of your so-called courtship offering and bring it to Floyd anyway.
You find him in the cafeteria, dump the plate in front of him, and sit down. Defeated.
Floyd stares. Pokes it with a finger.
And then, he looks at you.
With pity.
"Shrimpy." His voice is gentle. You feel a chill of fear. "You goin' through hard times or somethin'?"
You die inside.
Your cooking was so bad that Floyd Leech—FLOYD LEECH—was feeling sympathy for you.
You have never known such shame.
Tumblr media
You sit there, staring into the distance like a soldier who’s seen too much. A philosopher pondering the futility of existence. A person who has scent-marked a sweater and written poetry at the behest of a fae prince who thinks you’re simply not dedicated enough to the craft of love.
You are contemplating life, death, and the many, many decisions that have led you here.
And then, Jade sits beside you.
You don’t even flinch. You should. You should be wary. You should immediately launch yourself into the bushes and prepare to be interrogated in some terrifying eel version of psychological warfare. But you don’t. Because you have nothing left.
So you just turn your head slowly, look at him with the dull, hollow eyes of someone who’s really going through it.
Jade looks positively delighted.
"My, my," he says, in that syrupy, knowing voice of his. "What could possibly put you in such a state?"
You inhale. Exhale. Consider your options. Death is looking really attractive.
"I don’t want to talk about it."
Jade hums, obviously entertained, but then—then—he decides to make it worse.
"You know," he muses, "even Floyd has started to get concerned."
You blink.
"…Huh?"
"Oh, yes," he says, resting his chin on his hand, enjoying every second of this. "Between the odd gifts, the unusual behavior, and your general aura of suffering, even he has begun to notice. Which means you are being particularly obvious, because he rarely pays attention to anything that isn't entertaining."
You don’t even have the energy to be embarrassed.
"What’s your point?" you mutter.
Jade smiles like a predator about to land a final, devastating strike.
"You should simply tell him. Because this…?" He gestures vaguely at your soul-deep despair. "This is rather pitiful."
You stare.
You process.
And, somewhere in the depths of your heart, you realize he’s right.
Tumblr media
You are in shambles.
Like, properly, horrifically, soul-crushingly in shambles. You’ve been through so much. You've spent weeks engaging in increasingly deranged behavior at the behest of a well-meaning yet hopelessly out-of-touch fae prince. You've endured ritual poetry readings, scent-marking disasters, and a culinary war crime that left you emotionally and financially bankrupt.
And now, standing in front of Floyd Leech—the very cause of your descent into insanity—you finally snap.
"I LIKE YOU!" you blurt, voice cracking like a cheap mirror. "I LIKE YOU AND I'VE BEEN ACTING LIKE A LUNATIC BECAUSE MALLEUS SAID I HAD TO FOLLOW FAE COURTSHIP RITUALS AND I—" your voice hiccups, borderline hysterical, "—I THINK I LOST A PIECE OF MY SOUL WHEN I TRIED TO BAKE THAT DAMN CAKE BUT IT'S FINE, BECAUSE APPARENTLY THAT'S JUST WHAT LOVE IS??? AND I DID IT ALL FOR YOU, FLOYD, BECAUSE I AM A DUMB IDIOT WHO LIKES YOU FOR SOME REASON."
You gasp for air, because this has been a lot.
And Floyd?
Floyd is laughing.
Not just a chuckle, either. No, this menace of a man is bent over, hands on his knees, actually wheezing with mirth as if you’ve just performed the comedy routine of the century. His shoulders shake. His teeth glint in the light. He looks absolutely delighted.
And you? You just stand there, a broken, hollow shell of a human being.
"You should’ve just told me, Shrimpy~!" he cackles, wiping a tear from his eye. "I like you too, y’know?"
...
There’s a moment of silence as your poor, battered brain struggles to process this information.
"WHAT."
Floyd grins, like you haven’t just endured weeks of psychological torment at the hands of a dragon prince. "I mean, you’re fun! You make me laugh, and I like squeezin’ ya. ‘Course I like ya!"
Before you can even begin to formulate a response, he lunges forward and grabs you in a hug so tight that your ribs beg for mercy. You are crushed, consumed, engulfed in the sheer force of his affection. Your spine may never recover, but at this point, what’s another injury to your dignity?
And honestly? You don’t care.
Because he likes you.
Floyd likes you back.
Which means—you realize, tears pricking your eyes in relief—you never have to perform another insane fae courtship ritual again.
No more humiliating poetry. No more dubious scent-marking. No more playing Russian roulette with your digestive system in the name of romance. You did it. You won.
And then Floyd leans down, cups your face, and kisses you.
It's a little rough, a little overwhelming, but you melt into it anyway, because Sevens, you earned this.
Somewhere in the distance, Malleus Draconia watches from the shadows.
Arms crossed, nodding sagely, he looks upon his greatest success.
"My expert techniques," he murmurs, pride swelling in his voice, "have secured my child of man their eel."
Behind him, Lilia wipes an imaginary tear.
"Beautiful," he sighs.

When one of you crumble the other is their biggest support system .

This is literally so hollywood / bollywood coded are you gonna meet in the rain omg or during rainy season , total movie vibes. Firstly they have very balancing features , all of their features compliment each other , will have really cute cheeks , if they're a man they have a dad bod . You literally manifested this person congratulations you're really powerful and I can feel it , if you haven't yet start writing about what characters you might want them . I sense some Leo energy they might have leo placements . Before you meet them or before the relationship you have to make a choice between two people , hopefully you will choose the one who makes you feel emotionally safe and it is this person , they will literally advocate and fight for you so see these qualities to understand who this person is for you . They are hardworking and i channel that they will definitely be the person who makes your children smart truly they give the smart genes and also they might be a teacher or someone who is doing PhD.
They're emotionally available but sometimes they need their own space to ground and function and maybe both of you are this way so you seek to understand each other well . They are like the moon or you compare them to the moon , if they're a girl they have moon in the 1st house in their kundli. They definitely have empress energy, also they're so so strong if a women a healer their tough their words are so healing and kind , if a man they are a healer as well hugs so comforting words so softening . They have been sacrificial all their lives so you show them how true love doesn't need sacrifice but just true understanding and they love that about you . For some of you before marriage you will be asked to sacrifice something maybe a habit of it can be anything and they're maybe conditions on love so I want you to think through before you enter this okay . There's lot of love in the relationship, understanding and divine seeking , they bring out the masculine/ feminine in you the best . Like I was telling you to think through before entering this so this card " don't dim to fit in " came through so some of you definitely have to be really careful okay , it's not for everyone but only some . For others you don't have to dim yourself or bow down to them because they will meet you where you are . Trust your path when it comes to this person , when they say they'll do things for you they will , belive in yourself .
They feel like home they feel so safe they feel so loving . You guys will be so PDA ahh. You will birth a child quite soon. Always say the truth in this relationship no matter how hard the truth might be , it's very essential to communicate and you guys will do it so well and you both are so cute because you pick up on each other's habits and it's so beautiful becayse they become a permanent part of you and you become a permanent part of them . This union is divinely guided by Sri Krishna so prayer to him to maintain and guide the relationship will be so efficient . You both will love to nap together but for some i also see you both become lazy so remember to check each other out when the other is being ignorant or lazy . For some of you either of you both have anger issues so try to heal it and live peacefully with kindness. Both of you are cutthroat people and will create a lot of abundance together . I don't want to lie so for some of you this relationship can become eventually toxic so I hope you can heal or walk away for the better . I wish you all the happiness and abundance in the world . To meet them sooner wear more pink , pray to Devi Durga or Devi Lalitha or offer pink/ red flowers to them and pray to Sri Krishna , offer him kishmish . Praying for a happy and fruitful union.

