So my roommate is also into One Piece. I’m not sure if he’s watched any of the anime, I know for sure he’s watched the live action, but earlier tonight he came upstairs and watched a few episodes with me while waiting for a food delivery, and then he got hooked, and then he sat and watched MORE episodes with me without really knowing what was going on. But it was still wildly entertaining to him, esp since I’m right in the middle of one of the (arguably) best arcs rn, and now he wants to finish the arc with me LOL. NOBODY is immune to One Piece propaganda. Or Bon-chan 🥰

I met people I knew only online for the first time irl last night and I'm still extremely exhausted cause I am not a social person so here. Take an OC.

Katale (Kitty) is wonderful and I love her and she's a criminal and that's fine. She likes to look cute and so whenever I see a really cute outfit in public with a specific vibe, I'm like "Kitty would love that". So here. Please. Please know that I saw this very pretty woman jogging with her hair pulled back, running shorts, and the CUTEST top with a little scarf from the same fabric tied and wow. It was. So wonderful, please have a wonderful day @ the lady I saw jogging yesterday.

My bitching and overall disinterest in JJK aside, I do think it's nice that a series with such a big emphasis on individualism being the way to succeed in a culture that's so focused on collectivism is kinda heartwarming. Like ever since I started teaching I've found that it's been a surprising influence on some of the kids here

A lot of my students who love JJK are also kids who "stand out" a bit from norms, esp the otakus. But they don't have any shame about intensely loving smth or being teased or viewed as weird by others. A lot of Japanese kids struggle with shame for standing out and seeing so many young kids and teens refuse to make themselves fit in to smth they don't want to be makes me really happy. So JJK will always have a special albeit weird spot in my heart for how it's helped a lot of young readers embrace being an individual in a collectivist country that typically hammers out any traits that make you stand out too much.

Even if it personally isn't my thing and if it's not the first series to have big themes of individuality, I do appreciate how much it's inspired some of its readers.

it's so funny to think back of how so many people thought it was dumb that murders would happen over a doll in watanagashi/meakashi when as ever shion has been simmering for a long time and it's just the straw that broke the camel's back. yasu is the same. they said she murdered everyone because she just wanted a prince on a pony. "she just didn't want to study" we're in a time loop now. they're all just catalysts that people use to invalidate their victimhood.

satoko, shion and yasu are extremely similar in that they're all victims of abuse who interpret their complex trauma through the lens of their feelings for a specific person (rika, satoshi, battler).

oh absolutely! both him and bobby help out. and i think jaiden doesn’t really treat it like a big deal when the topic is first brought up, because she’s just really amicable and friendly, and roier’s slightly taken aback because it sounds really personal right? like he’d had the assumption it was this really big deal, that avians were super cagey about that stuff, but jaiden didn’t seem to make it a huge deal, so he doesn’t, either.

it takes him a bit to realize she doesn’t seem to let anyone else near her wings (except for slimecicle), and that the server’s other two avians (phil and q) are just as cagey as he expected her to be. he doesn’t understand why jaiden makes it seem to casual when it’s clearly a very important thing, but he feels very honored that she trusts him with it :]

Cat's back at the ER because while he stopped throwing up, he was still lethargic and disinterested in everything and just not acting like himself. X-rays confirmed he's got some kind of intestinal obstruction but didn't show what the obstruction was.

We think he ate thread, but there's not much that can be done until it's confirmed via either seeing it on imaging or seeing certain very specific signs associated with that particular kind of obstruction, which is hell on earth because long body obstructions are some of the most dangerous ones an animal can get BUT trying to remove something that may not even be there, well, that shit is dangerous on an already stressed body, so it's not a gamble anyone wants to take for very good reason, so it's all just a waiting game until whatever it is shows up more clearly, passes on its own, or gets worse.
