On one hand, Young Justice is kind of neglected by the actual superheroes that should be looking out for them in a lot of crucial ways and very much failed by the adults around them
But on the other hand Red Tornado straight up hosts a parent-teacher conference where their respective legal guardians all show up, barring Batman who’s in traffic so Nightwing fills in instead because Robin’s dad does not know he’s a vigilante which is objectively hilarious
Publishing has always been a fucking nightmare, but now it’s a layer of hell. It’s not enough that writers be good at what they do. Writers have to maintain an active social media presence and cultivate a following. Be available.
They have to be conventionally attractive enough to look good enough to see on a screen, aesthetically pleasing, kind, funny, up-to-date on trends, socially aware but not so controversial that they turn off a brand from California from slapping their discount code on a video promoting a book.
They have to do all of this with no media training, with little help from the companies that are supposed to be doing this for them.
Of course, a lot of this isn't possible for say, the 40-something mother of two who teaches English at a school and writes on the side. She’s boxed out of an already complex industry that already has enough walls.
On some level, I think authors have always marketed themselves a little, but we’ve reached such a crazy point where we’re demanding the author become the influencer. Accessibility in publishing has narrowed from an inch to a sliver. And that inch was hard enough to get in as is.
Video by the Catalan recipe blog lasofregida on Instagram. The song is "No fer tant" by Guillem Roma.
In autumn, it's very popular to eat soups like this. Here I'm calling this a soup because it's what it's called in English, but in Catalan we usually make a difference between a soup / sopa (broth with things in it, usually pasta and can also have vegetables and sometimes some meat) and what we see in this video which we'd call a cream / crema. A "cream" is made of vegetables and is made into a homogeneous creamy liquid.
In this case, La Sofregida is making one of the most common "creams" for autumn: squash "cream".
I'll add her recipe under the cut.
Squash cream (crema de carbassa):
Ingredients:
Squash
Leek
Scallion
Water
A sprinkle of olive oil
Salt
You can also add carrots or a potato and some cheese that melts easily, and mix it all in like the other ingredients.
Preparation:
Place the vegetables in a pan and add a sprinkle of olive oil and salt, then slightly stir-fry the vegetables to bring out the taste.
Add water to boil them for 30-40 minutes more or less, until the vegetables are cooked.
Mix it all with a blender to make a homogenous soup, and serve!
When you serve it, you can add a bit of Iberian ham or bacon on top. Enjoy!
I am absolutely overthinking fun fandom stuff again but I think what's so important to me about radiostatic is the reconcilliation part. like whether or not it makes sense, I have such a serious emotional need to see two people try to kill each other and be able to recover and become friends again anyway.
spending a bunch of time with someone I have a very complicated relationship with recently has brought up a lot of feelings, and I just. want there to be some hope I guess? it's too painful to think about reconciling with this person in real life, but it's so comforting to think the pain might go away for someone.
something I really want to write about is the feeling of betrayal when you're both very close to and also hate someone; every time they make you laugh or you share something you love with them, every time you enjoy their company, it's like you're betraying the version of yourself that hated them so much. how can someone who's hurt you so badly share a face with someone you so desperately want to make happy?
I actually have gotten over it with some people (that I hated less intensely). honestly, I think it just came down to us becoming different people (a little amnesia helped too lol); still us, but matured enough to apologize and not hurt each other again. it felt too good to be true at first, but sometimes you just need some time apart to become the right people for each other.
I want that for alastor and vox. I want them to come to their own realizations that they want to change, then meet with they have that willingness. I think that would lend itself to a fun (terrible) dynamic where they both want to make the relationship better but are worried the other person isn't. I want them to waste a lot of time testing each other and anticipating betrayal before they're both so fucking sick of it that they jump into the deep end together. I want what they interpret as a honeymoon phase when they first try making up to just be what their relationship will become when they finally communicate. I want them to spend time together and enjoy it and realize they miss each other so much that they're forced to admit they'd do anything to be friends again. I want them to make each other so happy that they're glad they're in hell for eternity because it means eternity together.
The fact that Angela provided an answer so good that everyone immediately knew it was right + Amanda didn't even know it was the right answer but chose it anyway is already great. But this whole round is made even better by the fact that Angela, WITH IT AS HER ANSWER, keeps emphasizing how baffling Amanda's inexplicable deep seated hatred for Vanessa Lachey is and how this is something that's just. Known. between them.
Like we already knew they failed to watch the Love Is Blind Reunion together bc of how much Amanda hates Vanessa Lachey so Angela's descriptions and her baffled "i just. have never seen amanda hate anyone." "she's not that bad" "SHE IS" speaks so much to the conversations they've clearly already had about this exact subject. And its funny as hell.
I knew people use cayenne pepper to season food and drank the "master cleanse" with the herb in it, but I often forget that cayenne pepper helps with circulation and apparently it can help stop bleeding! Who knew! I only knew of raw honey being safe to put on cuts but now we've got another one!
never lay down in bed right after eating. don't think about staying on your phone for nearly two hours in that position. don't sleep either. acid reflux is real and i hate that guy
i think it's time we start retaliating when people online post about their excessive spending. yes even if it's your fave youtuber pookie meowmeow could-do-nothing-wrong. we should start letting people know we HATE and DO NOT TOLERATE people who buy 4 cars, people who live in mansions, people who do 3 giant unnecessary hauls a month, people who buy 6 entire luggages of merch in a week. stop sitting uncomfortably, TELL THEM. unsub. stop interacting with their content. Eat the rich is not just a cool phrase to have on your bio or a pin or your jacket. it's an ACTION
Alex & Henry ● It was important for Henry to be the grab-and-kiss-er in this scenario, Lopez says, because “there’s something very striking about a character such as Henry, who has spent up to that point in the film being very buttoned down and seemingly in control of his urges in that moment, losing the ability to control his urges and give into the desire to kiss Alex.”.