Tumblr media
As the early morning sunlight streamed through the large windows of your apartment, you stood in front of your full-length mirror, taking a deep breath as she surveyed her reflection. Today was the day—the day you would finally meet Rafe Cameron and discuss the terms of your marriage arrangement. The thought made your stomach flutter with a mix of excitement and anxiety.
Despite your bubbling personality, the pressure of the situation weighed heavily on your shoulders. You had spent the past few days steeling yourself for this moment, and now that it was finally here, the reality of it sent your heart racing.
You glanced at your closet, a vibrant array of outfits hanging neatly. You had planned to wear something that screamed “fabulous”, but time was slipping away from you. You settled on a leopard-print strapless top, pairing it with a denim mini skirt. You slipped on your favorite black heels, which added just the right amount of height and made your legs longer. You grabbed your black Prada bag, a reminder of the success you had fought so hard to achieve.
Despite your nerves, you felt a surge of excitement. This meeting was a step forward resolving your visa issues, and you were determined to make the best of it. You wanted to present yourself as confident, someone who could hold your own—especially when facing someone like Rafe Cameron.
You slipped into the back seat of your private car, offering a quick nod to your driver, Gregory. As the engine purred to life, you felt your heart pounding in your ears, each beat amplifying the weight of anticipation.
When you arrived at the law office, your gaze immediately landed on Nicolas, your lawyer. He stood up from his chair and made his way over, exchanging small talk that felt oddly comforting amid the tension. Together, you entered the meeting room, where Rafe and his lawyer were already waiting for you.
Even seated, his presence dominated the space. His broad shoulders, casual posture, and confident smirk that made him look every bit the arrogant athlete you had read about. His lawyer, Sabrina Rashid, sat beside him, a sharply dressed woman who radiated professionalism. Rafe, on the other hand, looked annoyingly relaxed in a plain white t-shirt and black jeans.
Well, this made you look overdressed… Embarrassing, but you kept your head held high.
Nicolas gestured toward the table. “Shall we?”
You slid into the chair opposite Rafe, offering a small nod to his lawyer before turning your attention to him. His blue eyes flickered over you, lingering longer than necessary. You could practically feel his ego inflate with every second.
“You’re late,” he drawled, breaking the silence. His voice was as cocky as his expression.
You arched a brow, setting your Prada bag on the table with a soft thud. “Hello to you tooand you’re lucky I showed up at all, considering your reputation.”
He smiled. “Feisty. I like that.”
And so, you cringed at his words. You rolled your eyes, refusing to take the bait. “Let’s get to the point, shall we?”
Nico cleared his throat, clearly eager to steer the conversation to business. “Yes, well, the purpose of today’s meeting is to discuss the logistics of the marriage arrangement—specifically, where you’ll be living, financial obligations, and how this will be handled publicly.”
“Publicly?” you repeated, frowning slightly. “I thought this was supposed to be discreet.”
Rafe shrugged. “I don’t do discreet, sweetheart.”
You shot him a glare. “I am not your sweetheart.”
“Not yet, but wait ‘till we’re married.”
You blinked at him, caught off guard by his audacity, but recovered. “This isn’t going to be like that. We’re not doing some fake, lovey-dovey routine for the press.”
Rafe leaned back in his chair, folding his arms over his chest. “Who said anything about love? I’m talking about looking like a normal couple, someone the media can’t tear apart every other week. It’s all about appearances, sweetheart.”
“Stop calling me sweetheart.”
“Whatever you say,” he grinned. “Plus, you gotta admit, you and I? We’d be a headline every day, sweetheart.”
“Is he serio—”
Nico stepped in before you could respond. “Alright, enough. Let’s get back on track.” He glanced at Rafe’s lawyer, who nodded and opened a folder.
“First item on the agenda: where will you two be living?” Sabrina asked, her tone professional and no-nonsense. “Given that this marriage is primary for legal purposes, we need to establish residency. For it to be legitimate, you will need to live together.”
You shot a look at Rafe, who was already smirking like he’d won some kind of silent argument. “I’m not moving in with him,” you said flatly.
“You think I’m thrilled about having a roommate? Especially one who probably spends hours in front of the mirror.”
You crossed your arms. “I do not.”
Lies.
“Oh, please. You’re a model. You probably have a different skincare for every day of the week.”
“And it’s supposed to be a bad thing because…?” You frowned. “You should take exemple. You look like you wash your face with body soap.”
Nico pinched the bridge of his nose. “Let’s focus, kids.”
Rafe’s lawyer continued, ignoring the banter. “You’ll need to appear as though you’re cohabiting. If not, immigration authorities will become suspicious, and the arrangement could fall apart.”
You narrowed your eyes at Rafe. “Where do you live, anyway?”
He learned forward, resting his elbows on the table. “I’ve got a place in SoHo. Penthouse. Nice view, great amenities. It’s got plenty of space for you to do… whatever it is models do.”
“Funny, I have my place in the Upper East Side. And I am not giving it up.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Upper East Side, huh? Posh.”
“I earned it.”
“Well, we’ll need to figure something out,” Sabrina interjected smoothly. “But you need to live together. In one place.”
Rafe looked amused. “You can have the closet space. I’m a sweet guy like that.”
“How generous,” you muttered, turning back to the lawyers. “Fine. We can do the whole ‘living in one place together’ thing. But I need time off, to stay at my place once in a while.”
Rafe winked. “Wouldn’t want to cramp your style.”
You ignored him. “What about finances? How is this going to work?”
Nico pulled out his own folder. “We’ve drafted a preliminary agreement outlining financial contributions from both parties. It’s important that this marriage appears legitimate, so we suggest pooling certain expenses—utilities, rent or mortgage payments, and shared household costs. This can be done through a joint account, which will be monitored to ensure the marriage looks genuine.”
You could feel Rafe’s eyes on you, and you shot him a look. “A joint account? I hope you’re not expecting me to pay for your post-game drinks?”
He chuckled. “Relax. I’ve got more money than you can spend in a lifetime. The joint account is just for show. But if you want to chip in for groceries, I won’t stop you.”
“Oh, how noble of you,” you replied dryly.
Nico glanced between you and Rafe, clearly trying to keep the conversation on track. “This account will cover all necessary shared expenses—bills, groceries, and any incidentals that may arise from your living arrangements. It’ll help maintain the appearance of a genuine marriage.”
Sabrina nodded in agreement. “Exactly. As for your individual assets, those will remain separate. No need to worry about your personal finances getting tangled up.”
You relaxed a little at that. “Good.”
“And what about public appearances?” Rafe asked, sounding surprisingly serious. “How often do we need to do the whole ‘happy couple’ thing?”
Nico exchanged a look with Rafe’s lawyer. “You’ll need to be seen together frequently enough to make it believable, but not so much that it seems forced. A few key events—charity galas, public outings—will suffice. It’s important that you strike a balance.”
Rafe shrugged. “I’ve got games, events, plenty of opportunities to be seen.”
You sighed. “I have shoots, fashion shows, and meetings. We’re both busy.”
“Sounds like we’ll have to schedule our love life,” he quipped, flashing you a grin that made you want to throttle at him.
