Whumptober 2022 Day 13: Dislocation
Characters: Stephen Strange, America Chavez, Wong
Summary: Stephen was quite adept at dealing with his own pain and suffering, but watching his loved ones hurt was an entirely different story
"America, you have to blast it or you'll die!" Stephen shouted, pressing himself against the wall for cover. America cowered under a table and held the relic close to her chest.
"I can't do it! I can't!" America shouted back, yet still charged up the wand like Stephen had shown her how to do.
"I'm coming to get you! You have to shoot it!"
"I can't!" America whimpered. A hand grabbed her foot and started to pull her out from under the table. She wiggled her way out of the man's grasp and dove for the floor, letting a flurry of spells fly in her wake. There was the sound of something clattering to the floor and hurried footsteps.
"America!" Stephen hissed, checking the skull for damage. He let out a relieved sigh when he found no fractures and placed the skull back on the mantlepiece. "Do you know how ancient that skull is? How much power it has? Apparently not considering how recklessly you almost broke it! Always look where you're shooting!" He instructed.
Somewhere behind him America groaned. "Fine. Training is done for today if you're really gonna complain about it that mu- oh crap!" Wand long forgotten, America still lay on the floor while clutching her shoulder. Her eyes were tightly squeezed in pain. Stephen dropped to her side so quickly he was sure his knees were going to be bruised tomorrow. "How much does it hurt?" He asked while trying to pry her hand away from her shoulder.
"Lots," she said shortly. Stephen went into his so-called 'doctor mode' almost instantly. "I hit it when I fell. I can't move it."
Stephen clicked his tongue and confirmed after a moment, "yea, you dislocated your shoulder. Easy fix, though. Alright, America. I'm going to need you to sit up straight." She did so with a wince. Stephen carefully placed her hand on his shoulder and got in position to reduce the dislocation. America jerked back and yelped. He was quick to comfort, "hey, hey, I've done this a hundred times. It doesn't hurt, I promise. I'm just going to massage the joint back into place, ok? That's it." She looked at him fearfully but didn't jerk away again when he repositioned himself.
He laid the hand of her injured shoulder on his and rested one arm over hers to provide a gentle weight. He used the other hand to rub small circles from the top of her shoulder to the bottom. He did this for about two minutes, noting how America grew more relaxed as they went, "try to stretch your arm across your chest, now." America hesitated but did as he asked, only wincing slightly. "Feel better?"
She nodded, "yea. Just kinda sore now."
Stephen copied the motion, "it'll probably be sore for a few hours. Good thing we have both pain meds and ice cream in the kitchen." America smiled at that. "But first we need to get you fit for a sling and some ice," he amended.
———————
"What happened? Why do you look like a kicked puppy?" Wong asked. America and Stephen were watching a movie on the couch, with the former having fallen asleep against the other.
Stephen shifted slightly so he wouldn't disturb her to look at Wong. He whispered, "she got hurt during training so we stopped for ice cream and a movie."
Wong hummed in acknowledgment, "that doesn't explain why you look so devastated."
"I was kinda the reason she got hurt. I don't know why I had her training with relics when she can travel the multiverse at a whim, but…" he chuckled ruefully, "she jerked away and hurt herself even more 'cause she was afraid of me, Wong." Stephen shook his head in self-deprecation.
"She doesn't look very afraid of you right now," Wong pointed out. Stephen glanced over at the teen snuggled into his side and snoring softly. He couldn't help the small smile that crept up on his face, but it immediately dissipated the moment he saw the sling. "It was a small injury, Stephen. Stop beating yourself up about it."
Stephen shook his head, "But what about next time? Will she lose a leg because of my mistake? Her powers? Her life?" He took a shaky breath, "I can't be the reason someone else dies. I can't."
Wong sighed and sat down next to Stephen quietly. He threw an arm around his saddened friend and pulled him into a brief yet warm hug. "You don't have to look so surprised," Wong joked at Stephen's expression, "I am capable of showing affection to a friend who obviously needs it."
Stephen's gaze shifted to the floor, "yea. I guess so."
"I didn't want to be Sorcerer Supreme, you know," Wong said after a long silence. "Everyone told me I'd be great at it. So eventually I relented and took the position. I still have my doubts about if that was a good decision or not. My worst fear was leading my people to their deaths. It kept me up at night, I couldn't stand the thought of being the reason people I care about dying because of my mistakes." He took a deep breath, "and then my fears came into fruition, or should I say, Wanda came. Wiped out about half of our Order. A second decimation, if you will. Except they weren't coming back this time."
Stephen was shocked to see such emotion on the others man's face as he continued his story, "they were tortured right in front of me, Stephen. They were slowly being killed because I wasn't making a decision fast enough for her. It was ultimately my decision that led to America's capture and almost led to her death. I told you to kill her, and you disobeyed me." Wong looked him in the eye, "but I'm grateful for it. It plagues me; the 'what ifs' and 'should haves'. What could I have done different? I didn't ask these people to follow me, yet they still do. They know I'm not perfect, but they still chose me. They trust me, and that's what keeps me going."
"That kid sleeping against you trusts you more than anyone in the multiverse whether you like it or not," Wong said. "And there's nothing you can do to change it. Try to cherish her love. Let that love be what keeps you going, Stephen, and accept the fact you love her, too. Otherwise, you wouldn't be so scared to lose her."
Stephen blinked away tears and laughed, "we all need therapy." Wong's somber expression gave way to a half smile. "Thank you."
Wong stole a pint of ice cream and opened a portal, "anytime."
He chuckled and felt America wake slightly at the sound. She nuzzled sleepily into his side and he felt an intense, paternal protectiveness flare up inside of him. His smile quivered as he ruffled her hair softly, "come on, kid. You need to go to bed."
America huffed but extracted herself from his side. She blinked wearily at him. "You okay?" She asked quietly.
Stephen felt tears well up in his eyes, "yea. Yea, I'm fine. How's your shoulder?"
She yawned and rubbed at her eyes, "better. I'm gonna go get ready for bed now."
He watched her shuffle off the couch and pad over to her bedroom, "good night, kid." Love you.
"G'night, Stephen."

Contains Multiverse of madness spoilers!!
Summary
He shook his head no, but his eyes were still focused on scanning her. She was about to suggest they go to a hospital to check his head when he asked worryingly “Are you okay?”
Or, Even if neither of them is willing to admit it, they very much care for the other.
