When I got this ask it was close to the release date of Tears of the Kingdom and I had to decide to either write something or do a doodle but I’ve always wanted to draw a lovey dovey couples selfie sort of thing and like HOW COULD I PASS UP THAT CHANCE WITH THE PERFECT PAIR TO DO SO!

OKAY and while I'm upset about Izzy dying especially after all he's been through and grown this season, the scene where Ed is listening to him while he holds Izzy is so beautiful

The fact that we got a scene talking about how Ed can't be quiet, but he stays quiet for the most part when Izzy is talking to him, Izzy taking acountability for "egging blackbead on", which I think when he said "I needed him--Blackbeard, it was us" he means HE needed blackbeard to feel value in himself, because soft equaled weak to him. ALSO "Ed, you're surrounded by family. They love you, Ed.... just be Ed" AND WHEN ED STARTED SOBBING "There he is.." IT FUCKING KILLED ME, I WAS CRYING BEFORE BUT I STARTED SOBBING. I want to kiss Con o Neill for that delivery. I just wish Izzy got to tell the crew that they were also HIS family, and that he really, truly loved them--we only got a scene where he admited to it when not talking to them and I think that's sick, actually.

also I really think there should have been a scene with Lucius and the wooden shark Izzy whittled for him, but okay :( and on the topic of Lucius, him and Pete deserved a longer scene.. This whole episode should have been longer

I do think after all Izzy went through, all his years of chasing someone who would never love him back, he deserved to thrive amongst comfort, family and love with his crew. I know not everyone gets a happy ending but.. Idk, he needed more than that.

And, well... Izzy staying with them for forever THAT way was not what I wanted when I said I wanted Steddyhands in the finale but.. I'll take it, I guess.

I’ll do my best to explain it! I’d like to mention that the artwork isn’t actually a canon scene that happens and is moreso? symbolical 🤧 If that makes sense.

The characters name’s are Soleil (she uses any pronouns! In case me switching them gets confusing!) and Remiel, Remiel being the kid, obv.

I’ll have to go into my world building deets a lil so . apologies for that bc it’s usually kind of loaded😓

Soleil is something I call a guardian. A guardian is basically a piece of The Sky, a personification of sorts. The Sky is sort of like a god. In the very, detached, concept beyond your comprehension kind of way, that doesn’t communicate or really intervene as itself. Simply just. exist as the biggest thing, the thing everything else branches off from.

And Soleil, is one of many guardians. A guardian is the heart of a universe! They emerge in empty spaces within the ether, and fill it with a world that directly parallels their consciousness, their feelings etc.

Soleil is special in the way he interacts with everything around her. In a way she can hear all the faint melodies of everything that exists, including the sky itself! Which she actually kind of, hates! He thinks the sounds coming from The Sky are always very melancholic and upsetting. Therefore when Soleil finally gets to make their own world, a sort of veil appears, that hides The Sky away from her world, and “silences” the sounds.

Inherently, Soleil also shares the same melody with The Sky, as they are a part of it whether he likes it or not, but he refuses to acknowledge this. Drowning out their own sound, the sound of The Sky, with the sound of every living being on their world.

The world continues to thrive in this fashion, with Soleil existing as a distant observer to her creation for a loooong time until one day. A kid is born and this kid? Has the same melody as The Sky. This kid, is Remiel!

Remiel is a lot of things, I can say A LOT about his childhood, which I won’t get into right now as It’s not important to the context of the drawing. Main things that he is, that matters right now, is that he’s quite literally Soleil’s perception of The Sky, hidden deep somewhere in their subconscious, becoming a real physical tangible person in the world that emerged from their feelings!

This frustrates Soleil, they tried SO HARD to keep that sound out of the choir, to tune it out, to drown it out and now its back.

Okay so to sum it all up here. Soleil is created by The Sky, and is a piece of The Sky. Remiel is created by Soleil, but represents The Sky.

If, for simplicity’s sake I refer to The Sky as Soleil’s mom, to make the dynamic easier to understand, Soleil is Remiel’s “mom”, but Remiel is a literal representation of Soleil’s view of her own “mom” which Soleil hates, but despite this she’s also a lot like and shares many traits with her “mom”. And it’s just a big mess of, I’m your creator (mom), but you’re my creator, but we’re also similar, we are the same, but we’re not the same, you made me and I made you. And so forth.

Remiel doesn’t grow up to be the best person, that’s why I chose to draw him as a child. I think that’s especially when the interpretation of this dynamic as more familial hits hardest, because it could also be seen as directly reversing the dynamic, where Sol is a very old thing, as old as their universe quite literally, and Remiel is just a kid, about to hear a lot of things he wont like. ^_^

The more maternal interpretation also makes me upset /pos as Soleil’s issue is not really with Remiel or The Sky, but it’s with herself and her feeling stuck, unable to detach herself from their creator and it’s misery.

Sorry this is kinda messy n all over the place I hope I could get the main idea across at least😓 THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN! For the ask and the compliment :3 It means a lot!