You gave him a sweet smile. “Good thing it’s not real.”
He laughed, and for a second, the tension in the room eased.
Nico shuffled his papers. “There’s one more thing to discuss—media coverage. Given that Mr. Cameron is already in the spotlight, it’s important to control the narrative.”
Sabrina continued; “We’ll need to issue a carefully crafted statement once the marriage is official. Something that explains how you met, why you’re together, and addresses any potential rumors before they can spiral out of control.”
“A public statement?” You cringed at the thought.
“It’s necessary,” Nico said. “If this looks like a publicity stunt, it could raise red flags with immigration.”
Rafe leaned back in his chair, looking far too relaxed for the situation. “Don’t worry, we’ll make it believable. I’m great with the media.”
“Yeah, that’s exactly what worries me,” you muttered.
He smirked. “Come on, sweetie. We’ll be the hottest couple in New York. Think of the headlines.”
“I’d rather not,” you moved your hands dismissively.
The lawyer continued discussing the finer details of the arrangement—contract clauses, confidentiality agreements, and timelines. You zoned out for a moment, your eyes drifting back to Rafe. Despite his infuriating attitude, there was something about him. Something that made you feel like this might not be the worst decision after all.
“I hope you’re prepared for the spotlight,” he said suddenly, snapping you back to reality. “The media’s gonna eat this up.”
You arched a brow. “Please. I’ve been in the spotlight longer than you have, and with far less drama.”
He grinned. “We’ll see about that.”
You leaned forward, meeting his gaze head-on, the space between you suddenly charged. “I’m not one of your little fangirls, Rafe. You might charm the media, but you’re not charming me.”
His smirk faltered, just for a second, replaced by something darker, more intense. His gaze dipped, lingering on your exposed cleavage, heat flaring in his eyes. You felt a spark, your breath catching as your own eyes betrayed you, flickering to his lips—pink, curved, and way too tempting for your liking. The air between you thickened, crackling with an unspoken challenge, the playful banter giving way to something far more dangerous.
Rafe’s tongue flicked out to wet his lips, and for a moment, you forgot where you were, the weight of his stare pulling you in. The thought of what it would feel like to wipe that cocky grin off his face—or maybe even taste it—flickering through your mind.
But then Nico cleared his throat, shattering the moment like glass, and you quickly sat back, your heart racing as you wrenched your gaze away from Rafe’s.
“So, we have a deal?” Rafe asked, cutting through the tension.
You glanced at Nico, who gave you a subtle nod of reassurance. With a deep breath, you turned to Rafe and extended your hand. “Yes, we do.”
His hand clasped yours, warm and firm. “Looking forward to being your husband, sweetheart.”
“Looking forward to not being your wife,” you rolled your eyes, pulling your hand back. “This is purely business. Don’t get any ideas.”
“Whatever you say, wife.”
Tumblr media
The next few days passed in a blur of contracts, legal jargon, and meetings with Nico, Sabrina, and Rafe. You had signed your life away—well, not really your life, but it certainly felt like it.
You were lounging in your Upper East Side apartment, scrolling through Instagram when your phone buzzed.
Rafe Cameron.
Just seeing his name made your stomach tighten with a mix of irritation and something else you couldn’t quite place. Hesitantly, you opened the message.
Rafe: “When do you plan on moving in?”
You stared at the screen for a second before typing.
You: “I’m not even packed yet… what the hell.”
Rafe: “What you waiting for? You’re not chickening out, are you, sweetheart?”
There it was again—sweetheart. That nickname got on your nerves, but you were determined not to let him get under your skin (although he already did).
You: “Stop calling me that, and also I have a job and a life. I can’t just drop everything to move into your stinky place.”
Rafe: “I’m offering help.”
You snorted at your phone. Right, because Rafe Cameron would actually help you pack your boxes.
You: “What are you gonna do? Carry my shoes for me?”
Rafe: “If it gets you here faster, then sure. I’ll be here tomorrow.”
Your eyes widened. Was he serious? You couldn’t picture Rafe Cameron, basketball star and all-around cocky jerk, standing in your apartment, packing boxes and loading them into a truck. The mental image alone was laughable.
You: “Wait! No!”
Rafe: “Why no? You need a few more days to decide on what to pick?”
You: “Jerk.”
Rafe: ":)"
You: “And I can’t move in yet. We need to make a public appearance and get married before I start packing and do all the move-in things.”
There was a pause before his response came through.
Rafe: “Fair.”
You: “Excited to live with me, am I right?”
Rafe: “Projecting much?”
You: “You wish.”
Rafe: “Ditto, sweetheart.”
You rolled your eyes. You quickly clicked on the rolling eyes emoji as a response and threw your phone onto the couch, not wanting to keep talking to him.
Tumblr media
The next morning, you blinked your eyes open, greeted by the familiar warmth of your apartment, and for a fleeting moment, you forgot about everything. The visage, the arrangement, the pressure, the stress, immigration, Rafe Cameron—all of it felt distant, like a strange dream.
But then reality settled back in.
You groaned softly, burying your face into your pillow for a second longer before sighing and throwing off the covers. Today was yet another meeting with the lawyers, and you already were over it.
You knew marriage was a lot of papers and documents, but you truly didn’t think it was this much.
Swinging your legs over the side of the bed, you padded across the plush carpet to your closet, glancing at the outfits hanging neatly in a row. Usually, your first thought would be what designer outfit to wear today but you couldn’t muster the energy to care this morning. Today wasn’t about looking fabulous; it was about getting down to business, and you didn’t care how you looked because you’d be stuck in a room for hours with two lawyers and your future husband.
Future husband… God, how weird was it to say that about a man you didn’t even know.
Instead of focusing on it, you reached for a pair of soft gray sweatpants and a simple white tank top. You pulled a thick, cozy grey cardigan over your shoulders, its warmth a small comfort against the stress building in your mind.
As you made your way to the kitchen, your phone buzzed on the countertop, and for a moment, you thought it might be Rafe. But no, it was just a reminder from Nico about the meeting. You sighed, grabbed a cup of coffee, slipped into the backseat of your car and headed to the law office.
Tumblr media
The law office was as sleek and imposing as ever—polished wood, glass walls, and the faint scent of coffee lingering in the air. You stepped into the conference room, finding Nicolas and Sabrina already seated at the table, a stack of papers in front of them. They looked up and offered polite smiles as you entered.
“Morning,” you said, taking a seat and smoothing the sleeves of your cardigan.
“Morning, Y/N,” Nico replied, his tone friendly but businesslike. “How’re you feeling?”
You hesitated, offering a half-hearted smile. “A bit nervous and tired, I guess. But ready to get things moving.”
Nico nodded, glancing at the empty seat beside you before opening his mouth to speak, but Sabrina beat him to it.
“Hello, Ms. Y/L/N, just to let you know—Rafe won’t be joining us today.”
Your heart sank, but you tried not to show it. “Oh? Why’s that?”
“Last-minute practice session,” she explained, her tone casual. “It was unavoidable, apparently. He couldn’t get out of it.”
You nodded slowly, processing the information. It wasn’t that you were angry—just… bothered. This was an important meeting, after all. Even though this marriage was fake, it still involved a lot of big decisions. Decisions you didn’t feel comfortable making without him.
“Okay,” you said after a moment. “I guess we’ll have to catch him up later, then.”
Sabrina gave you a sympathetic look. “I’ll make sure he’s informed about everything. I know it’s frustrating, but Rafe’s schedule can be pretty unpredictable.”