[This has somehow turned into a one-shot book :D ]

i think marvel’s biggest issue is that they keep pandering towards the older / original generation instead of trying to reel in newer generations.
like hey marvel?
most of that fanbase is old and completely outdated, like god PLEASE try to encourage NEWER fans to get involved instead of trying to keep the old ones at bay.
they’ve had their fun, and if they don’t like the recent works you put out? let them go
i can tell you with absolute certainty that majority of the current fanbase are young, probably like 15 to early 20s, and mostly all of us are queer! shocking, i know
it would be super fucking great if, not only getting to hear, but being able to see queer representation on our screens!
and no, i do not mean the passing side character who only gets five minutes of screen time kind of rep.
there are so many already canonically queer characters in the comics and yet we do not get to see a lick of that in the movie / tv adaptations.
stop trying to please the old folk. (they’re already on their way to the nursing home as we speak)
pay attention to this newer generation. pan towards this audience. stop ignoring us (and the actual characters but anyway)

Second first impressions
A/N: This fic is a special request for @moonkowkow ! They requested me to bring an underrated character in the spotlight, and I was very intrigued to do so! This is my first time writing for America! I hope you enjoy!
Summary: When America unexpectedly stumbles into the nice version of Wanda, she has a difficult time accepting that Wanda may not be the monster America thinks she is
Warnings: angst, some light swearing and fluff
Word count: 4492
Tumblr media
It was fair to say that, while her day had started as usual, things had not gone the way she had expected them to go.
It had been over a year since the events with Scarlet Witch, Dr. Strange and Wong, and a lot had happened in her life since then. For about a year she had stayed with Wong, to practice and gain better control over her powers. However, the longer she had stayed in that one universe, the more guilt she had, since it meant postponing the search for her mothers. After many nights of pondering what to do, she had finally decided to continue her journey to find them. For the past two or three months she had traveled from dimension to dimension until she had lost count, and she was no step closer to locating them. So, she had decided that it was time to take a break. Next universe she ended up in - unless it was really bad or comparable to the paint one - would be the one where she took a pit stop, even if it was only for a few days. However, when she had stepped through the portal this morning, she’d immediately noticed that something was different.
She had ended up inside of a building, instead of outdoors, which was odd compared to all the other times she had appeared into a new dimension. America could tell that it was a pretty tall building, by the amazing view from the large windows. She stood next to a large couch, looking at a currently turned on television as she took in her surroundings.
“Wait, I can teleport into buildings now? That would have been good to know three weeks ago,” America mumbled, putting her hands on her hips.
“Uhm-”
“What the fuck just happened?”
The teen jumped as she suddenly heard voices from behind her, immediately turning around with her hands up. A surprised Wanda and Natasha stared at the ‘intruder’, who had interrupted their afternoon of cuddles and movies by opening a portal in front of them.
“Oh! I’m so sorry, I usually don’t end up inside a building! I’ll leave right awa-” America said rapidly, before suddenly freezing as she noticed Wanda. Letting out a sharp gasp of panic, the teen stumbled over her own feet and fell down hard, crawling backwards to create as much distance as possible between her and the couch. Natasha stared at her in utter confusion as Wanda stood up, a frown covering her face.
“Are you okay? What happen-”
“Get away! Get away from me right now!” America nearly yelled while pointing a finger at Wanda, leaving the witch stunned. Natasha immediately jumped up and stood between them, looking as confused as Wanda. While she had no idea who this girl was or where she came from, the redhead could tell that there was genuine fear in her eyes. She could also tell that the girl didn’t come here to harm or kill either of them.
“Please! Get away from me! I won’t hold back this time!” Anger and fear were both present in America’s voice, and both women could tell she was serious. Natasha and Wanda shared a look, to which Wanda nodded before leaving the room. Natasha watched Wanda leave before turning her attention back to the teen. She slowly knelt by her side, holding her hands up.
“Hey… you’re okay, nothing is going to happen to you, okay?” She said, looking America in the eyes. “So you can relax, okay?”
“She… I… I-,” The brunette said, too shaken up to give a proper explanation. The assassin realized this, stood up and reached out her hand while giving her a gentle smile.
“Come on, let’s sit on the couch for a little. I can tell that you’re scared and you have questions, and I can assure you that I have questions of my own as well,” She added, raising an eyebrow at the girl. “But there’s nothing to be scared of here,” Natasha promised. America looked at the hand for a few seconds, before accepting it. So now, she was currently sitting on the couch, covered in a blanket while staring at Natasha. While she was still a little shaken, the teen was much calmer compared to ten minutes ago. Natasha had made her a hot choco, which had helped calm down her nerves quite a bit.
“Are you feeling a little better?” The assassin asked as she sat across from America, far enough to give her some space yet close enough to make her feel at ease. She was just a kid, Natasha realized, after having a good look at the teen.
“Yeah… yeah I’m okay now,” America said after a few deep breaths, looking at the unfamiliar yet comforting face of Natasha while putting the empty mug on the coffee table. The older woman smiled at her, patiently looking at the brunette. America knew that she expected an explanation, yet she was kind enough not to force it out of her. But how could she even begin to explain the situation she was in?
“Why don’t you start from the beginning,” Natasha suggested, as if she could read minds, sitting cross-legged with her hands in her lap. “Telling me who you are would be a good first step,” She added with a chuckle. America nodded and took another deep breath.
“Okay so… my name is America Chavez,” She said slowly, earning a nod from the widow. “And I have the power to travel through the multiverse,” She added, causing Natasha to blink. Not exactly what she had expected to hear.
“Uh…” She started, yet was quickly interrupted by America, who seemed very intent on continuing to explain.
“I know what it sounds like!” America immediately said, looking at the redhead with an almost pleading expression. “But it’s the truth! It basically means I get to travel from one universe to another! It used to be really hard because at first I did it by accident, but now that I kno-” She rambled, only to be interrupted by Natasha this time, who raised a hand.
“Hang on. Rewind. You travel from universe to universe… meaning there’s multiple?” Natasha asked carefully, earning a nod and a smile from the teen.
“Yeah! Honestly, I’ve lost count at this point, but I’m pretty sure I’ve traveled to over a hundred by now, maybe even a hundred and fifty. Every universe is unique and has its differences and changes, some more than others. This one seems pretty close to the universe I ended up in a year ago, and I really liked that one,” She said with a smile.