Originally I wanted to say something like "hehe time will tell!!" but then it hit me that time might tell in a year or two or even never. So heres some stuff i have on him right now

So i dont actually have a very consistent design for a scooped mike just yet mostly because they all feel either very empty (like its the same guy but purple) or dont look like mike at all. Which i mean makes sense logically but drives me mad either way

Sorry if the quality is bad, i heard tumblr mobile does that but uhhh these are some little things i made last year. If youre wondering why the small mike doodle says "skinsuit off" thats because its from a version of him that. Well. Wears a skinsuit to hide the fact that hes a corpse. That allowed me to give him a neat little trait of almost obsessively rubbing lotion into his arms

And here are some concepts i drew in my university notes! Ive noticed a lot of people draw scooped mike with a mask like this and honestly think its a great idea. This one would also probably have the mandatory version with a wig. Because sadly my skinsuit idea isnt really canon compliant.

So thats all i have as of right now! I have no idea if Little Tangerines will ever even feature a scooped michael but if it does this is probably how hes going to look like.

I know it wasnt much but i still hope this is a satisfying answer!

Who/what is your biggest inspo for poetry or art?

aagh i dont think i'll ever have one biggest inspo for poetry n art i just have a lot of lads which i like specific things about + those likes are still always ongoing and changing lol (which btw ty for askin bout poetry cause i LOVE it n i never get asked abt poetry hehe)

I have a big ol google doc where i have lines of fav poetry i write down when i come across them (usually when im just scrollin the internets) and atm I've been noticing that a lot of lines i keep enjoying are all by Mary Oliver even tho i've yet to read her collection of poetry!!! so that's on my to-do list C: other poets who's names keep poppin up in that google doc are ocean vuong, richard siken, chen chen and uhh flatsound? they do more music but they've done some spoken word stuff and their songs just feel close enough to the realm of poetry to me u know

Art stuff... lol which medium?? /lh I really like thomas jordan's photography (the COLOURS my DUDE) mmm shelia berger's kinetic sculptures and KICKASS "Bird Show" encaustic paintings (i watched the rlly short like 5 min documentary on her and i was enraptured) Spencer finch has got a lot of cool conceptual art stuff like i think CIE 529 418 (CANDLELIGHT) is rlly cool!! Holly warb and @/vchienart both got some lovely lovely illustrations/paintings with soft beautiful colours... @/emilienunez has some really pretty and elegant yet v cute ceramics!! and @/soonthemoon some really like cute warm n cozy ones... Oof there's so many digital artists i love ;-; and i keep finding new cool lads aghh @catnippackets has such a good grasp on like form n shape if that makes sense?? like drawin people in these rlly fluid poses in like silky lineart aaa i found @milkdudz 's art recently and i LOVE their art style and their cats are just. perfect balance of spiky and soft n very very Cat which is so good @everydaylouie u gotta know louie right ?? how can someone make such lovely 2d and 3d art and music and also know how to code n make lil games. that is too much power for one soul to possess nifty-senpai's art n animations and designs ofc!! are incredible!! and i REALLY love their concepts for what the wc clan territories look like (this moonpool are you kidding me???? gorgeous) @thunderc1an's lineless art style my beloved...... yall clammorin about my lineless art style u GOTTA check out theirs so good (also the everchanging never the same designs for wc characters is so good so freeing so interesting to look at!!) i'm like super bad at listing hcs out in an organized manner (*_ _)人 but here's some:

goes for long walks at night to clear his mind when he can't sleep. yeah walking around the dark alone at like 2 in the morning probably isn't the safest thing but he prefers the solitude at that time of day. occasionally he'll also find something like a cool rock or shell or whatever on these walks to bring back and gift to one of his friends (or just keep for himself)

occasionally tries to hide his emotions so those close to him won't worry about him, but he's not actually very good at that (sometimes) and it just makes them worry more :'0. also, very prone to mood swings, which he also tries to hide as to not ruin the mood [pun was not intended i swear]

please don't let him wear roller skates/heelys - he says he'll be fine and knows how to use them but he crashes into everything and nearly breaks his bones 😭

he and oliver don't actually talk all that much but there is a silent mutual understanding (bird instincts 🤝)

used to have a higher cold tolerance prior to losing his hand (& eye), but can't risk being out in the cold as much anymore due to the mechanical parts possibly getting damaged (& the metal gets freezing which is. uncomfortable) so :( rip

scared of the dentist but only a little bit. not completely terrified but doesn't like going there

i know the mauling len to death thing is a joke sorta but i wonder if there is smthn deeper to it. like len reminds heron of himself in a way (even in spite of several differences), and something about that makes him so envious and full of rage and he's not sure why (he does, but wouldn't admit to it)—what's even more frustrating is len just keeps being... len. is he willfully ignorant and is this mockery or is he really that forgiving? and how could you forgive someone after all they've done to you? maybe len represents a lot of things heron is not and that's what really sets him off to attack him, personally. but maybe not thats just a theory a heron theory