“I get it,” you replied with a shrug, trying to convince yourself it wasn’t that big of a deal. “It’s just... this is important, you know? It would’ve been nice to have him here for this.”
“I understand,” Sabrina said gently. “And I’ll make sure he’s fully briefed on everything. He’s committed to this, even if it doesn’t always seem that way.”
You nodded, still feeling a bit unsettled but trying to brush it off. He was used to a chaotic schedule, and you couldn’t expect him to drop everything for every meeting. But still... you couldn’t shake the slight discomfort gnawing at you.
“Okay,” you said, trying to focus on the task at hand. “So, what’s the plan for today?”
Nico flipped through the stack of papers in front of him. “We’ve got a lot to cover. First off, the wedding itself. We need to finalize a date, and given your visa situation, we’re looking at a timeline of about three weeks.”
“Three weeks?!” you exclaimed, immediately covering your mouth with your hand. It was sooner than you’d expected, but you understood the urgency. “Sorry.”
“It’s alright,” Nico said, waving his hands. “We need to move quickly. The sooner the marriage is official, the sooner we can start the immigration process. And in the meantime, you and Rafe will need to be seen together publicly—on dates, outings, and even social media.”
You chewed the inside of your cheek, feeling a little overwhelmed. “Public appearances... right. How often are we talking?”
“Enough to make it believable,” Sabrina took over. “We don’t want to overwhelm you, but it’s important that you’re seen together frequently. A few key public outings, some posts on social media—it’ll help establish the narrative that you’re a real couple.”
You nodded. “And Rafe’s on board with all of this?”
“He is,” Sabrina reassured you. “We’ve discussed it, and he knows what’s required.”
“Okay,” you said, feeling a bit more reassured but still uneasy. The idea of staging your life for the public was daunting. It wasn’t just about attending a few events or posting pictures—it was about selling the image of a relationship that didn’t exist. And with Rafe not even here for the planning, you couldn’t help but feel a little disconnected from it all.
You smiled faintly. “It just feels... strange, doing all of this without Rafe. I mean, I know it’s a fake marriage, but it would still be nice to have him involved, you know?”
“I understand,” Sabrina said. “It’s not ideal, but Rafe’s committed to this. His schedule is unpredictable right now, but that doesn’t mean he’s not invested in making this work.”
You nodded, trying to take comfort in her words. Maybe Rafe’s absence wasn’t a sign of disinterest—maybe it was just bad timing.
Nico continued, flipping through the papers. “Let’s move on to the wedding itself. Have you given any thought to what kind of ceremony you want?”
“Honestly, I haven’t thought about it at all.”
“Alright,” Nico said, nodding.
“A small ceremony,” you echoed, thinking it over. “It… It could be nice, no? That could work—but shouldn’t Rafe have a say in this?”
“He will,” Nico assured you. “Mrs. Rashid will loop him in on everything. But for now, we need to focus on logistics. The venue, the guest list, the timeline—it’s all about making sure everything looks legitimate to immigration.”
“Okay. Let’s go with the small ceremony, then. But I’d still like Rafe’s input before we make any final decisions,” you said softly, your cheeks warming slightly.
“Of course,” both lawyers said with a smile.
The conversation shifted to the finer details—the venue, the guest list, the timing of public appearances. It felt more like planning an elaborate PR campaign than a wedding, but you tried to stay focused. Every decision was one step closer to securing your future, even if it didn’t feel real.
Tumblr media
The meeting felt like a marathon. You exhaled a long, tired sigh, your head spinning with wedding details and timelines. You couldn’t help but glance at your phone again, half-expecting a message from Rafe. But there was nothing. He was at practice, wrapped up in whatever game plan his team was working on.
You adjusted the strap of your tote bag and pulled your cardigan tighter around yourself as you headed for the door. But as you opened it, you stopped short, nearly walking straight into someone standing just outside.
“Whoa—” A familiar voice interrupted your thoughts, and you blinked up to see Rafe Cameron standing there, leaning against the doorframe, as if he had been waiting for you.
“Rafe?” you blurted out, surprise laced in your voice. You hadn’t expected him to be here, especially after Sabrina said he wouldn’t make it.
He straightened up quickly, looking just as startled as you. “Y/N… uh, hey. I—uh, I’m sorry I missed the meeting,” he stammered, his usual confident demeanor slipping for a moment. “I couldn’t miss practice…”
You stood there, momentarily frozen. It wasn’t like him to stutter—and it threw you off. “Oh… right. Yeah, no, it’s fine, don’t worry. Sabrina said you had practice,” you said, trying to brush off the awkwardness.
He shifted his weight, his hands sliding into his pockets. “Yeah, I, uh… tried to make it, but, you know… basketball.”
You nodded slowly, still surprised that he had actually shown up. “Well, the meeting’s over. Sabrina said she’ll catch you up on what we discussed.”
“Right, yeah, I’ll talk to her,” he mumbled.
“Yeah, so... goodbye?”
“Goodbye,” he said, looking down at the floor for a second before glancing back at you. There was a brief, awkward silence that stretched between the two of you. Neither of you moved, though you weren’t sure why.
Finally, Rafe cleared his throat, and his gaze flickered over your outfit. A slow smirk crept onto his face, his familiar cockiness returning. “So... what’s with the sweatpants and cardigan? Didn’t know you had it in you to dress so casually.”
You blinked at him, caught off guard by the teasing tone. “Excuse me?”
He shrugged, his smirk widening. “Just saying... it’s not exactly the runway look I was expecting from a supermodel.”
You felt a laugh bubble up in your throat before you could stop it. “You’re one to talk, Mr. I-show-up-in-a-T-shirt-to-a-business-meeting,” you shot back, your lips curving into a smile.
Rafe’s eyes lit up slightly, surprised by your reaction. It was the first time you had actually laughed at something he said, and for a moment, he just stared at you, taking in the sound. Cute, he thought to himself, the word slipping into his mind unbidden.
“At least my T-shirt was designer. This,” he flicked his gaze over your cardigan, “looks like something you stole from your grandma’s closet.”
You gasped, feigning offense. “I happen to like this cardigan, thank you very much. It’s cozy.”
He grinned. “Cozy, is it? Guess you’re preparing for the life of domestic bliss we’re about to have. How cute.”
You shook your head, fighting another smile. “Funny—like you even know the meaning of domestic bliss.”
He tilted his head, his smirk never faltering. “Who says I don’t? I could be all about the cozy life. You don’t know me.”
You arched a brow. “Really? You? In sweatpants, lounging on a couch, binge-watching Netflix?”
“I can be a homebody if I want to,” he said, shrugging, though the teasing glint in his eyes told you he wasn’t being serious. “Give me some credits, alright? I can rock sweatpants.”
“I’ll believe it when I see it.”
“Maybe you will. You’ll be living with me soon enough—” you froze slightly at that reminder, and your smile wavered. He noticed the shift and cleared his throat. “Anyway, I’ll make sure to show up to the next meeting. Promise.”
You gave him a small nod, still smiling. “You’d better.”
He nodded, and for the first time since you’d met, there was no teasing in his expression—just quiet understanding. You gave him one last look before heading down the hall, feeling the warmth of your laugh still lingering in the air between you.
And Rafe stood there watching you walk away, thinking about how cute your laugh was—and how much he wanted to hear it again.