“Why are you traveling across the multiverse?” Natasha asked with a puzzled expression, immediately getting to the point. This caused America’s smile to falter as she stared down at the couch, looking almost ashamed.
“I’m looking for my mothers… like I said, the first few times I opened portals it was by accident, and I opened one behind them, sending them to another universe…” She said, swallowing hard. It never got easier to talk about it. Natasha couldn’t help but feel sad for the girl, not sure what to do to comfort her. However, before she could do anything, the teen slapped both palms hard on her thighs, pulling herself out of the sad spiral.
“I’m not giving up. I don’t know where they ended up, or if they’re still alive, but I won’t give up. I’m gonna find them,” America concluded, nodding to herself as she smiled, and Natasha couldn’t help but admire her a little bit.
“Alright… so now for the big question,” Natasha said, making America look up at her. “Why are you so afraid of Wanda?” She asked. The teen immediately froze at the mention of the name, breathing deeply through her nose before looking up at Natasha.
“Remember when I mentioned the universe I ended up in a year ago? I met Wanda there, or at least, the ‘Wanda’ of that universe. She desperately wanted my powers, and tried to kill me for it. She followed me across multiple universes, and she almost succeeded, so yeah… it was a shock to see her face again,” America said with a sheepish smile. This caused the assassin to frown.
“I’m sorry you had to go through all of that, especially since you’re still pretty young,” Natasha said, feeling horrified at the thought of Wanda killing an innocent child. People always feared Wanda for her powers and called her a monster, while Wanda was actually one of the kindest people around. To think there was a universe where those claims actually were true.
“I mean, I get that Wanda would do anything for her children, especially since she lost her robot husband… I mean, I’m willing to do a lot to find my mothers, but-” She rambled on, yet stopped at Natasha’s confused expression.
“Wanda has children? With Vision??” Natasha questioned, both eyebrows raised. The confused expression created some hopeful feelings within America. Could this Wanda be different?
“You mean to tell me that… this Wanda doesn’t have children?” She asked carefully, earning a chuckle from Natasha, who shook her head.
“No she doesn’t. Well, sometimes she claims that Yelena and Kate are her children, but not real children no,” Natasha explained. America nodded, biting on her lower lip. Yelena and Kate. If she remembered correctly, the ‘other Wanda’ had called her children Billy and Tommy. The fact that there was no mention of them here made her feel slightly more at ease.
“So… this Wanda, your Wanda… she’s not going to try and steal my powers?” America asked just as carefully, her heart jumping up as Natasha shook her head.
“If you want, I can go get her and you can ask her that question yourself. I’m pretty sure she’s dying to know why you’re terrified of her,” The redhead suggested with a smile. When America once more chewed on her lower lip, looking very uncertain, Natasha scooted a bit closer to her. “And if you want, I can stay here in the room with you. Make sure she won’t try anything, even though I can assure you she won’t.” She added.
“Okay… okay yeah, if you stay here then I’d like to talk to her,” The brunette said after a few seconds of doubt, nodding to herself. Worst case, she had kicked Wanda’s butt once before, she could do it again, right?
Natasha reached out to place a hand on the teen’s leg before getting up from the couch, exiting the common room to get Wanda. Every second seemed like an hour, and America felt more and more nervous. What if it was a trap? Was she making a mistake? However, before the teen could do anything, Natasha returned to the living room with Wanda, and America froze. Her breath stopped in her throat as she eyed the woman, who seemed just as nervous as she was.
“Wanda, this is America,” Natasha said slowly, eyeing the two women carefully. “She would like to talk to you,” She continued, sitting herself down on the couch. America remained frozen as she stared at Wanda, who slowly walked over.
“May I sit here?” She asked, looking at America with a smile while pointing at the spot next to her. The teen swallowed and nodded, trying her best not to back away. She seemed much nicer than the other Wanda, but she knew from experience that the Scarlet Witch was a talented liar. Wanda sat herself down, staring at her hands for a moment, before looking at America with a curious expression.
“I can sense that you’re afraid of me, and while I don’t know who you are, I want to apologize for anything I may have done wrong to you,” Wanda said, and for some reason, America knew she meant it. She closely inspected Wanda’s face, looking for traces of deception, and when she found none the brunette relaxed just a little.
“You… you truly don’t know who I am?” America asked, raising a brow nervously yet curiously. Wanda slowly shook her head, slightly tilting it while inspecting the young girl’s face.
“This is the first time I’ve seen you, when you stepped through that portal in front of the television,” She explained, before suddenly frowning. “Did I do something to your family? I know I hurt a lot of innocent people over the past years while I tried to gain control over my powers, but-” She said, yet stopped talking when America shook her head quickly.
“No no, it’s nothing like that! It’s… actually, it’s much more complicated than that, and I don’t even know where to start,” The teen said with an empty chuckle.
“Why don’t you tell her what you told me?” Natasha said from behind her, giving America an encouraging nod as she looked at the redhead.
“Alright, well… this is gonna sound crazy, but it’s the truth, I promise,” She said, earning a nod from Wanda. The brunette took a deep breath, before finally looking Wanda in the eyes.
“My… my name is America Chavez, and I come from another dimension. I originally started traveling through dimensions because I’m looking for my mothers, but… a year ago, I did it to escape from you,” She said, carefully watching Wanda’s reaction, as she was still scared of the Scarlet Witch. Whatever Wanda had expected to hear, this wasn’t on her list as she looked at the teen with a shocked expression.
“Wait, what do you mean multiple dimensions? And you were running away from me? But how is that possible, I’ve never seen you before, or left this… dimension?” Wanda asked, as confused as Natasha had been. This gave the brunette the boost of confidence she needed to continue talking.
“I wasn’t running from ‘you’ you,” America said, holding her hands up. “There are many dimensions, and the Wanda from that dimension… well she wanted to kill me, to gain my abilities and travel across the multiverse herself,” She added, letting out a deep breath as her hands were slightly shaking from emotions. “So while I’ve never met the ‘you’ from this universe, your face still scared me…”
“But that makes no sense… why would she… why would I want to kill you? Why would I do that to you?” The witch asked with a deep frown on her face, looking horrified at the thought.
“You needed my powers to travel to the dimension where your children were still alive, and you were desperate,” America explained, and Wanda’s expression went blank.