Pt 5 of Danny is the 99th attempted clone Tim made of Kon. Danny's 7th birthday.
[Pt 4: here]
Danny has truly enjoyed his life with his new family. He still has no idea how he went from a full dead teenager dying again to a year old kryptonian clone baby, but he's not mad about it at all. He's treated like the most precious treasure here.
He's allowed to be himself in all of his "weirdness". He can use his powers freely and experiment with his gender expression without fear of being torn apart by mad scientists. All his special interests are respected and encouraged, too. And they take his physical AND mental health seriously.
It's great! He knows so many new people with a wide range of powers, and while he doesn't have access to his ghost powers at all, he still can ask about similar powers incase he starts developing them later or becomes a ghost again without anyone questioning it. He's just seen as a curious kid, and the metas in his life are happy to share.
He also knows his family would notice instantly if he died again. Uncle Duke and Uncle Jason would clock him by sight or touch alone, since they can see/sense his connection to ectoplasm, or Lazarus Pit Waters. The rest wouldn't take much longer to notice. The "Bat" portion of his family are glorified stalkers, but he can't say anything, he lived with them full time for a while, and the behaviors have rubbed off on him. The non-Bat portions of his family tease the Bat portion about it, in a fun way.
Danny used all of his childish power to get everyone to be nicer. No one wants the silent treatment from a bubbly toddler. Danny isn't sorry about the manipulation, his family is happier for it. He also teamed up with his dad to get everyone into therapy.
All that to say, he loves it here. He's loved by his new family in a way his original family never did. The difference is never more stark than on days like today. It's his birthday! He's turning 7! Sure, he's technically about 20 mentally, but he's physically and emotionally 7. His family doesn't know about his past life and think his mentally maturity is because of Tim fucking up, which makes Danny feel a little guilty, but not enough to come clean. Besides, neither he or his dad are treated poorly for Danny's weird behavior, and there hasn't been a reason to come clean.
Back to the birthday thing! Most of Danny's family are with him window shopping in one of the safer cities. He thinks it's Uncle Roy's city? Something about there being new stores Danny might like and being petty to Roy's not-dad? Danny's here for the petty. Mr. Queen seems like a douche any of the times he's seen or interacted with him.
"Hey, Danny?" Bernard calls slightly for his attention. Bernard is one of his dad's boyfriends. Yes, "one of". Danny is kind of proud the fact his dad has a healthy love life now. Tim is the definition of a disaster bisexual. It took Danny and his favourite uncles nearly a year to get Tim to realize he likes guys. But in a hilariously turn of events, Tim realized he liked Bernard before he realized he likes Kon. Danny's not sure how that happened. "Look over there. There's a cool looking skirt."
Danny looks where he's pointing and sees the coolest skirt. It's a high-low cut and mainly colourful space print with pretty black lace detailing. There's no way the one on display would fit Danny, but maybe they'd have one small enough inside?
He turns hopeful eyes to his amused dad. "Yes, we can go look. Just don't run off."
"Yay!" Danny cheers. His family starts heading towards the store's entrance when an explosion goes off nearby. He's suddenly in Bernard's arms. As the "normal" civilian, he's tasked to get Danny away from danger when things inevitably hit the fan.
When the smoke clears, he sees Ra's fucking Al Gul and a bunch of ninjas standing in front of their group. A ballsy move. Danny has overheard 2/3s the people here discussing how much they want to straight murder the guy. He's not really sure when it happened, but his family is convinced Ra's is the reason he's tied to ectoplasum. He's made no move to correct that notion, why should he? He absolutely hates the creep and doesn't hide it.
And despite Danny's clear hatred, the evil old man keeps trying to kidnap him. Danny thinks it started as a way to get back at Tim. To either scare Tim or train Danny into being his lap dog and fight his family or something. Danny's not really sure of the details of what the asshole's plan was. Whatever it was, it changed the moment he learned of Danny's connection to the "Lazarus Pit". Now he wants to turn Danny into the "perfect heir" and/or experiment on that connection. It's actually really scary. Just another reason for Danny to hate him.
"Hand over the boy." Ra's tries to intimate Bernard, who just sneers. He's a true Gothamite.
"Fuck off, Ra's!" Tim snarls, taking out 3 ninjas. Oracle will wipe any evidence of "The Waynes" fighting ninjas later, so Danny isn't too worried. Especially because the metas and least likely to be noticed sneak away and come back in their hero/vigilante costumes before any real fighting happens. They take over the fighting while the "civilians" start acting like civilians for the cameras to lighten Auntie Barbie's work load.
Cops are called because it'd be suspicious if they weren't, and the "civilians" are saved! Ooo!
Danny hugs Bernard, careful to not hug too tightly. "I hate him."
"I know, baby." Bernard rubs Danny's back.
Tim leans in close, kissing the top of Danny's head. "I'm sorry he ruined our day out, sweetheart."
Danny nods solemnly, "It's not your fault he's a creep. He needs so much help. Mentally."
Tim and Bernard chuckle. Bart zips over, dressed as a civilian again. "Hey! Why don't we head to the Tower? We can play in the gym and eat cake!"
"Power Tag?" Danny asks hopefully.
"Only if you keep your powers within reason." Tim says like he does every time Danny asks. "Within reason" means Danny and Kon aren't allowed to fly where no one can reach or lazer anyone or freeze people to the floor, Bart isn't allowed to go too fast, and no one is allowed to use too much superstrength. The amount of speed or strength changes as Danny gets older and if non-metas play. It's baby steps for him to learn combat safely. They still have a lot of with all the things they're allowed to do. Danny and Kon are allowed their flight and can freeze the floor to make people slip, Bart is allowed to vibrate himself through anything not living, and Cassie is allowed to use normal rope to lasso them.
It's even funner when Roy, with dummy arrows, and/or the different Bats join. They all twist and jump around the gym, causing effortless chaos. The game is significantly harder when the Bats join, but it's still super fun.
The things he learned during those games have saved his skin multiple times in Gotham. Powers or no powers.
"Just remember to take out your earrings. You don't want them to get caught or break." Bernard reminds him, carrying him towards a Zeta tube.
Danny gasps, "I almost forgot!"
He wiggles to be set down once they're through the zeta, a device he hates, but is used to after 4 years of using it. He takes off his dangily moon earrings and holds them out to Bernard.
"Can you hold onto them, Baba?" The term was suggested by Damian when Danny struggled to find a third distinct way to call someone dad. Tim is Dad, Kon is Pa, and Bernard is Baba. They all do their best to co-parent Danny, so he wanted them to know he appreciates all three of them for it.
"Of course," Bernard slips them into his pocket. Bernard never joins power tag, so Danny's earrings are safe with him.
"Thank you-" Danny is cut off by Kon sweeping him up in a hug and twirling them in several circles. Danny squealing in joy the whole time.
"I'm so sorry, honey!!" Kon stops his spinning and hugs Danny with enough force to break a normal kid's ribs. "That crusty moldy bisket always shows up at the worst times!"
"Is there ever a good time?" Bernard snarks, making Danny giggle.
"No, there is not!" Kon kisses Danny's forehead. Danny loves all the physical affection his parents are willing to give him. They hand it out like candy on Halloween, and it doesn't hurt like Jack and Maddie's affection did 4 of 5 times.
"Dad and Baba said we can play power tag! Do you think Dad or my Aunts or Uncles will play?" Danny vibrates in Kon's hold.