“My what? Children?” She asked, once again looking just as confused as Natasha with the mention of the kids. Natasha looked up at Wanda with a smile, one eyebrow raised.
“Apparently, in that other dimension at least, you were married to Vision, and you had children with him,” Natasha explained, seemingly having a hard time not to burst into laughter. The confused expression turned into another blank stare as Wanda looked at the two of them for a few seconds, and America couldn’t help but mentally prepare herself for an attack. Then the exact opposite happened, as Wanda started laughing out loud.
“Me? Married to Vision?? And having kids with him? Oh man… I thought I was messed up, but I guess I can’t compare to the other ‘me’,” She chuckled, shaking her head slightly. While America hadn’t expected this reaction, she surely welcomed it as she already felt more at ease now. A small yet real smile formed on her face for the first time.
“So… you’re not going to try and kill me to steal my powers and go to the universe where you have children?” The teen asked in one long sentence, holding her breath as she looked at the witch, who shook her head with another chuckle.
“No! I have no intention of doing anything like that, I promise,” She assured, holding out her open hand towards America. The brunette leaned back out of reflex, yet quickly relaxed and reached out to grab it. “I mean, I did feel a connection with Vision, but I never felt romantic love for him. I was sad when he died, but it was the same kind of sadness for all our other friends we had lost in that fight,” Wanda said with a sad smile. America nodded, not really knowing what to say so she gently squeezed the witch’s hand.
“Well… you do seem a lot nicer than the other Wanda I met,” America concluded with a smile, no longer scared to look Wanda in the eyes. “I guess I was less afraid of you, and more of your magic,” She added. Wanda’s expression softened as she looked at the young girl, once again opening her hand. This time, however, two of her red wisps appeared.
“My magic can be very scary, that’s true,” She agreed, making the wisps float towards America. “But they can also be very gentle and kind,” She added with a smile. The little sparks of magic reached the teen and brushed against her cheek and neck, making her giggle in surprise as they caressed her skin. The wisps felt nothing like the other Wanda’s magic, they were pleasantly warm and gentle, they even tickled! She scrunched up her shoulders and giggled loudly, both at the sensations and relief as she now truly felt safe. Wanda looked at the scene in front of her with a wide smile, a playful idea forming in her mind. While only knowing her for a little while, she wanted to make America feel truly safe around her. And what better way than to make her laugh?
“Can I hug you?” Wanda suddenly asked, making the brunette look up in surprise. There was a split second of doubt in her eyes, before she finally nodded with a smile. Wanda wasted no time as she pulled her closer into a tight and comfortable hug. America let out another giggle, a stupidly wide smile spreading on her face. She had never expected this Wanda to actually like her, and it filled her stomach with butterflies of happiness. Her back now facing Wanda, the teen looked up at Natasha, who was sitting across from them. The redhead winked at her, and it was exactly what America needed to fully relax in Wanda’s arms.
“Thank you, for… this,” America said, a blush creeping on her cheeks. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been hugged like this, and I never expected you to be kind... sorry for thinking you were a monster in every universe,” She added.
“Well, you know…” Wanda started, not even trying to hide the mischievous tone in her voice. “There have been several moments where the people I love called me a ‘monster’, but for an entirely different reason than the one you’re thinking of,” She said with a smirk. America, who instantly felt nervous again, looked over her shoulder at the witch.
“What do you mean?” The brunette asked, not sure where Wanda was going with this. A nervous tingle filled her stomach as she noticed the wide smirk. She looked back at Natasha for an explanation, slightly calming down when the assassin, who obviously knew Wanda wasn’t going to do anything bad, winked at her. When she tried to shift in the hug, America immediately noticed that she couldn’t move either of her arms, which were being held next to her sides by red magic.
“Let me ask you one simple question,” The witch said, leaning closer to the young girl’s ear. “Are you ticklish?” Wanda asked, her smirk growing even wider. America could hear the teasing undertone, and couldn’t suppress a shiver going down her spine. The panic she had felt in the last ten seconds was quickly replaced by nervousness and… joy? It had been years, but she still remembered what it was like to be tickled. She recalled her mothers slowly closing in on her, a similar smirk spread on both their faces while America’s stomach filled with butterflies of anticipation. Those butterflies had once again returned.
“What? No, of course not!” America said, a little too fast for her liking. Wanda grinned at the small note of panic in America’s voice. They both knew she was lying.
“Oh really now? Are you sure?” Wanda almost purred, causing another shiver to roll down America’s back, the hairs on the back of her neck slowly raising as giggles started to build up inside of her. Oh no.
“Y-yes?” She said, this time barely able to hold back a laugh as she shot another glance at Natasha, who was smirking just as widely with an eyebrow raised. She tugged at her arms, yet her attempts were futile as she was utterly stuck in Wanda’s hug.
“... Wrong answer,” The witch cooed, wasting no time in making the young girl laugh. America let out a shriek when she felt sharp nails scribble up and down her sides, immediately jolting up in Wanda’s lap. With her arms trapped in place next to her, she had no chance to either try and stop those hands, or move away. She threw her head back against Wanda’s shoulder, helpless giggles filling the room.
“N-nohohohoho! No wait! I take it baahahahahahhack! I’m ticklihihihish!” The brunette giggled loudly, clenching her fists while kicking her legs on the couch. Wanda chuckled and shook her head, gently shaking her nails into America’s ribs, earning another loud shriek.
“Too late, you decided to lie to me, so now you’ll have to deal with the consequences,” She teased, keeping her tickles light and gentle since she didn’t want to overwhelm her. When she prodded a single finger between her ribs, America arched her back and closed her eyes shut.
“NO! No pleeheheheEHEHEHEASE!” She cried out, unable to deal with the sensations at all. Wanda slipped her hands under her shirt to tickle her bare sides and stomach, and America dissolved into hysterical giggles and snorts. “NOT THEHEHEHEHHERE!”
“Not there? What about here then?” Wanda grinned, moving away from her sides only to scribble her nails into America’s helpless underarms. The latter let out a scream of laughter, now shaking her head side to side. The witch chuckled and continued tickling under her arms for another while, before pulling back to give her a break.
“You’re definitely ticklish,” Wanda teased, releasing America from the invisible hold. “And your snorts are cute,” She added with a wink. The brunette groaned and crawled away from Wanda, shooting her a playful glare while hugging her own sides. Natasha had been watching the two of them with a fond smile, glad that the ‘misunderstanding’ between them had been cleared. And while she didn’t have a direct reason to help America in her current situation, she definitely felt the need to show the teen just how non-scary Wanda actually was.