"I'm not sure about your Dad, he wasn't feeling well earlier, but I'm sure the rest will agree if you ask."
"Is Dad getting sick?" Danny asks. Tim is prone to getting sick because of his lack of spleen. He hopes his dad wasn't pretending to be fine while they were out.
"I'm not sure. We'll keep an eye on him, alright? And if we see any weird behavior, we'll make him lay down." Kon says lowly, so no one should be able to hear.
"Okay!" Danny whispers back, before wiggling out of his Pa's arms and declaring, "I'm going to ask people to play now!"
The rest of the day was fun! He got everyone, but Bernard, Tim, and Bruce, to play. It's absolute chaos. After the game, Danny opens presents. (Everyone apparently dropped their gifts off at the tower before they went out.) He now owns 5 new rocket/spaceship models, 3 tomes about the supernatural, 2 newly released books on astrophysics, a beautiful bright green dress, punny socks, a giant green ghost plushy, and the space skirt from the window! Uncle Jason apparently grabbed it after everyone was headed to the Tower. It's a little big, but it means he can wear it for longer! He puts it on over his shorts, the tail drags a little, and the shorts are the only reason it's staying up at all, but Danny loves it. He hugs everyone and thanks them with the biggest smile.
Alfred brings the nicest cake Danny has ever seen to the Tower. It's a work of art, Danny almost doesn't want to cut it. Almost. It's delicious. Alfred gave everyone permission to eat a slice before dinner.
The only problem when dinner is served is that Tim suddenly bolts for the nearest bathroom. Bernard is the only one allowed to go in, while the rest hover outside. They can hear him throw up. Everyone is really worried. After about 10 minutes, Bernard half carries an exhausted Tim out of the bathroom.
"I'm not sick." Is the first thing out of his mouth, which justifiably has people shouting in disbelief. Tim waves a calming hand at them. "No, really, I'm not sick. I was going to wait at least a few days to say something, but that plan is out the window. "
"Wait a few days-? Tim, what?" Uncle Jason has his worried angry voice out, and Danny usually hugs him when he hears it, but he's too busy staring at his dad. Something trying to click in his brain, but he's not quite sure what.
"I'm not sick or injured. I'm pregnant." The commotion is instant. It's mostly excited shouting. Danny glances at his Baba and Pa's faces. Bernard looks surprised but happy while Kon looks like he's about to pass out, a mix of fear and excitement on his face. So Danny isn't worried about them.
Danny trots up to a tired and slightly wary Tim. "I'm going to be a big brother?"
Tim slips out of Bernard's hold to kneel down to be eye level with Danny. He gives Danny a sad smile. "If all goes well, then yes. I want to keep them, but my body might try to reject them. I hope they make it. You'll be the best big brother."
Danny hugs his dad. "I hope so. I hope we get to meet them."
Kon and Bernard sit on the floor on either side of them. Excited vibes surrounding them.
"Oh!" Steph shouts, "That's why you've been asking us to cover most of your fieldwork this week! We all thought it was odd, but thought you were just planning something for Danny's birthday!"
Tim chuckles, "I was, but I was also trying to limit physical stress. This is going to be a difficult pregnancy, but I want it."
"... At least you got laid this time." Steph teases.
"Steph!!" Several people scold her about being inappropriate with "little ears" present. Danny ignores them. He instead, using flight and a touch of superstrength, pulls his Dad to his feet.
"Danny?" Tim curiously asks, but doesn't stop Danny from pulling him through the room and gently sitting him on the couch.
"What food made you throw up?"
"Danny, it's your birthday. Go have fun. You don't need to worry about me or the baby." Tim tries, but Danny is stubborn.
"It's dinnertime. Meaning the party should be ending anyways. So after dinner, we're going home and maybe watching a movie while I work on one of my new models. After that, it's bedtime." Danny sternly tells him, ignoring the rest of the family's giggles. "So what food was it?"
The rest of the day/night goes exactly how he plans. He crawls into his parents' bed for snuggles and falls asleep listening to Tim's heartbeat.
Tim is banned from field work for the entirety of his pregnancy, and he has to deal with everyone being extremely protective of him. He's only mildly annoyed by the behavior. He's more grateful for it than anything. The pregnancy is hell on him. It nearly killed him, and he almost lost the pregnancy several times, but he doesn't regret it one bit when he's holding his ridiculous blond child. So first, he had twins with heteropaternal superfecundation, but then they merged into one baby with tetragametic chimerism. Meaning this single baby is rare and odd in so many ways, but that sums up their family.
Danny is infatuated with his new sibling. Helping out and "babysitting" the baby any chance he gets. (No adult actually leaves the newborn alone with a 7 going on 8 year old. No matter how mature the almost 8 year old is.) He's determined to be the best big brother. He remembers what his Dad said when he was a baby. A Drake protects what they claim as their's viciously. And Danny plans to do just that.
Tim is so proud. Bernard and Kon are amused and exasperated when Danny wrecks anyone who is even a little mean about his sibling. They're all more scared (for him mostly) when he freezes and shatters the limbs of Ra's Al Gul whe the fucker gets too close to the baby. He's not dead, but he's not recovering from what was done.
The Joker gets a similar treatment when he shows up while Jason is babysitting Danny. Danny sees how scared Uncle Jason is of him.
He does get lectured by his grandpa, but Danny doesn't care what Bruce has to say. He also doesn't see the problem, didn't kill them. Uncle Jason gets it. He spoils the hell out of Danny

Imperfect Perfection
Synopsis: You'd love to be the emperor's wife. Everyone would. But you've got a secret that makes you very unqualified to be his wife, so you do what anyone with a secret does- you hide and try to keep to yourself. But Jinshi's not used to women keeping to themselves around him. Just how are you going to keep this secret when he starts poking around? Approximate Word Count: 3600 Tags: Angst with a happy ending?
You hadn’t been trying to catch the emperor’s attention. But you were the only one who wasn’t, and that’s what caught his attention.
As the daughter of a high ranking official, you were invited (and then forced by your parents) to attend a garden party at the palace, where the newly crowned emperor would then choose his empress and concubines from among the party guests.
Now, it wasn’t that you didn’t want his attention. In fact, he was the most gorgeous man you’d ever seen, and you were sure that everyone else was thinking the same thing. But you had certain physical limitations that made you an ill-advised choice for either his wife or his concubine so you figured there was no point in getting attached to someone you had no chance with.
With that in mind, you banished yourself to the farthest corner of the garden, with only the bees and the flowers to keep you company. When a server brought you a tray of carefully arranged delicacies, you graciously accepted, popping one into your mouth before beaming bright and stealing another. With a satisfied sigh, you turned to speak to the waiter.
“I’m sorry, I know this is rather imprudent of me, but could I perchance meet your chef? I’d like to thank them for the delicious treats.”
He blinked at you curiously.
“Oh, I apologize. You have permission to speak.”
He gave you a small smile. “Thank you, my lady. As flattering as your request is, it is generally frowned upon for the lower and higher classes to interact. Especially at such a…” He gave a wary glance at all the nobility socializing around you, “Public event.”
“Ah, I see. You’re right, forgive me, we are in a rather public space. I’ll accompany you to the kitchen then.”
His eyes widened. “The k-kitchen?”
You nodded as though it were the only acceptable conclusion.
“You mustn’t! It’s rather…chaotic at this hour, with so many guests to serve. I’m sure your ladyship won’t find the kitchen interesting in the slightest. I will convey your thanks to the chef myself, if it is of such great importance to you.”