“Oh Wanda, don’t pretend you’re not just as ticklish, if not more,” Natasha said teasingly, slowly standing up from her spot on the couch to walk over to the witch. They both looked up at the assassin in surprise, Wanda’s expression quickly shifting from a surprised one into a nervous one.
“Natasha, whatever you’re thinking about doing, don’t!” She said, yet before she could jump off the couch to escape, Natasha had already straddled and pinned her.
“Don’t worry, kid, Wanda is the least dangerous person in the room right now,” Natasha said to America with a smirk, her fingers immediately going for Wanda’s ribs. America looked in amazement as the ‘Scarlet Witch’ burst into loud laughter, immediately reaching for the redhead’s wrists to try and stop her. A smile spread on the teen’s face as she watched the two women wrestle around, quickly getting up from the couch to get out of range.
“Wait, why isn’t she using her powers to win? Isn’t she the Scarlet Witch in this universe too?” America asked Natasha, who was currently hands-deep into Wanda’s underarms.
“When my poor baby witch is being tickled, she can’t concentrate enough to use her powers,” Natasha chuckled, turning to Wanda with a teasing smirk. “Can you now? You can’t do anything to stop me right now, can you?” Natasha grinned mischievously.
“NATASHAAHAHAHAHHA! STOHOHOHOP TIHIHICKLING MEHEHEHEHE!” Wanda pleaded, her laughter increasing both from the teasing tone and the fact that Natasha had moved her hands down to her hips.
“That’s what I thought,” The assassin smirked, keeping her friend pinned down easily. “Now, are you going to be nice to our guest? Play fair and not bully her with your magic?” She questioned with a playful smirk, drilling both of her thumbs into the dip of Wanda’s hips. The witch absolutely lost it.
“YEHEHEHES! NOW PLEHEHEASE STAHAHAHAHAHP!” She pleaded, tapping one hand on the couch as she gave up on the hopeless fight. Natasha chuckled and ceased her tickle attack, releasing Wanda from her hold. Sitting down next to her friend, the redhead shifted her attention back to America.
“So what are you going to do now? Are you going to keep traveling?” Natasha asked, making America chew on her lower lip. She had dreaded this question, because even if she had only met them, the brunette liked Natasha and Wanda. Well, this version of them, at least.
“I… I don’t know,” America said truthfully, sitting herself down on the couch again. “I mean, I want to find my mothers, but I have no clue where to look. And if I just keep hopping from universe to universe, I might miss clues on where they are,” The teen sighed. Natasha and Wanda looked at each other, having a silent conversation with their eyes before looking back at America.
“Well… you don’t have to, but we wouldn’t mind if you stayed as our guest here,” Wanda suggested with a smile. “There are many people living in this building, and Tony is too rich for his own good. We could throw it in the group and see what the others think about it, but I don’t think anyone would mind you staying here for a while,” She concluded, giving America a wink.
“Plus, if we have free time, we could help you look for those clues, find out if your mothers could be staying in our universe. The choice is yours, however. If you want to keep traveling, we’re not stopping you,” Natasha said, raising one eyebrow at the young girl. America looked at the couch for a moment, before looking at them with a shy smile.
“I like this universe better than most I’ve ended up in, and I have nowhere to go so… I would like to stay?” She said, making it sound more like a question than a statement. The two women looked at each other with a smirk, before once again looking back at the brunette with a smile.
“Well then, welcome to the Avengers, Ms. Chavez,”

Ten fandoms, ten characters
Tagged by the incredible, amazing @tuiyla!
It was so incredibly hard to limit this to a top ten lmfao, but I guess I eventually managed it 😂 Priority was given to characters who made a huge impact on my life, then next to characters who gave me immense Blorbo Feels at the time and whom I still remember fondly, with one or two currently giving me brain worms at the moment.
In alphabetical order:
Antigone Funn (Wooden Overcoats)
Bak Sun (Sense8)
Byleth Eisner (Fire Emblem)
Carmilla Karnstein (Carmilla)
Cousland (Dragon Age)
Fatin Jadmani (The Wilds)
Kanaya Maryam (Homestuck)
Renee Montoya (DC Comics, specifically Greg Rucka's run)
Santana Lopez (Glee)
Shepard (Mass Effect)
Tagging @hopefulobjectmiracle, @wherenightmaresroost, @orangepeels89, @dorothycampbell, @fruitybishop, @becauseforoncethisisme, @santinacedes, and @calpernia-for-archon because I'm super interested to see your ten characters if you're up for it! (But no pressure lmao).
And anyone else who wants to do it, feel free :D

I've noticed how a few people consider you as a father figure, Stephen. How do you feel about that? Do you consider anyone your child figure? (Besides America, Peter and his friends. I think it's pretty clear you keep em under your wing)
I do keep them under my wing, but I don't think I'm a father to them. A parental figure...maybe. I will be honest- I don't know how to feel about it. It's not something I planned, it's not something I intended to do, but these kids need mystic help and it would be very shit of me to neglect that, specially because I'm one of the few people who can help since I'm a sorcerer.

“We remember so you don’t forget.”
Like, whew, hearing this line in the context of America choosing to step on the memory pad so she can relive what’s ultimately a painful memory but is probably the clearest one she has of her mothers is so heartbreaking.
She was young when they were separated and it makes sense that she’s starting to lose some of her earliest memories and maybe even finds herself unable to remember small details about them: the color of their eyes, the sound of their laughter, the differences in their hugs.
So she takes the opportunity to see them clearly, their visages and voices right in front of her instead of conjured up in her remaining memories. But the sharpest and most readily available memory is also the one where she lost them, an accident she blames herself for.
She gets the chance to strengthen her remembrance of her mothers, only to never forget how she lost them in the first place.

Whumptober 2022 Day 17: Reluctant Caretaker
Characters: Stephen Strange, America Chavez
Summary: He'd grown to like having America around
America Strange was eighteen now, hardly the girl Stephen had saved from an interdimensional octopus. For one, she had more confidence in her abilities, regarding both her star portals and Eldrich magic. She had made friends with fellow teens and young adults living at Kamar-Taj. It wasn't uncommon for America to ask, "Stephen, can insert name spend the night?" "Hey, so and so and I are gonna go shopping. Do you need anything?" He cherished the fact America was getting to be a normal teen despite her… rough childhood, but he would admit to no one that he found himself lonely without her by his side.
It wasn't long before America managed to convince Stephen to adopt a puppy she'd found discarded along some old Halloween decorations. "We should call him Bats!" She suggested, gesturing to the bat decorations he was found in. The two were practically inseparable, much like Stephen and the Cloak.
It's funny. Stephen had told Christine years ago that he didn't want kids. He told her that he didn't like them, and yet they all seemed to love him. He quickly found himself as the 'Community Dad,' according to America's friends and Wong. He once heard one of the kids say, "Mer, your dad is here," and his stomach did a weird flip. Though, he found he didn't mind.
Sure, they've had their arguments just like any other, dare he say, parent and child. When her sixteenth birthday rolled around, she saw her other friends getting their driver's licenses and wanted in on the fun. It wasn't a surprise to anyone that knew him when Stephen reacted quite extremely, expressing his opinion on cars readily and fiercely.
"You can teleport halfway across the planet! What use would a car be!"
"Yea, but they have convertibles!"
"The answer is still no, America. End of discussion."
"Why can't you be excited and happy for me like all the other dads? Oh wait, that's cause you're not my dad!"
The two definitely didn't have a normal father-daughter relationship, but then again, how could you when you had math homework in New York at six and then were facing a demon in Japan at seven? Alongside their normal day-to-day routine, the search for America's mothers continued. Honestly, Stephen had given up hope of finding her parents, not that he'd ever tell her that. They continued their search, with Stephen only giving a half-heart effort. It'd been fourteen-something years! What were the odds of finding them?
Stephen 'one in fourteen million' Strange should've known better than to doubt the odds.
America grabbed Stephen's arm in a tight grip as the portal formed. The other side was packed with people, seemingly a marketplace of some sort. "Do you think they're here?" America asked hopefully.
"I don't know, kid," Stephen replied. The people on the other side started staring at the portal in shock. Most ran away, yet two women rushed to investigate.
"Mis madres!" America exclaimed tearfully and released Stephen's arm to sprint toward the portal. The two women, America's mothers, took his girl into their arms happily, placing kisses on her forehead and speaking fondly in words he couldn't understand. They cried together and hugged each other for what felt like hours. Stephen stood outside the portal patiently, not wanting to intrude but also growing suspiciously jealous. One of her mothers pointed somewhere in the distance, and America nodded gleefully.
Stephen felt his heart drop and shatter when the portal began to close. "Ameri-" he began, practically pouncing at the portal, but he was too late. The portal snapped shut with a sense of finality. He stared dumbfounded at the place his girl had once stood. Surely she would be back, right? Introduce him to her moms. She wouldn't be gone long, though he didn't like having her out of his sight.
A few hours turned into a full day. "Time," Stephen muttered to himself, "she just needs time."
One day turned into three. America's friends were asking him where she went.
Three turned into four. Wong commented on his lack of sleep. How could he, though? He was worried about her! That's what dads did, right? Worry for their daughters.
Four days turned into eight. Stephen began to wonder if she was ever coming back.
Eight turned into fourteen. Two weeks… she'd been gone two weeks. Bats started to whine at him, obviously missing her as much as he did. "She's gone!" He shouted at the dog. "And she's not coming back!" The dog wound around his legs and jumped into his lap as Stephen began to sob.
Two weeks soon saw three. Stephen hated himself for ever agreeing to help her. She was his kid, now. Who taught her how to ride a bike? Who showed her the best way to make pancakes? Who did she go to when she needed a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on? Her moms? No. It was him! For Vishanti's sake, even his Defender variant had been the one to teach her how to shave and deal with period cramps! Didn't he have a right to know how she was doing? Not stuck on the other side of the multiverse with no way to see her?
On month three, he realized he could see her. Even if Wanda had destroyed the Darkhold, he could still visualize it perfectly thanks to his photographic memory. He knew he would corrupt himself further by dream walking yet again, but for his girl… worth it.
He didn't know which was worse. The assumption that something terrible had happened, hence why she hadn't come back to him, or the fact she was perfectly content. He saw her working on anatomy homework, something he'd always helped her with, while her moms made dinner. She was safe, far safer than battling demons every other day. She had car keys in her jacket pocket. Overall, she looked happy.
Overcome with heartache and betrayal, his connection broke and he woke up in his own body. His fingertips were now lightly tinted black at the tips.
Suddenly, he understood precisely why Wanda was so insistent. He was America's father, and it took everything in him not to remind her of that.
He now wore gloves to cover his hands. Wong accused him of obsession. Stephen thought of it as protection. He was her Guardian Angel, so to speak.
Her fallen angel watched from across the multiverse as America Chavez celebrated her twenty-first birthday.

A Strange Christmas Carol
My Christmas fic is complete just in time for Christmas Eve!
Thank you to everyone that has supported me. I wish you a happy holidays and a great new year!! ❤️
Summary:
A retelling of the classic A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
Stephen Strange is visited by three ghosts that teach him the value of teamwork and self-preservation, all while finding the joy in Christmas again.
~~~
Excerpt::
“Who are you?” Stephen asked, his voice echoing throughout the white empty space.
“Ebenezer Scrooge,” the little man responded.
Stephen arched a brow. “Like the fairy tale?”
The man- Ebenezer Scrooge- rolled his eyes. “It's not a fairy tale if it truly happened!”
“Yeah? Then prove it!” Stephen looked at the man, awaiting an answer. There was no way this man was the same as the character in the Charles Dickens classic. But then again, stranger things had happened.
"I need your help." Strange's voice cut through the silence.
"Stephen? What are you doing here? What happened?" you asked worriedly.
"It's about Wanda."
"Wanda? We haven't been a couple for over a week now. Why do you want to talk about her right now? After everything that's happened?"
"You remember the Westview anomaly, don't you?"
"How could I not remember Stephen? It was the reason Wanda and I broke up, so I'm going to ask you one more time," you said, waving your hands and activating a spell. "What are you doing here?"
"Wanda has found a book, the Darkhold." "It is an extremely powerful book,filled with dark spells, that will give its user everything they desire."
"Let me guess: Wanda has its power and is using it to try to get her children back,right?"
"That's right, Y/N; how do you know?" asked Strange.