“It’s no trouble for me. I’d really like to properly express my gratitude. And I must admit to having an ulterior motive, as I’d also like for your chef to teach my kitchen staff their recipes, so you see, we have much to discuss.” You explained.
The waiter gave another cautious glance around the garden, before finally sighing and nodding. “Alright, as you wish, my lady. I shall take you to him.”
And with that, you quietly slipped off to the kitchen with him. Though it can’t have been as quiet as you would’ve liked, because the moment the emperor laid eyes on you sneaking through the maze with a servant boy, he was instantly intrigued. Did someone dare to have an affair with his own staff right under his nose, at his own engagement party? What kind of woman were you exactly? Excusing himself, he followed carefully behind.
When you arrived at the kitchen and the emperor realized you’d snuck out of his lavish party just to convey your thanks to his chef, he was touched. And he couldn’t help but be drawn to the ways your eyes lit up when you discussed potential new recipes for the chef to try, or the way your brows furrowed as you wondered aloud if certain ingredients would mix together well or not, or the way you emphatically pleaded with the chef to impart his knowledge to your own kitchen staff like you’d melt and die if he didn’t.
He stifled a laugh and then, realizing his own actions, wondered what on earth he was hiding his presence for. This was his palace, after all. He stepped out of the shadows, clearing his throat. “You know, the royal palace doesn’t hire just anybody. Of course my staff is well accomplished.”
Heat rushed to your cheeks when you heard his voice behind you and you turned to him, burying your chin deep into your chest as you bowed lower than you’d ever bowed in your entire life. “Your highness! I apologize; I didn’t see you there. Forgive me.”
The kitchen staff followed, bowing low and humbly.
He gestured for them to rise up. “There’s no need for that. I thank you for taking such great care of my party guest.”
They nodded and made their quick departure, leaving just you and the emperor all alone. Great.
“Well…I suppose I’ll be on my way as well. I’m sure you have more important people to see. Good day, your highness.” You gave him another respectful bow before turning away.
“Not so fast.”
You froze, nerves trembling within your veins. “Y-yes, your h-highness?”
Now he had to laugh aloud. “You speak so comfortably with mere kitchen staff and yet you find it difficult to speak to me?”
“With all due respect, your majesty, it is more difficult to speak to you. You require more care when speaking.” You admitted, though unsure why.
“Why? I’m just another man, same as them.”
You raised a brow at that. Man or not, emperor or not, he was being rather dense. “You are not ‘just a man’. You are this kingdom’s ruler. One does not speak to the emperor the way they would a friend.”
“So I’m not the emperor then. Not today. Today, I’m just a friend. So talk to me.”
This guy was going to give you a heart attack for real. You honestly couldn’t tell if he was baiting you into being improper only to reprimand you, or if he genuinely wanted something as simple as true conversation. But, as you gazed into his eyes, you thought you glimpsed a hint of loneliness behind them. Like maybe he never asked to be emperor. Like maybe he never asked to be so far above his peers that no one dared to hold a conversation with him.
So, completely forgetting your original intention of avoiding him, you decided to humor him. You talked with him. The two of you wandered the palace grounds, talking about anything and everything under the sun. And you talked for so long that they sent out a search party for him.
You stifled a laugh as he pulled you deeper into the maze. “Are we supposed to be hiding from your guards? And at your own party?” You whispered.
He grinned. “It’s my party, I can do what I want. Shh, they’re coming this way.” He slipped his hand over your mouth before yanking you behind a hedge.
Once the guards had passed by, he removed his hand. “You okay?”
“Yeah, you?”
“No, I don’t want this to end.”
You laughed. “Well, we do have to go back eventually. Or they’ll think I kidnapped you.”
“That’s a great idea; you should kidnap me.” He teased, nudging you with his arm.
You snorted. “And be beheaded? No, thank you.”
“Who’s going to behead you? I’m the emperor, after all; what I say goes and under no circumstances is any harm to befall you.” His eyes gleamed, true and sincere.
You smiled at him. You couldn’t help it. Somehow, in the span of a few hours, you’d become dear to him. It was obvious in the way he looked at you, the way he walked with you, the way he talked with you, the way he didn’t want to stop talking to you. You didn’t want to admit that he’d also become dear to you, so you opted instead for a witty rebuttal.
“Oh, is that right? You weren’t saying that when you were convincing me to climb a palace wall with you ‘for the view’ and I almost fell off of said wall. Which made the view less impressive, by the way. It’s hard to get a good look when you’re falling through the air.”
He laughed lightheartedly. “But did you fall? No, because I caught you. So, as I said, I won’t allow any harm to come to you.”
“Oh, my hero.” You pressed your hands to your chest dramatically, to which he gave an exaggerated (yet entertained) scoff. You wanted to laugh at his theatrics as you were sure he wanted to laugh at yours. But you knew it was getting time for the fun to reach its end. “We should really get back. They’ll become suspicious that we’ve disappeared together.”
“And what suspicions could they surmise from our time together?” His voice was light and amused- clear evidence that he was still in the mood for games.
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe that you’ve chosen to make me your empress or something.”
“And what if I have?” His teasing tone vanished in an instant.
Your heart stuttered in your chest. “Don’t jest- I’d be a ridiculous choice. Besides, it’s rude to neglect your other party guests and then refuse to even consider them for the position. We can’t have the emperor scorning all of his high ranking guests; it would be chaos at best.”
“So I’ll make an appearance. Apologize for my behavior. Flash a smile here, a wink there. All will be well.”
You rolled your eyes, amusement dancing on your curved lips. “And, once again, you’re beloved by everyone. The end.”
“Beloved by everyone except one.”
“One? Who would dare?” You teased.
“You.”
You almost coughed up your heart, but you refused to let your emotions guide your reaction. “That’s untrue. I’m quite fond of you. Kind of like a pet.” You opted instead for humor, once again, your default armor of choice.
His eyes narrowed. “A…pet? Would a…’pet’ do this?” In an instant, he had you pinned up against the column of the gazebo, lips meeting yours in a sudden burst of heat.
You wanted to drown in his kiss. You’d spent so long resisting his dazzling eyes and his charming smile, but when it came to his intoxicating lips? You didn’t stand a chance. You kissed him back, against your better judgement, and when he felt you give in to him, his smirk curled against your lips.
“So, I’ll see you tonight then? After I’m done playing the role of the responsible king?” He grinned unabashedly and it nearly made your chest cave in.
“Tonight? What’s tonight?” You murmured breathlessly, still drunk on the taste of him.
“Tonight, it’s just us. No bothersome party guests within sight. I’ll come to your room.”
You wanted to tell him no. To tell him that this was all moving too quickly. To tell him that he was wasting his energy on you. To tell him that you couldn’t be his. But all you could stutter out was, “T-tonight…” and he took it as your agreement. He kissed you once more and then disappeared into the maze, returning to his party shortly after.
Upon your delayed return to the party -having waited a few minutes after he had left so as not to arouse suspicion anymore than you already had- you feigned ill and retired to your chambers. You wanted to leave. To go for a walk, far, far away, and have that walk cure you of these unnecessary and unwanted feelings. You wanted to be anywhere but here, where he said he’d meet you. But your traitorous feet only allowed you enough energy to pace your room before finally giving up and collapsing on the bed, waiting for his return, longing for his return.
You stared at the ceiling as you waited.