"I know her, Stephen." "I was with her for almost 2 years; I know how she thinks," you said with a sad tone, clenching your fist and disabling the spell you had ready.
Stephen walked over and rested his hand on your shoulder.
"I need you to help me stop her from doing more harm to other people." "She has destroyed Kamar-Taj in her stampede."
"I guess she's looking for something there."
"That's right.She's looking for America Chavez, a girl capable of traveling across universes, and Wanda craves those powers to get her children back."
"I'll help you," you said,your voice marked with determination. "I can't let Wanda hurt anyone else."
"Thank you, Y/N." Prepare whatever you think is necessary to meet with her and Wong and devise a plan.
You nodded and went into the cabin you lived in to prepare your things.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You must be America Chavez." "Wong has told me about you," you said, offering your hand to her.
"I assume you are Y/N. Wong has told me about you, former sorceress of Kamar-Taj and former lover of Wanda Maximoff."
"That's right."
"Hello, Y/N, welcome back to Kamar-Taj," said Wong tensely.
"Wong," you replied in the same manner, "long time no see, huh?" "Now you are the sorcerer supreme; congratulations," you said.
"Mhm, thanks, Y/N. I hope things are not tense between us after what happened in Kamar-Taj. I just wanted to..."
You cut him off by raising a hand.
"I'm not spiteful,Wong,that's water under the bridge. Now we have more important things to attend to:Wanda and the Darkhold. Do you know where she's hiding?"
"We think she's in Wundagore." "We'll need your help to get there safely, plus your magic and affinity with Wanda will be able to help us."
"Wanda and I are no longer anything, Wong," you snapped. "We stopped being when she became obsessed with power. I'll help you because it's the right thing to do,but I don't want you to mention Wanda in front of me." You said walking out of there.
You walked a little bit around Kamar-Taj, the place that had been your home not so long ago, and sat down on one of the ledges there, letting your feet dangle in the air.
"At what point did everything get so screwed up?" You thought sadly, "It wasn't that long ago I was dating Wanda, and now I'm keeping her from destroying the universe. Before,everything was simpler," you said,allowing your mind to wander through the memories.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Y/N,this is Wanda Maximoff, a new member of the team. We rescued her after the battle with Ultron,which cost her brother his life. Now she's a little lost; please try to help her," said Steve.
"Sure, Cap," you said, looking at her, "Welcome to the Avengers."
Wanda simply nodded, her eyes full of sadness and grief.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Did you really do that?" Wanda laughed.
"At the time, it seemed like a good idea," you defended yourself. "I knew my powers were still a little clumsy, but it was the first thing that came to mind."
"I'm sure the Chitauri were terrified to see an army of 3-foot-long rabbits approaching them."
You groaned and turned your attention back to the pot, which was steaming.
"If you keep this up, I'll leave you without trying my amazing pasta recipe."
"Oh no, terrible punishment! Please don't!" said Wanda teasingly.
"You're a meanie," you said, hitting her head with the wooden spoon.
"Ouch!" complained Wanda, rubbing her head.
"That's what happens when you mess with my amazing pasta." "Try it," you said, holding the spoon up to her mouth.
Wanda did, and she let out a hum.
"Tastes good."
"Well, that's too bad, because I'm not giving you anything for messing with my amazing recipe."
"Now you're the one being a meanie."
"I'll give you pasta if you give me a kiss."
Wanda walked over to you and grabbed your jaw, causing you to look down and blush slightly.
"No problem," she said, giving you a kiss on the cheek. "Now give me some pasta, please," she asked with puppy-dog eyes.
"How can I say no when you ask me like this?" you said, smiling.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was 3:00 a.m. when you heard an insistent knock on your door.
You groaned, got out of bed, and went to open the door.
In front of you stood Wanda, her eyes puffy and watery, her lip trembling slightly, and signs of distress on her face.
"Wanda?  "What happened to you?"
"I-I-I-I had a nightmare," she said, breaking into tears again.
"I'm so sorry," you said sadly. "Come here." You opened your arms for Wanda to hug you,which she did without hesitation,crying against your chest. "I'm so sorry, Wands," you said, stroking her hair. "Do you want to sleep here today?" you offered.
Wanda nodded and sniffled her nose,coming over and crawling into your bed. You followed her immediately.
Wanda lay down on your chest, and you slipped your arms around her waist, grabbing her hand and tracing circles on it to reassure her.
"You want to tell me what it was about?"
"It was about my brother." "I watched him die over and over again, and I couldn't do anything about it," she said, turning to face you.
"I'm so sorry, Wands," you said, hugging her tightly. "Don't worry, I promise that as long as I'm here, nothing bad will happen to you," you said, joining your forehead with hers.
"You promise?" said Wanda in a broken voice.
"I promise," you replied, intertwining your pinky with hers. "Pinky promise."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You were in your room, enjoying the comfortable silence.
You were stretched out on the bed with Wanda's head resting on your lap, and your hands were occasionally scratching her scalp, making her sigh contentedly.
While Wanda seemed extremely relaxed, your mind was racing with a thousand thoughts all at once, all of which were focused on one person: Wanda.
Your little crush on her was growing more and more each day, and you had been planning for several days how to tell her how you felt, waiting for the right opportunity, and it seemed that day had arrived.
"Wanda?"
"Yes?"
"Uh, I have a confession to make," you said, sitting up in bed.
Wanda turned to look at you, resting her head in the palm of her hands.
"I like you a lot; would you like...?"
"Yes," Wanda's voice cut you off before you finished speaking, "I would like to be your girlfriend."
"How did you know? I hadn't finished talking yet."
Wanda put her hand to her forehead and tapped it a couple of times.
A blush began to cover your face.
"You already knew? This makes my confession a little more embarrassing; surely you've known for a long time," you said, blushing even more.
"You are incredibly cute, Y/N," said Wanda, straddling your lap. "I've known that for a few days now,your thoughts can get pretty loud,detka."
"Well,at least you know," you said, cupping Wanda's head and kissing her deeply. "I love you, Wanda."
"I love you too, detka" said Wanda, kissing you with the same intensity.
You leaned back on the bed and continued kissing Wanda,who responded to you with the same, if not more, intensity.
Your hands moved up and down her hips, caressing the soft skin.
Wanda took off her shirt and tossed it carelessly into the corner of the room, continuing to kiss you.
"Do you like what you see?" said Wanda teasingly.
"You're fucking beautiful," you replied, pulling her body closer to yours and depositing kisses on her neck,making her moan slightly.
"I love you, Y/N,with all my heart."
"I love you too, Wanda."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"You were thinking about her, weren't you?" The voice of America cut off your thoughts.
"Yes," you replied, "There are times when I can't help thinking about her. We spent almost two years together; that's something you don't forget."
"I understand" said America, sitting down next to you. "I'm sorry it's come to this and that you have to fight her because she wants my powers."
"Hey,take it easy,it's not your fault," you said, grabbing her hand and rubbing your thumb gently against her palm. "Wanda has gone too far,and even if it hurts, I have to stop her".
"We're ready." You were interrupted by Strange's voice. "We have prepared some basic protection spells in case Wanda or another creature attacks again. Wong is waiting for us at the entrance."
You nodded and stood up, offering your hand to America.
"Let's go."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This was not the Wanda you remembered; if you had been told it was someone else, you would have believed it, except for the little details on her face that indicated it was Wanda, your Wanda.
"Please, Wanda, you have to stop this," you said, tears welling up in your eyes.
"No one is going to stop me, Y/N, not even you. I've been reasonable long enough; it's time for me to stop being reasonable," Wanda replied, launching a blast of her powers that hit a column, causing fragments to fall on top of Wong and Strange.
Quickly, casting a spell, you made the stones turn to foam rubber, causing them to fall harmlessly on top of them.
"Good one," said Strange.
You nodded and continued to cast spells, trying to destabilize Wanda to slow her down, but they were dismissed without complications for her.
Wanda approached America with a crazed look in her eyes, but before she reached her, you casted a spell on her, causing Wanda to fall to the ground from the surprise of the blow.
"Get behind me and prepare a portal," you said to America, resting your hand on her chest and making her walk a few steps backwards.
Wanda quickly got up and sent some creatures at you, but you reduced them, while Strange and Wong cast spells at Wanda, but the attempts were useless.
"It's not working," said Wong, sweat covering his forehead.
"I have a plan," you said. "I'll hold her off, and you guys will leave. Wanda and I were a couple after all; she may not attack me with the intention of killing me."
"Are you sure?" asked Strange.
"Yes, go now that you can."
"If you need a home, Kamar-Taj will be there for you," said Wong with a certain sadness in his eyes. "I'm sorry for what happened between us."
You nodded as you looked at America,who was trying to create a portal until she finally succeeded.
Just then, Wanda cast a spell in your direction, which you managed to barely stop.
"Quick, go," you said, holding back Wanda's spells and casting yours in her direction.
"Thank you, Y/N," said Wong, looking at you. "Kamar-Taj is grateful to you."
You nodded, and just then Wanda's spell hit you, making you fall to the ground unconscious.
"Y/N!" said America, advancing towards you but being held back by Strange's arm, causing her to enter the portal next to him and Wong and disappearing,leaving you alone with Wanda.
"Poor, little, little Y/N. Your friends have abandoned you to your fate," she said, her voice laced with venom. "Now what are you going to do,huh?" She continued,walking towards you and tapping your body with her foot.
Blood dripped from your head, falling rhythmically to the ground.
"Y/N?" asked Wanda again,striking your body with her foot with more force. "This isn't funny anymore."
"Sorry, my love,I got too much into the role," you said, smiling. "Good acting by me,but I think you shouldn't have hit me so hard," you said, touching your forehead and wincing slightly.
"Let me see," said Wanda,kneeling down to be at your height and grabbing your jaw to see your forehead. "It's bleeding a little. Sit on the altar so I can disinfect your wound," said Wanda,standing up and holding out her hand for you to take so you could stand up.
Wanda took a first aid kit that was in the corner of the temple and straddled your lap to get a better look at the wound.
With a cotton swab, she applied a disinfectant liquid, causing you to wince.
"Don't complain, detka,it doesn't hurt that much," said Wanda. "Do you want me to kiss it better?"
"That would be nice," you replied, smiling broadly.
Wanda deposited a couple of kisses on your forehead, being careful not to hurt you, and rested her forehead on yours.
"I love you so much, detka"
"I love you too, Wands; I always have," you replied, giving her a kiss and caressing her hips. "The new suit looks great on you, by the way".
"Oh, thank you, honey," said Wanda, smiling.
"You look so hot," you said, kissing her again, this time more deeply. "You always look great," you added,depositing kisses on her neck,making Wanda moan.
"Not now, honey; you must rest and let your wound heal," said Wanda between moans.
"I don't feel like it," you replied, stroking all her skin up and down and caressing the curve of her ass.
"Y/N,lie down and rest," said Wanda, frowning. "If you don't, you'll go two weeks without cuddling."
"Hey,that's not fair," you replied, pouting. "Fine, you win, but sleep with me; I haven't slept cuddling with you in a while."
Wanda smiled and nodded,grabbing your hand to guide you to her room so you could sleep in a comfortable bed.
"The spell worked, by the way," Wanda said, smiling. "Now we know America's position at all times. It was a good plan to pretend we were nothing anymore and get you closer to Strange and Wong so we could get to America."
"Thank you," you smiled. "We'll get there soon, Wanda," you said, grabbing her hand and kissing it. "Soon everything will be alright."
Overprotective!Dad!Stephen Strange x GN!teen!yn
Platonic!America Chavez x GN!teen!YN
summary: living with Steven Strange as your dad
Stephen was always extremely overprotective of you. He would let you have fun but he'd always be by your side.
He'd do anything to keep you happy but sometimes he didn't know what you needed. He'd shower you in gifts and try to spend as much time with you as possible, but often got held up at work.
That was until he had gotten in a car accident and could no longer work in the hospital. He was heartbroken but stayed strong around you.
When he started working in the Sanctum Sanctorum he became much happier and started healing. He'd spend hours every day with you. He loves teaching you everything he knows.
During the events of Infinity War he made you stay at home. He was worried you'd get hurt and decided it was the best option.
When he got back after the blip he became even more protective. He had realized how easy it is to loose people and he can't loose you.
He never leaves your side unless he's doing something he believes is dangerous. Then he'll make you stay with Wong and on rare occasions Christine.
When you meet America the two of you immediately become friends. It was nice for you to finally be around someone your age.
He'd let the two of you go out by yourselves but don't think he's against grounding you if you get into trouble.
Stephen takes your safety very seriously and won't let you out yourself at risk.