He couldn’t possibly pick you to be his empress, could he? He must have been joking, right? How were you going to tell him the real reason why you couldn’t be his wife? Why you shouldn’t be his wife. How were you going to let him down easy?
You bit down on your lip until it hurt. But…then again, would it really be so bad to be his concubine? To let him coax you into bed? To pretend you could be something to him every time he held you, to ignore the way you felt when he’d leave in the morning, attend to another concubine’s needs? You shook your head, discouraging the idea and jolting you back to reality.
He would come tonight, looking for your love, and you’d simply say you had none to give him. You’d deny the thundering in your heart and you’d tell him why it could never work between the two of you and then he’d be disappointed but ultimately he’d understand that you were a poor choice to begin with and then you’d return to your home town and act as if you never had such pounding in your chest to begin with. You’d forget him and he’d forget you. Or, more likely, he’d forget you, and you’d spend the rest of your life trying to explain away the aching in every fiber of your being. But that was how it should be. You thought you had already made peace with the fact that you’d never be anyone’s wife; it shouldn’t have pained you so much not to be his in particular. You were getting greedy, getting selfish. You wouldn’t wish your companionship on any man desiring a family, not now that you knew what you knew about yourself. And you certainly wouldn’t wish it on him, someone you’d genuinely begun to care about (and someone you would have to train yourself to forget you ever cared about).
So before he even knocked on the door, having heard his footsteps in the hall (and having been embarrassed that you’d already memorized the sound), you ushered him inside your room, and closed the door before anyone could spot the two of you together. And before his excitement at your supposed eagerness could take hold of him, you made sure to express your denial of his advances as plainly as you could.
“I don’t understand. So you…agreed to let me come to your room, you yank me into your room once I arrive, and now you say you don’t want me?” His brows furrowed, hurt and confusion clear as day across his face.
“I didn’t say I don’t want you. I said we can’t be together.” You attempted to soften the blow but it pained you to even say the words.
Surprisingly, your response worked wonders on him. His tension eased immediately upon hearing your words. “So you do want me.”
Your eyes widened, panic shooting through your veins. “That’s not what I-”
“I know. But it’s what you feel, right? So whatever is making you think we can’t be together, I’ll figure it out.” His voice was confident, reassured. There was no hint of arrogance or exaggeration in sight. He was simply speaking the truth; he would clear a path for you to be by his side, no matter what it took. And that only made you want to be by his side more.
But you couldn’t.
“Jinshi, you don’t underst-”
“Zuigetsu. You can call me by my real name.”
Your words froze in your throat. No one called the emperor by his real name. No one would dare. You half expected your head to be sent flying just at the thought of calling him by his real name.
“There’s no way that I-”
“Please. I’ve never heard anyone say my name.”
Well, crap. You couldn’t deny him when he pleaded. You almost couldn’t deny him anything. And you didn’t want to. You wanted to be the woman he swept off her feet. You wanted to be the woman by his side. “Zui….Zuigetsu.” You murmured weakly.
His complexion brightened immediately, eyes brimming with joy. “It sounds so much more perfect than I thought it would.” His thumb ran across your lips, eliciting a shiver from you. There was no lust in his actions, only pure, unadulterated happiness, and it was the kind of happiness you could get lost in.
So, throwing your better judgement out the window once again, you indulged him. You lost yourself in him, lost hours to his welcome company.
You’d assumed he’d wanted to enter your bedchambers for superficial purposes, for more primal purposes, and you probably would’ve entertained his fantasies until reality took hold of you again. But he simply wanted a more private environment to continue his earlier conversation with you, asking more of your likes and dislikes, begging you to repeat an earlier story he’d found entertaining, telling you stories of his own, until you were laughing so hard he had to slip a hand over your mouth to avoid drawing unwelcome attention, grinning as he did so.
So the night came and went, and you played pretend to your heart’s satisfaction. And then the morning came and you regretted your actions once more.
You couldn’t keep doing this. Not to him. Not to yourself. It would only make leaving even harder. No, today would be the day when you’d tell him the truth. The dreaded truth. The devastating truth.
So you sent a messenger to his room with gifts you’d brought from your hometown and you invited him to join you for conversation, one last time.
“Spoiling me already?” He plopped down beside you, all giddy and glowing.
“I thought you might like the treats. Since you were telling me you’d never tried them before.” What were you doing? You were supposed to just spit out the truth and here you were, small talking him.
“I very much enjoyed them, but I think I’d enjoy them more with you, so I saved some to have with our tea.” He smiled, sincerity practically dripping from his lips, as he offered you the tray you’d previously sent to his room.
“I’m afraid I can’t stay for tea.”
“Oh, I see. You’re doing the thing where you push me away again, claiming that we’re not meant to be. I told you; I’ll take care of everything. Do you not trust me?” For such a serious conversation, his tone was relaxed, like he was already assured of your feelings. You cursed your own carelessness for allowing your feelings to surface so plain for him to see.
“It’s not that-”
“Then what is it?”
He was going to be the death of you. But you may as well dig the grave yourself, if your relationship was already within the Grim Reaper’s grasp. “I can’t have children.” There. You’d said it. Your awful secret had finally come to light.
You could tell he was not expecting that, because his features had frozen in place, his breath trapped within his lungs. Maybe he was expecting you to have a scorned past lover, maybe he was expecting you to merely be insecure about inheriting the title of empress. Whatever he’d been expecting, it can’t have been nearly as bad as the dreadful truth.
The truth that you yourself had not yet made peace with. You’d cried yourself to sleep the day the doctor told you and you cried almost every night since then. You’d always dreamed of marrying for love (as rare as it was during these times) and starting a family with your loved one. And now those dreams were nothing more than a relic of the past. The past belonging to a happier you. To a healthier you. To the ideal version of yourself. To the version of yourself you wish you could present to him right now. But you couldn’t change your reality, much like you couldn’t change your DNA. Your fate had already been signed, sealed, and delivered to you, and all that was left was to accept it.
“Okay.”
Time stuttered to a stop. “W-what did you say?”
“I said, okay. I told you, no matter what it is, I’ll figure it out.”
You sighed, exasperation seeping into your voice, “This isn’t something you can just figure out. I physically cannot have children. Do you understand what that means? It means you won’t be able to carry on the royal line with me. It means you’re better off with someone else.”
“I didn’t say I’d fix it. I said I’d figure it out. And I’ve already figured out that I want to spend the rest of my life with you, who cares if we can’t have kids? Marry me.”
Your stomach tangled in a knot. “I can’t marry you. I’m not right for you. Besides being physically limited, I’m also extremely selfish. I won’t want to share you with another concubine.”
“So don’t share then. Marry me.”
“You don’t understand. You would be giving up the idea of children altogether. That’s a difficult decision to make; I wouldn’t make it so lightly.”
“You’re the one who doesn’t understand. I don’t make this decision lightly; I make it with all the love I have in my heart because I love and want you, and only you. So marry me.”
In that moment, you burst into tears. You knew you shouldn’t be bawling like this in front of the emperor; your parents would’ve been ashamed. But you couldn’t help yourself any longer. All those nights, attempting to comfort yourself when no one else could. All those days, wishing for your imperfections to simply disappear. And here he was, offering to love you through it all. He didn’t see someone in need of fixing, he simply saw you and wanted you. And he didn't see you as an imperfection, he saw you as perfect for him.
And if you couldn’t give him children, you made up your mind that you’d damn well give him every ounce of love that you had to give, and every day of the rest of your life.
